Herbal lisinopril

Antibiotic toxicity

2024.02.03 00:20 Missy90210 Antibiotic toxicity

I think I have antibiotic toxicity from taking 2 rounds of flagyl. I have tenderness on my forehead, around my eyes. Feelings of unbalance. I’ve read these are side effects. It’s been 3 days since I finished my course and I still have these symptoms. Is there anything I can take to help restore my health and nerves? I’m currently taking my normal women’s one a day, one pill for bone health, one probiotic for vagina health. I take Lisinopril for high blood pressure. I’m also taking a pill with magnesium, calcium and zinc and one for vitamin c. Also a pill called immuno health (herbal) to prevent cold/flu.

2023.09.09 21:01 RandomRedditUser5959 Suddenly stuck in bed for going on 3 months and looking for advise

Dysautonomia, I am posting in hopes that anyone might have any advice or things to try. I’m a male in my early 40s and around 3 months ago I suddenly developed constant debilitating symptoms. Since then I've been stuck in bed almost all the time besides getting up to use the restroom or being driven to appointments. Before I was active and regularly hiking. I’m running out of ideas and things to pursue. Everything seems to move slowly with getting referrals and setting up new appointments. Most of my symptoms seem to be positional. I’m usually feeling better lying down but when I sit or stand up, discomfort and pain flare up quickly. Sometimes I’m able to stand comfortably for more than 10 minutes without symptoms flaring up, other times I can barely sit up before symptoms flare up. I haven't been able to pinpoint a precise trigger or pattern yet. When my symptoms first started I felt like I was having a stroke or heart attack with intense fatigue, chest and left arm pain. Since then my symptoms fortunately don't seem to be quite as intense but are still debilitating enough to be stuck in bed laying down.
Current Main Symptoms
Current Prescribed Medications: Propranolol 10 MG twice daily for blood pressure and tachycardia. A cardiologist thought the propranolol would be best for positional blood pressure increases as my blood pressure is around 120/80 while lying down but jumps up when sitting up. After visiting primary care, they added Lisinopril 10 MG once day for additional blood pressure lowering but still wanted me to take propranolol for reduceing heart rate.
Supplements Tried: Vitamins D, C, B1, B12, K. Zinc, Magnesium, Turmeric Curcumin, L-Citrulline (nitric oxide), Traditional Chinese Medicine herbal blend from Acupuncturist and Melatonin for sleep.
Medical Visits so far: I’ve been to the ER 6 times. Initially I didn’t have a primary care provider and early symptoms were severe and felt similar to descriptions of heart attack or stroke. Fortunately symptoms haven’t felt severe enough to need to go back to the ER for over a month. Since then I’ve had 2 visits to Primary Care with a 3rd visit scheduled. 3 visits to a Cardiologist who said my heart seemed fine after their tests. 1 visit to a Neurologist who couldn’t see anything wrong and referred me to a couple specialists for followup. The specialists are booked and won’t be able to see me anytime soon. 1 visit to a Spinal Surgeon who said my spine looked fairly normal for my age. 3 visits to Acupuncture and Licensed Massage Therapy. 2 visits to Physical Therapy.
Tests completed
Any suggestions are welcome,
Thanks!

2023.05.25 06:49 zharris0716 3rd seizure in 30 years.

Hi. I'm asking questions here before I go see my doctor this Friday in hopes of understanding what happened to me.
A week ago I had a very bad seizure early morning. I had woken my wife up, she found me eyes wide open, body rigid, foaming at the mouth and gargle-screaming. This lasted about a minute she said. I bit a chunk of my tongue off and my left shoulder hurts very bad when I try to lift it in front of me. I don't remember anything.
The day before this happened I barely remember, I remember that mornings coffee and news scrolling with an intense dreamlike state of dejavu almost out of body experience that lasted a few minutes, the next thing I remember I was at the office searching for my wallet which I had on me the whole time. I felt veeerrrryyyy strange and it freaked me out so bad that I decided to go home early. I don't remember the rest of the day. The next morning I had woken late my wife telling me I had a seizure.
My only history with seizures is when I was 14 I was struck by a car, and was having seizures in the hospital. I had another one 6 years after that early morning at I don't remember. I'm 44 now and this one was the thrid seizure I have had that I am aware of.
Anyways, I'm sorry writing all this, but I am genuinely freaked out by all this. I haven't "felt" right since, it's very difficult for me to concentrate or focus on anything, and my shoulder still hurts very bad. I just feel totally off. It's been a week and I'm wondering if there is any permanent changes to my brain because of this. I go see my doctor Friday, and he's scheduled me for a MRI and to see a neurologist.
I'm only taking Lisinopril for my blood pressure. I take some herbal supplements to help sleep, butbhave been taking these for 2 years now and no problems. I'm certain it's not anything I've been taking.
I guess my question is if a really bad seizure can permanently alter ones brain. I seriously don't feel the same as before. I'm kinda scared, I won't know everything until I've seen my doctors but I keep thinking about the day before I had this seizure and how weird I felt all day and how I can't remember most of the day. Do I have any permanent brain damage or anything?
Alright, well thank you for reading. This is all kind of scary for me, and I dont really know who or what to ask.

2023.05.10 01:17 PsychologicalNote612 10 day headache

39 female, UK. Non smoker, don't drink. I take allopurinol, betahistine and lisinopril. Well tolerated and taken for years. I often have severe sinus type pain which is currently being investigated.
For ten days now, I've had a headache. It doesn't respond to painkillers, I've tried paracetamol, aspirin, ibuprofen and co codamol. The codeine is the only thing that eases it, but the relief lasts no more than an hour. I've left long gaps between pain relief so I'm sure it's not a medication headache.
I've also tried Doxylamine succinate, buclizine, pseudoephedrine, phenylephrine, mitrazipine, loratadine, cetirizine and chlorphenamine. None of these have helped.
Nasal sprays and sinus wash has not helped. Ice packs have not helped. Sleep, fresh air, sea air and hydration have not helped. Essential oils, herbal anxiety tablets, massage and inversion have not helped.
I don't know what else to try. The pain is much worse as the day wears on and it's throbbing and sort of tight. It's driving me crazy. I guess it is coming from my sinuses but I don't know.
Please can anyone suggest anything that might give me some relief? I would love some time off work, but I had eight days with Covid in October so I'll get disciplined and a warning if I'm off again.

2022.09.07 18:33 Coylethird Anyone with hypertension taking a diuretic notice any effects on bg levels; otc or prescription?

I just read several reports that thiazide diuretics can negatively affect bg levels, has anyone noticed that? I stopped the hctz in my lisinopril due to lowered potassium levels; but have been using an herbal otc diuretic as I feel it helps a bit to reduce water retention, flush out excess sodium--which I really try to limit but it's so prevalent.

2021.12.08 16:53 wjholter SIBO/SIFO Success Story, maybe this will help someone???

Hi all. I noticed a few posts where people were either wondering if they'll get back to normal ever again or if their healing will be permanent. I'm someone who got back to normal but its too early to tell on the long term.
My story is long but i developed GI issues shortly after college and dealt with them for roughly 15 years thinking i just had a "weak stomach" and had many food sensitivities. I would have lower abdominal pain/discomfort but the major issue was diarrhea. It seemed like no more than 4 weeks could go by between episodes. It was sudden/urgent/explosive and the worst part was it was unpredictable. But even when i wasn't having diarrhea, my BM's always felt incomplete and i felt like i had to wipe excessively. TMI i know...
I finally had enough and started to try and do something about it other than just avoid certain foods. I had been on Lisinopril for blood pressure basically the same amount of time as the GI issues so my first thought was to stop taking it and see what happens. GI issues were a possible side effect but a very rare one. Stopping the med didn't really change much but i did feel somewhat better for a few months. Well then i had an injury which required 15 staples and a course of antibiotics. I'm not sure what i took but i was fully expecting bad diarrhea due to the antibiotics and to my surprise, all of my issues went away. I actually felt better and had normal BM's. This lasted for roughly a month and then i went back to normal and actually got worse. I started having bad bouts of gastritis (never had that before). During this time my primary doctor and I discussed by issues and she referred me to a GI. I had 2 appointments with him and his conclusion was that while i didn't test positive for celiac, i was probably sensitive to gluten and therefore i should stop that and everything would be fine. I discovered what SIBO was after researching why antibiotics made me feel better and asked him about that but he said i was just a classic case of IBS. He was totally useless and this did not solve any of my problems nor did he want to put much effort into helping me.
So at this point i had 3 bouts of gastritis and was desperate. My bouts were about 45-60mins long of basically agony. I had been reading about SIBO since i had the positive results with the antibiotics and even discussed this with the GI. He was like "if you want some antibiotics i'll prescribe them to you, but its probably just a temporary fix." I joined this subreddit and followed along with many people's comments and questions. I finally setup to see a Naturopath in my area (Connecticut). To me, he might as well walk on water because he has helped me tremendously.
So he had me complete a comprehensive stool test, some blood work and a hair test. The last two really weren't related to the GI stuff but the stool test was. I asked about breath test and he felt that it wasn't the best option because it would tell you that you may or may not have sibo and a certain type, but it wouldn't say exactly what was going on in your small intestine. So my results were that i had zero lactobacillus in my gut (mostly all of my "good bacteria" was low too), i had some other bacteria with wasn't harmful but also wasn't helpful but the major finding was i had a yeast overgrowth in my SI. The test didn't really say how much other than there were "many" and "many" was the highest amount they could state on the test.
The GI directed me to take a few herbal anti-biotics, herbal anti-fungals, gut healing herbs, digestive enzymes and probiotics. I did this for about 2 months. I didn't experiences die off but i did have a few bouts of diarrhea during this period, early on and in the middle. After this time i did another stool test. This second test confirmed the yeast had been removed and the lactobacillus has started to colonize. The iffy-bacterial was still there but at low levels still. Since then, i have stopped the herbs except the digestive enzymes and probiotics. I've changed to a different probiotic which is coated, the hope being that it will help colonize faster. According to my NP, The more good bacteria colonizes, the less likely the yeast will return and the less likely the other bacterial gets a larger portion of SI.
So if you're still reading, here's the good part. I feel great! I haven't been this regular in 15 years. During the first 14 years of my struggles, i just dealt with the problems. However when i developed the gastritis, metal struggles came along with that. Anxiety of when the next bout would be, frustration over what was causing it, hopelessness thinking this was going to be my life from now on. I realize now that our guts are very, very complex and fixing them isn't as easy as just taking one round of antibiotics. Bad things need to be removed but good things need to be built up, and that doesn't happen quickly. The best part of feeling better is the anxiety, frustration and hopelessness are gone.
According to my NP, my case was actually more SIFO than SIBO, so I hope its ok posting this here. But i wanted to because some may be dealing with SIFO and not realize it, like me. I'm happy to answer any questions or provide the names of the things i took. Just let me know

2021.10.29 23:38 agnostic-infp-neet Is stevia in excess bad for the renal system?

I'm always worried about getting kidney problems over time and are on an ace inhibitor. I'm 32, 198 lbs or so, six feet, 10gm lisinopril. Also, the stevia I use in is in one of three things and to the point of using 10 servings of it per day lately: seltzer water with crystallized lemon, instant (is this cancerous?) decaff coffee with vanilla, herbal tea with chamomile and passionflower and such.... or Valerian (I suffer from non-24), hops (mood?), catnip (does this lower cravings?), etc, even hawthorn (might lower blood pressure) is listed on one herbal tea.
Is this dangerous?
Also I am prescribed hydroxyzine (50mg) and a benzo (0.5mg) clonazapam. It's half life is 19-60 hours, that benzo, though only effects you for 12 as it's other half life I guess, that sounds stressful to the kidneys. Also I use antiperspirant deodorant though I doubt it's relevant.
I'm not told there's anything wrong with my blood work by the way and had a urinalyses a couple of years ago just to be diligent.
Also I'm male and fairly Caucasian I suppose.
tl;dr: I read it implied that 'some' studies say stevia can be bad on the renal system and I overuse it when I have the odd drinks of mine. Five drops is a serving but I use like 30 and might have 3 cups that day. That's actually closer to 20 servings, not ten, so it makes me nervous enough to possibly just stick to almond milk or something as a 'beverage break'. Also, not that it matters, but I often have it with the rest of the meal of which is mostly drank with water of course.

Short Communication
Diabetes mellitus is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide [1]. The causes of type-2 diabetes are multi-factorial, and supplements can play an important role on its’ incidence, severity and management [2]. Hence studies have frequently focused on dietary components beneficial in the prevention and treatment of diabetes. Recent studies have demonstrated that numerous herbal and nutraceutical products have beneficial effects in patients by improving glucose and lipid metabolism, antioxidant status, disease progression and capillary function [3].
Lysulin™ is a new supplement for people with Type 2 diabetes and prediabetes and those atrisk of developing diabetes and metabolic syndrome [4]. Lysulin is a nutritional supplement tablet manufactured in the USA which contains the essential amino acid Lysine, a micronutrient Zinc and Vitamin C as the active ingredients, together with other standard excipients (Lysulin Inc, San Diego, CA) (www.lysulin.com). The patent pending Lysulin formulation contains the essential amino acid, lysine, a mineral, zinc, and vitamin C. All of these ingredients have been shown in over 20 years of R&D and clinical studies to lower blood glucose, lower glycated proteins and improve the lipid profile by lowering cholesterol and LDL and raising HDL. Daily use of Lysulin™ may slow or halt the progression of prediabetes to diabetes and slow or halt the progression of diabetes complications by lowering protein glycation.
We wish to report the largest documented three month drop in HbA1c in a newly diagnosed patient with Type 2 diabetes. MR was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes as a result of an HbA1c of 12.8. He immediately was prescribed 2000mg Metformin and 2mg Lisinopril a day. He also started self-treatment with 2 servings a day of Lysulin, a nutritional supplement for people with diabetes and prediabetes. The following drop in HbA1c was observed:
As seen, a dramatic drop is HbA1c was observed after just one month and by 3 months the HbA1c had dropped from 12.8% down to 5.4%. Several new double blind, placebo-controlled studies are underway and we plan to report on the finding that the drop in HbA1c can be seen is as little as 1 month following treatment with Lysulin and also that the use of continuous glucose monitoring shows improvement in glycemic control is as little as one week following the initiation of use of Lysulin (manuscript in preparation). Such observations may mean that home testing for HbA1c on a monthly basis may lead to more effective diabetes management. This report of a large drop in HbA1c is extraordinary and shows the promise of adding Lysulin to other oral diabetes medicines to achieve outstanding glycemic control.

2021.03.29 05:50 gordonturibamwe Lupus herbal therapy

I was diagnosed with Lupus nephritis in 2014. I have been on Prednisone 10MG x 1, Plaquenil - (Hydroxychloroquine) - 40MG x 1, CellCept(Mycophenolate) - 500MG x 2, Lisinopril - 20MG x 1 for 6 years now. A year ago I started experiencing sharp, stabbing pains while breathing. Doing small tasks would leave me gasping for air. I was later diagnosed with Pleuritis. I started taking herbal medicine and it has helped me so much with lungs, joint pains, and itchy sensitive skin. I keep taking my medication but also supplement my treatment with natural herbs. I am sharing this just to help someone out there who may be looking for a supplemental treatment, I am not a dr or a medical expert I am just a Lupus patient sharing what is working for me.

2020.09.10 15:45 Chokinchocobo23 When is it time to accept genetics and start taking BP meds?

I've been diagnosed with HBP for quite some time now. First time I found out I was feeling bad and went to the doctor. My BP at the time which was my highest recorded was almost 160/92.
I lost about 40 lbs right after that and started eating better. Got my BP down to 130/92.
Went to the doctor the other day and it still remains the same. He keeps trying to get me on Lisinopril 5 or 10mg I forget.
Has anyone found success with lowering BP without meds? Herbal supplements.
Also if it's worth noting I smoke about half a gram of cannabis a day and sometimes make a lightly mixed alcohol beverage on a daily basis.
Ive cut out a lot of fast food, high sodium and processed foods. When is it time to accept that it might just be genetics.
Im not a fan of taking pharmaceuticals so any natural remedy would be preferred.
Edit:Also consume about a cup or 2 of coffee per day.
Im 5'9, 160lbs. 28 year old male.
Last edit :P My fasting BP is also in the 130/92 range.

2019.10.29 04:16 AlexandriaVineyard Is this anxiety? Or insomnia? Any advice appreciated!

24F 5’6 75kg Caucasian U.K No existing medical issues Nexplanon Implant (contraception) Used to be a casual drinker (~2x/mo), doing Stoptober with my family No recreational drug use
So for the past few weeks I’ve been REALLY struggling to sleep - not managing to sleep until 3/4/5am, waking every hour or less, and, although throughout the day I feel it, but ignore it, when I get into bed I can feel this almost adrenaline feeling in my arms and legs along with a tight knot of worry in my tummy, and although I feel it during the day, it’s harder to ignore when I’m trying to block out everything to get to bed. The adrenaline feeling makes it impossible to sleep for ages because I feel like I need to get up and go for a run, or hit something, to try and use this energy up. Some nights when I get my head into a vicious circle of thinking, I can become a little short of breath and have to ‘talk myself down’.
My mother and my sister have both experienced panic attacks in the past, but up until now, I was lucky in that I’ve never experienced this - I always used to think of myself as happy go lucky person; positive, nothing could hurt me - so I’m not sure if what I’m feeling IS anxiety.
I always used to be able to use ‘thinking through situations’ to help myself feel better. But now, I can’t stop it when it reaches its ‘end point’. I panic, and go through every situation - what would I do if each family member died, where they might die, how they might die, how I would support my family, what they would do, what I would do, etc. It varies from financial situations, to death, to other situations.
I’ve tried soothing music. Acupuncture. Cutting out all caffeine. Rescue remedy. Lavender pillow sprays. Herbal stress relief tablets. Herbal sleep teas. Clenching one muscle at a time and then releasing. Opening a window to cool my room down. I’ve even tried drinking alcohol in the evening as depressants to help me sleep - Etc!
I’ve been through a rough year - left an amazing job to move 400 miles to live with who I thought was the one, who turned out to be narcissistic and a serial cheater, spent most of my savings on my house we lived in, then in July I found the courage to end things - moved back in with my parents, and started the process of selling the house 400 miles away. I’ve only just managed to secure a job (found out Thursday) which is amazing but I’m constantly aware that I’ve set myself back immeasurably by following my heart, and this links in to the thoughts that run through my head with this adrenaline feeling.
In all the issues that happened during the last year, I also gained a lot of weight. I used to be 63kg, so during October my family and I have cut out all alcohol, and have been eating healthy, mostly vegetable based dinners (but we have protein I.e fish, chicken, tofu) in almost every meal, in an attempt to lose it - and it’s been working, I’ve been losing weight steadily, as have my parents.
Since this ‘anxiety’ has become more apparent over the course of October, I’m wondering if perhaps it is linked somehow to the foods I’m eating? Or is this normal to have peak periods of time where it seems worse?
I ask about the foods because my mother (55F, white coat syndrome, on Lisinopril for HBP) over the past few days has complained of almost my exact symptoms - insomnia, feeling too much energy, but unlike me, she’s also become sullen and ‘in a bad mood/aggressive mood’. She’s always been what I would call a ‘worrier’, and has been diagnosed with anxiety in the past, but I:
A) want to know if what I am experiencing is anxiety? Insomnia?
B) want to know if this dieting could be having an effect on both me and my mother?
C) want to know what the treatment might be? If it’s therapy, I know in the UK at least I can get treated quicker privately than on the NHS, so I would rather get this going as quickly as possible.
D) can my UK GP tell anyone if I am diagnosed with anxiety? I don’t want to lose my job!
I know it sounds strange and the above is very convoluted, but this is my first experience with anxiety and I want to make sure I have all the facts - before going to a GP and discussing this with them. The last thing I want to do is waste anyone’s time, and the ‘what is anxiety?’ websites can be less than helpful at the best of times!
As I type this, it’s 03:22am. I’m desperate, please, for any advice.
Thank-you to anyone in advance who responds to this, from the bottom of my heart.
