Horrible sleep yet again, I feel so tired but my anxiety is keeping me up again. My stomach has this weird sensation in it. It feels like butterflies when I am on a rollercoaster.
My head also hurts, I don’t know why. It’s at the top of my head and I’m afraid that my arteries will get blocked by the cholesterol or they’re thinning ans I will get a brain aneurysm. Either way is horrible honestly. It’s at the top of my head which is a really odd place to feel pain in. I have had this sensation before, that was when I went off coffee for a day.
Maybe the veins are just expanding due to the lack of use of coffee today. Usually I drink it at 10 but I did not do that today. And coffee is known for making the walls more confined. It constricts them causing the blood pressure to elevate.
It’s not the sensation is just weird at the top of my head. Only at the top? Maybe I am dehydrated but I don’t see as hot how that would be the cause because I had water right before sleep. It’s a mild pulsation maybe I can just try to sleep it off?
I am still pissed by the way. Go fuck yourself.
Update: 11:51 No, I can feel my heartbeat through my brain veins now. Just great that is what I need after getting up to pee a f drink water. My mouth still feels very dry even though I drink a lot of water. It’s on one side now, on my left side where my forehead is. It’s pulsating and I can feel my heartbeat through that pulsation. I am tired, go fuck yourself.

To summarise, I was attempting the poetry question (section B) about the theme of being alone in HPT and one other poem. I had set myself around 50-55 minutes for this question bcz I wanted to maximise my marks on it since i was pretty confident with the pairing. So basically I finished all the 6 pages we were given in approx. 50 mins and that was when I asked an invigilator for extra paper.
However, they told me that they weren't supplied with any extra paper and therefore I couldn't write any more This went against everything that my teachers, friends, and school told me so I immediately asked them to call the lead examiner. I wasn't too surprised because a similar incident had happened in my bio exam a few days earlier (but that didn't end up too bad bcz I only had a few extra lines to write).
Once the exam supervisor arrived, he said the same thing and told me Edexcel hadn't provided them with any extra sheets. I was getting quite nervous and frustrated and after numerous appeals, the head examiner told me to write my remaining response on the last page for section C (which was Of Mice and Men for me).
I tried to appeal and tell him that this would confuse the examiner and my response would be messed up but he wouldn't listen and considering that I had already wasted a few precious minutes during this conversation, I decided to listen to him.
So then i wrote an additional paragraph and a short conclusion on the last two pages given to use for Section C. I had labelled it as a continuation of the poetry question and had also written: GO TO THE LAST PAGE FOR CONTINUATION on the bottom of the last page for poetry. However, it was quite small and very cramped and messy so i'm worried the examiner might miss it and won't mark it.
the reason im scared is bcz my summary was rly good and it basically links everything which I analysed so without it I may not get a good mark. Also, the last two pages were kinda muddled up so my 5th paragraph was on the last page and my conclusion was on the second last page.
After the exam, I told this to my mother (who is an invigilator herself) and she met the head examiner herself and raised the issue with him. He confirmed that there would be no issues during marking. Surprisingly, another invigilator told us that they had extra paper all along and that there must have been a big misunderstanding (which I don't believe, i think it was a case of blatant laziness and ignorance).
Regardless, my parents raised this issue with senior members of the british council in my city (as i'm a private candidate) and they promised to get this issue fixed. However, I'm still worried about if the examienr would discredit those 1 and 1/2 pages which I wrote and if he was able to read my continuation message at the bottom of the page.

As a new grad you hear all the time, and for good reason, that you will make mistakes. I feel like that topic isn’t talked about nearly as much once you’ve been doing this for a while. I’ve been a nurse for five years and have worked at 4 hospitals (first job three years).
My example: for my first three years that hospital had us scan both the antibiotic and the bag that it was reconstituted in, to cross check the volume, so I became very accustomed to that second check. I’ve been at my current hospital for a few months and for the first time grabbed the wrong concentration to reconstitute (100 instead of 50) and ran the med. of course as soon as I realized this I told my charge and contacted pharmacy about it. Pharmacy essentially said it wasn’t a problem. I feel terrible about it, obviously I should have double checked what was in my hand. Not an excuse but for one thing, the 100 bags were stocked in the wrong place where the label read 50cc bags, and it was a very hectic beginning of shift with little help available.
One of the hospitals i previously worked at had an initiative about aiming for zero error rate which of course in theory is great, but I think it puts an unrealistic pressure on us. I think most of us in this profession are already aiming for that, have high standards, and tend be very hard on ourselves for the percentage of human error that does occur.
I feel that nurses are often too proud and/or ashamed to talk about that percentage of error they make simply because we are human. Perhaps some have never made a mistake, and perhaps some have but have never caught it.
Is this just part of our culture? Would it help to talk about it more? Am I likely being too hard on myself?

I’m 21M always been very active my whole life, not really been super overweight or labeled obese, I’m currently 240-250. I’m tall so I tend to be a little heavier anyways. My main concern is that I’ve had left chest pains, arm pain, fatigue, and also my veins on my left wrist act weird since early April 2022. It all started after throwing a football with my left hand. I’ve been to the ER once and they labeled it anxiety, I am indeed diagnosed with severe anxiety and depression, I also have asthma too, but I stopped taking medication for all them . I have only 1 relative who had any heart related issues and it was my grandfather on my mothers side, he had open heart surgery but he was already in his 50s or 60s , so no genetic problems are linked. Just looking for feedback or any input on this I’m really concerned, the thought of heart failure scares me.
A little note,these pains sometimes go away for 2-3 months.

Hey - knew to this! I'm a 39/F. I just had my UFE 2 1/2 days ago. I had mine done by an Interventional Radiologist/ Vein Specialist MD with 30 years of experience and I'm really glad i went with that option. I didnt ask my obgyn or anyone else what to do as an option for fibroids i just went online and researched all my options and found a Vein and Vascular Center that performed the UFE procedure as an outpatient that had great reviews. I had twilight sedation which i like better than anesthesia because i don't like waking up all drowsy and frankly it scares me. They gave me a mix of fentanyl and something else and it was easy peasy. I only felt the needle going in stomach for numbing (mild) the pelvic area and also when i think they removed the catheter out of the artery (i think) that one irritated me slightly. I really wasn't sure what was going on i was just in my own little world lol. They didn't give me a catheter in my urethra however, so not all places will do that for the procedure. Post op they gave me antibiotics. The whole procedure took about 40 mins but it felt like 15 mins or less. Afterwards was sooo rough. Until i got my prescription for the oxy/ibuprofen i was in excruciating pain. But once i took those i was ok. My advice is to pick a pharmacy close by to where the clinic is! I was silly and traveled an hour to pick up at a pharmacy near my home (but i didn't know the pain would be so intense). Some say on here worst than contractions. I have never been pregnant so idk. Also, my IR told me that chances of pregnancy after UFE are highly likely. It just depends on where your fibroids are so definitely ask that question.

Hello, it's my first time entering this subreddit and coming to think about it, this conflict really. I live in Toronto and of non-Middle Eastern background, so much of our media covering the conflict is painted in a way that Israel is the victim and Hamas is the perpetrator and vice versa, therefore leaving a very ambiguous grey zone. Before I go on, I must inform you that I have very little knowledge to the conflict itself and the history behind Israel and Palestine, so sorry in advance if I offended you in any way.
So when Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, news outlets informed the public in a way that Israel was the victim. The next following days, protests were held at campus in support for Palestine, many of which were large and often times disrupting many people from moving anywhere. When I asked my lab partners (one of whom is an international student from Saudi Arabia, and two are Canadians following Islam) about the conflict, and why people are supporting Hamas despite them attacking first, I was called ignorant. I was taken aback since none of them told me any historical context and later told me that I was a zionist for not expressing my support. I retorted back to them that they never expressed any support for Ukraine, Hong Kong, the BLM movement, and the Indigenous people when their conflicts were huge. They proceeded to say that Israel is purposefully killing Palestinians and water down the Russian-Ukraine conflict as territorial expansion.
The term zionist felt off because since October 7, I've seen pro-Palestinians toss that word around with no clear definition (and I don't trust Wikipedia). So in my views, anyone is a zionist if the person a) has origins in Israel, b) is Jewish, c) not showing support for the protests, or d) anti-Hamas. University colleagues I follow on Instagram who were in support of Palestine spent the next following months repost horrific tragedies about the conflict on their stories, and while I felt sympathetic for their side, also felt annoyed at how often they're posting it. I am too afraid to say anything to them with the fear that I am pro-genocide when really I just want to watch a manatee video without any worries in the world. Same goes with TikTok. The amount of posts I've seen with comment sections filled with pro-Palestinian comments regardless of the post's relevancy to the conflict is both infuriating and annoying. For example, the Oscars, despite their controversies, had posted a video featuring a Pow Wow during the ceremony, a huge milestone in Indigenous representation. The comment section? "Yazan Kafarnah would have enjoyed this." Lady Gaga held a concert in Israel in 2013? "Blocked. All eyes on Rafah." A literal middle income American family making a seafood boil? "Children in Gaza could have been eating that." I understand many of the comments are pushing and sharing awareness on the conflict, but at this point it's so oversaturated that it feels almost forceful and tiresome because on one hand, yes Israel is targeting civilian areas, but on the other hand, you are telling me to block Lady Gaga just because she had a concert in Israel 11 years ago when no one protested at home or gave attention to the tensions.
Same goes with protests in the city. While many of them were peaceful and had good intentions, many also tend to sour the movement and cause. Near December around the winter break, a protest gathered near Zaras and after evolving into a riot when police were involved, some people chanting "death to the Israelites." Same goes with February this year when protests were marched down Hospital Avenue (nicknamed after the establishments of 4 hospitals on a single avenue, creative I know), most hospitals were unbothered except for the Jewish-founded hospital (Mount Sinai) where protesters obstructing entrances and exits, which is illegal, with some chanting antisemitic rhetoric while also waving the Palestinian flag on the property. I have family in Montreal who are Jewish (by marriage) who fear going to school and visiting the local synagogue after reports of shootings and stabbings near their place of worship, places that were supposed to be sanctuary to them. These protests were so severe that even the Prime Minister and mayors had to condemn them and label these protests as antisemitic. We can all acknowledge that the examples are from extremist views and that the majority of supporters would condemn these protests (I hope), or that I am cherry-picking. However, I have yet to see a Pro-Israel protest in person that does not include some online troll trying to toss fuel into the conflict on social media. I don't know, over these past months I was and still condemn genocide, however my support for Hamas never existed and felt Israeli-leaning as I started on a neutral stance, again, ambiguous grey zone. It's really hard for me to explain it but it follows along the lines of "I support you, I see you, but there's nothing I can do." I'm not surprised if I get a bombardment of downvotes since this whole post is biased in some way, I admit, but I am genuinely curious and want to know more.

after 4, painful years, i’m finally graduating high school with the class of 2024. i initially didn’t expect to get any sort of achievement when i do, but last night, my dad told me i’m graduating magna cum laude within the top 15% while possessing a 98 GPA.
i’ll admit—i was proud of myself for a while. i told my few friends, and was excited to get my chord next friday during graduation rehearsal. my mom even sent me a text on messenger (she currently lives in another country) saying how happy she was for me, and that i deserve it with all of my hard work.
but weirdly enough, i didn’t know where my parents got this information, so i asked my mom to show me where she found the news. she then sent me a link to a website containing the program for my high school’s graduation of 2024. i read the stuff on it, and then scrolled down to the section containing all the students graduating with some sort of achievement, and i looked for my name. i was in fact graduating magna cumlaude.
but as i continued to look through the list of students, i ended up finding people (mainly a couple of ex-friends i drifted apart from) getting higher achievements than me. i had a friend graduating summa with NHS (expected—he’s a smart ass), and another two who didn’t take as much ap classes as me but are still graduating magna WITH honors too.
a large part of me felt crushed.
i already expected the guy with summa to, well… get summa because that guy was never short of telling people about his achievements (it always pissed me off). but i knew my other two previous friends as people who always asked ME for academic advice. yet, somehow, they got one-up on me when they’re graduating with an additional honor student title apart from just magna cum laude.
and i know what everyone’s gonna say—OP, you’re a jealous bitch who’s always comparing yourself to other people, but the thing is, I never wanted to be that way. I was happy knowing I was magna, and i wasn’t that active around school clubs and shit anyways, so of course i wouldn’t be labeled as some honor student. it’s my fault that i ended up in this position and couldn’t achieve anything but magna cum laude, but i still can’t shake that fact that i was dubbed less.
i hate that every single time i get something i’m supposed to be proud of, i do a 180 a few hours later and cry about it like i’m some sort of failure; that i didn’t just achieve something great because i didn’t do a good enough job.
just last school year, i was pissed off at my school for giving me a perfect attendance award, and i didn’t go to the ceremony because i thought it was the most pointless, pitiful award you could get. then, when i was a part of my school’s paella team, we one 3rd place in a very hard paella competition—the first time our school has placed—and i still felt like a fucking loser who could’ve helped my team better.
this school year, i won an art competition for a ceramic flower sculpture i had made for my beginners art class. i got a medal and almost got a perfect score with only 2 points off, but when i heard someone else in my class only had 1 point off, i never looked at my medal the same again. finally, when i got an award for academic excellence (having a 97< GPA), i told myself it wasn’t that special because so many other students got the same award, and even better awards on top of that.
and here am i once again, crying about my magna cum laude bullshit.
i just don’t get it. i’m always unhappy. i’m always unsatisfied. i always feel inferior after looking at everyone and everything i see. i’ve even went as far as skipping senior photos, skipping yearbook photos in general, skipping prom, and skipping senior sunset because my biggest issue was my myriad of insecurities involving my inability to stop comparing myself to other people. i know i’m never gonna be as great as some of the other students out there, but i feel like i should still be proud of myself considering what i achieved, even though i physically and mentally can’t. i live every day thinking im a fucking failure contributing no real impact to this world, while i wait for myself to pass away with no one to remember my name.
