Loaded with sarcasm and advice that most of the time comes across as unnecessary he begins to unknowingly leave a positive impact on everyone around him while simultaneously battling personal demons.
The inspiration behind this show idea comes from the highly underrated show loudermilk (which better get a season 4) with the lead actually being played by loudermilk himself Ron Livingston.
Instead of just being loudermilk set in a high school it would actually tackle very mature and serious issues that teenagers actually go through and wouldn’t shy away from sensitive topics. It would balance out drama and comedy perfectly and give a voice to the struggling youth while poking fun at the absurdity of todays world.

I've got my series planned out - it's a light series starting as a one-off drama, but not a comedy, and not fluffy, it's not dark either. Not too political. It's a family-friendly show possibly for the festive season.
It has no human antagonist - the conflict is the run-up to Christmas itself.
The show is 60 minutes long and for the UK market; been looking at some companies who accept scripts from unknowns.
The only problem is the setting - I'm looking at early 2000s, so 2002-2005 at a guess; what are major historical errors to avoid making?
2002, 2003 and 2004 were the years I was thinking of but haven't set it in stone when.
However, it takes place in the festive season of one of them.
It needs to feel like a period piece, but also, it's not a historical drama, the 2000s is just the setting.
The setting is a realistic universe - so no sci-fi/fantasy, it's relatable.
So far, it's mostly female protagonists, much like Channel 4 sitcom Hullraisers, but without the sitcom vibe.
My big problem is how far to go without taking too much liberties with real history but ensuring it feels realistic enough.
I don't know where to start for the historicla research.
I've spent more time on characters and plot than setting.
If you could help me, it's very much welcomed. New to this but enjoying the process so far learning about it.

Weekend Box Office (May 17th-19th)

The Last Frenzy back on top this weekend ending out the new release Hovering Blade which in turn edges of Twilight of the Warriors for 2nd.
Planet of the Apes records a solid 2nd weekend drop to land in 4th.
A slew of romance flicks litter the charts but none really making a significant impact.
Meanwhile The Fall Guy debuts with a dissastrous $0.71M. Below pretty much any other big budget Holywood movie in the last 2 years only really beating Madame Web which opened with $0.66M. It debuted below movies like M3GAN, Gran Turismo, TMNT:MM. Less than 1/3 of the opening weekends of flops like Indy and The Little Mermaid. Nowhere near stuff like Shazam 2 and Dungeons and Dragons.

Kingdom of the Planet scores a solid $5.28M 2nd weekend. $30M remains its target on the high end.

The scores across the board have gone down since the relese weekend. The movie's gender split has shifted a bit further towards men exceeding 60% with the split now 61-39 compared to 59-41 last week. Women have continued to rate the movie better by on average 0.2 points.
Age distribution remains balanced from the low 20's to the 40+ crowd. Ratings remain in a U shape curve with younger people and older people rating the movie higher while the late 20's early 30's have generaly rated it lower.

Hello there, friendly internet people! My name's Alex, and I'm looking to make some awesome friends with other mentally healthy, well-rounded, and energizing people who are local or close by. I'm 29, single, 5'9", around 160 lbs, white (Eastern European), and in slim fit shape. I recently moved to Land O Lakes, FL. I have no kids, live a drama-free life, and don't do drugs, smoke, or drink.

playing tennis or mini-tennis aka pickleball (would love to find consistent partners!)
scenic runs/walks (esp around lakes or parks)

listening to music (enjoy anything upbeat and exciting like pop, EDM, and classic hits. Only things I generally dislike are hardcore rap, country, and heavy metal basically)
learning new things (esp self-improvement, business, investing, tech, science, philosophy, psychology, medicine)

exercise (toned but not like 9-inch biceps lol. I run a few miles 1x a week, walk quite a bit, and then workout ~2x a week)
and then watching movies (mainly sci-fi, action, comedy. esp like deep ones that make you think such as Interstellar, Inception, Limitless, etc), shows, memes, educational/funny youtube vids, etc. I love to share random things that remind me of you after getting to know you a bit.
I want our time together to help us connect/learn about each other but also both fuel up on whatever we most need to grow as people. For example, us working out together to make sure we keep each other accountable for staying active. Or maybe we had an intense week and needed some downtime by walking in a park, tennis, or something. Or working on improving each other's businesses, financial plans, etc by sharing our knowledge or strengths.
That's the kind of connection I want to strive to make! And hopefully, if YOU also started imagining scenarios and thinking something like "wow, that would be so NICE to have a connection like that!" Then you should definitely send me a message!

2024.05.19 11:18 Throwra_continents Good text to re-engage with my GF after an argument?

Been with my girlfriend almost a year and we've said "I love you" and she previously discussed potentially moving in, potential marriage, and potential kids.
After a really good day with her, I told my GF, "I'm excited about you" and she got really caught off guard, to a point where I got insecure, since it was clear she was kind of questioning our future. The way she went from giggly and cool all day to jolted and nervous from this simple romantic statement, made me actually get somber and tear up, although pretty low key and not a full cry.
When I asked vaguely, she clarified she was all in, but that she felt she didn't deserve it and she didn't want to be a burden. Which made me more insecure.
We continued the plans of the day and went to a comedy show we had tickets for. When we got back, she wanted to check in on how we're doing and I said I wanted some alone time for the night instead of staying over (although I articulated this badly and it sounded like a much longer period of time and she said "Until next weekend?" at one point which I had to clarify). I said I wanted some alone time for the night, and she said "Please don't leave me" and we both started crying due to the emotions. She wanted clarification on when communication would start again. I ended up conceding and over-explaining until I stayed an extra 30 minutes to an hour doing stuff in the kitchen. At the end of it all, I asked her if she would prefer if I stayed or left tonight, and she said she preferred I stay but respects my alone time. I then left because after all this drama I didn't want to fold instantly. I also agreed to contact her the next day.
She's going on a day trip to her family's house that takes hours to drive to. (I had learned of this well before the argument)
Last night, my GF asked me to text her when I got home safe, and I had promised to check in tomorrow too. So I wouldn't otherwise reach out so soon, but I wanted to follow my promise.
The texts went like
Me: "I got home safe. Sleep well"
Her: "I'm glad you are safe"
This morning
Me: "Hey babe, have a good morning and a good day with your folks today"
Her: "Hi good morning. Have a good time with the gym and writing."
Me: "Thanks I will, take care and we'll connect later"
At this point, I'll wait for her to reach out next, although since I was the one who created space (even if I was being pathetic, I still was the one who distanced and have a bit more license to bring it back). So I'm slightly considering having a short phone call late night before the week, even if it means a double text after 12+ hours. But probably, I'll just let it go and see if it's 1, 2 days, 3 days that it takes for her to reach out.

I'm a 24 years old. Since I was 18 I've been out in the city away from the village where my parents live, but, out of resources, I came back a year ago, a 23 years old single man with no college degree yet, and no job.
Let's get to the point: since I've been in the village, I haven't been as busy as I was in the city, so I started watching a lot of movies and series, in which I barely did in the previous chapters of my life. I started growing a love for cinema and TV over the last year, and since then, I've been dreaming of becoming an actor or a screenwriter or maybe a cameraman, but since the interest only grew since around one year ago maybe, I felt like it's too late to do anything about it, so I didn't, not even researching it.
Today I came up with an idea for a drama-comedy TV show, that we are not used to seeing in Lebanese movies or series, even maybe never ever been seen before at all, but plenty in different countries, and they have been really successful. And, I think the idea is so good it will make a splash, a big one, giving rise to new stars in the business, making lots of money, reaching a huge amount of audience and receiving good reviews. At least locally speaking, across the country.
On another note, I never had any film education in my life and I have never participated in anything related to film other than consuming, but I would really like to work on this idea, make a move.
I feel like this is a common dream for young adults. As in, Ohhh I wanna be a movie star and whatnot, but I actually feel like I would love the shit out of it, I feel like I belong on the set, maybe on screen or maybe behind the scene, but I belong there.
I want some advice on what to do here, continue with my current education, get a psychology degree and go for a masters degree, then practice psychology, which will take around 5 to 6 years and whilst practicing, get my PhD. Or shift towards the tv and film industry in which I know nothing about.
If it's film, what can I do with a TV show idea but ZERO knowledge and experience in the business.
