I’d love to hear from barestauarant managers or owners on their justification for serving Guinness in a 16oz US pint glass.
I visited an “Irish” themed bar today in Chandler, AZ called Murphy’s Law and despite the plastered Guinness marketing everywhere on the walls, I received a bubbly Guinness in a 16oz US pint glass.
Why open an Irish themed bar, or even serve Guinness, if you lack the common sense to use a proper glass. If it’s a money thing, there are plenty of non-branded Irish Imperial Pint Glasses that are economical and would do the job just fine.
This baffles me to this day. Distributors should be ashamed of themselves for allowing their Guinness to be served in establishments who use shit glassware. I’d figure this would be a requirement to even serve Guinness.
Yes, I understand that the average American consumer probably doesn’t care, or even know, but if you’re going to serve a special draft beer, do it the right way.
This is like ordering a martini up and receiving it in a rocks glass.

I was recently hired by a septic company in AZ, upon arrival at this job someone that worked in the back office asked me if i would like to be paid under the table or if i would like to be a W-2 Employee, I answered W2 Employee and continuously asked for Tax documents and paperwork for me to sign but they always deferred me and said the office manager would have me sign it when she came back to the office. I was employed with this company for 10 days total and signed no tax paperwork, and i never met the office manager before the owners decided to let me go because they simply “did not need me”. I am a young single mother so this came as a complete suprise to me, i was given one paycheck on March 8th that was $390 dollars and then my last paycheck on March 13th where they let me go for $300. During my time there i had logged 45 hours from March 4th- March 8th. I suspect i have not been paid in full by this company and was let go due to not wanting to be paid illegally under the counter. I am wondering if there is any legal action i should seek at this time, to collect the money i worked for or even something else. They wrote me a check for $855 just to get me to get off their case, is there anything more i can do?

I was arrested about 3 weeks ago in April and was charged for theft of lost property in az. I have accepted a full-time job with a company in new york and im really worried because of my background check is in the first week of june. My criminal attorney said that my charge woul likely be dismissed but it'll still be on going for a while. I don't know how my company's is going to react to this pending charge. Should I bring this up with my employer asap before the background check or after?

Using a throwaway account for reasons. There are also some details whether seemingly important or not that I am omitting for brevity--this is strictly about the subject and the future.
To begin, and to drive right into the complications, I am currently going through a divorce. I was married for 3.5 years or so after being with stbxw for 9 years. We grew through our 20s together and while things were fine in our early 20s we had a lot of issues as we started transitioning into adults. I started a new job last fall and my past relationship with soon to be ex wife was already falling apart and we were also attempting to recover from an affair she had with our old neighbor, she was still having the affair after promising and lying. I am quickly moving on and deserve better. I always was loyal to my wife. Though, we have a 4 year old daughter and spontaneous triplet boys who are about a year old together to boot which is crazy. We started the divorce this past winter.
To back-track, within a month of my new job, which started last summer working as a project manager, a new project coordinator I was partnered with joined the company. We will call her Elle. This woman is insanely out of my league. She is insanely beautiful, smart, kind, mature, etc. and we quickly bonded over the fact that we both lost a parent in the past, my mom in 2014 and her father in 2015. Elle and I formed a strong friendship within our team and I started observing that she cared about my issues quickly.
She is from Chicago and kind of moved out here (AZ) to be with her boyfriend of 2 years or so whom she has a weird broken relationship with. Elle and I quickly got along, we shared similar senses of humor, some similar interests, I found that we had a growing chemistry throughout the fall. Around Thanksgiving and throughout December I started missing her quite a bit--I started noticing within myself that emotional and physical feelings were growing for her. I noticed that we were flirtatious at work quite often and that we had this insane connection when we locked eyes with each other. We were incredibly professional, always were, however it was becoming obvious in the office that we liked each other. A lot.
It was obvious what we were feeling for each other, so in December I confessed to her about how I was feeling and we quickly found that it was very mutual. Obviously there are complications here--I was starting a divorce and she lives and has a relationship with her boyfriend, and he tracks her.
Stbxw is a bit crazy to boot, and the fact that I have children with her is also complicated. However, for the past 4-5 months, Elle and I have kind of ignored our issues. We started coming in earlier and staying later together, getting coffee all the time together. We started hanging out after work parked in the garage and I would buy a bottle of wine and we'd hang out for hours drinking together. Getting really physical at job sites if we were alone. Things were escalating quickly. We started getting physical, making out, tried sex once but the issue for both of us is that she is essentially cheating on her boyfriend no matter how desperately we wanted it. Which is ironically what happened to me with my past relationship. I was just on the other side of it now.
We couldnt help it, our chemistry is really strong and I found myself thinking about her all the time, missing her, wanting to be with her. Same with her. We were sexting a lot and insanely flirtatious. We fell in love with each other. It kept getting stronger. We started talking about actually being in a relationship, hell, even talking about marriage and kids and shit. It was really intense and escalating quickly. She started asking for me to "be patient with her" and that "soon" we would be able to actually start dating, that she "needed to get out and deal with her situation on her own". We were constantly talking about a future together--things were getting serious. Hell, I even bought a nice ring for her as a token of my promise that I am hers. She wasnt, so she says, sleeping with her boyfriend, something I was getting a lot of intrusive thoughts about, we were waiting for each other. I toured an apartment with her as she was planning to move out, i could tell she didnt like it though, was homesick, and i talked to her about moving in with me which at one point was agreed on. But again, complicated.
Early March was the first "real" discussion we had about things though, as January and February were filled with those moments above. It was serious--she felt incredibly guilty for cheating on her boyfriend, saying she was a bad person, confused why she was doing what she was doing and I obviously felt it was wrong as I went through it myself previously and just as well a red flag for myself even if we became a couple I was running the risk of being with somebody capable of that, and we talked about that many times. But there was something obviously missing about her relationship with her boyfriend--they didnt get along and he treated her poorly in the beginning of their relationship that may or may not be a contributing factor to whats going on. She said we should stop, she mentioned she could be going back to Chicago and is seriously confused about her life and us being together, while we feel what we do, was a big step for both of us and I couldnt help but agree. It isnt a simple relationship approach given our "situations", a word that was used frequently between us.
Since then we have tried putting up walls with each other several times--it was and has been very difficult, no matter what we do, we know how we feel about each other and continued--though now we do not hang out in the garage, the sexting stopped a couple weeks ago or so--and now she truly is moving back to Chicago this summer which has put a timer and damper of sadness on this all. She also is moving back there with her boyfriend which is pretty disheartening as some would agree however she doesn't have much money so is kind of using him to get back there and she wants to be with her family and friends. Complicated. I dont know. I dont like it obviously. We attempted to come up with a game plan to mitigate this situation--no matter what we do, we end up getting coffee, spending time talking and seeing each other as much as we can at the office and enjoying our prescences with one another. She didnt request for me to wait for her, but she told me not to forget about her. There have been a couple times she said "who knows, maybe ill move back there and Ill just end up regretting it" and still have that strong feeling of a future together even though this is happening currently. We also need time for ourselves honestly--my divorce and her situation with her family/friends and her boyfriend thing, maybe she needs to re-discover herself in a way. Or she may end up settling with him. Ugh. Any possibility exists.
We still feel the way we do. We love each other and she says no man has ever treated her the way I do, looked at her the way i do--and mutually myself I feel like I have found the woman of my dreams. We honestly are like a power couple together. A true match in personality and looks. It just sucks, we see each other every day, I was semi-promoted so i have a different position now but still work closely together so its very hard and the undeniable chemistry is still there. The way we lock eyes is still there. She comes into my office often and talks to me, spends time with me and we make excuses to be around each other. We just know now that her moving back to her home in Chicago is a reality and WILL be happening now--so we arent talking as often as we used to. It definitely is deflating in a way--though the mutual feelings exist. We both have the feeling that once we "figure out our lives" maybe its something we can revisit. The future can be weird, and even when she leaves this summer I will have that hopeful "someday, one day" feeling about us.
Not really looking for advice, it is what it all is. Just sharing a relationship story.

I’m 15 and my family is kind of odd. Both of my parents are bodybuilders and my younger brother is an athlete. We have 2 sibling cats that get into blowout fights to the point where we had to build a gate out of wire rack to separate each cat. One cat has been really sick for a while and we can’t figure out what is wrong with him.
Ever since they started fighting the cats have been a huge part of our lives. My mom is pretty much the head of the household and cares the most about the cats. She will yell at us if a cat is looking at her because she wants us to play with the cat, feed the cat, brush the cat, etc. If the cat is in a room, all windows need to be open. This leads to all of the windows open in the house. This can get really exhausting because these rules don’t go away if we’re doing homework or something else important. It’s gotten worse too, a few months ago my brother and I used to have to put our phone up so we could get better sleep. Now, we are encouraged to stay up as late as possible so we can “watch” the cats.
I’ve mentioned feeling less important than the cats before, and I was met with ‘I guess you just hate us as parents then’. My mom and I are best friends. We do everything together and I can’t imagine being without her, I just feel left out sometimes. Most of the time if I ask to do something with her shell say no because she has to do something with the cats.
My family constantly talks about how they do so much more than me. (I close my door at night to keep the cats out). And I know they do a lot for the cats and our home but I feel like I deserve at least some credit for what I do. I’m top 5% of my class, take all AP classes, represented AZ in a club conference, I work 2 jobs, my brother has learning disabilities so I help him with his homework, coach a special Olympics cheer and dance team etc. I feel like I’m constantly trying to make my family proud but the cats will always come first. They get mad if I ask to go to Starbucks or other food (I pay). I think they’ll always see me as less because I like food and I’m not very active compared to them. I’m a little bit overweight (170 lbs 5’5) and sometimes I think if I started starving myself they would see me as important. Like if I had a huge weight loss they would finally respect me.
This entire thing may make no sense, I’m sitting in my bedroom floor bawling. I just want to hear everyone else’s thoughts. Also, please do not tell me to throw the cats out or hurt the cats, even as a joke. The cats are my babies and I love them so so much.

I’ve been on and off living in my car for almost a full year and I have the chance to move into a 2b/1b sharing house with the owner living upstairs. It’s month to month with rent being 1225 a month, all utilities paid and I can have my dog there with no extra charge ( he’s currently back home with my family. I moved from OH to AZ on a whim to take a job and I’ve been struggling ever since) it would be nice to have a room and bed again with my doggie but having the chance to pay off debts and save when I can without paying a huge monthly rental fee has been a blessing. I’m not sure what I should do. Skip the move in chance and save more and hope I have luck later on finding something better? I feel torn and stuck.

I'm making this post because I'm struggling to find a job. I'm set to earn my master's degree in cybersecurity after my bachelor's, and during my degree, I got the following certifications:

• CompTIA: A+, Net+, Security+, CySA+, Pentest+
• ISC2: SSCP, CCSP (Associate), CISSP (Associate)

I also had the opportunity to work part-time for a SOC for 5 months while still studying as a student. After I finished working with the SOC, I passed the CISSP exam and worked towards my master's. These exams were supported by my tuition, which helped a lot.
Now, I am at a point where I am actively looking for a role in cybersecurity as I am about to graduate, but I am not even getting a call back. I've sent out over 130 applications, and I've had my resume reviewed by professionals in the industry who said it was solid. I've also worked on a couple of projects.
I am seeking genuine advice, as I'm not sure how to proceed further and was hoping to get some guidance. I wouldn't say I'm an expert or fantastic with any particular technology, but I am looking for a single opportunity to break into the field. I've done my best when it comes to certs and education, but I feel like I am stuck. I've decided to build some projects in Azure and look into passing the AZ-500 Security Engineering Associate certification from Microsoft to build a vendor-specific skill set. Could that be the right move? I would really appreciate any help on what I could do to get that one opportunity. Thanks everyone.

I got a dui 2 years ago. In October of 2023 I was required to install an interlock device in my truck, so I got that done with a company called Low Cost Interlock in AZ. Everything was set up, the installation fee was payed, along with the 85 dollars a month to LCI for using their device and was set up to withdrawl off my card every month. Today I went to get my device calibrated. I’ve had the device for 7 months. The guy at the stereo place calibrates it for me as he’s done every two months since I got it, and then tells me I need to call the company because the device is not Registered to Anybody’s name anymore.
Even though the device has said my full name on it for the last 7 months. Umm ok?? So I go to blow into it and it’s still saying due for a calibration TODAY. I ended up having to call low cost interlock and they say the stereo shop never closed out the work order for the install, so for 7 months low cost interlock thinks I NEVER got it installed.
Huh??? How?? I’ve been coming here and getting it calibrated every two months? Now the device isn’t registered to me and NONE of the tests and data was sent to the DMV/MVD. Are u kidding me ? Then the fricken screen won’t stop saying u need to get it calibrated and starts counting down to a lockout. The company once again says it’s not registered and that I need a new device and a new install. I’m like wtf ok?? So I get scheduled for a new device and install.they moved the calibration screen and pushed it back so I can have time to get a new device. However now, everytime I blow into the device it says FAIL FAIL FAIL. I can’t start my truck. I’m stranded in a parking lot of a gas station. I have to call the interlock company back , which meant another hour waiting to talk to someone.
They say my device is shit and provide me with 3 codes to put into the interlock to bypass the fails , which are lies becuz I haven’t drank since the night of the dui , used mouthwash, or sanitizer. It work for about two times and I manage to get back to my house which is 35 minutes from town.
Well guess what ? The next day the codes no longer work. I sit in my truck for 2 hours blowing and typing bypass codes over n over. Then I miss my Appointment for the day becuz I LITERALLY CANT GET MY TRUCK TO START BCUZ OF THE INTERLOCK. I can’t leave my fkin house. I am STRANDED. This interlock has taken my time, made me sit on the phone for hours and hours trying to get some kind of help , been told I now owe 600dollars in back pay from the 85 that wasn’t being taken out of my account supposedly becuz of the stereo shop not closing their work order. I’ve missed work and appts becuz I CANT start my truck. I feel helpless and worthless and like the punishment from my dui will never stop. Now I’m waiting in the mail for who knows how long for a new interlock. My mind is constantly in a panick.
Will I go to jail becuz of this companies mistake ? Since no data was being sent to MVD? Will I be restarting my whole year of interlock since nothings been sent ? Will I need to get a tow my truck to the service center 35 miles away ? Will I get reimbursed for that since it wasn’t my fault v? Is my job going to fire me for not being able to get to work ? How will I get my truck working again if these codes won’t work ? Will the dmv be sending me a violation? Am I going to jail for real ? My mind is just like f f f f f f all day and I can’t do anything but wait and wait and wait for the new device in which the company send would get here today. I called the service center n they said nope didn’t come and I have to call them everyday to check if it came.
I just hope low cost interlock knows how many problems and how much my life is affected because of their interlock. Having to walk to the gas station to get ramen for dinner is sucks. Calling and waiting for 1-3 hours to talk to tech support. Getting a dui has been the worse thing in my life. Even though I did all my dui classes ,went to court , paid my lawyer , paid my fines , I will forever be punished because of a faulty Interlock.

I did the az-800 exam yesterday. There were 56 questions and 8 questions on a case study. Only a handful were yes/no or multiple choice. There were many questions on groups and file sync. I didn't have any time to check my answers. My score was terrible, 504.
I have az-104 and az-204. For those exams, measureUp really helped. Not for the az-800.
I did the az-800 because I wanted to learn more on-prem stuff and I am becoming cynical about the cloud, particularly the ai stuff. If you can run VMs and containers on your own machines, why use Azure? I did plenty of labs, so I have learned basic server admin.
I'm thinking of doing the az-700 in July or August as I have a 50% off voucher. Is the networking stuff in the learning path relevant to regular windows networking?
I also going to learn Linux admin, little reading but mostly labs. I prefer open source.
I use Entra and Power Platform regularly, and I have passed some of the applied skills, but I don't want to do the ms- or pl- exams as Microsoft keep on changing and retiring them.
Any advice? For context I am a school administrator who uses IT a lot and considering a job change to IT full time. Thanks.

Here is my list of Florida's post Furman execution roster that I wrote for my personal death penalty project. To be clear, the dates given here are a loose timeframe of an offender's first known criminal activities (including misdemeanors and delinquent activities) to their executions, and not at all their years on death row. In a large number of death penalty cases, the offenders were committing high level felonies, even other murders in extreme cases like Ted Bundy, well before the murders that condemned them. I wanted to encapsulate the earlier known or suspected offenses in order to express the scope and scale of their crimes.
As a warning, due how the death penalty is utilized in the United States, many of the surveyed crimes are extremely graphic by nature. Please read at your own risk. On a different note, Florida is the last currently completed list. I'm still working on Texas, and as of now finished 484 entries out of the state's 587 cases to date.
As with my lists for Missouri, Virginia, and Oklahoma, reddit's character limitations forced me to split Florida's roster into two parts. Here is the link to part 2.
The currently 105 executed offenders, cases 1 to 52:
1. John Spenkelink (~1972-1979, electric chair): While on the run after escaping from a Californian prison, Spenkelink picked up 45 year old Joseph Szymankiewicz while he was hitchhiking. Like Spenkelink, Szymankiewicz was a career criminal, and had a conviction for murdering a owner of a furniture store during a robbery. They went on a nationwide crime spree together, but Spenkelink shot Szymankiewicz and disemboweled him with a hatchet while he was asleep in a hotel room. He claimed that the killing was done to protect himself from a sexual assault and being forced to play Russian Roulette, but this was rejected by the courts. Spenkelink had several previous convictions of armed robberies, some of which he was serving when he escaped from California.
2. Robert Sullivan (1973-1983, electric chair): Sullivan and his accomplice abducted 38 year old Donald Schmidt from a Howard Johnson's he managed. They bound Schmidt's hands behind his back, and drove him to a remote swamp in the Everglades. He was beaten with a tire iron and shot four times in the head. The pair then took Schmdit's watch and his credit cards from his body.
3. Anthony Antone (~1970s-1984, electric chair): Antone, a high ranking mobster, was hired by a crime boss to arrange the murder of Richard Cloud, a 33 year old private detective. He arranged for two of his associates to gun down Cloud on his own front porch. Although he wasn't directly present at the crime itself, Antone bore the harshest penalties due to his employer and one of his triggermen committing suicide in custody and the surviving triggerman agreeing to testify against him.
4. Arthur Goode III (~1960s-1984, electric chair): Goode lured 9 year old Jason VerDow into a forest, and raped and strangled him to death. The next day, he abducted Billy Arthe, a 10 year old Guatemalan immigrant, and took him on a journey to Washington D.C. On their way through Virginia, Goode kidnapped 11 year old Kenny Dawson. Both boys were sexually abused, and he strangled Dawson to death with a belt in front of Arthe. Arthe was rescued when a passing woman recognized him from the news coverages. Good was notorious for being a shameless pedophile who openly flaunted and defended his predations of young boys to any listening ears. When he acted as his own attorney during the proceedings for VerDow's murder, Goode's defense entirely hinged on pedophila apologetics and advocacy. He started victimizing younger boys in his early teens, and dealt with several accusations of sexual assault throughout high school. His execution was somewhat controversial, as Goode was cognitively disabled and had the mentality of a young child.
5. James Adams (~1962-1984, electric chair): During a burglary of a ranch, Adams beat the owner, 61 year old Edgar Brown, to death with a firepoker stick. Several of the undisclosed items Adams stole in the robbery were discovered in his wife's car. Prior to the murder, Adams had a rape conviction that gave him a 99 year sentence, but he managed to escape from prison.
6. Carl Shriner (~1962-1984, electric chair): Shriner shot and killed Judith Carter, a 32 year old clerk, while robbing a convenience store. He was involved with petty crimes since he was 8 years old, and Shriner was on parole for armed robbery at the time of the murder.
7. David Washington (1976-1984, electric chair): Washington started his crime spree by fatally stabbing a minister, 69 year old Daniel Pridgen, during a robbery of his home. A few days later, he broke into a home that had 64 year old Katrina Birk and her 3 sister in laws inside. He tied up all four women, and stabbed and shot them. Birk was killed, but her sister in laws survived with crippling injuries. The day after Birk's murder, Washington and his accomplices kidnapped 20 year old Frank Meli from a university, tied him to a bed, and tried extorting a ransom from his family. When that failed, he stabbed his captive to death. In his 10 day long murder and robbery spree, Washington stole jewelry, a car, an undisclosed amount of some money from Pridgen, and $8 from Birk and her sister in laws.
8. Ernest Dobbert Jr. (1972-1984, electric chair): Dobbert routinely tortured his children with beatings, poking their eyes with his fingers, dunking their heads in bathtubs, and burnings with cigarette lighters. Two of them, 9 year old Kelly and 7 year old Ryder, were strangled to death during one of his daily beatings and torture sessions.
9. James Henry (~1965-1984, electric chair): Henry invaded the home of Zellie Riley, a 81 year old Civil Rights activist. He tied up and gagged Riley, slit his throat with a razor blade, and stole $64. A few days later, Henry shot and wounded detective Ronald Ferguson in a confrontation. He previously shot and injured a man in one incident and non fatally stabbed a man in another, and alleged in both cases that the circumstances were self defense. However, the apparent victims made identical claims that Henry was trying to rob them.
10. Timothy Palmes (1976-1984, electric chair): Palmes used his girlfriend to lure her employer, a 41 year old furniture store owner named James Stone, to her apartment and knocked him unconscious with a hammer. Palmes and his other accomplice, Ronald Straight, bound him with wire and locked Stone in a wooden box they specifically made for him. They tortured their captive by slowly cutting his fingers off, and stabbed him 18 times with a machete and knife. The trio dumped Stone's body (which was still trapped in the box) into a river and stole his watch, car, and $2,800 from his store. Palmes tried to blame the killing entirely on his girlfriend, but she was granted immunity in exchange for testifying against him and Straight.
11. James Raulerson (1975-1985, electric chair): Raulerson and his accomplice robbed a restaurant at gunpoint, and raped one of the female employees. When the responding officers arrived at the scene, the pair engaged in a shootout with them. Both Raulerson's accomplice and a policeman, 23 year old Michael Stewart, were killed in the skirmish.
12. Johnny Witt (1973-1985, electric chair): Witt and his accomplice frequently stalked random people they could in the woods, as they were thrilled by the prospect of hunting other human beings. On a whim, the pair ambushed 11 year old Jonathan Kushner while he was riding his bike. They incapacitated Kushner by hitting him in the head with a drill star bit and gagged him. After they tossed him in the back of their truck, Kushner suffocated on the gag. Witt and his accomplice then cut the boy's stomach open to prevent bloating, engaged in intercourse with his body, and buried Kushner in a shallow grave.
13. Marvin Francois (1977-1985, electric chair): During what is now called the "Carol City massacre", Francois and two other men, Beauford White and John Ferguson, forced their way into a drug house. They tied up the 8 men and women inside (who were all between 24-45 years old), and shot them all in the head. Only two of the victims, 45 year old Johnnie Hall and 24 year old Margaret Wooden, survived. A total of $800 was stolen in the attack. Accomplice Ferguson (who was executed in 2013) also committed a series of unrelated murders that Francois wasn't involved with. These crimes are discussed in depth under Ferguson’s section (case 78) in Part 2 of this list.
14. Daniel Thomas (1976-1986, electric chair): Thomas and his accomplices, dubbed the "Ski Mask Gang" by the media, went on a rampage that involved the burglaries of 16 homes and the rapes of 5 women. The husband of one of those women, 49 year old Charles Anderson, was shot dead in an attempt to protect her. Other murders attributed to the Gas Mask Gang include 20 year old Henry Kersey (shot to death while trying to defend his wife, who was then tossed off a bridge) and 70 year old Tessie Henderson (succumbed to injuries received in a beating). Another woman was blinded after members of the Ski Mask Gang poured liquid plumber into her eyes.
15. David Funchess (1973-1986, electric chair): Fuchess was fired from a liquor store due to the owners suspecting him of stealing money. A year later, he assaulted his former workplace with a knife. He stabbed two employees, 62 year old Bertha McLeod and 52 year old Anna Waldrop, and a customer, 56 year old Clayton Ragan. Waldrop and Ragan were killed at the scene, while McLeod died from complications relating to her injuries two years after the attack. Fuchess left the store with several canceled checks that total around $6,000. He had several misdemeanors and minor felonies on his previous record that included theft, loitering, obstructing traffic, public intoxication, and disturbing the peace. Fuchess also attracted some public sympathy due to him being a Vietnam combat veteran that was diagnosed with PTSD.
16. John Straight (1976-1986, electric chair): As mentioned in Timothy Palmes' section, Straight took part in the torture murder of David Stone, and the robbery of his furniture store.
17. Beauford White (~1963-1987, electric chair): White was another participant in the "Carol City massacre" that the previously mentioned Marvin Francois was involved in. He had a lengthy criminal history dating back to the 1960s, and one of his past convictions was related to an attempted rape.
18. Willie Darden (~1970s-1988, electric chair): Darden was convicted of the shooting death of 54 year old James Turman and the non fatal shooting of a 16 year old neighbor while robbing Turman's Furniture Store. Turman's wife was also raped in the robbery. Some supporters had citied that he was tried by an all white jury, and used it to push a narrative that Darden, a black man, was condemned out of racism. He had several previous convictions, which included assault, forgery, theft, and the attempted rape of a 70 year old woman. Darden was on furlough for the latter conviction during the time of Turman's murder.
19. Jeffrey Daugherty (1976-1988, electric chair): While on a road trip with his uncle and girlfriend, Daugherty murdered at least 4 women and one man, 68 year old Carmen Abrams, 50 year old Betty Campbell, 49 year old Lavonne Sailer, 28 year old Elizabeth Shank, and 18 year old George Karns. The victims were slain through either shootings or stabbings at grocery stores, gas stations, and restaurants they worked at, but Sailer was attacked while hitchhiking. Daugherty mostly murdered for personal enjoyment, but he often stole coins, clothes, and watches from the victims.
20. Theodore Bundy (~1970s(?)-1989, electric chair): Across multiple states, Bundy kidnapped, raped, and murdered a bare minimum of ~20-36 females between the ages of 12-26. Although his true body count is uncertain and heavily disputed, most experts agree that it well exceeds official estimates. Bundy's abduction tactics were diverse, and ranged from grabbing targets by force, pretending to be a cripple in need of help, posing as emergency workers, seduction, and luring them in through hitchhiking. On some occasions, Bundy broke into the residences of victims, and assaulted them in their bedrooms. After an abduction, the victims were bound with handcuffs, raped while they were alive, and he engaged in acts of necrophila with their bodies. Most of his killing methods were strangulations with cords or beatings with tire irons and other blunt instruments. Several victims were also decapitated, and he kept their heads as trophies. Bundy disposed of corpses by dumping them in deserts, mountains, swamps, and other remote wilderness environments accessible to him.
21. Aubrey Adams Jr. (1978-1989, electric chair): Adams lured 8 year old Trisa Thomley into his car by offering her a ride home from school. He tied the girl up and dragged her to a remote forest. She was then raped and suffocated with a plastic bag.
22. Jesse Tafero (~1960s-1990, electric chair): A pair of patrolmen, 39 year old Phillip Black and 39 year old Donald Irwin (who was also a Canadian constable), found Tafero sleeping in his car with his wife, their children (which consisted of a 9 year old son and a 10 month old daughter), and a friend. What exactly occurred next is heavily disputed, but Tafero or his friend shot both officers dead, after they noticed a gun on the dashboard and asked the group to climb out. The group then fled in a police car, disposed of it, and kidnapped a man to carjack him. Tafero's execution was controversial, as his head caught on fire during the electrocution, and his supporters cited evidence of his friend (who was sentenced to life, but was released in 1994 on good behavior) being the triggerman in the shootings. He also had a long history of armed robbery, rape, and sodomy. Tafero's wife was initially condemned for the murder, but her sentence was reduced to 25 years to life on appeal in 1981, and was released with an Alford Plea in 1992.
23. Anthony Bertolotti (1983-1990, electric chair): Bertolotti enticed 46 year old Carol Ward into his home with the promise of helping her make a phone call. He held Ward at knife point, demanded money, and raped her. She was stabbed to death during the assault, and Bertolotti drove away with her car. In the trial, Bertolotti alleged that Ward offered him sex in exchange for stopping the robbery, and used it to claim that his angry girlfriend made him kill her for it.
24. James Hamblen (1984-1990, electric chair): Hamblen shot and killed 34 year old Laureen Edwards during a robbery of her store. Despite forcing Edwards to disrobe, Hamblen left he unmolested. He then fled to Texas and quickly started a relationship with 20 year old Debbie Abbott. A month later, Hamblen shot Abbott dead during a heated argument.
25. Raymond Clark (~1964-1990, electric chair): In 1964, Clark beat Marshell Taylor, his landlord's 14 year old son that he groomed and abused, to death with a pipe. After his parole at an undisclosed date in the 70s, Clark groomed another 14 year old boy into an illicit relationship. He recruited him in the abduction of David Drake, a 49 year scrap dealer. With the boy's help, he kidnapped their victim at gunpoint with the intentions of ransoming him back to his family. The pair forced Drake to write them a $5,000 check, and shot him in the head. When he wasn't able to cash in the check, Clark dropped his accomplice off at his home to avoid being charged with the boy's kidnapping, fled to California, and tried to trick Drake's family into paying his ransom. However, a series of calls was traced to his accomplice, and he implicated Clark to the police.
26. Roy Harich (1981-1991, electric chair): Harich kidnapped two teenage girls, 18 year old Carlene Kelly and 17 year old Deborah Miller, after luring them into his van from a beach. The pair were then both sexually assaulted. He shot Kelly dead, slit Miller's throat, and dumped them on a highway. Miller survived the attack and dragged herself to safety.
27. Bobby Francis (~1970s-1991, electric chair): Suspecting him of being a police informant against his drug trafficking enterprise, Francis abducted 35 year old Titus Walters. He tied him up and forcibly injected drano and battery acid into his body for a span of two hours. Despite Walters' pleas for his life, Francis shot him in the head and heart.
28. Nollie Martin (1977-1992, electric chair): Martin and his accomplice robbed a convenience store at knifepoint, stole $90, and kidnapped the clerk, 19 year old Patricia Greenfield. She was then raped and stabbed to death by her captors.
29. Edward Kennedy (~1977-1992, electric chair): In 1977, Kennedy and some partners shot and killed 33 year old Robert Brown, during a robbery of a motel. He was given a life sentence for the murder. Four years later, Kennedy escaped from prison. While on the run, he broke into a house in hopes of stealing money and guns. The homeowner, 32 year old Floyd Cone Jr. returned home with his cousin, 35 year old Robert McDermon (who worked as a state trooper), and unwittingly intercepted Kennedy. He shot them both dead, fled to a neighboring home, and took a 21 year old woman and her 4 month old son hostage. After a hour long standoff, Kennedy released his captives and surrendered himself to the police.
30. Robert Henderson (~1964-1998, electric chair): In December of 1982, Henderson went on a month long rampage across 6 states. He raped, robbed, and murdered a total of 12 people between the ages of 11-79 through shootings. Three of the victims where his wife's parents, 61 year old Ivan and 57 year old Marie Barnett, and her 11 year old brother Clifford. A few other victims were women, like 50 year old Dorothy Wilkinson, 37 year old Cheryl McDonald, 30 year old Jerilyn Stanfield, and 21 year old Lucinda Russell, that were kidnapped from their workplaces and homes and raped. A couple more were men, such as 79 year old Murray Ferderbe and 61 year old Sam Corrent, that he killed while robbing their homes and businesses. Henderson's last remaining murders were a trio of hitchhikers, 27 year old Vernon Odom, 23 year old Frances Dickey, and 18 year old Robert Dawson, that he killed together. Last but not least, Henderson bound an unidentified woman and her 12 year old daughter at gunpoint during a break in of their home. After Henderson raped the mother, he tried to do the same to her daughter. The mother then broke free from her restraints, and chased him away from her home. Contemporary media reports noted that the mother "fought harder for her daughter then she did for herself." Henderson had prior convictions of growing marijuana, assaulting officers, and stealing license plates.
31. Larry Johnson (1979-1993, electric chair): During the robbery of a gas station, Johnson shot and killed the clerk, 67 year old James Hadden. Like David Funchess, Johnson enjoyed a considerable amount of public sympathy due to him being a combat veteran of the Vietnam War.
32. Michael Durocher (1983-1993, electric chair): In 1983, Durocher made an agreement with his girlfriend, 31 year old Grace Reed, to conduct a murder-suicide pact involving her 5 year old daughter Candace and their 6 month old son Joshua. Although he shot and stabbed them all to death, Durocher backed out of his end of the pact. He later shot dead 27 year old Thomas Underwood while robbing a decorating story in 1986, and beat his roommate, 38 year old Edward Childers, to death during an argument in 1988.
33. Roy Stewart (1978-1994, electric chair): 77 year old Margaret Haizlip invited Stewart into her home. When she caught Stewart stealing a gold watch from her medicine drawer, Haizlip tried to evict him. In the confrontation, Stewart raped and strangled her to death with an electrical cord. Her body was found with 8 broken ribs, a fractured larynx, bite marks on her thighs and breasts, several contusions, and a torn vagina.
34. Bernard Bolender (~1970s-1995, electric chair): In a drug deal gone wrong, Bolender and two accomplices abducted their dealers, 39 year old John Merino, 38 year old Rudy Ayan, 33 year old Nicomedes Hernandez, and 25 year old Scott Bennett, at gunpoint, and robbed them of their jewelry. All four men were beaten with baseball bats, stabbed, and burned with heated knifes to extort an additional source of cocaine from them. Most of the hostages died in the 2 hour long torture session, but Merino was still alive when Bolender burned him and the other hostages' bodies in a car. Although most of his criminal history is murky, Bolender was heavily involved in the drug trade during the 1970s at the bare minimum.
35. Jerry White (~1962-1995, electric chair): White robbed a grocery store, and held the owner, 53 year old Alex Alexander, and a trio of customers (which consisted of 34 year old James Melson, an unidentified man, and the man's 12 year old daughter) at gunpoint. He shot and killed Melson, wounded Alexander, and tried forcing the father and daughter into a freezer. When the pair refused, White tried to shot them, but his gun misfired. The man and his daughter were able to flee with their lives and called the police, while White ran off with $338. White had 9 previous convictions, which included attempted murder, armed robbery, theft, and burglary, and was first arrested at the age of 14.
36. Phillip Atkins (1981-1995, electric chair): Atkins kidnapped 6 year old Antonio Castillo and molested him in a forest. When Castillo threatened to tell his parents about the abuse, Atkins bludgeoned him to death with a pipe.
37. John Bush (~1970s-1996, electric chair): Bush and three other men kidnapped 18 year old Frances Slater from a gas station she worked as a clerk at. They stabbed her to death and stole $100 from the register. Slater's murder attracted national attention due to her being the granddaughter and heiress of renowned singer Frances Langford and the outboard motor mongrel Ralph Evinrude. Bush's previous convictions include rape and robbery.
38. John Mills Jr. (1982-1996, electric chair): Mills and his accomplice tied up and abducted 30 year old Les Lawhon after ransacking his trailer for any valuables. They took him to a nearby abandoned airport to hideout. Lawhon then was beaten with a tire iron and shot in the head execution style.
39. Pedro Medina (1982-1997, electric chair): Medina tied up and gagged 52 year old Dorothy James in her home. He stabbed her to death and stole her car, which he was captured sleeping in by investigating police officers. His execution was a source of controversy, as Medina's head burst into flames as he was electrocuted on the chair. Medina's case and similar incidents led to Florida gradually phasing out of the electric chair in favor of lethal injection.
40. Gerald Stano (~1960s-1998, electric chair): Stano was convicted of murdering 22 women and girls between the ages of 12-35, though he admitted to 41, and is suspected of a total of 88 killings. His victims were all lured with promises of rides, payment for sexual favors, or abducted through force. The methods he used were diverse, and included drownings, shootings, stabbings, and strangulations. Most of the sources noted that none of his victims were raped, and that Stano seemed to have murdered out of an enjoyment for killing. As a child, Stano was charged with fasley pulling fire alarms at school and throwing rocks at cars. He was also fired for stealing from coworkers in one of his jobs.
41. Leo Jones (1981-1998, electric chair): Supposedly out of revenge for being brutalized by policemen, Jones was convicted of killing Thomas Szafranski, a 28 year old officer, in a sniper attack. Szafranski was driving his patrol car when he was ambushed and murdered. His execution was contested, as Jones claimed that he was coerced into confessing by investigators through beatings, and one of the apparent witnesses allegedly recounted his testimony.
42. Judy Buenoano (~1957-1998, electric chair): Over the course of 11 years, Buenoano poisoned her husband, 32 year old James Goodyear, her son, 19 year old Michael, and her boyfriend, 39 year old Bobby Morris with arsenic to collect their life insurance policies. She also made an attempt to poison another boyfriend after he was injured in a suspicious explosion, but was foiled by a police investigation. As a young girl, Buenoano assaulted her father, stepmother, and stepbrothers, and served a two month sentence for it.
43. Daniel Remeta (1985-1998, electric chair): Remeta and his accomplices shot and killed 5 people, 60 year old Mehrle Reeder, 55 year old Glenn Moore, 42 year old Linda Marvin, 29 year old John Schroeder, and 27 year old Larry McFarland, across Kansas, Arkansas, and Florida. The victims were all murdered in convenience store, restaurant, and gas station robberies.
44. Allen Davis (~1970s-1999, electric chair): Davis broke into a home with the intentions of raping 9 year old Kristina Weiler. Although no sexual assault occurred, Davis tied Kristina up and shot her in the head. He also struck her pregnant mother, 37 year old Nancy, 25 times on her head and face with his pistol, and left the body "bruised beyond recognition." When Kristina's sister, 5 year old Katherine, tried to escape, Davis shot and bludgeoned her to death. He then sacked the home for any belongings. Davis was a long time felon, and had several previous convictions of burglary, child molestation, and involuntary manslaughter. His execution caused significant controversy, as his nose bled all over his body during the fatal shocks, and he suffered burns to his legs, head, and groin. The backlash, combined with other botched incidents like Pedroa Medina and Jesse Tafero, resulted in Florida replacing the electric chair with lethal injection.
45. Terry Sims (1977-2000, lethal injection): George Pfeil, a 57 year old deputy and WW2 veteran, walked into a pharmacy that Sims and his 3 accomplices were robbing, to pick up a prescription. Upon seeing what was happening, Pfeil pulled out his gun and engaged the robbers, but was killed by them in the shootout. Although Sims was injured, he managed to escape the scene, and was captured a month later while trying to carry out another robbery in California.
46. Anthony Bryan (1983-2000, lethal injection): Bryan and his accomplice kidnapped a night watchman, 60 year old George Wilson, and used his keys to rob a bank he guarded. They drove Wilson to a remote forest and shot him in the head. The pair dumped his body in a creek and drove their car into a lake to destroy any evidence.
47. Bennie Demps (~1971-2000, lethal injection): Demps received his first death sentence in 1971 when he shot and killed a real estate agent, 54 year old Robert Brinkworth, and his client, 64 year old Celia Puhlick, while the victims were trying to engage in a house sale. He also wounded Celia's husband, 62 year old Nicholas, and stole a safe from the house. However, his first death sentence was lifted from the brief nationwide capital punishment ban from the Furman decision. Two years after his first death sentence was commuted, Demps was given a second death sentence when he fatally stabbed another inmate, 23 year old Alfred Sturgis, on the behalf of the Perjury Incorporated prison gang. Sturgis was in prison for murder, and he was targeted due to Perjury Incorporated's suspicions of him of being an informant.
48. Thomas Provenzano (1984-2000, lethal injection): In retaliation for being charged for disorderly conduct months earlier, Provenzano stormed a courthouse, and shot and killed Arnold Wilkerson, a 60 year old deputy that was a veteran of WW2, Korea, and Vietnam, on the scene. Two more policemen, 53 year old Harry Dalton Jr. and 19 year old Mark Parker, were also hit by gunfire, and they both died from complications relating to their injuries years after the attack.
49. Dan Hauser (1995-2000, lethal injection): Out of a desire to kill somebody, Huser enticed a stripper, 21 year old Melanie Rodrigues, into a motel room with the promise of payment for sexual services. After they had intercourse, he strangled her to death. Hauser was also caught stealing a truck months before the murder.
50. Edward Castro (1986-2000, lethal injection): Castro lured three homosexual men, 57 year old Austin Scott, 50 year old George Hill, and 46 year old Claude Henderson, from gay bars. The victims were all tied up and stabbed to death in their homes. After each killing, Castro left with valuables such as cars, watches, rings, money, and wallets.
51. Robert Glock II (1983-2001, lethal injection): Glock kidnapped 34 year old Sharilyn Ritchie from a mall parking lot and forced her to withdraw $100 from an ATM. He then drove Ritchie to a forest 60 miles away and shot her in the head. Ritchie's wedding ring and purse was also stolen in the attack.
52. Rigoberto Sanchez-Velasco (1986-2002, lethal injection): Sanchez-Velasco raped and fatally strangled Katixa Ecenarro, his girlfriend's 11 year old daughter. While awaiting execution for Ecenarro's murder, Sanchez-Velasco got into a fight with fellow condemned inmates, 41 year old Charles Street and 30 year old Edwin Kaprat, and stabbed them both to death. Kaprat received a death sentence for the sexual abuse and torture-killings of 4 elderly women, while Street was sentenced to death for the shooting murders of two police officers.

A quick look around town confirmed it was just going to be the four of them heading into the mines. Everyone else was either dead or too busy pulling themselves together after the onslaught of the undead. Az and Sable had done an excellent job of clearing the living dead out of town, and now there was only an occasional stray gunshot to indicate that some of them were still walking around. The immediate danger seemed to have cleared, at least as far as Alain could see.
"Are you sure you're okay?" Sable asked as they started walking.
"I'll be fine," Alain insisted. "Worry about yourselves."
"You're the most heavily-injured one out of all of us," Az pointed out. "We're right to be concerned."
"It can wait. For now, we've got work to do."
Az and Sable looked like they both wanted to argue, but refrained. Felix, meanwhile, drew close to Alain.
"Hey," he said. "What are we expecting to see down there?"
"That's a question for Az and Sable," Alain answered. "You two hear that?"
"We did," Sable confirmed. "And we have no idea. It could be anything."
"Fucking great…" Alain muttered.
They eventually reached the opening to the mine, just outside of town. It was completely clear, from what they could see – no undead anywhere, and Mayor Adams was nowhere to be found.
"I'll take the lead," Az offered. "You three stay behind me. Especially you, Alain."
Alain scowled, but nodded. He checked to ensure his shotgun was loaded, then fell in behind Az as he began to move through the mines. Felix walked alongside him, close enough that they were almost shoulder-to-shoulder. The entire time, Alain kept his eyes peeled for any threats, but the only things down there were the occasional stray undead, which were taken care of in short order by either Az or Sable.
"Something isn't right…" Alain muttered. "Why would they bother leaving the mines unguarded if whatever they're trying to do is located down here?"
"No idea," Sable replied. "And we won't know unless we keep moving."
Alain nodded, despite the reservations welling up in his mind. They kept moving, dealing with the odd living corpse or two, before they finally reached a massive opening at the base of the mine. They moved to enter through it, but an invisible force barred the way.
"The fuck...?" Alain breathed as he ran right into it. It was completely invisible, and yet it felt like there was a wall in the way somehow. He tentatively raised a hand up to touch it, and sure enough, it was solid like stone.
"It's a force field," Sable said, her eyes widening in surprise. "I didn't think they'd be able to successfully raise one…"
"What does that mean, exactly?" Felix asked.
"It means that whatever they're doing down here, there's layers to it. Someone was sacrificed to turn the deputies into wights; someone else was sacrificed to raise this barrier. The rest will have been used to fuel whatever they're trying to do down here. That can only mean that whatever they're trying to do, it's really bad, otherwise why risk going after so many people?"
"Correct," someone said through the darkness.
Alain's eyes narrowed. "Adams," he growled, pulling his shotgun into his shoulder. "Come out where I can see you, coward."
"In due time, Alain. For now, I think I'd rather watch you all squirm like the maggots you are."
The earth began to shake once more, and the ground beneath their feet started to shift as bodies dug their way through the dirt, clawing at them.
"Everyone out!" Sable shouted. "Out of the mines, now!"
"We can't just-" Alain protested.
"If we stay here, we'll be drowned under a tide of undead! We have to leave, now!"
"But the ritual-"
"We'll come back," Sable promised. "They won't get away with whatever they're trying to do, trust me."
Alain reluctantly nodded. Sable took off running, and the rest of them followed after her, retracing their steps back through the mine. Undead rose all around them, snapping or clawing at their heels. Alain narrowly managed to avoid being bitten, as did Felix; both of them fired their weapons as they went, taking down any undead who came too close to them.
Eventually, the four of them emerged out from the mines. Thankfully, there was no further undead incursion yet – the town was completely quiet. Felix and Alain doubled over, gasping for breath. After a moment, they stood tall, wiping sweat from their brows.
"What do we do now?" Felix asked. "Because there's no way we're getting through whatever that barrier is as we are."
"There must be some way around it," Alain urged. "Sable, Az, you'd know, right? Tell me we can get around that thing before it's too late."
"No ritual is truly impenetrable," Sable explained. "They all have some kind of downside in the end, even the really powerful ones. Of course, the downsides may be a bit esoteric or hard to discover, but they still exist, it's just a matter of finding them."
"And I have a suggestion as to where to look, my lady," Az interjected. "The mayor's house should be fairly unguarded by this point. I say we start there."
"And if there's nothing there?" Alain couldn't help but ask.
Az's gaze narrowed. "Hopefully, we find something."
"That doesn't answer my question. What do we do if we can't find anything useful?"
Neither Az nor Sable had an answer for him. Alain's brow furrowed out of frustration, but he didn't offer any further argument.
"Alright, the mayor's house it is, then." He turned towards Felix. "You know, you don't have to come with us. You've done plenty as-is."
"Fuck that," Felix declared. "I've come this far, I'm not stepping back any time soon. Where you three go, I go."
Alain shrugged. "Suit yourself. So long as you're insistent on coming along, you should take the lead on this one – you'll get us there faster."
Felix nodded, then stepped in front of the group, reloading his weapons as he walked.

The trip to Mayor Ansley's office took just a few minutes given Felix was guiding them, but even despite the short walk, Alain's feet were killing him by the end of it. All the excitement and exertion from the past undead incursions were taking their toll on him – he was exhausted, and he could tell he wasn't the only one. Felix was struggling to stay awake, Sable was letting out the occasional yawn as she walked, and even Az, stoic as he was, had bags forming under his eyes.
By the time they reached the mayor's office, the moon was high in the sky, casting a faint glow on the desert sands below it. Az wasted no time in bashing down the door, and the four of them entered, Felix and Alain with their weapons at the ready.
"Doesn't seem like there's anyone home," Felix surmised as he holstered his pistol.
"Don't let that fool you," Alain warned, slinging his shotgun over his shoulder. "I wouldn't be surprised if Ansley has something waiting for us somewhere in here."
Sable looked around the house, frowning. "This is it? It only has a few rooms…"
Felix turned towards her, mouth agape. "Lady, this is the biggest house in town. Are you used to castles or something?"
"Yes, actually. But that's neither here nor there."
Sable brushed past Alain, peering into a nearby room. She frowned, then shook her head. "Searching this place is going to take ages."
"We don't have ages," Alain reminded her. "Tear this place apart if you have to, I don't think any of us care about keeping it intact at this point. We just need to find something that can point us in the right direction."
The others nodded, and then they split up, each taking a separate room for themselves. Alain ended up in what appeared to be the study, if the wooden desk lined with stacks of paper was any indication. He briefly rifled through the documents on the desk before dismissing them outright – there didn't appear to be anything useful there, just information about the mine for prospective investors.
After a few minutes of searching through the room, Alain was beginning to grow frustrated with his lack of progress. He looked around, his gaze landing on a grainy black-and-white photograph of Los Banos; his eyes narrowed, and out of sheer frustration, he picked up a nearby paperweight and hurled it at the picture. The frame shattered, and it fell to the ground. Alain stared at it before his attention was drawn to something behind it – a small, black, combination safe. He blinked, surprised, then called out to the others.
"Hey, I think I've found something!"
They all came running into the room. Alain pointed at the safe, then turned to Az.
"Think you can get that open?" he asked.
Az didn't give a response, but just cracked his knuckles. He stepped over to the safe, then in one fell swoop, ripped it out of the wall. He motioned for Sable to come join him, and she held onto the rear end of the safe while he grabbed the dial. Together, the two of them pulled, and after a few seconds of straining, the lock broke and the door opened.
Az reached inside the safe, then pulled out a small leather-bound book. He opened it, then began to read through it.
"What is it?" Felix asked. "Some kind of ledger?"
Az shook his head. "It's a journal of some kind."
"What's it say?" Alain questioned.
"Nothing at the moment. Let me read a bit-"
Az suddenly trailed off, then looked up to Alain. He cleared his throat.
"'April 30th, 1883 – I visited that strange man, the gypsy, out on the frontier again. He calls himself a seer from the old country, whatever that means. He's an odd one, but his wares are interesting to me – all kinds of trinkets from somewhere in Europe. I purchased a few of them simply to sate my own curiosity. I wonder if any of his stories about them are true…'"
"June 26th, 1883 – I went back to the gypsy again, and this time I made sure to loosen his tongue a bit with some whiskey. Really, I just wanted to hear more of his stories about the old country – those tidbits about the supernatural are really interesting, after all. Instead, I received far more than I expected. The old man claims to have discovered something akin to a fountain of youth. He clammed up immediately after mentioning it, however; nevertheless, he had my interest. Perhaps a bit more whiskey and money would loosen his tongue…'"
"August 9th, 1883 – I visited the old man for what I hope will be the final time. Sure enough, the alcohol and the money did it – he was all too willing to tell me what he knew after that. Turns out there's a ritual that needs to be performed in order to attain eternal youth, one that requires human sacrifices. It is unfortunate that innocent lives will need to be given up, but at the same time, there are people far more valuable than the sacrifices out there. After all, what is one prostitute compared to a wealthy businessman? Especially one so willing to pay for what I have to offer. And that's to say nothing of myself – one providing such a service for the world deserves to have a little something good come his way, I think…'"
Az finished reading, then looked up to the rest of the group. And for the first time, Alain saw traces of emotion on his face – disgust, mixed with a tinge of horror.
"That son of a bitch…" Sable said, gritting her teeth. "We should have known that's what he was planning. It makes sense – the secrecy, the human sacrifices, the undead… it all leads back to what's in this journal."
"So how do we stop him?" Alain asked.
Sable shook her head. "We need to figure out how to get past that barrier first. The book didn't mention anything about a ritual for that, but I think we can assume he got it from the same place as the other."
"The old man," Felix finished. "Yes, I agree."
"Then we know what we need to do," Alain said. He turned to Az. "Does the book say where to find the old man?"
"In some of the earlier entries, yes," Az answered. "We should be able to track him down using this."
"Alright, then we know what we need to do," Alain replied. "Let's just hope we can get to him before it's too late."

Alright, I’ve posted here a couple of times in the last week or so, but still looking to get the best information I can. I’d appreciate hearing from anyone local to Phoenix, or just from anyone in general, about flight school pathways. I’m currently sifting through all the opinions and different ways of completing flight training.
I’m living in Phoenix, AZ and looking for a flight school here vs moving back to MI for flight school. First I need a medical etc., but just want to know what some good local options are that are more affordable for the average person. (RELATIVELY, I know some Negative Nancy Redditor will go on and on about how expensive flight school is and paint a negative picture of the industry…). I recently quit pharmacy school and will save myself ~$250k in debt by not finishing it. In short, I’ve decided to follow something I am more passionate about and the #1 thing I am passionate about is becoming a commercial airline pilot. I will need to get financing most likely, but am looking to avoid as much loan debt as I can, within reason. I don’t want to sacrifice safety and training quality, obviously. I can also try to move back to Michigan and attend one of the local flight schools for the first steps while I hold down a job doing pharmacy tech work or something like that or maybe do the same here, working as a tech while attending a local school (still unsure of what point to break-off and get higher ratings elsewhere). I’m not sure if working as a tech will be enough to make payments as I go or not, but it’s likely the best paying option I’ve got at the moment.
I also see back-and-forth things about 141 vs 61, but I don’t know what’s true or best for my situation. I have some networking connections who understand my position a bit more and can answers this stuff as well, but to hear from anyone living in the area would be great in addition. Thank you

Good first step into IT?
Hey all, I just got my associates in Computer Networking this past winter and got my CCNA 2 months ago and have been applying to numerous help desk jobs (100+) but it really seems difficult to get a call from any of them. I suspect its due to my lack of actual experience in the IT field. (I have virtually 0 in the field)
I have been in talks with a PC tech lvl 1 job that deals with the assembly and disassembly of old laptops and PCs and inventory of their parts at a warehouse. I dont mind the warehouse environment but Im wondering if getting into a Computer Hardware focused job would be a good step into getting into the IT field?
I do plan on getting more certifications as Im now studying and get ready to take the Azure fundamentals and then study for either the MS-102 or AZ-104 to be a Sys Admin or Network engineer later down the line. I just need IT experience and wondering if a computer hardware technician is a good first step towards my later goals?
(Also lmk if there is any other threads with advice)
