I enjoyed Furiosa, maybe not as much as the other people who saw it, but I appreciate it as a film that goes for a full high-risk swing. With such a risky bet, the box office failure of Furiosa is not the most surprising thing. More tragic is that its box office failure doomed Miller's chance to make an actual Mad Max movie: Mad Max: The Wasteland.
The box-office failure has nothing to do with people not going to the theater because life is too hard or streaming is ruining the theater (Dune Part 2 and Kngdom of the Planet of the Apes were successes), or how people don't go to see the female lead action films (Wonder Woman?), or the movie being "woke" (Fury Road had way more progressive and feminist themes). Outside of the movie buff bubble, the box-office flop was obvious.
During Fury Road's production, George Miller envisioned a Furiosa prequel not as a live-action movie, but as an anime, spearheaded by the ex-Ghibli animators. Here are the concept arts by Mahiro Maeda. This didn't go through, and George Miller decided to take the project to a cinematic live-action feature film, but in retrospect, I do think he should have just gone for not just the animated medium, but the TV animated series route.
The case for the CGI animation:
You may have forgotten that before Fury Road George Miller has a history of directing two CGI-animated movies with the Happy Feet franchise. He was originally going to make Fury Road first, but the production conflicts pushed him to shelve it to make Happy Feet movies. Miller learned a lot of visual techniques during his tenure in pioneering digital animations and applied them to Fury Road, so the animation is not that much of a crazy idea to apply to the Mad Max franchise.
What's more, the animated medium doesn't have the same downsides the final film suffered from. Fake-looking visual effects? Obvious greenscreen? Hyperexaggerated grindhouse aesthetics? Mad Max's colorful and fantastic heavy metal/rock album cover-inspired aesthetics fit perfectly with what the Spider-verse movies and Arcane have innovated with their comic-book-like hyper-stylized style.
A $168 million budget? Across the Spider-verse took $110 million to make, and Arcane took $90 million. That already sets lower financial expectations from the executives. It allows Miller to avoid the infamous difficult filming problems he suffered from making Furiosa.
The casting is no longer a problem. Miller went out to digitally change Alyla Browne's face and morph her into Anya Taylor-Joy throughout the movie, and this is not a problem if the characters are animated. The audience would be more willing to accept it as a spin-off since the medium is different. People didn't get confused if the Spider-verse movies were the mainline entries to the MCU as they did with the Sony live-action Spider-Man movies. All these problems would be solved if Furiosa was an animated work.

The story is already divided into five chapters, with chapter cards, and each one is like its own short story of "this happens, then that happens". It's episodic as Furiosa kind of lives her life rather than hyper-focusing on one goal throughout the story. This acclimates to a two-and-a-half-hour runtime due to its huge story scope and focus on worldbuilding. There is a much greater focus on how the factions, politics, and systems work within this world, which is the reason why the pacing often gets bogged down. The large swath of the movie has Furiosa barely is active and the plot is moved forward by the other characters because the story sidetracks from her revenge journey, like fleshing out Immortan Joe's reign, how Dementus rules his men, the power struggles, who controls what...

This medium thrives in a looser introspective character drama with several time-jumps in the passage of time more than a feature film, which tends to work better in a urgently contained and short time span. Suddenly, Dementus's army is scattered--making it easier for Furiosa to take them down, which is why the third act action set piece is a bit unsatisfying. My assumption is that the filmmakers had to cut it to fit the story into the feature film length, and if this is a TV series, you have a liberty to expand all these story threads you want.
Also, George Miller has a history of making nine TV series. He created a sizable body of TV productions throughout the 80s and 90s, like the six-part series The Dismissal (1983), the seven-part series Bodyline (1984), the six-part series The Cowra Breakout (1984), the ten-part series Vietnam (1987) (responsible for making Nicole Kidman's stardom), the three-part series Bangkok Hilton (1989), and the five-part series The Dirtwater Dynasty (1989). They were huge rating successes and resembled the big-budget movies than normal Aussie TV shows. Various IPs are moving to the streaming service in the current industry, and WB's HBO Max is already famous for making "prestige blockbuster TV". Would it be out of the ordinary if Mad Max is also one of those IPs to try the TV medium?
It is also notable that TV tends to see more success with the genres Furiosa tackles. In the case of the post-apocalypse genre, HBO's The Last of Us and Amazon's Fallout were big recent hits--both stories partially inspired by Mad Max. The prequel character origin stories also have a better chance at succeeding, such as Better Call Saul, Andor, Bates Motel, and Hannibal--they are all side character prequel origin shows. The TV's lengthy format allows for the showrunners to delve deep into the characterization, mythos, and worldbuilding, whereas the audience will feel the length and grueling pacing of a feature film.
It also helps that the TV streaming series affords to be more niche about its demographics. The spin-off shows of popular IPs are pretty much everywhere, and the executives tend to be more patient about the long-term growth of their services than the instant financial successes of individual shows. The shows like X-Men '97, Castlevania, and Cyberpunk Edgerunners are as niche as they can get and would have been flops if they were released in the theater. They only exist because they were streaming shows.
If George Miller put out Furiosa as an experimental animated TV miniseries side project aimed to build up the hype for the actual sequel, Mad Max: The Wasteland, I think it would have seen more success, both financially and critically. As he did with Happy Feet building up to Fury Road, it could have been sort of a "heat check" type learning experience for his next Mad Max project. Even if it financially flops, it is still a side gig for the TV that flopped, and Miller would still have a greater chance for him to make an actual official Mad Max sequel for the theater.

- WB granted George Miller $168 million to make an R-rated origin story for a secondary character from a mildly successful movie a decade ago... Post-apocalypse is not a popular movie genre. The Mad Max series itself was cult movies only the movie buffs knew about. Remember how people got frustrated that more people were watching Pitch Perfect 2 than Fury Road? Or how the video game was a flop? Normal moviegoers might have heard about it, but not many have actually watched the movies, and even fewer care about George Miller. Then Furiosa is a Mad Max movie without Mad Max, so success was not guaranteed even if it came out just a few years after Fury Road, but it's been nine years and a prequel backstory movie. The audience barely even remembers what Mad Max is, let alone Furiosa. Just to remind you, even Solo: A Star Wars Story bombed, and everyone knows who Han Solo is, so in what universe could Furiosa succeed? The financially successful prequel movies tend to focus on the "iconic events" rather than the characters, like Rogue One, which appealed to people because it has the nostalgia power of the Death Star and the Rebels versus Empire angle behind it. People remember all the iconic imagery from A New Hope. Furiosa does not have the same appeal.
- Another thing is that the audience tends to want a sequel for an "official" entry when they go to the theater. In the case of Mad Max, the series has always been episodic rather than caring much about the lore or continuity. Even if the series was not about Max's character, most people wouldn't care about the continuity or backstory of the secondary character they don't know or hear of. The small few who were into Mad Max wanted to see the next Mad Max movie--what would happen next to Max as he ventures the different part of the wasteland--rather than going back to show a not-as-central Furiosa's backstory that lands us right at the start of the movie we've already seen.
- Fury Road was a relentless, contained, immediate, high-octane theme park ride. That movie was a coke-filled bombast. You cannot follow that movie with a dark, bleak, and depressing character study spin-off about how a slave became a slave. It is a period piece that spans fifteen years, jumping between many different points of Furiosa's life. There is no "one central goal" that unifies all the story parts. The pacing is lengthy and leisurely, and the action is sparse. Most Hollywood action movies don't do that. This is not a movie families can come together to watch. Fury Road could advertise itself as "this entire film is one long car chase". How could you advertise Furiosa when the entire premise is not a compelling tie that appeals to the normal audience?
- The visual effects looked fake and digital since the trailers and the final movie didn't really improve them. I eventually got over them since the visuals are so stylized and creative that it didn't matter as I did with RRR, but the normal audience will never accept the campy grindhouse B-movie aesthetics. Fury Road had a similar style, but it had way more of a natural and practical look compared to Furiosa's, which lacks grits and weight.
- The last thing of it is that any recasting is going to be jarring and alienating no matter what. It can work if the age gap in the prequel is significant enough, like Wonka and X-Men, but the gap between age 26 (ATJ) and 39 (Theron) is not as significant. Also, compared to Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron's stardom when Fury Road was released, Anya Taylor-Joy is not a massive star and has never opened a movie in her own right. She has always been known for art-house flicks and modeling but has no history in blockbusters. She did a good job at portraying a younger Furiosa, but most people still agree she was unable to sell her presence quite well as Charlize Theron. The second main attraction, Chris Hemsworth, has struggled outside of Thor.

Damn the action on this thing is absolutely nuts, it shoots out like a rocket. Blade has been resharpened by myself on my Worksharp fixed angle. It took a good 17% angle and I finished it off with a decent mirror polish. I included a video of the sharpness. No blemishes or scratches on the handle or blade. Feels amazing in the hand.

This is a theory I have regarding the reason why all pagan gods, apart from the ones of Norse Mythology, were absent during Infinity Saga.
First of all, I have to admit that this might seem more like a pitch than a theory, but, since my biggest problem with the MCU is that it doesn't feel like a connected shared universe anymore, I want to think that there is a deeper lore that can connect everything, including X-Men, Multiverse, supernatural heroes and street level heroes, filling some very sloppy plot holes, like the existence of all pagan gods all along.
Let's start with Thor: Ragnarok, where we saw a replica of Infinity Gauntlet, dismissed as a fake by Hela. But, what if it wasn't really fake and the Infinity Stones have been used once more in the past?
My theory takes place in Ancient Egypt, where a variant of Kang has come from the future and rules over Egypt by the name of Pharaoh Ramah Tut. In reality, Ramah Tut has chosen this particular point in time with the secret mission to eliminate the first mutant, El Sabah Nur (a.k.a. Apocalypse) and prevent the existence of mutants.
The mission is complete, Apocalypse is killed, but Ramah Tut realizes there is one more mutant to be eliminated, whom he tracks using future tech. The one remaining mutant is revealed to be Firehair, known from the comics as the first mutant to be bonded with the Phoenix.
Ramah Tut's actions enrage the Egyptian Gods and they pick a desperate fight with Ramah Tut, but in the end they lose and are imprisoned by Kang. Two of them, Khonshu and Bast, summon their loyal servants, Moon Knight and Black Panther. Moon Knight is assigned with the mission to gather the rest of the gods to stop Ramah Tut, while Black Panther is instructed to contact Agamotto.
Black Panther goes to the Ancient city of Kamar Taj and meets Agamotto of the Vishanti, the first Sorcerer Supreme and warns him about Ramah Tut. Agamotto realises that Ramah Tut poses a great threat to the balance of the Multiverse. Black Panther tells Agamotto that Bast overheard Ramah Tut about a mysterious woman named Firehair, whom Ramah Tut intends to kill. Agamotto tracks Firehair before Ramah Tut. Firehair says to Agamotto that she has visions of a powerful cosmic force that calls her through dreams wanting to bond with her and Agamotto realises that she is talking about Phoenix Force, the cosmic force that encompasses all life in the universe. He also wanrs Firehair that the Phoenix Force is dangerous and must never come to Earth.
In the meantime, Moon Knight calls a council of all the pagan gods and, while explaining to them about Ramah Tut's threat, the Council is interrupted and attacked by Ramah Tut's army equipped with technology from the future. Chaos reigns, and after most of the gods are captured, die, or flee, in the end only Moon Knight remains, along with Odin and Zeus. Kang's army surrounds them, but they are saved at the last minute by Ghost Rider, who teleports them, by using his demonic powers, to a place Ramah Tut cannot approach.
Moon Knight, Odin and Zeus fight Ghost Rider briefly out of mistrust. Their fight is interrupted by a bunch of, seemingly, martial artists, led by a woman who introduces herself as Fan Fei, the Iron Fist. She explains to them that they have trespassed the hidden city of K'un-Lun and they are not allowed to leave, as her prisoners.
In Kamar Taj, Agamotto, Black Panther and Firehair are attacked by Ramah Tut's army.
In K'un-Lun, Iron Fist remains adamant that she cannot release the prisoners (Odin, Zeus, M.K., G.R.), since she knows that Ghost Rider serves Mephisto, the Lord of Hell. Ghost Rider explains that he has rebelled against his former master, but he knows that Mephisto is deeply afraid of Ramah Tut and, even though he is not a servant of Hell anymore, anyone Mephisto fears must be considered an even greater threat to be dealt with. Iron Fist is reluctantly persuaded and agrees to help them against Ramah Tut.
In Kamar Taj, Black Panther, Agamotto and Firehair, along with Sorcerer's army are overwhelmed by Ramah Tut's highly advanced minions, until they are joined by Iron Fist, Ghost Rider, Moon Knight, Odin and Zeus. While they manage to turn the tide of the battle in their favor briefly, they soon realize that they still cannot win. At that moment, Agamotto realizes that their only hope is to cast a beacon spell to summon the Phoenix Force, in order to bond with Firehair. He casts the spell, using Firehair's telepathic abilities and she bonds with Phoenix Force. All the heroes perform an epic battle with Ramah Tut and destroy his army.
They surround Ramah Tut but, before delivering the final blow, Ramah Tut manages to escape by mysteriously vanishing.
The heroes form the Avengers BC. Odin falls in love with Firehair. The way I picture it, since there is so much lore building, maybe it could be a TV series called "Avengers BC" and so far we saw the first season.
We see a post-credit scene, where Ramah Tut goes to the past to meet himself ruling over Ancient Egypt to warn himself (now a variant) of the Avengers threat. He tells his variant of a plan to defeat the Avengers, but the variant does not intend to follow him as he is “destined to be a conqueror, not a servant, even to himself”. Rmah Tut says that he will go even more back to his past selves, to which his variant responds “then you’ll make even more enemies”, leading to the so called “Multiversal War” between variants of Kang.
The second season deals with Firehair's Dark Phoenix persona. Initially we see that Firehair and Odin are in a relationship and their daughter, Hella is born (since we never learned who was Hella's mother in the MCU).
While Hella grows to become a great warrior, her mother FirehaiPhoenix begins to feel trapped in the family situation and wishes to be free. This is why she starts to become unstable and thus the persona of Dark Phoenix emerges. Since they are not married, Odin makes her a romantic marriage proposal but she angrily refuses and breaks up with Odin. Even more, some time later, Odin learns that she has started to sleep occasionally with Zeus and begins to deeply hate them both. I imagine the love triangle between Firehair, Odin and Zeus as the one between Jean Grey, Cyclops and Wolverine respectively.
In the end, Dark Phoenix persona takes over completely and Agamotto gathers the Avengers BC once more. Zeus reconciles with Odin, but does not apologize and so, they all manage to defeat FirehaiDark Phoenix, with the help of a young witch named Freja (Thor’s mother, as she has said she was brought up by witches, she can be introduced as a student of Kamar Taj). Firehair dies. The team is disbanded, but they remain in history books and legends as the team of heroes that saved the Earth from Ramah Tut and Dark Phoenix. Odin is depressed and Hella is so traumatized by the bad experience with her mother and that’s why she grows up to be obsessed with killing and destruction. Odin pretends to be okay with Zeus, but in reality he begins to plan how to destroy him.
We see two post-credit scenes
When Bruce Banner snapped his fingers to make everyone come back, he also accidentally brings the gods back (remember when they say that they should be very careful with the words they are going to think or say when they are using the stones). That’s why they are present in Thor: Love and Thunder. They didn’t even know that Odin made them disappear, but after the events of Thor 4, Zeus realizes what Odin had done and wants Hercules to avenge the gods and kill Thor.
This theory could fix everything, as it can be a solid plot device to bring together the Avengers (through Black Panther), street level heroes like the Defenders (through the new Iron Fist), the Midnight Sons (through the new Ghost Rider) and the Fox' X-Men, against the imminent arrival of Kang.
And that is my theory as to how everything can be fixed in the MCU. I also have a theory for Kang’s origin and the Multiversal War, the Beyonders, the F4 etc, but, I will post it another time.

- Odin goes to meet Eitri and the Dwarves, to ask him to make him a weapon to destroy Zeus and all the other gods, since gods have agreed to make a pact together and killing each other will in no case be tolerated, which is why Odin might need a weapon to destroy them all eventually. Eitri proposes the creation of Infinity Gauntlet, but tells Odin that he’ll need the stones.
- Charles Xavier (P. Stewart) is seen talking to the X-Men about the upcoming incursion with the MCU, explaining to them that MCU reality is a branching reality from their universe (Fox’ X-Men) created by the death of Firehair and Apocalypse, leading to a universe with no mutants and that, the only hope they have in the incursion is the nexus being known as the “Scarlet Witch”.

So, here are some of the uniform options. I will focus on the characters that either don't have a relevant uniform or don't have a current comics uniform. That's why there won't be a Captain Marvel or Miss Marvel on this list — their unis are relatively new. Some characters will be missed due to their uniforms, like Captain America who wears the classic costume right now — pretty much the same he's got in the game. It is amazing, just too similar to the current one. Finally, here are some less likely uniform possibilities without any picutres, cause why not. Captain Marvel has her latest Hellfire Gala suit as a regular costume in her solo comic. Although, her movie uniform is relatively new. Miss Marvel was revealed to be a mutant and got her X-Men suit. Although, her movie uniform is relatively new. Loki appears in different forms in the latest comics, a new female look can be a great addition since three of his latest costumes are based on his Disney+ show. Although, Loki's latest uniform is relatively new. Falcon is one of the two Captains America right now and his suit doesn't look too different from the first comic based CA suit we've got. His latest uniform is also a Cap one, it is relatively new and the new movie suit is surely coming. Winter Soldier uniform is slightly more likely to appear. Bucky's latest suit in the comics is an all black look with a cape over one shoulder. We'll probably get a movie suit for Thunderbolts* release, but it's still about a year away. Hawkeye civilian uniform or a back to basics one are surely in the books. Although, the show based one is still decent. Ironheart had her signature pink suit for several years now, yet we got makeshift one from the movie instead. Although, her movie uniform is relatively new and a Disney+ show is coming in 2025. Havok has a new look for the upcoming X-Factor comic that is very similar to his classic X-Factor look. Probably the best option for a uniform. Could also be released with X-Factor Polaris. Iceman's recent look has a cleaner shape without any icicles all over and an X on the chest. Although, it may be not different enough from the base look for the devs to add it. She-Hulk will soon appear in Ultimate universe with grey skin. A possibility for sure, although her D+ show uniform is relatively new and I don't think the character is that popular. War Machine always gets back to the basic grey uniform, back to basics uni is probably due at this point. Kang comic accurate uniform with a big futuristic gun would be great, although I think Knull or Mephisto are more likely to get a uni soon amongst World Boss Legend characters. Luke Cage recently got a grey uniform with a mask. Probably won't get it since the comic it appeared wasn't very good and we probably won't see the suit in the comics anymore. Hellstorm doesn't have a uniform and he's never been a prominent character in the comics. Somehow he got a TV show, although, it was neither well written or popular. His bearded bald look from the Savage Avengers comic could be a great first uniform for the character if he gets one. Iron Man has got a new misterium armor. It's black and grey with red and golden accents. While it is the newest model of the armor, it doesn't stand out and will probably be just another armor in his arsenal. My guess, he's likely to get an older armor (Silver Centurion please) than this one. So, there's that. Which uniforms would you be interested in? UPD: added couple of potential suits. |

So I’m looking for those of you who can use third person, past tense and lots of detail. I say this not to be mean but because I do consider myself to be advanced literate, I expect potential partners to be the same! I’m looking for oc (me) x male canon characters from the above movies but I will enclose further fandoms and movies with in the post! I use third and past tense and would be grateful if you do too! Please note I do have dyslexia. I’d love to get some aus going as well as some love triangles. Doubles are welcome! But please note ALL my roleplays are doubles.
