2024.05.29 22:01 hn-mc Why is the (first) industrial revolution (1760 - 1840) seen as such a huge change/shift in the world?

I mean, I understand that it was the industrial revolution that ultimately brought about the modern world. So, no wonder it's such a big deal.
But, I feel that the industrial revolution largely had a delayed effect, and that people who lived during the industrial revolution haven't really noticed anything revolutionary. I mean, if you read Jane Austen's novels, or War and Peace, it all paints the picture of the old world, without too many revolutionary changes. People still living as they lived for hundreds of years.
I understand that it was the Industrial Revolution, that made our modern world possible. But I feel that the amount of change that happened in 20th century is kind of underappreciated. I feel the biggest change to ever happen in history happened between around 1880 and 1970. These 90 years changed everything. EVERYTHING.
It started with electrification. Then came bicycles, cars, modern Olympics, airplanes, antibiotics, theory of relativity, communism, extreme population growth, world cups, fascism, Nazism, totalitarianism in general, 2 world wars, nuclear weapons, quantum physics, digital computers, space exploration, the United Nations, pretty much all the international organizations and institutions known today, oral contraceptives, sexual revolution, demographic revolution, decolonization, civil rights movement, movies, radio, television, jazz, rock'n'roll... etc
I feel like the Industrial Revolution (1760-1840) just laid the grounds for the actual revolution that happened from around 1880 till 1970, though arguably it's still continuing...
I feel like we need some other term to describe what happened from 1880 to 1970.

Iraqi T-55, 12th Armored Division “Nu'man ibn al-Mundhir”
T-55 m.1970 "al-Bulandi," 37th Armored Brigade, Iraqi 12th Armored Division "Nu'man ibn al-Mundhir," Battle of 73 Easting, southwestern Iraq, February 1991.
1/35 MiniArt Polish-production T-55 kit with Chinese track skirts from the Takom Type 69, BDSh smoke canister from leftover MiniArt T-55 parts, 3D-printed fuel drum from my pal Chris Brew, resin D-10T ammunition box from Eureka, and scratchbuilt tow cable. All markings are painted.
Build inspired by and dedicated to my friend Mark Godsman, who fought with the UK 7th Armored Brigade, the famous Desert Rats, in Operation Desert Storm. Mark stood on the actual vehicle which inspired this build, and I took a few, conservative, artistic licenses on the model. Thank you, Mark, for all the help and critically vital information and references you've given me on the old Iraqi army.

I've photographed them all but here's a few to get what I'm saying. In the photos 1. 1973 Lancia Stratos 2. Mitsubishi Pajero Evo 3. 1970 Ford Bronco-K/5 Blazer 4. 2021 Lamborghini Sían FKP 37 5. 2018 Toyota Hilux (not sold in America) 6. 2020 ish Bugatti Chiron (in Veyron paint colors) 7. 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse RS 8. 1984 Rally Porsche 911/953 9. 1997 Toyota Celica GT-Four ST205 10. 2020 Dodge Charger GT 11. 2000 Nissan GT-R R34 12. 2012 ish Maserati Quattroporte VI 13. Aston Martin Victor 14. 2022 Bugatti Divo Super Sport 15. 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona 16. 1970 Dodge Challenger (in Panther Pink) 17. 1973 AMC Javelin 18. 2016 Lamborghini Urus 19.2003 Dodge Durango SLT Plus 20. 2018 ish Porsche 911 (whichever version is your favorite that's it)
And 110 MORE? Anyone wanna see?

Another first ride today
This filly did awesome. Just a little 10 minute ride, but she’s moving her shoulders around well, turning, moving out and starting to understand the ‘whoa’ cue from a rider. Nothing phased her, you’d think she was an old broke horse getting on and off. She’s super cowy and athletic, I think she has a promising future as a cowhorse.

Microplastics, heat waves, terrorism, bird flu, and another big iceberg breaking off Antarctica.
Last Week in Collapse: May 19-25, 2024
This is Last Week in Collapse, a weekly newsletter compiling some of the most important, timely, useful, soul-crushing, ironic, stunning, exhausting, or otherwise must-see/can’t-look-away moments in Collapse.
This is the 126th newsletter. You can find the May 12-18 edition here if you missed it last week. You can also receive these posts (with images) every Sunday in your email inbox with Substack.
——————————
Climatologists predict many more heat waves across southern Asia over the coming decades. Hundreds of people were treated for heatstroke in Pakistan after a 49 °C (120 °F) heat wave rolled through. Temperatures are expected to reach 55 °C (131 °F) by the end of May. In Mexico, 80+ monkeys dropped dead of heat stroke, with many others requiring medical attention. It’s gonna be a bad hurricane season.
We are experiencing another negative side effect from microplastics: they are reducing the rate of carbon sinking in the oceans. This is because clumps of carbon, which would ordinarily sink to the seafloor, are also taking in microplastics, which are more buoyant. Increased concentrations of micro/nanoplastics also interfere with phytoplankton’s ability to capture carbon. But some good news: two teenage inventors have created an object that filters out microplastics using ultrasonic sound waves.
Mismanagement of grazing lands worldwide is resulting in their breakdown, and the release of larger quantities of carbon. One researcher said that “almost 35—even 50 percent—of rangelands are already degraded,” a significant amount of land, considering over half the earth’s land is classified as such.
A 4.4 tremor near an Italian supervolcano, followed by dozens of mini-quakes, forced the evacuation of at-risk residents. Scientists continue warning about ocean water undercutting the Doomsday Glacier causing “vigorous melting.” A new calving has split a large iceberg off Antarctica’s Brunt Ice Shelf, weeks after a new crack had appeared.
A study00110-1) looking into endangered species claims researchers have a bias towards land animals, neglecting fungi, plants, and marine animals. They say this narrow focus is leading to “silent extinction” among understudied organism species necessary to maintain stable biodiversity.
Migratory fish stocks have Collapsed by over 80% since 1970, scientists say. Drought has destroyed 70% of lemons in Karnataka state (pop: 64M), India, while strawberry harvests were hit in northern India. Martinique declared its first Drought ever.
Southern Vietnam hit an all-time high temperature at night. And a number of Caribbean records were broken last week as well. Sydney, Australia, continues breaking new climate/weather records. 66 more people died in flooding in Afghanistan. Saudi Arabia is warning of incredible temperatures at this year’s Hajj. And let’s not forget new sea-surface temperatures in the north Atlantic.
About a third of the mighty Amazon rainforest is suffering from Drought, based on a paywalled study in PNAS. “If we are already seeing a tipping point getting closer at this macro forest level, then it must be getting worse at a micro level,” said the study’s lead author. Brazil’s savannah is reportedly experiencing its worst Drought in 700+ years. Meanwhile, Brazil’s southern region is still flooded, 500,000+ people displaced, rice fields obliterated, people fallen sick, and much of the infrastructure beyond repair.
Drought in Adelaide (pop: 1.4M), Australia. A record-breaking heat index in Miami for this time of year. Mexico says 12 people died from heat stroke during a 10-day period in May.
A study published a few days ago lays out the risk to Arctic watersheds from melting permafrost—bringing iron and other dangerous metals downstream, rusting the rivers and endangering these fragile ecosystems.
——————————
Scientists looking into malaria predict a massive increase in the number of people living in malaria-endemic regions by the end of this century. Rivers and floodplains are especially dangerous zones for the mostly tropical disease. The full study, published in Science, indicates a longer transmission season in a much more populous Africa.
A study published last month in Environmental Science & Technology examined how microplastics enter our bodies across 109 different countries. The regions of the world which ingest and inhale microplastics are, by far, east and southeast Asia. Fish is also the top microplastic-containing food—and it’s not even close. However, the data relied upon in this study ended in 2018, so there’s a large gap in recent nano/microplastics development.
“Indonesia tops the global per capita MP dietary intake at 15 g monthly. In Asian, African, and American countries, including China and the United States, airborne and dietary MP uptake increased over 6-fold from 1990 to 2018….57% of plastic particles in foods are mainly from aquatic sources….Removing 99% of aquatic plastic debris by water management for surface water quality control in freshwater watersheds, wetlands, and lakes, as well as ocean cleanups or effective solid waste management, can decrease human MP exposure by 55%....MP removal from a single type of water system cannot hamper their transport among other systems and still leads to exposure and long-term impacts on the entire freshwater environment and food web….
Another study on microplastics claims that most microplastics in the seas have escaped detection altogether, for now. Estimates of microplastics off the coast of Venezuela are believed to be higher than previously thought. A sampling of microplastics off the eastern coast of the United States found a greater number of plastic particles farther south, where they were also smaller. The largest size microplastics in the region were identified off the coast of North Carolina. According to their global survey, “detected MPs less than 53 micrometers at a rate of six orders of magnitude higher than all of the combined reports.” And concentrations of microplastics in men’s balls are also higher than estimated.
A study published last week in Communications Earth & Environment predicts that southern California will experience 3x greater coastal erosion by 2050—driving a 5x cost increase in “coastal living”. The current “shoreline retreat rate” in those beaches is 1.45m per year, a figure expected to jump to 2.12m by 2050 and 3.18m by 2100. Similar beach erosion rates are estimated for many African, Australian, Arabian, and other beachfronts. “The environmental and ecological impacts of the needed artificial beach nourishment have yet to be fully assessed.”
Today about 55% of people worldwide lack clean water at least once a month. By 2100, the figure is expected to reach 66%. A gust of wind toppled a stadium at a political event in Mexico, killing nine people. An explosion in a sugar factory in Tanzania killed eleven.
Australia has reported its first human case of bird flu, in a child who returned from India recently; a second farm has contracted a strain of avian flu in Australia as well. Meanwhile, another American dairy worker tested positive, this one in Michigan. “It is worrisome that the virus is spreading widely in cows because this can lead to changes in the virus that could potentially increase human susceptibility,” one medical expert said. Avian flu/HPAI/bird flu/H5N1 has now infected 48 mammal species, in addition to 24 bird species, and has been found on all 7 continents and held responsible for tens of millions of animal deaths so far.

The International Criminal Court has issued arrest warrants to several Hamas leaders, as well as two top Israeli officials, for war crimes & crimes against humanity in Israel & Palestine. A few European states declared their recognition of Palestine as a State. Hostilities and shortages are impeding UN humanitarian aid and the U.S. alleges that none of the aid unloaded at their new pier has gone to the broader Palestinian population—although well over 500 metric tonnes have been unloaded. Exchanges continue between Israel and Hezbollah. The ICJ—the UN’s top court—ordered a stop to Israel’s Rafah offensive, though its rulings require the Security Council’s approval for any binding effect.
Iran’s ultraconservative President died in a helicopter crash last Sunday. The UN claims 140,000+ Somalians have been displaced in the last 4 months from flooding & conflict. Italy’s conservatives are pushing for military conscription, as are the British conservatives.
Sri Lanka and Bangladesh sent security forces implicated in murder & torture to work as UN peacekeepers… 12 people were confirmed dead, and dozens others reported killed, after a raid in Nigeria’s north. A number of insurgents and soldiers were killed at a battle in Niger. Colombia’s insurgents launched two attacks on Monday, killing two in total and injuring a handful of others.
Dozens of people were arrested, and several killed, in an attempted coup in Kinshasa (pop: 17M), the capital of the DRC—according to reports, anyway. The attackers launched simultaneous attacks at the residence of the President and the Parliamentary Speaker-to-be, though both were unsuccessful. Initial reports claimed that the coup was plotted by a political rival living in the U.S.
A 37-page doomy governmental report on future threats to Canada paints a picture of a nation vulnerable to an overload of 35 specific risks. The most likely two are a Collapse of truth and the looming loss of biodiversity.
“More powerful generative AI tools, declining trust in traditional knowledge sources, and algorithms designed for emotional engagement rather than factual reporting could increase distrust and social fragmentation….Ecosystem collapse and the loss of biodiversity could have cascading impacts on all living things, putting basic human needs such as clean air, water, and food in jeopardy….Emergency responses may be unable to keep pace….Extreme weather events could also result in regular shocks to trade, volatile price of goods, and increased travel restrictions. Meanwhile, an already fragile healthcare system may crumble under surging demand….billionaires could gain warfare capabilities and control over natural resources and strategic assets. Some might co-opt national foreign policy or take unilateral diplomatic or military action….”
Social cohesion may erode as a flood of undetectable AI-generated content manipulates and divides populations, fueling values-based clashes….As an energy and water-intensive technology, AI could also put pressure on supplies of vital resources….population growth, climate change, extreme weather events, and conflict outbreaks may further limit resource availability….as the extremely wealthy continue to accumulate a larger share of the wealth, resentment may deepen until calls for greater wealth redistribution reach a critical point…..antimicrobial resistance (AMR), biological threats, and augmented humans could further push the {healthcare} system beyond the brink….Boys and men face unprecedented levels of educational dropout, unemployment, and loneliness….Diminishing trust, the assertion of values, acts of interference, the battle for technological superiority, and the fight over natural resources and supply chains {could} propel great powers into a world war…” -selections from the report.
A large majority of Americans (Democrats & Republicans alike) are worried about political violence following the upcoming November 5 election; yet about half believe there will be violence. A less-than-oblique reference by Donald Trump that President Biden was ready to employ “deadly force” during the 2022 documents raid on Mar-a-Lago hasn’t lowered the political temperature either. And North Korea is supposedly planning some kind of military action to disrupt the US election season.
The German climate activist/protest group Letzte Generation (Last Generation) has been determined to be a criminal organization by authorities after repeated disruptions to oil refineries and art galleries. It is reportedly the first time a non-violent protest group in Germany has been labeled as such.
Chinese military drills escalated last week over the inauguration of a new Taiwanese President. Towns in Texas are reaching a breaking point in their worsening Water War with Mexico. Difficulties remain between old water negotiations between India & Bangladesh. Haiti’s healthcare system continues collapsing. 11 migrants, likely expelled from Algeria into Niger, died of thirst or heat stroke.
Over 3,000 Ukrainian convicts have applied to join the military in exchange for reduced sentences. President Zelenskyy’s first five-year term has elapsed, though new elections will probably not be held until after the conclusion of the War. A missile attack in Kharkiv slew seven and injured many others. A few days later another missile struck a hardware store in Kharkiv, killing twelve and dozens more. Some 14,000 have fled from around Kharkiv since Russia’s recent offensive began there.
Russia is increasing reliance on “glide bombs,”, which are old Soviet bombs outfitted with new unfolding wings & navigation controls. The large number of these bombs means it is too expensive to intercept them once dropped. Russia also redrew its maritime waters in the Baltic Sea last week (effective next January, they say), part of a hybrid “shadow war” to disable the West. Nuclear drills near Ukraine’s border aren’t exactly reassuring, either.
Young Burmese fighters are self-activating against the junta’s military forces. The desperate former bystanders are hardening for battle; though their matériel is in short supply, they continue to make small victories. In Sudan, tens of thousands more flee El-Fasher, where ethnic cleansing and terrorism has killed at least 85 people.

Select comments/threads from the subreddit last week suggest:
-After severe storms & tornadoes took out electricity for some 360,000 Texans, one redditor in preppers made a comprehensive situation report for how people were getting by in the aftermath of an urban infrastructure Collapse. It’s worth a read if you think it could happen where you live.
-The education system in America has fallen apart, based on this weekly observation from New Jersey. Are schools are merely a thin cover for the depression, rot, and brokenness of society? Also, this observer claims that the state of addiction to drugs & alcohol is at crisis levels.

2024.05.26 03:47 Chiefsfan28 Hello My Fellow Ranger Dangers

Let me start from the beginning of my Ranger journey. Back in 2016 my grandpa had traded his dream truck that was a once running and nearly complete project. A Frankenstein 1970’s highboy f-150 ranger. It was a two tone one of a kind paint scheme of black and grey I don’t recall how he got it. I’ll definitely have to ask him so can remember the story’s of once before my time. He traded the non running truck for a green 1994 extended cab with a 5 speed manual and 4x4. As I was having trouble with my vehicle at the time he had let me borrow it a from time to time. I fell in love with the small body style it had yet felt like a full size truck when driving it. I wanted one. Time goes on my car transmission blows, life happens, Covid happens. A family member of mine had decided after Covid and a few other life events that they were going to move to London. My grandpa purchased their 1996 red Ranger with a camper shell on it. He found another truck he liked so he was going to sell. I had the chance to get it so I did. Loved that truck. I had it for a year until he decided his newer Ranger he purchased was just kind of going to waste due to long round trips for work. He traded me straight across for this gorgeous 2009 Ranger. I’m slowly retroing her over and adding a few things. The bumper was already added, he threw on the rims. I love this truck. Let me know what you guys think I should use for the parts to do the following or what I have to have. I have no idea I’m trying my best to work on cars. I due have some mechanical background but nothing crazy at all. Trying to do: Leveling kit Small subwoofer Speaker sizes for doors/rockers What year parts transfer over for this Ranger I want to do a color matched bumper like the fx4 model of this year. Will it fit straight across or restricted due to trim? Light pod recommendations?

Painted glass window in North Wales
I’m currently staying at the late architect Clough Williams-Ellis’s Italianate village at Portmeirion, North Wales in one of his last constructed buildings, Belvedere Cottage, and this painted glass window is in its living room.
Portmeirion village was built almost entirely from architectural salvage and interesting artefacts he collected, and he was notorious for repurposing everyday materials into playful architectural details and “pranking” his friends by hiding personal or fun details in his structures.
What I’d like to know is if this is a genuine specific or historical design, or a modern playful fake from the 1950-1970 period, or even a mishmash of both, so I’m turning to you dear experts to tell me what I’m looking at for the next few days.

2024.05.23 16:16 Agitated-Trick Everyone's Listening, All Supertramp songs, ranked - Try Again (#76)

From Supertramp, 1970
Listen to it here
Ah, the first Supertramp epic. Written in a time where Roger and Rick (and Palmer) wrote their songs together and were still figuring things out, sometimes taking bits and pieces from here and there to help make a song a reality. Try Again for example repurposes a little segment of Bach's "Toccata and Fugue in Re Minor" {1}
All this to make one thing clear: even if they were heavily influenced by other Progressive Rock acts like King Crimson, trying to write a (good!) epic is still a very hard task; I think Supertramp succeded in writing a good song when all is said and done, but it isn't as impressive as their later epics nor as something like In The Court Of The Crimson King.
Lyrically it's a love song about losing's life meaning after being rejected. Pheraps a simple theme, but carried out masterfully: this is probably Palmer's lyrical highlight on the album, especially during the verses, as it really does convey a feeling of isolation quite well.
Musically I'm a bit torn: I absolutely think those first 8 minutes or so are perfect, we get some tasty guitar fills between the verses, that very agressive breakdown 'round the 6 minute mark, and some pretty energetic choruses, all the while the woodwind section helps paint a mood. Perfect. But 'round the 8 minute mark the song just stops, before picking back up again (wouldn't be the first "fake ending" on a Supertramp track, see Lover Boy), however that section before the last chorus explodes at you has always been kind of a disappointment for me: I would've made that little "build-up" that appears at the 10:30 minute mark show its face a bit sooner. Still, I adore how relentless the drums get during the last chorus, seriously listen to that section again: Millar is going ham.
Somewhat uneven at times, Try Again does serve as the album's climax, and as naive as it may feel at times, it's part of its charm.

2024.05.22 00:41 GornsNotTinny Unsolicited Duck Pick

Unsolicited Duck Pick
This watercolor was purchased in MidCoast Maine at a Goodwill. Based on the condition of the tape and cardboard I would estimate that it's post WWII, probably 60's or 70's. The mat is not great but has not significantly stained the piece. The paper is 15 x 19.75 inches, and the area revealed is 13.5 x 19.125 inches. The piece was originally priced at $50, and if 1970 dollars would equal about $400 today, so it seems unlikely that the artist was an unknown hack.
The painting shows light sketching underneath the watercolors, and the economy with which the ducks are depicted makes me think that they were a familiar subject. I get kind of an "illustrator art" vibe from the piece, like maybe they worked for a sporting magazine, but I'm probably wrong.
I perhaps can read the first name and, there may or may not be a middle initial as well. I don't want to taint perceptions with my own bias before people have a look for themselves.
Any help, especially on the signature, would be superb. I like this piece and I'd love to find out who did it so I check out the rest of their stuff.

2024.05.21 20:02 Bluenix2 A Place That No One Built

When I was 35 years old, my daughter asked me to come outside and there it was. The walls were painted black and the windows had bars on them. The mayor told us it was an example of superior communist construction methods. But it was something else.
I never saw the nurses who worked there before that day, and as we got older they stayed the same age. The people who got put in there were bad, we kept being told. They took my daughter in 1970. She was 16 years old, and more than a handful. But she never hurt anyone.
I never saw her again after the nurses came to take her away. The screaming coming out of there kept me awake for years...

2024.05.21 15:22 winterblahs42 Can this furnace be relocated?

Can this furnace be relocated?
Hello,
I have a situation with a old farm house furnace. Specifically, the chimney/flue setup.
The house was built around 1913 and was originally heated with a wood/coal stove in the kitchen. There is a single wall brick chimney that starts in the cellar and passes through the kitchen and then a upstairs bedroom.
About 1970, a hot water baseboard heating system was installed. A metal liner was run through the old brick chimney/flue and the furnace installed in the cellar. See the diagram on the left.
The furnace was replaced about 20yrs ago and had some repairs/upgrades recently. Its working OK. The issue is I think this >50yr old liner had rotted out someplace and starting about 10-15yrs ago has been damaging the brick and mortar. I retucked the section on the top (on the roof) in 2014. The paint/plaster in the upstairs room has been flaking all this time as well. I noticed this winter that the mortar is failing up there again and also noticed damage to the drywall in the kitchen so the moisture leakage is getting worse.
I would like to eventually get rid of this chimney as its going to need a lot of work and nobody does that sort of work in that area (tried to find, so why I did some repairs myself).
So, the question is. Can I install some new B vent along the outer wall on the lower room and have the furnace relocated over there? Furnace has a blower for draft so it does not seem like that super tall flue is needed?

2024.05.21 09:59 chops_zx INFESTATION HELP! 10k sq/ft frat house. 1970's. neglected by owner for last 20 years - Need help.

My fraternity is living with am infestation but we don't have the money to properly handle it.
A little background.
My fraternity moved into a large chapter facility that was previously occupied by a sober living home for men. This house was built in the 1970's, 3 stories tall, has 22 sleeping quarters, sits on over an acre of land, and has had 50 recovering addicts living there for the better part of 2 decades.
We moved in last September, and the house is in rough shape to say the least. It is obvious very little has been done in terms of repairs, maintenance, or just general upkeeping in the last 20 years. We discovered black mold upon move in, and within a week had a seen our first field mouse. The concerning part was that we would see them in broad day light (sometimes as early as 11am) scurrying through the kitchen while multiple people were in there talking and moving around. This level of brazenness raised some alarms for me immediately.
Basically, nothing was done for many months besides half-assing some shitty mouse traps around the house. The frat brother in charge of the house continued to downplay the situation, and our alum housing corporation is low on money due to lengthy legal battles over the deed (long story).
I'm saying all this to set the stage that I believe there are thousands of mice living in our house walls.
It has gotten to the point that brothers cannot sleep because when the lights are out the mice will be active in their room. Our pantry has unlimited food, and we often find rice scattered across the floor with concerning amounts of feces. There is SO much access to food (its frat house - and a shitty house so no one respects it). There was literally a point where a brother left 162 kraft singles outside in our grill area and no one threw it away for a couple weeks. Brothers will often have to chase the mice away from their food in the pantry, they are brazen and always active. We even had a brother be able to shoot one and kill it with an airsoft gun as it was just sitting atop his dresser. On top of that after a brief scan of the house you would understand that this place is built like a mouse paradise. There is so much space between the walls and everything is connected. Exposed piping networks with holes to lead them into other parts of the house. Lots of open are between walls. I believe their system could be disturbingly vast.
We have already found one nest because it was in a closet in our laundry room, which is connected to the pantry, and it also a frequented spot by our residents, so who knows whats in the walls.
Long story short, winter has come and passed since we moved in and things continue to get worse, due to the abundance of food and warmth. I believe this house has a serious infestation, and I do not think we will get real help that we need. Once an exterminator starts putting holes in the wall, I think we will find a concerning amount of black mold (we have already found spots of it, and some rooms aren't occupied because of how bad they are). This I would imagine will end up costing tens of thousands of dollars to solve, as I think the issue has became so bad that the whole or most of the house will need to be stripped to the studs. This is money our chapter doesn't have and our housing corp isn't willing to pay. Not to mention we have 20 brothers with signed leases for this August.
We have used exterminator traps and they kill them faster then we can replace the traps, but I think its too little too late. There was a mouse problem when we moved in and the enviroment we created for them is Eden.
Sorry for so much yapping, but I felt its a somewhat unique situation given the size of the home and how bad this infestation could really be. We are concerned for our health, and are questioning if parents will actually let their kids live here when they come to move in in August.
I am asking for advice and input. Since we probably cannot go the exterminator route due to the fact the house will probably be condemned when whats hiding in those walls comes to light, we are in a situation where we basically need a bucket to fix a sinking boat. What are some traps that can kill a lot of mice? How do we go about battling an infestation of this size? Is mold-x paint effective at protecting us against what is surely festering within the walls? Is it too far gone?
We are just college kids who are in over their heads and need some advice.
Thanks.
