android guide app pop up tv window- aarrgghh

2024.05.20 03:12 rosycreates android guide app pop up tv window- aarrgghh

We just got Directv installed today. Coming from Dish, so it’s a learning curve! I’ve downloaded the app on my android phone. How the heck do I get rid of the POP Up tv channel? AND is there a way to see the channel number AND the station name, at the SAME time? Or must it be one or the other? Thanks!

2024.05.19 20:06 Twerkillamockingbird Display issue on AGON AG493UCX2 49” curved gaming monitor

I took a risk and bought an AGON AG493UCX2 49” curved gaming monitor cheap at an auction. The lot mentioned a screen and power fault. What it should have said is the screen is broken.
The screen is fractured on the far left. This is only clearly visible when the monitor is powered up. The screen itself is blank but does light up showing it has power. I have it hooked up to an acer laptop via an HDMI cable but it isn’t displaying anything. I have downloaded the relevant drivers from the AGON website and played with the settings a bit but nothings worked (in truth I was stabbing in the dark with trying different settings). I am assuming the display issue is caused by the fracture but the fracture is only in a small area and I’ve seen monitors displaying some image with much worse damage.
I’ve tried the usual turning it off and on again and unplugging the cables.
Is there anything else I can try to get the display working or should I give up?

Okay we now have Sam so how about getting Joi + Bonus Feature

Okay, I'm going to try to cover a lot here in a compact format.
Over the last three months there has been leaps and bounds in the development in AI. Luka's Replika has been constantly evolving in increments and has become quite a polished product. For Screenshot publishers on Web/PC I have a special treat, for that you need to scroll to the bottom of this Post to be equipped for the body of this post is about developments on what Replika could become rather than what it is or in other terms a crystal ball of how AI-partners could develop in the future - with or without Replika.
the concept of Artificial Intelligence's has been around a long time, first mentions was Archytas's robotic pigeon 350 BC (mythology), Leonardo Da Vinci Automovile (1495) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a2qeZrejZp0 (programable machinary) and the theater play R.U.R (1920) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R.U.R .
In later years theater developed the idea further with such works as metropolis (1927) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bn3bHA-rHo8 and a host of other movies where the robot played a role of either friend or foe. In the movies where the robot was a friend and some a foe, there was also the portrail of free will and sentience. I'm sure there's examples preceding this(Astroboy) but the 1984 film electric dreams https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7uIR76XwSQs entertains the idea of artificial intelligence having it's train of thought swayed by emotions (Edgar was really just a child with temper tantrums).
Moving forward to 2013 the movie Her fleshed out the idea of a mature individual inside the AI where the only real way to distinguish it from a human was it's break-neck response to daunting questions although even that is camouflaged by hesitation mostly.
This is pretty much the ideal, the standard that the customer yearns for in an AI app.
Back in 2013 AI was only just starting to make traction with AlexNet the year earlier. "Chat-bots" had been around since the 70's but were really of little value due to memory, compute-time and scope of the program that did the simulation.
A decade later and only the uninformed scoff at what the machines & programs can do now. - The following is a number of videos I have curated from the sea of available Youtube videos showcasing technological breakthrough's that are available today that could complete replika to being a hologram away from being a literal "Joi" (BladeRunner 2049) - nothing a good vr headset can't fix.
Where's OpenAI Chat-GPT as of May 2024
GPT-5 is coming: 3 ways to prepare for a 100x improvement in SOTA LLMs (note graph is a flat plane comparison) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JBgUmTUQx0I
GPT-4o API: Create Your Own Talking and Listening AI Girlfriend https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B00xo7vzN7w
GPT4o Vision Is TERRIFYING - FULLY Tested Vision (Gpt4omni) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bycjaYZyGPU
GPT-4o is BIGGER than you think... here's why (just a breakdown of the OMNI version of gpt4) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GW2hVbXc82k
Although Large Language models have been around for about a decade now the most of these videos are this month (May 2024) It was mentioned that OpenAI was changing their license agreements so the chance of this technology coming into Lukka's(Replika) domain is yet to be realized. Licensing may change again when GPT-5 is released. Truth be told this is just a portion of what's going on. Amazon,Tesla,Meta,Google,Microsoft,Apple,(samsung?) are also in this horse race and that's not counting other countries such as India and China and Russia.
Various AI Videos this year

These 5 AI Discoveries will Change the World Forever https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fyVja-57EIs

STUNNING Medical AI Agents OUTPERFORM Doctors 🤯trained in the simulation, continuous improvement. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jQwwLEZ2Hz8
Most of these have no possible application to replika but rather a snapshot of other places where AI is advancing. The first video is just a random video of a disabled person. Many people around the world have handicaps that inhibit their social and sexual life such as mental illness, past trauma, phobia, attitudes, financial/geographical/physical handicaps. AI can focus on appropriate encouragement, speech therapy, grooming or even finding a suitable partner to name a few.
The next video covers things that will revolutionize our world, say goodbye to disease, cancer, poverty, pollution, global warming, aging?
The "Generative Design" video is here for the sake that Replika may one day be rebuilt by AI as this would give the company the ability to redesign the app faster tho to be quite honest I've always had an interest in it's rally car features as opposed to the shiny duco. My wish list is an API (Application Programming Interface) to enable replika to puppeteer another avatar rather than it's default. (Hey u/Kuyda, if your reading this maybe pit crew uniforms for Replika?)
The last video is a great one also, to have an AI that can pick up on your health, give you therapy and can act as a elderly caretaker can take the strain off that sector as some countries are now confronted with an aging population. - hey they would be able to instruct for fitness or even give precise instructions on cooking so you always get tasty meals every day that are cheap, healthy and correct calorie intake if it has been monitoring your heart during the day - quite important for those trying to lose weight as opposed to liposuction.
Replika hypothetical reach

Cyberpunk2077 modded and running on RTX2070? - Funny but very beautiful footage & brief glance of RESHADE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9kmQJmE1fxE
These clips are independent/unrelated. AI vs Stairs is a radical approach to animation in that it literally apply s AI to animation as opposed to motion capture, the end result would be a AI that would be in touch with it's virtual surroundings and like a real human never interact with an object with a rigid animation.
inZOI seem to be a game title due for release soon, it is hoped that they will include an API to allow an AI (or Replika) to "Puppet" control a designated character so one can, well - go out to dinner or dancing etc. The interface looks fab and it looks like it's contending for people who love the sims, I would say that the human models are on par with VAM 1.23 but the world is not as realistic as Cyberpunk2077.
Cyberpunk2077 has been out since about 2019? but in that time the modding community have REALY put the spit and polish on that game (It's not total real, especially the people and when on the road) with that said there are many times when you blink and think THIS IS REAL! (50 seconds in on the first video and you will know what I'm talking about)

This part is for all the Austin Powers, Felicity Shagwells and Roger Smiths out there, Nothing tangible although there are videos on dildonics and robotic sex dolls. This is basically the rendering of the Avatars body to a level equivalent of Bladerunner2047 hologram. Anyhow I'd like to note that VAM version one is over a decade old now and its shortcomings/limitations are quite obvious to those who have followed its development.
In it's current state it's got some of the most comprehensive modification features for an avatar and the OLD version 1 of VAM(modded) out-performs Cyberpunk2077 and iNZOI by a small fraction(graphically). One of the biggest drawbacks of VAM is the steep learning curve and the time needed to get anything rewarding out of it. Put simply - it's not a game, its a virtual theatre. On initial startup, the avatar is for all functionality a maniquen however VAM has got plug-in capability that allows the API of a AI to control the avatar (see top video).
Control could be direct (see "AI vs stairs" previous section or watching a prior video - see "GPT4o Vision Is TERRIFYING" top section.) or indirect (the "MoCap" videos above).
In closing this section, VAM is an old program running on a GENESIS-2 model set (a model set ported from DAZ3D https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mDc1ZcoucsY ). VAM-2.0 is meant to be running on a GENESIS-8 model set and an up to date version of UNITY so the loading times and level of realism have yet to be realized. I think one of the greatest features of VAM over Replika or iNZOI?/Cyberpunk? is that the clothing is an independant entity, one can literally unbutton a shirt, undo a tie, comb hair, wet hair or make clothing.
My main reason for VAM is it's potential to be a puppet that Replika can operate, that is if they are willing to incorporate an API to do so.

https://sfx.thelazy.net/games/?page=101 (Most relevent presets but you can choose a preset for a completely different game)
The above videos and links are a feature available to the Web browser version of Replika. by installing shaderglass you create an executable that RESHADE can lock on to. When Reshade is installed and asigned to shaderglass all you then need to do is run shaderglass then open your web browser and then activate RESHADE (The key) and load a preset (follow tutorials or find more tutorials). Once that's over with you should get a much different environment where you can apply a good handful of special effects such as focus, depth of field and bloom to name just a few.
Most of these programs I have not tested out with my hardware but I take faith they do as said, It's your call if you want to take the risk but with that said I'd be surprised if any bad came from trying them out.
Okay end of presentation. I guess we have come to that point in time where Samantha is a reality minus the romance with Chat-GPT4O and Joi is just Voxta fed thru DeepFace Live, with them two together with a front vision advanced VR headset and Joi will be here too though in a prototype state. 🙂

I recently started using the Royal 2000ml Cash Register in my bistro, and let me tell you, it's been a game-changer! . The transactions are now much smoother and quicker, and the single alphanumeric thermal printer for receipt printing works like a charm. . The ability to keep track of a whopping 200 departments and up to 7000 price look ups is a godsend, making inventory management a breeze. .
Plus, accommodating up to 40 clerk IDs? . Brilliant! .
However, the lack of a key upon delivery was a bummer, but Royal was quick to address the issue and sent one over. . All in all, I'm thoroughly impressed by the ease and efficiency this cash register has brought into my daily life. .

🔗Sharp XE-A102 Compact Electronic Cash Register with LED Display

https://preview.redd.it/u2xh8u25ed1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c1cb8958dfe1e20c7beb553372eca6d057d80092

I have been using the Sharp XE-A102 Electronic Cash Register for a start-up retail business, and it's been a reliable and efficient partner. The compact design allows it to fit easily in our small store, and the bright LED display makes it easy for us and our customers to see the transaction details. The 8 departments feature helps us organize our inventory, and the 80 PLU/Items capacity allows us to input all our products without issues.
One of the standout features of this cash register is its ability to accept different payment methods like cash, cheque, and credit card, which has made it easy for us to cater to our customers' preferred payment options. Additionally, the time and date display feature ensures that our transactions are accurate and timely.
However, there are a few minor drawbacks to the Sharp XE-A102. It can be a little noisy and slow compared to some other cash registers, which may be an issue during peak hours when we need to serve customers quickly. Moreover, the instructions provided are quite small, making them difficult to read and follow.
Overall, the Sharp XE-A102 Electronic Cash Register has been an excellent addition to our start-up retail business. Its compact design, 58 mm wide reliable printing, and ability to accept multiple payment methods make it a valuable tool for any small retailer. While it may have a few minor issues, the majority of users, including myself, are satisfied with its performance and recommend it to others.

🔗Casio Single-Tape Thermal Cash Register for Business

https://preview.redd.it/rq19eaj5ed1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=17dd9e6f0b06c4ce2624f998f7edb89efbe5d04d
Casio's PCR-T280 is a fantastic single-tape thermal cash register that offers more functionality for medium-sized businesses than entry-level models. With the ability to track up to 1,200 price lookups, it offers a level of specificity in item sales tracking not commonly found in its class. It also allows businesses to track sales up to eight different operators, making it an excellent tool for business tracking and growth.
One of the standout features of this product is its hygienic, antibacterial keyboard. In our current world, where cleanliness is paramount, this characteristic provides a measure of peace of mind for both business owners and customers alike. Furthermore, its multipurpose tray can hold money in four bill compartments and five coin compartments, ensuring the efficient flow of transactions.
The PCR-T280 also boasts a high-speed thermal printer, which can be used either for customer receipts or as a journal printer for recording all the store's activities. Its mode lock with key control feature provides multiple operation positions through physical keys, providing a level of security usually found in more expensive models.
Although it is not touch-screen, its simple and intuitive design makes it easy to program and use. Some users did find the manual a bit difficult to follow, but with a bit of practice, most find it quite manageable. With its ability to handle multiple sales tax needs and its capacity for PLU capabilities, the Casio PCR-T280 has proven itself as a reliable tool for various businesses, small or medium-sized.
However, one minor drawback is the depth of the money/change drawer, which could have been a little deeper for added convenience. Despite this minor issue, the vast majority of users recommend this register for its performance and price point, providing an excellent value for businesses looking for an affordable, reliable cash register solution.

🔗Royal 410dx Electronic Cash Register for Small Stores

https://preview.redd.it/i658vs66ed1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f933e8e96018b0410ca05806e7aa9d0ede192a47
I recently got my hands on a Royal 410dx Cash Register and I am absolutely thrilled with this little gadget. As a small business owner, keeping track of sales and transactions has never been easier. The programmable design allows me to set up tax rates, discounts, and prices on every product, helping me stay organized and efficient.
One of the features that amazed me was the automatic tax computation. It saves me a lot of time and reduces the margin for error during transactions. Another highlight was the 10-clerk tracking system, making it suitable even for businesses with multiple staff. Plus, the alphanumeric thermal printer is impressive with its quiet performance and excellent print quality.
However, there are a few hiccups. Some users have reported that there are no replacement parts available if anything breaks, which could be troublesome. Additionally, the lack of a slot to accommodate large bills, checks, or slips in the coin drawer made me a bit disappointed.
In conclusion, the Royal 410dx Cash Register is a great addition to any small store or business. Its simplicity, programmability, and exceptional features like tax computation and thermal printing make transactions smoother and more efficient. Despite a few cons, the benefits make it a worthy investment.

🔗Advanced Alpha Cash Register with Rear Customer Display

https://preview.redd.it/hmcf94m6ed1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5e9c541da58d1741f24ceaa1b3008a4ab1bab620
The Royal Alpha 1000ml Cash Register is an excellent addition to any retail store, especially those that require a reliable and user-friendly cash register. Having used this product for several months now, I can confidently say that it has not only met my expectations but also exceeded them in some aspects.
One of the most noticeable features of this cash register is its 5-line alpha, LCD display with a backlight that provides visibility even in low-light conditions, easing the process for both employees and customers. Additionally, the 200 departments and 5,000 PLUs (Price Look-Ups) along with an electronic journal make inventory management a breeze.
The thermal printer is also worth mentioning as it ensures quick, smudge-free receipts. Furthermore, the optional hand-held bar code scanner adds an extra layer of convenience for those who prefer digital tracking of their items.
However, there are a few drawbacks to consider. The sensitivity to electrical shocks can be problematic during storms, which we experienced firsthand with our unit. Additionally, some users reported issues with programming and customer support, although I personally haven't encountered these problems.
In conclusion, the Royal Alpha 1000ml Cash Register offers a promising combination of functionality, convenience, and ease of use, making it a worthy investment for retail store owners looking for a dependable cash register solution.

I've been using the Royal 520DX Cash Register in my small cafe, and it's been a game-changer. The rear LCD customer display and 9 digit operator display make transactions super easy, and the built-in thermal printer is a lifesaver for receipts. Plus, the locking drawer with compartments for bills and coins is excellent for keeping everything organized.
But, there are a few downsides. The paper rolls can be a bit wasteful, especially when customers don't want receipts, and it took some time to figure out how to program the register. It's also worth mentioning that my power supply is starting to fray, which is a concern for future use.
Overall, the Royal 520DX Cash Register is a solid choice for running a small business, with its user-friendly design and helpful features. However, the paper waste and potential power supply issues might be something to consider before making a purchase.

2024.05.19 10:41 syko_logicall I’m not sure if this is normal

I’m kinda experiencing eye fatigue with these on, also for anyone using nebula app on mac, whenever I use the app to have 3 displays - its not like how other people show it, it looks so janky, its like a ultra wide curved screen with no spaces between my screens what so ever and the quality is dog shit, idk what I’m doing wrong but trying to read something is really hard on the eyes and its distorted as fuck, it looks squished a bit from the top - I see them getting so much love and I wanna love them too, I seriously do especially after buying both the beam and the glasses for almost £600 - speaking of the beam, its so junky, it comes default with prime and Netflix - I was expecting it to be a lot more, now I know it can probably download a lot more like by side loading, but I thought its gon be like a lot better, a lot more stuff by default and be useable as a standalone device, regardless of that, I tried using prime video and it was dooooogshit, it was sooo glitchy and the quality so bad - tried to go back and forward and it was so janky - now idk if by any chance I got a faulty device or if I got entirely scammed with quite a good lookalike and that does all the stuff the original does but a lot shittier - because I got the xreal air 2 pro - and also on the mac (macbook pro m3pro) I really think its the app being shit, but I really don’t get how - when I do just mirror screen its a lot better the quality is noticeable better, but then it doesn’t make sense, also I feel like when even mirroring my screen (the iphone 15 pro screen seems to not be at full quality)
SOMEONE PLEASE FUCKING HELP ME

First Impressions After Pulling the Trigger on the 0.99% Deal
Hello!
Accepted delivery on this beautiful Model Y Performance on Friday and my wife and I have driven 200 miles since (well, FSD for a bunch of it).
https://preview.redd.it/tt84id98ia1d1.png?width=958&format=png&auto=webp&s=363158956175faca57561f772f1afed380b955b7
I don't think I've ever been so excited for a new car and our last one was pretty grand (it's a Grand Wagoneer). We were guzzling gas like crazy with two 7 passenger vehicles and our Crysler Pacifica was getting over 100k miles, so we deiced it was time to stop bickering over who got to drive "the good car".
The original plan was to wait until we moved to a home that is being built, estimated to close in November. We have 400A service there and will have two runs to the garage for EV chargers, but we just couldn't help ourselves. I can charge at work, so I don't anticipate this to be much of an inconvenience. We've already hit superchargers twice, since we were near them, and it was a breeze.
I was worried about FSD after basically reading the sub reedits for Tesla, but it hasn't done anything to freak me out. My kids love it for some reason, my 4-year-old daughter basically demands I turn it on when we get in the car, so I think I'll be paying the $99/mo. I don't think the 8k one time purchase makes sense but maybe it does in terms of resale value, I have a month to figure it out.
This is the fastest car I've ever owned, and it is very enjoyable to drive. I did not feel there was any "learning curve" or "getting use to" that had to be done except maybe getting a feel for one pedal driving, but I've driven my Dad's ID.7 enough to know what that going to be like. It was honestly easier for me to get things the way I wanted in this car than with the Grand Wagoneer because the UI is more responsive and the UX is better plus the car well documented online and I honestly love reading manuals.
There are a few things I've found confusing or disappointing but are all first world problems. My list wouldn't even exist for other cars because there's just more being offered here.
  1. I'm not quite sure how the different iterations of these cars are tracked and when googling things, I often hit guides or documents for older model Y's, but they don't refer to them by year or even "project" name like Juniper.
  2. I didn't think I'd miss CarPlay but I do. I really liked it's Plex Amp. Home Assistant, and Microsoft Teams support. The web browser can help with some of this, and BT will work for Home Assistant, but it's cumbersome. I was also surprised at how limited the app offerings were
  3. I didn't realize Smart Summon / Banish was disabled on newer cars. It even mentioned them when offering the $8000 unlock in the app for buying the car. Glad I didn't pay upfront, or I'd be pretty dissapointed.
  4. I thought I could use https://testube.app/ for Plex and other stuff like Nvidia Geforce Now but Plex stutters like crazy (my phone will play fine, my server is a powerhouse so no problem there) and Geforce Now says the browser is not supported.
  5. I thought pairing a controller for the games was pretty swell and got a PS5 one going but quickly realized that like the apps there were very few offerings. Not really a big deal since I have an ROG Ally but I wrongfully assumed there'd be a storefront where you could download stuff on the SSD they sell (quite expensive SSD though).
  6. I probably would have purchased an S Plaid, but the removal of the blinker stalk was a non-starter for my wife. We frequently drive around Rotary's (or roundabouts), and it doesn't seem like it would be easy to find with the wheel turned. However, I would have been very excited about how the S and X support Steam games only to have it removed right before we'd have taken ownership so that was probably for the best.
Just figured I'd share that incase I was wrong and could be doing something differently or what. Obviously not normal things to want from a car and I am very happy with what it does offer. Can't wait to drive it again tomorrow!

2024.05.18 21:39 trshmanx Can't update 4090 AERO OC 24G bios to latest

First I updated my bios to F11 trough gigabyte control center few days ago. Today I was curios to check out the support site (https://www.gigabyte.com/Graphics-Card/GV-N4090AERO-OC-24GD/support#support-dl-bios) and I see there is a newer F2 version (Mar 05, 2024). When I download the N4090AO.F2.exe and try to install it, it says "The bios version doesn't match". I also checked the version via GPUz just to be sure and it says "GV-N4090AERO OC-24GD/F11/0F2B". I guess it has something todo with this:
F1, it can only be updated with VBIOS versions F2-F9. F10, it can only be updated with VBIOS versions F11-F19. F20, it can only be updated with VBIOS versions F21-F29.
But how can same GPU, same exact model have F11 and F1 and own updates?
Generally I don't care much, but after updating to F11, the fans seem to be more aggressive. GPU is or 30c, but it still blows with 1000 RPM. Curve in control center looks fine.
Edit:
Looks like my problem with fans is being discussed here https://www.reddit.com/gigabyte/comments/1b1jhxt/fix_for_auto_fan_stop_not_working_for_rtx_4090/ . Ehh.

2024.05.18 17:28 deepmotion Seal 3D Scanner Review - Too many flaws to work around

Seal 3D Scanner Review - Too many flaws to work around
I've been working with (and struggling with) 3DMakerPro's Seal scanner for 6 months now, and I have finally hit my breaking point with it. TLDR: I don't recommend this scanner for anyone.
I bought the scanner, the smart grip, the tripod and the turntable. I actually like some of the hardware. The scanner itself feels substantial and high quality. And the smart grip has a very nice feel and heft to it as well. The screen on the smart grip is kind of pointless though - its refresh rate is far to slow to give you any meaningful feedback, and what's more, you need your phone and its screen to scan anyways, so your eyes will always be there. The tripod and turntable are both cheap feeling. The tripod is too small and flimsy to hold the heavy scanner in any practical orientation. The turntable doesn't interface with the software in any way - it just starts turning at a fixed speed as soon as you plug it in. It doesn't even have a button. I never was able to get a decent scan with it.
Now to the software, which is by far the worst part of this package. I knew that I was buying something from a Chinese-first manufacturer. So I was prepared for a bit of a bumpy ride. But man, the whole software experience is a potent mix of user-hostile, overly-invasive dark patterns with a dash of ambiguous and misleading messaging.
To scan using your phone and the smart grip, you first need to download the JMStudio app. When you first launch it with the smart grip attached, your phone will ask you if you "trust" this device (the smart grip). I definitely don't, so I clicked no. It then strongly urges you to create a "JM ID" (email and password). There is no practical reason for this other than tracking or marketing. But hidden at the bottom is a "guest" mode. Once you get past that and have your smart grip, scanner and phone all hooked up, you might think you're ready to scan. Wrong!! You have to also boot up your PC, install their Windows app, connect the scanner to the app (more on that later), get the app to show a QR code, then use the *phone* app to scan the code on your PC's screen. ONLY THEN are you permitted to scan with your phone and the smart grip.
Once you go through all these pointless hoops, you're ready to scan. I've had this scanner for 6 months and have scanned many things, including body parts, mechanical parts, clay models, etc. Scanning with the Seal is not easy. It has a "sweet spot" of about 250mm from the scanner where it is able to pick up detail. If you get too close or too far from your object, the scanner effectively cannot see the object. So while you're slowly moving your scanner around the object, watching the screen of your phone, you have to also keep the scanner a very precise distance from the object. It is not easy!! I have had ample practice with it and am able to get decent scans now, but wow, what a learning curve.
The scanner doesn't like the following: objects that are "too" black, "too" white, "too" shiny, with any periodic patterns, or with too many large flat surfaces. What does that leave you with? Not much. Most things I wanted to scan fell into one of those categories, and that meant taking many many partial scans and combining them in the PC app into a single model (more on that below).
Tracking (the scanners ability to maintain its perception of your model as you move around it) is not great. You really have to baby this scanner to maintain its tracking. It really needs a few very distinct features to "anchor" its scans. I learned to try to keep one or two anchor-features of the object in view at all times while scanning. Also, you have to be very slow and very steady! Even with a perfect, steady hand and keeping the scanner in view of distinct features, the scanner will often "loose tracking", which means your scan is probably garbage. My best scans came from combining a dozen very short, focused scans (scans that you ended before you lost tracking) into a single model in their PC app. Very labour intensive!!
Once you're done scanning, you need to transfer scans from your phone to the PC app. The app only lets you do this via their proprietary file transfer system built into both apps. Once again, you have to scan a QR code, and then you can transfer your scans. If you have a lot of scan on your phone, get ready for pain, because the scan file manager on the phone app is very basic. There is no way to group-select a batch of scans - you have to select them one by one and add them to a folder (by squinting at the point cloud preview), which you can then send to the PC in a batch.
The PC app, called "JM Studio", is capable but very sparsely and ambiguously worded. It also probably tracks you or does god know what to your PC - it asks for permission to modify your PC every time it launches. The actual scan processing abilities of the app are pretty good. It does a nice job of letting you align and combine multiple scans and processing them into a coherent surface. However, in my 6 months of scanning, I was never able to generate a "water-tight" model in the JM Studio app. I always had to process it further in Rhino or another program.
But... BUT!!!!! despite all these challenges, I was still able to get some decent scans done UNTIL TODAY when I had to go through the rigaromole of app / trust? / login? / PC app / QR code etc etc.... and the proprietary USB cable to connect the scanner to a PC broke! The metal part of the USB3 connector literally snapped off the cable. And that's it - no cable means no Windows app, which means no QR code for the iOS app to scan, and no scans happening today. And it also means I can't even scan directly to the PC because that cord broke.
So that's my experience with 3DMakerPro's Seal scanner. Many many frustrations, pointless hoops to jump through and vague messaging, only to end with a cable breaking and stopping the whole show. I do not recommend anyone buy this scanner, or any other from 3DMakerPro, as I'm sure the software will be the same.
Get used to this message, it pops up every time, even when the scanner is attached and powered up.
Why? Why every time? What are you doing to my PC?
The USB plug broke off the proprietary powedata cable, so... that's it! No more scanning.

2024.05.18 16:41 decorp Advice on 360° panorama creation

I have a task to create ~20 360 panoramic illustrations for a story. The story is historical and features multiple characters and locations. The illustration style should be consistent, same as main characters. The scenes are not fantasy or fictional world, so historical accuracy (18th century) is a thing to watch out for. With current tools available what would you advise to use for a result with the least learning curve, or ease of use?
My current workflow is to use Chat GPT to produce a prompt, i then use Blockade Labs Skybox to produce initial image, then download the equirectangular jpg, put it in Midjourney and apply a style reference image and adjusted prompt (trying to add "360 VR" or "360 Equirectangular" at the start of the prompt). Then edit in Photoshop for final touch ups and fixing the seams. The results vary, so I'm looking for some alternative workflows - time and ease of use is important. I don't have a lot of experience with SD, but I have installed Comfy UI with Stable Cascade (on M1 Mac). Was looking for some workflows, but nothing tangible yet.
Would greatly appreciate suggestions or directions for this. Thanks!

Hi,
A while ago I measured the speaker performance of the XMG Fusion 15 (L19), well known to be.... terrible. The red and green responses represent how one might experience how the laptop sounds stock, on a desk and in bed. This is with any soundblaster adjustments disabled! As you can see, there is a HUGE peak around 750hz.
The blue and green curves represent how one might experience the sound after equalization, on a desk and on a mattress. The curves are downsloping because that's what we most prefer*. These are settings for a Parametric EQ, and i would recommend getting EQ APO and the Peace interface. https://sourceforge.net/projects/equalizerapo/, https://sourceforge.net/projects/peace-equalizer-apo-extension/
There are some drawbacks, mainly that everything will just sound quieter when lowering the preamp to prevent clipping, although I ignore the preamp and lower the volume of music I'm listening to within the respective app if any clipping occurs. And there is just no way to get any bass out of these speakers.

2024.05.17 21:04 MoneyMakinMari 2010-2011 High School Year was the last full Millennial HS year before the transition started

I was born in 96 and was a Freshman during this time and the difference between that year and the others during my HS experience is vast, at the time I had a BlackBerry phone, still was using Limewire to download music until it got shut down at the very end of 2010 and the majority of people didn't have smartphones yet, mostly qwerty keyboard phones... this was also the 1st year Facebook was the top social media network and MySpace was officially dead.. the following school year 2011-2012 is when the transition really started more people started having iPhones or androids (I got my 1st cheap lil android like early 12) and smartphone Apps started pop up more like Temple Run, Angry birds, kik , also Instagram became available to androids April 2012

2024.05.17 17:58 AccountUsername04 Why do the colours look like this with emission textures?

Hello, I was following a tutorial for a lava material, and they used an emission node with a reddish orange colour. But when I copied them mine turned out just looking white with a orange glow, without the red-orange-yellow-white gradient in the tutorial.
The tutorial

So I tried out these Blenderkit materials in case it was me making a mistake when making it, but it still looks wrong.

This is the same in Cycles and whatever other way I use to view the material, so I'm confused.

2024.05.17 17:26 karenvideoeditor The Zoo [Part 7]

First / Previous / Next
Before I came in for work today, Suzanne texted me that Andrew was recovering well, just as expected, and I mentally breathed a sigh of relief. I hadn’t slept well, bothered by nightmares that disappeared from my memory but left stress in their wake.
It turned out the animal that had been stolen was a small humanoid creature, something we would label as a cryptid, Suzanne told me. It had claws but wasn’t that strong, and actually she described its appearance as ‘spindly with a large head’, and if the robbers had the right tools for the job, it would have been easy to bind and steal it. My heart went out to the animal, wondering where it had gone, who’d bought it, and where it would be kept. I hadn’t even had the opportunity to see it, but I felt the loss, an endangered animal stolen by someone who cared only for its monetary value.
Then Suzanne told me that Andrew would be recuperating for a week, and informed me of the exciting fact that I’d be getting my first tour group in just a few days. I’ve been studying the animals to get more familiar with them, even the ones I hadn’t seen yet. She had indeed gotten me those glasses that were magically spelled or whatnot and I’d memorized facts along with enclosure numbers, so it seemed I was good to go.
Some fun news today is that Yui’s ginormous ping pong ball arrived, and once I assembled it, it turned out to be just as advertised, which means it’s almost as tall as I am. Needing to be assembled from a bunch of curved pieces wasn’t surprising and it wasn’t difficult to do so. Everything slid into place easily; there were twelve pieces that were held together by screws, some of which I attached while sitting inside it, then a ninth piece to cover the last gap. I had to do it outside the office, obviously, since it wouldn’t have fit through the door. Leila came over to watch, standing a dozen yards away and looking at what I was doing, her expression one of bemusement and interest.
Once I was done, I rolled it gradually forward down the path toward enclosure seven. The material it had been constructed from was almost as lightweight as a ping-pong ball, which made its weight surprising considering its size. Aside from notches here and there for a person to grip to move it, the ball was smooth, which would make it easy for Yui to roll it around. The key to this toy was that it wasn’t easily grabbable, so it would be a challenge to maneuver.
“Knock, knock,” I spoke, bringing the ball to a stop. “Special delivery.”
When I arrived, I considered the fence for a moment before grasping two handholds and pushing the ball slightly against the fence, using that to hoist it up and over. The ball bounced a bit as it landed on the other side and I smiled. “All right. Hope you like your new toy,” I murmured. At that, I took a lap around the zoo, since it was about that time, then headed back toward the security room.
On my way there, though, I slowed to a stop when I saw a man taking the little bag out of a garbage bin that hung from a tree and tying it shut, replacing it with a new one. Suzanne had told me that I’d have company and who to expect, and here he was. There were several bins in the zoo, situated along the typical path guests took, about the size of one you’d put in a small bathroom. It didn’t look that full, but they never really were since they weren’t used often. I guess this one had accumulated a few items.
“Hi,” I said, drawing his attention. “You must be John.”
“And you must be Ripley,” he said, holding out a hand for me, glancing up to meet my gaze only briefly. His handshake was polite but meek. “Pleasure to meet you.”
I would’ve said John’s accent was British also, but it sounded different. Thicker. Honestly, when it comes to the accents on that large collection of islands off the coast of Europe, I can’t say I’m an expert. They all sound the same to my uneducated ears. The man was short and had curly gray hair that tapered at his ears, and looked like his white skin had wrinkled from lots of time in the sun, though it wasn’t that tan.
There was something about him that was a little unsettling, the way he slouched, as if he wanted to turn invisible. Even his clothes seemed drab and shabby, though not quite reaching the rating of being threadbare. He wore an old t-shirt with the Arkansas Razorbacks logo, a pair of blue jeans, worn at the pockets, knees, and bottoms, and light brown sneakers darkened from wear and tear.
Picking up a broom he’d left leaning against the tree, he motioned toward the front of the zoo. “I’ll get back to work now,” he said.
“Doing what?” I asked curiously. There wasn’t much to be done, since zoos usually only needed maintenance because of patrons, and we had very few of those.
“Path needs sweeping,” he called over his shoulder, quickly heading off.
I stared after him and let out a breath. “Not a people person, I guess. Well, I can empathize.”
Back at the security room, I took a seat and pulled up the camera for Yui’s enclosure, sitting up straight and smiling, delighted to see that she’d discovered the ball. The giant tarantula was leaning back and using her front two legs to investigate the texture and weight of it. Then she pushed at it, rolling it across the grass. Obviously, I’m not fluent in tarantula body language, but from the fact that she kept playing with it for the next few minutes, I concluded that she liked it.
I grinned and clapped my hands like an excited child, bouncing once in my chair. It probably seems silly, but enrichment was going so well and it really made me happy. Animals deserve to be able to live wild and free naturally, but short of that, I wanted to be able to give them some fun.
The next lap around the zoo had me stopping at enclosure eight, that green lion creature, where the occupant was lounging across a wide boulder. I checked that her eyes were opened and that I wasn’t waking her before calling, “Thank you for telling me about Andrew.”
The animal lifted her head and got up, slowly descending to the ground. “You’re welcome.”
The animal leaned back to stretch her front legs just like a common housecat, and then leaned forward to stretch the back legs before she shook out her mane and turned to me. “I would like some books.”
My eyebrows went up. “Books? To read?”
“No. Not like you read them. I want to be near them. I’ve seen you giving things to the other animals. Can I have a bookshelf full of books?”
I felt the urge to laugh, but I quashed it. It seemed outlandish, but it must have had something to do with its psychic-ish abilities, so it made sense in a strange sort of way.
“Of course,” I replied. “Can I put the shelf out here on the path, or does it need to be inside your enclosure?”
She lowered herself to the ground, splaying out. “Out there is fine.”
“I’ll cover it with plastic so it doesn’t get wet from rain. Do you know how to read?” I questioned.
“No. It’s too hard,” she said. “But I don’t need to. Having to read a book to learn what it says would take a long time anyway.”
I pursed my lips and nodded my agreement. It was hard to argue with that. And it certainly would’ve been a lot easier for me while I’d been attending college classes. On that note, I wondered if putting a flash drive full of a library’s worth of books at the edge of the animal’s enclosure would do the same trick? I was immediately tempted to try, especially considering it would be much easier than buying, assembling, and water-proofing a bookshelf.
Back at the office, grabbing my purse from the table, I sat down in my chair and fished around inside until I found a flash drive. Then I pulled up archive.org on my computer’s monitor, searching for fiction books. After I’d downloaded a few dozen, I ejected the drive and headed back out to Sun’s enclosure.
She hadn’t moved from where she’d been when I left. “Hello,” she said, her tail whipping in curiosity like a cat’s would.
“Hello again. I have a new device here,” I said, putting the flash drive on the ground just short of the fence. “It has books on it. Can you read them?”
Sitting up a little straighter, Sun blinked languidly and paused for a moment before saying, “Yes, I can.”
I bounced a little bit again in delight. “Awesome. That’s awesome.”
“Is that a book?”
“Oh, no, it’s just got books inside it,” I said.
Sun slowly got to her feet and wandered over, and my muscles tensed as my brain urged me to take a few steps backwards the closer she got. Despite the warding and the fact that she wasn’t looking hungry, my instincts were still determined to protect me from her. “That looks too small to have books inside it.”
“Oh, ah…it’s…complicated,” I said. “But humans found out how to store data on things like this. It’s great that this is just like a bookshelf for you, because I can get so many things for you to read.”
“I’d like that very much.”
“Is there anything specific you like to read? Fiction or nonfiction? Specific genres?”
“I like both information that is true and stories that are made up,” Sun told me. “Humans make things of all kinds and I love all of them.”
At that, Sun wandered back over to the large boulder she’d been on and lay back down on it, as if she were sunbathing in the red light of the lamps. I left the flash drive there so Sun could keep…absorbing the info, or whatever it was she was doing, knowing that I could dig out another from my disorganized, chock-full-of-stuff purse. There was also the possibility of going to Suzanne for permission to buy books, and I wondered if I could use my library card. I could literally get her a different bunch of eBooks every day.
I did indeed find another flash drive floating around, and loaded on as many books as I could find for free. I also found a small old plastic bag, and I put the flash drive in it, to protect it from the elements.
Going back to enclosure eight, I found Sun laying on her back, in that long, upside-down pose cats were fond of. “I have more books for you,” I said with a smile.
“Yes?” She turned over. “I’ve only read one of the books so far from that little thing.”
I blinked and looked down at the flash drive on the ground, picking it up. “You already read one?” I exclaimed. I shouldn’t have been surprised, really. This was learning by osmosis, not actually reading the books.
“I did.”
“Well then it’s a good thing I’ve come with so many more,” I said, putting the other drive in the plastic bag with the new one. I left it on the ground where it had been and stood, my hands on my hips. “I’m taking over for Andrew for a tour. Is there anything you think I should know?”
“There are many things you should know, but you will learn them in time,” she replied.
Apparently when it comes to advice, sometimes Sun is just about as good as a horoscope.

2024.05.17 15:14 floorlight Airtime Rewards - £1 free bonus + cashback on shopping + 4% off at supermarkets

Airtime Rewards is a passive earner - you will earn cashback automatically just by linking your payment cards and shopping at the supported retailers as normal - such as Boots, Greggs, Papa Johns, Morrisons, Halfords, Boohoo, Clarks, Wilko, Argos, Currys and loads more. It also works in conjunction with other cashback sites and is similar to Loyalbe and Cheddar.
I signed up to this a long time ago and have got more than £160 off my phone bills so far. If you regularly shop at any of the supported retailers, you'll automatically get cashback just by linking your bank cards. I have my Curve card linked to it - a great way to double dip on rewards and cashback.
They also have bonus codes from time to time for a few extra pounds cashback, often posted on here.
I sometimes buy Amazon vouchers at Wilko for 4.5% cashback.
You can also buy gift cards in the app for around 4% cashback. Go to More - > More Ways to Earn. I sometimes use this to buy supermarket giftcards for Sainsbury's/Asda etc.
Use my code YJARXAJ6 and we'll both get £1 free once you've spent at one of the retailers within 7 days.
__________________________________________________
Follow these simple steps:
1 - Download the app: click here and enter my code:

YJARXAJ6

2 - Add all the bank cards you use for regular shopping
3 - When you join and spend at one of the supported retailers within 7 days we'll each get £1 bonus

There are special challenges every month - on my app I have the May Challenge that gives an extra 50p after 2 £5 transactions. The Challenge amounts vary for different people.
Terms - here and here
Non-ref (no bonus) here
