LESSON 153. In my defenselessness my safety lies.
You who feel threatened by this changing world, its twists of fortune and its bitter jests, its brief relationships and all the “gifts” it merely lends to take away again; attend this lesson well. The world provides no safety. It is rooted in attack, and all its “gifts” of seeming safety are illusory deceptions. It attacks, and then attacks again. No peace of mind is possible where danger threatens thus. The world gives rise but to defensiveness. For threat brings anger, anger makes attack seem reasonable, honestly provoked, and righteous in the name of self-defense. Yet is defensiveness a double threat. For it attests to weakness, and sets up a system of defense that cannot work. Now are the weak still further undermined, for there is treachery without and still a greater treachery within. The mind is now confused, and knows not where to turn to find escape from its imaginings.
It is as if a circle held it fast, wherein another circle bound it and another one in that, until escape no longer can be hoped for nor obtained. Attack, defense; defense, attack, become the circles of the hours and the days that bind the mind in heavy bands of steel with iron overlaid, returning but to start again. There seems to be no break nor ending in the ever-tightening grip of the imprisonment upon the mind.
Defenses are the costliest of all the prices which the ego would exact. In them lies madness in a form so grim that hope of sanity seems but to be an idle dream, beyond the possible. The sense of threat the world encourages is so much deeper, and so far beyond the frenzy and intensity of which you can conceive, that you have no idea of all the devastation it has wrought.
You are its slave. You know not what you do, in fear of it. You do not understand how much you have been made to sacrifice, who feel its iron grip upon your heart. You do not realize what you have done to sabotage the holy peace of God by your defensiveness. For you behold the Son of God as but a victim to attack by fantasies, by dreams, and by illusions he has made; yet helpless in their presence, needful only of defense by still more fantasies, and dreams by which illusions of his safety comfort him.
Defenselessness is strength. It testifies to recognition of the Christ in you. Perhaps you will recall the text maintains that choice is always made between Christ’s strength and your own weakness, seen apart from Him. Defenselessness can never be attacked, because it recognizes strength so great attack is folly, or a silly game a tired child might play, when he becomes too sleepy to remember what he wants.
Defensiveness is weakness. It proclaims you have denied the Christ and come to fear His Father’s anger. What can save you now from your delusion of an angry god, whose fearful image you believe you see at work in all the evils of the world? What but illusions could defend you now, when it is but illusions that you fight?
We will not play such childish games today. For our true purpose is to save the world, and we would not exchange for foolishness the endless joy our function offers us. We would not let our happiness slip by because a fragment of a senseless dream happened to cross our minds, and we mistook the figures in it for the Son of God; its tiny instant for eternity.
We look past dreams today, and recognize that we need no defense because we are created unassailable, without all thought or wish or dream in which attack has any meaning. Now we cannot fear, for we have left all fearful thoughts behind. And in defenselessness we stand secure, serenely certain of our safety now, sure of salvation; sure we will fulfill our chosen purpose, as our ministry extends its holy blessing through the world.
Be still a moment, and in silence think how holy is your purpose, how secure you rest, untouchable within its light. God’s ministers have chosen that the truth be with them. Who is holier than they? Who could be surer that his happiness is fully guaranteed? And who could be more mightily protected? What defense could possibly be needed by the ones who are among the chosen ones of God, by His election and their own as well?
It is the function of God’s ministers to help their brothers choose as they have done. God has elected all, but few have come to realize His Will is but their own. And while you fail to teach what you have learned, salvation waits and darkness holds the world in grim imprisonment. Nor will you learn that light has come to you, and your escape has been accomplished. For you will not see the light, until you offer it to all your brothers. As they take it from your hands, so will you recognize it as your own.
Salvation can be thought of as a game that happy children play. It was designed by One Who loves His children, and Who would replace their fearful toys with joyous games, which teach them that the game of fear is gone. His game instructs in happiness because there is no loser. Everyone who plays must win, and in his winning is the gain to everyone ensured. The game of fear is gladly laid aside, when children come to see the benefits salvation brings.
You who have played that you are lost to hope, abandoned by your Father, left alone in terror in a fearful world made mad by sin and guilt; be happy now. That game is over. Now a quiet time has come, in which we put away the toys of guilt, and lock our quaint and childish thoughts of sin forever from the pure and holy minds of Heaven’s children and the Son of God.
We pause but for a moment more, to play our final, happy game upon this earth. And then we go to take our rightful place where truth abides and games are meaningless. So is the story ended. Let this day bring the last chapter closer to the world, that everyone may learn the tale he reads of terrifying destiny, defeat of all his hopes, his pitiful defense against a vengeance he can not escape, is but his own deluded fantasy. God’s ministers have come to waken him from the dark dreams this story has evoked in his confused, bewildered memory of this distorted tale. God’s Son can smile at last, on learning that it is not true.
Today we practice in a form we will maintain for quite a while. We will begin each day by giving our attention to the daily thought as long as possible. Five minutes now becomes the least we give to preparation for a day in which salvation is the only goal we have. Ten would be better; fifteen better still. And as distraction ceases to arise to turn us from our purpose, we will find that half an hour is too short a time to spend with God. Nor will we willingly give less at night, in gratitude and joy.
Each hour adds to our increasing peace, as we remember to be faithful to the Will we share with God. At times, perhaps, a minute, even less, will be the most that we can offer as the hour strikes. Sometimes we will forget. At other times the business of the world will close on us, and we will be unable to withdraw a little while, and turn our thoughts to God.
Yet when we can, we will observe our trust as ministers of God, in hourly remembrance of our mission and His Love. And we will quietly sit by and wait on Him and listen to His Voice, and learn what He would have us do the hour that is yet to come; while thanking Him for all the gifts He gave us in the one gone by.
In time, with practice, you will never cease to think of Him, and hear His loving Voice guiding your footsteps into quiet ways, where you will walk in true defenselessness. For you will know that Heaven goes with you. Nor would you keep your mind away from Him a moment, even though your time is spent in offering salvation to the world. Think you He will not make this possible, for you who chose to carry out His plan for the salvation of the world and yours?
Today our theme is our defenselessness. We clothe ourselves in it, as we prepare to meet the day. We rise up strong in Christ, and let our weakness disappear, as we remember that His strength abides in us. We will remind ourselves that He remains beside us through the day, and never leaves our weakness unsupported by His strength. We call upon His strength each time we feel the threat of our defenses undermine our certainty of purpose. We will pause a moment, as He tells us, “I am here.”
Your practicing will now begin to take the earnestness of love, to help you keep your mind from wandering from its intent. Be not afraid nor timid. There can be no doubt that you will reach your final goal. The ministers of God can never fail, because the love and strength and peace that shine from them to all their brothers come from Him. These are His gifts to you. Defenselessness is all you need to give Him in return. You lay aside but what was never real, to look on Christ and see His sinlessness.

Last week, I visited Oahu and rode the Skyline rail from West Loch to the stadium, here is my review.
The good:

• It was fast, it was clean, and it was safe.
  
• The fare machines worked and I got my ticket easily (except it didn't say it did not give cash change, luckily it put the remainder on the card).
  
• The platforms look good, there are nice views everywhere, and the front of the (driverless) train is open to passengers with a big window.
  
• When I got off the train, there was a bus going downtown and to Waikiki right away. The bus was agonizingly slow compared to the train, but the transfer was well planned and executed.
  

The bad:

• The elevated stations are ungainly, almost ugly. I'm not for spending millions more on architectural gems, but the random hanging walkways and oveunder passes stick out badly.
  
• I'm not going to go into the politics and logistics of station locations, but it could've been better.
  
• At "Hō'ae'ae" (aka West Loch) station, there was a line map near the entrance that showed a solid line (completed segment) all the way to "Kahauiki" (aka Kahili transit center). Needless to say, I was very confused about the last train stopping at Hālawa, and I almost didn't get on until I asked an agent.
  

And the ugly:

• Closes early: I think of Honolulu as a big city, and the buses run until midnight. I left at 6pm, walked a over a mile, and was very surprised/lucky to catch the last city-bound train at 7pm. When it runs downtown, it better not have commuter hours only.
  
• Naming: I thought this was minor at first, but as I write this, I realize that saying "I can't wait until the rail extends past Hālawa" means nothing to most people. I get it, ōleleo won't ever flourish if everyone keeps saying "Stadium", but they even gave new names to places that already had Hawaiian names. This just seems confusing. And on top of that, even though I don't speak Hawaiian, to me the automated voice pronunciation of the stop names seemed off.
  
• Rails not straight: for a brand new line, this is absolutely inexcusable. The train lurches side to side makeing an uncomfortable ride, and when I looked down the track from the front of the train, I could see wavy rails. I've ridden trains in Europe, and the coolest thing about them is they are smooth and comfortable. I could understand if the line was 50 years old like BART in the Bay Area, or had grade crossings and lots of switches. But a brand new, dedicated and elevated rail line should be smooth as butter. There better be operating parameters and performance guarantees in the contracts so that this can be fixed by the manufacturer.
  

All that said, I'm not against the rail, I want it to succeed, and I think it will when it goes to Kālia (Ala Moana). But they still need to use common sense when designing and implementing it.

But the guy ended up being very sweet and we ended up having long conversations and I was honestly happy and excited because I have a chill manager and now he's also a friend.
Then he first called me outside work last week and I was like wow so he actually considers me a friend to call casually but then it got frequent and he was calling me everyday to talk. He's honestly very easy to talk to and we have great conversations but I was starting to feel a little off.
The biggest red flag for me was when he said no one at work knows that we're friends and if they ask about me he just talks as though he doesn't know me and just says I work well etc. Now I was thinking he's just as friendly with everyone at work and talks to all of them so this is just normal but I was shocked to know I was the only one and he said it like i keep my work and personal life seperate and didn't expect to find friends here but then you came along. And then he asked if we could meet since he's in town and my dumbass said yes. I didn't feel comfortable the entire time. He did nothing wrong but it just felt off and i also kept thinking what will the people around be thinking.
I've kinda tired to avoid the frequent calls saying I have exams (In my last year or college) but again yesterday we spoke and he trauma dumped on me and also mentioned some things he said he's never told anyone or his mum is the only one who knows of this plan or thing that happened and then he's telling me. And he said thanks for listening he felt heard and not alone and that I'm really mature for my age and he was dumb at 21 etc etc. And honestly idk if I overthinking this because he hasn't been anything but nice. He's not crossed boundaries or anything and I think if it was another 21 year old I might have not thought so much about it but the age gap is reallyyy making me question everything. Is this grooming? Should I avoid him? If so how because I'll still have have work calls with him regularly.
TLDR: M28 from work calls often, is close, has done nothing inappropriate but I'm afraid it might be grooming or am I overthinking this

Over the past few months, I've had the opportunity to try out C&G's Inside the Waistband Covert holster for my 1911. The first thing that struck me was how well-designed and comfortable it was. As someone who carries most of the day, the last thing I want is my holster to be uncomfortable or distracting.
One of the standout features was the solid locking retention. It gave me peace of mind, knowing my firearm was secure when I was on the move. The holster was also designed to fit most RMRed Dots on the market, which was a nice touch.
However, there were a couple of cons I noticed. First, the open bottom allowed for threaded barrels and compensators, but it could be a bit challenging to get a perfect fit for my specific firearm. Secondly, the 1.5-inch belt clip could be a bit snug for my thicker belt.
Overall, my experience with C&G's Covert holster has been mostly positive. The holster offers a comfortable and secure fit, and the craftsmanship is top-notch. While there were a few minor drawbacks, the pros definitely outweigh the cons.

I recently went through the interviews at Meta. Whilst I cannot share the exact questions they asked, I wanted to share my experience on a higher level to give everyone an idea what to look out for and also what the current situation is.
First off, the recruiter reached out to me in March and explained the open roles as well as expectations. She was extremely thorough and advised me to go for an IC track (E6). In the end, she set up a screen call for early April.
The screening went well. I believe I saw one of the questions on Leetcode a while ago, but not the other. Either way, I had to find the solutions myself and managed to do so - but only one of them optimally. The second task required a few hints by the interviewer. Naturally, after the call, I was extremely nervous because I felt like I have not met the expectation of a "perfect" performance.
Thankfully, the feedback was positive. The recruiter told me that whilst the solution could have been slightly more efficient, the overall thinking, problem solving and collaboration with the interviewer made up for it. I therefore passed to the second round, which was scheduled for early May. At this point I was connected with another recruiter, who again was absolutely amazing at walking me through the process and providing me with guidance on how to prepare.
I followed her advice and to give myself 100% focus time on this went for a week to Spain to prepare for the onsite interviews (and get some sun in the process). It was a great decision because it allowed me to remain productive, without being distracted. My reading list included both System Design books my Alex Xu as well as other resources I was recommended, Cracking the Coding Interview, Hackerrank and Leetcode.
Unfortunately, I got a little bit unlucky. Neither of my system design interviews, nor any of my coding interviews were exactly like the ones I have seen before (at least I could not recall them). That said, preparing on leetcode and reading the books definitely allowed me to see the bigger picture. Thinking out loud, weighing up different solutions, proposing an idea and the backtracking to another, better idea I slowly zig-zagged my way to something that met the expectations. I believe to have solved 3 out of 4 tasks optimally, and one of them correctly but not optimally. This is a bit unfortunate because the one I could not solve well is a very popular Meta task as I found out later.
I was naturally very nervous after the interviews and also had some regrets. "Should I have memorised optimal solutions better?", "Should I have googled what popular Meta system design questions are?" etc. The fact that I was promised feedback within a week but received none made this worse.
Finally, 12 days post interview the recruiter called me back to say that... I passed. But they decided that E6 is a bit too much and so instead they believe I am an E5, citing my performance during the system design stage.
At this moment in time I am in the team matching stage in London, which by the sounds of it unfortunantely may take a while. This team matching step takes some momentum out of things. I'd like to celebrate the successful interview, but I can't really because the process isn't over yet, is it. Oh well, fingers crossed :)
If there is anything to take away from this, it is this:

1. You do not need to perform perfectly well. In fact, I would argue that some imperfection and some need to think and weigh up between different alternatives as well as engaging with the interviewer is good.
2. Do by all means read up on distributed systems and make sure you know the trades offs when it comes to important design choices like communication protocols and databases. I could have done better here, to be honest. Also, engage with the interviewer and try see the hints they're trying to make. One of my interviewers gave me a hint for the coding task I did not solve optimally, and I failed to register it.
3. Do by all means try and use the resources available, such as leetcode or anything else the recruiter recommends.
4. Finally, the process does not end with the full-loop. There is another hurdle to overcome, which is team-matching. I will report more on this as soon as I can.

Now it is about as fast and bulky overall as skeledirge instead of moreso. Hypothetically it might still be ubers since it is very similar to annihilape and has regenerator but I think this makes it look about as natural as official starters to some extent.

It's sig move is multiflame and it is a special fire rage fist for those Unaware. It has a movepool on par with skeledirge and also has fickle beam as well which I might remove. It gets earth power, recover, will o wisp, dragon pulse, Draco meteor, ect.
Now Pegasea. Out of all of these, this one is the most drastic change becoming a full on physical attacker and gaining a different signature move and hidden ability. The pre evolutions also change too.

Signature move: soaring maneuver which rather than a burning bulwark that creates Tailwind instead and can only be used when Tailwind isn't up, it is now a flying type physical contact move that is 90 base power, and 100 accuracy that deals 1/4 recoil and switches the user out.
Now it becomes a glass cannon even frailer than before despite higher bulk stats due to constant wave crash, brave bird, and soaring maneuver recoil but because of reckless, it deals high damage while also having good speed and pivoting. I like this mon's current competitive design as it is a little more interesting than skymin on crack.
Pokemon hope dex entry: Finally gaining the ability to fly, it soars at astonishing speeds above the seas. It can use its horn to fire water as several pressures and temperatures as a defense mechanism however it mostly charges into enemies. It bears a resemblance to the deceased pegasus of legend.
Pokemon despair dex: After taking flight, it soars at petrifying speeds, using a hit and return based strategy. It can cover itself with water to make these tackles more potent. It bears a striking resemblance to the soaring beast slain by a mighty hero.
Mega castform. While the ability is more broken than I thought, this pokemon's stat total is much lower than other Megas so I think it balances out to some extent. I'll change its stat spread anyways to both make it look more natural and for balance. For those that don't know, it's signature ability changes the form on weather like forecast but alsobchanges the weather if the user uses weather ball judging the type of weather based on damage. It changes the weather before dealing damage. This was considered broken due to hitting 9 types super effectively with one move.

Now it won't instawin every time against mega zard y and has a tougher time with some pokemon although it is still strong due to the ability which grants it 3 powerful stabs in one move slot.
Hope dex entry: a castform transformed from a powerful bond and mega stone, it now gains the capabilities of controlling the very weather that changes it due to the influx of mega energy.
Despair dex entry: This pokemon can cause untold destruction on cities due to its control over the weather, through drought, flood, or snowstorm when controlled by those willing to do so.
Finally we have armored falinks. I will now make this a cross gen evolution and get rid of its mega. I'd argue that without its mega, it isn't that much of a menace due to becoming vulnerable when using no retreat. If anyone thinks otherwise then tell me why and offer changes. It has an important synergy with a certain pokemon similar to tatsugiri dondozo.
