2024.03.24 07:05 No-Pomegranate534 Help Figuring Out What This Is

Hi everyone! Recently, I was looking to buy a watch for kicks and found a guy selling one on Facebook Marketplace. He claimed it was a ā€vintage Sovietā€ watch, and I ended up buying it. The best information he could give me was that was a ZIM Podeba; he had gotten it at an antique shop in Moscow. Either way, I like the watch, but Iā€™ve been trying to determine whether or not this thing is legit to no avail. I donā€™t really know too much about watches, so I was hoping some experts could potentially help me. Any help/information would be appreciated!

2023.10.25 13:46 BlindMaestro Women are allowed to have preferences. Men are not

Most women wonā€™t date:
Surveys and peer-reviewed bear this out. Many an article (ex. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9), video (ex. 1, 2, 3), and Reddit thread (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 5) have been devoted to shaming men who have reconsidered their current relationships or whoā€™ve passed on potential relationships with women that have extensive sexual histories.
Most people care about the sexual histories of prospective partners. Preferences only become an issue when men have them. ā€œThe past is the pastā€ only ever applies to women. Men are bullied and reviled for having standards that everyone permits women to have.
.
Women discriminate against promiscuous partners at similar rates as men
Thus, contrary to the idea that male promiscuity is tolerated but female promiscuity is not, both sexes expressed equal reluctance to get involved with someone with an overly extensive sexual history. (pg.1097)
Stewart-Williams, S., Butler, C. A., & Thomas, A. G. (2017). Sexual History and Present Attractiveness: People Want a Mate With a Bit of a Past, But Not Too Much. Journal of sex research, 54(9), 1097ā€“1105. https://doi.org/10.1080/00224499.2016.1232690
.
Targets were more likely to be derogated as the number of sexual partners increased, and this effect held for both male and female targets. These results suggest that, although people do evaluate others as a function of sexual activity, people do not necessarily hold men and women to different sexual standards (pg.175)

.
Second, we found considerable overlap between the responses of men and women. Men were slightly more forgiving of a large sexual history than women, but this effect was small and tracked the same ā€œpatternā€ as women. In short, there was very little evidence for a ā€œdouble standard."

.
We proposed that sexual promiscuity would negatively affect responses toward both gay and straight men, and tested the effects of sexual promiscuity along with femininity and masculinityā€”traits directly tied to gender role expectationsā€¦ women report increased negativity toward sexually promiscuous gay men, mediated by concern for disease threats. We also found support for the influence of gender roles, as heterosexual men reported decreased prejudice toward unambiguously masculine gay men. Both heterosexual women and men consistently reported increased social distancing toward sexually promiscuous straight men (pg.74)

Itā€™s not that no one cares about a potential mateā€™s sexual history; most people do care. But people seem to be about as reluctant to get involved with a man with an extensive sexual history as they are a woman.

Overall, participants rated those who had 0-14 partners above the mid-point of the scale, which tells us that they were more willing than unwilling to get involved with them. It was only when someone got to 15 or more partners that ratings fell below the mid-point and people were more reluctant to get involvedā€¦ Menā€™s and womenā€™s ratings were similar for long-term partners; however, men found larger numbers of partners acceptable than women when looking for short-term relationships.

15 is my cap. Thatā€™s a lot of people if youā€™re in your 20s or 30s.
Anything over 15 makes me nervous that heā€™s more dirty than experienced
Over 25 for sure. I prefer lower than that; 20-25 is where I start seeing it as a turn off.
Iā€™d say over 15. Of course, women want to be with a guy who knows how to move in the bedroom and isnā€™t just going to jackhammer and grunt for four and a half minutes. But I know, personally, it makes me uncomfortable to think about my partner or boyfriend having been with tons and tons of girls
20 is my cap. Realistically, a man or woman isnā€™t getting checked for STDs or using a condom every time they have sex with every new sexual partner.
I think over 10-15.
I think if a guy is 25-30 years old, 15-20 women is the top of the ceiling. Iā€™d want my partner to have been in some serious relationships before meā€”not cycling through women constantly.

Intriguingly, men and women closely agree on the ideal number of lifetime sexual partners ā€“ and their opinions werenā€™t too far off from the reality. Women said 7.5 is the ideal number of partners ā€“ only 0.5 partners above their actual average. Men cited 7.6 as the ideal number of partners, which is 1.2 fewer than their own actual averageā€¦ Our female respondents said they perceive the threshold for being too promiscuous is 15.2 partners, while men consider 14 the defining number when it comes to promiscuity.

Results indicated that heterosexual women rated bisexual men as less sexually and romantically attractive, less desirable to date and have sex with, and less masculine compared to straight men. Final Thoughts
Body count is the strongest predictor of infidelity, divorce, dissatisfaction, in addition to STDs, substance abuse disorders, mental health issues, etc. Those with unrestricted sociosexual orientations (considered by psychologists to be a stable personality characteristic) tend to separate sex from intimacy, find it more difficult than commit to monogamous relationships, and have higher rates or relationship dissatisfaction, making infidelity significantly more likely. High counts are strongly associated with a desire for alternative partners, variety in partners and a tendency to become dissatisfied in monogamous relationships because a current partner cannot compare in some quality with previous partners.
Men historically avoided committing to partners with promiscuous histories because they represented higher paternity fraud risks. Younger generations of women have higher rates of infidelity than their male counterparts, with female infidelity rates having risen while menā€™s remained constant. This is a useful heuristic for men to have when deciding whether or not commit to someone in the long-term. This double standard where men are condemned for exercising this preference while women can exercise similar preferences is a pernicious double standard.

Women discriminate against bisexual men and men with same-sex experiences at far higher rates than men
Results indicated that heterosexual women rated bisexual men as less sexually and romantically attractive, less desirable to date and have sex with, and less masculine compared to straight men. No such differences were found for heterosexual and gay menā€™s ratings of female and male profiles, respectively. These results support previous research findings that indicate more negative attitudes toward dating bisexual men than bisexual women. (pg.516)

Men are bullied are reviled for having standards that everyone permits women to have.

I think it starts to go overboard is 25+.

Picks Of The Week (by u/lefuniname)

1. Xyde - Blink State / Supercharged šŸ’Ž [Phase Records]

Recommended if you like: Enei, Notequal, Meph
You might not know about this particular Hidden Gemā„¢ļø yet, but as of this week, Italian producer Xyde has joined the very exclusive and probably rather short list of artists making the jump from first release to UKF upload in just a year's time. To phrase it like one of their articles: we have to talk about Xyde.
While Vasco Nose Savino is quite new when it comes to the DnB game, he has already reached quite some heights in the music business, as guitarist for the metal band Backjumper. Across 17 years (!) of service, he has toured all over Europe, released a whole bunch of albums, basically did the whole she-bang. After that much time in the same band, however, he understandably wanted to expand his artistic horizon a little. In 2019, it was finally time for him to quit the band, to make room for his adventures exploring the world of electronic music. A couple years later, in 2022, it was time to show off this new side of his artistic energy. Or should I say, this new Xyde? After his debut on BNCExpress, he started unleashing his phenomenal dubs left and right, releasing on the likes of Holographic, Jungle Pride, Incurzion, Four Corners and Yamatai in the process, often together with long-time collaborator and fellow Backjumper band member paCMan. Their work together might even be called phantom-enal. You know, Pacman, ghosts, all that. Anyway. And then, bam, this week his face suddenly appeared on UKF! It might sound like I'm oversimplifying things a little, but this all really did just happen very quickly!
So through which imprint did this jump on the career ladder come to fruition? London-based Phase Records! Founded by Gabrielle Gifta Zanot-Beard, an unbelievably fancy name I might add, after losing her job during the pandemic, the label actually started out as an promotional platform aiming to elevate the talents of tomorrow to new heights, which is why she originally went with the name Elevation. Shortly after, however, she stumbled upon that already existing pesky Dancefloor label "Elevate" by this no-name guy, Erosion, or something nerdy like that, so she pivoted over to the Phase brand instead. Now free of any potential name disputes, it was time to supercharge the platform, with guest mixes by friends of the format Apollo, PRFCT Mandem and Missledz, and free downloads by Kalane, Premonition and R3IDY. In late 2022 it was then finally time to transition over to phase two of their auditory universe, with their very first paid release, the Perspective compilation. From there on, all sorts of artists, like the Kiwi bois Inertia, Dapreme, Dunk, Kaizah and, of course, label boss Gifta became part of the extended Phase family, all leading up to this seventh release of theirs, Blink State / Supercharged by Xyde. So let's talk about those for a bit!
First we've got Blink State, the A-Xyde if you will, featuring none other than label founder and director Gifta herself! After establishing a properly evil atmosphere, the duo begins hyping us up to a different plane of existence, with aggressive breaks drawing closer and closer, multiple sounds endlessly travelling upwards on the music scale, and the voice sample from the intro spliced up into little pieces. Don't worry, all that hype is absolutely warranted, as they then launch into an outright attack on the listener. At first, a lot of different distorted brain-scritching noises come together to fight for the control of the drop, but soon after, a wall of pure distortion bulldozes everything in its way, creating a really satisfying call-and-response. Bassfaces galore.
Now with no one by his Xyde, Vasco finishes the release off with the appropriately-titled Supercharged! Right way, we get another wonderfully ominous atmosphere, full of glitched-out bits and bops, setting the mood perfectly, before the titular vocal sample announces our transition over to the fast-paced drop. Techy, rolly drums and a supremely deep bassline provide the foundation for all the elements from the intro to reappear in an even gloomier ambience. My favourite bit has to be the last third of the drop though, when we jump into a great back-and-forth between a one-two bass stab and the bassline and atmosphere collectively growling at us. Or maybe when it switches into a bit of 4x4 in the second half. It's hard to choose just one part, alright!
It's impossible to not be phased by how great these two new tunes are. Don't leave this e-xyde-ing new talent out of your Xyde!

2. Thread - Deep Cold EP [Integral Records]

Recommended if you like: En:vy, Hyroglifics, Trail
No release review thread would be complete without mentioning Thread and his gorgeous new EP. But who really is Thread even?
Dan "Thread" Hancox is a Bristolian producer of all things darkly beautiful and beautifully dark, is the short answer. Of course, that's not even close to the full picture though. Dan actually started out as a bassist of Hanover! And no, I don't mean the German city, I mean the electronic pop band touring all over the UK, until Dan eventually decided to call it quits in 2018, just as his first few DnB productions started hitting the shelves. Said debut release came on the very first ever release of the amazing Riddim Records, where he quickly became a regular and the reason why I fell in love with the label. Turns out that Dan wasn't just a regular contributor to its greatness, he was actually also the one orchestrating it all, as the label manager! So Dan, if you're reading this, please bring back Riddim, it is sorely missed. Riddim was of course never the only platform for him though, after a couple more years of wonderful releases his label catalogue expanded to include the likes of Parallel Depth, Skankandbass, Onyx, Impact, Deep Cold, DLT9 and Four Corners, even earning himself an "One's To Watch" label from UKF, until he eventually became an integral part of the Integral Records family in 2022.
Just a quick side note - I realised I should talk way more about Integral. Unlike other AIs out there right now, these ones are actually amazing at doing their job, you know? Just going back through their catalogue I see immense releases by Tatora, KALOA, Edlan, one of the best EPs last year from man like TZ, simply too many good things that I somehow rarely bring up here. Well, let me try to correct this by talking about Thread and his brand new Deep Cold EP!
We kick this 4-tracker off with the deservedly hyped-up, absolutely stunning title track, Deep Cold. Not only is the opening doing a simply incredible job in creating a cinematic soundscape that you can easily get lost in, with synths that I cannot get enough of and a spectacularly soulful vocal, after almost 2 minutes of pure beauty it also actually leads into an equally superb drop full of warm basses and even more atmospheric sounds completing the picture. If anything deserves your full attention for the entire 6 minute runtime, it's this gentle yet firm joyride of deeply soulful extravagance. On the other end of the rich deep and dark spectrum, we've got our next stop on our journey here, OOPS, featuring Freddy B on the perfectly mood-enhancing vocals. Man, is this one heavy. Unlike its predecessor, we're now embracing heavily steppy drums and all sorts of heavily distorted, rough sounds, tightly arranged to create a rather infectious rhythm. What an absolute banger.
For our third stop, Reverence, we're swinging back hard to the thoroughly vibey parts of Thread's sounds, with none other than deep vibe master himself, Brainwork, on the feature. Both on their own are already capable of supremely lush sounds, but together they are truly unstoppable. As much heavy reverberation applied to as many elements as possible, from the glorious synths to the straight-up lovely vocal, with a bassline that keeps you warm on even the deepest, coldest days. While I don't have many of those at the moment, I still absolutely love this one. Lastly, we're stepping things up another couple of notches on the energy scale, with Step Up. Right away, the rough atmosphere transports the listener to a warehouse or even factory-like setting, and before you know it, the roughness slaps you right across the face. How? With the most heavily distorted bleeps and bloops I've ever heard, bouncing on top of an equally messed-up bassline. In a good way! I especially love that little switchup halfway thorugh, when the instrumental steps up its game even further, launching a call-and-response between a flurry of stabby stabs and a rather mean bass wave. Huge!
Oops, he did it again. Threading the needle between lush and large with a level of precision you won't hear very often. Incredible EP.
Other deep and dark stuff from this week: - Sustance, Flowdan - Ten Ton - Klinical, En:vy - Fractured - Survey - Push EP - Audeon - Black Moth šŸ’Ž - Teknical, Tony Shape - Keeping It Simple / Organised Chaos - Yatuza, Asura - Get Fizzled **

2023.03.01 22:37 TheOddScreen Hip-Hop Listening Club #8: Nostra - This Thing of Ours

Welcome to HHH Listening Club!
This week we'll be listening to This Thing of Ours by Nostra selected by u/tak08810
Background by u/tak08810
Nostra was a rap duo that remains unknown even among the generally unappreciated rappers of the Philly DVD era, the underground scene spanning mainly the early to mid-00s. Not much can be found on them currently outside of footage from the 2 Raw for the Streets archive, the premier DVD series of the era. As far as I can tell they were a duo of Italian American rappers, Dot Dubb (Dillon) and Johnny Quest, from South Philly who started rapping in early 00s if not even earlier. Big Star, the director of the DVD series, refers to them as having amassed a strong local following early on and has the concert footage to support it. They were managed by Far-N-Low management, thereā€™s pretty much nothing I can find of them but itā€™s clear they managed another duo, Crime Partners featuring future ROC member Peedi Crakk plus Indy 500, as well as another even more obscure rapper named City Council.
This Thing of Ours is Nostraā€™s debut mixtape/album/demo released originally in 2001 and somehow magically appearing on streaming in 2018. Itā€™s pretty notable as most old mixtapes are not on streaming due to obvious clearance issues or just being lost. A mix of freestyles over established beats and original tracks, Nostra leans heavily into their mafioso image, which reportedly is genuine. Dot Dubb, distinguished by his deeper voice, seems to be set up as the star of the show given that he gets three solo tracks, two named after himself. However I think Johnny Quest is probably the more lyrically skilled one. Dubbā€™s precise flow and rhymes is standout as well, and overall they complement each other quite. Their fellow Far-N-Low members make a few guest appearances, Peedi Crakk in particular delivering some great verses. Definitely a few nice posse cuts on here.
As is the case for a lot of these kind of mixtapes thereā€™s not a lot of variety in terms of sounds or themes. Almost every track is just dedicated to aggressive verbal flexing. ā€œFuck E Richā€ is a straight up dis track - who E Rich is no one seems to know lol. The one exception is the softer sounding ā€œI Can Make Believeā€, a sort of love song although each rappers approached it in a different manner. But thereā€™s a lot of that raw, aggressive no frills pure rapping that I love so much about mixtapes from this scene.
Nostra of course never became successful even in an underground sense. According to this interesting post on the Phila Flava forum Jay Z was gonna sign them but they couldnā€™t stay out of legal issues - kind of a theme with Philly rappers from that scene unfortunately. The other story Iā€™ve heard is that Jay, when he met them, didnā€™t really like seeing a white guy with braids lol. Who knows lol. I put them in the same category too as a bunch of other Italian American rappers with a mafia type gimmick who never blew - the LOX affiliate Genovese, JoJo Pelligrino, Shark, and Merlino etc
I picked this album after debating whether to pick another underground classic people would be familiar with like Soul On Ice or Misery Loves Comedy but decided to go with something truly obscure and representing the type of music Iā€™m most into these days. Thereā€™s very few that are actually on DSPs, the other notable mixtape from the era on streaming is The Monopolyā€™s Mville Get Them Killed but I prefer Nostraā€™s tape more and feel itā€™s actually more accessible. Enjoy this rare, niche mixtape!

2022.07.11 16:20 BlindMaestro Women are also discriminatory when selecting romantic partners based on sexual history, but only men are shamed for having preferences regarding it.

copy/paste: https://controlc.com/13f98fdf
Inspired by this +5.6k 2X post condemning men for having standards. Women, like men, discriminate on the basis of sexual history when selecting for romantic partners. Because sexual and relational histories are extremely useful predictors of the future success of relationships, being the best predictors of future infidelity, dissatisfaction and divorce, it would be foolish not to take them into account when considering a long-term relationship with someone. Unfortunately, only men experience societal disapproval (and, sometimes, harassment) for exercising judgement by taking sexual history into account when vetting potential romantic partners. Many an article (ex. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, video (ex. 1, 2, 3), and Reddit thread (1, 2, 3, 4) have been devoted to shaming men who have reconsidered their current relationships or whoā€™ve passed on potential relationships with women that have extensive sexual histories. When men are told that ā€œthe past is the past,ā€ they need to understand that in reality this only intended to be applied where womenā€™s histories are concerned. The majority of men today will still be rejected for being inexperienced, too experienced, bisexual, or for having visited a prostitute. While these preferences of women are completely valid and make sense, what isnā€™t right is that men are shamed for having similar preferences.
The majority of women discriminate against inexperienced men

An OkCupid survey similarly has borne this out, with over 40% indicating ā€œdefinitely NOT,ā€ and which exceeds 60% when you tack on ā€œprobably NOT.ā€
Younger people in their 20s were particularly less likely to say they would date a virgin ā€” even though most virgins were in this age rangeā€”and women were more likely to report not wanting to date someone without sexual experience than men.

Most women discriminate against bisexual men and men whoā€™ve engaged in same sex experimentation
(pg.516)

Men who are too experienced are discriminated against
Now this one was particularly interesting. A lot of women will pass on men with too many partners. In addition to myriad empirical studies which can attest to this, a poignant example was when Muscle and Fitness magazine asked several women in 2017 if they had upper limits to the number of acceptable partners of a prospective partners. Just imagine the feminist backlash if men were interviewed instead of women. Here were some of their responses:
if itā€™s 30-40, Iā€™m out.
.
15 is my cap. Thatā€™s a lot of people if youā€™re in your 20s or 30s.
.
Anything over 15 makes me nervous that heā€™s more dirty than experienced
.
Over 25 for sure. I prefer lower than that; 20-25 is where I start seeing it as a turn off.
.
Iā€™d say over 15. Of course, women want to be with a guy who knows how to move in the bedroom and isnā€™t just going to jackhammer and grunt for four and a half minutes. But I know, personally, it makes me uncomfortable to think about my partner or boyfriend having been with tons and tons of girls
.
20 is my cap. Realistically, a man or woman isnā€™t getting checked for STDs or using a condom every time they have sex with every new sexual partner.
.
I think over 10-15.
.
I think if a guy is 25-30 years old, 15-20 women is the top of the ceiling. Iā€™d want my partner to have been in some serious relationships before meā€”not cycling through women constantly.
.
I think it starts to go overboard is 25+.

.
Thus, contrary to the idea that male promiscuity is tolerated but female promiscuity is not, both sexes expressed equal reluctance to get involved with someone with an overly extensive sexual history. (pg.1097)

.
Second, we found considerable overlap between the responses of men and women. Men were slightly more forgiving of a large sexual history than women, but this effect was small and tracked the same ā€œpatternā€ as women. In short, there was very little evidence for a ā€œdouble standard."

.
Targets were more likely to be derogated as the number of sexual partners increased, and this effect held for both male and female targets. These results suggest that, although people do evaluate others as a function of sexual activity, people do not necessarily hold men and women to different sexual standards (pg.175)

Both heterosexual women and men consistently reported increased social distancing toward sexually promiscuous straight men (pg.74)

.

Women discriminate against men whoā€™ve seen prostitutes
Some choice quotes on potentially dating men whoā€™ve solicited the services of sex workers:
A DRY SPELL IS NO EXCUSE
"I worry about the justification when men say, 'It's just sex'. I could be in the biggest dry spell of my life, literally years, and I still wouldn't pay for sex. It wouldn't even cross my mind to pay for sex.ā€ Terri, 28
.
NO WAY
"It would massively change my opinion of my boyfriend.ā€ Siobhan, 33
.
IT'S OFF-PUTTING
"It's harsh, but it would definitely be a deal-breaker for me. The idea of someone paying for sex is just off-putting.ā€ Robyn, 32
.
"If they'd paid for sex within the last five years, I couldn't date them. I find it deeply unattractive. It undermines all of a man's masculinity and is almost pity inducing.ā€ Maria, 27
.
I CAN DO BETTER THAN THAT
"I'm not sure I could marry or have kids with someone who thought it was OK to pay for sex, or even to pay to watch women get naked.ā€ Erin, 30
Askham, G. (2016, November 1). Would you date a guy who has paid for sex? Glamour UK. https://www.glamourmagazine.co.uk/article/would-you-date-a-guy-who-has-paid-for-sex (https://archive.ph/yT0sn)

Funnily enough, on a subreddit where most women indicated they wouldnā€™t date men whoā€™ve been with escorts, a woman posted about her first experience with a male escort receiving +1300 upvotes.
Final thoughts
Men are instructed to overlook womenā€™s histories while women are not, and most women will not overlook menā€™s histories. When women say, ā€the past is the pastā€ā€, thatā€™s only ever applied to their pasts. Men place themselves at a severe disadvantage when they adhere to this inequitable double standard.

2022.07.07 10:57 JackCarver Help With furniture planning in a studio apartment

I will start renting a 33 sq. meter studio apartment but with a strange shape.
Here is the floor plan:https://i.imgur.com/diAUiaQ.png (numbers are in milimiters)
As you can see it has a rectangle shape with 2 rooms on top and bottom with kitchen and bathroom in between.
Room 1 and 3 are at the bottom and that is where is the entrance is also. Here's how this room looks: https://i.imgur.com/MmBASxR.jpg
https://i.imgur.com/eEMJbYI.jpg
https://i.imgur.com/7HwB1kD.jpg
Room 2 is at the top with sliding doors and entrance to balcony. Here's how this room looks: https://i.imgur.com/qgM701v.jpg
https://i.imgur.com/ZzMdLCX.jpg
https://i.imgur.com/tXIul1M.jpg
https://i.imgur.com/Qd4Ekg5.jpg
Here's my biggest dilemmas. Where to sleep and where to work/play?
Option 1. Work/play in room 2 where all the connections for internet, TV are. Don't want to position TV here as floor plan suggests because then I would need at least a 75" or bigger TV if I were to put couch on the other side of the room. I'm a bit of a cinephile so this is important to me. So I think I have to put it in front of the big window with some black out curtains in case of movie watching during the day and for there to be less distance between TV and seating area. Area 1 and 3 include a murphy bed with dining table or maybe just a murphy bed and then a transformable table like this one. Or maybe a bar table like this one that I can put in the little hallway between room 2 and 1.
Problem here is I would have to sleep right where I enter the apartment and I would need to cover that window next to the main doors with one way window film. But I would get up and have my wardrobe closet right there (right side of room 1).
Option 2.
Main difference is where sleeping takes place. Here it is in room 2. And PC/work station in room 3. But the problem here is I don't have ethernet connections here in room 1 and maybe room 2 would look a bit cramped this way.
So my main question is how should I place my PC/work station, sleep and TV with the smaller dilemmas like where to put dining area.
Where do you guys see advantages, disadvantages of either options?

1. The Caracal Project, Skylark - It's about time we run into you [DIVIDID]

Recommended if you like: IMANU, gyrofield, Circumference
It's about time we talk a little about these two.
With these two I'm talking about The Caracal Project and Skylark, of course. They've just dropped probably the best EP of 2021, after all. But wait, but who are these producers named after big floppy-eared cats and a small brown bird even? Well, let's find out!
Let's start with The Caracal Project. FĆ©lix, or Oscar, depending on the day, has been at the forefront of experimental, genre-bending Drum and Bass since the very start of this project. After his more "classically" Neurofunk debut single on Black Inferno Records USA's Various Artists EP Extraction in 2017, he immediately pivoted over to a sound that was deeper and more Caracal Project-esque on his debut EP Fallin' on the excellent Impact Music. A sound that was unique enough that it lead to his first Noisia Radio play right away. Also a sound that was unique enough to quickly catch Neurofunk connoisseur Phace's attention, which lead to his double single Go Get Some / Botfonk on NƋU, the Hamburgian (I don't think that's a word) producer's label for up-and-comers. According to his 2020 UKF interview Phace actually even invited him to his studio for a few days of 1-on-1 collaboration right after the double single got signed, which directly lead to the follow-up, the Homegrown EP, a few months later. At this point everyone following the scene's up-and-comers closely knew who FĆ©lix was. Releases on IMANU and Abis' DIVIDID, Noisia's VISION, Black Sun Empire's Blackout Music and UKF followed, all of these just in 2020. The Caracal Project isn't just known for genre-bending drum and bass anymore though, in the meantime he has also started producing dubstep, the first example being his collab with Leotrix New Lesson. Just like a lot of his contemporaries, he also started a Patreon in 2020, where he regularly shares samples, production insights and exclusive tracks. He doesn't do that alone though. Enter Skylark.
Skylark is yet another example of a french DnB talent pushing through the thicket of releases with high-quality production to recognition from all over the international scene. He started out on Skankandbass in 2016, followed by various outings on the legendary Dispatch Recordings. Just like his collaborative EP partner, he's also part of the modern dnb super-group that is Music Squad, which also includes the likes of IMANU, Buunshin, Grey Code, Vorso and many many more. After the first few dispatches of his signature deep sound on said legendary label in the early years earned him attention from people like Noisia, he soon branched out to new label after new label, including the likes of Overview Music, DIVIDID, NƋU and even VISION. If you've paid attention to the unique blends of Techno and Classical influences he's creating in his productions, he's probably on your list of artists to watch. Well, if you like that sort of stuff at least.
Enough talking about labels and history or whatever, let's talk about the EP!
It's about time we run into you starts off with the strongest EP opener I've heard in a while: the musical experience that is Quick Of Breath, featuring the breathtaking (hehe get it) vocals by the Swiss-based vocalist LaMeduza. I've liked and even loved a lot of both frenchmen's output over the last few years, but this track exceeds everything that came before for me. Even though it might not end up being in my top 5 most listened tracks this year (you know I'm too much of a dancefloor fanboi for that, sorry guys), it will almost certainly be one of the first tracks I'll mention for the Best Of 2021 threads. Just the way it is structured is already so damn satisfying. The incredibly dramatic intro with LaMeduza blessing us with her angelic voice over war drums and massive basslines synced to her vocal performance, the first bit of the at first mostly instrumental drop moving forward in a still relatively relaxed way, the first time LaMeduza's vocal re-enters the song and the Watercats-esque drums just keep increasing in power, that little pause followed by an incredibly goosebumps-causing explosion of sound, the noticeably more aggressive continuation of lyrics with the instrumental rising and rising in tension until it explodes into one last chilling cry. Amazing amazing amazing.
I imagine it's hard to properly follow up on such an amazing experience. Not for these two though. Run might be more "traditional" structurally than the opener, but there's just so many great unique things about it that it doesn't feel any less magnificent. Imagine the unique sound of The Caracal Project, from the drums to the type of melodies, combined with the more dramatic and melodic side of Skylark's sound (like on The Chase), mix it together with a whole lot of "newschool" vocal chops and you get Run! In the second half the tune at first takes a route that's a little less dramatic sounding, focusing mostly on the quickly rolling drums and the various little deep sound bytes chiming in left and right, before ending on a heavy, more melodic note. In short: the best parts about both producers mixed together.
Next up we've got Into You. The most distinct thing about this track is the more funky-wonky rhythm of the drums and melody throughout most of the track, reminiscent of The Caracal Project's early work like Go Get Some, but with way more weight behind it all. However, it doesn't stay like that for very long. The first half of the first drop builds itself up more and more until it is seamlessly transformed into a more high-energy rolling version of itself for a few bars, before returning to its wonky origins. Strangely addicting tune and a half.
Lastly we've got Time. Not only does Time completely nail that "heavy, rolling, techy" energy that I absolutely love in that whole newschool subsubgenre, it also engulfs that vibe into an ominous sounding cinematic atmosphere. An example for that psychological horror feeling I'm referring to is that extremely heavy breathing that can be heard right from the start, which only ever really leaves the listener's side for a short while in the second half of the track. Like something is right behind you. In that second half the rolling rhythm of it all breaks down into a more rhythmically unique section, with the drums being cut back nearly completely and only coming back one by one. A great ending to a great EP.
While the insanely good Quick Of Breath might be this EP's figurehead, it is definitely worth it to take a closer look at the rest of the release. You might miss some of the best forward-thinking DnB tracks otherwise. One of the best EPs this year for sure.
Other deep and techy stuff from this week: - Klinical - Sinful EP (so so so good, I might just cover it at some other point) - Meph - Unifying EP šŸ’Ž - Archaea - Pumpin' Groove / Simple Attraction šŸ’Ž - ShortBall - Moving Mountains šŸ’Ž - N-Mon1c - Le Ux / Pinnacle šŸ’Ž - SUUNE - Signal

2. Lexurus - Waveline EP [Liquicity Records]

Recommended if you like: Sub Focus, Polygon, Andromedik
As a proud wearer of the Liquicity flair, I think it's also about time to talk about the Dutch label a little bit again. More specifically, about Lexurus' debut EP Waveline!
If you'd ask me what my favourite newcomer or underrated producer would be, Lexurus would be very high on the probably way too long list. The dutch newcomer from The Hague has been incredibly consistently putting out great tune after great tune, ever since he started releasing music in 2015. Wait, but are you even a newcomer anymore when you're around for that long? Are you even a newcomer anymore if you've been part of T & Sugah's High Tea Music since 2017 and a regular on Maduk's dancefloor behemoth Liquicity since 2019? Are you even a newcomer anymore if your tracks are becoming so big they're being played out since months by the likes of Sub Focus and Wilkinson? Well, maybe not. The fact that, even with this amount of recognition and success, I still feel like he deserves way more attention, speaks volumes about just how great his output is though. Did you know that he also runs the 22k subscriber heavy electronic music showcase channel Grizzly Music since 2016? Well, now you do!
If you haven't heard much about Lexurus before, this is the perfect opportunity to check him out, since this debut EP contains a lot of his greatest tracks of the last few months. The seemingly simple but extremely catchy "uplifting stomper" Crystalize gets a whole new extended intro with Prelude, which makes the whole atmosphere of it even more easy to get lost in. Surely you've also already heard the stunning Magnify, featuring the insanely beautiful vocals of Rhode. If not, you can also check out my review of it from last year. Spoiler: I liked it so much it was pretty much my personal anthem of 2020. But have you also heard how American DnB ambassador Justin Hawkes flipped it into a way a heavier, rolling version of itself? Surely you've also been losing your mind to Continua, the collaboration with Dualistic that's been present in literally all dancefloor-focused sets since it's release in January?
That's of course not all though, this EP also brings us a few completely fresh goodies!
The first one is Oblivion, which represents Lexurus' return to Halftime, 4 years after About You on High Tea in 2017. Compared to About You though, Oblivion is sitting more on the hard-hitting side of the subgenre. It is still very recognizably a Lexurus track though. Even as someone who isn't necessarily a huge fan of Halftime, I can still appreciate all the little details, the atmosphere and the as-expected really clean production that went into this one.
The next new addition is the titular Waveline, a collaboration with probably my favourite dnb duo Polygon. Sometimes when two artists you like collab together the end result is just a little meh, either due to extremely high expectations, because it's just different than what you expected or because it's just meh. This is not one of those. Waveline is the perfect mix of both acts involved: the perfect choice of a unique vocal you learned to expect from Polygon, the incredibly catchy synthwork from Lexurus, the squeaky-clean production from both of them. Every single one of the many, by themselves already great, pieces fit together just right to form one perfect dancefloor anthem that won't leave my playlist anytime soon. With already 70 listens while writing this sentence, Waveline has shot up into my top 5 most played tracks of 2021 in less than 7 days. To say I love it would be a massive understatement.
Last but absolutely not least we've got Reminiscence, which might be a word that took me three tries to write correctly, but is nevertheless a really fitting title. I blame my banana thumbs. Anyway, what's important is that it's a vibe and a half. With the help of the beautiful vocals of Dave Marriner and the production talents of dutch electronic music producer Roses, Lexurus managed to craft a real "keeping your eyes closed at the rave because you don't want to show that you're crying" type anthem. Not only are the lyrics very nostalgia-inducing, the rolling break-y drums and the little 2012 dancefloor wubs in the background of the instrumental also very much take you on a trip down memory lane. My favourite part has got to be the synths though. Man are those melodies ever gorgeous. Makes me feel like I'm at the last set on the last day at Liquicity Festival.
If you like Liquicity-style dancefloor, you will love this EP. I certainly do.
Other great dancefloor from this week: - Blaine Stranger, Voicians - Sirens (<3333) - K Motionz - Tell You - More Plastic - Rewind - CLIQUES. - Are You There? (VIP, Kleu Remix and Acoustic) - Memento Mori - Reason šŸ’Ž

2021.05.23 14:00 illusionmist [Discussion] File transfer via Thunderbolt on iPad Pro 2021 is 3x~4x slower than a Mac

Been watching lots of iPad Pro 2021 reviews on YouTube, and noticed that many reviewers found out the file transfer speed via the new Thunderbolt port on the iPad Pro 2021 is 3x~4x slower than on a Mac (in one example it goes only about 300~400MB/s, whereas on an Mac it goes 1GB+/s).
Here are the videos I saw mentioning slow (or downright failed) Thunderbolt file transfer:
I seem to recall Apple mentioning the internal storage speed of the new iPad Pro is also faster, in addition to the Thunderbolt, so I'm not really sure where the bottleneck is. Do you guys think it's a software limitation that could be fixed in the future? Or have you seen other testings or possible solutions?

2021.01.25 04:45 0point5_KD_Legend [Late Dumpster #2372] ttv/AceMcNastyUSAKlaus' "Outcast Highlander Demon Hunter": With the addition of "Illidari Studies", comes the first semi-viable Outcast OR Highlander DH deck! (1x 10/15 cards with "Outcast" keyword)

DISCLAIMER: After reading all the comments on every x/post, I figured it was a given, but maybe not, that when I say "first semi-viable HL DH", Wild mode is assumed- pretty common knowledge some guy got top 200 Standard with a HL DH last season. Wild OR Standard though, you're definitely looking at the first Legend hit with 10+ cards having to do with "Outcast" keyword. Thanks for the support everyone!!!
TABLE OF CONTENTS / INDEX:

  1. Brief Prologue / See my previous guide (my first Hearthstone guide) for my full biography as a pro player.
  2. Decklist and Copy Code / A short disclaimer involving viable cards to sub in, followed by my signature TCG-tutorial-calling-card: a short explanation of WHY EACH CARD is included in the deck.
  3. "What is Aggro?" / See the aforementioned previous guide for my tutorial on Hearthstone/TCG overall, although some of the best points will be copypasta'd. ***Some form of a mulligan guide is included here, although I hate putting a hard mulligan guide in my TCG tutorials as it can be misleading for novice players.

PROLOGUE:

PROOF: BNet to run my analytics yourself = VrdisFelsoul#1447 (I thought heavily about making my BNet name "AceMcNasty", but I don't think most would get the Seth MacFarlane/American Dad reference just from that. Any advice on the subject from someone more adept at social media would be appreciated as I don't yet have a manager.)
https://imgur.com/a/g6Rst1r

I'm gonna try something different here and now with this new guide. Those who have read my previous 4 text guides/tutorials know I'm probably the most long-winded of those still left who haven't crumbled to the tantalizing offer of becoming a Twitch str*amer. This guide is a lot different though- not a troll, and not a "guide for beginners wording how to do something really easy in a different manner than ever before", sooo...

...Since I've actually accomplished something real, novel, and challenging for the first time, my goal here is to make this guide a LOT shorter and more readable. After all, those who know they have real strength and are legitimately clouted up are often very curt/quiet with an aura of dignity, aren't they?

Still after a day, it seems totally surreal that after 5 years of playing Hearthstone (the longest time I've ever spent doing anything in my 27 years, besides working on cars), I can actually now stake my claim to a spot in the bottom-tier of professional players, as one of the first Demon Hunter mains to help pave the way for the game's newest class... So that's another reason I'm gonna make the guide brief, I'm honestly very busy partying and celebrating what I believe to be a huge accomplishment, and I wanna get back to it! Haha.

First and foremost, as a professional g*mer, I've got to thank my official sponsors!

HEARTHSTONE- big thanks to:HearthstoneCirclejerk and its moderator u/Stonehearthed, gg/HearthstoneCommunity, and the clan I was adopted into, gg/PointysHearth (also my coach @ Fox, he switched out a couple of cards in this deck that really helped me out- more to come on that in the "Decklist and Copy Code" section).

DESTINY 2- many gratefulnesses (my browser didn't even flag that as a fake word lol) to:
and gg/ DestinyTheGame; their community mods have been endlessly supportive in helping me start gg/CrucibleCollective, which is now thriving as a public server!

POKEMON GO- huge ups to:
gg/DragonMonLeague and gg/AmpharosClan, who have been my friends for years! PokemonGoBrag in addition. ( and gg/ PokemonGo has also been very wonderful to me, but I will NOT put them as an official sponsor as I don't want all of the off-color memes on my Reddit profile to sully their name).

DECKLIST AND COPY CODE:

Ululate and lament, TCG players of Azeroth! A new archetype for your most hated class has now come to fruition. I was told by many players better than myself that the deck would actually be more viable in Standard mode, but I've already hit Legend rank there twice so the idea didn't appeal to me so much as punishing an army of Highlander Priests, Secret Mages, and Battlecry Shaman who haven't had an original thought once in their meek lives (just joking with you guys, the wrought accessibility of polished T1 decks definitely hasn't turned this game into a glorified and insanely boring version of rock-paper-scissors at most levels >.>).

So, that brings me to your first question, that you'll inevitably ask once you peep the list- that question is the main reason this DISCLAIMER SECTION is placed here in the first place:
WhErE iN tHe WoRlD dO yOu GeT oFf ThRoWiNg LeErOy InTo A sTaNdArD dEcK aNd CaLlInG iT a WiLd DeCk YoU cReTiN?!?! REEEEEEEEEEEE

Well friends, the answer is very simple- I was hard walled at Diamond 3 with the full Wild hero power pack (Garrison Commander and Lowly Squire; couldn't find room for Tour Guide), until the aforementioned coach @ Fox explained to me that Demon Hunter is actually like the worst class to build hero power on, as its hero power is A) already cheap, and B) as such, doesn't do much compared to others. He helped me remove the Wild hero power kit, along with my Arcane Anomaly, and replace them with nice tempo cards like Frozen Shadoweaver, Stiltstepper, and Altruis the Outcast (he also added Acrobatics, which I found to be a tad clunky and was what I ended up switching out for Illidari Studies, the missing piece that SHOT ME FROM RANK 3 TO LEGEND IN A MERE HOUR OR TWO, THE EASIEST CLIMB I'VE EVER EXPERIENCED although it happened during casual time (weekend hours). The bottom line is, most cards that work well with Demon Hunter have come out since DH's inception

Lemme hit you guys with the EXTREMELY IMPRESSIVE matchup spread before we get into it (these are probably much higher than I can report; I'm not as good of a player as I am a homebrewer):
Secret Mage: ~60% wr
Token Druid: ~70% wr
Highlander Priest: >50% wr
Odd Demon Hunter: >60% wr (say hello to your second-ever Wild DH archetype, folks)
Tempo Pirate Face Weapon Rogue: ~57% wr
Pirate Warrior: 0% wr
Battlecry Shaman: 30% wr
***THIS DECK HAS NOT YET GONE UP AGAINST TILLER PRIEST, I HAVE THANKED GOD HIMSELF MANY A TIME ALREADY FOR LETTING ME HIT LEGEND BEFORE THAT FIASCO STARTED (shout out to Priest mains for once again being... jeez I don't even know the word I'm looking for without being too mean... although my comment earlier this month likening Priest mains to USA GOP members has a high upvote % at the moment).

### WILD Outcast Aggrolander
# Class: Demon Hunter
# Format: Wild
#
# 1x (1) Battlefiend - He's your battlefriend. Cards that are mainstays in most aggro DH decks will from now on just be signified with the term **DH BS**
# 1x (1) Blazing Battlemage - **DH BS**
# 1x (1) Consume Magic- I thought this would be a great addition for the Wild ladder as there are more homebrewers and creative players there- I didn't remove it once I realized people follow a meta bible just like Standard; it won me enough games by that point tbth). My point is, you need as many ways to hop a taunt or lifesteal as you can get your hands on if trying to run a versatile aggro deck.
# 1x (1) Crimson Sigil Runner - It's just too funny to drop one off the left on turn 1 (although it's often not your best option). It sure confuses people after they've seen 6 Secret Mage matchups in a row lol.
# 1x (1) Demon Companion - "Let's make Animal Companion but for the Demon Hunter class, as we designed DH to basically take the reigns from Hunter as the garbo aggro class, same as Team 2 did all those years ago" -Team 5
# 1x (1) Guardian Augmerchant - **DH BS**
# 1x (1) Illidari Studies - I swear this card is the key, we will be seeing Outcast decks now. Same as Discard mechanism had a delay in becoming valid as they churned out cards guessing what would stick. I am SO CONFIDENT IN THE ABOVE STATEMENT as I am typing this guide frantically, hoping to still be able to say I was the first to create an Outcast archetype.
# 1x (1) Intrepid Initiate - **DH BS**
# 1x (1) Mana Burn - Most good Aggro DHs know other class' staple board clears, and pop this lil' guy off WITH EXTREME STRATEGY
# 1x (1) Twin Slice - I hate to say **DH BS** on this because it's also a staple in Soul decks in addition to Aggro decks... I was floored to learn that Demon Hunter class' staple card that the class is based around was nerfed and is STILL popular.
# 1x (2) Bonechewer Brawler - **DH BS**
# 1x (2) Chaos Strike - A good tip I wish to give to aspiring homebrewers, after over 4 cumulative years of homebrewing experience: the easiest way to lower the skillcap and heighten the winrate of your pet project is to add a cheap, damage-dealing spell or two.
# 1x (2) Redeemed Pariah - I was on the edge of my seat to see what they were planning to do with the Outcast mechanism when I saw this card announcement- 2x Pariah is gonna be seen as a staple once Outcast DH grows more.
# 1x (2) Sightless Watcher - "Let's make Tracking but for the Demon Hunter class, as we designed DH to basically take the reigns from Hunter as the garbo aggro class, same as Team 2 did all those years ago" -Team 5
# 1x (2) Spectral Sight - Tbth, sometimes you need to run this from the middle of your hand and waste its Outcast effect. There are a couple cards like that below- most of the time you pull wins off without using a deck in a PERFECTLY IDEAL way, unless it's an anti-aggro control deck I feel. It's a really hard habit I'm trying to break as I learn more about this game
# 1x (2) Umberwing - **DH BS** Sometimes you need to trash your second swing if you topdeck your Dreadlord's Bite at the right time.
# 1x (2) Wriggling Horror - One of the final things I got advice about that made the climb really easy- sometimes the right answer is to drop this card when you only have 1 other minion on the board. I know right?! I was surprised too- as I said, the "playing cards without them being fully optimized" is often necessary to win when playing aggro, and the opposite is a habit extremely ingrained into me.
# 1x (2) Zephrys the Great - BILL AND TED'S EXCELLENT GENIE! "Your wish, *hair flip, stoney giggle*, is my suggestion!" ********** Notice there's no Dragonqueen Alexstraza in this deck- pretty sure the first incarnation of HL DH a few months back had it though, and THAT'S where that homebrewer went wrong.
# 1x (3) Dreadlord's Bite - **DH BS** If they're gonna nerf Eddie VanQueef to a 4-mana cost after all these years, this card DEFINITELY needs a SECOND nerf.
# 1x (3) Frozen Shadoweaver - It's like having a second Mana Burn that works differently- you can make the turn your opponent needs to win, fall apart right in front of their eyes.
# 1x (3) Line Hopper - It's cool to see him survive for a turn and help you burn your hand, even cooler to see him proc the ever-loving Jesus Christ out of Altruis, but in the end, 4/5 of the time he was just a 3-mana 3/4. "Board meat" is one of my favorite terms. He's gonna be there after you trigger Flame Ward. He's gonna be there after you get Breath of the Infinite smashed way up into your colon past its s-bend. HE'S. JUST. GONNA. BE. THERE. FOR. YOU. Like that guy nobody actually wants to date cuz they know they'll be the first to do so.
# 1x (3) Satyr Overseer - **DH BS** Later in the climb, if I had an amazing opening hand and good board presence like Bonechewer Brawler, sometimes I'd just put him out on turn 3 without proc'ing him. He definitely survived to get proc'd the next turn more often than I would have dreamed!!!
# 1x (3) Stiltstepper - I thought he only worked in Hyperaggro- my coach said "nay". Yeah, I now agree, 10 face damage on turn 9 feels like carving a snowboard through fresh powder.
# 1x (3) Voracious Reader - **DH BS** This isn't pre-nerf Stiltstepper Hyperaggro- you're really only looking for 1 or 2 cards out of her- AND SHE STILL PULLS HER WEIGHT IN THAT RESPECT. Remember, until this deck catches on, people won't know what to do, and wasting a nice spell on her in a hilarious misplay only you are aware of will put a smile on your face.
# 1x (4) Altruis the Outcast - 4/2 for 4 that sometimes clears board **and does face damage**. I still don't really know how to use him- he never survives until the next turn to be proc'd and I'm never sitting on turn 6 with him and 2 1-cost spells at the ends of my hand.
# 1x (4) Illidari Felblade - I don't care about the Immune effect's free trade, I care about how she hard counters both a Lifesteal mechanic AND Explosive Runes, a mainstay in the ever-popular "Darkmoon Wild Secret Mage".
# 1x (4) Kayn Sunfury - I think there's a reason they stopped printing Charge cards 0wO >.< ...
# 1x (4) Vilefiend Trainer - Another one that doesn't need to be proc'd. Why isn't this card a 3/4 for 4?! It seems very underrated to me.
# 1x (5) Leeroy Jenkins - "Hello, you've reached the scheduling service for Dr. G. Roy Lenkins, D.D.S., would you like to make an appointment?"
# 1x (6) Skull of Gul'dan - I thought I'd put a little shoutout to u/Scungabunf (everyone's favorite HSCirclejerk Oger) here, Oger-to-Oger: Skull of Fel'dan (6): Summon 3 2/3 Illidari. Outcast: Summon 5, and if your opponent played any kind of AoE last turn, fill your board with them.

  1. WHAT IS AGGRO?:

Im gonna make this section brief, as a lot of what I'd like to put here was covered in my last guide featured on HS_Duels. I'm also going to copypasta 1 or 2 overarching points about TCGs overall into this section from that guide, as I feel they're important and this guide has a higher chance of being seen by more players.

Aggro is not an aggressive deck that SMOrcs face, that's a common misconception. One of my favorite quotes I've created, which really helped the game click for me and allowed me to hit Standard Legend without co-op for the first time when it hit me, is this:

"Even Face Hunters trade every weapon face swing and every minion that survives to attack."
THE DIFFERENCE IS, for these Face Hunters or Token Druids etc, most of the time the trades start to NOT pay off VERY EARLY in the game. Due to this, you'll find yourself spending 3 turns in a row going face, but as things progress, you might have to trade 1 or 2 minions in on something they lay down. Learning how to handle an Aggro vs. Aggro situation is the key to being able to move up towards higher-skillcap Midrange and Control decks.

Another question I often get when it comes up in conversation that I'm starting to learn how to be a good aggro player, is this:

"ttv/AceMcNastyUSAKlaus, how do I know when to push? To be a good Aggro player, you need to know how to play around spells, AoE spells, and Taunt minions you don't necessarily have an answer for, right?"

Yes, and no. My coach, who used to be on a professional team and is well-respected around the CompHS community, would say yes. MOST *good* players in the CompHS community would agree with him there. I don't think you're reading this section of the guide if you're trying to turn your Top 500 finishes into Top 200 finishes or looking to become a Grandmaster, but I could be being presumptuous. I'm not a very good player, but I CAN tell you that if you just want to hit Dumpster Legend, or even get out of the Dumpster a few hundred ranks with aggro, you will have a fine time merely worrying about the below points:

A- Know your mulligans. They change for every matchup and every meta- HECK, mine even change based upon my mood. Some cards you only keep if you see a nice line involving other cards your opening hand is showing. FOR THIS DECK, you're generally looking for 1-cost minions (not spells), Bill & Ted's Bogus Genie, or lines like Coin/BonecheweAugmerchant and Coin/Umberwing/Wriggling Horror.

B- For your first 3-4 turns at least, when playing Aggro you MUST play your cards and execute your lines in a very specific order which allows for optimal trades (your game is basically won or lost by turn 5 I've found). This involves knowing the meta, and knowing your opponent's drops for those turns. This was a tip given to me by CompHS figureheads, and a good chunk of them all seemed to agree in bestowing this tip unto me.

"Wait ttv/AceMcNastyUSAKlaus, it seems like you're saying the totality of any TCG is based upon evaluating trades, and choosing to make them versus going face? If that's the case, then HOW exactly do I make a good trade?"
Well... The answer to the above question is the part of the guide I'm gonna rip from my last guide, and probably finish with, because I truly feel it's mind-blowing for new and experienced players alike:

Chess. Poker. Magic. What do all of these games have in common, which has kept them popular throughout thousands/over one hundred/tens of years???

...They're the game of life. Literally. Not like the Milton Bradley Hasbro board game, come on, I'm actually being grave here- get up out my face with that. What I mean is this, and I'm as serious as can be, no meme, no troll, no /s:

Think about it this way- how do you "win" a "game" of life? A game being something like... You're in a fight with your best friend, you suspect your s/o is cheating on you (shoutout relationshipadvice, buncha crazy college kids LARPing as yuppies, amirite?), your boss obviously doesn't like you and is keeping you from a promotion, you think your landlord is a common street hustler, etc.?

You win these situations with only one single cure-all strategy. EVERY tiny, little, minuscule decision or action you make MUST be guided by ALL of the following, simultaneously:

  1. Who they are. Chad and Stacey? Sweatlord McGillicuddy? Karen McBoomerson? Creepy Stoner Uncle Dave?
  2. What have they done in the past; what does their code of morals look like?
  3. What kind of external stressors are they currently inflicting on you, what's the flavor of the day with the moody douchebag at hand?
  4. How many PERTINENT/RELEVANT secrets/bits of information do you believe they're hiding/omitting/withholding from you?
  5. If you do nothing about their garbo-level behavior, then for how long, realistically, can they keep this shit up?

NOW READ THAT BACK TO ME IN TCG TERMS, ttv/AceMcNastyUSAKlaus!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1!11!!!1!!!1!!!11!11!11
*cheesy budget 70's film time travel/rewind sounds and visual effects *BETTER YET!!!* *Toki, Time-Tinker sfx and backwards-running clock visual effect*

You win a game of hearthstone with only one single cure-all strategy. EVERY tiny, little card hover, card grab, minion placement, order of cards played, minions traded and faced, or emote button hit must be guided by all of the following, simultaneously:
  1. What class are they playing?
  2. What have the past turns looked like/what mulligans did they keep/throw?
  3. What does their board look like?
  4. How many cards are in their hand? What could they be (use an HSReplay-type client to see how long they've held on to each card).
  5. How many cards are left in their deck? Did they use all of their assets to assemble a board or a hand?

So yeah, that's why TCGs are so timeless. The game of life embodied in a pastime/hobby.

Welp friends, it looks like I'm off to Twitter to try to roll with the momentum of this momentous accomplishment for a couple of weeks- I'll put all my links below, and will be trading follow4follow on all of my social medias until further notice (I will NOT shark you if you're willing to trade a follow with me).

If you see me around the beautiful land of Azeroth as we all explore its many Hearthstone Taverns, be sure to say hello! I look forward to many more years being a part of this community with you.

As always, thanks for coming to my TED talk!

2020.10.23 20:25 ghostfacekyle Music Discussion Thread - 10/23/20

What up big heads, got another music thread for you. As always spotify paylist below has everything posted here.
BarstoolSports spotify playlist

NEW RELEASES:
"The ones who hate me the most look just like me" is a fucking hilarious line. Slightly bummed we didn't get a verse from Tyler Herro but still a crazy smooth track with boi-1da production.
FINALLY a song that doesn't just sound like Soupy whining over some slow guitars for 3 minutes. This one is released in celebration of the 10 year anniversary The Upsides and Suburbia, so they intentionally made this in the style of those albums. Personally I would love an entire album of this style.
The feature gawd himself flipped the script and called in a goddamn all-star feature list across the entire album. With that said, this is a very coherent album overall and honestly better than I was expecting. At 25 tracks long, you could say it's a little lengthy, but I recommend at least giving one full listen to see which songs you like. My personal highlights are "Time Will Tell", "Track 6", and "Temptations".
Literally just discovered this dude this morning from the fine folks over at hiphopheads and I'm VERY in on this guy. He legitimately doesn't really have a single genre that he fits in to which is pretty awesome. He reminds me a little bit of Brockhampton almost, just because of the frenzy of sounds he's got going on. Favorite tracks are "06 Burst", "Clear Bones", and "Power Freaks".
Indie pop artist that I've been in to for the last couple years, seems like she went for a little bit of a "heavier" electronic vibe on this one. Favorite track is probably "Is That A Thing?"
I'm pretty indifferent on these guys in all honesty, but I know we got a few fans in here so wanted to make sure I threw it in.
I listened to LTJ too much in middle school/high school to not include them on this, even if I'm not totally in love with this one...
Wearing striped shirts and making music, that's what Cory Wong does...No seriously, this dude legitimately does not stop releasing music between Vulfpeck and his solo stuff. Just some good ass funk/bluesy stuff here, bunch of the songs don't even have vocals. Highlights are "Lilypad" and "Massive" feat. Joe Satriani.
More blues/blues rock for that ass. This dude just doesn't miss and is an actual wizard on the guitar. My favorite tracks are "I Didn't Think She Would Do It" and "Royal Tea".
Mentioned him a few times in here and I'll say it again, this dude deserves more attention than he's getting. Just an all around solid rapper, reminds me a bit of Joey Badass. Highlights are "Rainy Daze" and "Headed West".
After releasing practically the entire album as singles, full album is finally here. After you're done with Cory Wong, give this one a listen if you're into funk at all. Personal favorites are "3 On E" and "LAX".
70 years old and still going strong, Frampton didn't hear no bell!
The most New York song ever from the "Forty Year Old Version" movie on Netflix. Great verses all around but Nas still reigns supreme.

OTHER STUFF:
Been a little bit since I did one of these, but I went on a White Stripes kick the other day after watching my guy Jack White on SNL. Admittedly I feel like I didn't give Icky Thump enough credit when it came out other than the title track, but holy shit is this album good. Specifically, "300 M.P.H Torrential Outpour Blues" is an incredible song that I must've played 100 times in the last week. I'm going skell hunting on anyone who slanders Jack White in this thread.

That's a wrap for me, have a great weekend everyone

2019.12.14 12:18 Zhaunlouk I have a hopeless crush on this amazing (uwu) girl. But I don't wanna move on.

She's really cute and pretty. Charming and friendly. Loving and caring. She's also a Non-Catholic Christian. Basically a God-Girl. I just love everything about her.
Yes, I've confessed. Of course, she didn't reciprocate, but she appreciates me as a friend. She says she's not into guys. And no, she ain't lesbian. She's just the perfect crush material.
I've been looking up hopeless crush on the internet, and it's all about moving on. But I don't wanna move on. I wanna dwell in this amazing feeling of great infatuation.
I just wanna share this here. Get things off my chest. I'll try to improve and be a better version of myself this Christmas Break.

Nagzz's is my dad?
I know this sounds weird but its not what you think. One day I was in my high school working on my website that I created and I customised it with a bunch of things I like to do or watch. It was full of random things like Monty Python and The Holy Grail, ratchet and clank up your arsenal and a bunch of twitch and youtuber star's. Until I decided to make a post about the vrchat community and made one bout nagzz and why he is a good streamer and how he is supportive and how much of a boomer he is but 2 guys in my class noticed my post and I heard them mention in the background. "Why does he have a picture of his dad on this its so weird" when I heard then say this I froze and then face palmed thinking really you think this guy is my dad for god sake he gets called the hentai king and I had to explain that he wasn't my dad and just a twitch streamer I like to watch but being honust they still think he's my dad and I don't know why we don't even look related at all. But I have one question though nagzz if you read this and if I was your child what would you call me if u say brian I will find you and burn your cattleya body pillow.

This is the photo of nagzz I had on my website and thought was my dad 0wo
