2024.05.17 09:31 StarChild413 Wrote a bit of a filk (what you call a parody when it's not meant to be comedic) of an Owl City song called "This Isn't The End" about saving the show as the chorus of the original was stuck in my head for hours earlier today

original song for reference
The planned seven seasons of So Help Me Todd
Shouldn't end on a cliffhanger so help me god
Scott said although the fight might be tough
There might still be a chance if we're vocal enough
The questions and loose ends that leave us all vexed
Cannot be solved just by article text
We want the new stories on our TV
So let's fight for someone to make season 3
When the rain falls down
When it all turns around
When the light goes out
This isn't the end
The fall season schedules are already out
But that shouldn't cause us some despair or doubt
Midseason, cable, and streaming too
Are options to seek to give this show its due
When the rain falls down
When it all turns around
When the light goes out
This isn't the end
When the rain falls down
When it all turns around
When the light goes out
This isn't the end, no
Keep signing and writing and spreading the word
As its chance depends on us all getting heard
Or get on the news if that's not enough
By waging a protest or sending in stuff
This show deserves the ending that Scott had planned
And didn't deserve to get suddenly canned
Keep up the hope and keep up the fight
Help the little guy like Margaret and Todd Wright
The defense attorneys we must defend
It's just the beginning this isn't the end
It's just the beginning this isn't the end
As long as Scott Prendergast says there's a chance we can get more show (and the stories told not just the questions answered in interviews) we should fight to make that chance as high as possible including spreading #SaveSoHelpMeTodd #renewsohelpmetodd #sevenseasonsandamovie every social media hashtags are spreadable on

2024.05.17 09:29 Obvious-Changed What did your ADHD assessment look like?

I've had ADHD symptoms my whole childhood, which has caused severe trauma and mental damage to me. As a child, I would frequently neglect or fail to complete my homework assignments, which continues to this day (freshmen in college). This resulted in numerous teacher conferences and emails in which they told my parents, "Your child is so smart; he just doesn't work hard or apply his mind." I was also in the gifted programme, and I read online that gifted students are more likely to have ADHD than others. During work, I am extremely disruptive to my colleagues and friends, and I am frequently distracted.
Of course, those of you with ADHD are already aware of the symptoms, so I won't go into detail, but these and other factors (chronic forgetfulness, rejection sensitivity, poor time management, failing college classes, etc...) have prompted me to schedule a neuropsych evaluation for ADHD for tomorrow morning. What should I expect, and what types of tests will they administer? What do these tests look for, and what distinguishes an ADHD patient from a typical individual taking them? What will the psychologists ask me about? Also, please feel free to discuss your personal diagnosis procedure. I am interested in learning more about what I am putting myself into.

2024.05.17 09:18 rossopy Help Amplify the Voices of Palestine and Gaza

Dear Friends, Supporters, and Global Citizens,
In the heart of the Middle East lies a land often depicted in headlines but seldom understood in depth—Palestine.
The stories of its people, the struggles they endure, and the resilience they demonstrate are frequently lost in the noise
of mainstream media. I am dedicated to changing that narrative by bringing the truth to light and giving a voice to those who have long been silenced.
I have been passionately involved in social media and i love to talk about human rights. The plight of the Palestinian people is not just a distant issue to me; it is a cause that I hold close to my heart. Over the years, we have witnessed the devastating impacts of conflict and occupation on the everyday lives of Palestinians. From the bombed-out buildings in Gaza to the checkpoints in the West Bank, the stories of suffering and resilience need to be told.
The Mission
My mission is to spread accurate, heartfelt, and impactful stories about Palestine and Gaza.
The Need
However, this mission requires resources. The costs of time, tech and human resource. To continue my work and expand my reach,
I am seeking your support.
The Impact
Every dollar you contribute goes directly into amplifying the voices that the world needs to hear. Your support will not only help in covering operational costs but also ensure that the stories of resilience, hope, and struggle from Palestine reach a global audience.

2024.05.17 09:16 Mr_Porcupine 3yo Female dog, leaking while laying down, no appetite.

My 3 year old Hound/German Shepherd frequently leaks urine while laying down on a bed. She is also not eating her dog food, but will gladly accept treats. We are currently in the desert (we are travelers) and I have wondered if she is just hot or bored. She runs around and chases lizards, and lays in the shade. Other than the issues stated, she seems normal.
I got my dog from a Humane Society puppy adoption event. All the puppies were 8 weeks, from the same litter, and they were all spayed and neutered before the adoption event.
The leaking has happened before, usually when we are at an unfamiliar house, and she doesn’t know how to signal she needs to go potty since we do not live in a house (She has free reign of the outdoors). She doesn’t make any obvious hint that she’s releasing her bladder, and she’s not intentionally going. It just leaks out and she lays there in her puddle. It never happens on a floor or the ground, only on a bed. I figured she was just shy or nervous.
However, now it happens just about every time she’s laying on the bed. Sometimes it’s a little bit, but if left long enough it could be a whole puddle. But never outside.
Also, she’s now not eating her dog food. I bought new food, because I thought maybe it was old or stale. She was excited to get new food, and even ate a few bites when I first poured it. But now will not eat. She accepts treats no problem. She drinks water normally.
I’m not sure what to do. I’m considering calling a vet soon, but obviously cost, availability, and all that is a large hurdle.

2024.05.17 09:03 TheBedfordReader We got caught in a crazy storm

Everything was calm. I was working an afternoon shift because we’re short staffed this week. At around 6pm, the sky got very dark. A guest came down asking if we had a basement because he got a tornado warning- my state doesn’t have basements.
What followed was about 20 minutes of utter CHAOS. My boss and the maintenance man had to hold the door closed, letting in guests stuck in the parking lot and one of my coworkers and her family (she wasn’t working, I have no idea how she got to the area). The rain was seeping into the doors, causing a mess. I was running back and forth tossing towels on the floor to catch the water, then making sure guests were okay and not freaking out too much. The wind was around 80 miles an hour. For about 10-15 minutes.
When everything cleared, we’d lost electricity, most of our shingles, our road sign, and 5 pool lights. I stayed for the rest of my shift, checking out guests by candlelight. One old fart yelled at my boss asking “what are you gonna do about this?” And then the guy got pulled aside by another guest and lectured about not being an asshole.
My husband came by to check on me and he ended up just hanging out for the rest of my shift. I got off at 11pm. Half the town is out of electricity, including our house and we have no clue when it’ll be back on.
Tonight was WILD and it came out of nowhere. I was totally expecting a dull, sleepy shift.

Our toilet water is brown. Like a light hinge of brown. Our landlord informed us that it is due to rusted pipes that is causing a high level of iron but assured us that this is “safe.” It looks like someone urinated in the toilet before we use it.
Will they not fix this? Why haven’t they fixed this?

2024.05.17 08:37 jamie_ann88 Myotoxins in home post rectification of issue under house

We had a drainage issue under the house we moved into. Initially, we thought the problem was with the bathrooms, so we renovated them. Then we found mould in the kitchen and renovated that too. Eventually, we discovered standing water under the house, specifically under the main bedroom and study.
It took us a while to determine that the water was due to a drainage issue. Whenever it rained, water would run along the foundation to the lowset point (under the study). We have since solved this issue, and there is no longer water running under the house. Additionally, we installed subfloor vents and a larger extraction fan for a few months to dry out the area.
The problem now is that the main bedroom and study still seem to be affected by mycotoxins, mould, or trapped smells. There are definitely no other water damage in the walls/roof space etc
Does anyone have any ideas on what to do next so we can finally move into the master bedroom? We've lived here for over two years and still haven't been able to move our stuff into either of those rooms. At its peak, the smell was like a strong chemical/cat urine odour. While this has diminished, we are still reacting when we spend time in those rooms.
Ozone ???
Edit: we have cleaned with HEPA vacuum and vinegar and replaced carpet too.

2024.05.17 08:37 AlexStocks What's new in PikiwiDB(Pika) v3.5.4

The PikiwiDB (Pika) community is proud to announce the release of our latest v3.5.4 stable production-ready version.
v3.5.4 addresses historical bugs and optimizes some lingering issues of PikiwiDB (Pika), aiming to create a highly stable version. The key optimizations in this release include support for dynamically adjusting rate-limiting parameters, enhanced observability metrics for PikiwiDB (Pika), and disk I/O rate-limiting support for both read and write limitations.
  1. New Features
Starting from version v3.5.0, the PikiwiDB (Pika) service has abandoned the logic of using the original rsync tool through a subprocess for master-slave full synchronization and has implemented a new full synchronization logic internally in PikiwiDB (Pika) in a threaded manner [referred to as the rsync thread] to avoid master-slave synchronization issues caused by uncontrollable external processes. According to the extensive online cluster operation and maintenance experience of 360's internal Pika, during the full synchronization process of PikiwiDB (Pika) master and slave, if adverse external factors such as network fluctuations or hardware failures (such as network card rate mismatch caused by network card speed reduction) occur, it may cause continuous timeout of rsync thread requests (the built-in rsync module of PikiwiDB (Pika) is used for file transfer during the full synchronization phase), and the packets issued by timeout retries may cause greater network channel burden. At this time, for operation and maintenance personnel, if they can dynamically adjust the timeout time of rsync requests and the upper limit of rsync transmission rate, it means not only further refining the control granularity of the full synchronization phase but also greatly reducing the difficulty of operation and maintenance in this scenario.
Key PR:
https://github.com/OpenAtomFoundation/pika/pull/2633
PikiwiDB (Pika) collects data through the Info command to Pika-Exporter and displays it on the Grafana interface. Currently, some data is not displayed on the interface, such as the number of keys. This time, the result of executing `info keyspace` is displayed on the monitoring interface, and users can view the storage scale through this metric.
Key PR:
https://github.com/OpenAtomFoundation/pika/pull/2603
Starting from version 3.5.0, the PikiwiDB (Pika) service can adjust the `rate-limit` parameter to achieve write rate-limiting, preventing heavy disk I/O that can cause the service to be unavailable or block the binlog when the network card quality is not high. According to the operation and maintenance experience of 360's internal Pika online large-scale cluster, it is also necessary to limit the reading of instances when the network card of the PikiwiDB (Pika) instance is poor. This modification supports reading and writing rate-limiting, with the default being write rate-limiting. The `rate-limiter-mode` in the config configuration can be set to read rate-limiting or simultaneous read and write rate-limiting.

2024.05.17 08:37 sweatpants_on_my_bed 9 months with molluscum, 22F

hey everyone! i have really mentally struggled the last 9 months since i was initially infected. i won’t be holding back at all in the post, because even though this is gross, i really hope it might help someone and even help me to share my story. upon my first outbreak in august 2023, i had to visit 3 different doctors before i actually received a proper diagnosis. first doctor thought it was herpes, second thought it was bad razor burn, and finally the third took me seriously and confirmed that it was neither. 3 full STD panels that all tested urine, blood, and direct swabs were completely negative, which is what finally resulted in my diagnosis of molluscum contagiosum (MC). additionally, i developed and tested positive for awful bacterial vaginosis (BV) upon the time of my infection as well.
my first outbreak was mainly all in the same area, clustered in the fold of my bikini line on my right side. because the area rubbed so much as i walked around, the bumps were basically rubbed raw, which is what i believe caused them to spread. i don’t have any bumps in that area now, but i do now have 3 right by my vulva and one on my anus, all of which have been there pretty much this whole time. i also have one at the bottom of my right butt cheek that is pretty new—appeared maybe a month and a half ago.
my first doctor prescribed me valacyclovir pills, but only 2 weeks worth, and they did not affect the appearance of the bumps at all. he also prescribed me metrinidazole vaginal gel for the BV, which seemed to work initially in at least flushing out the BV infection. however, since my MC infection, i have on and off had BV virtually the entire time, with very strange discharge. the discharge ranges from grayish to neon yellow, is extremely thick, sticky, and clumpy, and it smells not necessarily awful but not healthy if that makes sense. the potency of the smell fluctuates, where some days it has no scent, and other days i can smell it through my pants (can’t believe i’m admitting this online😭). for the BV, i have also tried honeypot brand boric acid capsules that are inserted into the vagina and left overnight. the capsules work to clear the BV temporarily, but it still returns, likely going hand in hand with my molluscum infection. my third doctor that actually diagnosed me provided me with mupirocin ointment to apply to the bumps daily. i was extremely diligent with applying the ointment multiple times daily with clean hands and everything. however, after it did nothing to help for 3 months, i have become more lax with the application, only applying it once a day to no avail.
i will also admit, i have not taken the best care of myself since the initial infection. this last year was my senior year of college, and i have also been working full time and just trying to scrape by. my sleep schedule is non existent especially with some of my shifts only having a 6 hour gap between them, lol. i have felt so ashamed of myself and just hoping the bumps will go away, even though i know that isn’t logical. i have hardly had time to devote to treatment anyway, with my most recent doctors appointment being in november. i definitely entered a state of denial for a while as well where i almost forgot i had the bumps.
now that i have graduated college, i know that i can’t allow myself to live like this anymore. i have read many of the posts in this thread and am so inspired by everyone’s patience and risillience with dealing with this. as a first step, i have started women’s multivitamin supplements to ensure that i am getting 100% of my daily value of vitamin C, zinc, and etc to hopefully help my immune system. i also now have a gynecologist appointment scheduled for this monday, may 17th, to final face my fears and address this again. i plan to update following the appointment, of course.
in addition to just wanting to share my story, i would also like to ask if anyone reading this has advice for treatment strategies and for talking to my doctor. i want to be as thorough as possible with my appointment, because as someone with a bit of ✨ trauma ✨, it is really mentally taxing for me to keep having to show doctor after doctor my vagina. if anyone knows of specific treatment options i should ask about, i would love to hear it. also, if anyone knows about a correlation between MC and BV, i would be really interested to hear about that as well.
thank you so much you guys. to anyone who is struggling with this, you are not alone. you deserve to get better and you WILL get better💛

2024.05.17 08:29 dghairmena Why do some tape-in hair extensions fall out after installation?

It seems to me that
Some tape-in hair extensions fall out after installation due to several reasons
One of the most common, using poor-quality adhesive that can result in weak bonds that don't hold well.
Improper application techniques can cause the extensions to not adhere correctly to the natural hair.
Not following proper aftercare instructions, such as using the wrong hair products or over-washing, can weaken the adhesive.
Frequent heat styling tools can damage the adhesive, causing the extensions to come loose.
As natural hair grows, the extensions can shift and loosen, leading to eventual falling out.
Excess oil can break down the adhesive bond, causing the extensions to slip out.

2024.05.17 08:06 ExplanationLarge7558 Blood sugar

Blood sugar
Blood sugar, or blood glucose, is the concentration of glucose present in the blood. It is a critical aspect of metabolic homeostasis, maintained by the body's intricate regulatory mechanisms. Here are some key points about blood sugar:
Normal Levels:
Fasting blood sugar levels should be between 70 and 99 mg/dL. Levels between 100 and 125 mg/dL indicate prediabetes. Levels of 126 mg/dL or higher suggest diabetes. Regulation: Blood sugar is regulated by hormones such as insulin and glucagon. Insulin lowers blood glucose by promoting its uptake into cells, while glucagon raises blood glucose by signaling the liver to release stored glucose.
Hyperglycemia: This condition occurs when blood sugar levels are too high, often due to insufficient insulin production or insulin resistance, as seen in diabetes. Symptoms may include increased thirst, frequent urination, fatigue, and blurred vision.
Hypoglycemia: This condition occurs when blood sugar levels are too low, which can happen due to excessive insulin, missed meals, or strenuous exercise. Symptoms include shakiness, sweating, confusion, and in severe cases, loss of consciousness.
Monitoring: People with diabetes often need to monitor their blood sugar levels regularly using blood glucose meters or continuous glucose monitors (CGMs) to manage their condition effectively.
Diet and Lifestyle: Managing blood sugar involves a balanced diet, regular physical activity, maintaining a healthy weight, and in some cases, medication. Foods with a low glycemic index (GI) can help maintain stable blood sugar levels.
Understanding and maintaining proper blood sugar levels is crucial for overall health, especially for individuals with diabetes or those at risk of developing the condition.

2024.05.17 08:06 Hamiltonfan25 Unpopular Opinion: Bad Friend Characters Like Dodie From As Told By Ginger and Dijonay From Proud Family Both Have Valid Reasons for Character Flaws

Don’t get me wrong, both of these girls are AWFUL friends and Ginger and Penny absolutely deserves better (Penny especially, cause her whole friend group is toxic…at least Ginger has Macie), however, I think both these characters have valid reasons for being the way they are and deserve more slack than they are given.
First and most important point, both of these girls are young teenagers. They are still very much trying to figure themselves and the world out and they have ample time and space to grow and mature and become better as time goes on if they put forth the effort. Really, these characters more closely resemble average teen girls more than the protagonist of their respective series.
Second off, they both come from HORRIBLE home situations. Dodie’s mother is a grown up mean girl who makes her family and their friends walk on eggshells around her. She also stabbed her own daughter in the back in the name of her own popularity…we don’t have to wonder where Dodie gets her “anything to be cool” attitude. Dodie also has plenty of moments when she’s a supportive and caring friend to Ginger and Macie. She’s far from perfect, but I do think she has the potential to at least be better than what she came from.
Dijonay meanwhile has to serve as a near constant caregiver to TEN SIBLINGS. We almost never see her parents and when we do they are having her watch all the kids. Yeah, Penny had to watch her little siblings a lot too, but she only had 2 while Dijonay has ten. It’s also made clear that the economic status between Penny and Dijonay is wildly different. It does NOT give Dijonay the right to mistreat Penny by any stretch of the imagination, but it does give some credence to it. Also, LaCieniga was easily Penny’s most toxic friend, and her home life was substantially better.
I’ll say one more time that neither of these girls are saints, or even good, but I do think you have to account for their situations and backgrounds. I know lots of cartoon fans love Helga from Hey Arnold, and she has plenty of toxic traits/moments too, but she gets a frequent pass due to her home life and I think these girls also deserve that occasional consideration.

2024.05.17 08:05 R6Gamer How's Tomball holding up after this storm?

I just bought a house in Tomball. Lakewood Grove or 77377 zip code to be exact. Haven't moved into it yet and in the last two weeks after purchase, I've already heard about bad rains that caused flash floods and now this storm. Holy crap what did I just get myself into lol. I am assuming y'all's power may be out. Any damage to homes or businesses. What's the overall outlook like for the area? I seriously hope all are safe.

2024.05.17 08:05 Active_Access_4850 question about pesticides

i have done organic the last two years, i gave up on broccoli type vegetables as the the bugs always take it. i've read plenty on chilli garlic type concoctions, but those really need to be done frequently to keep them away and may cause burning if not done properly. i'm what you call a lazy gardener, i put great effort at the beginning and want the garden to take care of itself, mostly. i've decided to try to attract wasps / ladybugs and added some sacrificial radishes around, but i am a little late at planting them as the bugs are already eating my crops. spider mites and cabbage worms plus at least one slug so far and i am sure more are on the way. going to plant some alyssum, got a bulk order, wont arrive for a few days now, i have a insecticide with spinosad in it that claims *organic* but i dont feel easy about calling it organic. spinosad i was told lasts longer than bt so thats perfect in my opinion, however that probably means its more *chemically induced* *trying to sound smart here* my garden is still in the very early stages but not in the beginning either. if i use this insecticide for maybe a month or so while the others i just mentioned grow up and then i cut off all insecticide before the fruiting stage. nevermind that it is *labeled organic* would you still consider it organic? or am i just splitting hairs? will the insecticide get absorbed by the plants leaves before fruiting and effect the fruit when it starts developing?

2024.05.17 08:02 LeeCloud27 The Life of Hakurei - The Lonesome Drunken Oni - Part 6

Rain continued to pour outside Hakurei Shrine, drenching everything from the narrow stone slab walkway, creating miniscule rivulets along the cracks, to the komainu statues standing side-by-side on opposite ends of the torii gate, glistening from all the raindrops, with tiny streams coming from their eyes.
Inside, Marisa and Rin continued to lie around, boredom lingering in the air and nothing to entertain themselves save for a select few belongings and things to fidget with. Marisa finished the book she read and switched to tuning her mini-hakkero to ensure it worked at maximum proficiency. Rin on the other hand stopped playing her erhu and bided her time messing with the cherry ornaments on the sides of her head.
Silence remained, the only sound was the pattering drops of rain on the sturdy roof above. Neither one of the two blondes spoke, let alone look at the other. After what felt like hours Rin broke the peace with a question, one that’s been on her mind for sometime.
“Hey, Marisa?”
“What?” Marisa looked up and turned her head over to Rin with a curious face.
“I’ve been wondering, but why do you live in the Forest of Magic?” Rin asked. The question itself, though innocent, took Marisa by surprise.
“What do you mean?” Marisa replied with some intriguement.
“I mean, from what I know that place is considered dangerous by most of the village because of youkai and poisonous plants that grow there, yet you live there by yourself, why?”
“Why not?” Marisa said in a more careless tone. “The forest has plenty of space to practice my magic. And being home to most of the materials I need to craft potions and perform spells it’s obvious why I live there. Sure, my place is a bit of a mess, and the occasional hallucinogenic fog can be troublesome, but once you overlook that it’s a great place to be.”
Rin was concerned when Marisa said ‘hallucinogenic fog’, but it wasn’t enough to distract her from her follow-up question, “But isn’t it lonely living by yourself?”
“A little. But I have Alice who lives close by, and even Kourin who I occasionally visit whenever I need something. And I always got this place here with Reimu.”
“But what about your family, don’t you miss them?”
Marisa's expression swiftly transitioned from a casual smirk to a grimace of distress as she halted her fiddling with the intricate mini-hakkero. Her gaze remained fixed on Rin for a prolonged moment, the weight of unspoken thoughts evident in her eyes. Finally, breaking the silence, she uttered in a strained voice, “I don’t want to talk about it.”
Rin, perplexed by her sudden reticence, probed gently, "How come?"
“I just don’t, that’s all.” Marisa said with the intent on cutting the conversation short, but Rin wasn’t done asking.
“But they surely miss you, don't they? Don’t you have a mom or dad who’d want to see you? What about siblings, or other relatives? I mean, your last name is-”
I said I don’t want to talk about it!” Marisa snapped at Rin, causing the white-red dressed girl to jump back a little from surprise. She didn’t expect Marisa to yell at her.
“U-Um…Sorry.” Rin said. “I didn’t realize the topic would be sensitive.” She looked down, now feeling melancholic. Marisa began feeling regretful seeing Rin’s expression.
“No, it’s fine. I’m sorry for yelling.” Marisa said. “I just don't like to talk about my family. It’s personal.”
“I see.” Rin said. “Again, I’m sorry.”
Another moment of silence; the rain outside acting as ambience. Marisa went back to fiddle with her device, yet couldn’t help but think about how Rin was feeling. She glanced over at her, noticing her lost in thought. With a hint of guilt she placed her item down and turned her attention back to Rin.
“Hey, you still wanna talk?” Marisa asked.
Rin looked over at Marisa, “Um, no it’s fine. Really.”
“No, I insist. You look like the topic’s been in your mind for a while now. I’m okay talking about it as long it doesn’t involve my family.”
Rin’s eyes traced the corners of a wall before she took a deep breath.
“It’s just…I miss my father. I miss having him around, helping him with work, laughing at the stupid puns he makes about flowers. One such pun he made was when he said he originally wanted to name me ‘Hana’ because I always make people bloom with joy when I appear. Haha…God that was a very stupid joke.”
“Oh, you must’ve been very close to your father.” Marisa said with a downtone in her voice.
“We were. My mom died when I was very small, I can’t remember anything about her; it was always just me and my dad. But, now he’s gone, along with everyone who supposedly doesn't remember me. From all the people my dad helped to the few friends I had. They all just forgot, all the memories of me gone from their lives as though my role didn’t matter to the overall public. I just wish I could know why, why everyone forgot, why I was removed from their history.”
“...I can relate.”
Rin looked at Marisa, a bit surprised by what she said.
“You can?”
“Yeah. I used to have a mother too.” Marisa said, making Rin’s eyes widen while she continued, “She was a strange person. She always went on and on about trying to rule over humanity, talking over the world, plunging everything into chaos and anarchy.”
“Huh?” Rin now was a bit confused, but Marisa only continued to explain.
“But despite all of that, she took care of me. When she wasn’t busy striving for world domination or bothering Reimu at her shrine, she made sure I was okay. She made me food and taught me how to cook, she cleaned my house and taught me how to clean (though I don’t do a good job at that), and of course she taught me everything she knew about the magical arts and its many spells. She was the one who inspired me to pursue magic, to always push myself to be the best I could be, better than any other magician to have ever existed. If it wasn’t for her, I’d probably still be a whiny child who ran away from home instead of who I am today.”
“What?” Rin was more confused.
“I still think of her sometimes. I think about the last time I saw her during Vampire Incident. I still wish things didn’t turn out the way they did, maybe then we could still be together. She would be proud of where I am now.”
Marisa’s eyes began to water. She wiped them away and looked at Rin again.
“Sorry for going on a bit there. I never really had a chance to talk to anyone about Mima-sama like that for a while. Except with Alice.”
“Wait, wait…Who’s Mima? I thought you were talking about your mother.” Rin said.
“Oh…Well, it’s a bit complicated, you see-”
As Marisa was about to explain, the doors to the shrine barged open, bringing in a soaking wet Reimu holding someone in her arms. Marisa and Rin turned their heads over to her in visible confusion and concern.
“Reimu? Why are you wet? And…” Rin asked, looking at the person Reimu held in her arms, noticing the immense wound on her body. “Wait, isn’t that the girl from a few nights ago? What happened to her?” She asked with worry.
“Please, you have to help! I think she’s dying!” Reimu said with a crying voice.
Without a second of hesitation, Rin rushed to grab a first aid kit while Reimu placed the wounded Suika on the floor. She didn’t care if blood were to get on the mats, that didn’t matter at the moment. Marisa came over, taking her hat off and began pulling things out. In her hat contained small vials filled with colorful liquids, a bag of herbs, an assortment of mushrooms, and a mortar and pestle. She carefully selected what ingredients she needed after a quick analysis of the injury Suika received, then got to work.
“What are you doing?” Reimu asked.
“I’m making a medicine that should help heal the wound.” Marisa said.
“Mi…nako.” Suika raised a hand over at Reimu again. Reimu looked at her with continuous worry. Rin soon returned with the first aid kit and got down to Suika’s side. She pulled out the gauze and focused on wrapping the smaller injuries first before focusing on the big one. Marisa finished mixing the ingredients together into a greenish paste. She brought it over to the large wound on her chest and began spreading it over softly. Suika winced, inhaling sharply while her hands clenched tightly. Reimu placed a hand on one of her hands, speaking to her in a soft yet hurried tone.
“It’ll be okay. Just hang on, alright?”
Suika looked at Reimu, her eyes already beginning to drift off as her breathing slowed. She spoke Minako’s name again, a name with deep meaning to her and Reimu. Then, her eyes shut, and her mind went blank.

2024.05.17 08:00 princessedaisy Would you choose euthanasia in this scenario, and if yes, how can I make my dog more comfortable leading up to his final days?

Our eleven year old lab has a non-healing wound on his upper front leg, as a result of a softball-sized soft tissue sarcoma that is causing his leg to become necrotic. The only reason we allowed the sarcoma to get to this point is because our previous vet had misdiagnosed it as a lipoma for over a year. We only found out it was a sarcoma when we moved recently and established him with a new vet, who wanted to do a punch biopsy on it (our previous vet had only done needle aspirations). Despite us following all the care instructions, the site of the punch biopsy became infected and led to the formation of the non-healing wound. The infection (which had formed an abcess) had to be drained and was cleared up with antibiotics, but we've been told the wound will never fully heal. After two weeks, it is still fully open and seeping fluid every day. We have to change his bandage every day (sometimes we can make it every other day) and he has to wear a cone 24/7.
We have spoken to our vet about potentially amputating his leg, and also got a second opinion from a different vet. They both say they don't feel comfortable performing an amputation, because due to the location and progression of the tumor, they are worried the amputation site will not heal properly. They also don't want to try to remove or de-bulk the tumor, for the same reasons.
The biggest issue right now is the daily dressing and bandage changing. The first two days, we had our vet change and rewrap it, but they (and the other vets in the area) charge nearly $100 for every bandage change. That would add up to $3,000 a month just for bandage changes. We simply cannot afford that. We couldn't afford it even if it was half that price. So, I asked our vet to show me how to do it, and my fiancé and I have been changing it ever since, with help from my mom who is a nurse. We've been doing it exactly as the vet instructed, even using the same materials, but we're stuck in a losing situation. If we wrap the bandage too loosely, it ends up coming off within half a day (or less), but if we wrap it too tightly, his ankle and paw swell up to 2-3 times their normal size. I feel so bad for him because it looks so uncomfortable. He whines constantly. We also know it is only a matter of time before his leg gets infected again.
That being said, he is still eating fine (he stopped eating when the infection was really bad, but has since regained his appetite). He wags his tail, asks for walks, tries to jump up, and acts happy a lot of the time (despite his frequent whining).
My fiancé thinks that when/if his leg gets infected again, we should have him put to sleep. But I feel terrible to do that when he still seems to be in such good spirits! I said when it gets infected again, we could try more antibiotics, but he says we can't have him on antibiotics for the rest of his life. I know my fiancé loves him as much as I do and just wants to do what he thinks is best, but I'm not sure if it is the best thing.
As vets, what would you do in this situation? If it is true that he probably should be euthanized soon, how can I make his last days/weeks/months more comfortable?

Traveling overseas might be a stimulating activity, but how to reduce data usage on these trips remains a constant question. No matter what your purpose is for visiting a new country, whether you are looking for a new destination to move to or exploring unknown territories just for a vacation, maintaining communications with your friends and family is the most important thing. That makes using data more significant when you are abroad.
In this detailed guide, we will learn about valuable tools and techniques, including using an eSIM to stop data use.
Why is My Phone Using So Much Data All of a Sudden?
Your data usage can increase due to many factors. It includes disproportionate phone activity, internet traffic congestion, or an app bug. Here are some common factors to consider:
1. Background Apps
Some apps may be sustaining themselves with data behind the curtains without you realizing it. To find out which apps use your data heavily, go to your phone settings and disable the background data usage for the ones that use it in surplus amounts.
2. Automatic Updates
If you check your phone or app, it might be set to update data automatically when using carrier data. This can use excessive data and might not be under user control, Disable automatic downloading. Configure your device to update applications from WiFi/bargil alone.
3. Streaming Services
Watching movies, music, or similar digital multimedia content more often may cause more data consumption. Change your apps' data usage settings to low resolution or bitrate for streaming videos. Use your app's settings to set the data limit for your consumed data.
4. Cloud Services
Cloud backup services, picture sync, and data installation as files may involve the transfer of data background without your knowledge. Look through your cloud storage parameters and switch off immediate synchronization. Schedule the upload when you are connected to the WiFi network.
5. Location Services
Certain apps, including maps, weather, and social media applications, utilize geolocation services. These might require data to be downloaded to access location-based information. Turn location services off for apps that do not need them or customize the location settings so that they can only use WiFi or GPS.
6. Malware or Viruses
Critical information, such as passwords or secret data, may run amok on your device. You may need to determine if malicious software or apps have been installed. Ensure you do a thorough malware scan on your device built by trusted antivirus programs. It will detect and clean any possible malware that could be present on your gadget.
7. Network Issues
Switching between cellular and WiFi networks frequently may cause your phone to use more data, as it always attempts to maintain a satisfactory connection. In such cases, go for a more reliable network like an eSIM global.

8. Software Updates
Sometimes, applications are automatically downloaded in the background, such as OS updates or application updates that use your data. You might not be aware of that. Check for any updates on standby and download them when connected to WiFi.
Understanding Data Usage Abroad
Initially, paying enough attention to reducing data usage is necessary before discovering ways to cut it. Generally, when your smartphone or connected devices operate in a foreign area, they usually try to connect to local cellular networks or use roaming services provided by their provider. Thus, each action, like browsing, sending mail, and using an app, becomes an exercise in using more data.
1. Disable Data Roaming and use an eSIM
Registering data roaming on your device is a highly effective tactic to save data overseas. Roaming data will open the field for your devices to play with foreign cellular networks. But it might charge you a fortune. With international eSIMs, you can disable your cellphone settings, and it remains disconnected from foreign networks for data use. Also, you may use an international eSIM abroad to avoid unexpected roaming charges. All you need to do is download the eSIM app and start using it. Additionally, eSIM plans are cost-effective and always provide an uninterrupted connection.
2. Connect to WiFi Networks
Maximize WiFi network usage at all times, wherever available, to browse the internet alternatively. In this way, the data used will remain minimal. Most hotels, cafes, bars, and public areas provide free WiFi for those using the services. Make the most out of these networks to browse the web, check emails, or use apps in completely free-of-charge mode. While that connection may be helpful for users, you are advised to be cautious when joining public WiFi networks, as they may not always be safe. A VPN might be an excellent option to secure your online life when accessing sensitive information over public WiFi.
3. Earth the Results and Have Access to These Offline
You should download offline maps and have certain location apps, such as Google Maps or Maps.me, before you travel to a different country. You can download maps of the particular region, town, or area you want to roam around while offline. This eliminates the need for continual connectivity to the internet for navigation purposes. Also, most travel and translation apps of the offline variety now offer language translations and currency conversions. Some of them cannot be done while outside WiFi areas.
4. Limit Background Data Usage
To reduce background data consumption, check your accounts and check if any apps use data in the background. Find setups to set data limits for non-vital apps. You can also shut off automatic app updates and cloud synchronization when traveling.
5. Use Email Platforms and Instant Messaging Apps
Email and messaging apps with instant messaging included are both data demanders. They top the chart on the most data-consuming apps on smartphones. To minimize data needs, you can configure mailing apps that only sync once connected to WiFi or when the signal is strong enough. Besides that, you can reduce the size of email attachments. Opt for text-only email formats in all cases, if required, to cut down data size even more. Apps like WhatsApp or Telegram are now data-efficient.
6. Compress Data and Make the Data Saving mode
There are many mobile browsers and data-saving mobile applications that use less data. They have the characteristics to compress data to reduce their bandwidth usage. Find a data compression or a data saver mode in your browser's data usage settings. It lightens up web pages and images and minimizes data usage while browsing the Internet, such as using files and optimizing apps that optimize data usage by compressing and caching the contents.

7. Be Able to Influent and Track Data Usage
Know your data consumption figure by consistently checking and keeping track of your data usage statistics. Nowadays, most smartphones provide you with apps, services, and reports. It shows which apps consumed more data and how much data consumption was done during the billing cycle. You can access your data usage by logging through data-hungry apps. Adjust your data use habits to keep you within your data allowance.
International travel sometimes comes with roaming data charges, which can be extremely expensive. But don't worry! This blog answers all your queries regarding how to reduce data usage.
Eventually, using an international e-SIM can eventually provide a good and relatively inexpensive Internet connection. Zetexa is a reliable e-SIM provider; its ZetSIM app is downloadable from Google Playstore and Appstore. It benefits global travelers across 180+ Countries. So, it is time to plan your next trip with solid strategies for reducing data usage.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. How can I lessen the data usage on my phone?
There are many ways to reduce your smartphone's data consumption. Turn off apps' background data, connect the phone to WiFi whenever it is available, and use the smartphone's data-saving mode. It would be better if you had an eSIM connection.
2. Should I shut off background data for all apps or a selected few based on their resource usage?
Disabling background data for all applications might result in data savings. However, it is likely to impair the operation of several particular applications, such as email and messaging. You can turn off background data for apps that run on a background and use data abundantly.
3. When looking for ways to get the most out of my data, should I go for a VPN or not?
VPNs may increase data usage. Nevertheless, they provide privacy and security. Use a VPN if necessary to overcome security concerns, yet be aware that the amount of data used may not be minimized.
