up the rest of the way out of the trail and all of a sudden the hair goes up on the back of his neck and you just start going and he's kind of doing the like straight on into the sideways but like your hair punch ing a picture I'll blow ing myself in there getting the sewing machine leg really bad okay like use a low voice they calm but make yourself look and sound big so I was going to go my biggest twice as you can go hey and to be in that you guys might be really late to disconnect and he started charging and I'm like oh Greg and it's so sick like it's not even I can't even get a shot on like I know he's coming but I can't even get a shot on until he probably about like maybe a little bit further from them from like me to loosen and he's like three quarters and I have my 30 ought 6 so I hit him right behind the shoulder and that's when I really don't care cuz I hit him like three quarters right behind the shoulder and part of my friends but pissed him off like you started going like fighting it inside like a feast on him or something please like spinning around in circles like biting it inside so he's got his and I had a pump truck and so I could or not shotgun pump 30 out today don't buy one that wouldn't give up on me a couple years later but that's another story anyways like jammed another one in so he's got his other shoulder to me couldn't fight night his side pants and him a second bam jacked another one and hit him at third time right so once recorder twice peroxide right behind the shoulder and at that point he's probably about like for me to Gavin he goes to stand up on his hind legs and kind of stumbled backwards and like I can't even describe how terrified I'd like and I just started running for the beach as fast as I could really really sick like blueberry bushes and stuff and there's a little bit of a ravine that I sell and I stop for like a Split Second Adventure crash crashed on my lights off I remember looking at those like those claws are like the size of your fingers that's right and like seeing those and I'm running as fast as I can to the beach but I honestly thought like I was waiting at any point for like him to come from behind it you know one of those can I get to the beach I'm like did I get you kill it or no I think it was chasing me so you know got my brother we got in the boat got out of there went back to town one of our good friends there wasn't a fishing game tonight but he worked for them sometimes like he's cute stuff so late we go back there and we finally found it like we go back there which was kind of nerve-wracking

1 Week in Peru (May 2024)
Trip Report in May: Lima, Cusco, Pisac, Machu Picchu
  • We went on May 12th 2024.
  • We don't speak Spanish but learned basic words to come by.
  • I suggest you get some Sol currency from your home country before arriving. We took 400 Sol with us.
  • I saw some posts suggesting BCP ATM to get cash, I would recommend against it. We used Cajero Banco de la Nacion ATM and we were not charged extra fees (although limit is 400 Sol).
  • You can use credit card in most restaurants in Lima, Cusco, Pisac an Machu Picchu.
Lima:
  • We bought SIM card in Lima airport from Peru SIM before leaving the free zone. Only passport required. 80 Sol for 5Gb/1week. I suggest you get more than 5G if you are going to browse the internet during your trip.
How to recharge Peru SIM:
  1. Install Mi Cuy App
  2. Choose "Peru SIM" from multiple choice question in the beginning.
  3. Use phone number to login and your passport number as password.
  4. Personally, none of my cards worked to recharge the SIM, I tried both Visa & Master Card).
  5. There is an option to recharge but texting a WhatsApp number were they send someone to you to recharge it but I didn't explore that option.
  • Stayed: 1.5 days (2 days ideal).
  • We used Uber in Lima with no issues.
  • We stayed in Miraflores, I would have stayed in Barranco but there were more options in Miraflores.
  • Explored: Miraflores, Barranco, Centro Histórico.
  • Before booking a restaurant check their opening hours. A lot of restaurants allow reservations half an before closing which can be frustrating.
  • Tips: Book restaurants in advance, locals dine around noon. Tried: Isolina (100 Sol/person, good vibe, food okay) and Al Toke Pez (30 Sol/person, not worth >30 min wait). Other recommended spots: Jose Antonio, Cerveceria Del Valle Sagrado, Don Fernando Restaurant, La Petite France, Central, La Mar, Maido, Osaka.
  • Bars: La Noche De Barranco, Juanito De Barranco.
  • Walk/Visit:
    • Miraflores: If the sky is clear, go to Parque Del Amor and walk on Mal. Cisneros.
    • Barranco: Walk on Av. Almte. Miguel towards Parroquia La Santisima Cruz, Bajada De Baños, Bridge of Sighs, C. La Ermita, Biblioteca Municipal, Museo Pedro De Osma.
    • Centro: St. Martin Square, Jiron de la Union, Lima Main Square, Basilica & Convent of San Francisco, Mercado Central & Chinatown, Larco Museum.
Cusco:
  • Stayed: 3 days (2 days for altitude acclimation).
  • We used Uber in Lima with no issues.
  • Some recommend you go directly from Cusco airport to Ollantaytambo (2 hours drive) to acclimate better to altitude, we didn't do that.
  • Regardless how many days you are planning to stay, if you are visiting museums in cusco or planning to visit Archaeological sites. Consider buying "Tourist tickets" in cash at some sites entrances or in Cusco from "Boleto Turístico Cusco" Av. El Sol 103, Cusco 08002 ,Peru), I added table below but for more or updated details check here
  • YOU CAN NOT get Tourist tickets from "COSITUC CENTRAL OFFICE" outside the Centro area. It's just management office.
CUSCO TOURIST TICKETS AS OF MAY 2024
  • To acclimate to the elevation, consider the following tips: drink coca tea, avoid alcohol, eat light meals, and rest for the first two days.
  • I took half a 25mg "Acetazolamide" pill from a pharmacy in Lima twice a day without consulting a doctor, but you should consult a doctor before doing so. Stay hydrated, and expect more frequent visits to the washroom due to the medication.
  • Stayed: Airbnb near San Blas Market (east part quieter).
  • Walk/Visit:
    • Explore San Blas Market square, walk east until the end of C. Carmen Alto, then walk up and take a right on C. Tandapata, then up on C. Pasñapakana to reach San Blas Viewpoint (great at sunset). LIMBUS RestoBar looks cool.
    • Explore the city center: Plaza Mayor de Cusco, Museo de Arte Religioso, Museo de Sitio Qorikancha, Plazoleta Espinar, Plaza Regocijo, San Pedro Market.
  • Best prices for souvenirs I found are on C. Hatunrumiyoc & open market in Plaza Regocijo.
  • Shopping: None of the shops have unique merchandise. Compare prices at multiple places, especially shops outside busy zones and away from the Marriott.
  • I doubt that any pure Alpaca wool is sold in these shops, so price items based on their quality and softness unless you are certain it's pure Alpaca.
For food spots, I recommend:
  • Pachapapa for dinner (better call and reserve if you're arriving after 7 PM).
  • Sepia Cusco for a nice lunch (they have a great courtyard).
  • Qura for breakfast or lunch.
  • I heard Pizza is very good in Cusco, so you should try it.
  • I liked Alpaca meat more than Cuy.
Pisac trip:
  • To enter Pisac Archaeological site you need to buy a Tourist ticket circuit 3 which cost 70 Sol/Person. You can buy it in cash at the site entrance or in Cusco from "Boleto Turístico Cusco" at Av. El Sol 103, Cusco 08002 ,Peru more details here here
  • We only visited Pisac from towns around Cusco to hike down from the Archaeological site, which takes about 2 hours. Our trip was short, and we wanted to focus on this hike.
  • If I had another day, I would have also done the Rainbow Mountain hike. For Rainbow Mountain, consider staying in Tinki the night before to start the hike early, as it gets cloudy later. Tinki is 2.5 hours from Cusco.
  • Most agencies offer group trips for around $50 USD/person and private trips for $120/person. We didn't want to visit multiple towns, so we hired an Uber driver (outside Uber) with a good car for 200 Sol for the whole trip (Cusco-Pisac and back), which was cheaper than any agency. We left at 7:30 am and returned by 2 pm. We took food and water to avoid stops on the way to Pisac except for view points of the sacred valley.
  • A cheaper alternative is taking a public colectivo from 28 Puputi St in Cusco to Pisac, then a taxi from Pisac town to the top of the Archaeological site (25 Sol one way). Some posts said taking Collective can be dangerous so avoid this if you are not an experienced traveler.
  • The hike itself is great. Although the car takes you to the top, you still need to climb for about 15 minutes before heading down. The altitude can be challenging, so take your time.
Machu Picchu
Booking Machu Picchu site tickets
  • Which ticket to buy for Machu Picchu? If you just want to visit the site choose " Circuit 1,2 + Inca bridge" or "Circuit 1,2".
  • Circuit 1 is half circuit 2. Take circuit 2 unless you physically can't take around 50 stairs.
  • You have to provide passport number when you book the ticket. They will check your passport when you arrive at the site.
  • We bought Circuit 1,2 + Inca bridge ticket two months before the trip. You can try to book it directly from the government website Gov website but we couldn't find available tickets "Cerrado" there so we bought it from the Joinn us site which worked the same for the same price
  • Don't believe posts that say Joinn Us is a scam. They say that because they have not received the tickets in the email. This is because tickets are not sent to you by email. It would be available on the site on side menu under "tickets" or "Mis entradas". You can download the tickets from Joinnus site.
  • If you are not able to buy Machu Picchu tickets online, you have to be in Agaus Calientes the morning before your visit to buy the tickets.
  • You don't need to print your tickets.
Booking a ride to Machu Picchu:
To arrive to Machu Picchu from Cusco you need to:
  1. Take a bus from Cusco to the train station as no trains leave from Cusco center (Except one, see below).
  2. Take a train to Aguas Calientes.
  3. Take a Bus from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu site OR hike up dusty mountain road for 2 hours swarmed by buses with not much room for pedestrians.
Steps 1 & 2 are included in train tickets from Peru Rail or Inca Rail. A few things to note:
  • The main difference between Inca Rail and Peru Rail is step 1. Inca Rail provides a bus ride from Cusco to Ollantaytambo (2 hours + traffic), then a train to Aguas Calientes (1h 40min). They ensure you reach Aguas Calientes, so no need to worry about connections.
IncaRail
  • Peru Rail offers a bus ride from Cusco to Poroy station (30 min) and then a train to Machu Picchu or from San Pedro (5 min) in Cusco center.
PeruRail
  • We chose Inca Rail's "The Voyager Bimodal - light" option, which includes a bus ride from Cusco to Ollantaytambo and then a train to Aguas Calientes in the lowest-cost cabin. The 2-hour bus ride was pleasant, and the cabin quality was good. Paying extra for the 1h 40min train ride isn’t necessary. If I had known about Peru Rail's San Pedro departure, I would have chosen that.
  • Arrive at the station half an hour before boarding. Our Inca Rail bus left early to beat traffic as everyone was present.
For Step 3: Bus from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu
  • Only one bus service runs frequently, about every 5 minutes.
  • Tickets can be bought in person, where you'll need to stand in line, or online at Consettur.
  • We bought tickets online to avoid lines, which weren't bad during our visit on May 16th.
  • The round trip costs $24. I don’t recommend hiking up the mountain.
Note: According to EyeWitness: Peru travel book, there’s a cheaper way to get to Machu Picchu if you're on a strict budget. You can take a bus from Cusco to the Hydroelectric station and walk for 3 hours beside the railway tracks to Machu Picchu.
What time is best to visit Machu Picchu
  • If you are doing circuit 2 (which you should as it's the longest hike in Machu Picchu) Temple of the Sun is only open between 1PM-4PM. Temple of the Condor 10am-1PM, Pyramid del Intiwatana 7am -10am.
  • We didn't have a preference, but because we left Cusco at 8:30 am, we arrived Machu Picchu at 1PM. We took the 2PM time slot as we wanted to leave the next morning. No regrets.
  • We didn't hire a guide (you don't need to hire a guide regardless of what other posts say). There are three things you need to know: 1) Follow signs for Circuito 2. 2) Make sure you don’t take the “platforma inferior” turning that happens 250m into the walk. Take "Platforma Superior". 3) If you bought the Inca Bridge ticket, know where to turn to see it. I found this travel blog helpful blog.
  • I used google to read about the different sites.
Aguas Calientes
  • We stayed at Gringo Bill's Hotel. It was decent, but I’d avoid hotels on the main streets due to noise. I didn’t like Aguas Calientes much (we stayed one night). If I had more time, I would have planned a same-day return trip to Ollantaytambo.
  • Some posts mention the hot springs in Aguas Calientes, "Baños Termales (Machu Picchu)." It's more like a public bath and not really worth it, but the hike there is nice.
  • Be cautious with food in Aguas. Many highly-rated restaurants are actually bad. I met a cook who worked there and got the inside scoop. Stick to safe food—avoid raw food and fish, and ask for well-cooked meat, especially burgers. Check the lowest and most recent reviews on Google.
  • We ate at Ponchos, and it tasted good without making us sick. However, we had pizza at Pueblo Viejo, and I’ve had better frozen pizza.
After Aguas Calientes, we took the train and bus back to Cusco, then flew to Lima the same day. Flights from Cusco to Lima are often delayed, so check your flight history if you're on a tight schedule. We left for Lima Airport on a Sunday morning, and the roads leading to the highway were blocked, taking an extra hour to reach the airport.
Overall, it was an amazing trip. Next time, I would stay for two weeks and follow the EyeWitness: Peru travel book's two-week itinerary. I would also definitely do the Salkantay hike.

I've had this problem for a while. I have a mailman who puts a lot of our mail in the neighbors mailbox. The biggest problem is is that the last people living there we never saw, maybe every few months or so. It was really annoying when I discovered a postcard from Postcrossing that had passed the 60 day waiting period. I had one that had been traveling for a very long time from Russia and by the time I got it registered it had been 157 days! We got new neighbors in January but they were coming and going a lot so only saw them occasionally. Yesterday they said they had mail for us, including some from you guys that was dated all the way back from February. The worst was from poor u/melhen16 who's postcard got waterlogged so I can barely read what she wrote. But what's funny is that its missing a stamp but the postal service still registered it with a dinosaur sticker on the bottom. I did have the photo, but I guess I didn't cover something up so for now it's no longer linked just to be on the safe side.
Any way thank you to these lovely people who were probably wondering if I got their awesome cards.

I’ve only seen them once in my life while driving home. They didn’t live in the spot they chose for long, which made me a little sad. But I guess they found something much better.

yá'át'ééh, just looking for a good website or resource to see a list of pow wows open to the public in NM. A bit of googling turned out fairly piecemeal. Also, does anyone have any recommendations on specific pow wows that they've found to be particularly enjoyable to go to? I grew up going to them and live in Santa Fe now, would love to show my gf what they're like and get some killer fry bread.
Edit thanks everyone! Anyone who stumbles on this thread in the future all the links provided had good info although some were slightly different. I recommend checking all of them and clicking on links to flyers and the local pueblo website. Those two places have the most detailed info about dates and times. The Pueblo Cultural Centers website had a great flyer of all the events for the year. Thanks again 🙏🙏🙏

Hey everyone, would love to hear what you guys think about this. This is my first time in Cabo and I havent spent much time in Mexico. I was approached by this guy behind the counter where I rented my car after I got off the plane. He told me he would take $200 off of my $350 car rental if I visited this hotel called Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach Golf and Spa Resort and spent 90 minutes there. He said they would give me free breakfast, a bottle of tequila and after spending 90 minutes there id get a voucher as a discount. This is the strange flyer he gave me. Would love to hear everyones opinions. P.s. I am traveling by myself at the moment.

Exploration programs to commence immediately
Toronto, Ontario--(Newsfile Corp. - April 26, 2024) - Unigold Inc. (TSXV: UGD) (OTCQB: UGDIF) (FSE: UGB1) ("Unigold" or the "Company") announces the execution of a long-form agreement (the "Agreement") with Barrick Gold Corporation ("Barrick") that details the terms under which Barrick can earn into the Neita Norte Exploration Concession in the Dominican Republic and which includes a shareholders agreement to govern the joint venture which will be formed upon successful completion of earn-in requirements for exploration, development and mining in the area.
Work is anticipated to commence immediately.
Joe Hamilton, Chairman and CEO of Unigold commented, "We are excited for Barrick to initiate exploration in the Neita Norte area. We have always viewed the western portion of the Tireo Formation as being the most prospective for finding large gold deposits in the Dominican Republic. We are delighted to partner with the foremost gold producer in the industry in order to further the exploration efforts in this area. Barrick brings considerable technical and financial capability to the project and has one of the greatest depths of exploration expertise available in the industry. Barrick operates the world-class Pueblo Viejo mine in the Dominican Republic and has installed a significant amount of related infrastructure in the country, holding a commendable record as a good corporate citizen. The Agreement creates an opportunity for both companies to benefit from the development of this frontier area. Unigold will continue to be active in the area as we concentrate on the development of the Neita Sur concession and work to convert our significant resources into producing mines."
Terms of the Agreement
As announced on July 14, 2023, Unigold granted Barrick the exclusive option to acquire a 60% undivided interest in the Neita Norte Exploration Concession by:
  1. incurring not less than US$2.5 million of expenditures in respect of the concession within the first three years;
  2. incurring a total of not less than US$8 million of expenditures in respect of the concession within the first six years and delivering a PEA;
  3. incurring a total of not less than US$12 million of expenditures in respect of the concession within the first eight years and delivering a PFS; and
  4. delivering a written notice to UGD electing to exercise the earn-in right.
Following the earn-in of a 60% interest, Barrick will have the ability to elect to sole-fund and deliver a Feasibility Study by the end of year twelve which will allow Barrick to increase its ownership in the JV to 80%. The JV is be subject to standard dilution clauses which includes the criteria that should any partner own less than 15% of the JV they would be immediately diluted to a 2.5% NSR royalty. Barrick is the manager and operator of the project.
The agreement is subject to standard representations and warranties from both parties.
About Neita Norte
The 10,903 Ha Neita Norte Exploration Concession was granted to Unigold on March 27, 2023. The concession is valid for three years and has two one-year extensions that may be granted. Unigold has held the Neita area under various Exploration Concessions since 2002. In 2022, Unigold applied to split the area into a northern section (Neita Norte) and a southern area (Neita Sur). Unigold applied to convert the Neita Sur area into an Exploitation Concession in early 2022. That application is still pending final approval from government authorities.
The Neita Norte Concession is dominated by the Tireo Formation which can be traced for 300 km along a northwest-southeast strike and averages 35 km in width. It is comprised of volcano-sedimentary rocks and lavas from an Upper Cretaceous age volcanic island arc that extends from northwestern Haiti into the Cordillera Central of the Dominican Republic. It is believed that the older rocks of the Tireo Formation were thrust from north to south over the younger marine sediments of the southerly Trois Rivieres - Peralta Formation.
The Tireo Formation is subdivided into Upper and Lower members. The older Lower Tireo occurs in the eastern part of the concession area and is dominated by volcanic, volcaniclastics and pyroclastics of predominantly andesitic composition. Porphyry copper deposits are known to occur in the Lower Tireo formation in Haiti and likely also occur within the exposures of these rocks in the Dominican Republic. The main branch of the San Jose - Restauración Thrust Fault bisects the Concession almost in half along a northwest trending corridor. The younger Upper Tireo member dominates on the western side of the thrust and is comprised largely of volcanic and volcanoclastics rocks of andesitic to rhyodacitic composition. The Upper Tireo Formation is known to host volcanogenic copper-gold massive sulphide mineralization as well as epithermal gold-silver mineralization.
Unigold has identified areas within the Neita Norte concession that host surface expressions of mineralization. Some of these areas have seen limited follow-up drilling in the past ten years.

This island arc terrain is host to Volcanogenic Massive Sulphide deposits, Intermediate and High Sulphidation Epithermal Systems and Copper-gold porphyry systems. Unigold has identified over 20 areas within the concession areas that host surface expressions of gold systems. Unigold has been concentrating on the Candelones mineralization and is moving to bring these deposits into production.

Continuing the exploration of the Colorado wilds, for the first time in a decade, the Rangers would enter into the mountains of the region, which had allowed us to keep safe from the MacArthur Regime since the inception of the Ranger Commonwealth. Filled with narrow pathways and beautiful sights, the Rockies were a place to behold for the Rangers, which have spent the majority of their lives in the plains of West Texas. Of course, this beauty also showed how vital are the pathways of the Rockies are, with any amount of fortifications making them into a perfect place for choke points, to be used in the defense of the Ranger Commonwealth. As such, the sixth and the last Northern Expedition would be formed to finalize the Northern Border of the Ranger State of Colorado.
Heading north of Pueblo, the capital of the State, we would have to move around the headwater of the Arkansas River, which wouldn't provide many challenges. The more difficult task would be the navigation towards the river of Colorado, which meant the first use of our new quadrupedal exploration Ironsides, nicknamed as Rattlers by the Frontier Exploration Department. These new vehicles are meant to allow exploration in terrains which are impassible to the typical vehicles, making our goal of reestablishing the borders of the Ranger State of Colorado far more viable than expected in the past.
The route taken to the Colorado River would be long and difficult, but with the new rattlers providing not only mobile housing, but also kitchens and maintenance quarters, the trip would be far more comfortable than in the past, with the old tents which the rangers lived during the prior expeditions being replaced by solid metal containers, refitted into a comfortable housing for 4 people in total. On December 21st, with a blizzard surrounding us, the explorers would reach the river, sending a telegram to the headquarters that the mission has been a success. With the Sixth Northern Expedition being over, the Frontier Exploration Department would announce that it has completed the final expedition to the Northern regions, with the Ranger Commonwealth finally achieving the reclamation goal of the territories in the North…

2024.04.17 00:24 Crystalid- [EXPANSION] Colorado Rangers Return Fifth Northern Expedition

With the creation of Ranger State of Colorado, the reclamation would be announced by the Governor-General John Evans Jr. for returning the territories of Colorado back into the hold. While Denver would fall under the control of the Rockies Interstate Compact, the move to Pueblo provided more than enough space for the expansion of the political organs, with the state entering into a time of rapid modernization. The gold & silver mines would also provide a needed influx of rare metals, with the expected result being the creation of the main mint of the Ranger Commonwealth in the town of Trinidad.
However, the land north would be quite a contested one, especially with the posturing we had noticed from the Nebraskans. The expedition would be a tool not only to increase the territories of the state, but showcasing the attitude of the Ranger Commonwealth, with us continuing to build up our strength and territories with a goal of becoming a powerhouse in the region. To continue this, the Colorado Rangers would be formed to help with the expedition efforts in the region, providing not only escort, but also being the official border protection agency in Colorado, keeping a watchful eye for any infiltrators.
The journey itself would be quite a tranquil one. Generally, the expeditions in Colorado were more like a leisure trips for the Frontier Exploration Department, given the aftereffect of our Ranger Anti-Bandit Missions in the region from the previous decade. The biggest change in this expedition would be the black ice which covered many roads which still existed in the region, with us continuing to go further and further north. For the first time, the gear of the Frontier Expedition Department would be one of fur coats and warm jackets, instead of the typical shirts when we were exploring the deserts and warm plains in the South, East and West. Besides this, the aftereffects of the Great Plain dust storms would still be seen in the frontier regions, with many villages and farms being left abandoned, becoming ghost towns with a rare case of a family remaining in them due to them not having anywhere else to go... On the other hand, the beauty of nature reclaiming what it has lost couldn't be understated, with villages now being full of small trees and bushes, with even the cement roads falling to time, with grass and flowers sprouting out of their cracks...
