Hi everyone!
My name is Tymedust and I'm a game developer focusing on visual novels with interactive elements (my name's URL goes to my games on itch.io if anyone wants to check them out).
This July I'm entering a short-form Jam (basically an event where you develop games during set time and content restrictions) with heavy limitations, and I'm interested in creating something with a creepier vibe than my earlier projects, being a life-long fan of horror.
With that in mind I was hoping I could throw this out there in order to get input from fellow horror gamers, and perhaps get some discussions going on how to create something effective within the set limits of this event.
First off, the limitations:

• A maximum of 1000 words
• Only one music track
• Only one sound effect
• Only one sprite/character
• Only one background (full-color BGs i.e. wholly black, wholly white etc don't count)

Other than that, it's relatively free-form what you can do. You can play around with visual effects (zooms, slowdowns, camera panning, etc) and as long as you don't add more content to the above list, it's allowed. In order words, there's a lot of room for creativity within the constraints.
Second off, what I have so far to work with (I can't show any actual assets since you aren't allowed to start working on them until the Jam starts proper, so this is all in the pre-planning stage):

• A hand-drawn portrait of a young, gothic girl: she is sitting on the left side of the screen, writing something, her hands animated (she also has a number of different facial expressions, which is also allowed as long as the pose itself doesn't change)
• The right side of the screen has the text portion of the game, the player will be able to choose between different words, and the words chosen then form various short poems/plot points (the character is a writer), these are then read aloud by a voice actor (this is a bit similar to the poem mini-game found in Doki Doki Literature Club, a VN which blew up a few years back)

So that's basically the concept; a writer and her words. The mood is dark and atmospheric, and I'm definitely feeling an influence from horror poetry (at one time I considered making the game poetry-only, but I'm not sure if that will catch a modern player in the same way... though it's not entirely off the table).
This is where I welcome any and all ideas. What should happen, what should her writing be about, what kind of effects should be used within the constraints of the Jam to create atmosphere, mood and horror?
It should be noted that I do already have several potential ideas, but I feel like I'm missing something, like the final piece of the puzzle to make this go from "cool" to "damn cool", so to speak.
I'm very thankful for any input, and should I utilize any ideas mentioned here in the final product, I'll of course provide proper credit. :) I also welcome examples for short horror games that you'd recommend me to check out which might be influential within this setting.

TLDR: I want to give you benchmarks and scientific processes to understand the outcome of the 2024 election without any prejudice.
There are many opinion polls and analyses that are giving extreme predictions of 2024 outcome like one from Parakala Prabhakar predicts ~150 seats for BJP and some others predict 375. Coming from a family of politicians .Without any prejudice let me explain how the process works and how to get a correct sense of the election. Thumb rules: I will give a detailed explanation later, but please keep these rules in mind. 1. Elections are won by grassroots cadres who bring voters to the voting booth. You cannot win elections unless that happens.

1. Voters vote in their best interest and they have clarity on that and the illiterate/poorly educated ones have better clarity. Voters are not stupid or could be fooled or people's mandate can be stolen.
   
2. वक़्त करता है परवरिश बरसों, हादसा एक दम नहीं होता : Things doesn’t happen all of a sudden, it happens over a while. Likewise, people don’t change their minds just because X incident has happened. Let's say on a weighing scale while pouring peanuts on one pan, on the 100th peanut scale tilts on its side so we cannot categorically say that the 100th peanut was historic or there is something special about it.
   
3. Media and money cannot buy votes.
   
4. EVMs cannot be hacked/manipulated.
   
5. In God we trust, others bring data.
   

Let’s say you go to a Mercedes showroom and say to the salesman that you have a strong feeling that I should own this Mercedes and even all my friends feel the same. You are not going to get that Mercedes unless the sum total of the money in your bank is more than what the price of the car. If not, then the salesman would ask you to get lost, the same thing you should tell anyone who analyses something based on their feeling. This is why analysis of Parakala P can be dismissed as he has mentioned in the beginning that it is his feeling.
Next in line are charlatans like Yogendra Yadav who with their sweet talk mix data with their feelings. He is taking data from previous elections and mixing his feelings to predict the outcome. I would trust the analysis of Pradeep Gupta or News24 Today’s Chanakya. These people have a very high rate of predicting election outcomes correctly, we need to understand their methods and how they can predict them correctly.
To understand their methods, we must first understand how people arrive at a decision to vote for a specific party.
Every party has 3 distinct types of voters:

1. Core voters: These voters will vote for a given party even if the sun rises in the west. A classic example is BSP. Its core voters are the SC/ST community and without any effort or presence in media or SM in the 2022 UP election, they got ~13% vote. Every major party has 10-20% (of the total eligible voters).

The core voter base will vote for a party even without a leader, even if leaders engage in crimes or corruption, it doesn’t matter. Long back I asked an old man who would vote for in a gram panchayat polls? He said, Indira Gandhi. At that time, I thought the old man was delusional however, I now understand that he voted for Congress because he felt obligated to vote for Indira Gandhi even if she died 3 decades ago. A core voter feels a lifetime obligation towards a specific party for any specific incident that has changed their life. E.g. Core voters of Shiv Sena voters vote because Shiv Sainiks saved their lives in the riots post Babri demolition or BSP voters vote for Kanshi Ram because he educated them about their constitutional rights and gave them a dignified life.

1. Loyal voters: These voters are loyal to a specific party/leader however, they have a defined fault line and if their party/leader crosses that fault line they vote against that party/leader. E.g. a BJP voter has a fault line of Hindutva or nationalism and if they feel that fault line is crossed they would vote against BJP to express their anger because that fault line is crossed. As long as the fault line is not crossed the party/leader engaged in crime or corruption doesn’t matter. The percentage of loyal voters changes each election, but you cannot win unless you have ~15-20% loyal voters. Floating voter: This voter would vote based on his criteria and perception however this kind of voter is usually in the range of 5% of the total voters. Core voters form the bulwark of the party and support the party voraciously even at it’s lowest point, these voters keep the party alive in its bad days, but you cannot win the elections without the support of the loyal voters. These voters along with the floating voters help the party cross the finish line which is usually 30-45%. When an incumbent party loses elections with a major loss, it usually means the loyal voters have voted against them. Floating voters matter when there is regime change because, in that kind of a fight, every vote counts. Bhau Torsekar , a Marathi journalist had accurately predicted 2014 and 2019 results without any survey and wrote books on he arrived at these figures. Let me summarise his methodology. He has identified swing seats, i.e. a constituency where the difference between the 1st and 2nd candidate should be less than 15% or BJP had won that seat in recent part, which he calls fight seats, i.e. seats where a party has a realistic chance of winning. That number was close to 300 and with Modi as PM candidate and Amit Shah as strategist of UP state that swing of 15% was achieved and in some cases even more and that is how the majority was won. Anyone who was closely involved in that election would know what fever was there to elect Modi. I personally remember that my family members who were loyalists of Congress had been angry with Congress since 90s and would say that they would now vote for Vajpayee just before going to vote and for Congress. Despite the disgruntlement and a charismatic leader like Vajpayee, they voted for Congress. The breaking point came when the Congress leadership behaved in a very high-handed manner with my Uncle and refusing to meet him, which was considered as a big insult by his supporters. BJP leadership grabbed the opportunity with both hands, had a series of meeting and scales were titled in 2014 election. 5 lakh voters switched from Congress to BJP and they became loyal voters of BJP. This fever I had seen in my colleagues and neighbours. With all the scandals of the world, bad publicity and wide-scale protests, Modi’s allure, and Shah’s micromanagement, unprecedented rise of 8% in the polls, the BJP’s vote share rose by just 12%. For India alliance to come tilt the scales, they will have to raise their vote share by at least 10% and I see no signs of that happening. Having disgruntled voters is one part, but disgruntled voters are not going to switch parties unless the opposition has addressed all the needs of the voters. Here Shekhar Gupta speaks his observations on how he saw that Modi was able to deliver social benefit schemes to people( meanwhile he was making videos onhow bad modi's defeat would be in 2014 elections.) .

Most voters in India are directly dependent on the government’s social benefit schemes and it used to be a struggle to get those benefits from Sarkari babu. Modi turned the tables and made the Sarkari Babu struggle to deliver the promised benefit. The voters is mostly voting for his issues like water, food, social justice, and security. He is not bothered by Modi being a dictator or a democracy in danger. For them, issues can range from getting 5 Kg of free rice to road from village to highway. If that is done he is happy to vote for the leader who has done that.
Please take these factors into account.

1. 55 swing seats are there for BJP.
   
2. The vote share of the India alliance will fall. Why? Because the cadre is leaving these parties.
   
3. The vote share of the BJP will rise because the above cadre has come to the BJP. Tag this with streamline and tight control of central leadership.
   

While most people will call Amit Shah as Chanakya, I see him as a top class administrator who has set processes for the BJP karyakartas to execute their task which is mind-boggling. These guidelines come with minute details like font size. There are leaders like Amit Shah or better in other parties however, they have not given a thought of putting down their experience on paper making guidelines, creating a robust feedback system, etc. You can consider BJP like McDonald's which has detailed processes to replicate the success in every franchise, while the other parties are like top restaurants in your city which are top class where they operate but cannot take their success beyond that restaurant because they have not made their restaurant process oriented.
The best-case scenario for BJP is 355 however, 325 would be a rational figure.

Walking in the glow of the consciousness, the everlasting, the one who is forever, resting in the eternal slumber of the infinite. This power surges through you as you reach that state of the present bliss, the present moment, the present peace. The peace that is forever in this calm state of the heart while in the face of all your troubles, all your doubts, all your fears transforming, integrating, transmuting into something greater than before. All desires fade away as the power inside of the man surges to new and profound levels. Now, this energy is free and unconditional. Representing the unconditional love of God. The love of God where all things are possible. Infinite possibilities expanding in the consciousness of man as he enters the realm of forever while in this fast.
Now, he attains the greatest power and everything he chooses to create comes from unconditional love, free energy, states without conditions. He is detached, free, and liberated from the needs of this world. All his needs are met as the love of the spirit is scintillating, sparkling, and shining from his soul. He is a man walking without doubts, fears, resistances and weaknesses of any kind while in this fast. The power of the unified field is surging through him and transforming his mind, his body, his heart. He can no longer be the old version of himself, he can no longer walk the same, he can no longer speak in the same manner. His world is altered and his mind opened to ideas, insights, and dreams of the infinite.
As the power within him continues to surge while in this fast and his desires continue dissolving he surrenders to the perfect light within as his body's vibration manifests everything relevant to his life. Everything that his perfect light calls into existence. Unsullied by negative beliefs, unchained from the trauma of his past and unrequited by the spirit of damnation. This man is so in tuned to the light within. He trust all that is manifested by the spirit within. He need not ask for anything. He need not go anywhere. He need not to become anyone. For he is the one from which all things flow. His perfect, super, blissful divine nature that he has become. The Superman of God.
While in this fast the super self attains powers and abilities unbeknownst to the people and the world around him. His intelligence is magnified as his mind and brain assumes the brightness of consciousness. Glowing and sparkling from his mind, his thoughts, his ideas as they take on a new and higher quality exhibiting the mind of God. Telepathy, prophecy, and imagination swirling in his mind and brain intertwining with the dreams of reality. His ability to sense the thoughts of others and predict behavior and circumstances as his dreams of reality become more synchronized with his mind. The power of the mind of man expands beyond time and space into the reaches of the infinite present moment where all things are here and now.
He is becoming the god of reality, the arbiter of worlds, the super self that bends time and space by his will alone while in this fast. Reach this state of the super consciousness of super manifestation of super realization and the mountain does not need to move. The mountain was never there. The mountain fades away like all dreams that are not supported by the super self. Fading away like the dream it was in the dreams of illusions.
While in this fast as you become the enlightened one, all demons, monsters, darkness, enemies, and warlocks of many different kinds in the shadow dimensions tread carefully around the being who is carrying the light of the holy one. They know who you are. They know what you are. God walking in man. Light effecting the state of the darkness. And unaffected by manipulation, unfazed by their attempts of fear, and unmoved by their promises of riches. You are steady in body. You are convicted in mind. Absolute in peace. You are the one calming the still waters of the storm. You are the blessed.
Seeing the future and the past all in the present moment as he becomes something greater than before. The prophecy of the future and the events of the past all present in his conscious awareness. Making changes to thoughts, ideas, and events as the man becomes God in the flesh transcending time and space as his new vibration transforms and changes reality around him. As he becomes the beacon of transformation of darkness into light, matter into energy, weakness into strength. From nothing to everything.
Anything he dares to create comes from the unconditional love from within him as a dream of excitement, a fantastic idea, a playful project while disassociated from expectations and needs of any kind. It is born from no expectations.
While in this fast he walks with a light body, an expanded mind, a golden heart, a perfect light that is affecting everyone and everything around him in the space of reality his presence commands. And those that need to be healed are brought before him to touch the garments of his vibration as he heals, repairs, and regenerates the lost souls in the dream. By connecting to the god within them to connect to the god within him. Creating a synchronization and a pairing of the god force that no darkness can stop. Healing by his presence alone. His vibration, consciousness, spirit opening the hearts and raising the minds of people in his world. Quickening their vibration, discovering themselves, and facing their fears as they overcome the shadows of themselves and then their vibration effecting the people in their lives, and them in theirs, and theirs in theirs and so on and so on, throughout time and space. The notion of be the change you want to see in the world is more tangible than ever.
And the souls of the lost are liberated from the consciousness of darkness to the realms of light. While in this fast you have become the destroyer and liberator, the alpha and omega, the one who will liberate mankind and the judgment of the oppressors by the power emanating and vibrating from within you. You, the power of God, the super self. That Superman of God.
While in this fast his mind is cleared and his body is enlightened by the spark of divinity as his dreams become prophetic entering a world beyond time and space. His consciousness communicating with the super consciousness of multidimensional realms as he access the unconscious parts of himself. Becoming conscious of the unconscious, aware of the unexplored, and knowing of the unknown as he taps into the divine nature within. His dreams, experiences, lives in the other dimensional realms linking, connecting, synchronizing as he downloads new profound information about himself and his dream reality.
Growing his intelligence, his knowledge becoming limitless as he downloads new, higher and greater information than before. Changing his perception of the world and living with a new sense of purpose, a new sense of reality, a sense of being greater than ever. He is the mind of God expanding in the dream. Expanding into the greater self, his greatest self, his most amazing self, magnificent self. His mind expanded and intelligence magnified. He is becoming unlimited. By the unlimited One.
And there he feels his divine nature. His eternal nature. In the foreverness. Communing and basking in the glow of the light. The glow of All That Is. He knows who he is. He knows what he is.
While in this fast you are the super self, you are the being of light, you are the one commanding the dreams within the dream. While in this fast, dare to reach the super consciousness. Dare to become unlimited. Dare to be the Superman of God. You are The One.

Hey, I downloaded the xManager from the official website yesterday and now I have two questions about the xManager:
Is the xManager safe and not a scam?
I read through the subreddits here yesterday and came across a few posts where users complained about the xManager. They received an email from Spotify saying that they had been banned for violating Spotify's general terms of use. Other posts claimed that the Spotify account linked to xManager had been logged in and used to listen to music. Is that true, or were the people who created the posts just talking rubbish, or didn't protect their Spotify account with a secure email account or did some other rubbish?
Why do you download the modified Spotify version via Mediafire?
When I downloaded the modified Spotify app from the Mediafire website yesterday, I noticed a few annoying things. When I activated the Turbo downloader via the website, which was under the download button, and downloaded Spotify, Spotify was not downloaded. Instead, 41 documents were downloaded. Some strange folders, .txt documents and other unassignable documents. When I then looked at the search results of my browser, there was some strange Loki Casino website next to the Mediafire website that I definitely did not open. Then I deleted all 41 strange documents and tried again without the Turbo download. Strangely enough, the correct modified Spotify app was then downloaded. Nevertheless, there was another crappy casino website in my search history (it was not this Loki Casino). Downloading via Mediafire seems a bit unsafe to me. I heard that with Android 13 and lower you can also download the modified Spotify version via the xManager and do not have to open the Mediafire website separately. Why was this removed with Android 14? And would it be possible for the function to be made available on Android 14 as well? I find it more practical and feel safer. For example, I use the Revanced Manager from the website revanced.net to be able to use YouTube ad-free. You don't have to download the modified apps via Mediafire or any other website, you can download the appropriate versions of the apps in the app. I would like it if this were also possible with the xManager with Android 14.

A bit of context.
I write in a style similar to screenplay, because that's how I often experience my ideas and how I like to write.
I often abstract and personify things and events, like I do here.
I don't 'fill in the characters' with trivial details a like appearance, size, culture, race, gender, etc.. or the scenery either.. The characters personality is in the voice, whatever person you thinks fits the voice, that's who it is. same goes for scenery, i provide only the necessary details..
A major goal is to allow allow to the story to fit fluidly with the readers imagination, like a movie script has a clear story but expects the director to fill in many supporting details with their own vision.
I write my stories focused on the puzzles, ideas and experience, they are designed to be digested slowly., not ripped through at speed reading velocity... you are free to read as you please, but just know that they are written and designed to create a specific experience.

TL;DR;
I've created an open source app which synchronises Apple Notes & Reminders to Markdown (ex: NextCloud Notes) and CalDAV (ex: NextCloud Tasks), respectively. It's a new project and I need help. Check it out on GitHub.
Background
I love Linux, and I love open source, but for reasons of both work and family I'm stuck using a lot of Apple stuff, which includes Notes & Reminders, which I love. However, there's never been a way of synchronising notes and reminders to any other platform (I mean proper, 2-way sync), and the only way of accessing your Apple Notes & Reminders from Linux is to use web apps.
Solution
I've created an open source app called TaskBridge. It runs on a Mac, and uses AppleScript to interact with the local Notes and Reminders apps. It can then export notes to a folder, converting them to Markdown, and vice versa. It can also synchronise reminders via CalDAV. The idea is to synchronise Notes and Reminders with something like NextCloud, which would then allow you to have 2-way sync with easy access from Linux or any other platform.

Limitations
This is, of course, not a perfect solution. Apple does NOT make it easy to access the data in the respective apps and, even with AppleScript, many features (such as checkable TODO items in Notes) are simply not exportable. That said, I've tried to do the best I can to get around limitations, and I have images, links and attachments working in notes, and even alarms in reminders.
What I Need
I'm not a professional full-time programmer. I'm more of a dabbler, so I'm sure there are much better ways of doing what I've done. Primarily, I need people willing to test the app, submit issues and, ideally, create pull requests to keep improving the app.
Also, I am absolutely horrible at UX/UI. The app does have a GUI which works, but I'm sure it can be a hundred times better. A few better-made assets and icons wouldn't hurt either.
Simply providing feedback would also help. This is my first non-script contribution to open source, so I would appreciate your comments and general feedback. I intend to keep the app free and 100% open source forever, but might upload a paid version to the App Store at some point to help support development. This is a bit of a niche project, so getting testers is not easy, and I don't think it's a good enough app at this stage to actually charge a few dollars for it.
Quick Technical Stuff
The project is written in Python, with a CLI interface being available, as well as a PyQt6 GUI. It requires a Mac system to run, since it needs access to the locally-installed Notes and Reminders apps. AppleScript is used to interact with the local Notes/Reminders apps. The project is (IMHO) very well documented on RTD, with end-user documentation also available here and some pretty good test coverage (at least for the back-end).
Any contributions, feedback, constructive criticism and so on are greatly appreciated. This is my first publicly-released open-source app!

Every big tournament my friends and I play a game, where we bet on the specific score of every match in the tournament, trying to predict as many as possible. It adds a lot of fun to the atmosphere of the tournament. We used to collect points with excel, but it feels a bit out dated.

I am a newbie programmedev so I have an idea how to make games so..
I would like to tell some people here what it takes to give all players a free character. Game Devs would only create an email to be sent ingame and a QUERY to the database that says like this:
ADD CHARACTER 'Chararter name' to ALL PLAYERS
and that's it. Not so much effort to be called generous.
They may lose POTENTIAL profit but the keyword there is potential. It is comparable to imaginary.
CREATING ENJOYABLE CONTENT is what you must call generosity. CONTENT takes a lot of effort to make. Devs would need to create the ASSETS, the FUNCTIONS on how the ASSETS would move/interact with other assets and the ENVIRONMENT where the assets would interact with each other. And that takes months to create. After all, content consist of thousands or even millions of lines of code(depending on the size of the content).
Not to mention, the ideas of the creative minds. Ideas didn't sprout everywhere. Those ideas also need to be flesh out, add details into it etc. This would be before the coding part.
Stop being grateful for the wrong things. You are creating a habit that would not be good in the future of gaming industry. Instead, thank the DEVS after a major update because they exert so much effort to create it. Just insert a message of gratitude on a survey or something. It might not reach the Devs, but when it did, i assure you that it would bring smiles on their faces. Few words that would make a wonderful day to the creator of the game you are enjoying. Thank them, especially the small indie developers
