2024.05.20 07:03 CaddyDaddy702 New Costco Orders!!

I have been offered really high dollar Costco orders since it started a couple days ago as high as $38 for 9 items for 7 miles. I haven’t been into a Costco in years, and my last memory of being there is lines almost 15 carts long taking 20-30 minutes to check out. Im in Las Vegas, if any Vegas drivers have taken a Costco order from the one on park run was it worth it? In general how have they gone so far for drivers?

I remember there was a crime scene at I think was the strip club Catherine worked at. I remember her telling the boss or someone she had worked there and him going “I don’t remember you” and she responded with something like “you’d remember me”. I thought that line went so hard and I wanna watch it again but can’t find it, thanks!

I'm looking into a career change and property management has caught my eye. Especially since in Vegas, the salary range seems decent (around 40-70k).
Any property managers out there, or anyone with knowledge of the industry in Las Vegas, I'd love to hear your insights! Thanks in advance!

2024.05.20 06:49 rebelweezeralliance A great idea for the Astrodome (basically The Sphere)…

I was talking to my brother tonight about what the city should do with the Astrodome and a great idea came up. They could basically turn the Astrodome into a concert venue like the Sphere. The interior could be giant LED screens on the roof and over a portion of the dome so it gives the feeling of being outside like in the sphere.
However when they’re not using it for that, they could project an image of the dome ceiling and stands so it feels like you’re in the old dome. Could even make it show the old scoreboard etc.
Then there could be a big shop/museum inside the venue too. They could source up the outside with some LEDs too.
Basically making “The Astrodome,” have a similar meaning as “The Sphere” does for Las Vegas.
What do you guys think?

2024.05.20 06:45 EternallyLostSoulzz I let my friends “advice” or jealousy be effect my high school romance and first crush

Friend, who is also a female was in love with me for several years an friend, who is also a female was in love with me for several years and unrequited, unspoken love it was unrequited, unspoken love, our friendship recently ended, because I wasn’t able to meet the expectations of the partner she wanted me to be for her and which I never wanted to be, I met this kid my freshman year of high school. This is when I really met him. I knew about him before then, but we met orientation day. It felt like a dream he was so cute and weird just my type haha My friend started calling him fedora kid right off the bat and I was an insecure 15 year old I tried to stand up for him, but my voice wasn’t strong enough so I turned it into a cute thing at least for me, But my friend was always making fun of him. I’m trying to get the rest of the kids in our friend group to make fun of him while also hyping me to be with him. I didn’t know what I wanted. I know I wanted to get to know him I never got the chance… at least not in person, I ended up moving across state a week after school started. We only got to talk a couple times in person. I had one of my friends deliver him a note that I wrote telling him I liked him and I thought he was cute but I was moving so I wanted to at least be able to get his socials which I received within the week hehe, anyway A couple years went by we stopped talking for a bit at one point, but then we reconnected, and then I was finally gonna go visit, I was at my friends who had just moved back from Las Vegas and we were doing pills and drinking and smoking weed, I don’t know what I was thinking I just wanted to hang out and not have so much anxiety around him…we smoked some weed after he arrived then took some Xanax and that’s where it gets fuzzy or blank, I remember cutting the pills and then it was night time and my friend was going to the bathroom with me..I hit my head concussion level hard on the corner of the counter..my head bounced and I immediately started hysterically laughing at that..so did my friend tho so I thought it mustn’t have really been that hard…the next thing I remember is chugging some whiskey he brought straight outa the bottle like it was nothing..because I must’ve felt like nothing that was bad combo but yea so the next thing I remember is being made out with and felt down, I was sexually abused as a kid, so this was really triggering for me. I was so fucked up I couldn’t even fucking move so I passed out, and when I woke up in the morning, he was wrapped around me. and the panic kicked in And the panic kicked in what happened, what happened? He was supposed to sleep on the couch! Then I feel shame and embarrassment, I was still so insecure… I don’t exactly remember how the rest of that day went, but I got out of bed I went to the bathroom I got on my phone and I called my mom and then I went outside.. he woke up sometime later and he tried to talk to me but I couldn’t. I was still frantically panicked in the pills I couldn’t think because of the after effect. I just wanted to get away or to get away so I kicked him out or I had my friend kick him out. I’m disgusted by myself. He ended up walking home. I gave him my cord so he could charge his phone and he was gone. He left probably pretty expensive leather jacket at my friends as well as another belonging. I can’t remember what it was. I left them with my friend and told her to throw them away. me he didn’t care about them. He told me I could keep them but I didn’t want them. I felt gross. He called me so many times trying to apologize and remedy shit and I was with my Las Vegas pill popping party friend and I cared too much what she thought I guess. So I ended things and went no contact. I would’ve graduated high school last year throughout the entire time we have been on and off messaging and most of the time he was sweet and apologetic painfully apologetic but my default was anger and it shut it down. A few of the later times I tried to talk to him but I couldn’t for very long and multiple times I ended up blowing up on him and going no contact again. no matter how many times I contact he was always orbiting me my socials, and my friends and family socials interact with mine once in a while and that’s usually how the interactions started, the most recent time he viewed my story and liked to post of mine and I’m at like a low low for myself right now and I just didn’t wanna deal with it so my first message I initiated this was move on or I’m gonna call the cops if I don’t kill myself instead… I’m not proud of saying that not at all.. But he was kind in response and it really made my walls crumbling down I can’t be cruel to such a kind person, we’ve been talking for like two months now I’ve apologized so many times I wish I could apologize more but no amount of apologies can take that shit back. so instead, I’m a be there for him like I promised him years ago He kind of changed my mind about killing myself so I don’t exactly know what I feel towards him right now normally I don’t really feel anything besides anger. That kind of feels like my chest is gonna explode. I’m so scared to hurt him again, though I feel like if I initiated a relationship, he could potentially be open to it. But at the same time the situation is pretty much the same it’s long-distance and im still working on myself and I really like being friends being friends is safer right now too, honestly, I don’t really know why I’m posting this here. I don’t really know where to post it I don’t know why I’m posting it either would love some insight. I’d really love that.

I had this weird flashback moment today and I need to know if anyone else remembers this chick?? I followed her way back in the day... like 2013 maybe? I just went back to her profile and man, she's unrecognizable now. She also has over 1.3 million followers 😯
A weird fact, because I remember being fascinated by her relationship at the time: She met this guy from BC, Canada on vacation in Mexico, Braden, they got married, built a ridiculous house together and they eventually split. I googled him and he ended up getting shot during the Vegas shooting, and lived. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/braden-matejka-las-vegas-shot-1.4335722
I just need to know if anyone else remembers her because it feels like such a far away memory.. Please enjoy her cotton candy colored outfits, current photos and know that I thought if I bought those black scalloped undies from Victoria's secret, I'd be rail thin with a booty, too.

I'm getting a comp night offered for totally legitimate reasons.
My choices are the Wynn Las Vegas or the Studio 6 North Las Vegas. I had a good experience at a "6" branded property in the early 2000s, while I've never heard of a "Wynn".
Any insights on this? Thanks!

2024.05.20 04:38 dblowe Tim Powers' style changing over time

I've read many of Tim Powers' books (except the two earliest), and there's something that I've noticed in his books over his career. I'm curious to see if others feel the same way.
For me, there's something that happens around the time of Last Call. I read that one with pleasure when it came out, but even so there seemed to be something a bit different about it compared to earlier Powers books. I put some of that that down to the difference with the contemporary LA/Las Vegas setting as opposed to the historical settings of the others, but there was something else as well. Last Call seemed somehow a bit longer than it should be (or needed to be), especially in the setup to the big card games out on the lake.
When Expiration Date came out, I bought it immediately, but I admit that I was curious to see if the odd feeling that I'd had about Last Call persisted. Unfortunately, it did: this was the first Powers book that really started to feel like a slog. I finished it, but I can't say that I found it a satisfying read. That longer-than-it-should-be impression was stronger than ever - somehow the plot seemed to be weighed down and rumbling along slowly to its conclusion. Over the next few years I never even had the urge to re-read it, which was also a first for me with a Powers novel. Given that, I never even bothered to try out Earthquake Weather when it came out. I now own a copy; I picked up a used paperback a few years ago in case I felt like trying it out. But I never have.
Eventually I saw the paperback of Declare and decided to give Powers another shot. The Kim Philby/Cold War storyline appealed to me (I already knew a lot more of that back story than I had known about, say, the comings and goings of the Romantic poets), and I was looking forward to seeing how it looked through Powers' imagination. Unfortunately, although there are definitely plot points and good scenes that stayed in my memory, my main impression was a feeling of grinding my way slowly uphill through a rocky grey landscape. I was actually glad when it was over, a feeling that hit me even stronger than it had with Expiration Date.
This whole thing was prompted by an attempted re-read of Declare over the last week. I'm sad to say that I DNF'ed this time, skipping ahead to read some of the scenes that I remembered being impressed by, and also spending some time trying to put my finger on what made things so unpleasant. For now, here's what I have:
  1. As mentioned, the plots have become much less slam-bang over the years. I understand that this is a matter of taste, and some readers may like the different pace more or find the earlier books too rushed. But to me, it seems like the later books are a bit too worked-out, to the point that you can see how they are most likely to end and how they're going to get there.
  2. That too-worked-out feeling extends to the prose as well. Declare seems as if it could have lost at least fifty pages to its benefit. Some of that could be ironing out some of the curlicues of the plot, but you could probably lose that much just by toning down the endless details and restatements. Phrases like "with the left hand, at arm’s length, unacknowledged and deniable" keep showing up and they really don't need to be triple-barreled. To pick another example, when Hale is heading back to the apartment that he shares with Elena in wartime Paris, we don't just hear that he's bringing dinner. No, we hear that he has "baguettes and a terrine of goose liver pâté wrapped in newspapers", and we are told exactly where the boulangerie was where he stopped off on the way. Throughout the book, meals and clothing and appearances and surroundings are described in great detail, with almost no opportunities missed. Some of this is welcome scene-setting, but it's just relentless. It's as if Powers was unable to leave out any of the details that he'd researched for the novel - the street layout of 1940s Paris, subtle differences in Arabic dialects, the weather patterns in Kuwait, the type of plane that Hale is flying on to his next destination, how many engines it has, what they sound like. . .
  3. Another thing that I noticed was the absence of the small humorous touches that showed up in earlier Powers books. These were still showing up in Last Call, but thinned out in Expiration Date, and as far as I can see are completely missing in Declare. That's surely a conscious artistic choice, because the subject matter is often grim as well, so I can't complain about it that much. But it is obvious.
  4. Part of that grim-and-serious tone seems to be a ramping up of Powers' own Catholic faith working its way into his fiction. I don't want to be controversial here, but a key unstated underpinning of Declare is that Catholicism Is True. I agree with Powers' view that the Soviet Union was a horrible government, by the way, although I never revved it up to the point of having them in league with actual demons. But I think that's a big part of the book's tone, a literal struggle between good and absolute evil, not that there's anything wrong with that per se. But I think that Powers' Catholicism makes it all too serious a subject for anything to be taken lightly in the book and for any details to be left out as the plot is worked out to the last bit.
I'm going on so long that I'm probably guilty of some of the same problems that I'm detailing! I'll stop here, but as mentioned at the start, I do wonder if there are others out there who've noticed these changes and their reactions to them. . .

The Las Vegas Raiders are a professional American football team based in Las Vegas, Nevada, that competes in the National Football League (NFL). The Raiders have won three Super Bowl championships (1977, 1981 and 1984), an American Football League (AFL) championship in 1967, and four American Football Conference (AFC) titles. They are viewed by many as the "villains" of the NFL due to their historical tendency toward rough play, and embody the motto coined by their former owner Al Davis: "Just win, baby."
