2024.06.01 16:31 anu2208 Need suggestions on sewing machine for a total beginner.

Hii everyone! I am completely new to sewing and excited to start this journey. I wanted to start making my own clothes and therefore wanted to ask what sewing machine I should get as a beginner. I am based in North America ( Canada ) and my budget is within 200- 250 CAD. I read the sticky thread and it was against buying the singer heavy duty model. The alternate suggestions here are really out of my budget. I am really confused now :( . Your help is greatly appreciated :)

2024.06.01 15:50 rheannahh Therapist falsified information in clinical documentation after destroying the last of my sanity (long)

I had an abusive therapist in 2021 whom I recently, and so kindly, made a review page for on RateMDs (Canada); turns out a lot of people feel the exact same way about her, and one person claimed they are reporting her to the ethics board due to her verbal attacks.
My next therapist in 2022 was abusive, even worst than the last. It was so bad I ended up reporting to the ethics board, and the therapist is now doing coaching for the time being. If I had recorded the sessions it would have been game over for that therapist. It killed me for a long time that I didn't record the sessions.
I later sought out a new therapist; my friend warned me that the one I chose had "crazy eyes" and it was red flags all over (based on their PP profile). I should have listened.
This new therapist, Alex, almost killed me, again. He was awful. The second I walked in the room, I warily mentioned my past experience with the abusive therapist. In response, Alex started accusing me of having "destructive" behaviours - despite that I didn't tell him anything about my behaviours yet. I hadn't told him anything at all, just that I was anxious due to a past experience. I think he has issues with younger women.
I saw Alex from August 2023 - April 2024. In this time, he was immediately convinced of his own assumptions - never asked me to explain my experiences or thoughts or anything like that - confronted me constantly for things he pulled out of thin air (he would twist anything I said and then confront me for some alleged bad behaviour or cognitive distortion), and was entirely unwilling to try a different approach despite my (at first) gentle attempts to communicate that his approach wasn't working and was making me very unwell. I can gladly provide examples but it'd end up being a long ass post if I do that, so bear with me. He couldn't handle me even trying to talk about my past therapy abuse, because it was assumed to be my fault. Any dissent was "resistance" or rigidity. He refused to do trauma work despite that being the foundational problem.
He refused to let me "free associate" (psychodynamic therapy) because he was convinced it would cause me some wild regression (as if his current approach wasn't fucking me up). That is, he refused to let me speak my mind.
There was nothing for me to work with in the therapy. It wasn't grounded in reality; it was just all about how awful I am, yet not even in a way that was tangible - he could never explain himself. I was already hanging on a thread from my past abusive therapists, and I pretty quickly developed a substance use disorder (prescription) to try to cope. Began to vape nicotine constantly to try to stabilize myself. I began to isolate myself. By December 2023 I stopped going out at all - again. You know, almost died from the therapist in 2022, my life was almost ruined, and couldn't go out at all, and there I was basically back in the same place.
I never missed a single session. I even opted to increase to twice a week session in an attempt to resolve whatever was going amiss. I continuously tried to establish a working relationship with him. My self-confidence and sense of reality and self were devastated.
Anyway, March 2024 comes around and it comes out Alex diagnosed me with BPD and that was why he was so confrontational (and frankly pulling horrible things out of thin air). Now, I'm pretty darn sure I have either schizotypal or a psychotic disorder. I was under the impression he was treating me for this, as he himself said he dx'd me with schizotypal. But I was also very confused because being confrontational with the kinds of populations I fit into is exactly not what you're supposed to do and has been proven to fuck them up. It's one of the reasons I stayed so long; I just dissociated into oblivion. Not to mention the CPTSD.
I end up sending Alex an email detailing my experiences, which was hard to do. He never asked me about my experiences before (it was all about his assumptions of me), and I thought I needed to try to put an end to this, to again try to establish a working relationship.
The next session, Alex immediately begins to apologize, tells me how he misdiagnosed me, that he's been treating me for a Cluster B disorder when he should have been treating me for a Cluster A, that the "treatment" not working wasn't my fault. He also was convinced that this is what went wrong in my past therapies; that they misdiagnosed me with BPD when the issue was schizotypal, and that it just so happens that applying the confrontational treatment for BPD to schizotypal can basically end the schizotype. (TBH he was way too generous to these past therapists; all him saying that proved to me was that he never believed me in the first place.) He told me he "failed me" and that I "humbled him." He was almost crying he seemed so sorry.
I was already looking for a new therapist, but I was grateful that at least it seemed like things were set straight with Alex. I mean, I now had a substance use disorder and all the more therapy trauma, but I'm pretty happy with little. It was mutually agreed upon that the termination was due to the ways in which the misdiagnosis made the treatment inhospitable for me. It was ended amicably but I noticed he began to act weird around me, very distant, etc. I didn't think much of it, figured maybe he was more emotionally involved when he thought I had BPD for whatever reason.
Found a new therapist at the beginning of April - a formally trained, internationally-based psychoanalyst out of all things (was getting desperate) - and things are going well, finally. No therapy abuse; no issues that even closely resemble the issues I've had with the abusive therapists, etc. Things are finally "easy" with a therapist; the sailing is as smooth as it can be. Also it's entirely free association and it hasn't caused me any issues, contrary to Alex's conviction that letting me speak freely would be devestating to my wellbeing.
Well, two days ago I contacted Alex as I wanted to go to a boutique treatment centre for my prescription substance use issue and they were requesting recent past therapist notes. I thought what a better option than to have Alex send his notes with an explanation that he misdiagnosed me, that he thinks I have been misdiagnosed continuously in past therapies and that's why I've been "treatment resistant," and so on and so forth. Also, given that I developed the issue because of the stress from Alex, this way my story would be corroborated.
Alex was adamant sending his notes was a bad idea, and that the ethics board actually recommends that psychologists write summary letters of the treatment instead. I thought that was nice that Alex was looking out for me. I explained to Alex what I'm looking for in the letter (with the central focus being on the misdiagnosis issue), and that my main goal is to help prove my eligibility for the program (they only take "highly motivated" clients; it's more relaxed in terms of restrictions and what not). I agreed to pay Alex around $400 for his time. I really thought Alex and I were making further amends and that it was so nice he could have my back on this.
Alex gets back to me with the worst letter imaginable. All about how the treatment failed because of ME, how we never made any progress because of ME, that the "lack of consensus on treatment goals and methods" was a massive barrier, and that this all happened despite that the frequency was increased to twice a week (which he failed to mentioned only occurred because I requested it, in an effort to save the therapy!). He made no mention of the fact that I never missed a single therapy session or any fact that would make me sound good, not to mention that he didn't even so much as touch on the fact that the therapy failed because of HIS misdiagnosis. He made it sound like the termination occurred because of how treatment resistant I was.
He also downplayed my trauma (I asked him to speak out this in the letter), saying only how I have a family history of "neglect" and being "scapegoated." My mother would scream at me, like to the point her lungs were going to burst, as a small child until I blacked out, this continued up until I was kicked out at 18, and I have serious CPTSD. I was even diagnosed with PTSD at one point. Like? Alex is supposed to be a specialist in trauma.
So I read the letter and was confused. Got back to him assuring that I'd still pay him, but suggested maybe he remove some parts of it if he can't revise them. Told him I disagree with the reasons for termination and why the treatment didn't work out, and reminded him of the fact he misdiagnosed me. I was honestly very confused and thought maybe he forgot. Told him it's probably not helpful to minimize my trauma.
Cue a minute after I send that email, and it suddenly dawns on me. The pathetic excuse of a therapist never recorded his fuck up in my clinical file. He obviously maintained his delusional narrative within his notes, presumably to cover his ass in case I reported him or sued him for malpractice (unlikely anyway), given that his misshapen and misapplied "treatment" caused me a ton of harm due to his incompetence.
I was seeing red and sent him another email informing him that I actually recorded our final sessions in light of what happened with my previous therapist (and Alex knew about my regret of not recording those sessions, and I'd often leave my phone out during our sessions). It's one-party consent in Canada, and Alex at the very beginning told me he was fine if I recorded the sessions anyway. So yeah, I emailed Alex whilst appalled telling him all about how I recorded him stating he misdiagnosed me, was treating me for the wrong disorder, that therapy not working wasn't my fault, and so on.
Told him he can either write me a letter based on facts - facts I can corroborate given my session recordings - or I'm not paying him for shit. Told him to not even bother replying if he isn't willing to write me a letter grounded in reality. Shockingly, he never got back to me.
And now he'll never know if I was bluffing and he gets to spend the next few months in terror that I'm going to use session recordings to report him for knowingly putting false information in clinical documentation.
What the hell. He could have at least TRIED to make me sound decent in the letter given that he knew what he was saying was bullshit. I guess dissonance is a real bitch. I also don't for a second buy that if I had BPD, his shit-tier "treatment" would have magically worked. It was gaslighting and abusive. You can't just make horrible assumptions about people or create a false reality, shove that in the person's face, then gaslight them all the more when the person is fucking confused and, eventually, distraught.
What a gaslighting loser. I should legitimately report him. Leaving him a bad review as we speak.
(I have had many legitimate delusions myself and don't find the term "delusional" as a pejorative to be offensive. LMK if I should edit it out though.)

2024.06.01 15:21 nitelifedj Campground Install - Adding Unifi Cameras

I always get great answers here. Thank you all.
I run Wifi at Campground. 30 Unifi Devices running on a Dream Machine Pro and a combination of POE and Non POE Unifi Switches. 25 of the 30 Access Points are Outdoor and rest are indoor installs.
Since its the weekend when I look at the Dream Machine Pro it currently has 830 Client connections and sitting at 50% CPU and we are using 80mbit of our 1000mbit downstream.
Our cheapy Swann 8 x 4k Camera system in the office is dying. I need to replace it and I am trying to justify the value of switching to unifi so its all in one. We are in Canada. I am thinking the G5 Bullet would be value/performance choices as they are better cameras that the supposedly 4k ones we have now. I was looking at 4 x g5 Bullet (Outdoor Cameras) and 4 x g5 Dome for Office/Store Install (Indoor). I am looking at adding a 4-8tb WD Purple or Seagate Skyhawk drive for Recording. Ideally we want at least 7 days (Motion recording)
So to get to my questions. Will adding 8 g5 Cameras put too much additional strain on the Dream Machine and hurt our Wifi? Would 4tb be enough for 8 x 2k cameras to get 1 week recording (Motion activated)? If I added something like the Cloudkey+ to handle Unifi Protect would that be better?
In Canada the setup would cost Roughly $1600 for 8 Cameras and $140-$220 for Hard drive so about $2200 after tax or we can buy a new Swann System from Costco for around $1000 so I am trying to justify the Unifi System to the Owner. I do not want to convince him to get it to only find out after install that oh crap now our Wifi system sucks.

2024.06.01 15:19 fishhawk119 Shot 10mm for the first time. I'm sold!

Shot 10mm for the first time. I'm sold!
I thought it would feel like I'm shooting a high caliber revolver but no, it felt just like a .45. I shot it side by side with my sig p220 legion in .45 and it felt the same. 1911s are just amazing shooters. This week I shot a 1911 in .45, 9mm, and 10mm all for the first time. 1911s are my new love.
The gun I shot was a colt delta elite. First time shooting a colt! Only problem was that it started to jam, f2f, failure to close after fresh mag and double feed. The gun was dry and super dirty. Was this the the main reason why it had all these problems? It was a rental obviously.
What 10mm 1911s you guys recommend? I don't like the SA Ronin but I do love the Ruger SR1911 and the Colt Delta Elite. Both are in my price range. DW Kodiak and Bruin are nice but I prefer the 5 inch barrel. Specialist is another gorgeous one.
Because the rental kept having problems I didn't finish the box. So I have 20 rounds left of 10mm. I always thought about buying a FN 510 tactical as my first 10mm but that 1911 was too great. RSO even complimented my shooting. He thought it was my gun. I just bought a SA Mil-Spec in .45 but can't take it home for a while(blue state laws) so now I need that 1911 in 10mm.

2024.06.01 15:08 Secret-Property5498 Breaking away as an adult child

Deep down I knew I don’t need permission or confirmation that my mother is generally malignant and the ultimate source of suffering in my life right now. But I can’t accept why my own mother would do that to me.
So I am turning to you for advice, support, and insights for ways to separate yourself emotionally and individuate from your parents later in life when you should've done so much much earlier. The adult part of me knows what I should do but there is also a part of me that is frightened. let me give you a snapshot of my life trajectory. The story is long but I want to give you as much contexts as possible. If you want a short summary of the dilemma, go to the last paragraph, otherwise, here is my life story (it is long because I want to give as much context as possible, and also show clues for the many different ways a narcissistic parent can disrupt your life): I grew up in a well-to-do family in an East Asian country, my parents gave birth to me when they were in their early 20s and just as their business started taking off in the 'boom years'. Both of them came from very broken family, my mother suffered poverty, abuse, and neglect from her parents (she did not speak to her dad until he died, and almost never acknowledges her mother). My father was the least favourite child in his family of three, he dropped out of high school, ended up on the street (and, as I learnt a few years ago, later in prison for getting into fights). My mother met my dad (21) when she was 19 and ran away from her hometown, they grew a very successful business together in the early to mid 20s and became incredibly wealthy for a society that is generally still very poor. I had a lot of luxuries in my early childhood, we had a car, I had good clothing, but my parents were never around. I started boarding at the age of 3, and generally spent most of my time outside of kindergarten and school with my paternal grandparents, and occasionally, my mum's mother. My parents fought a lot, and I remember my mother threatening to take me away from my dad and drove away from home with me in a car with nowhere specific to go. Once things got really bad and my mother told me that she is divorcing my father, and we even went into another flat (for a grand total of 1 day) before returning home. She emotionally smothered me, told me that she would die for me and nobody would love me as much as her. As the expression in our language puts it ' You are a piece of flesh fallen from my body'. She hit me a lot, often over small things , sometimes in public, I remember being thrown outside of our apartment and crying in the corridor. But I thought she was better than my father, whom, in my mother's words, would swiftly remarry in an event of her death/departure, and I would then be abused by another evil mother in law and her offsprings. My dad was completely absent from my childhood save for the first year (I remember playing video game, going to the park with him at the age of 3).
Although my family was wealthy, my mother took me out of the posh international school I was in after 6 months and sent me to a state school that is (in)famous for being extremely strict and militant. I was a 'good, smart kid' in primary school, but when I got to the state school at the age around 12 or 13, I became very depressed and that life has no purpose. I was falling at almost all school subjects (except History), and I started drinking (my dad drank a lot, and alcoholism is culturally tolerated if not perpetuated). At this point something happened that saved me in retrospect. My family decided to emigrate to an anglophone New World country and I went to yet another boarding school there. Yes, I experienced racism and generally felt horrible about the way I looked (not good looking in the Western sense or sporty), but I got to be separated from my family and grew as an individual. My grades got better, and by year 12, 13 I was among the best performing students. Between 13-18, I rarely see my father (perhaps once or twice a year), my mother would visit periodically, they bought a house next to the school, so I started to live in the house (mostly alone, sometimes with my mother and whatever hapless young women she manipulated into being her assistant). My parents couldn't speak English, and I dealt with most family matters, as with many first gen immigrant kid. By the time that I was supposed to go to university, I wanted to do law & politics at the public university in my adopted hometown but then my father intervened stating that I would never get a good job at a respectful company with a degree from the backwater 2nd rate university. He insisted that I should go to the U.K. or the U.S. He also stopped me from taking a gap year to travel, so I mostly stayed at home, played game, whilst being a driver and an assistant to them for a year. I regret not leaving home and getting a job. I applied to many universities in the U.K, Canada, and Australia, got into most of them, and ended up choosing the worst ranked university because I wanted to be in London. I couldn't do a conjoint degree so I chose to study politics (as that's what I was interested in). University life was eye opening, I got to see Europe, realised that the world was much bigger than the conformist, conservative East Asian country and the backwater suburbs with strip-malls and junk food stores I grew up in. But the degree did not prepare me for life, and all those years of bad parenting, emotionally under-development made me miserable in my first taste of adult relationships. I chose emotionally distant if not abusive friends, was a horrible person who hurt people who actually liked me and loved me. I did no internship or travel because I was expected to go home during school holiday, helping them move house, looking after guests, and being the 'little husband' when my mother was giving brith to my youngest sibling. I really wanted to stay in London, I looked for jobs, very random jobs because I had no life skills and never ever made my own money. So in the end, I left, and had to return to East Asia. By this time, my father had moved to another, more cosmopolitan East Asian city as his lifestyle became more and more extravagant. I lived with him and started interning at a fancy company in the culture industry. I worked there for almost a year hoping they would offer me a job, they did not. I got another job fairly soon in brand consulting, and finally at the age of 23 started making money. I had a relationship with an older woman, she was kind and tolerant, and I was an arse. I also realised that I cannot combine intimacy and sex at this point. I tried to start my own freelancing consultancy, acquired the ability to impress other people (faking it). Things seem to be working, I almost made enough money to support my life, but I was fundamentally lost and unhappy. I had the first depressive episode in my life. I wanted to go back to London, to get a Masters degree. So I applied and got into my dream school, my father agreed to pay for my education, so off I went to university again. That was probably the happiest year of my life, it turned out I loved elements of academia, research, being with other smart nerdy people. I met an intelligent, caring, and beautiful woman, and we moved in together soon after. I discovered more fulfilling, freer ways to live, I found proofs that a successful life was not just about working for an investment bank, or being rich. I wanted to be an academic, so I applied for a PhD at the school, and I got in after two attempts. Academia isn't all rosy, the work condition is pretty awful, the publish or perish mentality literally sucks every last bit of joy and fulfilment out of research, I loved teaching, but quickly learnt that teaching matters little at a 'research university'. I got fat, my relationship got really bad, sex became non-existent, arguments soon turned physical, and I thought that I was a real piece of shit and better off dead. The only thing that kept me going at the time? Bitterness and shame. I felt indebted to everyone, to my partner because I was an abusive arsehole, and to my family because I was stupid enough to do a PhD and wasting their money (and my life away). The pandemic hits, and sure enough, things got even worse, I felt like I couldn't carry on anymore and that I needed to radically un-f my life. My solution to this: was to finally become the person my family wanted me to be, filial, loyal, and rich. I was ready to threw my life in London away, everything, my home, my girlfriend, my PhD and move back to East Asia to become rich, and 'stop being a loser'. I came home to 'fix my family' and showered everyone with love and attention in ways I never did. I networked and explored ways to get into finance, and I got an at a VC firm. Soon enough, the whole thing completed backfired and my life started to unravel faster than I could count to three. I hated the internship, it fundamentally clashed with who I was and my value, I cried everyday in the toilet at work. I also broke up with my girlfriend for a person who was the poplar opposite of her that I had no attachment to (and sex was great because there was zero emotional intimacy). Within 3 months, I had very little savings left, was living in a short term rental apartment, and spent most of my time in bed and eating very unhealthily. Luckily, I had a therapist, a good friend in Shanghai, and my girlfriend was willing to give me a second chance. It was also around this time I realised how my family's (what do you even call it) emotional neglect might have contributed to my unhappiness and depression. I was diagnosed with Bipolar disorder and medicated, the medicine helped for me to move out of paralysis. But I wanted to tell my family that I am very unwell and get them to love me back, so I confronted them over things they have done to me as a kid and showed them the diagnosis. My mother did not handle this well. She called me horrible names, made fun of me, and accused me for being a horrible son. This whole ordeal made me realise that I needed to break away from them, and what I had thrown away in London was actually the most valuable things I have in life, a career, a family, my own identity. After confronting my mother over her abusive behaviour and emotional smothering, she vowed to never see me again. However, after 6-8 months, she sent me a large chunk of money for my birthday. So I, stupidly, let her back into my life again, a part of the reason was the financial help that I needed (to feel safe mostly), but I also really wanted to see proofs that my parents actually did love and accept me after all. At first, things got better, she came for Christmas, visited a few times, celebrated her birthday, and looked really happy. Both my partner and I spent a lot of time with her, bought her gifts, cooked for her, and hang out with her to make sure she feels loved. But soon, she started complaining that she actually had a horrible time and was mistreated by my partner. To make matter worse, a year and half after I left home for the last time thinking that I would never go back, my parents promise to buy me a flat (and started to pressure me to get married). I accepted the flat, thinking that it would offer stability and freedom (pushing away the past experience of their emotional neglect and abusiveness). Sure enough, the flat became yet another way for my mother to mess with my life. It had daunted on her that I am about to become my own person and live in the flat and start a family of my own, so she lashed out and said if my girlfriend lives there she would sue me and reclaim the flat. She then went behind my back and started disputing the flat's ownership. We have already spent a lot of time and energy planning the move and all of this is happening just 2/3 weeks from the move-in. I have a demand job that requires a lot of cognitive focus, and I feel like I am spending a decent chunk of my day trying to resolve the situation in addition to processing the emotional toll of having my own mother out to destroy my life. I know I have a job, a family, and my own life, and I have a good legal case, but I also feel so unsafe, violated, and confused. I can almost feel the voice in my head telling me that this is all my doing, and that I am too weak. It is like I know what I need to do cognitively but emotionally I am paralysed. Do you think what I mean? What would you do?

I'd like to buy this CPAP cause I heard its great. I hear they sell the Prisma 20A in Canada. Any suggestions on where I could buy one? I have an American doctor prescription for a CPAP. Is the machine far superior than other CPAPs? I would also be interested in Prisma Smart Max and Prisma Soft Max too.

Hi everyone, I bought the Buture JR400 Vacuum Cleaner from Amazon Canada a couple months ago, and since then, all of their Amazon links have disappeared, it's like Buture is not available in Canada anymore.
I would like to buy replacement air filters, is there by any chance someone who had the same problem and now knows where to buy them?
Thanks a lot

2024.06.01 13:40 AdamFarleySpade Jealous security guards at training

Got my new S2C and went to my 2nd handgun training lesson. I used to shoot rifles and would practice on my dad's .38 revolver a lot when I was younger, but semi-autos are new for me.
There were 3 GIANT security guards in their gear. During the sit-down part when I demonstated my standing position one of them laughed at me and said "get your trigger finger up higher on that slide, boy", stuff like that. It was pretty intimidating as they seemed like pros and I'm just a regular looking guy.
Well, we get out to the range. They all jad g17s, the ladies to my left had g19s.
Whatever we did, I was pretty much perfectly shooting. Way, way more accurate than the security guards. They started saying "it's that CZ" and asking how much I paid for it (implying heavily that I paid for an advantage).
One said let's trade guns once and I said okay, but the trainer said I "shouldn't give away my advantage".
So..it really seemed that everyone thought it was all my gun, but could it not be that I just have more experience shooting in general? It was a bit annoying. Why even make/buy glocks if they suck so bad?

I've been using the Hogue Le Grip Govt Rubber OD Green for a few weeks now, and I must say, it's been a game-changer for my daily carry. The laser sight is incredibly easy to adjust on target, and there are several options for illuminating the target, making it perfect for different lighting situations. One of the standout features is the proportioned finger grooves, which hug the contours of my gun and provide a secure hand grip. This grip also has a non-slip surface, which is essential for someone like me who carries a lot.
The grips are ambidextrous, which means I can use them as a left-handed or right-handed shooter, making them versatile for when I'm training with different people. The installation process was straightforward, and no lubrication was required. Overall, I'm really happy with my purchase, and I would definitely recommend the Hogue Le Grip Govt Rubber OD Green to anyone looking for a reliable, durable, and comfortable grip with a laser sight.

🔗Stylish G10 Grip for 1911 Full-Size Guns

Using Wilson Combat Grips, I've experienced a perfect blend of style and durability. The black G10 starburst pattern gives the grips a visually stunning look, while their high-pressure thermoset laminate provides an incredible level of strength and resistance to wear. The diagonal pattern not only looks great but also offers a comfortable, secure grip.
However, I also noticed that some grips, like the one that resembled the sun, seemed to have been exposed to the elements, looking worn out even for something new. Other than that, the Wilson Combat Grips have been a fantastic addition to my 1911 pistol, adding both style and functionality. They definitely have my vote of confidence.

🔗Premium Starburst Cocobolo 1911 Grips

As I held the Wilson Combat 351MFS Side Panel Grips in my hands, I couldn't help but notice the natural beauty of the Cocobolo material. The starburst finish added a touch of sophistication, while the pewter inset medallion was a thoughtful detail.
These grips were comfortable and provided a sense of control, especially with the ambidextrous thumb safeties. However, I would have preferred a brighter red color, as depicted in some pictures. Overall, these side panel grips are a great addition to any 1911 and showcase Wilson Combat's commitment to quality.

🔗Premium Cocobolo Wood 1911 Govt. Grip

You know that feeling of getting your hands on a perfectly crafted piece, where every detail is meticulously done? Well, that's exactly what using these Ed Brown Grips feels like. They may look like just another set of handgun grips, but take one in your hand and it's game over.
What really stood out for me was the Cocobolo wood - not just because it boasts a striking appearance, but because it's the densest and strongest of all the rosewoods. It's the perfect choice for high-quality grips like these.
However, there's a tiny downside - they're not cut for an ambi safety. But hey, perfection isn't perfect, right?
These grips have a certain charm about them that makes holding your Taurus revolver feel like a luxury experience. And when you're working with a tool as important as a firearm, feel really matters. So, while they might seem like just another part to some, to me, they're the difference between a good day and a fantastic one.

In my daily life, I've had the pleasure of using this Pearce Finger Groove Add On for my 1911 Government full-size pistol. The first thing that stood out to me was how effortlessly it slipped under the existing grips, making no compromises in the gun's aesthetic. The side portion of these grips is incredibly slim, ensuring that the overall width of my firearm remained unaffected. With the added rubber finger grooves, I experienced enhanced comfort and improved handling, which made a noticeable difference during recoil.
One of the best aspects of this add-on is its compatibility with various types of side panel grips, such as wood, simulated ivory, and pearlite. This feature allowed me to continue using my preferred grip without having to sacrifice comfort for the sake of finger grooves. Installation was a breeze, and I appreciated that no trimming was required. Overall, the Pearce Finger Groove Add On is an excellent investment for any 1911 owner who desires both a functional and visually appealing grip solution.

I've recently taken these 1911 Operator II G10 Grips out for a spin, and let me tell you, they're a game-changer. These grips are ambidextrous and feature an easy-to-use safety cut, so regardless of your preference, they'll suit you perfectly. The Predator Green color really sets them apart from other grips on the market, and their sleek G10 material ensures a reliable grip without adding any bulk.
I particularly appreciate their ultra-thin design, which allows for smooth handling, and the textured surface provides excellent traction. However, I have noticed that they aren't compatible with specific 1911 or Commander models, so make sure your gun model matches. Overall, these grips have made a noticeable difference in my shooting experience, and I highly recommend them for any 1911 enthusiast.

🔗High-Ride 1911 Style Stainless Steel Laser Grip for Enhanced Comfort and Precision

I recently got my hands on the Wilson Combat 298S BeaverTail Grip Safety, and I must say, it's a game-changer for my 1911 Auto. I used it for an entire day at the range, and the high-ride design allowed me to hold the gun more comfortably and with better control. The raised Pisi-Release tab also made disengaging the safety a breeze.
However, I did notice some minor hiccups. For one, the product came with a barrel bushing instead of the grip safety I ordered, which left me quite disappointed. Additionally, I encountered a few issues with fitment and had to do some custom work to make it work with my firearm.
Overall, the Wilson Combat 298S BeaverTail Grip Safety improved my experience with my 1911 Auto significantly, but it did come with a few unexpected challenges.

🔗Factory Kimber Compact Ultra 1911 Grips with Double-Diamond Checkered Pattern

https://preview.redd.it/yw1vua6kex3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2af774744215dd43297d3ad7a2a8f4eac0169b8a
I recently upgraded my compact 1911 Kimber pistol with these sleek Factory Kimber Rubber Grips. The double-diamond checkered pattern adds a touch of class to the otherwise plain grips, and the compact design made it a perfect fit for my handgun.
One of the best features of these grips is how comfortable they are to use. The rubber material is soft yet provides a secure grip, making it easier for me to carry my pistol or shoot with confidence. The pattern on the grips is not only aesthetically pleasing but also provides that extra grip I need when I'm out and about.
However, it's worth mentioning that the rubber grips may be a bit slippery when wet, so it's essential to be cautious in those situations. But overall, I'd highly recommend these compact, stylish, and comfortable grips to anyone looking to upgrade their Kimber 1911 pistol.

I recently had the pleasure of trying out the Handall BeaverTail Grip Sleeve for my Glock 19 Gen 3-4 in slate grey. I must say, the beavertail design provided an unexpected yet pleasing level of grip enhancement. It was particularly useful during those moments when I found myself in a hurry to draw my gun.
One downside, though, was that the slate grey color seemed to dust off a bit too easily, and I often found myself cleaning it more frequently than I'd have liked. Overall, it's a solid choice for those seeking to improve their grip on their Glock 19, but just be aware that it might require a bit more upkeep than some other grip sleeves on the market.

The blued finish gives it a unique and elegant look, while the beavertail cut provides a comfortable grip that's easy to hold onto.
One of the standout features of this safety is the grooved design. It's not only a great aesthetic touch but also provides a practical benefit by giving users a better grip. I recently had the chance to try out the Beaver Tail Grip Sleeve by Hogues, designed for the Glock 42 and 43 models. The Slate Gray color looked sleek and I appreciated how the grip sleeve was ambidextrous, offering a comfortable fit for both hands. The Cobblestone texture, molded from soft but durable elastomer rubber, added to the overall experience and made it easier to handle.
Unfortunately, the grip sleeve felt a bit too tight for my liking, making it a bit challenging to slide on. Additionally, I noticed that the finger grooves were not as distinct as I would have preferred. Despite these small downsides, I still believe the Hogues Beaver Tail Grip Sleeve provides a better grip and added security compared to the standard polymer grip. Overall, a slight improvement could make this grip sleeve an even more impressive accessory for shooters.

I recently had the chance to try out the EGW BeaverTail Grip Safety, and I must say, it's a game-changer for Ruger SR1911 owners. The first thing that stood out to me was the beavertail design, which is wider than the frame, ensuring a seamless blend for a more comfortable grip.
On the negative side, installation can be a bit tricky, as it's not a drop-in part and will require some fitting. Nonetheless, once installed, this grip safety feels solid and secure, providing an added layer of safety without compromising the overall feel of the gun.

With a stainless steel finish, the gun has an incredible shine that catches everyone's eye. The grip safety feels comfortable and well-crafted, providing a firm grip without being too aggressive.
One thing I particularly appreciate is the Beavertail cut, which adds a unique and aesthetically pleasing design to the gun. The safety mechanism is smooth and responsive, making it easy to switch between the safety positions. However, I have to admit that it takes some time getting used to the overall feel of the gun, especially compared to other models I've used in the past.
Despite being a bit bulkier than some other models, I wouldn't say it's too heavy to carry around all day. The stainless steel finish may require some occasional maintenance to prevent rust, but overall, it's a reliable and durable choice for anyone looking for a high-quality 1911 Beavertail Grip Safety. It's a piece of hardware that truly stands out in the crowd.

🔗Daisy Red Ryder BB Gun Fun Shooting Kit

https://preview.redd.it/1gw8my1tcx3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3d4839cc8ac19cd99ab11d732cd622c9a47baff7
I recently tried the Daisy Red Ryder Fun Kit myself and had quite the adventure. Firstly, the set truly comes with everything you need for an exciting shooting experience. However, I must say, it took me a while to get used to it.
One of the key features of this kit is the renowned Red Ryder BB gun. It's smooth and easy to hold, but the accuracy was quite disappointing. I found myself missing targets more often than I would have liked. On the bright side, at least I could appreciate the classic design of the gun.
To enhance the shooting experience, the kit also comes with shooting glasses and a tin of BBs. I must admit, the glasses were convenient and provided some protection while I was busy aiming at targets. The BBs, however, seemed like a cheap alternative and didn't always penetrate the targets.
The fun paper targets provided were a nice touch, but the distance limitations of the gun took away some of the enjoyment. I had to be extremely close to hit the targets, and even then, it wasn't always accurate.
Overall, while the Daisy Red Ryder Fun Kit is a decent option for a beginner's shooting experience, I wouldn't recommend it for someone looking for better accuracy or quality. But if you're looking for an affordable and simple way to introduce a young one to the world of BB guns, it might just do the trick.

🔗Vintage Cowboy BB Gun Set with Lawman Holster & Belt

https://preview.redd.it/j56s4kltcx3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9cbc6eab1b6d09e72daa19cc813e7fd287536ceb
I recently got my hands on the Parris Lawman Toy Pistol and it's been my go-to for all my Wild West role-playing. The die-cast metal construction gives it a nice weight and the vinyl holster and belt feel like the genuine article.
However, as a kid, I found the cap gun a bit tricky to fire, and the ring caps were hard to find. On the plus side, the Lawman Holster Set is a great addition to the whole experience, and it looks and feels just like the real deal. Overall, this toy is a fun way to transport myself back to the dusty trails of the Wild West.

I recently had the pleasure of getting my hands on this book, "The Colt M1911 . 45 Automatic Pistol: M1911, M1911A1, Markings, Variants, Ammunition, Accessories [Book]". Being a gun enthusiast, I was eager to dive into the world of this iconic pistol.
What stood out to me was the detailed information on the M1911's design, manufacturing, and testing. The book takes you on a journey through its combat use in various wars, with more than 370 images that provide a visual breakdown of the weapon. The serial numbers list and the visuals of the weapon's markings were particularly fascinating.
The section on accessories like magazines, ammunition, holsters, and cleaning kits was a nice touch, adding to the overall comprehensive nature of the book. I found the combat-related uniform and equipment items to be of special interest.
However, one drawback I encountered was the inconsistency in the captions of some photos. I was expecting a more complete reference on some of the markings and stampings. Despite this, the book still managed to impress me with its wealth of data and images.
Despite its relatively short length, "The Colt M1911 . 45 Automatic Pistol: M1911, M1911A1, Markings, Variants, Ammunition, Accessories [Book]" is a must-have for anyone interested in the history and development of this legendary firearm. The high-quality images and detailed information make it a valuable addition to any library.

🔗Premium 1911 MW Housing Blank

https://preview.redd.it/1d18gjxucx3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3c4a6b8c8869db0df0a13938b8526c9ef08173c2
The Ed Brown 1911 housing is a fine example of the dedication to precision and quality that makes this brand stand out. As a seasoned gun enthusiast, I've come to appreciate the meticulous attention to detail that goes into crafting these firearms. With this product, I especially noticed the superior components and expert machining that made the gun feel smooth and well-balanced. The mag well housing, in particular, added an element of sophistication to my 1911 replica.
While the Ed Brown 1911 housing is an excellent choice for those seeking top-notch performance, there are a few potential downsides to consider. One is the price point, which may be prohibitive for some users. Additionally, while the housing is designed for durability, it's essential to take proper care of it to ensure its longevity. All in all, the Ed Brown 1911 housing is an exceptional product that delivers on promises of quality and craftsmanship.

🔗Miniature 1911 BB Gun - Light Blue Model with Cycling Round Feature

https://preview.redd.it/71va0sgvcx3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=006e0591299b65852787b77ba60cd5d4ee0b9a00
I was amazed by the GoatGuns Mini Blue 1911 Die Cast Model Gun, also known as 'Bunny. ' The soft light blue paint coupled with the ivory grips made it a refreshing change from the usual gun models. The attention to detail in this toy is remarkable, especially the movable parts that let you experience the real-life action.
The 1:2.5 scale made it a perfect desk or makeup shelf accessory. It even cycled the dummy rounds, which added a realistic touch. The magazine release with loadable dummy rounds and working slide actions made it even more enjoyable.
However, one downside I noticed was the difficulty in finding replacement dummy rounds. Also, the toy could be more durable than it seemed. Regardless, I'd still recommend it, especially for women who want to enjoy a unique toy or for those who value authenticity in collectibles.

🔗Western Style Pellet Pistol for Quick and Accurate Target Shooting

https://preview.redd.it/ex1uz8qvcx3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f8664347b02ea9dd9a7e8d89f45421a1a922fbd2
In my daily life, I've encountered the Parris Manufacturing Western Air Single Pistol, and it's been a thrilling experience! The anticipation of a quick draw, with the sound of "1, 2, 3, DRAW! " resonating in the air, is unmatched. The pistol air gun, complete with 5 darts and a holder, feels solid and sturdy in my hands.
What stood out to me was the accuracy of the shots. The air pistol is quick and accurate, a perfect blend for a fun and engaging target practice. However, I noticed that the darts struggled to stick to a target beyond 5 feet, requiring a bit of adjustment in aiming higher.
Despite this minor drawback, the nostalgic charm and excitement that come with using the Parris Manufacturing Western Air Single Pistol make it a standout choice for a fun and engaging pastime. Don't be caught off guard when someone says "Draw! " - be prepared with this quick and accurate air pistol in your holster!

🔗Safe and Realistic Colt 1911 Kids Toy Gun Set

https://preview.redd.it/b55gj53wcx3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d771c9f37b9d8ceecd65773c756d187eb2bb682c
I recently stumbled upon the Teanfa Classic Foam Play Toy Gun Colt 1911, and let me tell you, it's a hit with kids and adults alike! The first thing that struck me was the impressive attention to detail. With its realistic dimensions, it felt just like holding a real Colt 1911. The soft bullets are perfect for a fun outdoor game with kids, and the fact that they're completely harmless makes it a great choice for families with younger children.
While I was initially skeptical about the toy's safety, the realistic design actually makes it a great tool for teaching kids about gun safety. The set also comes with a tactical holster, which adds even more authenticity to the experience. The only downside I found was that the foam bullets can be a bit hard to load, but that's a small price to pay for the overall fun and education this product provides.

🔗M1911 and M1911a1 Pistol Field Manual: Safety, Maintenance, and Operation

https://preview.redd.it/xnxciblwcx3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d0b1076a9ad539a7b86aeeb04aba51d3227cf464
Recently, I found myself with an old M1911 pistol, and I needed a comprehensive guide to understand and maintain it. The Automatic Pistol, Caliber. 45 M1911 and M1911a1: Basic Field Manual quickly became my go-to book. With its rich history and detailed design schematics, I was able to disassemble, assemble, clean, and maintain my pistol like a pro.
The book not only covers the basics of the pistols but also provides valuable information on ammunition and marksmanship techniques. The best part? . The book is a facsimile reprint of an old edition, giving it a unique charm and feel.
While the layout could use a revamp, the content is invaluable to anyone who wants to get the most out of their M1911.

🔗Non-Firing 1911 M1911A1 Pistol Replica Guns - Nickel Finish, Lacquered Wood Grips

https://preview.redd.it/mwgls73xcx3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ec49d2c27db10667dca071b1bce75f8b2c092b45
Imagine stepping into a world of history, but with a twist. The Denix 6316 M1911A1 Pistol Replica lets you experience the beauty and craftsmanship of a genuine firearm, without the dangers or restrictions. With its 9.5-inch overall length, this replica is an impressive reproduction of a legendary piece.
The metal construction gives it a sturdy and reliable feel, while the nickel finish adds a touch of elegance. The simulated mechanism of loading and firing adds to the authenticity and excitement of the experience. However, be prepared for a little frustration as some parts might not function as expected, like its magazine and safety features.
Despite this, the Denix 6316 M1911A1 Pistol Replica is a captivating and beautiful accessory that adds a touch of history to your collection.

🔗Historical Replica Over Under Toy Pistol

https://preview.redd.it/r4cj8dkxcx3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4d7d1da70baea722cbe33c54a5ce5fceb10bf80e
I've been using the Parris Toys Over Under Toy Pistol for a while, and it's quite an interesting piece. The replica gun looks pretty cool, with the required colors as per the law, and a solid one-piece wood stock. It's also fascinating to see how the toy has been designed after the original pistols, complete with a die-cast metal body and plastic parts.
However, there were a couple of moments I faced a bit of frustration. For one, holding the pistol isn't the most comfortable, thanks to the small size and lack of a proper handle. It feels more like a toy than a replica, especially considering you need tiny hands to hold it properly.
On the bright side, the safety features are spot-on, making it impossible to alter the gun for any other purpose than what it's designed for - a cap-shooting toy. Overall, while it's not the most comfortable to hold, it's a great choice for collectors, and it certainly gets the job done for all those who appreciate the thrill of shooting caps.

🔗Wild West Cowboy Die-Cast Metal Toy Gun Set with Holster and Belt

As a kid, I remember dreaming of being an outlaw in the Wild West, and the Outlaw Pistol brought that dream to life. Crafted with solid die-cast metal and quality plastic, it feels like a real antique gun, just like those used by the famous outlaws of the era. The 12 shot action ring caps provide a satisfying bang that's thrilling and safe.
The holster and belt set add that authentic touch, making it more than just a toy. While the plastic handle may not be the most durable, it's still functional and adds a unique look to the pistol. I did find the size a bit small for my hand, but it works perfectly for my son, who absolutely loves it. Overall, the Outlaw Pistol is a great choice for anyone looking to relive the glory days of the Wild West.

🔗Little Armory 1/12 M1911A1 & Commander Type Plastic Guns

The guns come with two holsters and six 7-round ammunition magazines, making them perfect for any 1/12th fan. The black-bodied guns have grip panels in two shades of brown, adding a touch of realism to your action figures. These guns are easy to assemble, but still maintain a level of detail that keeps them true to their real-life counterparts.
With these Little Armory guns, you can arm your action figures with the classic stopping power of the M1911A1 and Commander Type pistols.

🔗Police Reproduction Cap Gun with Compliant Orange Plug

https://preview.redd.it/mat2n30zcx3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=29f23040ffa11248701debffc5a61354ea4c22c1
In my hands, the Cap Gun Gonher REV-80 felt like a piece of history. With its detailed 1911 army style design, it had an authentic feel that let me step into the shoes of a bygone era. The die-cast metal construction and grips made it durable and comfortable to hold. The 8-shot ring caps added a sense of excitement with each shot, making it fun to use.
However, it did come with its own set of limitations, as a replica that couldn't be altered to shoot a projectile. The law-required color markings and the permanently attached orange plug reminded me that this was a toy first and foremost. Though it might not have been everyone's cup of tea, those who appreciated collecting and using replica firearms found it to be a delight.

Hello Everyone,
I am a 23, a chemical engineer making good money in Calgary, Canada. I currently drive a Kia Seltos 2023 which I had bought in university. I am coming across a deal on a 2021 330i m sport with Close to 40k kms (25k miles). The monthly expense regarding the vehicle is around a 100 CAD higher. I really want to and feel like buying it since I’ve always loved loved and loved such cars, but for my some reason I’m very nervous. I’m nervous to see how people will perceive me at work.. I’m just a car enthusiast and there are ‘24 accords which have a much higher payment than the BMW but since the brand is mellow and ‘common’ I don’t feel as conscious.
Can someone as an older brother please give me some advice
I’ve been a car enthusiast since birth literally, and I’m known within all my friends to be one. How do I tackle this with my mind?

Selling my PS5 controller with rise4 black metal buttons w/ grip + clicky hair triggers (pre-installed)
In the past I have seen several posts of people interested in buying a pre-modded controller. I unfortunately suffered a hand injury from sports so I can no longer game. So I am looking to sell my modded controller if someone is interested.
The controller itself is in great condition. The rise4 buttons & clicky hair triggers basically work like they are brand new. I will also include a scuff controller case for extra protection when shipping. I also have an extra set of unopened clicky hair triggers that you could use to replace the pre-installed clicky hair triggers down the road or just give to a friend.
Included: - PS5 controller - Pre-installed rise4 remap kit w/ real metal buttons & grip - pre-installed clicky hair triggers - extra set of clicky hair triggers - scuff controller case
If you have any questions feel free to DM me. I prefer to ship to Canada or USA.

2024.06.01 08:56 ammodotcom History of PMC 45 ACP Ammo

Established in 1973, the Precision Made Cartridges (PMC) plant in South Korea was tasked with providing the country with all of their ammo needs. Now PMC provides high quality ammo at an incredibly affordable price point to American shooters.

Developed in 1904 by John Moses Browning for his iconic 1911 pistol, the 45 ACP was the main sidearm cartridge for the US military from WWI all the way through Vietnam. Renowned for its stopping power, the 45 Auto is America’s cartridge that is synonymous with freedom, victory, and the fight against tyranny.
If you’re looking for the most bang for your buck, then you owe it to yourself to grab a box of PMC Bronze 45 ACP ammo. PMC is renowned for producing extremely high-quality ammo that burns clean, is consistent, and accurate at a price point that virtually everyone can afford. PMC Bronze 45ACP is the flagship ammo line for the company and comes loaded with 230 grain FMJ (full metal jacket) or 185 JHP (jacketed hollow point) bullets.
These PMC 45 Auto rounds shoot straight and hit hard, making them an excellent choice for practicing with your favorite 1911, Glock 21, or M&P 45. PMC 45 ACP ammo is also Boxer primed, meaning the cases are reloadable if you like to reload your brass.
PMC Bronze 45 ACP is so popular that it is available in hermetically sealed battle packs of 250 round or you can really enhance your ammo stockpiles by purchasing PMC 45 ACP 1000 rounds at a time in a bulk ammo pack.
Another new line of ammo for PMC 45 ACP is their eRange ammunition. These PMC.45 ACP cartridges are loaded with a 230 grain TMJ (total metal jacket) bullet that is perfect for limiting lead exposure while shooting. Many indoor ranges now require TMJ bullets, so PMC 45 Auto eRange makes a great choice if you plan on shooting indoors for an extended period of time.

How Can You Save Money Buying PMC 45 ACP Ammo?

The T20 World Cup is coming to America... but is America aware?
Why does cricket struggle so much with ticketing issues before big tournaments? Embarrassing Even more embarrassing is "buy 1 get 20 free for US v Canada" That sentence equating success of the game in the US with decentralizing money from the big 3 is so disingenuous. Just say the US becomes a cricket powerhouse, it won't get money to Netherlands, Ireland etc...it will just be a big 4

2024.06.01 08:37 ThrowRA2171 I (18M) has fallen in love with (28M ) . But he doesn't love me back , what should I do?

Hello i am 18 years old guy from Nepal. I am currently studying Bachelor degree in science (chemistry group) in first year. Life was pretty normal. At 8th standard i discovered myself as a gay and at that time i didn't paid much attention to this . Then after completion of 12th grade, there was a holiday which was going boring as usual. So i asked myself why not to explore that community? . Then through social media i got to know about grindr which i download but there was nothing as i expected. Everyone was there for only physical intimacy. I'm kind of introvert person. I just wanted people (like me:gay) with whom i can share everything, understand me better and was ready to be in relationship too. But the i didn't find the one as expected so deleted that app and promised myself to stay away from such things forever. But recently two weeks before, suddenly the urge of finding someone who truly love me grew so intense that i could no longer control myself and again installed that app but i was banned from Grindr since i entered my original age which was year 2007 but the app restricts user below 18 years. Then after some searches, i found app named blued which was similar to grindr. Two days after installing, one guy suddenly messaged me. We talked a bit and with my sense i can feel that he was genuine and later we get connected to WhatsApp. After chatting for hours he said he wanted me to meet tomorrow. After thinking for a while i said yes. Then the day after he came to room. From very beginning i felt very nervous since i was in fear that what happenes if he doesn't like me or blah blah. I look decent but I'm lean and thin which is my biggest insecurity. After talking for hours we decided to ho out since i had to buy something from a shop . So we rode together in the scooter (which he brought) and had momos with cold drinks. After that we returned to my room. I swear i don't have any intension of hookups but he had . He approached me for kiss and then that thing happened. After that we had a very calm sleep together and at around 5 pm , he left for his home. Later that night he texted me and we again talked a little bit but from tomorrow morning i think i had fallen in love with him. I don't have any feelings coming from inside when he was with me. But now i had. He has a reputed banker job with 60 k salary which he resigned for abroad processing (Canada) and he was previously in relationship with doctor for 7 year's. Then,he had some work regarding documentation so he left for Kathmandu and our connection started breaking out. He left my message unseen for more than a day. He even seems disinterested in talking with me. But the more i try to forget him, more connected i feel.
I know he is very Senior to me. He has a well settled life and would be better in future if he moves abroad. He had his relationship with doctor. Even though he is 28 years old. He look like a guy of 23-24 years. Actually his standards doesn't match with mine. He belongs to a well to do family. And now I'm here doing Bsc whose scope is .....(You know) . But I'm falling for him day by day even though i try to avoid it. I know he doesn't like or love me but I'm unable to control my feelings, emotions.
