This entrepreneur buys a gas station for his wife’s baby shower
If you’re interested in growing your wealth, starting a business, or living a truly rich life, these six tips can help you do it the right way.
He didn’t buy a bed until he got married. And when his wife was pregnant, he wondered, “How much does a baby cost?” Today he owns ten gas stations and even a building that houses the Wells Fargo bank.
https://preview.redd.it/h815a0yvei1d1.jpg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b4d65328ee20c0a2a76e2239c535b06006828c5c
The farther down this page you read, you’ll understand how you too can buy gas stations and banks.
More importantly, you’ll start to feel, think, and act like a wealthy entrepreneur.
A wise man once told me this:
I remember these words like it was yesterday…
And I like what it means. But I had one problem though.
I struggled to understand the specific principles that wealthy people used to think.
So tell me something…
How did you buy your first car?
Did you buy it cash down?
Or, did you borrow money? Took an auto loan, perhaps?
Let me tell you a little story.

Buying my first car.

Over twenty years ago, I bought my first car.
And everything happened so quickly…
A car salesman stopped me at my office lobby. He asked if I was interested in buying a car. And he handed me a pamphlet.
It basically said that based on my salary, I was eligible to take an auto loan.
The promise that I could drive a brand-new car in ten days was too tempting.
So I gave in. I signed up for an auto loan.
And in less than ten days, I had this shiny new gray-color car!
It had power windows, an electronic steering wheel, auto-dimming rearview mirrors, and all the bells and whistles. Smart move, right?

Hold on to your horses!

Smart move or not, I’ll let you decide after you’re done reading the rest of this post.
Recently, I’ve been binge-listening to some of the backdated episodes of a podcast I LOVE.
And I bumped into a very familiar name.
Syed Balkhi.

The millionaire teen.

I first heard of Syed long ago in 2006 when I started blogging. But little did I pay attention to what he did. All I knew was that he had a website called WPBeginner.
It was a blog about WordPress for people who built WordPress websites or plugins. I liked his content and spent a lot of time reading his blog posts as I was building WordPress websites too.
Syed is in his thirties today. Which means he must’ve been in his early teens in 2006!
In about eighteen months of starting WPBeginner, he made his first million dollars in annual revenue.
And ever since, he’s grown his business, Awesome Motive, big time by acquiring other WordPress companies.
If you aren’t familiar with WordPress, it’s a CMS software. Content Management System, in short.
It’s a software that supposedly powers 40% of the internet. But that’s not the best part. Here’s what is:
Syed’s company today owns ~60% of all WordPress businesses.
https://preview.redd.it/q94pw2dyei1d1.png?width=1000&format=png&auto=webp&s=ad09e2577179c030bdbba726b7dbaf7f368d44bc
I call this the Balkhi Domination Disc.
Put simply, Syed’s businesses power 24% of the internet.
This is HEWGE!
Okay, another story…

The gas station story.

At some point on the podcast, Syed goes…
Offset expenses?
I was on a run while listening to this, and almost tripped when he said that.
Okay. Take a deep breath. I did that too…
Coz from this point on, it’s PURE GOLD.
And here goes the first and biggest lesson in wealth creation…

Tip #1: Every time you need to buy a depreciating asset, invest in an appreciating asset.

Syed says he learned this lesson from his mentor when he was thirteen or fourteen.
The best way to understand this is to loop back to my opening story…
When I bought my first car, I paid the monthly installments using my salary.
But when Syed’s mentor bought his Mercedes, he didn’t spend money from his savings. Instead, he decided to invest money in real estate. And he used the returns from that real estate to finance his shiny new Mercedes.
When Syed’s wife was pregnant with their first son…
He followed the exact blueprint.
He knew the money one would need with a baby birth – hospital charges, medicines, diapers, toys, and everything else!
So instead of spending money from his savings, Syed used the lesson he learned from his mentor to cover the cost of raising a baby – he bought a gas station!
It didn’t just give him the money to pay for the baby shower and childbirth. The gas station would continue to generate a steady flow of cash every single year.
Darn! Why didn’t it ever strike me before?
Mentor, baby! I’m glad to have found one in a podcast!
Okay, let’s look at the next one…

Tip #2: Build a recurring revenue business

In a content business, you turn email subscribers into paying customers. But Syed calls them just re-occurring revenue. The revenue occurs every time someone on your list buys something from you.
A new customer pays once. And unless you sell them something else, you aren’t going to make bank. The only way your business is going to see revenue trickle in from that customer is when you sell to them again.
The solution?
Build a recurring revenue business.
Syed regularly invests and acquires other WordPress software and tools businesses. This allows him to cross-sell software and tools to existing info product customers.
Of course, you can build recurring revenue info products too, using memberships and subscriptions – but Syed didn’t get into that on this podcast.
So yes, using revenue to acquire new businesses is a great idea. But how much should you invest?
Syed has stuck to one principle:

Tip #3: Heads I win, tails I don’t lose much

Syed learned this principle from his friend Monish Pabrai.
In his book The Dhando Investor, Monish talks about the Patels of India. He describes how this relatively tiny subset of humanity from eastern India went on to own most of the motels in the United States.
According to Monish, one of the biggest reasons why the Patels have been successful in business is because they always have followed this principle – heads I win, tails I don’t lose much. So what does this mean?
Let’s look at it with an example.
Assume the intrinsic value of a certain business is $1,000,000, and you buy it for $700,000. What you just did in that transaction is what he describes as a “heads I win, tails I don’t lose much”.
Because let’s say you did a great job with the business and the intrinsic value went up – you win!
But just in case you didn’t do much with the business and the intrinsic value dropped by $400,000, you only lose $100,000.
Heads you win, tails you don’t lose much!
This is wild!
At this point, I was fully invested in listening to this conversation. And I was just getting restless thinking…
“How can I buy a business on the cheap?”
And it just felt like the hosts heard me!
Let’s look at the answer to my question.

Tip #4: Identify “mismanaged gems” to compound at high double-digit

Back in the 1990s, my uncle built an empire buying distressed real estate properties. And it wasn’t easy. Every time he bought one, there was a lot of work to be done.
From litigation and dispute issues to structural issues, he was usually handed a mess. That’s why they were called distressed assets – thankfully, my uncle had the wherewithal to turn them around.
Mismanaged gems are different.
Syed describes mismanaged gems as good (online) businesses with some limitations. These could be in the form of having limited revenue streams, limited target audience, or something else.
Let’s look at a couple of examples…
  • Let’s take an online business where the creator isn’t aware of the different ways to monetize their business. You can acquire this business for $15,000. You use your Facebook Ads skills to sell $20,000 worth of info products and instantly increase the revenue.
  • If an online business has been running only using word-of-mouth marketing, you can acquire it and use your email list to instantly grow the business by exposing them to a new audience.
Here’s how Syed puts it…
“A business might only be thinking about monetizing from one angle. They’re not thinking about it from a full perspective. So I can look at it and say well yes this is the current revenue today, and I’m getting a bargain on today’s revenue. But here are my contracts that I have with so many different partners and vendors and such that I’ll be able to unlock extra revenue here, here, and here. So I turned this business that has one revenue stream to having like multiple revenue streams. That’s how you take something that was doing like no revenue to or very low revenue to having five eight ten million dollars in revenue.” – Syed Balkhi

Tip #5: Leverage the Ecosystem effect

If you’re starting a business, look for an ecosystem. What does that mean?
Syed’s entire online business is built around the WordPress ecosystem.
But there are many other software platforms like WordPress that have an ecosystem. Look at software like QuickBooks, Google Chrome, or Xero. These software platforms are built like an ecosystem, allowing developers to build plugins and extensions.
Most of these plugins and extensions are sizeable businesses in and of themselves. So if you’re starting a business, you’re better off starting one inside an ecosystem.
Starting a business inside an ecosystem exposes you to massive opportunities. You can grow your business through acquisitions, and cross-selling, amongst many other ways. And this also helps you compound over time.
Related Post: Speaking of selling, I think you’ll find value in this episode on The Launch Plan podcast about the F-Word that stops clients from buying your products.

Tip #6: Go from creatooperator to capital allocator

This one is an advanced idea. If you’ve done well with your business and have some cash in the bank, this one’s for ya!
Essentially what Syed says here is that you have one of two choices:
  1. You can choose to build a business from scratch, or
  2. You can acquire an existing business and multiply it.
Obviously, this is an advanced tip. But great business owners don’t master capital allocation overnight. While there are some common traits between the two, it’s a skill you need to build.
I haven’t bought a business so far. But I’m very interested in this. You’ll likely see me writing more on this topic in future posts.

Bonus ‘Rick’ Tip: Don’t be in a hurry to get wealthy

Have you heard of Rick Guerin?
If you haven’t, no worries. Neither did I – until I listened to this podcast.
Rick Guerin was Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger’s third business partner at Berkshire Hathaway.
Huh? Really?
I couldn’t believe it either. A third partner?
So looked up the interwebs for proof.
It turns out to be TRUE!
Here’s how Monish Pabrai describes what happened to Rick:
Rick was just as smart as Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger. But he was in a hurry. And that’s the bonus tip!

🔗Clear 5-foot Cellophane Wrap for DIY Gifts and Creations

https://preview.redd.it/u4e9b3gnhi1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7f98042a38e21c8f2c6531d5ee03879efc0270e8
I recently used this Clear Cellophane Wrap to add a touch of elegance to my gift baskets. The 30-inch by 5-foot roll was perfect for covering a large basket for a birthday party I attended.
It's made of high-quality, glossy cellophane that's thicker and sturdier than other brands, so it doesn't tear easily while wrapping. I loved how versatile it is - I used it to wrap a birthday gift, create a DIY holiday gift basket, and even make candy leis for a graduation celebration. This Clear Cellophane Wrap definitely made my gifts stand out, and I'd highly recommend it for anyone looking to add a special touch to their gift giving.
The only downside is that it's a bit on the expensive side compared to other wraps, but the quality and versatility are well worth the investment.

I recently came across the Fiesta Wraps 200 ft Green Cellophane Wrap Roll. To say it's been a game-changer in my gift-wrapping routine would be an understatement! This roll of 16-inch-wide, 200-feet-long, transparent green cellophane has proved incredibly versatile.
First off, I love how it instantly elevates the appearance of any gift. Wrap your boxes or baskets with this, and you're guaranteed an aesthetically pleasing result that rivals any store-bought present. Its long length also allows me to cover large items or create extra-long 'gift bag' handles.
The quality of this cellophane wrap is incredible. At 25 mic-thick, it's durable and doesn't tear or get damaged easily, even if there's some rough handling during transport. Plus, it seals perfectly, keeping your gifts safe from moisture and dust.
However, there are two minor cons. Firstly, cutting through this thick cellophane can be challenging without using scissors. Secondly, this isn't a shrink wrap roll, so it's not suitable for projects requiring shrink wrapping.
All in all, the Fiesta Wraps Green Cellophane Wrap Roll has made wrapping presents a lot more enjoyable and professional-looking. Highly recommended!

🔗Transparent Cello Wrap - 40' x 30

https://preview.redd.it/cfw8lmmphi1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=afc7b9f16ee3cd56046a7f6609dac8d1e163c101
As a product reviewer, I recently used the Cello Wrap Clear 40' for a variety of gift-wrapping projects. I was initially drawn to its transparent design, which allowed me to easily see the contents of my gift baskets and raffle items. The large 40' roll made it easy to wrap multiple gifts, and its sturdy quality material ensured that it held up well during my wrapping endeavors.
However, one downside was the lack of variety in terms of width or color options - though the clear aspect did provide a certain sophisticated look to my finished products. Overall, I would recommend the Cello Wrap Clear 40' to anyone in search of a durable and transparent gift-wrapping solution.

As a seasoned gift-wrapper, I've tried my fair share of cellophane wrapping options over the years. However, the Stobok Clear Cellophane Wrap Roll truly stands out from the rest. Its 2.5 Mil thickness provides a sturdy, durable feel that not many other products can boast of. Additionally, the roll's generous size (100 feet long when unfolded) has saved me countless trips to the store, allowing me to wrap everything from small treats to large baskets effortlessly.
What makes it even more versatile is the see-through feature - it adds a touch of elegance to any gift, whether it's a wine bottle or a flower arrangement. The Stobok Clear Cellophane Wrap Roll also excels at preserving freshness and hygiene, keeping your food gifts clean and safe from external contaminants. Plus, wrapping with this roll is sheer convenience; you can cut it into any desired length with ease.
However, the only downside I found was the slightly challenging process of removing the backing from the roll. But once that's done, it's smooth sailing all the way. All in all, the Stobok Clear Cellophane Wrap Roll is a clear winner for me and has become a staple in my gift-wrapping supplies.

🔗Cabilock Multi-Purpose Clear Cellophane Wrap Rolls for Gifts, Baskets, and More

I've been using these Cabilock Clear Cellophane Bags for all my gift wrapping needs and I must say, they've been a game-changer. The clarity of the cellophane is top-notch, giving my gifts a professional appearance that's sure to impress.
I've wrapped everything from small treats to large wine bottles and even used it for flower arrangements, and these clear wrapping papers have never let me down. They're extra long, so I can wrap even my most unwieldy gifts in one go, and the thickness provides extra support without compromising its ease of use. Plus, they're food-safe, which means I can even use them for wrapping baked goods or candies.
They're truly a must-have for anyone looking to add a touch of elegance to their gift-giving.

FAQ

What are cellophane wrapping papers?

Cellophane wrapping papers are transparent, biodegradable, and lightweight sheets that are commonly used for food packaging, gift wrapping, and decorative purposes. They are available in various widths, thicknesses, and colors to suit different needs.

Secure the edges with ribbon or twine, and add decorative elements such as bows, name tags, or stickers.

What are the benefits of using cellophane wrapping papers?

  1. Transparent and see-through, which allows for a pleasant unwrapping experience
  2. Biodegradable and environmentally friendly alternative to plastic films
  3. Easy to cut, fold and shape to fit different-sized gifts

How do I store cellophane wrapping papers?

To keep your cellophane wrapping papers in good condition, store them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and excessive moisture. Roll the sheets neatly and ensure they are not exposed to any sharp edges or corners that might tear or puncture the paper.

Yes, cellophane wrapping papers are available in a variety of metallic colors such as gold, silver, and rose gold. These colors add elegance and shimmer to gift wrapping, making them perfect for special occasions like weddings, anniversaries, and holidays.

Can I use cellophane wrapping papers for food packaging?

Yes, but only for dry and non-greasy food items. Cellophane wrapping papers are not suitable for wrapping oily or moist foods, as they may stick or tear easily. To wrap food items safely, ensure they are well sealed and stored at appropriate temperatures to prevent spoilage and contamination.

How to measure how much cellophane wrapping paper I need for my gift?

To determine the amount of paper needed, first, measure the height and circumference of your gift using a flexible measuring tape. Next, add 3-4 inches to each measurement, so you have enough paper to fold and secure it properly. Multiply these two measurements and you'll get the square footage of paper needed, which you can then compare to the available options for cellophane wrapping papers.

How do I clean or remove stains from cellophane wrapping papers?

Cellophane wrapping papers cannot be cleaned or removed once they have been stained. Prevent staining by handling the paper gently and avoiding contact with oily or greasy substances. When possible, use two sheets of paper instead of one to minimize the risk of accidental staining.

Are cellophane wrapping papers acid-free?

Yes, cellophane wrapping papers are generally acid-free. This makes them suitable for archival and conservation purposes, ensuring that delicate artifacts, paper, and photographs remain in good condition for long periods.

What is the difference between cellophane wrapping papers and wax paper?

Cellophane wrapping papers are made from cellulose, which is a natural and biodegradable material derived from plant fibers. They provide a transparent appearance with excellent resistance to moisture, grease, and air. Wax paper, on the other hand, is coated with a thin layer of wax, which gives it a non-stick surface, making it suitable for food storage and cooking purposes.

Sweaty night left dots on sheets.
Help me identify mystery spots on white sheets!
Hey all- here is a mystery post to crack. I just put new bedding on and I’ve been fighting a cold so I’ve been getting sweaty at night to break my fever.
I woke up this am with little marks/ stains on the sheets. It’s not bed bugs (gross and unlikely but we checked).
I sleep with undue and a tee on, and it’s not blood/time of the month and I wasn’t eating in bed.
I do have beauty marks, and it feels like this could only be the reason, but beauty marks don’t stain. I’m also 10 months out from having a baby so, could it be some wonky postpartum thing?
This is within my hips, thighs and knees region. And it does look like a brown tiny speckle stain. I showered prior to bed and put of fresh PJs.my husband didn’t have them on his side either. To reiterate we are clean humans, and this also wasn’t a pet.
Seems like I need to make a derm appt asap. Has anyone else seen this??

La cancion que me mando es I Saw Her Standing There de The Beatles.

2024.05.20 06:08 PainfulPoo411 I wore a dress all day and didn’t realize I was getting chub rub 😫 now it hurts sooooo bad

Today was my baby shower so I wore a dress all day, including taking down decor and packing up the car with gifts. I typically wear bike shorts with dresses but was feeling comfortable and also didn’t want the lines to show through my dress - BIG MISTAKE and now I’m paying the price.
I didn’t even realize I was getting chub rub. Felt fine all day, showered and went to bed. I woke up to pee and -OW OW OW. My thighs are rubbed raw like nothing I’ve experienced before.
What are some pregnancy-safe methods to soothe chin rub burns?

2024.05.20 06:05 Tattoo_Cat Do I have good enough reason to feel cheated by my boyfriends family?

My boyfriend and I have been together 2 years and have decided we are ready to have a baby together. This might seem early in the relationship, however, I have been with my fair share of bad boyfriends and I know this one is the one and we will make good parents together. We actually really wanted to have a baby together within the first year however we decided to be responsible as we weren’t living together, didn’t have much money saved and just knew it wasn’t the right time. We are now both 25, we have a house together, have enough savings and feel it is absolutely the right time. We have worked hard to get to this place and are very excited for the next step. Not only are we excited to actually start a family but I have always dreamed about telling my family and how excited they will be. I was also extremely excited to tell my boyfriends family as he is the oldest and our baby would make his parents grandparents for the first time. When I first met my boyfriends Dad, he asked when the grandkids were coming, telling us he couldn’t wait to be a grandpa. He also got out his phone and showed us a video of a gender reveal involving a truck blowing the coloured smoke out of the pipes and told us this is what we would do when we had a gender reveal one day (he is a very proud truck driver from a long line of truck drivers). My boyfriend and I laughed and said that was cool and we will do it one day. Every time we rang my boyfriends Dad as he lives 5 hours away, he would always ask when his grandchildren are coming.
Fast forward a year. My boyfriend and I were still trying to conceive with no luck yet, we knew it wouldn’t happen over night. However, one night we receive a facetime phone call from my boyfriends Dad. He is sitting beside my boyfriends younger brother, we’ll call him Tom, who is 22 and says ‘guess what’. Tom then holds up a new born onesie and says ‘we’re having a baby’.
My heart sinks. And this is where all of my ugly, angry, sad emotions begin. I would also just like to disclose before I go on, that I KNOW I should not feel this way, but it’s just the way I do feel.
My boyfriends younger brother Tom has been with his girlfriend for 4 months, we’ll call her Sarah. She has an 18month old baby with someone else and doesn’t work to take care of this child. Tom lives next door to his Dad and step mom in a rental with 2x of his step brothers, absolute bachelor pad. They all work in the truck yard down the road and smoke bongs in the shed every night. Sarah moved in to the house with her child as soon as she met Tom and sure enough now she is pregnant with his child. Tom is always broke, asking my boyfriend for money all the time. He is constantly caught short for rent, which isn’t even that much considering it is split 3 ways. Tom drives a two door v8 Ute which is his pride and joy, which he will now have to sell to get a family friendly car.
My boyfriend is happy for his brother, yet I feel crushed. I want to feel happy for them.
A few months later, my boyfriend and I took some time off work to visit his dads side of the family (his parents are split). We drove 5 hours to come and stay with them as my boyfriend doesn’t see them very often. Whilst we were up there we met Sarah for the first time and her child from her previous relationship. Sarah, Tom and the child had moved into a slightly bigger ‘bar’ room out the back of the bachelor house and it was absolutely trashed. They are sleeping on a mattress with no sheets, there is clothes, toys, empty food containers, dishes, rubbish covering the floor and surfaces. Tom simply remarked ‘when you have kids, you’ll understand’. I get that, having kids is hard and messy but this was beyond that, and, Sarah doesn’t work she is home all day every day. My boyfriend commented that Tom use to be a neat freak which I found hard to believe.
Whilst we were up there it seemed all everyone could talk about is this baby. Sarah was also constantly leaving her other child with various of Tom’s family members and just going to bed. My boyfriend and Tom’s stepmum quietly said to me that she is constantly left with the child whose nappy is always full. I spent some time with Sarah who mentioned to me that she happened to fall pregnant and asked Tom if he wanted to keep it or if she should abort it. My boyfriend and I had argued over whether we thought it was a planned baby or not, my boyfriend insisting it was planned. Obviously not.
Sarah also began discussing with us that she and Tom were going to do a gender reveal. She then explained that they were going to do the same truck idea that my boyfriends Dad had showed us. I made an excuse to leave the room and I burst into tears. This made me feel like his Dad didn’t actually care if my boyfriend and I had a baby, he just wanted a grandchild no matter where it came from, and Tom did it first. Whilst we were staying with my boyfriends Dad, we also saw so many fights unfold in front of us between Tom and Sarah. Yes couples fight but they were screaming at each other, in front of the 18 month old and getting in each others faces. A very healthy thing for a couple about to be a family of 4. Not long after this trip, Tom and Sarah announced the pregnancy on Facebook and all of my boyfriends family commented on there how excited they were and how Tom is a ‘clever’ boy as there will be 5 generations since Tom and my boyfriends great grandparents are still alive. I again tried to feel happy for them but this was stifled by my feeling of anger. Since day one of meeting my boyfriend I had always put in a HUGE effort to not only meet my boyfriends family but we travelled immensely to meet all sides of family as he has family all over the place. His mum and her partner live away and we often spent lots of weekends with them which was not easy at all as his mum is addicted to hard drugs and my boyfriend is the only family member that still speaks to her. We also travelled 4 hours multiple times to stay with his grand father and visit cousins. We travelled 3 hours on Christmas Eve to spend Christmas with his cousins family and recently we travelled another 6 hour round trip to spend the day with his Nanna who is sick. Family is very important to me and also my boyfriend so I always made a huge effort to visit them with him. This is what has bothered me almost the most, my boyfriend and I have made such an effort with his family, yet, all they can talk about is Tom and Sarah having a baby. Tom and Sarah have not made nearly as much effort as us to meet any family, Sarah has met Tom’s dad and brother (my boyfriend) and that’s it. Everytime my boyfriend speaks to one of his relatives it’s always ‘isn’t it so exciting, not long now’.
A few months after this, my boyfriend and I had a triumph - we were pregnant! Followed by heart ache, an early miscarriage.
I spoke to my family who were extremely supportive and my boyfriend told his who were supportive at the time but just told us to ‘keep trying’. No one has spoken about it since, which is okay, but, I am not okay. Whilst I was feeling so hurt and upset before, it is now millions times worse. I have had good days, and bad days. One of my worst days was recently when Sarah invited us to her baby shower. My boyfriend came home from work and said ‘we’ll have to book some time off work since it’s on the Saturday and we have to travel’. We then got into an argument as I was so hurt that he just assumed I was okay to go to it. After a few days of thought I realised how important it was to my boyfriend and I had to push my feelings aside. I’m still so frustrated though because aside from all of my pain, I KNOW they would not travel 5 hours and take time off work to go to our baby shower if we had one.
So the baby shower is in 2 weeks and I’m still having the same ugly, angry, sad, disgusting thoughts swirling around my head.
Why do they get to have a baby within 4 monts of knowing each other, completely unprepared, no money, no vehicle, no house, no nothing? They didn’t plan this, she just let herself get pregnant or they were so careless not to use protection. My boyfriend and I could’ve gotten pregnant within the first months of dating but we’re not that stupid and irresponsible. My boyfriends stepbrother has moved out of the house and is living in a shed so that Sarah and Tom have more room to have a baby which I think is so completely unfair. And now the other stepbrother that lives there will have an 18month old and a new born in his house which he never signed up for. Tom and Sarah have just gotten pregnant and not thought about anyone else or how this effects anyone else. My boyfriend and I have worked long, hard hours to save for our dream and yet we’re here watching it unfold for someone else whilst we deal with the heart ache of getting so close and losing it. I work in disability which is extremely mentally draining and my boyfriend is a diesel mechanic which is physical and hard. Sarah doesn’t work, yes she takes care of her child yet they’re living in filth and she manages to palm him off most of the time anyway. Tom is a casual at his work and spends most of his pay check on weed and smokes every night. Yet, the entire family thinks they are so incredible and wow! They’re having a baby! I feel so cheated, I feel like it should be us, and I know that’s so incredibly selfish but we couldn’t have planned this more if we tried yet they simply didn’t use protection and get to live out our dream.
I’m wondering how on earth I am going to manage to get through this damn baby shower and I would love to know peoples thoughts on this, but please, be kind 😭

2024.05.20 05:57 PrismOnDaCrism Proyecto T.E.S.A.

No hubo respuesta.
— Voy a ayudar a Mon.
— Deberías atender, no queremos vernos sospechosos.
— Muerta. — Void interrumpió. — Lo sé.
— Excelente, entonces estamos compaginados.
PROYECTO T.E.S.A.

2024.05.20 05:49 midwestbeagle Baby shower anxiety

I'm having a lot of stress and anxiety about my baby shower and could use some positivity.
Both my mom and MIL want to have a baby shower for me. I live 4 hours away from them. I told them I want just 1 baby shower. My mom is the one hosting, but since my MIL wants to help, and half of her family will make up the guest list, I asked if she could help pay for the food. She definitely wants to help, but I keep having anxiety that I asked too much of her. We have 50 people invited, and 23 are from her side. Her portion will cost about $300 ($250 for food. I rounded up to account for her helping with other things like decor, etc.).
My husband and I are also contributing about $250, and my mom's portion will probably be around $300 - $350.
I would honestly prefer something smaller and simpler, but both families are huge and this is really the minimum amount of people we have to invite. Since we have so many people, we can't hold it at anyone's house, so I found a nice central venue that will do the food, setup, and cleanup . Both my mom and MIL like the idea, but I'm personally panicking that this is too much/ I'm asking too much. I hope I didn't overstep. I just wanted to have a little bit of involvement.
What do you think?

2024.05.20 05:44 Defiant_Idea_2019 Shower 🧼

Is she going to hope people just give her money for her shower? Bc baby gurrrrrrrl has everything. Duplicates, stuff she won’t need or be able to even use for months and years? What would people even buy her? I’m assuming diapers and wipes but between her registry she had at 6 hours pregnant and all the shopping and gifts from her minions she has it ALL.

2024.05.20 05:41 East-Region-7291 Post-op recovery items giveaway

Post-op recovery items giveaway
Hey guys! Recently, I made a post in this sub about having top surgery with Dr. Sassani. While everything did go great, I did over-prepare with the supplies and I have a lot of stuff left over that’s either in great condition or never used/opened. I’ve been thinking for a while what I can do with all this stuff and decided that I’m going to donate all of this to someone in need!
Here's what I have to offer: • Marena Recovery Short Vest – Style No. MVS Size Large I wore it for 2-3 weeks, it’s in great condition
Original source: https://marena.com/products/mvs-compression-vest?variant=14424304648234¤cy=USD&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&tw_source=google&tw_adid=&tw_campaign=18011636806&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwxqayBhDFARIsAANWRnTQcPVf3BqoVTSPc5pERAr48fwfNOBdFGEGU08UK_jJ11Hkl44lQ-AaAroQEALw_wcB
• Renova Medical Mastectomy Recovery Shirt with Drain Pockets Size Large Lightly worn, condition is like new
Original source: (My surgeon gave me this for free, but here’s the source link anyway) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00EDH6ZTG/?coliid=IKLW0E1GTDG4Z&colid=KAF7TKP3H98P&psc=1&ref_=list_c_wl_lv_ov_lig_dp_it

• TAILONG Men’s Compression Vest Size Large Never worn, this size ended up being too big for me, so I had to size down
Original source: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09PQ6X8YN?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
• Mastectomy pillow Never used, but I did take out the gel pack it came with, and I accidentally lost it LOL. Otherwise, the pillow itself was never used
Original source: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BQ4N6LCK/?coliid=I2C9EWPKHW7E8Z&colid=KAF7TKP3H98P&psc=1&ref_=list_c_wl_lv_ov_lig_dp_it
• 4x4 inch Sterile Gauze pads (3 boxes, 50 gauze pads per box) 1 of them has a few gauzes missing because I used them, but otherwise the other 2 boxes have all 50 gauze pads inside of them
Original source: https://www.amazon.com/EVERLIT-Extra-Thick-Sterile-Absorbent-Non-Woven/dp/B08ZY7W93D/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=GS0C84TOL2R4&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.uMsO0bdUxcOMCpflDy2S-LviahEMmPqpFpM6H5QVflg--HqyyaigjfvnyaHEiK2tfESUUo7IAOBySIC8B_k5Qf4KdRKyzny9mKpZRf2vXVHL2Lj2MWA--5DMhSdwmHXmkOaWRUHeG-wpDB5mzj4FW002snM3edkkPB8CWnlCVmv7whIesQKDnNpbEUsZ42nPG2IfXA4CXKDfEpL9o1FAJ7pLMRzgu7fMUnfX8ogzWFqTWhkPYf-X2n41KudHa9qBM9L8Csv6VGczZac1H6cParBoTn5dzgflQi7gjyzoU_M.etK-GexIRcwg89Y6wZ7xTRCojaO5aB5HJX24XTk38wQ&dib_tag=se&keywords=gauze+pads+4x4&qid=1716172295&s=hpc&sprefix=gauze+pads+4x4%2Chpc%2C98&sr=1-1-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY&psc=1

• Rinse-free shampoo caps (6 pouches) When I couldn’t shower for the first week post-op, these were a life saver because I didn’t have the opportunity to wash my hair in the sink like some people did.
Original source: https://www.amazon.com/Scrubzz-Bedridden-Patients-Waterless-Microwavable/dp/B0BP43QS9N/ref=sr_1_4_pp?crid=2SX8MHMKQLWGH&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.SAZX2354mnBj4VvBER-Y-jSxAuZyXiw221Zjo0H-bigK6sxa8wu50042UACs0LAmfI3muKPV18ivJYZLpeMyxKmqfbFEGu8mKIZxyEljxXRrdRFjnZc7RVOJasDnjl_KPEEpREA9JWlWNLHxzuJa1_IWRP5fdjCIyzzK9ebbgSLXMudx-f45sYBzAPw3epxPKp4k_CXggSLYheOeQ_8_K9G_txEAmlP3oTFPHt8y3k1lTh_ThUimUFAaW_ZEYVDcg1OzrxTgUa1mFIVC-fr-hYSFEJkb0KoXImWAAQHg0RQ.Ivb8dtXFc0v9O3qTNSUr9Ct5Xu1-jKkV99Muai5gKlY&dib_tag=se&keywords=rinse%2Bfree%2Bshampoo%2Bcaps&qid=1716172700&s=hpc&sprefix=rinse%2Bfree%2Bshampoo%2Bcaps%2Chpc%2C108&sr=1-4&th=1

• Baby wipes, sensitive and fragrance free (3 packs) These were a must for me when I couldn’t shower. All 3 packs have the protection seal and were never opened.
Original source: Bought them in person, they’re your regular baby wipes you can find anywhere. I bought a lot of them cuz they had a good deal at target lmao
• Cleansing wipes (1 pack of Neutrogena hydro boost facial wipes and 1 pack of honey pot wipes) Yeah, you guessed it…more wipes lmao
Original source: Also bought them in person
• Surgical tape (pack of 5) Original box had 6 rolls but I used one of the rolls, so there’s 5 rolls left
Original source: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09499N7HH/?coliid=IPL2L9UIYP25U&colid=KAF7TKP3H98P&psc=1&ref_=list_c_wl_lv_ov_lig_dp_it
• Xeroform dressing pouches (2 boxes, 25 pouches per box. Each dressing is 2x2 inches) 1 box was never opened, the 2nd box has 18 pouches left

• Powderlax laxative powder Never opened, has protection seal on
Original source: bought in person
• Bacitraycin PLUS antibiotic ointment Never opened, has protection seal on
Original source: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09MR8YX4Z/?coliid=I1K6L70C2WXJL0&colid=KAF7TKP3H98P&psc=1&ref_=list_c_wl_lv_ov_lig_dp_it
• Ace wrap (2) In great condition, I found that these provided more compression for me than the surgical vests
Original source: given to me by the surgeon
Please note this: 1) I’m donating everything listed as one big package to only 1 person, as I can’t afford to cover shipping for multiple people nor do I have the mental capacity or time to manage multiple shipments 2) These supplies alone won’t cover everything you might need for top surgery recovery, but this sure will save you some money and I will get to make someone else’s life easier! 3) If you're interested, feel free to dm me or comment under this post! First come - first served.
P.S.: I ship only within the U.S., but shipping is fully covered by me though :D

2024.05.20 05:40 Weirdguy149 The fates of each villain on Analyzing Evil as of 5/19/24

Now that there is another tier list, here is my sixth installment on the subject where I determine how each of these villains meet their fates. Here is the first post, the second, the third, the fourth, and the fifth. As always, I'll keep everyone from the previous post where they are but I'll get rid of their explanations unless I had to change something between now and then. Without further ado, let's begin. I am not doing Mr. Orange since he's not evil by his criteria but he would count as dead by being killed.
Alive and redeemed: Derek Vineyard, Gordon Gekko, Jules Winnfield, and William Munny
Their story is unfinished: Agent Smith, Azula, Davy Jones, Euron Greyjoy (is currently still alive), Frieza (is currently at large and still a key player in the conflict), Griffith, the Joker (Joker), the Machines, Ramsay Bolton (A Song of Ice and Fire, is currently still alive), SHODAN, and Tommy Shelby (a Peaky Blinders movie set after the series is being made)
Alive, free, and uninjured: Alex DeLarge (book), Amy Dunne, Blondie, Christof, Clay Puppington, Green Goblin (MCU), Hannibal Lecter (book series), Henry Potter, Honey Bunny, Jobu Tupaki, Jonas Engstrom, Judge Holden, Keyser Soze, the Li Tolqa, the Lighthouse, Lord Summerisle and his society, Louis Bloom, Mary (Precious), Ozymandias (original comics), Patrick Bateman, Ringo, Roman Castevet, Terence Fletcher, Tetsuo Shima, Tommy Shelby, Travis Bickle, Tuco, Vic Mackey, Viktor Bout/Yuri Orlov, and the Wolf
Alive, free, yet injured: Alex DeLarge (movie), Anton Chigurrh, Butch Coolidge, Cameron Alexander, English Bob, Hannibal Lecter (Silence of the Lambs/Hannibal Movie), Hans Landa, Johan Liebert, Marcellus Wallace, Marlo Stanfield, Michael Myers (Thorn Trilogy/H20 Timelines), Mildred Ratched, Mr. Pink, and Noah Cross
Alive, captive, and uninjured: Antonio Salieri, Baby Jane Hudson, Daniel Plainview, Gaear Grimsrude (is arrested without incident by Marge Gunderson for multiple murders), Jerry Lundegaard (is arrested pitifully while trying and failing to escape through the roof), Nathan Jessup, Norman Bates (first movie), O-Dog, Ozai, Ozymandias (Doomsday Clock/HBO Series), the Riddler, Rumi, Saul Goodman, and Sy Parrish
Alive, captive, and injured: The Joker (The Dark Knight), Melkor, Mr. Pink (gets injured in a shootout and arrested offscreen), and Thomas Howard
Unclear: Bill Cipher, Blanche Dubois (may or may not be dead by the end depending on interpretation), Citra, Gendo Ikari, Jack Delroy (may or may not be arrested for his actions), Robert House (can either stay alive throughout the campaign or die in any number of ways by the Courier's machinations), Stu Macher, Tony Soprano, and Tyler Durden
Will keep coming back regardless of how many times they die: Candyman, Freddy Krueger, Ganon, the Ghostface identity, Jason Voorhees, Li'l Slugger (as a representation of Japan's refusal to own up to their World War II atrocities), Mr. Wriggles (is the Devil), Pazuzu, Pinhead, and Yu Yevon
Is not a living being: The Cordyceps, INGSOC, Norsefire, and the Weyland-Yutani Corporation
Dead (natural causes): The Anti-Osage Conspiracy (all of them are dead or on the way to dying by now), Ernest Burkhart (dies of old age in a rat-infested mobile home), Jack Torrance (movie), the Joker (Arkham, succumbs to Titan poisoning at the end of Arkham City), Logan Roy, Max Cady, Michael Corleone, Roy Batty, Vito Corleone (dies of a heart attack while playing with his grandson), and William Hale (dies in a nursing home of old age)
Dead (accidental): Claude Frollo, Green Goblin (Raimi Trilogy), Jack (The House That Jack Built), Jon Holt, Roland Bishop, Syndrome, Talia al Ghul, and Walter White
Dead (suicide): Andrew Ryan, the Cult of Abraxas (engage in ritual suicide), Dutch Van Der Linde, Imhotep, Jack Torrance (book duology), Julian Slowik, Lee Woo-Jin, Lord Shen (lets himself get crushed by his cannon), Mr. White (commits suicide by cop), Samuel Norton, and William Foster
Dead (killed by someone): Albert Wesker, Alex Forrest, Alonzo Harris, Amon Goeth, Anakin Skywalker, Angel Eyes, Annie Wilkes, the Armitage Family, Asami Yamazaki, Bane, Barry Berkman, Bill (Kill Bill), Bill the Butcher, Billy Chapman, Bob Barnes, Buffalo Bill, Calvin Candie, Carl Showalter (is chopped to pieces and fed to a wood chipper by Gaear Grimsrude), Carmine Falcone, Castor Troy, Commodus, Count Dooku, Damien Thorn, Darth Maul, David (The Last of Us), Dexter Morgan, El Indio (loses a showdown at high noon against Douglas Mortimer), Elijah Glass, Elliot Spencer, Eren Yeager (is decapitated after an extensive fight with the rest of humanity), Erik Killmonger, Euron Greyjoy (Game of Thrones, dies from a duel with Jaime Lannister), FEDRA, Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen (is stabbed through the brain by Paul Atreides in a duel), the Fireflies, Frances Dolarhyde, Frank Booth, Frank Costello, General Grievous (is shot in his organic parts by Obi-Wan Kenobi), the Ghostface killers, Glossu Rabhan (is slain and beheaded by the Freemen of Arakeen), Gus Fring, HAL 9000, Hans Gruber, Howard Stambler, Hoyt Volker, humanity pre-The Matrix, the Hunters, Immortan Joe, Iosef Tarasov (is ambushed and unceremoniously shot in the head by John Wick), Jack Horner, Jeremiah Sand, Jigsaw, Joe Cabot (dies trying to kill the rat in his organization), Joel Miller, Joffrey Baratheon, John Doe, Judge Doom, Kefka Palazzo, Koba, Lalo Salamanca, Leatherface (original duology), the LeDomas Family, Light Yagami, Lilly (is killed by a hallucinating Jack Delroy), Little Bill Daggett, Lorne Malvo (gets caught in a bear trap and then put down by Gus Grimly), Makima (is cut into pieces and eaten by Denji over the course of a week or so), Margaret White, Michael Myers (most versions), Mr. Blonde (gets pumped full of lead by Mr. Orange), Mr. Blue (is murdered offscreen by unknown methods), Mr. Brown (eventually succumbs to a gunshot wound to the head), Ned Logan, Nice Guy Eddie (dies trying to avenge Joe), Norman Stansfield, the Overlook Hotel, Pamela Voorhees, Pennywise, Perkins (is executed by the Continental staff for killing on their premises), President Snow (is trampled by an angry mob), Ramsay Bolton (Game of Thrones, is torn apart by his own dogs), Raoul Silva, Ra's al Ghul, Raymond Cocteau, Richmond Valentine, Sauron, Scar, Sheev Palpatine, Silco (is shot by Jinx), Simon Phoenix, SKYNET, Stephen (Django Unchained), Stringer Bell, Thanos, Thomas Wake, Todd Alquist (is strangled to death by Jesse Pinkman), Tommy DeSimone/Devito, Tony Montana, Tywin Lannister, V (gets killed in a shootout in the movie and gets impaled by a thrown blade in the comics), Vaas Montenegro, Vidal, Viggo Tarasov (succumbs to his injuries from fighting John Wick), Vincent (Collateral), Vincent Vega, Vladimir Harkonnen, Voldemort, Walter Finch, Walter Kurtz, Will Dormer, and Zed

Shampoo: I have yet to try many shampoo products, but I use this one product, and it's pretty decent.

2024.05.20 05:22 Ashamed_Driver_76 Binding?

Binding?
I’ve 90% finished this top as a baby shower gift for a friend.
Just need to square up and sew a victory lap around the outer edge to prevent bits flipping up while quilting.
I’m thinking about doing a striped rainbow binding (see second photo) but am worried it’s a bit too saturated in colour. Thoughts?
Will be a black with big bold white spots background for backing
It’s also for a baby boy but I have absolutely zero interest in “boy prints” or colours. Rainbow is life- no sad beige babies here and I know my friend will love it- she’s a crochet’er so will appreciate the work and time that goes into any handmade item (even if the squares don’t perfectly line up)

2024.05.20 05:01 rabidcabbages Easy / comfy carrier for Disney, 24lb 13m old

Hi! We are going to Disney in about 2.5 months. My son is currently 13m and 23.5 lbs, also 32” long so pretty tall for his age. I use the Tush baby for errands and around the house when I’m tired but I can never get it tight / high enough for long term wearing, I’m looking for something sturdier for Disney. His dad wears the monbebe Lynx 5 in 1 that was gifted to us at our shower. I find it has way too many straps and things you can adjust that it makes it complicated to swap between he and I wearing it, our son also kinda slides to the side and seems a big awkward in it when the straps are pulled tight enough? Anyway I am looking into the LÍLLÉbaby 3-in-1 Ergonomic CarryOn Airflow - Toddler Carrier, I’m drawn to it because looks like one big panel with straps being the only adjustment, and that he can wear it up to 45lb! I want something easy to put on that will last us past this trip. Any other recommendations welcome!! I’m going to purchase something soon to try it out for a month or so prior to the vacation :)
