If you have anything you’d like people to know about, comment here or message me and I’ll add it in. If you’d like further info about any of the events, look it up! I usually don’t have any extra to add.

  • Common Ground Books: Contemporary Queer Poetry Book Club: Time is a Mother. This month, we’ll be reading “Time is a Mother” by Ocean Vuong. “In this deeply intimate second poetry collection, Ocean Vuong searches for life among the aftershocks of his mother's death, embodying the paradox of sitting within grief while being determined to survive beyond it. Vivid, brave and propulsive, Vuong's poems contend with personal loss, the meaning of family, and the value of joy in a perennially fractured American spirit. The author of the critically acclaimed poetry collection Night Sky with Exit Wounds, winner of the 2016 Whiting Award, the 2017 T. S. Eliot Prize and a 2019 MacArthur fellow, Vuong writes directly to our humanity without losing sight of the current moment. Bold and prescient, and a testament to tenderness in the face of violence, Time is a Mother is a return and a forging-forth all at once.” 6pm

2024.05.12 01:49 cemetaryofpasswords Yay I guess

Yay I guess
The prizes really need to get better. I probably would’ve finished faster if I’d known that you didn’t have to wait for an honorable discharge. I think that you can just enlist at 18 and ask to be discharged four years later 🤷🏻‍♀️

2024.05.10 04:19 NewMonarch The Hotel Lobby 🛎️ is Accepting Reservations for New Members (Bellhops, Karaoke, Chandeliers!)

Hello, beautiful burners! We're The Hotel Lobby 🛎️, gearing up for our 3rd unforgettable year in Black Rock City. We're on the lookout for a few new folks who vibe with our ethos of hospitality, service, and creating joy through illusion. We’ve received amazing feedback over the last two years and are excited to keep spreading smiles (and luggage) across the playa.

Here's what makes us who we are

This year, we're especially excited to expand our hotel decor and creative fingerprint and enhance the interactivity that makes our camp so special. We're still a young camp, so there’s plenty of opportunity for new folks to help shape the space and experience.

Are you Hotel Lobster 🦞 material?

We're looking for burners who are not just attendees but active contributors—those ready to step up and make an impact. If you're looking to join a camp where you can truly make a difference and have a blast doing it, The Hotel Lobby might be your new playa home.
🔗 Join Us: If that sounds like you and you’re looking to secure lodging in Black Rock City during the 2024 season, learn more about us and fill out our camp application at https://hotellobby.camp/.

2024.05.09 02:54 Meow_meow417 Chapel Roan themed party

STL Chappell roan fans tap in. I have a party idea but I need y’all’s support and to see if y’all would even be interested. I’m thinking of throwing a Chappell roan themed party either the day before or day of Chappell’s concert in STL.
The party would consist of drag, craft stations like: bedazzling, fabric markers, trucker hat decorating, bracelets, etc for her concert the next day. So you can make accessories or add finishing touches to your themed outfits. Photo station and maybe karaoke ?
What do you guys think ? I’d love to get your feedback !
Would day before or day of work better ?

2024.05.01 16:26 Baker_O_DOOM Update to Discworld Party

Update to Discworld Party
I came here a week ago for some recommendations on cupcake ideas for a Discworld birthday party. I come with updates and pics!
For the cupcakes, I decided on banana pie flavor. I made custom signs for all the food I made with quotes. I forgot to get a picture of the cupcakes because we brought them out during the “sing happy birthday” part of the party.
For the party itself:
  1. Each room was set up as a different part of the disc. My contribution was the land of the fairies (entryway). There was also the unseen university (kitchen), the Chalk (sitting room) and ankh-morph (living room). I took pictures of my fairy land and the entrance to Ankh Morph
  2. I made a bunch of food:
-Scones of stone (apple cheddar scones died black with silver sugar) -Nanny Ogg’s Maids of Honour (specifically shaped almond tarts) -Nanny Ogg’s Special Party Dip and Special Nibbles made Specially (tzatziki with pita chips) -Sausage Inna-bun (pigs in a blanket with mustard sauce) -Jammy Devils (raspberry thumbprints) -Slumpies (chicken curry hand pies) -Rincewind’s Potato madness (mini twice baked potatoes with potato chip topping) -Smells like Bananas (banana pudding with Nila wafers to dip) -Strawberry Wobblers (strawberry Jell-O shots I failed at de-molding) -Bananananananana Cupcakes (banana cupcakes filled with banana pudding and a vanilla cream frosting, nila wafer and dried banana garnish)
  1. The activities:
-when the birthday girl arrived, I introduced myself as Weatherwax (dressed as a witch) and said something along the lines of:
“Ah yes you must be Tiffany. Nanny Ogg mentioned you’d be coming. You’re just in time for your training but unfortunately I have bad news. That scoundrel the Cunningman has stolen Creature (her stuffed animal). Unfortunately I don’t know where he has taken him. I think the Nac Mac Feegles know though. There are three of them around here that have clues”
-Birthday girl looks for blue men dolls I made and they lead her to outside. She was instructed to bring a pan.
-she chases the cunningman and gets pelted by “fairies” (mini stuffies). After protecting herself from them with her pan the cunningman gives her a puzzle box and demands a tiny hat.
-Now we’re ready for witch training. She learns how to make custom cocktails at the unseen university. The Professor put together a cipher to make it more magical so she had to decipher it. Dry ice and color changing fluids were used.
-Next was witches tea to learn how to socialize. Full tea set up and we sang happy birthday. The cake was 10lbs of stacked cheese with edible flowers to look like a cake. I also served my cupcakes for those who wanted sweet.
-During the tea the puzzle box is opened to reveal a tiny fez. The cunningman (her boyfriend) presents her present: fully paid 2 week trip to Morocco (daaaaaamn)
-Last stage of training: we head to the Chalk for “Chalks got Talent” where she’s also given a Karaoke setup and we drunkenly sing karaoke.
I left after that as I live 1.5 hours away and my husband was plastered lol.
It was a great time and the birthday girl had a blast!

2024.04.29 00:31 OkMeeting3920 Brando’s speakeasy bar karaoke night — 4/9

Edit: just realized I got the dates mixed up! I saw the video of when I was there and it was on the 5th and not 9th! Okay Reddit! I need you to help me find me this guy I saw at a karaoke bar, while I was visiting Chicago earlier this month. I ended up going to Brando’s speakeasy karaoke bar at Dearborn st. on the night of April 5th. I went on to sing “I wanna dance with somebody” and he was cheering me on the whole time, which was super sweet because I wasn’t that good lol. He was quite tall, was wearing a gray hoodie, and had a hat on. He was with a bunch of his friends, I think. I didn’t try talking then because I was a little too tipsy but if possible, I’d just like to find him and connect. I thought he was really cute. Please help me find him!! 😄

2024.04.26 19:38 YogurtCandy [PC] [2010's] 2 flash games, one about a drunk rabbit on a ballad and the other about a party guy on a country side area

I need some help guys, when I was a little girl I remember playing flash games on a fucked up Russian website, there was one of these games, I remember all the details of it, it was a fat pink rabbit who wanted to enter an animal ballad in an alley, if I don't remember either he was already drunk or he was just inconvenient, then he entered this ballad that I think had about 6 minigames to do, there was one where you had to win a girl, one where you had to slide the beer glasses across the table, one where you had to do karaoke and dodge the tomatoes thrown by the audience, one where you had to bet on one of those casino machines, and I think there was a snooker game, the other one I don't remember, I remember there was even an entrance downstairs, and that, like, after you got tired and left the bar, the rabbit would walk out of the alley sad if you didn't complete all the minigames correctly.
The other one is from another site, I don't remember which one, this is the one I'm looking for the most and it torments my mind the most, it's about a guy who wakes up from a crazy party, kind of in a country side area where he finds people sleeping in various places, people walking on a treadmill in their underwear, people with their heads in an aquarium, the house was all spread out, there was stuff everywhere, in fact I think the character was wearing a blue bathrobe, underwear and slippers if I don't remember, I remember when I went outside there was a saddler with a big tittes blonde woman blocking the way and saying she would only let him in if he did a task, it was like a game of tasks, you took something and gave it to someone and then the game continued, I even remember there was a chainsaw in an aquarium next to the girl, and I remember her having a cowboy hat, I remember the characters being drawn like the NPCs from "Douchebag workout" or "Douchebag Life", at the time I had only gotten that far, mainly because I was a child and had a playdough neuron so I couldn't move forward.
If you can help me, I'd appreciate it, I've been trying to find these two games for over 4 years, and sorry if my english is bad, I speak portuguese, I tried to ask to the people from my country but I couldn't, kisses for yall! <3

(Was natürlich völliger Quatsch ist).
