Hello, i got a message on my main disk „Your PIN is no longer available” and that i have to set it up again, it was probably because i updated my bios. Now i can’t set it up again because my microsoft account was connected to a email to which i don’t have password. I decided to install windows on other disk and from it i have access to all files from my main disk. My question is, can i somehow disable that message on my main disk, from this one?

2024.05.19 17:44 Wanderor-Cross Verizon Account Login Issues?

So last night I got an email saying they noticed strange activity and disabled my password, I did not click the link in my email and instead went to my app to see and I get a login error. Seemed like maintenance so I figured I would wait until this morning but now Verizon sent me a text with the same thing and I get an error logging in from the app or my web browser...
I cannot get to reset or anything else it just keeps saying they cannot process my request. The email link seems legit as well but I finally tried that and get the same error. Just want to see if perhaps they were having a website issue or if this was something specific to my account.
Thanks

2024.05.19 16:31 rendered_insentient Recommended Sign-In option for Windows 11

Recommended Sign-In option for Windows 11
Hi everyone!
Recently, I reinstalled Windows 11 Pro on my laptop and after going into the Sign-In options menu, I see that the option to set the password is missing.
https://preview.redd.it/0o6kac8s8e1d1.png?width=861&format=png&auto=webp&s=2671cf68f69c34d9d8ce8c63d0d3f03c2af99f32
For context, my Windows account is connected to my Microsoft account (it is not a local account).
The question is, should I try to find some roundabout way of enabling the password sign-in option or should I just use the PIN and enable all characters to be able to set a "password" this way? What is the best practice here?
Thank you in advance!

Call center inbound

2024.05.19 15:02 x69xthrowaway69x M1 MBP randomly asks me to enter a pin to sign in / wake from sleep

As above. When waking from sleep (e.g. first use in the morning) I usually use my TouchID or type in my password. Every so often, but now with increasing frequency, it asks me to enter my PIN to log in - even though I don't have a pin set. The box says PIN, but the prompt actually says enter password. I've googled this and have had vague results thus far. It's getting extremely annoying because it happens every 2 weeks or so and I lose a lot of unsaved work every single time.

Samsung TV Parental Controls - How to Lock Apps & Channels With a Password For Childproof Viewing
I recently had to childproof my Samsung TV from inappropriate content, and I found some great ways to set up parental controls to lock apps and channels with a password.
Here’s a summary of all that you need to know about parental controls on any Samsung TV, tested by me and some others.
Full article here: https://pointerclicker.com/how-to-lock-apps-on-samsung-tv/
NOTE: If you’re looking for a more detailed step-by-step guide complete with demo images, just check out the hyperlink under the heading's name.

Use Parental Controls

Samsung TV parental controls let you block certain movies, TV shows, or channels based on their ratings.
You can also lock apps with mature content. To get started, you need to set a unique PIN on your Samsung TV.

Set a PIN on Samsung TV

Setting a PIN is the first step to enabling parental controls:
  1. Go to Settings > General > System Manager > Change PIN.
  2. Enter the default PIN 0000.
  3. Set your new PIN.
For 2022 or newer Samsung TV models:
  1. Open Settings > All Settings > General & Privacy > System Manager > Change PIN.
  2. Enter the default PIN 0000 and then set your new PIN.

How to Lock Apps on Samsung TV

To lock apps and keep them inaccessible without the PIN:
  1. Press the Home button on your remote, go to Apps.
  2. In the top right corner, click Settings.
  3. Highlight the app you want to lock, select Lock, and enter your PIN.

How to Block Programs By Rating

You can block content based on its rating to ensure only age-appropriate shows are accessible without a PIN:
  1. Press the Home button, go to Settings > Broadcasting > Program Rating Lock.
  2. Enter your PIN.
  3. Select the appropriate age range.
For 2022 or newer models:
  1. Go to Settings > All Settings > General & Privacy > Parental Settings.
  2. Enter your PIN and select the appropriate rating lock.

How to Lock Channels on Your Samsung TV

Blocking adult channels can help keep your kids away from inappropriate content:
  1. Press the Home button, go to Settings > Broadcasting > Apply Channel Lock.
  2. Enter your PIN to activate the feature.
For 2022 or newer models:
  1. Open Settings > All Settings > General & Privacy > Parental Settings > Apply Channel Lock.
  2. Enter your PIN, select the channels to lock, and save.

How to Identify Adult Content

Starting with 2022 models, Samsung TVs automatically label adult channels, but you can also enable this feature manually:
  1. Go to Settings > All Settings > General & Privacy > Parental Settings > Mark Adult Channels.
  2. Use the Apply Channel Lock feature to manage those marked channels.

Can I Lock My Samsung TV Entirely?

While you can't lock your TV entirely, you can lock the control panel:
  1. Go to Settings > System > General > Panel Lock > On.
  2. For some models, go to Settings > System > Expert Settings > TV Control Button Lock.
For certain models: Press Mute > 119 > OK to access the secret menu and enable Panel Button Lock.
Samsung TV parental controls are a great way to manage what your children watch.
Set a PIN, lock apps, block programs by rating, and lock channels to create a safer viewing environment.
If your kids love pressing TV buttons, enable the panel lock feature.
How do you ensure your kids stay safe when using your Samsung smart TV? Let us know in the comments below!

2024.05.19 11:32 Any-Background1659 Was this from too much alcohol or did they put something in my drink? help

Hi guys. I am making this publication because I feel worried and I would like you to please read my case and respond to me based on your experience. I really need it... and I don't know if it's this the right forum...
I am a 25 year old man who attends parties and drinks alcohol occasionally and with self-control, my head may spin, but I am always aware and remember everything. On Saturday, May 11, I attended a party where I went alone and was drinking and socializing with different groups. I have no idea how much I drank all night, but it was several sips of a 6% vodka carbonated drink. I believe that from 11 p.m. until 4 a.m it will have been 1 liter in total, I think. I usually drink little by little, but when the party got exciting around 3:30 a.m It was when I started drinking the drink as if it were water (By then I had already joined another group). At 4:20 a.m They were already throwing us out of the place because they were already closing and I left with this group walking towards the whereabouts (which was 20 minutes from where we were). By then my condition was normal, I was not sleepy and much less drunk, I was super aware of what was happening around me. A few minutes later while I was walking... in the blink of an eye I wake up in a hospital with an serum IV, but only for a brief moment because then in another blink of an eye I remember that I am getting to my room with the help of my relatives and the first thing I do is turn on my PC, I could barely write and I tried to look for answers and what had happened, but my head hurt a lot like I had a hangover. (My jacket, my glasses, my cell phone, my card were stolen, and the password had been changed on one of my emails) After that I don't remember much, I think I went to sleep and got up the next day in the early morning more aware. That day I had not eaten anything all day.
In my emails he said he had done a transfer at 4:52 a.m. and another at 08:06 a.m. and I wonder: How? Because to enter mobile banking you need a pin number (I don't have my fingerprints registered in the app, only to unlock my cell phone) and then according to my Google route at 4:48 a.m. I was already at the whereabouts, where they found me lying on the ground 3 hours and later notified my relatives. Why can't I remember anything? Is it possible that I was drugged or did I just drink too much? This is the first time this has happened to me and I am worried about how I was able to be so accessible to give important information, because I have no signs of having been physically attacked and to this day I have a slight taste bitter in my mouth.
My mom shows me the photos of that day in the hospital where I look terrible, my eyes drooping, staring at nothing, and super serious. She said that sometimes she would shake (maybe from the cold) and she could barely get up. The only words I said to my mother were: How did you get there? How did you find me? She also says that I was the one who had given the number when the police had found me lying there. (He tells me all this days later)
It's been 1 week since then, I've cried a lot and I can't sleep because I can't understand how this happened to me, but I'm grateful to God for being alive and without any injuries.
Has something like this happened to you? Some answer? How does the body of a person with excess alcohol function? Do they really faint? In the sense that they faint fall to the ground? Or is there another type of internal fainting? I'm new to this and I would appreciate if you could answer me, please. Sorry for my English, I'm using a translator.
Thank you.

PC keeps dying randomly and not sure how to diagnose the problem, please help!
Sorry for the long post. I have always been a Mac user and this is my first PC. I built it myself. I probably haven't used all of the correct windows terms and my experience and knowledge of windows is pretty poor.
TLDR: My PC has started randomly shutting itself off suddenly, as if somebody went and ripped the cord from the wall. How do I go about diagnosing this issue?
I think it is either hardware related or an issue with the BIOS, as this has happened early on in the boot process, right as the BIOS screen pops up. I checked all the connections to the Mobo and none were loose that I could find. The power cable is firmly planted in the socket. I put in a fresh CR2032 battery into the mobo but that didn't help.
SPECS:
  • OS**:** Windows 11
  • Motherboard: Gygabyte x570s Aero G
  • CPU: AMD Risen 9 5900X
  • GPU: EVGA GEFORCE RTX 3090
  • PSU: Corsair RMX850x
  • RAM: GSkill Tridentz 32GB (2x 16gb)
  • Main Drive: Samsung 990 Pro NVME 2tb
  • Scratch/Secondary Drive: Samsung SSD 1tb (SATA)
  • AIO: Fractal Design S36
PROBLEM & TROUBLESHOOTING: It's pretty random when it happens but at first it seemed like it was when I was writing to hard drive (downloads, moving files, installing programs, nothing too intense). However it has started happening so frequently that within 15 minutes of booting up the computer it's shutting off.
At first I thought it was a software issue and decided to do a full system reset - erase everything, install fresh copy of windows. Then it lost power during one of the early stages of the reset - I think the system was still "preparing" as I am still able to boot into windows and my files are still there. I can't even get the computer to stay on long enough to do a factory reset.
Then it happened during the boot process, before the BIOS loads. I am pretty sure this indicates a hardware or BIOS problem more likely - correct?
As stated in TLDR, I looked over all the connections to the Mobo, PSU, etc. and everything seemed fine. I swapped out the generic CR2032 battery that keeps the BIOS settings (maybe?) - this didn't help but it did make the system forget the PIN and I now have to enter my password to log in.
Is there a log I can look at to see what was happening at the moment it lost power? (Even if there is, is it possible for a layman to read it?) Any sort of self-test? Obvious things to look at? Please any help is greatly appreciated.

2024.05.19 00:40 DJSpeedBuff Update broke my drivers? (Windows 10)

So before work the other day I clicked Update and Shut Down and left. When I came back, my computer said “We couldn’t complete the updates, undoing changes”. I have gotten this message multiple times now even after deleting SoftwareDistribution folders and files both in normal mode and save mode. Additionally, my Wi-Fi no longer works, my “Audio Service is not running”, I can’t use my PIN anymore (have to login with Microsoft password), and I get error messages saying the dependency service or group failed to start. Can’t locate my network drivers either (which is an external usb) Windows security center service is also turned off. Basically having issues with all my services/drivers…
Any fixes?? Been at this all day and nothing has helped

DS1821+ Login issues
So I got a mail to update certain packages. I used the app to update the package on my phone and after that I started getting the error "You're not authorised to use this service". When I tried to login with my user name (admin account) the blue circle after entering the password kept on going on and on. I tried through quickconnect and it would throw me back at the user name page. A few Google searches later I was down on my knees with a pin in my hand and did the "1 beep" reset.
Next I found the nas (different IP address) and did what was suggested

I'm still unable to login. The blue circle is still going on spinning.

2024.05.18 23:00 Happy_Experience2566 I lost all my savings to my wife and in laws

Hello everyone, I’ll be using a throwaway for this one.
I’m from Albania and work in computer science. I got married 4 years ago to a woman I was quite fond of for so long. It was a dream come true. My late mother was there for my wedding and a year into the marriage. I used to let my mother use my laptop for her shows and the news. She loved technology but often ended up accidentally locking the computer, so I decided to set her fingerprint as the password along with my pin.
A couple of months later, I was assaulted in an armed robbery and suffered injuries to my skull and spine. I was on bed rest for 8 months and felt numb. It was the lowest state I’d ever been in. My wife visited me, but I didn’t know what was going on. All I could do was nod when she spoke to me. Once I regained my health, she was there until the day I was told to go home. I waited for her for an hour before calling a cab.
When I got home, I found another man and his kids in our apartment. They said they had rented the place for 3 months. Confused, I called my landlord. He said my wife left with my mother 4 months ago, saying she was moving closer to the hospital. I called her many times but got no answer.
My cousin called and asked if I would accompany him to my mother’s grave since he just got back from his job. I almost passed out when he told me she had died two months ago. He told me my wife and in-laws had buried her. I went to the police and asked for an investigation. After a couple of days, they told me my wife had moved. My laptop was found at a tech shop after they’d sold it.
When I checked my PayPal, my balance was only $29 out of the $7,340 I had. I was heartbroken and felt like throwing up. The tech shop refused to return my laptop because my wife had unlocked it for them using my mother’s fingerprint.

Never trust HDFC bank as primary account
I did a simple communications address change 5 weeks back. To change my branch from one city to another. I'm a Imperia customer. So they gave me a relationship manager.
The process needs to be done from an online form. The form was stupid and complicated. Got poor help from manager. It automatically took my aadhar address and updated it as my communication address.
Now this was beginning of blunder. I decided to visit the branch nearby and get this sorted. Lady over there provided me same form and guided me. This time showed where and how to put my new address. I did. I told her about previous application that was done 2 days back. She told me to not worry as it was over ridden by this new process. But told me a document will be sent to my this new address, and it needs to be received or else my account will be frozen.
That exact thing happens as both the applications were still active and 2 documents were sent. Only 1 received. My acc got blocked. I had to wait to visit Bank coz of bank holiday. Got worst possible service, the same lady was non challant like this issue was a minor one, till I escalated and met the branch manager, he understood the severity of the matter. He immediately started the steps. Told me he'll send his own employee to my home and get this verification done today. But then it will still take 4-5 working days to get my acc unblocked. Till then manage.
I was royally pissed coz this is my main acc and I needed to pay the bills as it was month start. He assisted again in doing neft from branch to my other accounts.
I thought the matter was closed once my acc got activated after 5 days. But no this bad luck continues to haunt me. Again I received a mail today, posted above that my acc has been blocked again.
Never trust HDFC for primary banking partner.

2024.05.18 16:25 denisbence Advice needed: New laptop (Thinkbook/Thinkpad) for Fedora and compatibility concerns

Recently I was deciding between Asus Zenbook and Lenovo Thinkbook. Original thread: - https://www.reddit.com/Fedora/comments/1c9jvrs/advice_needed_getting_a_new_laptop_to_permanently/ I was advised about poor compatibility with Linux in general and was told to check Lenovo Thinkpads.
I was deciding between Thinkpads E14, E16, L14, L16, T14, T16 Original threads: - https://www.reddit.com/Fedora/comments/1cpimz6/thinkpads_e14_l14_t14_and_fedora/ - https://www.reddit.com/thinkpad/comments/1cpin7v/thinkpads_e14_l14_t14_and_fedora/ I realized that series T is most probably out of my budget and also series L seems debatable. Series E I was told to maybe avoid, but I would be fine with that price. I would really just want to buy Thinkbook G5 or G6, but since I was told to avoid it for compatibility reasons, I am now stressing out with the decision about Thinkpads.
I really wish to make final decision what to get, and I was thinking to maybe not get the latest Thinkpad generation, but maybe one of the previous generations of T14. I do not want to buy an used laptop, but I am totally fine with getting new older version, if I can find it. I do not need any high processing power, since I plan to use it only for basic use. As long as it is Ryzen 5 or 7 from last 3 or 4 years, I'll be fine long-term for sure.
Mostly I am afraid to make a purchase, Thinkbook or Thinkpad, because I am not completely sure what components I have to double check for compatibility. If I am not wrong, I should avoid Qualcomm network cards? I will be fine with Intel cards? Since I already excluded Nvidia I suppose I will be fine with any integrated or Radeon graphic card?
What is important to me: - Charger 65W with USB-C and easy connectivity to dock/hub or later if I get a Dell 34 with dock upstream integrated - Would be nice to have two USB-C ports, but I can also just use some port extended on the dock/hub if needed more, it is not such deal breaker - AMD Ryzen 5 or 7 - RAM 16GB, either out of the box or upgradable - Graphics integrated/Radeon - HDMI 2.1 - Wifi card that works, at least AC speeds
What I can accept if not working: - Fingerprint, would be nice if works, but I can live without it and use password/pin - Touchpad, would be nice if works, but I need it once per year and can live without it
I would appreciate any advice
