2024.05.31 08:15 Expert-Scarcity3240 Which University is best for CS?

AOA, i am currently searching about universities best known for CS in Pakistan.
I have curently applied to FAST lahore and Islamabad through SAT, and GIKI
i wanted to apply to NUST too, but i heard its very difficult to get in, and as i have legit 0 knowledge about FSC course, i dont think so i will make it to any of their merit lists.
I am planning for applying for masters abroad (USA), so need a place where i can polish my skills, and maintain a good GPA, whilst also having a social life ( i dont want my days just to be filled with studying, i want to start a remote part time job too and have some sort of life outside uni too)

Torah is the law, Qur'an is the judgement, Democracy to collect jizya/taxes, and Sunnah is your freedom! American nukes were for India--Russian nukes were for China--impossible to use. (Nukes would complete a genocide and it is impossible to complete a genocide.) Nuclear bombs are for use at sea in a navy battle. Jewish people were Assyrian/Sumerian all along, no lineage to the identity. Germans were actually Turk-Persian-Siberian (Turkish). Beaker people were equivocal to modern Danish! Nok peoples were followers of Enoch which created the Bantu languages--same family tree (Niger-Congo). Looking for 114 countries from the 114 Surahs of the Qur'an. Christianity is a false reality. Judaism does not exist. Pagans are destroyed (Hindi is Christian). Idols are burned--you don't like superman more than your dad. Every soul submits to Islam, a word for Love.

It's general creativity, I used population ratio, population, population density, history, history of confrontation, genetics, social references, culture, sub-culture, politics, science, various forms of art when imagining a map, 9+ years of encyclopedia/Wikipedia study, KJB 13+ times cover to cover, Qur'an 35+ times, I contacted people who had status from history, 700+ changes to strategy when configuring order, I dedicated over 15 years to this project answering geopolitical changes caused by BRICS bank. I contacted the CIA, emailed governments, raised concerns locally, TRUTHFULLY lied to ALLIES when encountering possible conflicts, & no diploma to raise concern about ethics. History note: KKK was only about remembering the Philippine war.
My point is; Israel is the only country in the dunya, full of states all around the world, basically the United States of America. Muslim land has no borders, everyone is already following the law, the law begins with marriage. Judaic-Christianity lets problems transpire, bad planning, carrying on regarding relationships, & teaches there is an existential question to solve about the meaning and purpose of life (Islam) and then fights the losing battle for their ideology--which the inevitable result being humiliation/misunderstanding. There are 10 Greater Israeli Gulf States instead of 12 because 2 tribes were already settled in the Torah--because Esau giving up his inheritance is the same theory. Three state trade between Poland, USA, & Russia is so the Christianity doesn't destroy itself at the cost of everyone else. *For instance, Scandinavians will not go extinct for an already clear victory of [democracy over communism]. CMM.World & CMMTheology.org
The Great Harvest is here. Christ's Mandate for Missions and CMMTheology build strong, organic relationships globally as we worship, grow and equip together. Like Joshua and Caleb and the Apostle Paul, we see with faith what He sees in each person (to help each reach fullness), group (many streams and backgrounds in unity) and nations (sheep vs. goat nations). Our passion is to love, connect, equip and send with the simplicity, fullness, and power of the Gospel.
The Uncompromising Blissful Extravagance of His Presence! Inbox
By CMM.World CMMTheology.org - November 10, 2022
Dear Mighty One,
I see the Lord's eye upon us we discover by revelation the 'new thing' He is doing in our lives and of those of us who, beyond the present darkness, gaze into His eyes. The 'tuning fork' of Yahweh is orchestrating the sons and daughters of our living God in growing holy remnant unity to withstand as we stand with Him fearlessly in the boldness of the faith of God in this hour. Egypt is behind us, and the covenantal promises and prophetic words we have received (1 Tim. 1:18) empower us by His Holy Spirit to advance in warfare, humbly growing in the spirit of wisdom and revelation.
ļæ¼
Yesterday as I encouraged some friends, I said, 'stay in the blissful extravagance of His presence.' Today I saw in Psalm 34 His eyes are upon us in vs. 8 & 9 and v:15 about the 'uncompromisingly righteous.' We are to be holy as He is holy. That leaves no room for any more compromise or seeking to please man or the traditions of men, being free of the fear of man, the religious spirit, and any demonic activity. We are seated in heavenly places with Christ Jesus. Lord, help us understand by revelation to walk in all the authority we have been given by Jesus Christ.
Psalm 34:8-9 'O taste and see that the Lord [our God] is good! Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the man who trusts and takes refuge in Him. O fear the Lord, you His saints [revere and worship Him]! For there is no want to those who truly revere and worship Him with godly fear.'
v. 15 'The eyes of the Lord are toward the [uncompromisingly] righteous and His ears are open to their cry.'

May YOUR November be full of Thanksgiving and Praise for you and yours as YOU enjoy The Uncompromising Blissful Extravagance of His Presence!

Please pray for me as I speak tomorrow online to a crusade with 8,000 expected to attend in Pakistan. In December, I will speak at conferences in Liberia and Kenya with fellow CMM Ordained ministers Robert Bimba (Liberia), Tom Omukhobero, and Daniel and Christine Oyoko (Kenya).

We are rejoicing! We just celebrated two of our six schools' graduations on June 4th in the US and June 11th in Ecuador and we thank the Lord for all He has done in their lives and will do in this new era. We honor the faith in action of each of the seventy-eight students (in the USA and Ecuador schools this year)of all ages and from different streams and backgrounds. We thank the Lord for the hunger, perseverance and faith to finish strong. Each one encountered the Lord in fresh new ways as their hunger and perseverance in faith reaped eternal change as evidenced in their dissertations and heavenly encounters. In the last few months we have graduated 196 students from our global schools. All glory to the Lord as we enter our 16th year of offering affordable, life changing accredited degrees around the world. Each year our school is led by the Holy Spirit to go higher and deeper in excellence in academic standards and spirit-led equipping in a truly experiential, interactive, a

Prophetic Encouragement for 2022 By Jorge Parrott (all scriptures NKJV) (Graphic art by Nancy G. Daniel) Despite the impending wars, division, chaos, calamity, and deceptive controls we hear the voice of our Lord at times speaking, or roaring, or whispering, and breathing on the sons of God. Are we listening yet? Heavenā€™s roar is clear to those with an ear to hear what the Spirit of the Living God is saying. This year holds untold opportunities, many answered prayers, and the cries of many hearts if we arise to walk obediently in His fullness, not growing weary in well-doing, nor fainting in the heat of this fiery battle. Highlights Of Our Amazing Trip To The Holy Land With Chris Reed And Bart Peacher Prov. 16:9 ' A manā€™s mind plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps and makes them sure.' We are continually blessed and in awe of how the Lord breathes and moves in our lives. As we press into the high calling of Jesus Christ and we grow in intimacy and trust by faith, His love, grace, and mercy unfold in surprising ways. I had not been to Israel since 2017. So much has changed in the world since then as we see the tremendous acceleration of the times and seasons. Chaos, control, and corruption are increasing at an alarming rate. Our only hope is in Jesus Christ and His righteousness. Divine Encounters Abound As We Are Led By Holy Spirit And Make Ourselves Available Many churches are led by their pursuit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil instead of the knowledge of the Tree of Life. As we surrender fully to the Holy Spirit, we learn to walk in deep humility and attenti

When I first received the Bowie Knife, I couldn't help but be impressed with its beauty. The intricate folded Patterned Damascus steel, made with 1095 steel, truly shines. I've tested it outdoors, using it for various purposes such as cooking, skinning, and even whittling wood. The knife remains as sharp as ever, with no signs of significant wear.
One feature that stood out to me is the knife's balance and weight. This makes it versatile and convenient to use, whether I'm camping or at home. The composite handle also feels comfortable in my hands, providing a strong grip. The length of the blade is just right for a variety of tasks.
While using the knife, I noticed that it's perfect for creating a walking stick, making cutting branches much easier than with an ax. Overall, this Bowie Knife is a fantastic addition to my collection and has proven to be useful in many situations. Its artistry and craftsmanship make it a beautiful and functional item that I'm proud to own.

Imagine cutting through the dense underbrush, your hands steady and sure as you guide the Marbles Stag Bowie Fixed Blade Knife through the foliage. This beauty is a sight to behold, with its impressive 15-inch satin finish stainless bowie blade that's perfect for any task, and the contrasting stag handle that adds a touch of elegance.
As you hold it, you can't help but appreciate the added protection of the brass guard and pommel. And, when not in use, it safely rests in its brown leather belt sheath - a thoughtful addition to keep you and your knife safe. But don't be fooled by its small size; this little guy packs a punch, making it an indispensable tool for your everyday adventures.

šŸ”—VFD52 Walnut Damascus Bowie Knife by Valley Forge

https://preview.redd.it/6vskye8y9w2d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ae68f900c13d4925207ff87287565a43d6c86824
Imagine using the Frost VFD52 Bowie Damascus Walnut as your trusted companion in your daily life. Its 15-inch overall length and 8.5-inch Damascus steel bowie blade make it a versatile tool for various tasks. The walnut handle not only provides a comfortable grip, but also adds a touch of elegance to the knife. The brass guard and pommel add durability and style, while the brass star handle inlay on the handle adds a unique touch. The brown leather belt sheath keeps the knife safe and secure when not in use.
Although this product is made in Pakistan, it delivers the quality and craftsmanship that one would expect from a Valley Forge knife. The 21.59cm Damascus steel bowie blade is perfect for your everyday needs, and the walnut handle is a beautiful addition to your collection. However, it might not be the best choice for those who prefer a lighter knife or a different handle material. Overall, the Frost VFD52 Bowie Damascus Walnut is a great investment for anyone who loves the classic, yet elegant design of a Bowie knife.

šŸ”—Staunch Carbon Bowie Knife for Survival

https://preview.redd.it/ri21e3ly9w2d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8de52b7e243c36bf7b2fc5faa5e14e53053b3ccd
This Bowie Bushman 95BBUSK has been a great addition to my outdoor tool collection. The robust construction of this knife is evident in its ability to withstand the rigors of nature. The continuous curved blade is perfect for everyday tasks like cutting branches and slicing through meat, while the strong SK-5 carbon steel used in the blade ensures durability and sharpness.
However, I have experienced a couple of drawbacks. The hollow handle can be quite noisy when I'm sawing through larger pieces of wood, and the weight has made it a bit challenging to hold onto during rough usage. I also found the sheath to be a bit too loose, requiring a bit of modification to secure it properly.
Overall, the Cold Steel Bowie Bushman 95BBUSK has been a reliable and versatile tool for my adventures, despite the minor drawbacks. If you're looking for a strong, durable knife for a variety of outdoor tasks, this could be the perfect choice for you.

šŸ”—High-Carbon Steel Drop Forged Bowie Knife with Secure Sheath

I recently had the pleasure of testing out the Cold Steel 36MK Drop Forged Bowie, and let me tell you, it was quite an experience. The knife is exceptionally well-balanced, making it a joy to hold and use. One of the standout features of this blade is its polished clip point. It's perfect for a variety of tasks, from slicing through cardboard to sharp-edged cuts on hard materials.
Now, this knife isn't without its drawbacks. The handle, while comfortable to grip, has a tendency to look and feel like an imitation of something else. It would be great if the scales were made from more high-quality materials.
Overall, the Cold Steel 36MK Drop Forged Bowie is a formidable blade that excels in both balance and performance. Its unique design sets it apart from other knives in the market, and its versatility is impressive. Although it has a few minor drawbacks, the pros far outweigh the cons, making it a solid choice for anyone in the market for a dependable and sharp fixed-blade knife.

Imagine the pride you'd feel as you unbox this Damascus Stag Bowie fixed blade hunting knife. I've had the pleasure of using it, and it's not just a sturdy tool - it's a masterpiece. The 260 layers of pattern-welded Damascus steel in the blade give it an unmatched sheen, while the stag handle adds a touch of rustic elegance.
The brass pommel and guard add a touch of luxury, making this knife feel like a piece of art in your hand. And don't forget about the genuine leather sheath, which protects this beauty and keeps it close at all times. It's not just a utility knife, but a work of art that you'll be proud to wield in the wild.
But remember, this knife isn't just for show. It's a beast that can handle whatever you throw at it. The 7.25-inch blade is sharp and reliable, so you can count on it to get the job done. Sure, it might be a bit heavy for some, but for those who appreciate a knife that means business, this is the real deal.
Overall, this knife is a perfect blend of style and substance. It's a conversation starter, a tool, and a status symbol all in one. If you're looking for a hunting knife that turns heads and gets the job done, this Damascus Stag Bowie fixed blade is the one you've been waiting for.

šŸ”—Historic Bowie Hunting Knife with Gut Hook

https://preview.redd.it/68x9lcvz9w2d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a1699bcfca550526fe5d4348b0e38f3bcb275a23
The Bowie Hunting Knife in my hand felt like a piece of history come to life. The Damascus steel blade, with its mesmerizing 352 layers, gave it an aura of prestige that I hadn't experienced before.
As I went on a hunting trip, the gut hook turned out to be a lifesaver when it came to skinning game. Its design allowed for easy cleaning and reduced waste. While the knife was beautiful, it also felt a bit heavy for long treks.
However, after testing it, the tradeoff was well worth it when it came to cutting through tough hides. Overall, owning this knife felt like a nod to tradition, and I couldn't be more proud to wield it in the wild.

šŸ”—Sharpened High Carbon Steel Bone Handle Bowie Knife

https://preview.redd.it/1vb2uo60aw2d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0e3efc9c80d6ee8f7ce85c8a23d8992c5dd88938
In my hands, the Windlass Bowie Knife felt like a sliver of history, transporting me back to the pioneer days. The overall weight of this large knife was surprisingly manageable, weighing just a mere 1.5 pounds. The blade, sharpened to a razor's edge, boasted a needle-like point and a width of 2.38 inches, perfect for slicing through thick branches and materials. The 5.25-inch hardwood handle, coupled with the 4.375-inch brass guard, provided a comfortable grip, and the brass strip on the spine acted as a handy safety mechanism during parries.
While the aesthetic of this Bowie was undeniably impressive, I couldn't help but feel concerned about the strength of the tang connecting it to the blade. However, this concern seemed to be a trade-off for the knife's historical accuracy and charming appearance. The product did appear more prone to rust than other Windlass offerings, but this hasn't hindered the knife's performance in my hands.
Despite its larger size and potential drawbacks, the Windlass Bowie Knife remains a reliable and striking addition to my collection. With a price point that's favorable, this "Iron Mistress" holds its own against more expensive knives and provides a unique, nostalgic aesthetic that sets it apart from other Bowie models on the market.

šŸ”—Black Bear Bowie Tactical Machete - Versatile Outdoor Knife

https://preview.redd.it/4bpqwsi0aw2d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=833c8c6159e33f1a8c075b62bcf6543e1f39a4f6

I recently had the opportunity to try out the Black Bear Bowie from Cold Steel, and let me tell you - it didn't disappoint. The matte-black corrosion-resistant finish on the extra-wide 13-inch blade gave it a sophisticated, yet rugged, look. The generous full tang and solid steel guard, both injection over-molded with fin-textured high-impact Polypropylene, made it feel robust and secure in my hand.
The weatherproof grip was another impressive feature - perfect for keeping a steady hold even in the toughest conditions. I also appreciated how fast and lively the Bowie felt in my hand, making it a joy to use. The sturdy Core-Ex sheath provided a convenient way to carry the knife around, easily accessible when I needed it.
While I enjoyed using the Black Bear Bowie, there were a couple areas where it could improve. The blade was a bit thicker than I had anticipated, making it a bit more difficult to maneuver in tight spaces. Additionally, the weight of the knife was noticeable after carrying it for extended periods, although I must admit that's not a deal-breaker for me.
Overall, the Cold Steel Black Bear Bowie was a quality tactical machete that served me well in various tasks, from camping to cutting brush. For the price, it's hard to beat this versatile and reliable tool.

šŸ”—Classic Crocodile Dundee Bowie Knife with Satin Finish

I spent some time with the Frost Buffalo Bowie, a sturdy and striking knife that's reminiscent of Crocodile Dundee's infamous weapon. Its sleek satin finish stainless blade, measuring 5.5 inches, shimmers in the sunlight ā€“ perfect for those sunny days. I found the Buffalo horn handle to be grippy and comfortable to hold, making it an ideal companion for various outdoor activities. The brass guard and pommel provide both protection and style, enhancing the overall aesthetic of the knife. The brown leather belt sheath is a thoughtful addition, ensuring this knife is secure and safe when it's not in use.
While I appreciated the craftsmanship and durability of the Frost Buffalo Bowie, its 9.5-inch overall length might be a bit bulky for casual use. Nonetheless, the Frost BKH830BH Buffalo Bowie is a reliable and striking tool that adds some flair to your backpack or outdoor adventures.

šŸ”—Tactical Bowie Knife with Black Synthetic Rubber Handle

Imagine being in the wilderness and needing a reliable knife to help you navigate the terrain. That's where the SOG Tech Bowie comes in handy. I've been using this knife for quite some time, and let me tell you, it's a workhorse! The 6.4-inch AUS-8 blade is both sharp and durable, making it perfect for various tasks. The hardcased black TiNi coating ensures corrosion resistance, which is crucial in an unpredictable environment.
One of the most impressive features is the tactile Kraton rubber handle. It provides a sure grip, even in wet or slippery conditions, ensuring that the knife is always in control. The included Kydex belt sheath is another great addition, keeping the knife secure and easy to access when needed. It's not too heavy, weighing in at 10.6 ounces, making it comfortable to carry on hikes or walks.
The knife has held up well over time, and I've never had any complaints. However, there is one area that could be improved: the snap strap on the sheath. It tends to fray and weaken over time, making it less reliable. I would suggest SOG consider using a different material for this part to ensure longevity.
In conclusion, the SOG Tech Bowie is an excellent knife for outdoor enthusiasts. Its durability, sharpness, and reliable grip make it a go-to tool in the wilderness. While there's room for improvement with the snap strap, overall, it's a fantastic addition to any camping or hiking gear.

Thank you for praying for CMM and all your fellow CMM Global Family worldwide. Pray for all the missionaries, schools, and students in CMM College of Theology in the US, Ecuador, Canada, Cuba, Myanmar, Nigeria, and Thailand.
Pray for the new wells and the living water and safe water recently drilled or soon to be drilled in Tanzania, India, Malawi, and Pakistan.
Pray for our upcoming Christmas gift campaigns to bless children and youth in many nations. Many of them are precious, beautiful children (orphans). As the Lord leads, pray about giving any amount to bless dear CMM children this Christmas. https://cmmworld.kindful.com/
Pray for each other, dear friends. We all know we each need prayers going up to Heaven for all those on the front lines. We each are on the front lines!
We are working on plans and trips for 2023. If you would like to have some of our awesome CMM family speakers for a conference in your area or would like to join or lead a missions trip, we would love to hook you up with dear friends in many nations.

2024.05.18 21:52 ComputerMelodic452 What makes Israel a colonial occupation?

Dear Redditors,
Iā€™m a Jewish person who suffers from constant harassment of the antisemitism inspired by the new liberal wave of ā€œsupport Hamas, hate Jewsā€ from the backlash of the Israel war on terrorism
And Iā€™m just wondering why is Israel a colonial occupation? What makes a country a colonial nation?
Israel has no colonies? The people migrated there (not invaded) from not one country, but around the world. Is every country with migration a colonialist occupation? Can you find a way to keep being antisemitic without being xenophobic?
So why is Israel a colonial country? What makes it a colonial country, and is there a definition you could give me of this rather flimsy liberal excuse for antisemitism
These are a list of countries which I am curious, redditors, are they colonial occupations?
ā€¢ Ireland - Their people migrated from Egypt and conquered the land.
ā€¢ Iceland - The Norsemen migrated here from mainland Scandinavia. No indigenous population.
ā€¢ Pakistan - Didnā€™t exist before Britain ruled the Indian subcontinent
ā€¢ Liberia - Formed by freed American Slaves and not a part of any European power.
ā€¢ Turkey - All land owned by the Turkish people was owned by the byzantines (Greeks)
ā€¢ America? - America is an ex-colony that got freedom after revolting against a European power.
ā€¢ Vietnam??? - Vietnam, just like America, is an ex-colony that got its freedom after revolting against another European power.
ā€¢ Poland - The people of Poland left their country or were displaced for over a century, and then returned after a polish country was re-established by means of war (WW1)
ā€¢ Palestine - Never historically existing as an independent country.
(Just want to say that this post isnā€™t condemning the Palestinian people or their plight as all people suffer in war. Iā€™m just trying to get a gauge on the stupid anti-Semitic arguments.)
I do not like racism, anti-semitism, or terrorist organisations. I hope you people feel the same way.

Hi (F) . I got admission in Business Administration in NUST islamabad , which is one of the best institutions in the country . Now here i have two options , i can either complete my full bachelors degree from pakistan and then go for masters to Germany or do one year from here (13 years of education) and complete my bachelors from germany. Here are the pros and other factors to consider:
Pros of staying in pakistan for bachelors: -It's the best university this country has to offer. -Since i havent ever lived by myself , I'll gain social skills while living among people of my own country. -I plan to do a minor in some field , which i dont know will be possible in Germany. -I have many internship opportunities here for 3rd and 4rth year. -I also plan to do some undergrad exchange programs to gain exposure since this uni has many affiliations with unis abroad. -I wont have to work here in pakistan and can spend more time focusing on studies and other activities (there are many societies in the uni ). -Won't have to submit the block account amount and the expenditure will be relatively low . -food and housing are all provided by the university dormitory. -Less struggle overall and more in my comfort zone.
Pros of doing my bachelors in Germany: -Exposure and skill polishing and personality grooming. -Work experience -independence and better education -More future opportunities -possibly get a permanent residency , if i stay for masters too - more freedom since its a better country overall. -will have to figure out my own housing and food.
Now the biggest con i see is first , i will have to work alongside my degree in germany which can get tough and second, even though i can adjust relatively easy (i have many international friends) , i still am anxious about the people in germany and if its the right desicion. The language aint a issue cause i can reach german proficiency of atleast B1 (ill try B2) , in a year. Convincing my parents will be a bit of a hard part as well, but i want honest opinion about what is better.

Hi , I'm a 17F from pakistan .
-I plan to do a minor in AI or some other field , which i dont know will be possible in Germany.

2024.05.18 03:27 Yushaalmuhajir Anyone else here collect antiques or know someone who collects antiques?

So I love history and antiques and actively search for them here for decoration and historical/learning purposes.
I found a pair of binoculars handmade in Scotland in the 1830ā€™s for like 3000 rupees in an antique bazaar on the wall with a bunch of modern and more expensive ones. I have terrible vision but could see perfectly without glasses through them and most optics get foggy over time but these were as if they were brand new. Only bad thing is someone tried to shine it up and used a wire brush to do it (guys, never use steel brushes on steel or brass, and unless itā€™s actual rust, leave it alone, antique collectors prefer patina to polished pieces, polishing it up actually kills the value, especially with coins, toning on silver is actually desirable oddly enough).
Still looking for an old original British India flag (made before 1947). I love the old colonial stuff and itā€™s an important part of Pakistanā€™s heritage. Old coins also, find quite a bit of them and some silver ones too in junk bins back home in the US. Iā€™m obsessed with the old colonial coinage because thereā€™s so much variety because princely states issued their own coins. Even found one with Edward VIIIā€™s name on it (British king for a few months who abdicated and let his brother take the throne so he could marry a divorcee, only some colonial coins with his name in either Africa or here were made, none ever got issued in the UK). My silver coin collection in the US is full of sterling rupees that Iā€™ve gotten for below melt value and even some rare ones from princely states. Try to find this stuff here too but everyone here knows what they have, flea markets in the US just have cans full of foreign coins for like 50 cents a piece or 3 for a dollar and occasionally a silver coin gets through and lots of the colonial coins made it to the US as souvenirs from WWII veterans.
Also got a science book from a university in Calcutta printed in Calcutta as well. It was from the 1800ā€™s and I think I paid like 500 rupees for it at a book fair. Has a signature from an English name in it and a date of 1919.
I keep my US collection separate from my Pakistan collection since I donā€™t think itā€™s right taking cultural heritage out of the country it was made in or has ties to. Plus I collect World War 2 and before guns in the US and obviously canā€™t bring them here. For the US one, my goal is to one day own a real Ottoman Mauser rifle that was never Turkish rearsenaled (ridiculously rare and usually only found in the UK or commonwealth). For my Pakistani collection, a real antique British Raj flag is my goal (anyone here know if itā€™s even possible to find one or has anyone ever seen a real one privately owned?).

2024.05.16 07:39 ravedeath1917 Nationalism and Socialism, Paul Mattick (1959)

https://www.marxists.org/archive/mattick-paul/1959/09/nationalism.htm
At the base of the current national aspirations and imperialist rivalries lies the actual need for world-wide organization of production and distribution beneficial to humanity as a whole. First, as the geologist K. F. Mather has pointed out, because ā€œthe earth is far better adapted for occupation by men organized on a world-wide scale, with maximum opportunity for free exchange of raw materials and finished products the world around, than by men who insist upon building barriers between regions even so inclusive as a large nation or an entire continent.ā€ Second, because social production can be fully developed and can free human society from want and misery only by international cooperation without regard to particularistic national interests. The compelling interdependency implied in further progressive industrial development if not accepted and utilized for Human ends, asserts itself as a never-ending struggle between nations and for imperialist control.
The inability to achieve on an international scale what has been achieved, or is in the process of being achieved, on the national level-partial or complete elimination of capital competition-permits the continuation of class antagonisms in all countries despite the elimination or restriction of private capital formation. To state it the other way around: because nationalization of capital leaves class relations intact, there is no way of escaping competition on the international scene. Just as control over the means of production assures the maintenance of class divisions, so does control over the national state, which includes control over its means of production. The defense of the nation and its growing strength becomes the defense and reproduction of new ruling groups. The ā€œlove for the socialist fatherlandā€ in Communist countries, the desire for a ā€œstake in the country,ā€ as exemplified in the existence of ā€œsocialistā€ governments in welfare-economies, as well as national self-determination in hitherto dominated countries, signifies the existence and rise of new ruling classes bound to the existence of the national state.
WHILE a positive attitude toward nationalism betrays a lack of interest in socialism, the socialist position on nationalism is obviously ineffective in countries fighting for national existence as well as in those countries oppressing other nations. If only by default, a consistent anti-nationalist position seems to support imperialism. However, imperialism functions for reasons of its own, quite independently of socialist attitudes toward nationalism. Furthermore, socialists are not required for the launching of struggles for national autonomy as the various ā€œliberationā€ movements in the wake of the second World War have shown. Contrary to earlier expectations, nationalism could not be utilized to further socialist aims, nor was it a successful strategy to hasten the demise of capitalism. On the contrary, nationalism destroyed socialism by using it for nationalist ends.
It is not the function of socialism to support nationalism, even though the latter battles imperialism. But to fight imperialism without simultaneously discouraging nationalism means to fight some imperialists and to support others, for nationalism is necessarily imperialist ā€“ or illusory. To support Arab nationalism is to oppose Jewish nationalism, and to support the latter is to fight the former, for it is not possible to support nationalism without also supporting national rivalries, imperialism, and war. To be a good Indian nationalist is to combat Pakistan; to be a true Pakistani is to despise India. Both these newly ā€œliberatedā€ nations are readying themselves to fight over disputed territory and subject their development to the double distortion of capitalist war economies.
And so it goes on: the ā€œliberationā€ of Cyprus from British rule only tends to open a new struggle for Cyprus between Greeks and Turks and does not lift Western control from either Turkey or Greece. Polandā€™s ā€œliberationā€ from Russian rule may well spell war with Germany for the ā€œliberationā€ of German provinces now ruled by Poland and this, again, to new Polish struggles for the ā€œliberationā€ of territory lost to Germany. Real national independence of Czechoslovakia would, no doubt, reopen the fight for the Sudetenland and this, in turn, the struggle for Czechoslovakiaā€™s independence and perhaps for that of the Slovaks from the Czechs. With whom to side? With the Algerians against the French? With the Jews? With the Arabs? With both? Where shall the Jews go to make room for the Arabs? What shall the Arab refugees do to cease being a ā€œnuisanceā€ to the Jews? What to do with a million French ā€œcolonsā€ who face, when Algerian liberation is accomplished, expropriation and expulsion? Such questions can be raised with reference to every part of the world, and will generally be answered by Jews siding with Jews, Arabs with Arabs, Algerians with Algerians, French with French, Poles with Poles and so forth-and thus they will remain unanswered and unanswerable. However Utopian the quest for international solidarity may appear in this melee of national and imperialist antagonisms, no other road seems open to escape fratricidal struggles and to attain a rational world society.
ALTHOUGH socialists sympathies are with the oppressed, they relate not to emerging nationalism but to the particular plight of twice-oppressed people who face both a native and foreign ruling class. Their national aspirations are in part ā€œsocialistā€ aspirations, as they include the illusory hope of impoverished populations that they can improve their conditions through national independence. Yet national self-determination has not emancipated the laboring classes in the advanced nations. It will not do so now in Asia and Africa. National revolutions, as in Algeria for instance, promise little for the lower classes save indulging on more equal terms in national prejudices. No doubt, this means something to the Algerians, who have suffered from a particularly arrogant colonial system. But the possible results of Algerian independence are deducible from those in Tunisia and Morocco, where existing social relations have not been changed and the conditions of the exploited classes have not improved to any significant extent.
Unless socialism is altogether a mirage, it will rise again as an international movement-or not at all. In any case, and on the basis of past experience, those interested in the rebirth of socialism must stress its internationalism most of all. While it is impossible for a socialist to become a nationalist, he is nevertheless an anti-colonialist and anti-imperialist. However, his fight against colonialism does not imply adherence to the principle of national self-determination, but expresses his desire for a non-exploitative, international socialist society. While socialists cannot identify themselves with national struggles, they can as socialists oppose both nationalism and imperialism. For example, it is not the function of French socialists to fight for Algerian independence but to turn France into a socialist society. And though struggles to this end would undoubtedly aid the liberation movement in Algeria and elsewhere, this would be a by-product of and not the reason for the socialist fight against nationalist imperialism. At the next stage, Algeria would have to be ā€œde-nationalizedā€ and integrated into an international socialist world.
