I have a daughter 14f and 7f
Anyways we planned on having a birthday for the 14 year old we planned a pretty nice party and the 7 year old was included aswell.
We also planned a hangout for the 7 year old so she wouldn't be left out. Anyways one of my daughters friend bought her an ipad with apple pencil the 7 year old had a shitty tablet and begged to use the ipad I told my oldest she would have to share it she protested saying it was hers my youngest grabbed it and said it's hers my oldest then got very mad and yelled at my youngest calling her an "annoying brat child" I was furious at my oldest. I bought my oldest a new PC for gaming but I had it out into my youngest daughters room instead as punishment the 7 year old also cut and eat the cake which made my oldest insanely mad at her.
I feel like at 14 she should be mature enough to know she doesn't always get what she wants and she's acting really immature and selfish. I grounded her for a month made her apologize to her sister and gave her of her presents to my youngest.

Hi everyone,
I’m struggling with some issues involving my dad and reaching out to get some opinions to see if I’m overreacting or if my feelings are valid.
I am 30, married to a wonderful husband, and have two beautiful daughters.
Main Issue:
Lately, a few things have been happening with my dad (52) that’s been bringing up some old feelings.
For some background, my parents divorced when I was 3. I don’t know why as neither of them can't agree on the reason. Their relationship was VERY toxic. From 3 to 7, I lived with my grandparents, who I fully believe were my saving grace.
My mom, while not faultless, became my sole provider. My dad never paid consistent child support. I knew when he paid because we had takeout that night or my mom bought me ice cream.
I went to a child psychologist from the age of 6 to 8. During this time, I had no contact with my dad, except for when he kidnapped me. I don’t remember much about it, but I recall the cops escorting my mom to fetch me. He never even phoned me for my birthday; I vividly remember running to my mom’s phone every time it rang, hoping it was him.
After 8, I started visiting my dad. Some of my best memories are from that time, but so is one of my worst. I had many cousins, which was great since I was an only child.
I lived with my dad for a year when I was 9. He never attended anything while I was at school. My stepmom went to my parent’s evening, and he didn’t even attend my netball games, leading me to quit not long after.
From 10 to 14, I lived with my mom again. She had remarried when I was 8, and my stepdad was great (his family not so much, but that's another story).
During those four years, I did ballroom dancing, cross country, and drama, and participated in entrepreneur's days and sports days. At that time, my dad only ever came to one of my dance exams, which just so happened to be my last exam when I was 13, as my mom couldn’t afford to pay anymore.
For the last two years of high school, I lived with my dad again. By then, I was over taking part in anything. I think my dad came to parent’s evenings, but I wasn’t paying much attention.
I didn’t even get new school uniforms; we got mine from a clothing bank at school, meaning they were 3rd or 4th hand, sold by the school at a discounted rate. At least I got new school shoes.
After school, I wanted to study teaching. I didn’t complete my course because we found out the institution I was studying at was not accredited. When my mom took me to a different institution, they discovered there was no more money in my study policy. My dad had access to my policy; my mom didn’t. For reference, the cheapest price last time I checked was R90,000 per year.
Now, I’m stuck in a profession I didn’t choose, earning just enough to make ends meet. I have asked for help to pay for other studies and get shut down every time.
This brings me to now. My family and I live 3 hours away from my dad. I’ve lived here for 10 years (since 2014). The first time my dad visited me was in 2016 for my firstborn’s funeral. Then he came in 2017 for my wedding, for my second born’s birth in 2018, and the first actual visit was in 2022, staying the weekend. He came early last year (2023) while I was pregnant, for my youngest’s birth in March 2023, and for my birthday in October 2023. So, in 10 years, he has visited me 7 times. Just for clarity, in those 10 years, we have visited him multiple times a year, even with little to no money.
We don’t talk unless I phone or message him. My secondborn is turning 6, and he has not been to one of her birthdays. NOT ONE.
My youngest’s birthday was on the 21st of March, the day after the school holidays started. He was supposed to attend. I cleared it with them months beforehand; he was supposed to fetch my secondborn for the weeklong school holiday. I had been telling her she was going, getting her all excited, and then he cancelled a week before he was supposed to come. After all the arrangements were made, my child was excited to go. But the cherry on the cake? They never miss my stepmom’s grandkids’ birthdays (she has 6). Yes, they stay closer than I do, but I see this as a sucky excuse. It’s his grandkids' birthdays he is missing; they only turn that age once.
When it comes to my stepbrothers, who are about 10 years older than me, he always has time. He sees them regularly and can tell the whole world how good they are doing, but when it comes to me, he can’t answer.
I decided a few months ago that if he can’t contact me, I won’t contact him. Am I wrong?
I’ve been sitting since March stewing in my own bitterness.
I see my childhood repeating itself with my kids. I just want to know if I am nuts for feeling angry, bitter, jealous, or whatever. Honestly, I don’t know how I feel.
Seeking Advice:
Am I expecting too much from him, or is this something others would find problematic too? I’d really appreciate any advice or perspectives you can share. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Hello, i dont really expect much from this post, nothing anyone can say or do has helped me out, and i honestly just want to get absolutely evreything off my chest.
I honestly just feel like a pathetic burden, whos way to pussy to just end my shitty life already. My whole life ive been denied love and affection, ive been severely abused my my parents sexually, physically, and mentally. I have no friends, ive never gone out, in years, i dont even shop for my own clothes nor do i know how to express myself in any type of way. I was taught to be a robot, nit talking unless spoken to, being told to just sit there and look pretty, being told whenever i cry that i was a cry baby and that if i wanted something to cry about they'd just hit me, as well as even being told that i never had anything to be depressed or upset about because they apparently give me evreything, oh and lets not forget them telling me that they arent my friends but my parents only.. plus I dont even really ask for anything from them, and when i do it gets used against me. But now that im older, and dont know how to communicate at all or express myself, evreyone thinks something wrong with me as well as my parents.
Ive never had a real life relationship either, maybe it cause im fat, but i have my own problems on where ive never been able to lose it, i wouldn't fall my face ugly, but i dont think its attractive either, or maybe it was the way i was taught to hold myself, whatever the reason ive always seemed to be a boy and girl repellent, with no one ever coming to my birthday parties, to people steught up trying to avoid sitting next to me in class. And i mean, the relationships that i have had, online, they'd always crashed a burned, each one hurting worse then the rest, especially my recent one, i wont get much into detail, cause i know those that may be reading dont really care for it lol.
Tbh i dont think i said as much as i wanted to, i just feel like a burden to anyone and evreyone around me, they all just tolerate me until they dont have to, and its honestly getting tiring for me too, i feel like a burden to myself too, and honestly i just want to die, i have no reason for living anymore, i don't care for my future or the woman that i could become, i dont care about my life anymore either, the one thing that id be clinging onto was love, only for that to be crumbled up, chewed, and then spit out. I just dont see any type of worth in this life, i dont see the worth in living and letting this play out, while i full well know im just going to one day just die alone. But im to much of a pussy to actually go through with it, i mean not really, if i got my hand on something sharp, or some bottle of pills i could probably just shut my brain off and do it in a heart beat. Just like no serial killer came from tonsillectomy, appendectomy, etc.

I have a toddler. For his birthdays, we give him a slice and everyone else gets some. So I am a parent myself, not some weirdo who can’t relate to hosting a kids party.
They whisk said cake away, and then give the guests those sordid, dry, awful, mid-level shelf cupcakes. Mind you, this is not about money…my friends are RICH rich and even my broke friends manage to have cake that guests can actually eat. If you can afford a decadent cake for a toddler to waste, maybe get one the guests would enjoy?
Of course, I genuinely understand that no one HAS to do anything. But this is a vent sub after all 🤷🏾♀️
After such an occasion, I feel entitled to hit up my favorite bakery and get a single slice of a good cake. And I do. I’m sort of a “if there’s a party, I get to indulge” type of person. So it’s like being blue-balled when there’s a party and no cake.
Anyway, I had to get that off my chest. I’m very aware it sounds entitled, which is why I could never say anything about it to my friends. And I go get my own cake when this happens.

This story starts three years ago. During Covid I had watched my family almost lose their lives to it . And all I could picture was my tombstone saying "Here Lies "the Flaky Vegatable" she worked hard . I didnt want it to be all about work . After seeing my parents fighting for their life, I started my No era. By that I mean I worked hard as a assistant manager for 8 years and I started telling my boss no when he asked me to work extra. I was already doing his job for him (he did nothing but sit down on his phone all day) . I never had asked for days off before and I was suddenly taking days off to do things I wanted to do or missed out on because I had spent the last eight years working . Countless Holidays, Birthdays, last moments with family, etc that I missed for a job.
My Store Manager didn't like that I started developing healthy boundaries and absolutly hated the word no . I was asking for morning shifts after working 2nd shift for 8 years . I wanted something tiny for myself . Like a day or 2 where I didnt do second shift. He had it in his head , that he must get rid of me. Now he was stealing money from the job for years. There had been numerous issues . But He was a toxic boss and always put in the fear of god into us if we tried to report him. I started report him to loss prevention . And then he set me up to take the fall. And I lost my job. I was 600$ in debt at the time. No biggie
Losing my job ended up being a Blessing as I was able to become a Store Manager at a great company seasonally. My first year was one fo the toughest. My boss was a old man who thought women belonged barefoot , pregnant, and at home. Another toxic environemnt , but after months of abuse, he was let go . But i endured alot. I cried nearly everyday, was in constant fear of losing this job, and this man was honestly hiring people to low key replace me . Dealing with this man showed me I was stronger then I ever gave myself credit for.
After this job ended , I got what I thought was my dream job. It came into my life so fast and I was thankful for the opportunity , I had to take it. I got paid weekly, doing what I love doing. I thought I had the best job and boss in the world . I was a store manager here too, meanwhile doing something I loved which didnt even feel like working. While I was getting getting experience doing something that eventually I wanted to do. Learning the business, so I could run my own company. My boss even worked with my schedule and made accommodations to fit my personal life. I thought I had won the lottery, until it came crashing down about a month later. The first check bounced, she had told me it was an error. and I was stupid enough I believed her. The hecks after that cleared for a while, until they didn't . All she did was make excuses for the next month . In that time, I barely had money to make my car payments, food, my lifestyle . I stopped getting my nails done , getting my hair done. I was begining to live below my means. She kept saying she would pay me and beause it was my dream job I stayed until I showed up one day and there wasnt Power. That was the last straw, i knew in my heart that at that point she was never going to pay me , so I walked away. But I did grieve. I grieved for the life I wanted to have, the information I would have learned, and started to cry at night again. 3000$ in debt with
2 months went by and I was applying, getting nowhere with applications. I had applied at this shop and I had gotton per diem. During the week I would door dash. The first month I didnt get paid, apparently a "techinal error" in payroll or so he claimed. He gave me a check and from their I was getting paid weekly, minmum. 2 months go by I needed a full time job. I couldnt make ends meet. I had a job for about a week, where I absolutly hated it and I would come come crying every night . I was grossly over qualified and at night I grew bored. Something regular people would take hours to do took me 15 minutes to do. This man from the shop called me and told me he needed me full time and offered me a pay raise to come work with him. So I agreed. Now I was working liveable hours . While there, I was paying my bills down . I got to live a little, I went to 2 free concerts that summer , and White Castle. (yes the hamburger place) The way I was getting paid, I had thought taxes were getting taken out of my check, because to me thats the only way the math was mathing. So i was oblivious. I dealt with , customers complaining about expired products, melted products, I had no toliets for week, unreasable Karens , and he would come in and constantly berate me . He told me not to touch the shelves, but whined that they weren't dusted. I pulled expired product and he would put it back out. This started bothering me a little until the cherry on top of the cake happened. He asked me if I would do sexual favors for him if he paid me . Of course I said no, and bam magically 2 weeks later ( a week after i complained about not recieving that paycheck ) I was "Fired" . His reasoning I was lazy . My reasoning he was an arrogant asshole. That missing 800$ paycheck broke me . (I barely had enough to pay for food, and credit card bills that month) After the fact I found out taxes were not being taken out and while he said and I signed saying I was being paid what I was. He was in fact paying me well under the minimum wage. Also found out I couldnt even go after him , because this man did not even have a business license.
I had gone back to my seasonal job , they had welcomed me with open arms. And I was so greatful for them even though, I was late in the season and would only have it for 2.5 months. In that time I was able to catch up on my bills . I had gone to a convention so now I was 5000$ in credit ard debt. It wasnt bad for me.
I had doordashed after my seasonal job ended I picked up doordashing. This time, I fell in love with it. I made it my full time job and I was making enough money each day where if I didnt feel like working that day. I didn't. I didnt care when pay day was because I loved my job and I had they money . I had mastered it , I was a 5 star dasher and genuinly cared about my customer base. You ordered food in the rain, I got it covered in plastic so it wouldnt get wet, etc. 3000$ in debt .
Then last year my world crashed and burned literally. I was driving and suddenly the world started spinning. I had been hit. The witness who heard the crash i guess opened the doro and told officers I was door dashing. I had a concussion , they asked me the president I said Trump (It was Biden) and I couldn't speak coheartly it was taking extra long to comprehend things. Now the cops didnt ask me what happen nor had I recalled it. I was rushed into an ambulance. It wasnt til the next day I realised how bad things were. I was bruised and broken. My car was totaled . And I was convinced , I had died and came back in my car. My car was on track to be paid off in 4 months that year. Paying it off 2 years early.
Point Blank , Insurance didn't cover it . Because the cop wrote in the report that I was doordashing and fialed to stop. I had the right of way . The girl who hit me was going 80 miles and hour in a 30. Completely destroyed my car and she ended up stopping a half mile uop the road. But according to the police report I was wrong. Mind you I had not talked to confirm this, the witness had assumed. No one would take my case because I guess Doordashing is a complete gray area. I had no one to fight my way out of this situation , and honestly I feel like if I had fought harder (just after I felt like I had died) something would have changed. I could prove she was also in the wrong . I was out of work with no car , no job . 3 months while I healed. 5000$ credit card debt , 5000$ my car (to which I has signed over to the insurance company because they said they would take care of it) . My mom had cosigned a car with me after my foot healed .
September comes around ( I had already started my season job) and I get papers saying I owe this money. 34,000$ for this ladys car. Apparently she was on the clock in her corperate car. Decemeber come around I get another bill in the mail for this girls medical bills.

Now I had contemplated bankruptcy ( i didnt go through with it at the time) , after I saw the Police report, even though I didnt agree with it. I had the hardest time finding a job after my seasonal position , as I usually take Christmas off. It took me over 600 job applications in 6 months, to find a job. Now I work a job I hate . I come home crying everyday, its definatly a toxic work environment, I feel like I get threatened every day and it seems I get yelled at for drinking some water . I'm grossily over qualified for the position and now I'm waiting for my seasonal job to start. I need to get out asap.
I'm 8 days out from meeting with my lawyer. I have debt collectors calling me and my family left and right. I am potentially getting sued pretty much I imagine for everything. Ive been threatened by them for months. Everyday I live in fear that I'm going to be served papers before I see my lawyers. Its been a year since this accident robbed me of my whole life.
Now, I tried explaining my situation to a friend. And she keeps thinking the worst case senario. She doesnt want me to go through with it because she thinks its wrong. She thinks I should suck it up and pay on it because she paid off her debt. I think its because she doesnt understand . (ive read so much , and i still dont completely get it ) Ive explained it to her and even told her I paid for the best attorney in our state. She thinks the worst will happen (because I dont have the best luck) and I'll be stuck with paying it anyway. She doesnt understand how I feel, not getting my hair done, or my nails, or not being able to sleep at night beause I'm living in a nightmare. I'm so tired of fighting. I'm so tired of just existing and not living.
Bankruptcy is my Power Move . I know that sounds crazy. In fact when I first said it sounded crazy to me. But I feel like its going to give me back my power. Ive been in this constant state of fight or flight for so long, I forgot what it feels like to breathe. I wanna take back my power and my life! I want to be able to sleep peacefully. I want to know what it feels like to not live in this toxic, fight or flight state. After the pandemic I decided I wanted to truely live, I wanna travel, experience my life.
This feels like the only way I get my power back. It still sounds crazy. I just want to be able to wake up and be able to breathe again. I honestly feel like when this is all over that I will get up and let out a breath I didnt even know I was holding. I'll wake up and my heart wont be so heavy. I honestly have no idea what the future holds, but after this is over , I feel like I owe it to myself to find out.

Hi all, I have been banking with CO (Capital One) for almost 14 years. My credit score is great and I have an outstanding history with CO. I have never had any need to file a dispute with CO until yesterday.
My daughter’s birthday was yesterday, and I got in touch with a local baker 2 months ago to try and order a custom birthday cake for her. I was very clear from the beginning about the design, colors, and theme of the party. I asked the baker several times if they could create a design that I had picked from Instagram which fit what we were looking for. The baker’s assistant assured me that they could create the exact cake we wanted, which was a 2-tiered cake with a custom cake topper. They told me the cost and other details, I made a deposit of about $55 to reserve our spot, and had until 2 weeks before the event to get back to the baker and finalize the guest numbers and the cake size. I got in touch with them as soon as I received the final RSVPs as we agreed upon so that we could finalize the flavor and I could pay the remainder of the balance which was about $214 with transaction fees! They charged my card, and right after that I started getting messages about where I got the original design and if I could have my cookie baker (I have a fantastic cookie artist who created matching cookies for the party to go with the cake, her work is beautiful) send them her stencils so that they could use them to create the design for the cake. I told them that my cookie baker does her cookies free hand without using any stencils. They said that it was ok and that they would find a solution. They sent me several other designs very different from what I had originally sent them, and then they told me that they could not create the fondant cake topper that they initially promised (they were going to charge $50 for this) and that they could create the topper out of cardboard!
I was so shocked and told them that I would not put cardboard on my daughter’s cake. We had over 30 guests including family and her school friends. We had reserved an indoor playground for the kids to play, ordered custom cookies, favors, pizza, and drinks for everyone and spent all the money for the party and the cake so my daughter could get the beautiful birthday cake that she wanted. Them offering to put a non-edible item on the cake was very upsetting. Still, since it was 2 weeks before the event, and I knew other places would not accept a custom cake order on such short notice, I decided to forget about the cake topper and just have them make the cake itself. After that, they sent me some other stencil designs to choose from, but none were close at all to what I had asked. I was very upset and annoyed, so I decided to change the cake’s design completely and sent them a simple cake covered in buttercream that just needed to have some basic piping techniques to create some simple flowers, etc. They again assured me that it was okay and that they would deliver the exact cake I had asked for.
Since the bakery was located over an hour away from us, we decided for them to deliver the cake for which I had to pay another $85. On Friday, the day before my daughter’s birthday, the driver brought the cake and put it on our foyer shoe closet and left immediately without me having the time to look at it. I brought the cake to the kitchen and immediately I noticed the very bold pink, yellow, and purple colors, poorly done one note piping all over, and the ugliest most basic fondant flowers I have ever seen on a cake. I am not a baker, but just like many other parents, we had to make birthday cakes for our daughter during the pandemic, and I can guarantee you that what my husband and I created then was much more visually appealing than the cake this baker had delivered. I could not believe that they could not pipe simple flowers or even match the colors to the photo I sent them with several color palette to make sure they kept the color according to our birthday theme.
Stressed out and panicked, I reached out to the person I was in touch with, took a couple of photos of the cake, and sent them to her. She said she was shocked that the baker had not followed the instructions and that, yes, the cake looks different, etc! She said she would get in touch with the baker to see what has happened and what they can do.
I waited anxiously for half an hour and I called to inquire about what had happened and why my 2 months of communication was not enough to stop them from creating such a hideous cake!
They told me that if I’m not happy with the cake I should take it to my local grocery store bakery and that they can redo the design (I did actually tried this and called them but both Costco and Wegman’s told me they cannot do this due to liability issues. They only redo the designs for cakes that were purchased from them). Then the baker told me to take the cake to her in the morning of my event so that she can redo it in 30 mins! I told her that I have other appointments in the morning and all the last minute stuff that I must take care of and that is not something that I can do. Also, looking at the cake, the poor piping, the colors, etc. I had lost all of my faith in this business and what the baker was promising. If she really could make the cake she promised, why had she simply not done it in the first place? I told them that she can create a brand new cake, send me the picture and if it is the cake that I ordered or anything close to what I had ordered, my husband would take the first cake back in the morning and pick up the new cake. Just so you know the cake’s flavor was a simple vanilla cake with American butter cream, nothing too complicated for a so-called baker to make in few hours. They refused that and said that they were sorry, but their cake tastes great even though visually it is not what you asked for!
I was so frustrated and almost in tears, I did not want to disappoint my daughter who was looking forward to her birthday and seeing this cake. I printed out the design and ran to my local grocery store bakery and plead with them to help create something similar to the cake we had wanted. The lady working there was so nice and despite the last minute request, she agreed to stack 4 of their premade cakes and decorate them to create a similar design. When I showed her the pictures of the other cake that I paid over $350 to received, she could not believe the poor job that they had done.
I came home, still nervous about how the new cake would turn out when I picked it up in the morning. The baker called a few hours later to let me know that accepting my cake was a mistake. She is not comfortable working with butter cream and when I asked her about the simple piping she told me she did not have the various piping tips and tools so she only use the one piping tip that she had and piped the entire cake with it. For context, I have bought decorating tip sets from Michael’s and Target in the past and they cost less than $10 for a set of 6-8 design tips! They charged me that much money and did not bother to spend $10 to buy some reusable tools, or even not having them in the first place!
I confronted her about the color choices and the fact that it was nothing like what I requested. She would not give me a straight answer! I told her that her cake was sitting in my fridge, and that I would neither use it for the party nor eat it, because I was utterly disgusted with their dishonesty, and that she can either come and pick up the cake or tell me to dispose of it. I also told her that I am calling the bank to initiate a dispute for not providing the services that were agreed upon. I have all our texts and communications about them assuring me they would deliver what I requested. CO has temporarily credited my account for all 3 of the charges they made. I picked up the grocery store cake and although it is not what we had in mind, given the less than 24 hours that they had, their design, techniques, and colors were good enough to save my daughter’s birthday yesterday. I was very upset that, despite spending all this money for a nice party for my girl, I ended up serving our guests cheap premade cakes! I contacted the baker to see what she wants me to do with the cake. I cannot donate it or give it to someone because honestly now I worry that when it looks this terrible, then the flavor and taste could be horrible too. I need to use the space in our fridge so can I just throw away this ugly cake? Will Capital One reverse the charges if the baker claims that they still delivered the cake to me?
I have had so much stress since Friday morning and just want to be done with this nightmare. Does the baker have any say in this or will the bank side with me since I have all the evidence that they failed to deliver what was agreed upon and that I did not use the cake for the intended event and, due to lack of communication and us needing our fridge space I had the right to dispose of the cake?

Hi all, I have been banking with CO (Capital One) for almost 14 years. My credit score is great and I have an outstanding history with CO. I have never had any need to file a dispute with CO until yesterday.
My daughter’s birthday was yesterday, and I got in touch with a local baker 2 months ago to try and order a custom birthday cake for her. I was very clear from the beginning about the design, colors, and theme of the party. I asked the baker several times if they could create a design that I had picked from Instagram which fit what we were looking for. The baker’s assistant assured me that they could create the exact cake we wanted, which was a 2-tiered cake with a custom cake topper. They told me the cost and other details, I made a deposit of about $55 to reserve our spot, and had until 2 weeks before the event to get back to the baker and finalize the guest numbers and the cake size. I got in touch with them as soon as I received the final RSVPs as we agreed upon so that we could finalize the flavor and I could pay the remainder of the balance which was about $214 with transaction fees! They charged my card, and right after that I started getting messages about where I got the original design and if I could have my cookie baker (I have a fantastic cookie artist who created matching cookies for the party to go with the cake, her work is beautiful) send them her stencils so that they could use them to create the design for the cake. I told them that my cookie baker does her cookies free hand without using any stencils. They said that it was ok and that they would find a solution. They sent me several other designs very different from what I had originally sent them, and then they told me that they could not create the fondant cake topper that they initially promised (they were going to charge $50 for this) and that they could create the topper out of cardboard!

My office did an expensive birthday party for me. I’ve been working there 2 years and have brought some good results over time so they value me.
They did a surprise party with a 3kg cake, 6 large pizzas, sodas, decorations, and a bottle of champagne 🍾 this was a good gesture, on top of the good amount they must have spent for all of this.
While this is all good it puts me in an awkward situation; I got another job that pays 200k more than what I earn. I was planning to tender my resignation on Monday after the weekend.
I now feel extremely guilty and can imagine how heartbroken my boss and colleagues would be. It makes it worse after the kind gesture they just freshly did for me.
Should I proceed with this? I need to start the new job in exactly 30 days.
