I am an INFJ.. I have a small friend group consisting of 5. And I am the most extroverted one amongs them.
So, among them there is an INTP friend. Who is really liked by the girls of my school due to his girlish face and shyish face. And I am ( was ) his best friend. And a funny thing about him is that... Literally the boys say that if only he was born as a girl then they would have married him ( Lol )
I was his best friend until another guy took my place. Well I felt jealous for some reason.
Now now.... For the past 2 months ( school Holidays currently ) he has been kind of ignoring me. I mean even in school he seemed to start pushing me away without any reason. I text him online from time to time but he never replies, so I asked my other friends to check up on him and he apperantly replies to their text and acted normally in their chat...
He even plays games online with my ISFP friend
But why he keeps ignoring my messages and stuff.... I can't find an explanation. Did I do something bad.....
I never remember doing anything bad to him. I even often tell him that I will protect him until I find a suitable girl for him. ( Again lol )
I always did the talking in his place. Like that one time.. he hated being on bus due to motion sickness. And the girls wanted the window seats.( The boys gave the girls the window seat ) But I kind of started a mini fight with the girls bcs my INTP friend needed the window seat. He got the seat. But even after doing all of these things. My INTP friend wanted to sit with that guy one of my other friend. ( He didn't use his mouth to tell me, but I could understand somehow he meant that ).
So can someone tell me why that INTP who was once my best friend now doesn't like me. I know should post this question on the MBTI subreddit. But I felt like asking the INFJs bcs you guys understand what I say and give me the answers I need..

Lol NO! With all the buzz around this world and every company trying to incorporate some form of AI into their business to push their stock price up, I think it's bullshit. But hey, disclaimer: I made two AI businesses and have 2 years of experience in this field, and here is everything I have learned.
My first business was an insurance-based blog completely built with AI. I sold that for $6700 within the first year. I know it's not much, but I needed the money to survive as I was broke.
Now I run a YouTube channel primarily focused on building AI businesses. I started it last year following the trend of AI and unsurprisingly, it grew quite well. I gained about 20k subs and earned quite well combined with all the sponsorship and ad revenue. I get about 5-10 sponsor emails a day, 80% of which go unread. But the other day, I was scrolling through a few of my older sponsor emails and tried testing out a few of their products. Surprisingly, most of their websites were shut down or their products had changed completely from what they had emailed me about.
It was strange for me at first, as these companies did have good money to sponsor but did not have enough to keep running their websites or continuing their products.

So what's the reason?

It all starts to make sense once you start using their product. It's completely dogshit I will be honest. 99% of the AI products available out there right now are just riding the hype train. As cool as it sounds majority of these products have no selling point.
I have used tons thousands of AI products and out of all those ChatGPT is the only one that truly can make a difference for you every other AI product has no real value to offer. The majority of the AI products out there are just reskinned versions of either ChatGPT or Midjourney.
All these companies are VC-backed and initially make a lot of noise with sponsorship and everything but none of these works as not many turn into paying customers.
Most of the new startups are trying to focus on niche problems and trying to solve them using AI. Which I think is a really good initiative and I fully support it. But here is what they miss, they aren’t useful enough for people to ditch the free version of ChatGPT or other such free AI tools and use their product.
Invideo, AI is a good example of such a problem. They are trying to revolutionize the video creation space by integrating AI and also making an AI-based video generator where you just put in the prompt and the AI makes a video on its own from it. Sounds good. Seeing this I thought to put an affiliate link on Invideo in my video descriptions. I got around 600 sign-ups in total and 0 conversions. YES, 0 conversions from 600 sign-ups. Now keep in mind that my channel is very much focused on AI business and video creation so my channel is a perfect fit for their product, but it did not work out even then. I tested out the product and the results were bad, I mean sure it can create videos on its own but the quality is so shit that it can’t be used anywhere.

So who will win this?

So if everything is so bad, then why am I in this business? Well, this is where the opportunity lies. You cannot build a business completely on AI and sell the service because it's very difficult to meet people's expectations to make them a paying customer because in this field people expect way too much than they actually should.
So what can you sell? The best AI business right now I think is to automate your process using some AI tools to get faster results or to outsource. You cannot sell Ai as a business right now.
Companies like OpenAI, and Google have infinite cash, and they can sell this service quite easily but for people like us, it's really difficult to sell AI as a service.

2024.05.17 10:14 UltraRussianSwede New Legion Slim 5 speakers have distorted/crackling audio output

My legion slim 5 16" ryzen 7 7840HS rtx4060, bought in January of this year, had half decent speakers out of the box to begin with (had no issues at all till now), but after 4 months of stationary use now, suddenly have very distinct distorted/crackling sound output for any windows sounds or music or any audio really, which is very hard to simply ignore and move on. I'm not really much of a tech expert and so have extremely limited knowledge as to what might have caused this sudden problem or how to go about fixing it. Can someone please help me understand what the cause could've been and some ways in which this issue can be solved?

The rebel reeled from the punch, the fist slamming through his protective helmet and cracking his jaw. He choked out a sob at the pain and the feeling of several of his teeth being knocked down his throat.
“This? This is what you send to try and rebel against the Imperium?! THIS?!”
A harsh kick was sent into the rebels stomach, making him cough up the rations he had that morning and a few of the once missing teeth. He grabbed his stomach and his body made to tilt forward and lay in the dust.
Only he was stopped as an armored gauntlet grabbed him by the throat and forced him to stand. His hands came up and grabbed at his attackers wrist as he stared into his own grim reaper.
Said killer wore the helmet of the Macraggian Auxilia, his faceplate being that of a stylized skull. His rank was shown proudly in the form of a centurions plum, blue and white horsehair picked out atop a gilded mount on the top of his helmet.
“Incredible. It’s truly incredible what passes for rebellion these days hm?”
The soldiers behind the centurion laughed or smiled as they watched their leader hoist the rebel up as if the rebel was some game beast that was just recently hunted. Pressure in the form of steam shot out of the centurions wrist, betraying the hidden augmented limb under the armor. The rebel tried to speak, scratching at the Centurion’s arm.
“What? Speak up damn you, and speak clearly. I have no time or patience to hear some long speech about tyranny or whatever else. We have your city to burn insurgent.”
And burn it would. Two large tanks with massive flamers could be seen in the back, protected by infantry and assault vehicles. The main force would break the walls, the infantry would kill the people, and the tanks would burn the rest to ashes.
“Aghh….thill….you….thasard!”
The rebel said, spitting blood and bone fragments from his shattered jaw through what was left of his faceplate.
“Ah. Nothing interesting to say. Oh well.”
The rebel tried in vain to speak again but was silenced as the centurion forced a power gladius through his mouth. He was then unceremoniously dropped to the dust, choking on blood as he watched the Macraggian soldiers march on his home. The last thing he saw before dying was his killer, taking his helmet off and smiling in a wide, cocky manner. ————————————————————————
“Don’t spare the body men, he was a rebel. March over him.”
Tiberius Victor, Centurion of the 3rd Macraggain Legion, yelled as he wiped the grim that had built up over his helmet. He scowled at the filth that adorned his armor and sighed.
“Bloody rebels will pay for more than just rebellion. Look at this! They scratched my faceplate! And that bastard I just killed dared to spit blood at me! Oh they will pay tenfold.”
He chuckled and shrugged as he replaced his helmet. He rolled his head and drew the lapistol he had holstered at his side. He examined it for a moment before shaking his head.
“Ugh….to easy.”
He holstered the pistol again and flourished his gladius as he grabbed the handholds of a Leman Russ tank that was about to pass him by. He climbed up until he stood on top of the tank and crouched down, using his newfound height to look over his army and the objective.
The city was massive….but so were the last three he had burned. Both Imperial Army and even Ultramarine Legion Command had told him he was too far ahead and that he needed to slow down. But where was the fun in that? Besides, the campaign has been far too easy thus far. He had suffered very few casualties, his men were never hungry and his tanks never ran dry on fuel, and the enemy bled. Oh how they bled.
He sighed.
“Easy. Far too easy. Captain?”
The command hatch the tank he rode popped open and a woman in the dirty coveralls and goggled helmet of a tank commander. She looked around, rubbing her eyes before turning and smiling widely. She gave a crisp salute, one which he lazily returned, before nodding.
“Aye my Centurion?”
“Do we have any more wine about? I’m parched from all these victories we keep piling on.”
The captain cringed then turned towards the city.
“Uh….my centurion? Wouldn’t you rather have some water?”
Tiberius turned his head towards the captain, the tilt of his head betraying the cocky smile hidden beneath that the captain and the rest of the army had come to love and hate.
“Captain….are you questioning me?”
“I-no! No, of course not my centurion! But uh….well….”
He made a ‘go on’ motion with his hand, not bothering to stand up from the relaxed position he had taken. He had laid down on his side, his sword hand having sheathed his gladius to prop his head up.
“Well….shouldn’t uh….shouldn’t wine be saved for victory?”
The centurion stared at her for a moment. A very long moment. Perhaps….to long of a moment.
“I….I apologize my centurion! I will-“
Laughter. The centurion was laughing, something he rarely did outside of combat or when around the campfires at night. He laughed loudly and caught the attention of several other Auxilia soldiers.
“True! Haha! I knew I kept you around for something Captain. Fine, me and you shall share the first bottle of wine after that….excuse for a city burns. Return to your duties captain.”
He waved the captain off then turned his head back to the city, not moving out of his relaxed position. She knew better then to consider him lazy or incompetent, she had seen him in action.
She saluted and quickly went back down into her tank. ————————————————————————
He held his helmet in the crook of his arm. He breathed in deeply, smiling as he watched the city burn. Something grabbed his boot and looked down, only to scowl in disgust.
A woman, her lower half aflame with one leg missing, held onto his boot and shin guard.
“Please….mercy! We surrender!”
He raised an eyebrow and followed the trail the rebel left in the dust to see several more wounded and scared rebels. One held up a white rag on a piece of rebar as a white flag.
Several of his auxilia aimed their rifles at the rebels as a sergeant began to moved forward with a pair of restraints.
He was stopped by Tiberius’s sword.
“Sergeant? What are you doing?”
“Uh…taking prisoners sir?”
The centurion tilted his head and smiled widely.
“Prisoners? I don’t recall ordering anyone to take prisoners.”
He lifted his boot and stomped on the wounded woman’s head, smiling wickedly at the crunch he heard under his foot.
“Uh….no my Centurion but legion command has-“
“Legion command? You are taking orders from Ultramarines instead of telling me that such orders have come through?”
“There was no time sir! The orders came fro-“
Tiberius put his helmet on and shoved the sergeant to the side, ripping the rifle from the soldiers hands.
“I see no space marines here soldier. I see soldiers and I see rebels. We kill rebels because we are soldiers.”
He took aim at the closest rebel, put his finger on the trigger and-
“Thats enough Centurion.”
He stopped. He slowly turned his head towards the new, feminine voice behind him.
“Excuse me troo-“
He stopped again and stared. She had to have been 10 feet or at least close, this goddess in blue and gold. Her short, cropped hair was golden blonde and a green, metallic laurel wreath was wrapped around her head to add to her noble features. She came with several ultramarines as an honor guard in tow but he was sure she could handle anything thrown her way with ease.
“The Lady of Macragge.”
He whispered in awe before looking around. Those under his command had shared his awe but where he shook himself free, the rest still stared.
“Damn you all, our Lady is here! Bow damn you! All of you bow!”
He paced up and down the line, ensuring his auxilia bowed. He then turned towards the rebels and pointed at the guards who stood over them.
“Them too, cmon now. Bow!”
The rebels resisted the guards orders and movements. The centurions rage grew as he stormed over and pulled his gladius from its sheath.
“I command thee BOW.”
He sliced the back of the knees of one of the captives, the man yelping in pain before yelling in agony from his nearly cut tendons. The rest fell in line quickly.
Tiberius marched towards the Primarch, her honor guard bringing their weapons to bare only for him to kneel down and stab his gladius into the dirt.
“My Lady. Centurion Tiberius Victor of the 3rd Macraggian Legion reporting.”
The Primarch stared down at the Centurion before her eyes went up and around. She took note of the rather large number of prisoners and the burning cityscape around them.
“A good campaign Centurion?”
Tiberius nodded, smiling widely under his helmet.
“Yes my Lady. I only wish it weren’t so boring, so easy! But it is done.”
It took every ounce of self control to not scowl at his arrogant and cocky nature. He spoke as if he had stomped on a bug rather than a rebels skull. Yet….something about him caught her attention.
“Remove your helm centurion.”
He did so without delay, removing his helmet and setting it at her feet. His hair was cut in the traditional military ‘high and tight’ fashion and he was mostly clean cut save for a well trimmed mustache that went no further than the corners of his mouth.
“I recall telling my command staff to recall you back as you had pushed to far ahead. Yet we stand here at the city we were meant to take, the one we were meant to hold. The one….that is currently burning to ashes around us. What do you have to say for yourself Centurion?”
He said nothing for a long time. Then, to her surprise, he laughed. The auxilia around them slowly looked at each other, their faces hidden beneath their helmets but all were worried or tense.
“Hahah! Ah….I say mission accomplished my Lady. I also say that this light really brings out the color of your eyes.”
He laughed again and slowly stood up while extending his arms out wide.
“I say I give you the best gift this galaxy can offer to someone like you from someone like me.”
His smile grew into the same cocky, full of himself grin those under his command knew so well.
“I give you victory, my Lady Juno.”
He held his gladius up and flourished it, letting the blade catch the firelight of a dying city.
“Victory.”

2024.05.17 10:08 Agumon9000 Wallpaper Engine Randomly Crashing with no error message.

I've been using Wallpaper Engine for over a year now and very recently randomly the wallpapers would return to default, I'd check the the icon pins to check on wallpaper engine and when I hover the mouse over the wallpaper engine icon it vanishes. If I don't do that and just relaunch it keeps stacking up those little icons. I've tried installing the newest drivers on my graphics card (nvidia 3090), antivirus ignoring it, verifying game integrity. Even doing the windows file checker. What can I do? Is there any crashlogs to show what is going on?

2024.05.17 09:59 kid-Emperors My pc doesn’t have a sleep button

I bought a PC from NZXT back in October, and ever since I got it there has been no option to put it to sleep. Just shut down and restart, I have to use my keyboard to actually get it to sleep
At first I just assumed it was a windows 11 thing (my old pc was stuck on 10) but now that I’ve used other windows 11 pcs I’ve figured out that it’s just a me problem. I’ve seen this before on my old pc whenever I screwed up my drivers but a restart or an update would fix it
It’s been 7 months, full of drivers updates, windows updates, restarts, and even (albeit insignificant) hardware upgrades, and I still don’t have that option. Using my keyboard to do it is fine, it’s such a minor thing, I’m just worried that this minor thing could be a sign of a more major issue that I’ve also just chalked up to being a windows 11 thing, and the hardware is such an insane upgrade (from a Radeon 580 to an RTX 4080) that I wouldn’t notice if something was keeping it from running as intended anyway
If anyone has any idea of what’s wrong, or if anything is wrong at all and I’m just overthinking, I’d love the advice

2024.05.17 09:58 Impossible_One_8522 Impress Express. Video: Weird frothing at the side of the portafilter

I have a Breville Barista Impress Express Machine and I am getting this weird frothing. I spoke to Breville support and they told me to purchase a new steam ring which I have ordered. However the machine doesn't see a massive amount of use, maybe 3 coffees a week over 2 years.
Anyway. When I pulled out the silicone steam ring it looked in great shape.
So this is what I've done.

I have cleaned the steam ring, (apparently this is called the Group Head Gasket) the portafilter, the basket and the screen outer shower in a ultrasonic cleaner
I've run a clean cycle with the tablet through the machine

I've cleaned all the parts I can get at, and everything looks good, I've always well maintained the machine.
So does anyone have any theories on why it's doing this and what I can do about it? It only does this when it's at the 'full pressure' point.

My account have both the GPTs store and GPT4o since yesterday, and I saw a lot of people that doesn't have it so I will summarize the 2 biggest problem for free user I had with them: GPTs one:
It's an awfully useless feature. You only have 5 use and you can't generate an image, programming apps are not as useful GPT4o was with the same question

I have this code for connect to my bluetooth earbuds "Xiaomi Buds 3T Pro" using java. I want Java to detect if I use one of the press button of my earbuds

The code as it was ONLY WAS ABLE TO CONNECT to bluetooth. No other code included
As far as I looked into, this question is impossible to answer because Xiaomi doesn't allowed individuals to give a way to, unless I code it by myself THAT I CAN'T DO, be able to let a Java code interact with the specific earbuds
What they answered me rougthly :

GPT3.5 : Go to device manager and select Xiaomi Buds 3T Pro. Find the parameter named "UUID" and find a UUID that's contain "Press Control Id". Copy paste into the code as (shows me a new method he created)
GPTs : I can't do that
GPT-4o : This may seems impossible, but have a look for some SDK published by Xiaomi. They probably didn't put it online, but if you found some, you may be able to find what you are looking in a zip file

I sent to GPT-4o the only one zip file I found, asked him to look out if the bluetooth connexion I'm looking for exist, it doesn't, but GPT-4o "considerated" the file was may including the connexion, so created me a probable code to make the connexion work, I didn't even tried to launch the code because I read the file before he did and even the given structure of the file wasn't the same as the real zip structure of the file.
GPTs WON'T try to give you an answer. and you can't even use it to generate image using your daily 5 request, so it seems, for me, very useless. I stopped trying GPTs after 10 tries
GPT-4o biggest problem for free user is that you won't have priority against Plus I did 30 tries this time, and number will be better to express what I mean
On 15 tries I wrote note about, almost only 3 had a less than 1 second wait before starting writing and ending writing in less than 10 seconds, 10 were "slow" with writing around 10-20 seconds The worst, 2 tries were lost because the chat crashed before the interesting part. The first try I did was at a speed of around 5 letters per second, but the last I did 15 minutes ago, he started me writing again A WHOLE java code I did, but didn't even write something I could use, and crashed in the import part of the code
The worst about the last try is that it was so slow (around 1 letter per second), that I just left my computer 3 minute to celebrate my brother birthday, the code was only starting writing the import part of the code, and then crashed some minutes ago.

I've been running a Plex Media Server with the "arr" services on a standalone Windows PC, only accessible on the home network. The current hardware is:
AMD Ryzen 5 3600 (4.2Ghz, 6 core) NVidia GeForce GT 1030 - does a great job of transcoding for Plex 16gb RAM, DDR4 2133Mhz - yes, the next thing I buy for this would be more RAM.
500gb Samsung 980 SSD 8TB HDD (only one drive, but currently it only has media downloaded for Plex, so I won't cry if it dies and I lose everything).
Recently I've been putting some though and research into upping the game, and this sub has been great. What I want to try in the near term:

Change OS to a Linux server (Debian/Ubuntu, not sure the pros/cons of each)
Use Docker to serve Plex and the arrs
Set-up a reverse proxy to allow outsiders to access my Plex
Implement some server admin stuff (Dashboard, IoT, DNS/PiHole etc)
I don't really NEED a NAS, but I would if it makes anything else easier.

In the mid-term (when I get more hardware)

Host a cloud service (NextCloud)
I wouldn't mind being able to spin up some VMs on it if I want to tinkeplay

My questions for the gurus here:

Is my hardware sufficient to achieve at least my near-term goals? Noting I've been doing basically the same through Windows on the same machine, I think it should be fine.
I see a lot of people here running Docker inside Proxmox with VMs set up for media servers, network admin and whatever other segregation one might want. I'm just interested in people's opinions about if that's right for my use case. Is there a scenario where I run Docker with all of my Media Server and Network Admin containers directly on the server, but also have Proxmox running next to it, for tinkering purposes?
Is there a good piece of software for general network admin/parental controls that anyone can recommend? I'm talking about blocking/allowing devices, time limits, traffic monitoring etc. I don't like what came with my TP-Link router, it is clunky and works rarely.

This is to anyone who is so fixated on the point if Yasuke was or wasn't an actual Samurai in the past. What if I told you it didn't matter at all? In your pursuit of "historical accuracy" I'd like to highlight several instances where Assassins' creed allegedly followed history to a T. This is to highlight why it's unjustified in the first place. Assassin's creed has always been historical fiction. Anyone arguing against that is either unfamiliar with the series or is intentionally arguing in bad faith.

Do you all remember that time in history it was recorded there was a civilization before ours?
That time the civilization before ours created humanity in their advanced technology and created us in their image. Pretty sure that's how the bible depicted it. Also how we were created to be utilized as a working force to make their lives easier.
That time humanity acquired a magical artifact that allowed us to free ourselves from our would be owners. Was that one in genesis?
When a solar flare messed up the planet wiping out most of civilization. Causing the former advanced civilization having to mingle with our own race to survive. Also those descendants were gifted with magical, psychic powers, because we all know psychics are real.
That time a single man toppled the assassin's brotherhood bringing an end to a mad man's tyranny.
That time when Lorenzo Medici's assassination attempt was thwarted by Ezio, it's so inspiring that a fictional character was able to transcend past his written limitations to alter the course of real history.
That time the Knights Templars weren't all eradicated in france, became the free masons, and to this day still operate under the guise of a real company known as Abstergo.
That time a Native American turned Assassin saved George Washington's life, fought alongside the colonies, and helped construct America.
Forgive me for these examples as they aren't as commonly known in the community unless you're familiar with some of the written work: The time Lyndon B Johnson orchestrated the JFK assassination to stop a coordinated effort with the russians to get to the moon where a piece of eden resided, the fact that MLK was an Assassin, and the many other alterations made to over exaggerate past figures in history to make for better entertainment.
Let's not forget this synopsis of the very first game. That there's a literal device, that can be found today, that takes DNA strands and make you relive your ancestor's past life in VR Chat. Whose excited for the Meta Verse expansion that just dropped?

The point of all of that is to highlight a simple truth. The Assassin's creed franchise has ALWAYS deviated from historical accuracy for better storytelling, even fabricating things that simply didn't happen at all, and seemingly before this event no one cared. Because of the mantra, history is written by the winners; the Assassins' are an underground society whose tenant is "hidden in plain sight." Meaning the "truth" in AC is under the ruse that history had been interpreted incorrectly. That there are things we in modern civilization, what we've been told, doesn't necessarily mean it's the real truth. Why do you think the synopsis of the first game is to use the genetic material, to use your ancestor's past lives, to find out said "truths."
All of that is fine because it's HISTORICAL FICTION. By demanding only historical accuracy you take the fiction out and are left with only history.
So who cares if Yasuke was or wasn't an official samurai? When they can just easily masquerade it as his impact was minimized in recorded history because the nature of the plot, hiding in plain sight. As for the complaint about not having an Asian male playing the lead part maybe there is some merit to the claim; however, real fans of the series knew we had waited a long time for a game in Japan, when we first learned of a female Japanese assassin years back. Now it's somehow a problem that it's a female woman of japanese origin playing one of two protagonist of this story? We also had examples of other characters taking the lead role, even if momentarily, like DLC in black flag I believe; where we took the role of a man fighting against slavers during the slave trade.
Now Asmon is completely right to criticize the price point of this title. I completely agree with that stance and should other gamers, but let's not rally behind a lie that Assassin's creed has always "prided itself on historical accuracy" or any deviations of such is somehow a new foreign concept to the IP. It's not genuine, it's stupid, and highlights an even bigger issue that critics of those critiquing the game are going to latch onto. How the AC fandom had no quarrels with history being altered in the past, up until it was time for history to deviate to favor a black man.
I know we are tired of AAA titles doing these bait and switches. However, attacking this franchise for doing it isn't the win you think it is especially with all I've highlighted. Please, if you want to fight back do so on the context of the pricing and leave the insignificant changes to history, in an IP based off of Historical fiction, alone. Also fun fact, before it's said, yes I WAS an AC fanboy back in the day. Loved the games because I adore historical fiction and it was nice to see interpretations of what if's or what could have been. That's the enjoyment i got from the title, what I imagine a lot of people got out of it, and the writing quality seriously dropped in later titles. I hadn't played an AC title sense Syndicate. (Heard some of them actually got good, i'll take your word for it.)
But thanks for coming to my ted talk. I'm not expecting any real conversations about this or the points I made. Mostly because you all are so wrapped up in being angry to even attempt to reason too. Maybe in a few months people will come back, see this, and realize that maybe it wasn't the end of the world like they suspected. At least let the game come out, see for yourself, then make a choice if it's good story telling or not.

2024.05.17 09:22 ClerksII Does my Grandma have undiagnosed ADD( HD) and could that explain why she’s so difficult?

My Grandmother is a Caucasian, 70 year old woman, no medication, probably between 4’11- and 5’1, about 160 lbs ( Not sure, she’s got thin arms and legs, and while her body isn’t thin, it’s not really heavyset. She has no problem with her mobility, maybe just slower walking, has a bad hip but refuses to take any medication of any kind for any reason, and is a HUGE chain smoker. Probably one or two packs a day. This would explain her infrequent but still noticeable, phlegmy cough from time to time.
I don’t know everything about her past but I know some: One of seven children, parents used to scream a lot, she used to cry in bed with her sister when it happened, told me she stayed away from home as much as she could, started smoking at about 12 years old, got pregnant with my dad at 15, became a mom at 16, by all accounts was the best mom ever, biking, reading, dancing, encouraging my dad to try new things, but still moved around a lot, and kept going from house to house, to trailer, etc.
When she was about early 20s, she met and married a guy who she later divorced because they had a kind of culture clash. I don’t remember exactly what he was, but he was very controlling of her, forbidding her to wear swimsuits, or going anywhere without him, and eventually he threatened her several times with knives and a hand around her neck. Never did anything but she was afraid of knives for a very long time afterwards.
She met my grandpa, and I guess things were fine until after she had my aunt. Sometime after she was away from home as much as she could by way of bingo.This led to her using what she could out of her own paychecks until she came after my grandpa’s, who let her. He sold stuff around the house and eventually asked people for money. Sometime after being married to my grandpa she randomly developed night terrors and sleepwalking. Full on waking up and screaming, full on walking outside and screaming. I guess it just stopped. Was controlling of my aunt, didn’t want her trying new foods, didn’t go out or do fun things with her like she did with my dad.
Nowadays it is well known that nobody wants to live with her, but she’s not like abusive or stealing. But here is what we have noticed:
Heavy chain smoker. It doesn’t look like she even finishes them, she goes like halfway, stops, lights a new one.
Can’t or won’t sit and watch a movie or show. Will start one, get up and do laundry, take care of the dog, check her phone, play on her phone, and will full on have a conversation with you or someone when she was the one who wanted to watch the movie.
Frequent gambler. We just went on a cruise to place she’s always wanted to go and she spent a good chunk either smoking or gambling.
Very annoyed with the smells or steam of foods to the point where she’ll complain or get up and move. My grandpa famously only had seafood twice while married to her and he loved seafood.
Very irritable if she goes a while without a cigarette. She was pretty rude in the airport.
Gets annoyed easily when starting to board or get off the plane. Will full on loudly complain about the heat or cold. Kept asking my dad to open window, close window, turn ac off, turn ac on. Whiny.
Restless, seems like she can’t sit still or focus on anything in a climate where she has to sit and be quiet. (Planes and shows)
Known to start fights about pretty much anything that she doesn’t like. It is all about her from the thermostat, the entertainment, the volume, food, etc very difficult to live with
Very dramatic. Complained she was so cold on an excursion she couldn’t move her leg, and then refused to see a doctor about a numb leg. Said she’d just take a shower and then was suddenly all better about an hour later when she was smoking. Never showered, shrugged it off by saying she’ll be all right.
Dramatic in a little kid version. Like when a two year old is confused or thinking, they’ll scratch their head, purse their lips. Like their mimicking confusion verbal cues? Like they’re thinking this is what we do when we’re confused so this is what I will do. She seems to react to things dramatically and like a second or two after a proper reaction time?
A dog barked and her whole body moved in startled matter. If she hates something she eats, she makes an audible grunt, forces a sad expression in her face, holds a napkin to her mouth, and will dramatically push the food away. It’s not just dramatic, for some reason it makes me think of a toddler going through the motions so to speak.
Will sometimes ask us questions and then immediately talk to someone else or walk away and do something.
Says she’s an introvert who doesn’t like talking to people, but actively makes a point to talk to people. Not in a rude way or anything, just likes talking to people. Not sure if that means anything but I’ve always noticed that. Why would you say you dont like talking to people if you actually do?
Has quit a few jobs for silly reasons, and made impulse buys, like a new car when she obviously can’t afford it. Even back when I was a kid, she was known to gamble nearly everything, and could never afford anything, even though she made decent money.
Loves to complain. Or she just complains a lot. Going out to eat with her is usually a nightmare unless we go out with her to an approved place.
My dad made a joke that she’s ADD and it got me thinking about everything. Can she have and have had undiagnosed ADD? Can symptoms of an ADD nature appear because of trauma? Can trauma beforehand affect symptoms of ADD?
Or maybe it’s undiagnosed anxiety or depression, but can those lead to restlessness or symptoms like ADD?
My great grandma once told my mom apologetically my grandma has always put herself first before anyone. But dad’s joke had made me wonder if there’s maybe overstimulation or…something?
I know you’re not psychic and I’m happy to give any extra info, but I wondered if a person can be horribly selfish if they have some kind of undiagnosed whatever.
