2024.05.19 19:09 ferafaces How do you sort your patterns?

I've been spending most of my free time (that I can't crochet during, anyways) scrolling through patterns on Ravelry and Etsy, saving ones that I'd like to make either for myself or for practice reasons. I'm looking to sort my practice bookmarks. I'm torn between sorting between yarn size first followed by category, or category first then yarn size.
How do you sort the patterns you've saved so you can decide what to make in the future?

Am I turtlely enough?
I made this wonky North American Box turtle for may dad for his birthday this coming weekend. Do you think he will like it?
Made with scrap polyester yarn. It was inspired by this pattern found on etsy. https://www.etsy.com/listing/887529310/tortoise-amigurumi-crochet-pattern?click_key=754efd5972033de0090d14139b5a736bdf7d4b1c%3A887529310&click_sum=0ae894ba&external_collection=&frs=1

2024.05.19 18:13 gunblade17 Pattern Reading

Pattern Reading
I’m relatively new at this but feel I’m doing well. I decided to try some patterns from a pokemon crochet pattern book I bough and have been getting along fine until now. You’ll see in the picture that at some point it calls for 3sl.st. This reads as three slip stitches according to the book but I’ve never hear of nor can I find any information on such a thing. Anyone have any ideas of how to or what it should actually mean? Additionally, it says to tie off with a st.st. I’m assuming that’s an oops and means slip stitch.

2024.05.19 16:35 Just-world_fallacy Joining solid granny squares and solid granny pentagon ?

Hello !
I would like to make granny square shorts following a pattern which uses a pentagon, squares and triangles. These need to be joined at the end.
Someone on this sub pointed out that it would be very revealing. Therefore, I would like to use solid granny squares/pentagons/triangles instead of the original ones. Plus, the size of my squares is constrained, I am obtaining the size I want by making 4 rounds of double crochets + 1 round of single crochets. It gives me 18 chains + 2 on the corner trebles on the edge of the square.
The problem I have is that I am not managing to match the amount of stitches on one side of the pentagon to the number of stitches on the side of a square, and I could probably compensate it in the joining process, but what if not ?
For the squares, the recipe seems to be always the same, starting with the 1st round being 3 dc - 1tr 4 times to make 4 sides. Next rounds will have dc-dc-tr-dc-dc in each corner stitch.
For the pentagon, I have tried 2 things.
1- following instructions which told me to start with the 1st row being a circle. It then becomes a pentagon by doing dc-tr-dc in the same stitch then a dc increase in the next one on the 2nd and 3rd rounds, then only dc-tr-dc in the corners for the 4th round and following.
2- Making a pentagon since the 1st round by including 4 trebles every 3 double crochets in the magic circle. 3 double crochets and 1 treble for a corner was the recipe for the 1st round of my solid square. Therefore I thought I would simply add one side to the pentagon.
With this method, I have the feeling that if I add the extra double crochet increase in the 3rd round, it gets pretty wobbly.
Except that of course the number of increases are not the same on the sides of the pentagon than on the sides of the square, the pentagon increases of 3 per side on 2 rounds, and then only by 2...
-> Now that I write this, I realize that after 4 rounds, my pentagon has 12 chains on one side including corner trebles. It should theoretically match my square if I do 3 rounds more. But would I be correct if I did this ? Or should I find a trick to match the number of rows AND final stitches on one side of the pentagon and squares ?
I suppose that in order to do this I would need to put more double crochets in the magic ring in the 1st row between the corner trebles.
I have some math to do, but if someone had an easy recipe for the length of one side of the pentagon to match the length of one side of the square, it would be perfect !
Thanks in advance for your help !

2024.05.19 16:31 Jekka28 I need help with this amigurimi pattern, please!

https://mohumohu.com/amigurumi-bee-free-crochet-pattern/
This bee pattern is adorable, and I'm not a beginner per se, however the pattern says to work the amigurumi in rounds and not join/ch to start new rows. However, the images of the bee color changes don't show the telltale "lip" or "bump" when working in the round. Is there a method I'm not aware of to do color changes that keep the rounds separate like this? Or is the pattern written incorrectly to get the bees in the photos?
Thanks again for any help or advice!

Could anyone please help me read this pattern?
I’m new to crocheting and I found this top pattern on Etsy that looked quite easy by looking at it, but oh my god instructions couldn’t be more confusing 😵‍💫 Only now I have noticed many negative reviews saying it is so difficult to follow… Maybe someone with more experience understands it and could help? 🥲

2024.05.19 15:18 Mundane-Truth4767 Pattern Creators reccomendations?

Hi, friends!

I've been solely using Etsy to look for patterns but I'd love, love, love, to have some new sources of inspiration. I've heard of Ribblr and LoveCraft, although it'd also be lovely to get some recommendations of blogs, YouTube channels etc.

Thanks in advance for the help, let's keep crocheting! <3

2024.05.19 13:57 mxdakota a complaint from a big bellied crochet enthusiast

There are so many cute crop tops I’d love to make this summer (I’ve been seeing this arched rainbow-with-clouds halter all over Pinterest and NEED) but when form fitting crops ride up my belly and just disappear under my boobs… WHY DID I JUST CROCHET ALL THAT? So many hours of work only to be tucked away. Does anyone have any cute looser crop top options for being a big bellied hottie this summer?! I really can’t find anything I like while searching “plus size crochet patterns.” Bonus points if you can find one with an arched rainbow!

2024.05.19 13:13 CicadaHemiptera111 designated ugly friend

i just need to let this out. so me (f20) ay ang palaing mga duf sa friend group. i noticed this pattern from grade 7 until now na nasa college na ako. nung grade 7, my friends and i went out (take note, ang itsura ko pa rito ay puro pimples lol kasi well hormones) pero my friends that time, are all so pretty. nung una wala naman sakin kasi my friends (all of the friends na i'll share here) are good people and i'm so lucky to have them. but there are some situations where i just feel... shit. and so yun nag-picture kami, solo solo then group, tapos while i'm taking her photo, ang nasa utak ko lang "sobrang effortless, ang ganda".
nung senior high, dito ko yata nakilala pinakamagagandang tao (literally and figuratively) sa buhay ko. i'm just so glad that never akong naliliit when i'm with them, kasi like what i've said, they're the best. may mga scenarios nga lang akong naaalala kung saan medyo nainggit ako. kapag lalabas ako ng classroom, minsan may lumalapit sakin na guy (good looking), tapos birthday ko pa, tapos may dalang gift, di naman ako nag-assume kasi hello 😭 i know where i stand. but then, lumapit sakin, so nasa utak ko "shet eto na ba finally" pero no. he politely asked me to give his gift to my best friend. of course, i obliged naman. pero pag-uwi ko ng bahay, umiyak lang ako sa cr for 1 hour straight. i was so stupid for assuming that.
faat forward to now naman, in college, i have pretty friends (i think powers ko nang maka-attract ng pretty girlies in my life and i don't mind it) again. tapos we were talking about dating apps and pinapakota namin mga bumble profile namin sa isa't-isa, pati convos din. when i looked at her phone, i was shocked by the amount of matches and convos she has, tapos lahat ng guys doon ay super pogi! like! pero nung nakita ko naman yun, hindi naman na natrigger mga negative feelings ko about being the duf kasi di ko rin naman type mga matches niya kahit sobrang popogi (i'm more into nerdy‐spencer reid-seth cohen guys pero siya sa sporty and mga gym guys), at isa pa, wala pa ring tatalo sa nangyari nung bday ko lol.
