2024.05.20 02:13 Interesting_Ice8007 Please help, been struggling for a long time

I have a collection of symptoms that have been causing me problems for ~10 years. They come for 1-2 weeks roughly every 1-2 months and seriously affect my quality of life.
Consistent symptoms:
Symptoms that aren't as correlated to those above but could be worth mentioning:
I'm seeing a doctor but they haven't found anything yet. Labs showed normal TSH, A1C, cortisol, no H. pylori etc... Although these tests weren't done at peak symptoms.
This is really affecting me so any ideas would be great.

2024.05.19 23:15 Sarasota53 Miralax + 300 mg of mag citrate vs. Ibsrela

Have been using daily miralax + additional 300 mg of mag citrate tablets when needed, for chronic constipation for 2 years. Down to every other day for the most part. GI gave me a prescription for IBSRela at my last visit he didn't mention any diarrhia just normal stools. I haven't felt like I needed it so far. I am put off by some reported side effects, major diarrhia , blood in stool, cramping etc. So far so good with miralax and mag cit. Anyone else shifted over to IBSrela and had side effect problems? I am working with diet and exercise. I have no desire to ramp up to a stronger treatment. My goal is to loose weight, improve diet and exercise to manage the condition. I an in my 70's and have no prior problems with constipation since these episodes. Dr. said I would probably have major improvement after loosing weight and staying vegetarian and be off laxatives and supplements. All tests colonoscopy, endoscopy, CT scans, ultra sounds are all negative. Scheduled for a 5 year colonoscopy next year. Appreciate any comments or your own experiences. Thanks.

2024.05.19 23:09 ILoveChickenSammies Bloody stool? Anyone relate?

Bloody shits?!
This should be a fun one. As title says. I’m about exactly two weeks into ~10mg per day of rad. When I started I had some loose bowel movements that have kind of calmed down since and read it can happen. I now just recently took a dump. Maybe a bit loose but no pain. Looked down and saw the water pretty bright red. The stool itself was not bright red and looked fully normal, just the water. I know a doctor is the only one who can tell me but just posting here to see if anyone has any clues or has experienced this as it’s Sunday so I can’t get into a doctor until tomorrow. Thanks!
Edit: I’m also on 1000MG NAC a day, haven’t messed with my diet except for actually eating a bit healthier

2024.05.19 23:04 BaioC Bleeding (and venting) post surgery

I had surgery (on three grade three internals) five weeks, ago and I'm still bleeding a little and in pain. It's not unbearable - normally just a few drops of blood on my stool/on the tp during a bm and a sharp stinging (I made this post a lil while ago about my recovery), following by a bit of burning that peaks a few hours after. However, recovery has been slooooooow.
When I last went in to hospital they said there's a chance I've now got a fissure (the doc couldn't find one, although he didn't go in that far) and I'm kinda treating it like that. In the last week I've had a couple of days with no blood and no painkillers, which feels like progress, but also a couple of bad days (one brought on by a very loose bm), which has been pretty disheartening. I'm up and moving around, doing most of my regular stuff, but I'm still holding off on things like proper exercise as I'm scared it could re-open the wound.
I want to a) ask the following questions:
  1. Does this track with other people's experiences? I've seen similar posts from people on here. Do we think recovery from this is just a bitch, or is this more likely a fissure?
  2. Is it worth seeing a doc again? I am on the NHS and they won't see me unless I'm haemorrhaging blood/and or have developed sepsis, leprosy or flesh-eating bacteria, so I'd have to fork out a few hundred quid for an appointment. This isn't the end of the world, but I don't know whether I'd get any sort of alternative diagnosis/treatment. They've already prescribed diltiazem in case it is a fissure.
and b) share what seems to be working/helping:
  1. Not going too crazy on the fibre, and concentrating on getting enough protein in. This is mainly because things have been too loose (obviously, I'm still avoiding hard stools at all costs) but I didn't take a solid shit for a couple weeks during my recovery and I think that hasn't helped things.
  2. This Aussie woman, who has the GOAT shitting technique - the video is for fissures, but in my non-medical opinion the principles are the same for hemorrhoids and surgery - keeping things relaxed while getting things out. Saw an almost immediate improvement after trying it and wish I'd been doing this yeeeears ago.
  3. Staying on top of your mental health - this has been absolutely fucking exhausting, having terrible hemorrhoids, horrific surgery and now this long long recovery. It's very difficult to stay positive when you have a bad day and I'm trying as much as possible to see the big picture and think in terms of weeks instead of days.

Biography

Mace Blacktyde was born into House Blacktyde, a once-proud lineage among the Ironborn, renowned for their seafaring prowess and fierce loyalty to the Drowned God. He grew up amidst the salty winds and crashing waves of the Iron Islands, surrounded by tales of conquest and glory. But told from the eaves of old, broken men. The dragonfire stole what true pride any Ironborn could fetter up from their abysmal depths. From a young age, Mace showed promise as a warrior, displaying a natural talent for swordplay and a keen mind for strategy. A promising yet hollow future for anyone born in the Islands during their sequestering. While many fled the Islands, he and his family remained. However, his life took a drastic turn when the Westerlands launched brutal assaults on the Iron Islands. House Blacktyde, like many others, suffered greatly. Mace, then in his late teens, witnessed his house's fortunes plummet from lofty heights of wealth and power to the depths of destitution and despair. The once formidable coffers and vaults of Castle Blacktyde were emptied, leaving behind a hollow shell of its former self. At the culmination of this dark hour; he drowned.
This period of upheaval and loss left an indelible mark on Mace's psyche. It ignited a fire within him—a fierce determination to reclaim what was lost and restore honor to his house. Empowered by his youth, Mace's resilience and resourcefulness became apparent as he navigated the chaos of total upheaval. Like many, his eyes focused on distant Essos. Once he could recover what ships and able bodies; and willing souls that the Drowned God had not yet claimed - he set out to reave. It was during these perilous journeys that Mace truly came into his own. He honed his skills as a captain and fighter, earning a fearsome reputation among both friend and foe. Each successful raid brought back spoils, wealth, and knowledge of distant lands and cultures. This ignition of such fervency drove him deeper into the mythos of his religion, his culture. He took a salt wife of a bested adversary. Then drowned again.
However, his newfound success did nothing for the man as an individual, Mace's heart remained tied to Blacktyde. With each return to his homeland, he brought with him treasures and stories of his exploits, with the hope to reignite the flames of prosperity of a bygone age. His efforts, ultimately, were met with greed and dissatisfaction. House Blacktyd's leadership, the main branch. Though not many they still possessed the maxim of what little social power that an Iron Islander could possess after what the West did to them; and of course they craved more. The stories of old, provoked within them the so-called Old Ways. And by that; Mace suffered. This time he would not drown. When met with conflict of greed, as unsustainable as it was, he took his wife and now child away from Blacktyde. Away from his home. Away from his identity.
A year passed on the water, independent, sailing, from port and jetty. A hard year. That is when he found the Blue Sails, and people who were at least familiar to him, welcoming to his kind. Though he is rough to fit in, he understands that this way means life, while the old way only lead to death.

2024.05.19 22:00 pixiewitch666 product recommendations for 3a/3c hair, low porosity, history of heat damage?

hi everyone! just for a little background, im mixed and inherited my hair texture from my puerto rican father. he never knew how to take care of his hair, and my mom has relatively straight hair so she didn't know how to help either. it curled on its own just fine until i was 12 years old and started straightening my hair daily at a very high heat (425°F) because i was being bullied at school over my curls. im 20 years old now, almost 21, and my hair has been heat-free since 15 years old, when i finally panicked upon realizing my hair wasn't curling after it got wet anymore. my curls have since returned, but i find they now require a lot more maintenance than they did when i was a kid. over the years ive determined i have 3a/3b hair type, but most of the time it looks like a very frizzy 2c because i brush it out or the friction of sleeping on it makes it straighter. i struggle with buildup on my scalp and my hair has a hard time absorbing the moisture it needs. ive heard a lot about Mielle products and was thinking about getting stuff from them, but I can't tell if they have anything that's good for both my hair texture and type. if Mielle doesn't have anything, can anyone recommend other affordable products?
i also figured I'd provide some background on my current routine. i wash my hair every 3-4 days. on wash days, i put Lemonaid Hair Syrup in my hair for several hours (i find it combats the slightly oily scalp and extends time between wash days) and then wash it out with Shea Moisture's low porosity shampoo. then i condition either with Shea Moisture's low porosity conditioner or &honey's melty conditioner. (the low porosity stuff is probably good but i hate how it smells) afterwards i usually let my hair air dry or sometimes i wrap it in one of those twisty hair wraps made of microfiber. i tie my hair in a loose low bun to sleep usually. i brush my hair when i wake up in the morning most days, just dry, with a tangle teezer. my hair usually doesn't get wet again until next wash day. i haven't put in any out-of-shower products like deep conditioner or gel or mousse or anything because i don't know what to use.
any help is appreciated :)

2024.05.19 20:25 exinanis_ Please help, epigastric pain, fainting attacks, lost 50lbs severe fatigue ive been deteriorating for months

Male 31 5 11 210 lbs All tests done and the abnormal results: Endoscopy Colonoscopy Abdominal ultrasound Ct head without contrast Ecg(wildly different results but no doctor has said anything about them) Stress test (blood pressure was 237/67 so had to stop Holter monitor (normal) Ct chest Ct pelvis Ct abdomen x 8 (small fat containing ventral hernia, l5 pars defects spondylothesis level 1 one scan said mural wall thickening and they said i had gastritis) Gastric emptying study
I've been to the ER and doctors office quite a bit for this but have only seen mid level practitioners mostly and have been waiting months for specialists. i really need help with understanding what could be wrong. in the last 4 months it started as severe epigastric abdominal pain and "fainting" where my ears would start to ring my vision would become grey and blurry and i would start to loose conciousness but not entirely. I've had 4 episodes of the "fainting" one was accompanied by severe sweating, i was drenched in sweat within 1 minute. I have these attacks that happen where i feel uneasy and have had stomach pain where its difficult to identify where exactly its coming from and then i feel a sense of doom and like im going to die and start to cough and throw up and then i have the "fainting" it peaks and i power through the fainting and then it subsides after about 30 minutes and i am left with severe weakness and constant stomach pain. I have had labs done initially the only abnormal labs were: Lactate 2.8 Elevated bilirubin Elevated protein (this has been constant) Elevated globulin Elevated cortisol Elevated renin
Other labs that have been checked and are normal are Fecal elastase Parasite stool HepAtic panel (besides bilirubin the one time) Lipase Cbc come back normal besides in February i had an infection of some sort. Occasionally low sodium and high calcium Ferritin B12 T4 Tsh Parathyroid
The lactate returned to normal within the same day and hasn't been checked again
In February i had severe elevated white counts and an infection with "left shift" i was tachycardic and was treated with iv antibiotics.
Ive had 14 ct scans all of which have showed nothing besides a ventral hernia and diverticulitis and l5 pars defects This all started in december after a month long strep infection and month long covid infection back to back ive had my gallbladder removed in 2020 and the surgery was complicated i had necrosis and an abcess. The months before this started i had severe diarrhea that wouldn't stop i noticed my food was coming out undigested and I couldn't have a solid stool then i got sick and when i was over covid i was smoking a cigarette coughed extremely forcefully and then about 5 minutes later had the first "fainting" episode which was terrifying. I went to the hospital right away and they chest for a pulmonary embolism since this one episode ive had severe stomach pain that i cant readily identify where its coming from, it feels as though i am missing an essential nutrient or enzyme that is keeping me from thriving.
I have lost 50lbs in the last 4 months it has been difficult to eat.
I feel extremely fatigued mostly due to this abdominal pain and i feel as though i am confused alot of the time, doctors have told me i am fine and to wait for the specialists I have an appointment for an oncologist/hemotologist a cradiology cta scan and for a hida scan but im not sure its any of these things, i feel as though i am dying because i am missing a vitamin of some sort i feel awful I don't know how long i can deal with this weaknesss and pain. I wake up with pain and sleeping doesnt make me feel rested. I also have went from sleeping 9 to 10 hours a day to 6 to 7 since this has started. I am so weak and starting to become delirious over this all I am very worried and appreciate any insight.

2024.05.19 19:46 kikiikoalaa Looking for dry food for 3yr old cat with loose stool/diarrhea and anal glad issues

My female 3yo cat (Evie) started having loose stool around the age of 1 and started scooting. I took her to the vet and they would express her anal glands. They basically told me this is likely just something I’m going to have to do every few months. It’s just something we’re going to have to deal with and there really isn’t a fix except surgery (which they said would likely lead to other issues and I don’t want to put her through that).
All the times in the last 2 years that I’ve been dealing with this and taking her to the vet for it, they give her probiotics like proviable dc and it helps temporarily. They only give us the week long doses for anything anti-diarrheal. They’ve never found anything concerning in her many stool samples I’ve brought in.
I have another cat, a male 5yr old (Moon).
When Evie started having these issues I started feeding them both Blue Buffalo True Solutions FIT & HEALTHY dry food (in combination with wet food) because the fit & healthy kibble has the highest fiber I’ve seen on the market at 12% min. crude fiber. It helped! Her stool firmed up, and it didn’t seem to change Moon’s stool at all. Evie still was scooting but I think at this point it’s become a habit (we’ve been working on breaking the habit but even if I keep her away from carpeted areas after she poops, she’s opted for scooting on the laminate floors sometimes 😣💔 my poor baby, but she’s learning to lick herself clean).
I’ve recently learned that blue buffalo is one of the worst foods to feed cats and I’m really upset about it. I feel bad that I didn’t know and was giving them something that isn’t good for them. It was the only food that worked for Evie and didn’t cause any issues for Moon in the process.
Now I’ve been searching everywhere and looking at all of the ingredients and nutritional breakdowns of every dry food and can’t seem to find anything nearly as close to 12% fiber. I don’t know what to do.
I’ve been slowly trying to switch them over to “Wellness complete health grain free indoor” kibble but Evie isn’t responding well and has had diarrhea since adding it in. I figured maybe her body is adjusting, but it only has 5% fiber, so I just don’t think her tummy is ever going to adjust to it.
I put a scoop of glandex into her wet food once a day as the vet suggested. It did seem to help for a while when I first started her on it about a year or so ago, but I don’t feel like it’s made a difference in a long time.
Does anyone have any advice on this? Or any suggestions on what could help bulk her poop up? They both drink plenty of water and I add more water into their wet food daily.
I’m low income and can’t afford to buy prescription food or hill science etc., but I also am willing to splurge a bit for them. Blue buffalo wasn’t cheap but it helped her and they both liked it.
I know this is a lot of information I’m sorry.
(She also hates pumpkin - I’ve tried)
TLDR; my cat has loose stool to diarrhea consistently and has anal gland issues, the only dry food that helped was blue buffalo with 12% fiber. Trying to switch to another brand that has high fiber options.

2024.05.19 19:41 FaeryKerii Newly diagnosed

Hello all!
First I will admit that I have medical anxiety and am convinced I have cancer at least once a month. That said, I’ve been having epigastric pain and loose, thin stools since November. At first it sat in the center of my chest but for the past couple of months it’s sat in the middle to right below my left rib. I’ve had two CT scans, an abdominal ultrasound, endoscopy, and a colonoscopy. All have came back clean minus a 6mm simple cyst on my liver. My blood work showed mildly (in the 40s) elevated liver enzymes so they did a fibroscan to get for NAFLD. It was also normal. They officially diagnosed me with IBS and prescribed 40mg omeprazole once a day. Is it common to feel IBS related pain in that spot?

2024.05.19 17:38 SinVerguenza04 Review: Keys Soulcare 2-in-1 Concealer + Tint

Sigh, I really wanted to like this but I just don’t. I got shade “110 C Extra Light Cool Pink” and the shade match was on point. I swatched it on my neck and I literally could not see it. I’ll give the brand points for producing an actual fair cool-toned product.
That said, I found it really hard to use with any kind of tools. It was difficult to use a brush with it (mainly how I apply my complexion products), found that a sponge wasn’t much better, nor my fingers. It has a very light coverage which I like, but it looked patchy on one side of my face, and not the other. The patchiness happened almost immediately, and it got worse once I applied Givenchy’s loose powder blush.
I started thinking that maybe this happened because of the products I used to prep. First, I applied EltaMD’s sunscreen and let it soak in for maybe 20 minutes. Then I applied Lawless’s Forget The Filler Skin- Plumping Primer, mainly for the moisturizing benefits of it. I also let that soak in for a decent amount of time. I have oily skin and have never dealt with dryness, but maybe it was because that side of my face was dry? I’m not sure.
I really like the packaging. The bottle has a nice weight to it and it looks pretty slick. My only complaint about the packaging is that it uses dofa. I’d rather have another form of dispensing
This was a $28 product, so not the most expensive skin tint on the market. But overall, the product just felt cheap to me. I’m going to give it one more shot at some point and maybe switch up the primer in the prep, but my first impression of this product is not great.
That said, I rate it 5/10. Mostly for the color match.

2024.05.19 16:42 avalonrose14 My Bisalp experience [25F]

Feel free to ask me any questions and I’ll do my best to keep this concise but I can be known to ramble and want to make sure I cover some things I haven’t seen talked about before.
Scheduling: Got new insurance in January. Discovered the insurance covers female sterilization at 100% so I went on the doctor list here, did some research, and picked out my doctor. Called mid January to book, had my consult end of February, surgery was May 15th (last Wednesday).
Consult: I was worried because I’ve heard so much about people getting rejected but the entire time my doctor assured me this was my decision to make and she just wanted to make sure I’d thought about every consequence. I was honest with her that while I was positive this is what I wanted I originally had planned to wait until I was in my 30s to make sure but due to the current political climate I felt I didn’t have the luxury of waiting. I was concerned if I didn’t get this done pre election I’d never be able to or I’d have to travel to get it done. She approved me and we had planned to do a Pap smear while I was there but their computer system crashed so we decided to combine it with the surgery and just do it while I was under.
Pre procedure: Pre-op stuff was super normal. Got a call with instructions around a week out. I can go into more details if anyone has questions but the big thing for me was I was told to not smoke 24 hrs prior and I’ve been trying to quit vaping so I decided to throw out my vape 24 hrs prior to the procedure. The lead up to the surgery was terrible and I regret quitting so close to it because it meant I could drink alcohol or caffeine to try and distract myself since those were also banned so close. But post surgery with me being high on oxy the first few days I completely made it through the worst part of quitting without any problems. I’m only a week clean but highly recommend using surgery to quit addictions it’s a great time to utilize your body being distracted by other stuff.
Surgery: everyone at the hospital was great and nobody tried to change my mind. My surgeon did say I could change my mind up until I was put under and that nobody would be mad. I assured her I was totally hyped and ready to go and that was that. I’ve never had a surgery before so I wasn’t sure how I’d react to anesthesia but I woke up before theyd even finished rolling me into post op. I heard the nurse rolling me in talking about her dog and just was instantly awake and asking her about her pupper. I think I scared her slightly because I was just immediately coherent and mostly just really annoyed because my throat hurt and my mouth was dry. She gave me water and asked if I wanted something for nausea. I didn’t feel any nausea but said yes just in case and I’m glad I did because shortly after she gave it to me I got super nauseous. It kicked in pretty quick and I didn’t throw up so a win. When I first woke up my pain was around a 3 but was quickly ramping up so they gave me a 5mg oxycodone. It took a bit for it to kick in but once it did it completely wiped out my pain. I was able to get discharged within an hour of waking up because I immediately was eating and drinking and was able to get up and walk on my own and go pee which checked all their boxes.
Recovery: I was given 8 oxycodone 5mg and then told to pick up Tylenol, ibuprofen, and stool softener. Alternate the Tylenol and ibuprofen so I’m taking something every 3 hrs and then oxy as needed. I mostly used the oxy to sleep as every muscle in my body felt like I’d run a marathon starting day 2. My back was extremely sore and my skin was tender EVERYWHERE. Also thanks to doing the Pap smear while I was under my vag was sore as fuck too. I must’ve bit my lip while I was under because my lip was all swollen and the absolute worse pain I was feeling was how sore my throat was from the breathing tube. My throat is still sore, back still hurts, muscles are still tender as fuck, but I’m fully off oxy and overall feel fine. I haven’t had a good bowel movement yet so hoping for that soon but I’ll be going back to work tomorrow and overall this surgery recovery hasn’t been any worse than being sick from the flu or something.
Also make sure you have plenty of comfy loose dresses. You will want the comfiest of lounge wear during this recovery. I have my post op this Friday but I’m so happy to finally have this done. It’s a giant weight off my shoulder.

2024.05.19 16:24 JozzyV1 Need advice on finding the right dog food for our new dog.

Hello!
My wife and I got a new dog about 8 months ago. Her name is Harper, when we got her she was a little over a year old and we were already her third family as people have been giving up on her due to her having high anxiety. My wife and I are committed to giving her a forever home, but she has had a lot of issues. She is a pitbull/terrier mix (from what we’ve been told) and is about 35lbs.
For a little medical background, within the first few months of getting Harper she needed to be treated for 2 ear infections as well as loose stools including an instance where there was mucous and blood mixed in for a few days. She also has a red bumpy chin and acne issues, and we believe she has yeast issues as she is constantly licking her feet for extended periods of time.
In terms of her history with food, her second owner told us she was grain-free because of allergies and they had her on a grain-free, dry blend poultry based kibble. I forget the brand as we’re 7 months removed from that. She immediately started having her bowel issues a few weeks after we got her, and we temporarily put her on a bland diet of poached chicken breasts and rice. Her issues improved but she went back to having pretty loose stools quickly. After another bout of diarrhea and another talk with the vet, we did a diet of rice and ground beef and things went better. Once she recovered we were told by the vet that she probably shouldn’t be grain-free, and that poultry allergies are very common in dogs so we should switch her to something else. They recommended Purina Pro Plan, so we’ve been giving her the Purina Pro Plan Salmon and Rice shredded formula. She gets about a cup and a half of this for breakfast and for dinner. The consistency of her stools has improved, however every time she poops it starts with solid poop and ends with very soft, pudding like stool. Sometimes it’s all soft as well and she’s had a few random bouts of diarrhea and a few accidents in the house. I also constantly hear her stomach gurgling and I feel like this is all adding to her anxiety. I realized today that the Purina Pro Plan is a “high protein” food, so I’m wondering if she’s just not getting enough fiber. But I also see that all Purina Pro Plan seems to be marketed as “high protein”, so I don’t know if that’s really a factor. Regardless, I don’t think this food is right for her but I don’t know what to change it to. In terms of treats, her regular treats are Charlie Bear grain free dry treats in a few different flavors and her high value treats are Trader Joe’s Salmon and Sweet potato soft treats. She also gets a little bit of fresh fruit every day, normally a few pieces of apple, a frozen strawberry or two in the morning, and occasionally a little piece of banana.
So I’m here asking for advice. I’m trying to do everything I can to make her happy, reduce her stress and make life for my wife and myself a little easier. We really want to dial in the right doors for her. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

2024.05.19 16:10 OffTheWall992 Quality of life is down, health anxiety through the roof, fear of losing girlfriend, affecting work/life balance. More mental than physical?

34, M. I’ve been ‘chasing’ GI stuff over the last 2-3 years with what mostly everyone else considers normal habits. I had covid twice (2020, 2022) but also had HPylori positive in 2020 - no real symptoms other than burning stomach on occasion, eradicated it. I’ve had my b12, D, folate, full CBC, lipid, metabolic, thyroid, liver function, pancreatic function panels,, 3 ultrasounds, and an EGD. The EGD showed gastritis and small ulcer, negative biopsies. All my blood labs and ultrasounds are normal. Fecal elastase is normal. Fecal inflammatory markers normal. Fecal fat tests, normal.
I took a microbiome test by Thorne in October, it showed mild dysbiosis. I’ve adjusted my diet to have a bit more variety to help with that.
My concerns and symptoms: occasional floating stools, urgency in morning after waking up (30-45mins), average a Bristol 5. I get loud noises in my stomach and sometimes air bubbles forming that lead to what feels like bloating but I look at myself and I don’t appear it. I’m a lean build as it is so it could be low body fat causing the sounds to be louder.
The other night I had some garlic dressing with a bunch of fried food (chicken, fries) and some alcohol. I am aware of fodmaps but didn’t think garlic ranch dressing would cause issues. I was BLOATED all day yesterday, anxious as hell, LOUD noises and I went to the bathroom 4 times. The first two were quite normal. Solid formed stool. The next two was hardly any stool but it was loose, mostly just air. I haven’t gone since 4pm yesterday but I also fasted ALL of yesterday.
Things like that make me fearful of food poisoning, if I have something wrong internally, etc. I’m 6’ barely 152lbs and a fast metabolism. Most I’ve weighed was 180 5 years ago. 5 years ago I was also going to the gym 4-5 days a week lifting, eating 3-4k calories. I’ve barely done the gym in 3 years, I eat about 1700-2500calories a day.
Is this all anxiety obsession over benign normal health? Do I need a colonoscopy? Why do I just randomly get weird instances of urgency? I’ve debated bile binders, my doctors have offered my Rifaximin, I haven’t done either. My family is tired of my complaining, my girlfriend doesn’t have empathy, and it’s affecting my daily life obsessing about SIBO or colitis or something…

2024.05.19 14:58 FormerCornDog Diarrhea when switching formula?

My 4.5 month old twins were doing great on Ferber good start gentle pro, but we had to try them on different formulas because that one isn’t covered by wic. We tried soothe pro first (out of stock everywhere sadly so had to change) THEN similac total care, but they were super fussy and uncomfortable on it, so now we are trying enfamil gentlease. They’ve been on it for about 4 days now, and they’re getting increasingly fussy and having super watery diarrhea up to 6 times a day. Also, hunching over as if they’re clenching their stomachs from discomfort. Before this, they were not fussy and only pooped once a day, not loose stools. I know they say to give formula like 2 weeks to know the true effects from it, but I hate to keep them on it with their diarrhea and discomfort getting worse. Is this normal when switching? Should it go away or should I switch back to one that works? TIA

2024.05.19 12:54 BrunoLizpic94 Soft stools with no EPI and enzymes

Hi all!
not diagnosed (had almost all possible tests except genetics), lurking around due to LUQ pain and occasional soft/loose stool (mostly once/twice a week). Now I have loose stools for about a week and can not get rid of it. I dont have EPI (tester twice, last was a month ago) and take enzymes (they help me with discomfort and have better quality stool - since a week ago). I have been on a “lower fat” diet since I started tolerating fat a bit better. Went from 35-40g per day to 60-65g. All these facts are bringing up the idea in my mind it that the problem is not my pancreas. Has anyone had similar issues and turned out to be the pancreas? Or does anyone have a suggestion what this possibly could mean? Doctors dont listen anymore. Thanks!

2024.05.19 12:35 PerceptionOk706 Can ginger root make ibs worse long term?

So i started ginger root pills and they reduced my symptoms massively for like a month. Only after that, my symptoms came back worse than before(especially loose stool). I didn’t make any life style changes in the mean time so im suspecting the ginger changing things.

2024.05.19 07:36 Fantastic-Frame4628 Is this sibo?

Ik it's very long but please give it a read
I've had persistent nausea since last year....it all started with abdominal cramps dull aching pain on left side lasting a week...had an endoscopy which showed gastritis Cut to Oct 2023 had violent coughing which would make me vomit...then it evolved into nausea! Tried omeprazole plus domperidon combo and it went away...it hit me again in Jan 2024 so went for another endoscopy which suggested mild reflux esophagitis And gastroduodenitis...doc just upped my dose of ppi Found temporary relief but flared up again so this time i changed doc...he ordered for a poop test for h pylori and it came back negative!!!!!now he just put me on amitryptaline and a prokinetic Although my symptoms have reduced but i still have no answers at all. I'm freaking out what if it is gastroparesis? I hope its not....my follow up is after 2 months Please help me calm my anxiety Edit: i wasn't on any ppi On prokinetic and amitryptaline I've been experiencing loose semi formed stools and sometimes watery with undigested vegetable skins

2024.05.19 06:08 kagura_143 Sudden Digestive Issues, what is happening to me?

Age: 22
Sex: F
Height: 5’1”
Weight: 164 lbs
Race: hispanic
Duration of complaint: 3 months
Location: abdomen
Currently have high cholesterol. bad cholesterol count of 103 according to my primary care.
Current medications: metoclopramide 5mg. sertraline 25mg, pantoprazole 40mg
i’ll include pictures of some tests that i’ve had done in the comments if i can.
Gonna try to include as best of a description of my symptoms as i can, i’ll also try to edit anything if it makes my description better.
this all started 2 months ago. literally the last week of february. at the time i wasn’t on any type of medication. nothing changed in my eating habits, except for the fact that i’d had panda express for the 1st time ever starting in february.
i became constipated suddenly one afternoon and this continued for a week. went to the doctor and i was sent to get a ct scan. but obviously, i’m not familiar with medical terms. from what i understand, there’s evidence of slow transit through my small bowel, but don’t know where or why exactly.
symptoms include: constipation accompanied by side and abdominal discomfort/aches/ pains. my upper abdominal area aches a lot some days. it feels as if the area right under the breast bones wants to cramp up. i feel burning in my stomach and abdomen too. gas is hard to pass somedays and feels trapped. i also have upper back aches. doctor told me it’s because of my small intestine. i also have lower back aches as well, but was told it could be because of kidney stones i didn’t even know i had, but just thought i’d mention this. i have diarrhea (once i went and it was very watery,) loose stools, stools with mucus and pieces of undigested food, mainly meat, of varying shapes and consistencies. the mucus on my stool is clear and white and appears like strings on my stool. sometimes i’ll have a semi normal movement, but with mucus. sometimes my stool will be thin, in small pieces, or just very loose even after a “normal” bowel movement. other times i’ll go but it’s just mucus. all my stools are also slimey in texture from what i can tell. also, everytime i wipe my stool it’s yellow in color with mucus and/or clear fluid. sometimes i’ll have this urgency to go despite being constipated.
also, not sure if this has to do with my current condition but have been wiping light red blood after i go, both with my more solid stools and loose ones. in one instance i even wiped only blood. there’s also been times where i’ve seen streaks of blood on my stool too. clear fluid also seems to be leaking out of my anal area…. clear mucus sometimes too. this causes my anal area and the inside of it to itch and sting. it feels like that sometimes after a bowel movement, even if it’s soft, other times it just feels itchy throughout the day, even if there is no anal leakage or if i don’t go to the bathroom. the mucus that comes out sometimes has pieces of stool/liquid that is the color of my stool. even with the supplements and meds i’ve been given, i’m lucky if I go even once a day now, but constipation is getting worse in my opinion.
in late march/early april i started to experience nausea, heartburn, acid reflux, and severe loss of appetite. all of these symptoms have persisted since. i no longer eat any of the food i used to. i can’t eat fast food or meat any more. i’m sticking to fruit, no citrusy fruits, crackers, soups, and cereal with almond or lactose free milk. even with these changes in diet my symptoms have persisted.
i eat very little because i just don’t feel hunger like i used to at all. even if i do i find that i get full very easily. i’m bloated after i eat as well. also, like i said i’m constipated so my bowel movement are little to none.
also, not sure if this is relevant but during these last 3 months i’ve also started to urinate more frequently at night. i have to wake up and go. i can feel a burning discomfort if i don’t near my bladder area. i was diagnosed with bacterial vaginosis for the first time ever earlier this month. previously the only symptoms id had of this was white, thicker, and more than usual discharge. some itching and a burning pain not when i’d urinate but on my sides at my sides, on my back, and the pain wrapped around to my upper abdomen sometimes. urinating a bit of blood while also wiping light pink and seeing visible bright res streaks of blood when i wipes as well. i was given metronidazole 500mg for a week to treat it. Now, i’ve been experiencing a slightly weaker urine stream & that same burning discomfort, mainly around my left back side, but still feel it on my right. i also wiped bright pink and noticed blood in my urine as well as a bright red streak when i wiped again. i also still have to wake up at night or early in the morning to urinate, but only saw blood today in the afternoon. i’m unsure if this has to do with a reaccuring infection, i read that this could happen, or if it’s another issue entirely. i included pictures of an ultra sound i got, but my doctor did tell me that nothing abnormal was seen when it came to my pelvis, bladder, kidneys, and all of the other organs in my abdomen. they did find 2 cysts, one on my left ovary during the ct scan, and one on my right ovary during the ultrasound. interestingly, the cyst on my left ovary was gone by the time they found the cyst on the right ovary.
i currently still have all of the symptoms above and they don’t seem to be improving.
in a addition to a ct scan i’ve gotten tested for a blood infection, negative. celiac disease blood test came back negative. stool test for h pylori came back negative. a test to find if there was any blood digested and present in my stool came back negative. a stool test that was done to measure levels of fat in my stool came back indicating normal levels of fat in my stool. i also got an ultra sound for lumps that appeared on my abdomen but it was found that they were just fatty lumps. i also got an endoscopy in late april where 3 tissue biospies were taken. apparently, the 3 things they tested for all came back negative. other than a bacterial infection, i have no idea what else they ruled out. i’m not even quite sure what bacterial infections they ruled out.
honestly, i’m getting more questions than answers at the moment and just want to know if there’s any more testing that i should ask for. what could possibly be happening to me and why?
