TL;DR: Want to find kind-hearted, respectful people to learn alongside and hopefully even work on fantasy rpg projects with
I am not new to game design but i would still consider myself to be inexperienced because i have been dabbling with environment/level design in UE for the past couple years but i haven't gotten really far just because lack of motivation and a solid goal to reach for. also just a lack of game design friends.
I tried INAT before and i met some cool and diverse people and made a game design discord server with them and even started working on prototypes but everyone had a different dream game they wanted to make so it didn't really last long so i want to find people who want to work on the same types of games i do which is unlikely but i figured i'd post just in case i get lucky.
The types of games i would want to work on would be ones that include, D&D-esque fantasy settings(or even future-fantasy settings), magic systems, life and combat skills, tab-targeted combat or soulslike combat, character customization, stories/quests with a least a little bit of depth to them(not the generic fetch quests), npc's with depth and character, different nations/cultures, and technology affected by the presence of magic.
The main goal i would want to work towards is a fantasy classless rpg that is heavily skill and exploration based that puts emphasis on just exploring the world and picking up skills as well as leveling said skills along the way to allow you to build your character the way you want ideally without the motivation to just choose a meta. think games like Project Gorgon or Kenshi if you've heard of them.
I've always been in love with game environments, i started with WoW and Skyrim and went from there. Ever since i was young i wanted to create a world that gave that same feeling of adventure and wonderlust, i love mmorpgs specifically but they have become very similar in that most put the player character on rails and heavily guide the player along a certain path which is not a bad thing, ffxiv does that and it's a fantastic game but i also love ttrpgs like D&D and Pathfinder that give players the freedom to weave their own story. I'm not saying i want to make an mmorpg as that is a laughably unrealistic goal to give myself, but i want to make a game that evokes the same feelings.
I'm not looking to immediately get to work on a game but i want to find like minded people who want to learn together and practice working together. Also we don't have to work on my idea specifically but i would prefer staying in the same ballpark. (i.e. classless skills, combat, magic, some sort of fantasy setting)
The tools i would prefer to use and have experience in are Unreal Engine and Git.
It doesn't really matter what field you want to specialize in as long as you're passionate, willing to learn, want/able to contribute, and want to just have fun on the journey.
Morals are important as well, i would like to work with people who are respectful and keep an open mind, in other words people who dont hate on lgbtq+ or aren't misogynistic or bigoted.

So, this is my ideal DCU Bat Family.
I will say, there is a few small issues that even I have with this. James Gunn has said that Bruce could be a few years older than Superman (Who is roughly in universe 30-35)
So I tried my best to squeeze all of the Robins in the Bat Family while Trying to keep the ages or al least the looks of their age reasonable.
So I'll give a description of each fan-casting down below.
(Keep in mind I take into consideration that any of these actors can and probably will bulk up if need be)
Bruce Wayne: Theo James - 39 Years old - 6'0 or 182.88 cm A sorta kinda popular fan cast for Bruce Wayne that I really like because I've seen plenty of his material and I think him playing a decently seasoned Batman would work really well (I'd say he'd be a 37-40 year old Bruce Wayne)
Damian Wayne: Javon Walton - 17 Years old - 5'8 or 172.72 cm I picked Damian second because I knew I wanted him to resemble the actor for Bruce but I also wanted to find a young actor who fits all the boxes. I'll admit, he may be a little old but I envision Damian to be older than the average Robin age in this universe. While it'll still be a comic accurate world, I think a 10-12 year old would be too much in that direction for me and most audiences. (I'd say he'd be a 15-16 year old Damian Wayne)
Alfren Pennysworth: Christian Bale - 50 Years old - 6'0 or 182.88 cm I know this one is strange, but I love "Earth: One" Alfred where he's depicted as this war torn experienced and wise man who was hired by the Wayne's to protect them. Now I don't think he needs to be a bodyguard at all, but I think keeping him with a history like that would create a dynamic character that would still feel like Alfred but in a different light. (I'd say he'd be a 55-60 year old Alfred Pennysworth, and yes I poorly edited his hair gray for the sake of this)
Dick Grayson: Timothée Chalamet - 28 Years Old - 5'10 or 177.80 cm This is by far the MOST popular fancast for the character and definitely on this list, but Timothée embodies the charming and charismatic personality of Dick Grayson perfectly, and him being the poster boy of Hollywood at the moment would 1. bring in many viewers to the DCU and 2. even fits the character of Dick Grayson as he's essentially the poster boy of DC right now and has been for awhile. I also think his age fits well with the other actors very well. (I'd say he'd be a 24-26 year old Dick Grayson)
Jason Todd: Jack Champion - 19 Years old- 6'1 or 185.42 cm Jack Champion has been in my mind for Jason Todd for awhile now. The movies he's in that aren't Avatar 2 may not have the best writing, but him as an actor works so well for Jason Todd for me, I feel if he was given the right opportunity he'd really shine and I really think this could be a potential role for him. He also is a bit on the younger side, but since he's the tallest actor on this list and looks like he could bulk up really well, I think it would make a big difference in how old he looks compared to say the actor for Tim Drake or Damian Wayne. Plus you could chalk it up to him being dead for several years. (I'd say he'd be a 21-23 year old Jason Todd)
Tim Drake: Tanner Buchanan - 25 Years old - 5'8 or 172.72 cm Normally I see him casted as Jason Todd, or a Matt Reeves Dick Grayson, but I think his stature, looks and acting range would work really well for Tim Drake. I feel like his personality would complement Tim Drake very well, and I will say he is older than I'd like but him being on the shorter side and looking very youthful would help him easily fit a late teens, early 20's Robin like I think he would be in the DCU. (I'd say he'd be a 18-20 year old Tim Drake)

Hi! So, first of all, I'm from Italy, so sorry in advance for my bad english. And secondly, sorry for the reaaaally long post.
Anyway, I've finally found the courage to try to approach game developing, something I've been wanting to do for years. It will be in my spare time since I've gotta work, but hey I gotta try it now before it's too late for my small brain to learn something new. I don't have the money or time to enter a school, so I'll try to learn as much as possible on my own, following online courses ecc. For the kind of game I have in mind I think I'll go with game maker. I used rpg maker and other "light" softwares many many years ago, completely forgot how to use them, but they wouldn't be flexible enough for my project anyway. So, as far as the game developing software goes, either I learn how to use it or I don't and the project dies right at the start. Fortunately, the gameplay ideas ar not too complicated to realize, but the real obstacle on my path, about which I'm asking for help in this post, is the creation of assets. I'm learning to draw (actually re-learning, I could produce something not too horryfing to look at when I was much younger, then I stopped drawing and now I've got to start over) so that I can create my own assets, since everything will be in 2d and in a kind of hand-drawn style. But still, I'll be real, I know for a fact that I won't be able to make great art, it would be a miracle to make something passable. That's why I'm researching some tools to help me achieve a better look for my future assets and to compensate my lack of skill (and yes, patience too). I know you can buy pre-made assets, but I want to at least try to make my own if I can. We're living in a time where each day there's a massive technological leap that makes a lot easier to achieve things that once were extremely difficult to do, especially with AIs. I studied cinema, so I know some softwares in the video editing field, but I know very little in the game development one, so I'd like to know which softwares could help me in this task. Example: I need to draw the face of a character to show during a dialogue. Even if stylized, I have (and fear I'll always have) difficulties drawing a face from scratch, like actually imagining it in my head. With ai tools I can generate some faces based on facial features and decorations given by me in the prompt, pick some pieces here and there from different results, toy with them in photoshop (I'm pretty skilled with ph) and drawing over the final result, adding my own ideas to it. It would also be useful to find a software that, starting from a "plain" expression makes other expressions (you can somewhat do that in photoshop too). Obviously I'd redraw every change, but it would be a starting point. Other example: I found this software that offers a massive help in creating a sprite sheet starting from a single drawing. I've been ranting for too much, let's wrap this up by describing briefly what kind of game I'm designing, so that you know what kind of tools could be useful. But generally speaking I'm open to any tool that you might find useful, you never know what I could need for future projects. Anyway, the best way to put it would be an extremely story-driven game like To the moon (with a hand-drawn style, not in pixel art), but with a lot of dialogue options and some "actual" (not in an offensive way, I love Too the moon lol) gameplay, not only puzzles. It would be visualized from a semi top-down view, so I'll need to think about everything from that perspective, other than cut-scenes and dialogues. As for the cut-scenes I think I'll just have to draw the single moments and cross-fade them; as for the dialogues there will always be a small portrait of the face of the character who's speaking.
I hope it's clear what I'm looking for. Aaaaand now let's see what you come up with :)
P.S. I know that AIs are a sticky subject and I couldn't summarize in this post what I think of them. Let's just say that I think that for a small, self-published project their use is justified as long as the raw asset produced by them is reworked so much by the artist to the point that he/she made it their own. Artists have always used collages and references to help create original artwork, so I see them as a starting point, especially for unskilled individuals like me, not as a final product, at least if you're profiting out of your project. If your project is completely free, eh, you could get a pass depending on the circumstances. If you're a big company and you're using AIs to avoid paying an actual artist, well you can go f yourself :) But this is not the point of my post

These books were really popular in the 80s and early 90s, they helped inspire my love for RPG games. They were like choose your own adventures but instead you created a character picked out various powers and skills and rolled stats using a 0-9 table in the back of the book and then you read the adventure and when you were finished with your book you could buy more and carry your character from one book to the next and upgrade them by raising stats and picking out a new skill or power. They were really fun to read and there were over a dozen of them. The world and lore was extremely well thought out with maps in the book, history to learn as you progressed from book to book. There were always new things to find in the book and a number of paths to get to the end. Sometimes on a new read through you would meet a character or two you didn't discover the first time through. Used to stay up late and binge read them before going to bed. They could take sometime to play through maybe an hour or two maybe a little more depending on certain factors. Of the books that I owned Shadows on the sand was my favorite it was a double length book and it had your character evading assassins and and some political intrigue it was epic. Does anyone else have fond memories of the books?

The Plot:
Helyas is the home to many creatures, Humans, elves, orcs, and Spirits. A long time ago many of these creatures lived in peace with one another. They learned and loved each other. But after an event called The Soul Exodus, things were no longer the same. Humans and other mortals came into conflict with the spirits. They had wars and for a moment, the mortals were nearly wiped out, but they were spared.
After that day Spirits became second class in Helyas. Mortals built up their empires and kingdoms and gained power all on their own. However, many believe that this age of mortals is only temporary. That the spirits are biding their time, and plan to strike back even harder. Some have seen signs. Others have felt the harsh power of dark spirits. Helyas is stirring building up to a war of spirits, and unless something is done to stop it, Helyas will fall to ruin.
Goal:
I’m hoping to find someone who would love to jump into Helyas and figure out what is going on. Work towards a goal and try to help save Helyas from imploding on itself.

Exactly how much the studio can gross for the first weekend depends on how many screenings each theater can pack into 72 hours by finding enough staff willing to work the extra hours and keep the pic running continuously.
It's interesting reading some of the comments under that article - many believed it will deliver, but not much more than what has already been done, few believed in the "B", but none predicated what happened.

Narrative Intro Nerves twist your guts as you peer through the thin mist playing across the cobbles on the Emerald Bridge. You can make out hazy figures marching in the same direction, some excited, some nervious. One spills his guts over the side of the bridge. Not likley that you'll be seeing that one after exams. Surrounded by soon-to-be students at the Grand Guild University, to march over the bridge and onto the campus grounds. The tall spires of the buildings begin to take shape through the mist, becoming clearer with ever step forward. And there it is. Framed by twin waterfalls on either side. Looking around, you see other students with their jaws hanging agape in awe of the splender of the school. The school you are soon to be attending. Just have to get past the exams. The exams that will pave the way to your future. You swallow your nerves, hold your head up, and walk through the gates towards your destiny.

Hello there, I am here requesting Spirit City: Lofi Sessions for the 2nd time.
Why I want it- I want it because of its built-in productivity tools, including a to-do list for organization which I need to be honest, a timer and plus lofi music playing. This would help me keep me organized and keep me working on stuff, mainly stuff for D&D games, like maps, adventures, plotlines, and such. Ive finally come back to the game after hearing and then proceeding to neglect the GIGANTIC 2.0 patch manier months ago now.
So starting a new character, New V, New experience, ive come to wonder what the hell is up with the skill tree?
Im feeling severely limited in what i can do with my newly acquired Vincent 2.0
  1. I now feel like i have to hyperfocus on a single skill path, As in spec into either Body, Engineering, Intelligence, etc. For me to really play the game. But at the most i can spec into 2, but the incentive to do is killed because the only real benefit is in Open world skill checks and dialouge options.
  2. Because if i dont hyperfocus, the skill system is useless, So much of the Skill system now seems to be built around Predetermined Playstyles which are gatekept in the same skill tree and its more so Skill kits like it was World of Warcraft with a pattern of skills to activate, and less like free form create your own kit and style.
  3. This leads me to damage output and abilities all coming with prerequisits and conditions to meet before you start to do real damage
  4. Which then leads into, Your playstyle is made for you not by you, and you cannot multispec or ACTUALLY make YOUR OWN style, Cause each style does not synergize with any other style, its either or
Sandevistan and Blades synergize, But that makes for example Intelligence completely irrelevant, you cannot Really incorporate Int based gameplay and if you spec into other skill trees your combos and synergy will just be stunted till you reach the next skill tier
Quickhacks and Smart weapons synergize in thr Int tree, But it negates and deinsentivises specing into other trees to suplement and exploring options and insentivises to just stay in your lane
Variety stealth builds have been nerfed to high heavens it seems, because stealth is reliant on funnily enough silence, and quickhacks while range seems completely neutered in this equation, So its just about Sneaking around and stuffing people into dumpsters ypurself more akin to hitman and doesnt allow for different approaches like a puzzle solving angle or striking like a hunter in the night.
The same thing goes with Shotguns, HMG's, LMG's and the like, you have to focus on this Blaze of glory rain of bullets approach, cause you cannot simply play with a prefernece for Heavy guns you have to lean all the way into the playstyle they decdied to be the definitive for the archetype.
Also status effect based builds seem dead?
I just feel like this new and supposedly improved skill progression system funnily enough have just killed off a large portion of the RPG gameplay spectrum. Its catering entirely to those who like "chosing an Archetype/Class to play as throughout the game RPG's", think something akin to picking between SnipeAssault/Gadget/Heavy/Techie and alienated those who prefer a more DnD class spec'ing style where you can have a variety of approaches to the same class, Think, Fire rate Vs Crit Chance Vs Crit damage Vs Effect. Rather than just including more of the elements from the 1st example if they felt the skill tree was too generalist
