Hello, posting this to help people out who don't know what's going on.
When I first figured out I was being watched by these people I would try my best to avoid them and take side streets and nature paths in order to learn the extent I was being followed.
Turns out many many people, it seems like most people are apart of Neighborhood Watch and very few people were not invited.
My family and friends are apart of neighborhood watch and refuse to talk to me about it I don't know why. Well, they aren't my family and friends anymore because real friends & family don't do that.
I was told by someone who works for CSIS how to get off the watchlist here's how you do it:
Don't look suspicious, don't act paranoid, don't be negative or aggressive, don't do crime, live a normal life and pretty much just ignore it. Work your job, have a normal routine and stop associating with certain people in your life who might be a criminal.
Sounds odd because I've been getting stalked by these people since I was 13 but that was during a period where I was being bullied by people in my school immensely so that might have gave Neighborhood Watch an incentive to watch me in order for my protection.
Anyway not to talk too much about myself here... If you live your life for a long time, and I mean a long long time Neighborhood Watch and the Feds who are the mastermind behind this see that there is nothing going on with you they'll move on and stop watching you.
Right now, you're where the money's at. For whatever reason there's an incentive to watch you and that gives them a reason to do their job, write reports etc and gives them a reason to justify the surveillance and when these numbers where people are being watched they will be able to justify to courts why the need more funding for this type of surveillance.
I've been attacked by people on Neighborhood Watch many many times and have been set up several times to get arrested for crimes I didn't do. I've been set up so many times and it's all so they can justify why they need to watch me.... It's all BS they don't want to let me go, they want to aggravate me, harass me, stalk and attack me in order to keep me in a alert, panicked, negative and spiteful frame of mind in order for them to get me to retaliate and justify the surveillance for them in order for them to fill out reports to use in the courts so they can keep their numbers high, increase their fundings which will increase their pay, yadayadaya.
Stay out in the open, because they look for ways to attack and harass you in ways you'll have a hard time proving that they're doing that because these people are afraid of getting caught and are afraid of the police.
I've pissed off so many of these people by playing their game back (nothing illegal) and I've watched them get pissed off, yell at me, walk around me trying to find anything they can use to get back at me and what stops them is that they are in public and on camera, or other stalkers who WILL snitch on them are watching their move too because there are good, good and naive and ignorant stalkers who will snitch on their own stalkers if they see anything they do that's wrong. I've had stalkers snitch on other stalkers and tell the police that someone attacked me and that person got arrested and I doubt they're still on the Neighborhood Watch anymore.
I believe it's a CIA program at it's core trying to hurt people, manipulate people, behavior modify people whatever it is that CIA is known to do in the past I believe they're still doing it through Neighborhood Watch.... Mass shooters are on the rise and I believe CIA might be experimenting on people in ways where they can get away with it, just like how Neighborhood Watch people are trying to stalk you and harass you in ways they can get away with it and make it hard for you to prove it's happening.
Basically stay in the open, try your best not to retaliate, keep a normal routine and don't do anything illegal or shady and they'll see that nothing is going on with you over a LONG time and they'll move onto someone else. The person who works for CSIS told me that they'll come back and check up on you again, and again, a few times until they finally stop so keep that in mind. The stalkers are also getting stalked occasionally but they aren't away, like we are.
The best way to spot these stalkers is if they have their phone out and the phone camera is pointed at you these people always have their phone out, and earphones in their ear sometimes they'll keep it in one ear and sit on a bus or somewhere or walk by you with the other ear faced to you showing nothing's in their ear meanwhile they got an earpod often times in the other ear on the side not faced to you.
They'll show you if you confront them that they aren't recording you or that they don't have their voice call/face time up but they're able to minimize it or close it, then turn it back on when you aren't looking, I promise you they are face timing someone and that person who is face timing you is screen recording everything.
Ignore the posts about freemasons, illuminati, all that stupidness it's THEM trying to discredit people from speaking out and make us all sound crazy it's simply Neighborhood Watch and CIA/CSIS/NSA that's behind all of this, but the people on foot they're all Neighborhood Watch and they get paid by Patreon, it's all volunteer work some of them do get paid but it's from donations for example, some neighborhood watches have everyone donate $5 a month and pool it all together and these people get paid mcdonalds, or gift cards, and the extreme stalkers can up to $300 a week or more depending on how often they're stalking.
The intelligence agencies do recruit people from time to time, but most of the time, like 98% of the time it's simply Neighborhood Watch and disinformation assholes online trying to confuse everyone about what's actually going on.
Keep spreading the word, it's simply Neighborhood Watch and the Federal Intelligent Agencies behind all of this.... maybe you hit their radar for whatever reason just don't give them an incentive to watch you anymore like I said earlier and you'll be fine and remember, the stalkers occasionally get stalked too so don't take it personal and if you're dealing with bad neighbors harassing you maybe find legal ways to piss them off but legal, nothing illegal for example... crank up your music full blast (provided it's not past the legal limit) and put it up towards your ceiling or something like that.
Also.... one more important thing to tell you.
Some of these guys can see through your walls right? Yeah, I'm very familiar with this.
Look up the device called VAYYAR.... It allows people to see through the ceiling, the floor and the walls and it's very cheap this is the sort of device they use to spy through the walls and also please check your outlets because I had a pinhole camera in my washroom very nasty stuff they did to me but I want to spread the word because I wanna help anyone I can out there.
For police who try to suggest mental health problems, simply say you aren't a danger to yourself and others, and don't say you're mad or violent or anything negative just keep it simple and they'll have nothing they can use to apprehend you and put you in a mental hospital because some of them who know what's going on usually the supervisors want to make you scared and shut you up but I'm not a conformist not in the slightest and neither should you be.... Stand up for yourself we're dealing with evil vigilantes who are told propaganda about us in order to get them to sometimes hate us and they feel justified in doing what they're doing to us.
There's many ways to legally piss people off just in case your case is severe and you're dealing with people who are maliciously trying to hurt you and get away with it, and no cops are helping you. I've seen cases where they were jumping on someone's tiny home at night and throwing eggs at someone's house, or meeting someone where there's no cameras and assaulting their target and running off and cops don't help that person it's terrible and you don't need to put up with that so I'll tell you some tips:
Take a picture with your flash on and let them know you took a picture of them. Sometimes they'll get right in front of you and/or yell at you.... it's just them trying to intimidate you into stopping but they will not and cannot touch you because they know other stalkers are watching this go down, or cameras are in the area do not be intimidated even if it's a big scary looking person if you know they're a stalker then do not be intimidated at all it's all BS trust me, they will not touch you, and in the odd case they do press charges and get that stalker the jail time they need and file a lawsuit against that person and get paid if you can but 99.99% of the time they will not touch you, they'll only act like they will.
Don't take pictures of any children or teenager follows or harassing you, especially since they're children just accept that they've been duped and if they're actually breaking the law though and you can prove it, like if they're harassing you then video tape of course and protect yourself but only if you can prove it 100%
Be careful with taking videos and pictures, because sometimes they are recording you and won't stop or react as you're doing it and then they'll post what you're doing on their Facebook, Twitter, instagram, snapchat, youtube or wherever else even Discord and will frame you as a weirdo even though they are so be careful.
If you're walking by, no one's going to blame you for being a Klutz and accidentally step on their shoes or toes, I mean, things happen right?
Or if you have a water bottle you bought from the store and the lid is hard to open, no one is going to blame you if you accidentally open the water bottle and your arm flings to the side with the bottle in hand and you end up splashing one of them in the faces.
No one is going to blame you, if you have a coffee in your hand and you trip and you spill it all over them, or if you walk by and your heavy bag hits them in the head, I mean these are all accidents and no one can blame you for it just make sure you're not doing it on purpose ;)
They want to play their game, well there are ways we can play this back. We don't have to be as careful anymore when it comes to being considerate, or being mindful of where peoples feet are on the bus or subway, or wherever we no longer need to be mindful just don't do anything on purpose ;) and you're all good.
If you're being tailed by a stalker and cops won't listen to you.... Go to a side street at night as you're being stalked and while this is taking place, have in your trunk some big thick and possible sharp gravel or rocks in a bag and dump them all over the road where you know your stalker will be driving... lets say they drove past you... They'll take a U-Turn and drive back, so dump it wherever you know they'll be coming and say F them and their tires, they shouldn't be stalking you anyway.
I'll try to make more posts in the future if i can but I believe the Mods on this subbreddit are the ''Gangstalkers'' and they are controlling what is put out there so in case this post doesn't even make it, I'll simply just PM everyone on a day to day basis with this information instead and I'll make my own subreddit and PM everyone to join that one if the Mods feel like playing that game by censoring true and helpful information.
This is how things are right now the World isn't perfect. You're not the only one, bad people are in this World don't take it personal. Find God, find Spirituality find something meaningful and don't let anyone take that away from you be strong.

Today! Today issued forth these existential moments, when the absence of human activity is the defining feature of the landscape – not because there is a disaster or a change of heart about the human project but because, well, I don’t know, so I grab my backpack, which stands for aspects of the soul that only sprout in alternate realities – and charge into the day to find out. By noon, the heat is like a flickering color in the mind – unseasonably early for this sort of highlight, and then I remember the cicadas are appearing, which might explain the sudden interest by the rest of the universe. Not halfway down the block, I’m startled by the first cicada of the season – near the top of the tallest tree by the building that houses the renowned music program. The cicada makes music all by itself, and it is like a siren made of clicks, a drumstick pulled across bones.
This is just the beginning of the historical emergence, and the location where I live is one of the nationally recognized hot spots. The people, I don’t believe, have evacuated, but they certainly aren’t rubbing their hands over the trembling earth, waiting for bulging eyes and knobby legs to drag a dirt-stained cicada out of the ground, then off to a place to molt. The molting process is brimming with the sort of metaphor we associate with heaven – something below ground for its whole remembered life, save for a brief time after it hatches, falls out of a tree and into the grass, crawls down into the soil to find a tasty dandelion root to suck on. That original body, on the brightest day of the year, goes searching for a hard vertical surface to cling to, like the side of the tree it was feeding on, then escapes out of its body through the hind end of its own skull.
The heat seems to have its own sense of choice in evidence. While I’m standing there, listening for more clicks, the heat generates a crackling sensation across my shoulders, like patches of my skin are sparkling below my shirt. The clouds – more of those cumulonimbus dreams-come-true – are simultaneously isles and aisles – two bulging eyes – both work, so whichever, either one a somewhat brawny pronunciation, like the words have to walk with a slight bow about the legs, because of the pronounced thigh muscles. Just as I turn to walk away from the lone cicada at the top of the school of music’s tallest tree, the clicking begins again. I stop and turn back to the tree – it stops. I turn to walk, and the clicking sounds again. Maybe the cicada brood will be so large, the movie we call reality has given them final cut, at least for the next few months, so I carry on.
That cicada was a female – they make that clicking sound by rubbing their wings together, and I picture the males all hearing the clicking as a variation of – could some big strong male crawl on over and open this jar for me? The male call is the more familiar whooping siren, which is made with a spasmodic diaphragm on their abdomens – Jerry Lee Lewis at his most raucous – though I believe he did play piano with his feet, so there are dissimilarities, too. The big winners will be the birds and fish, which are looking forward to extra animal protein wherever they look for the next couple of months, second nesting seasons all but in the bag. At the height of his fame, Jerry Lee famously wedded his 13-year-old cousin. Myra Williams was her name, and she said later, after the divorce, she was always the adult in the relationship. They stayed married for 13 years.
Scientists speculate that cicada broods follow such irregular cycles – 7 years, 13 years, 17 years – because they are prime numbers and therefore difficult for predators to sync to over time in the performance of their own boom and bust cycles. I like this theory, though I wonder why the rest of the animal kingdom hasn’t likewise worked the numbers – like cicadas launched themselves into a probabilistic deep-space orbit inside the mind of nature, and never looked back. I picture Neil Armstrong on the ladder of the lunar module, freezing in place, mission command busy on the radio but no reply from Neil until, all wet and new, he bursts forth through the back of his space helmet, as naked as the day he was born, gets busy inflating his wing casings, as mission control cheers, and the scientists all light cigarettes to relieve the stress, maybe hand out cigars.
The heat is a measure of energy in the system – to the extent it also accounts for human absence, we stay huddled inside on hot days like today due to chronic overabundance – nature is giving us too much – which is also true for many allergies and fevers – but with the overabundance of energy, you can find relief through the judicious application of even more energy, which option I used to always forego on general principle – I want to feel the reality of days overabundant as surely as days where the molecules are all optimally excited. These days, I’m in charge of a mid-sized HVAC operation, and thus, feel part of my body living inside a factory of probability that stretches around the world. We humans, on days like today, take it as a given that temperature-controlled climates are part of the deal, that molecules should be in optimal states of excitement.
Which, with self-similarity across scale in mind, might suggest nature treat our excitability with similar regard. Oh to live the life of temperate climes, where fairness and passion are concerned! I’m on my way to the library to borrow a book about love and rage, written by a Buddhist, who examines the roll of anger in transformation. I have no truck with my fellow human sufferers – literally no anger at all – but with human systems? Disembodied intelligences? Those aspects of the hyperform that privilege torment and indifference? When it climbs to a high enough part of the tree to be heard, I can indeed hear my anger. What’s that? A false reality precipitates false authority? Yet knowing this, hyperforms readily believe wealth confers merit. The exaggerated accumulation of capital is an existential disease assuaged with the delusion of personal success.
A block from the library, I come upon two boys playing in a pile of sand beside a garden. The one boy seems to be trying to burrow inside it, and the other is battering the sand with the flat side of a child-sized metal shovel. He has the wrong shovel for the job, a fact I choose to keep to myself, especially since the one really is trying to thwack the tall pile just as hard as he can. The sort of thing kids do in a spirit of curiosity – what happens to the world when the force of one’s anger is applied to a giant pile of sand? Perhaps the urge to use force for no reason is the human behavior we end up with when ambient energy gets so overabundant. This is what life seems to be – the planet’s novel approach to dissipating heat. We are much more than that, of course, and fortunately, the kids have plenty of time and energy to prove it. Their parents tell them to stop.
When a cicada molts, the effect is more than just a body crawling out of a body – for instance, in the moments before this happens, the cicada is visibly squirming inside its former self, which is permanently clinging to the side of a tree, and all the while, it is feeling the pronounced effect of gravity for the first time in its life, not to mention terrestrial life in the trees, where the sap flows freely and sunshine dances on those giant globular eyes for the first time. Emerging cicadas first do a backbend, then hang upside down by their hind ends, letting the legs, wings and abdomen inflate and adjust to the atmospheric pressure, which pressure gracefully draws the body back to an upright posture. They stay that way, letting their wings inflate, flatten out, stiffen. Veins in the wings were veins, were flesh, before the flesh became the will to fly, a means of saying hello.
Nearer the library, I catch sight of someone squatting in the subsurface terrace of the Unitarian-Universalist peace church – I spot a bedroll and backpack, a forty-ounce can of something cold to drink on such a sweltering day. The guy is leaning against the brick wall, staring into space, and I picture him being the pile of sand from the block before – the one repeatedly hit over the head with the flat side of a shovel. At the library, they’re resetting the furniture after a musical performance. I don’t really know who it was – I just see my favorite librarian thanking someone with a violin case, the sort of hardened case they used to carry machine guns around in, and for a moment I hear the rat-a-tat-tat that stands for the sound of anger overcoming us – but then it becomes that highest cicada, back at the top of her tree, rubbing her wings, building railroads.
The heat on the walk home – neighborhoods still evacuated – is like a drunken horse I’m forced to ride. I can feel my body swaying from side to side a little more than usual, so I try to imagine some other time – for instance, when our bodies will be able to take the heat on a day like today and do something with it – cranial stimulation or micromachines to repair the body or even just a way for the body to stay cool without installing an HVAC system. A crow stops me cold when I hear it imitating the sound of a cicada – it doesn’t have the tone exactly right, but it’s doing the clicks, and I know this is true of crows – they acquire new elements of language from what they hear, and the crows must be hearing female cicadas calling out to the others. What a witness! I call up to the crow – or maybe it’s just got a cicada in its beak. In instant reply, the crow shrieks.

Some of the commenters during Sunday's Stream mentioned the global campaign to bring federal lawsuits and petitions against videogame publishers who intentionally sabotage the functionality of videogames when the servers shut down. They wanted Ludwig to do a Mogul Mail about it. I wasn't 1 of those commenters, nor am I a representative spearheading this initiative, but I am somewhat familiar with what's going on and wanted to explain it here to see if others are interested. So what is going on?

The Crew

The videogame "The Crew", published by Ubisoft, was recently destroyed for all players and had a playerbase of at least 12 million people. Due to the game's size and France's strong consumer protection laws, this represents one of the best opportunities to hold a publisher accountable for this action. If we are successful in charges being pressed against Ubisoft, this can have a ripple effect on the videogames industry to prevent publishers from destroying more games.

Videogame companies are doing what all companies have been trying to do for years now: stop you from owning anything, and requiring you to rent everything.
Ubisoft’s Director of Subscriptions Phillippe Tremblay said: “...gamers are used to, a little bit like DVD, having and owning their games. That’s the consumer shift that needs to happen. They don't want you to own your games. They want to be able to take away the thing you "purchased", destroy it so it no longer works, and force you to buy something new.
GamePass
Gamepass is literally exactly what the corporate overlords are trying to push the entire industry toward: rentiership of all videogames. "Games as a Service" is a fraud.
It's not just videogames
Whenever you "buy" an ebook or movie from, say, Apple, Amazon, Google, etc., or a videogame from Steam, Sony, etc., you don't actually own that piece of digital media. You are renting the product and getting a perpetual license. That license can be revoked at any time for any reason by the company and you will have the thing you "bought" revoked.
This has happened a lot over the years. For example: Telstra.

...[Telstra] announced it would shut down the service in June. Customers were told that unless they moved over to another service, Fetch, they would no longer be able to access the films and TV shows they had bought.
This isn’t simply a case of Netflix removing Friends from the service when a content agreement runs out. These were films and shows people had bought with the expectation they could watch them whenever they wanted – indefinitely.
Vicki Russell posted on X last week saying she was being asked by Telstra to pay $200 for Fetch to retain access to what she said was $2,500-worth of purchases.

In 2019, Microsoft shut down their ebook store, erasing all customers' books from their devices. Fortunately, Microsoft offered a refund for the books purchased. Something they did to not raise customer ire, not because they were legally required to do so.

Attention -> This guide is highly opinionated, if you're looking for a post from a perspective from a highly experienced dev then you should probably stop reading and check out other posts. I've been working full-time for over 2 years only but I've been a part of startups in different capacities for the past 4 years, either as an intern or a contractofreelancer. Resources might be outdated but still check them out and decide accordingly, but in my opinion you should read my post since, I fall under these buckets ->

NON CS and Tier 2/3/4.. College -> I had 50k+ rank in JEE and was only able to land Civil in a Tier 3 college due to home state quota, later got a circuit branch from branch upgrade.
Off Campus Placement -> I had already started freelancing since culture at a company is a very very crucial to me and I loved the freelancing lifestyle this I skipped on campus placements altogether. Also due to freelancing I was making more than what all the companies who were part of our placement drive were offering.
Got placed primarily due to my past experience and projects as opposed to my CP ranking -> I asked my HR why was I hired and she mentioned that it was my past experience + projects which caught their attention, of course I went through their standard selection rounds but they still preferred my profile over Tier 1 students with good coding platform ranks due to my past work experience.
Consistent earning -> While someone can dismiss my current job as a fluke I've a history of making good money($20K in 6 months from scratch) through freelancing with multiple clients and was able to translate that experience into a job at a startup as well. My PPO comp was 40 base and a very sizeable portion of equity of a very fast growing startup. If we were to do the cringy CTC calculation it was a 1 CR+ job offer.

What makes someone hire a candidate?

I've interviewed over 40+ people and 4 batches of interns. Working at a startup has allowed me to be very close with recruiting process and work with recruiter with over 10+ years in premier MNCs and startups and there's a lot that goes into hiring but I think it can be put into some buckets.
Hiring for interns/freshers -> We personally don't hire for freshers roles and instead all junior devs go through our intern process but this is where the most non traditional profiles can break in tech early. I've noticed that for senior roles a lot of emphasis is given to the the companies they've worked in and which team were they a part of. Working folks might be aware that for senior roles usually the hiring manager personally have a chat before adding the candidate in interview pipeline and based on our debriefs I've noticed that institute rarely comes up but rather their work at the teams that they've been a part of takes the highest priority. Now a argument can be made that being from a Tier 1 institute allows the ability to get a headstart but a lot of folks are able to breakthrough into big tech even after working at WITCH so entering into high paying startups isn't that big of deal for them as tech profiles converge the more experienced one get. For interns and freshers a solid development and a mix of coding platforms experience should get you a job in startups with a very high probability.
To put more emphasis in why profiles matters let's take a look at a couple of profiles that I'm personally aware of ->
My friend working at a High Growth Seed Round
Highlights of his profile ->

Very very low ranking Engineering College.
No prior intern at a big company instead mixture of work at small startups and his own ventures.
Didn't apply for a job at all since he was also happy as a freelancer but finally decided to work at a startup and got a job in flat 16 days.
Comp-> 16 lpa base + seed round equity.

The best part about this friend why how deep his profile was. He has always been passionate about computers since school time and had experience in cyber security, crypto, fullstack-development,etc. As you can guess the secret of how quickly he was able to get a job was how many past experiences he had. When he started finding jobs at wellfound.com he was able to get calls from a couple of startups and he had a offer within 20 days. Wellfound was a a suprisingly good place to find jobs at small startups since my friend was able to receive a lot of calls for interview rounds.
My batchmate working at a FAANG equivalent MNC ->

Same college as mine.
Prior intern at a MNC but overall mid projects and a couple of development profiles and hackathons under his belt.
Average codeforces profile but experience of solving a lot of questions hence able to breeze through leetcode rounds.
Got a on campus placement here so didn't apply anywhere.
Comp -> 20l base + ~60l in equity.

His profile is a mix of development and a lot of coding rounds but the curious case in his case was how a lot of candidates with similar profiles in coding platforms or even better were knocked out from the selection process in the system design round. His previous experience in development surely helped him here in comprehending system design case studies and hence he was able to ace this round whereas others with better coding profiles weren't able to do so.
My batchmate working at FAANG and now a high growth startup ->

Same college.
Prior intern at startups and deep experience in development since school which includes projects in full stack development, compilers and couple of hackathons.
Better than average codeforces profile and breezes through standard OA rounds due to lots of practise.
Comp -> 50+ CTC at FAANG earlier and 25l base at a startup now.

His profile is similar to the first profile but way more competitive coding experience as well. Similar deep experience in projects and very passionate about software engineering and computer science in general.
A common pattern amongst the profiles posted above and mine is development experience allowed us from low tier colleges to be able to get a job quickly. This matters a lot since you'll get calls for interview rounds doesn't matter how tough the market is though what will fluctuate is how much are these companies are offering.

All of your eggs in one basket

It's pretty easy to see how big the market for DSA and Algorithm is. Youtubers are popping left right and center, but is it worth investing all of your time in getting a great rating in Codeforces. First thing first let's make this very clear that standard interview questions are very different than competitive questions and while it is true that due to market saturation some companies have resorted to asking questions that you would see as part of codeforces rounds in their OA. This though isn't the norm and you can do fine if you're good enough for Leetcode rounds. My whole post can be described that we need to stand out from other profiles if we fall into buckets of Low ranking colleges , Non CSE branches, etc.

The following section is a collection of resources that I and my friends used during the placement process ->

Roadmaps -> Roadmaps, Roadmaps, Roadmaps. Youtube is filled with didi bhaiya trying to come up with the best roadmap that they can. Honestly speaking while there's nothing wrong with that I always prefer roadmaps which are open source and updated time to time by community or the author to stay relevant. Go to roadmap.sh and pick paths. Focus more on topics rather than content, find whatever resource you can to read up on topics rather than sticking to one youtube channel. Similarly for people who might not be from a CS background the Open Source Society University is a very popular roadmap to follow.
Resume -> I used the variations of the following template. Overleaf is a solid platform for creating resume in latex. Keep your resume simple and keep on iterating with what you should and shouldn't have. If you want you can always ask recruiters what they found nice in your resume and double down on expanding those sections.
Freelancing Platforms -> Personally for me Upwork worked very well, I was able to get the chance of working on a lot of high paying jobs but based on what I've heard from candidates and personally managing profiles for a couple of friends the platform seems to have shifted in terms of job quality a lot. I'm noticing a lot of low quality jobs, underpaid jobs which has made it highly unlikely for new candidates to break through here. I would personally not recommend Freelancer and Fiverr since they have low quality, low paying jobs as compared to Upwork. Also fiverr follows a marketplace model so hard for non experienced folks to get discovered.
1. If you're a experienced dev and have a solid profile and need a better platform as compared to Upwork checkout Toptal and A.team.
Job Platforms -> I personally had a great experience with Cutshort since it apart from applying on jobs as a candidates also has a strong emphasis on recruiters reaching out to candidates. Apart from that I've had a good experience with LinkedIn jobs purely in terms of response times. Atleast recruiters reached out quickly even though the quality of jobs wasn't great. As mentioned above wellfound.com is also a good resource for finding startup jobs. Apart from this cold mailing recruiters should be a part of your job hunting cycle. We used to go over startups which were recently funded and then messaging their client or staff for queries regarding openings.
Youtube channels -> I usually relied on the following channels during my prep and I what I usually watch as well.
1. Traversy Media -> Followed his tutorials the most.
2. Academind by Maximilian Schwarzmüller -> For learning full stack development I've mostly used his courses and honestly speaking they are amazing. I've also heard great things about her courses, Dr. Angela Yu.
3. Tech News and General Tech Videos -> Fireship.io, Ben Awad, Devon Crawford, ForrestKnight. They Ben and Devon aren't posting these days but they are the reason why I found tech to be super cool.
4. DSA and Algo Training -> Stick to no nonsense channels like TUF, Back To Back SWE, CS DOJO, Tushar Roy, NeetCode, Nick White, Priyansh Agarwal.

The background:
This is a long story because there's a lot of important background info that's relevant, but I want to start by saying my partner is a very kind, thoughtful, communicative, intelligent, and passionate man. We are from different countries, with different native languages, and are both currently living in my country (US). We met living in a major city, got very invested in each other very quickly, and after about 3-4 months he dropped a bomb that he'd applied for PhD programs all over the world and gotten into one in Europe. I have a really fantastic job and am pursuing an industry funded PhD in the city we met in, so moving was not an option for me. I had just gotten out of a LDR about a year prior to meeting him, and it really did not work for me because I value physical contact. But I really loved this man, he was so wonderful, treated me like an absolute princess in a way I've never really experienced, and I couldn't bare the thought of ending things, so we tried to make it work.
Fast forward, it's been like 2 more years. He reapplied to schools in the US and left his program in Europe to come back here and be closer to me (the visa issues and cost of the trans Atlantic flight were very difficult to manage). He is still a 2hr plane ride and 3 hour car ride away. This is tough because he doesn't have a car, but we see each other approximately every other month for at least a weekend, and spend summer break in my city.
For a variety of reasons, we are still really struggling. Our communication is off, and we have constant arguments and misunderstandings. I think we often miss each other because things are literally lost in translation (I am taking classes to learn his language, but we still primarily communicate in English). Our lives are now very different - I make a decent amount of money, travel frequently, I have roots in my city, and a good friend group and busy social life. This was how both of our lives were when we met, but he's now making very little money as a student and so he really can't travel even on a budget, a lot of his friendships have fallen off or moved away, and he's living in rural Midwestern US. I care so much but I'm losing track of what we had in common, and it's increasingly difficult for me to just "flip the switch" into relationship mode when he is here.
The conflict:
We had a very healthy but also honest conversation when he arrived for the summer a few weeks ago that neither of us were very happy, our communication is really poor, and decided that we would try to actively improve our relationship this summer and reassess if we wanted to continue in the fall. I didn't witness this, and he wouldn't or couldn't tell me what he said, but another roommate approached him to say this really wasn't okay and the person was hurt by his words. He brushed it off saying he didn't mean it. We've talked a lot about how what you mean isn't as important as how it is perceived, and that having a filter is important, and my roommate was echoing these exact things I've said to him (which I have never mentioned to her), so I very much believe it happened. The partner he said this to also lives in our house about 50% of the time. My roommates allow him to live with us rent free over the summers because he has to maintain a residence in the state his uni is in and is pretty much flat broke, but this is really just out of kindness on their part. They could very easily ask for addition rent (our rate was just hiked significantly) and besides that, he's disturbed the peace in my home, which I really do not like.
He then sat down next to me (I was playing video games on the couch with a male friend, who is recently engaged, very kind, and totally platonic) and my boyfriend started muttering under his breath about how I wanted this guy and we were fucking or something. I don't even think my friend understood it was directed at him, but I definitely did. At this point I brought my boyfriend upstairs because I didn't want him to say any more shitty things to my friends. I asked him very calmly what was going on and he could barely make eye contact, would not acknowledge what I was saying, and wouldn't give me any straight answers. He then proceeded to say a bunch of horrible shit about our relationship, how it was already over there was no point trying, I would be happier fucking other people. I cried and hyperventilated all night and sent him to a friend's in the morning. I should mention that I am the child of a really nasty drunk who used to say horrible things and not remember anything in the morning. This experience really really triggered me.
I've had several lesser unpleasant experiences with him while drinking, and one major one where he made a friend's partner cry in front of a huge group of people while drinking at a beer garden. In that situation, what the person was saying was shitty, and it was okay to call her out, but he couldn't exercise the self control to stop himself from hammering her into the ground about it to the point of tears. This woman is now engaged to his best friend and their friendship has never been the same since this happened. For someone who genuinely is a thoughtful and emotionally aware person, I think he really struggles to read the room. He's very proud of his country, generally stubborn, and politically opinionated and this can be really damaging combined with the communication issues I often experience with him. He is fluent in English, but doesn't understand a lot of nuances (how strong the word "hate" is, for example, or when someone is trying to politely change an uncomfortable topic). All of these traits get a lot worse with alcohol and while I don't think he's an addict, I do think he's shown a few times now that he is an angry drunk, which is very scary to me.
In the morning, he was very apologetic and accepted the blame and said he would take steps to fix this problem so he wasn't drunk like this around me again, but I fear he's damaged a relationship with my friends and housemates, and also with me, in a way that's not easily repairable. We were already struggling, and I was very committed to trying to resolve our differences, and work on our relationship, but I am no longer sure it's worth trying. This is something that will take a lot of time for me to get over, and we don't have that much time together, and we also don't have very much space. He is staying with friends for a few days but beyond that if I can't deal with sharing my room he just needs to go back to his state
Am I overreacting to this situation? Would you try and work it out? I recognize that this is a trigger for me, and maybe I could get past it with time. Our relationship was already a little broken, and now feels shattered. I am so sad sitting here without him, but I am so upset I don't know how to move forward. Is it just time to move on from this? I love this guy so much but maybe I am beating a dead horse here.
Tl;Dr Long distance relationship of ~2.5 years between people from very different cultures is constantly encountering obstacles related to communication, despite a lot of very healthy and honest discussions about it. The communication issues overflowed to my friends and roommates during a party, and dealing with my angry drunk boyfriend brought up a lot of trauma from being raised by an angry alcoholic. Unsure if I'm overreacting or if it's just time to cut this off.

I did this for every QR code and found... nothing valuable... All of the codes in the game are perfect. No flipped bits, no shenanigans. However the 2 qr codes that are NOT in the game did contain some differences.

This is called a remainder sector (last sector). It comes after all the meaningful information in the QR code. Basically (as far as I'm aware) it's garbage data and it can contain anything.
Was this all a waste of time? Not really, now we all know that there's really nothing in there. And now I know how qr codes work (:
p.s. before I figured out the method I described earlier, I attempted to decode the QR codes by hand, with a python script. I went quite far. but then I realized that you can just generate another code with the same input parameters.

I apologize in advance for the length of this behemoth Story time Reddit: Last night I was chilling at a camp grounds in upstate NYC and this really cute bartender was on her first day ever for the job, anyways I didn’t even notice her until a community dinner at 6pm when she got some food and went to the bar to get ready for the night because us folks at the camp were gonna party till LATE I’m 18M turning 19 and I had aspirations to be a bartender myself in the familiar country of Mexico where my family operates a gin booze business. she 22F just turned and I was eager to Yk like ask her how her first day on the jobs going right? Now I time goes by we all just chilling having dinner and our rolls out some Gigachad kitchen employees with dessert and everybody fiends the fucking ice cream sandwich bars and I hastily think about the fellow bartenders out the back of the building (it’s the girl I’m taking about whose new and one other girl whom is basically her chaperone because they are her aunt) approach the bar with 2 ice cream sandwiches asking if they wanted the last stock of what remained of dessert 😂 they politely decline and I just give them away to my boys and walk back to the main cafeteria area and around 5 minutes pass people start to clear out and I not really a drinker and not of age to drink in the US (although I have been to other countries to bars that you don’t need to be 21 to drink all fine) Sit down at the bar with the 2 bartender ladies, i start yapping about all the musical bullshit I do in life and the video game I’m developing and whatnot and that’s why I came up to nature to record the ambient sounds for my project idk why BUT then when I realize is that the girl whose new’s eyes fixated on me intensely full German stare and I’m kinda intimidated ngl, so ofc as a good bartender would ask, they ask if I want anything to drink and i politely decline because I wasn’t really thirsty 💀 We start to just chat a bit I ask about how their day went and then that’s when I realize the new girl whose bartending it’s her first day and she’s absolutely drunk out the wazoo, I feel kind of bad because she was about to just go take a walk break and I saw she could barely even move straight 💀 so I ask “so what are some good things to do around here?” They reply really excited that before it gets too dark (somehow they say that and it’s already becoming 8:30 and dark at out) I should go to this really pretty creek waterfall and the absolutely double whammy hammered chick volunteers to take me. I accept and I have to walk this girl out the bar because she’s in heels and bouncing all over the place. We make it to a downhill section we have to cross and I see her struggling and ask if she needs a hand and she hastily accepts, next thing up her arms are basically spaghetti and rolling with the wind as we make it down this hill her holding onto me for dear life. We start to walk a bit and I start to ask the big legal concern questions that us “technically inclined” men ask like “How old are you” “Do you have a boyfriend?” And “Are you in school?” I eventually get all these answers and we by some will of god walk up to an abandoned dark horror movie looking ass tipi (basically this ⛺️ thing for u non cultured swines) for some reason my hood senses start tingling and the white girl slasher film mindset goes into my mind like “Why the fuck am I about to go in there?” But hey YOLO why not go into creepy dark crowded place with drunk girl? We waltz up into that bitch looking like injured bank robbers clobbering all over the ground because the ground muddy and we can barely fit into the small opening of it, point is in there she starts basically interviewing me fucking speed run piers style and I answer being sober decently competent. Me not trying to make her feel uncomfortable turn my flashlight on to scout the area and we realize there’s some makeshift bench in there so we have a seat. She doesn’t like the fact the lights on and then she asks “do you want to kiss” and proceeds to inform me I’m a weirdo for turning on the light. Now I’m like: “ aight what the fuck girl like it’s dark spooky af out the hell u want me to do get mauled by spiders in this Native American trap house? Then Yk me never had a girlfriend and curious accepts her kiss offer and right as we are about to friggin kiss a RANDOM ASS NPC COUPLE SPAWNS IN AND JUST WALKS UP TO OUR FUCKING TIPI! What are the fucking odds bro, like it’s pitch black basically out and I’m in the middle of the woods, now they see us (we look hella sus at that moment) and kinda just walk away after being like “ooooh cool!” But anyways I get a pretty Alr first kiss, get insulted for being a horrible kisser and walk it off quoting myself “Bro it’s cuz I’m a Libra right?” Jokingly anyways we kinda talk a bit she enlightens me on some personal facts and me too, I ask if she’s had a boyfriend and she says yeah I would had asked how many but didn’t weirdly enough and she’s asked me then if I had ever had a girlfriend and I respond honestly that nope I haven’t and she doesn’t buy it, she thinks I’m lying. She then proceeds to ask me how tall I am and me being a tall ass mf for my race i respond “6 foot 3” and she’s like DAMNNNNNNN ewwww. I’m dying of laughter and ask what’s wrong. I never get a response 😭 Anyways she then decides to empty her pockets and she came for some reason with basically a mythical rarity load out of pocket loot. 2 Cinnamon booze plastic shots, lip gloss, chapstick and a cart. Now me being the worlds biggest glorified coward who never smoked and almost never drinks was amazed she had all this shit on her. I ask her how much she had to drink tonight and she told me how for every drink she served she also drank (idk why tf weird flex but ok?) we then kinda decide to go out of the tent because all of a sudden she wants to explore the pitch black woods when we both have very little phone battery left for flashlight. I think in my sober mind that’s a horrible idea and I remember in the back of my mind we had to be back in an hour from like 8:30pm and I remind her assuming she will have it into account but fail to realize SHES DRUNK AF AND CANT PROCESS SHIT!!! Anyways we walk around the creek bed and eventually we have a seat and just weirdly enough lay down watch the stars and talk about romantic stuff, she is very kind all of a sudden and we are just laughing wholeheartedly and enjoying ourselves and occasionally she tries to sloppily kiss me and I’m kinda just laying there like : 🙃. But yeah we there doing all that and then she somehow convinced me to do shots of the weird spicy booze she brought and I was very nervous and almost about to fully fold because I had a lot of important things in my life impending in the coming days and I didn’t want to fuck something up being drunk (not knowing myself if I’m a lightweight or heavyweight drinker) We each do one and I’m kinda there lying paralyzed and shivering in my boots not because of the alcohol but because of the nerves I am chilling with a girl on a beauty of a night next to some lovely sounding creek noises and making out. Me being the newbie I am just go along with anything she says or does because I’m not trying to blow what I have going Yk. But yeah time passes we just there on essentially natures lawn hugging and kissing and talking about cute life aspirations and then I have to break the hard news to her, I inform her I won’t be staying around long by any means ( I leave the next day back to da hood for school) and I feel so bad inside! Like this girl even age difference aside whatever was very kind and I didn’t want to ruin what we had going so I try and explain how I would try to visit her and later the next day I am able to check that tickets cost roughly $50 for one ways to the town she lives in and takes 2 hours and a half something if me for love I was able to do im down ig… Now as a recap: She knows I live super duper far away, She and I both understand we don’t want to ruin what we have and we are trying to see how we can keep this going. I hear someone scream her voice and then I’m like Awww shit ur in trouble right? I check my phone and it’s MOTHERFUCKING 11PM!!!! I’m like OH SHIT WE BEEN GONE A WHILE DAMNNN, I pull her up off the ground and try to get her to her aunt who I assumed was looking for her and then we sadly said it last farewell quickly. She kisses me and then she gets yoinked and chewed tf outta by basically her big auntie bartender me feeling horrible and all because I was so immature not checking the time, I walk up to her to take responsibility for the situation and not be a beta male type character she asks me all of a sudden if I’m “ok or hurt” and I say yeah I’m fine and then she walks away and for some reason my good manners and habits kick in as I quietly shout “good night” and she shouts back “yeah good fucking night!” Slams the door with my newfound friend and they both gone. I feel real bad for the situation but hey it already happened, and I then find out from some of my fellow campers that she was threatening essentially to call the state police because people have gotten lost in the woods but in my head I’m like NUH UH I GOT S TIER GOD MEMORY!!! Anyways I do have the girl I was withs number I message her apologizing for not being more responsible and whatnot and then a lot of time happens from there on. I go to bed at 1:30am, wake up the next morning at 6:57am and I’m worried because she hasn’t responded. I paranoid and feeling like a hopeless romantic sit around stressing for hours until BOOM I get off a call checking up with my moms who was out of town get a message from my dear bartender girl! I’m beyond ecstatic and try to see if we can say goodbye because I have to go so soon that same day (today as I’m writing this) we try to compromise and plan but sadly it doesn’t work out for us and we just don’t get a well deserved farewell. I feel truly defeated and depressed about it and people I’m with are speculating how I have barely eaten in all the hours I have been up today. I reply it’s that m stresses but don’t go into detail trying to avoid ancontroversial discussion. This girls name is Sofia and I as I hope a constituted decent person hope I can keep this relationship but there are a few obstacles. 1, she lives 2 hours best case scenario from me. 2, she doesn’t really answer my messages until very late after I send them (for example i message her 12:30 she responds then doesn’t respond until past 5pm same day) and It’s hard to have a relationship with flawed communication I can see. Now for me I have always wanted to find love but never really succeeded in it and I’m truly just grateful for having any experience like this at all and I want to hear feedback from fellow guys and girl as to what I should do to keep this a respectful and responsible relationship you know?

Hi guys, I just wanna say thank you to the fellows who repplied my last post, without your encouragement to journal my observations I wouldn't be able to put a few things together. And now I have paper littering every corner of my room...
As usual, I wanna share a bit of my experience because who knows
It turns out some "stuff" were trying to get through to me but were being blocked by my stupidity and brickness, this was causing a lot of noise in my brain. As soon as I made the decision to write everything down, the pencil (yup, out of pens) took on a life of its own and words erupted out onto the paper, golden nuggets surfaced to the light. I've been unraveling for quite a while, not with the drama and intensity astrologically associated with Pluto, it's very slow and subtle, it quietly creeps in and spreads out through your life without you even noticing. This also taught me in greater depth about the dynamic of the lighting strike in Mystagogus, through random and impulsive acts (bless you ADHD) a rapid, weird, and curious succession events took place that made me PAY ATTENTION to what I needed to, that's how the stuff got through. Conveniently enough, stormy days here in Brazil, which reminds me of last year.... I guess that's the beauty of 3rd house Neptune in Aquarius, solving a mystery by reaching out for the community. Josephine says that the Mysteries can't be cracked through sheer intellect, but for me it certainly feels like playing a game of chess with an invisible force, where you have to track the pieces by the shadows they cast under the dim light of intuition, I might one day see the real pieces, but for now, I work with what I have. A psychic brick gotta be astrologically attuned and listen closely to omens, I can't ignore the fact that things are coming to fruition during a gibbous moon close to giving birth in my eleventh house (community), I'm looking forward to see what the actual harvest will look like under the piercing light of scorpio full moon. And If this is all garbage, I might as well serve as an example of what stupidity looks like...

So it’s a lot, this a long post and I feel there’s no way to shorten it. But I really do need support. It’s just a lot of ugly feelings to carry.
I got into this relationship a few years back with a butcher who worked at a grocery store. At the time I wasn’t in college and was working there myself, just getting by. We started dating and got into a relationship. He’d spent ten years working at the store and makes like $28/hr now, on average working 5-6 days. He lives in a trailer owned by his grandma that houses him, his grandma, and his mom (who was forced to move back home after her partner passed away).
After being a fucking idiot, I got pregnant. The pregnancy was unplanned, but we were both happy. Him more than me, though, because I’d been planning to leave him for a while. The pregnancy was a total sideways accident. The guy (while not evil) was a lazy ass pig at home. His biggest priority is sitting on his ass playing video games and eating junk food all day when he’s not working. If he talks, it’s about work (complaints) and that’s about it. No ambition, no desire for more out of life, nothing. It took me 6 months after the birth of my son to leave him and go my own way. We never went to court and have unofficial split custody, but this is where it gets really fucked up.
I’m all alone. Grandparents are dead, mom left when I was 10, and dad is a sick-minded asshole. Any living family I have is estranged from me and won’t help me because of it. I have zero support, and pay for my life by myself. Idk what my son’s dad’s expenses are every month but he doesn’t pay for childcare and just leaves our son with his retired mom during the daytime. I rely on her too, and she gives me shit for not giving her any money. I tell them I can’t afford it, and they tell me that’s bullshit.
I’ve been focusing really hard on school and am trying to get into nursing school. I rent a bedroom right now from someone and thankfully they let my son come on the weekends. Obviously it’s not healthy to raise a child out of a bedroom, but it’s all I’ve got, and it’s also why he only comes on weekends. I just got my AA in psychology not long ago, am a newly-licensed Phlebotomist, and am looking into EMT certification. I’m basically trying to find a decent-paying job that’s not some dumbass job while I shoot for nursing school. Letting my education go isn’t an option. It’s the only thing my son and I will have as a chance at a better life. His dad isn’t a school person, and one day when his grandma isn’t around to babysit him anymore, I want to be able to be so stable that I can handle all that comes with having a child. Education will do it, but it takes time.
It’s rare I go out. If I’m out, I’m with my son. When he’s not with me school has all my focus. I clean houses during the daytime to pay the bills and have been looking into all kinds of programs. But putting this much time and effort into school means less time with my son. He’s too big for my little bedroom, and my options are extremely limited. I’d be damn near homeless if it wasn’t for where I live right now. Obviously I could find someone to rent to just me, but it isn’t just me.
My son’s dad’s family has given me nonstop shit about how I’m neglecting my parental responsibilities. I have him every weekend and provide everything needed for him (diapers, wipes, food, snacks, toys of my own, etc.) but they claim it’s not enough. I don’t buy diapers/wipes/food for THEM and I don’t pay my son’s mom to babysit so I’m a total shit mom.
But what I don’t get is that with absolutely no safety net, not only is school my saving grace, but isn’t it ME who needs the help? Isn’t it ME who deserves the help? I mean fuck, his dad splits the expenses with his mom and grandma and doesn’t live alone at all and has no savings currently. Working as much as he does making $28/hr you’d think he’d be a baller.
I feel bad spending so little time with my son but it’s not like I’m out getting drunk and doing drugs. I really am chugging along as hard as I can.

Sorry if this is a longer post, but important context below ⬇️
So yeah I'm a program coordinator at our local YMCA and I run an after-school program (effectively am a glorified babysitter hahaha). This past school year I passively mentioned that I play a lot of DnD when one of the kids asked me if I had any plans that weekend, and it totally piqued their interest when I explained to them what the game was like/about. Naturally they asked if they could try and play and I figured sure why not, I'll write a fun and fam friendly one-shot for them.
They all absolutely loved it. It's turned into a proper campaign with about 7 of the 24 kids me and my coworkers look after consistently playing. I've had to limit the sessions to just 1-2 days of the 5 day school week, because I have other kids too that aren't interested in it, and I obviously still need to give them attention and interaction as well (and as you know DnD can be a very engaged and attention demanding). I thought this was a fair compromise. Days that it's nice outside we are always out running around, being active, playing sports -- but if it's a rainy day, or on our weekly Friday Movie Day, we generally play. It's been such a blast sharing something I love so deeply with kids who I care about so much.
So here comes the issue:
Almost every parent of the core group that plays loves that we are doing this (one even plays weekly and we bonded over it haha), but there is one child whose parents certainly do not; they want their kid just constantly active and engaged and playing sports, not playing "silly make believe", which I guess I get to a degree because this is kinda the MO of the YMCA traditionally; healthy active living.

I've explained that most days of the week we do just that, and that this is something we only do on Fridays or rain days when we are stuck inside, but they aren't budging. I think they have a misguided idea of the game and what it is, or maybe they are just fundamentally against it, I'm not sure. I don't think it's to the level of like the era of thought where media and the masses thought DnD was some kind of satanic game, but I feel like there could certainly be a bit of that.

Anyway they want it to stop immediately. I've told them I'm not forcing anyone to play, and that if they really feel that way they are within their rights to tell their child they don't want him playing, but they are trying to take it a step farther and get it banned. ALSO I would feel horrible if this child were forbade from playing while all his friends have a blast doing so. Just doesn't seem right.
I understand that it's a game that can involve more mature themes and gameplay, and probably isn't reeeeeeeeally for super young folk, but I feel the way I'm running it mitigates this for the most part: there's no PVP (so no bullying can happen), I'm dealing with waaaaaay less serious themes and stakes, and I don't even include any circumstances where they fight any other humanoids -- strictly just heroes fighting big bad monsters and saving towns. You know the drill.
So yeah long story short(ish) the parents of the one child have called a meeting with HR to discuss the playing of this game at the YMCA. I have it on Sunday. I'm confident I'm gonna have to effectively state my case and explain why I think this is not only an okay thing to be doing, but actually in fact a good thing. I don't know if I'll be able to fully sway them if their mind is already made up, all I can do is just speak my truth haha.
I do whole-heartedly think this game can be super beneficial for young folk. I'll spare you my long form thoughts, but between the teamwork and communication required and rewarded, the problem solving (both ethically and logically and mathematically), AND the improvisation emphasized, I think it stimulates a young mind very well. Lets them escape their own world for a bit and take agency and feel they have control, something young people so desperately desire.
So in conclusion, I'm kinda just writing this to get it off of my chest and vent, BUT I guess my questions would be:

do you have any advice on how to properly communicate my points on why this game can be beneficial for young minds?

Do you know of any other benefits I'm missing?

have you ever had experiences similar to this?

Or maybe you disagree with me and think I'm out of line here, which is totally fair too. Just looking to start some dialogue.

I know it is a hassle, but if you get to keep Dnd, you might want to start requiring permission slips. That way, you could avoid this in the future.

This will make it less likely for the OP to get a surprise angry parent, but I don't like the precedent of demanding permission slips for a mundane board game.
It sets up an expectation that D&D is different in some way, and gives ammunition to these weirdos who are still trapped in the Satanic Panic - it lets them point to the permission slips and say, "Look, even your own policies admit that this is something to be hidden behind barriers and parental approval."
At a certain point we have to stand up to these people in society and tell them that they're being ridiculous and that we won't concede to their demands under any circumstances. That takes a great deal of backbone by the YMCA administration, though.

Made a post a few days ago about how I run a DnD campaign for some kids in an after-school program I run for the YMCA, and subsequently how the parents of one of the kids was trying to get the game banned and whole operation shut down. I wasn't sure the best way to make an update, but I linked the whole original post above so you can have a read if you'd like ^
So firstly genuine genuine genuine big thanks to everyone who took the time to read and respond with input and suggestions. It means a ton and really helped a lot. So I'm just gonna jump right in with what happened.
Firstly, I took the advice about getting testimonies from parents who were super happy that I was playing this game with their kids -- we weren't allowed to have outside visitors involved in the actual meeting with HR, but I got emails and messages from mostly every parent (besides the one complaining about it lmao) to voice their support and why they think this is not a harmful thing, and in fact actually a good thing. I really think this helped a lot and was a big factor, so thanks everyone who suggested. It's not something I would've thought to do on my own ahahah.
I didn't want to come in toooooo heavy with the articles and very clear scientific proof about the benefits of developing minds playing TTRPGs', because (as it turned out) this was actually more just conversational and "pleasant" than I thought it was gonna be, at least from HRs side. I did mention to them the multiple studies done on this exact scenario, but it turned out I didn't even really need them. There were definitely moments of tension, but this was a more civil conversation than I anticipated from all parties involved. I'm not sure if it was the fact that the parents who complained had to talk to me in person WITH my bosses and HR reps present and it calmed them down a bit? But yeah anyway.
I wish it was a more dramatic story, but basically I just levelled with them person to person.
People who said they were betting on it being a Christian, satanic-panic angle: you were right, mostly anyway. As in, that was definitely a main part of their argument. They are in fact Christian and were concerned, but it was really coming from a place of ignorance about what this game is about, and they specifically didn't understand the fact that the DM (me) can entirely control what the contents of it is. I'm assuming they just googled DnD and probably saw some things they didn't agree with, but once I explained that the way we were playing it included no demon spawn or worshipping, or any killing of other humans, or allowing of murder-hobo activity, they softened up a bit. I told them it's a strictly G/PG rated experience that I'm curating for them. And of course I explained the social and academic benefits of DnD, and how much of a bonding activity this is for the group, and how much their son in particular loves it. This helped big time.
Ironically, it was their other argument about wanting active engagement for their child (ie; sports lol) that was a little harder to combat. From their and HRs perspective, this whole program and the YMCAs MO IS in fact healthy active engagement. I explained that most days of the week we are doing just that. I'm a tennis instructor as well and have played sports all my life (and they know this), so I tried to assure them that I get their child a SOLID amount of engagement (plus free tennis lessons effectively haha). I'll save you the whole back and forth, but this was a majority of our 45 minute meeting.
Im trying to wrap this up with a bow but not sure exactly how, so I'll just finish with the bullet points from the end of the discussion:
• The game is not banned! HOORAY HOORAY!
• I am now only allowed to play it with them once a week (on Friday), but all things considered I'll take this as a win!
• and best of all, the complained parents are letting their kid continue to play!!!! I'm sending them a detailed summary of the contents of my game so they can look it over, but they said with it now "officially" only being once a week, and with a better understanding of what it actually is, they will let him to continue to play. I'm so unbelievably happy.
So boom. Happy ending. Again big thanks to everyone for giving their advice and linking resources; it helped so much and meant a lot. This is a big win for "the community" I feel, at the risk of sounding too corny. You are all the best. I love this game so much 🥹

OOP explains how they made DnD G/PG rated

So the method I've taken is that this is mainly an explorative and mystery solving campaign. There is combat occasionally, but it's heeeeeavy on the RP aspect of these aforementioned things (aka 7 kids screaming over each other lmao)
I briefly mentioned in the previous post that when I do involve combat I don't include any that js player versus any humanoids -- so no "killing" of bandits or raiders or pirates or anything resembling, it's strictly taking out big bad monsters, or a big spidebats/owlbear or whatever when it does happen. This takes a big amount of the potential nastiness out: Timmy cant go home saying "Mom I killed 4 dudes today!", regardless if he understands the deeply political and socio-economic rooted reasons why it may be justified he did that 🙄 hahahah.
So yeah eliminated that entirely, strayed away from words like "kill" or "dead" or certainly "murdered", and have a very very "heroes save the town from mishaps" type adventure. For a quick example our last plot hook/beat (which ended up taking up like 3 Fridays because of how long it can take with young kids hahaha) involved them stumbling into a town and discovering that it holds the map to an ancient treasure that is rumoured to be buried in a magical woods nearby. Maaaaaany puzzles and skill checks later they found it deep in the woods by a magic tree and had to answer (very basic) riddles from the speaking and living tree in order to get access to it. They succeeded and absolutely loved it and there was no combat at all.

R5 stat minimum: You need 25k HP and 1.5k DEF for FL units and 20k HP and 0.8-1k DEF for BL units. Healers and your cleanser should have 100% RES after lead.
Rift unit options: Xiao Lin, Theomars, Fran, Colleen, and 2A Kro can be used in most of your rift teams. FL Mav/Bernard is good for Water rift and Lapis is good for Fire and Dark rifts. Twins are great in all rifts.

You still need appropriate rune quality and turn order! Do not expect to beat a dungeon just by having these units.

General tips and answers to Frequently Asked Questions:

NEVER feed non-farmable monsters! (you can feed dupes for skill ups)
Save your devilmons! In general you do not want to give devilmon to 4* units, Sigmarus and Jeanne are the best early game candidates. Veromos does not need devilmon.
Best summon stone targets: Tyron, Lushen, Shaina, Sabrina, Talia. For PvP Khmun, Skogul, Galleon.
Check the events for free energy, mana, and other beneficial stuff. To find the current event pages use the button below the energy/mana counter in-game.
Lapis can farm Faimon Hell on the free 6* level 15 vampire/revenge runes provided by the challenges. She should be your first 5* and probably 6* as well.
Shield sets can reduce the HP/DEF requirements on other units and multiple shield sets will stack to form one larger total shield. Each set contributes a shield equal to 15% of the base HP of the monster they are equipped on.
White artifacts from B2 are cheap to upgrade and can give you a massive stat boost early.
Hall of Heroes (HoH) should be attempted as high as you can climb. Reps like Rica or Verad can help a lot. Mid/late game players can get 5 extra copies of the HoH monster using almighty scroll pieces after each floor at the small cost of 2000 guild points for each extra monster.
Most nat 5*s are PvP exclusive and should be set aside in storage till you make some progress on PvE. Some exceptions are CC units like Rica for ToA, cleansers like Anavel for starter R5, and Perna for rifts.
Dimensional hole energy should be spent as soon as possible, always try to stay under the energy cap (recharge rate: 1 per 2h). 2A Kro first, then Spectra or Raoq.

2024.05.20 05:36 H3R4_214 DM ignores party members’ trauma for an insensitive plot.

WARNING FOR: cults, real life cults, child sexual abuse, brief transphobia, child loss.
This was around a year or so ago, so I was freshly 19 at the time. I was an experienced player already, having DMed and been in several campaigns throughout high school, but I no longer had time for longer campaigns or the planning that comes with them. To solve this, I joined a local game guild that hosted weekly one-shot nights. I was fairly close with a few of the regulars since I came almost every week during the summer.
The main players in this story are DM—a guy I had played with once before, a generally good storyteller who specialized in Call of Cthulhu and Pulp Cthulhu—and Friend—an older woman who I had played with several times before and was fairly close to. Friend was very close with DM, and actually introduced us in the first place. Now, onto the game in question.
We were playing a modern realistic setting in the city most of us were from. I knew the story would involve a mysterious cult, and prepared myself, since I knew that it would touch on some sensitive subjects for me. For a bit of context, I’m a cult survivor in real life, something that was majorly traumatizing for me. DM and Friend both knew this, though I hadn’t gone into much detail about it. However, I’m usually fine with cults in ttrpgs, and sometimes I even enjoy them, since it’s very cathartic to take something painful and turn it into a beautiful story. That, and I deeply trusted Friend, and Friend trusted DM, so I trusted him too.
Well. It turns out that the cult that we’d be going up against was a real life cult that practiced in said city. Meaning, DM would be roleplaying as a real life group that has done real life crimes. That caught me a bit off guard. Maybe I should’ve expected it, since it was a “realistic setting”, but I had hope nonetheless. Friend and I exchange looks immediately, but hey, we both trust that DM will handle this tactfully.
He doesn’t. The game starts with us approaching a few members of the cult to gather information before the plot starts. The DM takes this moment to describe in detail that there was a child with them, and how that child was bruised and cut on their legs, and how afraid they seemed, going on to describe the rumors of how the cult abuses children. These were real accusations leveled against the real cult. There was even a scene of the adult members talking to the child badly, fully roleplayed out. The scene goes on for far too long, and it hits me so much harder than I expected, especially since it was incredibly realistic. He hadn’t given any trigger warnings, or even mentioned that this would be a part of the game.
I barely remember the following scenes of investigation, since they were mostly just conducting interviews and investigating a disappearance related to said cult. Apparently, I had a thousand yard stare through most of this. Friend kept trying to check on me, but I don’t even remember it happening. Graphic child abuse was not something I had predicted, and I was honestly half-in-half-out of focus for a bit.
Eventually, it was decided that we’d have to infiltrate the cult by posing as prospective members. We arrived to the location, and the party was split into men and women, since only women were allowed to get close enough to what we were hoping to find. My character was meant to be a transgender man, since that’s what I am, and most of the players were also queer in some way so it was normal for us. Unfortunately, this meant that my character would have to present as more feminine for this portion, so that he’d get mistaken for a woman and brought in. I tried to push back on that idea, but we were running low on time and I was really not present anymore.
I’ll be very vague about this section because it’s bad. There was more child abuse happening at the cult compound. There was sexual abuse happening at the compound. My character was singled out as the most “faithful” and targeted as a prospective member. There were implications about what might happen to my character. Thankfully, Friend—who I noticed at this point was also looking very unwell—mentioned that a storm was rolling in IRL, so she wanted to leave early to beat it. I jumped at the chance to also leave.
Friend and I leave the store and sit outside to wait for our rides to get there. It was at that point she confessed to me that she had experienced child loss, and had previously specifically told DM that she didn’t want to play games with graphic harm to children. He hadn’t warned her either, and she was upset about it too. At the time, I felt so dramatic and ridiculous for being upset. Sure, roleplaying child sexual abuse in the context of a real life cult is horrifying, but I also should’ve expected this or should’ve been more vocal. Maybe I shouldn’t have gone at all, since I could’ve guessed that I might be upset by the subject matter. Still, hearing that Friend had also previously communicated boundaries and was ignored made me feel a bit more justified in my anger.
We both eventually got home, and Friend had a long and apparently nasty conversation with DM. His excuse was that he was going through a hard time of his own and just wanted to have that cathartic release. I don’t love that it was at the expense of two people’s triggers that he was aware of previously, but at least I can understand the impulse. I get it, kind of. I’m still conflicted. Was I really just being sensitive?
