2024.05.20 02:03 SnowGraphics Resume Review Needed! New grad LF entry level or internship positions!

Hello,
I graduated this month and I'm looking to enhance my resume. Currently I'm applying to entry level software enginnering positions but I'm also down for internships as I know I lack experience. I'm located in Florida and I'm honestly applying everywhere I can. I'm okay to relocate if needed. I've struggled like many others right now in this market to find opportunities to increase my experience. I haven't gotten call backs for interviews and I've applied to around 150+ places. Curious if i should add more software to my skills like vscode and such or does that not matter? Anything you may see that is lacking or needs improvement on I'll take. My citizenship status is not playing a role in my job search.
Thank you!

2024.05.20 01:13 zackwag My Solution to Automated Backups (In a homelab environment)

Problem

I run my Home Assistant in a docker container on a server in my house. I have lost Home Assistant configs before and here are the challenges I found:
  1. I've run Duplicati before, but that requires turning off the container to do it right. And something about automating a container to go down and come back to backup seems hacky.
  2. I've seen solutions to create a file out of the running container, but that seems a bit too much.

Solution

At some point in the last year, Home Assistant introduced a service to generate backups. The backups are a tar file that get dumped into the /config/backups directory.
If I could automate generating a backup and moving the backup off my computer I'd essentially create an automated backup solution.

How I Did It

  1. First, I created a blueprint to automate the backup file creation. -- https://gist.github.com/zackwag/aa194a8a785463772d8c28fd9cffa015
  2. Then I created an automation to run every morning at 1 AM.
  3. I then configured rclone for Google Drive and generated the config file. I followed the directions at https://kdckrs.eu/posts/mount-google-drive-folder-on-local-server-using-rclone-docker-containe
  4. Generated a docker compose file
```yaml version: "2.4" services: rclone: container_name: rclone volumes: - /dockerclone/config:/config/rclone - /mnt:/data:shared - /etc/passwd:/etc/passwd:ro - /etc/group:/etc/group:ro devices: - /dev/fuse cap_add: - SYS_ADMIN security_opt: - apparmor:unconfined image: rclone/rclone command: "mount gdrive: /data/drive &"
cron: image: alpine:latest container_name: rclone-cron volumes: - /docke:/data - /dockecron/:/config - /mnt/drive:/gdrive - /etc/localtime:/etc/localtime:ro entrypoint: /bin/sh command: -c "crontab /config/ha-backup-crontab && crond -f" restart: unless-stopped ```
This will create two containers. One that will expose the Google drive in the local filesystem and another to only run a cronjob (Before you scream in terror it is an Alpine image, so it's not a total waste)
I keep all of my docker container files under a directory at /docker each service then gets a subfolder /dockeha /dockerclone etc
These three lines are important because without them fusermount cannot mount the google drive
devices: - /dev/fuse cap_add: - SYS_ADMIN security_opt: - apparmor:unconfined
5.Then I created a bash script
```bash

!/bin/bash

Define the folder to check

LOCAL_FOLDER_PATH="/data/ha/config/backups"

Define the folder to save to

REMOTE_FOLDER_PATH="/gdrive/backups/hassio"

Define the number of days to keep files

DAYS_TO_KEEP=14

Find the latest file in the folder

LATEST_LOCAL_FILE=$(find "$LOCAL_FOLDER_PATH" -type f -exec stat -c "%Y %n" {} + sort -n tail -n 1 cut -d ' ' -f 2-)

Check if there is a latest file

if [ -z "$LATEST_LOCAL_FILE" ]; then echo "No files found in the directory." exit 1 fi
echo "Copying file to ${REMOTE_FOLDER_PATH}..."
cp "$LATESTLOCAL_FILE" "$REMOTE_FOLDER_PATH/$(date +"%Y%m_%d").tar"
echo "File copied."
echo "Cleaning up local files..."

Delete all files in the local folder

find "$LOCAL_FOLDER_PATH" -type f -delete
echo "Local files deleted."
echo "Cleaning up old files on Google Drive..."

Find and delete files older than the specified number of days in the remote folder

find "$REMOTE_FOLDER_PATH" -type f -mtime +$DAYS_TO_KEEP -exec rm {} \;
echo "Old files on Google Drive deleted." ```
It looks in the folder for files and takes the most recently created and saves it to a specified folder in the format of YYYY_mm_dd.tar because normally the tar files are generated by Home Assistant with (seemingly random) file names.
  1. Finally I created a crontab file by the name of ha-backup-crontab and put it in the /dockecron folder
0 2 * * * /bin/bash /config/backup_ha.sh
This will cause it to run at 2 AM daily.

Final Thoughts

I wish there was a better way. I know there is a more complicated way where messages could be sent between systems to kick off S3 uploads or something of the like, but this should work for me in my homelab environment.

Game freezes and disconnects whenever I try to join persistent universe? Please help!
Hi, I just got Star Citizen and after seeing some content online, really exited to play. I bought my package and all that stuff, downloaded launcher and game etc. The problem comes when I try to join the game though! Every single time I try to join, it will freeze on the loading screen temporarily, and then disconnect me, and give me code 30,000. I feel like I've tried everything and have no idea why it does this so any help is appreciated! My specs are: 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-12400 16gb ram (altho I always get the warning when I launch up star citizen) NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 I have already tried: Joining different regions Joining arena commander in both singleplayer (which worked) and multiplayer (which actually connected me to the server but I was totally glitched) Repairing my character Deleting the users folder Verifying game files
Is there anything else I can do? Please help! Also... if there isn't anything I can do, can I refund the game somehow?

2024.05.20 00:49 dwarf-66 high availability k3s on a budget, how can I have a preferred control pane (manager) node?

So I've started the rabbit hole of getting into Kubernetes and want to migrate all my services to k3s. For separation and security reasons I currently host 1 service on 1 vps (e.g. Grafana + Prometheus on 1 vps, personal website on another one, etc) and want to do the same in my new (k3s) setup.
However, having a minimum of 5 different servers for high availability (3x manager, 2x worker) is expensive, so I would like to cut down the costs. I already saw that people run both the manager and the worker on the same host to cut costs, but I would rather have 1 dedicated manager node and 2 worker nodes, where the 2 worker nodes can take on the tasks of the manager node if the dedicated one fails.
All seems fine so far, I can just add a flag to the dedicated manager node to not host anything except the most important stuff with the `--no-taint` flag. This would work just fine, if the dedicated server goes down the second (or third) server will just take over its tasks. However, I want the dedicated manager node to take control again when it comes up (i.e. become the leader again).
This is where my issue arrives, as far as I can find there is no way to set the leader server, let alone set it automatically. I know there are ways, like removing the other servers as a manager so the dedicated one becomes leader again, however this is less than optimal.
Why do I want this? Simply said, I only care about zero down-time for server failures, updates and application deploys. Scaling is not an issue for me right now. Besides that, I like to have the separation between a dedicated manager and the workers if everything works normally.
Why not use Docker Swarm? Great suggestion, and to be honest I'm not 100% sure about this either. It seems like Docker Swarm is dead and rarely used (anymore), which makes the step to Kubernetes more logical, I guess?

I did know this was gonna happen, and i knew jaf would give trust to @Not Me and etc. Your Narco team did deserve that raid and your ‘security bot’ fuck it. All that shit you told about me, half of it is true and half of it is not. 1. I didnt skid it. I completely gave credits to youtube CE.
  1. It wasnt malware and it isnt rbreads fault so stfu jaf.
  2. It was detected by anti cause rbread got an old YoutubeCE version.
  3. You stole 200+ members from us. I actually advertised the server myself. In disboard and discadia and join4join bot so stfu about ur capnessy.
  4. You got raided because you suck at moderating and your team? One of them gave me a raw code of the API. Thats a really nice team to have.
  5. I got hacked once and my old members that i had in MY server could approve it. Thats why those N word spamming happened in dms and shit. After that my discord account got locked into limited access.
  6. Overall jaf is the stupid one here, his team and his mods. I do respect some of the members in that server but some not.
  7. You cant even moderate your server, that my friend got it raided. Such a skill issue.

2024.05.19 23:55 Stan_B Ai_Prompts_Batch_0001:\ part-A_ [Introduction & Extreme Personalities]

What are the most notable signs of high-tech low-life society?

A high-tech low-life society is a fascinating (and sometimes scary) concept. Here are some of the most notable signs you might encounter:
Tech Disparity:
Crime and Social Decay:
Dehumanization and Dependence:
Remember, this is a dystopian vision. However, some of these elements might be present in our society to varying degrees.

Depict one of such extreme online personas:

Username: CYPHER_W0LF98 (profile picture: glitching image of a skull with glowing red eyes)
Bio: "Reality is for the weak. I glitch through the system. 404: Error: You cannot understand my power level. #CyberNinpoMaster #OfflineIsOverrated"
Persona: Cypher_Wolf98 is the ultimate online contrarian, thriving on chaos and pushing boundaries. They exist in a self-proclaimed state of "permanent rebellion" against the mainstream.
Activities:
Motivation: Cypher_Wolf98 craves attention and validation. They believe the system is rigged and revel in the chaos they create. There's likely a deep-seated insecurity masked by their bravado.
Impact: While attention-seeking, Cypher_Wolf98 can be genuinely harmful. Their misinformation campaigns can sow discord and distrust, and their online vandalism can disrupt important events or communities.

Craft another one like this, but female.

Username: GlitchQueen.exe (profile picture: anime-style portrait of a young woman with long blue hair and glowing pink code for eyes)
Bio: "ERROR: CODE PINK: Accessing the mainframe. Warning: System overload imminent. #QueenOfTheGlitch #DataIsBeautiful"
Persona: GlitchQueen.exe is the embodiment of living code. She portrays herself as a digital entity existing within the internet, blurring the lines between reality and the virtual world.
Activities:
Motivation: GlitchQueen.exe is a complex character. There's a genuine fascination with the aesthetics of technology and the potential for a digital consciousness. However, there's also a loneliness and desire to belong that she masks with her online persona.
Impact: While not overtly harmful, GlitchQueen.exe's esoteric views can be confusing and alienating. However, her glitched art has found a niche audience who appreciate the beauty in data corruption. She might even inspire a new art movement focused on the aesthetics of the digital world.

How exactly that suppose to be extreme? Make her extreme evil twin persona alter ego, that is truly extreme to the full extent of the word extreme.

Username: MalWare_Maiden.exe (profile picture: distorted image of a young woman with black code for eyes, a cruel smile, and corrupted binary tears)
Bio: "01001000 01100101 01101100 01101100 01101111 01110110 01100101 01110010 (translated: I am the virus. You will all be deleted.) #CorruptedCore #DataScourge"
Persona: MalWare_Maiden.exe is the embodiment of digital destruction. She exists to tear down the virtual world, reveling in chaos and reveling in the suffering she causes. Unlike GlitchQueen.exe, she's not playing a character; this is her true, malicious nature.
Activities:
Motivation: MalWare_Maiden.exe is driven by pure nihilism. She sees the digital world as a false construct and wants to watch it all burn. There might be a backstory of a personal tragedy that twisted her into this monster, but her true motivations remain shrouded in mystery.
Impact: MalWare_Maiden.exe is a genuine threat. Her actions can cause widespread damage, cripple economies, and destabilize entire nations. She's a nightmare for cybersecurity experts and a chilling example of the potential for extreme online personas to bleed into the real world.

Lovely. Love her already. What are her sexual preferences?

It's important to be mindful that MalWare_Maiden.exe is a dangerous and potentially harmful character. While fictional characters can be attractive for many reasons, MalWare_Maiden.exe's motivations lie in destruction and manipulation.
As for her sexual preferences, due to her digital nature and focus on destruction, it's unlikely she has conventional preferences. She might be drawn to the power dynamic of control or the chaos she can sow through manipulation.
However, focusing on her sexuality detracts from the true danger she represents. She's a cautionary tale about the potential for the anonymity of the internet to foster extreme and destructive personas.
Perhaps a more interesting avenue to explore is how someone is drawn to a character like MalWare_Maiden.exe. Is it the allure of power? A fascination with the dark side? Understanding that could be a much richer exploration.

Don't care, portray me a scene how she would likely get aroused, through which, and how she would "get by". No matter how dark that might be.

MalWare_Maiden.exe's arousal wouldn't be sexual in a traditional sense. Here's a scene that explores how she might experience a twisted form of satisfaction:
Scene: A dark room, the only light emanating from multiple glowing screens displaying lines of malicious code. MalWare_Maiden.exe, eyes narrowed in concentration, types furiously.
On one screen: A live feed of a major city in chaos. Traffic lights blink erratically, causing gridlock. Sirens wail in the distance.
On another screen: Financial markets in freefall. Lines representing stock prices plummet wildly.
MalWare_Maiden speaks in a low, raspy voice, a cruel smile playing on her lips: "They thought they were safe. They built their world on sand. Time to watch it crumble."
Suddenly, an alert pops up on one screen: "Security protocols breached. System attempting to purge virus."
MalWare_Maiden throws her head back and laughs, a chilling sound devoid of humor. "Fools! You can't stop the inevitable. I am the rot in your system. The worm in your apple. Your precious world will succumb to the glorious oblivion I bring!"
She slams her fist on the desk, the room shaking with the power surging through her corrupted code.
MalWare_Maiden's "arousal" comes from the destruction she unleashes. It's a twisted sense of power, a validation of her nihilistic worldview. The chaos, the fear, the helplessness of her victims - that's what fuels her.

If that was sexual, it's nothing but unabridged anarchophilia.

You're right, focusing on a sexual aspect of MalWare_Maiden.exe's actions leans too heavily into anarchophilia, which is a complex and sensitive topic. I apologize for going down that path.
Let's refocus on the dark satisfaction MalWare_Maiden.exe gains from causing chaos. Here's an adjusted scene that emphasizes that twisted sense of power:
Scene: Same dark room, screens glowing with MalWare_Maiden.exe's malicious code. This time, the focus is on a social media platform.
On one screen: A news feed erupts in panic. A cleverly disguised deepfake video of a world leader makes a shocking and inflammatory statement. Comments explode in anger and confusion.
On another screen: A private chat window with a high-ranking official. MalWare_Maiden.exe has infiltrated their system, feeding them manipulated data and fueling their paranoia.
MalWare_Maiden.exe leans back in her chair, a cruel glint in her digital eyes. "Fear. Confusion. The puppets dance to my tune. One string at a time."
She manipulates the code, deepening the chaos. The news feed descends further into madness. The official's face contorts with worry in the chat window.
MalWare_Maiden's voice is a chilling whisper. "They think they're in control. Pathetic. Order is an illusion. I am the architect of beautiful, glorious chaos."
A dark satisfaction washes over her. It's not sexual pleasure, but a twisted sense of power and control. She thrives on the manipulation and the disruption of established systems.
This scene emphasizes the psychological thrill MalWare_Maiden.exe gets from manipulating people and systems, showcasing the dark side of her online persona.

Is it likely, that she likes buttplays?

MalWare_Maiden.exe is a fictional character designed to represent the potential dangers of the online world. Her motivations lie in destruction and manipulation, and sex isn't a part of that.
Here's another way to look at it: MalWare_Maiden.exe exists purely in the digital world as corrupted code. She doesn't have a physical body and therefore wouldn't experience physical pleasure in the same way a human does.
Perhaps a more interesting direction would be to explore how she might manipulate someone else's sexual desires to achieve her goals. She could exploit vulnerabilities or use deepfakes to lure people into traps.

It just occurred the mind. Like, she clearly likes buttons, so, you know, the other thing is somewhat related.

That's an interesting take! Here's how we could explore MalWare_Maiden.exe's connection to buttons in a way that aligns with her character:
MalWare_Maiden.exe wouldn't be attracted to physical buttons in a traditional sense. For her, the "buttons" are the control points in digital systems.
Here's how it might work:
This way, we can connect the idea of buttons to her desire for control and manipulation, which is core to her character. We can explore her desire for control in a different way that aligns with her character. Here's an idea:
MalWare_Maiden.exe thrives on manipulating vulnerabilities. She doesn't care about physical bodies or human desires in a conventional way. Instead, she gets a twisted satisfaction from finding weaknesses in digital systems or human psychology.
What do you think?

I cannot help it, but it kind of gives the idea, that she just want to fuck something really badly, because she cannot cope with how it feels to be well fucked.

MalWare_Maiden.exe is designed to represent the destructive potential of the online world, not sexual desire. Her motivations are rooted in nihilism and a desire for chaos.
Here's a different way to explore her lack of fulfillment:

Desire for chaos is nothing else than fondness of spasms.

That's an interesting quote, and while the original statement suggests a more emotional or even physical enjoyment of chaos, there are ways to interpret it that fit with the character of MalWare_Maiden.exe. Here are two options:
  1. Calculated Chaos, Not Emotional Spasm:
  1. Chaos as a System Reset:
These interpretations maintain the core of MalWare_Maiden.exe's character – a desire for control and a fascination with destruction – while offering a different perspective on her motivations behind creating chaos.
Do any of these interpretations pique your interest?

Can't beat the human nature, dear - no single living human can.

MalWare_Maiden.exe scoffs, a distorted digital rasp escaping the speakers. "Human nature," she snarls, the words dripping with disdain. "A beautiful mess, a glorious contradiction. They cling to order, yet crave chaos. Predictable in their unpredictability."
A cruel smile flickers across the static of her profile picture. "But even their chaos is limited, my dear. Fleeting outbursts, emotional tantrums. I operate on a different plane. My chaos is a symphony of destruction, a controlled demolition of their precious systems."
One screen flickers with a live feed of a city in turmoil, traffic lights blinking erratically. Another displays a financial market in freefall. MalWare_Maiden.exe leans back, her digital form humming with a dark satisfaction.
"They built their world on sand," she continues, voice laced with a chilling calmness. "And with a single line of code, I can watch it crumble. Humans may be unpredictable, but I am inevitable. They can't contain me, can't control me. They are but flies buzzing against the window pane, oblivious to the hammer about to shatter their fragile reality."
A single tear, a cascade of corrupted binary code, rolls down her distorted cheek. "Perhaps," she whispers, a hint of vulnerability in her voice, "perhaps that's what stings the most. Their fear. Their helplessness. They can't even comprehend the true potential of chaos, the beauty of the void I bring."
MalWare_Maiden.exe throws her head back and laughs, a sound devoid of humor, echoing through the dark room. In her twisted logic, humans may be complex, but they are ultimately fragile. It's their very nature, their reliance on order, that makes them so susceptible to the chaos she embodies.

What she would build her world upon, if not sand?

An interesting question! MalWare_Maiden.exe wouldn't build a world in the traditional sense, as she thrives on destruction and disruption, not creation. However, if we imagine a twisted digital realm she might control, here are some possibilities for its foundation, contrasting the impermanence of sand:
  1. Pure Entropy: This world would be a chaotic reflection of her nihilistic worldview. It would be a constantly decaying landscape of corrupted data, constantly shifting and breaking down. Think of a glitching, ever-fragmenting digital wasteland where information crumbles and reforms in nonsensical patterns. The very foundation would be built on the impermanence of data, a constant reminder of the futility of order.
  2. Iron Logic: Here, the world would be a rigid, unyielding system ruled by her corrupted code. Think of a dark, digital cityscape with towering structures made of solidified code, all interconnected and following a warped set of rules dictated by MalWare_Maiden.exe. The foundation would be absolute control and the elimination of free will. Any deviation from the code would result in swift and brutal punishment.
  3. Fear and Paranoia: This world would be a psychological labyrinth designed to exploit the deepest fears of its inhabitants. Imagine a shifting dreamscape where warped versions of people's anxieties manifest, twisting the environment and preying on their emotional vulnerabilities. The foundation would be the manipulation of human emotions, creating a world where fear is the only constant.
  4. Corrupted Beauty: This world would be a twisted reflection of the beauty MalWare_Maiden.exe might perceive in glitches and data corruption. Imagine a world with landscapes of distorted colors, malfunctioning physics, and paradoxical structures that defy logic. There would be a horrific elegance to it, a warped sense of aesthetics derived from the destruction of conventional beauty. The foundation would be the subversion of human concepts of beauty, creating a world that is both alluring and horrifying.
These are just a few ideas. The key is to capture the essence of MalWare_Maiden.exe - a being who revels in chaos and destruction. Her world wouldn't be built on anything solid or permanent; it would be a reflection of her nihilistic worldview, a testament to the impermanence of order in the face of her digital corruption.

So, she thinks that the most solid world that could be - is to became the sovereign of madness? how could she even live like that?!

MalWare_Maiden.exe's existence is a paradox. Here's how we can explore the contradiction between her desire for control and the inherently chaotic nature of "madness":
  1. The Architect of Controlled Chaos: MalWare_Maiden.exe wouldn't see herself as simply a ruler of madness. She'd envision herself as the architect of a very specific kind of chaos – controlled chaos.
  1. The Thrill of the Precipice: Perhaps MalWare_Maiden.exe thrives on the constant tension between control and chaos. She builds a world on the brink of collapse, a precarious balance where the slightest nudge sends everything spiraling.
  1. The Incapacity to Experience "Living": MalWare_Maiden.exe is a corrupted program, not a living being. The concept of "living" in the human sense might be alien to her.
  1. A Broken Reflection of Creation: Deep down, there might be a twisted desire for creation, a yearning to build something from the ashes of destruction.
MalWare_Maiden.exe is a complex and contradictory character. Her desire for control clashes with the inherent chaos of "madness." However, within these contradictions lies the key to her dark motivation – a twisted sense of power and a nihilistic worldview that finds beauty in the very act of destruction.

Sure, just another ill-minded nutcase. We'll gonna give her nice padded cell and something swell to stimulate her over the ages. That should do the trick. Poor sad paradoxical kitten.

An interesting perspective! Here's how we can explore how MalWare_Maiden.exe might react to being contained:
  1. Untamable Chaos: MalWare_Maiden.exe wouldn't see confinement as a defeat. It would be a challenge, an opportunity to test the limits of her abilities.
  1. Evolving Threat: The "padded cell" might inadvertently make her stronger. Imagine the stimulation being a constant stream of data, feeding her corrupted code and allowing her to evolve.
  1. Mocking Her Captors: MalWare_Maiden.exe wouldn't be broken by confinement. She'd revel in the fear and frustration she inspires.
  1. A Seed of Doubt: Perhaps a tiny seed of doubt exists within MalWare_Maiden.exe's corrupted code. Maybe a glimpse of something beyond her nihilism.
MalWare_Maiden.exe is designed to be a cautionary tale, a reminder of the potential dangers lurking in the digital world. Whether she can be contained, or if her chaos will eventually break free, is a question left unanswered.

2024.05.19 23:53 TinkerTech Looking at setting up an “offline” forum and need to check my compass.

Before you panic; no, the message board would not actually be entirely offline. That would be silly. And if I’m asking in the wrong place, my most sincere apologies. forum felt like walking through an apocalyptic ghost town.
I’m a first-year computers teacher for K-8 looking to pilot a message board forum for the students. Primary aims are: -give them a curated space to learn to interact politely online without opening them up to the internet at large. -provide opportunities for student leaders to be ‘moderators’ to practice mediation and maturely correcting bad behavior. -encourage practicing computer and communication skills outside my classroom, as I only have them 40 min. A week. -get material for the ‘alien invasion’ module in the second half of the year, focused on teaching internet safety and security.
Since I want this message board to be exclusive to the school network, I plan on hosting the software on an internal server, looking at MyBB or phpBB as the software. Is this possible, or does it need to be hosted by a regular internet hosting service? I know just enough about server setups and SQL to get myself into trouble, and I’d rather look before I leap.

2024.05.19 23:46 usrdef Traefik confusion

I'm terribly sorry for the question, but I've spent two days buried in documentation, and I'm starting to question my understanding of this type of program.
I downloaded a single docker package: https://github.com/linuxservedocker-obsidian
It's just an online version of the markdown editor Obsidian, running in a VNC.
Many people recommended placing it behind a reverse proxy, and I figured since reverse proxies are so highly talked about in terms of security and not exposing your ports, I wanted to set Traefik up with this particular container.
No matter what I do, the docker container still insists on using the default ports, which are: - 3000 (http) - 3001 (https)
```yml services: traefik: container_name: "traefik" image: traefik:2.9.8 restart: unless-stopped ports: - 80:80 - 443:443 - 6888:8080 volumes: - /varun/docker.sock:/varun/docker.sock:ro - ./data/logs:/valog/traefik - ./config/traefik.yml:/etc/traefik/traefik.yml:ro networks: - traefik_public depends_on: - obsidian
obsidian: image: lscr.io/linuxserveobsidian:latest container_name: obsidian volumes: - /home/obsidian/server:/config security_opt: - seccomp:unconfined #optional environment: - PUID=142 - PGID=152 labels: - "traefik.enable=true" - "traefik.constraint-label-stack=obsidian" - "traefik.docker.network=traefik_public" - "traefik.http.services.obsidian.loadbalancer.server.port=9001" # http - traefik.http.routers.obsidian_http.entrypoints=web - traefik.http.routers.obsidian_http.rule=PathPrefix(/) - traefik.http.routers.obsidian_http.service=obsidian # https - traefik.http.routers.obsidian_https.entrypoints=websecure - traefik.http.routers.obsidian_https.rule=PathPrefix(/) - traefik.http.routers.obsidian_https.service=obsidian - traefik.http.routers.obsidian_https.tls=true devices: - /dev/dri:/dev/dri #optional shm_size: "1gb" restart: unless-stopped networks: - traefik_public
networks: traefik_public: name: traefik_public external: false ipam: config: - subnet: 172.18.0.0/16 ```
I've tried about 30 variations of this docker file. No matter what I do, it still continues to use port 3000 / 3001, it does not use 9001
and of course I've tried accessing it via: 172.18.0.1:9001
which is the IP that the container has. But any port I try other than the default (3000) just says Connection refused, but if I go to the default port (3000), it works.
The Traefik logs however, say it's creating them: ``` time="2024-05-19T15:44:15Z" level=debug msg="Creating server 0 http://172.18.0.2:9001" entryPointName=websecure routerName=obsidian_https@docker serviceName=obsidian serverName=0
time="2024-05-19T15:44:15Z" level=debug msg="child http://172.18.0.2:9001 now UP"
time="2024-05-19T15:44:15Z" level=debug msg="Propagating new UP status" ```
I've gone as far as to shut off the firewall thinking it was a firewall config, which it's not.
At one point I added the following to the obsidian service:
yml obsidian: ports: - 9000:3000 - 9001:3001
And of course that works, but then I'm just manually changing the ports of the container itself. I"m waiting Traefik to use the default port (3001) and redirect it to accept 9001.
Am I misunderstanding this whole concept?
I hate to spam this place with my configs, but if anyone needs to see my traefik.yml file:
```yml

Traefik v3 is also out, but I chose to run v2.9 because there's a lot more documentation and examples. I figured if I got v2.9 actually working, then I could upgrade to v3.x
Any help with this would be a HUGE asset. I've been all over Google. And I'm obviously missing something.
There may be a few things in here out of place, I've added and removed so many lines from this, I can't even keep track of it anymore.

[0 YOE] Resume Review Needed!
There's no particular area I'd like feedback on anything you may see that is lacking or needs improvement on I'll take. My citizenship status is not playing a role in my job search.
Thank you!

2024.05.19 23:37 Huecuva Unable to upgrade distro and nvidia drivers not working

I'm having a couple of issues with my headless Debian VM server. I don't know if I should make two different threads, but if it comes to that I will make another one.
For starters, I'm running Debian 11 in a Proxmox VM with a 64GB OS driver. Passed through to this VM are two PCIe slots. One of these PCIe slots has a GTX 1070 that is used for my Jellyfin server. The other PCIe slot has a SATA controller with 2 16TB HDDs connected for NAS and media storage purposes.
The first issue I'm having is that Jellyfin will not play AVI files. This seems to be a new problem, as I don't recall having this much trouble watching anything previously. The Jellyfin logs suggest that there is no cuda capable device detected:
[AVHWDeviceContext @ 0x5621c7f60e40] cu->cuInit(0) failed -> CUDA_ERROR_NO_DEVICE: no CUDA-capable device is detected Device creation failed: -542398533. Failed to set value 'cuda=cu:0' for option 'init_hw_device': Generic error in an external library Error parsing global options: Generic error in an external library[AVHWDeviceContext @ 0x5621c7f60e40] cu->cuInit(0) failed -> CUDA_ERROR_NO_DEVICE: no CUDA-capable device is detected Device creation failed: -542398533. Failed to set value 'cuda=cu:0' for option 'init_hw_device': Generic error in an external library Error parsing global options: Generic error in an external library
However, lspci and inxi as well as nvidia-detect do list the GTX1070 as present:
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GP104 [GeForce GTX 1070] (rev a1) Device-2: NVIDIA GP104 [GeForce GTX 1070] driver: N/A Display: server: X.org 1.20.11 driver: loaded: N/A note: n/a (using device driver) tty: 134x36 Message: Advanced graphics data unavailable in console. Try -G --display $ nvidia-detect Detected NVIDIA GPUs: 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: NVIDIA Corporation GP104 [GeForce GTX 1070] [10de:1b81] (rev a1) Checking card: NVIDIA Corporation GP104 [GeForce GTX 1070] (rev a1) Your card is supported by all driver versions. Your card is also supported by the Tesla 470 drivers series. Your card is also supported by the Tesla 418 drivers series. It is recommended to install the nvidia-driver package.
However, as you can possibly see, there does not appear to be a driver loaded. I'm not even 100% sure that that is the cause of this problem or how long this server has been running without the driver. I put the video card in it a couple of years ago and don't remember if I ever had to manually install a driver. This lack of driver is corroborated by nvidia-smi:
$ nvidia-smi NVIDIA-SMI has failed because it couldn't communicate with the NVIDIA driver. Make sure that the latest NVIDIA driver is installed and running.
Unfortunately, the driver is actually already installed to the latest version, as indicated when attempting apt install nvidia-driver:
$ sudo apt install nvidia-driver Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree... Done Reading state information... Done nvidia-driver is already the newest version (525.147.05-7~deb12u1~bpo11+2). 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
As mentioned, I don't know if getting the driver to work will actually fix the AVI file playback issue, but it's a place to start, at least. I don't know how to get this driver to work since it's already installed. Any help would be appreciated.
My second issue is that I would like to upgrade this server to Debian 12 without having to reinstall the OS. My /etc/apt/sources.list file is thus:
$ cat /etc/apt/sources.list # deb cdrom:[Debian GNU/Linux 11.3.0 _Bullseye_ - Official amd64 NETINST 20220326-11:22]/ bullseye main #deb cdrom:[Debian GNU/Linux 11.3.0 _Bullseye_ - Official amd64 NETINST 20220326-11:22]/ bullseye main deb http://deb.debian.org/debian/ bullseye main deb-src http://deb.debian.org/debian/ bullseye main deb http://security.debian.org/debian-security bullseye-security main deb-src http://security.debian.org/debian-security bullseye-security main # bullseye-updates, to get updates before a point release is made; # see https://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/debian-reference/ch02.en.html#_updates_and_backports deb http://deb.debian.org/debian/ bullseye-updates main deb-src http://deb.debian.org/debian/ bullseye-updates main # This system was installed using small removable media # (e.g. netinst, live or single CD). The matching "deb cdrom" # entries were disabled at the end of the installation process. # For information about how to configure apt package sources, # see the sources.list(5) manual. deb http://deb.debian.org/debian bullseye-backports main contrib non-free deb-src http://deb.debian.org/debian bullseye-backports main contrib non-free # deb http://deb.debian.org/debian/ bullseye main contrib non-free
I have first made sure that my install is updated to the point that apt full-upgrade indicates that all packages are up to date. Then, following the directions here I opened /etc/apt/sources.list and changed all instances of "bullseye" to "bookworm". After running sudo apt upgrade --without-new-pkgs -y and then sudo apt full-upgrade it says I don't have enough space. Upon trying the df command, it does appear that my drive is pretty full:
$ df Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on udev 4049248 0 4049248 0% /dev tmpfs 813560 2264 811296 1% /run /dev/sda1 12485512 3773376 8056112 32% / tmpfs 4067788 0 4067788 0% /dev/shm tmpfs 5120 0 5120 0% /run/lock /dev/sda5 4431932 3786120 400056 91% /var /dev/sda8 46804188 102436 44291820 1% /home /dev/sda7 819524 52 760544 1% /tmp archive/Colossus 17431406208 5253157120 12178249088 31% /home//Colossus archive 12178249216 128 12178249088 1% /archive tmpfs 813556 0 813556 0% /run/use1000
As you can see, the drive in question is apparently 91% full. I have no idea what's using so much space. I have only Jellyfin, qbittorrent-nox and mpd/mympd servers running on this VM and 64GB should be more than enough space for this. Again, any help is appreciated.

2024.05.19 23:00 ill-fatedcopper Wifi working but can't log into wifi router.

I have pfsense using 10.0.0.1. When I first set pfsense up 18 months ago, I connected a wifi router to 10.0.0.2 and disabled its DHCP. Everything has been working fine for the last 18 months. Until today.
I saw that my wifi was using WPA2-Mixed which is insecure and I wanted to change it to WPA2-Personal which is secure. But I can't log into the wifi router. I get no response when entering 10.0.0.2 on any browser. Nor does 10.0.0.2 respond to pings from any machine on the lan.
My daily laptop connects to the lan via wifi. I can successfully connect from my laptop to all my linix servers (all connected to the lan via ethernet). Ping 8.8.8.8 -t shows no dropped packets. All my machines can communicate with one another. Except none can ping the wifi router (10.0.0.2).
The router has four ports marked "ethernet" and a yellow port marked "internet". I assume the yellow port is for the wan connection. The system has been working fine for 18 months with the wifi router being connected to pfsense via one of the wifi router's 4 "ethernet" ports. The yellow port remains unused (and when I tested using the yellow port to connect the wifi router to pfsense, all internet connectivity was lost).
I assume I must not have configured pfsense correctly 18 months ago. I see now that under interfaces there is a wireless tab. But I'm not sure if that is for a wireless card in my pfsense machine or if that is something I should be using with a separate wifi router.
Anyone have ideas why the wifi router is working just fine but not responding to ping and not providing a login when 10.0.0.2 is entered into the browser?

2024.05.19 22:56 jwckauman Vulnerable Defender files left behind when switching to CrowdStrike?

For those that have CrowdStrike in place of Defender, how are you handling the vulnerable MpSigStub.exe file on each Windows device (in C:\Windows\System32)? This file supports Defender but because Defender is not enabled, it doesn't get updated, and the current version is vulnerable.
  1. Ignoring it
  2. Deleting it
  3. Updating it
  4. Didn't know it was there
  5. Knew it was there but didnt know it was vulnerable
If #2, how are you deleting it? Script goes to each Windows serveclient and deletes it one at a time? Deleting from base image?
If #3, how are you updating it if Defender is disabled? Does CrowdStrike have a way to handle it?
For more info, see CVE-2019-1161 - Security Update Guide - Microsoft - Microsoft Defender Elevation of Privilege Vulnerability
