2024.05.20 07:43 Cpomplexmessiah A Continuation of my Perfected Game

Current situation: So i originally made post about 1 week ago asking questions related perfecting FF6. Original post here. I figured now i would give you a update on what has transpired over last week of playing and grind. I also would like to tell you my methodology to get the results i did and why some people are the way they are. So first thing is first, I am playing the 2015 Steam version (not the pixel remaster) we have just killed Kafka and now have just finished the grinding required to get the other two parties upto what i would call a Decent standard.
So when i was building these 3 parties i wanted to do in such a way that make party 1 a whirlwind of violence without detracting from the other 2 parties. I also wanted to have all 3 parties with a dedicated caster so serve as support and AOE as well as healer. All melee or none dedicated casters i have kept their known magic to a minimum. As of writing they have only learned the Magic their stat magicite / equipment has taught them and Quick. I believe quick is Mandatory on anyone that can learn it. Another thing to know is I am not a man above using game breaking glitches as suck I have abused the Terra duplication glitch for equipment.
Party 1 Lock, Terra, Edgar and Relm. I tried to stack this team to be able to get as much DPS as possible with lock easily being the forefront of that being able to casually do a total of about 80k per wave of attacks. I also wanted to keep Edgar as a Dragoon so he can dodge party ending attacks up also add a level of diversity in the offensive line up. Terra has been assigned the role of parties mom. Her job is to heal and support the party while Relm is there do a steady 50k-ish damage.
Locke Equipment: Ultima Weapon x2, Red Cap, Genji Armor, Master Scroll and Genji Gloves. I think this is the highest possible damage output in the game. Higher than any magic set up i can think of without relying on luck. The thing i like about this particular setup is disregard for the Enemies defence. I chose the red cap over the Genji because of the stat boost it offered me so i could then funnel those Levels worth of stats into something more useful. Stats focused for Maxing: STR and Speed. Rest is in Stam and HP / MP. The equipment set up has no on hit magic procs so worry about it seemed good to disregard the magic stat entilierly and focusing on making locke as fast and as damaging as possible. He truly is the all star this particular party.
Terra Equipment: x2 lightbringer, Circlet, Minerva Bustier, Genji Gloves and Celestriad I thought this is the best setup i would of for this particular set up giving her a High strength if needed and a whopping 150 magic. Her role in this party is to be there mom. Make sure that Locke and Relm can do the heavy lifting. She does not need to cast two spells per turn. She can function on 1 spell and be changed into a pretty decent master scroll set up if needed. I doubt this will be needed but i built it in Just in case the situation is needed. Stats focused for Maxing: STR, Magic. Rest in Stam and HP / MP The stats are Spread quite thin on the terra, she barley reaches 128 STR and focuses it all into Magic and Stam.
Edgar Equipment: Radiant Lance, Paladin shield, Genji Helm, Genji Armor, Dragoon Boots and Dragon horn. I spent a lot of run umming and ahhing over Holy Lance or radiant lance. In the end i chose Radiant for two main reason. The first is the minor stat buffs it gives and the second is the fact it is none elemental damage. I figured later on in the game edgar would be useless against anything that is immune or absorbs Holy damage. Additionally if they are weak to it i can always put a holy lance on and go fishing for holy procs for additional damage. Stats focused for Maxing: STR, Magic. Rest in Speed and HP / MP. I chose in this particular reason to for max STR and Magic. The strength is make those jumps worth using and 40k-ish damage seems good. Magic is there because of Flash incase i need AOE quickly. It also facilitates the on hit procs he has access to in Lightbringer and Holy lance. This is a set up in needed could easily be changed into a Genji Glove, Master Scroll set up with double lightbringer / Ragnarok / Ultima Weapon. I also like the tank this set up as with the elemental protection of Paladin shield and high defence of the armor.
Relm Equipment: Magus Rod, Paladin shield, Cat ear hood, Behemoth Suit, Soul of Thamasa and Celestriad I spent a lot of time going between Magus rod and Angel brush. I have finally settles on the Brush when i get it for now i think this is the best i can do. I realise there is a Contradiction of between the Hood and Shield, however the shields main purpose is provide a higher degree of defence and the hood is there for the stat boosts it gives. Stats focused for Maxing: Magic, Speed. Rest in Speed and HP / MP. As the secondary DPS of the party i wanted her to be fast, effective and easily be able to get those sweet 5 ultima out ASAP. like lock i tried to focus on as much Damage as possible with total disregard for the secondary offensive stat.
Party 2 Gau, Celes, Mog and Gogo This party is the Gau show. Everything about this is to get Gau Raging and keep him alive while he Rages. It also acts as a good environment for Gogo to mime. Celes is the Dedicated caster of this party she is there to Spam runic when Gau rages and heal, hatse, reraise Gau when he needs it. Mog serves as the same function as Edgar in the first party and as a a minor Support for status elements when needed.
Gau Equipment: Paladin shield, Circlet (will be replaced with Dueling mask), Snow Scarf, Ribbon, Master scroll. I struggled with gau on many levels some of this is lack of knowledge. I could make an entire new thread about Gau and what i should do with him. So for now this is what i have settled on. I would like to know a few things, Does gau keep his equipment advantages when he rages? so for example if he rages into something that is weak to fire but you have something that makes you absorb fire will you heal for double the amount. Same for status effects. The last time i played this was on the SNES and i could do a completely different set up with Medal Award. I do have half a mind to hack it on him go with a double lightbringer set up on him. But alas this is what i have settles on. I would like some Heavy advise on this particular matter and your opinions on them. Stats focused for Maxing: Magic, Strength. Rest in Speed and MP. I think MP is a dead stat on gau. Rages do not require MP to be used and there is no incentive to get it as far as i am aware so i ignored it. It seemed obvious that his Magic and strength stat are must maxes. I chose speed in the end as the dump stat as i believe to be more useful than Stam in this particular case.
Celes Equipment: x2 lightbringer, Circlet, Minerva Bustier, Genji Gloves and Celestriad See Terra for a full explanation. Celes unlike Terra in this point of the game has a useful ability in runic. Trance is useful midway to late game but when you are guaranteed to hit damage cap there is no need for it. Runic is the reason she is paired with gau eating the magic and giving gau the support my favourite gremlin needs. Stats focused for Maxing: Magic, Strength. Rest in Speed and HP /MP I chose speed on Celes as she will need to be rather attentive to Gau. She is also fast so i can abuse wait Tricking on her if needed. As the main caster it is also her job to Ultima enemies when needed.
Mog Equipment: Holy Lance, Paladin Shield, Circlet, Diamond Armor, Dragoon boots and Dragon horn As a strictly worse version of edgar in terms of equipment I tried to give them the best i could. With the dances adding a level of healing and status affect puring. All in all they seem to be ok. Stats focused for Maxing: Magic, Speed. Rest in magic and HP / Mp.
So the main reason Edgar had max magic was because of their "Tools" ability. Mogs does not have that instead has dance. So i chose speed to proc dance as many times possible as well get them in the Air as fast as possible (I don't think the drop time has anything to do with speed)
Gogo Mimics: Magic, Lore and Steal Equipment: Lightbringer, Paladin Shield, Circlet, Genji Armor, Ribbon and Merit Award I can see a argument to go Genji glove and double lightbringer for even more stats but i chose this instead. I can also see a argument of ditching Ribbon for Soul of Thamasa or Celestriad with the things he as Mimic. Gogo is mainly there to mimic the other party members Mainly as a second jumper or a second runic.
Party 2 Strago, Sabin, Cyan and Shadow There is less of a plan with this team and more trying to make the best with what i have left. all in all i think this is quite good. Strago is a strong caster with blue magic adding a level of utility. Sabin being the main physical DPS. Cyan and shadow are outshadowed by Sabin here. At least Shadow can throw Elemental Weapons when needed and the interceptor is a nifty free auto attack.
Strago Equipment: Magus rod, Paladin Shield, Genji helm, Behemoth suit, Celestriad and Miracle Shoes / Soul of Thamasa.
Strago's relics change on a boss to boss situation. Miracle Shoes are there for general use and mainly battles between bosses and Soul of Thamasa when i need to a lot Quickly like cast 5 ultima or white wind into Delta. With the utility that blue magic adds as well as access to the interceptor rippler glitch. I think strago is pretty ok all round. Stats focused for Maxing: Magic, Speed. Rest in Stam and HP / MP.
I made a thread going through the whys of this. But in short i decided Speed due to the ability to blitz ultimas and Stam because of the amount of stuff has as access to that scales off it and Miracle Shoes.
Sabin Equipment: x2 Claws (they are always changing,) Circlet, Red jacket, Genji glove, master scroll Sabin has single job. Press attack and watch them disappear. If he can proc as many on hits as possible and kill them. He has the same mentality as Locke in terms of build. Stats focused for Maxing: Magic, Strength. Rest in Stam and HP / MP. So the strength is there for his stupid good auto attacks, Magic for the onhits and AOE blitzes and the stam to benefit from strago and his buffs.
Cyan Equipment: Zantetsuken, Mutsunokami, Diamond helm, Genji Armor, Genji Gloves and Miracle shoes. So i have no idea what to do with him Most of his stats seem useless for Bushido. So i just gave him quite a generic Set up and hope we can get through this. Not to do Cyan dirty but i have no idea what to do with him. Stats focused for Maxing: Strength and Magic I am told that his Bushido is a mix of Magic and Strength so that's what i maxed.
Shadow Equipment: Kagenui, Gladius, Red cap, Genji Armor, Miracle Shoes, Genji Glove. He has a basic set up. Just deal as much damage as possible and if you cannot reach damage cap throw stuff at them. Stats focused for Maxing: Strength and Speed. Rest in magic HP / MP His stats are not the best but the 128 speed and strength means he does good damage so all in all he seems ok.

2024.05.20 04:25 DIY_Forever 3D Touch install won't home.

So my upgrades to the Aquila are done, replaced the hot end which was a royal PITA fishing the wire through the sheath but it is all the way home now.
The fans were a bit more convoluted. The one in the mainboard super easy, unclip the stocker, clip the new one in, unscrew it from the base and screw the new one to the base, done.
The one on the hot end, which replaced the faulty OE one required cutting and soldering, plus ample amounts of electrical tape as my smallest heat shrink tubing is way too big for this stuff... But it is not going anywhere, ever so there is that... Good solid solder joint, and the insulating wrap of electrical tape is doing its job well.
Installed the upgraded bed leveling springs, and of course the 3D touch. I delayed the firmware update until after getting a solid manual bed leveling, then I updated the firmware in both the machine and display.
The machine powers on just fine, 3D touch seems to go through its self check and appears ready, and then I try to run auto home. The X axis / carriage runs to the left, and hits the sensor, and then nothing. The Z axis stepper motor is never engaged. And yes I double checked to insure it did not come unplugged. https://youtu.be/z_jUAK46ocg
Products used for the 3D touch are...
BL Touch cable set since the 3D touch failed to come with a cable with an end to match the main board BL Touch connector. The colors are straight through 1 for 1 matches though even though the colors are out of order.

Sturdy 3D touch sensor bracket for Voxelab Aquila (STL file printed with Voxelab black PLA)
https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4826844
M3 x12 socket head cap screws and nuts to hold 3D touch sensor to mount.
M3 x12 socket head flathead screws to hold sensor mount to Aquila.
Voxelab G32 Aquila BL Touch firmware.

My suspicion is in the cable OR a faulty 3D touch sensor.
Any suggestions on what and how to check?

2024.05.19 23:22 serialcompliment Can't harm/do damage/hit NPCs as a quest objective?

EDIT: Just figured out what it was: I used a console command to disable collisions with friendly NPCs way back, and that's probably what's happening. In case anyone runs into this in the future.
This has happened twice so far: During Boetha's Proving, I can't damage/kill the follower stuck to the Pillar of Sacrifice, and I can't damage Vilkas when sparring at the beginning of the Companions quest line.
I'm assuming some mod is to blame, but I can't find anything similar that anyone has asked about before. Any time I look it up, people are saying that the fight went wrong, or killing the follower does nothing, etc. but nothing about not being able to do any damage to them.
I would appreciate if someone could see whether my load order has problems? It's being managed by Vortex, so I doubt it's the \*order\* itself, but maybe some incompatibilities:

2024.05.19 23:10 Lichloved_ The Giants of Kilima Lake: Fishing the Midnight Paddlefish, Giant Kilima Stingray, and the Ancient Fish

The Giants of Kilima Lake: Fishing the Midnight Paddlefish, Giant Kilima Stingray, and the Ancient Fish
Grand totals and percentages for a sample of 2072 fish at Fisherman's Lagoon (Kilima Lake using Glow Worms), caught between 5/12/24 and 5/19/24
Hello friends and fisher-scholars, Sugar Sensitivity here with my weekly obsession! After nabbing the Long-Nosed Legends along the Bahari Coast in my last post, I set my sights on what's become my favorite fishing spot in the game. Not only can I get a nice take of trout during the day phase, Einar is right there to unburden the mountains of fish in my inventory between phases, so data-gathering is quick, easy, and tidy!
But most importantly ... a flux of fisherfolk are frequently found there, familiar faces that foster fast friendships! (There are almost always lovely people to meet at the docks and fish with, making that x5 bonus easy to come by!)
Impromptu fishing party at Einar's docks!
The best name I've ever seen. If you see this, you're my hero.

Results

As a general statement, the information presented here is a snapshot of one person’s experiences and may differ from the actual catch rates in place behind the scenes. There may be factors I have not considered, or insights I have yet to discover about fishing, and this data may only apply to the current patch at the time of posting (0.179). I encourage other fisher-scholars to replicate this design or improve upon it so the most accurate information is available to us all!
The findings of this particular ichthyological foray are presented here. Full descriptions of data by session are available in the final images attached on this post.
It should be noted, the Ancient Fish only becomes available after completing the quest Something's In the Water. These catch tables would show significantly different results without that fish available to catch.
Giants of Kilima Lake: Grand Totals Total Sample Size: 2072
Day Sample: 910
  • Beluga Sturgeon: 37.80%
  • Alligator Gar: 39.67%
  • Enchanted Pupfish: 17.14%

  • Ancient Fish: 0.99%
Evening Sample: 307

  • Alligator Gar: 40.39%
  • Enchanted Pupfish: 20.20%
  • Waterlogged Chest: 1.63%
  • Giant Kilima Stingray: 2.61%

Night Sample: 500
  • Beluga Sturgeon: 35.20%
  • Alligator Gar: 39.60%
  • Enchanted Pupfish: 18.80%
  • Midnight Paddlefish: 6.40%
Morning Sample: 355
  • Beluga Sturgeon: 41.41%
  • Alligator Gar: 30.99%
  • Enchanted Pupfish: 20.00%
  • Waterlogged Chest: 4.23%
  • Giant Kilima Stingray: 0.85%
  • Ancient Fish: 2.54%
Below I have included my entry tables by date, as well as phase and session. The phase refers to one of four sections of a Palian Day (Day: 6AM-6PM, Evening/Dusk: 6PM-9PM, Night: 9PM-3AM, Morning/Dawn: 3AM-6AM), while a session refers to the number of fish I log sitting there and fishing for (at least part of) the duration of a given phase. Further analysis of per-session catch rates could be analyzed at a later date if outliers are reasonably accounted for. I've improved my tables to auto-calculate totals and percentages, making data entry quicker and more efficient, while also hopefully less prone to human error.
This new entry method also makes the process much easier to replicate across other biomes and future expeditions! So lovely folks that read these silly things, I ask you in regards to my next mission(s):
Where should Sugar go next?
What rare fish could he pursue on his next study? Are there any biomes or phase-specific catches you'd like to see explored?
Until next time then, may the luck of all fisher-scholars be with you in your quest for these giants of Kilima Lake!

2024.05.19 21:45 ItzASecretBoi Attempting to remove VeinMiner, but I can't find it. [Help?]

Hey, if you've clicked on this post, your probably willing to help me out real quick, I'm working on a vanilla ++ modpack for a modded game with me and my buddies, but for some reason I have Vein Miner, which I personally would like to remove. Unfortunately for me I can't find it and I've scanned this pack like 5 times now, and I cannot for the life of me find the Vein Miner mod.
Edit: For some reason typing /function veinminer:disable disables it, but im looking to remove this entirely if possible.
Edit: Solved, it was Paxi, Paxi had a datapack in it's files that was causing vein mining to happen.
If anyone glances at this and just so happens to know the culprit, thanks!

2024.05.19 21:34 gofancyninjaworld Two sisters, two tales

Two sisters, two tales
The difference between the handling of the Psychic Sisters' arcs in the manga and the webcomic is a fantastic demonstration of the fact that different does not mean worse. A lot of people do miss the somber feeling of the webcomic not being married to the manga's visual flair, but I think it's a little short-sighted. It's missing the stories each is trying to tell.
The biggest change can be summarised in a single image: that of Fubuki and Tatsumaki going clothes shopping in the manga. There is nowhere in the webcomic where this could have happened, neither previous to their confrontation, nor in its aftermath. What is different is not love: in both versions, each sister loves the other truly and desperately. Even at her worst, the only way webcomic!Tatsumaki would hesitate to give her sister a kidney would be because she's trying to find a way to psychically heal her. The difference comes in that in the manga, the sisters actually *like* each other. Actually *trust* each other. Actually *want to spend time* with one another.
I love that Terrible Tornado isn't very good at peopling. This is the sort of thing that we can only see in the manga.
Why? The change is best explained by Fubuki herself. Both versions have Fubuki experiencing intense isolation in primary school due to Tatsumaki attacking and driving away her schoolmates. However, in the webcomic, the fear and horror this engendered is still very much alive and present in her: she does not trust Tatsumaki not to hurt her and really is in the quest for warm bodies to interpose between herself and her sister in the hopes of being unmolested.
Webcomic Fubuki does not trust Tatsumaki not to hurt her when she's angry. For good reason.
In the manga, it's clear that this is a memory of the past. Somehow, without Saitama's intervention, she's managed to overcome her fear and see her sister as a person: a lost, overly-intense person with terrifying powers but few real-world coping skills.
The fear Fubuki feels of Tatsumaki is still so alive.
Manga: the past is the past. The summary of her recall makes it clear that it's a memory, not a vivid flashback.
She even dares to see her sister as someone who needs help.
The outcome of this difference gives us two great stories to enjoy, each of which illuminates real, difficult-to-swallow truths. Let's start with the webcomic. The truth about Tatsumaki is that as much as she loves Fubuki, she is too paranoid and too toxic for her to relate to Fubuki, and as much as Fubuki loves her, what she wants is the right TO BE LEFT ALONE. And she gets it in the end, with Tatsumaki flying off, tired out by Saitama's obduracy, and defeated by Fubuki's defiance. Sometimes, 'no-contact' is the only way we can preserve any love for those we'd normally be expected to be close to, especially family. We feel for how lonely a figure Tatsumaki cuts but there's nothing for it: she's earned her isolation.
https://preview.redd.it/hr57gmfnnf1d1.png?width=542&format=png&auto=webp&s=aae6930fb695afd43f1b19a7340693bc6723b945
No contact is not an issue in the manga: hell, they live together! What is of issue is the challenge of respecting choices, including those that are harmful. It is not easy or comfortable to accept that someone we care for has the right to make choices that endanger them. And being heroes, coming to harm is a given: it's just a case of when and how badly. That's why we see Tatsumaki quick to swoop in to fish Fubuki out of any trouble she has with monsters, quick to deride Fubuki's underlings, and quick to bar Fubuki from participating in the Monster Association raid. The fun thing is that we see that Fubuki feels the same way about Tatsumaki: she's terrified that she'll come to harm and wants to save her from her hard-driving obstinacy, going so far as to call it a curse that Blast has laid on her. They're not the only ones struggling to be supportive of heroes. We see how pained Kuseno is to see the state Genos comes back in sometimes. We see Bomb tell Bang to quit already -- he, too, is terrified that Bang is going to his death. We see how small, scared, and lonely Zenko is as she sits by the injured Badd. [1]
To love a hero is to live in fear for their well-being.
To add to it, there is the problem that the guys who took Tatsumaki haven't gone away and gone to mind their own business. They're very much alive, kicking, and keen to find any way to get at the sisters if they can. Tatsumaki's paranoia about people approaching Fubuki is not entirely unfounded. The disappointment on her face as she surveyed the mess that Tsukoyomi had made and realised that, yet again, she'd been right was a sight to see.
More in sorrow than in anger.
And yet, Saitama has the nerve to insist that she shouldn't drive people away from Fubuki and respect her way of doing things. She did not take it well.
The lesson here is two-fold. First, loving someone and wanting them in your life means that they're allowed to make their own decisions. Including those that harm them. I like too that it breaks out of the dichotomy too many people have about fears: either that they're unreasonable and thus to be dismissed as mere paranoia, or valid and to be indulged without challenge. No, ONE goes: you have to acknowledge the reality of your fears -- and then learn how to live with them.
Why can manga!Tatsumaki accept those lessons? The biggest reason is that she's come to want to change ALREADY. It meant a lot to Tatsumaki when she saw that Fubuki had come to the battlefield all by herself and of her own volition, rather than hiding behind her men as she usually did. That sort of heroism, putting yourself forward and daring to face the big monsters head-on was something that Tatsumaki respects. Seeing Fubuki actually step up and do it for once, even if she didn't like it, she's honest enough a person to acknowledge.
https://preview.redd.it/juytz2samf1d1.png?width=712&format=png&auto=webp&s=f74f5e988ad81ea374ddd51fa47df9e4daf54569
However, when it comes to working on your own, even if she's not publicly acknowledged it, the fact that Genos came to support her when she needed it and would not leave her even at the worst, is something that did leave an impression on her. Manga!Tatsumaki doesn't want to keep pushing people away out of fear. She really wanted to change. Webcomic!Tatsumaki does not like that she ends up pushing people away, but critically, she's not prepared to change that. Nowhere has she said that she doesn't want to do it any longer. You can't force anyone to change.
She may not know *how* to do it, but damn is Tatsumaki ready to stop being alone.
Tatsumaki might not like that she pushes people away but she's not considering changing her behaviour. As she has every right to.
It should be said that even though the manga arc ends with Tatsumaki standing with Fubuki and the remnant of the Blizzard Group that'd had the courage to stand up to her, everything's not perfect. What's happened is that the two sisters have to accept each other's choices if the're to live together. Yes, Tatsumaki has to accept that Fubuki is a hero who does things her own way and will have people around her. Fubuki is going to have to accept that Tatsumaki does know what she's talking about. And that's a tough thing. Especially with those two being tough, stubborn assholes who are too much like each other for comfort. The 'easy' thing about going no-contact is that you don't have to keep fighting the same battles over and over again, which you do to some extent if you want to stay in someone's life.
Even though it breaks her heart to see Tatsumaki leave, she knows it's right.
Fight on together, but not too destructively. It's both a metaphor and a literal admonition.
That's what I like about both versions. They're the author looking at the challenges of relationships from two different angles.
Webcomic: It can be an act of great courage to acknowledge that someone you love cannot be in your life.
Manga: It's also an act of great courage to support someone in a dangerous line of work and to find a way of living with reasonable fears.
I'm glad he's told both stories.
Aside
[1] I think that the problem of loving heroes gets even sharper when you're a dependent. Badd seems to be the sole carer Zenko has. If he's permanently injured or dies, what's going to become of her? Along those lines, I do not blame the future Mrs. Sekingar for making her fiance choose between hero work and marriage: knowing herself well enough to know that she was not prepared to become a young widow or long-term carer for a person addicted to endangering themselves was a great thing. Sadly for her, Sekingar seems to be finding a way to be a hero anyway, hehe. Can't take the hero out of a person.

2024.05.19 15:37 MatiusRex New member looking for fun places and activities

Hi all! A quick introduction; I've played Runescape way back when. No clue what I was doing, but having fun. The best I've got was Mithril but I was proud!
Now, almost 15 years later, I've gotten back into Old School Runescape. I've played a lot in f2f till I reached lvl 52 and got my full rune armour. Finally after 15 years!
It was always relaxing for me to go to Draynor village and just fish for herring, teleport to Varrock, and sell it at the GE. Draynor village was always a busy place. Lots of people having fun woodcutting and fishing.
Now this is my first day as a member, and I'm walking around in my first member world, but it feels a bit empty sometimes. Draynor village almost has no one active in the member worlds for example.
What I'm asking is; What are some fun and relaxing activities to do as a new member? Where are the chill people at and where can I unwind best after a long day of work while also making a bit of GP and XP on the side.
Cheers!

Head unit quirks
2015 3.8 ultimate. Couple weird things with the unit: these pop ups have started showing up lately, whenever I start the car there’s a 50% chance the unit will just crash and restart itself after around a minute, and recently it stopped giving me the low fuel warning (never used it but odd that it went away). Anyone else have similar issues and how to fix?

2024.05.19 01:20 Batrua Should soaked pages be revisited with the introduction of elemental weaknesses?

TLDR: Unless I'm missing something, for every hour you want to use tome of water to empower water elemental spells you need to do nearly three hours of Tempoross to fund the tome yourself (maximum effort with all rewards already green logged). If content is balanced around use of the tome of water and we're introducing more reasons to use it, then the rate at which you can farm soaked pages should be re-evaluated.
The math:
Page sources: - 1/53 chance to get 7 soaked pages (5-9 averaged) - 1/400 chance to get 25 soaked pages if you already have fish barrel and hit that drop again - 1/400 chance to get 25 soaked pages if you already have tackle box and hit that drop again - 1/1600 chance to get a second Tome of water, which can be turned in for 25 soaked pages - 1/1600 chance to get a Big harpoonfish, which can be turned in for 25 soaked pages
Total expected value of soaked pages per permit after you've green logged Tempoross: 0.2866 Best rate of permits per hour: 75 (according to wiki) - TBH I have no idea how feasible this rate is) Expected value of soaked pages farmed per hour: 0.2866 * 75 = 21.5 Water spell casts per hour of farming: 21.5 * 20 = 430 Casts per hour of a 5 tick water elemental spell: 1200 Hours of efficient, post green log Tempoross needed to cast empowered water spells for one hour: 1200 / 430 = 2.8 hours
Doing nearly three hours of Tempoross for every hour you want to cast empowered water spells seems egregious. Can we introduce more ways of getting pages with elemental weaknesses rebalance?
I didn't do the math on tome of fire too, but it seems like you could get more pages per hour because the turn in of dupes is much more favorable (250 pages for dupe tomes, and 50 pages for other uniques).

Eiyuden Chronicle: A Gamer’s Journey Through Triumph and Trial
After beating the game and recruiting all characters, I can confidently express say that Eiyuden Chronicle is a commendable successor to Suikoden, capturing its essence beautifully. It’s been a while since I’ve dedicated over 100 hours to a JRPG—the last being Xenoblade. I’d like to offer some detailed feedback on what I found to be the best and worst aspects of this game. I played it on PC xbox game pass:

Best:
  • The character diversity is remarkable, with a plethora of factions, races, and charismatic groups. Despite the challenge of depth with such a large cast, the developers have succeeded. I’ve felt a strong connection with the characters that intrigued me the most. This diversity extends to gameplay, with varied weapons, fighting styles, and roles within the HQ, whether as fighters or support for your team. The convergence of allied and antagonistic factions throughout the story is also a highlight.
  • The battle system is exceptional, never dull, with a rich array of skills, magic, and combos. Playing on hard difficulty with restrictions has made magic incredibly useful, and I’ve enjoyed mastering it. The return of runes, particularly the management aspect, equipment, and stat mechanics, is a welcome feature. I’ve engaged in manual combat more than anticipated, but auto-battles have been convenient for simpler encounters.
  • The overall difficulty is well-balanced. I’ve played on hard mode with restrictions, leading to several boss defeats after multiple attempts, which was gratifying. Bosses with special mechanics add complexity to battles, and I only wish there were more of them. Additional unlockable end-game content would be appreciated.
  • The soundtrack is a pleasant surprise, far from monotonous, and complements the game’s various segments beautifully. The opening title song is especially noteworthy, reminiscent of the iconic Final Fantasy theme and Studio Ghibli’s epic compositions, such as “Flags of Brave.”
  • The Spanish localization is impeccable. Despite initial criticism from detractors, the translation holds up well, which don’t detract from the gameplay, at least in the spanish version. Anyway, the behavior of some players and their treatment of developers regarding the localization topic is regrettable.
  • The original Japanese voice acting is outstanding, featuring renowned talents known for their roles in anime like Fate Stay Night and Golden Kamuy.
Worst:
  • The narrative, while not poor, could benefit from more grandeur and a graver tone. The game’s cheerful disposition, akin to many generic anime, is pleasant but lacks the gravitas that a darker narrative could provide. A less predictable plot with dramatic twists would have been preferable. The story’s simplicity lies in its events and characters, which are enjoyable, though the epic moments are sparse.
  • Technical issues, such as bugs in the cooking contest (already fixed) and certain character recruitment, along with a flawed auto-fight strategy system (characters does not follow the individual orders), detract from the experience. The most jarring are the duel scenes plagued by audio desync and freezing, disrupting immersion, specially during the final battle and the excessively bugged credits sequence, where I stayed for more than 30 minutes due to all these problems and I thought I would never be able to finish the game for a "new game+".
  • The minigames’ lack of depth is disappointing. Fishing feels tedious, races offer little interaction, and the card game is too simplistic. The cooking game was notably broken before being fixed today. The beigoma game’s mechanics are monotonous, and the necessity to play out the third round regardless of the outcome is frustrating. Stealth mechanics and puzzles are underused but enjoyable, reminiscent of Zelda games, and could have been expanded upon. Still, like I said, I really enjoyed all the minigames, they simply could have been even better.
  • The controversy surrounding Kickstarter backer rewards has overshadowed the game’s launch. While I’m not a backer, I’ve observed the situation and understand the frustration. However, the challenges of fulfilling rewards, especially those imported from Japan, are considerable. I commend the developers for their efforts to resolve issues and support their community. It’s a reminder that early access and crowdfunding come with inherent risks.
  • I am not very agree to the decision to charge for character DLCs, which could have been included as more in deep secondary stories. The €25 season pass for DLCs seems steep, and I’m undecided on whether to invest further or wait for a potential discount. I would have been more satisfied with a price of €15.
Thank you for reading this extensive post, and I extend my gratitude for the game. I hope your enjoyment matches mine! My rating for the game is a 9-10, not only because the game is so good, but because of everything it entails.
