The weirdest and the best names in all of music #4

2024.06.01 15:00 EveryMix4008 The weirdest and the best names in all of music #4

Well well, look what we have, more bands with bizarre names. Will this ever end? Maybe not. But anyway, part 4 of the weirdest and the best names in all of music. Here they are:
Sweet Children (better known today as Green Day)
Rainbow Kitten Surprise (this name doesn't fit with their sound)
Finger Eleven (previously: Rainbow Butt Monkeys. Another atrocious name)
Live (a name impossible to search on Google)
Infant Annihilator (of course it's a metal band)
The Academy Is... (... is what?)
Men I Trust (show me how you trust them)
Cat Rapes Dog (oh... oh no...)
Rectal Smegma (ew)
Let's Eat Grandma (commas matter)
Slightly Stoopid (perfectly fits them)
Throbbing Gristle (ouch)
Cherry Poppin' Daddies (nice)
Dying Fetus (on the same vein as Infant Annihilator)
Fat Freddy's Drop (don't be mad at me kiwis)
3 (not 1, not 2, but 3)
3.2 (3 and something else)
Five Finger Death Punch (eh...)
Disco-Tex & His Sex-O-Lettes (bruh)
Excrementory Grindfuckers (no words)
OGRE YOU ASSHOLE (don't disrespect shrek like that)
Car Seat Headrest (great thing to name your band after)
Neutral Milk Hotel (what does that mean?)
Brand New (brand new bad name)
Krasnoznamyonnaya Diviziya Imeni Moej Babushki (Russian indie band. Good luck pronouncing that name)
Handsome Dick Manitoba (fabulous)
Big Dick (it's not mine)
Soccer Mommy (volleyball daddy)
Begging For Incest (German metal band)
The Child Molesters (you could've chosen any other name!)
Bhad Bhabie (cash me outside, how about that?)
I'm from Barcelona (they're from Sweden)
Well that's enough bizarre names for today. Part 5 soon. Thanks for reading!

2024.06.01 14:00 AnActualCriminal EON Polls/Discussion; Worlds, War Crimes, and Gods (Kind of a serious /uw one at the end)

EON Polls/Discussion; Worlds, War Crimes, and Gods (Kind of a serious /uw one at the end)
EON
Hello. Blake here. Not really a politician but since Ithacar holds the seat and not Riva and she had business to attend to, I'm filling in. If you were unaware of this, our bylaws do allow trade-outs like that. Bombast could, for example, cede the floor to Mastadon as rep of the Council lands and John Hellfire could cede the floor to... Ith'Raal I guess. The Agent is also currently filling in for the Herald in the Mercenary Guild (read: fictional character trade-offs are of course, also acceptable).

#1. The Demi-plane:

Now that I've explained my presence, on to business. We have two main items to discuss.
We had a draw in the vote between the Ocean and Dreamscape demi-planes as locations to build our meeting hall/fortress. Jungle is out and we're having a runoff.
Aside from personal or aesthetic tastes, Bombast, our resident expert on demi-planes and the person who provided these options, personally recommends the Dreamscape, while Guardian Logos of the Astral Assembly, who has been particularly active in suggestions for construction, speculates that we could use the ambient lightning of the Ocean plane's forever-storms to power the facility.
Water World?
Both realms are cool as fuck. I mean interesting choices. Poll here:
( Link to Demi-Plane Vote ) - 24 Hours

#2. Humanitarian Aid:

due to it being a particularly divisive issue, the poll for whether EO N will interfere in affairs as a singular force was left open for a whole week. If you haven't voted, here's me reminding you it's still open. Poll Here:
( Humanitarian Aid Link ) - 3 Days Left
Divine Intervention?

#3. On the Issue of Gods:

How much power do we want literal deities to have over our organization? This will be the focus of discussion today. This matter was always on the itinerary and actually came up in our very first meeting, but it is becoming increasingly apparent that this needs to happen sooner rather than later.
(I ask that everyone please try to remain calm and polite and consider feelings of the person you're talking to.)
uw/ Alright. This one can kind of only be talked about in uw because so many things related to this are meta. It's divisive for out of character reasons whereas #2 is divisive for in character reasons and if we don't square this away quickly, it'll lead to more grief for everyone. So let's get this resolved now in an open and productive way so that from here on out, we can just tap the sign. I'll try to present both sides here as best I can.
AGAINST: The EON Compact was created primarily for collaborative worldbuilders, people who want a little more involved wizard politics than what the council offers, and people who want to have interactions with their (hopefully) in-character foes in a way that isn't Wizard War #145.
Im going to use a comment by Aldin here as an example. This is not to pick on him. I respect very much what he does in this community, his writing, and the support he was trying to show. I especially enjoy his tournaments and how they've brought people together. I really want to stress here its not a callout. In fact I chose this comment specifically because it is a great example that was resolved in character with no drama, so we can look at it with clear heads.
( EXAMPLE CASE )
In the collaborative construction of the Fortress, we all get to contribute little details that later become established lore for everyone to interact with. If a god comes in and simply provides a fortress that cannot be harmed by anything and solves all of our problems, the collective game we all showed up to play is now over and only one person got to contribute.
If a god simply wills a civilization, fully-formed and populated, into being, they will technically qualify as members, but many would consider that to be violating the spirit of what we're doing here. Finally, if a god is so strong that the entirety of the EON Compact could never subdue them, then functionally they get to propose in-character rules that only they can get away with not following.
FOR: There is also an argument to be made for allowing gods into EON. It is brief, but it is important. Turning people away is generally considered to be rude. It's not a very nice thing to do and creates a rift in the community.
We are, after all, each here to pretend to be silly wizards. Or serious wizards. Or both. But the point is, as passionate as I am about EON and as much as I want it to succeed, it is still worthwhile to take a step back, consider everyone's feelings, and acknowledge that this sub is supposed to be a fun and inclusive wizard zone.
So, do we allow gods to be participating members of EON? I'm proposing two options for the god dilemma.
  • 1. No (But maybe someone can host a party with the gods and EON invited so EON and the gods can still RP together in the spirit of goodwill)
  • 2. Yes (None of those concerns really bothered me)
We'll start here as groundwork and if someone feels it necessary to add nuance later, we can. But we need a clear yes/no to build off of to start. Anyway here's the god poll:
( Link to god vote ) - 48 Hours
Thank you for reading all of that, if you did so. We can get back to fun silly wizard politics as God intended once this is squared away.

2024.06.01 09:11 PutridOrchid5221 cat pooping on bed

Hello! Hoping to get some advice on toilet issues.
Since we got our 1 year old, she has been leaving poop pebbles around the house, mostly on the bed or next to the bed. Shes had trouble with constipation in the past. We went to the vet approx a month ago for this pebble issue & they gave us a laxative to see if it would solve itself. We found that she was pooping more solidly and less in balls in her litter box however is still leaving nuggets around the house and frequently on the bed. I have also watched her poop multiple times on the bed in front of me. I thought that maybe she’s trying to tell us she’s anxious as she’s our only pet & myself and my partner are both gone for 8 hours during the week.
I think I’ve done all I can for her (unfortunately another cat isn’t an option). She has a cat tree, window seat, multiple hanging toys, sensory toys, solo play toys, Feliway diffuser, I leave the tv on when we’re gone & play with her when we get home/ let her run the apartments hallway. Shes on a diet of tiki cat wet & Royal canin dental dry (quarter cup twice a day as suggested by vet, half of what we used to give her), laxative & psyllium husk. Some BSH owners in the past have suggested Megacolon, however, our vet was not worried about this & I’m pretty certain the solution for that is a laxative anyways.
We’ve tried changing her litter which she didn’t like, ended up peeing on the bed so went back to her original one. We upgraded her litterbox to a bigger one. We have always used liners & started removing them but nothings changed.
She’s done it 4 times in the past month on the bed so we’ll likely be back at the vet soon but thought I’d ask around to see if anyone has had a similar experience. Thanks in advance for any advice!

As someone who frequently uses skeet mobil chokes, I've recently come across the Iver Johnson choke tube for 20-gauge shotguns. This choke tube comes with a sleek, modern design that perfectly suits my needs.
The Mobil choke style threads on this choke tube make it quick and easy to attach to my shotgun. This feature allows for easy installation and removal without any hassle. The extended flush design works seamlessly with my shotgun, providing a snug fit and enhanced performance. I am quite impressed with the 20-gauge gauge, which is perfect for my skeet shooting needs.
While I've had a great experience with this Iver Johnson choke tube, I must admit that it can be a bit tough to remove sometimes. However, the trade-off for the secure fit is worth it in my opinion. If you're looking for a high-performance choke tube for your 20-gauge shotgun, you can't go wrong with this Iver Johnson Skeet mobil choke.

Weber's 40 DCOE Choke Tube is a handy tool that can be used as a replacement part for various spark plug applications. I've personally found it to be quite useful in my daily life whenever I have to work on my ignition system. The 36mm size ensures a snug fit, and it's easy to install.
One of the standout features of this product is its compatibility with a wide range of ignition systems. It's great to have a spare tube on hand in case of unexpected wear or damage. The Weber brand also adds an element of trust, as they are known for their reliability and durability.
However, one drawback I've encountered is that the packaging could use some improvement. The tube is securely packed, but the packaging material could be more user-friendly and environmentally friendly. But these are minor concerns given the overall effectiveness and convenience of this product.
Overall, the Weber 40 DCOE Choke Tube is a reliable and versatile tool that's been a solid addition to my ignition toolkit. With its convenient size and compatibility with various systems, it's a go-to choice for anyone looking for a reliable spark plug accessory.

Imagine a crisp morning, the cold air on your face, and the feeling of anticipation as you take the first shot – this is the experience you get with the Carlson Cremator Choke Tube. As someone who loves testing high-quality hunting gear, I was eager to try this new addition to my arsenal. I installed the tube wrench-free and smooth, the promise of a perfect shot becoming more palpable.
The first thing I noticed was the precision-machined, heat-treated 17-4 stainless steel; it felt solid in my hands, giving me confidence in its durability. The. 725 diameter tube offered a more dense pattern, and the Triple Shot Technology made every shot count. However, I also noticed the reduction of flyers, which was a pleasant surprise.
Several times during the hunt, I found myself wishing for a little more range, but the 25% longer parallel section helped me to create tighter patterns and get those birds that others had missed. Although the product didn't come with a wrench, the wrench-less installation and quick removal was a game-changer for those on the move.
Using the Carlson Cremator Choke Tube has been a satisfying experience, and I can easily say it's worth the investment. With its precise machining and high-quality materials, it has become a reliable companion in my hunting adventures.

The Primos Jellyhead TSS Mobile. 410 choke tube has been a game-changer in my turkey hunting adventures. At first, I was skeptical about the hype surrounding the TSS load, but once I tried it out, I couldn't believe the difference it made in my hunting success.
The super-tight and evenly spread pattern of the TSS Jelly Head allowed me to land shots that I could have only dreamed of before. Installing and removing the choke tubes without any tools was a breeze, which made my life as a hunter a lot easier. I truly appreciate that the TSS choke tubes cater specifically to the TSS load, making my turkey hunting experience even more enjoyable.
Despite the incredible results I've seen, there is one aspect of the TSS Jelly Head that I think could use improvement. The extended length, while convenient, tends to snag on branches and other foliage more often than the flush-mounted ones. However, this inconvenience is outweighed by the benefits of the TSS load and the incredible accuracy that the Jelly Head provides.
Overall, the Primos TSS Jelly Head Choke Tubes are a must-have for any serious turkey hunter. Their accuracy and ease of use make them a worthy addition to any hunting arsenal.

🔗High-Quality Stoeger Condor Choke Tube Assembly for Better Performance

When I first heard about the V-Twin Manufacturing Choke Tube Assembly, I knew I had to give it a try. I'm always on the lookout for ways to enhance my Stoeger Condor shotgun's performance, and this seemed like just the ticket.
The installation process was a breeze, and I was impressed with how seamlessly it fit into my gun. The quality was top-notch, and it definitely met or even exceeded the OEM standards. I must say, the difference in the gun's performance was palpable. The gun felt smoother, and the shots were tighter and more controlled.
However, one downside that I noticed was that it made the gun a bit louder than it used to be. But all things considered, the benefits definitely outweighed the noise. Overall, I highly recommend this product for any Stoeger Condor user looking to bump up their gun's performance.

🔗Stoeger Condor Full Choke Tube with .590 Diameter

https://preview.redd.it/3isi9pcndw3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=54ab5399003fbe5e93a0e8b61ae309c79f482adf
I've been using Carlsons Choke Tube Flush for a while now, and it has certainly met my expectations. The full choke construction and the. 590 diameter proved to be quite reliable when using steel shot. It's been a game-changer for me, especially when going for long-range shots. The best part is that it's compatible with quite a few shotguns, including Stoeger Condor Tube.
Of course, there are always a few things I wish were different. For one, the steel and stainless design could use a little more durability. I've had some issues with it wearing out over time. Also, while the full choke does a good job with a wide range of shots, I've found that it could use a little more precision for the really tight shots.
But overall, despite those minor issues, I've had a great experience using Carlsons Choke Tube Flush in my daily life. It's a solid addition to any hunting arsenal, especially if you're looking for a reliable full choke that works well with steel shot.

🔗Iver Johnson 20ga. Extended Stainless Steel Choke Tube for Flush or Extended Thread Pattern

https://preview.redd.it/3flq38pndw3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=751156276d4549f6d88e11582c9d6a04243bb5b6
I recently gave Iver Johnson's Choke Tube 20ga a shot during my daily shooting practice. I was initially drawn to its sleek, extended stainless steel design and the improved cylinder mobil choke. It worked wonders on my Stoeger Condor.
The choke tube was incredibly easy to install, and I appreciated the MOBIL thread pattern that ensured a tight, secure fit. Not only did it offer a reliable performance, but it also allowed for great versatility, perfect for adjusting my shot pattern to fit different targets.
However, one downside I encountered was the choke tube's tendency to get quite hot, especially during extended shooting sessions. It might be worth considering a heat-resistant material for future designs. Overall, Iver Johnson's Choke Tube 20ga proved to be a game-changer for my Stoeger Condor, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to enhance their shooting experience.

🔗Turkey Hevi Shot Extended Choke Tube .410 Gauge

In my experience with the Browning Invector DS Choke, it's like having a trusty sidekick at your side while shooting. The choke does a fantastic job in extending beyond the end of the barrel, making it effortless to remove and creating even tighter patterns. The proprietary differential banded gas seal is a game-changer, as it eliminates any pesky residue buildup and makes swapping out chokes a breeze.

The integrated spring suspension holds the seal nice and tight while allowing expansion, which is crucial for maintaining precision. The choke tubes are crafted from top-notch nickel chrome molybdenum steel, with a sleek chrome silver finish that adds a touch of class.

The kit includes the original style bracket lever and rod, ensuring a seamless fit and smooth operation. Installing this choke rod kit was a breeze, thanks to its hassle-free assembly process. Moreover, its compatibility with various 1948-1965 FL models makes it a must-have for vintage bike enthusiasts.
However, the V-Twin Manufacturing Choke Rod Kit isn't without its minor drawbacks. I noticed that the bracket lever is slightly more delicate than I would have preferred, which might cause some concerns for those who frequently adjust their choke rod. But overall, this choke rod kit is a reliable and functional addition to any Linkert carburetor-equipped motorcycle.

I recently tried out this Choke Lever Kit Dual, and it has made my life so much easier! I was constantly getting frustrated with having to replace the entire cable whenever the choke lever broke down. But with this nifty kit, I no longer need to deal with that hassle.
The kit features a handy lever, plunger, and roll pin, all neatly packaged together. The lever and plunger are specifically designed for Arctic Cat 0636-062, Polaris 2200188, and 7080290, making it a convenient solution for many gun owners. For those using 410 Winchoke Choke Tube Sets, this is your ticket to hassle-free choke lever replacement!
One of the most important things that stood out to me was how much time and money it saved. Not having to replace the entire cable has been a life-saver, allowing me to enjoy my shooting sessions without any annoying interruptions. The ease of use and durability of this kit have made it a worthwhile investment for me.
However, like any product, there's always room for improvement. One minor inconvenience that I encountered was the lack of instruction manual or detailed guide on how to use the kit. I would have appreciated a guide to assist in the installation process. But overall, this Choke Lever Kit Dual proved to be a game-changer for me. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a hassle-free choice in choke lever replacement.

Hey i am 12th pass out this year I have two options to pursue my ug provided my end goal is to do mba from a top b school which of the following would you recommend, seniors?
1.) I am getting ggsipu btech from main campus ( fees is 60k a year around 4-5 lakh for whole course) and will pursue mba after that but my main concern here is after lurking on this sub I got to know that engineering male have a cut throatcompetitiony to get a seat in iim and I'm not getting cse so my package from just btech would be 3-4lpa which is not soo good
2.) Nirma's bba + mba ( fees is around 21 lakh in total) avg package is 13lpa I'll give cat after the third year if I get a better clg will leave nirma otherwise would continue. My family can afford ug fees of upto 10 lakhs but I want to go through a cheaper and more secure way. And fees will reduce if I'll be able to get a scholarship there.
I am also getting tapmi/nmims/symbiosis/nalsar ( scored 150 in ipmat this year will probably miss indore cutoff by 10-15 marks) but fees at these Institute are high and packages are same as nirma.
Please help I am in the state of delusion from last 3 days.

2024.06.01 03:54 TriBiscuit The Delivery - Power of Forgiveness Ficnap

This is my ficnapping of The Power of Forgiveness by u/Espazilious. If you're here and you haven't read it yet, (why?) do it now! Anyways, here it is.

//////////////////////////
Memory Transcription Subject: Dan Hayes, Human Resident of Venlil 4
////////
Date (standardized human time): January 24th, 2137
//////////////////////////
I woke unpeacefully, jolted awake by the doorbell going off. I stared at the ceiling for a good few moments, trying to banish the dreams that weren’t fading quickly enough and hoping whoever it was would go away. To the annoyance of my sleepy mind, the doorbell rang again.
I grumbled and yanked the blankets off me. Damn was it good to sleep in my own bed without an alien squeezing my lungs for hours. Speaking of, Sparci wasn’t in sight. The Farsul must have scampered off while I was still sleeping.
I groggily ambled around to the front door and unlocked it. Outside was a Venlil with an, admittedly, adorable little uniform. I looked down at the delivery person, having completely forgotten to put on my mask.
The poor sheep staggered backward as soon as they saw my face. There was also a box, markedly larger than I could comfortably carry. How the scrawny Venlil got it up here, I didn’t know. Nor did I really care.
“Hey, I almost forgot about this thing. Glad it's finally here, though,” I casually said. “You need me to sign anything?”
“U-Uh. Y-Yes. Please.” They raised their appendage with the holographic screen for me to see. I waved my finger around, signifying my identity with nought more than a single curvy line. They wouldn’t be able to tell the difference anyways.
“Thanks.” I put my hands on either side of the box and tugged, sliding the box into my humble dwelling. I pushed the door shut before the Venlil could do anything else and began to shove it further into the main living space.
“What is that?” Sparci pondered, suddenly emerging from off the couch. He must have been reading, or something, while I was still asleep. At least I don’t have to worry about him answering the door, I suppose.
“What does it look like?” I retorted.
“A box.”
“Amazing.”
“Well…” he pouted. “What’s inside of it?”
“Stuff.”
“What kind of stuff?”
“The stuff that I have to ship across the damn galaxy and pay way too fucking much on shipping fees. All this crap is only found on Earth.”
He stood still for a moment, thinking of what to say. I waited patiently.
“Can… Can I see?”
I quickly grabbed a knife. I sliced through the tape, then slowly drew my gaze to Sparci. “Are you sure you’re ready for this?”
“Of c—Wait, why do you say it like that?”
“Once you lay your eyes on what’s in this box, you may never be the same.”
There was a twitch of his ears. “Uhm… Okay?”
I slowly lifted the lid, pausing for dramatic effect. Unfortunately, Sparci wasn’t playing along with my foreboding box unfolding. He took a few steps forward to peek inside as I began to dig through it.
The first thing in the box I spotted was a reflective mesh in the shape of a bowl; the ideal tool to teach those damn wet noodles a lesson. Never again.
I fished it out of the box and handed it to Sparci. “Here.”
His ears perked up. “What is this?”
“A hat,” I deadpanned. “You can wear it, if you want.”
He studied me. It took all of my willpower to keep every muscle in my face straight, and by some divine power, I managed to do it by the time he took it from my hand. I quickly looked away, doing my very best to not imagine him wearing a strainer atop his head.
After pulling out some less interesting items, including some spaghetti sauce, Sparci spoke, “I thought it would be more. Um. Comfortable?”
I looked up. Oh lord, forgive me, and bless this poor innocent soul.
His poor ears were being smushed against his head by the dome of shiny metal lattice. The rim of the thing came to a rest right at the end of his snout, leaving his eyes partially hidden. At least he could see me, a little. Overall, he looked exactly as I expected an alien wearing a strainer to look.
“Yeah,” I forced a laugh back into my throat. “Works better on a human, I think.”
He took it off and gave it back to me. “I want to see.”
I spun it around in my hands, contemplating his words. It would only be fair. In a decidedly smooth motion, I flipped it onto my head, feeling the metal scratch against my scalp. He studied me, hopefully in awe, but realistically in confusion.
In a strange burst of compulsion, I tipped the rim at Sparci. “M’lady.”
“What?”
Immediate regret. “Nothing.”
“Is that a human greeting?”
No. And don’t ever repeat what I just said. Ever.”
His ears pulled back in what I guessed to be fear, or maybe shock. “O-Okay.”
I quickly yanked the strainer off my head and threw it into the kitchen. I was aiming for the sink, but it came short and clattered to the floor in a mocking fashion.
“Anyways,” I resumed. “Let’s see what else I got.”
Before I could look back in the box, Sparci was already pointing inside of it. “What are those?”
He was motioning towards a brightly colored package full of sugary treats. “Those are gummy b-” I stopped myself. Would it be wrong to lie about what the shapes represented? Would it be worth it to see if he liked them? The answer to both questions was, undoubtedly, yes.
“They’re gummy candies,” I continued, reaching for the package. “You wanna try one?”
“Yes. Please.”
I ripped open the package and handed him a small yellow bear; the worst flavor. He took it, and while I popped a green one into my mouth he spun it around in his paw.
“What is it supposed to look like? It’s almost like a Zurulian.”
I frowned, realizing I was worried about the wrong thing. “Um. These have existed for far longer than we’ve been spacefaring, so that’s just a coincidence.”
“But that still doesn’t answer my question.”
Damnit. How do I explain this to him? A predator eating a candy version of another predator. That’s about as bad as it can get for these aliens.
“I dunno,” I said. “People just make weird stuff sometimes. Give it a try.”
He gingerly placed it into his mouth and began to chew. He eventually swallowed it, without much reaction.
“No reaction at all?”
“Sugar,” he admitted.
“Yeah, fair enough.” I put the gummy bears on the counter and began to dig through the box again. My eyes fell upon something I had forgotten I’d been looking forward to. “Alright, I think you’re gonna like this next thing I got.”
“Hm. What is it?”
I twisted the lid off and pulled off the seal, exposing the hopefully creamy peanut butter. I paid extra for this, so it better be worth it. I noisily dug out a spoon from the drawer and stuck it into the semisolid, pulling out a nice dollop of it. As I offered it to Sparci, I had to forcibly stop myself from simply wiping it on his nose and letting him deal with the aftermath.
He gingerly took the spoon from me, giving it a sniff. “It smells… interesting.”
“I did a quick look-through on any dietary limits… mainly allergies. You should be good to go but… maybe just take a tiny lick for now.” When his ears folded in that special way, I quickly added, “It’s nothing to worry about, really.”
He stuck his tongue out the tiniest amount, taking just a drop of it into his mouth. His ears twitched, and in the time I could blink he shoved the entire spoon into his mouth.
“Itsh shticky in my mouf.”
I let out a small chortle, to my own disbelief. “Yeah, it, uh, tends to be that way. I take it you like it?” It was a dumb question, but it would make him talk with his mouth full again.
Instead, he nodded, foiling my plan. When did he learn to do that?
“You can put the spoon in the sink. When you’re done, I mean.”
He pulled it out of his mouth, completely spotless. “Can I haf shum more?”
I twisted the cap back onto the jar with vehemence. “Hell no. Do you know what this is? This is Extra Deluxe Creamy. With shipping, that’s at least six times what normal peanut butter costs. Go get your own.”
“Meow?”
“It’s less cute when your mouth is full of peanut butter,” I lied. “Try again later.”
To say he looked crestfallen would be a massive understatement. I set the jar on the counter, and made a mental note to hide it on the top shelf of a cabinet. The sneaky shit was bound to try and find it at some point.
When I got back to the box, Sparci was looking into it. He pointed at something. “What are those?”
I took out what he was referring to. “Socks.”
Sawwcks,” he repeated. “You wear them?”
“Yeah. I need socks for my shoes and shoes for my feet. It stops me from doing that,” I gestured at the small trail of paw marks leading from the front door he’d left after the storm.
He coyly lowered his ears. “S-Sorry.”
“Whatever.” I took the package of socks and threw them into my room. I had no idea where they landed. Had to keep things entertaining for my future self, of course.
I shuffled through the rest of the box, mostly innocuous items that were apparently the most interesting thing in the world according to Sparci.
After many questions and explanations and objects thrown into my room, I finally got to what I had really been looking forward to.
“Alright, these last few things I got specifically for you.”
He dropped the pair of sunglasses he was trying to fit on his face and scurried over to me. I reached into the box and pulled out the two books. I gave them a quick look-through before giving them both to Sparci.
His expression changed several times. “What…?”
“Coloring books.”
He began to look through one of them, tail flicking with eagerness. “I recognize some of these…”
“They’re both full of animals you would find on Earth.”
He was already flipping through the second book. “There’s so many!”
I smiled. “Well, I sure hope so. There aren’t many dogs or cats, or raccoons for that matter, but I think the variety makes up for it. Oh, and don’t forget these.” I reached for the last item in the box, a 48-pack of not-so-cheap markers, and gave them to him.
His eyes sparkled as he took it into his paws, flicking over each color. “These are…”
“Better than crayons,” I finished. “And I rightfully paid for them, so you don’t need to worry about that. Oh, and I hope they aren’t too… childish? The last time I touched a coloring book was… well, I guess I don’t know, but I figured one from an alien planet would be interesting.”
His eyes looked back and forth between the books and the markers, as if he couldn’t decide which one was better.
“…do you want to go color?”
“Mhm!”
He took off. It was good to see him move so enthusiastically. What he revealed to me the night before still weighed on my mind, and he was the one that had to live through it. But now wasn’t the time to think about that. It was time for the Happy, and damn if I wasn’t going to get it.
I joined him at the table as he was flipping through pages, trying to make a choice. He managed to pick a sea turtle. Or perhaps “choose” was a strong word, as he took on a more confused expression.
“What is it?” I asked.
“I just realized I don’t know what color to pick.”
“Oh. Well, I guess I could search up a picture or a video of one. Or maybe you could color it what you think is right, and we can compare after.”
“Hmmm. The second option. But can you tell me what kind of animal this is? It doesn’t look like any of the ones from your videos.”
“It’s a sea turtle. They’re reptiles, and they spend most of their time in the ocean.”
His ears drooped. “The… ocean.”
Oh. Of course. The Archives.
“There’s plenty of kinds of turtles that live in freshwater, like rivers and lakes. If you want to color it, do it. Nothing else should matter.”
“I… guess you’re right.” He thought for a long moment before his gaze settled back on me. “Do you… want to color something?”
“Sure. Why not.”
He passed the other book to me and began to dig through the markers. He settled on orange, which I of course would not weigh in on. If anything, I was curious what he thought a turtle might look like. Plus, I would get to see what his reaction would be to seeing how the real thing compared to his colors.
I decided to pick a random color and flip to a random page. Filling in a bunch of smaller shapes to create one larger shape wasn’t exactly the most exciting thing. Although, an alien coloring book would certainly be more interesting. Maybe I should’ve looked into getting a coloring book from one of the local stores. What would aliens decide worthy of coloring?
My random choice left me creating a grass green moose. Earth grass, that is. Not some weird purple alien stuff from God knows where. Sparci was already diving into one of the turtle’s now orange flippers.
“You have any music on your pad you might wanna listen to?” I asked, the silence slowly becoming loud.
He stopped coloring and looked up at me, his brows furrowing and ears tilting back. “I’m, uh, not sure you would enjoy it.”
“You listened to me ramble on about Esoterica for a good two hours. I can at least repay the favor. Plus, I’d like to think that I’m pretty open to new music.”
He thought for another moment.

“Oh! This is another really good one!” Sparci’s ears wiggled and his tail picked up some speed as another track came on. He replaced his marker for a different color.
I still hadn’t finished my green moose, and he was already on his fourth page. The other three he removed from the book and laid out across the table to see. There was his orange and brown sea turtle, a blue elephant with a cyan trunk, a school of fish colored to create a rainbow across the page, and was now working on a fairly normal looking cheetah.
“So how long ago did this one come out?” I queried.
He didn’t look up from his page. “This specific one came out around thirty years ago, but it’s a remix. The original came out about eight years before that. I can find the original if you want, but I prefer the remix, not that it’s worse, but I think the different bassline and effects they added make it just a little more to my taste. Oh, and they also replaced one of the verses with a new portion by a different singer, and it’s a lot catchier, and they manage to do that all while keeping the feeling of the song the same.”
I nodded along to the quick beat, but the translator left something to be desired. The lyrics talked about the incredulous nature of giving a ground mammal wings to fly, or something. The instrumentals were catchy enough, a blend of strings and synths. It was almost like listening to a foreign pop song.
“It sounds… kinda similar to something. Is-”
“It’s part of the same album as Teleport, so also the same artist. But like I said, it’s also a remix.”
“Ah, that explains it.”
I still couldn’t get over just how much he could talk when he was prompted with a set of ears and something he liked. And that wasn’t even mentioning that he had talked for nearly seven hours straight the moment he got his pad’s data back. Getting that worked out was probably the best thing that anyone could have done for him. It was good to see him like this. Enjoying himself.
I finished up the final details on my green moose. By stroke of my random color choice, it had bright red antlers, even though I wasn’t exactly going for a holiday theme.
I spun the book around to Sparci. “What do you think? Is it fridge-worthy?”
He slowly pulled his head up even as his eyes lingered on his page. Once he finally finished filling in the shape, he looked over my page. He stopped wagging his tail to the beat of the song. “What is that?”
“A moose.”
His ear twitched. “That’s what it looks like?”
“Hey, I didn’t judge your coloring.”
“That looks nothing like the other animals I’ve seen.”
“What did you expect? I chose random colors.”
The other ear twitched. “But aren’t you supposed to know what they look like?”
“First of all, that’s very prejudiced of you. Secondly, it was a lot more fun this way. Here, I’ll show you what an actual moose looks like.”
I pulled out my pad and quickly looked for a picture. A moment later, I had it pulled up and Sparci was looking at the animal with awe.
“That one’s brown,” he commented.
“Correct.”
“Its head things are big.”
“Yep. I should also mention that they’re huge. Like, as tall as I am, and about five times as heavy.”
His eyes went wide. “How big is its body!?”
I resisted the strong urge to slap my forehead. “No, it’s body is as tall as I am. Its antlers put it a little bit higher.”
His shock died down slightly. “Oh. That’s still huge.”
“Wait until you learn about the elephant you colored.”
His eyes darted between his colorings. “Wha…?”
I stuffed my pad away. “Welp. I think I’m done coloring. And I’m also hungry. You want some questionable fruit goop oatmeal?”
He perked a single ear. “Uhm. Yes. Please.”
I got up from my seat and shuffled into the kitchen, picking up the strainer off the floor. I put away the rest of the things, making damn sure the peanut butter was tucked away in the corner of the highest shelf of a cabinet.
I was reaching for the oatmeal when I noticed the music had paused. I looked over, seeing Sparci standing in the kitchen.
“Do you want me to show you an elephant?” I guessed.
“No. I mean, yes, but… I…” His tail twitched restlessly.
I patiently waited.
He took a breath. “Thank you. For, um, everything.”
I shrugged. “You’re welcome. But you’ll have to thank me again soon, because this oatmeal is going to be fire.”
“You… You didn’t have to do this.”
I shrugged again, setting a pot on the stove. “I was just ordering some normal stuff, and had the thought to get a pair of coloring books. It’s not that big of a deal.”
His tail curled around his leg. “But, everything else.”
I guessed even little things could mean the absolute world to someone when they were coming back from what Sparci had gone through. Was still going through.
I sighed. “Yeah. You’re welcome for everything else, too. Thanks for sharing the music. It’s, uh, definitely alien music.” Is that even a compliment?
He seemed to hesitate for a second before coming further into the kitchen towards me. His arms parted slightly, and before I knew it he had them wrapped around me. I mirrored the motion, placing my hands on his back and gently rubbing.
There was something ever so slightly different in him at that moment, as if he was more sure of how he leaned into the hug. His warmth slowly seeped into me, starkly contrasting how cold he had been when I carried him from that alley, broken and bruised.
“Thank you,” I heard him whisper.
I simply rubbed his back and let him pull away on his own. I hadn’t even realized how quiet it was without the music.
I cleared my throat. “Alright, lemme get this oatmeal going before you get hair everywhere.”

A/N: Oh my goodness, give this poor boy everything I have. He deserves the world. Strainers, peanut butter, my soul, whatever. And, of course, some coloring books and a good playlist to share.
Thanks to for organizing yet another ficnapping! Anyways, I hope you enjoyed it! Thank you for reading!

Season 4, after Angela dumps Dwight for mercy killing her cat, they have to throw a launch party for Ryan's new website. Angela's freaking out on Phyllis because the sign says lunch party. Michael steps in the middle of it and says to Angela: Okay, easy booster seat, nobody cares.
😂 Great line lol.
This show is such a rich tapestry of put-downs.

The journey's end, some 4000km and 4 Mount Everests later...
I could hardly sleep I was so nervous to get started, waking as if I was going to the airport. It got very cold overnight, bringing us full circle to the cold wet nights at the start of our trip. Taking a little while to snuggle one last time in the tent, we got up and packed up our gear for one last big ride.
We started in full gear, minus our rain pants. My leggings are totally torn to shreds from riding in, the stitching never meant to accomodate my legs as they are now and the thousands of cycles of long distance riding. They held for the hour or so that I needed them. The first hour of our ride had some low rolling hills that served to keep us warm in the humid 6 degree weather, though the sun was beginning to peek through the clouds. As promised, our start before 6am proved to be windless, an absolute necessity for the route we were taking for the day.
On the coast to Wakkanai there was only one town of a size necessary to have a convenience store, teshio. After an hour we arrived to have our bathroom break and get ourselves prepped for the long stretch between here and Wakkanai, some 75km with no services or support. I was nervous as a breakdown would necessitate flagging a passing truck, there didn't seem to be any transit that ran through here. We picked this way because it was flat and flat means distance. I wanted to beat Bryce's personal best because... Well I suppose if you've ever done solo sports you'd understand. Just because. Felt like a feather in the cap of an otherwise exemplary trip. Why not finish things off with a bang?
North of teshio we got on the highway that would take us on the narrow strip of land that ran between the coastline and the vast swamps that dominate the landscape here. Most of the stripnwas part of the national park that was shared with the series of volcanic islands off the coast to our left. Rishiri towered over the ocean around, a true lonely mountain stabbed out of the ocean like a spear. All around, flatlands just couldn't compete for the eyes like the snow-streaked mountain island. We thought about maybe taking a ferry there from Wakkanai, but we've been to enough places for now.
As we turned north onto the sunset highway, we saw a long, straight line of wind turbines standing guard on the coast, silent. We were surprised at the quality of the road and the degree of infrastructure used to create it, some areas having dozens of kilometers of storm drainage embedded into the road. Why have advanced features when the only residents of the area are wind turbine and migratory birds? Further on, the 60 km stretch of deserted highway even had deployable windscreens, a very expensive and resource heavy means of ensuring the road remains navigable by tall vehicles during heavy winds. There are parallel ways to Wakkanai, and no towns are on this road, why make it so robust?
We cycled on and on, the scenery never changing aside from Rishiri slowly moving backwards in our view. Sometimes there were more wind turbines, sometimes none. Always on our left between us and the water was irregular lumpy hills, and to the right, gravel pit mines. We've seen these odd hills to the left before, looking like peaks in merengue topped with grasses. My best guess is that the highway was built to specification but the ditches to either side were left with less than specific instruction. Why smooth out the dirt if you weren't told to? So now there are endless rows of strange looking hills, all different shapes, looking like a collosal dirt bike track. I'm sure some people use them as such. The gravel pit mines to our right was a typical scene in the so called parks, 60km of land dug out to make concrete to fill the coastline. Maybe the highway was so nice just because endless trucks went back and forth to bring the vast quantities of extracted gravel from the area to other places. The gravel strip had its topsoil scraped off and pushed further to our right, obstructing any view of the land beyond. This we were corralled in a very regular column of sea, hills, ditch, road, gravel pits, hills. On and on, for hours.
We took turns leading, switching every 10km. We stopped for food and drinks and bathroom breaks, feeling like every stop was identival to the last. The sun rose higher and the clouds parted, leaving us with the slightly uncomfortable temperature differential of a cold windy front and a hot sweaty back. Difficult to dress for that, but biking shorts and a sweater seemed to do the trick.
All the while I was keeping my eye on the northern coastline. At some point, we would be able to see Sakhalin, and likely the only time I will see Russia. Until the regime changes and the society becomes more safe for people like me, view from afar is the best I can do. Still, the island is a hotbed of geopolitical historical drama and to see any region of Russia's almost mythical Far East is a treat that only I will boast in my circles.
Finally, some 80km in, the highway changes and we go up and over a small hill and begin rolling down an unmodified coastline towards cape noshappu. We passed through Bakkai, a fishing village that clings to existence like lichen on an arctic rock. Only a few buildings still look occupied, the rest rusting or dry-rotting husks slowly falling apart in the cold salty air. A weather-beaten man with leathery skin waved to us from piles of junk, I wonder what he was up to. A broad-leafed plant reminiscent of rhubarb dominates the landscape here, we surmised it must be invasive as it truly is growing in every crevice of the landscape.
More north and the odd block house planted on the flat land by the coast turns into several, as we enter the community of noshappu near the cape. We see an active school, the first we've seen in days. Everything south of here is shut down, not enough children to run schools. As we approach the cape, massive green installations come into view on the high hills overlooking the cape, great spheres and cylinders all painted in matte shades of green. Military. That explains the overly built highway, this huge installation of dozens of communication and radar facilities must be accessible no matter what weather is occuring. Just to deploy the windscreens installed on that much highway would take... Well it would take an army. Barracks to permanently host hundreds and hundreds of personnel were along the highway, all in the same green. How many more were up in the hills I have no idea.
We tried not to hit too many potholes as we rubbernecked at the giant green shapes on the hill and cracked jokes about keeping an eye on the "ruskies". Before long we were at cape noshappu and it was time for a break. We gazed long at Rishiri and here we caught our first glimpse of Sakhalin, the oft-fought over sliver of the north. A monument nearby told the story of the hundreds of thousands of Ainu who were forcibly removed and evacuated ahead of the red Army's advance in WW2. The island traded hands many times over hundreds of years, falling into the domination of China, Japan, and Russia at different times, but always were the indigenous people treated as an extractable commodity. No ruling nation deserves the place after how the locals were treated. A sad story all around.
Rolling the short distance into Wakkanai proper, we stopped for a light light at a ramen restaurant. We got the local shio ramen, which is a very light broth flavoured with salt (hence shio-salt). The noodles were tasty, and it was served with slices of what seemed to be roast beef. It wasn't very filling, but we didn't want to be full, we needed quick energy as we still had over 60km to go. We took a bit longer to stop at a Seicomart for some energy gels and sports drinks. Willing our bodies to keep going after riding for 100km before 11am, we pressed on.
Wakkanai is a very long city, most of it twenty times longer than it is wide, so it felt like we were riding through a good sized city as we took the main road to the east side of town. We were impressed though at the size of the place, all the usual trappings of a Japanese city, except far far removed from any other. The nearest city of comparable size is 250km away, a truly vast spread for a country where you can't seem to throw a rock and not hit a city if the land is flat. What anchors so many here? Maybe the train line, maybe fishing fleets?
We saw many structures for drying fish along the way, scaffolding for nothing besides the carcasses of innumerable brown fish drying in the cold sun. Windy, chilly, and relatively dry air makes for good drying I suppose. East of Wakkanai the road gently curved around to the north and we struggled a little bit against the relatively light wind from that direction that had picked up. After 12km we stopped at another Seicomart as my body was rebelling a bit and I wanted a bathroom break, a stretch and a chocolate bar to keep going. I scarfed an energy gel and told myself we were almost there, we only needed to go another 12km to the cape. The 30km back, well, that was future problem to figure out.
Gritting my teeth and pushing into the wind, we made good speed through the north facing section and began the looping coastline of the far north reaches of Japan. This being our fifth day in the saddle meant for sore backs, and sore butts. I expected to be a bit giddy at the sight of the last landscapes of our long ride and I was correct in my prediction. One more turn and the cape came into view, the modest triangular monument unmistakable after seeing one just like it three months ago.
I rolled into the parking lot at the cape, my body fizzing slightly. It's done! Finally, the long journey is over. We parked our bikes, took out photos, and had a seat on a nearby beach to have some more fuel. Bryce brought some fireworks that we lit off, making a small nuisance. Someone on a different beach was doing the same, and fireworks on the beach is perfectly legal here, so we enjoyed our little celebration. This was a hard journey, hard in a way I've not experienced because there was no sunk cost to it, we could stop at any time and no change would occur to my life circumstances. Why do this? I suppose it's proof that I can do what is necessary, that I can be resourceful.
I've spent the last five years of my life grappling with various levels of mental distress, ranging from somewhat impaired functionality to a loss of independence that shredded my confidence and led me to constantly make contingencies in case I would falter. The temporary but terrifying lapses in muscle control and the mental storm that accompanied it forced me to build my life with a monster always hiding in a shadow, the what-if preventing me from commiting to responsibilities I used to take in stride. I had to change my career, then change again. Instead of being the person with a five year trajectory, I lived hour to hour, any further plans totally contingent on the day's storm of unpredictable emotions, mood swings, and biochemical fluxes that tormented me.
This trip was a frivolous pipe dream that started as silly pillow-talk, but my unstable mind latched onto it as a buoy, a concrete goal depending on no outside system but my own ability to map out a plan from the delicate, touch and go person I was to the resourceful, able, person I am now. Maybe I would have gotten here anyways, but it was always easier to say "I need to focus on therapy so I can plan out the japan trip" or "Get back on the bike, it's a training day, no matter how depressed you feel. You don't want to suffer in Japan, right?". It feels a bit silly, writing that an international flight to another country would be my beacon to guide me out of a mental storm, that seems like an impossibly contrite and entitled thing. But I suppose everyone has something to latch onto and travelling somewhere to see a different world has been that thing I've dreamed of for a very long time.
That's not to say that I feel cured of my problems, that biking has been a panacea, far from it. I had meltdowns, I flipped out, I had to walk back things I said. Relationships always fray when you're in tight quarters and not having fun and my mental state did not stay lucid at all points. Bryce had to deal with the fragments of me that rule when I'm sufficiently roughed up, the younger and less formed parts of me that rise to the surface with their own goals and motivations. A fractured mind is forever a mosaic, whether or not one wants to acknowledge the gaps between the personalities that emerge from the traumatic process. But what the trip provided (and truly what the point of three months abroad was) was a time to quietly listen and soothe the fractures, to hear the discordant patterns that emerge during times of stress and spend hours, hours and hours on the bike, slowly rehearsing what those fragments needed to hear. I have enough strength to get there. People will help us if we crash. Our bikes will make it if we're careful. We've done all the maintenance we can. I am capable, I am strong, I have compassion for my fear and face it willingly. On and on and on. A chorus of anxious, frittering patterns, all fighting to be heard and satisfied. All I had on the empty highways was time and no ability to distract myself except looking and yelling nonsense at Bryce from time to time.
It took two months for my mind to quiet enough to finally get to the point that I had nothing left to analyze, nothing more to look at and figure out. All the odd shaped buildings, river embankments, mountains, whatever. Future plans, things I want in my life, things I don't want in my life, whatever. After that, when all the shuffled cards are finally in a deck, then I could play the quiet game of solitaire that is self directed mental therapy and make some progress. We'll see how much it amounts to, but my hope is that if I can maintain stability while sleeping in a tent and biking beyond my skill level for months on end, then when I have my bedroom back and can control my diet more effectively that I should find the bumps of life far less troublesome.
Besides, I just biked across an entire country, what better proof to throw at my more negative fractions when I have the doubts as to the next harebrained scheme I come up with?
After dusting ourselves off, we rode back to Wakkanai, the wind at our back and the last 30km fairly easy. We both felt a little less than lucid as we rolled into town, our muscles capable of more but our minds satisfied with the extension of our personal bests. I can remember a year ago when a third of this distance was a huge challenge to me, now to complete three times that and not feel totally destroyed was amazing. Bryce too, who previously had to rent a carbon fibre bike and ride a proscribed track to get near these distances, now easy exceeded it with room to spare. What an accomplishment of the body.
Our final tally was nearly 4000km and 35000m of elevation, four times the height of Mount Everest. My projections on distance and elevation were totally wrong and I'm happy they were, these are much more impressive sounding numbers.
We ate Nepalese food in a daze and hauled ourselves through a grocery store to get snacks and food for the train the next day. A big grin on both of our faces as we knew we didn't have to bike anymore, the quest completed. Good grief! What a lot of biking! We took our places on our hotel bed an snacked ourselves into oblivion, resolving to get up and pack before we got on the train.

2024.06.01 02:30 Few_Confection_8191 Review of Sama Nete (Ayahuasca with Celinda)

Last year (21 August to 4 October 2023) I did a retreat at “Ayahuasca with Celinda” which was recently renamed to Sama Nete. I’ve tried to cover the practical aspects in my review, but if you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me :) (however I'll be heading off to this retreat again in a few days! So I might not be able to reply until I'm back in a month or so)
This review based on my time and my observations at this retreat. I’ve tried to keep most of this factual, however it is also just my opinion at the end of the day.
Cost:
It cost me $1750USD per month (this may be subject to change as they enhance their facilities).
Getting there:
The retreat is located in San Francisco, Peru. I flew into Pucallpa airport and the facilitator (Nathan) met me at the airport. The drive in the taxi on the “roads” was more intense than any 4WD-ing I’ve ever done, which I enjoyed a lot, but maybe some people won’t like it. I can see how it could make some people nauseated.
Your room:
Accommodation is rustic (i.e. bats, bugs, spiders, etc live in the “ceiling” which is made from leaves), but clean.
They are still in the process of furnishing rooms, so each room’s contents varied slightly. All rooms (as at October 2023) had at a minimum:
My room had the minimum, however other rooms had some additional things such as:
Hammock Shelves Cupboard Bench seat Little logs for stools
Facilities:
My understanding is that because they’re a new retreat, they’re enhancing their facilities with each guest, so this is just based on when I was there (21 August to 4 October 2023):
You are in town BUT you are in the jungle. There are spiders and bugs that will come to visit you. I went into this trip with a genuine phobia of spiders and a fairly dramatic fear of certain insects like bees, wasps, centipedes etc. My comfort levels have improved but I’m not free from fear – for example. I can now stay in the shower if a spider or scary insect comes to visit (I watch it the whole time lol but I don’t run out screaming).
Wild chickens wander the yard and they really brightened my days. However, the roosters cock-a-doodle-do all day and night which really bothered some other guests, I didn’t really mind though. What I did find a bit annoying/disruptive though was constant loud speaker announcements from the town, I think they were excessive during the time I was there because it was leading up to the celebrations for the anniversary of San Fransisco (the town). Sometimes you could smell burning rubbish (which mainly smells like burning plastic). And the other disruption was that there were a few interruptions to water being available for showers (we never ran out of drinking water), but this is not common, there was a problem with the town’s water while I was there.
The biggest issue for me was being bitten excessively by bugs. Some things that may bother other guests would be the constant noise (frequent announcements over speaker from town, lots of loud or gentle music (especially Saturday nights), dogs barking all night, roosters cock-a-doodle-dooing all night), quite a bit of light at night (I think a kitchen light is left on so people can find the toilets in the night), and of course the monotony of dieta food (but Nathan did a pretty good job at coming up with some creative variations like potato soup, boiled vs scrambled eggs, etc).
Meals:
You’re provided 3 meals a day on non-ceremony days and 2 meals (breakfast and lunch) on ceremony days
Meals consist of:
Whole small fish Unripe plantains Eggs Lentils Rice Carrots Potatoes Squash Celery and cabbage as a bit of a garnish Optional teas
Although the meals were bland and repetitive, I quite enjoyed them and the boiled medley of beetroot, carrot and celery was so delicious to me that I’ve made it since coming home lol. Personally it wasn’t until about week 4 that I got bored of the repetition but I also think that’s kind of the point, to become detached to the joy of waiting for your meal etc. TMI but I did have some constipation and Celinda had an oily concoction to remedy that which was effective for me :)
Ceremonies:
There are 3 ceremonies a week – Monday, Wednesday and Friday (drink once at the beginning, I’ve read about other retreats where you drink several times).
There was not a formal schedule for discussion after ceremonies, it was done ad hoc with each individual guest as needed (I mostly had ceremonies where I didn’t feel the need any interpretation). There also wasn’t any formal “pre-discussion” or sharing group to discuss your intentions, something else that I had read about for other retreats.
The dieta goes something like this:
Other notes:
Things I wish I had packed the first time:

2024.06.01 02:14 seliskar Maple doing Maple things

Maple doing Maple things
Luckily, Maple has stopped getting into things and chewing or eating random things! THANK GAWD! So now she's back to being sweet and cute. She even has one of my Peke's old plushies and hasn't done any damage to it (yet) in 48 hours!
Today she got her new elevated dog bed. Technically, it's a cat bed, but she's cat sized at 9 pounds! $13 on Amazon!!! We got it because since it's warmed up a bit here (73° in the house today), she's been laying on the floor a lot. We couldn't find my our old gel cooling mat, and when I looked online, they were way more expensive than I remember paying 5 years ago. So we decided on an elevated bed. This one was super cute and affordable. If it happens to fall apart or get wrecked easily, we'll try to find a nicer metal framed one. The ones I saw online were all way BIGGER than she'll ever need. Do they not make small dog elevated beds??? Or cat size ones?
I tried to get a photo of Maple "pointing" to where her balls are under the couch, but once the UV light lit up those flourescent balls, she got super wiggly. Usually she just sticks her head under the couch or kitchen gate, and freezes for several minutes until someone helps her. It's like she's trying to will the balls to come to her with her mind! One day a couple months ago, ALL of her balls were missing. We cleaned out under the couch and there were 18 tiny tennis balls under it!!! She used to push them under my end table, and then we got a new couch, so that's more fun apparently. If anyone is in the kitchen, she pushes them under the kitchen gate. What a fun game... like a baby throwing their pacifier out of their car seat/crib/high chair, etc!
Does anyone else have a Pomsky who when they're tired, they just drop wherever they are and sleep in really uncomfortable, odd positions? That's what Maple does! Sometimes she'll nest and curl up in a ball, but most of the time she just drops wherever and however. I've seen her with her butt considerably higher than her head, her legs hanging off furniture, wedged between cushions, legs in the air propped up on pillows, etc. She's the only dog I've ever seen do that!!! 2 out of my 5 kids sleep like that (they're all adults) and have since toddlerhood. It's so weird to see when my Peke and I sleep, we have to be in the perfect, same few positions we always sleep in.
Also, instead of sniffing to explore new things, she LICKS everything! My kid, Maple's dad, has been playing Baldur's Gate 3 for a couple months, and every time Maple licks something, they quote this line from the game in a gruff British accent, "Stop licking the damn thing!" 😂 Sometimes Maple even stops licking MID lick, and just stays there with her tongue on whatever for a few seconds. Her tongue also sticks out a bit and vibrates when she's excited about a new toy or treat!!! Such an odd little thing, but there's never a dull moment with her!
Anyways, that is all! I hope everyone is having lovely weather and that your Pomskies and furbabies are enjoying Spring! Summer is almost here (in Minnesota anyway).

2024.06.01 01:30 aTomicBombExplosion My Secretlab Titan XL (June 9, 2021) is losing a stitch at the head rest, which I never use. Is this normal?

I'm a bit disappointed. I've just noticed that the stitching on my Titan XL is loose. The seat is almost three years old and still in good condition, with the headrest barely used. I do have the head pillow on it, which I assume might be the cause of the issue.
I've always cleaned it with a clean Swiffer cloth—no vacuuming, no wet dishcloths, and no cats. I do have a dog, but she's afraid of sitting on the chair, so she never does that nor do I allow that.
Is this covered under warranty?

Title: Pass the Star
Rating: Explicit
CW: Fluff, non-consensual kiss
Word Count: 4837
Summary: F/F Roller Derby AU
Azalea Fell is a new skater in an underground roller derby league. She meets Antoinette Crowley, a skater on a rival team, and there's an immediate attraction. Determined to avoid ruining their new friendship with a love affair, the dummies pine away.
This chapter: Azalea starts an investigation of sorts, a few new characters are introduced, and our girls have an eventful first day of being Official.
Excerpt:
“You’re amazing, Az. My angel.” Crowley kissed her slowly in the middle of the car park.
Azalea kissed her back. “I’m not much of an angel, darling. I’m just me.”
“Mmm, you are. Thank -- someone.”
“Let’s go, beautiful,” Azalea said, putting her hand on Crowley’s. “We can go to dinner, and then to the bookshop. I’ll grab a bag, and we can go to your place. I believe you have someone to introduce me to.”
Crowley led them to her car and opened the door for Azalea before climbing into the driver’s seat. “Just so you know, my cat is old and she can be grumpy so don’t take it personally if she gives you the cold shoulder.”
“I’ll just have to win her over like I did with you,” Azalea said, fastening her seat belt.
“No, you didn’t have to win me over, angel. If taking you to A&E hadn’t worked, I would have found some other way to have seduced you.” Crowley explained, starting the car. “I was determined to get to know you however I could.”
Azalea smiled at her. “Soppy,” she teased quietly.
“Shut up,” Crowley said, blushing.
