2023.10.23 18:04 Dad0010001100110001 Has anyone else noticed a major decline in quality of Super Burritos in the area lately?
I feel like more and more taquerias in the area are losing quality in their burritos. Many that I go to now are skimping on the meat and adding a lot more filler like lettuce, beans and rice instead of the good stuff like meat, cheese, guacamole, etc.
On top of that the average burrito is now like $13 each which is crazy to me.
Maybe I get burritos too often but dang do I miss when places would absolutely load them up with the good stuff.
I've noticed this as El Favorito, El Forestero, California Burrito, Adalbertos and others.

| Cross-posted from Wildlands This is DJ Perico with a Narco Update: Not only does our mystery leaker appear to have Santa Blanc's best interests in mind, but if appears that the invaders we saw in the previous batch of leaked images were not alone! A separate team of foresteros has landed on Bolivia and begin terrorizing both Santa Blanca and UNIDAD in Libertad Province. In addition to these images being posted on social media, our mystery friend emailed a graphic photo showing the aftermath of a series of senseless acts of violence against our friends in UNIDAD and Santa Blanca not just to my personal inbox, but those of General Baro, El Sueno, and El Presidente himself, along with a warning that Santa Blanca and UNIDAD have been significantly compromised! Both General Baro and the Bolivian President have scheduled a press conference to discuss a potential counter-operation against these invaders! El Sueno has once again reiterated that he will handsomely reward anyone with information that can lead to either the identity of our mysterious friend or the killing/arrest of these savages on our soil! | The following is a transcript of the latest podcast for Radio Santa Blanca with DJ Perico: DJP: This is DJ Perico with a narco alert: It appears we have been invaded! Images of foreign soldiers were recently leaked online and posted on social media platforms across Bolivia. The perpetrators remain unknown. According to the photos and documents included in the leak, the foreigners have begun aggressively attacking Santa Blanca and UNIDAD personnel alike since their mysterious appearance in Itacua Province and were also seen collaborating with Kataris 26 rebels in efforts to corrupt the loyal citizens of Barvechos Province! El Sueno and General Baro have recently started holding meetings in Flor De Oro Province to discuss the identity of the leaker, the threat level posed by these foresteros, and possible countermeasures to the invaders. According to a press conference earlier this morning, the foreign soldiers appear to be Americans. Both El Sueno and General Baro need your help to identify the source of these Images, or to capture or kill these Foresteros! Anyone with information that could lead to the identity of the leaker or the killing or capturing of these invaders will be handsomely rewarded by El Sueno himself! 2022.06.13 01:30 cooliosaurus I was in Chicago this weekend and I ate at Forestero. It was so good.
I recommend the vegan Korean barbecue taco, and the vegan fish taco. Some of the best tacos I've eaten. The vegan kimchi fries were really good too.
The asada was just ok.
The menu is half vegan/half not-vegan, just so you know.

2020.12.11 02:25 THEJerrySmith Carne Asada Fries... except with Shrimp??
Is there a Taqueria place here in Sacramento that does grilled shrimp instead of the carne asada in their fries?? Back in my hometown, they would do that and it would be BOMB.
I tried ordering these shrimp fries at El Forestero but they literally just ended up making me coconut shrimp over a basket of fries.

Boy CMLL bungled Homage to 2 Legends when it came to distribution and the main event had one of the worst possible things that could happen without someone dying. I'm going to spoil it in the next paragraph, but really it's a spoiler that will just save you from heartbreak.
So... CMLL didn't tell anyone that the show wouldn't air live or be PPV, until like an hour before showtime. An annoying thing for anyone who was planning to watch it live like me. The good news is, if you wait for this post to watch CMLL's Friday Show... it is now free on Youtube. So go enjoy as some action on the card was great. The main event won't be on this top 5 list, as it wasn't one of the best 5 matches this week. It's as simple as that, Terrible got injured late in the match. The long ending bit that he and Oro were suppose to have didn't happen and Terrible had to just lose quick so he could get his dislocated arm looked at.
Ironically AAA also had a bad main event the next night for their big PPV event as well, I won't go into that, because this is CMLL weekly. So, with the disappointments of this week out of the way, let's get to the highlights instead.
What felt like the real main event of Homage to 2 Legends. I loved two matches on that card and gave this one the top spot mostly because of gold being on the line. I think it's a bit like other Los Guerreros Laguneros defenses from the last 2 years, but to be fair most Los Guerreros Laguneros matches hit the mark and this one is no different. The ending stretch here too was a rollercoaster of action. Well worth a watch and a good showcase of all 6 men.
Negro Casas returns from rehabbing a leg injury and Gilbert puts in his best performance in CMLL yet. This rudos vs. rudos match delivered even beyond the expectations I had of it being a very good match. NGD show why they are some of the best guys on the roster. Really this and #1 are basically interchangeable to me. This really should be 1A and 1B for me. Because I can see anyone liking either more then the other. As said, I gave this #2 simply because the #1 match had titles on the line.
Puebla's main event was a great treat. CMLL, if you don't know, like to do these strange alignment swapping matches. Here rudo Barbaro teamed with tecnicos Mistico/Dragon Lee while on the other side we have tecnico Volador Jr. with rudos Mephisto/Ephesto in what was a really fun match. Love seeing Barbaro act more tecnico and likewise Volador Jr. pal around with being a rudo. In hindsight it's a little silly to put Volador vs. Dragon Lee/Mistico and wish him being rudo here was used more in their title match Friday Night, but in a bubble this was great fun and made Puebla a show worth checking out this week, Puebla was actually pretty solid. Speaking of which...
Sadly, the better Bestia del Ring/Terrible vs. Niebla Roja/Angel de Oro match of the week. I thought this match did a great job of building up what was meant to be the epic blow off between these two teams, even if it also included Atlantis/Templario.
The sole match worth checking out from Tuesday night, another chapter in the unending Hechicero/Stuka Jr. feud. Not that I'm complaining, but it does really feel like CMLL could separate these two. It's becoming the new Panther Bros. vs. Puma/Tiger in CMLL. Which too is a feud I liked, but one it feels like CMLL would have never ended, had Puma not left the company.
If you want to see all the gifs I made feel free to check out the albums at the top.
They should be easy enough to view with RES on the Old reddit. SPOILERS BELOW

Did you watch CMLL this week?
Overall a fun week, with some good highlights. Homage to 2 Legends was still plenty of fun despite the disappointment in the main event and the disappointment and annoyance of not being able to watch it live. I'd certainly check out the top 5 and even more so the top 2. Both of which will likely make my top 100 list for 2019. That's not the greatest endorsement, but is something. No reason not to check it out, since it is afterall free on Youtube.
Homage to 2 Legends isn't over just yet though, as Arena Puebla will be running it's own version of the titular event, so let's get to this week's cards!
Sonic/Rey Samuray/Astro vs. Police Man/Fuerza Chicana/Sombra Diabolika, like most CMLL openers, this would be the best match to skip on the card. Though since this is a special event, all 6 guys will probably bring their A game, despite being the opening act.
Star Black/Tigre Rojo Jr./King Jaguar vs. Raziel/Cancerbero/El Perverso, should be good. Star Black holds the Occidente Heavyweight Title, which is sorta like a CMLL developmental belt. It doesn't mean much, other than CMLL has some hopes for this kid. AFAIK this is his first time on CMLL TV, so expect him to try to make a great first impression.
Furthermore this this Estrella Blancas' Homage to 2 Legends, in honor of him and Salvador Lutteroth, CMLL founder who is always honored on these shows. So, Star Black sorta/kinda debuting on a show for a guy named White Star, likely isn't a coincidence. Don't be surprised if in a year everyone is talking about him. (Much like Audaz/Templario were near nobodies in 2017, but were both pushed hard in 2018)
El Audaz/Stigma/Drone vs. Templario/Felino/Tiger should be tons of fun. Really enjoy all 6 men and the rudo team is really up my alley.
Angel de Oro/Niebla Roja/Valiente vs. Terrible/Bestia del Ring/Barbaro Cavernario. Well, Terrible dislocated his arm Friday. So expect a replacement for him, probably Rush/Mr. Niebla/Negro Casasa, but you never know. Terrible could show up too, his injury might not be so bad as to keep him out of action here.
La Park/Volador Jr./El Hijo de La Park vs. Ultimo Guerrero/Gran Guerrero/Euforia, this should be tons of fun and honestly blow Arena Mexico's H2L main event out of the water. Last time Park was in Puebla he had a month long program vs. Rush right after Anniversary. With Los Guerreros Laguneros still being Trios Champions, don't be surprised if this leads to a rubber title match the following week.
Fantasy/Angelito vs. Mercurio/Peq Olimpico, hate to be so dismissive of the more proportionally sized minis' but CMLL is, so why not? I'm likely going to skip this.
Magnus/Robin/Star Black vs. Nitro/Disturbio/Hijo del Signo, again Star Black appears. 2 nights in a row on TV after years off it. I doubt this is a coincidence again, so as said, keep an eye out for this kid. I'm likely going to watch it just for him, but I like Disturbio too.
Blue Panther Jr./Guerrero Maya Jr./Black Panther vs. Misterioso/Sagrado/Tiger, I was pretty luke warm on a similar match last week and might be here too. Like seeing the panther brothers together though and they end to get better when together.
Blue PantheKraneo/Volcano vs. Bestia del Ring/Hechicero/Kawato San, could be a pretty fun match. Bestia might slow it down some, but these aren't the fastest tecnicos in the world anyways. I'm imagining Bestia will be teased for his hair, or lack thereof.
Mistico/Atlantis/Valiente vs. Negro Casas/Templario/Rey Bucanero, should be fun and this may be the first time Negro has teamed with Templario, but I could be wrong. Negro Casas may look to start a feud here with any of the 3 tecnicos, hopefully Mistico.
Mephisto(c) vs. Dragon Lee for the CMLL World Welterweight Title, a win here would make Dragon Lee a double champion as he also holds the Lightweight title. I'm not 100% certain, but IIRC the last person to hold double (singles) gold in CMLL was either La Sombra or Mascara Dorada, hopefully if Lee follows in their footsteps he'll stop short of going to WWE. Though of all of the CMLL roster, one would assume Dragon Lee is the one WWE is eyeing the most. Hopefully this match can top Mephisto/Dragon Lee from last year.
Star Jr./Stigma vs. Grako/Coyote, should be an excellent opener. I'm a big fan of all 4 men.
Marcela/Kaho Kobayashi/Mystique vs. Dalys/Amapola/Reyna Isis, should be pretty fun. Nice to see Kaho on TV again, she is on tour, but you'd be forgiven for forgetting. She did say on informa that this tour has no set end date, so to be fair CMLL might just be trying no to burn out the fanbase on her.
Stuka Jr./FlyeAudaz vs. Polvora/Vangellys/Kawato San, should be good, but this rudo team might not be able to keep up.
Barbaro vs. Forastero lightning match, should be a fun rudo vs. rudo brawl. If Forestero wins it would be an easy gateway to a title match vs. Barbaro, but I don't see him winning.
Angel de Oro/Niebla Roja/Titán vs. Mr. Niebla/Terrible/Bestia del Ring, again Terrible might still be out of commission. If so expect Rush/Negro Casas in his place.
Caristico/Volador Jr./Diamante Azul vs. Ultimo Guerrero, Euforia & Gran Guerrero, I don't know why Valiente isn't in VoladoCaristico's spot. Seeing as he and Azul have the tag titles, but whatever. Should be fun, but a bit of a waste not switching up the tecnico team more. As this is what we got at Homage to 2 Legends, but Lee out for Azul, which doesn't seem like an even trade at all. Could be a surprise banger though as Los Guerreros Laguneros always bring their A game as a team.
Hope You enjoyed CMLL this week, see you next week!

Arena Puebla Report! Arena Puebla Highlights Arena Mexico New Values Report! Arena Mexico New Values Highlights Super Friday Arena Mexico Report! [Super Friday Arena Mexico Highlights](House sitting and cannot make an imgur album as the wifi won't upload it)
Boy CMLL bungled Homage to 2 Legends when it came to distribution and the main event had one of the worst possible things that could happen without someone dying.

2018.04.16 17:29 Pgluck The Great Brownie Bake Off
TL:DR The winner of my pseudo-scientific experiment was Callebaut bittersweet 60.3% and out of three recipes the favorite was Bravetart's
brown butter brownies.
After all my baking cookbooks exhorted using quality ingredients and specified various brands of baking chocolate (Scharffenberger, Valrhona, Callebaut...) to use, I started wondering what the big deal was. I decided that brownies were a good testing ground to compare them, scoured some local shops for different baking chocolates, and had them battle it out in a series of 4 rounds. The winner was then used in three different recipes.
Methods: I started with my favorite fudgy brownie recipe at the time from Dessert by the Yard and made four sets of brownies with the different baking chocolates each round. I had my friends rank each brownie from 1 to 4, and I tallied these numbers with the winner having the lowest number of points. There were around 8 people each time. I wasn't as rigorous as I wished to be since I initially bought 8 chocolates, then tacked on 3 more. I had the top two from the first two rounds advance to battle it out with each other, and the winner of that round went on to battle the next three chocolates I bought. Lastly, I decided to use the winner in three different recipes:
Dessert by the Yard,
Baked brownies,
Bravetart's brown butter brownies.
Results: Out of 11 baking chocolates, the winner was
Callebaut bittersweet 60.3%. The recipe winner was Bravetart's
brown butter brownies. Here are the
point totals and prices.
Discussion: The chocolates:
I wish I was better at describing the differences between the chocolates, but here's my tasting notes, overall observations, and the website descriptions.
- E. Guittard bittersweet 63%- I can't find what exactly I bought on the website, and I also can't remember much about the taste, but it was an all around favorite and not much more expensive than grocery store chocolate.
- Essential Pantry- The cocoa taste is enhanced by the intensive coffee and liquorice fragrance conveying Arriba to an unforgettable sensuous experience. The traditional gentle processing method (72 hours conching) unfolds the intensive dried prune bouquet leading to a long-lasting finish of a light flowery black-currant note. This one was too bitter in the brownies and widely disliked.
- Private selection 62%- buttery rich generic brownie taste. Was quite polarizing with some people enjoying the flavor, and some thought it was boring, which is why it won the first round and lost in the third round as different people participated in the tasting. I admit I was a snob and was surprised by how well this grocery store chocolate did.
- Valrhona Manjari 64%- Fresh and tangy, MANJARI 64% liberates acidulous notes of red and dried fruits. Also too bitter in the brownies and was the least favorite of the round.
- Agostoni Madagascar Origins Dark Couverture 70%- intense but round chocolate flavor that is very fruity with a long finish. Unfortunately, I don't remember much about this one.
- Ghiradelli 60%-61274)- I don't know how else to describe it, but I also felt that this chocolate had a generic taste. It was not as buttery and fake tasting as the private selection chocolate. I preferred this chocolate compared to the private selection.
- Santander 70% with colombian coffee- Chocolate Santander Colombian Coffee combines a bitter 70% chocolate flavor with delicious espresso coffee, creating an exquisite tropical flavor. A dark flavor. I very much enjoyed the hint of espresso, but it was universally disliked by everyone else.
- Scharffenberger bittersweet 70%- it adds more depth to cakes and cookies with bright fruitiness and a long, smooth finish. Another polarizing chocolate. I thought the flavor was boring.
- E. Guittard Ecuador Nacional 65%- Extremely dark color foreshadows its powerful but flowery chocolate taste. The intensity of this rarified Forestero varietal produces rich, green forest, tea and slight nut flavors with a lingering banana and pound cake finish. Probably not the best chocolate for brownies. Ended up being quite sweet, which only a few voters liked. I enjoyed the flavors on its own and could still taste some of the nuttiness in the brownies.
- Callebaut bittersweet 60.3%- I bought this in a store, so I'm not sure if this listing is the same. This mild mannered, sweet, dark chocolate couverture offers subtle delicate floral notes, hazelnut and a hint of red fruits. Dark, but not too dark, I think this won because of its mild flavor, yet was less generic tasting than the ghiradelli. It was either ranked first or second for most voters.
- Valrhona Caraibe 66%- CARAÏBE 66% is a perfect balance of smooth chocolate and roasted dried fruit notes with a slight oaky finish. Its opulent and soft melody unveils subtle almond and roasted coffee flavors. This was one of my favorites, but was another polarizing chocolate because of the dark coffee taste.
The recipes:
I used the Callebaut chocolate in all three recipes. All were pretty fudgy because that's the type of brownie I prefer.
- Dessert by the Yard brownies-Classic fudgy brownies. Was the most "boring" out of the three recipes. This brownie was the most solid out of the three recipes and most people didn't like the texture as much as the other two recipes.
- Baked brownies- My friend's favorite recipe. Espresso powder added a note of interest. I think the espresso taste was most obvious in this brownie. Some people preferred the texture of this brownie compared the bravetart's brownie, which was gooier.
- Bravetart's brown butter brownies- The winner! Most people greatly enjoyed the brown butter flavor with the espresso powder. Although our thermometer did read 205, it may have been inaccurate as the brownies don't seem to hold together as well as pictured or because I did use a glass baking dish since I didn't have a metal one of the right size. Nevertheless, this was my favorite for the flavor and texture.
Here's the
recipe ingredients scaled to fit an 8x8 pan. I think the cocoa powder in the baked and bravetart recipe affected the texture as well as the amount of baking chocolate used. The espresso powder was also obvious in the baked and bravetart recipes. The brown butter in the bravetart recipe added an obvious difference in the taste.
Conclusions: Brownies are delicious! Brown butter is amazing!
Have you used any of these baking chocolates before? What did you use them in? What's your favorite baking chocolate? How can you tell what chocolates are suitable in different desserts? Random thoughts: Ideally, I would have picked a favorite recipe first and then tested out the different baking chocolates. I'm not sure how much the different cacao content in the chocolates affected the result. If I had attempted to adjust the sweetness of some of the more bitter chocolates, would they have performed better? Did the grocery store chocolates perform pretty well because that's what most people are familiar with? It's interesting that the baking chocolates with coffee flavor were disliked when the recipes including espresso powder were well liked. It might be because those chocolates were also quite dark, so the brownies were not sweet enough.
Additional methods: Brownies were always made with the same brand of ingredients except the baking chocolate. They were all baked in a glass baking dish. When comparing the different baking chocolates, I made them in a 7"x5" glass baking dish and I was able to vote in a double blind manner. I numbered the chocolates, and my husband converted them to letters and placed them in the oven to bake at the same time. Brownies were not rotated in the oven. When comparing the different recipes, I made them in an 8"x10" glass baking dish.
Edits for formatting as always.
Edit: I made these
cocoa powder only brownies and the brown butter ones. I still like the brown butter flavor, but the other recipe is a very delicious and simple chewy and fudgy recipe. The ratios are similar to the dessert by the yard recipe except that it has more butter and obviously uses cocoa powder instead of baking chocolate.

Monday Arena Puebla Report! Monday Highlights Tuesday from Arena Mexico Tuesday Highlights Super Friday from Arena Mexico Super Friday Highlights What a stacked week we had. I was pretty so so on Mondays show, but Tuesday had a fantastic trios match and Dragon Lee and Mistico showed that the excitement for their teaming is for a good reason! It was a good week overall, though I don't think Monday has that much to look back on fondly. Without further ado here are my top 5 picks for CMLL this week.
1.
Pegasso, Stigma & Star Jr. vs Templario, Raziel & Cancerbero(Tuesday) Match of the week. What else could it be? No other match this week had this much excitement around it. While this is more about making guys who aren't main event level feel main event level. Everyone did everything they could to make this match the exciting exchange it was. I have said I think La Copa Jr. finals this year would be Templario/Audaz, if that's is the case I at least hope Star Jr. gets to show his stuff vs Templario in the semi-finals because he too is such a treat to watch in the ring. This is a dark horse, but has to be my best match of the week. So much great action, in a match that could have easily been filler.
2.NGD(Sanson and Forastero) vs Dragon Lee and Mistico(Friday)](
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZE57iA3apRc&feature=youtu.be&t=4167)
Gotta love brothers Mistico & Dragon Lee teaming together, who wouldn't? A bad person that's who! Add to that the fact that NGD are some of the best team guys in CMLL and we have an obviously great match. It's also the longest and most substantial match of the block that happened Friday night for this CMLL Tag Team Championship tournament. With the finals happening at Homage to 2 Legends on the 16th.
3.
Fuego, Blue Panther Jr. and The Panther vs Virus, Puma & Tiger(Friday) I'm 100% in the Panther Bros vs Felino Bros is the greatest rivalry going now camp and this match is a great example of why. Which I say putting it at my #3 for the week which just shows how strong this week really is. I fear the week after Homage to 2 Legends will be very "Who Cares?", but the weeks leading up to it have all been fairly strong.
4.
Mephisto © vs. Soberano Jr. for the CMLL World Welterweight Title(Monday) Great title match, would have probably been higher most weeks. It was just a really strong week. Both guys are fun to watch with Soberano Jr. being a star who will probably define the next decade of lucha libre. Also, proof that Arena Puebla can have great content often hosting these title matches for the various belts in CMLL.
5.
Hechicero, Diamante Azul & Stuka Jr. vs Kraneo, Johnny Idol & Titan(Monday) Probably not a match I thought would be on this top 5 when I was viewing it. The strangeness of this match up though is so fun, that I had to put it on this list even if it barely takes a spot on this list above some of the better tournament matches from Friday which were also good. I think overall the tournament bracket was the best story this week.
Great week for CMLL, we have Volador Jr. & Valiente in the finals for the tag title tournament, will they capture it on the 16? At the same card will Angel de Oro or Cuatrero win a match and leave the other in defeat? We will just have to wait and see.
Select Arena Puebla Gifs :
Various gifs from Tuesday's Arena Mexico show.
Super Friday Highlights
Did you watch CMLL this week? If you skipped out I would suggest the tournament bracket, some great matches in there even if every single one isn't a classic.. Thought Friday was the strongest card, I think Monday was a little weak. Plenty of great action and really I probably could have justified a top 10 this week since we got so many first fall matches in the tournament bracket.
Monday Arena Puebla Poster Looking like a pretty good card. Volador Jr. and Barbaro Cavernario is deceptively good. It'll either lead to a title match or just be a scratch would be my bet. Puma/Tiger low on the card makes that slot actually worth watching unlike last week... no offense to the guys there last week.
Arena Mexico Tuesday Poster Start of the show is pretty weak, with Arkangel/Hijo del Signo being one of the weakest lightning matches in Arena Mexico in ages. Still a team of Soberanro/Audaz/Dragon Lee should be pretty great. That's really the standout on the card though as everything else either looks weak or could be hit or miss.
Super Friday Poster Main event looks strong, really even the opening tag should be above par for the opener. The teams for this block look a little weak. I hope one of these teams win because Valiente and Volador are sorta boring choices for the tag straps and don't really need them with both men already being trios champions.
Hope You enjoyed CMLL this week, see you next week!

I have said I think La Copa Jr. finals this year would be Templario/Audaz, if that's the case I at least hope Star Jr. gets to show his stuff vs Templario in the semi-finals because he too is such a treat to watch in the ring.

2012.08.03 18:50 Truan Change anyone's view on fast food recently? I introduced my friend to Popeye's and he has sworn of KFC and Church's because of how amazing it was.
I have to admit, I'm the same way. yesterday we were driving around running errands and I was incredibly hungry, but trying not to buy fast food (we past El Forestero's, Chipotle, various chinese foods) but I haven't had Popeye's in month's and screeched into the parking lot assuring him if we were wasting our money on anything, it would be this.
Two bites into his sammich, and he tells me "I don't think I can eat any other chicken ever again"
Shameless promotion time: have you taken a friend to a restaurant only for them to secure your views that it's the best place ever?
I expect lots of in n out posts.
