I'm on PC using AMD Adrenaline, and I'm at my wits END.

· Sound Blaster Z
My fps exceeds 2200 when I launch the game. I have tried everything I can think of to resolve this issue, including the following:
  1. Enabling Radeon Chill and limiting the fps to 60. Does nothing and I found out just now that this setting is not designed to do this. WTF?
  2. Checked that my iPresetinterval in the ini file is correctly set at 1.
  3. Checked that my monitor refresh rate is correct at 60Hz
  4. Tried disabling every single @#$%& setting in Adrenaline.
Nothing has worked. When I get to the initial in-game menu to Load or Save or whatever, the option highlighter moves so fast that it's useless and I have to use my mouse. Weirdly, once I'm actually in the game and bring it up, it works normally. Still, lockpicking is also insanely fast. I just went into the cave where the alien is and I'm suddenly speedwalking.
My Performance Grade in Adrenaline is listed as Excellent with an Average FPS of 1701.1.
I had installed High FPS Physics Fix and Long Loading Times Fix today as those had been recommended to fix these issues. No joy. I unchecked them and started the game. Still no joy. I don't think that it's a mod issue because every other mod I've installed this entire year is merely a texture enhancer or replacer.
Could it perhaps be the latest AMD software update that was release on May 8 of this year? I seem to recall a software update from a few months or years back that had a similar effect, but I don't remember how it got resolved.
https://www.onecomputerguy.com/how-to-roll-back-amd-drivers/
This page contains instructions on how to roll back the driver. Should I try that?
I'm guessing that initiating a Factory Reset would be a waste of time?
I stumped and pretty furious. I guess once I resolve this I'll turn off Adrenaline updates permanently!
Help me, please.

2024.05.20 04:52 TrenchRaider_ Constant Computer Issues

I am nearly at my wits end here. I have a computer which I have built a year ago which has been a nightmare to deal with on a constant basis. Here are my woe and specs
Windows 11 Home x64
MS-7D25 Morbo
13th Gen intel core i9-13900k
RTX 4090
2x 32gb dominator corsair ram
Samsung SSD 98 2tb NVMe
I have been having constant issues with this PC and every time i do seemingly makes it worse. There are constant BSODs and random program crashes along with many display errors and other issues.
Constant BSODs:
Critical Process Died
irql_not_less_or_equal
Kmode_exception_not_handled
Among numerous other errors which i cannot remember
Reading the minidumps the driver was nsktrol something most of the time which tells me fuck all
Apperent CPU overheat or some mannor as the CPU seems to be at a constant 80 or higher.
Display issues include the desktop screensaver randomly turning completely black, or black when i click and drag over it and any shortcuts on the desktop
For whatever reason the start/boot screen of my pc flickers and the keyboard/mouse lights flicker with it.
Random program crashes. For some examples some games in particular crash extremely often while others crash not at all. Discord seems to crash the most however for some reason. Along with any art program such as CSP or photoshop
Seeing all these problems i have tried many tests and solutions to absolutely no effect.
I changed my GPU for a new one
Ran many sfc and DISM scans
Ran memtests, no errors apperently detected
Tried installing new graphics drivers
Updated BIOS to latest
Ran a chkdisk
Fuck i even formatted my computer and tried a fresh install via boot usb but i kept having issues with the install screen constantly going back to the beginning. Then even after i "fixed" the issue by skipping naming my pc (for whatever reason) the fresh install has fucked over my PC even more. Exasperating the issues i was having before and now my pc randomly freezes up for a few seconds. EVEN IN BIOS.
I am nearly at my limit of just chucking this god damn piece of junk out the window. What the fuck am i missing!?!?!?

2024.05.20 04:40 NoPhilosopher5781 Constant BSOD on high end system

System Specs: Asus Rog Maximus Hero BIOS 2202 13900KS Gskill 16x2 7200MHZ TUF 4090 seasonic vertex gx1200 980 PRO 2tb p41 plus 2tb SN750 500gb
i built this pc around april of last year, and it ran very smooth. Last month, i've been encountering lots of BSODS and it ultimately led me to reset the PC. Most of the BSODS were:
system service exception1 system thread exception not handled2 bad pool caller3 page fault in nonpaged area4 driver overran stack buffer5
Even after I reset my PC, i was STILL getting these BSODS, so it let me to believe it is a hardware related issue. I used memtest86, intels diagnostic tool, and samsung magician, but all tests passed with no errors.
I've managed to successfully reinstall windows 11 but it still feels like the problem is there. I've gotten a few BSODS1 but after like 2-3 i've gotten to windows with no error. I've also been getting the status access violation error on chrome. I've been so stressed about this and my last resort is to just bring it into a shop to have an opinion on whats going on.
Solutions I tried: Updated bios and also rolled back a few bios updates Clearing CMOS Turning off XMP Disabling Fast Boot and secure boot, and enabling CSM Reseating CPU (helped a little bit) Reseating GPU Reseating NVME Reseating RAM. Tried one stick and both sticks. sfc /scannow CHKDSK
Looking for some extra help and input. Thank you to anyone for trying to help.

2024.05.20 04:31 skerinks Speaker upgrade on 2024 XSE Tech Pkg w/JBL

I’m not happy with this JBL system, so decided to upgrade. I figured I’d start with the speakers, see how it sounds, then go from there with an amp & DSP if wanted. I haven’t kept up with car audio brands for the last decade or longer, as all my previous ‘premium’ systems were satisfactory to me. So instead of spending my time researching, I just hit the cheat button and called Crutchfield. They recommended:
Of course the stock JBL door speakers are riveted in, so I had to drill those out. Not a big deal for those with a normal complement of tools.
Rears: these were easy, but did require a bit of thinking, it wasn’t simply a drop-in replacement. Crutchfield did send the speaker brackets for the door (and they bolted onto the doohole just fine), but the RFord 6¾ speakers didn’t line up with any of the pre-drilled holes in the speaker bracket. So I had to lay the speaker on the bracket, make some marks on the bracket that align with the speaker holes and drill them out. There were plenty of screws included, so this worked just fine. Again, not a huge deal, but it wasn’t a drop-in replacement like I expected. So connect the speaker to the factory wiring with the harness Crutchfield included, screw the speakers in, and done. Those took about 1.5 hours total to do both doors. And 30mins of that was making completely sure I wasn’t just being dumb and not aligning the brackets properly LoL.
Front: This took waaaayyyy longer than I expected, due to a couple snags. So first off, the JBL is a 3-way speaker system up front (door woofer, dash mid, and A-pillar tweeter). And the RFord speakers Crutchfield recommended is a 2-way system (door wooofer, and tweeter somewhere else). This will become important later. But anyway, simply drill out the rivets for the door speakers. No big deal. Remove the mids in the dash; 2 bolts, no big deal, socket fits (barely). Remove the A-pillar trim piece, sort of a big deal if you don’t know how to do it (watch a youtube about it - it only has two clips holding it on; pull it out with force to get it loose where the entire trim piece is hanging, then use needle-nose pliers to compress two tabs on each clip to free it from it’s captive frame hole. Not easy, and is a PITA, but doable with a bit of patience). I disconnected this factory JBL tweeter. I ended up placing the RFord tweeter where the dash mid was. Crutchfield supplied two adapter plates to do this. Where the adapter plate goes is abundantly obvious, but I’m embarrassed to say it took me almost two hours to figure out how to mount the tweeter to the adapter plate. If you flush-mount the tweeter to the adapter plate, it will sit too high for the dash trim piece to fit back on. So what I had to do was take a 2” hole-saw and cut a hole in the adapter plate, then mount the tweeter so the bulk of the tweeter sits below the adapter plate, in the dash hole. There is a compression ring in the RFord kit that makes this possible. But between figuring that out, and not wanting to cut the adapter plate (because I didn’t want to wait until next weekend for more parts if I got it wrong), it took me way longer to do this solution that it should have. The way the RFord 2-way system works is the tweeter comes with 6ft of speaker wire attached, and this connects to the door woofer. The HPF is inside the either the woofer or tweeter. So the signal goes to the door, and the highs get passed on to the tweeter from the door. Not a big deal, but this means you have to fish that tweeter cable down to the door. Getting the tweeter wire down the dash and to the boot that connects the body to the door is easy. But getting it fished from the body thru the boot and into the door is… an exercise in patience. One door I got it fished thru in about 15mins. The other door… about 2hrs. But ok, tweeter is now mounted in the dash space where the JBL mid was. And the wire is fished thru the doors. So I connect the tweeters to the woofers, and connect the factory harness to the woofers using the supplied adapter harness from Crutchfield.
Moment of truth….. Turn it on, and I only have sound from the rear doors and the JBL subwoofer in the back. No sound from the fronts. At this point it’s been a long day and I don’t want to do anymore, so let it for the next day. Overnight, thinking about it, I suspect the car brains are not happy going from a 3way system to a 2way system. Maybe something with the differing resistance?? Anyway, today I called Crutchfield for support, and they say the factory JBL tweeter either has to be connected, or the pins have to be jumpered. It seems the JBL system sends the audio signal to the tweeter first, then passes it to the doors. So you either have to connect the JBL tweeter, or splice pins 1&2 and 3&4 of the tweeter factory connector. And of course Crutchfield has a jumper connector that plugs into the JBL tweeter harness (effectively splicing those pins). But I wanted to get this done today, not wait a few days for that connector to get here. So I opted to connect the JBL tweeter in the A-pillars back up.
Moment of truth #2. Now I have sound from the front RFords, the rear RFords, and the JBL sub.. And it sounds much improved over the JBL system. I get adequate bass, and the highs are not near as harsh as the JBLs (even with the JBLs tweeters connected, which I figured is driving the harshness 🤷🏼‍♂️). And when I turn it up, the bass doesn’t ‘pull back’ like it did with the JBL system. There is one thing - the soundstage has definitely moved backwards. The stage is now decidedly behind the driver, instead of in front of the driver. I can move it forward using the native fader controls, but doing so feels as if the entire system amp/power is diminished. I wonder if having the factory JBL tweeters connected is impacting this somehow? Maybe I’ll get that plug from Crutchfield, remove the JBL tweeter from the equation and see how that goes.
Verdict - as of today, I’m happy with this. I’ll let it break in for a couple weeks then reassess. But as of today, I don’t see a need for an amp or DSP.

2024.05.20 04:26 ravi_k-98 Is Intel UHD 620 faster than MX130 for Topaz? And should I focus more on iGPU in my next laptop?

I have a 2019 HP Pavillion x360 14" - 8th gen i5, 16GB ram, 2GB MX130
I always thought MX130 would be much faster than integrated graphic card on my laptop. Therefore I purely used MX130 for all TOPAZ applications (mainly Photo AI, Sharpen AI, Gigapixel AI, Denoise AI) until recently, when these application started throwing out driver errors - this usually used to get resolved with restart of the application. But I tried changing the preferred graphics card and to my surprise previews were updating nearly twice as fast with Intel UHD 620 and also the photos were rendering twice as fast.
This is making me wonder if iGPU only (780M or 8core Intel arc) would be an ideal choice as my next laptop. I'm can see the new laptops are coming with 6GB of either 3050 or 4050.
I sometimes also do a bit of video editing. Nothing heavy, just color grading with multiple nodes and sometimes Fusion in Davinci Resolve.
Is spending the extra worth it for 3050 or 4050?
Also, I know I should go for 32GB ram if it's only iGPU. But is 16GB okay with 6GB 3050/4050? Because there's only those options in India.
I know higher the ram, the better, for 780M. Does the same apply to 8 core Intel arc, or does it have a preset cap on how much memory is allocated to it?
Thanks!

2024.05.20 04:09 MrSparkle03 Acer Predator Laptops and USB-C/Thunderbolt to Display Cable issues.

Hello Everyone,
Looks like multiple iterations of the Acer Predator have issues with USB-C/Thunderbolt to DisplayPort actually working.
My model (PT314-52s) does have the appropriate icon for Thunderbolt on the port AND the manual does state that it supports it. Acer Support for this model doesn't show any specific intel Thunderbolt drivers/controllers. I don't see anything in Device Manager related to Thunderbolt and my Nvidia Control Panel does not show anything when I connect the cable. Windows 11 does show what "Billboard" USB device, as expected, for when the cable is plugged in. I've used the Intel utility to automatically detect but it does not see it either.
Any suggestions for getting this to work? I was thinking a specific version of the Intel NUC drivers might do the trick. Thanks!
Cable Model: Cable Matters USB-C to Displayport 1.4 (Supports Thunderbolt) 8K at 60hz etc...

2024.05.20 03:50 DrivingMyLifeAway1 Inaudible Navigation

I use the audio navigation in the Lyft driver app (along with the Lyft map). A few months ago I started having an intermittent problem where the audio would randomly cut out. I would notice it when navigating and the audio navigation wasn’t working and I wasn’t sure what was causing it. But I eventually tied it to my either making an in-app phone call (to the pax) or sometimes if I toggled to another random app on my iPhone 11.
It less frequently will cut out without my doing anything that I’m aware of. Also, I recently became aware that there may be navigation audio that is so quiet that it is almost inaudible but is there nonetheless.
To reset the audio back to normal I have to go into Settings and make any adjustment (up or down) to my ringer audio and that fixes it until the next time. I keep up with the latest app and iPhone updates. The sound does not go out on any of my other apps or features. The other relevant information is that whenever the problem happens, Siri also stops working and will not activate (no matter how often I say “hey Siri”).
Has anyone else experienced this and if so did you find a permanent solution?

2024.05.20 03:39 atariarchive Random bouts of white noise in my video projects

Hi all! I produce a series of miniature documentaries looking at the histories of various old video games for the Atari 2600, and have been using Vegas Pro 15 to do this for quite some time. As of the past several months, I've noticed an issue where random bouts of loud white noise would pop up in my video clips when trimming them or after placing them on the timeline. For a while I thought I just had an issue in my recording setup, but I've determined that it's probably not the case; they never show up in the actual waveform or even in the original video file.
This has kind of come to a head in a video I finished up last week. After completing it and rendering it, I found that there was a 3 second bout of painful white noise. I reopened the file, tried cutting around that particular portion, but all that did was shuffle the white noise to other parts of the video. Even muting that particular audio segment still caused a muted degree of white noise to come through. I finally managed to edit around it, but the process took about 40 minutes of trial and error.
I have googled this issue, and it sounds like other people have had this same problem come up, but they indicate the problem for them was an ASIO Magix Driver, but I couldn't find anything of the sort on my Windows 10 machine (no ASIO folder in the regedit, nothing "Magix" and no sign of it under the Vegas folders) Does anyone have any ideas on what else I should look into? I'd hate to have to relearn a whole new editing software just when I really got into a good groove with my workflow using Vegas. Graphics card in the system is a GeForce GTX 950; my videos are being done in 720p if that is a factor. Both windows and Vegas are legit copies.

2024.05.20 03:33 marsjdonline Help with purchasing correct Thunderbolt hardware

Hi all,
I posted this question in both and but after a week have not received any replies, so I'm trying here.
TL;DR Which Thunderbolt-capable motherboard to buy when using multiple displays: One that uses the integrated graphics of the CPU for Thunderbolt display, or one that requires a loop cable from the GPU?
I'm looking for help with a new PC build that I'm doing for work. I'll be building about 4 of these, so really need to get it right the first time as the cost of making a mistake will be significant otherwise.
I am about to build an entirely new system. It's a higher-end system that will be capable of decent graphics manipulation, multiple displays, and quick processing. It'll be similarly spec'd to this pre-built from Scorptec. Budget of up to $3.5k AUD per computer.
Each PC will go into a room where it will need to share one monitor and 4x USB devices with another computer. In addition, the PC will have another 3x monitors plus other USB, LAN, and audio devices connected.
I initially attempted to do this with the existing devices in there by purchasing an Aten US3311 USB-C KVM Switch, which allows for up to 4x USB-A devices plus a DP monitor to be shared between two PCs, each PC connecting via a single USB-C cable (with alt mode). However, I discovered that the PC I had does not have any USB-C connectivity. I then purchased a USB-C PCIe add-in card (Sunix UPD2018) which is supposed to grant USB-C connectivity with DisplayPort alt-mode monitor connection via a DP-in port. Unfortunately, I was unable to get it working stably even with this add-in card.
Building a new PC gives me the opportunity to handpick the components in it to ensure 100% compatibility to my use case. I am exploring Thunderbolt as the answer to my problem, but the more I look into it the more I am confused by it.
One of the primary points of confusion for me is the interaction between Thunderbolt display output and the use of a dedicated GPU, especially as it seems some Thunderbolt ports require a DP-in for it to carry a display signal (such as this ASUS ProArt Z790-CREATOR WIFI Motherboard), while others use the integrated graphics capabilities of the CPU (such as this ASRock Z790 Taichi Lite Motherboard). My previous lack of success with the Sunix PCIe card, which used DP-in to provide display over USB-C, makes me reluctant to go with a solution that requires DP-in for Thunderbolt. However, I recognise that this previous experience is probably isolated to the specific hardware I was using. If I were instead to go for a motherboard that utilises the CPU's graphics processing, such as the ASRock Taichi linked above, how does that interact with running other monitors from a dedicated GPU?
I suppose my question can be summarised in this way: What motherboard should I buy that will have the ability to connect to a shared DP monitor and 4x shared USB devices through the Aten US3311 KVM via a single USB-C cable, while also having the ability to use 3x other monitors through a dedicated GPU and other USB, LAN, and audio devices?
I'm sorry if this is confusing. I'll be more than happy to answer any questions in the comments with whatever additional information you need. I am employed in IT, so am happy to engage in technical conversation if needed. Thanks in advance for any help provided.

2024.05.20 03:08 AntiAntii_ HyperX Cloud Alpha (Wireless) and Cloud III (Wireless) Audio is low!

To preface this post I have owned a pair of HyperX Cloud II's for two years now and my only complaint is the cord at this point. The audio is amazing, I feel like I could go deaf but it's so perfect for FPS games and there is not much to complain about from when I first picked them up till now. I just recently had some time to look for a new pair and ended up getting the HyperX Cloud III Wireless they just don't hit even 20% of the loudness of the Cloud IIs so I was upset and then picked up the HyperX Cloud Alpha Wireless and they are legitimately the same sound maybe 25% now... I don't understand where I'm going wrong at this point. I thought it was my end, I uninstalled drivers, updated firmware, and looked through subreddits but nothing is making sense. My airpod pros sound louder than both of them combined.

2024.05.20 02:29 Choiryan PC crashes on specific games in a very strange way.

Recently, I have been having an issue where certain games will crash my PC in a strange way. I will not get a blue screen of death nor a black screen of death. During games, my monitor would suddenly freeze for half a second before blacking out, I can still hear the game and talk with my friends in discord for a couple of seconds before the audio also bugs out. While this happens, my fans go to maximum speed and stay there until I am forced to turn off the PC. What is worse is that these games should be playable on my computer specs. Yesterday, the issue got a lot worse for no reason. After I crashed, I would boot my PC and the logo of my motherboard would show up, but when the windows password page should pop up, the screen would black out with a couple of blue pixels appearing. I could enter bios, but Windows login page would not appear for 10 minutes. This strange one off issue no longer appeared today, but the crashes itself still persist. The crashes have not occured 1 month ago, and the issue began around the time I downloaded helldivers (which crashes the PC the most), but other games like remnant 2 also crash my pc. I have so far checked for dead spots on my SSD, cleared out the dust in my pc, used sfc /scannow, and used the intel processor diagnostic tool, which all came out empty. While I do have concerns about thermal issues (raptor lake on a 240mm aio), I have never had any issues in the past. I am at my last straw and planning on wiping my PC, but ideally I do not do that.
Specs for PC:
Intel i7-13700k
RTX 3070
32 gigs of ddr 5 ram
Samsung SSD 980 PRO 1TB
ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II 240 mm AIO
850 W Corsair power supply.

2024.05.20 02:26 bobdylan1984 Stuck on Loading Loot 67-75%

Has anyone else had the issue of the game just getting stuck at Loading Loot for any map between 67-75% - it just sticks at it for 30+ minutes - then says your character is either MIA or that the connection has timedout.
I can load into the practice arena, but the above happens for both Scavs and my main.
I've updated my BIOS as I read there was an issue in the past there. I've got all my graphic settings turned down to low, and set the MIP to high.
Any other ideas as to what I can do? Here's what I'm running:

2024.05.20 02:21 spoontang2 What causes my audio to become distorted like this?

What causes my audio to become distorted like this?
This inconsistent audio distortion has been occurring for awhile now. It only seems to occur when audio is played from one of the GPU’s video ports. It also does not occur everyday. Multitasking seems to make it worse.
I have tried: A different CPU, motherboard, PSU, displayport cables, speakers, SSD, fresh windows install, reinstalling drivers
My system: Ryzen 7 5800x3d, aorus b550i, tuf 3080 ti, corsair vengeance sl pro 32gb 3600mhz, 980 pro 2tb

2024.05.20 02:07 ahmadka Intel Wi-fi 7 BE200 Card keeps disconnecting from Wi-fi

Hi guys. I setup a new desktop couple months back with an ASRock Z790 Nova motherboard, which has an Intel Wi-Fi 7 BE200 card on it for Wi-Fi.
Problem I have is every now and then the Wi-Fi card stops detecting any Wi-Fi SSIDs, and so disconnects from the internet. I then have to go into Windows Control Panel and disable/enable the adapter, and then it's able to recognize SSIDs again. This happens randomly every 6-30 hours, and it's very annoying.
Is this perhaps a hardware issue, or perhaps a driver issue of some sort ? Any ideas ?

2024.05.20 01:49 Smiling_Banana Just installed Cakewalk, no sound

I have to use WASPI shared driver or else there is no audio output devices listed if I select AISO
i select my Headphones Realtek audio which my computer speakers are plugged into.
i went into Windows audio mixer and selected Headphone output for Cakewalk app.
I turn the virtual controller keyboard and press keys. No sounds.
I have read numerous online posts and watched set up videos and can't find a solution.
I am a complete beginner so simple instructions please.
