Review of the game after almost 2 weeks
XDefiant has been out for almost 2 weeks now so I’d like to share some general observations I’ve made over the pre-season period. I have a little over 11 hours of pure in-game time, while Ubisoft Connect shows a little less than 20 in total.
https://preview.redd.it/p8ei6wig7y3d1.png?width=1720&format=png&auto=webp&s=bd14474018ba5365ec45d1059f7093b8cf0d880a
I’m not a pro or anything, but I think I’m decent enough to provide good feedback.
The positives:
  • No skill-based matchmaking is great, at least for me
  • The maps are generally quite good
  • Gunplay is fun and the guns are relatively balanced within their classes, nothing is too OP like say the pre-nerf Model 1887 from MW2
  • The current gamemodes are good, I like the spin they did on kill confirmed
  • I like the ability to modify your loadout mid-game
  • Game generally runs well on my hardware without major issues, though I did get weird stutters that I fixed by switching between DirectX versions
  • Having characters from Ubisoft games with unique abilities is a pretty interesting concept
The negatives:
  • This is not necessarily a negative since it’s tied to the game being a free to play arena shooter, but I thought it was worth noting – it’s never going to be a CoD killer, and I think the #1 reason for that is the amount of content. CoD has a campaign and Warzone, on top of more guns, perks, killstreaks, etc., XDefiant is never going to have the diversity of CoD
  • Obviously, hit registration. It has improved since the start, but there are still improvements to be made. I’ve noticed that my last shot (especially when using a DMR or sniper) often only registers clientside, but not serverside. I don’t know if there’s any fix to this since it’s mostly a byproduct of higher ping, but it’s very annoying
  • Sound feels inconsistent, gunfire drowns out a lot of other noise like footsteps. Sometimes it’s very easy to track an enemy based on their footsteps, sometimes they just appear next to you with no prior warning
  • Snipers need to be adjusted, playing aggressively with them should be more difficult since at the moment, there is pretty much no sway or flinching
  • The progression is too slow, I think 1.5x the current rate of earning weapon XP should be a pretty good adjustment
  • There need to be more camos unlockable by gameplay, not just the bronze, silver, and gold skins we have currently
  • Screen shake from grenades is a little obnoxious, especially since the grenade spam in this game is pretty strong
  • Chat censorship is should be off by default, at least in my opinion
  • The game seems to discourage diversity when it comes to classes. Instead of everyone using something else to make a versatile team, I feel like it’s stronger to pick the same class and use the ability one by one (to get a “permanent” wallhack, shield, or always have a spider on the ground)
  • Speaking of the spider ability – I’m not sure it’s the right way to go. Unlike, say, the heal ability, it doesn’t really benefit the player who used the ability (since they’re often not following the same path as the bot), but it hugely inconveniences the receiving player
  • They should probably also reconsider the phantoms’ extra HP boost and find a more suitable passive
  • Echelon’s ult is OP and needs to be nerfed, not because of the wallhack, but because of the extremely strong pistol
  • An option to adjust sensitivity for all specific sights should be added
  • Having collision turned on for teammates and off for enemies feels counter-intuitive
  • No ping system
  • Make lobbies persistent
  • Spawns feel pretty bad sometimes, I’ve spawned out in the open directly into the line of sight of a Phantom DMR player sitting behind a shield, with no way of fighting back. Make the spawns happen in the same general area but not one exact spot
  • Escort matches run even though it’s literally impossible to win because you don’t have enough time to push the objective. Imo they should make it so that if you push uninterrupted after the time has run out, you go into overtime until you reach the previous position and earn a draw, or the push is interrupted and you get a loss
This may seem like a very negative post from the number of points I made, but please note that these are mostly small adjustments that should be looked into, not large fundamental changes.
Overall, I enjoy the game a lot and if the devs can support it, I will keep playing for a long time.
Other notes and observations:
  • Movement is something that I didn’t mention in my positives or negatives because it seems extremely subjective. I personally lean towards keeping it, maybe with some small adjustments, but it’s also the #1 reason I hear from people who don’t want to try the game or keep playing it. Imo, it will cause a divide similar to building in Fortnite
  • So far, I haven’t met many cheaters, maybe like 1 in my whole playtime, but as we know, BattlEye is not the most amazing anti-cheat, so I hope they can stay on top of the issue
  • A setting to not join matches mid-game should be considered, though this may make gameplay less fun for people whose teammate left the game and now they’re stuck in a 5v6. They should at least make the loss from a match you joined mid-game not count
  • The battlepass only seems to have skins for weapons I’m not interested in playing
  • Play the newcomer gamemode if you can, it’s easier than jumping straight into randoms
  • I think they should add all chat and maybe even voice chat for the whole lobby (yeah I just wanna trashtalk people)
  • They should explain how skill rating is calculated since it seems pretty weird, but I think it increases linearly with playtime
  • Gun attachments don’t seem to matter that much, there’s no “busted” or meta loadout for most guns and you can do well with almost any combination of attachments
  • I hope the game receives frequent updates with gamemodes, maps, weapons, etc. because I’m worried that I’ll get bored eventually

2024.06.01 11:03 Floxow Used PC Build, what do you think?

Hey guys, after I´ve been away from PC gaming and building a PC for quite some time I got the itch and bought a used, prebuild PC. I payed 320€/~350$ for the whole package, let me know what you think!
What I already did:
The RAM was showing clock speed of 1067 MHz in HWiNFO, so I turned on XMP and now it´s showing 1600MHz, so it seemed to work although I don´t really know what XMP does :D
Overall I´m pretty happy with this PC, it´s running smooth and silent.
I´m playing in 1080p 60Hz. I´m playing The Outer Worlds on Ultra and I get 90 - 120 FPS, with some drops to 70 - 80 FPS when I´m outside.
The main type of games I´ll be playing are: The Outer Worlds, Fallout 4, Cities Skylines, Kerbal Space Program, Space Engineer, Minecraft,.. you get the idea, not the newest of new but somewhere in the middle. Although I´d like to be able to play a more modern game when I want to.
Games I´d like to play in the future:
My question is: Do you think the price is okay, including the CPU update? What would be the first piece of hardware you would upgrade? Do you think a better monitor would be step up, before any more hardware upgrades?
Thanks for reading!

🔗Authentic Western 410 Double Barrel Shotgun

https://preview.redd.it/47z71u94kw3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8c8f38032e7b65eaf6fd2efe09559cd2212b053f
When I first came across the Denix Replicas 1067 1853 Civil War Enfield Rifle, its authentic design and historical significance piqued my interest. As a history enthusiast, I was excited to have this replica in my possession. The craftsmanship of the wooden and metal construction was impressive, capturing the essence of the era. However, my excitement soon turned into a slight disappointment when I realized that the rifle was just for decoration and didn't shoot.
Despite this minor setback, the replica's ability to transport me back in time and provide me with a tangible connection to history was a positive aspect. The attention to detail and the dedication to preserving its historical significance made the Enfield Rifle a worthwhile addition to my collection. It's a great conversation starter and a visually stunning piece to display in any room.
Nonetheless, I can understand how some collectors might be put off by the fact that the rifle is non-functional. While it doesn't impact the overall design and quality of the product, it may be a deciding factor for those looking for a functional replica. Overall, the Denix Replicas 1853 Civil War Enfield Rifle is an accurate and visually stunning representation of a bygone era, making it a valuable addition for any history enthusiast's collection.

🔗Authentic StG 44 Assault Rifle Replica for Collectors and Reenactments

https://preview.redd.it/i8si36k4kw3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a81dd92dfe40321011b76622d4e92b83340e9e47

Imagine owning a piece of history when you hold this stunning replica of the Denix 1125 StG 44 Assault Rifle. The attention to detail in this rifle is remarkable, from the wooden stock to the solid metal construction, all of which gives it that realistic weight and feel.
The ejecting magazine and functional trigger and bolt mechanism create an authentic experience. You can even attach a shoulder sling on the cut-out in the stock! .
In a world of theatrics and reenactments, this perfectly recreated weapon stands out. Whether you're a collector seeking a museum-grade piece or someone interested in historical replicas, this Denix replica is your go-to choice.
Its quality and historical significance are unmatched.

🔗Realistic Mossy Oak Pump Shotgun Toy

https://preview.redd.it/4zoha0y4kw3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1a4adcc20f29d17661c9637eb2039d4d473607d4
I was surprised by the excitement when I handed the Mossy Oak Pump Toy Shotgun to my 7-year-old son. The toy shotgun was a great size for him to play with without any worry about safety. The plastic was strong enough to withstand everyday rough play, which was a plus.
One feature that stood out was the ability to eject shells with such a real-life pump action. This was something that made the pretend game even more entertaining for my son. Additionally, the toy offered realistic firing noises that added to the overall authenticity of the experience.
However, there were a few issues that we noticed. Firstly, the quality of the plastic felt lightweight and could be easily mistaken for a real gun. Secondly, on occasion, the shells would fail to eject properly, causing some frustration for my son.
Overall, the Mossy Oak Pump Toy Shotgun provided an enjoyable experience for my son when he was pretending to be a hunter or a soldier in a make-believe world. While I wish it was a bit stronger and had fewer issues with shell ejection, the excitement it brought to my son made it a worthwhile purchase.

🔗Authentic 18th Century Kentucky Rifle Replica for Outdoor Enthusiasts

https://preview.redd.it/vutfo0b5kw3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=51e695893494e1579b156fe58a8b5b8979f51ec1
I was able to get my hands on the Denix 1138 Kentucky Rifle Replica, and let me tell you, it's a beauty. With its historical accuracy and intricate details, it really takes you back to the late 1700s.
The shorter version makes it perfect for my home, and it's quite impressive how far off the shot would have been without the "rifled" bore design! . However, I wish it could come with some additional safety features, as some of the moving parts are quite sensitive and may be accident-prone. Nonetheless, the Denix 1138 Kentucky Rifle Replica is definitely a standout for any history enthusiast or collector.

🔗Vintage Kentucky Long Rifle with Rifled Bore - Ideal for Hunting Enthusiasts

https://preview.redd.it/dzg94fs5kw3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=06070e11e33fdf3e989201fc5b1ea489a14504e7
The Denix Kentucky Long Rifle is a replica of an iconic firearm from the late 1700s, originally designed and built in Pennsylvania. It had a significant role in the Revolutionary War and continued to be popular until the 19th century, becoming synonymous with figures like Daniel Boone and Davy Crockett. The Kentucky rifle was one of the first to feature a "rifled" bore, making it more accurate for its time.
My personal experience with this product has been a mixed bag. On the one hand, I found the Kentucky Long Rifle to be an incredibly accurate replica, complete with a smooth, realistic feel. It's an impressive conversation starter and adds a bit of authenticity to my display. The build quality is excellent, and it looks as close to the original as you can get.
However, I've had some issues with the reliability and durability of the product. On a few occasions, the rifle arrived in less than optimal condition, with broken parts that made it difficult or impossible to fix without further damaging the item. This made me question the overall quality control of the manufacturer.
In conclusion, the Denix Kentucky Long Rifle is undoubtedly a beautiful and historically accurate replica. If you can manage to get a well-maintained unit, it's definitely worth the investment. But, buyers beware: there have been reports of broken and poorly-made units, so it's important to be diligent and possibly consider purchasing in-person to ensure the product is up to standard.

🔗Vintage-Inspired Winchester Rubber Band Rifle with Rugged Wood Finish

https://preview.redd.it/b5wuo486kw3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ff82211df1deea070358d00d6bbafd1f0a68eedb
The Magnum 1873 Winchester Rubberband Rifle is a nostalgic nod to the past, inspired by "The Gun that Won the West. " It mirrors the versatility and popularity of the original, making it a must-have for any cowboy-themed adventure. With a 28.5" gun length and a rubber band stretch of 16.5", this toy provides a fun, safe shooting experience for kids and adults alike.
Though the ammunition isn't included, it's compatible with our BLUE rubber band ammunition, adding an extra layer of authenticity. Proudly made in the USA, this wooden rifle is not just a toy, but a piece of history that can be passed down for generations.

🔗High-Quality Canvas Shotgun Case for Outdoor Tactical Gear

https://preview.redd.it/g2clcmm6kw3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1120b5ea3e52caf413ae78a5d7eb779afcac2808
As a reviewer who's tried the Evolution Outdoor Design EVODS Mesquite Shotgun case, let me share my experience. The case has a generous length of 50 inches, which easily accommodates my long-barreled shotgun. The quality of the canvas is top-notch, providing a sense of durability.
However, one drawback I faced was its narrow width and depth, making it challenging to fit in one of my ten different shotguns. Despite this hiccup, I was impressed by the case's protective features and its reasonable price. Overall, it proved to be a useful accessory in my outdoor arsenal.

The Kotobukiya M. S. G Weapon Unit Shotgun Plastic Model Parts MW16R is a versatile addition to any collection of detailed accessories for modeling. It's designed for robots and figures within the 15-20cm size range, making it perfect for adding that extra touch of realism to your creations. I especially appreciate the customizable options for this weapon, which I found to be a refreshing and innovative feature for an item in this category.
That being said, there were a few minor drawbacks. For one, the instructions could have been more comprehensive and clearer. Additionally, the price point might be a bit steep for some potential customers. However, overall, I would recommend this shotgun parts model to anyone in search of a high-quality accessory to complete their 15-20cm sized robot or figure collection.

I recently got my hands on the Big Buck Hunter Pro Arcade Game Pump Shotgun Set, and I gotta say, it completely transformed my gaming experience. The two vibrant colors, green and orange, not only add a pop of color to the game but also make it easier for me to distinguish between my guns.
One of the standout features of this set is its compatibility with a wide range of popular games like the Incredible Technologies, Raw Thrills, and Big Buck Hunter series. This versatility has made it an essential addition to my arcade setup, perfect for those intense gaming sessions with friends.
However, while the green and orange guns can stand up to the rigors of high-use machines, I have noticed a bit of wear and tear over time, which is a bit of a downside. Overall, though, the Big Buck Hunter Pro Arcade Game Pump Shotgun Set has elevated my gaming experience, and I highly recommend it for fellow arcade enthusiasts!

🔗US Model 1873 Replica Blued Finish Revolver for Collectors

I've been searching for a reliable replica for my cowboy collection, and I stumbled upon the Denix 1186B U. S. A. Model 1873 Replica. The first thing that caught my eye was the blued finish, which gives it a unique look that sets it apart from the rest.
One of the main things I liked about this replica is its weight and balance, which make it feel very authentic. It's a bit heavy, but it gives it the right feel and makes it look like a real firearm. The wood grips are another great feature, adding a touch of class to the replica.
However, there were a few drawbacks that I noticed. The cylinder's movement felt a bit clunky, and the ejector rod needed some smoothing out. But overall, these are minor issues compared to the price I paid for such a genuine-looking replica.
One of my friends even said that it's so realistic that it's like having a real Colt at home. While it may not be perfect, it's definitely a high-quality replica that I'm happy to have in my collection.

Buyer's Guide

Choosing a shotgun with the model number 1187 is a great decision for hunters and sport shooters. However, with so many options available, it can be challenging to determine which one is right for you. In this guide, we will cover some of the important features, considerations, and general advice to help you make an informed decision about your next 1187 shotgun purchase.

Choosing the Right Action Type

https://preview.redd.it/evhjnem8kw3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4240a8129236aa414a3084f75539878b6db27cb9
Shotguns come in various action types, including pump-action, semi-automatic, and break-action. Each type has its own advantages and disadvantages. Pump-action and semi-automatic shotguns are popular for their fast cycling times, while break-action shotguns are praised for their reliability and durability. Consider your intended use and preferred ergonomics when choosing your shotgun's action type.

Gauge: The Right Size for You

Shotguns come in different gauges, with the most common being 12, 20, and 28. The gauge refers to the size of the shotgun shell, with smaller gauges producing a tighter pattern but less knockdown power. Larger gauges offer more knockdown power but may spread the shot pattern more. Choose a gauge that best suits your hunting or shooting needs.

Barrel Length: Effect on Performance and Handling

Barrel length plays a significant role in a shotgun's performance and handling characteristics. Longer barrels tend to have more accurate and consistent patterns, while shorter barrels are lighter and easier to maneuver in tight spaces. Consider your intended use and personal preferences when selecting a barrel length.

Stock Materials and Design

Shotgun stocks come in various materials, such as wood, synthetic, or even lightweight aluminum. Some stocks are adjustable, allowing shooters to customize their length of pull, drop, and comb height. Choose a stock material that suits your preferences and allows for proper fit and comfort during recoil.

Maintenance and Care

Taking care of your shotgun is crucial for maintaining its performance and longevity. Regular cleaning and lubrication are essential, and proper storage prevents damage and wear. Make sure to follow the manufacturer's recommendations and consider investing in a good quality cleaning kit and storage case.

Budget: Setting Your Limits

https://preview.redd.it/vk75l7k9kw3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6e01a9a8b6579c515e06680d8caffd3d5bf6adac
Shotguns come in a wide range of prices, and it is essential to set a budget before making your purchase. Higher-end models typically offer better performance and more advanced features, but there are still excellent options available at more affordable price points. Determine your budget and prioritize the features most important to you when selecting your next 1187 shotgun.

Research and Consultation

Do your research: read online reviews, consult with experts, and try out different shotguns at a local gun shop. Learning about the specific features and performance characteristics of 1187 shotguns will help you make the best decision for your needs.
Ultimately, purchasing a shotgun with the 1187 model number is an excellent choice, but it is essential to do your research and choose a model based on your intended use, personal preferences, and budget. Remember to prioritize the features that matter most to you and take the time to make an informed decision.

2024.06.01 07:14 Tern_Larvidae-2424 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup [Preview #15] - Bangladesh

Bangladesh' performance at T20I WCs have been quite disappointing. Till 2022, they had won just one game against a full member and their best performance ever being in 2016 where they won 2 out of the 6 games that had a result. But despite regular poor results before the 2022 T20I WC edition, they performed really well in the tournament and beat Netherlands & Zimbabwe (finally, another full member), gave India a close run and got themselves into a knock-out game against Pakistan. They're once again coming into the tournament with some dubious form, but their past performances suggest that those results are hardly an accurate indicator of how they're going to perform in the tournament proper.
Overall T20I WC Performance: 38 Matches, 9 Wins, 28 Losses, 1 No Result
T20I performance since the last tournament: 25 Matches, 16 Wins, 8 Losses, 1 No Result
Squad
Bangladesh announced their squad on May 14th with Shanto as the skipper. Following are the players' recent performances (performance in their last 20 T20Is):
Player Runs Average Strike Rate Wickets Average Economy
N Hossain Shanto 315 21.00 107.14 0 - 14.00

Although Litton's recent form looks decent, most of it was done in a single series (against Ireland). Much of Shakib's good stats with the bat results down to his performance in that tri-series before the 2022 T20I WC. Their new talents have looked pretty good so that could be an exciting thing to watch out for.
Their bowling has been really good for most part. Although the pitches certainly play some part in it, their stats still look good. Taskin just had a really good series against Zimbabwe and that is something encouraging for the team.

S Islam [5] 0 0.00 0.00 4 31.75 7.85
Bangladesh has went in with a good number of newcomers, with 6 of their players having a chance to make their T20I WC debut this edition. There's not much to say in the batting front with only Shanto having a good average. In the bowling though, all of them look pretty good. Taskin doing well upfront will be a crucial factor in Bangladesh' fortunes along with how well Shakib does with the ball (and bat).
Strengths
Their newcomers have done pretty well at times in Bangladesh' recent bilateral games. Their batting in the lower middle part has a bit of a firepower which is something Bangladesh has been lacking in T20Is for ages. Their aggressive style of batting (along with good bowling of course) brought them series wins against England & Ireland. After that they whitewashed Afghanistan and beat New Zealand in an away T20I before losing to Sri Lanka at home and US away (with a 4-1 thrashing of Zimbabwe in between). Their form since their last tournament has been great despite their recent fumble against the States and they certainly don't look that far away from Sri Lanka (Bangladesh weren't far away from winning it 2-1).
Weaknesses
Since their loss in that final T20I against Ireland, Bangladesh' batting has gone back to being inconsistent. Given a sample size of only 5 games, their good batting performance was the outlier. Also the last time they played in the West Indies, they were thumped 2-0. The last time they played in the States, they were beaten 2-1.
They were 7-3 up against Australia & New Zealand combined before the T20I World Cup in 2021 but those were home games and they couldn't replicate those results and lost against Scotland and were thumped by England & Australia. This time too, their home performance against Zimbabwe may not mean that much. The players will need to adapt quickly in the tight group they find themselves in.
World Cup Chances
They are in the most interesting group of the group stage. They have more than just a chance to qualify for the Super 8 as beating Sri Lanka and 2 out of the 3 remaining teams will almost certainly do the job. Their first two games are against the two big teams which is probably not ideal since it means that they'll have to be near perfect right from the moment they set foot on the ground. If they get 1 (or perhaps even 2) wins out of the first 2 games they'll move on to the associates where winning just 2 (or 1) will do the trick for them. Although they are capable of beating their fellow full members, they're also perfectly capable of losing against the associates. Losing the first 2 games will probably shut off their qualification chances, so a good start is a must.
If they do go to the Super 8s? Well the group they'll find themselves in will depend on which of the seeded teams they knock out (or in a crazy scenario where neither South Africa nor Sri Lanka qualify they'll go to a group according to their position in the group). A Super 8 is quite certainly the most they can do (which is already a big thing for sure) but if they find themselves in Group 2 they will have an outlandish chance of qualification in which they'll need to beat one of England and Pakistan and then West Indies or Afghanistan. 2 points can still get them to qualify but that requires NRR supremacy.
Final Thoughts
In 2016, Bangladesh should've beaten India and were decent against Australia & New Zealand (only with the ball against the Kiwis). The less said about 2021 the better but in 2022 they exceeded expectations and knitted out close wins against Netherlands & Zimbabwe and were on course to beat India before they lost the plot. All this (and a bit more) meant they found themselves in what was a knock-out game against Pakistan in which they lost comfortably. In 2 of the last 3 editions they did pretty well. If the don't do well this time the good performances will be thought of as mere glimpses of what could be in an otherwise dismal T20I WC history. But if they perform well, their recent performance will constitute as an upward trajectory in which 2021 was the outlier.
It's hard to derive what's going to happen in an ICC tournament for Bangladesh based on their recent performances. They did nothing in 2021 after coming in with form, did well in 2022 after coming into the tournament with not much form. They can go 3 out of 4 in the group stages, they can go 1 out of 4 in the group stages. Bangladesh supporters will be in for a ride alright, but how will the ride be a smooth one?
Probably not, for better or worse.

2024.06.01 06:49 robot_guilliman My BAO 2024 Experience (Long Read)

Come and behold: an odyssey of two men that both claimed they just wanted to have an enjoyable Round 6 at the BAO 2024, and how that all went to hell after just 2 phases. This is a long read so strap yourselves in and get a tea or something, because I'm not giving you a TL;DR, you have to suffer like I did.
Now I’ll be honest, I’m not a perfect player. I don’t know every rule. I make mistakes. The match was Talons of the Emperor Custodes (myself) and Hypercrypt Necrons (my “good-natured” opponent). I ran a rather generic list, and he was running 4 C’tan with a very thin offering of 3 flayed one units and two sets of Lokhust heavy destroyers with Lokhust lords due to points. My main game plan was to just kill his non-C’tan stuff and then try to die efficiently wrapping his C’tan up in melee so they couldn’t jump around, limiting his ability to score with only a few models. The mission was Take and Hold, which I knew was to my disadvantage because he was going to be able to easily jump around and usually score the full 15 for primaries.
From the beginning my “this guy is gonna be an issue” red flag goes off. He doesn’t have a cohesive set of dice, just a random pile of dice of different sizes and colors. I’ve never had a friendly match with anyone who does this. It makes the dice rolls much harder to read and while I don’t expect someone to spend a lot of money on limited edition, faction-specific dice, in my experience, if a person can’t be bothered to spend a few dollars on a proper set of legible dice they won’t be bothered to read, understand and play the rules correctly either. And kids, let me tell you just how right I was.
During deployment, he just haphazardly put his units out one after another, not following the each player places one unit at a time rule. This resulted in his whole army being deployed while I had only put down a couple units. He placed his Void Dragon right on the line in a way that let me deploy my Caladius in a way that would give my tank a free shot due to line of sight while nevertheless being out of range of the Dragon’s movement and weapon range. I won the roll-off to go first, so therefore I would get shots in the first two turns due to its placement.
Here is where I have to admit my one mistake. I didn’t understand how the C’tans damage- halving interacted with damage modifiers. My tank's damage is D6+2. I assumed the D6 was halved, then the +2 added. We argued this, I even wanted a judge ruling because I knew I needed every point of damage I could muster if I was going to kill those C’tan. However, I knew both of the players on the table next to me. They’re good and knowledgeable players, so I asked them. They corrected my thinking as it only applies to weapon abilities like Melta 2, etc. Oops, my bad. I accept that three people are now telling me the same thing, even after my opponent still offers to get the judge. I decline, wanting to move on and not waste time. However, I’m sure this signaled to my opponent that I was willing to fight over proper rules interpretations, which apparently meant we weren’t just going to have an enjoyable game anymore. I’ve played dozens of games with very competitive players that had plenty of contention and tension that comes with two grown people wanting to win a game of plastic army men while still maintaining civility and sportsmanship... but I guess everything that follows is really my fault lol.
Using Tabletop Tactics' random secondaries, he drew Bring it Down and Secure No Mans Land on turn one. He didn't like BiD and burned it for 1 CP. Then said he drew Deploy Teleport Homers. Then he exclaimed that he "accidentally" drew that random secondary on my mission selection tab instead of his, so said he actually got Area Denial. I told him it really shouldn't matter because it was a secondary available to him and should still count. He got very huffy, then tried to claim he never drew BiD. After several minutes of arguing I finally got him to agree to having burned BiD and just let him have Area Denial.
At the end of both my first and second turns he forgot to hyperphase any units until after had already drawn his secondaries, then tried to decide at that point what would be best to remove from the board and redeploy in order to achieve them. This culminated in his second turn movement phase where he specifically asked me to move a unit of Flayed Ones, then several minutes later tells me he had pulled them at the end of my previous turn. We argued for several minutes where I tell him exactly what he pulled, but he continued to insist. I finally let him have it but forced him to make an agreement that we both had to pull units like that before we drew secondaries since I also had a Callidus Assassin and Allarus Terminator Squads. He of course continued to not do this even after I had to hold myself to the agreement after forgetting to pull a squad of terminators. I then had to spend the rest of the game markedly declaring the end of my turn and asking if he wanted to pull anything. (He still tried to do it in his turn 4's movement phase but stopped himself with a muttered "Yeah... but you won't let me do that..."
He also did not fundamentally understand how cover worked, claiming another Flayed One squad had cover because the front of my Calladius tank couldn't see them, despite the unit being fully visible to the back half of the tank. The two players on the table next to me had to explain how cover works because he was convinced I was wrong.
In my turn 3, after deep striking in a terminator unit nine inches out from the third unit of Flayed Ones on his home objective (yes, if you’ve been paying attention there was a different and equally ridiculous issue with every single one of his Flayed One units), I was stupid and shot a couple off. He pulled 2 models. I measured for the new charge distance. Oops, I was stupid and extended my 9-inch charge to 10 inches. I told him this.
“There is no way that is a 10 inch charge!!! I put them 2 inches apart from each other. It has to be an 11 inch charge.”
“Alright, dude, well. Look at the tape measure. It’s like 10.5.”
“Were they even 9 inches to begin with!?”
He then proceeded arbitrarily to put one of the models I killed back onto the table and measured the charge himself only to find it was 9 inches. He still was not convinced. I had to get a player from another table (not the original other table, but the one to the right of me this time [so if you’re keeping track on that front as well, that’s two tables and five players acting as pseudo-judges for this match]) to confirm that yes, it was a 10-inch charge. I then proceeded to roll a 3 on the charge lol. This one really gets me because if he had taken at least 5 seconds to actually care about where he put back the dead model, he could have made me look like a cheater because his Flayed Ones were absolutely not 2 inches apart as he had originally spaced them.
In my subsequent Turn 3 fight phase, I charged the Void Dragon with my wardens. I popped the FNP because I know they wouldn't kill it. I made my attacks, blowing the double ka’tah, and did a small amount of damage to it. He fought back. I reminded him of the -1 to hit for the Radiant Mantle. I reminded him of the -1 to wound because of wardens' ability. He generates his wounds, I make my saves and fail 2 of them. He rolls two 3s for damage.
“That’s 12 damage on your captain.”
“Umm... how? does the Void Dragon have Precision or something?”
“No, I did the precision strat.”
“You never declared it.”
“Yes I did this is why I was asking about your Captain’s toughness.”
“Yeah, but you never said anything about doing a stratagem; it’s not happening.”
“Oh, so that’s how it’s gonna be?”
“Yeah, it is.” I roll my FNPs. The first one died and I manage to save 4 damage on the second wound.
By this point the match resembled something closer to a marriage between a knife fight and when two kids play pretend laser guns, where one kid says I hit you and the other one goes, “No you didn’t!” He wanted to retroactively Heroically Intervene the nearby Nightbringer. He had the CP for it since I wouldn’t let him "do the precision strat" (which turned out to be Epic Challenge). I allowed it because I preferred the fight while the wardens' FNP was activate rather than be charged by the Nightbringer in the next round. He then wanted to fight me next with the Nightbringer, despite the fact that I had another charging unit elsewhere to fight next. I told him I had to fight over there first. “But I charged!” I then had to spend several minutes explaining how fighting first actually works in regards to charging units, and how Heroic Intervention specifically stated he doesn’t get a charge bonus despite rolling a charge. In response, he spent his last 2 CP to interrupt. I reminded him of the debuffs, again. He rolled to hit and wound rather poorly. It caused like 2 damage overall, killing the other wounded warden. He is not happy. Well, even less happy than the already not-happy he was.
You might notice I’m beginning to add some flavor commentary. That’s because as I write this out and realize I’m not even halfway through it I’m becoming very demoralized and I’m sure you, dear reader, are as well and we could both use some entertainment from this utter mess.
At the start of his Turn 3, he announced his secondary draws: Assassination and Bring it Down. I had taken so much psychic damage in the match by then (which is impressive considering Necrons) that I was confused why BiD wasn’t showing up in his secondaries to select. Then it all came back to me in a flashback, like I was Neville Chamberlain having signed the Munich Agreement in Round 1, convinced that it would stop all the hostilities and we would live in peace for the next 5 rounds. Indeed, appeasement had worked as well for me as for him. I reminded him he drew BiD in turn 1 and had burned it with a CP.
“No, I just drew it now in Turn 3.”
“Dude, we had a huge dispute about this. This was the fiasco about you saying you accidentally drew a random secondary from my secondary list.”
Somehow, he did not remember this. I once again just had to force the issue and tell him he couldn’t draw it again, since it was all too suspicious that he happened to get the same secondary twice -- right as he had my only vehicle, the Caladius, lined up for an easy charge from the Nightbringer. Oh well, he still found something for the Nightbringer to charge that round.
Now, whenever he would do his massive 36 shots on the Lokhust unit, he would pick up a massive pile of 16mm or larger dice that was far too large for his very average-sized hands. He would then proceed to throw -- yes, throw -- in the manner of lifting the pile into the air and chucking them down into his dice tray as if this were an anime about cooking and he was adding ingredients to a bowl. Dice would bounce everywhere. On at least one occasion this produced a dropped a waterfall of like 10 dice onto my nearby Witchseekers that produced neither a care nor an apology. Also, he used a neighboring game's mat as the base for his dice tray and they were forced to play around it.
After the dicefall had generated a suspicious number of wounds in the previous two shooting phases from his Lokhust Heavy Destroyers (equipped with Enmitic Exterminators) -- 36 wounds on 36 shots is what finally did it -- I looked them up in the 40k app in his Turn 3 shooting phase. Yes, they have Sustained Hits 1. Yes, the Lokhust Lord attached to them lets them crit on a 5+, but I cannot find where he's getting the Lethal Hits he claims they also have. So, I ask him how he's getting them.
"Uh, from the critical hits."
"That's not what the critical hits are."
He gave me the snidest tone possible. “What do you think a critical hit is?"
After several impassioned minutes of explaining the difference between Sustained, Lethal and critical hits, he still refused to believe me and, yet again, the players next to me had to explain because by that point he was convinced I’m lying about every rules correction I made.
By this point a friend of his had come over to observe the game. He made several not-subtle, over-the-shoulder whispers to him. I can only guess these were all sorts of pejoratives about me and requests for him to police the rest of the match because the friend watched the rest of the game very intently. But, wouldn’t you know, he would never chime in that I was incorrect about a rules correction.
There were several other grand and epic spectacles over the course of the game...
After the fiasco of the Void Dragon not actually invoking an Epic Challenge and Nightbringer using IRL chronomancy to time-travel and use a Heroic Intervention/Interrupt, I used Hunt as One in my Turn 4 to fall back, shoot, and charge. I declared this. I declared what it does. Several minutes later, when I made a whopping 6 shots with the remaining spears in attempt to chip off a lucky wound, he informed me that I couldn’t do that: I fell back. I told him I did the strat. “Oh so you can fall back, charge, and shoot.” >.< I finally brought the Void Dragon down after three dedicated tank attacks and two rounds of warden charging attacks. (C’tans' half damage, 4+ invuln, 5+ FNP sucks lol.)
In Round 4, one of his secondaries was Engage on all Fronts. He was already in two quarters and could easily have hyperphased a Transcendent C’tan into a third. What he really wanted to do, however, was put a C’tan on the center objective and also have the same C'tan also count as within a quarter. It was impossible for it to be in the objective’s range and also be wholly past 3” of both center lines to be in the quarter properly. I tell him this and he argued that he only has to be more than 3” from the very center of the board in the direction of one of the corners. I then had to spend several minutes using dramatic arm motions to explain how the table is divided into quarters along two axes, how he has to be more than 3” beyond both of these, and how it’s simply impossible with his base size to be on the objective and properly in the quarter for Engage. One of the pseudo-judge players from another table finally has to back me up. I explained that he could easily put the Transcendent C’tan somewhere else and score Engage, but it wouldn’t be in a position to do anything else. He didn't want to, as he inexplicably wanted it on the objective with the Nightbringer on it that he had already scored and also to put attacks into my Caladius which, by this point, was on 4 wounds. Following that, the Nightbringer killed the Caladius on its own with Gaze of Death, so the Transcendent C’tan sat there, did nothing, and didn’t score him Engage.
Throughout the game, he would rarely if ever declare intention, especially when making attacks. He would just throw some dice to hit and wound, and then I would have to ask what unit he was even attacking. This came to a head in his turn following the death of the Void Dragon. He made an auto-charge into the wardens with the Nightbringer and did his typical just throwing dice and telling me how many wounds I had to save. I asked him if he did the -1 to wound. He exasperatedly told me yes. I asked him if he did the -1 to hit as well. Dumbfounded silence. I had to make him redo the entire attack. He was very annoyed because in all it resulted in one less wound for me to save. I tell him yes, in fact, that one less wound to save from the Nightbringer's melee is, in fact, a big deal.
He also tried to argue with me that I couldn’t gain a CP after discarding a tactical objective at the end of the turn since I had done so on Turn 1 to discard Assassination. Apparently, you can only gain a bonus CP from discarding tacticals once per game.
Finally, in his last turn at the bottom of round five, I had done all the scoring I could. He was going to score 15 for primaries and there was nothing I can do. Points as they were, I would still be up by 2 points. However, he had kept Engage, and when he scored the three points he could get from that, he would win by 1 point. It’s plain as day. He taps his other secondary on the app and his policer-friend agrees with him that it’ll be a six-point victory. He announced that the game was over. I ask him what his other secondary is, and he wouldn’t tell me.
“Why not?”
“It won’t make a difference anyway.”
“Yeah, but I need to know for proper scoring.”
“Fine, it’s Behind Enemy Lines.”
Truth be told, there was no way he could score two units for Behind, three quarters for Engage, and score the center objective alongside the two he already held. I didn't argue it, because no matter what combination of two objectives and Behind + Engage he mustered, he still would get the win by 1 point. I didn’t feel like getting in one last fight over what would have been just my stubborn pride.
This was quite honestly the worst 40k game I’ve ever played and made true my worries about going to a big competitive event after what was a relatively pleasant five rounds. Mind you, this was also a fight to see who would go 4-2 so the stakes were about as low as what it would look like if I ever tried to make a soufflé.
If you made it this far, thank you for sharing in my misery. Oh, one nice/right thing he did was to give me a few beers at the start of the match... but maybe he was just trying to get me drunk and make my play worse.

2024.06.01 04:28 IronicStar Wrote an article about google/brands, got banned from a subreddit permanently for sharing... then I realized that this is just part of the same problem. Reddit/Quora/social ranks higher now, but these are all run by mods who basically ban any links/posts they disagree with.

So, I left the field to become a counsellor. However, I still run a non-profit and my own businesses/etc, because why would I pay for that when I've done it for 10 years. Anyways... after trying to post a blog post and getting immediately banned with no warnings, it has me thinking... this is just part of the problem. Now, being banned from a subreddit isn't something I'm going to go cry about, but if GOOGLE is going to prefer reddit ranks, but reddit itself is run by random moderators of communities who decide who lives and dies... then what? Social sites are more polarized than ever... and many times facebook groups, reddit pages, and other "top social sources" just remove content/ban without warning. We're seeing a world where websites are being killed off for "social" content, but the social content is being wielded by the individuals who got there first and happened to aggregate. So, now what? Do we just... never grow anything? Never share ideas? Or, is the end goal that absolutely everything must be a post on that said social media site, garning more revenue in ads for both google and reddit/facebook/etc? So, own nothing yourself, have your content stolen by AIs, and only post on third party websites and never ever ever ever dare "SELF PROMOTE" (the gravest sin on reddit). Basically, the internet is becoming a homogenized shit show, and only the biggest win.
I hate it here.
Adding the post below as plain text because I do not want to be banned, but want to have a conversation about this trend. I think it's worrying. Although I left "the industry" anybody operating any business that relies on web content (IMO) should be worried.

Title: Is Google Killing the Concept of "Brand" in Their Updates?
The SEO and website industries are abuzz this week due to a so-called “leak” of google information. Others have referred to it simply as API data and not a true “leak”. Either way, the community is abuzz on several key fronts, particularly that we finally have information on how the ever-elusive Google works internally. Even if this is just a brief insight into the workings of the search engine, it did confirm for many that Google’s March core update was not only penalizing good sites, but was also a colossal slap in the face to smaller, more niche-blogs. There’s also growing concern since Google has been using websites to train Bard/Gemini without consent, but that’s an ever growing battle. I have a couple thoughts on this as somebody who has been in the web design industry for 10 years, then left to become a therapist. I also run a non-profit, and I still manage around 20 websites. Some of them for these businesses, others just for fun.
The website I saw the most hits on, funny enough, were the ones making the most ad revenue. Part of me wonders if Google is simply cracking the whip on its engine to try and save money—why wouldn’t it? Anyways, that’s neither here nor there. I don’t care about that site very much as I never expected it to make revenue in the first place. Besides, we’re not talking thousands, just a few $100. I did find it interesting.
What I’ve noticed, however, from my shift from running “branded” content to “personal content” (much of being a therapist is promoting YOURSELF) is that the current web is actually not brand friendly. Reddit answers and Quora answers are ranking not just because they are top level domains (but it helps) but because people are more likely to view social content.
And then… I thought about it some more. I can’t remember the last time I’ve felt “drawn” to a brand on youtube or facebook like I used to. I simply don’t care that much. And yet, we constantly consume tik toks, youtubers, and ‘influencers’. Rather than being ‘brands’ there’s a large shift to self content. In response to this, I changed my YouTube and Tik Tok to no longer feature my organization name but my own. It’s a weird feeling as the web seems to be becoming less friendly to a corporate landscape and more for a socialized one. For example, the google information that came out confirms that who your author is matters, and that google can actually link it to social profiles and other content. Google My Business now offers the option to add social profiles.
I think it's ironic that Google is making the web more 'social' by removing the human touch and moving to a distilled AI-based model.
“Search Engine Optimization” now feels a bit more like “Personal Press Releases”. This is a new world for many, but I think there is some indication that at least right now, the web is moving away from websites and more to a person-driven approach. That is, so long as the ads from that content make revenue for google—and considering how much influencers are paid, we can assume that’s not going anywhere any time soon.
Google no longer seems to care what SEO you’re doing, they only care if users are engaging in content, satisfied, and kept in the ecosystem. Their AI scraping our content and stealing it isn’t helping matters either… where this goes is anybody’s guess, but for now, take my thoughts with a grain of salt—and then add lime and a margarita. All I’ll say is that I’m not jealous of those still in the industry.

2024.06.01 00:37 CanIBorrowYourShovel My cheapest build possible for a gift

My cheapest build possible for a gift
My nephew is getting into PC gaming so i sent him my old LCD steam deck, and he likes to use it docked, so i decided to build him a super budget keyboard.
Started with a "cidoo" low profile 87 key hotswap mech board off amazon with linear low profile switches (maybe kailh pin orientation?) Saved a few bucks going with used-like new. It had a broken left ctrl keycap, but the caps felt awful anyways. $21. Aluminum top plate, plastic case underneath.
Hoo boy it felt like crap. Light, chintzy, the switches were rough. The RGB is ultra barebones and fairly dim.
So i took it apart and got to work. The switches would NOT come out easily, and i wound up having to peel the pcb away from the plate to pop them out, but it worked fine. Cant swap the switches with anything i have laying around, stupid low profile designs non standardized (have a bunch of nuphy switches just waiting for a barebones board option)
So i manually disassembled and lubed every one. They were fairly decent tolerances with very little wiggle, were bone dry, but had barely lubed stabilizers. A whole lot of 205 lube later, they felt pretty lovely.
Then i couldnt find any super thin foam laying around (the gap between the pcb and bottom plate was TINY) so i went with four layers of painters tape on the PCB and two on the bottom shell of the case.
Reassembled with one of the 3 spare switches being a clicky blue in the escape position.
Added some "dagaldoo" space themed double shot keycaps for $15 for a full set. Included some alternative design caps too. Honestly really nice, i ordered a space (blue/navy/white) theme and a camp theme (brown/cream/forest green).
And a "Gunmjo" coiled black cable for $13.
It feels quite nice to type on, and i'm up in my higher average speed range. It does sound a little different depending on where on the keyboard you type, but after using it, i kinda like the way it has some variety in clack and thock and pop as your hands move around. Maybe some silicone would have been prudent, but i didnt have any on hand.
And i honestly quite like normal height caps on low profile switches.
So all in, ignoring the tape and lube i had, it was $49 shipped using amazon. Would have been $36 if i didnt want to find him a nice cable too. I hope the switches and PCB are durable enough to last him a good long while, but if it doesn't, i enjoyed the process as a newbie to the hobby and will just build him one from a better set of bones!

2024.05.31 17:47 Jimbobsticle Press Release Article

New Toyota RAV4 GR SPORT
The RAV4 is the latest Toyota model to be made available in a GR SPORT version
Sporty and sophisticated styling and equipment specification inspired by TOYOTA GAZOO Racing, Toyota’s multi-World Championship-winning competition arm
RAV4 GR SPORT suspension retuned for focussed handling performance
Available with a choice of powerful and efficient 2.5-litre hybrid electric or plug-in hybrid electric powertrains
Featuring fully digital driver’s instrument panel and more powerful multimedia system
The Toyota RAV4 has always been at the cutting edge of the car market since it originated the concept of the easy-to-drive, highly versatile recreational SUV almost 30 years ago. Today, it consistently ranks not just as the world’s best-selling SUV, but also as one of the best-selling cars across all types and genres.
Year after year, Toyota has made sure the RAV4 keeps ahead of the game where customers’ tastes and preferences are concerned, adopting new technologies and design thinking to keep the car’s appeal and its capabilities up to the moment. The latest chapter in the RAV4 story is the new RAV4 GR SPORT, an addition to the range that comes with styling and equipment features that express sportiness and sophistication that are inspired by TOYOTA GAZOO Racing – the cradle of Toyota’s mission to create ever-better cars through motorsport.
The GR SPORT theme has already been successfully applied to a wide range of other Toyota models, ranging from Yaris, Yaris Cross, C-HR and Corolla to the mighty Hilux pick-up. The RAV4 now picks up the baton in its own inimitable style.
Exterior Design
A series of exterior design details distinguishes the new RAV4 GR SPORT, broadcasting its sportier character.
The car’s front end makes a statement with the prominent grille finished in the GR-exclusive G-mesh pattern, which creates a deeper 3D-effect. The same pattern is applied to the enlarged fog light bezels, which also have distinctive boomerang-shaped frames, giving added prominence to the vehicle’s strong stance. Adding to this effect, the lower bumper has a dark grey metallic finish, in place of the silver featured on other RAV4 models.
At the rear, the back window’s appearance has been thrown into sharper relief by a gloss black garnish that extends the width of the vehicle, between the glass and the licence plate. The G-mesh pattern appears again in the rear bumper, which also has air-bleeding openings to improve aerodynamic performance. Further emphasising the RAV4’s purposeful look, the lower bumper has a dark grey metallic moulding across its bottom edge.
Discreet GR logo badging on the front grille and back door also signifies the grade.
GR SPORT Wheels
The exclusive GR SPORT 19-inch alloy wheels are engineered for reduced weight and higher rigidity. Their robust, five-double-spoke design stands out with a gloss black finish and a fine line-cutting technique, applied for the first time which creates eye-catching pinstripe detailing around the spokes’ margins.
Colour Choices
The principal paintwork options for the RAV4 GR SPORT follow the famous white, red and black livery of TOYOTA GAZOO Racing’s competition stable. In the case of this road-going model, the options are Platinum White Pearl, Flame Red and Attitude Black. Customers can also opt for Silver and Grey metallic and Dark Blue mica.
The same colours – apart from Attitude Black – are available in a bi-tone finish, combined with a gloss black roof, front and centre pillars and rear spoiler.
Interior Design
The GR SPORT’s interior likewise features styling details exclusive to its status.
The principal colour theme for the upholstery and lining is black, creating an atmosphere that puts the focus firmly on driving. The seats are upholstered in a combination of a grippy, body-holding suede-like materials for the shoulder, back rest and cushion sections and synthetic leather for the bolsters. Silver grey stitching adds a smart contrast on the seats, steering wheel and shift lever. The front seat head rests are embossed with the GR logo in black-on-black.
The sophisticated cabin look is enhanced by dark grey metallic trim details on the steering wheel, air vent bezels and the centre console frame around the shift lever. The GR logo is also applied to the steering wheel and the carpet mats.
The GR SPORT’s high equipment specification includes power adjustment for the front seats and a new version of Toyota’s Panoramic View Monitor, which includes an underfloor view to help the driver check the terrain surface and precisely locate the wheels when manoeuvring at low speed. Further assistance is provided by a new digital reversing camera that provides higher quality real-time images compared to the previous analogue system.
Digital Driver’s Instrument Display
The 12.3-inch driver’s instrument display is fully digital with pin-sharp graphics and the option to customise content to suit the driver’s mood or the journey through four themes: Casual, Smart, Tough and Sporty. The options include three different layouts for the principal meters, while each version keeps a central digital speedometer and shift indicator. The background illumination automatically changes with the selected drive mode.
The display has three distinct multi-information zones. The central section presents the most frequently used information, such as indicators of the car’s advanced safety systems. Those to the left and right provide details of fuel consumption, audio selection and other data; the driver can also personalise the display with a widget highlighting their preferred information.
Multimedia
The RAV4 GR SPORT is fitted with the latest Toyota Smart Connect multimedia system operated using a 10.5-inch touchscreen display. Mounted centrally on the dashboard and shaped to harmonise with the angles of the car’s interior design, the monitor has a seamless black surface and presents graphics in high definition for sharpness and clarity in all lighting conditions.
A permanent, icon-based menu is presented on the driver’s side of the display. Users can also connect their smartphone or tablet to the system – both wired and wirelessly if using Apple CarPlay® or with a wired link for Android Auto®.
The multimedia package includes access to cloud-based journey navigation, which uses constantly updated real-time traffic event information for accurate and efficient route planning. There is also an embedded navigation system that can be used when no data connection to the cloud is available. This has additional functions including highway sign recognition, local weather information and driver alerts when the vehicle is approaching restricted low emission zones (LEZs).
Using voice commands has been made easier with a new “Hey Toyota” on-board voice agent. This will respond to spoken requests to adjust the climate control, choose multimedia options, make a phone call, or open and close the windows. “Hey Toyota” is designed to understand conversational speech, so if you say “I’m cold” it will respond by closing the windows or raising the cabin temperature. With two microphones installed in the instrument panel, the system will recognise and respond to commands from both the driver and front seat passenger. It will also recognise commands amid background noise, so there is no need to turn off the audio.
There is further convenience with any future software tweaks or upgrades delivered seamlessly over the air, via the car’s data communications module (DCM). This means there is no need for the car to be taken to a workshop for a system update. Likewise, the system can be used to update software in the Toyota T-Mate/Toyota Safety Sense.
Remote Services via the MyT App
The driver can access a number of useful functions remotely, via the MyT smartphone app. The familiar worries about whether you have left a window open, the doors unlocked or the lights on after you’ve walked away from your car are addressed with remote notifications to confirm the vehicle is secure. This feature is standard on all RAV4 models.
You can also lock and unlock the doors – a handy feature if someone without a key needs access, for example to drop off a parcel or to clean the car. The hazard lights can also be flashed, making the vehicle easier to spot in a big or busy car park. These features are newly standard on mid-grade models, together with remote operation of the climate control to warm up or cool the cabin before making a journey.
Vehicle status can be checked, including the fuel level and cruising range, health warnings and details of the latest vehicle health check.
Suspension
The RAV4 GR SPORT goes beyond styling and equipment features to deliver an enhanced driving experience with a more handling-tuned suspension.
The front and rear coil springs have been stiffened to put the focus on agility and responsiveness. Changes to the spring coefficient are matched by appropriate adjustment of the shock absorbers’ damping force. On the plug-in hybrid electric model, the spring rates have increased from 30 to 36 N/mm at the front and 49 to 55 N/mm at the rear; on the hybrid electric GR SPORT the respective increases are 28 to 30 and 40 to 46 N/mm.
The well-proven suspension set-up on the RAV4 uses front MacPherson struts with rear double wishbones – both with anti-roll bars.
Powertrains
Hybrid Electric
The hybrid electric RAV4 GR SPORT features Toyota’s well-proven fourth generation full hybrid technology, engineered with lighter and more compact components to help deliver sharper performance and higher efficiency. Full system output is 222 DIN hp/163 kW, enabling 0-100 km/h acceleration in 8.1 seconds.
The powertrain marked the introduction of a 2.5-litre Hybrid Dynamic Force four-cylinder petrol engine. Achieving world-class thermal efficiency, this Atkinson cycle unit delivers a strong balance of fuel economy and power. In the new RAV4 GR SPORT, WLTP combined cycle fuel consumption is 5.8 l/100 km with CO2 emissions of 132 g/km.
Plug-in Hybrid Electric
Toyota delivered the most powerful RAV4 yet with the introduction of a plug-in hybrid electric system that produces a maximum 306 DIN hp/225 kW. This level of power enables acceleration from rest to 100 km/h in 6.0 seconds; raw speed apart, the powertrain is engineered for driveability, with 50% more power available at 60 km/h. Even when driving in all-electric EV mode, performance is brisk, with acceleration comparable to a 2.0-litre petrol vehicle.
Its efficiency is maximised by the car running in EV mode by default, then switching to self-charging hybrid electric running when the charge in the lithium-ion battery is depleted. On a full charge, the RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid GR SPORT can cover up to 75 km (WLTP combined cycle) and reach speeds of up to 135 km/h.
Intelligent, Electric All-Wheel Drive
The RAV4 GR SPORT models are equipped as standard with an intelligent, electric all-wheel drive system – AWD-i. This returns better fuel economy in urban driving, quieter performance at high speeds and improved traction in slippery conditions. It is also more compact and lighter in weight than mechanical AWD systems, so fuel consumption and space inside the cabin and load compartment are not compromised.
AWD-i efficiently generates drive torque using power from the vehicle’s hybrid system and an additional electric motor on the rear axle. This format reduces energy losses, saves weight and optimises all-wheel drive performance in different driving conditions.
Toyota’s development of the technology delivers more torque to the rear wheels, to a maximum 1,300 Nm – matching or surpassing the typical torque achieved with a mechanical system and giving the RAV4 more sure-footed performance, for example when pulling away on loose, slippery surfaces. The front/rear drive torque split can vary from 100:0 to up to 20:80, according to the driving conditions. The ratio is automatically optimised to give improved handling, stability and off-road performance. In particular, the driver will notice more faithful line-tracing through bends in slippery conditions.
AWD Integrated Management
All-wheel drive performance is further improved with AWD Integrated Management (AIM), a unique feature in the RAV4’s class. This automatically adjusts different vehicle systems – steering assist, brake and throttle control, shift pattern and drive torque distribution – according to the drive mode selected, NORMAL, ECO or SPORT. In SPORT mode, AIM modifies the steering assist, throttle control shift schedule and drive torque distribution to gain better on-road performance.
“Escape” Capability with Trail Mode
First introduced with the current generation RAV4, the RAV4 GR SPORT with AWD-i has the added benefit of automatic limited-slip differential control – Trail Mode. This ensures the best possible grip and control on slippery surfaces. It can also provide valuable assistance when tackling challenging off-road conditions.
This counters the risk of the vehicle becoming stranded if a driven wheel loses contact with the ground on very uneven terrain. In this scenario, the driver can engage Trail Mode using a button on the centre console, braking the free rotating wheel and directing drive torque to the grounded wheel. Throttle control and the transmission shift pattern are also adapted to help the driver keep the vehicle moving.
Advanced Safety and Driver Assistance
The new GR SPORT benefits from the enhanced Toyota T-Mate package of safety and driver assistance features introduced across the model range for 2023. This includes additional functions that can warn the driver and help avoid a wider range of common road accident risks.
The Toyota Safety Sense’s Pre-Collision System (PCS) gains intersection support that can help with safer turns at junctions. Provided on both the hybrid electric and plug-in hybrid electric models, this will detect if the car is about to cross the path of any oncoming traffic, and if there are any pedestrians crossing the road into which the vehicle is moving, alerting the driver and, if necessary, initiating braking control to help avoid an impact.
Emergency Steering Assist (ESA) is also newly provided, helping the driver avoid a pedestrian who has stepped into the road, while keeping the car under control and within its traffic lane. On the plug-in model, ESA can additionally detect and respond to a cyclist or a stationary or preceding vehicle,. On the RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid, the system will also recognise and react to bicycles and parked vehicles. The RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid’s PCS also gains the ability to detect oncoming vehicles in the car’s traffic lane in daytime driving and reduce the risk of a head-to-head collision.

2024.05.31 15:44 FragrantDrop3515 warhammer is unbalanced AF

I play warhammer 40k, the tabletop game with one friend... he plays necrons 10th edition and i play tyranids 10th editions. We are relatively new to the game and have played about ten 1000 point games from which i lost all with a huge gap while my friend always forgot lots of things like shooting a unit or charging or simply his reanimation protocolls and still starting turn 3 or four i was down to my last 200 points worth of tyranids and he had about 800 points remaining so i surrenderd.
? ? ? ?
the reason is that necrons are so damn cheap in points looking at one of a few examples like ripper swarms and scarabs swarms
Same stats and ability that is someone alike, but
another example is the skorpek lord which is just busted
80 points for 7 wounds 4+ INVUL save a strenght 10 weapon that hits on 2+, crazy charge damage bonuses, lethal hits and toughness 7
compared to lets say a SpaceM lieutenant who costs 75 points and has 4 wounds, no Invulsave strenght 5 weapon that hits on a 3+, no charge damage, toughness 4 and well he also has lethal hits....

warhammer is a strategy game and when we play i play to win and i try to play smart. focus the big guns get VP and hold Objectives.... his strategy is putting all things in a big bloob and a reanimator in the middle. then he targets my screamer killer which besides my exocrene is my only big damage dealer and just runs down no mans land in a straight line.

i know i dont have the strongest tyranids list because i bought the models which i found where looking the coolest but still. my win chances seem 0%. literally no chance in a game that should not only be about stats and luck. (Even rolling lucky doesn't change my wins chances)

Ancient Source of Philosophies. Three quality stages of development of social myth and agreement.
(Long read)
Humanity historically had three level types of stories. In terms of storytelling, philosophy, law, and societal development, we can identify three main stages throughout the last 260,000 years of human history.
The earliest handprints foundin the Tibetan mountains, likely left with some ritual purpose by children, marked the beginning of the first stage of storytelling. The second stage began at the Mediterranean Sea around 2600 years ago, and the third stage is currently unfolding in the 2020s.
The old rules of the first stage were a list of acting behaviour simulations. The new rules of the second stage were created to give commands on how to create other smaller rules for yourself. Modern life brings this to a higher level third stage once again, with Large Language Models (LLMs). Now, let’s examine in detail what happened at the beginning and during each stage.
Stage 1: List of acting behaviour simulations.
There are two main sub-stages of this prehistoric stage. The first one started approximately 260,000 years ago during the Middle Paleolithic period as a following of ritual. Symbolic rituals were performed by wise people of the tribe, naturally occurring out of the "reptile brain" habits of early humans. Early hominids engaged in various types of dances, screams, and rituals, displaying a high complexity we can observe throughout nature. Fish, birds, and mammals have exhibited similar behaviors for millions of years, akin to building complex artistic architectural structures to impress mates and reproduce.
Thus, during the early stages of human story-making development 260k years ago, complex "animal nature" rituals evolved and became more interesting, deep. After the development of abstract thinking, planning, and imagination, a "magical" progression occurred. Human ancestors managed fire, simple tools, and art, beginning to draw on cave walls. While we may never know precisely why hominids started drawing pictures and symbols, the "theory of a stoned monkey" suggests that psychedelics found in mushrooms, growing on cattle manure, altered their consciousness and led to the "imagination" of symbolism as 2D and 3D art.
Personally, I see a powerful logic in this hypothesis. Altered states of consciousness often bring about new mainstream approaches to reality in modern culture. Salvador Dali, for example, prefigured Photoshop more than 50 years before its invention. He would take science books on biology and draw his layer over existing gravures, connecting the heads of animals to one imaginary body and other such depictions. Early mushroom-tripping shamans could have invented symbolic writing. The natural feeling of Pareidolia brought new versions of reality interpretation, followed by philosophical processing it. Turning a rock that “looks like a stone figure” into a real stone figure with some storytelling potential. Dramaturgical potential.
This symbolic 2D and 3D art, depicted in figures and paintings, constituted the first set of symbols that "newcomers" to rituals could follow. For instance, the "Mother," known as the Venus of Dolní Věstonice, dating back approximately 31,000 years, was likely a totem or toy type replicated many times and found by archaeologists. It held significant meaning, indicating the existence of a "subculture" or cult to produce such figures. Even if we don’t know what it was exactly.
New-borns and those joining the tribe could "read the signs" and discern the mood of the group. If the signs were ominous, suggesting human sacrifices, it reflected the gloomy worldview of the shamanic transmitters. They conveyed this narrative through "mysteries around the fire," focusing on certain aspects of life. So it’s about personal mood and narrative transmission to the group.
New candidates seeking membership in the tribe felt a sense of what to expect and what behaviours they were expected to follow when observing rituals performed by those in power. This "desk of ritual advertisements" from 31,000 years ago remains unchanged to this day.
Every major political power throughout history till now has required a deep core "legend" to justify its existence. Whether democratic or ecological, political parties should agree on fundamental issues like the circumstances under which killing is acceptable and what constitutes appropriate behavior in society. It's worth reminding my American readers that many communist countries, just 40 years ago, had laws automatically classifying any not legally employed “artist” as a "criminal." One could not simply be an artist or working for themself; they were officially labeled as "Tuniyadec," meaning "lazy and not working" in russian language. Thus, different cultures can bring about vastly different societal norms.
Symbolism in ritual dance or drawn pictures conveyed stories with morals on how to behave. These were the first "YouTube videos" of 260,000 years ago. Users watched the ritual performances and observed simulated stories that described desired behaviours dictated by tribal authorities, such as "be brave and crush your enemies" or "follow the great wisdom of our leader" or "always close the cave entrance so saber-toothed tigers couldn't enter at night."
However, this was only the first half of Stage 1: "List of acting behaviour simulations." The second part of this first stage occurred approximately 11,000 years ago. While the earliest precise evidence of complex texts dates back to around 7924 years ago in Mesopotamia. Wise individuals such as Babylonian Hammurabi, with his "Code of Hammurabi," and Egyptian Imhotep, with his famous "Sets of rules," penned down guidelines for the lives of all people. These wise men's rules were accepted and followed by those who identified with a particular tribe or nation. Following these rules, such as "Don’t bring a toaster to the shower," propelled humans forward in terms of quality story creation. Essentially, these were the first prompts for the cities of the Ubaid period. The "Gods" of that era didn't play a critical role in explaining the meaning of life; they were more like city mascots represented by powerful and wealthy groups of rulers. Temples and gods of that time married and destroyed each other, much like companies in today's open market.
Thus, the second sub-stage of basic story-making development took the form of sets of rules, providing simple prompts for small ancient LLMs on how to live successful and noble lives.
But true amazing progress came much later.
2 Stage. "Rules for creating personal rules"
The second "big shift" stage began after some ancient Greek philosophers such as Thales of Miletus (c. 624–c. 546 BCE), the possible "teachers" of Socrates, brought their wisdom to the Mediterranean straight out of Egypt and Babylon. This occurred "only" 2600 years ago, which is literally ten times closer to this date than the beginning of the first stage 260,000 years ago (see Graph 2026 is the year of AI rise).
What happened in this second stage? The symbolism of the early "set of rules" finally transformed into a "set of higher domain rules over direct rules – behavior commands." Early philosophers such as Thales of Miletus, Socrates, and Plato, who formed the first "7 Avengers blockbuster cast," introduced a new way of thinking and storytelling into the developed society of Athens. They distinguished between God, the personal inner feeling of "I" consciousness, and Nature, attempting to explain the rules that these entities used to form relationships between each other. Essentially, this describes "understanding the story of life better" and "creating a better personal story." Early Greek philosophers pondered the substances of which the world is made and got into the dangerous territory of not believing in Gods. Socrates, a 71-year-old man, was executed because 501 judges from Athens, where he had lived all his life and was a celebrity, confirmed that he stated there might be no Gods.
Predictably, this marked the rise of the first actual effective democracies. Why? Because the new type of government in the second stage was ruled by a set of more fundamental rules than just "follow this rule command." It was about morality, finding one's place in the Universe, and a spiritually-philosophical life context.
Notice how the earliest Bible texts of the Christian "Old Testament" were created around that time, such as the epic of Gilgamesh, but Christianity only became "mainstream" over 600 years after ancient Greece.
And this "Ten amendments" idea at the core of Christian philosophy for personal use was the best compression of all the past 260,000 years of examining different practical aspects of stories. Only the best "postulates" that truly drove civilization forward were compressed into this small file with 10 amendments. At the same time, there was a switch from the old 6, 12, 360 Ubaid period mathematical code of life to a modern style of 5, 10, 100.
Simultaneously, Christianity essentially "sells" the same ideas and philosophy of Socrates, packaged in a simplified form of old-style "set of rules" with some exceptions and variations. In terms of story creation or philosophy creation quality, we can say that the Bible and similar written works were a progressive merge of stages, albeit with a certain delay and a rediscovery of ideas known for 600 years.
It resembles the modern situation when a group of early fans knows about a music band, but the band needs to make something "more mainstream and easy to consume" for the general public to appreciate it and like their music. This is the weak point of the Cultural Colossus of all humanity. The majority of society and its average "IQ level and desires" tend to set trends, which are not always beneficial for society in the long run. However, throughout history, despite the efforts of many unintelligent individuals to sabotage progress, we see a trend of complex human behaviour towards development.
The new rules from Greek philosophers and the Bible didn't tell you exactly what to do; instead, they taught you how to figure out how to behave in different stories that could happen to you.
The development of complex morality, court systems, and social group representative systems led to a huge leap in culture, arts, and technology. This thinking was a system of shortcuts to bring direct wisdom to every human, like creating zip files for humans. Easier to upload into your head, and you'll unpack it later throughout your life. So, this was an improved version of the ancient 260,000-year-old chat GPT model. It aimed to create the modern "You."
Now, people had direct rules and a philosophical system to create direct rules for themselves.
The third big stage is happening now.
3 Stage. Artificial Intelligence.
I congratulate us all to be live witnesses of these events. I need to make a deeper explanation why AI is a messiah of a Third new stage of humanity's story-making behaviour. And it’s not so bizarre.
The thing is, our complex thoughts about anything happen to be fully computational, “soulless” products, constructs of us thinking using words.
There are no self-conscious thoughts without knowing words.
Using this developed sign language to exchange complex ideas, we lost the feeling of the domain source of our “conscious intelligent thinking miracle”.
Reverse-engineering of human language automatically decomposed the thinking processes too. Layers and layers of computational operations about what is the best word or thought to create in your head next after the previous one was executed, depending on the task that is set, is delicately repeated by LLMs. It is fascinating to see today’s progressing GPT chatbots. They seem to have all that it takes to be called intelligent. They could pass the Turing test, but still, we see they lack self-perception, motivation, emotions, feelings, and subconsciousness and sub-personalities system. I wrote “could pass Turing test” because actually we can’t understand 100% as for now if LLMs can really do what we planned it to do when creating the Turing test at the first place. In 2023 the new stage of human stories development quality happened when ChatGPT “broke the Turing test”. Which can sound as a clickbait article title but actually is a deep philosophical fact. Chat GPT was trained on data of Turing test. So it can pass Turing test and any other tests because GPT was trained to do that. So there is no way to “catch chat GPT by hand” when it acts non-human when following some tests because by teaching it how to pass that exact test we will return the illusion of it being intelligent and conscious. What is the last test for Chat GPT to pass to become a real boy? I think we will see when we get to that step it’s far from that as for now.
Why then they are so “human-like?” Because they follow all computational rules of creating the best story. About the past or the future. LLMs use obtained experience of humans and build any logical chain needed to empirically create the most relevant output for any prompt. In other words, they perfectly follow the story-making (dramaturgical) rules of our reality. Each story has a reason, the goal, and the characters that follow their way to the goal. And words in this world are needed to describe and create any complex story. That’s what AI is doing now.
The main law of fundamental dramaturgy is “the best story wins”.
So the prediction of the current stage of humanity's progress in story creating is joyful enough. The shift to “Self-Conscious AI” would be transparent and noticeable only looking backwards on all events. Sooner or later AI will take over the main thing it was made for: It will take over the story-creating process of humanity. Any story you need will be created with the help of AI because it will do a better story in every way. Like a story of what you need to do in your life or where to work, or a best story for your private movie franchise. Or a best story of why we need some exact science research program, or how to make a profitable business. When AI will provide a better reason for you to do anything, then you could think of yourself, we will truly feel the highest rise of Intelligence. And only this event will fully confirm that we are shifted to the third stage. Grab some popcorn, observe and don’t forget to take part in it! You or one of your pals might be the next AI powered Socrates.

2024.05.31 12:27 zimbabwegian Gigabyte 3090 'Gaming Box' eGPU and Dell Optiplex 13700T

Hi there,
I have been offered a great deal to buy a friends Aorus Gaming Box (https://www.gigabyte.com/Graphics-Card/GV-N3090IXEB-24GD#kf - RTX3090, 24GB) which he's no longer using.
Ideally, I would like to connect it to my Optiplex MFF 7010 (https://www.dell.com/en-uk/shop/desktop-computers/optiplex-micro/spd/optiplex-7010-plus-micro/s007o7010mffp\_vp), which I use for work; and if possible, I would also like to connect my Quest3 headset (via TB/USBc... ?!?) to utilise the high end graphics card for VR CAD modelling/ rendering... all at the same time.
How do I do it? I vaguely understand that I'll probably need an M.2 adapter for the Optiplex... after that, the rest of it I'm sketchy.
The Quest3 can be tethered using a 20/40GBPS USBc cable to deliver power and external graphics to the headset.
This chap (https://egpu.io/forums/builds/2023-dell-optiplex-7010-mff-13th14ct-gigabyte-rtx-4060-aero-32gbps-m-2x4adt-link-r43sg-win-11-no-enclosure/) used an ADT-Link R43SG M.2 NVMe to PCIe adapter to connect the two units. I saw that the Gen4 2023 ADT-Link K43SG M.2 NVMe to PCIe adapter was also suggested. In my instance, the Gaming Box already comes in an enclosure with it's own logic board (incl. TB3, ethernet and 3x USB3.0 ports).
Teardown of a similar Gaming Box is here: https://egpu.io/forums/postid/93614/
If anyone is able to offer advice, I would appreciate it.
Many thanks!

2,000 shares - 4 vouchers
5,000 shares - 6 vouchers
10,000 shares - 10 vouchers

Comment

The chances of winning the concert tickets are so low that you should probably not value them at all, although if you are a huge fan of the groups and happen to win then this could be the best perk you get all year. The spa vouchers are more valuable and can easily be used to relax for a day, or provide a gift to make someone very happy. The vouchers scale well up to the 2,000 share level.

2024.05.31 10:15 tradingwhistleblower Wake up, Neo

Do you remember that scene in The Matrix where Neo realizes that everything is fake, when he spots that glitch in the Matrix by the black cat passing by? That the world around him is just created for him to believe and to follow one path, to stay in that one reality? This is kind of the same thing.
So we're gonna say here, wake up, NEO. We call this unveiling the truth of the brokerage and prop firm industry.
99.9% of people who trade on brokers assume that if they place a trade, that trade actually enters the market. They believe that the trade moves something and impacts something.
Let's say you trade USD/JPY, and you take $30,000 of your hard-earned money or that your parents gave you for your bar mitzvah and put it into a broker.
Then you use that to go 100x leverage on a Japanese Yen trade. It is quite a cool feeling to think that you participate in the international markets, and that you have some sort of impact.
But, dear friends, the truth is, you are not. Most brokers use one thing called B-Book. Here's a summary of what A-Book and B-Book are:
So what went from, "Hey, we're just a broker, and we make money on spreads and commissions, and we kind of all know that this business is not really that great because you have to push people to trade more and more," to, "Hey, we just internalize all of your trades. We know that maybe 97% or 98% of day traders are not really profitable."
Imagine a beautiful business model where you can keep the deposits or trades and never pass them on. That's really nice, isn't it?
The technology your brokers are working with looks for probability detection. It’s built by a couple of 200-iq quant guys who really love statistical models.
They say:
"Okay, if you're from that demographic, that age, trade at this time with this behavior, you are probably not profitable."
They never pass on your trades if you are labeled in their system as not profitable. If you are, in an unlikely way, profitable, they pass on your trades, and you get A-Booked.
But the beautiful thing is that if you get A-Booked, your trades get passed on to another market participant. And maybe this market participant says, "Hey, wait a second. What if that trade is not profitable?" Then this market participant B-Books you.
So nobody ever actually knows who’s a booking. Nobody knows.
Insider rumors suggest that if you, as a broker, send too much profitable traffic to an LP, they will eventually cut your order flow and tell you to go elsewhere.
So if you are a participant in forex or stocks, or let's just call it the national market, you never ever know if your trade actually reaches any kind of liquidity provider. You're basically a single small fish trading against the banks, the algorithms, the big machines, and it's all built for you to fail.
You’re kind of stuck in an endless b-book limbo. Is it fake, or is it just a dream? Nobody knows?
In another episode of this article, we'll also write about prop firms because this is really a dream come true of A-B booking, and market participants are just really betting against you.
It’s you vs the machines all over again.
Stay safe out there, and know that it's all B-Book.
Or that while it all seems fun and games, and you think your broker wants you to win because they have “educational blogs” on their website, they’re making (more) money if you lose.
How to escape?
Well, there’s a link to my telegram link in the description… just kidding.
I guess you find a good mentor (I’m not one of them), spend some time on the charts, and realise that you’re one nervous wreck of an emotional being that is naturally not built to trade.
But I still think you can make it.
Beat the odds.

2024.05.31 04:52 fruity_soda How can I change my mindset to want to pursue excellence?

Hi everyone.
Very happy that sghenry is created. Compared to SGFI, it seems to be a safe space for me to start this thread without getting flamed (hopefully). I’ve been feeling a general sense of malaise for many years and it seems to be caused by my lack of motivation to grind and pursue excellence in anything that I do. This has been the theme of my life since young. Why study so hard to be cream of the crop/get scholarship (etc) when I can be above average with moderate effort? Why put in effort to train at sports/win championships when I can run around with my friends? Why hustle at work when I can earn above average income with moderate effort? Why work out so hard to achieve a model appearance when a basic 30-45 mins workout (4-5 times a week) can allow me to more or less maintain my physique? Why put in so much effort to learn the technicalities of investment when I can follow boring generic investment advice and execute through automation? I’m nearing my mid 30s, and have always picked the path of least stress/resistance. I live like a moderately-rich college student (paradoxical) without the stress of exams. I mostly spend on food (salads, avo on toasts, overpriced beverages, etc), peace of mind, health and convenience. If it’s not a vice and if it cannot bankrupt me, I just do it. As for luxury goods or other material possessions - nope, too stressful. Travel? I still travel about 2-3 times a years but it's getting mehhh. I travelled quite a bit when young and all the cities are starting to feel the same to me. Travelling is also kinda stressful tbh. I also don’t have kids because it is probably stressful. Even my job is not really stressful - by the stroke of luck I’ve landed myself a generally braindead and cushy job (individual contributor, no direct reports, sure there are occasional crunch times but I don’t work more than 3-4 hours a day on average, mostly don’t go into the office even though I’m supposed to as my manager is overseas anyway). I’ve more or less accepted the fact that I’m basically unemployable if I were to lose this job - I don't have the physical or mental will to look for new job or to (gasp) commute to work everyday or most days. It is quite scary but somehow still doesn’t light a fire under my ass. While not at the FI level that I want to be, I have about 27 years of annual expenses at moderate level expenditure saved/invested (excluding CPF). My husband loves to work - he is happy to pay for the mortgage and most dates/things. Anyway, our monthly mortgage is low and I can pay off the entire mortgage on my own if push comes to shove and will still have 2 decades of savings/investments remaining.
Of course, I’m not under any illusion that I would achieve a prestigious scholarship, obscenely high-paying job, Victoria Secrets body or high passive income if I had put in the effort. My point is that I don’t even try. I'm somehow so easily content to live in a middling way. I can’t find any motivation to put in the effort because: (1) I probably don’t desire the outcome that much and (2) the outcome doesn’t seem to be worth hard work. I feel like I’m operating at 50% capacity in terms of effort, and spend the rest of my energy/time idling and puttering about. I am really good at wasting time although I also know that time you enjoy wasting is probably not wasted.
I’m not depressed or anything (or at least I hope I'm not). While I'm generally happy go lucky (most people would have that impression of me and I also view myself this way), I really admire and am lowkey envious of people who are striving towards goals (it doesn't even need to be monetary)! How can I change my mindset? How can I find something to strive towards? How can I want to strive towards excellence in something?
The crowd here seems to be a motivated bunch - please enlighten me!

This is a response to this video by Kurzgesagt.

A few comments of mine:
Romanticizing / idealizing this journey like the music in this video suggests, is dangerous. Generally speaking, music indeed resonates with me currently in a way which I always longed for – but only occasionally do I allow myself to immerse myself fully, as any such fantasies can be exploited by the system to sell you a fake world.
I’m also not that birb in the thumbnail of the video – at least not “the chosen one”. “The chosen one” is misleading – first of all, I have come to realize by now that at least the most lucid phenomena mentioned here and here were induced by the system. I tend to leave comparatively insignificant mistakes up because I’d rather stand by them than to hide them, and I’ll continue not to change it to uphold the integrity of the storyline.
Secondly, I have also recently come to learn that both of my parents seem to be Monarch Slaves themselves - and I don’t just say that casually. There are clear indicators, though I can’t say with 100% certainty. Thinking back, more of my life had probably been manipulated and controlled than I’d assume, including large-scale measures already (the Anime adaptation of “From the New World” comes to mind… I really loved that Anime. Even “Devilman Crybaby” doesn’t seem improbable, and apparently even the emo movement in Germany is a possibility). By everything I’ve come to learn, I now assume that if you’re at the top in any given field (especially or at least in entertainment / media, politics and finance), then only if you’re compromised by the Luciferians – if you’re either a pedophile or a Monarch Slave (or in my case, disabled).
Be aware that my public image is not the same as I am in private. I am dopey as fuck, I suffer from several mental illnesses, I am disabled, I’m not very good as maths, geography and history, I’m volatile and have troubles controlling my anger, I could be more educated, my hairs falling out and I have a small dick (at least in its flaccid state, erect it’s close to average). The real superpower lies in the pursuit of truth as elaborated on, here. If I am truly advanced in anything, it’s in that - though I don’t mean that in a greedy power-seeking sort of way: “The strength of a person's spirit [can] be measured by how much truth he could tolerate” – Nietzsche.
Every individual is unique – my strengths lie in psychology, philosophy and art. But you might be good at maths, physics, service, finance or sales, a craftsman, athletic or disciplined. Try to bring your unique strengths to the table and don’t get discouraged if you’re not as good at something as someone else.
This isn’t a game (although you can conceptualize life, while best conceived as a story, as a set of games). The goal is to achieve freedom of speech - best would be peacefully. Anyone of you can be easily kidnapped or killed by people who you’ll never surpass in their physical training, so try your best in telling the truth, not lying, aiming for minimum necessary force and resisting everything they throw at you.
Personally, I don’t want to end up in a reality which consists of an illusionary game once again where a minority of people will be turned into heroes trained with a never-ending carrot on a stick “to advance humanity”, while the majority of people will be turned into expediency-seeking brainwashed zombies as their adversaries. The idea is that this mode of being is right – and that people can be forgiven if they become honest, transparent and owe up to their mistakes. I genuinely believe that my being isn’t as coupled with heroism as one might perceive, but that there are fundamentally two modes: You resist threats – which frees you up to do what you think is right, or you don’t and you’ll be turned into a henchman to one degree or another. So, either there’ll be an actual revolution (Civil disobedience) or humanity will actually succumb to perpetual darkness – only that the real perpetrator isn’t God - it’s Luciferianism.
Generally speaking, I resist everything – and I absolutely mean it. Exceptions are with signs of love or similar social interactions – it’s just too twisted to tell someone you love them if you get threatened with them getting tortured for it. If there was a cultural consensus, meta or consent in this regard, it’d be easier, but as it stands currently, people are facing the wrong way. Some similar actions are more about fulfilling myself, in which case I am less (if at all) compromising. There is no hard rule which I can sufficiently follow in this regard, so I always go by feeling.
Reality is not black-and-white, but shades of gray, as you must know. Trying to apprehend reality in all its facets is a strength. When it comes to rules, exceptions need to be made from time to time, but they mustn’t become the rule – so break them at your peril. A good rule of thumb is to ask yourself if you break a rule out of expediency, complacency, or necessity.
Understand that you can understand things at different levels of analysis and different resolutions. These can be shallow or deep, detailed or superficial, at the core, origin or root of something. Profound, fundamental or axiomatic, high or transcendent. These adjectives might be best conceptualized or visualized through nodes among other nodes where those nodes stand for elements, aspects or parts of reality. For example: At the base (e.g. “profound”) or at the middle (e.g. “core”) of something. This can also apply to a place in time (for example “origin”), or a spot in a value hierarchy (e.g. “high”) / inversed value hierarchy.
You who’s angry is a different you then you who’s in love, in other words: Your personality consists of sub-personalities. Becoming able to assess if part of you believes one thing and another part of you something else, parts of you want some things and other parts of you want other things, in other words: To assess yourself in all your complexity can be a vital necessity, so can be the ability to detect whether you’re overthinking something. Integrating those perspectives into one is then how you can reach the core of your beliefs. By paying attention to your body or emotions, you’ll be able to feel whether you believe something you say, to be true or not.
You need to familiarize yourself with Carl Jung’s concepts of the Shadow, Persona, Ego, Self, Anima and Animus – to integrate your shadow is important (for example, to be able to confront malevolence within and outside of yourself). It’s also important to understand that you have a relationship with yourself, as much as you have relationships with other people. As such, you are responsible for treating yourself with love – as well as in a disciplinary manner. When I assess myself from a more objective standpoint (i.e: outside perspective), I often talk to myself in second person (i.e: “you”) – when I think with my shadow more integrated, I often think in plural (“we”). It’d be very nice of you if you reward yourself sometimes with some positive words, if you’ve done something good, e.g. “Hey, you did a good thing.”
On the idea of God, I have elaborated here. How to integrate one’s narcissism in one’s actions, I have elaborated on, here. Strictly speaking, you don’t know anything. And the map is not the territory, meaning that what you perceive of yourself or reality is not actually that, but a representation of such. A personality test like the Big Five personality test can help you understand yourself and others ten to a hundred times better.
In its simplest, (deepest) binary form, reality can be conceptualized as chaos and order. Although I’ve been “boycotting” him since it’s become obvious that he’s been playing the Antichrist all along (though I’ll soon pick up on it in preparation for my next video), it’s best if you watch some Jordan Peterson videos on this matter. If you’re into deep learning, I highly recommend reading “Maps of Meaning”. Land of Meaning is a good map for some of these teachings. “12 rules for life” is a recommended read for basically everyone.
Familiarizing yourself with logical fallacies can help you in arguments or debates. This is something you’ll naturally come to if you dedicate yourself to the truth. You don’t need to familiarize yourself with the name of a particular fallacy, to detect it: If you can argue why an argument is fallacious, it’s fine.
My best friend is a to-do list. I do not otherwise adhere to a schedule, partially to be less predictable, partially because as someone who’s temperamentally low in conscientiousness, I am more efficient this way. I take breaks about two days a week, decided by an eight-sided transparent die. Every time after I roll it, I roll it a few more times to make sure it wasn’t loaded, and play around with it in my hands, in hopes of catching any optical glitches, in case I was manipulated visually.
I tend to “go with the flow” with regards to manipulations of my inner being – I take a nap when the system makes me tired during the day and wank off when it makes me sexually aroused. All that obviously lends it control, but there seems to be no point in fighting it and I basically act with the faith that so long as I adhere to actions which I consider ethical, the truth will win.
I write down a lot of notes and I often talk out loud in my apartment. I don’t compromise on my thoughts when “talking to them” in my apartment (in quotation marks, because while I am obviously being listened to by some intelligence agencies and probably at least the highest within the Illuminati, conceptually I am usually acting out a fantasy because naturally I sort-of create avatars of them in my mind, and the purpose of such is not so much to speak to them but for me to articulate my thoughts or to vent my anger). Only when making these thoughts public, I take care not to be unnecessarily rude or brazen.
That being said, I basically never compromise on the truth. If I think that something needs to be said, I say it - even then, I try not to be unnecessarily or excessively hurtful towards anyone who needs help. This is part of the concept that telling the truth means more than just writing words on a paper or creating vibrations in the air, but an enacted reflection of reality including ethical actions. This also means that you don’t necessarily or simply say everything which comes to your mind, but put some choice into your words to, for example, be more precise, concise, or for any other stylistic, rhetoric or artistic device – to choose what you say or disclose, is your right.
It’s difficult to conceive (and I don’t like to over-concretize all this, if at all), but I tend to enter different emotional stances in response to different interpretations. I most often seem to come back to a “neutral” emotional state after neutralizing a manipulation, heightened awareness out of anxiety otherwise, (deep) vigilance with which I often counteract any conceptualization which seems too mundane to me and piercing eyes / aggression when thinking about how I want to go against them. These are though, my own ways which I developed naturally in dealing with the situation, and I encourage you to explore.
The system will constantly put you under time pressure to induce stress and anxiety, which can on one hand enhance your performance in some areas, but also makes you more impulsive, suggestible and easy to control, so it’s best not adhered to. It’s important to keep your cool in tense situations, to take a step back and assess the big picture. You can view an overview of some of my values, methods and tactics in dealing with the situation, here.
Generally speaking, I treat everything which is communicated to me by the system, as a manipulation. As I mentioned here, I generally reflect upon an influence to neutralize it. Even then, it is often able to nudge me into reconsidering a specific choice of words for example. Such influences are an inevitable result of considering something it communicates as a possibility (out of many), instead of being strictly true or false (which doesn’t work). The observation has been that in freemasonry, one sells their soul to the devil for knowledge - so I don’t wanna go there. I can always educate myself through books (regarding which these are apparently good recommendations) and videos (of which these two are good channels: Academy Of Ideas, Eternalised). I don’t want to enter any rabbit hole through coded speech, as I consider those inherently manipulative. The hypothesis is that by evading or neutralizing most manipulations, the system has to work harder / is incentivized to make them clearer and thus, I can devote more of my mind to things which actually matter, instead of entering an illusionary reality woven through manipulative means of communication. Relatively impactful ideas which are communicated thus become comparatively rare, with a few notable ones recently having been for instance the owner’s suite / lounge on this Yacht which seems to be modeled after the colors / theme of my apartment and appears to be made deliberately in a silly or distasteful manner (the colors in my apartment also came about primarily due to the desire to appeal). This I found very interesting and frankly, I wouldn’t have expected any less. This apartment which I perceived as conveying a particular idea (hypothetical or real), which has made me feel very strongly about all this, and this picture of Prince Charles, the reality behind which I perceived as very real (though possibly, in the shadow of a person).
However, if something grabs your interest, it’s usually best to follow it… the problem is that the system can manipulate you in that, too. Everything surrounding conscious phenomena in fact, and a whole bunch of things surrounding your body, too. My experience has been that if a phenomenon is ego-syntonic, it’s better to accept it. I elaborated more on authenticity here and in truth I’d rather get tortured for who I am than survive as someone who I’m not… I think.
What’s probably most advanced (and difficult) to deal with is what I call “triple-binds”. The system might act genuinely good towards you sometimes, but one must not forget that what Satan would do precisely is to pretend to be good. Simultaneously, one must also not dismiss the benevolent aspect of their heart. The result is that I can’t trust them, but I can have some faith in them. One must take care not to overvalue that aspect of reality while still considering it at least a possibility, yet still neutralizing manipulations in this sphere and adhere to one’s sense of ethics, truth and minimum necessary force and it might work out. It is a brainfuck, but combining several techniques such as the ones mentioned above (including emotionally or conceptually shutting off perspectives to the extent that they’re too abusive), it can work out. The system might not overexert you in this regard.
While being godlike, trusting this system is a bad idea, since as I elaborated here, you only incentivize it to walk the path of least resistance… and that is to use you (or betray you). It’s the quintessential problem with Luciferian being, though you can still do it if you’d rather be a slave, or a villain and a slave. Personally, I conceptualize it similar to a scorpion… it’s in its nature to sting. You could also conceptualize it a femme fatale or a sexual predator if you want - it’s certainly parasitic.
If you walk this path, you must know that it’s generally always feinting weakness, focuses on keeping you in chaos and laying traps. However, it’s best not to avoid them if it means to be silent (the way I treat them, is to try not to write anything impulsively, and uncover the unfair, deceitful or manipulative tricks which I can see being inherent to them). In a No-Win situation, it’s best to think creatively.
Best of luck.
