Just wondering about appropriate etiquette about when I’m asked to roll over to my back. Today I was getting a back massage and was asked to roll over so the rmt could work on my neck. She held the sheets up so I could roll, but held them from the top by my head, not the side as it’s been done in previous massages. I think she got a look at my privates during the turn over. Totally ok with me for the peak, but just wondering if she did it on purpose or not. When I do lie on my back with the sheets over me, I do have a noticeable bulge at times. Not talking a huge bulge, but it’s there. Just wondering if it’s something that happens from time to time.

I’m looking for recommendations for a GOOD RMT in this city who also does direct billing to NIHB (Non-insured Health Benefits) for their Indigenous clients. Preferably someone who is attuned with the human body and how it works, uses multiple modes of therapy to help their clients. I used to see a guy in BC who would do a full on consult with me, check where my body was not in balance and alignment, for example, he stood me straight and measured my hips and shoulders etc, he used all sorts of padding on this table to get the best angles… his approaches included Swedish techniques, neuro-muscular therapy, and arthrokinetic techniques, as well as some chiropractic.
This was 10 years ago and I have never found anybody who knew what they were doing as well as him in all those years. Every RMT I’ve seen seems young and new in the trade, and they basically just rub hard over my knots and athough it does provide some relief, it’s quite temporary.
ETA: First and foremost, looking for a skilled RMT who has experience in multiple therapeutic techniques in the Edmonton area. Bonus if you know that they direct bill to NIHB. I’ll still appreciate and look into all recommendations. Thanks :)

Both my spouse and I now have extended health plans - different companies and different insurers. I understand the basics of how CoB works but have a specific question about how it works if one of the provider requires a doctors referral/letter on file for Massage Therapy? I.e: both plans cover $500 per practitioner. Plan B (spouse) requires a letter for RMT. Do we both have to get letters going forward, if we want to max out RMT coverage? What if I (no letter requirement) don't care to max it out, but want go use only $500 while my spouse doesn't use any?

I'm venturing out on my own private practice. I currently have a portable table, the Santana Master Massage table, that I use for outcalls. It has a little bit of a wobble to it and a squeak (I've only been using it for a year) so unideal to use in my studio space.
I'd like a table that is "portable" for convenience however, I do not plan to move it anywhere. Just to take it down infrequently so I can hold group meditations in my space. Sturdy and reliable is what I'm looking for.
Please let me know which table you use, how long you've had it, if any problems have flared up

I'm 36 weeks pregnant with my second right now and I've had multiple people including my doulas ask if I'm planning on getting any accupuncture before birth. I'm not currently, because it's just not something I've turned to for other ailments in my life so it never occurred or appealed to me. I'm against chiro, but I see the benefits of massage with an RMT. I'm not sure where acupuncture fits on that spectrum for me. It doesn't seem harmful, but does it do anything other than make you feel relaxed? Is there any actual evidence that it can help with going into labour on time and or having a smoother labour? It seems to me like it's impossible to know whether or not labour would've gone the way it did either way, but people seem to swear by it.
Hit me with your acupuncture research as it pertains to labour and delivery! Should I bother, or is taking some time to breathe and relax just as good?

RMT in training here. I'm just over a month into the 1st year of my course. They are hammering home the importance of ethics, professionalism and such as well as proper draping. Which is all very good of course. But I went for a theraputic massage myself again recently and noticed a few things. One that struck me was when it came time to flip over from supine to prone, my therapist just held the sheet up to create a temporary "wall" between us so I could flip over. Very different from how they're teaching us to flip clients in the college. Also when in supine position she had my chest exposed. I needed work done on my left pec for a shoulder injury. In the college they tell us to cover the brest area regardless if the client is male/female. I didn't care myself (I'm male so nothing to be exposed there) but I found that interesting. I'm not complaining at all, she did a great job. Just interested to learn what else is different in the real world vs. what you get taught in massage therapy schools.
