I've traveled all over the US and have lived in quite a few cities, including Denver, Miami, and several mid-sized cities throughout Louisiana and East Tennessee.
I was always amazed by cities growing up. I love the architecture, the sense of community, the food, the energy, the feeling of being part of something bigger than myself.
But the more time I spend in cities, the more I feel like our cities and the communities they're home to are crumbling.
Corporate control and corrupt politicians have made life in the city highly unaffordable. Car-centric design has littered our communities with asphalt, unwalkable streets, and parking lots. New architecture - office buildings and residential alike - has been designed to maximize profits rather than for the enjoyment and use of the people.
It's upsetting to me that we've lost so much of what made American cities and life in the West so great in the past.
So, imagine if we had a chance to reinvent our cities and society as a whole. No politics, no BS, just a fresh start, with all of the technology we have today. What changes could we make to create a better life for ourselves and our next generations? Here's some of my ideas. I hope you enjoy.
Architecture, Construction, and Urban Design:

• Plan the City Ahead of Time as a Digital Model

Let's build a digital model of our next-gen city, based around a state-of-the-art public transportation system, with a clear architectural style. Future residents can propose design changes online.

• Create the Most Livable and Community-Oriented Neighborhoods We Can Imagine

Within our neighborhoods, we'll have walking and bike paths, parks, trees for shade, lighting at night, local businesses and eateries on the ground level, filtered water stations and clean, nice restrooms set throughout. We'll rid our public spaces of advertisements, parking lots, and loud cars and replace it with art, eateries, local business, and effective public transportation.

• Create Better Homes, Apartments, and Complexes

We'll have local business on the ground level of our buildings, a set minimum of restaurant spots built in each neighborhood. Condos and apartments will be equipped with water filtration systems, better air filtration systems, humidity control, zone-specific HVAC control, better sound proofing, and temp-control mattresses in bedroom to improve sleep. The complexes will be designed harmoniously with their surrounding environment in mind - No more balconies overlooking a 4-lane highway. Complexes will have community-spaces (pool deck, garden, gym, community balconies), and larger complexes will have redundant spaces, each assigned to different floors / sections of the complex, so that residents see the same people more and are able to foster community more easily. (It's hard in big complexes - there's so many people)

• Sustainability, Construction, and Decentralization

We could manufacture many of our buildings in a modular fashion outside of the city, for final assembly within the city to minimize construction noise and time. Our current cities are constantly under construction, it's a drag. Construction tools could be redesigned to make less noise, and we can allocate more resources / labor to each project to complete faster. We'll utilize sustainable building materials like CLT where feasible. We can even design architecture to be disassembled and recycled at the end of its life. Disassembly, material sorting, and recycling will be much easier to accomplish down the line with AI. One of our best defenses against tyranny and outside forces is decentralization - Equipping each neighborhood with solar, and creating redundant water systems, online communication systems, etc will create a strong, resilient city.
A New Education System

• One Completely Free Education System

Let's quit putting children in $100s of thousands in debt over education and create one, singular education system that equips both children and returning adults with all of the tools they need to succeed in society. We'll have a core curriculum and then a multitude of different areas that students can pursue based on their passion and current job market conditions. We'll utilize video teaching (like people are doing on YouTube now) and AI simulations to drastically increase retention and course quality. Again we'll teach the basics, like math, scientific method, geography, language and rhetoric, but we'll also teach essentials like how to cook, how to exercise and take care of your body, how to build relationships, how to open a business, how to operate our city's political system, the basics of modern society - basic housing construction, water systems, electricity, our public transportation network. And then once kids start to branch out into their niche, we'll offer courses on specific careers, like construction, urban design, culinary arts, music, engineering, etc. Real, practical, skills all for free in one system.

• Real-Time Job Market Analytics, and Enhanced Student Report Card

We'll tap employers / local businesses into our education system for the sole purpose of making job-market data available to students in real time. Businesses and employers will post their labor needs into the system, and students / parents can make educational path decisions based on real-time data. As students progress and expand their knowledge, their progress will be automatically compiled into an advanced and details student 'report card' which details their expertise, interests, and knowledge rather than pinning them up against other classmates in a GPA system. This will allow employers and parents a much better understanding into student's strengths, passions, and progress.
A (Much) Better Political System
There's a long list of issues with our current political system - only two parties, corporate control, federal overreach, money laundering, massive corruption and human rights violations around the globe. Let's scrap it entirely and create a reddit-like 'community forum' for our city where once every 2-4 years during a limited working-hours political holiday, we come together to discuss policy, issues within our community, new developments and plans, and how we would like to allot our tax money. We'll have a highly secure voting system and make decisions for our community within our community. We can still elect officials, as well as management and development companies for projects and managed systems. These contractors and companies can bid for the communities' business within the forum and we can vote there. Something else we could do is scrap IPO's and instead buy out systems that arise within our community like uber or airbnb and turn them into community assets the same as we've done with education, public transportation, etc. We'll elect / re-elect a management team and these services will become dirt cheap for everyone, instead of being bought out by investors and turned to shit to maximize profits.

Many fans doubted Wes returning because he wasn’t listed on IMDB or discussed in interviews/articles but I just knew we hadn’t seen the last of him. Because he did return, I feel it has to be for a reason. He could be an accomplice to Bloody Rose but let’s just say he’s cosplaying and is the killer! The Liars have considered Bloody Rose as real person aka Rose Waters but have also thrown around the idea that it’s just someone cosplaying heusing content from the SS website.
Motive: Jealousy of Tabby’s talent, desire to make the perfect horror movie aka a real life one, believes she & Imogen are liars as Ms. Langsberry does, and possibly being related to Chip (brother? Cousin?).
Is it a bit obvious? Yeah. Does it make sense? Yeah. I like the fact that if he is BR, it’s a character we’ve known since last season. Someone like Jen or Johnny would feel like a letdown in that respect.
2.) Karen
While a twin switch is still possible, I don’t believe Kelly is BR because she was at the skate party when Mouse was attacked. She was also with Greg when Sandy was killed. So a switch wouldn’t make sense of that. Although far-fetched, Karen surviving the fall fits into the PLL tv series franchise. In OG PLL, Ali was not only hit in the head but buried alive and STILL LIVED. I’m thinking Sheriff Beasley managed to aid her in recovery and keep her hidden. In terms of survival, I don’t think Ms. B knows but maybe another relative is helping her? A significant other? Like Nick helping Ali in the books. In the teaser for upcoming episodes, it looks like Kelly gets attacked and left in the pool—dead? Not sure. But it would make sense if Karen killed her for taking her boyfriend and attempting to fill her shoes… More book inspiration. It would also make sense why Sandy was killed.. Maybe Karen is saving Greg for later? In the cartoon poster, Imogen is near a figure that has a thorn crown and bandages. We can assume it’s her mother although it doesn’t explain those attributes—maybe it symbolizes the fact that BR is someone we are to believe is dead.
Motive: Overall hatred towards the liars for the prank and possibly working for someone who is keeping her secret (S3 A?) This would be assuming she’s cosplaying as BR from SS content. She would need a mask—maybe Christian is her helper?
With that being said l, I still think she could be revealed as doing this all alone.
3.) Davie Twin
While I’ve made some valid connections and pointed out clues that make this a possibility I don’t see a motive. Noa asked in this week’s episode WHY is this happening to them. Clearly it’s significant and I don’t think Davie or a twin would have motive to be BR; however, I’m leaving her on the list.
4.) Ms. Langsberry (BORING option)
Motive: Believes Tabby & Imogen are lying about Chip and possibly has a horror obsession that inspired her son’s liking of the genre (the final tests BR is doing).
5.) Ms. B (BORING option)
Motive: Religious motive to kill “sinners.” She’s targeting the Liars because of the stunt they pulled on Karen and that their mothers are the reason Archie did the events of S1.
I have my eyes on Ash and Mouse but it would be impossible for them to be working alone and I don’t feel enough clues/scenes have suggested this. Yet ;)

Genuinely, during a match, why do characters that you do not own still show up in chests that you open. This really limits competitive potential for the f2p player, and locks them in having to play much harder and better, and just straight up luckier to win. To show why this is unbalanced, let’s compare it to brawl stars; while you maybe locked out of playing legendary and mythic brawlers starting out, there’s never a game mode that requires you select from a certain pool of brawlers to play as. If you are goated with Shelly, there is never a chance that you don’t get to play Shelly (unless you’re playing ranked; which is a game mode made with already having a variety of brawlers in mind) There’s games where you are locked out of getting an epic rarity troop because you don’t have the specific one that the chest is offering. This puts you way behind in a super fast paced game, and basically punishes you for ever trying to get out of the first arena. This system is so unbelievably dog water and is so fixable that it’s infuriating that it wasn’t like this from the get-go; especially since there’s no “Starr road” for getting new characters.

Hey I'm (29 male) thinking about getting into one of the trades. IE. plumbing, electrical, HVAC and I was wondering if anyone had any advice they would be willing to share? Is it too late for me to get into a trade like this? I feel like I should have started in my early 20s.
I've helped my brother and my friend with some very basic home owner stuff, installing PVC, changing outlets, and even running a light switch into a new breaker. Nothing crazy but I've at least dipped my toes in home owner maintenance. Just watched YouTube videos and looked at posts online until we got it right (hopefully, nothing has broken or caught fire yet).
Currently I work as an IT Help Desk and while I don't mind the work, I dont find it fulfilling and I have been really enjoying helping my brother and friend with their houses ( I currently live with my brother too so I am always involved in the next project. ) I started at around $24 an hour and currently I am making $29 an hour.
How would my current pay compare to a tradesman?
I don't want to put myself in a position where I cannot afford my current standard of living. No kids, no SO. I've seen that apprenticeships start at about $15 an hour, is there another way I could get the required education to avoid that drastic decrease in pay? I could not afford to lose that much hourly wage.
If I did decide to go into a trade what would be some things I should look out for and how would I actually go about starting that education?
I am not sure about the difference between apprenticeship and trade school, is one better than the other for me?
I do have some basic power tools and hand tools (Ryobi and Husky brand). I understand that Ryobi is generally looked down upon by tradesman but its worked for me so far with just normal weekend DIY projects, not sure how well it will hold up for daily use. I assume I would need to upgrade to Milwaukee/Makita/DeWalt eventually but if possible I would like to get the most out of the tools I have now until I HAVE to replace them. Would you think that would be possible?
Sorry for the long post and the many questions but i do seriously want to give this some consideration and see if it is possible even if it will take some time before I am ready to seriously pursue this. I just want to take pride in the work I do and I just dont have that feeling with my current job. Its not that I think I do a bad job but I have just enjoyed working with my hands so much more than what I currently do.

Something grabbed my leg at the pool.
I was on my last lap—just doing a leisurely breaststroke—when massive fingers wrapped around my thigh and dragged me down.
I squirmed and tried to get away, but the fingers were wrapped tight. They had some form of suction cups. My ensuing struggle attracted the attention of the lifeguard. As soon as he came to my aid, the massive fingers let go.
The guard believed me when I said that something had caught my leg. He inspected the area. But all he could find was a pink plastic wristband.
“That’s not what pulled me down,” I said.
He shrugged and put on the wristband.

In the locker rooms I swear I could hear something walking around, making large, squishy, plodding sounds. I stayed hidden in my change room, waiting for the sounds to stop.
From beneath the change room curtain I could see wet footprints. I could literally see large, towel-length footprints appear on the ground—out of nothing.
Of course it freaked me out. And of course I gasped out loud.
Before I knew it, the curtains opened and closed on their own.
I was cornered in the back of the changeroom.
I let out a half a scream before invisible wet fingers wrapped themselves around my face. My head was shoved against ceramic tiles.
Fear froze me completely.
A hot breath arrived, smelling like moldy fruit. Then a voice came. It was high pitched and squeaky, choking a little on its own words.
“No need to be scared. It's just me. JUMPY!”
Like a chameleon, the skin of the creature slowly solidified into gray. One of its eyes was the size of my head. I would say it looked like one of those red-eyed tree frogs, except it was nine feet tall and it could easily kill me.
It switched from holding my mouth to pressing its sticky fingers against my throat. “Remember me? Remember me?”
‘No’ seemed like the wrong answer, so I just repeated the name it told me. “...Jumpy?”
“YES! YES!” The creature jumped up and down—still holding me by the throat. If I hadn't grabbed hold of its fingers, it might have hung me on the spot.
“Jumpy! Jumpy Frog! That's me!”
I was dropped to the floor as it started to clap. The massive webbed hands created a deafening applause.
“Marie-Anne and Jamie made me when they were babies! I was their best friend!” The frog jumped onto a wall effortlessly and peered down at my struggling body. “Every day I was with them—every day I helped them!”
It was referring to my older twin sisters, who died last year in a car accident. Part of the reason I was out swimming so late is because that’s how I’ve been coping with their passing. We all used to do synchronized swimming for many years.
“But now they’re gone… They're gone! How terrible is that?!” The frog sounded like an overdramatic, sad cartoon. It teared up, and pounded the very wall it was climbing. “And now, no one believes in Jumpy!”
I was still recovering, breathing through a pinhole, but that didn’t stop Jumpy from hoisting me by the leg.
“You’re the only Whitaker sister left! You have to believe in Jumpy!”
It felt like I was speaking through a tiny straw. “Have to?”
“Yes! Can’t you see? I’m fading! I used to be green for frog’s sake!” Jumpy shoved its forearm against my face. Some of the gray slime stuck to me.
“If you don’t believe in Jumpy … I’ll die! And I don’t want to die!”
The frog crawled to the ceiling and dangled me by the leg, high above the marble floor. “You have to believe in Jumpy! You HAVE to!”
If I landed in the wrong way, I could easily break my neck, or skull. I forced myself to sound happy. “I believe in Jumpy, I believe in Jumpy.”
For the first time in the entire encounter, the creature treated me like a porcelain doll. I was gently lowered to the floor, and then patted on the head.
“Good. Keep believing in Jumpy. Think about Jumpy every day.” The frog made a gagging sound, then leapt back to the ceiling, leaving wet marks along the wood. “And if you stop believing in Jumpy, don’t worry … I’ll come back to remind you!”
The frog smiled in a way that made its giant eyes bulge and look in two opposite directions. I thought for a second it had a tongue lolling out of its mouth, but I peered closer, and could make out a human hand in its lips.

Since that encounter I’ve basically been in a permament state of fear, praying that Jumpy never visits me again.
I’m an animator so drawing is a hobby of mine. I’ve drawn countless sketches of Jumpy and left them around my house, my work, on my phone, etc. Not a day goes by without me seeing a picture of that frog.
I believe I’m fulfilling my promise. I’m thinking about Jumpy every day. But I also haven't slept properly in like … months.
I’d like to stop thinking about the frog. But that also sounds terrifying.
I’m pretty much forced to think about my worst fear all the time.
Its wearing me down. I’m so exhausted…
What am I supposed to do?

I have built a life I should be proud of. Went to college. Met the girl. Got two degrees. Got a job in the city in 2018 making shit pay. Crushed it. Doubled my salary in 3 years now making good money (well at least it was impressive at my age pre psycho inflation but still lol). Blew everyone at my new company away when they found out how young I was. Continued to kill it.
The girl & I traveled a lot. Hiked beautiful national parks, relaxed in foreign beachside resorts, partied in great cities in the US. Lived like we should. We moved to a new city at the start of 2020 ready to live it up. Then Covid. Lost basically the rest of my prime 20s locked down. But I got over it. Came out just as good.
I bought a house in 2022 for my girl & I right when I turned only 28 (me) and 26(her). A nice home too. Not a mansion or anything crazy but a nice middle class home plenty big enough to raise a family. Big yard. Pool. Picket fence.
At first I was terrified. The home was so expensive. Thought we made a mistake. Couldn’t afford it. Then the initial expenses wore off. We got financially comfortable again. Things were going well.
Home needed some updates and I did them. Myself. Alone. Painted the whole fucking thing alone. Installed new floors by myself. Gutted the kitchen and remodeled it by myself. Added a solid 50k in equity. Did a damn good job for not being a pro. Still making some updates but I’m crushing it. House looks absolutely stunning so far.
I did it all how I should right? Got the degrees, got the job, got the girl, got the home, put in my own hard work. I’m living the American dream I wanted. I built the life one should be proud of.
But I’m not… now that I have it, I don’t want it. The house? Fucking hate it. Yeah it’s nice and all but it’s not me. I have neighbors. I never wanted that. The town? Terrible. I live in a small town with with none of the benefits of rural life (lots of land, no neighbors, light traffic etc) and all of the cons (no amenities, weird people, far drives to get anywhere). Far from both our families which causes both of us to be resentful instead of just one. Hate this town. It’s horribly expensive. I mean we can afford it just fine, but only if we both work. Fucking taxes alone are 8k/yr. Woulda been better off renting for christs sake. It’s the principle of it. I’m 1.5 hours from the nearest major city (on a good day) yet pay nearly the same prices as they do.
The job? Stagnate. Haven’t moved up in 3 years. 1% pay raises every year. Can’t get a new job because they all have 1000+ applicants. Moved too far to commute to jobs that are hybrid or in person. Company lays off people constantly so I’m always afraid.
The girl? Now she’s horribly depressed. Won’t get treatment. Our relationship is on life support. She randomly decided she no longer wants to have kids when we both did before. Her family takes up all our time now and they’re miserable and make her even more miserable. She won’t do any work to get better and it’s just not what it was.
All I do is fantasize about moving back near my hometown in the countryside, or the city where I can take a hybrid or in person job making crazy money. She doesn’t want either of those.
I’m not proud of this. I’m not proud I put myself in this situation and can’t get out of it this very second. On paper it’s literally the American dream. Am I grateful? Beyond. Am happy? No.
I got so caught up in BUILDING a life, I forgot to build the life I actually wanted. I feel like I wasted my time. My youth. Everything. 6 years post college? Waste. 7 years with this girl? Waste. Money spend on this house? Waste. My 20s? Waste. Now I’m 30? The fuck? Now all signs are pointing to us breaking up, selling the house, and starting over somewhere new at 30… not proud. Not happy. Not what I envisioned. Not even close.
Anyways. That’s my rant. Just because someone on paper has what we consider to be “the things” it doesn’t mean they are actually happy. I was happiest living in my 1bd small 3rd floor walk up in a city with my GF when she was happy and healthy and we were young even though we were living on just my pay and it wasn’t a lot. Not once did we ever complain about it. We were comfortable still. Only complaint we ever had back then was shared laundry 3 floors down in a basement. I’d give it all up to go back in time to shared apartment basement laundry room days.

The cold open for the finale has a nice little parallel to the cold open in S1E2, which similarly has Deborah walk in to Marty who’s in a somewhat compromising position with his trainer to deliver good news, although in this case her news is something they both celebrate, rather than a win she uses to gloat over Marty
Even though she’s in a much less combative place with Marty, Deborah still isn’t willing to admit that she came over to tell him the news in person and insists that she’s only there to return the key, showing the limited extent to which she is willing to open up even to people she’s known for a long time.
Deborah and Marty doing the tango together to basically celebrate the news is quite cute and a fun way to kick off the episode
I do think it’s kind of sweet that Kathy is quite looking forward to Deborah’s visit, and J Smith Cameron plays up Kathy’s somewhat childlike excitement at this during the opening of the phone call
Nice to see Deborah making an effort to follow up after inviting Kathy for Christmas, committing to a sister’s weekend is a not insignificant step although it also becomes clear that she’s not 100% committed to it. Waiting for Kathy to call and then tell her there’s a change in plans instead of just straight up telling her isn’t a particularly nice thing to do
Deborah has a weird look on her face when Kathy brings up her parents at the mausoleum, which I initially thought was because she didn’t really like to reflect on the past, although on a rewatch it becomes clear it’s because she knows the truth about the mausoleum.
“She’s pivoting into being an adult” Found the way Kayla phrased this part of the child star to adult actor experience to be very funny. I guess the Bella Donaldson character is supposed to be a reference to people like Zendaya, Zac Efron and Selena Gomez (Cannes Best Actress winner!!???), Disney child stars who are trying to shed their past image and be taken as serious adult actors to varying degrees of success. Also the bit about getting awards buzz for an Aronofsky movie feels a bit like what happened/ was projected to happen with Sadie Sink and The Whale
Deborah watching her old Late Night tape and Ava seeing her do that is a nice callback to and reversal of S1E3, where it was Ava watching Deborah’s tape and discovering more about her past
I love Hannah Einbinder’s simple but sincere delivery of “I knew you would” as Ava, and the way Jean Smart lets just the tiniest smile play across Deborah’s lips in response to Ava’s belief in her
Ava being able to only write stuff for Deborah’s Late Night show and not any actual material of her own shows that even though it’s been a year plus since the S2 Finale she still has the same issue of Deborah being “the one with all the stories. What do I even have to say?”
Ava’s voice going up endearingly high when she says “This is gonna be amazing” is very cute, what a touching and lovely scene between Deborah and Ava showing the respect and admiration they have for each other. I’m sure that will continue for the rest of the finale!

Very fun comedy freaking out by Mark Indelicato as Damien, him becoming hysterical at the thought of becoming the new Marcus is hugely entertaining.
According to Hannah Einbinder and Jean Smart on Variety’s Award Circuit podcast, thy did shoot a scene for this episode where Marcus does tell Deborah that he’s leaving but it was cut from the episode. Honestly not sure what role Marcus will play next season and curious to see what the writers will do since it seems he’s going on a very different plotline than the rest of the show. If this was another show I’d say he’s being written out but from interviews and other behind the scenes material the cast and showrunners are fairly tight knit, so I’d imagine they’ll find a way which makes sense for Marcus to continue being around
Between this guest appearance as Bella Donaldson and the release of Lisa Frankenstein and Abigail, Kathryn Newton is quietly having a pretty cool 2024. She absolutely nails the passive-aggressive “nice” girl type that she’s asked to play here. Also the Zack and Cody mention is kind of neat since Newton starred along with Cole Sprouse in Lisa Frankenstein earlier this year, while the goat demon movie mentioned might possibly be a nod to Newton’s affinity for the horro horror adjacent genre?
Quite like this Jimmy/Kayla B plot, allows Meg Stalter to show a different/more emotional side to Kayla who’s usually just the very fun comedic relief. Her smiling nicely and trying to politely ward off Bella’s passive-aggressive “niceness” is such a deeply human character beat.
Deborah Margesson doesn’t quite have the same ring to it as Deborah Vance, so I guess that’s why she didn’t go back to her maiden name after the divorce.
Deborah moving her parent’s remains to Vegas and not telling Kathy for twenty plus years is absolutely deranged behaviour. “It was a corner plot” and “I used my art shipper!” are ridiculously bad responses to the situation, this being the last straw for Kathy is very understandable. Although in Deborah’s defence I guess the fact that she was willing to accompany Kathy to the mausoleum for what she knows to be a completely empty gesture is her deranged way of showing care for her sister and not wanting to hurt her feelings.
Also in hindsight Deborah lying to/not telling Kathy about their parents to avoid hurting her feelings and any conflict is good foreshadowing since that pretty much turns out to be what she does regarding Ava and the head writer job

I think Kathy’s reaction to Deborah here and deciding that she’s had enough of her BS and not wanting to put herself through even more hurt in attempting to maintain a relationship is completely reasonable, really liked J Smith Cameron’s work here, as well as Jean Smart playing Deborah’s silent acceptance of this relationship blowing up yet again

Kathy’s reaction to Deborah’s BS here serves as a great contrast to how Ava deals with Deborah’s BS later on in the episode, it truly takes someone special/equally deranged to want to continue being with Deborah despite all her flaws and the hurt she causes to those around her. To use some internet parlance, Kathy is unwilling to put up with Deborah’s freak, while Ava ends up being more than willing to match Deborah’s
Lewis Benton/ fake John Oliver’s line to Ava about her being the hardest-working person in the office is a nice reminder of how working with Deborah has changed Ava for the better in some ways by giving her a stronger work ethic
“Maybe our paths will cross again” Just speculating here, and maybe this would be too inside baseball of a storyline for a show that initially at least was about two people on the “outside” of the entertainment industry, but might there be a future storyline of Deborah competing against fake John Oliver for an Emmy? A recent Emmy rule change starting from the Emmys earlier this year means that Oliver no longer competes with the more traditional Late Night shows like Colbert, Kimmel, Meyers, The Daily Show etc prior to that this had been the case for the past ten or so years
Kayla being the funny one growing up as a defense mechanism against bullies like Bella is such a great character detail on the part of the writers, makes so much sense and explains so much about Kayla’s outlook and attitude
This conflict is so great because both Jimmy and Kayla do have a point. Obviously Jimmy standing up for Kayla who’s being bullied is a good thing for him to do as a friend, but Kayla’s also not wrong in feeling that Jimmy is kind of ignoring her work and being a bit patronising. Really liked how Meg Stalter plays Kayla’s hurt feelings in this scene, it’s a well-executed emotional beat for a generally comedic character. And this continues the throughline about whether Jimmy has what it takes/enough stones and guts to be in the business which was also seen in the back part of S2
Quite liked the scene between Deborah and Biff Cliff (what a name!), a pretty sobering reminder of the obstacles faced by women in entertainment and just how precarious making it in the business actually is, makes complete sense that it would spook Deborah to do what she does later on
I thought the Jimmy Page dating a 14 year old story was meant to be a jab and Jerry Seinfeld and his 17 year old girlfriend, but googled and found out that that was a true story too
I feel like the bit Ava has as a writer taking new headshots and the different treatment they receive compared to actors must be drawn from the real-life experiences of the writers/showrunners, it’s such a specific joke. That said I think if you asked a layperson to tell who’s a writer and who’s an actor from this Deadline photoshoot I think they’d be hard pressed to tell the difference (very complimentary).
Ava sharing her excitement over her “dream job” as head writer for Deborah with a random make-up artist is very endearing, and just makes what happens later on even more crushing
Deborah going to the exec meeting and slowly realising just how much is being invested in her is a great bit of reaction acting from Jean Smart, and further helps reinforce the pressure she’s under and explains her choices
Quite liked the scene of Deborah telling Ava that the network doesn’t want her as head writer, on first watch it seems like Deborah is just worried about how to break the bad news to Ava and let her down easy, but on rewatch it feels so obvious that Deborah is just lying through her teeth to Ava and struggling with it big time.
Jimmy’s “proposal” to Kayla on the plane is such a great comedic setpiece/skewing of the rom-con trope, everything from the overly-excited passenger who completely misreads the situation to Jimmy kneeling because the flight attendant says there’s no standing in the aisle is just perfect.
It’s also just a really good way to cap off the season long plot involving Jimmy and Kayla, we’ve seen throughout the season that they make a very good thing and that Kayla’s kind of a genius at this in her own unique way, very satisfying to see Jimmy finally recognise this and promote her. Jimmy and Kayla’s mentomentee relationship serves as a healthy contrast to Deborah and Ava,with Jimmy as a mentor who recognises the mentee’s contributions and is willing to make compromises (see his acceptance of Kayla’s three funny videos a day)
Jimmy’s voice going up absurdly high when he says “Leave us alone!!!” and “What is your deal” is fantastic comedic work from co-showrunner Paul W Downs, he’ll get Writing and Series Emmy nominations this year, but he should really be getting one for Supporting Actor too.
I guess if you want to nitpick you could say Ava running into Winnie is a very convenient thing to move the plot along, but I choose to look at is as a reminder that Ava has moved on up in the world since the end of S2 and is now at a place where she can get takeout from fancy places where a high-level network head might also dine

My god, Ava confronting Deborah is just a perfect perfect scene, the writing is so sharp and Jean Smart is fantastic at playing Deborah going into ice/hardened mode when being confronted, but what a tremendous performance by Hannah Einbinder. She just captures the mixture of betrayal, hurt and anger that Ava feels so naturally and powerfully
There’s so many callbacks and references to previous Deborah/Ava confrontations and scenes from across the show. Ava accusing Deborah of just doing the same thing is from their very first meeting S1E1 where she calls her a hack as well as from their argument in S1E10 when she calls her the same thing. The line about being “a shark or whatever” comes from S2E5 which is what Deborah’s retired comedian friend Susan describes her as, with Deborah later then telling Ava that “You’ve got to be a shark” at the end of S2E8. And Deborah’s advice to Ava to be ambitious and saying that she feels lonely when opening a champagne bottle comes from S3E5 (take that people who said the woods episode was pointless filler).
“You can be the woman behind the man behind the woman” What an unappealing job description, and also a sign of how far Ava has comes since the S2 finale when she was unwilling to take the credit for writing Deborah’s special. Now her time away from Deborah has allowed Ava the space to truly value herself, her achievements and be justifiably proud of them (she stresses her job at On The Contrary to Deborah back in S3E1 and stresses her co-producer role when in bed with Christina Hendricks in S3E6), and she’s no longer willing to accept this demotion and wants credit for her work.
“You’re already making decisions out of fear and you’ll keep doing it” A really cutting observation from Ava which completely nails what Deborah is doing, much like how she immediately clocks in S2E8 that Deborah is pushing her away because she’s afraid.
“It has to work. I’ve lost way too much for it not too” Deborah’s sentiment applies equally to Ava as it does to herself, and helps explain just why Ava would go to the the extremes she does later on
As much as the dialogue in the scene is great, this Deborah and Ava argument also hits hard because of the silent moments in between. The wordless ten seconds or so which rests entirely on Ava after Deborah says that she’s willing to lose her is just tremendous stuff from Hannah Einbinder, all the hurt plays across her face and Einbinder is simply terrific in making the audience feel the deep hurt and sense of betrayal of that moment
Ava saying that Deborah will die alone is something that Deborah has thought about before, saying back in S1E9 in her interview with a journalist that she accepts the truth that people leave the world completely alone and refuses to pretend otherwise
One Last Time - Deb’s Final Stand Up is the track which plays as the big Deborah/Ava argument scene closes out according to Shazam, with the track (that played in the S1 Finale) taking on a whole new meaning in this context. The soundtrack isn’t a big selling point of the show unlike something like say Succession, but the themes by Carlos Rafael Rivera are simple but always effective
Jimmy taking a selfie in his new office is quite cute, and him saying that he didn’t do it alone and comforting Ava at the end of this scene is a much needed nice beat after the intensity of the previous scene
“shows that already exist with one tiny tweak, or huge global hits” Honestly a pretty depressing but frankly accurate read of the current media/television landscape
Jimmy saying that he knows Ava will do the right thing brings to mind these Deborah lines to Ava from the previous episode “It’s so easy for you to say what’s right or wrong. It’s never that simple. One day you’ll understand that” Ava’s move of blackmailing to get Deborah to do right by her certainly falls into the “never that simple” category
Curious about the politics/legal behind the scenes stuff that needed to be cleared to have Deborah be the host of a CBS late night show in the world of Hacks, while Hacks the actual show is under Warner Bros. Discovery which does not own hacks. I guess in this universe Deborah gets the Late Late Show timeslot instead of Taylor Tomlinson with After Midnight
Deborah’s left Vegas but the vanity plate for her car will continue to follow her and be updated
Deborah excitedly taking a photo of her Host parking spot is very cute, but the beat immediately after when we see a hint of her being sad and uneasy/regretful is also great, she’s achieved her dream but at great personal cost, and has no one to share the photo and moment with
It’s been a central thesis of the show that Deborah and Ava are ultimately more alike than different despite their different ages, backgrounds etc. Even in S1E2 the antiques dealer says that Deborah and Ava are “the same” and are “both psychotic b*tches”, and in episode after episode we see just how alike they are. For example in S2E2 after Deborah finds out about the email she says that Ava is just like her, being equally cruel and selfish. Ava blackmailing her abusive boss so that she can continue to work with her is just a completely insane thing to do, and also very much something Deborah would do herself to help her career, as we saw back in S1E5 when Deborah blackmailed Marty to secure her dates at the Palmetto
This move also shows just how much Ava has learnt from Deborah and how much the student has learnt from the master. Ava takes Deborah’s advice from S2E8 to be a shark, and her advice from S3E5 to “concentrate on what’s best for you”. It’s also ends up becoming a twisted version of Ava saying that she won’t leave Deborah in that same episode too, with Ava resorting to blackmail to stay with Deborah. And Ava finally does what she said back in S2E8, which is that “I get to decide what’s best for me”. I love love love the layers to this show!
I love love love the cocky and slightly confident/smirking Ava that we get a brief glimpse of from this scene, coupled with the power suit she’s rocking it makes for such a satisfying moment as she gets one up over Deborah after being on the back foot previously
We’ve seen a different and more vulnerable side of Deborah this season in S3E5 and S3E7, and seen her be like a fangirl in S3E4, but this scene and her stepping up to Ava and slightly seething as she says “You wouldn’t” is a nice reminder that she can be absolutely terrifying when she wants to be
That tiny tiny little gulp that Hannah Einbinder does when/just after Ava says “I would” is so so good, Ava’s standing up to Deborah but Deborah is still one very scary person. Also really love her cocking her head to one side as she says “Wouldn’t you?”
This has already been pointed out on Twitter, but Deborah and Ava sitting apart in the writer’s room at the end is kind of like the pepper shakers which Deborah rearranged to be apart in S3E1. Also a nice contrast to S3E8 when they were sitting apart as Ava was reporting the journalist’s article to Deborah, even despite them sitting separately they were still very close emotionally, but now the physical distance between them is reflective of the division between them as friends/colleagues
Spoilers for Succession S2E10: This Hacks finale is very reminiscent of the Succession S2 Final This Is Not For Tears. In both episodes the older mentor who’s been trying to teach their protege/successor to be harder and tougher ends up being too good at their job and get betrayed by their mentee in a stunning rug pull moment, even though for much of the season it seems the mentee is perfectly content working undefor their mentor. It’s a plot twist that’s both completely shocking in the moment yet makes so much sense when looking back on the season and the series as a whole. And of course the finale ends on a shot of the older mentor as they take in what their mentee has done, with a mixture of anger but also just the slightest hint of pride and begrudging admiration
This final twist in the finale of Ava blackmailing Deborah is so so good and satisfying, does what great season finales do which is deliver a “twist” that feels like a gut punch initially but has actually been building over the season, and sets up a really juicy scenario/ status quo for next season
Ava blackmailing her way to head writer on Deborah’s show is such a juicy scenario to leave things for Season 4, Ava has never had power over Deborah like she does now and I’m personally very much looking forward to how that changes their dynamic next season
My only concern is that I do hope the Vegas aspect and the characters from that part of the Hacks universe don’t get left behind with the focus shifting to running a Late Night show. If there is something to ding this season of the show it’s that there’s not enough Kiki, I’m not smart enough to figure out how a Vegas casino dealer will be able to regularly show up in LA but I selfishly want the writers to figure that out because Poppy Liu is just too fun as Kiki to leave out. Also kind of curious as to how they’ll keep Marcus around since he’s now leaving Deborah’s QVC empire.
Overall a really really great season finale and a very strong season as a whole, easily the best Comedy of the year and one of the best shows of the year. Really rooting for the show to win big prizes at the Emmys later this year against the Bear although that will be tough, pulling hard for Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder to win and for the show to at least win Writing if it can’t win for Comedy Series. Also would be very happy if Meg Stalter and Paul W Downs got their first-time noms this year, they were both great this season

Okay people... I need to stop watching this for a while. My blood pressure is ticking up. I'll complete these notes in the morning.

We have been dating for 3 years. I (24m) have bad self-esteem. I barely can convince myself my girlfriend (21f) likes me. I have a lot to work on. That being said, a good chunk of the things my GF calls me out for doesn't exist, in my honest opinion. She appears to see a version of me I didn't know existed, with traits I don't think I have.
Examples:

1. She calls me a really bad sore loser. Now, I will focus on pool (8-ball) here because I play with her loads. I commend her amazing shots, praise her skills (she's better than me at pool) and congratulate her wins. I am a sore loser because I always want another game when I lose. I don't pressure (to my knowledge) but I always want to play again if I lose. That is her reasoning for me being a sore loser, and I pride myself on being able to acknowledge my opponent's skill when I lose and take responsibility for the loss.
2. I am inconsiderate. I don't recall details very well, and have a hard time keeping memory straight. I will jumble or switch details around. For example, my girlfriend might tell me she is working 8-4 tomorrow and 7-3 the next day. I will say to her "good luck for the 7-3 tomorrow" and she will get annoyed at me for not paying attention or listening (I am hard of hearing, completely deaf in one ear, mildly in another).
3. It is my fault that I don't hear her. Keep in mind, I don't wear my hearing aids around her because I hate wearing them. I detest my voice with hearing aids in and it makes me not want to talk. I hear too much and it overwhelms me, and you cannot cuddle with hearing aids on because they emit high-pitch squealing from the feedback & are just awkward in close contact. So I don't wear them around her (or any social occasion) because I am very good at managing to follow a conversation despite my disability (a lot of people don't believe I am hard of hearing after interacting with me). If I ask her to repeat or if I mishear what she wanted me to fetch, for example, and get something else, she will get annoyed. Visibly. And it's my fault. I don't want to wear hearing aids during my downtime/personal time. And much of that is spent with my girlfriend
4. We play videogames together and when I fumble or repeatedly fail at a sequence, she gets visibly annoyed. The other night, I kept failing to complete a time-trial task in a game and each fail would make her more irate and stupefied at my stupidity (She genuinely thinks I'm slow. I know I'm not but am very susceptible to the opinions of people whom I hold in high esteem). Note her getting visibly annoyed at me for something that I perceive as not warranting such a response makes me sad and moody (This IS a fault of mine, because I need to react better to people admonishing me, it is a bona fide toxic trait of mine)

TL/DR girlfriend will get very annoyed at me for what I consider to be innocuous personality traits or otherwise harmless faults of mine, and will conjure a caricature of myself that she thinks reality. How do I bring this up to someone that appears to look around me and not at me?
EDIT: To add to the hearing loss topic: she doesn't adjust her habits of talking to maximise what I will hear. What I mean by this is facing me with an uncovered mouth so I can lipread, and have her voice projected in my direction. When I ask to repeat what she said, she most often does it in an annoyed tone much faster than initially. So naturally I don't hear it. Then she yells whatever it was she said. This isn't a building-up of anger, this is something I've had an issue with from the start of the relationship, I just don't bring it up anymore because nothing changes. I could very well be in the wrong for not wearing my hearing aids, but I vehemently don't want to wear them. I much much prefer not wearing them.

THE EMERGENCE OF BIOLOGICAL COMPLEXITY
The vast reservoirs of carbon dioxide, silicon dioxide, oxygen, water, methane, and ammonia
molecules, present on the early Earth, would have been manufactured, sorted, combined and
refined by the planet itself; and would later serve as the raw materials for the planet-wide
production of more complex compounds, such as sugars, amino acids, fatty acids and other complex
carbon-containing compounds. In other words, on the early Earth, many of those inorganic chemical
compounds and the molecular structures they form would serve as the container (or beaker and
petri dish), fuel source (or Bunsen burners), reactant, catalyst and reagents for various complex
reactions (or syphoned-off, closed-off, pressurized and temperature controlled reactions) used for
the production of many basic organic compounds. Essentially, the natural convection and
geochemical mechanisms of the planet would only need to get certain specific light or gaseous
elements confined within certain reaction channels, pockets, or cavities, at or just below the Earth’s
surface, in the presence of certain natural catalysts and reagents, to start to create the very first
chemical permutations for biological life. This is because, spectroscopic analysis of organic
compounds and biological molecules (such as sugars, amino acids, and fatty acids) shows that, in
their most basic forms, all organic molecules comprise of some combination of just 11 specific light
elements, all of which would have been abundant within the lower atmosphere and upper crust of
the newly formed Earth.
Essentially, because of the specific chemical composition and energy orientation of the early Earth,
all variations of carbon-based life, at the molecular level, mainly contain six elements: oxygen,
carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, calcium, and phosphorus, with trace amounts of another five elements:
potassium, sulphur, sodium, chlorine, and magnesium. Which is why, the experiment conducted by
Stanley Miller and Harold Urey, in the 1950's, where they tested if organic molecules readily form
from simple inorganic compounds, used a closed system of gases, thought to be abundant in the
atmosphere of the early earth (namely, H2O, N2, NH3, and CH4). Importantly, for the main energy
resource, to aid or ignite the chemical reactions, they chose to simulate lightning by sending sparks
of electricity through the mixture. Then, after letting the experiment run for a week, Miller and Urey
found that various types of amino acids, sugars, fatty acids and other organic molecules emerged
within the mixture. However, no natural catalysts (such as clays minerals, metallic substances, or
phosphates) were used and as a result, no large complex polymer chains, such as proteins or RNA,
were formed within this mixture, but the experiment demonstrated that, at least, some of the
building blocks for life could form spontaneously from simple inorganic compounds, using
reasonable quantities of energy.
Therefore, in nature, the sequences of compounds, made from those 11 elements, that did not
immediately overheat and decompose back to their individual inorganic or elemental components,
and were able to remain stable, long enough, to merge into complex polymer chains, to become
proteins and lipids, would mark the start of bio-coherency on the planet. Where, under this notion
of bio-coherency the reactant for the newer reaction would mainly be comprised of the organic
compounds or strings of organic chemical information that were manufacture in the previous
reactions, microseconds earlier. This is because, the emergence of the first set of protein molecules,
would also make the arrival of enzymes, as well; as most enzyme are proteins that would allow ever
more complex polymer chains to be engineered or manufactured, and would allow more chemical
information and chemical energy to be stored within increasingly more complex chemical mixtures
and chemical systems. Additionally, these newly formed enzymes would be able to act as natural
catalysts (or Extremozyme), and thus would help many complex reactions to occur at much lower
activation energy levels, than they otherwise would in nature (as, enzymes are known to be able to
catalyse more than 5,000 biochemical reaction types), even at extreme temperatures. As such, the
emergence of life and biological complexity would about not only the quality and quantity of
chemical ingredients, but it would also be about energy availability, reaction activation levels,
chemical durability, and catalytic integrity, as well.
Furthermore, introducing a catalytic component to these mixtures would allow for faster and more
efficient reaction, and would allow for a more streamline ordination of the reactions that need to
occur in sequential order (or even concurrently). Essentially, the organic molecules or polymers that
emerged to take the place of inorganic mineral catalyst would quickly elevate the complexity and
efficiency of those enclosed mixtures, as they would not have to rely on constant outside refuelling
of catalytic components, instead they could simply make their own, in the right proportions, as
needed. As such, any protein or other polymer structure that reliable meet, those functionalities
would quickly attain significant dominants within the burgeoning mixtures. Which is why, ribonucleic
acid (or nucleotides) and amino acids (or peptides) became an indomitable part of all functioning
bio-chemical mixtures at the molecular level, as they are the chemical that possess the ability to
preserve both chemical information and catalytic information, within their overall arrangement and
overall molecular structural framework, shape, and orientation. Furthermore, ribonucleic acid, as a
polymer of nucleotides, functionally act as the sequencer that facilitates the polymerization of
amino acids into specific proteins. As such, the set of RNA molecules that possesses catalytic
properties to optimize (or that are able to recall and preserve the exact steps and components need
for) the production of organic compounds such as proteins would serve as the first type of genetic
code (or as a means of storing the chemical and catalytic identity of an enclosed mixture).
Consequently, the emergence of the first set of enzymes, which are the type proteins or other
polymers that can catalyse the creation of protein molecules, would facilitate the emergence of the
very first closed loop autocatalytic chemical mixture, which would represent a mixture containing
reactant and catalysts that were synthesized by and within the mixture itself. Additionally, the
existence of this catalyst-filled mixture running on reaction autopilot would facilitate or allow ever
more complex polymer chains to be engineered, or manufactured, within minutes if not seconds of
each other. Essentially, this would allow vast quantities of chemical information, or chemical energy,
to be stored within these increasingly more complex compounds, or chemical systems. Such that,
these chemical mixtures or chemical systems would conduct organic chain reactions on overdrive, as
the chemicals contained within them would be either the main ingredients and/or the means of
lowing the activation energy for future reactions, which would exponentially increase the likelihood
of specific types of reaction taking place. Therefore, the constituent parts (or catalytic substances
and substrates) within these dynamic mixtures would quickly evolve into more complex and large
polymer structures, which would allow them to acquire more functionalities, as well as more
physical properties, shapes and traits.
Importantly, it should be noted that given that unlike most inorganic catalyst, catalytic enzyme
cannot function in open / unprotected environments; as such, the emergence of lipids (which are
the complex polymer chains, or molecular chains, of fatty acids), would represent the emergence of
the very first partially insoluble molecular shells or membranes, that could enclose or wall-off
mixtures. Thus, the many little spherical pockets or oily bubbles create by lipid molecular shells
would serve as the very first maze-like multi-chambered multi-layered structures that could fully
enclose and insulate various chemical systems, or mixtures, of ongoing molecular reactions that
contain both catalytic enzymes and proteins. So, many of the reactions that were being catalysed by
proteins and enzymes would readily be protected from being directly exposed to the harshness of
the outside environment, like they would be if those reaction were solely occurring in underground
vents, rock channels and closed rock cavities (or in lakes or stagnant pools of water). As such, the
concurrent emergence of the carbon- containing compounds, or chemicals, known as proteins,
enzymes, and lipids would mark the point where new portable diffusion gradients, reaction
pathways, along with new pressure and temperature gradients could form on the early Earth.
Therefore, within those moments, thousands of new reaction types, or chemical combinations,
would start create fully functional Molecular Machines, designed to complete specific chemical and
physical tasks, while others would become Discrete Data storage units, designed to store specific
kinds of chemical information, within the 3-dimensional structure of their physical molecular chain.
Thus, some of these organic molecular machines and molecular structures would represent fully
functional sequences, or pockets of chemical information and they would preserve the accumulated
lineage of the chemical information once only held within the system that created them, while
others would preserve the properties, functionalities, chemical pathways, rules, protocols, and
syntax unique to those systems. As such, these units or pocket biological coherency, could be
defined ostensibly as an enclosed set of localized mixtures (or as a mesh of compounds) that exist
collectively to follow an existential set of algorithmic permutations (or axiomatic source codes),
written in, written on, or stored within carbon-based molecular compounds, or chemical molecules.
Where, those compounds would not only possess the ability to store information by virtue of their
arrangements, configurations, reactions, and interactions, but they would also possess the ability to
functionally read, compile, execute, and utilize, the multiplicity of chemical information, or chemical
energy, stored within the other molecules they come in contact with (or interact with). Therefore,
the life-like structures would represent bounded units of stored chemical information working
together in unison with or within various mechanical and chemical microsystems; where, catalytic
enzymes and lipids would actively, or continuously, help to reduce the activation energy levels
needed for certain reaction to occur, and to prevent premature halting caused by excess heat or
other external environmental pressures.
As such, with these lipid enclosed chemical pockets, reactions that once took days or even millions
of years to unfold naturally would now reach completion within microseconds; and, this jump in
complexity, and efficiency, would result in the creation more complex chemical entities such as
viruses, which toe (or straddle) the line between the living and non-living world. As, viruses are
portable chemical structures that are simply messenger catalysts / enzymes and proteins (or
chemical information) physically and chemically fused to, or encased within, a lipid shell (and can
simultaneously be view as nest of biological functionalities, or as inert chemical molecules stuck
together). However, unlike the limited chemical information and functionalities or properties stored
within individual lipids, proteins and enzymes, each virus’s amalgamated molecular structure would
possess a lot more functionalities and a lot more stored chemical information, when compare to the
basic polymers or organic compounds, or progenitors, that preceded them. Therefore, viruses would
represent one stratum up in the lineage of chemical structures manufactured by a concurrent
amalgamation of chemical mixtures that actively use energy to sequence and store information, and
that protect and insulate these pockets of chemical information from the inorganic world, or outside
environment.
Additionally, the syntax or sequences of chemical information (proteins, enzymes and catalytic RNA)
held within these viruses, would have the added functionality of being able to hijack the resources,
mechanisms and chemical infrastructures of other chemical systems, to derail, interrupt, or interfere
with many of their natural protocols and tasks. As, viruses would be able to chemically, or
genetically, introduce some of their own chemical information, catalytic instructions, RNA code and
mechanical sequences into other structures and mixtures, specifically through the existing chemical
pathways of the lytic and lysogenic cycle, which is the universal chemical syntax shared by all
biological entities. Which would allow viruses to functionally transport and actively facilitate the
exchanging of genetic material and catalytic tasks among the many lipid bound microsystems that
happen to be in close physical proximity to each other, or that possess very structurally similar lipid
membranes and can attract and attach to each other. Therefore, viruses would be the means
through which some isolated lipid bound chemical mixtures would place, preserve or package
segment of their existing catalytic information or catalytic instructions into portable pockets, for

only through those types of symbiotic relationships or genetic mergers amongst catalytic, viral,

form of sugars and/or ions, to prevent the its chemical death or thermal decomposition, then the

digestive enzymes; where, lysosomes destroy invading viruses and bacteria and break down excess
or worn-out cell parts, back to their non-living constituent parts. Therefore, the entities at the
bottom of the food chain would be the entities that were able utilize the energy that come directly
from the Earth or directly from the sun (sunlight), and were able to make direct use of the inorganic
and non-living chemical energy resources that came from metallic salt ions, hydrogen ions, carbon

Hired a concrete contractor to do 4' around my pool, two sidewalks, and an 8x8 patio. He finished the work suspicialy fast. Fast forward to a week later and it rains. We have water standing in at least two places. Then we start noticing the concrete isn't level at all. In some places, it feels like you are walking down hill, and other places are wavy. They didn't do expansion joints, they cut "expansion joints" after the concrete was completely dried. They also cut into my pool, popped off a seam cover (and did who knows what with it),and backed into my fence and broke it.
We made a complaint to the company owner and he came out. He told us that it's not his job to make sure the ground under the concrete is level. We also found out that before they poured the concrete, they didn't lay any gravel. Basically he told us to kick rocks.
I posted some pics on imgur, but it's really hard to tell how bad it actually is in the photos. Side note, my dog ran through the concrete before it cured completely and I find it endearing so I'm not upset about the paw prints.

• Gertie- A giant-sized sauropod dinosaur and the first ever drawn dinosaur featured on major film strips, created by Winsor McCay. Gertie also made a surprise cameo in the IDW comic adaptations of Dinosaurs attack!, and is in the public domain.
  
• Buddha- The giant buddha statue of "Great buddha arrival", a lost 1934 film that was later remade as a meta fictional documentary in 2018. as all media made before 1953 was ruled as "public domain" by japanese court law as of latest, the buddha (possibly the first ever JAPANESE KAIJU) is in the public domain. There are many other mediums out there that depict a giant buddha statue attacking, including Ninja gaiden Sigma 2.
  
• Paul bunyan and Babe the blue ox- A legendary duo from the folktales of Paul bunyan. Paul is a giant-sized lumberjack and Babe is his trusty Blue-colored Ox pet. Bunyan is a very well known figure of stories and has been featured in giant monster scenarios in some way (IE- the simpsons)
  
• Giant gila monster- From the 1959 film of the same name, the giant gila monster fell into public domain due to missing copyright notices (alongside its sister film, Attack of the killer shrews). Like the Comic book kaiju Reptisaurus, it was remade into a modern B-movie retake with more than questionable CGI. Fun fact: Giant gila is actually portrayed by a Mexican bearded dragon, not a gila!
  
• Golem- A giant clay figure of the Jerusalem folktales.
  
• Heffalump- A giant Elephant monster that exists solely in the dreams of none other than Winnie the pooh himself! as heffalump was introduced in "the house on pooh corner" (which entered public domain this year), he's free to use!
  
• Kong- King of the apes, ruler of man, and conqueror of the dangerous beasts of skull mountain island. While The RKO film remains in copyright until 2029, kong himself (and the story) is accidentally in the public domain thanks to a mistake with the original novella by Lovelace! Just try to avoid any mention trademark wise of "king kong" or anything not in the novel.
  
• Konga- King kong's estranged copycat cousin from britain, who is a mutated enlarged chimpanzee from the jungle instead of a naturally giant gorilla species. Konga suffers from the same slip up as some of charlton comic's other kaiju, as they were made before the films and ended up lapsing into public domain following the closure of the comic company. Konga in the comics is also considered distinct from the film version.
  
• Kraken- a legendary colossal sized Squid monster from Caribbean Sea folktales.
  
• Leviathan- A terrible sea serpent beast accounted in the books of hebrew and the bible.
  
• Yamata no-orochi: A multi-headed serpent and beast of Japanese mythology tales.
  
• Fafnir- A germanic legendary tale creature and serpentine beast.
  
• Micromegas- A giant-sized man from a 1700s french sci-fi novel who hails from another planet and engages in a slew of various fascinating feats.
  
• Twrch Trwth- A giant boar monster from the legendary tales of king arthur.
  
• Pulgasari- North korea's (unnecessary) answer to Godzilla and an iron-consuming behemoth. As copyright law was not established in NK until 2001, Pulgasari can safely be assumed to be in the public domain for free use. Additionally, his more archaic counterpart from a lost film "Bulgasari", exists in works.
  
• Pet- A mysterious, size growing Canid drawn by Winsor McCay that increases mass for everything it eats. It ends up giant size at its climax in the film.
  
• Scylla- The other half of Charybdis in greek mythology and a mysterious half-multiheaded serpent Half-reptile humanoid colossus.
  
• Umibozu- A japanese folklore monster, and a giant shadowy yokai.
  
• Meat-eater: A giant Tyrannosaurid species, also from the world of king kong. like kong himself, the meat eater is up for grabs thanks to the novel losing copyright.
  
• Jormungandr- A giant legendary serpent from the tales of H.P. lovecraft.
  
• Dagon- A giant legendary monster conjured up by H.P. lovecraft from the syrian folk myths.
  
• Jabberwock- A cryptic giant dragon monster from the novels of the original Alice in wonderland series. He lives to be slain by the Vorple sword artefact.
  
• Blunderbore: a giant from the tales of Jack the giant killer.
  
• MMX-2: A giant mechanical satellite from the premiere animation for Disney channel's opening. Both the poster and Disney channel broadcast lack copyright notices and as its based on the likeness of the original mickey mouse, this enigmatic mickey satellite could very well be up for grabs.
  
• Reptilicus- A danish-answer to godzilla, and later adapted by Charlton comics. This semi-comical serpent with stunted wings and stumped limbs is highly likely to be in the public domain due to either possible lack of copyright notice, or regardless a lack of a copyright renewal.
  
• Reptisaurus- Charlton comic's backup replacement over Reptilicus after their license expired. First starting out as a red colored version of Reptilicus until becoming a giant pterosaur-esque dragon monster, it like the other kaiju adapted by Charlton comics are in the public domain.
  
• Gorgo- The ever famous British take on godzilla, is in fact, IN the public domain. like Konga and kong, Gorgo was first introduced in a series of Comics made by charlton comics before the release of their staple films. As gorgo first appeared in the comics which entered the public domain, Gorgo is a fully free-to-use kaiju as long as you only source from the comic and not the film. Gorgo's abilities are much more robust in the comics anyway...
  
• Yeti: from the film "yeti: giant of the 20th century", an obvious Kong rip-off like Konga is also in the public domain. he's more human-looking.
  
• Mighty Peking man: Another Bootleg kong from a film that lapsed into public domain. Mighty Peking man looks more like a gorilla suit.
  
• Kabagon: A mysterious described japanese cryptid said to resemble a giant Grey hippo beast peaking its head out of the water.
  
• Green giant: Yes, the green giant is so old that he's actually public domain (and one of the only instances of a famous still used Business mascot having entered the public domain). So long as you don't use him strictly for misleading advertisements and trademark tricks, Green giant is freely useable in stories. Green giant vs. Gorgo anyone?
  

Bonus:
The Retrosaur lineages of TyrantisTerror: Tyrantis terror (a kaiju artist with his own website and novella) has fully offered up their basic lineages of the giant dinosaur kaiju "retrosaurs" into the public domain, since they are technical blankish templates inloosely following into the kaiju he owns (also, its possible for people to willingly put things they own whether copyrighted or intellectual property into the public domain). Backstory: Hilbert comes from a family of sorcerers but never had any interest in being one himself due to the danger and complications of such a life, preferring to indulge in his hobbies. After people close to him were badly hurt, he became a jujutsu sorcerer to help protect them. When starting out as a sorcerer he was inexperienced and lacking in multiple fields which he made up for with his CT and DE.
Shikigami Creation: The Black Family’s cursed technique revolves around creating new shikigami. Because of Hilberts love for and familiarity with Pokémon, that is the form in which his shikigami take.
Cursed Technique:Shikigami Creation: Hilbert can summon one random Pokémon to fight by his side. He can customize their set(their moves, ability, evs, ivs, nature, and item). The randomized aspect is part of a binding vow he made in order for his pokemon ally to become stronger than normal in exchange for the summoning to be random.
Domain Expansion:Cursed League Victors: This domain takes the form of a Pokémon tournament battlefield of which Hilbert can decide what setting he wants it to be. When within this domain, nobody can attack anybody. Only two people can be on the field at a time, the caster and whoever the caster chooses to be their opponent. Any other individual caught up in the domain is sent to the stands to watch the battle until it’s either their turn to fight or the domain is extinguished. This domains sure hit effect is not an attack but a basic explanation as to how Pokémon, moves, abilities, ivs, evs, held items, field conditions, and status conditions work. Each player is given a chance to make a team of 6 pokemon. They cannot use the same pokemon twice however. There are three matches. Once the first match ends, whoever wins will get their Atk, Def, SpA, SpD, Spe, CE Pool, CE Output, CE Regeneration and critical hit ratio maximized(multiplied by 4) and a fight will ensue. Atk is someones raw strength and damage they do with physical attacks, SpA is how much damage they do with ranged attacks, Def and SpD is how well they resist the corresponding attacks, Spe is their overall combat, reaction, and movement speed, and critical hit ratio is the capability of landing a black flash. Whoever wins the fight will get one out of three points and this will be repeated until someone gets two points. If they win the second Pokémon battle phase, they can pick their Pokémon ally. Once they get two points, all spectators will turn against the loser. If there are no spectators, the winner gets two Pokémon allies and a third fight will begin. Every combat round has a 5 minute timer. If the timer runs out and both participants are still alive, neither fighters are given a point and they will be healed and have a rematch. If someone does die before the round ends, the domain is exhausted.
Cursed energy attribute: Whatever pokemon Hilbert summons, his cursed energy takes on the type of the summoned pokemon. Basic cursed energy has dark type properties. Every type follows its battle properties in the pokemon games against cursed energy, techniques, and spirits. For example, if hilberts, cursed energy is ground type, he will take no damage from electricity, deal 2x damage against fire, steel, poison, electric, and rock based things, deal 1/2 damage against bug and plant based things, receive 2x damage from water, grass, and ice based things, and receive 1/2 damage against poison and rock based things. Hilbert can use one move of his choice that shares the type he takes on. They can also take up any ability and item they want. If the users Pokémon ally has two types, they can use two moves.
Type effects: Fire:Has a 30% chance to burn opponents, burns burn away at their body, and halves their physical damage and ce output. Deals 2x damage in the sunlight and half in the rain.
Water:Deals 2x more damage in the rain and half in the sunlight. The user can also breath and swim faster in water.
Grass:Heals the attacker by half the damage dealt upon contact.
Electric:Has a 30% chance to paralyze opponents which cuts their speed in half and occasionally prevents them from moving completely.
Psychic:Users attacks have a 30% chance to inflict opponents with confusion.
Ice:Has a 30% chance to freeze opponents, rendering them completely immobile for a period of time and a 30% chance to inflict frostbite, reducing special attack damage and ce output by half.
Dragon:Users base stats rise.
Dark:Users attacks have a 30% chance of putting targets to sleep.
Fairy:Reverses users cursed energy. Immune to dragon/reptile based cursed phenomena.
Normal:User is immune to physical attacks from the reanimated but cannot damage them directly either.
Fighting:Gains proficiency in all forms of combat. Attacks have a 30% chance of flinching opponents.
Flying:User can fly around freely. Immune to earth based cursed phenomena.
Poison:Has a 30% to badly poison opponents which deals more damage as time passes.
Ground:Attacks lower targets accuracy.
Bug:Has a 30% chance to inflict an infestation which deals damage over time.
Ghost:Immune to attacks that are both not imbued with cursed energy and not from a reanimated individual.
Steel:Users durability increases greatly.

Introduce more tempering recipe.
Move all of Skill enhancement into their own recipe instead of grouping them together based on skill types(Basic, Core, Agility).
This will narrow down the odd of getting the affix that we want while at the same time still keep the rolling/hunting aspect of it.
Instead of having a 20%(1 in 5) chance of getting Heartseeker Projectiles Cast Twice out of a pool where the other 4 options is useless to the build, increase the chance to 50%(2 in 4) by moving all Heartseeker enhancement into it's own recipe and adding other useful enhancement.
For example,
Instead of current "Basic Augments - Rogue", where we have a pool of

• Chance for Puncture Projectile to Cast Twice
• Chance for Heartseeker Projectile to Cast Twice
• Chance for Forceful Arrow Projectile Cast Twice
• Invigorating Strike Duration
• Heartseeker Duration

Let us have something like "Heartseeker Augments - Rogue" with pool like

• Chance for Heartseeker Projectile to Cast Twice
• Chance for Heartseeker to Knock back Enemy
• Heartseeker Duration
• Heartseeker Size

Of course the enhancement and value number can be tuned further for balancing purpose. I hope you guys can consider this suggestion.

Hello all you beautiful mothers. I joined this sub a long time ago and I really enjoy it because I feel all of your struggles and pain and have found some answers to issues I have had on here, as well. I'll make this as quick as possible but most of this is just your regular 'ole momma venting, but I am hoping I get at least another momma or 2 who has been where I am with some helpful advice.
My daughter turned 3 in March and it seemed like all hell broke loose right after her 3rd birthday. We had a touch of the terrible 2's, but nothing I couldn't handle. The horrible 3's are in full force and I am terrified. You can judge me all you want but I do not spank my child. The most I have done is smack her hand if she was about to touch something that could harm her to let her know that it was bad and would hurt her. Never as a punishment. Time out doesn't seem to work but even if I do it I have to sit her on a tall stool because if this kid doesn't want to do something, she absolutely will not do it and that includes sitting still for time out. I have started taking away favorite toys and having her earn them back which seems to work the best but not always. She's finally starting to catch herself though. Say if she gets angry and wants to hit, she may hit once or twice but then catches herself and will stop and give me a kiss or a hug.....so some improvement there. She doesn't always do it but it is a start. When she does get angry I try to let her get it out of her system but not on me or any person obviously, because I know she has a lot of big complex feelings and emotions in her tiny body and it will take time for her to navigate it and I'm trying my best to help her. She is still very sweet and loving at times and has great manners at least. But I feel like I'm failing.
She does NOT listen to me AT ALL. I've never seen a toddler think they know everything. I try so hard to teach her things but she immediately cuts me off and goes off trying to do what I'm teaching her, only to get angry because she doesn't know what she's doing or how to do a certain task. She is pretty good at teaching herself certain things and I'm very proud of her for that. We just moved to an apartment complex with a pool and we strapped a floaty vest on her and she just took off swimming like it was so natural for her. Maybe that's a natural thing for babies/toddlers in general though, but I feel like I had to be taught. I don't know how to teach her when she won't listen to me. I try to make games out of things and just make most of anything tedious fun for her but her attention span only lets that work for no more than probably 5 minutes.
My biggest concern though is her eating habits. This kid does not eat. She still wants milk most of the day. Last summer she drank water all the time and barely drank milk. Now we are the opposite. She hardly drinks juice. She used to not like much sugary stuff, but we stayed with my parents for a couple of months while waiting for my partners job to start where we moved far away and I feel like I'm trying to unbreak bad habits that were picked up there. My mom looooves being a grandparent, but she is the sneak her sugar sometimes and won't tell her no for anything grandma. Even if she murdered someone my mom would be like "it's fine! It happens" or some crazy stuff like that. She played with her constantly, which is nice, but then she would make me feel like a shitty parent if I wasn't constantly playing with her when I WFH and need to get hours in. So instead of getting the fun grandparent visit where this wouldn't have been a problem, she got that treatment consistently for a few months.
So here we are over 1,000 miles away from family and everyone we know. My partner works midnights so I'm left to fend for myself 80-90% of the time with no help or breaks trying to unbreak these habits and navigate her wild emotions and extreme stubbornness. I've figured out her biggest issue is texture with food. I have this problem, too. She has never liked eggs, even though I keep trying them every few months. She used to eat watermelon and strawberries at least, she will eat NO fruit or veggies now. Just chicken nuggets, fries, french toast, and goldfish. Now the nuggets and fries are starting to become less and less. I let her have cereal once in a blue moon. She quit eating oatmeal. I've tried soups with her, smoothies, everything I can think of. Our pediatrician just told us to keep making her food and put it in front of her and she will eventually try it. So far she's tried maybe two things. She has to feel the food before she even licks it to see if she will eat it. Again, I've made games and incorporated some playtime into eating along with her helping to "cook" her own meals with me because she seems more likely to try things that way. Now that's no longer working. We bought a book "Try Just One Bite" that she loves but is not getting through to her. She won't even eat gummies anymore for vitamins so I'm having to buy Pediasure Grow & Gain to sneak in her milk to get her the vitamins and nutrients she obviously isn't getting from food. That stuff is expensive.
I've been potty training for what feels like a freaking year. Literally. We started a little after 2 and she wasn't ready at all. Then one day around 2 and a half she watched a YouTube video on potty training and suddenly became very interested. So we started hardcore then. She did ok and then started pulling away from it. So again, I tried to make it fun. When that lost her interest and stopped working, I got desperate and started bribing her with suckers just to sit on the potty. If she actually used it, she got a surprise. She was consistent mostly for almost a full week when I thought we almost had it, then she just stopped. She absolutely refused to sit on the potty. Nothing had changed. I don't know what in the world made her just refuse. I'm pretty sure I tried everything to get her back on it to no avail. Failure for me once again.
She did this with walking, as well. She started taking off at a normal age and then just quit. She started walking on her knees and she did this for MONTHS. We had to buy adult elbow pads to put on her knees because this kid could RUN on her knees. Her pediatrician wanted to get her into PT...I used to be a PTA that worked with kids for years and I saw nothing wrong but her doc had me so worried. Then right before PT got set up because we were moving around due to my partners job, she just up and started walking like she's been doing it straight out of the womb a few months before she turned 2. It's like everything she does is on her time. That's where we are on potty training. She just quit. She fully understands it and knows when she needs to go. She just fights like hell because she doesn't want to do it, or will try to manipulate me to get a sucker and sit on there without actually using it just so she can get a sucker. I sit her down and try to have talks with her. I asked her if she is going to give the potty a try again and I would buy her a big surprise if we could only use the potty and get rid of diapers and her response was "not yet!" haha.....what?! I asked her why not yet. No response. I don't even think she knows why. My mom told me to try "shaming" her....like every time she goes in her diaper to say things like "shame on you" or "awwwmmm shame for shame" or some weird stuff like that. But I can't do it. It doesn't feel right to shame a freaking baby essentially.
Also having this problem with brushing her teeth. She used to love brushing her teeth. She didn't mind when I helped her with it, then one day about a month ago she decided she hated it and didn't want to do it. So now she no longer brushes her own teeth and fights me like hell when I have to do it. I have to hold her down to do it because I don't ever want her having bad dental hygiene like I did as a kid. I can't hold her down on the potty or force feed her. Maybe I could hold her on the potty but I truly feel like she would just become more resentful and it would take even longer to get her fully trained.
I am in the process of finding a moms group where I am so she can get some social interactions with kids her age and am looking into signing her up for ballet because she loves dancing. I'm hoping maybe that will help...? Maybe if she spends enough time with other kids that are possibly potty trained it will help her want to do it, as well. Or that kids her age eat other foods besides goldfish and like it she will give new things a try. I've showed her videos online of kids smaller than her using the potty and kids eating healthy foods but it doesn't phase her either. Still refuses unless she gets something out of it for basically nothing. But maybe socialization with kids her age is what's missing and what she really needs and can hopefully help with some of these issues.
I'm just at a loss. I have a 13 year old boy who is back home with his dad because he is constantly playing sports. He was so easy as a toddler. I know all kids are different and do things at different paces and try not to compare, but they are literally night and day. I never had to tell him no more than twice and if I tell her no she will push my buttons harder and see how far she can push me. And due to living with my parents for those few months, she got used to constantly having attention. If I wasn't playing with her, her dad was off work and could play and take her to do fun things or my mom or dad played with her. I can't give her attention 24/7. It's impossible with me trying to work. I didn't get many hours in last week because I made sure to spend more time with her, which I don't regret and would rather spend more time with her than worry with work. But mentally I can't do it all the time to be honest and it makes me feel guilty. I feel like it's important for her to play alone sometimes and build her imagination, but it's rare she does. And when she does, she doesn't play for long. She thinks she needs me to play with her and I just can't all the time. I just need a good long break for some real me time or to decompress and that makes me feel guilty, too. Feeling like a failure even more.
Apologies for the length. Thanks so much if you made it this far. I can never keep anything short haha. I just feel like I'm failing my child miserably and feel so stuck. I'm getting burnt out and exhausted. She still doesn't sleep through the night either so that doesn't help. Just mostly needed to vent and see if anyone else ever feels this way? Or if anyone made it to the other side of a very picky and stubborn child with success?
