Please note "opinion" is in all caps because it is simply that: an opinion. But bear with me because I think a lot of us DF needs some sage advice on this... including and especially myself. 🥴 I know it's long but hang with me for a min.
So I have noticed a theme here. Not all inclusive, but definitely a large majority: Many DF's whether male or female have anxious attachment styles. Anxious attachment says that when we find something or someone really great we must cling, cling, cling lest it will go away and we will be abandoned. And when/if it goes away, the very first thing we ask ourselves is "why was I not good enough? What did I do wrong? How can I get it back? What is wrong with me?" Because we have tethered our self-worth to another human being and now they are gone. The validation they were providing of our worthiness and lovability has vanished and left us with a gaping hole in our very core. I remember being so desperate to have this man back in ANY capacity, I probably would've given up limbs and internal organs to make it happen. Certainly would've paid every cent in my bank account.
And DMs, well, they've been shown time and time again that when something seems too good be true, it usually is. From a young age, they have been shown that having needs and emotions isn't well-received from caregivers. So when sh*t gets real, or they start feeling those overwhelming surges of love, they panic. They discard it because those feelings equal danger in their inner climate. If they are "out of control" of their emotions it forces them to be vulnerable. Vulnerability means they are bound to be hurt. So they throw love away on their terms..where it's safe. This is an avoidant attachment behavior. So rather than address themselves, or be accountable for their flaky behavior they will stonewall when pressed on their hot and cold mannerisms. Shut down. Dive into work, substances, karmic relationships... whatever takes the heat off of themselves and their own inner issues with receiving love. Because in their mind, if they were to relinquish control and the upper hand, the only outcome is abandonment/betrayal and pain.
Both of these situations are truly heartbreaking I have compassion for both sides of the coin. We are all healing some major major lifestyles when confronted writh this journey. The DF the ability to harness unconditional love for self, and the DM confronting the inability to receieve love from others...amongst about a million other things for the both of us. Iykyk.
I just I want you to know, fellow anxious attachers: we survived !! We made it through the other side of one of our very worst fears... being vulnerable and fully immersed in love and then abandoned and betrayed in the midst of it. Not only did we survive, but we are learning how to THRIVE AND show compassion and love to the very people who perpetrated that pain in our lives.This showed us the radiance of our own inner being. How capable, wonderful, loving, and STRONG we are. Do you see how incredible this is?! What other journey would have asked us to love so fully the very cause of our deepest pain? This is the unpopular bit here: Just like you had to heal this alllll on your own, with no help from your DM...your DM has to confront their shadows all on their own too. You can't force healing, you can't do it for them, you can't make them "see the light."
They have to do this themselves. On their timeline. In their way. On their terms. Just like the universe had your back the whole time, just like it constantly reminded you of this person over and over and over again with signs and syncs. Can you trust it is doing the same with your DM? You don't have to worry about a thing! ✨️ Trust that as equally as you were guided (even despite your great resistance at times) to liberation and LOVE, so is your DM. Release it all! Stay in your lane sweet soul.
Ever had a close loved one suffer with drug addiction or alcoholism? You love them immensely and you see them in this horrible cycle of self-destruction. We want to save them from themselves. You've tried the hands-on approach and somehow it only enabled them to sink further into their own misery?
This is not very different from that scenario. Sending the text, hanging out on the back burner pining away for your twin, writing letters emails cards, watching the stories, posting the thirsty @ss quotes and songs on social media...is enabling your twin to stay in their shadows. Why would they come out from where it's "safe" when what they are doing is working in their eyes? Here they are running like an Olympian, and here you are pining away for them still. Despite their horrible treatment and behavior at times. Stop it! Stop enabling harmful behaviors. Both our ways of acting are unhealthy. We are here to bring a new paradigm of relationships. We've done our part, let them do theirs. You are unforgettable. What you had together is unforgettable. It is designed this way. Trust it! You will not be forgotten in the dust.
Does this sound cold and unloving? If your answer is yes, DIG DEEPER. Love yourself even more. Because there you will find exactly how you deserve and long to be loved and treated by a life partner and you will never settle for less again. You will also see that just as an addict has to hit rock bottom, so does your twin. Just how we had to face our rock bottom and claw our way out of the pits of h€ll back home to ourselves...all by ourselves, with no help from those we love most: so do our twins. In this trial we learned of our strength and fortitude..so will they.
It is THE MOST radical act of unconditional love to let those we care about learn their own lessons. It doesn't seem like that at first but it is. And, too, unconditional love for yourself means you don't simp over the bare minimum..no matter how much you love and long for them. Love them completely and wholly, but love yourself too and liberate yourself from the waiting and pining game. All is in divine order. When you let go of the need to control anything other than yourself and your own healing, life really does get lighter and more magical as a result. The muddy waters clear and it's just you in your most radiant expression.

I’ve never been a big gamer, but when I found Starfighter Assault I fell in love with it. I’ve played for about an hour a day for the past year or so, and in that time I’ve gone from complete novice to expert enough to win most of the games I play (unless playing against the likes of EndymionAC, TonyWarsX or MarcelloPozzi, in which case you likely have no chance). There is a HUGE learning curve in this game, and I wish there had been a guide like this when I first started playing because it’s very nuanced and there are lots of features that can take a long time to figure out, let alone master. It can be very frustrating as a beginner, but if you stick with it it’s pretty awesome. Take a look at this guide and please add your own thoughts! I still find that I’m learning new ways to use ships, new things about maps, and new flying/control techniques.
A side note, and it must be said, there are some big gripes with this game. There have been no new maps or ships in years, occasional long wait times in lobbies, you’re forced to start in the middle of a game instead of having the option to wait to start at the beginning, and every once in a while I’ll get booted from a game for no reason (does anyone else have this problem??), but to me the game play is second to none and is still tons of fun.
Tips for Different Player Skill Levels:
Beginner - when you first start playing you’re probably going to get killed… a lot. It can take a long time to get used to all the controls, abilities, learn how to aim and not crash into everything. It can be very frustrating, but if you can stick with it becomes an awesome game to play.
I would suggest by starting simple. Play as the Fighter or Bomber class and go after the objectives, AI bot ships and stationary targets like turrets. When you first start, playing Starfighter Assault is probably going to feel like a chaotic, overwhelming experience because everything moves so fast and there’s so much going on, but once you start playing for a while the game starts to slow down and you begin to figure out just what the hell is going on.
The Fighter and Bomber classes are great because as you’re learning to fly and aim, you can use your missiles to hit ships and other targets without having to always use your main weapon. When shooting your main weapon, you’re actually not aiming for the ship you see, you’re aiming for the small red circle in front of the ship. It can be pretty tricky, but once you get used to it you’ll actually be able to get some kills. As the Y-Wing bomber, use the Ion Cannon to hit an enemy to slow them down and then target them with your main weapon and/or missiles. The Dark Side bombers have a main missile and a secondary missile (that shoots 3 missiles at once), so lots of opportunities to get points. I wouldn’t even bother with the Interceptor class at this stage, but go for it if you want.
It will be pretty hard to get kills as a beginner, and you’ll probably get killed and fly into things a lot, but stick with it and it gets to be a lot of fun. The first time you get a kill or destroy an objective is pretty awesome. If you’re able to rack up enough Battle Points (2,000) to get a Hero Ship, go with Luke’s X-Wing or Yoda for the Light Side and either Boba Fett’s Slave I or Iden Verso’s Tie Fighter (if you’re in a map with other Tie Fighters) for the Dark Side. You’ll probably still get killed pretty quickly, but Luke’s missiles are excellent and aim almost instantaneously so you can actually get some kills. Yoda is very hard to kill since his ship is so small and it regenerates health pretty quickly. Slave I is probably the coolest ship in the game, and his Seismic Charge is definitely the best weapon in the game. Drop that around some enemies and you’ll probably get a few kills, just watch out because you’ll be a target for everyone on the map. I think Iden Verso’s Tie Fighter is actually one of the worst (if not the worst) Hero Ships, but if you’re a beginner playing in a map with other Tie Fighters it blends in really well, so you’ll actually have some time to play it and you won’t be targeted by everyone trying to kill a Hero Ship.
As a beginner, the more you play the more you earn the ability to get Star Cards, which are basically ways to improve your ships. For the Fighter class I would recommend starting with Fighter Defensive Upgrade and Reinforced Hull so you don’t die as quickly and Advanced Torpedoes and Targeting Computer so your missiles are better. Fighter Weapon Systems is also great for the Light Side ARC-170 ship because it helps the Turret Gunner ability, which auto-shoots enemies behind you and you get kills just by just flying around. For the Bomber Class I would recommend Targeting Computer and Reinforced Hull, and for the Light Side Bomber Weapon System (more Ion Cannon active time is great) and for the Dark Side Bomber Defensive Upgrade (you can’t be targeted when it’s active, making you very hard to kill).
One more note. Just because there’s a missile coming for you doesn’t mean you need to freak out and do everything you can to evade it. One missile won’t kill you, even in a Fighter, and if you’re playing Light Side you have health regeneration. Bombers can take a few missiles before being killed, and if you’re playing Dark Side, the Boost ability automatically breaks a missile lock (it took me an embarrassingly long time to figure that out).
Intermediate - You’ll know you’ve reached this stage when you’ve gotten a decent handle on the controls, you can actually aim for the little red circle in front of a ship and you can reach 2,000 Battle Points often enough to get a Hero Ship. This is when the game starts to become a lot of fun. You can learn the different abilities and nuances of the Interceptor, Fighter and Bomber classes and the different maps and play around with the Hero Ships. You’ll probably place top 5 occasionally and maybe even win a game! It’s a pretty cool feeling.
It was around this stage that I started to play around with some of the controls. You can change the Starfighter Response Curve, Stick Deadzone and Advanced Flight, for example, to give you better control of your ship. The biggest thing I worked on in this stage was the Zoom feature, which was a total game changer. It’s hard enough to hit the little red circle in front of a ship, but it’s much easier when you zoom in first. This takes a lot of practice when you’re flying around and trying not to get hit, and you’ll probably crash into things much more often as you get used to it because it narrows your field of vision. Once you’ve mastered this to get kills though, you’re probably entering the Expert stage.
Expert - I think everyone has a different definition of expert, but once you start regularly getting top 5, winning somewhat often, maxing out your Star Cards, etc., you’re probably well on your way. In this stage you know the intricacies of all the maps, ships and Hero Ships, etc. The biggest thing to master at this stage is your flying and especially turning. Instead of just turning in a wide arc, to turn more sharply you first roll your ship then pull up. To turn left, roll left 90 degrees, then pull up. To turn right, roll right 90 degrees, then up. This makes your turns much sharper and is another real game changer.
Tips and Breakdown of Starfighter Types
Interceptor - When you’re in the mood to really go fast this is quite a ship. Interceptors zip around like crazy, are great for dogfighting and still really good for hitting objectives, turrets, etc. if you know how to use them. My favorite Star Cards are Advanced Capacitors, Fire Control Center and Tuned Lasers for the Light Side. They dramatically increase the offensive weapons and you can take out turrets, Bombers, etc. in one run. I rarely use the Interceptor for Dark Side (even though it looks cool as hell in Galactic Empire), except for the Tri Fighter because they have so little health and I think the Tie Fighter has better overall features.
Fighter - In my opinion a good beginner or intermediate ship because it does a little bit of everything. You can mix and match the Star Cards given your preferences and it can do a lot.
Bomber - Y Wing Bombers are excellent when you max out the Ion Cannon Star Card. It gives you 10 seconds of Ion Cannon! It makes it an excellent offensive weapon and great for killing Hero Ships. Start by honing in one, and as soon as it turns red turn on your Ion Cannon. Zoom in and hit it with your main weapon and your Ion Cannon, then hit it with missiles. As long as the Hero Ship can’t hide behind something you’ll very likely take it out. Dark Side bombers are pretty hard to kill, especially when you max out the Bomber Defensive Upgrade Star Card. They are great for bombing runs, and if you’re patient enough and a good enough pilot you can take out a Millennium Falcon just by following it and bombarding it with missiles.
Hero Ships
There are other, better posts detailing all the intricacies of the Hero Ships, like this onebut here’s my general take.
Hero Ships make the game a lot of fun, especially when you’re a better player. As a beginner you either don’t get enough points to get one, or you get one and then die right away, which can make them very frustrating. The most fun I had as a beginner was using Luke’s X Wing to chase down Slave 1 and pelt him with missiles, fly the Millenium Falcon for just long enough to destroy some objectives before being killed and use Slave 1’s Seismic Charge. The better you get, though, the more fun you have playing around with them. Here’s my general tier list for Hero Ships.
Light Side:
Tier 1
Poe Dameron’s X Wing - Poe’s X Wing is great because it has a powerful main weapon with very good aim assist, good health, a boost which can get you out of trouble, decent missiles, and, incredibly, you rack up Battle Points like a normal ship, not a Hero Ship, so getting back to 2,000 points if you die is much easier.
Yoda’s ACTIC class light interceptor - Yoda ship is very hard to kill, and it’s basically like a souped-up Interceptor (better than Tallie Lintra’s A Wing). It regenerates health very quickly, using the Ion Pulse gets you lots of kill assists, and the main weapon is pretty powerful if you can hit a target with the whole burst.
Tier 2
Luke’s X Wing - Luke’s X Wing has good health and health regeneration, excellent missiles, blends in really well on any map with X Wings, and a strong main weapon (although very low aim assist).
Lando’s Millenium Falcon - This has excellent health (it better, it’s a flying dinner plate), a very good main weapon, good maneuverability, and an awesome boost. Like any Millenium Falcon, though, you’re a target for everyone in the game the moment you show up.
Tallie Lintra’s A Wing - Her weapons kind of suck (you could debate this ship goes in a lower tier, mostly because of this), but she’s incredibly maneuverable (the highest turn rate in the game with the right Star Cards), and that combined with her health regeneration make her very hard to kill. She also gets Battle Points like a normal ship which is a huge plus.
Han’s Millenium Falcon - You could debate this goes in a lower tier, but Han’s primary weapons put it over the top for me. They’re easily the most powerful in the game (except for maybe a loaded-up Darth Maul), and has good missiles and decent maneuverability. Still, the moment you show up you’ll be attacked by almost everyone in the game.
Tier 3
Rey’s Millenium Falcon - This ship is terrible, I have no idea why it’s included in the game. Its primary weapon sucks and its only other ability is health regeneration, which basically makes you last a little longer before you inevitably get killed. There’s no reason the game needs THREE Millenium Falcons, and certainly not one as awful as this.
*Dark Side: *
Tier One
Boba Fett’s Slave I - This is probably my favorite ship in the game. When you master it you can go an entire game without being killed, and it’s not uncommon to win by double the points of the second place finisher if you use it right. My favorite Star Cards are Heavy Seismic Charge, Relentless Pursuer and Repair Systems, which increase the Seismic Charge’s blast radius by 70% (!!!), make it much more maneuverable and regenerate health more quickly, making it a lot harder to kill. Slave I is all about hide and attack, so when the Seismic Charge is ready get as close to the action or find a rebel ship with lots of turrets and let it rip (pro-tip, to get maximum damage on a Rebel Cruiser or Blockade Runner, fly right in front of it and drop the Seismic Charge, it will explode in the middle of the ship, destroying most or all of its turrets). Then, get away from the action and try to pick off other ships on their own with your Ion Cannon, main weapon and missiles. Beware of Y Wings, a hit from their Ion Cannon will slow you down, prevent you from using your Seismic Charge, and leave you easy pickings to be killed.
Kylo Ren’s Tie Silencer – A highly maneuverable ship with excellent main weapons and excellent missiles (they just take forever to launch). This is like driving a Ferrari, it has very quick handling so it takes a while to get used to, but in the right hands it’s almost unstoppable. Try not to get too far out in the open, a Y Wing with a decent pilot can take you out pretty easily if you’re not careful.
Darth Maul’s Scimitar – This is a great Hero Ship for an intermediate player because of it’s very strong main weapon and cloaking device. Like the other Hero Ships, beware of a Y Wing because they can take you out quickly. With the right Star Cards (Fire Control Cycler, Furious Attacker, Deadly Ambusher) it may have the strongest main weapon in the game, giving you a 4 second full burst that can destroy just about any enemy and deal a ton of damage to any objective. Tier 2:
Darth Vader’s TIE Advanced x1 – A decent overall Hero Ship. It’s small and quick so it’s hard to hit, but it has only decent health and health regeneration. Its main weapon isn’t that powerful, and it’s special ability, Overwhelming Barrage, takes a second to start, making it harder to hit an enemy, and you have to pretty much stay in a straight line if using it against an objective, making you an easier target to hit. As a skilled pilot it’s still a lot of fun to use, and it’s great for taking down Millenium Falcons.
Tier 3:
Iden Verso’s TIE/IN fighter – Every time I use this ship I end up hating it. It’s basically a TIE fighter with better health and weapons, which just makes it… okay? Its main weapon isn’t great, its missiles are just decent, it’s health regenerates slowly, and it’s Laser Barrage isn’t great. Its best features are that it blends in really well with other TIE fighters and you gain Battle Points like a normal ship, not a Hero Ship, but that just means you die and get to… play as it again? Why would you want to do that?

Kamino: Research Outpost
Dark Side on offense, attacking the control towers of a Light Side ship, then three Rebel Cruisers, and finally the Main Weapon and Engines of a ship.
For the Dark Side, my favorite strategy is playing as a Tri-Fighter and hitting turrets and objectives. When done right, you can get 400+ points in one run, although you’re very susceptible to getting hit. Once you get enough points for a Hero Ship, get Slave I and drop your Seismic Charge around objectives (where lots of enemies are also flying) and in front of Rebel Cruisers, and then hide underneath all the towers until you’ve recharged. I’ve probably gotten my highest scores of all time playing as Slave I on this map. A fun second option is using a souped-up Scimitar to just annihilate Rebel Cruisers.
For the Light Side, play as the ARC-170 Fighter or BLT-B Y-Wing, fly around the objectives and take out Dark Side fighters as they attack. Pretty simple, just pick them off as best you can.
Ryloth: Lucrehulk Battleship
Light Side on offence, attacking different parts and then the core of a giant battleship. Flying inside the core is pretty sweet, and you can fly underneath the Lucrehulk Battleship to get away from enemies. Bonus, stay inside the battlecruiser after the doors close and see what happens!
For the Dark Side, start as a Tri-Fighter or Vulture Droid and hit the turrets on the Rebel Cruiser, then go all out on all the fighter and Rebel Cruiser targets you can find. Destroying the Rebel Cruisers gets you lots of points, and there’s a lots of turrets across the map to hit.
For the Light Side, there are lots of hidden turrets to the left and right of the entrance of the main objectives as the game starts. Usually you’ll be left alone to destroy them, and you can get close to the 2,000 Battle Points you need for a Hero Ship just by taking them out. In the later phases there are multiple objectives to hit, and flying into the Lucrehulk Battlecruiser is a little tricky at first.
Endor: Death Star Debris
Dark Side on offense, fly through debris to destroy three Rebel Frigates, then stationary mines, and then a Star Cruiser (it’s a trap!). As a beginner this can be a very frustrating map because of all the things you can crash into, but as you can navigate them better it becomes a lot of fun.
For the Dark Side, I usually play as a Bomber, turn on the Defensive Countermeasures when I’m close to an objective, and then fly through debris hitting whatever I can. There are lots of targets to hit, and it’s a lot of fun playing as Slave I when you’re good enough to navigate the debris. Just fly through dropping Seismic Charges whenever you can.
For the Light Side, I usually play as a Y-Wing Bomber, turn on the Ion Cannons and take out whatever I can (there are lots of turrets on the Star Destroyer to hit at the beginning). This is a good map for just about any Hero Ship, there’s lots of cover to hide behind and different ways to play depending on your style.
Fondor: Imperial Shipyard
Light Side on offence, first destroying two Dark Side Cruisers, then flying inside the shipyard to take out objectives, and finally hitting different parts of the docked Star Destroyer to destroy it. Maybe my favorite map to play, especially as the Light Side, as there are things to hit literally everywhere. Pro-tip, you can fly under the Shipyard and there’s a smaller, more secret entranceway under the main shipyard entrance to get you there.
For the Dark Side, start with whatever ship you want and just go all out trying to destroy the fighters that will be flying around you. Lots of great hiding spots throughout the map. Big pet peeve, there’s glitch with the Rebel Frigates in the second phase and you don’t get any points for hitting them. Lame.
For the Light Side, just go ham. There are targets eeeeverywhere. Turrets suspended in the middle of the map, turrets along the main shipyard in the beginning of the game, different types turrets on top of, next to, and underneath the Star Destroyer, etc., and then all the objectives. I usually start as a Y-Wing and take out as many turrets as I can to start, and if you know where to go it’s not hard to get to 2,000 Battle Points. Pretty much any Hero Ship is good in the map because there are so many targets and so many places to hide. Pro-Tip, fly underneath the Star Destroyer, especially early in the game, and you can take out the dozens of turrets sitting there, usually without being bothered by any fighters.
D’Qar: Resistance Base Evacuation
Dark Side on offence, destroying objectives by attacking outside and then inside different floating features, then destroying Rebel Cruisers, and finally taking out Light Side Fighters. This map can be extremely frustrating, especially as a beginner, because you frequently get killed trying to fly inside the objectives and energy blasts will randomly pop up, launching your starfighter all over the map and blocking you from shooting enemies. I’ve gone through multiple phases of enjoying and hating this map.
For the Dark Side, there are lots of easy objectives to hit at the beginning, and hitting the Rebel Cruisers is pretty easy. Flying inside the tunnels to hit the objectives in the second phase sucks, but you feel really good about yourself when you make it through without dying, so that’s a plus. This is another good map for just about any Hero Ship if you can navigate the debris.
For the Light Side, just attack as many Dark Side ships as you can. Try not to fly into anything!
Unknown Regions: Resurgent Star Destroyer
Light Side on offense, first destroying objectives inside the Star Destroyer (cool), you can even fly inside the Star Destroyer (cooler), then destroying fleeing transport ships and finally different objectives on the ship to eventually destroy it. Possibly my favorite map to play as the Light Side, when you get good enough at playing as the A Wing Interceptor it’s like shooting Tie Fighters in a barrel, they come straight at you in the first phase.
For the Dark Side, prepare to be in a chaotic firefight, especially at the beginning of the game. There’s a Rebel Cruiser flying around, and if you have some lazy opponents you can get behind it (or even hidden partially inside it) and rack up Battle Points shooting it and the turrets on top of it. Hiding in the asteroid field or under the Star Destroyer is great to get a break if you’re a Hero Ship in trouble, especially for Slave I, where you can just bide your time until your Seismic Charge is ready again.
For the Light Side, this is a lot of fun once you get good. Tie Fighters fly right at you at the beginning of the game, you can fly inside the Star Destroyer to take out the objectives (or just for fun), there are turrets all along the side (although they’re almost impossible to see) and underneath of the Star Destroyer, and destroying the numerous transport ships and smaller objectives isn’t that hard and gets you lots of points. Pretty much any Hero Ship is good in the map because there are so many targets and lots of ways to hide.

Hi there,
according to my tests, the standalone GlideN64 emulator is slightly faster than retroarch with mupen64plus_next core while providing similar visual results. As the R36S is already struggeling hard with N64 emulation, this slight advantage is often just enough to make the difference between stutter and full speed gameplay.
Unfortunately, the standalone emulator configuration is hidden away in /home/ark/.config/mupen64plus/mupen64plus.cfg , so it's really annoying to modify emulation options on the go. To work around this limitation, I decided to use the ES emulator core option to define performance presets, which I'd like to share here, maybe they are useful to someone else as well:

The default performance profile is fast enough to run many (not all) PAL games at full speed. Balanced should resolve most graphical issues, but is significantly slower and will only be usable for few games.

Dad and I arrived back in the hallway outside the living apartment, and without missing a beat, I separated myself from Dad and went inside. Dad was half a step behind me, but I reached the living room first since he had shoes to kick off, and I didn’t.
I’d forgotten Levi and young Maddy were staying over, and when I saw them on the sofa watching cartoons, I grinned at them both. “Hey, sweetie. Where’s my hug?” I asked, going down on one knee with my arms open wide.
“Awww, I don’t know, honeybun,” Levi cajoled, even as his daughter leapt to her feet and ran to give me a proper hug. “The boot makes it difficult to get up.”
“Don’t quit your day job,” I jeered over Maddy’s shoulder, then lifted her up and carried her back to her father.
“All day and night job,” Levi corrected because he could be that annoying.
And then Dad walked in, sucking all social niceties out of the room. I could understand Levi and Maddy’s apprehension. Dad was marginally taller than Boyd, almost as wide, and intimidation came second nature to him. I had to do something to break the ice. “Levi, did you meet my dad yesterday at the party?”
At that, Levi seemed to snap out of it and struggled to his feet. “Sir,” he said, hobbling forward with his hand outstretched. “I wanted to thank you for letting us stay over last night…”
Dad accepted the handshake, for which I was grateful. He was just as likely to look at it like Levi had leprosy. “It wasn’t my decision. That end of the apartment is Robbie’s domain.”
“That may be true, but you’re still the overall owner, and I prefer to have your approval when it comes to letting my daughter stay the night at times when her uncle and I are pulled into work together. It shouldn’t happen often. She’s three-and-a-half, and it’s only happened once in her lifetime…”
“What did you do then?” I asked, unable to help myself.
“Shar—Charlie took her for the night. Luckily, it was a two-in-the-morning call-out, and she was home. I don’t think she was much good to her boss the following day, though.”
“Sam’s mother is pregnant,” Dad declared, and inwardly, I winced, having a fair idea of what was coming next.
“I heard that. Congratulations, Mister Arnav.”
“Thank you. My point is…”
“Finish that sentence in any other way than ‘it’s not a problem’, and you’re going to be finding out how comfortable the couch is for a week, boo,” Mom said from the hallway leading to our side of the apartment.
She could move like a ghost when she wanted to, and none of us had heard her come in.
Dad turned to her. “Ivy…”
Mom walked through the living room, pushing Dad back to stand before Levi. “Maddy is welcome here anytime you need a babysitter, Levi.” She made the statement sound so final; I was surprised when she turned back to Dad and said, “Isn’t that right, Llyr?” Her eyebrow arched sharply, daring him to contradict her.
That was not what Dad wanted, and a blind man with a broken cane could’ve seen that. I had to wonder how his precious family mantra would handle this without losing face.
I wasn’t kept waiting long.
“Levi, I have no problem with your daughter visiting her aunt and uncle as often or for as long as you need. However, Ivy’s health is precious to me, and should anything happen to her or the three babies she’s carrying as a result of Maddy not doing as she’s told, what happens next will be on you. You know your child better than I do. If she is asked to stay out of a space, is she likely to do it, or be curious enough to think that the mandate is merely a suggestion to be ignored?”
I saw Levi take stock of the words and hear the enormity of the threat interlaced with them. “I respect your forthrightness,” he began. “And Maddy’s a good girl. She'll stay away if she’s told to stay away from something. But accidents happen all the time, Mister Arnav, and I don’t appreciate the rest of what you’re insinuating.”
“Sometimes, children think things are funny without understanding the dangers involved,” Mom said, bulldozing her way into the conversation as only she could. “Some are more prone to being more hands-on than others. Llyr doesn’t know Maddy, and for his sake, I’m going to assume he was more concerned with Maddy possibly being the type of child who thinks playing bumper cars with ‘the fat lady’ is funny.”
Levi’s expression was a blend of disbelief and denial. “Oh, she’d never do that. If anything, she’d curl up beside you and read stories to your stomach. She knows what a pregnancy is.”
Since the Titans had already squared off, I went down the other side of the coffee table and slid into the seat beside Maddy. “Did you have a good sleep?” I asked, trying to distract her from the most civilised argument in history.
“I nearly peed on Daddy,” she said.
I was glad I hadn’t been drinking, for the snort alone almost choked me.
Which, of course, had all three adults turning towards me. I raised my hand and shook my head, hoping they’d understand I hadn’t laughed at them. “I’m glad you didn’t,” I said once they started talking amongst themselves again. “I don’t think Daddy would’ve had anything else to get changed into.”
“Unca Lucas’s gettin’ stuff f’r us.”
That answered a question I didn’t know to ask. “How come you nearly peed on Daddy anyway?”
“I’s stuck. Door stuck.”
I strongly doubted if any of the doors in the apartment would ever be stuck. Locked, sure, but…. Oh! “Daddy stopped you from getting out last night, didn’t he?”
Maddy made an agreeable humming noise.
The apartment’s front door opened, and from where I was sitting, I saw Lucas struggle through the opening with his arms full of bags. “Hey, I’m home,” he called out, just like he always did.
“UNCA LUCAS!” Maddy squealed and scrambled over me to run down the length of the coffee table, avoiding her father and my parents because she was a smart little kid.
Lucas had just enough time to dump the bags and pretend to oomph as she slammed into him, and then he lifted her off the ground.
“That’s exactly what I’m talking about,” Dad insisted, gesturing towards them. “She can’t do that to Ivy right now.”
“And she won’t,” Levi shot back. “Look, it’s okay if you don’t want her here…”
“Wait, what?” Lucas demanded, catching up really quickly. He glanced at me, and after I rolled my hands and shook my head in a ‘don’t look at me’ gesture, he decided to weigh in. “Levi and Austin are both first responders, and if and when it happens that they both get called in together, every minute wasted costs more lives. Robbie, Charlie, Boyd, and I have all said she can stay with us if necessary, even if that means putting up a dividing door in the hallway on our side to keep her away from Miss W. It’s what family does.”
“Just try to separate us,” Mom growled, then turned on Dad. “Maddy is adorable, and you ought to be ashamed of yourself, picking on a defenceless child.”
“I’m not going to sugarcoat my priorities, Ivy. I’ve already said I don’t mind if she stays.”
Lucas looked from one to the next in confusion. “Then what’s the problem?”
“Mister Arnav said that right on the heels of threatening Maddy,” his brother answered.
I saw the argument was about to ramp up again, so I jumped up and went over to Lucas, working my hands around his arm to take Maddy from him. “I’m just going to take Maddy into my office…” I said, determined to remove her from the scene.
Lucas twisted so that his back was to the wall with the TV. “In one of those bags are some toys and games for Maddy.”
“Luke!” Levi reprimanded, even as Maddy heard the magic words and squealed, shimmying to lunge from her uncle to me.
“Relax, bro. Board games and books and the like. Not all of us are millionaires.”
With Maddy in my hands, I put her down in the alcove. And like all kids everywhere, she was off like a bloodhound searching through the bags, discarding anything that didn’t meet the criteria of ‘fun’. She held up three stuffed bags, and even I saw the edges of the board games sticking out.
“Okay,” I said, sliding the bigger two into my hand. Maddy clung to the soft, puffy bag, and I thought I saw toy fur poking out the top. Boardgames and books, my ass, I mused to myself.
We went past the adults, but as I reached the office, I turned and asked Maddy, “Should we see if Geraldine wants to play?”
“Who dat?” she asked in return.
“My girlfriend. Would you like to meet her?”
Maddy shook her head shyly.
“Awwww, come on. She loves to play board games.” I had no idea if Gerry even liked that sort of thing or not, but I’d left her alone too long already and at the very least, I was going to check on her and let her know I was back.
We reached my bedroom door with a little more coaxing, and I opened it without knocking. Gerry was sitting in the reading nook, her favourite place to be when she was alone, and I saw her curled up around her tablet reading. Her head came up when I opened the door, and her smile was wide. “You’re home,” she said, dropping the tablet onto the small table used for it and snacks. She came over and hugged me, then pulled back when she saw Maddy.
“Well, hello,” she said with a welcoming smile as she squatted down to be at Maddy’s height. “You must be Maddy, right?”
I had no idea how she knew who Maddy was, but I was ever so grateful for it since it drew Maddy out of her shell. “I’m gonna be a vet,” she declared like it was a done deal. “Like set, but wif a v.”
Gerry looked up at me, and I snickered. “Mason,” I whispered, for who else in the household could’ve set her on that path?
“And you’re going to be a great vet,” she agreed. “How come you’re down here with us?” She may have posed the question at Maddy and was looking directly at her, but I knew the question was more for me, so I answered instead.
“Mom, Dad, Levi, and Lucas are getting into it in the living room. I figured it was better that she’s not around to hear it.” I still planned to leave the door slightly ajar so Levi could find us when he was ready.
My girl, whom I already loved more than anything, smiled and never took her eyes off Maddy. “Well then, we need space to play. Do you want to help me make the bed? Cause it’s softer up there than down on the floor.”
The bed really should've been made before we went out, but we’d left in such a rush that I hadn’t thought about it. Gerry clapped her hands together for Maddy, who went straight to her. “Here,” she said, lifting Maddy up. “You help me on this side since this is the girls’ side, and Sam can do his side ’cause that’s the boys’ side, okay?”
It was crap, but I got the gist. As I grabbed the covers and pulled them up from my side, she had Maddy hold them from hers and between the three of us, they were straightened out in no time. “Okay, so what are we going to do first?”
Maddy squirmed out of Gerry’s arms and raced back to the bags, upending them on the carpeted floor.
“Oh, my goodness,” Gerry gasped, picking up the Candyland box. “I used to play this with my grandmother when I was a little girl.” She brought it to the bed and opened the box, oohing and ahhing over all the familiar characters.
I was lucky to have Gerry with us, for the bright colours and over-the-top cartoon smiles on all the characters weren’t doing anything for me. “Oh, this is different,” she said, lifting the sweet-shaped spinner out of the box. “My set only had cards to draw from.”
Given that the set-up consisted of a board, a spinner, and tokens, there wasn’t a whole lot to it.

it was just recently my birthday, and i asked for money. i know im very fortunate to have this oppurtunity in the first place and i feel awful venting about this. basically, i went on a shopping spree and spent 300+ dollars on 43 total packs, + another 10 from a gift from a friend. i know, not the best bang for my buck but i wanted as much variety of my favorite sets as i could get with what i had. i ended up pulling essentially nothing. i got a couple fullarts, but 90% of the cards i pulled were ones i either already had (i have VERY few TG/GG cards from SW+SH, so pulling the exact ones i already had, again) or cards I was totally disinterested in. for example. i had gotten 13 twilight masquerade packs in hopes i could pull ANY art rare. not a single one. one or two EXs, but that was it.
i get the whole point is gambling, and its pure chance, but im SO TIRED of not pulling anything at all. im seeing all of my friends who spend exponentially less on cards pull gold dialgas and arceus's, $50+ glaceon vstars twice, 6 galarian galleries in one ETB, and theyve been collecting for about a month. i started collecting when i was 6 years old and have yet to have pulled any card remotely as valuable as 50+ dollars (SARs, gold cards, etc) i think im just super duper unlucky and it sucks because i really enjoy the art on these cards and i love collecting stuff.
its not all bad, i open these products and stream it to my friends and at least theres enjoyment that theyre getting, but even they cant help but feel sorry for me when my shopping spree ends in 3 V cards i already own. it just sucks.
its probably bad for me to scroll through the subreddit and see hundreds of people posting their one pack snipes of greninja SIR, or a god pack of the charmeleon evo line, etc. im just so jealous that i cant pull anything myself, because pulling cards is half the fun

Had anyone tried out food anyone know of another archetype (water typically) that will blend with sharks?
I was thinking maybe frogs, mermail, maybe gishki? I know there's loads more but ice barrier is more of its own power I don't think it needs another archetype in the mix.

Question for those in later stages of recovery. How do you start to move on from what happened? What does moving on look and feel like? What emotional shifts take place when you're moving on?
Context: I've been in some deep trauma processing for the past 2 years. I've been in therapy for many years before this but focused mostly on stabilizing and making it through the present. My life is now safe. I have a stable job with room for growth. I have safe friends for the first time in my life probably, who also are stable themselves and dont shame me for having to learn things late because of the family I had. I have a safe place to live that I like. And also I feel a little dead inside? Like the energy I had for life 5 to 6 years ago is not there. My heart feels tired. I have forgiven my mom in the sense that I am no longer actively angry and hateful towards her but I'm still also deeply grieving. (Lots of emotional abuse/neglect and other abuses I won't mention, and estranged from family for 10yrs).
When do I start to get energy back for living in the present day?
I can track my triggers pretty well, and am trying to rejig my life so I have the resources I need to feel well. But I still get floored by some younger blended parts. I still expect ridicule from people. I still feel like I need to keep small to keep safe. I still shut down.
It's tiring. My oracle cards and tarot readings keep telling me it's time for rebirth and spring and adventuring out into the world. But I don't know how to start doing it? I want to hear from folks what it's like when you stop looking back and start looking forward. I don't want to lose my life to these people.

Hello folks,
I was digging around my RG35XXSP's stock OS today and figured out how to connect to it wirelessly through SSH and also Samba (e.g. access your device's MicroSD card through network drives). I was also able to get the features to persist through restarts so you won't have to enable them each time.
In other words, if you're using the stock OS but are a bit annoyed that you have to keep taking out the card just to make changes, these two features will allow you to manage it wirelessly while the card is still inserted into your RG35XXSP.

How it works
There are four files:

• ssh_disable.sh
• ssh_enable.sh
• samba_disable.sh
• samba_enable.sh

The RG35XXSP stock OS has the packages needed for SSH. But to my knowledge, Anbernic doesn't provide any built-in settings for users to enable it. ssh__enable.sh basically flips on a preexisting flag that will run additional lines to start up SSH on the next reboot. ssh_enable.sh will also start SSH services immediately after running without needing to reboot. From there, go to your computer, open WinSCP or an SFTP app of your choice, point it to your device's IP, use root and root for credentials, and you should be good to go with root level directory access. You can also connect to your RG35XXSP through SSH and run terminal commands by opening a command prompt on your computer and typing in: ssh root@
Samba unfortunately does not seem to be packaged with the stock OS, so samba_enable.sh will do an apt-get command to pull the necessary packages off the Internet in order to install it. Depending on your Internet speeds, that may take a few minutes. The script also initiates Samba services without having to reboot, and configures itself to automatically turn on after a reboot. Once the script finishes, you should be able to start accessing it through Windows by opening your start menu and typing in \\\ during which point you should be prompted for credentials, which are once again root and root.
I've set up two network shares: __sdcard which has the same hierarchy as when you access your MicroSD card's partition, and __root which is the top level (/) directory. If you use something like Syncthing, this should make it a bit easier to sync your RG35XXSP saves and save states with other devices.
Installation

1. Connect your MicroSD card to your computer.
2. Access the card's partition.
3. Drop the .sh files into Roms\APPS.
4. Put the MicroSD card into your RG35XXSP.
5. Boot it up and select the App Center.
6. Select APPS.
7. Run ssh_enable.sh and/or samba_enable.sh in either order.
8. Access your RG35XXSP by SFTP with WinSCP, SSH with a terminal, or with Samba by connecting to it as a network drive. Use credentials root and root if prompted.

Disclaimer: For network security reasons, I highly recommend you keep these features disabled when you're not at home. Simply run ssh_disable.sh and samba_disable.sh to turn them off. Also, the scripts are provided as-is. If you don't feel comfortable about what the scripts do, either back up your saves first or just don't risk it.
Rev1 update: The rev1 ssh_enable.sh and samba_enable.sh will now only run for the current session, as I've been receiving reports of issues. In the original version, having SSH start on bootup seems to make the Network Settings option disappear, and starting Samba on bootup makes it take 3x as long. I'm going to find a way to have them launch after it gets to the home screen. They are still available in the repo in the scripts directory but are renamed to ssh_always(experimental).sh and samba_always(experimental).sh.

So I'm not really sure what I'm looking for here, I think I am just overwhelmed with questions and emotions and I'm looking for an outlet, and people who understand.
As the title says, I lost my mom to cancer just over 2 weeks ago, and I'm 22 years old. I feel so incredibly lost. Her death was quite unexpected, and I was there beside her when it happened. She was diagnosed with the cancer just a few weeks before she passed.
However, I was under the impression that she was going to get better, or, at least, have many more years with us. We were never told the stage of her cancer as she never got the chance to have a biopsy. She never had the chance to start treatment. I had no idea she was going to pass so soon. In fact, the day she passed, I had been sat beside her in hospital and we had been chatting so much and joking around, like normal. (She was back in hospital because of some swelling).
Her deterioration just all happened so suddenly and unexpectedly and I'm so confused still.
I feel a lot of sadness (obviously), some anger, some confusion and some guilt.
I'm an only child, and it was just my mom and I at home because my dad left us when I was around 16. That made our bond stronger, and we got through it together. We had recently moved home together and we were so happy to finally have a house instead of a flat, and have our very own backyard, etc etc. We went on vacations together. We spent so much time together and we were so alike in our personalities and what we enjoyed. We had so many plans together and things booked.
I love my mom so much, and I feel so incredibly lost without her. She was my #1 fan and best friend, and I feel robbed. I didn't get enough time with her. I was supposed to have another 20-30 years with her, and I feel so robbed, I can't believe she's not going to be here for so many more of my 'big moments', like if I ever get married, or when I return to work (I had to leave my job a few months ago because of depression, before any of this even happened). I actually can't even fathom what the future is going to look like anymore, I can't see it.
I feel guilt because it was very rare that I said the words 'I love you' out loud. I'm autistic, and I struggle with expressing emotions, especially out loud. I have to write things out - I made sure I wrote it on every single birthday or mother's day cards. I also struggle with physical touch, but I did hug her every night I had to leave her in the hospital. The guilt I feel is because I wasn't able to express my love physically/verbally as much throughout my life, because of how I am. I am TERRIFIED at the thought of her not knowing that I love her. That scares me so much and I feel awful about the possibility of her passing without knowing just how much I love her. I tried to express my love through my actions and gifts and the time I spent with her, as I said we were basically best friends, but I'm so scared in case my lack of verbal 'I love you's led her to think otherwise. In her final few hours, I did manage to get some words out to tell her that I do, whilst she was unconscious/unresponsive, but I hope to God she heard me.
I've experienced grief before through losing my grandmother and uncle, etc, but NOTHING like this before. This is the worst pain I have ever felt.
I don't know what happens with life from here on. Honestly, I feel like a child. I know I'm not, I'm a whole grown up. But I just really do feel like a child. And I don't know how I'm supposed to go through life without the guidance and support of my mom.
I know that people say that our loved ones are still with us, and I really hope that that's true. If it is, how do I know that? What does that feel like?
I'm not even a religious or spiritual person, but I am absolutely desperate for some sort of signs from her. Anything.
I just wish I could know if she's okay, wherever she is, if she's anywhere. And I want her to know that I love her and miss her.
I hope she felt peaceful when she passed. I wish I could know for sure.
My mom has always had extreme health anxiety, so when she got her diagnosis a few weeks ago, I thought she'd lose her mind. But she took it in her stride and was SO strong. She was so eager to have treatment ASAP. She was excited to spend time with me. She wanted to get better. She was sure she'd get better. I was too.
She also told me that she's not scared of dying, she's just scared of leaving me, by myself. And I'd be like "oh, mom!!", completely unaware that that's what was going to happen. Her fear came true, and I am so so upset.
I need my mom.
I feel anger about a range of different things. How some of the hospital staff treated her (like sh*t). Bad things that she's been through in her life. How quickly it happened. Etc etc etc...
My dad has been spending a lot of time with me, but we don't have a close relationship, and it's a relationship that is fractured because of what's happened in the past.
I feel so alone. I have a couple of aunties and an uncle and stuff, who have offered their support and made it known that they'll be there for me, and I'm so so appreciative of that. But, and I don't mean this in a rude way, it'll never compare to what my mum gave me.
Planning her funeral has been surreal. I can't believe the words that come out of my mouth. I didn't think that I'd be doing these things for at least a few more decades.
I've always had a fear of losing her, a fear of us both getting older and me one day having to deal with her passing, but the fact that it has happened so soon has me in complete shock.
Sometimes it doesn't feel real. I don't know how I'm supposed to continue with life and 'move past' this. My mom was my life, we were the best duo.
I don't know what happens now, or how my life is supposed to turn out, I feel so lost and I'm so devastated. I'm a wreck.
I can't believe she's gone. It's like a nightmare that I can't wake up from.
