2024.04.26 14:02 MrCt17 I love this game

I love this game
If you can't tell by the title, I bloody love this game. The visuals (in remastered), the open-world, the exploration of land and sea, the variety of gameplay, PA as a developer!! (they really don't get enough credit), the consistent weekly updates and don't even get me started on the combat - the best.
I'm going to share my progression in BDO, share my experiences and draw comparisons between BDO and MapleStory. This might be lengthy, it might be downvoted and if you don't like this sort of thing - please don't be mean (or do) and click away. Also, please don't compare my progression to your own or anyone else's - it's a sandbox game.
Sorry if there's any any grammatical mistakes!

My BDO experience

As per my Steam stats (I've always launched off of Steam), I've logged about 8850 hours - of course this would include afk time and overnight shennanigans. I started off this game with getting boosted as a Sage to 61. My friends had referred me to this game and thought it would be the best time to get into the game based on the rewards at the time (Oct '22). I couldn't stand the combat and just couldn't get into the game. I think the biggest reason why I dropped the game immediately after getting boosted is because I got boosted - not to blame my friends or anything. I didn't allow myself enough time to actively play the game, invest time in learning all the systems in the game and learning the class itself. Essentially got overwhemled and dropped the game for a few months.
Picked up the game in early Feb 2023 and picked up Maegu. Was definitely the right choice as I fell in love with the class and played nonstop. Everything kind of fell into my lap - slow and steady, yet slightly overwhelming at times. The journal system, Jetina PEN system, increase in energy (topography, sea and ecology), lifeskilling, grinding and etc.
I know the game has evolved quite significantly, but the beginning was pretty rough. I had to constantly google and check websites external to the game to learn and grasp all the different systems. Guides after guides. Streams after streams with consistent questions (big thankyou to all the helpful streamers out there). It was also a constant battle of what information was up to date and what wasn't.
Before you look at my timeline and judge how much time I've invested into the game, I WFH. In regards to IRL, I have a girlfriend and she's very understanding that this game is therapeutic to me - whether it's grinding, lifeskilling or doing random things. I also oftenly attend social events, so I'm not that much of a degen...

BDO vs MapleStory:

Before I slam MapleStory, I just want to say that this is my own opinion and obviously it's extremely biased. I hate MapleStory. The game is okay, but I think how out of touch the developers (Nexon) are with the game makes the experience so much worse. If people know MapleStory, I was able to reach level 279, liberated, full 22*, almost 9k legion and am currently 4x 22* pitch boss set (close to 6 while breaking gollux set). For the BDO players that don't know MapleStory, I'm an end-game player (at the time of quitting).
Anyways, MapleStory.. has good visuals, phenomenal music, a great community of players that genuinely care about the game.. and I think that's about it. I played MapleStory for two years, formed life-long friendships and decided to quit based on the direction the game was going and how the player base was treated. Let me give you further detail..
  • MapleStory deleted a whole-ass class (Jett). Why? Because they didn't have the developers or want to invest in a team to continue updating and maintaining a class. MapleStory had different regions - simiar to BDO, but there used to be a publisher for each region. To sum it up, Global MapleStory used to have a developer that would introduce and upkeep independant events and classes. There is now no longer support for Jett. Unfortunately, the players that did commit to playing Jett (no matter how small the player pool was) got barely compensated for it.
    • Kanna, an independant class from Japan MapleStory had a less harsher treatment. From what I recall, their damage got nerfed by 60% overall. I believe they're doing a whole rework now (unsure).
  • Nexon was part of a huge scandal back in early 2021. There used to be memes about how a certain system (Flames) were rigged and how some certain stats would be more frequent than others. Well - guess what? It wasn't a meme. It was true. Just for some context, there are different worlds in MapleStory and there were a signifcant difference between 7-8 of the worlds to the 1 world (Reboot - which had the highest popularity). This was due to Reboot being essentially F2P (I'll get back to this later). Players of the other 7-8 worlds would suffer tremendously because they genuinely used IRL money to roll for certain stats! and to statistically get your desired stats costed so much!! Reboot had it easy as we were using the ingame currency we'd grind/boss for, but it still hurt (with the amount of rolls it takes).
    • Flames: similar to Cups in BDO, but imagine that the cups would provide you with different stats and different figures. Example would be like adding +0-+10 acurracy, +0-+10 DR, +0-+10 Crit dmg, and etc. Sorry if this doesn't make sense.
    • I was drafting this in mid-February and it's funny how Niru (highest level player) has recently halted his levelling to 300 due to issues with P2W worlds/servers.
  • Surprise surprise! Nexon was discreetly investigated by Korea's Federal Trade Committee for the next 2 to 3 years and it would come to light that the Flaming system wasn't the only one that was rigged. It turns out - Cubes were also rigged! And similar to flaming, cubes would also cost IRL money to use.
  • Because of these two scandals, it would come to light again that Nexon had actually introduced Dynamic RNG. Whether this is true or not - you can't really tell based on their history. What does Dynamic RNG mean exactly? It means exatly how it's said. The RNG would dynamically change based on certain parameters.
    • Example: you don't have a lot of friends in your buddy list. Let's give you a hidden higher chance of hitting a PEN BlackStar. This will give you motivation to play the game. Or, this player has been playing BDO non-stop. Looks like they're addicted - let's add a hidden reduction in their percentage so they're more likely to stay on longer.
  • There were only two ways of making money - grinding and bossing.
    • Every week you would get a limit of how many bossing crystals you could sell (bosses drop crystals). This would mean that after you had completed bossing on your main, you would make bossing mules and make them stronger. Eventually, you have a whole legion of bossing mules and it was a never ending cycle. FOMO was real.
    • Grinding was no fun either. At the time I was playing, you would be limited to totems (I think it was about 32 a month). These totems would increase the spawn rate of monsters on your map (increase in earnings) and would only last about 2 hours. Every time you would pop them (at least in my case), I felt like I was stuck to my computer for the whole 2 hour duration. No breaks. To add to this, buffs had actually disappeared when you logged out, so that's definitely not an option! Oh, and did I mention - there were only 20 channels available for you. So if you logged out (even for 30 seconds), your map would be taken. No DFS if there's no PVP.
  • Segway to money making - Korea MapleStory has introduced a restriction into the game after the whole fiasco about rigging Cubes. The restriction is to limit the amount of ingame currency you can grind for in Reboot. Why? No clue.
    • Again, I wrote this back in February, but it's so strange looking back at this again. They had only recently announced that Global Maple Story (so not Korean Maple Story) has not and will not receive this nerf... and the community is ecstatic that they can still play the game the way it is. Copium is real - especially from the outisde perspective.
  • 2 PC Meta. This was almost essential. Kanna is a class that had a skill where you could permanently increase the spawn rate of the map - similar to the limited totem item. In order to maximise efficiency in both money and levels, you would have a laptop alongside your main PC to buff your map while your grinding.
  • GMS (Global MapleStory) updates and events follow exactly as per Korea MapleStory after 6 MONTHS (or was it 3). Either way, imagine getting a god damn event or class balance update every 3-6 months... BDO do be eating good on a weekly update basis.
  • Remember how I mentioned earlier about how I had 4 pitched-boss equipment and was headed towards 6? What are pitched-boss equipment? A great example would be like getting a Garmoth's Heart but as a piece of equipment instead. This equipment, based on the enhancing system - can actually boom after a certain threshhold. Imagine.. a piece of equipment that you can probably get once every 6 months to a year.. and there's a whole RNG system on top of that. Disgusting.
  • MapleStory's enhancing system. Unlike BDO with accessories breaking, everything in MapleStory can break. Good fun. You'd want to aim for 22 stars. Enhancement rates from 15 stars to 22 stars are as so:
    • 15* > 16*: 30% success, 67.9% fail & 2.1% destruction
    • 16* > 17*: 30% success, 67.9% fail & 2.1% destruction
    • 17* > 18*:30% success, 67.9% fail & 2.1% destruction
    • 18* > 19*: 30% success, 67.2% fail & 2.8% destruction
    • 19* > 20*: 30% success, 67.2% fail & 2.8% destruction
    • 20* > 21*: 30% success, 63.0% fail & 7.0% destruction
    • 21* > 22*: 30% success, 63.0% fail & 7.0% destruction
    • 22* > 23*: 3.0% success, 77.6% fail & 19.4% destruction
  • MapleStory lacks group content that is worth anything. There are bosses you can do as a group, but that's as far as group content goes.
  • Costumes in BDO can be bought with pearls or off the central market - easy. In Maplestory, you have to buy these things called PBBS boxes. Imagine it's like our version of gamba boxes. Obviously, the best looking ones are the rarest and they cost about $5.00 PER BOX OPENING FOR A SINGLE PIECE! A PIECE!! You like the Kibelius Divinus Set? Well too bad - they're all broken into their individual pieces and mixed in with 7 other costume sets. Goodluck rolling for each piece to finally get the full set :)
  • Changing servers in BDO has a 5 minute cooldown. MapleStory crashes upon changing servers.
  • Going into the Pearl Shop is relatively smooth. Maplestory crashes upon entering cash shop.
  • That Bugatti outfit that was released in BDO - imagine if it gave stats and was the BiS item you could get in the game.. and obviously since it's not available anymore - it's a Legacy Item. MapleStory is full of these and it genuinely separates the newcomers to the veterans in terms of gear.
  • BDO offers Guild Skills and so does MapleStory. However, Maplestory guild skills provided you with at LEAST 30% more overall damage. The guild skill cooldowns did not tick down when you were logged out. Had a really strong boss and you were going to fight it with others? Too bad, your guild skills were on CD. Time to wait 60 minutes. Oh, you've failed the boss? 60 minutes. Oh, your MapleStory crashed? 60 mintues.
  • Might be more of a who you can trust in-game sort of ordeal, but when you're bossing as a party and that boss happens to drop a pitched-boss... depending on the agreement, it can either be someone who has been delegated to pick it up, anyone who blinks the furthest to pick it up or you'll straight up have a ninja snatch that up. Remember, you can be bossing for 6 months to a year and not get one.
  • Remember when I talked about F2P in Reboot? Way way wayy back in the day, MapleStory used to have players who hacked. You know how your pet in BDO scurries to the loot to pick it up? MapleStory does the same. But, imagine your pet in BDO vacuuming up all of the loot - literally pulling all the loot towards the pet for pickup. Well, Maplestory had banned this as it was against the game's ToS. I believe it was about early 2020 when they had introduced a pet that would do this same thing. It would vacuum all the loot at the price of $100.00 at first purchase and $15.00 per month to keep it alive. Mind you, this pet was essential for maximising your profits when grinding.
    • to add more context, it's way worse in MapleStory. It's a 2D game, so the pets follow right behind you. The loot would only be picked up on the ground when you had walked across it. That's why vacuuming would actually increase your efficiency as you didn't have to walk everywhere on the map for looting.
Context for the Maplers
Sorry this is long, but here goes BDO ups and downs:
  • Treasure items are the best. Gives me motivation outside of my gear to grind for.
  • Lifeskilling is a great alternative to grinding. The money isn't the best, but it is a lot more enjoyable at times and a great change of pace.
  • Open-world is actually open world? No loading screens? Holy..
  • Combat
  • PVP is fun! I haven't delved too much into it, but I see it as my late-game content. I'll get there when I'm ready.
  • BDO has so much opportunity with their sea content.
  • Weekly class updates and events. Weekly!
  • Continuous involvement from the CMs and their playerbase. Genuinely appreciate this a lot.
  • CMs involvement with streamers as well!
  • I've only seen streams of it, but node wars and guild wars genuinely look so fun. Reminds me of Ragnarok Online and how there were WOEs. Anyone remember that? Good ol' times.
  • Bossing Shrine! If I weren't so traumatised by MapleStory - I think I would like it wayyy more.
  • Garmoth's pity heart system? Is it even pity if it's as rare as the heart?
  • BDO can minimise and still operate. I know - it's minimal, but it's nice.
  • Worker empire. Love researching into it and changing it every quarter or so (based on my progression).
  • PA attempting to make the new player experience better and more simpler. They've also recently catered to the late game player base with end-game grind zones. Amazing!
  • Weight.. Farms.. Value Pack, Old moon & Kama Blessing.. Cooking & Farming costume.. yeah not so fun... I guess they have to make their money somehow...
  • Slider. IYKYK.
  • House and Manor content. I had only recently decorated my house with the free furniture that had been supplied over the past year. Genuinely had so much fun customising my house. There's so much opportunity here for PA imo.
  • More group content! Me want here. Me want now!
With achieving most of the grindable treasures, I've recently been quite lost as to what to do. I still grind and lifeskill, but I've slowed down quite significantly. I would love to do Olun's more often. Would people have any suggestions on how I can get onto that more often? I've attempted to join 2-3 guilds now, but have found them to be quite inactive (with intent on joining active ones...).
What are my goals now?
  • Olun's Rich Merchant's Ring Piece
  • 29,999 quests completed
  • 650 Energy
  • Guru 2X for Gathering, Guru 50 for Hunting, Cooking, Alchemy, Processing, Guru X on Training and Farming
  • Carrack
  • 1 T10 Horse
If there's anything else I can work on, please feel free to comment and let me know. I'm extremely proud of my achievements and just wanted to share my opinions, experience and achievements! Again, sorry about the super long post but I hope you had a good read :)
TLDR; BDO great game. MapleStory bad game. My progression just over a year on BDO.

Transmog is Essential - a Hopeful Letter to AH
Bought a cool outfit? Well, you'll suffer if you want to wear it...
(Discussion and open letter to AH, happy to hear other views!)
Quick definition - Transmog just means choosing your character's outfit/appearance separately to their equipment/stats.
Specifically it refers to when you lay a different appearance over the top of a piece of armor, but it's functionally the same as separating the two - having outfits which are cosmetic, and having equipment which is invisible (like boosters and stratagems are), and affects your stats without compromising appearance. When I use transmog in this post, all I mean is being able to wear equipment without compromising our looks - the specific implementation can be any which way!
Many games do this across many genres; Helldivers 1, Outriders, Destiny, Dauntless, Warframe, AC Odyssey, AC Valhalla, WoW, Monster Hunter etc. They have varying levels of freedom, with Helldivers 1/Outriders/Odyssey having the most.

Why Transmog?

This is one player's hopeful letter to Arrowhead.
In a third-person game, you spend a significant amount of time seeing your character - especially in HD2, where the main menu is the in-game environment of your Super Destroyer!
For many players, having that character look good is a key source of enjoyment whilst playing the game. Customising your character, and seeing that character do awesome stuff (or hilarious ragdolls/deaths) in-game, is fantastic.
For me personally, working towards earning new customisation options, such as armor, helmets and color palettes is a lot of fun and a key driver that keeps me engaged with a game. And spending super credits on exciting new outfits would be fun, if it were possible (more on this further on).

Play Good OR Look Good? Why Not Both?

It was therefore pretty deflating to see the unexpected response from u/Pilestedt regarding transmog on Twitter.
For starters, this is Arrowhead's game and I respect whatever executive decisions they make. I chose to pay $40 for the game as-is at launch, and our customer-producer relationship technically ended there.
But as a live service game, I know there's a chance for it to become even better - and I write this in the hope that this might just happen!
Pilestedt's reasoning was that people want to look at their squadmate's armor and know what perks they have. He also says the reason they look different is "because it has different effects". I disagree strongly with this particular reasoning because;
  • Arrowhead did not design sets such that their perk strongly, clearly, and/or always matches their aesthetic. The EOD armor doesn't protect against explosive damage. Some sets have grenades strapped to them, and do *not* supply additiona grenades - etc.
  • Many armor sets have the same perk as each other, despite having entirely different appearances.
  • Helmets and Capes look different to each other, but do not have different functions.
  • With the high number of sets in the game, it will only be a significant minority of players who care to memorise all of them. This effect will be further enhanced as more sets are introduced.
  • Squadmate's perks and movespeed don't affect you much, and most players don't care about them. What matters are your squadmate's strategems, and these are shown to us in the UI. The perks and movespeed are only important to the player themselves.
Based on the last point, I think a simple UI icon for the perk (like stratagems have) would be
  1. A more effective way of showing what perks/speed your squadmates have, for those players who do care
  2. The way to introduce enjoyable character customisation and Superstore engagement by separating stats from appearance
  3. More memorable (since there are fewer perks than sets), and actually drive players to pay attention to what perks their squadmates are running, if that is what u/Pilestedt wishes.

Furthermore, Helldivers 1 already did this. Armor sets were purely cosmetic and did not penalise you. It is entirely possible for this to work, and to make the game more fun for everybody!

Transmog and the Economy

I mention having paid $40 for the game.
I think that's woefully underpriced.
I've long intended to begin giving Arrowhead a regular stream of 'donations' by purchasing Super Credits to collect every single set from the Superstore.
But right now, if I buy one of my favourite great looking outfits with Super Credits, the game will technically punish me for making that purchase - by reducing my movespeed from 550 to 450. That's a huge barrier to making that decision, right?
To rephrase - if I want to enjoy customising my character, and support the devs in doing so, they will nerf my movespeed by a very notable 18%.
Of course not every armor is heavy, but a ~9% nerf for the mediums is also noticeable enough to take away the fun for me. Most of my fellow transmog advocates were concerned about the perks over the movespeed, which I thought was interesting. I agree perks should be separate to outfits of course, it's a no-brainer. But I'm used to making reasonable sacrifices to look good in a game - I've played the Souls games, afterall. Nerfing movespeed, however, is just too far for it to stay fun. I can't even use my own pre-order bonus because it'll nerf my movespeed! 😜
Luckily the response to Pilestedt's tweet was overwhelmingly in favour of transmog (or similar separation of aesthetics from equipment stats) - and I hope the team sees all the great feedback they've been given, as it will benefit both the players' enjoyment and the game's success.
Successfully adding transmog, the Superstore will see a boom in popularity, and Super Credits sales will rise. Currently there's no reason to buy any cool outfit that will negatively impact gameplay - and conversely, there's no reason for the stat-focused players to buy anything other than the subset of perks they need for a handful of loadouts.
With transmog, this improves vastly. Suddenly each armor would offer two things: its outfit/appearance, and its stats. There would be reason for fashion-focused players to buy Super Credits in order to collect every set in the game, and try out new styles to combo with different helms and capes! Plus, it'd open up the possibility to give helms and capes stats without damaging customisation, tripling the amount of choice that the stat-focused players have. It's a win for everybody and increases interest in the in-game rewards from all perspectives.
It even provides a long-lasting source of player-driven social media presence. HD2 certainly doesn't lack that right now, but one of the wonderful areas that keeps a game alive in its later years is its fashion community. From Fashionframe to Fashion Souls to Elden Bling etc., these communities come together to share and discuss their various customisation options in the game, keeping up interest and attracting more players as they go.
And finally, the sense of community and camaraderie. I'm never going to look at a fellow Helldiver and say 'ah, nice +2 stim perk I guess.' But you bet I'll look at someone with an awesome helm, armor and cape combo and say 'fellow freedom enjoyer, your helldrip is awesome'. A hug emote later and our mission has just got that much better.
It'll be great to see more variety, as Helldivers could finally use any of the armors they've earned, and we can see how our fellow divers express themselves.
The talented concept artists, 3D modellers, textures/materials artists etc. at Arrowhead have created a beautiful and diverse set of outfits which could feel fantastic to play around with - if they didn't negatively impact gameplay. It would be such a shame for many of those amazing armor designs to continue not seeing the light of day.
So please, AH, reconsider separating stats from aesthetics. Let your artists' hard work go to good use!

A Question

What do you think? Should we be able to customise our outfits separately to our stats?
Or should we have to choose between either looks or stats, and if so, then why? What does that add to the game?

2024.04.08 23:16 Signal_Specialist867 20 things I would advise you to do or consider, post my 12 day trip to Iceland.

I'm now on my last day in Iceland, after a 12 day trip. I spent 2 months researching on Facebook, Instagram, google, YouTube, blogs, and ofc Reddit - learnt a ton, experienced a ton and now sharing back. Bear with all the 20 things, I do list things I wished I did differently or things I would cover on my next trip too.
  1. Driving vs day tours: 2 members out of 4 in group could drive, however we opted for day tours out of Reykjavik. We were in Reykjavik 7 nights. The day tours we did were Golden circle, Silver Circle, Snaefellness Peninsula, Silfra Snorkelling, South Coast. We did 1 full day of Reykjavik sight seeing (includes whale watch and lava show) and 1 free day for serendipitously walking around town and photographing the murals everywhere, the birds, eating at the cafes etc.
Now why day tours? Despite ability to drive being present, through all the day tours we saw tons of cars that slipped off the road or were abandoned recently due to accidents. I had read about this and the challenge is - if the weather is good, there's nothing like driving yourself. But if the weather is terrible - you're stuck. Our day tour drivers monitored road conditions all day, took us through detours when there were temporary road closures, drove safely on roads marked slippery / icy, found us washroom stops regularly and we had the added advantage of looking out the window and enjoying, instead of having to worry at all about weather or the long hours driving. Just take a book or a neck pillow if you're worried about long hours.
  1. Things that felt more offbeat - the stops on different tours I really REALLY liked were Svartifoss - a waterfall that was half frozen and half flowing. vidgelmir cave that takes you inside these lava caves with a head torch and helmet, and you see stalactites and stalagmites. Barnafoss was an unreal blue. Arnastapi had these lava rock formations and a million seagulls in colonies by the cliffs which made braving the 50kmph wind worth it.
  2. Book whale watching and northern lights early on In your trip. Check that your companies booked offer retries if you don't see the lights with your naked eye or if you don't see whales. We saw the lights excellently the first attempt. Ridiculously excellently (and I've seen the lights elsewhere a few times). We never saw the whales in Akureyri with Elding whale watching so they gave us a retry voucher which we used with their company in Reykjavik, and we didn't see it there either but we got another voucher to use anytime in 2 years. While we didn't see the whales, we got two sunny boat rides and in akureyri they offer unlimited hot chocolate on the boat!
  3. Do the north. We booked flights to Akureyri. 35 mins. More expensive that driving or a bus, but this last week, nearly every post we read of folks in akureyri got stuck before entering it or after entering it, and we flew in fine, spent 3 nights there and flew out fine. Sometimes when you are spending a lot on your travel, an extra 100 eur helps save the trip. Also, the weather was clear skies both days when flying, so the views between Reykjavik to akureyri and back were like flying a drone all over the country. We would never have had that vantage point driving.
  4. See the volcano live! Now I never book helicopter tours, let's face it - they're ridiculously expensive for a short duration. However as the volcano is currently erupting, you can no longer hike to see it. No you cannot see it from blue lagoon (and we didn't want to take the risk with the gas level there, which while safe seems suspect). We did see it a bit in the distance when flying in. However I booked a 35 min flight with Reykjavik helicopters and was one of 5 passengers. I had the side window seat for all 35 mins and the view I saw, I will never forget in my lifetime. You fly right over the volcano and 3 to 4 times around it from the left or right. That's enough time to take photos. Videos. A slow Mo. A time lapse. A zoomed 30x shot. Etc etc. you get my drift. You get to see up close the lava splashing outside and solidying from orange to that blackish brown hue.
Now note - you see active volcanoes in only 3 countries if my knowledge is correct. Iceland. Hawaii. And I've already forgotten the third - new Zealand? Chances of you being there when there's an active eruption and seeing it this close is absolute luck. So I booked a tour the night before I did it, and it was worth the expense. I will save up on not eating outdoors when I go back home, for the next few months to make up for the unexpected cost.
How to make the best of the volcano visit? See the webcam before you book. It's live. You can see what you'd expect to see when you fly over it, and if it looks real splashy and active, take a call on if that's what you want to photograph. They also landed on the 2021 volcano eruption site and we walked on that, the ground is still warm years after the volcano has 'calmed down a bit' but the rocks and ground emit heat and steam. That was again exceptional. Moral of the story - do it!!
  1. Crampons? - not really needed if you have a good hiking shoe but if you have someone elderly, take one of those slip on ones. We had decathlon waterproof hiking shoes that cost 30 eur. Worked fine 11 days including thick snow and ice. However the 1 day our tour guide gave us crampons - the slip on ones - when the ground was icy and wind was 50kmph, I felt I could walk faster and just generally more peace of mind as I wasn't worried as much about ice. But this is to say, you can do without them too in most places. If you're on a glacier, the company you're with will anyway give you one.
  2. Layers. I got tons of merino wool layers. A think tank top. A wool tshirt. A full sleeve wool tshirt. A sweater. A jacket that's meant to help you survive -10 if you layer well. I was warm and toasty even on a day when it was feels like -24 in Akureyri. And the advantage of layers is, you can remove the top most or any of the ones under if you're too warm.
Gloves - I had this silk glove and on that a Woolen glove with fleece inside it. This is something I've owned for years and helps keep you really warm when the wind is 50kmph but you really must get that photo in front of the waterfall. Or it's crazy biting cold, but you only see the aurora once. What I would do next time: carry those Woolen gloves where you can remove the finger tips to use the phone. Mine were touch screen friendly, but really when seeing auroras or seals, you get a split second sometimes to shoot and you don't want to waste it fiddling with touchscreen gloves. And removing gloves will make your hands or fingers numb eventually.
Socks - thick Woolen socks. Didn't need to double up on any day except the northern lights tour.
  1. Book small group tours. Most of our tours had a Max of 19 but many days we had like 10 people. This was good. More ad hoc stops. Less chatter in the bus. Less worrying about too many folks trying to hog that one picture spot Instagram made famous. Less waiting for people. You can check on viator or trip advisor what is the max capacity. We saw some buaes that were maybe 20 eur cheaper with 40 people on it.
Also, book direct with tour companies -- many gave discounts for booking directly with them and not viator / get your guide / trip advisor.
  1. Lava show - worth doing it if you don't have any plans to fly / hike and see the volcano. Found it educational and glad I booked it on day 1 so that we could understand more about lava when we did all the subsequent day trips. Also the premium tour gives you a lava rock to take home, a cocktail / mocktail / a seat upstairs and not downstairs. I booked this because we had a cold day in the morning so I knew my group would want comfort. But you're okay to book non premium too, you won't miss out much really. You can even see and buy the lava peace if you really really really want it.
  2. Spotting the auroras. Please book a small group tour for this one, even if you didn't for the others. Reason: bigger tours, you'll have a dozen people unaware that their torch light of the phone being on helps them see the ground but ruins everyone else's northern lights photos. 2. If you don't have a car, yes you can see it from Reykjavik and the lighthouse but it's bloody cold if you stand by the lighthouse on a windy day. The small group tours give you refillable hot chocolate and the chance to sit in the van for 5 to warm up. 3. They take you to more than 1 spot. Our van took us to 4 spots so we got the auroras against lakes, snow, trees, mountains, middle of the road in a national park etc etc.
Now if you're new to aurora hunting, somethings to know - KP index is important, but not the end of the world. I've seen the aurora in akureyri when the index was 0.67 with my naked eye, from the apartment we were in. Albeit for like 3 mins before it vanished and never appeared. But it's possible. What is more critical is cloud cover. The aurora app is ridiculously accurate and I've used it in 3 countries with success. Monitor the app and book a tour only if the cloud cover is less than 50% atleast a 1 hour drive away. If the cloud cover is 80% even if you drive 1 hour, then even a northern lights tour company can't do much but give you a retry or cancel. See the aurora map. Green on the map means clouds not Green auroras 😂.
If you're aware there's a geo magnetic storm - you're in luck. If you can see stars that night, you're in luck as that means it's a clear night. We saw it April 1 in akureyri and April 6 in Thingvellir national park amongst other spots with the tour company. Also out tour company aurora Vikings also gave us Viking gear to wear (swords, shields, axes, fake fur capes) that made the pictures SO fun. They also took professional pictures with their camera and shared them at no additional cost, so we had like 15 professional photos of members of my group. Which was lovely, as our phones did a wonderful job of the northern lights but their photos did a wonderful job capturing us with the northern lights, and quickly, so we could focus most on the lights .
Lastly - carry a phone tripod. The google pixel phones and the iPhone 13 pro max both capyure it well. On the pixel, shoot still photos on night mode (change the exposure to 6 seconds) OR if you wanna do really cool astrophotography photos and videos, put it on a small selfie stick tripod, put it on night mode on 1x zoom, and wait a few seconds, the moon sign changes to astrophotography and when you click it, it takes a long exposure video / moving photo for 4 minutes and 12 seconds.
  1. Do diamond beach vs reynisfjara beach if you're going to the south. You see 50+ seals in the lagoon, and the icebergs on the beach is pretty cool and unique. You also see Europe's largest glacier. If you can do both do both, but if you have to pick a tour that does 1, then pick the one with diamond beach. We went with Gateway to Iceland.
  2. Food - Bonus and Kronan are your discount supermarkets available everywhere. Bonus is cheap but less variety. Kronan was my fave. Tons of variety and not really a huge difference in price from bonus, unless you did some real fancy shopping. Netto is good, but here you can sometimes feel the price difference if you do a big shop. So pick Kronan for that.
  3. (I'm superstitious and skipping 13) - please read up on drone rules. I own one, familiar with checking national park rules and where you can't fly one. But it was annoying to see people flying drones so close to groups of people or in places you aren't allowed to fly one. Don't be that person. If you want some cool photos in places it's not allowed - get a permit. I'm sure the ones I saw were without one, as no person who goes to the trouble of paperwork, flies it so close to someone's head.
  4. Check road conditions - road.is was exceptionally helpful even with our day tours. I had one free day planned and everytime is saw road closures, I could see the webcam, and swap my tours around on different dates, to ensure we didn't miss anything. I haven't seen any other country where the roads condition is so well documented all day everyday. I wish my country had it. Also roads sometimes close for 30 mins and sometimes for 7 days. So keep monitoring it.
  5. Things I missed doing - Icelandic horses: will go horse riding next time but we saw tons, puffins - saw 3 from my boat whale watching but will visit may to June to see thousands of them (I've seen hundreds in Ireland and Wales before so we were okay skipping it for this visit, but they're too cute so I'd love to see them in Iceland too). I didn't do katla cave or crystal blue ice but I'll do all them next time. I did not do the absolute east - gotta save something so you visit again. Dettifoss - Europe's largest or something waterfall: the roads were closed so we missed this.
Things I didn't regret missing: that DC plane that Justin Bieber and shahrukh khan made famous.
  1. Vegetarians - you will find food everywhere. God bless the vegans, as thanks to them you get tons of veggie food everywhere. I was most worried about veg food availability at a high price but this wasn't the case. Also try the soup in a bread roll at Icelandic street food in Reykjavik. And if in Vik, try black crust pizzeria. The entire pizza base Is black..no it's not lava nor is it burnt. Their toppings and the pizza was ridiculously delicious, and the same price that I get dominos pizza for anywhere in Europe, but 3x better.
  2. Colours - okay this will sound so juvenile but I'll still say it. If you are going to snowy places and really care about your photos popping, wear a yellow or bright blue or bright red jacket. Yes, it sounds silly. But boy do the photos look stunning just because of the contrast. This is not a deal breaker. Just one of those things I never did, and always wondered why others photos stood out so well. Yes yes, some folks edit theirs, but I'm talking about photos naturally looking stunning.
  3. You can't do everything on one trip. We tried lol. But you'll want to come back another season anyway, so prioritise. We prioritised glaciers (they're melting and changing everyday y'know) and volcanoes. Some of the constant stuff you can see again
  4. Ignore all of the above and just have fun - it doesn't matter how much you research or what you pick. You'll love it. You'll enjoy it. Any trip you plan and take will be special. So don't worry about FOMO. Just be sensible about planning and not arriving in the middle of a snowstorm and wondering why flipflops and a tshirt is a bad idea, and you'll be fine. Don't worry which hot spring is better than the other. They're all good. They're all different in different ways. Sometimes your plans won't go to plan, don't worry - move on and do something else, there's so much to choose from and so much that's bookable at the last minute.
Some bonus tips that you read on all posts but I'll mention anyway - you don't need cash at all anywhere. We did withdraw some, but that's cause I'm into numismatics and like collecting coins (and notes). You also don't tip anywhere - we did tip one tour guide once, as he customised the group tour to include 1-2 requests I had basis photostops I wanted to stop at, which were on the route but not on the original tour package and ours wasn't a private tour. Some cafes I see have a tip jar, but they don't really have a tipping culture and I'm not originally from a country that tips either except for exceptional service.
That's it - this was a long write up but I hope it helps some of you.

2024.04.06 16:56 blacksteveman A year into MTB; Thoughts, Feedback and Advice.

Some background, I am 33m that came over from the road/gravel world (casual rider) and was into BMX when I was way younger. I always liked the idea of mountain biking but access to trails were limited and other types of bikes made more sense. Moved to TX Hill Country for work and found myself around lots of mountain biking trails so I took the plunge. Its been a solid year of riding now and wanted to share my experience so far.
Overall, I am happy that I got into mountain biking. It has made me more fit, I have fun riding the trails. The sense of exploration is real, as my skills increase, it opens up more and more trails to ride. I am more excited at the prospect of going to different states/areas and biking there, next time I visit family in PHX, I am bringing my bike. I have made some friends on the trails, which is useful for being new to an area. I try to go out riding at least 2 times a week now, I find that enough to keep progressing.
TLDR: Get a bike that you want to ride and go ride it. Dont get upset at defeat, remount and move on. Small incremental gains, both in skill and fitness. Dont compare yourself to others, just who you were. Wear a helmet and glasses, you still may get hurt, but minimize risk where you can. Have fun, enjoy the adventure, make some friends.

2024.03.29 15:32 SithJahova Should You buy Dragon's Dogma 2 (A post for the Undecided)

(IF you want a TL:DR you can just read the paragraphs that start like A), B) etc.) and are of interest to you)
As with any big release you will have probably come across some content from this game and are wondering if this game is worth the money for you. I saw a handful of comments on here from people who said the lack of depth of the romance system is the reason they won’t get this game. While I understand we all have different preferences to which game mechanics are important to us - the way that some of these comments were phrased made me realise some of you appear to be under the impression that this game is similar to Dragon Age or Baldur's Gate in terms of gameplay. It is not. Nor is it trying to be.
So, I am making this lengthy post for anyone new to the series.
Before that let me just say, if you have played Dragon's Dogma/Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen I can make it simple for you. DD2 is insanely similar to its predecessors, warts and all. If you were hoping for a polished version of mechanics you have come to know and love, wait until it's on sale. If you wanna play your old favourite - but with gorgeous graphics (and they are amazing) then go for it.
First things first, the setting (no spoilers or details, this is just to make you understand the following paragraphs.
A) Setting: Every player has their own world, interlinked with others through rifts kind of like a multiverse. In all worlds and times, it is a common occurrence for a dragon to show up and torment whatever locales it chooses to inhabit. Every dragon has one person (the player) to be an "Arisen": the dragon's mortal enemy who will be the one to slay the drake - both through their own abilities and with the help of the local armies - in this game that of a human country and a beastren one (kind of like Elder Scrolls Khajit) and a legion of "pawns" - the closest confidants of previous and other Arisens. The story has some impressive cutscenes and does occasionally have its moments and very occasionally it hints at becoming really good but it never sticks the landing. The pacing is not ideal - I believe the common consensus of people who have finished the game was "I thought I was halfway done with the story, and then it ended”. I am about halfway through the story so I can't attest to that...wait. If I think I am halfway through the story, does that mean I almost finished it? Oh damn...well, the game can’t end if I have it paused and write lengthy reddit posts instead.
Now that that's out of the way, let me start by pointing out the key ingredient to what makes DD unique:
B) Pawns:
Every player character gets one Pawn. This character can be customised just like the player character, given a personality inclination (calm, straightforward etc.) and given a vocation (fighting style) although not all vocations available to the player will be available to the Pawn. Pawns are AI controlled but here's the key ingredient: They learn and adapt from and to the player's behaviour. I am an absolute hoarder, my pawn was greatly annoyed by this at first but guess who now runs ahead to pick all the apple trees and corpses (even in combat...might have botched my role as educator here)? They adapt to combat as well, remember strengths and weaknesses of enemies you discovered, remind you and employ techniques based on them. They remember treasures and gathering spots, they will remark on story and plot decisions you made based on how you have shaped them. You will travel in a band of 4: You, Your Pawn and 2 Pawns from other players. Your pawn will be travelling through other worlds as well while you are online where they can be hired by other players which is where it gets really fun - other players will see the nonsense you have caused in your pawn or get to admire what you have managed. I hired one pawn that - despite being a Mage (healing/support class) wouldn't stop picking up smaller enemies and "delivering" them to me like a pizza and when I ignored them, she carried them to the nearest cliff to throw them down. Very funny but holy hell was she useless - her player must have been having the time of their life though. And some pawns are judgemental as hell and will tell you funny titbits. I am pretty sure one of my hired pawns slut-shamed her Arisen. This multiplayer aspect does occasionally have some downsides however:
B-) Pawn Downsides:
I'll get to the point quickly here: There is a good deal of porn addicts who play this game. It's rather awkward when you see another player's pawn walking up to you trying to get hired like "I am great at finding ingredients, Arisen" like yeah BUT FIND SOME PANTS FIRST. In my experience it's not the majority of pawns but there are more pretty human women than any other race/gender and from those I'd say a third will be dressed in whatever the skimpiest outfit for their vocation is and usually have...interesting body proportions. There is no way to avoid them completely other than playing offline which imo would take a lot of the fun out of it.
It's also awkward that there is a possibility for the players to undress your own pawn, I modelled my own pawn after Liliana Vess (feel free to google her if you're not familiar) and she often comes back from her adventures telling me the Arisen she went to was strangely into changing her equipment and considering I gave her good, upgraded gear...
Another possible downside is the Dragon plague, mind you: I LOVE this mechanic. It's one of my favourite gaming innovations in the past years and I am unashamed to say I think y'all haters can suck it. BRING BACK THE SIMS BURGLAR, BRING BACK RESETTI, GIVE NUKES TO GHANDI- Raise those stakes. But now for the uninformed: When battling a dragon your pawns have a chance to get infected by a sickness, their behaviour will change, slowly at first and then they become unruly and eventually outright mean and their eyes turn red. I am not 100% sure what exactly happens then as it hasn't happened to me but from what I can tell the plague spreads to NPCs which will eventually wipe out your world's population. (Did hear it isn't permanent though) You can "cure" the plague by drowning your pawn (you can get them back at a riftstone). And the plague spreads through pawns to other players - so you can get it by hiring an infected pawn. Some people hate this mechanic so I thought I'd include it here.
C) Combat
I find it hard to put into words just how much I am enamoured with the fights - at least some of them (more on that in the next point) so I will just paint the picture by giving an account of my last fight in the game: I was fighting a cyclops, things were going well, I shot an explosive arrow to the enemy's face that ripped off his helmet, My Pawn hit him with an ice attack that formed a ramp I could race up and jump onto the cyclops arm, clambering up until I reached his head, my character took out an arrow and started repeatedly jamming it into his eye until he went into a rage. My character jumps backwards, firing arrows as she spirals downwards but he manages to grab her and smash her into the nearest rock, and as my character struggles to regain her senses - I grow panicked but then: the 3rd pawn - a melee character rams her sword into the cyclops' heel which send him reeling and the 4th pawn has rushed to my side helping me up. My main pawn has now conjured up an ice storm that envelops the entire battle. As my visions grows dim from the whirling snow and I start following the sounds from my headset as the giant suddenly fades into my line of sight - the melee pawn in hand but: completely iced over. This is my chance so my character drops to her knee to line up a devastating shot and as her stamina depletes as it charges up the cyclops begins to melt, the epic music grows louder as he gets free and starts to roar - I fire and the game goes into slow motion as he falls to the ground and his scream goes silent.
I had a ton of fights as good, but non EXACTLY like it, because they aren't scripted. They're not cutscenes, not quick-time events, there was no "Now press X to mount the monster and press Y to this", no "do a barrel roll until you get an attack window of opportunity" all of the moves happening from my character where mine to make. I chose to jump on the enemy (honestly there isn’t really a point for archers to do this I just think it looks cool lmao) I could have climbed onto any part of him, maybe hit his hand until he drops his weapon, or his leg so he falls down but I didn't feel like it. When I jumped off, I pressed the button to jump, and the direction to jump into- every arrow I fired as I fell I chose to fire, that pawn that rushed to my aid I had chosen for the inclination to be attentive to my character, The melee pawn was trained by another player to knock over this enemy. It feels special, unique - epic even. Like they were truly MY accomplishments and not just the game railroading me into a cinematic experience and all of this while still looking cinematic. Honestly just have a look of some gameplay footage and tell me those fights don't look amazing, But alass, the big guys aren't the only enemies looking to get beaten up.
C-) Combat Downsides
A lot players are disappointed by enemy variety, but I only agree in terms of the big guys. Especially as a returning player, there are almost no new monsters to fight, there are 5 common big monsters, usually with one or two variations within its species that can be found all over the game world. but 3 of them have a very similar vibe to them. There's two (or 3, I dunno, I haven’t finished the game) more unique bosses.
There are tons more smaller enemies, but THIS is where a big problem stems from - see, I KNOW that these smaller enemies have a lot of variety to them despite what many other players are saying, but I know that, because I started sneaking up on them to avoid combat and then observed them, so I know that there are types of goblins that will play piggy in the middle with their torches, some of them have little parties, some plan ambushes and I really mean PLAN them, like they get together have a little chat and then all go to respective hiding places, occasionally peeking out to see what’s up, these behaviours appear to be unique to different sub-types of goblins recognisable by their looks and gear. And this same level of variety can be found in all the other enemy types as well but...why? I mean seriously...WHY THE HELL would Capcom put so much resources into these enemies - they are cannonfodder the lot of them. We run from one group of goblins into the next and each time my pawn cries out "We don't have the means to exploit our enemies’ weakness!" Liliana, my dearest, a gust of wind is this enemy's weakness. As it was with any other enemy group we encountered. Small enemies are so weak to virtually everything as soon as your character has levelled up a handful of times (probably around lvl 10 I'd say) that there is simply no point in remembering any form of strategy to them, so every player just does what is easiest to them, all fights blend together and you never realise you didn’t just fight the same enemy over and over. Those goblins might have had dreams and aspirations - but in the end, an arrow to the knee was all it took, may they be reborn as Skyrim guards.
Now on to the aspects that are more common and can be more easily compared to other RPGS:
D) Vocation
You will start with 4 Vocations to choose from: Mage (Mostly Support Magic), Archer (Normal bows), Fighter (Sword + Shield), Thief (Daggers). Over the course of the game, you can unlock 6 more. You cannot equip items not meant for your vocation (some gear can be worn by multiple or even other classes though. Every vocation gets skills (like being able to fire multiple arrows at once, planting an explosive, spitting out fire etc.), core abilities (passive things like thieves can get an ability that will have them sometimes get stuff from the enemy’s inventory while they attack) and Augmentations (passive things that can be acquired by levelling up a vocation and then changing to another voc. but still keep that passive, like having a better defence to magic).
4 Skills can be equipped at the same time, they can be changed at every Inn and at camp. Vocation can be changed at some Inns and Vocation guilds - so keep gear you find even when it doesn’t match your or your pawns vocation at the moment, you might wanna try it out later.
Vocations also impact Exploration. Mages and Sorcerers can levitate, and get to spots others cannot reach, Thieves can double jump, Occasionally there will be obstacles that I have seen get destroyed by both Warriors and Sorcerers. I have shot open doors with explosive arrows...although I genuinely always wonder if the game knows I can do that...really awkward walking through caves backwards. All enemies just stare away from you, like walking in on your surprise party through the backdoor. Oh and Warriors can apparently use a skill that makes them rush forward to spear up an enemy to walk faster - Is it a bird? is it a plane? No it's that Weirdo who is supposed to save our country with his really big sword. the devs DEFINETLY didn't anticipate that but I am here for it.
All vocations I have tried felt great and versatile and while I wish there were more skills to be used at once I don't have much negative to say. I saw other players say that Thief is overpowered and Trickster is underpowered (I think? I don't know, I don't pay that much attention when something isn't arrow or spear shaped)
E) Exploration
The world is riddled with secrets, treasure chests and Seeker Tokens that need to be spotted and reached. Pawns that already got to the loot in another's players world will often ask you to show you the way, if you're the first Arisen this pawn has travelled with to have found something they will remark on it as well. The chests will mostly contain generic things, I won't lie - but you should still go for them as some of the best equipment can only be found at the end of some random caves. "Honey, where did I put my Ice Dagger? Oh Sweetums how could you forget you put it in the elaborate tunnel system behind a waterfall where all the hostile Lizard people live!" The world is gorgeous and free from invisible walls. The water is evil (don't question it). There's different biomes, cities and settlements. muddy forests turn into a misty swamp, beautiful elven stone architecture, an unyielding desert or a rocky mountain range. A river can be crossed over destroyable bridges, big rocks, shallow parts (don't forget though, the water is evil), or by having me shoot my arrow so hard into you, you get speared up to the other side. You can enter almost every house and grab their stuff (don't destroy it though. you can rob every peasant and queen while the guards are looking at you but someone, they draw the line at stomping on a box). Navigation through settlements and cities especially feels rewarding, you can tell the artists put effort into creating spaces that feel inhabited. And an occasional attack on these spaces always sends me into a panic, afraid that some Ogre is gonna kill one of the merchants.
F) Travel
Now here's the downside of the Exploration. Itsuno seemed adamant in interviews pre-release that the issue with people using fast travel so much is that games just don’t make travel fun - and then he made travelling not that fun. Like don't get me wrong, the first times out and about feel incredible, as does exploring a new area. but then the aforementioned cannon fodder enemy thing kicks in and you run from one enemy group to the next always doing the exact same thing and it gets tiering, especially if you have been to the area before and looted everything empty - plants regenerate but no one bothers to refill treasure chests. Tsk. You can use ox-pulled carts, from several of the bigger settlements, you will most likely be attacked on the way, if the cart gets destroyed you’ll have to walk. or try to find another cart on the way. You can also buy teleports (Ferrystones) for egregious prices, find them or get them as gifts from NPCs. These can teleport you to Portcrystals - of which there are only 2 in the game and they're almost next to each other. (Like the water, don't question it) You will get a small number of portcrystals over the course of the game that you can place yourself. You will still have to walk to the location you want them in but afterwards you can teleport, or pick up the crystal and place it somewhere else.
Personally, I don't think it's too bad but once again - I saw other people complain so I think it's only fair I paint a bigger picture. I use oxcarts a lot, am smart with my teleports and poolmy quests so there is not too much back and forth. I also plan my routes so that I uncover the map bit by bit instead of trying out every single cave system and hidden path the first time I get somewhere so that helps. Moderation is key.
E) Crafting & Inventory
Many freshly picked items can deteriorate over time in your backpack (they keep inside your storage box that is accessible at every Inn). They have 3 stages. Fresh, Aged/Ripened, Rotten. At the second stage you can combine two items of the same type (Fruit, Meat, Fish, Harspud) to make non-perishable food which you can then use to make better healing items. Everything has weight, and it usually lightens your burdens to craft, some pawns may do this on their own. If your backpack gets heavier your character feels it. Your stamina runs out quicker and it impacts the game physics. Make sure to spread out your stuff evenly among yourself and the pawns if you're a loot gremlin like me. You cannot craft your own gear (crafting is mostly for potions, oil and food items.) but you can collect material that can be used to upgrade your gear at blacksmiths (there are 4 different blacksmiths whose upgrades all have different effects, so be mindful when upgrading unique gear). You don't need to have stuff in your inventory - you can craft from your storage box menu and blacksmiths can take mats from your box. Minimise your inventory contents before setting off on long journeys.
F) Quests
DD2’s quests get the most out of its mechanics, that admittedly are mostly combat focused. The game makes an attempt at stealth passages. They feel like they were designed by my cat who "sneaks" on top of the dining room table while holding intense eye contact with me. Lucky for the game I HATE any form of stealth so I wasn't too bothered by it. A Handful of quests have multiple endings, a lot of quests can be missed or time out which makes the few quests that are given to you by random peasants who just REALLY want the Arisen, the Dragon Chosen, The Sovereign to be - to like get them a nice pair of glasses or whatever. But in all honestly, there is definitely variety to them, it's not JUST fetch quests. and I find them nicely written for the most part although it does sometimes feel like the writers just got a terminology cheat sheet for a ren fair and threw a dart at it for some sentences. As someone who uses old timey words instead of modern insults - game recognise game you gosh darn offspring of harlots...it does occasionally sound a lil' silly though. Make sure to talk to a lot of NPCs, and check the quest log for a timer and don't be too down if you do miss or fail something. And when stuck - search for a pawn in the rift who has "quest helper" while having the quest you are stuck on set as active. They can lead you to where you need to go (mind you that might be on the other side of the map). Oh, and I heard some people say the quest density is greatly diminished in the second part of the game - I only just crossed the border and have found plenty but I can't speak for what is to come, which might very well be nothing.
G) Romance
I already went to it on another post. Here is a link to it, OP elaborates in the comment and so do I and some others so you should have a bigger overview of opinions. https://www.reddit.com/GirlGamers/s/iNOLZLK4GK
I don't wanna rehash the topic fully but it's basically like inFable 2. which is to say: It is there.
H) Character Customization
I have never seen a character Editor as detailed as this one but I will say upfront - I just remebered a really interesting post by a fellow gamer girl who went into detail about the lack of diversity when it comes to black hairstyles in games and I will admit- I did not pay attention in this regard. I am sorry but when it comes to inclusivity y'all will have to look into it yourselves. And I dont think I toggled much with the skin colour option either. They'll definetly have something but I can honestly not say how much. The most important thing for me (and what I spend the most time on) were the tattoos. You can put I think 10 in total per character on them and they are highly customisble. Everything and a mom has a slider or toggable option.
When it comes to gear - that's a different matter though. There aren't too many equipemnt options and there is usually a clear winner for every progress range and vocation so when going to the rift to pick pawns you will see the same outfit over and over again. And - yes. The controversial mage bikini has rather good stats. I personally don't think it's necessary to wear it, Upgrading your gear will make it sufficent for a rather long time. And I think overall the game is rather easy so for me it's really more about the aestethic than any stats. I am not even bothering putting on a hood unless I come across on of the 2 enemies I find somewhat challenging. I am not hiding that flawless hair, the dragon is just gonna have to have respect for a good hair day.
I) Difficulty
As already mentioned, - I find the game too easy. That is not to say I am bored or that I never felt challenged - far from it. Fighting an ogre was fun when I didnt know what I was doing when it took me 10 minutes and it's still fun now that my pawns can obliterate them in 30 seconds without me even bothering to draw my bow. Big Fights are just impressive to watch and play. But most fights will be cannonfodder enemy sprinkled. I am a bigger danger to myself than a hobgoblin could ever be. Well, maybe the water. The water is evil. But other than that - I truly feel like there is a balancing issue here. I hope enemies get buffed and pawns and some skills get nerfed honestly. I saw a post of someone saying they’re late game and the pawns who are travelling their world (not even the ones hired by that OP, just the ones walking around) have killed bosses before OP could even get to them - and I am not surprised at all. I usually get annoyed by how a lot of games give you fairly useless AI companions that shoot like Stormtroopers and yes for a while it felt nice being protected by 3 tall Magic Mommys (DONT SHAME ME FOR MY PARTY COMPOSITION MY PAWN IS ALREADY DOING ENOUGH OF THAT, Yes I know we are all ranged. What do you want me to do? WALK UP to enemies? Smh, I get oxcarts for that) Anyway, this ain't it Chief.
Will say though, this would make the game eligible for players who see themselves more of the casual variety. Really nothing is stopping you from playing a support class and watching your pawns do everything for you.
.......................................
So, Should You Buy Dragon's Dogma 2?
I love the game and enjoyed almost every minute of it. But it's still a "No" for a recommendation from me.
........................................
The reason for that, are 10€. Yeah I am being serious. If this game had the normal release price of 50-60, I think I would have recommended it in a heartbeat but this those extra 10 on top...they feel like an insult. Like a 10€ capitalistic middle finger. Capcom, You guys don't need those 10€ and you don't deserve it. This game was released too early, and your resource management in terms of work that was done on certain aspects of the game was dreadful, if you had no way around the release date than you should have managed this. I can't imagine the work that most have gone into the cannon fodder enemies. But you couldn't hire some more writers and quest designers? Or Design some more big enemies? Why are your artists working on GOBLIN skins instead of wearable outfits? I don't fecking care about the gobo swag they could all be wearing the same loin cloth for a very awkward "Who wore it better" competition for all I care. Now that I am looking at all the game aspects respectively - it feels like an art exhibition where someone is displaying 2/3 Van Gogh paintings and then some random toddlers finger paintings. And those Van Gogh paintings? I think they’re worth 60€. But those toddler paintings aren't worth 10. Now, that I have whined about DD2, I will go back to wasting my entire weekend playing DD2 like the hypocrite I am.

2024.03.22 21:58 willishvl Starfield Hardcore Mode?

I'd love to see a Star Field hardcore mode introduced similar to Ghost Recon: Breakpoint. A hardcore mode with specific features that you can toggle on or off. Ideally, I'd love to see an XP multiplier for every HC feature that affects difficulty turned on.
Below is a list of some features I'd like to see added in a HC mode and some which I just think would be great additions. It would be great to hear other thoughts on what would make this mode, and/or the game, better in general.
- Increasing the affect of different classes of weapons on different spacesuits so you have to choose loadouts more tactfully in certain situations.
- Getting hit in the legs causes limping, EM weapons cause you to fall or slow down etc. (This could be in effect until you heal yourself with the right supplies)
- Instant death for not wearing a spacesuit (and maybe some animations putting helmet on/off).
- Damaging your ship in certain areas will actually affect your performance in specific ways (e.g. getting hit by em slows you down or temporarily incapacitates you, a slug to a weapon might take it offline until fixed etc...).
- Perhaps having a certain level of destruction enabled when boarding enemy ships which prevents you from throwing certain grenades and using certain weapons for fear of destroying the ship. (maybe adding in aggressive depressurisation might be too far? …or maybe not...)
- Having to spacewalk to fix more substantial hits with a welder would be awesome but they'd need to do this in a way that doesn't become too tedious. Perhaps a repair robot addition to the dock.
- Adding an on/off gravity switch inside the cockpit or better yet - introduce panels around ship to control certain features (gravity on/off, airlocks, outside lock).
Non-Hardcore additions:
- An auto pilot feature could enable you to enjoy your ship interior whilst moving and the addition of manual exterior weapons the player could use whilst a crew member pilots would be crazy.
- The ability to create a fleet of ships and employ your own crews to join you in space skirmishes or carry out delivery missions (the latter is similar to Assassins Creed).
- I'd also love to have a first person view inside the helmet to make the experience more immersive with a HUD showing the usual HUD but inside the helmet. Optional customisation of this would make it even better.
- Laser sights going exactly where you aim them instead of just a basic feature (that would be worth the research costs)

The great part about toggling these features in GR is that some players may prefer certain features to others and no one wants to ruin the game for a load of people. However, the increase in XP is its own reward for doing some slightly more immersive and potentially repetitive tasks. This, for me, makes the tasks I wouldn't usually do enjoyable.

2024.02.20 22:14 kazuqq [PC][2010-2016] 3rd person F2P top down dark fantasy mmorpg

Platform(s): PC, played it on windows F2P, I think has it‘s own site
Genre: 3rd person top down, dark fantasy magic based mmorpg
Estimated year of release: release idk, but I played it somewhere between 2010-2016
Graphics/art style: it was pretty 3D, but wasn’t trying to be realistic. The character designs were very detailed, the main clothing color was black. Mostly fantasy armor. In general dark colors, dark vibes. I think you viewed the character from kinda far away, so there wasn’t much pixelation. Not a blocky game, I think designs were kind of spiky. I think it looks pretty similair to lost ark, but more nature based and no buildings to go into.
Notable characters: You started the game with character customisation, so your character was customizable, I think you could choose between a few different classes, male and female, but definitely more female characters. Maybe change the appearance a bit, like hair and eyes or something like that. I don’t know how detailed the starting customization was, but later you could equip armor and stuff. Like helmets, chest armor, weapons. I don’t think they changed your appearance though, mostly stats
Notable gameplay mechanics: It was open world, but not a vast endless area with endless explorations, especially in the starting area the paths were mostly quite narrow. Some paths only as wide as your character. You could encounter enemies on your travel that you could kill, other players were visible and you could send friend requests and form something like guilds. Boss enemies or bigger fights were always tile based, rotation based fights. So first you could move around the battlefield basically, attack if you wanted to and then your enemy could move and attack, and repeat. The enemies were all made up creatures, they didn’t resemble humans at all. You could fight together with your guildmates (idk if only with one or multiple) and maybe with friends too. I‘m pretty sure when you were fighting together (in the tile based, rotation based fights) was the only time you had a chat, so that you could strategize. I think it had a level system, inventory spaces were grids. I think you could upgrade items too, they definitely had levels or rarities. It had different areas that you would travel to via a portal, I only remember two areas/worlds but maybe it had more. The portal was definitely vertical. It had some story, but that definitely wasn’t the main aspect of the game. It had no cutscenes. You had different quests that you go after, seen in a quest box, above that a round map view (I think), possibly your position being a red triangle arrow. The game was mostly magic based, using spells and stuff. Or maybe different skills, I‘m not sure if it had a skill tree, but could be possible. I‘m not sure if it had swords. There could also have been a PvP option, in the tile based turn based system again, but I am not sure about that.
Other details: The starting area was a market, to the left side opening up to the portal which you would have to climb up stairs for. You could buy armor and probably potions or something on the market. There was a row of stalls on the top, one in the middle that basically cut the area in half, and when you walk upwards and around the row on the middle, to the left of it were the stairs to the portal. (I drew a small picture, look at the link) I think this is also where you got your first quest, talking with a dude. I remember, also more towards the beginning, walking a narrow path, surrounded by water, the path sometimes turning into small bridges. I don’t think you had to jump over anything, no platforming. Maybe that area had fog too. After quite a while of playing I unlocked a new area which was a wasteland or desert. That one was a lot bigger and more open than the starting world, with no set paths. There were also no buildings that you could enter, I don’t recall seeing any buildings at all besides at the starting portal. As I said, it has similair vibes to lost ark, the game overlay probably looked pretty similair. I‘m not sure if there were any big animations or colors when attacking, definitely not with small enemies you see on the way. Also I am not sure if this is correct at all, but I feel like the name started with an M. Maybe I‘m imagining stuff tho, no idea.
Market starting/main area

2024.02.16 00:55 MotionlessPicture First Time Biker: What Advice Can You Give Me?

Hello, you amazing, cool and sophisticated (ahem) Kawasaki riders! I will soon be one of you.
I have dreamt of riding a motorbike ever since I was very young. I don't even remember when or how I got this idea that I want to be on one. I have no relation or connection to bikes in the family, most of my relatives don't even need or drive a car (public transportation is enough for them).
I just tried the Eliminator 500 and am planning to buy it as my first bike in a month or two (need to save up a bit more :/) . My choice was between this and the z650, but my body feels more comfortable with the Eliminator. My height and weight just demand a lower, lighter bike and overall this one fits me well.
I will mostly be a solo rider, occasionally with a passenger? Backpack? Whatever you like to call them.
I already have all the basic equipment (protective clothes, gloves, helmet, several balaclavas and boots).

I wanted to ask you, as I don't have anyone else who can advise me about these:

What is there that I should consider to buy or a customisation to make before getting into the actual riding moment?
One example is earplugs. I never knew I need ones, but now I know and am looking at maybe getting musician's earplugs - are they good for this? Was planning to buy ones for cinemas and concerts anyway, because my hearing is quite sensitive.

Comms devices? I do like to listen to music, but I don't think I will NEED this during my first half a year riding. I feel like I would be too careful and focused if I judge by my first half a year driving (it was some time ago, but I will always remember the change in character!) How necessary are they? Already read a thread about good brands and so on, but I am not even sure I need one.

Locks and chains - I have NO idea what to get!

Rain and dust cover - I live in a pretty dusty area and there are also many trees around. Most paid parkings are open (no roofs), and I don't own a garage. It's common here to leave your bike in a paid lot.

Maintenance and tools? What can I do myself to help my new buddy lead a longer, stable and comfortable existence?

Any additional documentations? I will get it registered and insured, but what apart from the generic ones are good to have for a bike? Compared to a car?

Trackers, cameras, other gadgets - I watch tiktokkers have a tonne of stuff on their machines and I have no idea if I need one. I don't plan on recording any content, but I would like to have some equivalent of a dash cam? I even have a gopro on my bicycle for safety reasons.

I think this is all, but if you think I need something which I have not mentioned, please tell me!

Unless you have some serious reasons to why I should not get it, please don't bash my choice!
I am not considering the sale of this bike for the moment, as I am almost certain I will keep it for at least a few years because I tend to get stuck with everything I own until it's practically broken and unfixable.
P.S.: I live in Europe, EU country, so my registrations will be valid throughout the EU.

Thank you in advance!

Grapefruit Bike Trails
A freeride park built from a network of lines all of which contain multiple ride options. A 2.5 mile main loop circles the perimeter of the park providing access to multiple freeride line hubs as well as access to an intermediate to advanced flowy singletrack with uniquely Florida quick changing elevation. Every advanced feature on the main loop has a cross-country style bypass allowing users to progress at their own pace. In the center of the main loop is a dirt jump section that features multiple lines with multiple options specifically built for BMX, and DJ bikes. When on the main loop the rider is presented line options through the various hubs throughout the trail. These lines can be run in sessions and contain fast-flowing drops, tabletops, gap jumps, step-ups, step-downs, berms, etc. Trails are well marked, helmets are required, and caution is recommended.
Grapefruit trails run through Turkey Creek as well with trails along canal and through woods.
Within the parking lot by the main trail sign. Route your GPS's to 1414 Norbert Rd NE, Palm Bay, FL 32907, take the dirt road on the east side of the drainage canal, and the parking lot will be on your right.

If you have limited mobility, a mobility scooter can be a life-changing investment. Mobility scooters are designed to provide a comfortable and safe means of transportation for people with disabilities and seniors who cannot walk long distances.
They come in a variety of models, each with its own set of features and benefits. In this article, we will guide you through the process of choosing the best mobility scooter for your needs and budget.

Understanding Mobility Scooters

Mobility scooters are battery-powered vehicles that are designed to help people with mobility issues get around more easily. They come in three classes, each with its own set of speed and weight restrictions. Class 2 scooters are designed for indoor and outdoor use on pavements, while Class 3 scooters are road-legal and can be driven on the road. Folding and folding scooters are also available, which are designed to be lightweight and portable for easy transportation.

Choosing the Right Model

When choosing a mobility scooter, there are several factors to consider, including safety, comfort, portability, and battery life. You should also consider additional features and accessories, such as baskets, cup holders, and folding mobility scooters with ramps. It is important to choose a scooter that fits your needs and budget, while also providing the necessary safety features to keep you protected while driving.

Key Takeaways

Understanding Mobility Scooters

If you or someone you know has mobility issues, a mobility scooter can be a great way to improve independence and quality of life. Mobility scooters come in a variety of types and models, each with their own unique features and benefits. In this section, we'll explore the different types of mobility scooters and key features to consider when choosing the best one for your needs.

Types of Mobility Scooters

There are three main types of mobility scooters: travel scooters, mid-size scooters, and heavy-duty scooters. Travel scooters are lightweight and portable, making them ideal for short trips and easy storage. Mid-size scooters are larger and more powerful, with a longer battery life and higher weight capacity. Heavy-duty scooters are the largest and most powerful, designed for outdoor use and rough terrain.

Key Features to Consider

When choosing a mobility scooter, there are several key features to consider:
By considering these key features, you can choose the best mobility scooter for your needs and enjoy improved mobility and independence.

Choosing the Right Model

When it comes to purchasing a mobility scooter, there are many factors to consider to ensure you choose the right model. In this section, we will explore the different types of mobility scooters available and the features that make them suitable for various needs.

Class 2 vs Class 3 Scooters

One of the first things to consider is whether you require a Class 2 or Class 3 mobility scooter. Class 2 scooters are designed for indoor and pavement use and have a maximum speed of 4mph. They are smaller and more compact than Class 3 scooters, making them easier to manoeuvre in tight spaces. Class 3 scooters, on the other hand, are suitable for both indoor and outdoor use and have a maximum speed of 8mph. They are larger and more powerful, making them suitable for longer journeys and rougher terrain.

Indoor vs Outdoor Use

Another important factor to consider is whether you require a mobility scooter for indoor or outdoor use. If you mainly need a scooter for indoor use, a Class 2 scooter may be the best option. These scooters are designed to be compact and manoeuvrable, making them ideal for navigating around tight spaces such as shops and homes. If you require a scooter for outdoor use, a Class 3 scooter may be more suitable. These scooters are designed to be more powerful and have larger wheels, making them suitable for rougher terrain.
When choosing a mobility scooter, it is essential to consider your specific needs and requirements. Consider factors such as the terrain you will be travelling on, the distance you need to travel, and the size of the scooter. By taking these factors into account, you can choose a mobility scooter that is the perfect fit for your needs.

Safety and Comfort

When it comes to mobility scooters, safety and comfort are of the utmost importance. You want to feel secure and stable while driving your scooter, and you also want to be comfortable during longer rides. In this section, we'll explore some of the key features that contribute to a safe and comfortable mobility scooter experience.

Stability and Maneuverability

One of the most important safety features of a mobility scooter is its stability and maneuverability. Look for a scooter with anti-tip wheels, which will help prevent accidents and keep you safe on uneven terrain. Additionally, front and rear suspension and shock-absorbing features can help smooth out bumps and make for a more comfortable ride.

Comfort Features

Comfort is also a crucial aspect of a good mobility scooter. Look for a scooter with a padded seat that is adjustable to your height and comfort level. Additionally, handlebars and tillers should be adjustable to ensure proper posture and comfort while driving. Some scooters also come with extra comfort features such as armrests, headrests, and cup holders.
When it comes to safety, make sure your scooter has the necessary safety features such as lights, reflectors, and horn. It's also important to follow traffic rules and wear proper safety gear such as a helmet.
Overall, a good mobility scooter should provide a balance of safety and comfort features to ensure a smooth and enjoyable ride.

Portability and Storage

When it comes to choosing a mobility scooter, portability and storage are essential factors to consider. Fortunately, there are many options available that cater to these needs.

Foldable and Disassembled Options

Foldable scooters are an excellent option for those looking for a compact and lightweight mobility solution. They can be easily stored in a car trunk or under a bed. Some top folding scooter models even come with a shopping basket or under-seat storage to make your shopping trips more convenient. The Ultralite 480 and Pro Rider Easy Fold are two excellent examples of foldable scooters that provide both comfort and convenience.
Disassembled scooters are another great option for those looking for a more portable solution. These scooters can be easily taken apart into smaller pieces for storage or transportation. The TravelScoot USA Escape is a popular choice for those looking for a disassembled scooter. It comes with its own travel case and can be easily taken apart and put back together in just a few minutes.

Storage Solutions

If you're looking for a scooter that can handle longer distances and heavier usage, then storage solutions are an important consideration. The Pride Maxima is an excellent pavement scooter that comes with a large storage basket and can handle up to 35 stone. The TGA Mobility Vita X Deluxe is another great option for those who need a more heavy-duty scooter. It comes with an impressive all-terrain capability and can handle up to 28 stone.
When it comes to storage, it's important to choose a scooter that fits your lifestyle. Whether you need a compact, foldable scooter or a more heavy-duty option with ample storage space, there are many options available to choose from.

Battery Life and Maintenance

When it comes to mobility scooters, battery life and maintenance are crucial aspects to consider. Mobility scooter batteries come in different types, including Gel and Lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries. Gel batteries have a lifespan somewhere between SLA and Lithium batteries, making them ideal for people who use their scooters every day. On the other hand, Lithium-ion batteries are becoming increasingly popular in the electric mobility scooter industry due to their high energy density, low self-discharge, and longer lifespan. They are also lightweight, making them easy to transport.

Battery Types and Charging

To ensure your mobility scooter's battery lasts as long as possible, it's essential to follow the manufacturer's instructions on charging and maintenance. Lithium-ion batteries, for instance, should be charged regularly, and the battery meter should consistently be close to full to maximize the life of your mobility scooter's batteries.
Furthermore, it's crucial to consider the maximum range of the battery. The range is the distance the mobility scooter can travel on a single charge. The range is influenced by several factors, including battery type, user weight, and topography. Therefore, it's vital to choose a mobility scooter with the right battery type, weight limit and capacity to meet your needs.
Regular battery care and replacement also contribute to battery longevity. According to Review Mobility, the average life of a mobility scooter battery is between 3 to 5 years, influenced by factors like usage, topography, and user weight.
In conclusion, understanding the battery life and maintenance of lithium battery in a mobility scooter is essential to ensure the scooter's longevity and optimal performance. By choosing the right battery type, charging regularly, and following the manufacturer's instructions on maintenance, you can enjoy a hassle-free ride on your mobility scooter for years to come.

Additional Features and Accessories

When looking for a mobility scooter, it's important to consider the additional features and accessories available to enhance your experience. Here are some of the most popular options:

Lighting and Tyres

LED lighting is a popular feature for mobility scooters, providing extra visibility and safety when travelling in low light conditions. Some models even come with LED headlights, which can be particularly useful for night-time driving. Additionally, pneumatic tyres offer a smoother ride over rough terrain and can help reduce vibrations, which is especially important for those with joint pain or other mobility issues.

Extra Storage and Customisation

Many mobility scooters come with built-in storage options, such as baskets or bags, but you can also purchase additional storage accessories to suit your needs. For example, a backpack or saddlebag can be useful for carrying groceries or other items. Customisation options, such as different coloured panels or seat cushions, can also be a fun way to personalise your scooter and make it stand out.
When choosing additional features and accessories, make sure to consider your specific needs and preferences. For example, if you plan on using your scooter for longer journeys, all-round suspension may be a worthwhile investment. Similarly, if you have limited mobility in your hands, a joystick or other alternative control option may be necessary.
Remember to always check the compatibility of any accessories with your specific mobility scooter model. By taking the time to research and choose the right additional features and accessories, you can ensure that your mobility scooter meets your unique needs and enhances your overall experience.

Purchasing and Aftercare

When purchasing a mobility scooter, it is important to consider the warranty and insurance options available. A warranty can provide peace of mind and protect you against any faults or defects in the product. Some manufacturers offer extended warranties, which can provide additional coverage beyond the standard warranty. Additionally, it is important to consider insurance options to protect your investment in case of accidents or theft.

Warranty and Insurance

When purchasing a mobility scooter, it is important to check the warranty and insurance options available. Some manufacturers offer extended warranties, which can provide additional coverage beyond the standard warranty. This can be particularly useful if you plan on using your mobility scooter frequently or if you have specific needs that require additional coverage. Additionally, it is important to consider insurance options to protect your investment in case of accidents or theft. Some insurance providers offer mobility scooter insurance policies that can cover you in case of accidents or theft.

Delivery and Training

When purchasing a mobility scooter, it is important to consider the delivery and training options available. Many suppliers offer delivery services, which can be particularly useful if you are unable to collect the mobility scooter yourself. Additionally, it is important to ensure that you receive adequate training on how to use your mobility scooter safely and effectively. Many suppliers offer training sessions as part of their service, which can help you to feel confident and comfortable using your new mobility scooter.
When it comes to purchasing a mobility scooter, it is important to consider the price and quality of the product. While it may be tempting to opt for a cheaper model, it is important to ensure that the mobility scooter meets your needs and is of a high quality. Additionally, it is important to consider the market and ensure that you are purchasing from a reputable supplier.
Overall, purchasing a mobility scooter can be a significant investment, so it is important to consider all of the options available and ensure that you are making an informed decision. By considering the warranty and insurance options, delivery and training services, price and quality, and the market, you can ensure that you are purchasing a mobility scooter that meets your needs and will provide you with many years of reliable service.

This classification means that they are not subject to road tax and can be used on the road, but certain rules must be followed.

NHS Support and Regulations

The NHS provides guidelines on the use of mobility scooters and powered wheelchairs. While you do not need a licence to drive a mobility scooter, it may need to be registered, and only certain types can be driven on the road. 2. Once Legion reaches 5 teams, the command element will be elevated to Spartan and a new Platoon lead will be assigned for Legion.
  3. Once Raven reaches 6 Pilots, Hermes will be opened to provide Logistical support to Raven and Legion.
  4. Once Hermes' 4 teams of Logistical (each team handles 2 legion teams and 2 aircraft)
At that point, the unit is entirely open to expansion in whatever direction is suitable, be it another platoon, or a new detachment.

Closing Statements

The groundwork is mostly done for the unit, the only thing that needs to be ironed out is qualifications and documentation for people to have an easier time but otherwise, it's perfectly playable and I am always looking for players to join so that we can create an unforgettable experience.
Tactical play as well as entertainment will always be at the heart of the unit and I will do my damnest to make sure of it.
Hope to see you on the battlefield!

This is the Working Glitches Section! This is always being improved, and if you have any recommendations please let me know in the comments or send me a direct message. If a platform is just "Xbox" or "PlayStation", that means that it works with both old gen and new gen versions of the game.

2024.01.06 16:18 Legitimate_Concern45 [A3][Recruiting][Fresh Unit][International] // ISF Taskforce 38 NATO-CTRG

Hello reader! Hope you enjoy the read! I will include a TL;DR: at the end.

Introduction

Seems a bit official but I am writing up a small post to advertise a group that I am working on for Arma 3.
It's full name // NATO-CTRG International Special Forces: Taskforce 38 Short name // ISF Taskforce 38
The idea behind the unit is that we utilize flexible team compositions in platoons to form small task groups which on their own can effectively complete a task or a given operation in a sensible manner, be it extraction, assault, defence, stealth missions, you name it.
The unit is a modded unit with a small group of us playing liberation. - [Literally 3 of us]
When the unit will become large enough, a boot-camp will be held where for about a week you attend some trainings so that even if you have zero hours in arma, you can still get into the unit knowing the basics at the very least.

Unit Information

Timezone: Timing will be based around UTC +0 with playing times reasonable to UTC +5 Unit Type: Ballistics, Realistic. Modding Status: Modded Country: Global - European/American Core. Playstyle: Flexible, with mechanised, UAV's and Infantry being integrated together. Attitude: Semi-Serious - Uniform, Radio, (De)Briefing, Vehicle Comms Serious. Rest is chill. Attendence Requirement: Required to attend for operations twice a month to keep billeting, otherwise reserves can play whenever. Customisation: Planned in the future for weapons or vehicles, maybe helmets. Currently no Modders on the staff team. Infrastructure: Discord Server, Teamspeak, Arma Server with Liberation.
DISCORD LINK: https://discord.gg/K7ujyT4d5WA3 Unit link: https://units.arma3.com/unit/taskforce38

Organisation

The unit is divided into four separate divisions

Unit plans and Current status

Currently the plan is to develop the unit to a point where Spartan can be opened, Legion, Raven and Hermes have on platoon each.
The steps necessary are as follows.
  1. For each team of Legion, there will be one Raven slot opened.
  2. Once Legion reaches 5 teams, the command element will be elevated to Spartan and a new Platoon lead will be assigned for Legion.
