2024.05.19 18:17 TheTangoFox The GME Doom Loop (For Shorts)

So in the past three years, my convictions have only grown stronger that GME is shorted in the hundreds of percentages, and those shorts are hidden in swaps, LEAPs, and other mechanisms.
The notice of GME having 45m shares ready to sell, even if their cash on hand is good for now, established a sort of cycle in my mind that I foresee happening...
• GME price eventually goes up
The volume this week wasn't mostly retail. Some big needed to reposition themselves. The end result is volatility, which is a perfect opportunity where...
• GameStop sells shares for cash
Simple enough. GameStop wants cash, so they execute the afformentioned plan. More shares with no immediate change in the underlying business means...
• GME price goes down
Typical reaction. More shares means more shareholder equity to spread around. Not to mention shorts now have grounds to short again. But wait, what's that? What are they doing with their cash since there's no bonds to pay? Well...
• GME takes action
My hot take you didn't ask for? Unless a new console has been released, their sales will continue down or remain flat. We can keep posting those buys at GameStop, but the masses usually have their peripherals and games they want prior to a new console launch. So, raise additional cash unless you're putting it to work? Asset purchase, dividend, share buyback, or something else. Ever since seeing the OCC tagging GME as a holding company, my mind took the Berkshire Hathaway route. I see GameStop as a holding company well down the road with their fingers (or fist) in many other business ventures through M&As or strategic partnerships. The S-3ASR filing from Friday reenforces this idea. Throw in the Consolidated Audit Trail (CAT) requirements and there are entities out there that need to locate real shares fairly quickly to prove they have what they say they hold. Regardless, there's added value to the shareholder equity with added assets and controlled liabilities. Therefore...
• GME price eventually goes up
The acquisition or returns to shareholders means assets increase. If assets increase without a huge hit to liabilities, then shareholder value must increase (assets = liabilities + shareholder equity). The board has opted to forgo salary, and costs appear more or less under control with the cash on hand. To continue parking cash in T-Bills for a 5% return to me is in poor form, so the cash must move. Otherwise, why raise it at this point? Even the short shart at Wedbush (Patcher) raised his "price target" from $5.60 to $7. He increased it 25%. It's a far cry from where it should be, but even he had to move the goal posts. That still leaves hundreds of millions of shares still short in an unwinnable position that must now wait for the next trip to get out, or limit their infinite risk.
The point? This is an infinite money glitch. Shorts never intend to close, and have been unable or unwilling to do so over the past decade. GameStop is in no dire position that collapse is imminent. So, as a result, price volatility as short positions shuffle around their positions. This is a perfect time to sell shares during a run (not all 45m in one go, but a few), watch the price come down, do something amazing, and which the price organically climb once more based on fundamentals rather than the big players trying to stay alive one more day. This charade can continue until shorts capitulate or collapse, or a greater action is taken by the GameStop Board to set the enterprise on a new and more prosperous course.
tl;dr - if you believe in the company & the idea shorts can't effectively close, then relax and enjoy the ride

We're back for a big Sunday of racing in absolutely BEAUTIFUL conditions! Most of the small boat titles have been awarded, and congrats to all newly-christened National Champions! I'm at NE Regionals again today so somewhat limited for time, so I'm keeping it to the Novice 8+s and Varsity 8+s and 4+s. In we go!

WN8+ (10:51 am)

Powerful showing from Purdue as they claim the championship! They took a half boat length lead off the start and stayed in control through the whole race. UCSB gave them no room to relax as they retained contact through the whole race, but Purdue would not be denied and crossed the line with their coxswain on UCSB's bow seat. The race for third was super compelling, with Bowdoin racing out to an early 5-seat lead on Illinois. Camera angles made it hard to tell, but somewhere in the third 500, Illinois hit Bowdoin with a move that Bowdoin simply could not respond to and took a lead heading into the last 500, and Illinois held on for the rest of the race to round out the podium. Great racing all around! Now let's see if Purdue's male counterparts can bring home the gold on the other side.

MN8+ (11:04 am)

Strong start by Coast, taking roughly half a length lead on the field through the first minute, but Purdue absorbed the blow and and had taken a two seat lead through the 1000m. By around 1250m Purdue had a bow-to-stern lead on OCC and looked to be in full control of the race for gold. Cameras focused mainly on the leaders so it was hard to tell, but it looked like a tight race for third between Minnesota and UC Davis with Bucknell just a bit off the pace and USC off the pace. Entering the last 500, Minnesota and UC Davis were in a dead heat for third while OCC and Purdue's positions were mostly unchanged. Entering the red buoys, UC Davis had maybe a one seat advantage, but Minnesota looked to be winding up one last killer sprint. UC Davis managed to hold onto their slight advantage for a bow deck win for third! Purdue finished off a dominant campaign with national title, OCC close behind ~4 seats back, and UC Davis absorbed late charges from Minnesota and Bucknell to take bronze, with Minnesota finishing 0.2s back and Bucknell 0.17 back of Minnesota!

WV4+ (11:18 am)

All weekend this has looked like FIT's race to lose, and they proved it with a dominant start off the line to have open water by the minute mark and multiple lengths of open water by the two minute mark. Behind them, a tight race for the last two medals formed, with Lafayette having a bow-to-stern lead over Texas and Virginia Tech locked in a dead heat up to the 1000m mark. Through the 1000m, VaTech took a strong move to take a length lead on Texas and chew into Lafayette's margin, though Lafayette maintained a full length lead on the challengers. Crossing the 1500 saw now meaningful change in the margins, with FIT walking away from the field while Lafayette maintained a stiff-arm lead over VaTech while Texas fell off the pace a bit. Entering the red buoys there was no drama, with FIT poised to claim it's second-straight ACRA title! Lafayette held its length advantage all the way to the line, and Virginia Tech crossed two seconds later to claim its bronze. Well raced by all!

MV4+ (11:32 am)

As they have all weekend, WashU St Louis asserted themselves early into this race, taking a bow-to-stern lead on defending champ Bowdoin by the two minute mark. Bowdoin held a two seat lead on Florida and three seat lead on Lafayette, though both those margins tightened to near even as the crews approached the thousand, while WashU continued to walk away from the field. By the time crews crossed the 1000m, Florida had taken a slight lead over Bowdoin while Lafayette fell a bit off the pace for the race to third. WashU continued to build their lead with some impressively clean rowing. Crossing the 1500m, WashU had open water over Florida, who was bow to stern on Bowdoin who was bow to stern on a sudden charge from Michigan State, who themselves were three seats up on Lafayette. WashU held their composure and put a bow on their dominant weekend of racing with an equally-dominant time of 6:41. while Florida held onto them for a 6:44 and Bowdoin absorbed the challenge from MSU to round out the podium with a 6:49. Big congratulations to WashU and a fantastic race by all the MV4+s!

M2V8+ (11:45 am)

Exciting start to the 2V8+! UVA with about a half boat length lead off the line with Michigan and UCLA close behind. By around 500m in, UVA was roughly half a length up on Michigan while Michigan was half a length up on UCLA. Going into the thousand. UVA was up by nearly a full length on Michigan who was likewise up on UCLA, and Purdue began a hard charge out of lane 6 to assert themselves into the medal conversation. By the 1250m mark, Purdue had walked past UCLA and was even with Michigan, and the Midwest dogfight started to push both crews into UVA's margin. UVA responded and held their coxswain on Michigan and Purdue's bowdecks. Heading into the last 250m, UVA looked primed to win gold while Michigan had started walking on Purdue, taking a 4-seat lead at the red buoys. As the crews crossed the line, we had Virginia in first, Michigan in second by half a length, and Purdue in third by half a length. Congratulations to all the medal winners!

W2V8+ (11:58 am)

Okay I'm happy for WashU's 2- but can we get to the race in progress and just play their audio over the video of the race? The W2V8+ grand final is literally happening right now we lost the entire first half of this race. Even though I'm 100% in favor of getting more athlete voices , just fold it into the existing coverage instead of wholesale ignoring races on the water. At the 1000m mark, Bowdoin had a length lead over Vermont, who had a narrow lead over UC Irvine, with no one else challenging for a medal. Bowdoin maintained their dominant lead, stretching it out to clear water entering the last 500m, and UC Irvine jumped first to take a lead on Vermont heading into the red buoys. Crossing the line, we had Bowdoin with clear water, with UCI in second with a half length lead over Vermont. Fantastic second half by Irvine, and well rowed overall by all boats!

MV8+ (12:36 pm)

WHAT A RACE! What an absolutely incredible race! Off the line it was UVA with the slightest of leads on UCLA, who themselves had a two seat lead on Notre Dame. By around the 750, Notre Dame clawed back up to be even with UCLA, and both were still down by a few seats on UVA. The real magic kicked in at the ~1100m mark though; ND and UCLA pulled back to be even with UVA, and for the next 700 meters, there were just three crews going absolutely ham, stroke for stroke down the course. One crew would take the lead and the others would immediately respond. Going into the red buoys, Notre Dame started to find another gear and walked up to a half boat length lead, with UCLA roughly two seats ahead of UVA. Then, in a moment of serendipity for UVA and tragedy for UCLA, the Bruins' 3 seat caught a crab with 100m to go. UVA immediately pounced on the mistake, and the crews crossed the finish line in order of Notre Dame, UVA (+1.5), UCLA (+1.9). Congratulations to Notre Dame on a monster performance, and while I'm heartbroken for my guys, it doesn't get better than that.
Also want to highlight, ACRA with THREE crews going sub-5:50 this year is wildly impressive. Club rowing is back baby.

WV8+ (1:00 pm)

What a finish to the regatta! Neither of the V8+ races disappointed. Vanderbilt jumped out to an early lead and had roughly half a boat length on Purdue going into the thousand, but Purdue simply would not let them go. Entering the last 500, Vandy held a 4 seat lead, but Purdue began a hard charge to continue applying pressure and was taking seats all the way to the red buoys, where the margin for first had dwindled down to just half a seat. Once the red buoys hit, Vanderbilt finally a weathered the storm and simply would not let the boilermakers past, holding on to their half seat lead to become national champions! It was hard to tell from the camera, but Northwestern held a half-length lead over UC Irvine to round out the podium and take third. Fantastic racing, fantastic regatta, and I can’t wait to do it again next year.

2024.05.19 03:36 Darkblade51224 What y'all think, I just wrote this.

Cody approached her door, his hand poised to knock, this is wrong. I'm coming here with such bad news and on top of that I'm thinking about how I can use this to my advantage. Cody sighed as he knocked, there was the sound of movement inside, a click, then the door cracked open to reveal. . . Piercing red eyes glaring at him.
“What do you want?” Skarlet grumbled, Cody placed his hand on the door and pushed. Her eyes widened in surprise as he opened his mouth.
“Aiko and Amethyst have been kidnapped, can I come in?” After his words her resistance disappeared as her face was shadowed in a dark look. He stepped in and closed the door behind him. “why don't we sit down and talk.” Skarlet nodded as she sat down on her bed, he couldn't help but look at her eyes as he sat down on her desk chair. She had a swirl of emotions, a nervous toe tapping. Her tail was flicking with anxiety while her ears were displaying alertness, pointed outwards with a slightly lowered stance.
This wasn't really his expectation, he'd never seen her shy from a fight like this, she always seemed to run at a fight. Though the way she ran towards fights was more like she was running from something.
“Spit it out, what happened?” She spoke like normal, crude, but this time with a hint of hesitance and maybe was that fear.
“I don't know the specifics, I was a bit too late, I saw it though. Aiko and Amethyst were heading home from the Guild like me when. . . They got snatched and dragged into an alley, I immediately moved to help and I did hear fighting. They didn't go silently, well until they did. Suddenly it got really quiet, when I arrived in the alley they were both gone. I was surprised, teleportation is an extremely advanced spell.” Cody explained what he saw, but it only brought more anxiety and fear to Skarlet. “I'm Here to ask you to help me.”
“No.” She spoke almost instinctively, and it was such a fast response that Cody was taken aback. “I-I mean, I can't. . . I can't do that I'll only make it worse.” She explained as her voice cracked, he was further surprised as tears seemed to be pushing against the edge of her eyes.
“Uh, I um. . . I never expected that answer.” Cody was surprised, Skarlet didn't seem to care as she flipped over and curled up. He frowned but a decision surfaced. He decided to push.
“Skarlet, if you're making the decision not to participate because your conscience rests easy, I'll save them. You shouldn't use that crutch. I won't be saving them.” Skarlet's entire body froze, previously she'd had little movements like her tail anxiously twitching, her ears seemed focused on him even as they pressed against her head. But when he said that she completely froze, even stopped breathing for a moment as she exploded out of her ball. An intense rage and bloodlust exploded before dissipating as a deep longing and desperation filled her eyes. The tears no longer threatened to fall, no they poured.
She was off the bed, clutching him as her eyes tried to pierce his soul. The look on her face as she desperately uttered a cracked hesitant “why?” Stabbed his heart and tried ripping it to shreds.
“Cause they aren't my friends, why would I go out of my way to help strangers. Their adventurers, they're supposed to take care of themselves.” He spoke coldly, hardening his face as her hands shook. He could see it in her eyes, her mind was reeling.
“So let me ask you again, are you gonna save them, your friends will die tonight if you do nothing.” As he said that she fell back, her back making a thud against the bed frame. She didn't react though, her mind was processing. The tears got heavier, she shook her head and dug her nails into her skin. Blood dripped down her arm, she was struggling against the desire to help someone conflicted with her fears. Cody wasn't sure what she was so afraid of, but Even he could tell that he was seeing the fear that always kept her running towards the next fight.
“I. . . No, I shou- nooo, I can't I can't. I. . . This is my. . . I'm sorry.” A broken unintelligible sentence came out as she broke down into sobs.
Finally, his heart shattered, he couldn't do it anymore as he slipped from the chair and sat beside her. He sighed and felt like shit as he pulled her close. For the first time since he met her she didn't resist, no she leaned into him. Going from the fierce resistance of a knife to his throat just for suggesting they run a commission together to this was. . . Shocking. She sobbed as he ran his fingers through her hair, I did this, I riled all her emotions, pushed her to the brink, then kicked her off it. I can't leave her like this. He thought as he finally spoke.
“I'll save them, just promise me one thing.” She didn't stop crying, or respond. But her tense muscles relaxed as she leaned into him further. “After this, we're friends and you gotta stop trying to kill me whenever I wanna hang out.” He couldn't smile even as it was kinda silly that he had to say that, though he didn't need to smile as a low chuckle among the sobs told him she realized the irony. She suddenly pulled herself back, aggressively wiped her tears as a small smile was trying to hide as it rested on her lips.
“Tha-nk you.” Her voice cracked in the middle as she turned away to hide her mess of a face.
“You sure you won't help.”
“I. . . Want to.”
“But you can't. Yeah I know, I'll save them. This is not your fault Skarlet. This town hates you, but you are not what they say you are. So, next time something like this happens. I want you beside me as we resolve it.” Cody spoke gently, but with determination as he stood up, then he turned to leave.
“How are you gonna find them?” Skarlet asked, Cody smiled in response.
“I know someone who can find them, I'll just have to persuade them.” Cody frowned after he turned. damn, after that confident speech I can't screw this up. But convincing her to help won't be easy, she's practically my enemy. Working against us constantly, how can I get her to help me?

2024.05.18 21:38 JCEE130 AEW: A Company That Makes me Love Professional Wrestling

Hello,
Names JCEE.
Like many individuals on this page, we are fans of a wrestling company known as All Elite Wrestling. As a long-time lurker, this fandom comes within many shapes, sizes and sorts. From my time here, there were many highs, All Out 2021 or Wembley Stadium, to the lowest lows, Brawl Out, and whether there were people that have been here since day 1 or just joined recently, we come together due to one simple fact:
WE LOVE AEW.
My origin into this fandom wasn't at the every start, I didn't watch All Out 1 or watched when AEW started weekly TV in its first year.
I was a waning WWE fan and the only weekly stuff I watched was NXT Takeovers and NXT UK because being in a part of Europe where I couldn't watch weekly the main roster stuff so just kept up to date with podcasts or highlights.
(Shoutout OG Whatculture with Pacitti, Jack and King Ross).
Like many fans of the E, I came in as a fan throughout the early 2000's and dropped off and came in again every so often.
The height of my fandom will always be going to Youtube in the old days and watching the Shield vs The Wyatt Family in Elimination Chamber.
Even back then, Mox to me was the leader of the Shield and still salty that they made Roman the leader towards the end. (haha)
Man it was wild to think that the main reason the E gave so much shine to Black and Gold NXT at Survivor series was mostly due to AEW gaining momentum.
NXT Black and Gold/UK will always hold a special place in my heart for two main reasons
1) it was the place where I showed my partner her first proper wrestling match: Adam Cole (Bay Bay) vs Keith Lee Champ for both their belts.
She was sad she coudn't get me the shirt for that match cause it was only available in US
2) Ilja Dragunov vs Walter. NXT UK Pandemic Era
Still to this day, my favourite series of matches that made me realise "man I love professional wrestling".
If any of you still have the old network go out of your way to watch this and their Takeover match, I remember being part of that journey where Ilja basically had to break himself down and build himself up to get another shot at Walter had to be something special to get me to watch a weekly show where only piped in crowd noise was the only response to the action.
However, even though I say these things and had those memories I don't watch the product anymore since my Membership expired. I recently went to a live event a while ago in Germany with my sister to see WWE.
Standout moments were:
a) The Miz cut a promo, in German, about how big his balls are. He faced Cody Rhodes and not gonna lie. Favorite match of the night.
b) Introduction to Main event Jey Uso live and the Yeet chants. Tag match with Sami Zayn that spiraled from an NXT North American Title Match that ended when Dom and JD got the DQ on the FIRST MATCH to set up a tag match.
c) New Day are still great
d) Imperium vs Alpha Academy was great home town goodness.
e) Gunther vs Bronson was easily a slapper. Both figuratively and literally. I was in seats high up in the Arena. I have a feeling most of us would die if Gunther were to chop any of us. It was LOUD.
f) Seth Rollins vs Shinsuke for the World title in a Berlin Street Fight. Gunther should have main evented and that table spot SUCKED BALLS.
After the event, My sister and I chatted, she had a great time. Told her I did too, I still would not watch the product again.
Alright, the preamble is now out the way. I know alot of you guys would consider the above excessive but I feel like I had to paint a picture to get you into the frame of my mind as a fan of wrestling. I'm not coming from a WWE hater but as someone who did love the things they did but, unlike some who dropped out after a multitude of BS wrestling bollocks from E, for myself, I just could'nt find a way to enjoy a company that seemed so.....two-faced.
AEW will always be the company that proved to me that there is a company that would do right by wrestlers who felt they could've been more.
The moment that made me into an avid AEW fan.
Jon Moxley beating Chris Jericho to win the AEW title for the first time.
The guy whose last run involved a gas mask was able to be crowned a champion as HIMSELF in front of an adoring crowd.
Then the Elite/Hangman saga. Eddie Kingston. Darby. Orange. AEW Dark hangouts.
I went into the deep end of this new company and wanting to know more about these new characters and people I was introduced to.
It still feels nostalgic thinking about how the Elite created the BTE title or the Bucks asking Eddie to cut a promo on a pack of cookies.
God that was some good times.
Then the Punk stuff happened.
With the preamble being as long as it was, this section is going to be brief. In summary:
-Exciting when he came in. Loved his match with Darby.
-Brawl Out was a situation where if you go back and just tweak things a little, I have a feeling we would have a different timeline that what we have today.
-Regardless, everyone shoulders blame and things could have been handled better. That said, CM Punk is an entitled baby who realised that just because TK loved him, the rest of the locker room had different opinions.
-Him being fired was probably the best to occur and regardless of what you feel about the video, still not cool to lunge at your boss cause you feel slighted. Leave your "oh it wasnt even that bad, TK got thin skin" bs out the door.
The above point is why Youtube personality Just Alyx soured on me.
"Come on, CM Punk Tony. LIke look at him"
That was the phrase that just made me sad about one of the people I loved to get his views on with the product.
Also JDfromNY. Loved his WWE rants. They were hilarious. With Papa H pretty much running the show, he and Alyx, two dudes I could just listen to and just kinda vibe with became insufferable.
I think the line where one posted "With Triple H finally getting these backstage hands in order and the Rock being one of the board members, I can confidently say that I can just enjoy and not backseat" was the push I needed to get those two off my timeline.
AEW as a five year old company has made mistakes, jesus christ Wardlow I'm so sorry, but it has shown it can grow and it's still a place where wrestlers can call home.
The recent thread on SQ is over 1.5k comments about the low ratings and I didn't click onto it cause I enjoy my mental health but I feel people forgot that Sting had his retirement match two months ago and that was arguably one of AEW's best PPV's. Then Dynasty happened and so on and so on.
There are alot of things that AEW needs to fix but I'm confident that all of us can admit, they have made great strides compared to its start and they will continue to improve without, hopefully, resorting to childish BS in the future
I feel like this post was therapeutic in the sense that I needed to vent about the recent online discourse. So I leave you guy's a question:
What is the one thing you can say that makes you love AEW
I'm JCEE. Thanks for the Ted Talk

2024.05.18 09:31 go_far_go_together Imma do my best to tie everything together

Alright, I'm laying my absolute best thesis out there. This is not advice, just my best guess after following since feb 2021, with reasoning.
First, Ryan Cohen got involved in gamestop because his Dad would roll over in his grave if he sided with the Hedge Funds. That's the reason we even have a billionaire that has some values in this play. His actions prove it by buying shares, working himself and close allies (LC) into leadership positions and then taking no salary to become CEO. He is 100% aligned with our interests. Trust that. He didn't do all those actions to get a volunteer CEO job on his resume. Read about chewy, and the fact he was the largest shareholder of apple at one time, these are all the actual legacy resume points a guy like that wants. Getting filthy rich with us is the only reason to take on the stress.
Now that that is out of the way, what likely happened in 2021? The entities that were shorting meme baskets definitely thought they were "smart money" and that they were preordained to always "cellar box" non-S&P/Nasdaq/Dow Jones struggling companies, driving them bankrupt. Once the DTCC, OCC and NSCC recognized an asymmetric risk had occured, the DTCC likely issued LEAPs to allow every short to claim that they "covered". Is it a coincidence that the ~900 million shares that traded since May 3, when volume changed, are about 4x the 226 million shares owned by the dtcc? I think they issued 4x their shares in leaps.
Now, before I go on, what do I think about DRS numbers leveling off? I think they knew they could make it seem like the movement stagnated by drsing a bunch by themselves and the un-DRSing as we hit some important number of shares, 75 million it seems.
Next, let's move onto the NFT marketplace because i think it's important to the share split and issuance ahead. I think Cohen was ready to do a dividend through loopring when the marketplace proved its operability. Loopring has stated multiple times they want to replace the exchanges because the transparent ledger is trustless compared to this mob casino. That's when the DTCC must have let him in that nothing was going to be allowed in the US financial system that wasn't a cash or share dividend because the LEAPs were a systemic risk. Remember, all guesses here.
Since he couldn't go for the head, he got to work prepping to report a profitable quarter immediately prior to the LEAP expiry. Enter the beginning of the month.
The volume uptick in some of the surviving meme basket stocks , sometimes multiples of the outstanding, was exercising these LEAPs and buying of shares on darkpools. You can see the shift in the volume of exchanges chart here: https://chartexchange.com/symbol/nyse-gme/exchange-volume/
Now, they day LEAPs expire from February 2021, Cohen takes his first shot. He first clears out any weak hands by letting everyone know that if we were going to go close to max pain, might as well release the meh news he had. The weak hands can leave, but everyone left is as deep in this as we get. Then the issuance, on the day the LEAPs expire. GUESSES PEOPLE!
306 million outstanding shares / 45 issuance shares is 6.8, or 7 4 1 "subscription" offer for a new share issued on loopring, our experienced partner. Why else would you have in the appendix a lawyer drafted letter saying what you are doing is legal, on an assumed legal form? It must be something unusual. At a minimum, it should be a dividend that shorts can't replicate, forcing a cover.
Either that or perhaps it was always Billionaire Ryan Cohens dream to manage a video game retailer for no salary, and no plan but putting in days.
Is there anything we should look for to confirm the LEAPs thesis? These meme basket stocks were actually really connected at first by the shorts going bankrupt together, but then by the LEAPs controlling their margin requirements. If the LEAPs expired/were all executed, these meme stocks should move more independently until the shorts still short start going bankrupt again. Maybe it's a few weeks or months, maybe it's Monday?
Good job survivors, it's almost time for a show IMO.
I don't have enough

  • Post-match, LA Knight is complaining to Charles Robinson about the 3-on-1 situation when Carmelo Hayes interrupts saying oh he couldn't get the job done huh? Knight shoves him, and Robinson holds them apart.
  • Nick Aldis is in the ring for our contract signing. Logan brings a bunch of Prime bros with him to the ring. Cody asks Logan if he knows what happened here 32 years ago on this day? It was Wargames '92, and it's memorable if you're a fan of professional wrestling, but Logan is just a tourist. It's time for him to make Cody Rhodes a Grand Slam champion. Logan doesn't want to here it, he just showed up to sign a contract - except the crowd keeps drowning him out with boos whenever he tries to say this. He tells the crowd they're horrible. He reviews the contract, but then tears it up and says he only agreed to compete for the WWE Undisputed Championship ONLY. Logan has his attorney pulling out the contract with his terms, and tells Nick Aldis to make Cody sign it. Aldis says this isn't what they agreed to & it's unprofessional. Logan's litigator asks if he's threatening his client? Cody interrupts, tells Nick he's doing a good job, then tells him to leave it to him & Logan to resolve. Logan says Cody's done nothing to deserve a shot at his US Championship, but Logan is worthy of every title in this industry. He throws the contract at Cody, who comes back angrily saying the honeymoon is over, everyone's going to see what Logan is like on the inside. He signs the contract before tossing Logan out of the ring and taking out his cronies.
  • Cathy Kelley talks with Nia Jax, who knows Jade Cargill is impressive, but she's not going to be the Queen of the Ring.
  • Austin Theory & Grayson Waller join the commentary desk for the tag team match.
  • The commentary desk addresses the QR codes that have been appearing recently, and they address the Twitch feed last week -- but all they have are more questions than answers.
  • Byron Saxton speaks with AJ Styles, noting his last couple of weeks have been challenging. Where does he go from here? Styles notes his loss in Lyon, and in the first round of the KOTR tournament. Next week, he goes to Nick Aldis' office, and will find out from there.
  • Byron Saxton attempts to speak with Bayley, but she's interrupted by Chelsea Green & Piper Niven. Bayley says she doesn't have time to talk, how about they do it in the ring next week?
  • Next week, from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia: the King & Queen of the Ring Semi-Finals!
  • Cathy Kelley attempts to interview Randy Orton in the ring after his win, but the Bloodline interrupts. Randy grabs the mic and interrupts them saying, are you going to intimidate ME? I'm RANDY FREAKIN' ORTON, a 14 TIME WORLD CHAMPION. And since we're doing introductions, next week he'll introduce him to his foot up his ass, as well as the 3 most deadly letters in sports entertainment... R-K-O!
Additional Plugs
Next week's Smackdown will be pre-taped from KSA (airing live in Europe).

2024.05.18 01:55 Limp_Mastodon3167 What if HANDS is the long lost TWIN BROTHER of Leatherface?

What if HANDS is the long lost TWIN BROTHER of Leatherface?
Obviously this is just a speculation, we all know every character is part of the family and which role they play for their twisted family tree (some got explained better than the others for lore on the og movie).
There are many factor to take on this, basically on the speculations of the fans itself. This help me to follow some strings and get to the theory point that the title takes a strong take on the matter: Is Hands character the creative point take to a twin brother for Leatherface? Here are some points to realize and say that (maybe not og wise, but in the game creative liberty) this new character is Bubba's long lost twin brother.
  1. The character role and model:
This is obvious because there is some things to say about the looks of the character, obviusly take some strong points to see another build-like-a-tank character besides the big face of the game. But to be honest, there would be some strong takes on make differences between this two: height diferences, the weapons they use and the gameplay itself. This take me to the point to think "how this prove they are twins if the characters are not similar?" That're we get to the point of: Twins look alike, but they're not the same. That takes me to the next point.
  1. The same actor that did Leatherface Motion capture and Modeling:
This also prove nothing, like I said, everything is a speculation. But this is also something important to think about, like I said about twins, most have the same face but are not the same. What do I mean? Look at the Sprouse Brothers, even tho they have the same face, they don't exactly look the same for different circumstances. Even tho both initiate at the same program, the puberty hit different on their program sequel, making one taller and easily fit, and the other a bit shorter and chubby. Someone on Twitter point the similarities between the character and the actor Kane Hooder, who literally portrayed the character in the modeling and motion capture of the game for our favorite psycho and face of the franchise. And we all know that in the original movie we get to see on behind the scenes photos of the actual face of the original actor, RIP to the great one, but we need to understand that (even in canonically lore for the movie) we haven't seen the actual face of Bubba (and even in original lore thats not his name), so this can easily say that they're cooking something intringuing, but maybe can say is just speculation, like what if they look alike behind LF's mask (and maybe if the is no face-deformation behind that mask). And last and not least.
  1. The weapon, skills and breathing.
Like I said, is a bit funny to point of some things people speculate but at least is interesting to think a bit of it, but lets point some things they said that can show us the right track on this matter:
One of the things that I point and be said on social media is that this character have one of the og movie weapons of Bubba, that is the hammer. What if the character have the same strength as Bubba?, we can see that same "one-hit-knock-down" in a run charge (like LF did in the OG movie) and easily break doors from his tackle ability (maybe not ñike LF, but break locks with tackles and repair locks in a different and more technical way), this is just a maybe and we need to see a gameplay of his to see if that can happen.
Second, like I said that twins are similar but not alike, we all know Bubba is a muscle but not a brainer, but what if his possible twin is the brain behind all mechanical traps in the fam? We all know that Bubba make everything for his family to be safe and sound, and he use his aggresive but not so smart ways to "protect and bring food at the table", but what if the twin brother is the brainer behind the security of the family barn? What if he creates the simple but rather complicated electric traps, plan for complicated electric door-escapes for a tunnel and how to cointain victims for the family to feed themselves without trouble? This base on that leak of his skills are based on electric traps, and relate of what we already have seen as security for maintaining victims in the farm. As the Sprouse brothers in Zack and Cody series, we can see these two as the brain and brawn of the family, a twisted and horrorful family.
Third but not least, and the funniest to me and more importand, what if the character doesnt talk either like LF? This is a funny statement because we only get to hear his heavy breathing once he get his victim on sight. But we can clearly see that he might be another big dude with no brains for that speculation only, but if we get the big picture of it for the characters lore-plans, if he is also a twin brother of bubba, what if that mean both are a result from a twin but complicated birth? We need to realice that this type of complication also affects different at the babys, affecting even one more than the other. Saying this, what if the possibility of a speaking problem is also sign of the close-relations between these two different but rather similar character? What if the complications only affect mentally disableling LF and make some kind of a bulky-genius brother? What if we get a double-trouble team for a destroyer and a maker?
In conclusion: both protecting the family in their best they can do (one more physically than the other), both having issues of talking and both being the biggest character with the same actor behind the modeling and motion capture. This can be a lore-game twin brother, just speculating.
This is long, but is just a theory... A GAME THEO... No, that's a trade mark. But is a fun horror-game theory I had for this new incoming but interesting character.
Note: Right now they don't look that similar but I'll have to wait and see the concept art/game character design to know if ny speculations are true. And see them both in gameplay to check if is true that, if they're the same model but different characters, and if they have close enough heights.
In the end, I'll wait for the lore and background of this character.

The SEC want SR-OCC-2024-001 rejected, and so do the 2.5k household investors who played a significant role in making that happen. If you want to join the thousands out there who champion market reform, why not submit your comment to make it happen. 🚨 ⏰ DEADLINE - TODAY! ⏰ 🚨
The SEC rejected this rule proposal, will you support them?
Don't let this opportunity pass you by, be the legend you are destined to become.

DEADLINE DAY - FRIDAY 17TH MAY, 2024.

Not only are the markets hotting up, but so are things in the regulatory field! 🔥
And you have been a big part in making that happen!

No seriously, you.

https://preview.redd.it/4paott41y11d1.png?width=2752&format=png&auto=webp&s=7e39c23e1de4867dbdcc29f81443b132890b4aed
Oh yeah, so when we first found out about SR-OCC-2024-00 - over 2.5k of you sent the SEC your comments to oppose this rule.

That's like, this many people:

2500 people
I mean, I know it looks small here - but imagine all those same people sat in a room.
It might look a little something like this:
Woah, now that's cool.
And let's not forget all those folk sitting up there in the balcony!

But it's impressive, right?

https://i.redd.it/a2cnccm1t11d1.gif
You know it. Nothing is more impressive than people putting in the effort to bring around meaningful change. And do you know what's even more impressive?
The SEC actually listened.
And turns out - seems the SEC actually agreed with us, and equally rejected rule: SR-OCC-2024-001:
https://i.redd.it/kizqtu9ft11d1.gif
Meaning all our efforts to address the rather pressing issue that the OCC seem to be putting safeguards in place to offset the risk of clearing member default is being addressed.
But now we have a shortening window to drive home this win.

And that starts with us.

It's Friday, and I know you're keen to kick start your weekend but please - consider taking two minutes out of your day to send a comment to the SEC, and then - your weekend is yours to enjoy.
Because even heroes need to enjoy some downtime.
https://i.redd.it/ft5yj4kyv11d1.gif

But before you do, lets look at some talking points you can mention in YOUR comment:

The SR-OCC-2024-00 rule - as found here: https://www.sec.gov/files/rules/sro/occ/2024/34-99393.pdf) outlines it's objectives within it's title, which are:
TITLE: The Options Clearing Corporation; Notice of Filing of Proposed Rule Change by The Options Clearing Corporation Concerning Its Process for Adjusting Certain Parameters in Its Proprietary System for Calculating Margin Requirements During Periods When the Products It Clears and the Markets It Serves Experience High Volatility,
And a little later in the text, it specifies this:
Clearing Agency’s Statement of the Terms of Substance of the Proposed Rules: This proposed rule change would codify OCC’s process for adjusting certain parameters in its proprietary system for calculating margin requirements during periods when the products OCC clears and the markets it serves experience high volatility.

BUT

When it comes down to the nitty gritty of how they actually intend to do this, all 205 pages of supporting evidence in SR-OCC-2024-001 are [REDACTED]
https://i.redd.it/br89hpszw11d1.gif
The supporting evidence for this rule includes various exhibits presented by the OCC, as outlined in the table of contents to justify their rule proposal.
You can find these here.
Yet - EVERY exhibit, and pages 58 - 263 are all REDACTED.
https://preview.redd.it/y7k8cca5w11d1.jpg?width=790&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=20cd29330c8108b0d8484268c031775ef27291bb

No seriously, like - check this out:

Where's all the information?
How is this even allowed?

🤷‍♀️ 🤷‍♂️❔Wanna know what this means?

This means that the OCC are proposing a rule in which will allow them to adjust the means in which they calculate margin thresholds - without publicly declaring ANY of the calculations.
I mean, how can we support such an important rule when all the information has been REDACTED.
So ask yourself:
Given that the rule proposal is to permit OCC the authority to modify margin requirements for Clearing Members, based on market conditions, by implementing high volatility control settings under its margin methodology - why we are not actually provided with specific details on how these parameters will be calculated?

Where is the transparency?

https://i.redd.it/zokv1tfoq11d1.gif
If you think this is as messed up as, well, most people do. Why not submit your comment to the SEC.
And here's how you can do it:

Subject: Concerns Regarding Proposed Rule Change SR-OCC-2024-001
Dear [rule-comments@sec.gov](mailto:rule-comments@sec.gov),
I am writing to express my concerns about SR-OCC-2024-001, titled “Proposed Rule Change by The Options Clearing Corporation Concerning Its Process for Adjusting Certain Parameters in Its Proprietary System for Calculating Margin Requirements During Periods When the Products It Clears and the Markets It Serves Experience High Volatility.”
I appreciate the opportunity to provide input on this matter. However, I cannot support the approval of this proposal due to several reasons:
  1. Lack of Transparency: The proposal contains significant redactions, preventing meaningful public review and comment.
  2. Systemic Risk: The OCC's proposal to reduce margin requirements for Clearing Members poses increased risk to the stability of our financial system. If clearing members cannot meet their financial obligations - they must close their bets.
  3. Conflict of Interest: The role of the Financial Risk Management Officer has an inherent conflict of interest to oversee both the well-being of Clearing Members as well as the agency itself.
  4. Moral Hazard: The proposal shifts the costs of Clearing Member defaults to the non-bank liquidity facility, creating a moral hazard and perpetuating an unfair marketplace.
  5. Inadequate Risk Management: The proposal fails to properly manage liquidity risk and increases systemic risk, as evidenced by the OCC's reliance on reducing margin requirements.
With note to the rejection reasons as put forward by the SEC in the dismissal of this rule:
  • Failure to promote prompt and accurate clearance and settlement of securities transactions and safeguard securities and funds.
  • Lack of clear and direct lines of responsibility in governance arrangements.
  • Inadequate policies and procedures to cover credit exposures to participants and insufficient margin calculation to cover potential future exposure.
In conclusion, I support the SEC in their rejection of this proposed rule change - to ensure the protection of all investors and the integrity of our financial markets.
Thank you for considering my concerns and for your continued help to protect our markets,
Sincerely,
Household investor.

To: [rule-comments@sec.gov](mailto:rule-comments@sec.gov)

Subject: Comments on SR-OCC-2024-001 34-100009

Dear Members of the Securities and Exchange Commission,
I am writing to express my concerns regarding Rule SR-OCC-2024-001, which proposes adjustments to margin thresholds, specifically during periods of high volatility.
This proposed adjustment is concerning because it essentially shifts the goalposts when clearing members are unable to meet their financial obligations. The necessity for margin calls in the first place is to prevent clearing members from overextending themselves on their bets, ensuring that they have adequate collateral to cover potential losses.
By adjusting margin thresholds during periods of high volatility, there is a risk that clearing members may not be required to maintain sufficient collateral, increasing the likelihood of default and destabilising the financial system.
This proposed adjustment raises critical questions about the integrity of the options market and the role of the Options Clearing Corporation (OCC) in managing risk.
The basis of this letter is equally to express support and appreciation to the SEC in their rejection of this rule, with supporting encouragement for this decision and future outcome.
The OCC, as the central counterparty for options and futures contracts traded on U.S. exchanges, plays a crucial role in ensuring the integrity of the options market. Its primary responsibility is to guarantee the fulfillment of contracts and manage the risk associated with trading these financial instruments.
Margin calls serve a crucial purpose in the financial system by acting as a safeguard against excessive risk-taking. They ensure that clearing members have adequate collateral to cover potential losses, thereby preventing them from overextending themselves on their bets. However, by allowing for adjustments to margin thresholds during periods of high volatility, there is a risk of undermining this fundamental principle.
In the context of financial jargon, this proposal effectively allows clearing members to "kick the can down the road" when it comes to meeting their financial obligations. It's akin to "moving the goalposts" in a high-stakes game, where the rules are changed to accommodate those struggling to keep up.
Imagine a scenario where a hedge fund has taken substantial positions on a volatile stock. As the stock price experiences wild fluctuations, the hedge fund might find itself increasingly unable to meet its margin requirements. Under Rule SR-OCC-2024-001, the margin thresholds could be adjusted, effectively lowering the bar for maintaining adequate collateral. This not only incentivises risky behavior but also exacerbates systemic risk, as it increases the likelihood of default later down the line.
Furthermore, such adjustments lack transparency and introduce an element of arbitrariness into the margin calculation process. Without clear guidelines and objective criteria for determining margin thresholds, there is a risk of favoritism or manipulation, further eroding market integrity.
The use of "idiosyncratic volatility control settings" to adjust these margin thresholds during high volatility introduces a risk because it lacks transparency in the calculation and implementation process. Without clear guidelines on how these settings are determined, there is a potential for arbitrary or ad-hoc adjustments, allowing the Options Clearing Corporation (OCC) to alter the criteria whenever Clearing Members require assistance. This flexibility raises concerns about fairness, as it may create an environment where the rules can be changed based on individual circumstances, potentially favouring certain market participants or introducing an element of unpredictability.
The proposal's supporting evidence, particularly regarding said calculation of margin thresholds, is troublingly redacted. This lack of disclosure undermines the principles of transparency and accountability that are crucial in regulatory frameworks. As stakeholders, we require detailed information on how these adjustments will be made to ensure fair and equitable treatment of all market participants.
This lack of transparency undermines the integrity of financial markets by eroding trust among participants. Financial markets thrive on clear and consistent rules that are applied uniformly to ensure a level playing field. When rules can be adjusted opaquely, it creates uncertainty and diminishes confidence in the regulatory framework. Maintaining trust is essential for the effective functioning of financial markets, and transparency in rule-making and enforcement is a key factor in upholding the integrity of the overall financial system.
Moreover, the proposal grants unchecked authority to the Financial Risk Management (FRM) Officer to make unilateral decisions during periods of high market stress. This authority, while ostensibly intended to protect the interests of the OCC, raises questions about potential conflicts of interest. The FRM Officer is entrusted with safeguarding both the OCC's interests and those of at-risk Clearing Members, creating a potential conflict that needs addressing and changing.
In conclusion, Rule SR-OCC-2024-001 poses a significant threat to the stability and integrity of the financial system. It undermines the fundamental purpose of margin calls and introduces unnecessary risks that could have dire consequences for market participants.
In light of these concerns, I urge the Securities and Exchange Commission to carefully reconsider this proposal and prioritise the protection of investors and the stability of the financial markets by rejecting Proposed Rule SR-OCC-2024-001. Clear guidelines, transparency in calculations, and checks and balances on discretionary authority are essential for maintaining the integrity and stability of the financial markets.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I trust that the SEC will carefully consider these concerns and take appropriate actions to address the potential risks associated with this rule.
Sincerely,
[APE]

2024.05.17 19:37 Oh-cee-dee13 Social anxiety getting better, but I still can’t keep friendships

I (M16) was a very extroverted child and had many friends. After the pandemic I developed really bad social anxiety and it got to the point where I literally had my headphones in all day at school and didn’t want to talk to anyone. I started taking meds earlier this year for my OCC and it hasn’t been helping with my OCD but it has helped with my social anxiety. I’ve only been on the pills for a few months but I’m hoping it will get better. My issue here is that I’ve basically lost contact with all of my friends and I’m beginning to feel lonely. Therapy is not helping at all, and I just want some new friends who I actually trust and can talk to without feeling awkward. Today I was hanging out with a few girls I knew from my school while volunteering at a food bank, and they were really nice to me and it felt natural talking to them. They even took selfies with me and it was a blast. I don’t know what happened but suddenly I started panicking and feeling awkward because it had been so long since I had a genuine connection with people my age. I tried my best to talk to them, even considering asking one of them for their insta or number, but I couldn’t get myself to do it and I started pacing because my social anxiety was going mad. I kinda wish they would’ve taken the lead and asked if I could hang out with them but maybe they felt shy about it too. I’m grateful that I at least talked to people and had a good time, but I really wished I could’ve done more. I feel super bad now and I physically don’t know what to do. Does anyone have tips, or has experienced something similar? I’m tired of scrolling through instagram and seeing all of my classmates having a social life while I just stay at home and keep to myself.

2024.05.17 14:56 Vegetable-Notice-535 How to fix WWE (only the parts I care about)

I got lazy towards the end but idc
Randy deserves to have the same amount of world championships as Ric and Cena. Probably not gonna happen but he has never been a part timer. His feud with the company was much better than Punks (his acting, the story, the shock of what he did). His feud with Cena was much better than Rocks (Rock comes back to fuel his ego, which is okay he does bring entertainment with him, but Randy and Cena were the same generation and definitely the hero and the villan). And his match with the Undertaker was one of the best of all time at such a young age. It was amazing to see, Randy kicked off Undertaker's Wrestlemania streak by showing that not even with the help of his father could he beat the phenom. To this day it is one of the greatest feuds of all time, and he did it at such a young age. Granted The Undertaker did push Randy's career a whole lot, but the dead man would not do it if he didn't see talent in him. After Cody's victory against Logan, It would be the perfect time for Randy to turn heel and have a ladder match against Cody for both of the titles in which Cody wins the United States Title In the first half. Cody would then go on to defend the title against John Cena at Wrestlemania, giving Cena the perfect ending to HIS story, and the "my time is up, your time is now, defend that title the way I would" moment...or something like that. Cody fulfilled his story, now it's time to fulfill his purpose, defending the title on RAW and Smackdown, paying tribute to Cena on the first episode of RAW after Wrestlemania by saying "YOU WANT SOME COME GET SOME" giving the guys from NXT a boost and opening windows for crazy returns or debuts. Cena can finally retire knowing he was beat by the best in the company. Cody is not ready to be a WORLD champion. His story was great and such an amazing experience, but as he said when one story ends, another one begins. He is the AMERICAN Nightmare, his tattoo is AMERICAN, his clothes are AMERICAN, he just needs that AMERICAN BELT, on which he can put those eagles that he wanted...AMERICAN. The title itself looks like shit at the moment anyways. The US title did way more for Cena's character than any world title. Kids looked up to him the same way they look up to Cody right now. It only makes sense for the two superman of two different generations to battle it out for the U.S title, and bring back it's worth after the last few champions. Obviously Cody would have lost the world title to Randy, this is where Cena would come in and judge him on that after what everyone did to help him get it, so if Cody would lose the US title to someone, it would be him. He could also say something like "Gotta hand it to ya, you beat everyone since your return, but I can't let you wear that belt until you beat me." I'm sure they can come up with a better reason as to WHY they would feud but it's the best way to send Cena to retirement instead of having him lose to SOLO or Roman OR having him team up with superstars that just don't need it. Don't get me wrong, Roman should go up against the best of the best but Cena is not a good opponent for him. Last time they were in a feud it was like they were fighting for nothing. Cody needs to stop coming out in suits and come out with his gear on, with the coat and shit so his image becomes memorable and he can be recognized on billboards and on covers of products. Cena can also call him out on that. After Cena passes the torch to Cody, Cody begins inspiring new generations to be kind, respectable, not be jackasses like the heels he's gonna face, and become a childhood hero to many. Now, how does Randy become a heel? Well Randy used to be one and he used to cheat alot to win. As mentioned before he got a lot of help from his daddy, he wasn't this big and scary, he snaked his way to victory like a true viper. Well ironically he got outsmarted by a version of himself, a spoiled entitled annoying Logan Paul, not once, but twice. Since his return he has been playing by the rules, beaten everyone including Drew McIntyre, only to get robbed in the end. So he's done playing by the rules and wants his title shot against Cody. He complains to Cody that he has been robbed by Logan, to which Cody describes Logan to Randy and says "Sounds like someone I used to know". Randy makes a classic annoyed heel face. Cody then being Cody pays respect to Randy's father saying he was a hero of his, that maybe he could have learned more from him instead of calling him to fight his battles for him. Randy gets angry and starts shouting at Cody, talking about how Dusty was never there for him, but was there for everybody else in the locker room. He gets in Cody's face jaw cletched veins popping and says "You wanna remind me who was there teaching you everything they know? You wanna remind me who lift you up on their shoulders when you won your first Universal Championship?". He calms down, gets closer to his ear (no homo) and says "I'm your real daddy"...Looking at this site, seeing Orton look down on Cody, being taller and bigger than him, we realize that Cody is faced with his first real threat, not AJ Styles(who lost at WM and got a title shot wtf), not Logan Paul (Cody said: gimme that title lil bro) but a ghost from his past, someone who he used to call a friend not too long ago, and someone who he knows VERY WELL how dangerous he is, someone who's diabolical doings he's witnessed first hand, is coming for his titles... and he is bigger, stronger, wiser, and has been cheated out of every major title opportunity and title match since his return. Future promotions would consist of Randy getting into Cody's head, making him remember the traumas that he caused him. Maybe an RKO to Cody's wife. Randy hearing voices and attacking his friend Owens, sending him to the hospital only to realize what he's done later. Cody saying something like he thought he wouldn't see that side of him again and telling the WWE universe that the voices are back etc. Now... match wise... Cody has beaten everyone he's faced, won the Royal Rumble twice. Randy was the rightful winner of an Elimination Chamber and a Fatal 4 Way. Don't remember if Logan cheated last match but he probably did idk. Not only is Orton protected by the cheating but his back hurts alot even tho he said he's at a 100% once but ig they changed the script. No matter. Instead of all these things being an excuse for losing. They become an excuse for winning with cheap shots and stuff. He can maybe win the way he beat Cena, making Cody complain about it and Cena calling him out on it. Nonetheless, Randy's back is injured, Cody's a victim of a cheap move by Randy, They split the titles, setting them up for a future rematch. Meanwhile somewhere else in WWE Judgment day just lost their last piece of gold to Drew. Damien starts blaming erryone. Finn Balor has had enough and goes demon mode on everyone. Blah blah blah fast forward The Demon wants his title back that he never lost.(idc what the rest of the judgment day do...rhea will probably go psycho ex on dom if she heals up idk). Randy already hearing voices gets tickled some more by The demon. Randy tickles Finn a lil. Maybe Finn respectfully leaves the judgment day but they still friends so Randy's voices tell him to do bad stuff to them and showcase it to Finn, or maybe Finn can remind Randy what he did to his friend Kevin and fuck with him some more. BTW since Jey doesn't need a title to be relevant, he just wins king of the ring, but we will have to give him something soon cuz that dance will get old. Jimmy could come through and win the intercontinental championship and rub it in Jey's face, Jey wins, at the end they hug eachother squashin their beef and you hear THE TRIBAL CHIEF RETURN. Jimmy is hyped, Jey is confused, Roman comes down alone with no Paul or anybody for the first time in years looking all serious and the show ends. Fast forward CM Punk wins the royal rumble and challenges guess who. CM Punk finished his story bla bla most predictable sht ever (sorry I just don't get why he special, he old, out of shape, gets injured all the time, what is he the best in the world at BROOOOOO?) But that's what most of the fans want so I wouldn't change it. So anyway, Jey is defending his title and SOLO and the other two cause him the title which pushes jey to join Roman. Roman is asking SOLO why he doing stuff he wasn't ordered to do and then the rock comes back bla bla PAUL HEYMAN is rescued by Roman from the bad bloodline oooOOooOoOooO. And we finally get Roman VS Rock. And I hope Rock doesn't steal the spotlight from his cousins nomore. Idc what the rest of them are doing but at some point in his career, Jey needs to get abs and muscles and take a world title from Roman and ONLY ROMAN. Logan Paul teams up with his fuckboy buddies and helps them retain the titles. R-Truth don't need a title to be special and Miz izzznt Miz right now. Finn wins the title at Wrestlemania from Randy aaaaaaand fast forward to next year at Wrestlemania 42 someone is Universal champion idk who and Cody is facing him for the championship BUT Randy cashes in weeks before Wrestlemania and becomes 16 time World Champion. Sharing the spotlight with the teacher and the hero...is the villan. He wrestled till he couldn't wrestle anymore.
Moral: Cody's reign has been boring Randy is known around the world by current wrestling fans, past wrestling fans, and people who haven't watched wrestling at all. His music ICONIC rko ICONIC matches ICONIC Cody is what kids wanna see We want Randy on Netflix doing controversial shit like kissing Cody's mom in front of him

2024.05.17 02:50 Darkblade51224 Wondering what people thought of this chapter. It's a bit long sry

It was dark, like the type of dark that you have to check your eyes by blinking. Only then you realize you can no longer tell whether your eyes are open or closed. The sky was calm and thin clouds streaked across the sky like a child had obtained a paint brush and some paint. Below this oddly peaceful sky was a home, more precisely it would be called a mansion. A dilapidated old home that hadn't seen use in many years. Strangely though it was guarded as if some old treasure may have existed inside.
The old decrepit home had a wall encircling it with a fancy ornate gate, depictions of bats and skulls made it feel more ominous though. Gargoyles watched the guards as they lazily stood in front of the gate, they had no sense of urgency.
"Hey mind if I just take a quick wink? Not like anyone's gonna come here there no point. There's nothing here but an old coffin and a corpse." One of the guards sighed as he leaned against the wall.
"Yeah, go ahead man. I'd rather not get in trouble with the captain though. He's scary." The second guard shivered as he thought of the new boss they'd recently been answering to.
"Ah, that kid? Come on he's not even like us he's just a Lithian brat. He was assigned his position to make us look good for 'that' person." His voice lowered as fear crept in while thinking about the man they wouldn't even speak the name of.
"Damn, we've gone and involved ourselves with scary people huh. Whatever imma. . . Just." With his sentence trailing of soon snores filled the air and a sigh from the sleeping man's companion. The mansion behind them watched eagerly at their relaxed attitudes, waiting hungrily for the intruders it expected. And it's hunger was satisfied as the sound of glass breaking cut through the night.
Quiet footsteps landed on a carpet, "how's it looking?"
"Cody. . . Shut the fuck up." Skarlet's face appeared in the light of her fire magic, a single finger raised with a flame on top.
"Hey sorry, but there's nobody here right besides who can stop us?"
"Cody, just come inside." Skarlet grabbed him by the hand and yanked him through the window. She then pushed it closed behind him. In the light of her fire he could see her tail flicking with annoyance.
"Sorry, it's just been a bit since it was just the two of us right. There was that fight with Ares but. . . You know never mind remember Christmas?" Cody smiled mischievously, though her response was a barely visible blush.
"You're a terrible cook." She frowned as she started walking down the hall.
"Ooh, my heart as a man has been injured. But hey you know that I was trying to recreate something from my homeland. Coco doesn't exist in this world though." His voice fell at the end of the sentence, a partial pout appeared in his expression for a moment before a flash of surprise as he skipped forward to catch up with her. It was as he was just about to reach her side when she turned.
"You're not too bad at consoling a crying girl though." A smirk accompanied that statement before she spun around once more and kept walking. Cody froze, a dumb look on his face, but he recovered quickly and chased after her. Skarlet was blushing deeply, she even put out her flame to hide it. Damnit, why'd I say that. This stupid guy. . . Ugh the goal. . . We came here for a reason.
"You're much more social than when we first met. Didn't you try to kill me to keep me from getting close to you. What changed, little misfortunate." Cody asked with a teasing tone.
"Nothing Dumbass, I just realized I couldn't push you away cause you were stronger than me. Better keep up, hero if I surpass you in strength I'll end our partnership." Skarlet's voice shook at the end of her statement. If it was back then, it would've been firm, but she couldn't shake the emotions she'd been feeling more recently. She had to admit that she enjoyed his company, he was a dependable friend. Damn, why are my cheeks so hot.
"Here I found it!" Skarlet spoke up, breaking the conversation off forcefully. She was pointing to a staircase, Cody stepped up to the edge and looked down.
"Problem, um there's no steps only a case." Cody pointed out as he glanced at her out of the corner of his eye. She was staring at him in exasperation.
"Was that supposed to be a joke?" She sighed as he avoided eye contact and stepped off the edge.
"Um, I guess." He said while rubbing the back of his head and smiling awkwardly. Skarlet landed beside him with a chuckle and punched him in the shoulder.
"Come on let's go, dummy." She led the way further down, occasionally they had to leap down entire cases that were missing steps. But soon they reached the basement. Four stories and five flights, it was a very big house. They walked in silence as they approached a room at the back of the basement. It was a tomb, definitely. There was stone double doors, at there center was a black widow on a spiderweb. The split between the doors cut the window in half.
Skarlet stepped forward and pushed open the door, a draft of air escaped desperately leading her hair and skirt to flutter curiously.
Thud
The doors made a pretty loud sound as they clicked into place. There was a stone coffin placed in the center, the room however was set up almost like a set in an old Gothic play. A large bed, the colors were red and black. A bookcase on one wall and a fireplace on the other. The biggest out of place thing though was a massive rotating magic circle. It seemed to be made of a red viscous liquid and was floating off the ground by a couple inches. It was surrounding the coffin as blood red chains erupted from the magic circle and wrapped the coffin.
"Um, hehe hey don't you think this looks like a bad Idea actually. Maybe we have the wrong house." Cody joked anxiously as he stepped into the room behind Skarlet who was approaching the coffin.
"No this, this is right I think. It is just very elaborate, we'll have to carry her out. Get ready they'll know we're here when I break the seal." Skarlet explained as she stepped into the magic circle. It coiled around her like she was walking through a shallow pond. "Sapphire told us that she'll be groggy and confused when she wakes up, we'll have to protect her as we get her out of here.
As she approached the coffin she pulled out a dagger and stabbed it into the center of it, where the red chains all clustered together. The dagger was a normal looking blade, but the guard was a golden carved black widow with a ruby in the abdomen.
Her ears laid flat as her tail lashed anxiously with the massive mana wave that erupted outwards. Lastly, as if the stone prison before her wanted to give off one more ounce of flair the lid shattered into particles of black and red and trickled down the sides to mix with the blood pooling in the carpet around the coffin. The magic circle had been made from actual blood.
Though Skarlet froze, she seemed to have seen something in the coffin that greatly confused or surprised her. Cody frowned as he approached, he peered over her shoulder and gasped, he understood. The coffin contained a skeleton, the inhabitant had been dead awhile.
"Wait, what the hell, that that no that can't be what?" Skarlet reached into the coffin and lifted the skeleton before dropping it, the clattering of bones was chilling.
"So. . . What do we do now? I don't think Sapphire has a plan B." Cody sighed as he turned to the room. He started to approach the bed when he noticed something. "Um hey Skarlet, we're looking for an Older sister correct. And specifically one that's been sealed for the last ten years right." Cody spoke as he noticed someone in the bed.
"What the. . . That's a kid." Skarlet frowned as she approached the bed and pulled the covers aside to reveal a young girl in a classic Gothic Lolita dress. She was hugging a very traditional teddy bear with obviously sewed on bat wings. But most importantly, she was sound asleep.
"We can't leave her here right? This place is about to become a battle ground. I'm pretty sure she's human right, when I was with Sapphire I could sense that she was a monster and not a human. But this girl just feels normal." Skarlet was pondering when sound rang out upstairs.
"Damn their coming." Skarlet began shaking the young girl lightly as she pulled her into a sitting position. The girl groggily opened her eyes and yawned then they widened as she saw them. "Hello dear, we need to go, can you come with us for a little. It's gonna get dangerous." Skarlet held out her hand and the girl took it with sparkling eyes. Skarlet smiled awkwardly as she realized the girl was staring at her ears. "I'll let you touch them if you come with us ok." Skarlet led her by the hand as Cody drew his sword and they stepped out into the basement. It was still empty but the sound of feet and voices upstairs led them to move quickly.
On the first floor Cody stepped out from the stairs and into the hall. A shout brought his attention to a group of guards that immediately ran at him.
"Damn, stay back you two." Cody grumbled as he brought his hand up and cast light spear, chanting under his breath as he brought his sword in front of him. A ball of light appeared and morphed into a spear as he chanted then it launched at his opponents. Two of the guards got speared almost instantly.
"Shit these guys are strong, one of the remaining guards spoke up as he suddenly skidded to a stop along with his companies. They tossed their swords to the ground, Cody grinned awkwardly as he realized what was happening. He began making strides towards them breaking into a run he impaled one of the group as the other two began to change.
Cody ripped his sword out of the guard and let his body fall, the sword he held glowed with a soft white light and that glow reflected off the blood making the scene feel more red than it should have normally as he turned around and leaped at his two new opponents. They were werewolves, he cast a light spell called illuminate and the two reacted by recoiling. Cody slid under the outstretched claws of the first one and leaped upwards slashing from the beast's stomach all the way to the neck and straight out the jugular. Then with a round house kick, he smashed his heel into the side of it's head and sent it careening into it's companion who yelped in surprise. Cody then blasted a hole through both of them with another light spear.
As he finished the sound of clapping echoed out. Cody felt a bit of embarrassment as the little girl behind Skarlet had started clapping. Cody sighed and led the way towards the front door, they cleared out a couple more groups but for the most part went unchallenged till he pushed open the front door to reveal that there was a large troop stationed in the yard.
"Damn, is that old man this afraid of Ruby?" Skarlet muttered as she gazed at the large mob in front of her. "alright, upsy daisy." Skarlet lifted the girl and had her sit in her arm while holding onto Skarlet's neck. Skarlet drew her sword and held it one handed.
"Intruders, we can't let you leave. Where's Ruby!" A man looking like the leader approached.
"Sorry man, I don't know." Skarlet replied as a smile slipped onto her face. Suddenly she was in front of him as she dashed, dragging her sword across his waist she split him in half leaped and kicked his torso back at his own troops. There was a look of surprise permanently etched on his face. "Come on Cody, let's take this fuckers out."
"Skarlet, your carrying a child think you could maybe be less gruesome?" Cody's plea went unheard as she delved into battle. He sighed once more feeling himself growing older he leaped forward as well.
Skarlet hacked and slashed a path through the guards, she twisted, jumped, and ducked to avoid attacks targeting the girl in her arms. Cody was right behind her slicing through his own opponents. At this point he had a look of annoyance and exasperation in his face as he watched the blood covered black cat girl have her fun. "When did she start to enjoy fighting so much?" He realized he hadn't noticed this emerging tendency of hers.
Suddenly Skarlet had the area around her cleared out as a figure approached. He held a sword that Cody recognized, a katana. He was dressed in a gladiator style outfit with a cape. There was no smile on his face though he didn't look like a showman. The guards had backed away and even seemed to tremble.
"Captain, it's the captain."
"Hey, why'd y'all stop I thought it was getting good. There's enough of you for me to. . . Oh you look fun." Skarlet smiled as she looked at the man in front of her. A Fox Lithian that reeked of the blood he'd split throughout his life.
"Cody, take her." Skarlet spoke seriously as she handed the girl to Cody.
Skarlet then stepped forward and gripped her sword tightly. In an instant they closed in on each other, a loud bang rang out as they crossed blades. "Ha, damn I thought I was no longer a human with the strength I wield. That no singular opponent could match me. But this is gonna be fun." Skarlet smiled as she let her emotions out, a built up rage and fear filled her blade as a series of clashes rang out. Though her smile began to slip as pain blossomed in her side. Something wet splatter in the dirt. "Shit." Skarlet leaned back as the boy's sword barely grazed her neck.
"You can't beat me you're not at that level yet, cat." The boy explained as he calmly dealt with her frantic and chaotic attacks. She spun around and brought a kick to the side of his head, a thud exploded out as she came into contact with his forearm that had blocked. He then grabbed her leg and flipped her, she hit the dirt with a thud and immediately kicked the ground so she rolled away as a blade stabbed into the ground where her head used to be. Her fear had melted into her blade she felt nothing but exhilaration even as blood soaked into her shirt and dripped down her leg.
She leaped to her feet and pointed her sword at him, a serious expression on her face as she leaped at him with a large overhead strike. Mana erupted throughout her sword as a black fire erupted along her blade encasing it in a threatening appearance and aura.
She brought her sword down and the boy swung his sword almost like one would swing a rapier in a contest of beauty. Elegant and swift movements, he made it seem like it was weightless as he partied her sword to the side and twirled his blade around before piercing her chest.
"Skarlet!!" Cody exclaimed as he watched the blade rip out her back, blood dripping off its tip. The boy, smiled as he looked into her eyes.
"Skarlet, it matches your fiery eyes. My name is Gordon and I'm the one who killed you." He seemed truly happy. He even began to laugh but that froze on his face as he watched her mouth from a smile. It parted slightly and blood poured down her chin. A sharp pain stabbed his side as her sword sliced into him, a scowl lit his face as the blade carved through him with ease and ripped through his throat. Then with a bloody, choking laugh she kicked him away and let the blade slide back out of her chest.
Gordon hit the ground, her blade had carved a jagged path from his side, to his neck. Affectively amputating his arm, he was bleeding a lot, far more than her as she cast a healing spell. Her face scrunched in pain as her body began rearranging and reassembling the wound.
She then turned and wiped the blood from her lips as she placed her sword on her shoulder and grinned at Cody. "Damn that bastard was good." Cody sighed.
"Hahaha, victory must feel nice." Gordon laughed as he sat up. Blood was starting to slither and move around him. His body was pulling itself back together as he got to his feet. His sword was bleeding, no more accurately, it was eating her blood and healing him it seemed. "Girl, that was damn insane. You're literally crazy, who deliberately takes an attack that could kill them just to create an opening. Haha, not that I'm going to fall for it again. Come on try and kill me imma get serious now. This is gonna scar you know." He held his sword in a different stance as the blood coalesced on the blade and formed a larger scary blade made of blood. His sword looked more like a scimitar now or possibly a sword with an ax on the end of it. Then he dashed at her, Skarlet felt dread, but still fear escaped her. She looked down the jaws of death and smiled.
"Come on, let's go!"

Generalists vs Specialists

Owen is a generalist since his body can survive a lot in eating challenges, combat challenges, survival challenges, anything except intelligence challenges.
Gwen is a generalist since she's good at everything except maintaining relationships which doesn't matter for challenges.
Heather won immunity so many times, she is a generalist having the brains, the flexibility, the body, etc.
Duncan is a generalist. Like Gwen, he sucks at maintaining relationships, but doesn't factor to how he's the lone MVP of the Killer Bass, the only Killer Bass to win a total drama season (sorry Geoff I don't count RR)
Leshawna got the sociability, the fighting power, can eat a lot, they really packed a lot of good qualities in this character.
Geoff is a generalist, being calm minded, strong, just Owen without the tankiness. Still good at eating challenges though.
Izzy is a generalist, she knows how to survive, how to fight Chef, good at so many challenges, her loco personality is what brings her down.
Bridgette is also a generalist. Like Duncan said, she's good at sports, fairly intelligent, a threat in the game. Just Bridgette sucks at survival and eating challenges
Courtney is a generalist. I forgot to bring up, generalists don't tend to be dominant in a specific area. Abusive leadership and getting Duncan, DJ, and Geoff in a Killer Bass alliance to snipe Eva, Sadie, and Tyler isn't part of the challenges.
Beth is a generalist. She is so average, she wetn under the radar in total drama action, and somehow made it to the final 2.
Cody is a generalist. He is crafty and quick thinking, but I am not sure he has a specific dominant strength. He is ok in challenges.
As for the specialists we have
DJ, he's dominant in cooking challenges and would have gotten immunity and cut 8 minutes of the TDA pet episode if he didn't quit early on.
Lindsay, she is good in fashion, fairly intelligent when dealing with make up, but a deadweight everywhere else. She is more than a dumbass, but she still is a dumbass.
Trent, he's only good in music. He is fairly mediocre in challenges being a pain magnet, and would have rocked total drama world tour if his personality wasn't killed in total drama action.
Eva, outside of beating the living crap out of any living thing, including sasquatches, and having the strength of hulk, she is a nuisance. A nuisance in the sense she'll gamer rage and use her hulk strength on her own team.
Harold, he has a couple mad skills in his toolkit. These mad skills have been seen. He's meh in so many types of challenges if he doesn't have mad skills in them. But he becomes a force to be reckoned with if his mad skills are usable. He is the closest the specialists have to a generalist.
Katie and Sadie. I don't even know if they thrive in something aside from team motivation. They would've rocked in the ridonculous race.
Tyler. He's got wicked strong fingers. These fingers have saved his team from death in TDWT. Aside from being a pain magnet and always being injured, he has his jock moments. But they're rare, and when they happen, it can be game breaking.
Justin, sexy man. His only thing is his looks, he's bout to charm anyone with those pupils(Caleb should've gotten pupils in his design). But outside of looks, Justin is a deadweight as seen in total drama action. Injuries make him a free vote.
Noah, the big brain. He is good at solving puzzles, figuring out who is manipulating who way before others can find out, can outsmart many people. It's just Noah is too unlikable for people to even see how smart he can be.
Ezekiel, the guy with wasted potential. He probably has the aim of a hawk with his hunting skills(ignore the fact he accidentally shot his mom), and knows 8 languages. I think the Killer Bass would've won dodgebrawl if he didn't get the first boot. He's a dead weight everywhere else though, making mistakes with his words and getting punished for it.

Operational Efficiency Shares: Rehypothecating 🐇🐇🐇🐇 And Breaking Free Of Chains [WalkThrough] (4/n)
From the prior DD in this series [1], we know that ComputerShare can “give” the DTC registered DSPP shares to hold onto for operational efficiency which are then “given back” as shares beneficially owned “for the benefit of” (“FBO”) DSPP Plan Participants at ComputerShare, as illustrated in this diagram:
From The Prerequisite DD
It’s time to explore what “operational efficiency” benefits may be gained by DSPP shares going around this roundabout. At first glance, shares are basically just going in a big circle from DSPP Plan Participants with registered ownership DSPP shares at ComputerShare heading to the DTC, who hands shares to ComputerShare’s broker who maintains those shares for the benefit of ComputerShare who holds those shares for the benefit of Plan Participants. While I think it’s unlikely that shares just go around in a big fat circle for no reason, I do remember people getting onto flights to literally go nowhere a few years ago [CNN, NYT]; so maybe these operational efficiency shares simply miss hanging out at the DTC?
Let’s look more closely… While title is held by a registered DSPP Plan Participant, ComputerShare is giving the DTC possession [1] of registered DSPP shares to the DTC to hold for operational efficiency which then ultimately end back in the possession of ComputerShare’s broker (who isn’t lending out shares) for the benefit of ComputerShare for the benefit of Plan Participants. If we treat the DTC’s operations as a big black box, we see registered shares going into the DTC black box and beneficially owned shares coming out of the black box to ComputerShare for Plan Participants.
DTCC Black Box: Inputs vs Outputs
Investopedia says that shareholders have rights, with a list of 6 main rights including:
  1. Voting power on major issues.
  2. Ownership in a portion of the company.
  3. The right to transfer ownership.
  4. Entitlement to dividends.
  5. Opportunity to inspect corporate books and records.
  6. The right to sue for wrongful acts.
By contrast, beneficial owners only need to have or share 2 of those rights (bolded) according to the definition of beneficial owner in Rule 13d-3: the power to vote and the power to dispose of the security (e.g., sell).
§ 240.13d-3 Determination of beneficial owner.
(a) For the purposes of sections 13(d) and 13(g) of the Act a beneficial owner of a security includes any person who, directly or indirectly, through any contract, arrangement, understanding, relationship, or otherwise has or shares:
(1) Voting power which includes the power to vote, or to direct the voting of, such security; and/or,
(2) Investment power which includes the power to dispose, or to direct the disposition of, such security.
ComputerShare basically confirms this list (except for the right to sue as that’s probably not one their issuer customers would emphasize) and adds that beneficially held shares may be lent by brokers generally (but not by ComputerShare’s broker).
Registered Shareholder Rights vs Beneficial Owner Rights
Maybe you’ve had different experiences from me, but I’ve never known Wall St to deliver more than the bare minimum they’re contractually obligated to. Which means the DTC black box is very likely watering down shareholder rights from the 6 that go in down to the 2 which come out. (And yet, we’re supposed to believe that all shares are equal. 🙄)
Dividends (#4 on the list) [2] may be the clearest example of a watered down shareholder right. Registered shareholders have the right “to directly receive share dividends” [CS FAQ] which means if a company (e.g., GameStop or OverStock) issues a dividend, registered shareholders have the right to directly receive the dividend as issued. If the company issues a crypto dividend (as OverStock tried to do), registered shareholders have the right to directly receive the issued crypto dividend. Beneficial shareholders would get an issued dividend, if available, or a cash equivalent if not. Historically, stock and other dividends to beneficial shareholders could easily be delivered as a cash equivalent, a watered down form. Crypto dividends don’t scale well with shorts (both naked and legal via, for example, share lending and borrowing) because crypto tokens are unique which makes it abundantly clear why a crypto dividend was nixed for a heavily shorted idiosyncratic stock like GameStop; especially given GameStop’s particularly active shareholders.
Ownership (#2 on the list) may be the second clearest example of a watered down shareholder right as more security interests to shares exist in the DTC’s beneficial ownership system than there are shares; with the SEC saying beneficial shares get a pro rata interest in the securities of that issue held by DTC. [See End Game Part Deux: Problems at the DTCC plus The Bigger Picture, particularly the section “The Pie Is Shrinking: Get Out (And DRS) While You Can”]
Voting (#1 on the list) is also an example watered down shareholder right; this one having a long history on this sub with, for example, BroadRidge tossing 7B votes and bragging about it. (Beneficial owners only need to get shared voting rights per Rule 13d-3 above so those 7B “shared” votes just lost out to who they shared with.) Unlike other beneficially held shares, voting rights for DSPP shares are not watered down as ComputerShare sends registered holders their voting forms.

Operational Efficiency Shares, Whatcha Doing In There?

A big black box is a pretty good description of the DTC which does not want us to know the ins and outs of what’s going on. Black holes are a pretty good example of a big black box and, most importantly, we know a lot about black holes even though they can’t be directly observed. Just as we learned about black holes without direct observation, we can similarly learn a lot about the Operational Efficiency shares even though we can’t directly observe them in the DTC habitat.
Even though we can’t look inside the DTC’s big black box, it turns out we don’t really have to in order to identify some benefits from these operational efficiency shares taking their roundabout trip to nowhere.
Locates A few commenters have suggested that OE shares could be used for locates so I’ll address this first. Possible, yes. But I don’t view this as the most interesting use for OE shares. Brokers are supposed to “locate” securities available for borrowing before short selling. [Wikipedia)] Basically, before selling short a broker is supposed to find a source to borrow. The “locate” requirement does NOT require the security to be borrowed before short selling which can result in a legal naked short.
You may be wondering why I don’t view “locates” as particularly interesting for OE shares if short sellers need to locate shares to borrow before shorting. Well, market makers are also exempt from this requirement as long as they’re market making. 🙄 On top of the market maker exemption, remember House Of Cards? In House Of Cards 3 [SuperStonk], we learned about the now 🤦‍♂️ hilarious F**3 key **- yeah, the one on a keyboard. Brokers like Goldman found the locate requirement simply too much work so they would press the F3 key and their system would auto-approve the locate requirement based only on the number of shares available to borrow at the beginning of the day; regardless of whether those shares were still available to borrow or not.
House Of Cards 3
Meaning as long as there were some shares available to borrow at the beginning of the day for their share copying system, brokers could just smash the F3 key to make as many copies of shares as they need. Even if only 1 share was available to borrow at the beginning of the day, a broker could simply smash the F3 key 100 times to approve the locate requirement for 100 shares.
So while OE shares could be used for locates, they wouldn’t need many shares each day to make an unlimited number of copies - even just 1 is enough.
Lending shares on the other hand…
Rehypothecation Rehypothecation is the reuse of customer collateral for lending. Per a 2010 IMF Working Paper, The (sizable) Role of Rehypothecation in the Shadow Banking System,
Rehypothecation occurs when the collateral posted by a prime brokerage client (e.g., hedge fund) to its prime broker is used as collateral also by the prime broker for its own purposes.
This IMF paper defined a “churning factor” to measure how many times an asset may be reused; and then estimated a churning factor of 4 noting that it could be higher because international banks (e.g., HSBC and Nomura) were not sampled. This IMF paper found a single asset may be lent and borrowed 4 times, or more; an average which could be higher globally.
https://preview.redd.it/ymr3j03zri0d1.png?width=795&format=png&auto=webp&s=1555314cefd520658a4f78dc4745867063e3bf34
Churn Factor Could Be Higher Globally
How much higher? We may have seen a churn factor as high as 10 for a less idiosyncratic meme stock per my prior post, Estimating Excess GME Share Liquidity From Borrow Data & Churn Factor. Presumably, the idiosyncratic meme stock would have a higher churn factor (but not that important for this post).
More recently (2018), the Federal Reserve published this Fed Note on The Ins and Outs of Collateral Re-use studying how often collateral is reused (i.e., rehypothecated) for Treasury & non-Treasury securities [3] with a beautiful figure illustrating how “for any given moment in time, one security can be attributed to multiple financial transactions” where a share could be posted multiple times through Security Financing Transactions (SFTs) and sold short. [4] Sounds familiar, right?
https://preview.redd.it/zsztmji4si0d1.png?width=1530&format=png&auto=webp&s=f222dfe50929f668af8f8f0b39514a7d862db9c9
Figure 6c of this Fed Note shows a Collateral Multiplier over time illustrating how “PDs [Primary Dealers] currently re-use about three times as many securities as they own for non-Treasury collateral and seven times as many securities as they own for U.S. Treasury securities”.
AKA \"Money Multiplier\"
The Fed Note describes their Collateral Multiplier as a “money multiplier” (Seriously, I couldn’t have made this up in a million years.),
In a sense, our Collateral Multiplier is akin to a "money multiplier," as it compares private liabilities created by a firm with the amount of specific assets held to create those liabilities. [The Ins and Outs of Collateral Re-use]
And, of course, the Collateral Multiplier aka “money multiplier” ratio goes up when there’s less collateral available and down when there’s more collateral available. (Can I get one of these multipliers?)
Intuitively, we expect the ratio to increase when collateral is scarce and to decrease when collateral is more abundant.
Which means Primary Dealers [Wikipedia has a list of familiar names including Deutsche Bank, JP Morgan, Morgan Stanley, Nomura, BofA, Citigroup, TD, UBS, and Wells Fargo; amongst others] can simply kick securities around a few extra times (e.g., with SFTs and short sells) to effectively multiply the amount of money and/or collateral they have any time they need it. (Within limits, I hope…)
Thus, rehypothecation is a very interesting use of Operational Efficiency shares from ComputerShare as various primary dealers can simply “multiply” the number of shares they have – a concept that we’re already quite familiar with. As rehypothecation, short sells, and securities financing transactions are all perfectly legal, rehypothecating more GameStop shares provided to the DTC via operational efficiency satisfies Ground Rule #2 [defined in (1/n) in this series],
  1. All parties involved are all generally attempting to operate within the bounds of the laws and regulations wherever possible. (I know we often scream “crime”, but why break a law when money can simply [re]write laws to make activities legal. Regulatory failure is the reason why something that should be criminal, isn’t. And regulatory failure happens when armies of lawyers are paid to create and exploit loopholes so that actions which should be criminal, are instead legal.)
We can update our conceptual model to include rehypothecation to more clearly illustrate how Operational Efficiency shares held in the DTC can be rehypothecated (e.g., with SFTs and short sells) until a watered down share is delivered to ComputerShare’s broker to hold FBO ComputerShare, who holds the watered down share FBO DSPP Plan Participants.
https://preview.redd.it/bt3gnx99si0d1.png?width=4764&format=png&auto=webp&s=7b0b72b935f740e8a3036f88e1a4e1dfb57dd46c
You might notice from this illustration that ComputerShare has been telling the truth satisfying Ground Rule #1 [defined in (1/n) in this series]. Neither ComputerShare’s nor their broker lend or need to lend shares. All the rehypothecation happens “upstream” amongst other DTCC and NSCC Participants until shares are finally delivered to ComputerShare’s broker at the end of the “Churn Chain”. ComputerShare has made no representations about what the DTC can or can not do with the shares in their possession. And, realistically, ComputerShare is in no position to make any representations about what happens within the DTCC system – ComputerShare is only responsible for themselves and, to some extent, their broker.
The Fed Note and IMF paper found assets may be churned and reused 3-4 times (overall market average) which means the end of the chain is typically around D3 or D4. (If my prior DD estimates are correct, there were signs a less idiosyncratic meme stock may be churned up to 10 times ending the chain at D10 which suggests a potentially longer chain for GME, the idiosyncratic meme stock.) If there is no collateral reuse for an asset, the chain would have zero length meaning Operational Efficiency shares go straight from the DTC directly to ComputerShare’s broker. (Programmers almost certainly understand zero length chains very well – go find one if you need an explanation.)
GameStop is idiosyncratic, thus atypical. Per the IMF paper, collateral reuse increases when collateral is scarce and decreases when collateral is abundant (quoted above). If we consider GameStop investors have been direct registering shares (i.e., DRS) and registering shares (e.g., DSPP) thereby removing title and/or possession of shares from the DTC/DTCC/Cede & Co, then GameStop share availability has been becoming more scarce and the “Churn Chain” for GME should be longer than average representing a higher collateral multiplier and churn value.
While we may not know the exact length of the Churn Chain for GameStop shares, we can pretty well surmise that it’s not a zero length Churn Chain where there is no collateral reuse based simply on scarcity. After all, a shortage of available shares is, by definition, required for any short squeeze (including MOASS). Requests by brokers to enable Share Lending [5] is another example indicator that GameStop shares are scarce.
In addition, according to Investopedia [6], “Banks, brokers, or other financial institutions may navigate a liquidity crunch and access capital by rehypothecating client funds” and we’ve seen indicators showing us banks are in deep trouble:
The downside to rehypothecation is the higher leverage increases risks of default and a single collapse can start a chain reaction knocking down others like dominos.
There are also leverage considerations that increase that risk of default. Overleveraged investments often face covenants; when specific conditions are met, trading accounts may receive a margin call or face debt default. As a row of dominos fall after a single collapse, a single margin call may cause other debts to fail their account maintenance requirements, setting off a chain reaction that places the institution at higher risk of overall default. [6]
This risk for rehypothecation sounds exactly like what the Options Clearing Corporation was complaining about to the SEC when the OCC Proposed Reducing Margin Requirements To Prevent A Cascade of Clearing Member Failures [SuperStonk] early 2024. If the OCC can eliminate margin calls, then no dominos get knocked down. (Thankfully, apes have done a phenomenal job in convincing the SEC that this OCC proposal is a very bad idea. Support the SEC’s rejection of this as Simians Smash SEC Rule Proposal To Reduce Margin Requirements To Prevent A Cascade of Clearing Member Failures!)
Most importantly, it may be tough to regain possession of an asset when someone in the rehypothecation chain defaults. Remember from the prior DD the expression about possession: Possession is nine-tenths of the law.
Clients must be aware of rehypothecation as it is technically their own assets that have been pledged for someone else's debt. This creates complicated creditor issues where an investors shares may longer be in their possession due to their custodian's default. [6]
We know assets are rehypothecated 3-4 times on average, GameStop shares are scarce, banks are in trouble, stock loan volume is skyhigh, and the risks of rehypothecation are real. So it’s pretty clear that rehypothecation is happening generally with pretty darn good reason to expect GameStop’s Churn Chain is at least of non-zero length (i.e., GameStop stock is being rehypothecated).

Breaking The Chains

While some may like chains and being tied up, I’m not one of those apes. Especially as a Churn Chain waters down my shareholder rights and may make regaining possession of DSPP stock difficult in the event of a cascade of defaults, as warned by the OCC. (If you like chains, feel free to skip this section.)
As it turns out, we don’t need to know exactly how long the Churn Chain is for GameStop stock. Simply knowing a Churn Chain exists with non-zero length means there is a chain. Where there is a chain, it’s possible to break the chain. (Even if you don’t know how much health) your enemy has in a game, you still try to take your enemy out. Right?)
A churn chain that starts from ComputerShare holding DSPP shares in DTC for operational efficiency can easily be broken as “[a]n investor can, at any time, withdraw all or part of their shares in DSPP book-entry form and have them added to their DRS holding”. [ComputerShare] See also [7]. Quite possibly one of the easiest chains in the world to break as the Churn Chain is weak to DRS. Simply DRS the DSPP shares to take away the head of the chain and the rest of the chain falls apart. (And, DRS-ing "street name" shares cuts chains into pieces too!)
One side effect of breaking a Churn Chain is that all shares attributed to transactions in a broken chain (e.g., SFTs and short sells) need to be reallocated to other chains, effectively making other chains longer and increasing the risks from a default.
Analogy: Think of the shares as a deck of cards. If you deal 52 cards to 4 players (A, B, C and D), each player gets 13 cards. Each stack of 13 cards is basically a Churn Chain. But if you take out a stack by removing the bottom card from A and distribute the remaining 12 cards from A to B, C and D then B, C and D each now have 17 cards. If at any given time a card can cause a player to lose the game, it's better to have fewer cards than more. And, the players who get out early won't lose.
Any party in the Churn Chain who defaults will make it hard for the original owner to regain possession. Longer chains include more transactions and more parties so there’s more risk of default on longer chains than shorter chains. Thus we see another vicious cycle setup where incentives are aligned such that DSPP and beneficial shareholders may want to avoid the impending default and rehypothecation risk from their shares being held in DTC. In order to avoid the impending default and rehypothecation risks, shareholders are incentivized to Directly Register shares to ensure having both title and possession. (Shares held in “street name” have little or no protection from rehypothecation risk and simply registering shares in DSPP doesn’t guarantee possession [1].) As with the other vicious cycle, any remaining shareholders in DTC share a shrinking pie of diluted ownership so it is in their best interest to get out and DRS; thereby shrinking the diluted ownership pie even more which is more reason for remaining shareholders to get out. These vicious cycles will eventually leave few, if any, remaining shares at the DTC for beneficial shareholders. Nobody knows what will happen if this ♾️🏊 happens.

Footnotes

[1] If you haven’t already, please read the prerequisite DD in this WalkThrough Series to understand how ownership of property is separated into two concepts: title and possession. [See, e.g., StackExchange] Understanding the differences between title and possession are particularly important here where it’s worth being extra careful identifying how an entity is in control of an asset.
  1. DSPP is technically different from DRS [WalkThrough] (1/n)
  2. Definitely DIFFERENT "DRS Counts" [WalkThrough] (2/n)
[2] Dividends have been heavily discussed on SuperStonk with many DD posts, including for OverStock and the precedent OverStock set which would have allowed GameStop to issue their own crypto dividend, possibly as an NFT.
[3] Footnote 16 of the Fed Note itemizes various classes of non-Treasury collateral which includes equity which, per Investopedia, is a synonym for stocks.
[4] While short selling is pretty well known, Security Financing Transactions (SFTs) may be more obscure despite discussion of them in the past so here’s some historical SuperStonk links for you (where you may notice some well known OG DD apes):
[5] Simply search SuperStonk for share lending. Don’t make me Google That For You.
[6] https://www.investopedia.com/ REMOVE_FOR_AUTOMOD terms/r REMOVE_FOR_AUTOMOD /rehypothecation.asp
[7] Withdrawing whole DSPP shares into DRS seems to make a lot of sense as doing so guarantees possession. Selling fractionals, less so. If you intend to keep buying, I would think adding to the fractionals to later withdraw whole shares makes more sense. As for the concern about fractionals tainting the whole account, I’ll cover that in another post. For now, you do you.

The Undraftables: Week 6 Update (Going into/during Week 7)
This challenge was initially undertook with the NBA and it was fun, so decided to extend it to MLB as well. The rules are simple: Cannot select any player who has an Average Draft Position (ADP), regardless of how high or low it may be. Even if a player's ADP is 250+, they are off-limits if they have any average draft position. The draft took place on Sunday, April 7th. Admittedly, this was after the start of the season, but my focus had been primarily on the NBA season, leaving me with limited time to prepare for baseball. Nevertheless, managed to squeeze in most of my MLB prep work within a few days/week. This is a standard 12 team head to head category league on yahoo with 6 adds per week. The buy-in was lower than my usual, but not free (inactivity and too easy).
Here was the draft results:
  1. (6) Lance McCullers Jr. (HOU - SP)
  2. (19) Drew Rasmussen (TB - SP)
  3. (30) Dustin May (LAD - SP)
  4. (43) Ronel Blanco (HOU - SP,RP)
  5. (54) Brady Singer (KC - SP)
  6. (67) Paul Blackburn (OAK - SP)
  7. (78) Cody Bradford (TEX - SP,RP)
  8. (91) Chad Green (TOR - RP)
  9. (102) Steven Matz (STL - SP,RP)
  10. (115) Tanner Houck (BOS - SP)
  11. (126) Tyler Anderson (LAA - SP)
  12. (139) Spencer Turnbull (PHI - SP)
  13. (150) Connor Joe (PIT - 1B,OF)
  14. (163) José Caballero (TB - 2B,SS)
  15. (174) Gio Urshela (DET - 1B,3B,SS)
  16. (187) Will Brennan (CLE - OF)
  17. (198) Jake McCarthy (AZ - OF)
  18. (211) Jorge Mateo (BAL - SS)
  19. (222) Dairon Blanco (KC - OF)
  20. (235) Jacob Young (WSH - OF)
  21. (246) Bubba Thompson (CIN - OF)
  22. (259) Trevor Williams (WSH - SP)
  23. (270) Reese McGuire (BOS - C)
Recent Additions from Last Week and This Week (since last update):
Recent Drops This Week and Last Week:
Trades that I performed since my last update:
Current Roster and why I choose to own them:
Continue the grind! I made it through yet another week! I would like to talk about last week's matchup: It was a humbling defeat where I lost 3-6. The few categories I won were SB, Saves, K. We tied in wins with 7 for each of us. (Incredibly high amount of wins) My ERA and WHIP were massive because of my "Aces" not performing like it. Kirby, Gauseman and Ragans all did bad. People made a big fuss about me "winning those trades" a few weeks ago, but actually if I had Lugo and some of those other names I would have won this week.... Still long term I should be just fine. Oh McArthur also inflated my ratios. Walker was useful to help me with those wins. RP Neris somehow got 2 of them? Fedde continues to shine just like his KBO numbers and I'm much higher on him than most others are. On offense I barely got enough SB actually. Then really did NOT hit for high average. The two standouts were Yandy Diaz and Campusano! Ruiz was a terrible add and recently cut him. He hasn't played in 5 games. Time to shake this loss off and focus on the future.
No trades to report on this week. I was slightly less active trading and sending offers out this past week than I usually am. I still intend on selling high on Jon Gray and possibly Crochet (cuz innings limits concerns), and my streamer who just had an awesome start TUES Gavin Stone. Three for 1 package deal of course. I will be going after those buy low SP. I have no issues holding onto Jon Gray or Crochet either.
My matchup for this current week features an opponent who has only 22sb on the season compared to my 39. They only have hit for .243 average compared to my .251 so I feel pretty confident I can win at least those 2 offensive categories. Since we are two days in I'm actually ahead in runs at this moment too, however I doubt that will last since they are 4th in overall runs on the season. For pitching I'm absolutely dominant in the season stats. I am the LEADER in every single category. Pretty awesome considering the way I started at the draft! (It helps that players I took were absolutely incredible to start the year and I have streamed in many strong names). A deeper look on the pitching though they have 7 starts remaining vs my 5. I'm severely ahead thus far though with 4 wins, 26k, 0.94era, 0.70whip. So I absolutely have no real need to stream more SP. This is the manager that I traded some of my former SP like Tanner Houck, Seth Lugo, Jordan Hicks and Spencer Turnbull. They only have 2 closers compared to my 3 so I like my odds there too. I do predict a likely 7-3 victory for me this week.
In terms of the moves I have made already this week and my future moves this week: I secured a real nice speed and contact hitter in Josh Lowe! Feels like he will fit it on my squad perfectly! And it gets rid of my weakest hitter Ruiz. When I added in Dairon Blanco it's purely a speed play really. He may still be replaceable if this weekly matchup is close in runs and I need them later in week. Sal Frelick is an option to re add as well as other leadoff hitters across the majors. (Frelick hasn't been batting leadoff) I'm glad I held the line on Fedde and Crochet. I almost was going to drop them to stream in more starting pitchers. Late in the week I knew it was close in wins and I had no chance to win the ratios so I streamed in a few extra SP and cut Taillon. I certainly could have tried harder to "sell high" on him. Gavin Stone is fine on my roster, but I may actually add a pitcher with higher upside to both dangle in trades and/or just keep on team. I been in talks to obtain Jarren Duran or Brice Turang (both owned by the same manager) so that might be something that happens for the next update!
Bit of strategy talk here regarding my team build. The goal of a punt power build is to win 2 offensive categories (Ideally 3 eventually, R, AVG, SB) and win 4-5 pitching categories. (If you are able to obtain closers you have upside to win 5 pitching cats, if you punt saves then your upside is 4 and you would be more consistently likely to win WINS and K categories) I technically currently have the upside to win all 5 pitching and 2 hitting categories. (If I gain runs value I would even have maximum upside of 8 categories! 5+3=8) Remember that in category leagues you ONLY NEED TO WIN 6 categories folks! This is the benefit of punting! (And technically in h2h playoffs you can have a tie 5-5 and still advance to next round due to season standings and matchup ranking!) I think punting gives you less variance than other builds? Or maybe this less variance is just from having high AVG contact hitters? Discuss? (Could be an ongoing discussion throughout the season)
There is an interesting topic to bring up regarding trading for hitters who fit the "punt power" type of team build. I think buying low on Kwan and Trea Turner now become viable possibilities for my team and other punt power teams that may exist out there! If you have any other names that could be buy low, I'm all ears. Remember to always keep an eye out for prospects coming up who have the skills that you want/need! Sometimes you can trade away your current assets that you have for upgrades at weak positions on your team and then fill those holes of the guys you traded away with prospects who are coming up soon or have already come up. (Or a hot waiver wire bat that will fill in temporarily) In this way you become a team with "less weaknesses" (Of course that advice can apply to all sorts of type of team builds in head to head category leagues). What this means for this Undraftables team is I may be able to flip my pitching assets for hitting upgrades that give the full trifecta of RUNS, AVG, SB. (Corbin Caroll firmly on my future radar) Maybe I should already be sending feelers, hmmm...
Overall, continue to be quite happy with my team's performance and strategy, (despite last week's loss). As mentioned my goal is to win by a score of 6-4 or tie 5-5, but eventually will have upside to win 7-3 or even 8-2. I'm willing to make adjustments for each week and consider player recommendations to achieve that goal. So far, this has gone better than I expected (whereas this was tougher in the NBA)! One of the bigger takeaways you can glean from this strategy is that there are numerous ways to win a category league. I have won with punt power strategy for 3-4 years now so for me it is "proven winner". (Notate that this punt power strategy has NOT been tested in Roto YET. I plan to test that next year. Is this the best way to "punt power"? No, remember this was an "extra challenge" that I set forth upon myself.) You really don't have to go "Undraftables" (hard mode) like I have! A big takeway is that having superstars (or stars) undeniably will help a build like this do even better (Ronald Acuna, Elly De La Cruz, Witt, Corbin Carroll, etc), but you don't necessarily "need" those superstars. Instead you just need to have the right build or combination of players and a focus on your matchups. (In fantasy and MLB) There are various "useful" players with skill sets that are still worthy. You don't always need "The best player" in everything. (At least NOT IN A CATEGORY LEAGUE) If you have suffered severe injuries to some power hitters (like Trout, Casas, Royce Lewis, Josh Jung) you could transition and/or trade into a "punt power build" to try it out? (Or that could be something you consider further down the road in the season too) If you need help on how to do it, I'm your guy!
I'll provide weekly updates on the team's progress, so let me know if you'd like to follow along or have any suggestions! Thoughts on the team? If you want the previous updates on the team with "How I ended up here" and each week breakdown you can find them in a FB group or I can send them to you in a message. (I wasn't able to post early in season because I changed reddit profiles (hated my username) from last year which had bunches of karma!) (Can't post if you don't have enough karma) Additionally, I'm recruiting for next year, (although this is NOT the central goal of this post) where this unique drafting strategy will be the league's standard for each owner.

2024.05.15 08:08 Different_Bedroom942 Attempting to make Solo Sikoa into a baby face part 2

Welcome back to attempting to make Solo into a babyface. Here are some important notes from part 1.
-Smackdown has the men’s MiTB (Andrade holds it)
-Jacob Fatu debut was at Summerslam.
-in the smackdowns leading up to Fastlane, Jacob Fatu and the Tongas turned on Solo
-Jacob Fatu def Solo Sikoa at Fastlane with the help of Zilla Fatu (and sort of Jimmy Uso)
-Jacob Fatu challenged Solo for the position of Tribal Chief, causing Roman Reigns to return.
-Jimmy Uso joins Solo and Roman after hearing Roman is back.
-Jey Uso agreed to return for one fight at Survivor Series
-We sit at the survivor series with the Fatus and the Tongas vs Roman, Solo, and the Usos
On the Smackdown before Survivor Series, Roman and Jacob have a standoff. It was announced that tonight there will be a match between the Usos and Tongas for the advantage in the war games match. Ultimately, a guerrilla warfare hit on Jimmy would end the match, giving the advantage to the new bloodline.
Before we even get to the war games, it's the Rock vs Cody Rhodes for the Universal title, and the match is intense. The Rock goes for a peoples elbow, but is countered. Then he goes for a rock bottom, but is countered into a cross-Rhodes. He hits the first, and goes for a second, and hits that too, and goes for a third, but unlike when he beat Roman at WM40, the Rock is able to get out of it. It’s a brutal fight that goes on for a while. Cody is in a corner, and is thrown on the ground. The Rock goes for his people's elbow again, and is dodged again. Cody looks to dodge the upcoming rock bottom, but the rock expects it, instead hitting Cody in the head and sending him down to the floor. The Rock goes for his third peoples elbow, and lands it this time. 1, 2, 3. The Rock was the champion. Cody Rhodes had lost, giving even more momentum to the new bloodline.
With the team captains and orders set, it was time for the men’s war games match. Roman vs Jacob started it off, and it was clear off the bat Roman hadn’t lost a step. He hit move after move after move on Jacob, but Fatu was resilient. He knew his team had the advantage, and if he waited, his brother would be there soon enough. For the first 5 minutes it’s all Roman Reigns, until Zilla Fatu entered the ring. Even for Roman, 1vs2 monsters was hard. Jacob Fatu looked more insane than ever, and Zilla didn’t look much better. Roman was getting overpowered, and the Fatus were going in on him. But it was time now for the next person to enter. Solo Sikoa was in the match, and instantly went for a big hit on Zilla Fatu. The fight was now back in control for the old bloodline. Solo was beating on Zilla, and Roman was back on top until Jacob. But like before, it was about to get ugly, as now Tama Tonga was in the fight. Tama Tonga went straight for Roman. It was back to Roman getting overrun, and to make matters worse, Zilla had turned the tides against Solo. The old bloodline hoped things could change with the introduction of Jey Uso into the fight, as he went for the quick spear on Tama Tonga, but Tama Tonga was smart, and got out of the way. Now it was Tama beating down Jey, and now Roman was so exhausted it was hard to keep up with Jacob. Things got even worse when Tonga Loa got into the match. It was really bad, especially for Jey Uso, who was now the target of a double team. Eventually, everyone in the new bloodline hit a finisher on the old bloodline, but they couldn’t pin them yet. However, in came Jimmy Uso, and it was now up to him. He looked at Tama Tonga, the man who took his place, and he hit him with a spear, but Tonga Loa didn’t let that slide, hitting his own spear on Jimmy. But now Jey was up, and hit Tonga Loa with his own spear. It was a spearfest, and Roman looked to get involved, going for the spear and pin on Jacob Fatu, but Jacob kicks out at 2. It was the old bloodline in control, except for Solo, who was still getting wrecked by Zilla. However, it was Jimmy who came to save him, and they lock eyes, with Jimmy nodding his head to Solo. The match rages on, and the tides slowly turn back in the favor of the old bloodline. Multiple 2 counts happen with very close calls. Eventually, everyone’s on the ground except Solo and Tama Tonga. The original new bloodline members stared eachother down, and charged. Tama Tonga went for a finisher, but he missed, which opened the door for a Samoan Spike. He goes for it, and hits it, but before he can go down for the pin, Jacob Fatu, who got up after a vicious Roman spear, hits Solo with a spear of his own. 1, 2, 3. The new bloodline were the winners of the war games match. It’s was a nightmare. The new bloodline had both that match and the WWE Universal title. Things looked bad.
As if things weren’t bad enough, Jey Uso kept his word and went right back to Raw, not wanting any more involvement. However, before he did leave, he quickly let Roman know “if my brothers gonna rock wit yall, don’t let him get hurt real bad, aight?” Roman simply nodded.
It’s the smackdown after survivor series, and now it was time to look ahead to the Royal Rumble. But there was an issue about last match. Was Jacob Fatu the new tribal chief? Well, in his eyes, yes, but to almost everyone else, no. Jacob Fatu realized this, and would come out to confront Roman. They eventually decided to settle it all at the Royal Rumble, a main event of the show with Fatu and Reigns fighting for the official title of Tribal Chief. Not much of note besides the typical run ins from the bloodline happen, so we go straight to the Royal Rumble.
If you want a fun fact, the woman’s winner is Zoey Stark, but we aren’t focused on anything until the men’s Royal Rumble match. Not much of note happens until number 13, which has our first main story entrance, Zilla Fatu. He lasts to about 20, and unfortunately, no backup really arrived, and he was out. At 21, out came Jey Uso, and his brother Jimmy followed at 22. Then it felt like everyone involved with the bloodline came. 24 was Tama Tonga, Cody Rhodes was 25, Tonga Loa was 26, and Randy Orton, who’s back for the first time since his injury against Jacob Fatu at 27. Then we get the grace period in it with 28 being Sheamus. However, at 29, we get someone who’s familiar with the bloodline that hasn’t been mentioned up to this point. Sami Zayn. He’s had a very good run and only recently dropped the IC title to Ilja Dragunov at Survivor Series. Then, at 30, it’s none other than Solo Sikoa. Eventually, we’re down to 6. Tama Tonga, the Uso brothers, Solo, Sami, and Carmelo Hayes. Carmelo Hayes had been here since number 7, and was targeted quickly, but he was good. Eventually, Tama Tonga got his hands on Solo, looking for revenge from that Samoan Spike at Survivor series, and is about to take him over. However, this is when the bond between Jimmy and Solo is truly reformed, and Jimmy saves Solo. However, Tama Tonga takes the chance to eliminate Jimmy Uso, and it’s down to 5. Sami Zayn lands a Heluva Kick on Carmelo, and he seems finished, but Tama Tonga is on a rampage, and looks to eliminate him. However, in a move that’s questioned by a lot of fans, Solo Sikoa eliminates himself to also eliminate Tama Tonga. He looks on at Jey Uso, telling him to win. Jey and Sami, who had been together a lot on raw, team up and eventually eliminate Carmelo, meaning it’s Jey Uso vs Sami Zayn. In the end, after some brutal fighting, it’s Jey Uso who wins the Royal Rumble, getting his shot to win back the World Heavyweight Championship he lost at Summerslam.
With that behind, it was time for Jacob Fatu vs Roman Reigns in a normal match, meaning if anyone got involved, it was over. And indeed, someone, specifically the Rock, got involved. The Rock explains that he’s the tribal chief, and that Jacob Fatu has just been his stand-in for the time being with Roman. But now, it was the road to wrestlemania, and the Rock declared he end Roman for good in Las Vegas. The universal title match was on st wrestlemania.
In the weeks leading up to elimination chamber, we begin to find out who’s gonna be in the match, and the very first 2 to get in are Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu. They are followed by Randy Orton, LA Knight, Carmelo Hayes, and Tammaso Ciampa, who at this point has broken off from DIY. Then, it’s time for the match. The winner (seemingly) getting a shot the universal title at wrestlemania. It’s expected that the winner will either kick Roman out of the match or make it a 3-way.
The men’s elimination chamber begins with Melo and Ciampa. Sadly for Ciampa, he’s pinned before the next person, Randy Orton, can even come out. Then, it’s move after move as Solo, then Jacob, then LA Knight all exit their pods. Sadly for this story, and great news for Solo, Jacob Fatu is the second out, being target by everyone else in the ring. However, they then turn their eyes to Solo, but before LA Knight can charge, Randy Orton stops him, saying that “Solo changed, even if he’s still an asshole”. That was all LA Knight needed to hit Randy Orton with a BFT, but is unable to get the 3 count, as Solo stopped him. However, he didn’t need to, because off the top rope came Carmelo Hayes, who goes for the p- RKO OUTTA NOWHERE! 1, 2, 3, Carmelo was done. Now down to the final 3, completely out of it, Randy Orton was the next to go, beating by LA Knight. Now it was Solo vs LA Knight, winner goes to wrestlemania. It was close, with so many 2 counts. However, as LA Knight went on the top rope and going for the jump, Solo Sikoa revealed a new version of the Samoan Spike, as he was somehow able to catch LA Knight with an RKO style Samoan Spike, and that was it for LA Knight, with Solo winning.
Now came the big question. What was Solo going to do. Well, to a lot, it was obvious, and it’s was announced that the match for the WWE Undisputed Universal Championship was a triple threat between The Rock, Roman Reigns, and Solo Sikoa.
Over the next few weeks, the new bloodline and old bloodline fueds grew. It was heated, and eventually, the Tongas challenging the Uso brothers to a tag team match for the tag team titles (remember they’re still held by the tongas). One half agrees, but unfortunately, Jey Uso declines. Jimmy Uso needed a tag partner, but was it going to be. Nobody new. Over the weeks, the pecking order became clear to almost everyone when the rock, out of anger, went in on Zilla Fatu for losing a match on Smackdown. Jacob Fatu at first went to bat for his brother, but would eventually also indulge in putting Zilla down. This was the opportunity anyone in the old bloodline was looking for. They wanted a crack in that new bloodline, and they got it. They planted the seeds for Zilla Fatu to turn on the new bloodline, but he wouldn’t do it.
Jacob Fatu was still very clearly angry about Elmination chamber, and every chance he got to attack Solo, he took it. It was back and forth, eventually resulting in a challenge by Jacob Fatu live on stage to Solo, the main event of night one for the chance to fight in the title match against the rock and Roman. However, before Solo could take the match, someone came out to his rescue and offered to take the match himself, none other than the former Universal champ, Cody Rhodes, claiming that this chance shouldn’t be taken from Solo. However, he did have one stipulation for Solo, and that’s if Solo won, Rhodes would get a shot at the title quick. Solo agreed, and Fatu, looking annoyed, also agreed. If Rhodes won, not much would happen, but if Fatu won, the fight would become a fatal four way.
It’s the smackdown before the smackdown before wrestlemania, and tensions are high. There’s a huge argument, and it results in a lot of shouting. It eventually spins to Zilla Fatu, and how he is so young and so raw that he hasn’t matured enough. But that’s when Jimmy makes his move. He tells Zilla “don’t make the same mistake I made a year ago. Do it.” But Zilla didn’t move. Tama Tonga made sure Jimmy Uso knew that he can’t talk like that, but that’s when the big moment happened. Zilla Fatu super kicked Tama Tonga. It was the same thing that happened with the original bloodline. Zilla Fatu had turned, and stood by Jimmy Uso. It was quickly set up that the match for the tag titles would be between Jimmy Uso and Zilla Fatu vs the Tongas. As the camera panned to the crowd at the very end, if you stopped it quickly, you could see Jey Uso, at the top of the stairs, smiling.
It was time for the smackdown before wrestlemania, and again, tensions were so high it was insane. With Zilla turning, everything was crazy. Fights broke out, blood was shed, and it was a huge fight. At the end, the rock declared it was his title, and he would end this entire thing by winning. Roman declared the same thing. Solo, well Solo just stood there. However, little did they know, at the end of the show, there stood LA Knight, Randy Orton, AJ Styles, and Kevin Owens, seemingly looking at someone, and declaring that “the master plan was ready for wrestlemania”.
And that’s where part 2 ends.
There will be a finale part 3 that will probably be shorter than parts 1 and 2.
Hope you all enjoyed

2024.05.15 05:30 delibirdguy Top 500 Songs Ever (Subjective)

2024.05.15 03:39 miamarsden NASCAR 2025 SILLY SEASON - Current thoughts after research

Hello everyone! I'm Mia, and I'm currently realizing how absurd this silly season is starting to look. We've heard so many rumors and so much speculation, so right now, I'm going to take any news I've heard and post who I think is most likely to be in what car. Here we go!
Note: Entries in bold are confirmed by Jayski/NASCAR.com/another source that I've forgotten to write down.
* - back unless team declines team option
CHARTERED TEAMS
Trackhouse Kaulig (1) Ross Chastain
Penske (2) Austin Cindric Reasoning: Tim Cindric is still involved with Penske, so why would Cindric leave? The only thing I could see possible is Cindric to the 21, but even that is unlikely, as Austin Cindric seems about 85% likely to come back next year.
RCR (3) Austin Dillon Reasoning: We don't know much about Austin Dillon. Supposedly, he was signed through 2025, but rumor has it that he may retire after this year to pursue the management side of RCR. If this happens, then Austin Hill would be the leading candidate to replace him, I'd assume, but otherwise, I think Austin Dillon will likely be back.
Stewart Front Row (4) Josh Berry Reasoning: Josh Berry could be in a number of rides next year. Let's start with the obvious: Stewart-Haas and Front Row have to be in talks for something. From what I've heard, SHR is either downsizing or merging with FRM. I'm going to go with the latter, as it makes sense with the timing of McDowell going to Spire. Meanwhile, if SHR downsizes, it sounds like Gragson and Preece would be the likely candidates for release, but the only driver safe is Briscoe, due to the team option (which actually means Briscoe may not be safe). That said, Berry could end up in the WBR #21 ride, or even in a ride like a third RFK car. Still, I'd bet on Berry staying in this car and FRM and SHR merging.
Hendrick (5) Kyle Larson
RFK (6) Brad Keselowski
Spire (7) Corey LaJoie
RCR (8) Kyle Busch
Hendrick (9) Chase Elliott
Stewart Front Row (10) Noah Gragson Reasoning: As much as Gragson may not be the best person on social media, Gragson has outperformed expectations by a lot this season. As such, it's interesting that Front Row and McDowell would part ways. We know that Gragson is in a study group with Berry and Briscoe (and now Preece, I suppose). That said, Gragson being part of the group is interesting, as is the fact that if Preece is dealt with, then FRM and SHR together have 4 drivers under contract. Interesting... Gragson could end up in the 34 if FRM doesn't merge with SHR, the 19 if Bass Pro Shops can recommend Gragson to JGR and if Truex, Jr. retires, and the 21 if that ride is open, and those are just a few possibities. Gragson's performance this year is making what happens here paramount to resolving Silly Season.
JGR (11) Denny Hamlin
Penske (12) Ryan Blaney
Stewart Front Row (14) Chase Briscoe\*
RWR (15) Riley Herbst Reasoning: Herbst is ready for Cup. Additionally, Herbst has sponsorship and has seemingly matured to where he could be a huge boon to a growing team. It's possible Herbst stays in Xfinity, but that wouldn't make sense. He could, though, go to a SFR car if SHR and FRM merge - I could see him replacing Berry or Gragson. RWR could continue to use multiple drivers, but they seem to be moving in the direction of being taken seriously, so I'd expect they'll name a full-time driver here. I could see Kaz Grala being the full-time driver, I could see Cody Ware being the full-time driver, and I could even see a small peephole where Hailey Deegan has a chance at some starts in this ride. It's definitely up in the air.
Trackhouse Kaulig (16) Shane van Gisbergen Reasoning: If Kaulig and Trackhouse merge, they would have, to our knowledge, 5 drivers under contract - Zilich, though, can wait. With that said, if Trackhouse/Kaulig keep van Gisbergen, Chastain, Suarez, and Zane Smith, then SVG is likely to go to this car since he's running the 16 part-time this year. Even on the off-chance that the two teams merge and chose to let a driver go, it's far more likely that Trackhouse would let Suarez go than it is that they let SVG, who won under the Trackhouse label in his first start, go.
RFK (17) Chris Buescher
JGR (19) Corey Heim Reasoning: Corey Heim is a top Toyota prospect, and Martin Truex, Jr. may be retiring. If Truex doesn't retire, I'd put Heim in the 50 - I think Heim is #1 and Chandler Smith is #2 in terms of Toyota prospects. Heim is ready based on his runs at Dover and Kansas. That said, there's a non-zero chance Gragson or some other prospect from Ford hemmoraghing their talent could end up here - last year, I was convinced that Harrison Burton could end up here (I wouldn't rule that out - Harrison Burton did races for JGR in the Xfinity series at one point).
JGR (20) Christopher Bell Reasoning: I haven't heard anything about any changes to this car, so I'm going to assume he stays.
WBR (21) Ryan Preece Reasoning: Harrison Burton is unlikely to come back, via multiple sources. The options I'd assume exist are probably something like this: Noah Gragson, Josh Berry, Ryan Preece, Todd Gilliland, Riley Herbst, Chase Briscoe, Austin Cindric, and in bizzaro-world, Justin Haley. One of those will pan out - in this Silly Season, I'm thinking Ryan Preece's blue-collar attitude would shine with the Wood Brothers. Plus, Preece is the odd man out, but has enough talent to avoid dropping out of Cup if Ford Motorcraft/Quick Lane is willing to take him on.
Penske (22) Joey Logano
23XI (23) Bubba Wallace Reasoning: I haven't heard anything about any changes to this car, so I'm going to assume he stays.
Hendrick (24) William Byron
Trackhouse Kaulig (31) Zane Smith Reasoning: Zane Smith will be in a Trackhouse car next year one way or another, per the planned contractual agreement. Really, it's whether Trackhosue gets a charter or not that's the question. If they do, Zane Smith is priority #1 for Trackhouse to get into their car. If Trackhouse and Kaulig don't merge, then I'd bet on Trackhouse putting Zane in Kaulig's car, but more likely is that Trackhouse will buy Zane Smith a charter from Kaulig or swallow Kaulig entirely.
Stewart Front Row (38) Todd Gilliland Reasoning: I haven't heard anything about any changes to this car, so I'm going to assume he stays, especially since he didn't leave after last year's "Zane Smith races". If he were to leave, he'd probably end up in the 21 for the Wood Brothers or end up at Legacy Motor Club or Joe Gibbs due to his Toyota connections (TRICON). Besides, his performance is continuing to go up, and McDowell is gone now, so it makes sense for Gilliland to stay here.
LMC (42) John Hunter Nemechek Reasoning: If Truex retires, Nemechek will either be in this car or in the #19 for JGR. Either way, nothing really to report here - Nemechek has performed well some weeks and I haven't heard anything about any changes to this car.
LMC (43) Erik Jones Reasoning: I haven't heard anything about any changes to this car, so I'm going to assume he stays.
23XI (45) Tyler Reddick Reasoning: I haven't heard anything about any changes to this car, so I'm going to assume he stays.
JTG (47) Ricky Stenhouse, Jr.
Hendrick (48) Alex Bowman
RWR (51) Kaz Grala Reasoning: I haven't heard of Kaz Grala going anywhere else - he will likely be in either the #15 or the #51 for RWR next year at least part-time. I do think there's a sleeper chance, though, that he goes to RFK because he's a talented, young Ford driver and RFK wants to expand.
JGR (54) Ty Gibbs Reasoning: I haven't heard anything about any changes to this car, so I'm going to assume he stays. Plus, he's Joe Gibbs's grandson.
RFK (60) (was 34) Justin Haley Reasoning: Justin Haley to RFK sounds wild when you consider Haley is under contract with RWR through next year. That said, RFK and RWR are in an alliance, and if Keselowski expands before he retires, then the timeline could change drastically, especially after BK's win at Darlington in the spring of 2024. Haley clearly wouldn't move to RFK without some sort of reasoning - this could definitely be a sleeper move to happen. I'd also not rule out Gragson or Kaz Grala or Ryan Preece for this ride, though, if RWR keeps Haley.
23XI (67) (was 41) Chandler Smith Reasoning: 23XI wants a third charter. Chandler Smith is probably the next ready driver in the Toyota pipeline unless 23XI wants Heim/JGR wants Heim. Either way, one of those two will likely run in the 67 next year if 23XI secures a charter. (In order, I'd say Trackhouse, 23XI, RFK, and Front Row are the most likely teams to expand)
Spire (71) Michael McDowell
Spire (77) Carson Hocevar
Kaulig Trackhouse (99) Daniel Suarez Reasoning: Kaulig and Trackhouse merging and Daniel Suarez's contract situations seem to be separate issues. Suarez could easily end up leaving this team - especially if JGR and Suarez make up and Suarez gets the 19 back. I doubt it, though. Suarez won Atlanta and has 2 wins in 3 years, which honestly isn't bad when you consider we're in a win-and-you're-in format. I do think Suarez's seat is warm, but all indications are that the contract talks are going well. I don't think anything will be signed, though, until the Kaulig/Trackhouse potential merger situation is resolved. That said, if Suarez goes, I'd watch for Gragson, Austin Hill, or
NON-CHARTERED TEAMS TMT (50) Conor Daly - Look at me like I'm dumb all you want, but on the TMT Racing website, it says they want to be full-time by 2025. Who knows, TMT could buy a charter, but based on TMT themselves, there's a chance they're full-time without a charter next year. That said, it definitely could be damn near anyone driving this #50 car next year - let me be clear, though, I only think this is a 50/50 shot.
OTHER TEAMS I'D NOT BE SURPRISED TO SEE WITH CHARTERS RCR (33) - if this happened, they'd likely put Austin Hill in the car. FRM - if this happened, they'd probably just buy an SHR charter and renumber it 36. JRM - it's now or never, Dale Jr. Andretti - Andretti says they're more likely to buy into a team than to straight up buy a charter, but what if they decide to take their Gainbridge money elsewhere? What if Honda comes to Cup?

2024.05.14 09:00 Efficient_Pomelo_674 Total Drama City Of Crime AU: Part 2

For context, this AU of Total Drama is set in a "vice city" similar to those found in crime dramas. Today's post will go over the second half of the TDI premergers, explaining what they are in this AU.
Izzy: A serial arsonist infamous for vandalizing buildings with massive warning signs a week before the actual arsons. Also, she mainly targets buildings that are home to corruption.
Cody: A hacker who works with the police, giving them information he found from the computers of some of the many different villains in the city.
Beth: A former accomplice of Heather who later decides to turn against her and become a witness. Stay tuned to find out what Heather is...
Sadie: She and Katie are two civilians who appear to comment on certain events.
Courtney: One of the main cops in the show. While she does show shades of her more unstable side from canon, ultimately the circumstances end up preventing her from becoming a true villain. Someone will turn to the dark side in her place, but to find out who you'll have to see future posts... Also, I can confirm that Duncney will be endgame in this fic.
Harold: One of the enforcers of Chris McLean's mafia. He is also the member of said mafia who deals with diplomatic negotiations with the other criminal groups in the city, namely the Hellriders, the Wawanakwa Cartel, INFO and the Freedom through Destruction Group. Is much more reliably skilled than his canon counterpart, which is why he's not laughed at in the present day. By the way, feel free to speculate on who will be the members of the criminal organizations I mentioned.
What do you think will happen to these characters? What do you think future characters will be? Comment below.

# Team Δ Comment Record
1 Dodgers 0 The Dodgers started off a mediocre road trip by sweeping the Marlins in dominant fashion, followed by a sleepy series against the padres. My early season prediction of the Dodgers's infield defense being the biggest issue was completely wrong. Mookie looks natural at short, and Muncy has been playing pretty darn well at 3rd. We will be using our prayers this week to pray that Shohei is going to be okay 27-15
2 Phillies +1 It's tough to end the week on a walkoff loss to the Marlins and feel good, but it's hard to complain about a 4-2 stretch. Nick Castellanos might finally not be the worst hitter in baseball after he says he started treating hitting like glorified batting practice again. Ranger Suarez has arguably been the best pitcher in baseball, pitching to a 1.5 ERA and an astounding 0.72 WHIP with team wins in each of his starts. Somehow this performance isn't even all that surprising for a guy with a 4.18 ERA last year. He was this dominant in a half season between the bullpen and rotation in 2021 and has a career 1.62 ERA in 7 postseason starts and 2 relief appearances. This week: another weird scheduling quirk as they play a 4 game set against the Mets with the first two at Citi Field and the next two in Philly before the Nats come to town for a 3 game series. 28-13
3 Orioles -1 I was hoping the Orioles would go 5-1 this week but they went 4-2. Still nothing to be super upset about. I think the main concerns right now are Mullins is hitting under .200 and Santander still not hitting the way he can. Yesterdays game was just not great so hopefully it was just a one-off and can be flushed and they move on. Blue Jays and Mariners are in town this week so it doesn't get any easier. 26-13
4 Yankees 0 Our pitching is so good right now. Anyone in the rotation could pull a Glasnow and write their number on a ball for a cute girl, and she’d call. Doesn’t even have to have their name. She doesn’t care if its’s Nestor Cortes or Clarke Schmidt. Yankees starter? She’s calling, and she’s shaving her legs beforehand. If we signed Pete Davidson for some spot starts there'd be a second baby boom. By the way, my nickname for Clarke Schmidt used to be Farte Schidt. He has very much made me eat my aforementioned schidt this year, and officially has the second-best starter ERA behind Luis Gil, as we all predicted. In other news, Judge and Stanton both have their pop at once, Soto is doing what Soto does, and Verdugo is playing sneaky good right now. We also officially took the season series against Houston 6-1, which feels GREAT. If only they were a playoff team so we could finally bounce them this year. Oh well. A Yankees-A’s ALCS it is. 27-15
5 Braves 0 The walk off loss hurts, but can't be too upset with a 4-1 bounce back week! Big time perfromance from our SP. Giving up only 4 ERs in 23.2 IP (1.52 ERA) in these 5 games. Our bats are not what we have come to expect, but that can't last much longer. Signs of life from Acuña and Olson and continued performance by Ozuna. If by the end of May we don't see massive improvement to our offensive numbers, I will be surprised. Until then, buckle up because the offense is coming. 24-13
6 Twins +3 Another great week, Sausage be praised! We took series from the Blue Jays and Mariners with both blowouts and well-pitched close games. I think it's safe to say that the team has found its groove, and this is how the Twins can be expected to perform moving forward. The only blip has been that the bullpen is having a slight slump, but that will even out shortly. 24-16
7 Brewers 0 Paul Who? The only starting pitcher debut I care about is BOBBY GAS who threw 6 innings of 2 hit, 0 run ball in a win against the Cardinals. He fills a much needed spot in the Brewers rotation, and likely would have been up sooner if not for an injury of his own. Rhys Hoskins also had a monster week, racking up 3 HR and 9 RBI in hist last 5 games. I had my doubts this young lineup and shaky rotation actually could be a contending ballclub over 162 games, but I'm not going to argue with the results. 24-16
8 Guardians -2 Another bad week. The Guardians had rough series against the Tigers and the mighty World Champion favorite White Sox. This coming week, we play the reigning World Series champs and the hottest team in our division. I'm not worried. Not at all. 25-16
9 Cubs -1 The Cubs went 3-3 this week in what felt like a complete microcosm of their season. While they did get Justin Steele, Cody Bellinger, and Seiya Suzuki back from injury, they lost Dansby Swanson and Yency Almonte, who had been a rare reliable bullpen arm. Christopher Morel also had a scare after tweaking his knee sliding into sexond, but fortunately is alright. Otherwise, the offense remained inconsistent, the starting pitching was outstanding, and the bullpen was abysmal at worst and heart-stopping at best. While he didn't continue his usual dominance against them, Ian Happ extended his streak of 62 consecutive games reaching base vs the Pirates. This week, the Cubs travel to Atlanta to take on the Braves before hosting the Pirates for 4 games. 24-17
10 Royals +2 The Royals have a chance to be in first place by themselves this late in the season for the first time since 2016. It feels like a lifetime ago. Yes, it is just seven weeks into the season but hopes are usually gone by this point. Maybe this year can be different. 25-17
11 Mariners 0 Apologies for any typos, doing this from mobile is miserable. Not the best week, but given the pitching hiccups I can't complain too much. Woo is back (and hopefully staying back, him getting pulled was a bit of a scare.) The next few series are another gauntlet, and if the M's can make it through playing relatively well they'll be in a good positon to take advantage of their schedule for the end of the month and early June. Up next: 3 vs. Roy L's, 3 @ Oreo L's 22-19
12 Padres +2 The San Diego Madres beat LA on both día de las Madres (friday) as well as Mother’s Day, wherein both we got great pitching performances from King and Darvish respectively. Arraez capped off the walk-off win on friday, and it was nice to see Bogaerts get one deep on Sunday. So far in ‘24 the Padres haven’t lost a series to the Dodgers, whether in LA, San Diego, or South Korea. It’s a bit cathartic, though I do wish there was less blue in the stands this weekend though. Really interested to see how they come out against the rocks, as SD was only able to split the 4-game series earlier in the season. This one lines up between the series’s vs LA and ATL, it could be a bit of a trap, hoping the Pads continue their series winning streak (which is now at 4) and just take care of business. 22-21
13 Rangers -3 The baseball gods are unforgiving. Sacrfices have to be made and will continue to be made to the baseball gods. Oh dear baseball gods please forgive our hubris for thinking the baseball suffering was over. It was not but also, flags fly forever. 22-20
14 Red Sox -1 The Sox have not been having a good May. Losing Casas has been brutal, and the expected bump in performance from Vaughn Grissom at 2nd hasn't happened (well, at least not yet). As a team we have a decent looking triple slash, but situationally they've been horrible. In high leverage PAs, the Sox are hitting .195/.264/.272 in 247 PAs. We have loads of talent, but there's always some issue whether it be defense or clutch hitting that holds us back from being truly competitive. 21-19
15 Tigers 0 The City Connects... phew phew phew. Looks like we got tire tracks laid on us after a truck ran us over. No thanks. I hate it... and that's not even mentioning the dumb hat. In terms of actual baseball, though, Tarik Skubal is still Skuballing. This week: 3 vs. MIA, 3 at ARI. 20-20
16 Rays 0 It was a .500 week for the Rays, and the good news is things are looking better, but only like maybe? Randy and Yandy seem to be coming back a bit; glancing at the lineup's batting avg in the game threads isn't painful anymore. Ben Rortvedt is over .300 in the catcher position which is unheard of for this team. The bad news is pitching is only bouncing back from abysmal to below average. A week against division opponents on the road will test if that improvement is here to stay or if it was just a new uniform bounce. 20-21
17 D-Backs +3 The Diamondbacks have been winning more games of late but are still underperforming their Pythagorean record and are 3 games below .500 despite a +17 run differential. Reinforcements should be coming back from injury soon which should help. 19-22
18 Mets -1 I prewrote a big and extremely negative blurb about the Mets getting swept by the Braves. That did not happen, Brandon Nimmo hit a walk off homer on Sunday Night Baseball immediately as I was about to close my computer. Never been so glad to be wrong. Bring on the Phillies and Marlins. 19-20
19 Nationals 0 Two large accomplishments for the Nats in the last week - 1) For the first time since 2021, the Nats climbed over .500 with an opening win over the Orioles in a 2-game series. 2) Patrick Corbin recorded a win this week vs the Red Sox (his first since 9/11/23 vs the Pirates). The Nationals quickly slid back under .500 losing the 2nd game vs the Orioles and then 2 of 3 against the Red Sox. James Wood is hitting everything in AAA (over 1.000 OPS) so there are lots of calls for HRCHU. 19-20
20 Blue Jays +1 Very up and down week for the Cyrulean Winged Creatures of Ontario. A 1-1 split with Philly and a 1-2 tilt vs Minnesota extended a too-long stretch of not winning series. Turns out, the combination of bad offense and a bad bullpen is bad. But there have been some glimpses of hope, at least. Alek Manoah threw a gem on Sunday, giving up 0 ER and 1 BB over 7 IP with 6 Ks. Also, Vladdy is hot as shit right now; since the last week of March, he's been hitting over .400 with a nearly 1.000 OPS. Still, the Jays in general continue to underperform and hover just below .500. Mid-May is not the time to freak out and this team is in too deep to consider a full tear-down even in a lost year, but things will be getting worrisome if they can't pull out of this middling stretch that has defined the first quarter of the season. 18-22
21 Giants +4 Believe it or not, the Giants had a winning week. They continue their flirtation with being a decent team. However, we would like the world to know about several issues 19-23
22 Athletics 0 Happy Mother's Day, say hi or I'll drop by. Rough week, our bullpen had some awful games esp w/ Kotsay's choices. Will possibly fall below the Astros this week as we play them along with the Royals, and unlike last year I don't think we're a better team than KC. Toro and Harris have been playing well with Soderstrom getting some reps in (A+ defense from them), but Gelof will likely return and change something there. 19-23
23 Reds -5 What is the meaning of suffering? This question has stumped philosophers throughout the ages, but nobody has come up with an answer. On the opposite side of this, we have also been in search of evidence of the divine, and we’ve searched for it in things like the miracle of our world. But again, we haven’t found anything. What if we’re looking in the wrong place? What if suffering is the greatest proof of a divine presence? Suffering is an art. Perhaps the greatest art ever devised. Devised by who or what though? Some greater power looming over us all? Some great cosmic being who looks upon us the same way as we do ants? Some primordial consciousness created trillions of years ago in the Big Bang that’s been merely existing all this time and only gets enjoyment out of the suffering of others? How do we figure this out? Who do we ask? I have a suggestion, we can ask baseball fans. We are connoisseurs of suffering. Ask an A’s fan about the meaning of suffering and you’ll get your answer just by looking into their eyes. Ask a Rockies fan, or a White Sox fan, or even a long dead Expos fan. It’s weeks like this that make me ask why do people even like baseball. Why do I even like baseball? Well, I remember my grandfather, since I live in the midwest we always called him Papaw, and he was the biggest baseball nut I know. He got me into baseball at a young age, and I remember one day asking why he loved it so much. When I say he was a baseball nut, I mean he was a season ticket holder, bought all the merchandise, had books about baseball and biographies written by baseball players, he had all of it. He could tell you everything about the sport with ease. So I asked him why did he love baseball so much because at that time I found it boring, and you know I still to this day remember his response. He told me baseball is 3 hours of nothing happening, but when something did happen, it was the most beautiful sport god ever created. I loved that man. Anyway this is all a long way to say the Reds suck ass right now. 17-23
24 Astros 0 Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there, especially yours. I'll visit her later, don't worry. The Astros continue to take 1 step forward and 3 steps back. Kyle Tucker is the man and we should extend him immediately. Our pitching is still mostly trash and no one deserves an extension. 15-25
25 Pirates -2 Paul Skenes made his highly-anticipated debut on Saturday, and it was one of two games the Pirates won last week. And they only won that game after first blowing a 6-1 lead thanks to 6 (SIX!) walks with the bases loaded. At one point. Kyle Nicolas threw 12 straight balls with the bases loaded. The bullpen was so depleted that Nicolas had to pitch the next day after Aroldis Chapman gave up 2 runs and 2 walks in the 10th inning, only for Nicolas to give up another run on a wild pitch. The Pirates then hit a 2-run homer in the bottom of the inning and lost 5-4. So yeah, that's how things are going in Pittsburgh right now. 18-23
26 Cardinals 0 Bro, I'm straight up not having a good time. 16-24
27 Angels 0 Hot and then cold and then hot again, Jo Adell hit three homers this past week. With a wRC+ on the season now standing at 134 and a wOBA of .363, the next step for him is now maintaining a level of consistency. With a bottom-ranking farm system, his future may not ultimately be in Anaheim. The looming rebuild is going to be a long and slow process and at the age of 25, it is hard to see much point in keeping him if someone else starts looking his way. 15-26
28 Rockies +2 We have the longest winning streak in baseball. We just swept the defending champs. I'm pretty sure that means Rocktober is coming. In all seriousness, the Rockies finally gelled for the first time this season. The Rangers didn't play poorly, the Rockies just played well. The concern now is what kind of "Coors Hangover" we'll see. 12-28
29 White Sox 0 The White Sox had a shockingly good week while clinching the season series against the Rays and winning 3 of 4 from the Guardians over the weekend. They have been playing objectively better baseball lately (which means that their 72 wRC+ season stat was at 84 last week, and their pitching has been middle of the league since the start of May). It's not much, but it's something. Myself, I'm excited to attend my first ball game of the year tonight. Of course, I'll be going to the Schaumburg Boomers home opener. 12-29
30 Marlins -2 So the fish still cant produce runs but at least we got burger back. Luzardo looks much better in his return to the bigs but oof braxton garrett. Somehow miami managed to squeeze out a win this week against two top teams but well see how they do against the tigers and mets this upcoming season. 11-31
