2024.05.19 18:01 Optimal_Ad_1847 26 [M4F] #Chicago, IL/Anywhere - Love Sick

Hi guys,
Love, love, and love. A wandering hopeful romantic searching for love.
Me:
A Texan through and through, with roots in small towns and residence in the big city. I am currently pursuing a career in health-care as a medical student, and I moved to Chicago for that reason. Finally, I am of South Asian descent, which adds a touch of cultural richness to the mix.
Hobbies/Interests: If we share the same interests, then that is great. It's not necessary, though. I value a connection over shared hobbies.
One of my favorite pastimes is watching movies. I have frequent movie nights. Some showings include: "Inception", "Godzilla Minus One", "The Thing" (1982), "Whiplash", and "Shutter Island". Snacks and drinks are included. Terence Fletcher is mean, but my cooking is meaner. I enjoy exploring various cuisines at restaurants, and I enjoy trying new recipes when cooking at home. A few of my favorite cuisines are: Thai, Mediterranean, and Indian. I balance out the snacking, drinking (virgin), and eating by being active. I frequently run, walk, and lift. You might have seen me running on Bloomingdale Park Trail or walking along Union Park. A few other interests are reading, boardgames, videogames, and learning a language. I love the competitiveness, strategizing, and fantasy involved in boardgames, but I think Robinson Crusoe (novel character) has the upper hand in those areas. I think it would be fun to have our conversations in another language and whisper sweet nothings to each other. Mon amour. Mahal ko.
Personality:
I am a combination of reserved and adventurous, leaning towards seriousness yet showcasing a playful side when I'm comfortable with someone. I find comfort in being a homebody, but I do emerge from my cave. I strive to go the extra mile for my partner, and I always try to showcase of my love for someone through cards, poems (albeit poorly written), and physical affection.
Physical Description:
My hair cascades in subtle curles at mid-neck-length. I am a fan of the clean-shaven aesthetic, but I occasionally sport well-maintained stubble. My complexion is caramel that is accompanied by dark brown eyes. I have a slim-to-average physique, and I stand at a height of 5'7".
You:
I am searching for someone who values a healthy and active lifestyle, someone who takes care of themselves physically. While physical compatibility is important, I value a shared commitment to overall wellness. Intimacy and romance (sweet sweet love) are important to me, and I like physical affection a lot (a lot). Admittedly, I do like someone that is slightly clingy. It's nice to feel wanted. I would like someone that is vulnerable because it builds a stronger connection. I deeply appreciate the intimacy it fosters. I desire a partner who values companionship and reciprocity, understanding that mutual effort and appreciation are fundamental. I'm drawn to qualities like open-mindedness, calmness, and versatility in a potential partner. A lot of sweetness, a dash of spice, and a little chemical X.
Stuff:
Religion & Politics:
I'm personally not religious. I'm open-minded towards all religious affiliations and welcome the opportunity to learn about different faiths. Similarly, my political stance isn't easily boxed into conservative or democratic ideologies. I value the continuous evolution of my political beliefs, emphasizing independent thinking and the avoidance of polarizing partisan politics.
Kids & Pets:
I've made the decision not to have children. For me, it's about prioritizing my partner, hobbies, and career. I opt not to have pets due to lifestyle constraints, financial considerations, and personal preferences. I simply have no interest in having pets, but I'd be willing to accommodate.

2024.05.19 17:21 johnschw2 Dapat Gawing Protected Area ang New Bilibid Prison Reservation

Dapat Gawing Protected Area ang New Bilibid Prison Reservation

2024.05.19 08:58 SignificanceWild8259 T-20 b-schools of the country

Rating criterias are placements, faculty, industry reputation, brand perception, selection criteria ,fees and future potential. B-school rankings can differ from person to person. I would like to hear your points also. Come up with arguments why some particular b-school should be ranked higher. I would like to hear your views and would make the changes accordingly. I know people are frustrated by ratings but we have to hear views of different people to make an informed decision.
  1. IIM Ahmedabad- Best b-school in India. Epitome of Indian academic excellency. It thrives in all the domains whether its marketing, consulting , finance and genman.
  2. IIM Bengaluru - On par with IIM Ahmedabad. But skewed placements towards consulting.
  3. IIM Calcutta- On par with IIM A and B. But skewed towards finance. No one will be able to shake the brand image of ABC, no matter how hard they work. Their position is cemented for next 25 years.
  4. ISB hyderabad- It is also on par with IIM ABC, in some criterias it is even better than ABC. But I downrated it because of fees. It only selects students with 2 years of workex who are already successful. Bad at creating new successful students, that's why I deducted the marks. Fees is on upper side, higher fees delays many plans whether it is having kids, settling abroad and starting some new venture.
  5. IIM Lucknow- Placements are great. The school rules the ganges plains. It has a huge upward potential because UP is growing at a unprecedented rate. If UP achieves the target of 1 tn dollar gdp in next 10 years, IIM Lucknow will provide the talent to fuel the growth further.
  6. FMS Delhi- Right now, it is better than IIM lucknow. But I have few reservations towards it because of bad infrastructure and low funding from University of Delhi. Years of disinvestment have taken a toll on it. People are willing to pay 25 lakhs for IIM Lucknow rather than living in a bad campus. It got more marks due to best ROI. You can easily start a new venture after passing out as you don't have to pay the emi's.
  7. XLRI Jamshedpur - Best school for HRM. All big brands are visiting the campus. Fees is on higher side and location disadvantage is there. It will lose few more spots in 10-15 years down the line, as new colleges will emerge in metro locations.
  8. SP Jain, Mumbai- It is a great school at the center of financial capital of India. Great location , great leadership and one of the smartest cohort because of great shortlisting process. They know what kind of students will thrive in their environment.
9, 10. IIM Kozhikode, IIM Indore(you can interchange the ranks)- They used to be the finest but neglecting the merit will take a toll on them. Soon, they would lose their spot in the top 10. I can say they have huge downrisks due to high admit of lower percentile students. I don't know why they are compromising quality for the sake of scoring high in NIRF rankings. It is apparent from the SIPs that they are downgrading themselves.
  1. JBIMS, Mumbai- Ceo factory of India. All big brands are visiting the campus. Fees is dope, you don't have to worry about loan. Only concern is poor infrastructure and low investment. They can't get a new campus as it is under University of Mumbai. It is plagued by same concers as FMS.
  2. SJMSOM IIT Bombay - They are doing everything right a B-School can do. Strong placements, strong brand value and IIT backing will give it a huge push in future. They are expanding the batch strength every year and giving tough fight to each B-School of country. Only downside is its incompetency in consulting and finance domain.
  3. IIM Mumbai- People kept on asking that when would delhi, mumbai get its own IIM. Now, Mumbai has got one. It will keep attracting on best of best students because IIM tag coupled with Mumbai suffix is giving it a huge potential. In operations, it is already among best B-schools( Some people say it is best right after Sjmsom, some are saying that it is better than Sjmsom. But i am giving sjmsom an edge due to lower fees).
  4. IIM Shillong- They have done a great deal in the last few years. People have even started to drop I in favour of S. Blacks is better than Blacki😁
15, 16. Mdi gurgaon, IIFT Delhi(You can interchange the ranks)- They used to be among top 10. Years of mismanagement have taken a toll on their ranking. Who is going to trust a management school whose own management is compromised.
  1. Dms, Iit D- I will not be amazed if they jump 7-10 rankings in the coming years. They got the strongest backing in the country ie. Government of india and IIT delhi(check their annual reports and budget allocation). Heavy focus on technology and AI. Only downside is non-technical people are hesitant to join the school because they think that they will not be able to thrive in the techno-managerial roles( a very wrong prejudice).
  2. TISS mumbai- Highly specialised. It is a strength and also a weakness. They should diversify to stay in the rankings. I am highly skeptical for their infrastructure and spending. Fees is a plus point here.
19,20. NMIMS, SIBM(you can interchange the rankings)- They are great bschools. But their image is compromised due to negative marketing of coaching institutes, inflated reports, higher batch size and higher fees. If you don't have better calls, go for them. They are surely worth it.
Note- I haven't included the sister campus like XLRI D and IIFT K. People would argue that they have coupled placements with the main campus. But i am not buying the argument, companies have biased towards sister campus even at the time of placements as well as post mba. Corporate HRs will keep on giving a inferior rating to the sister campuses.

2024.05.19 08:06 prinxe02 ABYG kung palalayasin ko yung kuya ko?

I have an older brother (35) who is a freeloader sa bahay. Mind you, he have a job and same kami ng role and level, but he earns more than I do since sa metro siya nagwowork while I work sa province. They said hate is loud kaya I opt posting it here baka kasi sumabog na ako anytime soon. There are multiple instances which triggers this hate:
1: During college, he spent his tuition fee sa barkada and sents fake receipt sa parents ko until finals came. After learning this, kinausap ako ng parents ko to stop college kasi priority sya makagraduate. I started school early naman so stopping for a year is okay. Hindi din sya nakagraduate.
2: When he went abroad for work, my parents loaned a lot since he went there with tourist visa and need magexit bago makakuha ng working visa. I worked for years para mabayaran yung mga loans na yun whereas di siya nagabot since nakapagwork na siya dun. I also need to shoulder yung expenses sa bahay since ako lang ang may matinong trabaho nun, so I haven’t had a chance to continue my college.
3: I decided to move out sa bahay for personal reasons and since siya yung nasa bahay, I’m assuming that he’ll cover for the bills since never talaga ako umuwi for years. However, for emergencies and pag walang wala na daw silang groceries, sa akin pa din tumatakbo yung mga tao sa bahay. There was one time when my mother needs to be rushed sa ER and sobrang aligaga sya but when we are about to settle the bills na, he went MIA. This is not the first time, FYI. I don’t mind spending for my mother and brothers, but not him.
4: I went back during pandemic since naawa na din ako sa mga kapatid ko at kay mama na wala silang panggastos, I have enough savings naman for college and some left for home renovation. We agreed na hati kami sa renovation cost. Dumating na yung contractor and all wala pa yung materials and budget, as usual he went MIA. So I have to shell out para matapos na din yung project. He went back after the renovation and wala na akong nabalitaan tungkol sa parte nya sa cost. Also, since WFH nun, sa bahay sila nagwowork ng friend niya and they upgraded the internet multiple times kasi need daw sa work, without even consulting me maski ako ang nagbabayad ng bills.
5: When my father died and we sold his properties, he volunteered na siya ang uuwi sa province to settle it with the existing tenant. Ang usapan is for him to deduct all expenses sa mapagbebentahan and the remainder will be used for renovation nung house extension namin. The same thing happened, nandyan na yung contractor and materials pero mapupurnada kasi ayaw niya ibigay yung napagbentahan which will be used pang pasahod. He was able to give around 100k lang then the rest wala na. I begged him na ipadala na yung iba kasi we need it to complete yung project and I told him na di din ako makakapagabono this time kasi di pa ako nakakabawi sa last renovation and reserved for tuition ko yung savings ko. I have no other option but to take out loan para lang matapos yung bubong namin na inopen kasi dapat ipapa2nd floor.
Anyway, gusto ko siyang pagsabihan though I have history kasi na sobrang sakit ko magsalita and may tendency akong manuntok if triggered, kaya I remained silent all these years. All these times I kept telling myself na middle-child syndrome lang to, but I feel the hate growing each day. I asked my mother na pagsabihan siya but she insists na hayaan na lang. ABYG kung palayasin ko yung kuya ko sa bahay since wala naman siyang ambag?
ps: sa bunsong kapatid ko nakapangalan ang bahay at lupa

2024.05.19 07:42 EU4isagoodgame I hate being an Indian male with depression

To start this off, I’m 15 years old and I have lived in America for 8 years. This post isn’t necessarily a life story (I’ll try to keep that short), but more of a societal issue I’m facing. Let’s just say that I’ve been through lots of family issues/trauma and loneliness, which resulted in my depression.
To make my situation as short as possible, I’ll condense a lot of my life. My mom and dad don’t like each other. I have much worse family issues than the average Indian family in America. I have an older sister. I used to have a good amount of friends in elementary school, but I lost all of them in middle school because I went to another school. I reshifted later to the school all my old friends go to in sophomore year (the year I’m currently in), but most forgot me. I had to deal with a lot of loneliness across my middle school and high school time. My sister also had to leave for college exactly when I reached 9th grade. This left me even more lonely. But finding support is almost impossible for me.
So know that you know the bare minimum of my situation, I’ll delve into why being an Indian male with depression sucks. I’ll start off by saying if I was any other race, I think my depression would more acknowledged and taken seriously. The world just doesn’t seem to like Indians for some reason. Now, to any non-Indian, I think I need to explain the social norms of our people. Boys tend to be hyper, trouble makers, with little care. Generally, the male kids tend to be seen as more immature and basically problem-less. Meanwhile, girls are tend to be more responsible. The female kids are seen as more mature. And in the Indian family dynamics, the girls tend to be the ones dealing with all the family issues/burdens while the boys are the ones that are unaware. Indian girls are also more insecure about their race and looks, while boys tend to not be. This causes indian girls to not really like Indian boys because they view them as immature and childish. And to an extent, I can understand this. It really sucks to be an Indian girl who has to go through all that. But I had to go through family issues too. I’m not gonna delve into the family issues cause they’re a bit traumatic, but they basically shaped the person I am. So I dealt with just as much (and even more to be frank) trauma than the average Indian girl. This made me stand out from other Indian boys. In America, the Indians tend to all be in a friend group based on grade because of our small numbers. I’m the only person in my grade and race who isn’t in a close friend group. The Indian boys from my school don’t really like me that much because I’m so introverted and gloomy. Indian girls inherently don’t like Indian boys, hence they don’t like me either. It also doesn’t help that I’m not the best looking, which only makes them dislike me more. I look kinda like your stereotypical nerdy Indian. And obviously other races won’t like me because of our stereotype.
Stereotypical nerdy Indian men are seen as creeps and misogynistic, which makes pretty much the entire world hate us. And I can understand that some of us are but to people like me, this hurts me so bad. I’m very reserved and I would consider not misogynistic at all. Even though I’ve met a lot of women who shun me for being Indian, I’ve always been a strong advocate for women. If I were at least attractive, then people would like me more. And if I was a girl, then other girls would support me. I was naturally born into a terrible stereotype.
So boys from my own race don’t accept me, girls from my race don’t accept me, and other races also don’t accept me. I can’t explain this to my sister because she also thinks I’m immeasurable and childish. I try to show her my true feelings but she keeps dismissing them. And my parents are immigrants, and they don’t have a clue on mental health, so they can’t help either. A psychiatrist would be too expensive (and a pain in the ass to explain to my parents). I can’t go to the school psychiatrists either because they just call home and that would put me in a worse situation. I know this post sounds a bit generalizing, but that’s what I’m against. I’m really struggling to just be able to find someone who can support me, but everyone hates me and I didn’t even do anything. I don’t know what I should do because I’m so lonely.
What are your thoughts?

2024.05.19 06:52 dministrator NRI visiting family for 3-4 weeks - SIM card challenges

Let us just say I have exactly one aged relative that I want to visit and stay with, in India. I don’t or won’t have any address proof for this stay (no hotel reservation etc, name on the ration card etc).
How on earth are we supposed to provide an address proof for getting a local SIM card? Many keep saying the alternative to this is, “ohh you can ask your friend or family and they can get it for you”.
First of all, is it legal to use someone else’s identity, even with their consent, to obtain a SIM like this? Secondly, what if I want the line in my name and don’t want to use a relative’s particulars? What are my options here? Even the two airport AirTel locations demand proof of India address.
Question Ends, Rant Begins:
Why are the Indian Government issued documents like OCI / PAN/ NRO/NRE Bank statements, etc not good enough as identity proof and a foreign utility bill/driver license/ID card etc as address proof? Even if someone furnishes a proof of India address somehow, there’s no guarantee they remain in that address for the duration of their stay. So what is the point?
Archaic rules like these promote more dishonesty and force people to bend rules like using a relative’s identity etc.
Sometimes the rules they adopt in the name of security, defies logic.

2024.05.19 03:32 JoshAsdvgi Navajo Skinwalkers

Navajo Skinwalkers
In the Navajo culture, a skinwalker is a type of harmful witch who has the ability to turn into, possess, or disguise themselves as an animal.
This witch is called “yee naaldlooshii” by the Navajo, which translates to “with it, he goes on all fours.”
It is just one of several types of Navajo witches and is considered the most volatile and dangerous.
For the Navajo people, witchcraft is just another part of their spirituality and one of the “ways” of their lives.
As such, witchcraft has long been part of their culture, history, and traditions.
Witches exist alongside humans and are not supernaturals.
The Navajo believe there are places where the powers of both good and evil are present and that those powers can be harnessed for either.
Medicine men utilize these powers to heal and aid members of their communities, while those who practice Navajo witchcraft, seek to direct the spiritual forces to cause harm or misfortune to others.
This type of Navajo witchcraft is known as the “Witchery Way,” which uses human corpses in various ways such as tools from the bones, and concoctions that are used to curse, harm, or kill intended victims.
The knowledge of these powers is passed down from the elders through the generations.
The Navajo are part of a larger culture area that also includes the Pueblo people, Apache, Hopi, Ute, and other groups that also have their own versions of the Skinwalker, but each includes a malevolent witch capable of transforming itself into an animal.
Among these tribes, a number of stories and descriptions have been told throughout the years about the Skinwalkers.
Sometimes, these witches evolved from living their lives as respected healers or spiritual guides, who later chose to use their powers for evil.
Though they can be either male or female, they are more often male.
They walk freely among the tribe during the day and secretly transform under the cover of night.
In order to become a Skinwalker, he or she must be initiated by a secret society that requires the evilest of deeds – the killing of a close family member, most often a sibling.
After this task has been completed, the individual then acquires supernatural powers, which gives them the ability to shape-shift into animals.
Most often, they are seen in the form of coyotes, wolves, foxes, cougars, dogs, and bears, but can take the shape of any animal.
They then wear the skins of the animals they transform into, hence, the name Skinwalker. Sometimes, they also wore animal skulls or antlers atop their heads, which brought them more power.
They choose what animal they wanted to turn into, depending on the abilities needed for a particular task, such as speed, strength, endurance, stealth, claws, and teeth, etc.
They may transform again if trying to escape from pursuers.
Because of this, the Navajo consider it taboo for its members to wear the pelt of any predatory animal. However, sheepskin, leather, and buckskin are acceptable.
The skinwalkers are also able to take possession of the bodies of human victims if a person locks eyes with them.
After taking control, the witch can make its victims do and say things that they wouldn’t otherwise.
Once they were shape-shifted, one way that others could tell that they were not a real animal is that their eyes are very different than those of the animal.
Instead, their eyes are very human, and when lights are shined on them, they turn bright red.
Alternatively, when they are in human form, their eyes look more like animals.
The evil society of the witches gather in dark caves or secluded places for several purposes – to initiate new members, plot their activities, harm people from a distance with black magic, and perform dark ceremonial rites.
These ceremonies are similar to other tribal affairs, including dancing, feasts, rituals, and sand-painting, but were “corrupted” with dark connotations.
The evildoers are also said to engage in necrophilia with female corpses, commit cannibalism, incest, and grave robberies.
During these gatherings, the Skinwalkers shape-shift into their animal forms or go about naked, wearing only beaded jewelry and ceremonial paint.
The leader of the Skinwalkers is usually an old man, who is a very powerful and long-lived Skinwalker.
Skinwalkers also have other powers including reading others’ minds, controlling their thoughts and behavior, causing disease and illness, destroying property, and even death.
Those who have talked of their encounters with these evil beings describe a number of ways to know if a skinwalker is near.
They make sounds around homes, such as knocking on windows, banging on walls, and scraping noises on the roof.
On some occasions, they have been spied peering through windows.
More often, they appear in front of vehicles in hopes of causing a serious accident.
It is said that, in addition to being able to shapeshift, the Skinwalker is also able to control the creatures of the night, such as wolves and owls, and to make them do its bidding.
Some are able to call up the spirits of the dead and reanimate the corpses to attack their enemies.
Because of this, you shouldn't ventured out alone.
Its supernatural powers are uncanny, as they are said to run faster than a car and have the ability to jump high cliffs.
They are extremely fast, agile, impossible to catch and leave tracks that are larger than those of any animal. When they have been seen, they have been described as not quite human and not fully animal.
They are usually naked, but some have reported seeing the creature wearing tattered shirts or jeans.
The Skinwalker kills out of greed, anger, envy, spite, or revenge.
It also robs graves for personal wealth and to collect much-needed ingredients for use in black magic.
These witches live on the unexpired lives of their victims and they must continually kill or perish themselves.
Skinwalkers and other witches have long been blamed for all manner of unexpected struggles and tragedies through the years, including sickness, drought, poor crops, and sudden deaths.
Even smaller or individual problems such as windstorms during dances, alienation of affection by mates, the death of livestock, and reversal of fortune, were often believed to be the work of a witch.
This was most apparent with the Navajo Witch Purge of 1878, which initially evolved from a cultural response to so many people moving across and onto their lands.
After a series of wars with the U.S. Army, the Navajo were expelled from their land and forced to march to the Bosque Redondo (Fort Sumner) in New Mexico in what is known as the Long Walk of the Navajo in 1864.
There, the people suffered from bad water, failed crops, illness, and death, reducing their numbers dramatically.
After four years, the government finally admitted they had made a mistake and the Navajo were allowed to return to their homeland in the Four Corners area.
During these years, many of the tribe’s members were said to have turned to shape-shifting to escape the terrible conditions.
In the meantime, the rest of the tribe were convinced that their gods had deserted them.
Once the people had returned to their homeland, their conditions improved, but the dreaded skinwalkers, for whom they blamed for their years on the bleak reservation, were still among them.
Accusations of witchcraft and the hunting of the skinwalkers began.
When someone found a collection of witch artifacts wrapped in a copy of the Treaty of 1868, the tribal members unleashed deadly consequences.
The “Navajo Witch Purge” occurred in 1878, in which 40 Navajo suspected witches were killed in order to restore harmony and balance for the tribe.
Today, most of the tales of sightings of these witches do not include death or injury, but rather, are more “trickster-like.”
Numerous people have told stories of swift animals running alongside their vehicles, matching their speed. After a short period, however, they run off into the wilderness.
Along the way, these animals sometimes turn into a man, who sometimes bangs on the hood.
Another story tells of a man who was making repairs on an old ranch home when he began to hear loud laughter coming from the nearby sheep pens.
Thinking he was alone, he went to investigate and found all of the sheep but one huddled in one corner of the pen.
However, there was a lone ram separated from the group that was standing upright and laughing in a very human manner.
After the man locks eyes with the ram, he sees that his eyes are not that of an animal, but very like a human’s. The animal then casually walked away on all four legs.
Some say they have seen them running through the night, sometimes turning into a fiery ball, leaving streaks of color behind them.
Others have seen angry-looking humanoid figures looking down on them from cliffs, mountains, and mesas.
In the 1980s one of the most notable events occurred when a family was driving through the Navajo Reservation.
As they slowed to make a sharp curve, something jumped from the ditch.
It was described as black, hairy, and wore a shirt and pants.
A few days after this event, at their home in Flagstaff, Arizona, the family was awakened to the sounds of loud drumming and chanting.
Outside their home were three dark forms of “men” outside their fence.
However, these shadowy creatures were seemingly unable to climb the fence and soon left.
These events have occurred in the Four-Corners area of southwest Colorado, southeast Utah, northeast Arizona, and northwest New Mexico.
In the 1990s, a ranch in northeast Utah, far away from the Navajo Reservation, became the partial focus of the Skinwalkers.
Called the Sherman Ranch, the Skinwalker Ranch, and the UFO Ranch, this place has a history of UFOs, aliens, cattle mutilations, and crop circles.
Located near the Ute Indian reservation, these people have long thought that the Navajo put a curse on their tribe in retribution for many perceived transgressions and since then, the skinwalkers have plagued the Ute people.
Witchcraft represents the antithesis of Navajo cultural values and is not tolerated.
They work to avoid it, prevent it, and cure it in their daily behaviors.
However, when it exists, their laws have always said that when a person becomes a witch, they have forfeited their humanity and their right to exist, so they should be killed.
However, skinwalkers are notoriously hard to kill and attempts are usually unsuccessful.
Trying to kill one will often result in the witch seeking revenge.
Successful killing generally requires the assistance of a powerful shaman, who knows spells and rituals that can turn the Skinwalker’s evil back upon itself.
Another alternative is to shoot the creature with bullets that have been dipped into white ash.
However, this shot must hit the witch in the neck or the head.
Traditionally, the Navajo will not speak with outsiders about these creatures, for fear of retribution by the skinwalkers.
For that matter, it is a taboo subject amongst the natives themselves.
“These are not things that need or should be discussed by outsiders.
At all.
I’m sorry if that seems ‘unfair,’ but that’s how our cultures survive.” – Dr. Adrienne Keene, Native American academic, writer, and activist

2024.05.19 02:30 zkidparks The guide to FOREVER (a photo/digital storage MLM)

Hello redditors of antiMLM,
Just this week, I received an email from a relation advertising FOREVER—not to be confused with Forever Living. Searching through this sub, I found a few short references over the last years with little detail. In one, a commentor described FOREVER stating "as mlms go, it seems ethical." Every red light went off while I looked into these “FOREVER Ambassadors.” I then began a search, with much of the ultimate work done by my spouse. It took longer than seemed acceptable to identify this MLM for people who glanced over the internet. FOREVER is not listed on any of the MLM databases I could find from this sub or elsewhere. Based on the mandatory “FOREVER Ambassador Community” on Facebook, now 8 years old, at least 2,500 people have gotten into their clutches at some point (I haven’t linked because I think it might be against the sub rules).
Thus, for the benefit and enjoyment of the people, here are references for the community to identify a yet-another-multi-level-marketing scheme. I am a sarcastic person, so be forewarned. All sources were publicly available and required no logins or access.

STUDY OF FOREVER
(1) Background of the FOREVER business model
FOREVER is an online service that advertises it can be a “permanent digital home that lasts for many generations.”[1] This is to be accomplished via a so-called “FOREVER Guarantee Fund” that invests to pay for digital storage for over 100 years.[1] Their website promises me that “permanent” is “not a buzzword”—I think that’s the Platonian ideal of a buzzword.[1] Regardless, this is not a quality review post.
(2) The FOREVER Ambassador program
The sellers used by FOREVER are called “FOREVER Ambassadors.”[2] As advertised, it looks like a classic MLM pitch. You can “earn up to 35%” commission” while having “the freedom to work from home, and the flexibility to make money on your own schedule.”[2] FOREVER lists various opportunities, such as “trainings” and the ability to “learn and grow with friends,” as well as “make life-long friends.”[2] As part of the “Meet our Team” webpage for corporate FOREVER, there are multiple “Executive Ambassadors” listed.[3] There is no barrier to entry on experience required to become an Ambassador.[4] I observed that, throughout the internet and on the FOREVER website, the vast majority of Ambassadors are women—as you know, many MLMs target women and moms.
(3) Costs of serving as an Ambassador
FOREVER has, at minimum, an “Annual Ambassador Fee” that is the primary cost to entry of the program.[2] For $179 a year, one would receive “back office tools,” various marketing materials, and “countless opportunities”—maybe money, but more on that soon.[2] There is a link to an Ambassador’s own selling website.[5, at 22] This Ambassador fee “is subject to change over time.”[5, at 25] There is also a FOREVER Merchandise store where Ambassadors can get their supplies.[6] These include a 40-pack set of catalogs for $44.99 and a $144.99 tablecloth for potential customers during in-person events.[6]
For Ambassadors, FOREVER advertises there are “free training events.”[5, at 25] Each year, for $399 in 2024, Ambassadors can attend the 3-day “FOREVER Live!” event.[7] It is in the destination getaway of… next to their headquarters in Pittsburgh, PA (I’m sorry Pittsburgh, you’re a beautiful city).[5, at 24] It is also possible to pay for a “p2P Virtual Party” and “p2P Live Events,” but is unclear what those mean.[5, at 5] Various “ranks” of Ambassadors receive a “monthly stipend” starting at $25 a month after $15,000 total in personal plus team sales a year.[5, at 9]
(4) Compensation advertised for Ambassadors
(4a) Income in cash from personal sales
FOREVER pays its Ambassadors based on a “cash sales” versus “full sales” system.[5, at 5] The too-long-didn’t-read summary is that some products are paid less commission than others because of “margin” of different products.[5, at 5–6] Critically, the Personal Commission Rate is where our story kicks into gear. At the bottom, an Ambassador who sells less than $2,000 a year in sales receives the windfall of a 15% commission.[5, at 7] The number rises to 34% once sales are $90,000 or greater in one year (I don’t know where the 35% from earlier went).[5, at 7] However, to earn the 20% commission or more once one passes the $2,000 sales amount requires completion of the “FOREVER Ambassador Business (FAB) Training.”[5, at 7] I read it, more on that later.
You might ask, “Is there a sales quota for FOREVER® Ambassadors?” FOREVER says “no.”[8] However, the less one does the less FOREVER pays Ambassadors for what they do (this chart is older than the Compensation Guide cited).[8]
(4b) The downline system used by FOREVER
Of course, while it took forever to reach here, we come to the “downline” process—FOREVER’s words, not mine.[9] FOREVER immediately identified that new Ambassadors “choose another Ambassador to mentor you as you grow your business” (I do not know if this means an upline).[2] Nevertheless, “Team Sales” are compensated by FOREVER down to the 5th Line.[5, at 9] If an Ambassador does not build a team, then they do not earn Team Commissionable Cash Sales Commissions.[5, at 9] FOREVER states that getting new Ambassadors “to sign up under your name” is how you help “further your business.”[9]
However, even if an Ambassador builds a team, they receive a very restricted downline compensation if they do not make a minimum of personal sales.[5, at 9] For future reference, an “Associate Ambassador,” the bottom, makes less than $2,000 and earns no downline sales.[5, at 9] An “Ambassador,” second to last, is the first rank with a downline commission (4% for 1st Line), requiring $2,000/personal a year.[5, at 9] To reach “Senior Ambassador,” third to last, and above, a FOREVER Ambassador must start earning exponentially greater amounts of personal plus team sales to rise in the “ranks.”[5, at 9] A Senior Ambassador requires $8,000/personal but $15,000/gross, and is the first to get 2nd Line commission (4% for 1st Line and 2% for 2nd Line).[5, at 9] It is unclear to me if “new members” must be recruited “each month” to rankup—the website says so, but I see it nowhere in the Compensation Guide.[8]
At the top of hierarchy, there become two “Executive Ambassadors.”[5, at 9–10] These ranks start at $28,000/personal and $250,000/gross a year.[5, at 9] As well, one must have at least three “Team Leaders” in their 1st Line.[5, at 10] Team Leaders refers to Ambassadors who have themselves reached the rank of “Associate Lead Ambassador” ($12,000/personal and $30,000/gross).[5, at 9] FOREVER advertises that the Executive ranks are for—and I am not making this up—those Ambassadors who are “grooming FOREVER Leaders on your team below you.”[5, at 10] Irony is dead folks.
(4c) Non-monetary-achievement compensation
Because being paid to work is overrated, FOREVER will also provide “Additional Benefits” to its various ranks. As an Associate Ambassador, you can join the aforementioned Facebook Group and hear the CEO talk on a monthly phone call.[5, at 11] Regular Ambassadors also get a certificate to put on their wall.[5, at 11] Senior Ambassadors get a standing ovation at FOREVER Live!—you can even be ovated on stage as an Associate Lead Ambassador (I would pay $179 a year to not).[5, at 13–14] My observation is that a lot of ranks mostly provide additional types of standing ovations at FOREVER Live! and reserved seats for dinners there.
But then you can reach the pinnacle of Everest (that much like the real one, other people just carry you up there): the Million Dollar Club.[5, at 20] For making $1 million in personal and team sales in a year, one will earn a single $10,000 dollar bonus.[5, at 20] If you are then a “top-performing Ambassador,” one can be taken on the “Achievement Gathering,” to Jamaica in 2024, to mill around with other top-performing Ambassadors—and the corporate staff.[5, at 24] There is no mention how many people earn it or how much must be earned.[5, at 24]
(5) FOREVER Ambassador Business Training
I mentioned earlier that Ambassadors must complete a “FAB” training to receive more than 15% in commissions.[5, at 7] To hit this post home, I wanted to identify some highlights. The FAB training has 5 Steps to reach regular Ambassador status.[10, at 4] These Steps include such activities as “Meet with your Upline” (Step 1), “Connect with your Upline” (Step 2), “Meet with your Upline” (Step 3), “Meet with your Upline” (Step 4), and “Meet with your Upline” (Step 5).[10, at 7, 10, 12, 14, 16] You also have to join the FOREVER Facebook group and any created by your Team (just “ask your Upline” to find it).[10, at 6–7] There’s a task in Step 2 to create an introductory “Share List,” with five lines each for “Friends,” “Teachers,” and your own “Parents/Grandparents.”[10, at 7–9] For an unclear number of hours, you must attend multiple weekly and monthly “training opportunities” and “calls.”[10, at 6–7, 10] And one last item, to rank up in FOREVER, you must register for an upcoming event.[10, at 12] As of writing, the only one listed on the linked webpage is the $399 FOREVER Live! conference.[11]
(6) Conclusion down to brass tax on FOREVER
I was unable to find an Income Disclosure Statement for FOREVER. However, basic math tells us that an Associate Ambassador, the bottom, can only earn up to $300 a year.[5, at 11] To reach regular Ambassador, which includes signing up and beginning all the time sinks listed above, the maximum personal commission is $1,200, in addition to whatever downline (however big those are on average).[5, at 11] Without a downline, even the top-bracket personal sellers are the only ones to earn more than $30,000 a year.[5, at 7] The Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis estimates that the Real Median Personal Income in the United States for 2022 was $40,480.[12]
There is one way to make it with FOREVER: to build a downline. It’s a multi-level-marketing scheme, and no one should join it. Unless of course, you want to join my downline—I promise you'll be rich just like me.
