Two word which I think Kaz operates without.
Your latest game has been proven to be lacklustre time and time again, you have 20+ year loyal fanbase whom you consistently ignore and you bring your employees at Polyphony Digital into unsatisfactory standing. I think if I were an employee I would have left a long time ago, many companies seem to make games and adjustments to thise games for their players. You Kaz, seem to only bother with yourself.
Gran Turismo and Polyphony Digital have fallen from grace, this is your only franchise yet you do very little to make it grow.
Since launch their have been cars added but very few tracks. Cars you add are cars no-one has asked for and a good portion of the vehicles you have in the game are entirely uselss.
Your single player campaign is woefully lacking in content aswell as direction, or variety and given the content and variety of events in previous games I find the layout and offerings of GT7 to be absolutaly baffling.
Here we are 2 years post release with little progress to show for it. You care not about the players who dedicate their hard earned money, time, energy and effort but only for how much money you can squeeze and how little you can get away with.
You sir, conduct yourself without honor, without respect. You are ignorant.
If this game where to an FPS that had this level of(lack of) support people would comment on how "dead" this game is.
Indeed upon reaching a certian level we are left to flog a dead horse over and over in order to earn credits and try to enjoy what is offered. There you have decided that a maximum of approx 1 million credits per hour is to be installed leaving many players staring at dealership prices up 20 million credits.
Do you and other development companies assume that all your customers play your game and nothing else? Do you assume that no-one works, goes to school, eats or sleeps? Playing a game and grinding for 20 hours straight to buy one vehicle and empty my account to start again is disgustlingly disrespectul game engineering.
20 hours Kaz, that is half of a full working week for one vehicle Kaz...one.
As of today I have deleted GT7 from my console and shall not be installing unless you manage to pull off a No Man's Sky or Cyberpunk 2.0 and make improvements to your attitude toward the people who, at the end of the day Kaz - pay your bills.
We, we put you where you are by buying your games from the very first up until now.
I recomment many others do the same, there are better thing to do with your time and money than waste them on a selfish man's vanity project.
Gran Turismo is for me now on life support and I feel the next game, if there is one will be an absolute un-mittigated disaster.

Hi there! And welcome to this unique review exchange that's different from all the rest. Profile exchanges used to be a common thing on this sub until technical issues and other things caused to be held somewhere else. I decided to finally bring it back after such a long period of time.
So what is a Profile Exchange? And how does it work? Well, let's go over the rules.

2. List what fandoms you write for and what kind of stories(ships, genre, rating, etc.) you like to write. You don't need to list every single fandom, just the ones that are important. You can also post links to certain stories if you wish, such as your latest WIP or something that doesn't get much attention.
3. Once you've submitted you are required to read at least 4 different stories from 4 different authors, be it a fic, one-shot, or a poem. You can read more if you wish. You are NOT allowed to read more than one story from the same author. Be sure to leave a review counter below your submissions, example Fics Reviewed: 0/4, so that we'll be able to keep track.

Anw, very simple mechanics nalang siguro ay maglista ng mga 3 - 10 battles in CAPS LOCK (pwede ring isa lang kung yun yung trip mo) at ilista yung rason or mga rason sa baba kungbat. It may be about your favorite moments, schemes, of course at somepoint may naging gusto ka dahil may paboritong kang lines don sa battle. Basta kahit anong description o characteristics nung battle na maireremind mo na puwede ring makapag elicit ng nostalgia sa mga long time fans at maishehsare mo naman dun sa mga hindi pa ganon katagal pero naappreciate parin yung movement ng as much sa mas matatagal na nakasubaybay. Basically anything na mas makakapag-pakulay ng diskusyon at makakapagpa-entertain sa mga magbabasa. Bale nilista ko rin pala yung mga reasons na parang mostly off the top lang, para mas authentic at genuine yung dating kung bat sila nagustuhan, at yung 37 na to ay in no particular order. Feel free rin ulitin yung mga ibang battle na nabanggit ko kung may sarili kang version or actually even kahit kaparehas ng way ng pagka-paborito o pag-appreciate sa mga battle na yon.
Tsaka to add, I mean oo gets, hindi to yung mga maituturing na pinaka dikdikan, pinaka clever, yung iba dito hindi pinaka "pang battle" in terms of material, or siguro para sa iba eh hindi pasok sa any other ideal representation ng battle rap... Pero may mga certain developments lang talaga na unforgettable at mga narrative na mas nakakapaghook sayo eh, at yan yung mga sakin. Pero it doesn't mean na hindi ako attentive at appreciative sa mga vital aspects ng battle rap, and in fact naeenjoy ko parin sila ng todo hanggang ngayon, and siguro I can attest to that by saying napanood ko na literal lahat ng videos ng FlipTop so far hahaahahah ewan ko kung nakakaproud ba dapat yon. Anw, minsan may mga moments lang talaga na mas naging remarkable dahil nakapattern sa mga personal na trip mo, at yun yung mga postive version ng lowbrow escapism ko pagdating sa FlipTop, na bukod sa pag-express at pagbahagi, gusto ko rin sanang makinig at madiskubre sa iba't-ibang perspective.

In just eight years Loom went from $0 and maxed out credit cards to a $975M exit.
Founders Vinay Hiremath, Shahed Khan, and Joe Thomas, along with their awesome team (more on this later) built Loom around customer obsession and creating the best product for that customer.
The Loommates are on a mission to superpower productivity by challenging the status quo of text and live video calls.
To get here though Loom took a bit of a windy road - with two name changes and a few repositioning. Loom launched in 2015 as Opentest, but it was only in 2016, when the Loom we know today started to take shape, launching a Chrome extension under the product name Openvid.
Good thing they changed the name.
Then in October 2023, after having raised just over $200M up until this point, Loom was acquired for $975M by Atlassian.
Today Loom has 21M users at over 350k companies - including Tesla, Apple, Goldman Sachs, and Amazon
But this isn’t about where Loom is today.

Loom’s Growth

The first iteration of Loom launched back in 2015.
The original idea was to help teams gather feedback through video. It was a one-line code injection to enable you to record your screen, yourself, and your audio, and was called Opentest.
They believed deeply in the power of video but quickly realized that this was not the right angle to approach the problem.
So in June 2016 they repurposed Opentest’s video feature into a Chrome extension and launched it as Openvid on Product Hunt - testing if there was interest in its new use case.
Within the first 24 hours they had 3,000 new users.
More than the previous six months combined.
Safe to say there was interest.
They now had their first users. Users who loved the product. A simple free Chrome extension that allowed you to record and share videos via a link.
No clunky video editing software or huge files. Just a Chrome extension and a link.
Then after speaking to some of their users, Loom learned that video could solve communication issues at the workplace - particularly for remote teams.
And so in 2017, they rebranded to Loom and positioned themselves as the go-to solution to replace the hassles of written communication.
Loom also had one more major shift in positioning and strategy - but more on that later.
Ending 2019, Loom was doing $720k ARR.
From here, growth sped up.
By the end of 2021, Loom was doing $35M ARR. And by October 2023, $50M ARR.
To get here Loom raised a total of $203M over the last seven years. But it hasn’t been without some hiccups.
In May 2021, Loom raised $130M at a $1.5B valuation. But for various reasons, some out of Loom’s control, such as mass ending to WFH policies and economic downturns, Loom took a bit of a valuation hit post-Covid.
Loom was acquired by Atlassian for $975M in October 2023.
This decreased valuation was likely also in part to Loom fundraising during an overinflated market.
However, being acquired for close to $1B is still an insanely impressive feat. I just wanted to mention this to give you the full story and perhaps a precautionary tale on raising in an inflated market.
There are still many lessons to be learned from Loom’s journey. Experiencing rapid growth and reaching over 20M users.

Key Success Factors (KSFs)

There have been many reasons for Loom’s exponential growth. But here are three that stood out to me, particularly early on in Loom’s journey.

🗣️ 1. Action user feedback:

After launching on Product Hunt, Loom (then Openvid) grew to 10k users in three months. Users were giving them feedback and they loved the product.
They had validated that video was filling the need to improve communication.
Instead of relying on sales and marketing teams to drive growth, they went all in on a Product-Led Growth (PLG) strategy. A strategy that relies on using your product as the main vehicle to acquire, activate, and retain customers.
But to maximize their PLG, Loom focused on getting two key things right:

i. Fast or instant time to value ⌛️

Loom met this first piece of the PLG puzzle by delivering value within minutes.
All you had to do was add the Chrome extension to your browser and you could start recording. No commitments. No credit card details.
Straight to the value. In less than five clicks.
But for PLG, you need more. You need loyal customers to spread the word.
How do you do that…

ii. Building the best product focused on users’ needs 👷

Loom became customer-obsessed.
They completely dialled in on their users’ needs. Asking for user feedback, listening to it, and then building for it.
The team built and shipped features every day. But not just any features. They had to fill three criteria:

1. Fell within Loom’s mission ☄️
2. Users and the team would find relevant. 📚
3. Improved Loom’s product. 📈

This is what led to their rebrand to Loom.
The go-to solution to replace the difficulties of written communication.
Loom had started to reflect their customers’ voices in their product. They had built a product their customers actually wanted and needed.
Loom made sure to show their users how their feedback was being incorporated, they responded to every single email, message, and comment - recording personal Looms. The Founders took turns on support shifts and built relationships with early adopters.
Loom was relentless in understanding its users. Tracking every piece of data they could, importantly: why people used Loom, where they dropped off, and why they dropped off.
From this, the Loom team identified multiple features that we know as key parts of the product today, such as notifications when your video is watched, recording your entire desktop, and leaving the video flipped after you record (they figured out this made users more comfortable with how they looked on camera).
During Covid, Loom increased the features on their Free Tier, halved the price of their Pro Plan, extended the length of their free trial, and gave any educational users of Loom (teachers and students) FREE Loom Pro forever (and still do this today).
Through all of this and more, Loom’s users became ambassadors. They wanted to see Loom grow. They wanted to share what they knew.
Their users wanted to share Loom.

🎯 2. Repositioned to find PMF

When Loom first launched on Product Hunt as Openvid, they had already pivoted from a tool using a line of code to gather feedback via video into a Chrome extension to record yourself and your screen - and share it with just a link.
Loom was used to listening to what the market wanted and adapting.
But critically, they weren’t just building new products all the time. They were making tweaks to find better positioning in the market.
Going from Opentest to Openvid, all the team did was repurpose and reposition their built-out features.
Then, an interaction with a long-standing customer, Scott from Hubspot, would change the brand forever.
The team learned that video was an awesome solution to solving communication issues within teams - particularly for remote teams.
And so Loom was born - a rebranded Openvid. Again, a repositioning to get closer to PMF.
They were now the go-to solution to replace all the hassles of written communication. Even though it was still the same tool as it was previously.
Loom then had one last major transition.
They wanted to now attract the biggest companies in the world to use Loom for internal communication.
Their GTM (Go to Market) strategy here was simple. Launch an existing product in a new market - Enterprise teams.
They accompanied this change in positioning with new features such as the beta Loom for Teams and a centralized video library (think repeatable internal messaging like onboarding).
This launch was perfectly timed.
With all companies forced into remote working and needing better tools to communicate.
Their messaging became more focused:
Sometimes to find PMF, you don’t need to change your product. You just need to find the right audience for it.

🕵️ 3. Intentional about hiring and employee retention:

In around 4 years, Loom reached 100 employees.
But it wasn't linear growth. It was slow. And then all at once.
In 2020, went from around 45 employees to reaching the 100 Loommate mark. Hiring 30 employees alone between February and May.
The team at Loom lives and works in over 11 countries, including Portugal, Brazil, and Australia.
This is intentional. Loom wants to structure its team with the goal of being able to work with the most talented people.
Wherever they are.
And they want to build this world-class global organization without anyone feeling like they’re not part of the Headquarters.
They want Loom to reflect the modern world we’re in.
This includes working with organizations such as Techqueria and Women Who Code to create a more inclusive and comprehensive recruitment process.
The Founders were also very intentional about the roles and types of people they hired. Choosing to hire specific skill sets for their team.
This meant looking for the best video engineers instead of the best general software developers. As well as making very specific senior hires, who had experience with very specific skills, for example, Joshua Goldenberg as the VP of Design, who was the previous Head of Design at Slack and Palantir.

One of Loom’s most successful features has been its “someone has viewed your video” notifications.
Sound familiar?
We’ve all experienced the exact same notifications with LinkedIn: “Sabrina and 8 others viewed your profile.”
And we’ve also all had the exact same reaction of wondering who viewed our profile to only find out we need to pay for LinkedIn Premium…
Loom took this feeling and put it into their product.
They created an anonymized notification to let you know someone had viewed your video.
I can only imagine the excitement (and nerves) if you use Loom for something like sales.
This feature spiked the usage of Loom. Creating a curiosity hit in their users - as well as them seeing it working!
This feature was key in scaling Loom in its early days. And helped create a customer base that was obsessed with using Loom. 🚀
So look around your daily and work life. What are some features or products that you love?
Why do you love them? Do they make you feel excited? Curious? Inspired?
Replicate that feeling with a similar feature. Just like Loom did.
But be careful, you need to make sure this feature fits with your product. You don’t want to force a feature that doesn’t fit or doesn’t help your users.
You also don’t want to start looking like everyone else. So as Author Austin Kleon titled his bestseller, you need to Steal Like an Artist.
Add your own spin to a successful feature. Make it fit your brand.
Cherry-picking features also works both ways.
When you look around your daily life: What are some features or products that you dislike or even hate?
Why do you hate them? Do they make you feel frustrated? Angry? Sad?
Avoid features that bring these emotions out.
Don’t only replicate successful features. Avoid unsuccessful ones.

Loom’s time to value is almost instantaneous.
With the first version of Loom, all you had to do was install the Chrome extension, review the settings, and then you could record.
Less than five clicks.
Users loved this.
Loom was quick to install, learn, and use.
But importantly for the Loom team, this also meant that Loom was quick to share.
Remember, you’re trying to make your product as frictionless as possible.
It’s hard to get someone to add a new tool to their life and their routine.
Don’t make it any harder for them.
Make it as easy as possible for your customers to use your product - like Loom did. They didn’t ask for any commitments. Straight to the value.
First impressions aren’t only important when meeting new people. They are also critical in building trust with your customers.

Season 10 “Days of Fury” - Episode 3 “Of Fire And Fury”

“Boss, you-”
“No. Santos, you’re an animal expert and you’ve done more than enough as it is. Vess, one of you needs to be here and between you and Marik I’d rather take him with me, I’m sure you appreciate it. Nila, you have a long career and basically never fielded. That’s enough skeleton crew, the three of you are staying here. That’s final.”
Keya sighs, the closed walls of the van offering little distraction from wayward thoughts. She turns her attention to the rest of her officers in it, trying to distract herself from memories of earlier in the paw “Been a while since I’ve been in an actual transport van” she drops, hoping for a response.
Her officers tiredly turned their attention to her. Marik, Lunek, Aren and Kessa were all here with her in the transport and none looking too joyful at the situation “Somehow our cruiser is more comfortable” Aren chuckles.
“That’s ‘cause it’s a secondhand retrofit bought in an auction” Keya shakes her head before tilting her ears to the front of the van “We got much longer to go?”
“No, ma’am” comes the chirp of a krakotl “In fact just past the corner”
Though it was impossible to see from within the enclosed van, the slow deceleration and eventual full stop made it clear they were, in fact, at their destination. Stepping out of the van the first thing to strike is the noise, a distant cacophony of shouting and howling. The second thing to strike was the colors, usually in such a large congregation of exterminators one would be seeing a light of bright colors, the silver and white of thermal suits, the reds and yellows of their tools, but what was most abundant here were darker colors, mainly black. “Briefing’s over in that tent, you should be the last team for this paw” their driver mentions, having stepped out herself.
Which brings the third thing called to attention- The tents. An entire operational outpost had been set up here, taking over a little park, and by the number of tents present running logistics and command this was far from a small operation. “They’re still bringing in more people?” a voice from behind draws her attention.
Tilting her ear back while they move Keya keeps track of a conversation “Whatever is going on here is big it seems” Aren had begun conversing with someone else that was out of her sight, but they had places to be and she had to keep walking.
“Herd’s just been getting bigger for the last four paws, tension just getting worse. Crap, I’m surprised it didn’t boil over just yet” the bassy voice in what she believed was mazic language added “Well, good luck you all, I’ll have to get back on the line soon”
It did not take much longer before the Blackriver crew arrived at the tent where the briefing was to be held. A scattering of plastic chairs was spread in front of a projector, another two dozen exterminators were already here and seated, the number of venlil among them was also surprisingly low. Or perhaps it was not quite so surprising given why they were here, most surprising was the presence of humans. “Ah, the last group we were expecting” says someone at the front by the projectors. An older venlil whose age-grey had overtaken whatever his natural color was, as well as a human with a long patch of black fur dangling from under his nose were there. “Take a seat”
“Alright, here’s the rundown of the situation” the venlil officer starts. “Four paws ago a protest started in front of the Regional, Ilfran’s Landing is a big city but it became obvious people came from everywhere here. The protesting started getting heated, so the Guild decided to send personnel to prevent it from causing any harm. I’m sure a few months ago we all believed prey wouldn’t get up to these antics, that the human stampede from the memorial service was unique to predators. I’m sure we have been all disabused of this notion by recent news” he sighs “For the last four paws the protest has been building up, they’ve set up food stalls even”
“You know it’s serious when the grills come out” one of the humans pipes up
“Fact they brought some meat is something we’re overlooking right now” the venlil commander adds, causing a few worried signs from everyone present “Planetary HQ decided to get their paws dirty with this protest, however, and sent directives as well as called up reinforcements to deal with this. Officers on site have been rotating in and out to keep a paw-long presence.”
“Here are your priorities: First, the safety of unrelated parties. Second, safety of the protestors. Third, integrity of unrelated material. Last, integrity of the Regional” after a moment to let the information settle he continues “Look… I think it bears saying… None of us is happy with our Regional Firebase. I bet most of you want to be there with the protestors. Speh, I bet the protestors don’t even know how many exterminators are in there with them.”
He starts pacing “We’ve all seen how often promises of funding ended up with badly maintained gear and suspiciously rich chiefs. We’ve all seen how many people complaining about malpractice just happened to be diagnosed with PD. We’ve all seen how reports of extortion seemed to just vanish into thin air. Or how when the omnivores among us learned the truth they kept silent, even when the HQ was giving out statements of succor for their officers.”
“We all joined the force wanting to protect the herd. No, no- Not all of us. Quite a few joined out of lack of choice, but we’ve all bought into the lie we were supposed to be protectors. I think recent history has shown that was never the true intent of the guild.” the venlil commander stops pacing and turns to the assembly “But we’re here to make that lie a reality. We’re here to protect our herd, from ourselves if that has to be it. And HQ agrees. The Regional has fucked up too much.”
“So they’re leaving it out to dry” he adds with a finishing tone “We are only here to make sure those people don’t hurt each other and other innocents around, because they can.” with a paw wave he directs attention to a map being projected, it shows the local streets with a large red mark on multiple of them, as well as blue lines encircling the mark “This is the current protest zone, yes it’s huge. You are not to attempt to contain them too much, for now they have been happy with being herded around somewhat, the only point of real contest is this street” he points to said street “That is to be kept clear for traffic at all times. Solgalick’s Mercy is one of the largest hospitals around here, I’m sure the herd will be understanding of not blocking access to it.”
Then the human commander picks up the briefing “Alright… My turn. You already got the gist of the situation, so I’m adding my experience here. Used to be military police before I volunteered to get here, closest thing we have on earth to the actual job the exterminators do. Been at my fair share riots, both sides. Broke quite a few windows when I was a teenager.”
“Let me tell you one thing, the big bad predator here is scared alright?” he adds with a serious tone, scanning his eyes through everyone “These people are angry, and they’re not aimlessly angry. They know every crime hanging over the Regional, they have lists of the guilty, they have a plan and have goals. And those are the most effective and dangerous kind. They’re not aimless civilians angry at the police because something happened.”
“Or at least their leadership is. I’m sure whatever changes they are pressuring for will go through, with how the headquarters is dealing with things here. Wouldn’t surprise me if they just decided to throw the Regional’s staff to the wolves” a couple of people flinch at the imagery “Don’t pretend that’s not what y’all are right now… No, no you’re worse than that. Let me tell you something-”
“If this shit was going down back on Earth? We could rely on the group being disorganized. When a large group like this happens, they can’t work together very well without training. It takes years to teach a human to work in large groups like this, but I’m seeing a lot of venlil in here, this is your home after all. And you people? You don’t need that training to work in a group, it’s in your nature. And in the worst case scenario, and those people get riled up? We’re not looking at a mob, we’re looking at an army.”
The human’s gaze turns back to the map “But as I’ve said, they’re a people with a plan. The organization of the protest has no plans for things to turn violent, they want pressure and not damage. But that doesn’t mean those aren’t just people here, who have more than enough reasons to be angry. If just one of them decides that the organizer’s plans aren’t enough justice… Well, the herd follows. And I’ve come to realize that’s true regardless of species.”
He turns back to the assembled “My point is be careful, because if the worst comes to pass, well… It’ll be bloody.”
With an affirmative flick of his right ear the venlil commander steps up “I’m sure you’ve all took in the map as is and have found your sectors” he waits for a few seconds, watching as multiple signs from ear flicks to thumbs ups to tail swipes to nods respond “Good, go to the armory tent to get the riot gear and a quick briefing on it and… Good luck”
As the group filters out of the briefing room, Keya steps last behind the rest of her own officers. “Lunek you alright with being in the shield line?”
“Yeah… Don’t worry boss, I can handle it” his voice is shaking a little bit, but he isn’t flinching “I hope nothing bad happens… I understand what those people are thinking.”
“We all do, if it helps… I think they’re doing the right thing as well. It’s this Regional that let Long Cliff happen, who straight up goaded Striped Hill on. Just remember, we’re just here to make sure nobody gets hurt… Too much.”
It wasn’t long until they'd made their way to the armory tent. It was as organized as it could be, a tarp had been set up as a tent off the back of a transport van, inside of it visible are mostly the black padded armor that every other exterminator had been wearing in this place as well as tall translucent shields. The first one to step up was Marik, curiously scanning through the unusual gear.
“I know a gun nut when I see one” says the human that’s manning the station “All less-lethal gear here” she points back with a thumb at the sparsely fitted weapon racks before starting to pull out and give armor sets “Standard issue riot armor, ceramic plating with shatterweave layer. Will take any reasonable hit, fire-resistant, in case any high caliber weapon has found their way here the shatterweave will take one punch no matter how hard” Keya is the first to step over “Fasten over here, and over here. Those are venlil fit”
As the human pulls out two shields Nila and Lunek step up front, both still fastening up their armor “Riot shields, put your hands through this place here and hold on tight. You’re going to have to hold it at a bit of an angle since they’re human-sized. Can take bullets if need be, should stop anything they can throw at you.” Lunek is the first one to strap the shield to his arm, finding that it is as she had said, just a few centimeters too tall and scraping hard at the floor if he tries to move. “I’m sure you’re well acquainted with the sticks, though”
Then, she pulls out a short gun, single-barreled with a strangely wide barrel and a long magazine at the back of it loaded from the top. Marik picks it up, inspecting the empty gun and then the magazine that she puts down “Shotgun with rubber rounds. Low-power, hits like a punch from god, can still break bones and rip an eye off so aim at the limbs. You’re staying right behind the shield line, right?”
“Yeah” Marik adds simply, loading the magazine full of large rounds in it “Keep holstered until command”
Then, the human pulls out two pieces of gear that make the officers look confused. “UX-1s, new thing your people came up with” sitting on the ground was a rather familiar object, a gauntlet-mounted fluid projector with a long tube attached to a back-mounted tank. Unlike the usual flamethrower design, however, it was not just a single tank but two half-sized ones. One of them was a familiar blue but it had yellow stripes while the other one was a bright green.
“Experimental?” Aren is the one to ask “Also I never heard the ‘U’ classification. Are you sure we should be bringing experimental gear to this sort of situation?”
The woman shrugs “Actually better than the stuff we used on Earth, amusingly.” she taps the side of her head “Took a stickyfoam canister to the noggin once, got a cranial fracture out of it. Anyway” she points to the gear as Keya and Aren put them on, its shape feeling familiar to them “Utility-type Mark One fluid projector. Designed first and foremost as a tool. You’re equipped with the riot loadout, shockwater” he taps the blue canister “And stickyfoam.” the green canister.
“There’s a selector here” she flicks the selector unceremoniously in Keya’s palm “Shockwater is water laced with minerals to increase conductivity, when you fire you have more than just high pressure water but also a mild shock, less than a taser but enough to dissuade anyone.” she flicks the selector again “Stickfoam, it remains liquid for a few seconds before hardening and sticking to any surface, solid as stone. Originally used as an anti-tank weapon but we employ it in riot control, be sure to aim for the feet and whoever it is isn’t going to be moving anytime soon” then she pulls out two handheld canisters “Stickyfoam solvent, in case you need it”
Keya pulls up her holopad, looking at the clock. Bit more than a tenth of a claw had passed, very little time, and they were already strapped in gear and ready to go. “Alright” she swallows a deep breath “Meven Street, we’re going to be by the road to the hospital. Everyone be as relaxed as you can-” but her words are interrupted.
Aren had gently swinged his tail to touch her shoulder “Hey, you’re just another officer right now, boss. Don’t worry, we all know our positions” she only answers by flicking an ear forward once, and keeping silent.
The cacophony of noise grew louder and louder as they got closer to their assigned position. There were shouts, not in unison but in a disparate stream of white noise, there was music being played loudly and annoyingly both in real instruments and out of devices. A thousand and one different ways to make oneself heard were being played out within the mass that had overtaken the street.
Even knowing she was just another officer this time, Keya still couldn’t stop herself from watching her officers go their respective ways.
Nila and Lunek quickly ran off to the line of officers standing right beside the crowd, as soon as they approached a gojid and a takkan wearing the same riot gear quickly came back after being relieved, visible bags under their eyes as they sluggishly started heading back towards the temporary base.
Marik quickly found his way beside a group of humans standing just a few meters behind the shield line by a parked cruiser. The group seems to acknowledge him wordlessly at first, but when one of the humans goes to leave he attempts to pat Marik on the head. Predictably, the loudness of the slap is strong enough to even attract attention from some in the protest, who stare inquisitively as the other humans the group laugh at the one leaving.
“Really put us right in the fuel line…” Aren’s voice calls her attention to her side. Tracking where his ears are turned to, she finds the tallest building in the street- Solgalick’s Mercy Hospital. “You think there’ll be a problem?” he asks.
She looks around to where her post is. A small tent had been set up here as well as a large vehicle she hadn’t seen before with a strange turret on top comprised of a long barrel and two round objects by the sides, a couple of people with white bands bearing the green paw symbol of field medics were sitting on plastic chairs “Either there’ll be none or all of them at once” she says. There were two others here, another couple of venlil wearing the same UX-1s as they were and quite clearly the ones they were meant to relive “What’s with that?” she asks, pointing at the vehicle with her tail.
“Humans call it a riot control vehicle” one of them answers “Got a bunch of things in it in case people get rowdy to take them down without harm.” They wave a paw at it “My opinion, though? Looks like one of those arxur transport vehicles. Kinda creepy.”
Aren’s chuckle makes her twist an ear at him “Nah this is definitely not that. Look up human tanks later, then you’re going to see a real vehicle like that”
“Aren, stop making things awkward” she sighs “Everyone’s tense enough as is”
“Nah, it’s alright” the one she’s relieving answers “I’d rather have this stuff on my side anyway” they say before leaving with a wave.
Keya’s role was very obvious. Armed with the heaviest-duty crowd control gear and stationed beside an armored vehicle they were quite clearly the final resort in case something happened, which meant she’d have time to watch. She felt a little bit guilty, it was probably her seniority that got her placement here and knowing some of her officers were right up there in the shield wall while she was here…
But for now, all she could do was observe and… Wait. She watches as the line of officers of many species ahead stand tall as the cacophonous mass of protestors shifts like water past them. The noise is great, but surprisingly not grating, there are a multitude of voices but they seem to be working together in some way. A few more officers come to relieve men at the wall as others leave. Once or twice officers at the wall need to leave and then quickly return. including one of her own.
Lunek needs a bit more endurance training… crosses her mind.
At one point Marik gets inside the cruiser with the human officers and the vehicle speeds away. It doesn’t take long for it to return, they stop the vehicle at the same place it was and step out, nothing seemingly having happened. But the protest is louder at this point.
Nearly an entire claw had passed at this point, with the noise slowly rising higher and higher, when a small commotion happens by the shield wall. For a couple of seconds she puts her entire focus there trying to figure out what is going on, until a krakotl officer waves a beckon with their tail and she and Aren rush towards the position.
When they get there the shield line had let through a human carrying a venlil in her arms “I can walk you know?”
“No you can’t, you’re limping”
“That was my tail, not my leg”
“Fuck you, man, just let me-”
“Excuse-me, what happened?” Keya interrupts the bickering duo
“I don’t know, someone stepped on his tail and he just crumpled, I need to take him to the hospital!”
“Girl, it’s just a tail torsion-” the venlil wiggles in her arms
“That’s not nothing!” Aren howls “Speh, that’s a part of your spine, you shouldn’t be on your feet” he turns around, scanning the direction of the hospital “Do you need help carrying him”
“No, I got it, thanks… Thought you weren’t going to let us pass.”
Keya shrugs her tail “We’re just keeping the way to the hospital clear” she turns her focus to the venlil in the woman’s arms “Stop trying to play tough, just let her take you”
The two of them escort the grumbling pair until they’ve past the area with the vehicle and let them continue on their way to the hospital “Ick, I’m surprised he’s awake. Tail torsions hurt like death” Aren comments
“Don’t I know it, suffered one during stampede response training. Felt like someone was pulling my brain out through my tail” she shudders at the thought “... Why did it happen, though? Takes a lot of effort to cause it”
Aren looks over at the mass of the protest. There were now a lot more signs raised then before, and the noise was louder “Dunno, they look super packed right now” and she sees Aren’s hackles visibly raising “I don’t like this”
Keya turns around, she can hear sounds coming from the large vehicle beside her, like claws on metal. The first thing she notices ahead is the group on the cruiser having opened the vehicle’s doors and standing ready, then she notices that the shield wall had lost some of their lightly casual posture, holding tighter to their shields.
It was just one person.
One agitated venlil having some form of heated argument with a human. The shouting can’t reach her here, she can’t hear the words, but she can see the energetic swings of the arms and the erratic tail.
The venlil turns around suddenly, a bottle of drink in her paw. The human moves quickly, but not quickly enough- He grabs her by the waist, lifting her up on his shoulders and starting to drag her out of there- But the bottle had already been thrown, it sails the piddly distance between them and the shield line.
The glass shatters against a translucent shield, a light crimson fire of high proof alcohol erupts on the impact. And the shouting begins.
In a matter of moments what was disorganized yet harmonic shouting turns to vicious howling and roaring, the crowd on the other side of the shield wall starts moving faster and some voices on a megaphone can be heard. But the cries for organization go unheard as the tension continues to boil- But for a few moments, nothing else happens. There is one officer in the shield wall who is shaking, Lunek’s ears are pinned to their head in fear, but he holds his shield steady- The dying flames still lick at the other side of the transparent barrier, Lunek attempts a gentle motion of reassurance with his tail towards the crowd, nobody around moves and for a fraction of a moment it seems the worst had passed as silence seems to rule.
And then there was gunfire. The supersonic boom of overheated air familiar to magnetically-accelerated weapons, a crimson streak in the sky of a tracer round originated from the Regional.
Sound returns in a terrible roar of a multitude of voices. The officers at the shield wall change their posture and steady their feet just in time as the crowd seems to crash against the shields like a tide and then retreat. For a few moments Keya holds on to her breath, readying for action but… The wall holds, and for now she needs not act.
“Hell, it’s going to shit!” a voice calls out from behind, a human Keya hadn’t noticed here had come running “Everyone, keep this street clear! The riot is breaking out in earnest and we already have a few wounded, they’re coming in from the other side of the street!” It was the same human commander from the briefing. He stops in place for a few seconds, left hand over his ear “Shit… Hell… FUCK! Fine” he runs ahead of her closer to the shield wall “Keep holding, keep the hospital lane clear!”
Keya can just stare as the shouting from the other side of the line grows to a crescendo and… The shield line starts to move. Each and every man in the shield line is holding steady to their shields, their feet planted firmly on the ground… But the herd is moving forward with similar intensity, except with so many more bodies they have begun to physically drag the officers along.
“Attention protesters!” it was a venlil’s voice on the megaphone this time, familiar, of the same man who held the briefing “Please keep this street clear! Keep the route to the hospital open! That is all we ask!” but the cries fall to deaf ears.
“Hell… Shield line, move back! Suppression cannons!” Keya jolts as the armored vehicle beside her whirs to life, she makes space for it as it moves forward and the shield line starts slowly yielding ground. The turret on top of the vehicle turns towards the mass of protesters and- From it erupts a powerful jet of water, not unlike that from a firefighter’s vehicle, but instead of aimed at flames it is aimed at people. The powerful stream of water strikes them, causing many to stumble backwards for a bit-
But the ones behind them prop them back up, and the combined might of the herd beats off the pressurized water. She can’t see it from behind the shield wall, but the simple thought of being pressured front and back by different forces, the water- “Cannons, switch to shockwater!”
It takes only half a second, what was once a combined, mobilized force against the torrent scatters. The combined block loses cohesion, but they do not retreat- For a moment all they do is cease advancing as they huddle like a wall against the amplified assault. But a moment is all they need, no longer pressured the shield wall relaxes for just a moment, and then those at the front of the riot rush. The shields close in again, but not fast enough before a few dozen break through running forward.
Keya readies herself, flicking the selector to shockwater and lowering her stance, Aren does the same at a distance. But they’re not the first ones to move, instead Marik and the officers with him move first, bringing up their shotguns and firing. The blasts are loud- The first few runners just fall over, the impacts swiping their limbs from under them. A couple of humans had clearly been hit and continued to rush despite the crimson soaking their clothes. A venlil had to be hit five times, he stumbled at the first two hits, seemingly shrugging them off unharmed, the two next caused him to flinch and the fifth hitting a glancing strike on his head sending him tumbling down. “STAND DOWN!” the officer who fired the last shot yells, she can see Marik hollering at him but the din of battle had become too powerful.
“Shields, retreat! LRAD, active!” the human commander shouts. The shield line starts to move back, Marik and the rest of the shotgunners walk back as well- Then, a strange piercing noise erupts from the vehicle. She keeps her primary focus on the advancing riot but she can see enough to notice a pair of speakers mounted on the turret, speakers directional not unlike her own ears, and the annoying noise finally processes to her as a mere echo of whatever the real sound would be like. A couple of seconds after that realization she sees the majority of the riot just stop on their tracks, pulling ears closed and clutching their head. If the simple noise bleed beside the vehicle was giving her a mild headache, she couldn’t imagine what being in the direct cone of sound would be doing.
But another sound, much lower, attracts her attention. A sound from behind her that causes her to twist an ear back to catch it. Whistles. The periodic whistles had a very particular cadence, a cadence of whistles that everyone learns the importance of very early in their lives- After all, the sound of an ambulance is familiar to all. She chances a glance behind her to see that there isn’t just one, but multiple. Some arriving, some leaving, they’re going as fast as their engines can, unloading people inside the hospital.
But it is a terrifying bugle that turns her eyes back to the crowd that seemed disabled. The sound cannon had done its job, but there were still some people running. But in that instant something became clear: They weren’t trying to get anywhere, nor were they trying to get away from something no. It was clear where they were heading, she was their target, as was everyone else here clad in black. And there were still dozens driven by raw emotions that had overcome every weapon employed against them.
Aren had taken position beside her, the men that once held the shield line had now become separated from each other, using shield and baton to fend off rioters whose new objective was to bring punishment with their own paws. Keya flicks the selector, she’d already seen those people power through shockwater, and aims her gauntlet low.
Six, there were six rushing towards her and she couldn’t spare mental power to process even their species. She clenches her paw, grasping the trigger and firing a short stream of green fluid, the six raise up their arms expecting something else and leaving their lower limbs unprotected as the sticky substance covers feather, fur, scale and cloth. They have time to take one more step before the mess solidifies, their upper bodies lurching forward while their lower bodies refuse to move, they struggle to move to no avail resorting to their voices as their final weapon.
She spares a glance at Aren who’d been turned on by another half dozen, then focuses forward once again, Marik and his team had already retreated behind her and the shields were starting a slow retreat. Most of them had made it past behind her and Aren, their stickyfoam doing the final job of keeping people contained where the riot vehicle failed, but Lunek and a few others had remained ahead to cover against all manners of thrown objects.
The rage-fuelled burst, however, could only drive the rioters for so long and their will started to falter. The larger groups had begun to disperse, the whistles of the ambulances were starting to sound louder than the shouts, the noise of the LRAD had died out and the pressure gauge was indicating her stickyfoam tank was down to the last third. Keya felt, for a moment, that the crowd’s fury had been spent and she could relax.
And then she saw him. A man with a silver coat of fur, eyes filled with feral rage, body marred by scars new and old, twitching claws and angrily pawing at the ground. When their attentions crossed he ran at her, she aims her gauntlet low at him but he leaps, she tries to track his movement but he was too fast and lands with both hindpaws against her chest- She simply presses the trigger and swings her gauntlet up as the impact brings both of them to the ground.
Falling on her back against the backtank leaves her breathless for a moment. But Keya quickly recovers to stand back up, first assessing that nobody else was running at her- But even before she can do that the horrible gurgling sounds from the ground call her attention. The man had fallen, body partly immobilized with one of his arms stuck to his side, but he desperately claws at his face- Green viscosity covering his snout and leaking also out of his mouth.
“BRAHK!” Keya quickly kneels down beside him “MEDIC!” she shouts, pulling out the canister of solvent from her belt with a shaking paw “Stop- Stop it!” she says, trying to control the man’s frenzied free paw as she sprays the solvent on his face and mouth, before venturing her own paw between his teeth to attempt to pull the softened mass blocking the airway.
“Move, move, move!” a commanding voice comes from beside her, people with the green paw band had arrived “We got a blocked airway here, get the-” they quickly shoo her away and she’s more than happy to let the experts do their job. She stands back up and looks around, the sounds have died off save for the whistles of the ambulances.
There were people scattered on the ground, sitting on the curb, resting against walls, all of them nursing wounds. Glass littered the streets from every storefront and house in sight, no object present in the street was spared the pent up rage, and illuminating everything was the orange glow of flames. Flames, thankfully, contained to just one place.
Even from here she could see it, the front of the Regional had, in a twist of irony, taken ablaze. The flames threatened to spread further into the nearby buildings but as the rage of the riot died down people had arrived to stop it, a group was helping escort the water cannons towards the flames, one of them had already arrived and was dowsing the nearby buildings with water, wounded people refused being taken to the nearby hospital as they set up a bucket brigade to draw more water from nearby buildings to help soak the flames. Echoing in the distance were the sirens of the fire engines coming to the rescue.
Keya just stands there watching the shifting chaos, taking in deep breaths… “Hell…” is all she can say.

• abracadabra1998 (Comp: $2.61M THU. All these comps had been on sale for longer, so those will go up, with the exception of Civil War, which went on sale at T-18 so that'll go down. Feels like a walk-up movie so it's hard to find good comps (May 19). Numbers are from last THU, as per my post this morning. This is a more walk-up movie a la Aquaman or Apes so I think it's a pretty good start (May 18). Pretty good start for it honestly (May 16).)
  
• el sid (Counted yesterday for Thursday had 395 sold tickets with shows in 6 theaters (the small AMC Lakeline in Texas is still missing). 10 days left. Bad Boys for Life (6.36M from previews) had on Monday of the release week 915 sold tickets = 43% at the moment for Bad Boys 4 with 7 days left to come closer or maybe overtake. My guess is that BB4 could have 800-1000k tickets by next Monday, so it could be pretty much on par with BBfL. Similar to other reports here: BB4 does not have stellar presales and after several disappointments I shouldn't exaggerate but compared to the best comps it looks quite good for BB4 as you can see (May 28).)

Switch to G x K since that had super strong walkups ($6.12M THU comp) and Bad Boys 4 will likely replicate this (May 27). Comps ($4.11M) would mean $40M+ Opening Weekend (May 24). Well, this is a pretty good start (May 17).)
  
• TwoMisfits (Aging male-skewing franchises tend to get the biggest bump from this deal. Folks are on the fence but know what they are getting. Female skewing non-sequel ones tend to get zero help. You need baseline interest to get people willing to pay anything, b/c these still are $5. The other effect of the deal is that movies releasing around the $5 hits sometimes get hurt. June TMobile $5 Atom movie. This could help it go huge, like last year's Spider-Verse (May 22).)
  
• vafrow (Comp: $3.6M THU. A bounceback day that helped undo some of the damage from earlier this week (May 29). It's not having a great week. It's slowly slipping against comps, when the hope was that it would be gaining. New showtimes went up for the Thursday, and it's only gotten one additional screen. It's the 4DX screen, which makes sense, as what else justifies a 4DX screen at this stage (May 29). It's staying pretty flat (May 28). Zero sales day when all comps seemed to have done well. Not a great result. Note: This isn't a holiday weekend in Canada, so that doesn't explain the slow sales. Hopefully it's just an anomaly. This has been very steady to date (May 27). Ghostbusters and Apes both went up in comps, but I didn't have Hunger Games included, so it's brought the average down. Still, its growing at a steady pace (May 26). I still expect this to be more walk up friendly than the comps being used, and should see a gradual rise as the date gets closer (May 25). Nothing of note here. Staying steady. Will probably pick up only in the final week (May 20). Comps are not the greatest. One, surprisingly hard to find a comparable film with similar start on sales. Plus, I think ticket buying patterns have changed pretty drastically in my market over the last few months. Very little up front sales compared to late 2023. Dune was the exception (May 17).)
  
• YM! (Like IO2 the pace for Bad Boys is small but mighty. EA is only available at Majestic much like Garfield. With EA, it’s a few tickets shy of Furiosa’s T-6 but without them it’s only a bit over half. Either way both is really good. I think we’ll continue to see the gap grow over the week but as of rn, I am thinking around $6-7m previews without EA solely on vibes to an OW north of $55m (May 25). Same thing as IO2 for Bad Boys (see May 23 IO2 comment), I expect this to not only skew more GA friendly and should bulk up ticket sales as we get closer to release. It’s almost at half of Furiosa’s T-6 which is a pretty great thing. Should easily outdo it by T-6 imho (May 23). Again, another solid start-ish. I expect Bad Boys to have the most diverse audience. Can't really predict much on previews but I am feeling confident in the 55-60m OW range for the past few weeks (May 17).)
  

The Watchers Average Thursday Comp: $0.89M

• el sid (Had a pretty muted start in my theaters. Yesterday 37 tickets were sold for Thursday, May 6, and today it were 44 (with showtimes in 5 theaters). Comps (always counted for Thursday):Tarot (715k from previews) had with 6 days left 28 sold tickets. The First Omen (725k) had with 8 days left also 28 sold tickets. Abigail (1M) had with 6 days left 97 sold tickets. And The Strangers: Chapter One (1.2M) had on Monday of the release week 215 sold tickets. I don't think that The Watchers can reach the presales number of The Strangers, maybe half of that (= ca. 100 sold tickets next Monday). So at the moment I go with around 500k from previews for The Watchers (May 30).)

The presales are good enough to not be a disaster like Garfield, but not big enough to guarantee a 100m opening. I still like what I’m seeing though. As my local theater has finally shown some signs of life with this film. 5 tickets sold. Way better than Garfield at the same point. The numbers might not be completely accurate, but it’s looking extremely strong for Friday. 900 tickets for the five theaters I track. Maybe even 1,286 tickets if my numbers are accurate. That tells me this is not front loaded whatsoever. Or at the very least not preview heavy (May 27). Out of the 4 tracked theaters, there is at least 774 tickets sold out of 1000+ seats. Blown Garfield out of the water (~200 tickets from the theaters I tracked). At least 3 sold out (or close to sold out) showings for Inside Out 2. Looking good for Inside Out 2. Of course this might just be fan surge and all. I was looking at the THU previews in a theater near me. There is an almost completely sold out showing. Out of 195 seats, 175 were sold. Where I live there seems to be real interest. I counted about more than 400 tickets sold on THU for theaters near me, kind of shocked me (May 19).)

• Porthos (BAD COMPS: $8.65M THU. I literally have zero good comps for IO2 right now. I generally don't keep track of sub-5m pure kids animated films until right before release (if even then), so the exact genre matches are out. IO2 is too backloaded (or rather NOT frontloaded) for the AtSVs of the world to make much sense. IO2 had a (too) long (by half) pre-sale window which is wrecking a whole bunch of other slightly more plausible comps. If I had a complete track of KFP4, that'd probably help a great deal. So I have a ton of.... less than ideal comps where none of them are probably point in the right direction. Maaaaaaaybe Wonka might be the best of the bad batch there. But, as often the case with films that should be very backloaded, won't really know how backloaded they are until the week of release. (will note that IO2 does seem to be picking up a hint of steam right now. Which should bode well for its overall ticket total). Horror is, along side pure kids animation, THE most backloaded genre there is when it comes to pre-sales. The ATP for the Nope comp will be wrecked (and then some), but the pace should be very instructive. It also helps that the name recognition for Jordan Peele led to slightly stronger than usual pre-sales for a non-franchise horror installment which should map fairly well with the in-built name recognition of IO2. Is complicated by the fact that Nope had an even longer pre-sale window than IO2, but that might help counterbalance some of the ATP errors involved. Won't be a good comp at the end. But right now, might be one of the better ones, especially to show the insane growth that should be on the table for IO2. I don't think it's much of a coincidence that it's one of the few comps I have right now that is pointing to double digit previews (May 30). I don't agree with the undertone of concern when it comes to ticket sales for IO2. They seem perfectly fine to me, maybe even somewhat strong. It just isn't selling like a frontloaded CBM/fan driven franchise (even when adjusting for animation). So I suppose it really comes down to how much we think this will still act like a traditional kids animation film when it comes to buying pattern, how much demand has been burnt off, and how many people are still going to buy tickets but see no particular need to buy them early. Which I suppose really can't be answered until we get close to the time when kids animation films typically accelerate. But, I keep looking at the sales in Sacramento and not seeing much cause for concern. Yet, at any rate (May 25). Decided to add Nope ($12.62M) to the comp block. Not because I think it's a particularly good one (the ATP differences alone are a major red flag), but more for pace considerations considering how similar horror and kids animation are when it comes to being backloaded. The other consideration with Nope is that it was on sale for nearly two weeks longer, so it did have a small amount of extra time to pad some seats sold. But maybe the errors (ATP vs length of pre-sale) will cancel each other out. PROBABLY NOT! But the pace at the very least should be interesting (May 25). 10.0% Matinee sales, 5.3% 3D sales and 42.2% PLF sales. (May 19). Strange pre-sale pattern. Was there some sort of promo that dropped today? Either way, just a great day (for this type of movie at this point in pre-sales) (May 17). Fairly strong day. Was concentrated at a couple of theaters (May 16). On the SAT of release weekend (NOT EA) there is a special event screening for IO2: INSIDE OUT 2: FUNKO FAMILY EVENT! (2024) Sat June 15th. Might boost OW slightly depending on how wide this event is and how much more these tickets will presumably cost (May 11).)
  
• Skim Beeble (I don't know if it's just me, but starting June 20th PLF showings for Inside Out 2 are stopping after around 4 PM. Is there possibly a surprise release coming or is it just a scheduling showtime thing from the chains. (This is AMC) (May 29).)

• vafrow (Comp: $12.5M THU. Take the comps with a grain of salt. The low numbers on IF and Garfield really throw things off. Numbers were flat all week before a jump in the last day (May 29). It's starting to grow (May 25). I'm surprised this hasn't been stronger. At this stage, I don't expect we'll see much activity until final week (May 19). No new sales. Whatever glitches in the system on day 1 didn't push sales to day 2. I still think the lack of base ticket options will push families to wait. Cineplex has jacked up the cost of PLFs, plus they're throwing in an increase for opening weekend of major releases. It adds up quickly for families (May 16).)
  
• YM! (Using Keysersoze123's earlier MTC1 data, the pace is pretty good. $6.74M average THU comp. The same caveats apply (higher ATP than the other animations due to older skew and PLFs but having lower ATP than TLM as that skews older and likely has more of audience to buy upfront, and Wish being on Discount Tuesday muddies things up) but the important thing is that pace healthy and gainer ground against its comparisons. Feel like tracking is right on the money of 75-85m OW but could grow stronger if pace continues strong and reviews are strong (May 26). The pace is moving nicely as we have about two and a half weeks left. Think there’s potential for ticket count pace to grow strongly. I have no comparisons but it is at Garfield’s EA-less T-3 ticket sales. Going to probably not say much on preview predictions but my thoughts of an OW in between 75m-100m still stand. Not much to make of things until we get to around 2 weeks for rudimentary guessing and opening week for figuring things out (May 25). Little has changed as IO2 keeps on trucking along. I do theorize at least from the 250 ticket selling Funko Event, it’s plausible families and fans went for that date instead of Thursday night previews. At the very least, I like that it doubled its previous sales a week ago as it shows pace and outdid Garfield’s T-6 (May 23). Did some snooping around for the Funko Event as I was curious if perhaps families getting presales for the opening Saturday vs opening Thursday as those sales are kind of weak Thursday and uhm it’s at 250 tickets. Which is like 5 times Garfield’s EA showing of 50 tickets all at PLF prices despite normal theaters. Most of which at 9:30 AM with only one theater having it at 11:00 AM (May 22). Based on keysoze123's Elemental, Wish, Little Mermaid, and Kung Fu Panda 4 preview data, $5.66M THU comp and $22.2M FRI comp. Not a fan of the average comp (Disney has underperformed at MTC2 so not within history to rely on it overperforming like KFP4 and IF) but really like the True FRI although it is very inconsistent. Not sure if IO2 would jump that high from the THU average. However, there’s a lot of variable since: 1. TLM should skew more towards young adults than families by nature which should make ATP higher. 2. IO2 should and does have a higher ATP than either Wish, KFP4 or Elemental due to total PLF control and presumably skews a bit older. 3. Wish was on Discount TUES so that should muddy up the comparisons. 4. The comparisons apart from Elemental are either days before or days behind. 5. Both Wish and KFP4 opened outside the summer season so internal multiplier will be different (especially with Wish’s five day) due to how summer and fall have entirely different natures in walkups which leaves just TLM/Elemental as viable comparisons. It does show that IO2 should at least open above 65m? (May 20). Seems IO2 is playing more like a kid's animation than a family event. Pretty solid for what it is. Majestic is healthy and about 66% of Garfield T-6. Thinking anywhere from 75m-100m OW rn (May 17).)

• AMC ("Some 200,000 movie fans have bought their AMC tickets already. This is more Day 1 ticket sales at AMC than for any other R-rated movie ever." Insiders tell The Hollywood Reporter that first-day sales are likely around $8 million to $9 million if extrapolating the 200,000 stat cited by Aron (May 22).)
  
• DEADLINE (Already heating up eight weeks before its debut, having already collected some $8M in first day ticket sales. $8M is pretty remarkable for an R-rated movie two months before release. While there are no direct comps on Deadpool & Wolverine ticket sales in post-Covid history, its current cash bests the 24-hour advance ticket sales of The Batman ($6.5M), Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 ($6M) and John Wick: Chapter 4 ($1.4M). The Batman and GOTG3 opened to respective 3-day weekends of $134M and $118.4M (May 22).)

The Friday numbers are good, stronger than Inside Out 2 by a considerable margin. However Inside Out 2 is looking very backloaded. This is looking extremely presales heavy right now. Much more than IO2’s 1,200 tickets for Friday. But here lies the problem. There is only 122 tickets separating Thursday and Friday for Deadpool and Wolverine, and for IO2, there is 500 tickets between the two days for that movie. This far out I’m not freaking out. I think the gap will increase. It just alarmed me a little. I still think it’s going to be massive though. Just a word of caution (May 28). Off to a hot start! At my theater in my town, there has been 8 tickets sold. That sounds low but it’s actually a lot, especially this far out and because Inside Out 2 hasn’t sold any tickets at my theater yet. Looking more broadly at 4 theaters I track other than my own, there is a mind- boggling 1,029 tickets sold! Already more than Inside Out 2 (May 20).)
  
• Charlie Jatinder (Comp: $28.9M THU. Moving along well (May 27). Nearly 300 sales day vs ~260 by Black Panther & ~200 of GOTG3. Another brilliant day. Given the length of sales window, comps be falling off but they have remained steady for first 4 days (May 24). Looking at keysersoze123's MTC1 data: These are incredible (May 22). $40.22M THU (MCU first day sales). Amazing day two at MiniTC2. Well ahead of BP2, GOTG3 and AM3. Not too far off from Thor 4. This is more impressive considering they all were ~25-35 days out while this is 65 days out. MTC2 has lower ATP generally due to smaller screens, less PLF, and more family friendly chain. Does much better PTA than MTC1 (May 21). MCU MTC 1 24 Hours: Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness ~ 210K (T-29), Thor 4 ~ 137K (T-24), DP&W ~ 120K+ (T-66), BP 2 ~ 110K (T-38), AM3 ~ 88K (T-30), and GoTG3 ~ 76K (T-30). At T-30 guess DP&W would have been around 160-170K type. Will mostly be above BP2 and below Thor 4. 3.6k so far. BP2 final was 4.6k. It’s done (crossed GOTG3 day one sales). Almost crossed GoTG3 day one sales at MiniTC2 (May 20).)

• jeffthehat (Took my first look in Indiana yesterday. Won't do a full post because I missed like 20 shows. But the gist is it was at ~3600 tickets sold and ~400 shows. Just as a point of reference, here are the highest values for tickets sold I have in my database. Bob Marley Wed T-1 = 3309 tickets sold. Dune 2 Thu T-1 = 3041 tickets sold. Godzilla x Kong Thu T-1 = 2328 tickets sold. Thus, sales are already the highest I've tracked with two months to go (May 29).)
  
• keysersoze123 (Previews was taken late yesterday and Friday data was just now. Still going quite strong. very impressive after huge OD (May 28). Still really strong 3 days later (May 25). 1st few days of PS is all about fanboys so T-x does not matter. By this FRI it will be in steady state mode. With this long a cycle that would be at very low levels. Looking at FRI sales, its IM will be closer to Thor 4 than BP2. So we can do the projections based on how the previews will go. However Its really early. Let us wait until we have T-x comps. Probably will have to wait until July to get credible comps. MTC2 early sales tend to be way weaker for all movies. The disparity for big movies is even higher. Nothing out of ordinary in day 2 pace for MTC1 (May 22). Obvious skew on previews (compared to FRI) as its 9+ weeks from release. Excellent growth even past 2:15 PM. Finished ahead of BP2 and ~20K below Thor 4 (116k for DxW and FINAL The Marvels previews at 133k). It has the longer cycle. This includes fan shows which sold 18K+ in initial check around noon PST. Fan event is just MTC1. I dont see anything for any other MTC so far or smaller chains. I think at this point we need to comp with 2022 MCU movies if OD presales are on par. Until we are within T-x cycle for this movie, we cannot comp after 1st 2-3 days. Fan shows are yuge. Adding FanShows and Previews should put it between BP2 and Thor 4 for now. Terrific OD. Over time, GotG3 should provide great comps. I can say for sure, its no where in the ballpark of DS2 which did 36m previews. Really good start. Should finish the day ahead of Ant 3 I think. Sales will taper off after fanboy rush. This does not include fan shows. No full data yet but show counts for previews (MTC1 - 7427 and MTC2 - 2914). MTC1 shows they are ready for big numbers. MTC2 is more conservative and numbers will go up close to release. If I have to guess based on really early indications, its OD between Guardians 3 and Ant 3 at MTC1. MTC2 I unfortunately cannot get data (May 20). Thor 4 is the most logical comp but that had meh WOM so IM was terrible. Previews were excellent though. Since its previews was 3 days after July 4, its final surge was stronger than even DS2. I dont think there is any difference between early and late July. All schools/colleges will still be off (May 19). Only number that matters is OD presales. after few days it will hit a trough and then it will plod along until social media reactions and reviews hit close to release. I think we can kind of predict its OW after its OD presales (May 18). RESPONSE TO PORTHOS: Captain Marvel had very strong sales on its OD despite early start. So OD is all about fans. It does not matter if you start 2 weeks before or 9 weeks. They will still book. • Legion Again (Previews this early in summer are almost a THU opening, so Fri soemthing like +35-55% from Th is IM ~4.9-5.5. If we get some strong Fri sales when we’re close maybe I’ll drag it up to 5.6 or something but it will be really really tough to beat that. Expecting an IM close to Thor 4. Better reception (in avg case, just by regression to the mean) but bigger previews/more fanrush element, ~cancelling. T-65 Projection Matrix ($166M-$186M OW) (May 22).)
  
• Porthos (Comp: $20.87M THU. $6.90M earned so far in Sacramento (May 30). For long releases of MCU/SW Saga caliber, it usually takes about 6 to 8 days for the initial wave to stop. The Rise of Skywalker didn't really "bottom out" until D9 or so (T-51). Then at T-21, more or less, it started up its acceleration again. Can see similar patterns for MCU long runners (May 24). MCU/SW films tend to have a bit longer of a slope-down on the decent of the "u-curve" so I think I'll keep posting "Day x" comps for at least a couple more days (May 23). Pretty standard Day 2, really. Best sign, I think, is it nearly matching BP2 (that also had a long pre-sale window starting at T-38) (May 22). $22.09M THU Day 1 Comps (8.4% 3D and 58.5% PLF) (May 21). Pretty good, all things considered. BP2 and onward tell a pretty consistent picture. Do think the extra month of pre-sales is gonna mess with these comps at least a little (May 21). Since setup took 60-75 min longer, take the following with a slight grain of salt: 1:45 PM with 2,105 tickets sold. (NWH 2am: 6515), (NWH 2pm: 10685), (Batman 12:45 pm: 1693), (MoM 1:00 pm: 5030), (L&T 12:15pm: 2519), (BP2 2:15pm: 2197) and (GOTG3 12:40pm: 1317). Two theaters have not yet checked in. Seems to be broadly in line with other markets that have reported in (May 20). No comparison for a movie starting presales this early (60+ days before release). Only MCU entry which comes close is Captain Marvel (T-58) and only other Disney release is TROS (T-59). Longest pre-sale window for a major Disney release since The Last Jedi (~70 days). Longest major release since Fast X's 99 days. Probably the most on-point recent comparison will be Jurassic World 3's 43 days. Length of the pre-sale window will very likely depress D1/D2/D3 sales somewhat. It's a matter of smaller degrees when comparing something like a BP2 (starting at T-38), but that extra month is probably gonna slice some numbers off the top of the pile, especially after the first day (May 17).)
  
• TalismanRing (NYC Regal Local. 17 shows (3 3D, 3 RPX, 11 Reg 2): 102 tickets sold for first hour - almost half for the 7pm RPX showing. COMPS MON opening week: Marvels: 91 (11pm), Eternals: 266 (7pm), Black Widow: 239 (5pm), and Venom 2: 131 (6pm) (May 20).)
  
• TheFlatLannister ($150M locked imo. Don’t really see under $30M for previews and a 6x multi gets it to $180M OW. With GOTG 3 early reception I think $200M becomes a real discussion (May 22). $44.36M Dune 2 Day 2 comp. Pretty ridiculously strong day 2. Sold more tickets on T-65 than Dune 2 did in its final day of presales. $22.42M THU GOTG3 Comp. Considering this thing is 60+ days out, I'd say day 2 was amazing (May 21). Sold around 1k tickets in the last 8 hours. Keep in mind this is not T-X so once I switch to T-X 30+ days from now, comp will probably be well over $30M for GOTG. Thinking ~8k seats sold by T-30 for ~$37M comp with GOTG vol 3. DON'T TAKE THESE THU COMPS (Dune+APES+GxK) SERIOUSLY: $46.33M. Rollout is pretty insane. Has almost 200 more showings than Inside Out 2. Sold more tickets than Dune 2 did as of T-1 (Dune 2 finished with 13.6k on T-0). Also surpassed Godzilla tickets sold as of T-0. Half way finished collecting data on Deadpool for Florida and it's nearly tripled Dune 2 first 24 hours of sales and data is still flowing in. Passed GOTG3, ATSV, Dune 2 (First 24 hours) in about 3 hours. I think we can put the under $100M OW discussion to bed. To the shock of no one, this is blowing up. First 24 hours update should have average comps near $35M (May 20).)
  
• Tinalera (Toronto having an especially good run on pre sales- overall sales looking healthy (May 27). For a movie this far out, yea presales are doing well in Vancouver and Calgary. Its hard as very few movies open this early, but its healthy when we are getting between 5-10 percent sales for a movie not due out for 2 months (May 24).)
  
• TwoMisfits (Local Cinemark presale sets for DP3... 3 screens and 15 showings each - the PLF is giving 1 of 2 PLF screens and the non-PLF is doing some 3d showings. Not the set that a normal "big" Marvel movie gets, but it seems my 2 locals have taken a "put up or shut up" strategy for almost all blockbusters lately. This IS equal or more than most everything lately (although Bad Boys 4 is getting 3 screens and 14 showings at my PLF, so...). But, compared to 2019 Marvel, or even 2021 or EVEN 2023 Marvel...this is a low set (May 19).)
  
• vafrow (Comp: $45.2M THU. 12% over two days is pretty strong once the rush passes. We're not at the bottom of the curve yet it seems (May 24). 8% growth at this stage is very positive. I expect another drop tomorrow, but I'm probably not going to touch this until the weekend at this stage. I'm comping high, and without a proper MCU comparison (Marvels doesn't count), it's hard to gauge, but I feel this is just doing really well here (May 22). 20% growth on day 2 when it had a really strong first day is impressive. Ahead of T-1 for Dune Previews to officially be the highest selling film I've tracked since I switched to the 5 theatre radius (May 21). MTC4 has really jacked up plf prices in the last year or so, and D&W is skewed heavily towards PLFs in my track. I'm not sure how many trackers are doing price adjustments, but lack of good MCU comps in the last year could see a big price impact. Watching L&T comps in particular because being a rare adult skewing July MCU film seems to be the most ideal (May 21). Solid jump over the course of the day. Dolby sales jumped up the most, potentially as good IMAX screens got taken. Not sure what happened for the East coast this morning, but sales seemed to have rebounded. A little hit and miss in different markets, but that's what I'd assume for that region. There's some small communities. Not sure why it took so long for sales to hit when southern Ontario was hot off the mark. People may have assumed 9:00 am eastern time. Numbers pulled around 11:00 am, so two hours worth of data. Chain is pushing 3D for the ticket premium. Exception is IMAX showings, where I think they know people just want the 2D experience. 60% of sales being those four IMAX showings. 40 minutes into presales for my area. Almost triple Dune 2 on my first measurement for that, which was Day 2. Bit ahead of my first measurement for The Marvels, which was T-21, and I think about a week into sales. They're really leaning into 3D showings. I get the desire for theatres to get the extra premium, but I can't see a lot of people wanting to see this in 3D. Has been up for sale on the Canadian East coast, presumably from 9:00 local time. I did a sweep of all showtimes on MTC4, but there's been zero sales so far (May 20).)
  
• YM! (Sold ~10.6x Furiosa's T-6. One theater makes up a sizeable percentage of most mid-sized Marvel's T-2 in a span of hours. Such a strong start. Definitely feels like we got a potential 25m previews/150m+ opener. Still don't buy 200m OW but am starting to see 30m previews/175m+ OW as a strong possibility. On its first day has sold over 10x Furiosa T-6 here in SE Wisconsin. At North Shore, 70% of Shang-Chi’s and Venom 2’s T-2, 47% of Homecoming’s T-2, and 41.25% of Thor: Ragnarök’s T-2 - just using DP&W’s T-66! At half of Furiosa’s T-4 sales here in the past ten minutes in just two of the theaters PLF shows (May 20). 42 showings for previews across four SE Wisconsin theaters I track. ~20% more showings than IO2 and about the same amount of PLFs spread. Likely 3-4 screens a theater for THU previews, but has SuperScreen + 2 UltraScreen screens in Majestic Cinema. Seems to be a 3D push with North Shore having primetime showings in 3D UltraScreen (May 19).)

Note: I have removed most tracking data that has not been updated for 2 weeks. I think there is value in keeping data for a week or two but at a certain point they start to lose their value and should not be treated the same as more recent tracking data.

Last year I did a 4-part mid-season minor league player ranking (Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4) as a sort amalgamation of the main publications' rankings, the DMN's rankings, LSB's rankings, scouting summaries, looking at minor league stats, and If I'm lucky, looking in person. I updated the list for myself after the trade deadline, then in the offseason, then again during Spring Training. Here is the latest iteration, after two months of affiliate ball and one month of Arizona Complex League Ball. I’ll list their name, current affiliate, age, how they were acquired, and stats or interesting notes. Stats are as of May 29 unless specified. Again these are my rankings, these are not any official rankings by any publication or MLB.com. You are free to disagree on anything here.
Overall the farm is weaker than last year, I think. A lot of guys close to graduating, but not enough innings or ABs (and if they're off the list, it makes the rankings worse). No batters except Morrobel have really exceeded expectations, and a lot have been pretty disappointing. Also, while there are several interesting pitchers in here, none are really close except Teodo and Leiter. Honestly everyone past 30 is pretty uncertain.
Graduated/traded since beginning of the year - Evan Carter (previously my #1), Davis Wendzel (previously a JAG, graduates based on age/previous Rule 5 eligibility), Zak Kent (DFA’d in March and traded to Cleveland), Anthony Hoopii-Tuinetoa (was probably gonna be on the list around the 30s or so before he was traded to the White Sox for Grossman)
notable minor leaguers in JAG (just-a-guy) status but are still playing well, that could (but not likely to) make the majors at some point - Blaine Crim (Round Rock), Sandro Fabian (Round Rock), Josh Hatcher (Frisco), Arturo Disla (Down East), Kohl Drake (Down East)

THE TOP 50

• 50 Chase Lee (RP, injured, AAA Round Rock) – 2021 6th rounder – 25 years old - he’s been injured this year, not sure when he’s coming back. He stays on this list because of previous list momentum and everyone else in the just missed category were too meh for me to bump out Chase. However, I can see him bumping off the list PTD if he doesn’t get healthy.
  
• 49 Ryan Lobus (SP, A+ Hickory) - 2023 undrafted free agent - 23 years old - After a quick promotion from Down East, he's been a strikeout machine in Hickory (15 K/9, 41% K-rate, higher than 5 K/BB ratio) and a 2.87 ERA. I’d heard nothing about this guy until very recently so color me a bit interested. May be a bit too old but I can't ignore the success.
  
• 48 Trevor Hauver (OF, AAA Round Rock) –Yankees 2020 3rd rounder, Joey Gallo trade –25 years old - the last piece of the Gallo trade is probably going to drop out of the list soon and go into JAG status, but in the meantime is still getting on base decently (.351 OBP) and versatile on defense.
  
• 47 Brayan Mendoza (Bulk Pitcher, A Down East) – 2021 international signee – 20 years old – “Bulk Pitcher” - I typically reserve a spot for some of the best performing “bulk pitchers” from the Down East squad, and this time its Mendoza; with a 3.06 ERA in 35.1 innings, he edges Kolton Curtis based on a better walk rate (8.4%) and better K-rate (24%).
  
• 46 Pablo Guerrero (1B/DH, Arizona Complex League) – 2023 international signee – 17 years old –Vlad’s son gets on the list with a fine, yet unspectacular start to Rookie Ball (88 wRC+), but will likely stay on due to how young he is.
  
• 45 Izack Tiger (Pitcher, injured, not assigned) – 2023 7th rounder – 23 years old – I keep hearing from beats and scouting reports he would’ve gone higher if not for injuries. Apparently has a triple digit fastball. I’d love to move him up this list, if he was actually playing.
  
• 44 Yosy Galan (OF, A+ Hickory) – 2020 undrafted free agent – 23 years old – I may be the last person on Earth that believes in this guy…but after a hot start to the season (186 wRC+ his first 8 games) he has absolutely floundered since. Lots of power but no hit tool. The Joey Gallo starter kit might not make the next iteration of the list at this point.
  
• 43 Alejandro Rosario (SP, A Down East) – 2023 5th rounder – 22 years old– I’m not gonna lie, I hated this draft choice last year based on his awful walk stats at University of Miami (also known as THE U). But somehow Rosario has turned into being a very respectable pitcher (1.78 ERA, 37% strikeout rate, 5% walk rate in 6 starts) and made me eat my words a bit. He might be a bit too old for Down East and could use a challenge.
  
• 42 Skylar Hales (RP, A+ Hickory) – 2023 4th rounder – 22 years old – the ERA is deceptive, most of that came in one outing on sequenced BABIP – pay attention to the 2.02 FIP, the 5.5% walk rate, and the 10 K/9. Bump up the strikeout rate just a bit, and he could be a great late-inning pen guy one day.
  
• 41 Esteban Mejia (SS/2B/3B, Arizona Complex League) – 2022 international signee – 19 years old – I had trouble deciding where to place him. He’s tearing up the ACL with a 175 wRC+, plays solid infield, walks a good amount, and doesn’t strike out often. But he has played 5 games in Down East and couldn’t handle it. So who knows.
  
• 40 Danyer Cueva (SS, injured, A Down East) - 2021 international signee – 20 years old – his second year in Down East, is not doing well again (28 wRC+), then he got injured. At this point he’s only this high due to previous list momentum (I had him just in the Top 30 in the Spring Training list). He’s still young enough to stay on the list but he’s gotta get going.
  
• 39 Tommy Specht (OF, A Down East) – 2022 6th rounder – 19 years old – really not doing that great in his second year of Down East (49 wrc+, 27% strikeout rate, low walk rate), but does seem to have been BABIP’d a bit and doesn’t hit too many groundballs. Still young enough to improve.
  
• 38 Marcos Torres (OF, A Down East) – 2022 international signee – 19 years old – like Specht, really not doing so great in Down East so far. But he gets the slight bump here due to being on eyear younger, and better sluggling giving him a lukewarm 76 wRC+.
  
• 37 Ian Moller (C, A+ Hickory) – 2021 4th rounder – 21 years old – I would’ve had Moller lower on the list (74 wrc+ this season) had he not suddenly started hitting (122 wrc+ since May 7). His defense is good enough to advance in the system but having him even hit close to league-average from catcher is a plus.
  
• 36 Liam Hicks (C, AA Frisco) – 2021 9th rounder – 24 years old – Despite his slightly-below-league-average offense (89 wRC+), his great Arizona Fall League last year, plus decent defense thi syear makes Hicks a possible candidate for the 40-man next year (not sure about playing in the majors, though). He gets a bump up from Moller due to his proximity to the majors.
  
• 35 Tyler Owens (RP, AA Frisco) – Braves 2021 13th rounder, JP Martinez trade - 23 years old – his numbers just seem solid at Frisco (slightly above average Ks, below average walk rate, been BABIP’d a bit). Not sure what the org has in store for him, but he could be a good mid-inning relief guy at some point next year.
  
• 34 Yeremi Cabrera (OF, Arizona Complex League) – 2022 international signee - 18 years old – his year is going pretty good so far (162 wRC+), with the highest ISO on the team (for regulars) at .459, and although his strikeout rate is too high, he’s so young. Interested to see if he can improve it at the complex before hitting Down East next year.
  
• 33 Braylin Morel (OF, Arizona Complex League) – 2023 international signee – 18 years old – Not hitting as well as Cabrera but grades better on speed/baserunning and has better grades on scouting. And still a solid ISO so far (.213). And he's 6 months younger than Cabrera, it leads to lots of room for growth. Let him cook.
  
• 32 Cody Freeman (3B, AA Frisco) – 2019 4th rounder – 23 years old - I worry I have him ranked too high. A defense first guy who was catching, but is no longer catching, usually gets moved back in order. But Freeman suddenly learned how to hit this year. 131 wRC+ in Frisco, and highest ISO and lowest K-rate of his career. He doesn’t walk a lot, and again this is the first time he’s really hit. He seems like a future bench bat, but it’s been exciting to see his success so far.
  
• 31 Maximo Acosta (SS, AA Frisco) – 2019 international signee – 21 years old – 86 wRC+ this year, so yeah, he has not lived up to his previous prospect hype. Prospect fatigue has definitely set in here, as every year he’s just been fine in his respective league. He was also Rule 5 eligible in the offseason and wasn’t even throught about for protection. But he is just 21 and plays a premiere defensive position. So he’ll be a consideration on this list for a bit.
  
• 30 Paulino Santana (OF, DSL) – 2024 international signee – 17 years old – I reserve #30 for the top international signee from the most recent draft class. A lot of publications with have him in the mid teens, and some might have him min the Top 10 (with a Julio Rodriguez comp). I’m gonna wait till he plays any games before I have him higher.
  
• 29 Joseph Montalvo (SP, A+ Hickory) – 2021 20th rounder – 22 years old – Montalvo with a really good May (1.74 ERA, 12.6 K/9) vaults him into the Top 30. Low walks, high strikeouts, 2.90 ERA for the seasonbodes well. However, his scouting grades are not ultimately the best. Seems like a high floor low ceiling guy. He is Rule 5 eligible this offseason apparently so hopefully he keeps it up in Hickory to be put on the 40-man. Not bad for a 20th rounder.
  
• 28 Jesus Lopez (C, A Down East) – 2022 international signee – 19 years old – a catcher…who plays good defensively…and plays good offensively? And his name is Jesus? His low-ish walk rate and high BABIP means there’s still a lot of room to grow, but the 116 wrc+, average K-rate, and the fact that he’s a 19 year old in Down East holding his own at a difficult defensive position is a great sign. A lot of helium here.
  
• 27 Alejandro Osuna (OF, A+ Hickory) - 2020 undrafted/international signee – 21 years old – repeating Hickory but has played pretty solidly this year (120 wRC+), with a bit more power stroke than previous years (.174 ISO is his highest), at the expense of his walk rate and K-rate. But nothing too exciting about him though. He’s this high due to list momentum. Probably a bench bat in the future but still young enough to claw for a higher ceiling.
  
• 26 Jonathan Ornelas (SS/3B, AAA Round Rock) – 2018 3rd rounder – 24 years old – two stints in the majors over the last two years with very limited AB opportunities. He will probably graduate off this list the next time he’s up to the major league team. He’s proven he can be a solid defensive sub, but not sure about his bat. Very low ceiling and is prob a AAAA guy. But at least he got the majors.
  
• 25 Marc Church (RP, injured, Round Rock) – 2019 18th rounder – 23 years old - He’s on the Minor league 60-Day IL due to a shoulder strain, which basically means he doesn’t count against the total number of minor leaguers in the system, but still does count as a 40-man member, for whatever reason. They can’t move him to the major league list because reasons. It’s really too bad he didn’t make the team out of Spring Training, because then he could’ve ended up on the 60-Day IL, and the Rangers would’ve had an extra roster spot. Injury aside, he was doing okay at AAA. If he’s healthy he’s a bullpen option.
  
• 24 Aidan Curry (SP, A+ Hickory) – 2020 undrafted free agent – 21 years old – dude bolted onto the scene last year, but has struggled in the South Atlantic League so far. Despite the 14.3 K/9, he also sports a 6.2 BB/9, has a .944 OPS against, 9 homers in 29 innings, and a 9.62 ERA. Not good. It’s still early, but Aidan really needs to work on control.
  
• 23 Winston Santos (SP, A+ Hickory) – 2019 international signee - 22 years old. His ranking has improved the best on this list (I had him late 30s in the pre-season). Repeating Hickory he has a 1.69 ERA with 58 strikeouts in 42.2 innings. He needs to be in Frisco as soon as possible. I think he’s a reliever long-term, but if he can do it in the upper minors, it may change my mind. Regardless, it’s a great start to his season so far.
  
• 22 Echedry Vargas (SS/3B, A Down East) – 2022 international signee - 19 years old – was hurt for a bit an April, and since his return, played pretty solidly. Despite a 97 wRC+ for the year, he's hit a 136 wRC+ since May 11. Due to his youth I’m still very interested in this guy.
  
• 21 Cole Winn (RP, AAA Round Rock) – 2018 1st rounder – 24 years old – I think you would’ve wanted a better outcome for a 1st round guy then a middle-reliever, but considering Winn was walking 6.4 and 7.0 walks per 9 for the last two years, it’s refreshing seeing him gain some semblance of control. Despite mixed results in the majors, his walk rate (5%, or 1.9 BB/9)is the lowest on the team. He’s currently in AAA on the reliever option carousel, and a few appearances short of graduating off the list. Nevertheless, he gets one last boost before disappearing.
  
• 20 Gleider Figuereo (3B, A Down East) – 2021 international signee – 19 years old - he’s found a power stroke, rocking a 134 wRC+ despite a .219 avg. He’s also walking a lot (16% rate). He’s massively improved from his weak 2023, and has become an interesting piece again.
  
• 19 Josh Stephan (SP, AA Frisco) – 2020 undrafted free agent – 22 years old – has had an okay year (4.82 ERA, middling peripherals). His last start on Tuesday was pretty solid (5.2 innings scoreless, three Ks, no walks). Still on track for a BORP but I’m not sure if he’ll be a viable candidate for the rotation next year. Probably a trade piece.
  
• 18 Jose Corniell (SP, injured, AA Frisco) – Seattle 2019 international signee, Rafael Montero trade – 20 years old – had a back injury that has delayed the start of his year. He’s already on the 40-man starting his option clock. Even though he was the 2023 minor league pitcher of the year, with no experience at AA or higher, this’ll be a grind.
  
• 17 Dane Acker (SP, AA Frisco) – White Sox Oakland 2020 4th rounder, Lance Lynn Elvis Andrus trade – 25 years old - after limiting injuries in 2023, Acker has had another solid year (36.1 innings, 2.72 ERA, 12.6 K/9). I think he’ll make the majors at some point in the next year or two, but his ceiling is really low. Considering he’s already 25, I can’t really rank him any higher.
  
• 16 Abimelec Ortiz (1B/DH, AA Frisco) – 2021 undrafted free agent – 22 years old – he broke out last year hitting bombs out of Down East and Hickory. But he has really struggled in Frisco, with a 63 wRC+ and pretty low walk rate. Hope he picks it back up. With his defensive limitations he’s not a top-tier prospect unless he can repeat his success.
  
• 15 Antoine Kelly (RP, AAA Round Rock) – Milwaukee 2019 2nd rounder, Matt Bush trade - 24 years old – I’m a bit bummed he didn’t get enough looks in Spring Training to make the team as a lefty reliver. But he’s had very mixed results in Round Rock (high strikeout rate, but very high walk rate). A couple of injuries in there too. He’s on the 40-man so he’ll eventually be up. I think eventually he’ll be a late-inning lefty guy but don’t think that’ll happen this year.
  
• 14 Aaron Zavala (OF, AA Frisco) – 2021 2nd rounder – 23 years old - he started off pretty hot in April (118 wRC+ that month) before cooling off a bit in May (73 wRC+). Overall playing a lot better than last year, but I’m not sure he’ll be anything more than a bench bat at this point.
  
• 13 Cameron Cauley (3B/SS, A+ Hickory) – 2021 3rd rounder – gotta be honest, I’m waiting for Cauley to start hitting. He’s got the defensive tools, but also sports a 32 wRC+. He was hurt for a bit, so maybe that has something to do with it. But he might start falling lower on the list soon.
  
• 12 Mitch Bratt (SP, A+ Hickory) – 2021 5th rounder – 20 years old - the ERA (5.70) is a bit misleading, his peripherals are great (9.9 K/9, 1.5 BB/9, high BABIP, fastball up to mid-90s). This is his second year in Hickory, but he entered it so young. His stats should normalize as the year goes on. I don’t have any qualms, and I think he’s on track and likely a BORP long-term.
  
• 11 Owen White (SP/RP, AAA Round Rock) – 2018 2nd rounder – 24 years old - sigghhhhhh anyway the best thing I can say about him is he can’t get worse than a WHIP of 7.00 and ERA of 54.00. No idea what to do with Owen at this point, but cooking in AAA seems to be the only way forward. He’ll graduate from the list next time he’s up to the majors, but who knows how long he even has on the 40-man.
  
• 10 Emiliano Teodo (SP, AA Frisco) – 2020 international signee – 23 years old – other than his walk rate (4.9 BB/9), he's really excelling as a starter in Frisco’s rotation. 2.09 ERA, .528 OPS against, 9.8 K/9, triple-digit fastball. Still not sure if he’ll end up as a late-inning type or a starter long-term, but the latter seems more likely now, and it seems like he could be a legit relief piece for this year's stretch run.
  
• 9 Dustin Harris (OF/1B, AAA Round Rock) – Oakland 2019 11th rounder, Mike Minor trade – 24 years old - his stats in AAA are meh (89 wRC+), but he has reverse splits and hitting lefties really well this year (1.080 OPS, more walks than strikeouts). I wish he would’ve gotten a chance over Derek Hill, but maybe he comes up if there’s another injury or they want to hold off on Evan Carter when he's healthy. Ultimately Harris is likely a bench piece who’s not that great at defense. Still a positive outcome as the PTBNL for a struggling starter in the last year of his contract (Minor).
  
• 8 Yeison Morrobel (OF, A+ Hickory) – 2021 international signee – 20 years old - was meh and hurt in Down East last year. But really having a good one in Hickory (112 wRC+) and is one of the better hitters for that pitiful offensive squad. Since May 8 he has a 170 wrc+, .964 OPS, 4 homers, and 13 RBIs. He’s turned from an afterthought to a decent candidate for the outfield in a few years (perhaps when Adolis finishes arbitration), or a good trade piece for the next few years.
  
• 7 Anthony Gutierrez (OF, A+ Hickory) – 2022 international signee – 19 years old – not as good stats as Morrobel (69 wRC+ [nice]) but has a much better scouting pedigree and can play CF. Was a bit injured the last few weeks, but has been *okay) in Hickory at only age 19. Same expectations as Morrobel for the next few years. I think one of them is the Taveras/Garcia replacement, the other is likely traded for the final piece of a playoff run.
  
• 6 Kumar Rocker (SP, injured, not assigned) – 2022 1st rounder – 24 years old – still recovering from Tommy John, the hope is he’s pitching at some point in July. I hope in Frisco, because he was on a heater last year in Hickory before he got hurt. He rises in this list due to Carter graduating, White’s struggles, and Harris being meh.
  
• 5 Brock Porter (SP, A+ Hickory) – 2022 4th rounder – 20 years old - he was really, really struggling at High-A, enough to where he was pulled onto the development list, kinda like Leiter last year. Supposedly he had mechanics tweaked in Spring Training, and they needed to fine tune it before he went back out to affiliate ball. Hope it works for him. He’s still young, but we really need Porter to rescue the 2022 draft, cause it’s not looking good this year so far.
  
• 4 Justin Foscue (2B/3B, Majors) – 2020 1st rounder – 25 years old – the major league team desperately needs a bat that can hit lefties. It’s really too bad Foscue came up, played two games, then got hurt via oblique, and ended up on the 60-Day IL. I have no idea the extent of his injury. If he comes back he can get enough ABs to graduate off the list. But in the meantime, he did do enough to even make the majors at all, so that’s a positive.
  
• 3 Jack Leiter (SP, AAA Round Rock)- 2021 1st rounder – 24 years old – it’s go time for Jack. After his development list stint last year has massively improved his control, earned a promotion to AAA, and had done pretty well there…but injuries on the major league team forced him to start three times for the major league squad, and he got absolutely shelled. I hope the Rangers stay healthy enough so that Jack can spend the rest of the year not on the major league team, and continue cooking in AAA. His start last night was not good, so he needs more polish. But it'd be incredibly. foolish to already call him a bust based on being rushed to the bigs and one bad AAA start. Hope that next year he is a legitimate rotation candidate, and not a desperate last resort.
  
• 2 Sebastian Walcott (SS, A+ Hickory) – 2023 international signee – 18 years old – after a very rough start, Walcott has definitely acquiesced to the level. He has a 95 wrc+, which is fine. Take out his first two weeks and it’s 121 wRC+ (since April 19). Also he has a 17% walk rate. And he’s 18 years old…so yeah. He’ll be the new top prospect for the Rangers in a couple of weeks.
  
• 1 Wyatt Langford (OF, Majors) – 2023 1st rouder – 22 years old – honestly, Wyatt stays on this list because he makes the list stronger just by being on here, and because he was hurt for three weeks, leaving him just short of ABs to graduate. Regardless, the future is bright for Wyatt, even if he’s struggled so far in the majors. A loooot of room for improvement.

Background
I'm a 39y female (bday in Feb so will be 40 at Boston.) Have run 2 marathons before - NYC in 2008 in 4:20 and Chicago in 2015 in 3:58. Have been a lifelong hobby runner and a decent middle distance runner in high school/early college but never purposely trained for a marathon. In the years since, I went through medical training, had 2 kids, was diagnosed with severe Crohns. While watching Boston on TV in 2023 I decided I wanted to run another marathon and hopefully BQ. I signed up for the Detroit 2023 marathon and hired a coach. The week I hired the coach, I ended up in the hospital with a severe Crohns flare and bowel obstruction. After 2 weeks off running and minimal nutritional intake, I tried to ramp back up in attempts to train but was always too sick. I eventually gave up and decided to take a few months to rest and get my Crohns under control. Fast forward to Nov 2023, I started feeling good again and decided to give the goal another chance. I started to gradually ramp up my mileage to a base of around mid-30s/wk, easy. I registered for Bayshore and decided not to use a coach. I settled on the Hal Higdon Intermediate 2 Plan but added some 'quality' work midweek and threw some MP miles into my long runs.
Official training started in late Jan. I peaked at 52 MPH, getting in 2x20 mile runs and 1 22 mile run. I missed 4 runs due to the flu but other than that, never missed a run. I tried to lift twice per week as well. Many runs were done in the dark at 4:45am through the MI winter (very.mild this year!) and my husband held down the fort while I did my weekend long runs. I did a lot of hills in my training at some of the metro parks even though the course is flat. I had some posterior hamstring tendonopathy and saw a PT 1x/wk. My training paces started to slowly improve and I began to feel confident I could hit that C goal of a substantial PR. My close running friend who I have known since HS track was confident I could run faster, but I was skeptical.
This was also my first time ever fueling/hydrating in training. I bonked at about 19-20 in both previous marathons and never carried fuel or water. This time I would eat 1-2 waffles before a long run and a gel or crackers before a shorter run. I got used to using Maurtens on the run (after some trial and error with various gels due to my sensitive Crohns gut) and drinking Gatorade Endurance and/or LMNT on long runs.
I alternated between Asics GT 2000s and Brooks Adrenaline trainers and did 1 long run in my race shoes Adidas Adizero Adipro 3.
Pre-race
I decided to follow the Meghan Featherstun carb loading 3 day plan. I probably got in around 400g carbs and really avoided fiber and fat. The day before the race I drive up with my family (about a 4 hr drive) and walked around TC with the kids (5 and 7 year old boys.) I ate pancakes for lunch, plain pasta for dinner, drank Gatorade endurance all day, and snacked on sooo many pretzels and gummy candies. I felt like a swollen tick by race day and was very worried I'd have major GI issues, as I usually need to make a portapotty stop 2-3x on a long run.
My family and I were sharing a small 1BR AirBNB which was probably a mistake because I woke up at like 4am with nervous jitters and had to sit in the dark to not wake up everyone else.
My husband drove me to the start line where it was a nice, calm vibe. It was VERY humid and drizzly but the temps were great at mid 50s. I chatted with some of the runners but mostly kept to myself. I went to the bathroom 3x which was helpful in clearing the system before the race.
Race
I lined up about 30 ft behind the 3:30 pacers. When the race started, it was very congested and I felt myself going out too fast based on the other runners running quite fast around me. My plan was to maintain 8:20s for the first 19-20 miles and then pick it up if I felt okay. My first few miles were at 7:58-8:10 pace and felt VERY hard. I was convinced I went out too fast and this race was going to be a disaster. I even started thinking about dropping out when I saw my family at the 10k mark but the idea of disappointing my kids kept me going. I figured I would slow down once the crowds spread out and tried to relax.
A few miles into the race I realized that I was still maintaining that 8:05 average pace but it wasn't feeling so hard. I got out of my head a bit and turned on some music. I took a gel every 3.5miles (Maurten Caf at 0, 7, and 17.5) and had Gatorade at every water station. I probably only got 1-2 oz in and eventually decided to walk through the stations, rather than run, to get more in my mouth and less on my shirt. I learned my lesson of wearing a white tank top which is now pink and yellow from the Gatorade. I also started with a handheld but tossed it to my husband at around mile 7 because it was annoying me.
I felt like I was working the entire race, which made me nervous, because I would hear runners chatting easily all around me. In fact, there was a runner who has a blog I have followed for years (she posted her recap earlier!) who I was very nearby for most of the race and I wanted to say hello, but I felt so winded I didn't think I could carry on a conversation. I decided to stick to myself and keep my eyes up.
Around mile 18 or so I realized I wasn't yet bonking and I was still okay, and started to move up when other runners were fading. I would systematically focus my gaze on a runner in front of me and try to reel them in. My legs were really starting to fatigue and I kept thinking I was going to blow up, but never did. I was negotiating with myself, telling myself I could walk, telling myself I could slow down, etc. I was never one for mantras, but found myself repeating "This is easier than Crohns." "This is easier than residency." "Don't let your kids see you quit." "Forward is a pace.)
I agree with the other poster that the end of the race was a bit confusing but the finish on the track was great. I saw 3:32 on the clock and FREAKED OUT as I was coming in. I saw my husband and kids in the stands and was teary eyed.
Post-race
This was a dream day. It felt like everything came together. Somehow I managed to run COMPLETELY even splits: 1:46:17 for each half. The carb load worked, the on-course fueling worked, and my stomach behaved. It completely felt like redemption for blowing up the year before with the Crohns flare. I met up with my kids, ate some food, had a giant bagel from Bubbie's Bagel, and walked around until it was time for the kids race. There, I cheered for my kids from the stands while my husband ran with them.
Lots of quad soreness the next few days but nothing unexpected. By today, 5 days out, I feel completely normal.
Looking forward, I am optimistic that my 7+ min buffer will let me run Boston next year. I'm not sure how I would change my training as I feel like the mileage was the most I could fit in with work, parenting, and the limited daylight of MI in the winter, but I'd be open to adding in more speedwork. Open to any feedback.
I tend to not do very much racing - I rarely do 5ks or half marathons, but it might be fun to train for a faster 5k in the summefall. Part of me wants to do Boston 2025 and then be done with marathons - the other part wants to see how fast I can get in the marathon. Not sure where this will go.Thanks for reading!

👋 Thank you in advance for any insight!
LO is a little over 7m. I always feel like she is stuck in an overtired cycle (based on this excellent pinned post: https://www.reddit.com/sleeptrain/comments/1029stz/troubleshooting_schedule_101_overtired_and/) and it feels like it's getting worse. She didn't sleep well (ie. only while held and max 2-3h total in crib) until 2m old when she started reflux meds and within 2 days started sleeping 11-12h with 0-1 wakeup, and then things fell apart during the 4-3 nap transition. At that point (4.5-5m) she was sleeping 15h/24h period and that seemed to be great for her. Now...I don't know really what she needs.
She has always struggled to hit average age WWs and I feel like she does best with ~14-14.5h of sleep. I don't know if this just the overtired cycle or how she is. Most nights though she gets ~13.75 and then will have a couple per week that are like 14.75, with the odd ~12.5 if things are really off the rails.
I've been struggling with PPD and the fragmented sleep and worry about her scheduling is…tough. I have every sleep book recommended as well as guides from popular online consultants and I feel overwhelmed, tbh.
Schedule
She was on 2.25/2.5/2.5/2.75 WW with 3 naps until the past week. When that schedule worked she was taking 2 solid naps (1.5h and 1h roughly) and a short 3rd nap independently. The past 10 days her naps have gotten really short (~45 min) unless I extend them by either rocking or nursing her back to sleep. If I do that I basically have to wake her after 2h.
LO can fall asleep independently and does for the majority of her naps. The exception is the 3rd nap where if she's really fighting it I'll nurse her to sleep and then wake her after ~30 min. She used to be nursed to sleep at night (the way I thought she could get extra calories) but I stopped that about 3-4 weeks ago and now she has milk 30-45 min before bed (needs to be held upright for 20min after), followed by bath and pjs and falls asleep independently.
I thought she was showing signs for the 3-2 nap transition so I started extending WW. Bumping the first to 2.5 has helped her first nap, but she can't quite make the last ww work without being overtired and having a false start.
Also, on the 3 nap schedule she was getting ~9.75-10.5 (!!) of total wake time with bedtime being pushed sometimes until 9 pm (!!!). Now I'm paranoid that she's SUPER sleep deprived from way too much TWT over the past couple of weeks.
Night Sleep
With her 3 nap schedule I noticed a lot of nights where she was only getting 9.5-10.5h of overnight sleep and sometimes only 12-12.5h in 24hr period...That seems like way too little for her, right? On the 2.5/3/3.5 schedule last night she did get a little over 14h (I track to the minute she wakes up and falls back asleep).
However, she was typically nursing 1-2 times/night when her schedule seemed to be in a good place, with no false starts or other wake-ups. Now (especially last night when we did do 2.5/3/3.5) she's waking a bunch. 4 wakings before midnight, and then I try for 5/3/3 with nursing though last night it looked like 4.5/3/2.5.
I would love any guidance or suggestions that have worked for your LOs during this phase! I have like 5 different sleep guide books that recommend slightly different schedules and I just feel like I have no idea what I'm doing anymore. I'm able to micromanage her schedule because I (mercifully) wfh (LO largely cared for by dad during my work hours) so I'm hoping that with some careful management we can right the ship again.

Note: for some games from humble I might ask for gift links. There is a rumor 3 years ago that humble bans users due to making gift links only. I make gift links every week, never have any issues. This is probably only my second post about any stocks on Reddit, despite trading off and on for years (mostly crypto for a while, stocks again recently). You can see that I've been on the boards for a long time I just tend not to post much anywhere, but hopefully you'll give me a little leeway and read this post. I initially found this company today because they popped up on a filter I run for companies with weird volume and price action, among other things. Mostly it pops up garbage if the price is under $5 or so, but every once in a while I decide to take a look for one reason or another.
Well, when the name Banzai came up, I couldn't help but research it. I'll get more into my research as I go, but the first thing I clicked on that made me pause was this Form 4 that you can see here, where it looks like the CTO, who isn't an owner, was just granted options to purchase a total of 150,000 shares for $500,000 - or $3.33. Then I noticed the CFO, the VP of Revenue and the VP of Marketing also made the exact same move. The CEO and owner...the CEO was awarded the right to 600,000 shares at 2,000,000. For those still counting, that's 1,200,00 shares at a $4,000,000 valuation, an insider move they make upon expecting the stock to go up, but also one that they had to report to the SEC. They're awarding these shares to themselves at $3.33/share, and this is while the stock is at $0.20 mind you. Oh and and 300,000 of those shares were at a $5 strike price. After reading about that and making pretty sure I was reading all it that right, I dove in more.
They sustained $10/share for quite a while, then it dropped to around $6, before spiking back up in December 2023 to $15 after hours and then slowly fading into oblivion ever since. This company sales marketing and advertising software as a service, has been discussing a "new platform," are located in Seattle, and seem to be positioning themselves to be bought out by an AI sector. Can anyone think of any Seattle A.I. companies? Microsoft maybe? They list customers such as Square, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Thermo Fisher Scientific, Thinkific, Doodle and ActiveCampaign, among their thousands.
Then I read about them closing an IPO of 13,800,000 shares at $0.18 and that's when I realized that the total amount needed for APES to own the outstanding shares of this company was just $2.9MIL IN TOTAL. Those IPO shares that are now sitting at just $0.21 have a current short float of 6.61% according to FinViz...it's not huge, but WE COULD LITERALLY OWN ALL THE STOCK. Someone else has to be thinking this, right?
Other Filings and News: This Form 8K filed on May 22nd - means they intend on remaining an "Emerging Growth Company" for the next five fiscal years. Also says they issued stock to Yorkville portfolio (an investor) that can't sell it for 90 days - that's the end of August for people keeping track. And this stock issuance clears the company of $750k in debt off it's books.
You can read their Full Prospectus at that link. There's a lot to it and it's definitely a risky company that hasn't been profitable yet. That didn't stop me from getting in on FFIE at $0.045, and even though I sold early, I still banked $3500 profit before being spooked out. FFIE might be dead after their last earnings call, but Banzai is brand new.

BNZI has been talked about a little bit before, but I didn't know that until I was writing this article up actually. Most of the posts are from the last three days or so, probably spotting the same unusual activity that I did, with news articles going back 3-5 months about growth potential.
