2024.05.20 06:31 FlameEmperor45 Egghead arc is boring and why we reached here.

For a background, I have been reading one piece in ongoing for 6 years now. Anime, manga, LN, WN I have a lot of stuff to compare one piece to.
For a long time, it's stayed in my top 10 series. The sole reason being the overarching story and world building. But I think, even they can't carry the horrible flaws in writing anymore.
Egghead arc is incredibly boring and has no value.
Let's see why that is.
  1. Biggest flaw, that harms egghead the most : "Lack of stakes". Since no one, and I mean no one is going to die. Even a pitiful side character, it's hard to really feel engaged. In fact, Vegapunk isn't dead for sure. But he isn't even a character we are invested in. Killing a character you just brought in, isn't a big deal. Because we have no connection with it.
  2. "Bad powerscaling" : and saying one piece isnt about power scaling is cope. It's a shonen action series. If it cant handle it, it's a weakness. You can't escape. Why it hurts egghead even more?
Look at it, we have 5 elders, who are stronger than an admiral. On strawhat's side, the only one at that level is luffy.
Now combine point 1 and 2 and we have a bad story. Those 4 elders going on rampage should have made quick work of everyone on the island. Luffy isn't stopping them. But of course, there are no stakes, so we ain't afraid of anyone dying. But worse yet, this means, there is nothing to be engaged in the story.
Even with such a massive threat, it's not engaging at all. How are nami-ussopp level even taking a single side blow? It's impossible. A good writing would have brought in some other help that could help them, or someone would be dying right now.
The point here isn't : I wanna see X person die. (Coz I know emotional people come in and say, so you just want X to die. That's not the point. If you say that, you have already missed the point) The point is, for an action story to be engaging, the characters need to be in risk. There is no risk in one piece. And we reached here through the dozen arcs, where we went through similar things.
Egghead is the culmination of it all. This arc has even more enemies (total threat level I mean) than Wano. But the people who can fight them are all gone. But there is no risk regardless.
  1. On one hand, there is a dark overarching story, but then we have these scenes where author is afraid to show deaths of enemies too. Luffy said he will take the head of Kaido, but he didn't. Of course kaido is dead, but how does luffy know that?
Sure he doesn't kill his enemies. But he isn't against disabling them, yes? Why didn't he disable Kizaru? The dude got in their way again and again. (And also killed Vegapunk. but wait, is he really dead?) The fakeouts are also, extremely annoying.
  1. Visible damage makes no sense : For example, a punch that can shatter mountains will disable the opponent but, he won't have any visible damage. I know it's a children's show or whatever. But when simple guns seem to penetrate their skins, it's looks ridiculous in comparison.
Also, Haki works on the surface, so if your mountain shattering sword hit penetrated their skin, they should be turned into mincemeat. Which doesn't happen.
Haki is basically like Qi in DBZ. But the bodies of one piece characters make no sense. What's the point of the Meitous if they can't even cut people in half. It's extremely childish.
What's truly sad, is one piece is has worse power scaling than DBZ and that's saying something.
It's probably not worth enough to stay in my top 10 anymore. The world building and overarching story can't carry anything, if the foreground stuff is horrible.
Tl;Dr - to summarise : Because the story has no stakes even when incredibly powerful opponents are in the arc which is multiplied by incredibly horrendous power scaling which then makes the battles completely meaningless and nonsensical. Its emphasized by the fact that damage makes no sense. And the cherry on top is when hundreds or thousands of people die through these battles, and luffy keeps his "no kill" vow. As if his random shot didn't just kill hundreds of fodders in that ship.
To finalise : one piece has some good points, but essentially it's being held down by many of the weaknesses I have seen in Japanese authors. These authors never had the skill to actually make something long, but they inadvertently made a famous story and had to make them into those long series. But they often lack the writing skills, so it still feels like an amateur write up.
The real reason for sucess of some of these stories is the simplicity they have. A simple plot with simple action = fun. It's not wrong, but it's not the critically acclaimed master piece the fans will claim it to be.
There are definitely several well executed gemstones among manga/LN/anime. So it's not to say that they don't exist. But that's out of the scope of this sub of course.

🔗Dysmio Clear Hammered Glass Ceiling Fan Cover Bell Shape

https://preview.redd.it/71z8zwuxdi1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ff1cd0e6ed9202e01c2735762f59f5eb1b64c5b5
As an avid interior design enthusiast, I've been continually scouting for ways to spruce up my living space without breaking the bank. I stumbled upon the Dysmio Ceiling Fan Light Covers and let me tell you, they've brought a whole new level of elegance and charm to my home. These small details make a world of difference when it comes to altering the atmosphere of a room.
The Dysmio Ceiling Fan Light Covers are traditional bell-shaped glasses made from clear hammered glass that gently ripples light, casting delicate patterns throughout my space. They've added a touch of sophistication and class that perfectly complements the existing decor. It's amazing how much of a difference a simple replacement of light covers can make in transforming your home's look and feel.
One thing that really stood out for me was the ease of installation. Each cover comes with its own mounting hole, making it a breeze to attach to my ceiling fans, wall lamps, and chandeliers. The standard 2-1/4-inch fitter also ensures versatility, so I didn't have to worry about compatibility issues.
However, the one aspect that could be improved is the size. With a height and depth of 4.75 inches, and a base width of 4.95 inches, they might not be the perfect fit for every type of light fixture. But in my case, they were just the right size to bring a renewed sense of style and ambiance to my living space.
In conclusion, the Dysmio Ceiling Fan Light Covers are an affordable and effective way to breathe new life into your home's lighting fixtures, transforming your living space with elegant and classic charm. I can wholeheartedly recommend these light cover replacements for anyone looking to elevate their interior design without breaking the bank.

I've recently added the Boao Gold Crystal Lamp Shade to my living room, and I couldn't be happier with the sparkle it brings to the space. This product not only gives off a warm, inviting glow, but it's also incredibly durable. The non-toxic paint ensures that it won't easily rust or fade, making it a great addition to any room.
One thing to note is that the assembly process does require some effort, but once it's up and running, the payoff is worth it. The diamond and cylindrical shape of the lampshade complements a variety of decors, making it a versatile piece to have in your home.
However, keep in mind that the size might not be ideal for those looking to install this in a smaller room or ceiling height. Additionally, the packaging could use some improvement to ensure that the delicate crystal pieces remain intact during shipping.
Overall, I would definitely recommend the Boao Gold Crystal Lamp Shade to anyone looking to enhance the ambiance of their living space with a touch of sparkle and elegance.

🔗Clear & Frosted Ceiling Fan Light Cover with Handmade Quality

I recently installed the XIDING Clear & Frosted Ceiling Fans Light Covers Glass Shade in my living room, and I must say, it's been a game-changer for my interior lighting. The handmade quality of this glass shade is truly impressive, and it adds a touch of elegance to our ceiling fan.
One of the best things about this glass shade is its compatibility with various ceiling fan light kit products that use a 2-1/8 inch fitter. This made replacing my old, damaged glass shade incredibly easy and straightforward. Plus, the water-resistant material makes cleaning a breeze!
However, it's crucial to correctly measure the inside diameter of your glass holder before purchasing this product. This ensures a perfect fit and avoids any disappointment upon installation. Additionally, although I didn't encounter any issues during installation, it's essential to have an adult on hand to assist with moving and placing the glass shade safely.
Customer satisfaction is a top priority for XIDING. If for any reason you are unhappy with your purchase, you can request a refund as long as the item and package are in original and perfect condition.
Overall, the XIDING Clear & Frosted Ceiling Fans Light Covers Glass Shade has completely transformed my living space, and I am confident that it will do the same for you. Its durable construction, versatile compatibility, and easy-to-clean surface make it a must-have addition to any home.

This product checks all the boxes - from its sleek, low-profile design to its high-quality construction, it definitely stands out.
What I really dug about the Turner Light Covers is their ease of installation. They come with their own patented trim ring mounting system which makes it incredibly easy to replace bulbs without fumbling around with tools or risking any injuries from hidden pests. The fact that they're compatible with up to 8-inch recessed lights adds to their versatility, making them suitable for both commercial and residential use.
Another key feature of these light covers is their resilience against heat and rust. They're built to handle the harsh outdoor elements, giving you peace of mind knowing they won't degrade over time. Additionally, the transparent screen provides protection without compromising on light output, ensuring your space stays bright and inviting.
However, despite all these positives, I did find one con - the price. It's a bit on the higher side compared to similar products in the market. But given the durability and convenience they offer, I think it's a worthwhile investment.

Another highlight of the glass shade is the way it beautifully filters the light, casting subtle raindrop-shaped patterns on my walls. It has transformed my space, giving it a touch of romance and artistry that I absolutely adore.
However, one concern I have is its fragility. I would advise handling it with care, as it might break if dropped.

As a homeowner who recently installed the Tenmat Recessed Light Cover, I can attest to its effectiveness in stopping unwanted air leakage through my recessed lights. I was initially concerned about how compatible these covers would be with my IC-rated recessed lights, but after reading through the installation instructions and checking the specs, I found that they worked perfectly.
The FF130E is made from a fire-safe material and has been tested to meet UL1598 and IEC 60598-1 standards, providing peace of mind when it comes to safety. One of the standout features of this product is its ease of installation; it took me just a few minutes to cover each light without any special tools or assembly required.
Another positive aspect of the Tenmat Recessed Light Cover is its ability to save energy. By providing an airtight seal over my recessed lights, I've noticed a significant reduction in drafts and noise, leading to a more comfortable living space.
However, there is one drawback worth mentioning. Some users might find the product's price point to be slightly higher than other alternatives on the market. Despite this, I believe the quality and performance of the Tenmat FF130E make it a worthwhile investment for anyone looking to improve their home's energy efficiency and overall comfort.

🔗Stained Glass Light Shade for Chandelier, Wall Sconce or Pendant

I decided to upgrade my lighting fixtures to give my home a new look, which led me to discover the Skelang Glassy Light Shade. Upon receiving it, I was immediately drawn to the beautiful stained glass design in blue and white.
The light shade has a 1-5/8 inch fitter diameter, and it was easy to install on my light fixture with the E26 socket ring. I recently used the EZ Shade Clip on Ceiling Light Bulb Cover in my garage, and I absolutely love it! It was super easy to install, and it completely transformed the look of my garage. The matte white shade covers the exposed bulb and provides a nice, diffused light that's perfect for working on projects.
One of the best things about this product is that it really is "EZ" to install. I mean, it took me less than a minute to clip it onto the bulb – no tools or re-wiring required! The scratch, UV, and shatter-resistant materials make me feel confident that my light bulb is secure and won't cause any safety concerns.
However, there was one minor inconvenience that I experienced. The metal clasp could be a little more versatile in terms of positioning. For instance, I had to bend it slightly to accommodate the shape of my light bulb, but it wasn't a big deal and it didn't affect the overall performance of the product.
I also appreciate the fact that this product is made in the USA by local and family-owned businesses. Plus, each purchase supports the disabled community by providing vocational work. It's a win-win for everyone!
Overall, I am extremely happy with the EZ Shade Clip on Ceiling Light Bulb Cover. It's a simple yet effective solution for covering exposed bulbs and improving the ambiance of any room. I highly recommend giving it a try!

What I love most about these glass shades is how versatile they are - not only do they fit perfectly onto my ceiling fan, but they also work seamlessly with my flush mount ceiling lights.
The high-quality glass feels extremely durable and sturdy, and I am confident that they will last for many years to come. Additionally, I am impressed with how easy these shades are to clean and maintain, which is a major plus in my book.
One minor drawback is that the installation process could be made slightly easier, as it was a bit of a challenge to align the shades perfectly. However, this is a relatively small issue in comparison to the overall satisfaction I have with these glass shades.
In conclusion, the Lamp Replacement for Ceiling Fan - Clear Ribbed is an excellent choice for anyone looking to update their ceiling light fixtures with a stylish and functional solution.

For a deeper clean, you may use a mild soap diluted in water, but always ensure the cover is thoroughly dried afterward.

Do I need any special tools or knowledge to replace my ceiling light cover?

How do I know which type of ceiling light cover will match my existing decor?

Consider the style, material, and color of your room's existing decor when selecting a new ceiling light cover. Glass or clear light covers provide a timeless, elegant look, while opaque or patterned covers can add a modern or vintage touch to your space. Ensure the cover blends seamlessly with your room's design and color scheme.

Can I install a ceiling light cover replacement myself, or should I hire a professional?

Homeowners with basic electrical knowledge can typically replace their ceiling light covers without the help of a professional. However, if you feel uncomfortable or unsure about handling electrical components, it's recommended to hire a licensed electrician for safety reasons.

How much does it cost to replace a ceiling light cover?

The cost to replace a ceiling light cover can vary greatly depending on the type of material, style, and brand of the new cover. Prices typically range from $10 to $50 or more for high-end designs. Adding the cost of installation by a professional can add an additional $50 to $100 or more to the total cost.

How can I find the best ceiling light cover replacement options?

To find the best ceiling light cover replacement options, consider browsing home improvement stores, visiting online retailers, and reviewing customer feedback from other purchasers. Comparing prices and styles from several sources can help you identify the most suitable option for your needs and budget.

2024.05.20 06:29 Patient_Ad3716 My brother is a union plumber, hired me to build a website for a side job business and promote it but worried about potential legal issues...

Found out he's not technically licensed or insured even though his business cards say it and the website I built for him says it. I thought all union plumbepipefitters were licensed... He does commercial plumbing work for extremely big projects in Ohio, new construction but the side jobs would be evening/weekend residential repair and new installation upgrades. He doesn't want to pay taxes on the side jobs so he doesn't want to incorporate with an LLC so this is really challenging for me because in order to promote him or work with Google on targeted ads or do search engine optimization to get him clients I need some kind of business name as a title that he shows up as, whether in targeted Google ads or as one of the Google search engine results or in one of the many business directories for professional plumbers that I need to link his name and website and contact info to in order to make him a top Google search result.
I understand not wanting to pay taxes, especially when he is already in a high tax bracket from making $48 an hour at his regular 9-5 but taxes are a fact of life.. I don't like paying taxes either. Since he doesn't want to get an LLC I need to make sure the business name I use isn't actually registered so he doesn't get sued, I have to worry about whether or not Google and other platforms verify licensure and insurance and incorporation before allowing ads or being added to their directories, it's a frickin mess..
Have any of you guys had a side job business and managed to have your website at the top of Google without incorporating and being licensed and insured? He said he can get insured, that's not an issue but I don't understand why he isn't licensed...is it that hard? How do you make $48 an hour and a union journeyman with 20 years experience but not licensed? He definitely has the training, skill, experience...but years back he was addicted to heroin for a while and got a couple theft charges, does that prevent you from being a licensed plumber in Ohio? He's been clean for many years now...If that's the reason why, I don't know if he's ever checked into whether or not it's a deal breaker for lice sure. The licensing is up to a state board, right? It was a pretty long time ago now, since the theft... Seems like they would license him since he hasn't been in trouble since that fiasco if that were the issue.
But yeah, if anyone is familiar with what my brother is trying to accomplish with his side business or what I'm trying to accomplish helping to promote his side work through the website I designed for him and am looking to promote, any advice/info would be greatly appreciated.
Im not a tax accountant but I wish I could convince him to just get an LLC and just pay taxes, would certainly make it easier for me to promote this side business. It seems like he could easily be targeted by the IRS and he wouldn't have protection from getting sued and a lot of jobs wouldn't work out if they are jobs being paid for by insurance companies that probably require work to be done by licensed, insured, plumbers and by someone with a tax id/ with an llc.
Even though he would be paying a lot of tax money, it seems like he could take advantage of a lot of tax write offs. Wouldn't he be able to write off payments for his new truck, a portion of his mortgage payment since some of his house could be claimed as office space, cell phone bill for service calls, gas for service calls, etc? If you have info like that and know real numbers of the savings from tax write offs and real cost numbers of hiring an accountant and things like filing articles of incorporation that could help convince him to do all of this the legit way I would really appreciate it! Thanks.

2024.05.20 06:27 Original_Exercise968 How to Identify the Perfect Signage for Your Business?

Choosing the right signage should be a top priority for any business, whether you are just starting out or you are a well-established company. Your signage works for you 24/7, telling customers who you are, where you are, and what you do.
Effective business signage should be key components to your marketing strategy to help you promote your products and services. Here are some steps to follow when choosing your signage.
STEP 1: DETERMINE YOUR BUDGET
Your budget will help you determine a number of things when you are choosing signage such as:
When you are setting your budget, keep in mind how cost-effective signage is. It is one of the few types of advertising that, once it is paid for and installed, it keeps working for you without any additional costs except the occasional maintenance tasks.
Also remember that if you invest a little more in a higher quality sign, it will last longer and will not have to be replaced as quickly which will save you money in the long run.
If your budget is tight, then you can invest in a good quality storefront sign first and then add extra signage as the funds become available.
STEP 2: CHOOSE THE RIGHT SIGNAGE COMPANY TO WORK WITH
There are many companies that do custom business signs, so how can you know which one is the best choice for you. Here are some tips to follow:
Choose a full-service company: It's better to work with a company that can design, manufacture, install, and maintain your signage for you. A full-service company will work with you form the start to the completion of your signage.
They will know what you want because they helped you design it, they will make it to your exact specifications, and they will know how to best install and maintain it, because they made it.
Choose a local company: Working with a local company has great benefits as well. They will be familiar with any signage bylaws in your area so you can be sure that your signs will be built according to those guidelines and they will know what permits or other paperwork is required and will help you obtain those.
If anything goes wrong, it's easier to contact a local company than one that is located far away.
Choose a company with experience and a good reputation: You want to find a company that has lots of experience in the signage industry and that has made the type of signage that you want for your business.
Check out the past projects that they have done and check out their online reviews to see what their customers think about their work.
STEP 3: CHOOSE THE RIGHT DESIGN FOR YOUR SIGNAGE
Now that you know how much you can spend and what company you want to work with, it's time to design your signage. Here are some things to consider when choosing your design.
Think about your demographic: If you are targeting a certain type of customer, then you will want to have signage that will appeal to them.
For example, if your demographic is a younger audience, then choose fun and lively colours, fonts, images, and a message that will appeal to that generation. If your demographic is a more traditional then you probably want to choose more traditional colours, images, fonts and messages.
Tell your signage company what demographic you are targeting and they can help you design the right type of signage for that market.
Make sure your signage is visible: Your signage can be an effective advertising tool, but only if it can be seen. Make sure that your sign is large enough to be seen from the distance that you want and that the fonts are easy to read with lettering big enough and properly spaced apart.
If you are in a dark corner or if you want customers to see your signage at night, then you should choose backlit or another type of illumination for your sign.
The colours that you choose also play an important part in making your signage more visible. You want to choose colours with high contrast in both hue and value. If you use high contrasting colours then then can be seen from greater distances than low contrasting colours.
According to the Outdoor Advertising Association of America, "research demonstrates that high colour contrast can improve outdoor advertising recall by 38 percent." Black on yellow and black on white are two very high contrasting colour combinations whereas red on yellow and white on red have a very low contrast.
Choose the right materials: Your signage company can help you choose the right types of materials to use in your sign. Let them know how long you want your sign to last and where it will be put up as this will help determine the best type of materials to use. Some options include:
Keep it simple: When it comes to signage, less is usually more. You want to avoid too much clutter in your design and make sure that you include lots of white space. White space simply refers to the empty space around your text and graphics. this empty space can be a colour, it doesn't have to be white.
If your text is too crowded and too long, it will be more difficult to read especially by passing motorists. It is a good idea to leave about 30 to 40 percent of your signage space blank.

2024.05.20 06:26 BlueCloud45 A quick message

Never did I expect to be writing this, or that this game that we all love would lead to something like this, but here we are.
After the posting of today’s results, it was made clear that many people disagreed with certain choices that were made by the judges panel. Now, I am all for disagreement. It is healthy to have our ideas challenged and have people disagree with us, when it is done in a respectful manner. What I did not expect to come out of this afternoon’s results posting was personal attacks against our judges panel. While I can only speak on what I know of, I am sure more has been said than I am aware of. I have always been a big advocate of the fact that it is perfectly fine if you disagree with decisions that are made, as long as at the end of the day you respect those making the decisions. That seemed to have been lost a little bit today and I just want to address it briefly…
I’ll just start by saying this: I ultimately was the person who decided that Tracy was the winner. You can ask any of the five other judges that were a part of the conversation, I ultimately was who decided Tracy as the winner of the looksync between her and Liz. I think Liz had a great look as well, but I saw the vision that Tracy was going for. I saw what she intended with the reveals, I saw the story she was trying to tell, and I admired the interpretation of the song. I know that vision was not clear to everyone, and I know that many people felt that a different decision should be made. But, at the end of the day, that was the decision made, and the world keeps spinning. If you all truly need someone to direct frustration at over this decision, please, feel free to send it my way at u/BlueCloud45 and I will happily have a conversation with you about. I respect your differing opinion, and I would hope you will respect mine as well.
What I will not tolerate and will not stand here and let happen is any hate or personal attacks on the character of anyone involved in this decision. This is a game that we all love, and Cali and I started this race because we loved the game and loved the way these competitions brought together likeminded people to build friendships and a community. That has always been the goal for us, and always will be. Hatred and Personal Attacks have no place here. We are all still people at the end of the day, playing a game of pixels.
With that said, I look forward to the remainder of this season with all of you, and especially the queens involved this season who have put in amazing work.
With love,
Orchid 🌷

2024.05.20 06:24 deepdarksecrets My [F31] long distance partner [M33] of over 2 years got drunk and was terrible to my friends. How do I move past this? Should I?

The background:
This is a long story because there's a lot of important background info that's relevant, but I want to start by saying my partner is a very kind, thoughtful, communicative, intelligent, and passionate man. We are from different countries, with different native languages, and are both currently living in my country (US). We met living in a major city, got very invested in each other very quickly, and after about 3-4 months he dropped a bomb that he'd applied for PhD programs all over the world and gotten into one in Europe. I have a really fantastic job and am pursuing an industry funded PhD in the city we met in, so moving was not an option for me. I had just gotten out of a LDR about a year prior to meeting him, and it really did not work for me because I value physical contact. But I really loved this man, he was so wonderful, treated me like an absolute princess in a way I've never really experienced, and I couldn't bare the thought of ending things, so we tried to make it work.
Fast forward, it's been like 2 more years. He reapplied to schools in the US and left his program in Europe to come back here and be closer to me (the visa issues and cost of the trans Atlantic flight were very difficult to manage). He is still a 2hr plane ride and 3 hour car ride away. This is tough because he doesn't have a car, but we see each other approximately every other month for at least a weekend, and spend summer break in my city.
For a variety of reasons, we are still really struggling. Our communication is off, and we have constant arguments and misunderstandings. I think we often miss each other because things are literally lost in translation (I am taking classes to learn his language, but we still primarily communicate in English). Our lives are now very different - I make a decent amount of money, travel frequently, I have roots in my city, and a good friend group and busy social life. This was how both of our lives were when we met, but he's now making very little money as a student and so he really can't travel even on a budget, a lot of his friendships have fallen off or moved away, and he's living in rural Midwestern US. I care so much but I'm losing track of what we had in common, and it's increasingly difficult for me to just "flip the switch" into relationship mode when he is here.
The conflict:
We had a very healthy but also honest conversation when he arrived for the summer a few weeks ago that neither of us were very happy, our communication is really poor, and decided that we would try to actively improve our relationship this summer and reassess if we wanted to continue in the fall. His program has 4 more years. I live in a big house with several friends because a) the rent in my city is insane for a single person and b) I like the company.
We had a big party yesterday, as we do a few times a year, and my boyfriend had fun all day, but at some point got really drunk and told my roommates' partner that he used to hate her, but he likes her a lot more now. I didn't witness this, and he wouldn't or couldn't tell me what he said, but another roommate approached him to say this really wasn't okay and the person was hurt by his words. He brushed it off saying he didn't mean it. We've talked a lot about how what you mean isn't as important as how it is perceived, and that having a filter is important, and my roommate was echoing these exact things I've said to him (which I have never mentioned to her), so I very much believe it happened. The partner he said this to also lives in our house about 50% of the time. My roommates allow him to live with us rent free over the summers because he has to maintain a residence in the state his uni is in and is pretty much flat broke, but this is really just out of kindness on their part. They could very easily ask for addition rent (our rate was just hiked significantly) and besides that, he's disturbed the peace in my home, which I really do not like.
He then sat down next to me (I was playing video games on the couch with a male friend, who is recently engaged, very kind, and totally platonic) and my boyfriend started muttering under his breath about how I wanted this guy and we were fucking or something. I don't even think my friend understood it was directed at him, but I definitely did. At this point I brought my boyfriend upstairs because I didn't want him to say any more shitty things to my friends. I asked him very calmly what was going on and he could barely make eye contact, would not acknowledge what I was saying, and wouldn't give me any straight answers. He then proceeded to say a bunch of horrible shit about our relationship, how it was already over there was no point trying, I would be happier fucking other people. I cried and hyperventilated all night and sent him to a friend's in the morning. I should mention that I am the child of a really nasty drunk who used to say horrible things and not remember anything in the morning. This experience really really triggered me.
I've had several lesser unpleasant experiences with him while drinking, and one major one where he made a friend's partner cry in front of a huge group of people while drinking at a beer garden. In that situation, what the person was saying was shitty, and it was okay to call her out, but he couldn't exercise the self control to stop himself from hammering her into the ground about it to the point of tears. This woman is now engaged to his best friend and their friendship has never been the same since this happened. For someone who genuinely is a thoughtful and emotionally aware person, I think he really struggles to read the room. He's very proud of his country, generally stubborn, and politically opinionated and this can be really damaging combined with the communication issues I often experience with him. He is fluent in English, but doesn't understand a lot of nuances (how strong the word "hate" is, for example, or when someone is trying to politely change an uncomfortable topic). All of these traits get a lot worse with alcohol and while I don't think he's an addict, I do think he's shown a few times now that he is an angry drunk, which is very scary to me.
In the morning, he was very apologetic and accepted the blame and said he would take steps to fix this problem so he wasn't drunk like this around me again, but I fear he's damaged a relationship with my friends and housemates, and also with me, in a way that's not easily repairable. We were already struggling, and I was very committed to trying to resolve our differences, and work on our relationship, but I am no longer sure it's worth trying. This is something that will take a lot of time for me to get over, and we don't have that much time together, and we also don't have very much space. He is staying with friends for a few days but beyond that if I can't deal with sharing my room he just needs to go back to his state
Am I overreacting to this situation? Would you try and work it out? I recognize that this is a trigger for me, and maybe I could get past it with time. Our relationship was already a little broken, and now feels shattered. I am so sad sitting here without him, but I am so upset I don't know how to move forward. Is it just time to move on from this? I love this guy so much but maybe I am beating a dead horse here.
Tl;Dr Long distance relationship of ~2.5 years between people from very different cultures is constantly encountering obstacles related to communication, despite a lot of very healthy and honest discussions about it. The communication issues overflowed to my friends and roommates during a party, and dealing with my angry drunk boyfriend brought up a lot of trauma from being raised by an angry alcoholic. Unsure if I'm overreacting or if it's just time to cut this off.

2024.05.20 06:23 Kayxluna Any advise on how to focus on studying?

Hey all. I'm having some trouble with getting over a mental blockade that's hindering me from going full throttle with studying for this exam. I graduated with my bachelor's in bio with a concentration in premed + minor in psych with a 3.84 GPA in 2022. Then graduated from paramedic school in 2023 and now I'm a nationally registered + state-licensed paramedic. I have field experience with riding out with the fire department and even ran cardiac arrests in the field with the fire medic crew. On top of that, I had to do a ton of clinical rotations in the Etriage/med surge/trauma/PICU at 3 different hospitals. I collected some experience at a cadevar lab recently which further solidified how I am completely unbothered by seeing inside the body and the associated bodily substances (I also figured that out in the field when I was on airway during an arrest and had vomit come up onto me). My goal is to be a surgeon (considering either plastics or cardio surgery; paramedic made me love cardio after learning how to read ecgs and memorizing the drug algorithms). I love medicine and by no means do I want to stay at the paramedic level. I've told myself since undergrad that surgeon is the goal. I just can't get over this mental fortitude that's making me avoid studying. I'm VERY disciplined when it comes to studying, once I sit down, it's all over. I commit. I just find myself doing everything and anything but sitting down. I'm currently attending online Kaplan MCAT sessions every Wednesday and I do pay attention. I had a good start with reviewing my biochemistry, was reading the books, made flashcards. But now I'm slacking big time.
P.S - I'm currently not working as a paramedic. I have a recent offer to work as an associate clinical lab scientist. It seems low-stress and something I can easily manage doing (also sounds cool). Signed up to volunteer for hospice and children's centers too.
ANY advice would be appreciated. I want MD. I do. I just need the kick in my butt to get on the ball.

2024.05.20 06:23 Its_sven1 Long distance relationship

I apologize in advance for the length of this behemoth Story time Reddit: Last night I was chilling at a camp grounds in upstate NYC and this really cute bartender was on her first day ever for the job, anyways I didn’t even notice her until a community dinner at 6pm when she got some food and went to the bar to get ready for the night because us folks at the camp were gonna party till LATE I’m 18M turning 19 and I had aspirations to be a bartender myself in the familiar country of Mexico where my family operates a gin booze business. she 22F just turned and I was eager to Yk like ask her how her first day on the jobs going right? Now I time goes by we all just chilling having dinner and our rolls out some Gigachad kitchen employees with dessert and everybody fiends the fucking ice cream sandwich bars and I hastily think about the fellow bartenders out the back of the building (it’s the girl I’m taking about whose new and one other girl whom is basically her chaperone because they are her aunt) approach the bar with 2 ice cream sandwiches asking if they wanted the last stock of what remained of dessert 😂 they politely decline and I just give them away to my boys and walk back to the main cafeteria area and around 5 minutes pass people start to clear out and I not really a drinker and not of age to drink in the US (although I have been to other countries to bars that you don’t need to be 21 to drink all fine) Sit down at the bar with the 2 bartender ladies, i start yapping about all the musical bullshit I do in life and the video game I’m developing and whatnot and that’s why I came up to nature to record the ambient sounds for my project idk why BUT then when I realize is that the girl whose new’s eyes fixated on me intensely full German stare and I’m kinda intimidated ngl, so ofc as a good bartender would ask, they ask if I want anything to drink and i politely decline because I wasn’t really thirsty 💀 We start to just chat a bit I ask about how their day went and then that’s when I realize the new girl whose bartending it’s her first day and she’s absolutely drunk out the wazoo, I feel kind of bad because she was about to just go take a walk break and I saw she could barely even move straight 💀 so I ask “so what are some good things to do around here?” They reply really excited that before it gets too dark (somehow they say that and it’s already becoming 8:30 and dark at out) I should go to this really pretty creek waterfall and the absolutely double whammy hammered chick volunteers to take me. Now me skeptical af and realizing that either A, she can’t keep her eyes of me because she’s deadbeat drunk or B, she thinks I’m cute and wants to know me this is why she offered to take me to a cool place. I accept and I have to walk this girl out the bar because she’s in heels and bouncing all over the place. We make it to a downhill section we have to cross and I see her struggling and ask if she needs a hand and she hastily accepts, next thing up her arms are basically spaghetti and rolling with the wind as we make it down this hill her holding onto me for dear life. We start to walk a bit and I start to ask the big legal concern questions that us “technically inclined” men ask like “How old are you” “Do you have a boyfriend?” And “Are you in school?” I eventually get all these answers and we by some will of god walk up to an abandoned dark horror movie looking ass tipi (basically this ⛺️ thing for u non cultured swines) for some reason my hood senses start tingling and the white girl slasher film mindset goes into my mind like “Why the fuck am I about to go in there?” But hey YOLO why not go into creepy dark crowded place with drunk girl? We waltz up into that bitch looking like injured bank robbers clobbering all over the ground because the ground muddy and we can barely fit into the small opening of it, point is in there she starts basically interviewing me fucking speed run piers style and I answer being sober decently competent. Me not trying to make her feel uncomfortable turn my flashlight on to scout the area and we realize there’s some makeshift bench in there so we have a seat. She doesn’t like the fact the lights on and then she asks “do you want to kiss” and proceeds to inform me I’m a weirdo for turning on the light. Now I’m like: “ aight what the fuck girl like it’s dark spooky af out the hell u want me to do get mauled by spiders in this Native American trap house? Then Yk me never had a girlfriend and curious accepts her kiss offer and right as we are about to friggin kiss a RANDOM ASS NPC COUPLE SPAWNS IN AND JUST WALKS UP TO OUR FUCKING TIPI! What are the fucking odds bro, like it’s pitch black basically out and I’m in the middle of the woods, now they see us (we look hella sus at that moment) and kinda just walk away after being like “ooooh cool!” But anyways I get a pretty Alr first kiss, get insulted for being a horrible kisser and walk it off quoting myself “Bro it’s cuz I’m a Libra right?” Jokingly anyways we kinda talk a bit she enlightens me on some personal facts and me too, I ask if she’s had a boyfriend and she says yeah I would had asked how many but didn’t weirdly enough and she’s asked me then if I had ever had a girlfriend and I respond honestly that nope I haven’t and she doesn’t buy it, she thinks I’m lying. She then proceeds to ask me how tall I am and me being a tall ass mf for my race i respond “6 foot 3” and she’s like DAMNNNNNNN ewwww. I’m dying of laughter and ask what’s wrong. I never get a response 😭 Anyways she then decides to empty her pockets and she came for some reason with basically a mythical rarity load out of pocket loot. 2 Cinnamon booze plastic shots, lip gloss, chapstick and a cart. Now me being the worlds biggest glorified coward who never smoked and almost never drinks was amazed she had all this shit on her. I ask her how much she had to drink tonight and she told me how for every drink she served she also drank (idk why tf weird flex but ok?) we then kinda decide to go out of the tent because all of a sudden she wants to explore the pitch black woods when we both have very little phone battery left for flashlight. I think in my sober mind that’s a horrible idea and I remember in the back of my mind we had to be back in an hour from like 8:30pm and I remind her assuming she will have it into account but fail to realize SHES DRUNK AF AND CANT PROCESS SHIT!!! Anyways we walk around the creek bed and eventually we have a seat and just weirdly enough lay down watch the stars and talk about romantic stuff, she is very kind all of a sudden and we are just laughing wholeheartedly and enjoying ourselves and occasionally she tries to sloppily kiss me and I’m kinda just laying there like : 🙃. But yeah we there doing all that and then she somehow convinced me to do shots of the weird spicy booze she brought and I was very nervous and almost about to fully fold because I had a lot of important things in my life impending in the coming days and I didn’t want to fuck something up being drunk (not knowing myself if I’m a lightweight or heavyweight drinker) We each do one and I’m kinda there lying paralyzed and shivering in my boots not because of the alcohol but because of the nerves I am chilling with a girl on a beauty of a night next to some lovely sounding creek noises and making out. Me being the newbie I am just go along with anything she says or does because I’m not trying to blow what I have going Yk. But yeah time passes we just there on essentially natures lawn hugging and kissing and talking about cute life aspirations and then I have to break the hard news to her, I inform her I won’t be staying around long by any means ( I leave the next day back to da hood for school) and I feel so bad inside! Like this girl even age difference aside whatever was very kind and I didn’t want to ruin what we had going so I try and explain how I would try to visit her and later the next day I am able to check that tickets cost roughly $50 for one ways to the town she lives in and takes 2 hours and a half something if me for love I was able to do im down ig… Now as a recap: She knows I live super duper far away, She and I both understand we don’t want to ruin what we have and we are trying to see how we can keep this going. I hear someone scream her voice and then I’m like Awww shit ur in trouble right? I check my phone and it’s MOTHERFUCKING 11PM!!!! I’m like OH SHIT WE BEEN GONE A WHILE DAMNNN, I pull her up off the ground and try to get her to her aunt who I assumed was looking for her and then we sadly said it last farewell quickly. She kisses me and then she gets yoinked and chewed tf outta by basically her big auntie bartender me feeling horrible and all because I was so immature not checking the time, I walk up to her to take responsibility for the situation and not be a beta male type character she asks me all of a sudden if I’m “ok or hurt” and I say yeah I’m fine and then she walks away and for some reason my good manners and habits kick in as I quietly shout “good night” and she shouts back “yeah good fucking night!” Slams the door with my newfound friend and they both gone. I feel real bad for the situation but hey it already happened, and I then find out from some of my fellow campers that she was threatening essentially to call the state police because people have gotten lost in the woods but in my head I’m like NUH UH I GOT S TIER GOD MEMORY!!! Anyways I do have the girl I was withs number I message her apologizing for not being more responsible and whatnot and then a lot of time happens from there on. I go to bed at 1:30am, wake up the next morning at 6:57am and I’m worried because she hasn’t responded. I paranoid and feeling like a hopeless romantic sit around stressing for hours until BOOM I get off a call checking up with my moms who was out of town get a message from my dear bartender girl! I’m beyond ecstatic and try to see if we can say goodbye because I have to go so soon that same day (today as I’m writing this) we try to compromise and plan but sadly it doesn’t work out for us and we just don’t get a well deserved farewell. I feel truly defeated and depressed about it and people I’m with are speculating how I have barely eaten in all the hours I have been up today. I reply it’s that m stresses but don’t go into detail trying to avoid ancontroversial discussion. This girls name is Sofia and I as I hope a constituted decent person hope I can keep this relationship but there are a few obstacles. 1, she lives 2 hours best case scenario from me. 2, she doesn’t really answer my messages until very late after I send them (for example i message her 12:30 she responds then doesn’t respond until past 5pm same day) and It’s hard to have a relationship with flawed communication I can see. Now for me I have always wanted to find love but never really succeeded in it and I’m truly just grateful for having any experience like this at all and I want to hear feedback from fellow guys and girl as to what I should do to keep this a respectful and responsible relationship you know?
Sincerely and looking forward to feedback, K

2024.05.20 06:20 Imaginary-Isopod9563 The night I stopped being what she wanted

Donna liked a DJ at this bar in Boston with jellyfishes dancing behind the bar in an aquarium.
So, we went every night he was there, even nights he wasn’t there, to that bar, and then 2-3 other bars because she liked to pop around, looking.
This night though, she finally closed the deal with the DJ she had been hunting for so many weeks. She was finally taking him home. And me, to heour place. cool. I was ready for sleep, but her DJ said he had to stop, to pick to something up.
I assumed cigarettes.
A dude got in the car in the back with me. Someone I’d never met, who proudly told me he had a very big dick before he introduced himself by name.
The “something” her DJ “had” to pick up was a friend that I was apparently supposed to just sleep with.
Was I drunk enough and had I such a reduced self worth at that point that I was just supposed to have sex with some guy her DJ crush just picked up on the way to heour place?
This best friend I trusted so much, with everything; she was sober enough to drive us home, and pick up a friend of the DJ—and I was now supposed to have sex with someone that I didn’t know. She didn’t care about me. She had a goal and it was the conquest of this DJ.
That night out I had a lot to drink, and I didn’t know how to say no in a way that would diffuse the situation—so, after this stranger laid himself in my bed without my permission, and Donna had gone into her room with the DJ, I started smacking the stranger, playfully at first.
I didn’t have the words to convey I wasn’t a willing participant, and that I assumed I was expected to sleep with him, but I didnt want to.
So, my body defended itself.
I smacked him again, in my bed as I straddled this stranger.
Again, and again.
He was ok with it, until I wouldn’t have sex with him.
When it was finally apparent my slaps weren’t going to end in sexy times, and I was just slapping this stranger in my bed around, he’d had enough.
I wasn’t the easy meal he and the DJ had planned on.
The stranger interrupted Donna and her DJ in her room, and demanded to be taken home because I was “crazy.”
Donna’s DJ had to leave with me ruining her night, because I didn’t have the capacity to say “no, I’m not going to sex this rando the DJ picked up like a pack of cigs.”
This was the beginning of the downfall of our friendship.
Before this the micro aggressions she inflicted daily were palatable, but after that night, it was clear I was cramping her style and my days were numbered.
She had tagged me along for law school, but only insofar as I was a benefit, in some way, to her.
That night I ceased to be the go-along friend, and the dude I didn’t have sex with left chastising me. Her disappointment in me for not playing along lasted so much longer than any hang over ever would.
When everything is all about outward appearances, a poor nerd girl that would rather stay at home and play World of Warcraft isn’t the best wing-man.

2024.05.20 06:19 Sufficient-City-1024 am i being nonsensical here or is my upset valid

my friend and i were trying to make plans. she said “i’ll have availability all summer” and i told her that my work weeks will be hard as i’ll be working full time and i’m managing onset of some disorders i deal with, and she’s now not responded to any of my texts for the last 72 hours, but she’s been posting on her stories and posting screenshots of texts from her other friends. i didn’t even mention the splitting or anything and i only texted her twice after that and replied to her story on instagram, so i don’t think i’m being over bearing but i’ve been losing it since she stopped responding, and have drafted several very mean, very frantic, and very heartbroken texts before deleting them and just crying until i can’t anymore.
we recently had an issue like this where she disappeared on me and stopped responding and came back apologizing big time and i forgave her because she’s my best friend and like a little sister to me, and she promised it wouldn’t happen again bc she knew how badly it triggered me. that’s why this particular time is making me lose my marbles.
it’s starting to affect my other relationships too. am i being justified or am i upset for no reason?

2024.05.20 06:19 sentientplants Big realizations after grave's diagnosis / mini rant

Hello, I'm 27F and wondering if you think what I'm feeling and desiring is normal or delusional. Or perhaps a part of grave's, or the reaction to accepting the reality of it. I'm thinking a mix of everything.
My question is, when you got diagnosed with Grave's did you have sudden big realizations about the foundations of your friendships/relationships? Or other realizations about big things in your life that needed to change?
For context, I've had a history with depression and anxiety since I was 15. I was also diagnosed with autism (the lowest level) 6 months ago and Grave's disease 3 months ago. Not sure how long I've officially had Grave's for but I know it's a thing for your thyroid to make you feel batshit insane sometimes. I always consider myself to be a bit neurotic in every day life, and maybe a little crazy during times of extreme stress, betrayal, grief, heartbreak etc. I take mirtazapine for depression/anxiety and propanolol and methimazole. I'm also mostly sober, cut out alcohol and drugs, it's been tough mentally. Though I occasionally take cbd edibles to watch movies.
Lately it's been hard for me to relate to my current friends and have fun with them. I feel like they don't really understand what I go through every day (heart palpitations, anxiety, sweating, fatigue, depression) even when I explain it to them. I don't necessarily downplay it but I don't make it all about myself every time we hang out if you know what I mean. I'm honest but I try not to take up too much space (always been this way.) It's just that some of my friends don't really ask how I'm doing and I've realized they never really did as long as I've known them, which is offputting to me now... Also none of them are sober and the times I've went out with them I just felt so depressed that I couldn't participate in drinking, smoking etc. I've stopped going out much but whenever I do decide to go out, I just feel so under-stimulated, deeply sad and alone.
I often want to re-root my whole life, start from scratch and meet new people. Instinctively I want to cut off my current friends but I don't know if that's right move. We have more in common than just going out of course, but I still feel like I'm not seen and understood in the way I want to be. But I also don't have new close friends to turn to yet. I'm looking for other sober people on Bumble For Friends, and coincidentally met some other people who also have autoimmune illnesses, both on the app and in person. I'm hoping something will grow there, but I'm having trouble escalating to being real friends. I just feel like I've had my current friends for so long I've forgotten how to build new relationships, maybe that's partly an autism thing. Either way I think it's something I need to learn how to do. Any tips in general about that?
At the moment I'm feeling very stuck and depressed. I don't want to reply to texts or go on instagram and see how happy everyone is when I'm so miserable with this disease and accepting sobriety. But I also yearn to be understood and have fun again, to restart, discover who I am and what kinds of people I want to be friends with.

2024.05.20 06:18 ThrowRApalmayqueso (UPDATE) I [30M] think my wife [29F] is in love with her female best friend.

Hi, it's been a long time and my other posts here got deleted so I give up in trying to post a final update and forgot about this site but today I saw that someone posted it on a site and I think is good to post an update because. I saw that there are people who keep sending me private messages asking how I'm doing. (I deleted the first post to Edit a few things)
I'm finally divorced, I thought it would take at least eight months to complete but it was faster than I thought since in my country it takes the signature of only one person for the divorce to be completed. She started making things complicated for me when she realized that we were really going to part ways, she even made up that I had cheated on her when I had only said that we were going to divorce because of differences, that way no one would ask, not even her parents who now think that I'm the one who cheated but I don't care. But as I always say; I got tired of trying to understand her and her actions.
I was very afraid that she might keep the house because she doing a lot of things because she wanted the house, but I didn't wanted to deal with her anymore so I just gave her a few of the furniture and appliances in the house even though I paid for everything, it doesn't matter, she was a housewife so after all she deserves her share in the divorce and I know her, She would have kept insisting and I was so feeble-minded at that point that I just wanted to stop seeing her forever, to be free of her.
I guess she came out of the closet herself because now she's dating an older woman and living with her as far as I know, I don't know if she lied to me and I don't want to know it, I don't want to know if that woman is another lover she had, I don't want to know how much they know each other, I don't care, I don't want to hurt myself with that. It's her life so at least now she's being herself. My sisters wanted to go and beat her up when they found out but I told them not to go or she could take advantage of that in the divorce. I found out about a lot of other things she did behind my back but I don't want to talk about it, just that I'm a big fool.
I hope she can finally be happy, since I know she wasn't happy with me and I wish happiness for myself too.
About her best friend, I really have no idea what happened to her, my sister knows that woman's wife and to this day they upload photos together with the baby. My sister couldn't talk about it to that woman's wife because, well, she doesn't have any proof and my wife always totally denied cheating on me with her.
I've been feeling good, I'm not going to lie and say it's easy, I think people on Internet have more empathy for my ex than for me when I talk about this haha but I think now I don't care anymore and I rather this je that way because I reject being a victim, I have my family and friends being my biggest support. I used to hide a lot of things from my psychologist because I knew that he would tell me that those things are wrong and a big part of me didn't wanted to hear the truth but a few months ago I was totally honest with many things that happened in my marriage, he scolded me a little but has helped me to see all the abusive things that I suffered, even if it was not something physical I think that mentally they damaged me a lot. I'm not going to play the victim because I refused myself many times to get out of there and keep trying like a fool. I don't see myself as a victim, I've been a victim before and I don't want to feel that way again
I've been going out with my friends to clubs, having married so young I lost part of my youth because I had to work, study and keep a house so I've been really enjoying partying. Less than a month ago I started dating a girl, it's nothing serious but we enjoy each other's company. It's weird to be with a woman who makes me feel ¿appreciated? And she doesn't look at me with boredom when I talk, I'm really quiet (Some people called me sexist for saying that being quiet is a good thing, but I never saw it as a flaw) but she's too talktive so It's always good to have a talk with her. My ex-wife and I had almost no intimacy, I have a trauma and it was hard for me to feel comfortable being intimate and now looking back, I thought my ex just wanted to make me feel comfortable but now I see that she used my trauma as an excuse to not touch me. Every time I tried to get comfortable, she would just say, "You know? Let's stop this or you'll have nightmares later.", I was very stupid too to believe all that, she just didn't wanted to touch me. But thanks to this girl I've started to enjoy myself and feel comfortable.
Not many things happened honestly and I doubt many people would mind about this but I tought it doesn't demage me to post an update, after giving the appliances and furniture to my ex, she just totally stopped talking to me. I've been focusing on myself, I feel like I'm too young to be divorced anymore but I feel good, I feel like this has been my biggest sign to start again and I want to move forward for myself and my family. I think I learned a lot about this as painful as it still is.

2024.05.20 06:18 Midi-ghost I shouldnt be alive

When I started drinking in high school it was casually with friends at parties. Some older people would obviously provide the alcohol. When I got old enough I started drinking out side of parties on the weekday and stuff. I was always curious about drinking and drugs…sadly. It’s weird because I’ve seen it destroy so many of my family members and some friends. But something in me just pushed me down that same path.
I would have blackouts. They would always scar the hell out of me and make me feel ashamed and out of control. I got sober for six months while living with my mother. Really went inside myself and became disciplined with my life, health, job, art and mind. Some of most clearest thoughts of my adult life I believe. Because, i struggle with many things in life that come from low self esteem. Drugs and alcohol after awhile of doing them, just intensify those emotions to the point where im very irrational, paranoid, depressed because of the seemingly loss of control.
I started drinking again around the end of last year. I’m very passionate about dance music. I mean like, the beginnings. Jungle, house, techno, electro, break beat. When I was a kid I would break dance at lunch with my friends. We were passionate about music culture in general. Punk rock, blues, ska, jazz. Anyway. So I went to this night club because i always wanted to go to a dance club that sort of aligns with the same dance music i enjoy. I had some drink and danced for a few hrs, it was a cool atmosphere. But i drank way to much and there i was drunk driving from a club. I made it home safe, but i woke up before work with a banging hang over.
My drinking and smoking weed started to get worst. I had stoped and now i was back on weed and alcohol everyday multiple times a day. It kept getting more and more normal for me have a beer and a shot in my car with a blunt rolled up driving around playing music. I did it everyday. Also another horrible habit i developed was drinking on the job, and i mean stealing alcohol from the hotel i work at and drinking it. Some days i would black out and break things. But some how i still have my job. I would curb my rims pretty bad from time to time which pissed me off so much lol, i like to keep my car looking nice.
Yesterday i got invited to a celebration at the Santa Cruz beach boardwalk. I started drinking early that day. Vodka and later a full bottle of wine before i left work. I was faded. On top of that i smoked like I don’t how many blunts and began driving with my new friend and his brother in the car. I don’t have a lot of people that I hang out with. So for this man to extent his friendship and trust like he did is such a blessing In my life. We magically make it there fine. Honestly I can’t remember leaving my job. I was that drunk already.
All I can remember is dropping my fiends off at some point. Then driving around trying to find parking. I park and I’m too drunk to get out the car to meet up with everyone. I just sit in the car smoke another blunt while the fire works go off. So for whatever reason I think it’s a good idea to try to drive again. It was all flashes and me feeling like I was going in and out of dreaming on the road. I left alone, it was just me in the car. At some point I remember thinking “oh whoa that was close, I’m glad I didn’t pop my tire” …but going back in the blurry dream state. This was a 30min drive up and down hills, turns. I have no clue how I’m Still alive today…my car is actually in better condition than it could be. Some how, there’s a dint in my hood and my left rims are totally scraped up. I swear I have no idea how I drove home like that. My car should be totaled or my life gone. I just…unbelievable…I’m to ashamed to tell anyone. I apologized to my friend and he graciously accepted.
I have a lot of problems. That’s the facts. At the moment I’m homeless because I got to drunk and blew my living situation with my parents. If I would have lost my car last night or whatever idk…i have no choice but to move on. But that’s just sigh, a lot more pain. I have another day to get this right and put the stuff down for good. Everyday I’ve sort of been scared driving and crying. I literally feel like I should have been gone. 🤍

2024.05.20 06:18 Sharp_Photograph_492 I Quit The Day Job For My Dream - Want a Free Website Designed?

Hey everyone!
So I've finally pulled the trigger—handed in my notice and I'm prepping to dive full-time into my own enterprise. It’s been a long time coming, I probably should've made the move a couple of years ago, but better late than never, right?
I’m shifting gears and taking charge of my professional life. As a web designer, I've always been more of a behind-the-scenes guy. Now, I aim to change that by stepping out and making meaningful connections.
My game plan? To create 25 high-quality websites over the upcoming quarter. I'm banking on this not only to establish myself but also to expand my network.
Let's be real, it's a big endeavor but anything's better than spending another few decades in my old job. So I'm casting a wide net here. While I'd love to collaborate with other entrepreneurs, I'm open to anyone needing web help.
If you’re in the market for a new website, a revamp, or anything in between, let’s connect and see how I can add value to your project. What do you say?
Thanks in advance!

2024.05.20 06:16 SweetLilFrapp Feel like a horrible mother, need to vent.

So it’s a lot, this a long post and I feel there’s no way to shorten it. But I really do need support. It’s just a lot of ugly feelings to carry.
I got into this relationship a few years back with a butcher who worked at a grocery store. At the time I wasn’t in college and was working there myself, just getting by. We started dating and got into a relationship. He’d spent ten years working at the store and makes like $28/hr now, on average working 5-6 days. He lives in a trailer owned by his grandma that houses him, his grandma, and his mom (who was forced to move back home after her partner passed away).
After being a fucking idiot, I got pregnant. The pregnancy was unplanned, but we were both happy. Him more than me, though, because I’d been planning to leave him for a while. The pregnancy was a total sideways accident. The guy (while not evil) was a lazy ass pig at home. His biggest priority is sitting on his ass playing video games and eating junk food all day when he’s not working. If he talks, it’s about work (complaints) and that’s about it. No ambition, no desire for more out of life, nothing. It took me 6 months after the birth of my son to leave him and go my own way. We never went to court and have unofficial split custody, but this is where it gets really fucked up.
I’m all alone. Grandparents are dead, mom left when I was 10, and dad is a sick-minded asshole. Any living family I have is estranged from me and won’t help me because of it. I have zero support, and pay for my life by myself. Idk what my son’s dad’s expenses are every month but he doesn’t pay for childcare and just leaves our son with his retired mom during the daytime. I rely on her too, and she gives me shit for not giving her any money. I tell them I can’t afford it, and they tell me that’s bullshit.
I’ve been focusing really hard on school and am trying to get into nursing school. I rent a bedroom right now from someone and thankfully they let my son come on the weekends. Obviously it’s not healthy to raise a child out of a bedroom, but it’s all I’ve got, and it’s also why he only comes on weekends. I just got my AA in psychology not long ago, am a newly-licensed Phlebotomist, and am looking into EMT certification. I’m basically trying to find a decent-paying job that’s not some dumbass job while I shoot for nursing school. Letting my education go isn’t an option. It’s the only thing my son and I will have as a chance at a better life. His dad isn’t a school person, and one day when his grandma isn’t around to babysit him anymore, I want to be able to be so stable that I can handle all that comes with having a child. Education will do it, but it takes time.
It’s rare I go out. If I’m out, I’m with my son. When he’s not with me school has all my focus. I clean houses during the daytime to pay the bills and have been looking into all kinds of programs. But putting this much time and effort into school means less time with my son. He’s too big for my little bedroom, and my options are extremely limited. I’d be damn near homeless if it wasn’t for where I live right now. Obviously I could find someone to rent to just me, but it isn’t just me.
My son’s dad’s family has given me nonstop shit about how I’m neglecting my parental responsibilities. I have him every weekend and provide everything needed for him (diapers, wipes, food, snacks, toys of my own, etc.) but they claim it’s not enough. I don’t buy diapers/wipes/food for THEM and I don’t pay my son’s mom to babysit so I’m a total shit mom.
But what I don’t get is that with absolutely no safety net, not only is school my saving grace, but isn’t it ME who needs the help? Isn’t it ME who deserves the help? I mean fuck, his dad splits the expenses with his mom and grandma and doesn’t live alone at all and has no savings currently. Working as much as he does making $28/hr you’d think he’d be a baller.
I feel bad spending so little time with my son but it’s not like I’m out getting drunk and doing drugs. I really am chugging along as hard as I can.

2024.05.20 06:15 massivesnaileater early psychosis or just mania?

i’ve been manic for almost 2 months now, where it usually only lasts a week or two. i think maybe being this manic is just making me feel crazy but im worried i might be on the verge of psychosis and i don’t know how to figure it out.
disclaimer that i did message my psych on his emergency number last night, but he just never replied so seeking other opinions.
basically the past 2 months i’ve just felt reality kind of slipping. i still trust people that i know and am close to, but whenever i pass by a stranger i always wonder if they’re out to get me somehow. the biggest thing ive noticed is insomnia. it takes me 3-5 hours to fall asleep (with sedatives), when normally i would be asleep within an hour max, 15 mins usually. i have big ideas like i always do when manic, but they seem bigger lately. like committing to big projects and over extending myself across the board. i don’t feel like myself. i don’t trust myself to make any decisions because i feel that everything is clouded. and i don’t trust any of my thoughts to be accurate without verifying them somehow.
i feel so out of touch with the real state of the world and i don’t know if im just really manic or actually reaching a breaking point here. if anyone has any advice on what’s wrong that would be great. but also if anyone knows what i should actually do about it that would be helpful too. i dont want to pester my psych but im worried.

2024.05.20 06:15 BlackIrish69 Horror movie tropes you hate

Tonight I was watching "Vampire Circus," an early 70's Hammer Horror flick. It's not the best IMO, but has some decent scenes and interesting stuff going on in it. (It also has a young Lalla Ward, much to my surprise.)
But it also has one of those scenes that just irritate the heck out of me from the era: During the dramatic face-off with the Big Bad vampire in the finale, the hero grabs two arrows from a crossbow to form a makeshift cross... from which the vampire shrinks away from in anguish.
I hate, hate, HATE when this scene comes up. Anybody can just grab two random straight objects (usually candlesticks, there's always candlesticks in a vampire's castle) and holds them together to make a cross... and the vampires all cringe! I want to scream at the screen "It's not a CRUCIFIX!" It doesn't bear the image of the Lord Jesus, or the inscription "In Re", or was blessed by the church, or even tied together to actually form a cross. It's just two objects held up to each other.
Imagine a vampire from a Hammer Horror movie walking into a first grade classroom and seeing a chalkboard after the math class on basic addition. He sees 2 + 2 = 4 written on the chalkboard and begins howling in agony at the sight of the plus sign. That's how ridiculous this seems to me.
So, what are the tropes specifically from horror movies that you just can't stand?

2024.05.20 06:11 kokjz players capable of playing lwf with a similar profile to Mbappe?

more specifically, I’m trying to find a goal poacher who can play lwf with max familiarity (after position boosting is ok), has strong offensive awareness, finishing, pace, and reasonable ball control and dribbling. And also, I don’t want them to be too big and tall, because that seems to mess with how they move with the ball (at least, that’s my experience from using blue lock Rashford, who has been my alternative up till now - I’m trying to find a better alternative because I’m a bit fed up with that, and also his lack of offensive awareness).
I don’t really want a winger with a prolific wingeroaming flank playstyle because I tend to prefer a goal poacher on the flank, due to their greater tendency to make good diagonal runs starting from the sideline that eventually bring them towards the centre of the pitch.
so far I’ve tried my old carryover Rummenigge, but due to the low number of levels on carryover legends I couldn’t give him enough points on ball control and dribbling, so although he made excellent runs he was a little bit clunky on the ball.
any suggestions? The newest goal poacher Villa looks decent for what I’m looking for, but knowing that people have had mixed experiences with previous versions of Villa, I’d like to see if I have other alternatives first.
(No, I will not play a narrow SS instead of a LWF, I don’t like abusing custom formations like that)
