When I wrote this in Unity, I hand-coded the physics and friction because circle collision didn't work too great then when it came to friction.
I've started to make the game in Godot. So far I'm loving it and I initially thought I could use RigidBody2D for the golf ball as the built in friction from a circle Collider2D seemed to be far better. Unfortunately I've noticed that bouncing works as you'd expect 9/10 times, but sometimes bounces in a direction I wouldn't expect. See the clip attached - not all bounces are bad, but some are clearly off.
I have the following Rigidbody2D configured:
Gravity Scale: 0.9, Mass Distr: Auto, Deactivation Section - all unselected (Off) with Freeze Mode: Kinematic, Solver Section: Custom Integration: Off, Continuous CD: Disabled, Max Contacts Reported: 1, Contact Monitor: On
With the following Physics Material:
Mass: 0.2kg, Friction: 2 (tried a bunch of values from 0.5 to 2), Rough: Off, Bounce: 0.45, Absorbent: Off,
I need the contact monitor on to help keep track if I'm touching the ground as I only want to let the player hit the ball again when it's become ~stationary.
I'm using using `apply_impulse` with a vector to add the force to the player.
I've seen mentioned before that CharacterBody2D is the go-to 2D Node for player characters and you shouldn't use Rigidbody2D normally. Although given what my player character is - a ball - I figured maybe this is one of the edge cases where it might make sense.
How can I make the physics and bouncing work closer to what one would expect? Should I just switch to CharacterBody2D and code the physics myself?
All suggestions are welcome. Thanks for your help.

everything works, and feel free to use it, all you'll need is a priivateinternetaccess.com account, but how can I get my plex media server that is running on the host level or any other non docker app to reverse proxy so I can like my other services hit my hostname without having the port part. Every service runs through the VPN yet with the variable of my localnetwork I am able to have access locally to the services running within the vpn network, but when I use the how to on creating a reverse proxy for a non docker app what happens is I don't get any error output but I then cannot connect to the app that I set up (e.g. plex)

I started working for a systems integrator in controls/automation 2 and a half years ago, right after earning my BSEE. From the start, I was thrown to the wolves and quickly realized this company wasn't setup to train entry level engineers. While I never got any real guidance or training, it did teach me how to be a much better problem solver. For the first year, I did a lot of PLC/HMI programming, but the last year and a half I've just been designing control panels (which I definitely enjoy doing) for a huge job that's spanned the last 2 years. Once the job is over however, I'll have to go back to programming.
I ended up buying a cheap PLC course on Udemy and I have access to a S7-1200 and TIA Portal. Once I'm done viewing the contents of the course, what are some good PLC projects I could do on my own to practice?
