TLDR version:
Wokeness is a problem because it allows idiots to try to deflect the conversation onto other topics or areas and try to draw pushes for change out longer to win by attrition or just scaring off potential opponents via calls for action against existing ones. It is a convenient shield too easily deployed and unfortunately effective (though growing less so with each use)
So I figured I'd write this because some people here might be able to use it as ammo in counter arguments and some of those hate viewing this sub might see it and realise their tactics aren't going to keep working.
So to start I'd better define what I mean by wokeness.
For me Wokeness is attempting to look progressive but without thinking things through or putting in actual work, example many race swaps where they end up actually becoming the supposedly harmful tropes progressive people have been claiming to rally against or just outright end up stupid or offensive. Actual examples for people without naming the properties:

• Race swap a character so she's now an very overtly sexual Indian girl (lesser known trope but fits into the exotic beauty trope along with tropes about Indian women)
• Race and gender swapping a character such that the character become a black female Nazi.
• Making the default skin for the frontline soldier class in the game a black man (South Park made a joke about this kind of thing years before and still a video game did it)

So why is wokeness a problem?
Well because some idiots who want to look progressive can't seem to analyse anything actually critically anymore or can and choose to ignore the issues for fear of being called bigots and potentially thrown under the bus (having been under that bus, I can see why people wouldn't want to but trust me you survive it and it's better on the other side of the bus) so will rush to defend anything.
In an attempt to "own the evil right wing gamers" or something a number of publications in the past rushed to declare how evil gamers were sending death threats to developers over EA™ Star Wars™ Battlefront™ 2, it went on for close to a week until of all sites (and link the non archive if this because they did good here) Jason Schrier then of Kotaku looked into it and revealed it was all made up by some-one larping on twitter pretending to be a developer at DICE.

People online on about "Oh it's stupid gamers care about wokeness and not [insert other issues in the industry]" first generally only bring those issues up as a distraction and second they often fall for corporate woke displays done to hide and distract from issues.
As an example of a bigger thing outside of gaming. You know the company that paid for "Fearless girl" that statue of a little girl facing the Wall Street Bull that feminists were fawning over and on about how it was all about female empowerment and anyone against it hated women? Yeh the company behind it had and lost a $5 Million sex discrimination lawsuit for paying women in the same job, in the same roles and same level less than men generally across the company.

But you'll find far more online about Fearless girl than the lawsuit. Far more push to make that the argument and focus and not the lawsuit happening at the time behind the scenes.
In video game examples. It seemed like every time Activision Blizzard was in trouble a character in Overwatch was revealed as gay / lesbian such that it became a joke. In Overwatch 2 where you have to basically pay for Heroes now, I've seen people on about how some new character has a non binary gender identity and that's why people don't like Overwatch 2, not the far higher skin prices, not the paying to unlock new heroes not apparently people don't hate it for those reasons according to the games defenders.
That's the worse part of wokeness though, even if people do bring up actual issues people can and will go "Oh you just hate Starfield due to the pronouns really, all the other stuff you brought up is an excuse you really only hate the pronouns" and it tries to drag the argument to being about elements people didn't mention.
So yes wokeness is a problem because it turns what should be a cut and dry "This stuff is bad, everyone would benefit without it" people vs corporations / corporate greed / poor quality output into protracted fights that put others off from joining because they don't want to be attacked and face going under the bus unless they already have been and generally requires overwhelming community voices to be heard over the games defenders and the so called journalists who are more than happy to echo whatever corporate line they're told to echo and so will help shift the focus normally to appeasing companies and framing objections to the material as bigots. To this day there are so called journalists who claim Mass Effect 3's ending controversy was just some cover for bigots who hated the gay characters in the game and that the ending was not a problem at all.

Headlines transcript:
The former Fernald institution continues to make news, with three major stories in the past month. On April 4, GBH News reported that US Department of Health and Human Services Civil Rights Division has opened an investigation into the apparent mishandling of patient records that were left out in the open when the institutions closed and not removed from the site until this year. The investigation is in response to a complaint filed by the Disability Law Center as well as a privacy breach report filed by the state Department of Developmental Services, which operated the Fernald. According to DDS those records are now in a storage facility as privacy lawyers determine what should be done with them.
Another story from GBH on 4/11 focused on the concerns raised by Waltham residents and members of the disability community about the city’s plans for the site and the decision-making process. On the same day, the Boston Globe published an article revealing that the State Police also used the Fernald site for storage, and left behind records and physical evidence related to criminal cases from 1985 through 2008, including a double murder. According to the Globe, evidence was still on the site and was reported to Mayor McCarthy and other city officials in 2015, but it wasn’t removed by State Police until 2017.
On the morning of 4/17 about 30 people including two city councilors showed up at the Fernald for a site visit announced by the city, only to find it had been canceled. The city currently has requests for proposals posted seeking lessees for five of buildings at the site. The Purchasing department initially planned site visits for some of the buildings on 4/10 and the rest on 4/17, then postponed the 4/10 visit and announced that all of the buildings could be viewed on 4/17. They later posted an addendum saying that 4/17 visit was canceled and prospective bidders could look at photos of the site online instead.
The Fernald has also been the subject of discussion in the Conservation Commission, where the city’s recreation director turned down a request from the commission to visit the area that’s under construction. You may recall in a meeting in March a member of the commission raised concerns that the current work may be in violation of state law because of a feature on the site which may be a wetland. The recreation director joined their 4/1 meeting and explained she did not involve the commission in the approval process because she doesn’t believe it is in their jurisdiction, based on a report from a consultant hired by the project engineer, which said the feature in question is not a wetland. The commission has voted to hire a second consultant to do a peer review, and she said the peer reviewer will have access to the site, but members of the commission will not. We’ll discuss all of those Fernald updates more on our Debrief show.
On 4/4 Mayor McCarthy sent a memo to the city council asking them to re-examine the minimum parking space requirements for new or renovated buildings in our zoning ordinances, arguing that “In many areas of the City, permitted density and lack of parking has created a nightmare for residents.” The mayor was present at the 4/16 meeting of the Rules & Ordinances Committee to discuss this issue as well as the possibility of setting up a permitting system for commercial vehicles parked in Waltham. Our team is working on a special report where we’ll take a closer look at parking issues in the city and their relationship to housing issues.
On 4/26 the city of Waltham filed a lawsuit against its own Zoning Boarding of Appeals over a decision involving a three-family home on South St. that was damaged in a fire back in 2019. The owner, who lives in Bedford, has not yet rebuilt the house and had not demolished the burnt structure by December of 2022, when the city’s building department sent him a “Remove and Make Safe” order. According to the complaint submitted to Middlesex Superior Court by the city’s law department on behalf of the building inspector, three family homes are no longer allowed in that area under the current zoning. The ordinance would have allowed the owner to re-build the structure as a three-family home if he had done so within a year of the fire, but he missed that deadline. On April 5, the ZBA voted to approve variances requested by the owner that will allow him to rebuild the three-family. The complaint argues the ZBA exceeded their authority by extending the deadline set forth in the ordinance, and asks the court to reverse that decision.
In school news, two library teachers at Waltham High School have been honored by the Massachusetts Commission on LGBTQ Youth. According to a press release from the commission, at their 3/30 “Gayla” Reba Tierney and Joyce Guelli received the Advocacy in Education Award for being “unwavering in their efforts to ensure that all students feel seen, heard, and represented in the educational materials” and helping to “foster an environment of acceptance and understanding within the school community.” The state commission was one of the first government offices in the world to address the wellbeing of queer youth in schools starting in 1992.
We learned last week a popular portion of the Charles River bike and pedestrian path near Waltham Center is closed for the summer. On 4/26 the state Department of Conservation and Recreation, which is responsible for the Charles river Greenway, announced in a social media post that the section between Moody St. and Prospect St. will be closed until October to allow for maintenance on the benches, path, and riverbank.
On April 24 Councilor Katz arranged a visit for Ward 7 residents to the offices of Boston Properties to learn about planned changes to the rotary that connects route 20 to route 128 near the Cedarwood neighborhood. Those plans include adding traffic lights and removing one of two on-ramps to the northbound side of 128, and work is expected to begin next year. Kristine Mackin from our team attended that visit and she’ll have more details for you on our Debrief show.
At a meeting on April 28 the Waltham Public Library unveiled plans to apply for a grant from the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners to fund its first major renovation in about 30 years. The library hopes to not only address some of its current facilities issues such as lack of sufficient bathrooms and air conditioning, but also make improvements to its makerspace and other programmatic areas. Kristine was also at that meeting and will have more details for you on the Debrief.
Charles River Food Co-Op, a group that has been working on creating a community-owned food store in Waltham or nearby, has an event coming up May 5. They’ll be screening the film “Food for Change” at the West Newton Cinema at 10am, and you can find more info on their website charlesriverfood.coop.

I live in the U.S. and recently started a new job at a place that makes pizzas. One of the items in the kitchen for making said pizzas is a dough roller, used to flatten out the dough more in order for it to be spread out in a pan for a crust. In order to clean this machine at night after closing, you are REQUIRED to unplug the machine before beginning any type of cleaning of it. There are at least 3 safety signs on the machine stating what NOT to do, including a big bold one that says "WARNING: UNPLUG MACHINE BEFORE CLEANING."
On my second day there, I was told an incident about a co-worker where he did NOT unplug it and began cleaning it. It ended up getting turned on by him while he was cleaning it and got his hand stuck. He eventually got it out. Now, this in any other circumstance should have led to him being instantly fired. This did not however for a specific reason. This co-worker is allegedly mentally handicapped. And by his mannerisms and speech, I can absolutely see him being on the spectrum. His parents were very much aware of this and came to the store threatening to sue the company for firing him because he is mentally handicapped. So, unfortunately, corporate tucked their tail between their legs and kept him, even though he is, without a doubt in my opinion, a safety hazard to himself and his co-workers to an extent.
When I heard this, to me, it was very obvious they had a legitimate reason to fire him, but because of the threat of a lawsuit against the company for discrimination, they kept him on. I even told them that the company has a legitimate argument to their supposed discrimination suit. They had warning labels all over the machine warning what NOT to do, the have multiple witnesses to the incident, and they have surveillance footage of the incident as well. They also told me that the mother said that if they did sue and lost, they would keep fighting it until they won, which I don't think the judge would even let them, given what evidence the company has for it being a legitimate firing. Also, supposedly, the person's parents are, to quote one of my co-workers, "rich hicks who are well respected in the community," so they, allegedly, have the money to keep fighting it till they win.
In my opinion on this, the mentally handicapped co-workers parents do not have a strong case, if any case, to sue the company for discrimination against someone who is mentally handicapped. While the company has more than enough evidence to prove they can fire this person for a legitimate reason. Now, this is not a hate post against those on the spectrum. I have a lot of friends that are in some way, shape, or form. This is a legitimate question I am asking. Does the company I work for have a good case to prove that they can fire this mentally handicapped co-worker for a legitimate reason or not? I tried to word this the best I could according to the subreddits rules, so apologies if anything is too much information or too little.

THE PRESENT DAY: “ASK ME ANYTHING (WELL, NOT QUITE)”

"Ask me anything" titles are catchy, and that’s why I’m using one. But, obviously, don’t ask me anything, by which I mean that, if you think I wouldn’t answer it, you’re probably right. Ask me something really good. I’d love to answer you. I’d love to have comments on these posts, in fact, so that I could answer questions there regularly and ask you things as well, but insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results, or so Einstein is supposed to have said, and attempting to create yet another interactive online venue after every previous attempt has ended in heartbreak—forums, facebook groups, social media accounts—it would indeed be insanity to think that this time would be any different. So there are no comments. This too is heartbreaking in the sense that, and you may not realize this, but I desperately want to connect more completely with you—to be able to intelligently converse and share and exchange. We can do that in person, of course, because the wrong people never show up in person. Isn’t that funny… So, perhaps we’ll have to arrange that;). I’ll start you off with an example question I’d want to know if I were you (I can almost guarantee that you do not want to know this). Q. Hey EA, how do you keep your wireless bodypack transmitter secure when you are leaping about in skimpy costumes and doing frequent costume changes? Also, dye your roots. A. Sooo. For the past five-ish years, the vibe in the Asylum has been that of a protracted Christmas dinner where everyone is tensely moving their food around in their plate, bracing themselves for whatever will trigger the screaming match. Wondering what it's going to be this time. Weary old-timers make small talk about the food because no other topic feels safe. Every glance, every forced smile, is fraught with eons-old grudges and unspoken regrets; every nervous pleasantry sounds like a thinly-veiled accusation. Aunt Emilie always insists on hosting, but not-so-secretly hates having people over. Sooner or later, she finds a way to get all of these assholes out of her house. Most of the adult children are daydreaming about going no-contact.

YE OLDEN DAYS: CUCKOOS OF A FEATHER NEST TOGETHER

In the beginning, it was beautiful.
EA had the excellent instinct to start banking on her online presence📝 long before MySpace was even a thing. She had a website, several online stores, an active LiveJournal and a ProBoards forum right from the turn of the millennium.
In 2004, she attached an official forum to her website; the earliest archive shows 74 registered users. By the time Opheliac came out in 2006, that number had grown tenfold. And it was, by most accounts, a pretty dope place to be! (I should specify that this write-up focuses on the anglophone side of the fandom: there were also thriving fan-run communities in at least German, French, and Spanish. Because EA doesn't speak any of those languages, the lucky bastards were mostly left alone.)
Forum users enjoyed interacting with some of EA's closest IRL friends and associates – and with the mistress of the house herself (user flair: PsychoFiddler), when she occasionally responded to comments under her own posts. But that wasn't even the main appeal for many. For a long time, on top of all EA-related topics, the official forum had very active “Off-Topic” subforums, with lively and friendly conversation on a variety of subjects. (There was even a “Filthy Libertines (18+)” sub for a while, which was closed due to preemptive concerns about minors.) Swear words (not slurs) were allowed and encouraged, and moderation was overall pretty loose beyond basic enforcement of civility. There was a lot of mutual support, creativity, and solid banter going around.

It wasn't just about Emilie on the forums. People could chat about almost anything with near free reign, making connections and lifelong friends. ... This community mattered SO MUCH to people. They felt included, accepted, and understood within the walls of the Asylum. People invested their time and creative energy into keeping the forums a vibrant, active community, and made sure that carried over into the real world. ... And it did, indeed, carry over into the real world. There were numerous meet-ups – a few organized by EA, many more spontaneous. People who didn't know any other EA fans in real life, or were just excited to add new Plague Rats to their friend group, would regularly connect with other forum users from their area to meet up and hang out before EA shows. “Who else is dressing up??”
In 2008, for instance, EA held an afternoon meet-up at Lincoln Park in Chicago. 📺 The event was free to attend; it featured live acoustic music and a reading from EA's upcoming book, the intriguingly-titled Asylum for Wayward Victorian Girls.
On the appointed day, EA rolled up in a fabulously tousled red wig, bedazzled white corset and steampunk-altered wedding dress. She had brought friends alongs. Sporting blue hair and a pink bustle and corset was her Chicago bestie, the main forum admin. Rocking a guitar and a top hat was EA's sound engineer, the soft-spoken wizard behind the Victoriandustrial sound, who was also a forum mod. The photographer from the original Opheliac cover art was there as well; he was formally introduced by EA and got his own round of applause.

People who would never normally be involved in an artist's fanbase were in EA's world. And not only were they known – they were respected and incredibly active with the fanbase. These people who managed an online message board were willing to engage in real-world meet-ups (with no security??) because of how tight-knit the community they had built was. People turned out to this event. People traveled to go to this event. It was a short reading of a book that hadn't been released yet, and wouldn't be for some time. Why? Because not only was it a chance to meet Emilie and listen to parts of the new book, but it was also a chance to hang out with their friends from the Asylum. ... “SERIOUSLY, GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY HOUSE.”

It all started with The End.
The End Records, that is! Quick refresher: in 2009, after three years or so with Trisol, EA split from the label over allegations that the owner was embezzling money from ticket sales. A few months later, she signed with The End Records. Understandably, EA still wanted to sell the album that had made her famous, and to which she had smartly retained the rights – which meant a brand new, “Deluxe” release of Opheliac. (Remember, from part 3? The one you could pre-order as a bundle with the book? Some projects are just cursed, I guess.)
At that point, Opheliac had been released three times already, as recently as the year before, with only slight variations in format and tracklist. (Yes, that is a theme in this story.) The End Records version would feature new cover art and a handful of new tracks, but overall, it was... you know... the same album.

One fateful day of August 2009, a user started a thread entitled “Opheliac US edition deluxe re-release??” in the “EA News” subforum. In the thread, some people were kind of balking at the re-do, pondering whether to buy the “new” Opheliac or sit this one out. Some expressed that after three years, they were jonesing for a new album. Others shared what B-sides or dream covers they would have liked to see included on the bonus disc. Just... fans being fans, in a fan discussion space.
And then EA jumped out from behind the curtains.

Fan: Okay. Before I start, I just want you to know that I think it's very good that EA is getting more popularity, and that she can release lots of albums, but - are 5 editions of the same album really needed? You may say now “ah, it's not the same, it has 2 bonus tracks” or whatever, but I mean: it's not new material. Now don't get me wrong. I'm happy for it, maybe I'll even buy it, but I'm just wondering if she shouldn't keep herself busy with other (maybe more important) stuff? * hides * EA: Nobody's forcing you to buy it. Thanks.

Record scratch.

Fan 1: is this Opheliac release version number 4? lol If she's recording NEW tracks, then surely they deserve to be sold by themselves, otherwise people are going to have to buy an album that they may have already bought twice (like me!). But... alas, I am a fool and adore everything this woman does... im buying it lol Fan 2: exactly – if it was just reissuing the last version of Opheliac to tap into new markets that would be fine (...) but if they start adding extra bits of material to albums people already have then the true muffins are going to feel obliged to buy new copies (...) EA: How exactly are you obliged to buy anything? Nobody is forcing you to spend a fucking penny, my dears. I suppose it would make more sense to you to simply not have my records available any more as the old label I just escaped from will no longer be distributing them? Forgive me for adding extra tracks. No obligation necessary.

...Okay, so I'm pretty sure that we can see both sides of the argument here. Fans are annoyed at the idea of spending money on barely-anything-new, because they love EA and buy every single CD she releases. EA is exasperated by fans acting like she's twisting their arm and somehow resenting the inclusion of new material, when she was just ensuring that her album would remain available for purchase and trying to keep things interesting.
But maybe we can also agree that those replies should have been screamed into a pillow rather than typed out on a keyboard.
EA was getting increasingly (and, I'll just say it: disproportionately) sarcastic and defensive in her replies. Enter poor FantineDormouse.
FantineDormouse meant well, I think. Maybe she thought, she's spiraling. Maybe she thought, friends don't let friends go down that road. Granted, FantineDormouse probably should have known better than to phrase it the way she did. Or to assume that EA perceived her as a friend.
Either way, at some point, FantineDormouse jumped in and posted the comment that finally made EA lose it. THE comment which, overnight, ended the honeymoon period of the Asylum, triggering a doomsday domino effect from which the fandom would never truly recover. Are you comfortably seated?

FantineDormouse: Uhm, Emilie, love, I don't mean to sound rude or anything... but maybe you should have a cup of tea and relax a little.

EA: Excuse me? You can throw this onslaught of absolute cruel bullshit at me and those I work with in my own space that I own, and I can't say anything back? How fucking patronizing. Relax? Are you fucking kidding me? Who the fuck do you think you're talking to? FD: I'm not trying to piss you off even more, Emilie. And trust me, I have to deal with it myself, and as much as I would really love to punch the cunts I have to deal with in the face, I don't. You're pissed off, I get it. You're bipolar, which makes it 10x worse, I get that. I'm just not the person to stand around and do nothing when a fight where I'm pretty sure there will be a lot of regret is going on.

Famous last words. Literally! Immediately after EA delivered her irate closing statement – which includes one of my all-time favorite EA zingers, bolded...

EA: I cannot believe this... You just don't stop, do you? So just because I've shared the personal information with you all that I happen to be bipolar, I can't get pissed off at all of you being perfectly awful in the very space that I pay fuckloads a month to have up (has it ever occurred to you all that I pay dearly for this space you play around in?) Why not just tell me that I must be upset because it's my time of the month? Seriously, get the fuck out of my house. You are unbelievable, and your level of patronization is almost criminal. Don't make me write another book. With muffins like you, who needs enemies? Nothing I say or feel is legitimate, not ever ever ever because I'm bipolar... discredited before I begin... unbelievable...

...FantineDormouse got permabanned.
Jaws dropped. After days of infighting between white knights, detractors, and crossfire negotiators, several mod resignations, and general mayhem surrounding the ban, EA made a post entitled “In Which: I Invite You to Make a Fucking Choice.” 📝 For brevity's sake (cue laugh track), I can't reproduce it in all of its righteous splendor, but it's quite a read. It runs the gamut from fair and articulate points about how mental illness shouldn't be used to discredit someone's legitimate anger... to histrionic commands that “deserters to the cause” should “turn in their weapons” if they can't handle her way of doing things.

To those of you who appear not to understand why said posts, most especially those of the banned party, were offensive to me, I give you the option to either educate yourselves on your own time and in your own space (because please never forget that this is my space that I share with all of you at my own expense, and in which I generally give you all the freedom I would wish for myself), or to resign your posts in the Asylum Army – this is not the place for you, and I humbly suggest that you turn your attention and support towards other artists of a more placid, non-controversial, and less opinionated nature; there are more than enough of them out there, and I’m sure they all have forums of their own.

Some fans did leave. Most stuck around, whiplashed. Soon, the storm quieted down, and business as usual resumed on the forum. But something had been damaged beyond repair. The FantineDormouse fiasco had erected walls and drawn lines in the sand, both around EA and among her fans; its sad specter would haunt every Asylum crisis that spiked up forever after. “Fucking Patronizing Fucking” or “FPF” 🔍 became memetic shorthand in the fandom for overreaction and self-righteousness. 🐀
...And now you understand why, in the following years, some fans were so delicate and diplomatic in voicing their very legitimate complaints about messed-up orders, unsigned books, and puzzling lies... while unofficial platforms like Tumblr flourished with pent-up resentment and snark. 🦠

A NOTE ON HARASSMENT: “MAD GIRL, CAN YOU BELIEVE WHAT THEY'VE DONE TO YOU?”

Now, let's be clear, because it should not be minimized: EA has also been the target of genuine online harassment. Based on the simple fact that she is a woman with a public presence on the internet, I have zero doubt that EA has received (and perhaps continues to receive) more than her share of truly vile, bigoted, creepy and threatening messages – and, knowing what I know about the darker recesses of the Asylum, a terrifying amount of emotional blackmail and obsessive projection from people who hold her to punitively high standards. I'm also inclined to believe that it started way before she ever did anything that warranted any backlash. And that fucking sucks. It's repulsive and inexcusable, and the people who harass her should crawl into a hole and live among the worms.
Notwithstanding. In my decade-plus of following EA drama, the public comments on EA's own platforms (where people knew she was likely to be reading) have been, for the most part... civil and nuanced, and relatively mindful of the human? Even very confrontational comments (some clearly written from a place of anger and desire to shame) rarely resorted to outright name-calling or cruelty. When abusive or bigoted language did crop up, it was often promptly shut down by other fans as gross and uncalled for. In short: I have, with mine own two eyes, in real time, read some of the comment sections that EA described as cesspools of blind rage and odious attacks, and... I just couldn't see it.
If anything, for a long time, a lot of the angry comments directed at EA during any given controversy read more like break-up letters to an ex-best friend: harsh, curt and targeted in a way that cuts deep.... but also kind of screams how much love you still have for this person, against your better judgement.
Not that it wouldn't mess a person up to get hundred of those in a matter of hours, even if they don't individually qualify as “abusive”.
It's worth noting that prior to becoming semi-famous and regretting it, EA was also (by her own account and among other forms of abuse) a victim of intense childhood bullying. It feels like the two situations are closely connected in her mind when her focus seamlessly transitions from one to the other. 📺 I don't think that tremor in her voice is put on.
Based on her writings, I get the feeling that over the years, EA has developed a very black-and-white view of two monolithic groups of people. There's (an idealized vision of) her “real audience”, well-dressed, well-read, kind-hearted, and Asylum-savvy, who she fully trusts to “get it” – and buy it, and love it, unquestioningly, whatever “it” may be at any given time – because that is the true measure of love and loyalty. These are the people she makes art and merch for, the people she writes heart-emoji-filled newsletters to, and desperately longs to see in person again.
And then there's the lynch mob, those who really don't “get it”: the trolls, the faceless creeps, the basement-dwelling mouthbreathers, the ones who stalk her every move obsessively, waiting for any chance to spam her with vicious abuse and slander and obscenities. The latter only exist online (they are manifested into arbitrary existence by the internet itself, not by anything EA said or did), and there is zero overlap between the two sets of people. That seems to be the official narrative.

The "public eye" isn't an [enviable] place to be, and the closer I've come to it, the more horrified I've been. Because, for starters, who is "the public?" Is "the public" my audience? Hell no. My audience is special. They are not the general public. If they were the general public I would be a lot wealthier. The "public eye" means getting stalked, harassed, viscously judged, and put in danger. If I do things in the future that gain notoriety, I will do them in spite of fame, not because of it. I am out for world domination, but not fame. (Interview for The Moaning Times, 2014 📝)

In real life (well, mostly online, but I mean: on this shared plane of existence), things play out slightly differently. The Venn diagram of “true blue fans” and “people who criticize EA" and "people who know way too much about EA” is a circle. The call is 100% coming from inside the Asylum, and I think EA rationally knows that. But here's the thing: no matter how many shows and meet-and-greets you've dressed up for, how many loving and supportive comments you've left, or how many family heirlooms you once pawned to purchase a copy of the not-for-sale 2003 DJ pressing of Enchant... the instant EA feels attacked, everyone is a saboteur and a bully until proven otherwise, and suspected treason is dealt with on the spot. One strike, you're out. Unfortunately for everyone involved, her threshold for bullying seems to be “any remotely thoughtless opinion from any stranger on the internet”.
It makes for outstanding human-interest entertainment... but it also sounds an awful lot like the unhealthy patterns of a person suffering from all sorts of PTSD. 🔍 So, please bear that in mind as you read through this write-up. It's easy to make EA out to be the sole villain, a paranoid and delusional drama queen, based on her extreme reactions to things that often “weren't that bad”. Anything can, in fact, be “that bad” when you're thrown back into the very worst moments of your existence every time your brain decides that the situation is even remotely similar.
PTSD takes over your rational mind and actively distorts your perception of reality. That can be how a person ends up impulse-reacting to “a few people expressing an unfavorable opinion” as if the entire internet had just ganged up on them with knives. Which makes their audience feel unjustly accused, which makes them hostile, which gives the person actual good reason to feel attacked... and so the cycle of hurt continues.

And YES, it is extremely regrettable to have this as a trigger, when you're a public figure and you're bound to receive more negative feedback than the average citizen. “It's what she signed up for”, “it comes with the territory” and all that jazz. I really don't think EA was unaware of that fact when she decided to become a musician, share her personal life, and form an intense parasocial bond with her audience. But maybe she underestimated how hard it would be to process and recover from.
Just because you expect something unpleasant to happen, doesn't mean your psyche will be ready to handle it when it does – or that you'll pick the best and most effective strategy to deal with it.

A MADHOUSE UNDER MARTIAL LAW: MARCHING INTO THE FORUM WARS

There are two sides to every story... except for this one! (“If I Burn”, 2012 🎵)

You may have noted the military imagery in EA's “Make a Fucking Choice” response post – “resign your post in the Asylum Army”! What do psychiatry and the military have in common? They're both institutions of top-down social control. 🔍 EA's mixed metaphor may be a bit clunky, but it did foreshadow the evolution of the Asylum – in terms of aesthetics and power dynamics – in the years that followed the FantineDormouse incident and the release of The Book.
EA's next big release after the Asylum book came in 2012. It was a new album, an outline of the soon-to-be Asylum musical, called Fight Like a Girl (FLAG for short). As the name suggests, the main mood was bellicose. Incidentally, in the interim years, EA's communication style generally became noticeably more combative, incendiary, and (within her own spaces) controlling.📝 You remember those quirky word filters on the forum, that would change “fan” to “muffin” and “bra” to “teacup holder”? They kind of took on a Nineteen-Eighty-Four-burlesque flavor when you realized that one filter automatically changed “Fischkopf” to “Liddell” - and that circumventing the rule to address her totally real last name would get you banned, as would any discussion of her family. (“Wikipedia, random internet sites and heresay are not credible sources.” - Mod reminder of forum rules, 2010.)
Also, you try sustaining a serious, grown-up conversation among concerned fans about how Emilie Autumn should “take ratsponsibility for her mistakes out of ratspect for her muffins”. Thus, the official Asylum forum kept a tight grip on overt criticism of EA's claims and actions.

The Emilie Autumn forum is a dystopian hell. Truth be told, when I decided to leave you could not do anything but gush about Emilie. Otherwise all of her extremist arse kissing fans will be down your throat, ripping you apart in seconds, if you so much as questioned her behaviour. So much for freedom of opinion, let alone the idea of creating a harmonious community for ‘outcasts’. Hahaha. (2014 🐀)

The word filter thing really wasn't a big deal – I'm just pointing it out as one goofy expression of EA's need to control the narrative and rhetoric, which became especially noticeable in those post-book, pre-FLAG years. By that point, EA's fuse had been shortened by near on half a decade of non-stop touring / recording / writing / promoting / adjusting to the pressure and demands of an ever-growing fanbase, while also dealing with a horrorshow of personal turmoil and health issues behind the scenes. In other words: she was done taking any shit, in any form, or humoring anyone's ridiculous feedback regarding anything.
To be fair, it was never her forte to begin with. Will it come as a shock if I tell you that EA doesn't have the greatest track record for successful collaborative work? Let's do a quick-cut montage!
EA's very first corporate sponsor was her mother's “Enchant Clothing & Costume” online store 🔍; she went on to claim that her mother was dead. She sessioned for Billy Corgan, that went super well. 🎵 She liked Courtney Love for a minute, but that didn't work out because she felt that Courtney only valued her for her pee. 📝 (It probably didn't help that in early 2006, while EA was recording her post-break-up-tell-all album about Corgan, C-Love was recording her post-rehab-redemption album with Corgan. 🔍 Either way, EA didn't seem to like Courtney anymore after that. Courtney likes her, though! 📝) The one artist EA has ever approached for a duet (and by approached, I mean she recorded a demo and threw the CD on stage when he played Chicago in 2004) was, of all people, Morrissey. That never came to pass, thank mercy 🔍 – this fandom has suffered enough. In 2005, EA recorded some haunting vocals and violins for a potential collab with the frontman of Attrition. When, three years later, they were used on one track 🎵 of Attrition's All Mine Enemies Whisper, she alleged 📝 that the recordings had been obtained from her under the false pretense of a different project, then hideously altered to sound “out of tune”, and used without her permission. She enlisted her fans to boycott the album and the band, and threatened legal action. Meanwhile, on LiveJournal and Attrition's message boards, band associates were appalled: according to them, EA had been aware of the project's nature from the start... and had been completely unreachable, even through her label, during the months of its development. (Besides, Attrition is a semi-obscure English darkwave band from the 80s, whose micro-distributed albums don't even have their own Wikipedia pages... so I wonder what EA was hoping to get out of that theoretical lawsuit. These people own nothing but vintage gain pedals!) The song “Cold Hard Cash” 🎤 by Angelspit (who contributed a remix to one of her EPs in 2008) may or may not be an EA diss track. 🐀 Back when indie jewelry brand RockLove (which now has licensing deals with Disney, Marvel, and DC) was still someone's bedroom project, their first drop was an EA-inspired collection 🔍, which appears in many early Opheliac photoshoots. The partnership was terminated on bad terms, for unclear reasons; the RockLove owner shared in a statement that EA had “drunk the cool-aid” of Trisol Guy's shady business practices, and that the two of them had been spamming her with “crazed angry message[s]” for days.
Why am I talking about this? Because it was precisely one such ill-fated business partnership that triggered the Great Asylum Secession.
One fine day of spring 2010, the owner of vegan make-up brand Aromaleigh popped onto the Asylum forum to announce that they were cutting ties with EA, with damning receipts of copy-pasted emails (lost to time). Basically, the brand had been sponsoring her for half a decade, and while Aromaleigh had been actively promoting her music and tours, EA hadn't exactly been returning the favor. (Indeed, the extent of EA's sponcon seemed to have been a banner link to their website on her front page, and a single “random drunken endorsement” LiveJournal post that kind of reads like satire📝, from 2005.)
EA responded by banning the owner's account, deleting the thread, and posting this flippant statement a few days later:

Dearest Plague Rats, To be honest, I have no idea of what the hell happened with Aromaleigh, and I don't care to find out – the whole drama is a complete mystery to me, as I've been away for months touring and have not been in contact with anyone. All I know is that I've been promoting the company for ages and have not asked them for anything in years. (...) Please focus on more interesting things. I am. (“Save the Drama...” forum post, March 2010)

Posts questioning her good faith in the conflict were deleted from the forum. Shortly thereafter, citing how prolific and labor-intensive the Asylum forum had grown, EA shut down all non-EA related subforums – which, among many other topics, included a pretty active thread about Aromaleigh products.
So one Plague Rat decided to create a separate, members-only forum 📝, where users could recreate some of the now-defunct off-topic threads... and also freely voice their critical opinions of EA's behavior without fear of backlash from mods or rabid stans. Thus, “The Reform” was born. (Reform [n]: amendment of what is defective, vicious, corrupt, or depraved.)
For a few weeks, the two-state solution seemed to work fine. And then word spread among forum mods and other diehard fans that there was this horrid other forum, where obsessive haters gathered to spew disgusting lies and vitriol about EA... and soon enough, it was bedlam in the Asylum.
Any explicit mention of the Reform was forbidden on the Asylum forum. Suspicion of participation in the Reform would get you banned. The party line was that The Reform was the enemy 🐀 – even though a number of people were active on both forums, because they liked freedom of expression almost as much as they liked EA. Double agents would lurk on the forum and report back with snark material; sycophants would infiltrate the Reform to identify traitors – much to the amusement of the “haters”, who mocked them and their ilk for “licking EA's pink sparkly boots”. There was no containing the seething, or the sass, among Asylum ranks.
Pretty soon, the insubordination spread to Tumblr. There was the “Ask the Reform” Q&A blog, where questioning fans could interact with “Rebel Rats”, get more details on past drama, and make up their own minds about the people EA called bullies.
And then, there were the “confession blogs”, which published anonymous submissions about EA, positive, negative or neutral, with little censorship. Finally, you didn't even have to pick a throw-away username on a private forum to voice your hottest / strangest / most controversial EA takes. Fans could vent, rant, lament, wonder, shitpost to their heart's content, anonymously. Obviously, given the context of frustration and censorship in the fandom, a lot of the first waves of confessions were EXTREMELY negative.
EA's acolyte Veronica managed to get the first one shut down. If memory serves, she misunderstood the confession blog format, and may have believed that all the posts on “Emilie Autumn Confessions” came from one or a small group of individuals. She was genuinely devastated, and wrote the blog admin to let them know that they were a terrible person who said terrible things. The admin was mortified, apologized profusely and deleted the blog of their own initiative. (Which goes to show that the concept did not come from cruel and malicious anti-fans, as detractors often claimed.)
But a new blog sprung up almost immediately, with a different mod team, and did not surrender. And much like in EA's own book, once the Plague Rats found out that they possessed the gift of speech... well, they really took to it.
Established in 2011 and passed on through generation after generation of mod teams to the present day, Wayward Victorian Confessions would turn out to be the longest-lived institution in the EA fandom. For over a decade now, through all the bleakest nights and dankest debacles of the Asylum, and despite its initial reputation as a troll den, WVC has acted as a kind of neutral ground and vox populi for the active fanbase and anti-fanbase. (The last nominally-active EA fansite to date, She Fights Like a Girl, is actually an offshoot of WVC: one of the old admins created it as a database to answer “frequently asked questions” about EA.)
Wayward Victorian Confessions has now outlived every other EA platform, official and unofficial. Were it not for the continued existence of the “troll den”, what little fan community survives in 2024 would be non-existent, plain and simple. To quote from late 20th century Canadian philosophy: isn't it ironic?

I feel like [WVC] is the only place I feel any of that old Asylum community kind of feeling I felt before EA got so focused on the book. It sucks that it’s so full of unhappiness, and I wish she hadn’t poisoned the sanctuary she claimed to have built. It’s just kind of fallen apart, like a crumbling building. (🐀 2016)

Now, it sounds like the author has a source from Comcast - a lot of the information seems pretty loaded - but the article seems to be in line with other reporting on the TV packages. There are some new details, though:

Although details are still being massaged with nothing finalized, those sources believe there is little WBD CEO David Zaslav can do to overtake NBC unless he perhaps coughs up as much as $2.8B or more to overpay for the package. Or, according to the sources, unless he takes the league to court.
Reports surfaced last month that incumbent WBD exited its exclusive negotiating window with the league believing it could match any bid from NBC or the like, dollar for dollar. However, sources reiterated Wednesday that the NBA believes a dollar-for-dollar match is not enough, that NBC is an over-the-air network with multiple broadcast windows and an RSN infrastructure that WBD cannot replicate. ... That gray area of what a “match’’ is could turn into a lawsuit against the league, or at least have lawyers weighing in, according to sources. In the meantime, those sources said Silver is contemplating how to cut Turner loose and simply wants to do so in a gentle way.

As of now, NBC’s package is expected to include Sunday Night games following the NFL season, while perhaps taking over ESPN’s Friday night slate and TNT’s second-round playoff and conference final package. Amazon would likely have one weekday night (Tuesday or Thursday) and Saturday nights, as well as the Play-in tournament, the In-Season Tournament, first-round playoff games and likely some international rights.

NBC would also produce a "Basketball Night in America" pregame show similar to its "Football Night in America" show. This reporting kinda contradicts previous reporting that Amazon/third TV partner would split a conference finals every year. Previous reporting also said Amazon would get second-round games (makes me think a Comcast source is feeding the author this information).
This piece also indicates that ESPN paid extra to keep the Finals exclusive:

“ESPN did not want to alternate the finals, which I think Adam wanted to do,’’ a source said. “Adam wanted to make a package for NBC and alternate the finals with ESPN. Ok so I wanted to create a thread to keep track of “receipts” and their status since there’s so much going on. Please lmk if there’s anything I’m wrong about / missing!

Accusations against Drake and their status:

Things we know: 1. Baka not nice (long time drake friend and old bodyguard) has been charged with sex trafficking / assault and is a convicted woman beater. He was found guilty of beating an escort, but intimidated the victim to flee Toronto and not testify to get the sex trafficking case dropped. He also has a very lengthy criminal history besides this. 2. Drake got pissed on his leg and he ain’t do shit about it. 3. Drake has sent some very weird texts to Millie Bobby Brown and knowingly felt up + kisses a 17 year old. 4. Drake lied about not being a deadbeat at least once. 5. Drake has a history of “colonizing” sounds before the beef and has received a lot of shit for stealing music and sounds from up and coming artists (like The Weeknd, X, Rappin 4k, etc). 6. He fucked Lil Wayne’s girl while he was in prison. 7. Nearly everybody in the industry seems to think he’s a POS. Notably, Drake notes YG as one of his gang officiated homies in FM only for Kendrick to use YG’s producer in his most successful diss track yet the next day. 8. His ab surgery and their resulting scars are pretty well known / public 9. Pro-Drake bots running rampant on Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube. Whether these belong to Drake is another thing, which I address later on in the Kendrick section. 10. Drake’s been accused of Sexual Assault in the past. However, it’s important to note it was settled and could’ve also just have been a money grab taking advantage of Drake wanting to avoid it becoming a prolonged thing. 11. Drake sent a cease and desist for “Like That” and tried to prevent it from playing on radios. (Added by gloomy-degree6027) 12. Drake also got punched by Diddy and didn’t do shit about it. (Added by Grand-Gain-763) 13. Drake’s deal is a $400 million dollar 360 deal, meaning that UMG owns basically everything Drake produces. This includes 100% of all songs, merch, publishing rights, and visual media projects (music videos, interviews, etc). This is also the reason he’s been publishing at a ridiculous rate, bc as part of this deal he also has to publish 2 albums a year. So, he’s pretty much just a salaried employee. Now, this still looks like a pretty phenomenal deal as he’s still getting close to half a billion guaranteed and all of his projects expensed. However, it does mean that while Kendrick has to (allegedly) give 50% of publishing money, Drake has to give 100% of EVERYTHING (I assume that’s what he meant by “double” back at you since Drake owes twice the %). Some very popular opinions that are mostly based in facts (but still deserve their own section bc they’re opinions at the end of the day): 1. His latest diss was very badly received and showed a lot of about his character that Kendrick targets throughout the beef. To many, including a university professor who weighed in on the subject, he comes off as a gaslighter that got caught in the act. 2. Drake has a reputation of being creepy with many instances of him presumably grooming underaged celebrities very publicly. *
*Important note: none of the presumed groomed girls have come out and said anything against it. Personally, I’m a believer that you can still be a victim without publicly admitting you’re a victim. This is something that has held true many times in the lives of public and non-public figures alike. That being said, I believe it’s important to note in the mission of presenting the most unbiased version of the known truths.
Things we probably know:
This next section is tricky since it regards the leak.
We know that K Dot had a picture of Drake’s dad’s luggage and dropped a diss speaking on the same topics as Drake’s diss less than 15 minutes after drake dropped.
This confirms there’s a leak in Drake’s camp. Now, we just need to look into its trustworthiness to see what we can believe from it.
Drake so far has mentioned he planted the leak rather briefly in his response. However, it’s quite odd that he’s had various more opportune moments to show proof of this, like after the drop of MTG to remove all momentum K Dot had, yet he hasn’t shown any at all. It’s also curious that someone that’s famously played the roll of a troll throughout the beef (even risking a lawsuit for it) hasn’t taken the opportunity to troll on Kendrick and effectively end the beef swiftly, mitigate any attritional damage, and leave with an automatic W.
Another interesting thing to note is that, in the song where he claims “we fed you the information”, he later says that “the person that fed you information was a clown”. It’s an example of one of many instances of cognitive dissonance in his song “The Heart Pt. 6” and feeds in to his reputation as a lying manipulator.
So, I believe that because the proof currently lies entirely with Kendrick, we can say we probably know:

1. Drake has a leak but lied about it to save face (proving the character stuff K Dot has mentioned throughout the beef).
2. There’s pictures of his Ozempic pills, meaning he lied about his weight loss.
3. There’s pictures of sleeping pills, insinuating that he either a: is so drug addicted that he needs the help of sleeping pills to sleep ala MJ, or b: he uses these pills to drug women (the sleeping pills are also often popularly used to facilitate SA)
4. He has a daughter. Remember, all Pusha T had was also a leak from Drake’s camp.
5. This is the second time significant shit has been leaked from his camp during a beef.

The conspiracy shit that’s completely unconfirmed and purely speculative: 1. Drake is a sex trafficker, probably of underage women. 2. Drake’s house is about to be raided bc of the sex trafficking. 3. Drake partially owns a Russian Bot company. 4. UMG thinks Drake is losing and they, along with Drake’s other partners like Nike, are losing a lot of money bc it. They’ve asked Kendrick to publicly clarify that he’s not a pedophile and stop dropping.

Accusations against K Dot and their status:

What we know is true: 1. Kendrick Lamar bought a property in NYC recently. This may point to K Dot’s previously mentioned (from MMTBS) marital problems continuing, however Whitney has posted being in the NYC property w the kids various times. (Caveat added by Jungkookenlover69420)

1. TDE briefly threatened to remove their music from streaming platforms when the platforms were poised to remove R Kelly’s music. However, this was not directly Kendrick’s decision, and had less to do with R Kelly and more with how streaming platforms targeted controversial black artists more than controversial white artists. Regardless, it was quickly taken back after much backlash. (Added by elringo_ / vanillagorilla23)

What is probably true: 1. Some of Kendrick Lamar’s YouTube video views from MTG are likely bots. Whether these bots are Kendrick’s is another thing. Drake could’ve easily spun them up to discredit Kendrick’s numbers. However, in that same vein, Kendrick could also be spinning them up to drive home the manipulator image. Based on public personality and rumored business dealings, the former seems the most likely, but it’s important not to completely discredit the latter or even completely assume there’s funny business at all.
The unconfirmed speculation: 1. Kendrick beat his wife. This is an old 2014 rumor that’s been repeatedly debunked and denied by Kendrick. He could allude to it in MMTBS but it could also easily be alluding to his mom being beat. 2. One of Kendrick’s kids is Dave Free’s. This one is curious bc Dave Free is Kendrick’s cofounder at Pg Lang and long time friend. Only proof there seems to be on this one is a random comment by Dave Free showing love to Whitney (Kendrick’s wife) that Twitter dug up post MTG. Disappointed this is all Drake brought as “receipts” for an affair he’s mentioned in two different songs. 3. Whitney cheated on Kendrick with their body guard. There’s 0 proof of this and is purely speculative. 4. Kendrick gave up 50% of his earnings to his label. 5. Kendrick hasn’t spoke to Whitney in 6 months.

Current thoughts:

The evidence seems to heavily be on Kendrick’s side. However, that’s bc most of it was already public and all K had to do was direct the public’s attention to it.
In that sense, it was quite puzzling to me as to why Drake wanted to take the angle he did. Especially since Drake’s a very public person with many enemies and a negative moral reputation, and Kendrick is a very private person with a very clean image (despite him literally releasing an entire album dedicated to how we shouldn’t morally look up to him. It’s like a Lisan Al Gaib situation: “only Mr Moral would admit to his moral wrong doings!”)

Let me be clear - I do not like Drake. I've thought the guy was a creep ever since the Millie Bobby Brown video and I despise him - but I'll still try to remain as objective as possible here, you know my bias now though.

THE 17 YEAR OLD AT A SHOW
Drake is performing at a show in Ogden, Denver where he calls a girl up on stage. I really encourage you to watch this yourself, but since I know the majority of you won't watch it, I've described it for you below.
Video starts with her on stage, he asks her name, where she is from, asks the crowd to welcome her to the stage and tells her she looks great. He then asks her to give him two seconds because "I gotta be ready for you".
He wipes off his sweat with a towel and proceeds to take her hand, put it on his shoulder, his hand on her hip/back and they slow dance for a few seconds. He spins her around and stop her with her back facing him. This is when it starts to get.. really weird.
Drake says "I told you I like your hair, right, what is it, like herbal essence or something?" while he's caressing her shoulder and smelling her hair. He says something I can't hear properly, puts the mic down and exposes her upper back and neck by pulling her shirt collar down. The crowd goes wild. He then starts kissing her shoulder and neck, putting her arms around her and fondle her breast.
A few seconds later he picks up the mic again and says "you can't have me carried away again before I get in trouble - how old are you?" She responds "17". The crowd has a mixed reaction - Drake says something that is hard to make out, because of the crowd but when it's clear he says "I can't go to jail yet, man - 17? Why do you look like that? You thick - look at all this!"
It's hard to make out exactly what he says afterwards because of the poor quality (2011 zoomed video at a concert, it's bad..), but he says something about it bringing them (the 17 year old and Drake) to a close and follows it up with "I got one question for you (...) I just want to know if (something about women in Colorado), I should just take one opportunity to take one home?"
The girl nods "As a Colorado woman you'd enjoy that?" "Well, listen 17, I had fun - I don't know if I should feel guilty or not, but I had fun. I liked the way your breasts felt against my chest. I just want to thank you." He then puts the mic down again, grabs her hand and kisses it. You might think that was a little over the top, but he then immediately follows it up by putting his hand on her chin and kissing both of her cheeks, her forehead and then on her fucking lips.
I think he asks her to walk off stage, it's hard to make out, but then he says "It's okay. I'm only 23, I can do shit like that. It's all good, you know what I'm saying" and the video ends.
Addition: I know this girl has said she was not offended, violated, whatever you want to call it, but that's not the point. And I do not mean to sound like a complete dick, but it's not about her - it's about Drake and proving his pattern of behavior over many instances. If you stopped here because she denied it, you completely missed the point.

MILLIE BOBBY BROWN
Now this video was what really made me do a double take on Drake. Now, there's one very important fact to establish here and that is that Millie Bobby Brown at the time of this interview (18. September 2018) is 14 (Born 19. February 2004). I'll quickly transcribe the interview here:
Interviewer:

What about your relationship with Drake, tell me about your friendship, how did this all come about?

Millie Bobby Brown:

I love him. I met him in Australia and he's honestly so fantastic and a great friend and a great role model. You know we text - we just texted each other the other day and he was like "I miss you so much" and I was like "I miss you more". He's coming to Atlanta, so I'm definitely gonna go and see him and I'm so excited.

Interviewer 2:

You and Drake? That's awesome. That's awesome..

Interviewer:

What advice does he give you? What does he say?

MMB:

About boys he helps me, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah he's great. He's wonderful, I love him.

Interviewer:

What's his advice with boys?

MMB:

Ehm, you know.. That stays in the text messages.

I'm sure it's obvious what is wrong here and I don't need to spell it out for any of you, but I do have one thing to add. If Drake is giving advice about boys and telling her "I miss you so much" they must have talked for a while. It's not something you say after knowing a person for a week. We are talking months at least. There's 7 months between her birthday and the interview - did Drake already start talking to her when she was 13? It would make sense that Drake was in Australia during their summer (Dec-Feb) for festivals/concerts/vacation.
Millie has only commented on this once which was a few days later in a story on Instagram
I don't want or mean to infantilize her, but she was 14. She would have no chance of knowing if Drake actually was grooming her. There's not a chance that she could understand the dynamic at play and why it's wrong at that age.
Drake also defended their friendship on the song Another Late Night when he raps:

BILLIE EILISH
The year after the Millie Bobby Brown controversy Drake gets caught texting a minor again and this time it's Billie Eilish. She does a yearly interview with Vanity Fair, and in the 2019 version she's asked who's her most famous contact in her phone. That's when she reveals she's been texting with Drake and that he's so very nice to her. Billie is at the time of the interview (released 25. November 2019) 17 (born 18. December 2001).
Billie did defend Drake and their texting in an interview with Vogue ~3 months later:

“The internet is such a stupid-ass mess right now,” says Eilish, who quit Twitter in 2018. “Everybody’s so sensitive. A grown man can’t be a fan of an artist? There are so many people that the internet should be more worried about. Like, you’re really going to say that Drake is creepy because he’s a fan of mine, and then you’re going to go vote for Trump? What the fuck is that shit?”

On the song Another Late Night where Drake mentions Millie Bobby Brown, Lil Yachty is featured (one of Drake's gho.. co-writers) and he raps the line:

I let her go, she fine as hell but baby wasn't stylish (Yeah)
She had big tits like Billie Eilish but she couldn't sing (Drip)

Now - I know this is not Drake, I just thought it was a 'funny' coincidence that these two women are connected through their shared experiences with Drake and this song. On another note some might say that Drake should have asked Yachty to omit this line if he really was a friend of Billie Eilish since she has been quite vocal about sexualization of herself and women in general.

BELLA HARRIS
This one is pretty fucking bad in my opinion. Bella Harris is the daughter of Jimmy Jam who's a record producer, songwriter etc. and has been very successful. Through him she's been in and around the entertainment/music business her whole life and met Drake that way.
There's an archive of photos posted here that contains the old IG posts she had with Drake. The first one was on May 5th, 2016 - Bella Harris is born 20. April, 2000. She had just turned 16 at the time.
Objectively I think they are defendable since they are all music related - Rihanna concert, Summer Sixteen Tour (ironic name..) and the American Music Awards, but then two years later they reportedly start dating and that makes it really difficult to believe, especially with the last archived photo of them in 2018. Also the same photo that is referenced in this article talking about Drake renting an entire restaurant for an intimate dinner between them.
Note that E! have confirmed it and are not backing down on their claim despite Harris denying it on Instagram.
Her father liked this post on Instagram about the whole situation. It's not particular to the restaurant or previous potential dating it's more so a general declaration of support for Drake, but that includes the PDF-file allegations.
Him supporting Drake made me search for more information, because I wanted to find whether or not he had spoken about it at the time. That led me to this article where her mother, Lisa, is being asked a few questions regarding Bella.

I was surprised Jimmy Jam hasn't introduced Bella to Drake, Rihanna or anybody else in the music world she is interested in meeting.
"No," said Lisa. "She loves Rihanna, she loves Beyoncé. [Bella has met Bey; her brother Max has met Ri-Ri.] She hasn't met Drake. Too old."

Ever since the Kanye (also fuck Kanye for the record) vs. Drake beef we (or I at least) became aware of the fact that Drake has had a long relationship with the Kardashians/Jenners and known them for many, many years. In fact Drake performed at Kylie's sweet 16 back in 2013. You know what that Sweet 16 was specifically remembered for as well? Drake kissing Kylie on the cheek in front of everyone, including her then boyfriend Jaden Smith.
That's not out of the ordinary and would be 'normal', if it wasn't for the clear pattern that is going on here, because guess what - 6 years later Drake and Kylie reportedly start dating, well.. dating/fucking/whatever you wanna call it. Admittedly this article is easily dismissed as paparazzi journalism and clickbait, but what if I told you that Drake has rapped this:

Yeah, I’m a hater to society/Real shit, Kylie Jenner that’s a side piece/Yeah, I got 20 muthafuckas in’ Kylies.

You probably wouldn't have heard it, since it was on an unreleased track played on an Instagram Live back in 2020, but it does make it seem pretty likely that he did actually hook up with her, especially considering the response Drake posted

“A song that mark ran last night on night owl sound live set shouldn’t have been played,” he wrote, “It’s a song that leaked 3 years ago and got scrapped shortly after. He was just going too deep in the drake/future catalogue. Last thing I’d want to do is wake up having any friends of mine feeling disrespected so I just had to say that to start off the day.”

In 2016 there were reports that Hailey and Drake were dating. Apparently they hooked up at a party that Drake hosted, where another attendee is also mentioned that seems oddly relevant:

Drake and Hailey weren't the only ones getting close, with Kylie Jenner and rumoured new boyfriend PartyNextDoor were seen "making out" at the party.
"It was almost like she was trying to make a statement," an insider added.

Now again - there's nothing illegal in a 11 year age difference and dating a 19-year old as 30. It's weird, yes. But again we come back to the pattern. Why do Drake know Hailey? Through their similar friends and friend group (Kardashians/Jenners). How long has Drake known Hailey? Well, when Hailey was 19, she said they had known each other for a long time.
We can actually get even closer with certainty since we know that Hailey attended Kylie's Sweet 16 in August, 2013. Hailey is born 22. November 1996, so she was also 16 at the time. So it's another girl that Drake has known since she was a minor and started dating when he got the opportunity. This is not normal.
Another pattern that Drake also seem to follow is that likes to hook up with his friends girl. We know for a fact that he hooked up with Lil Wayne's girlfriend while he was in prison. He not only rap about it, but also admit it in an interview. It's not really hard to believe that he did the same with Bieber.

Cydney Christine is a beatmaker and model - she produced the Drake song Money In The Grave and in a Complex interview/roundtable she talks about it and Drake.

Really the only artist I reached out to is Drake. I'd never met him, never spoke to him, I don't know why, but he has been following me for the past like 6 years. I don't know why..

This interview was uploaded 17. December 2019, Cydney Christine's is born 21. July, 1997, meaning she was 22 at the time of the interview and 15-16 when Drake started following her. This is somewhat innocent but strange since Drake is 27 at the time. That's not what is really weird though.
In March 2023, Lil CC is on the No Jumper podcast and here she speaks about Drake and having her debut beat being a Drake single.
Lil CC: I played basketball, right, so he really was a fan or not a fan, sorry, supported one of my teammates at the time um..
Adam 22: And this is when you are in high school?
Lil CC: Yeah, in high school. So he was a fan of women's basketball - high school basketball - I was her teammate so he followed me because of her, and I was like "oh shit, bitch, you got Drake to follow me, like what the hell? Like that's so crazy". So he followed me and I lost it - I have to meet Drake, I love Drake, I've always loved Drake, still love Drake.
There's more to the conversation, but the relevant part is here is that it's just very, very strange for Drake to be a women's high school basketball fan. They are 16 at the time. He's a supporter of a 16 year old female high school basketball player as a 27 year old grown adult man. He has not hooked up with her, dated or anything of the sorts that we know of or that she has told - for the record.

It's not like I have whole section for this, but his obsession with Aaliyah is just another part of the pattern. I don't have a lot to contribute here, but if you don't know Aaliyah's story I'd recommend reading her Wikipedia and specifically the section about her personal life. If you think that 'obsession' is too strong a word for how much Drake admires her, I think you should take a look at this Complex article from 2018 and reconsider.

(DIS)HONORABLE MENTION
I know people say Jorja Smith, and I do agree that dating a 19-year old as a 30-year old man is weird and rather pathetic, but every other girl mentioned is related to minors. Their relationship if you can call it that was for sure toxic, and it seems like Drake was a piece of shit abusing the power dynamic between them. This is taken from the Drizzy subreddit, but I can't provide the source since that gets the post blacklisted as it's temporarily banned because of brigading.

In “Summer Games” Drake also says ”I kept it decent, even the secrets, kept it between you and I”. What secrets exactly? Well in Jaded, Drake says this woman “told him all her insecurities”.
It’s also interesting that the song “Summer Games” is about a woman who broke up with Drake right at the beginning of the summer. Drake and Jorja were dating in April of 2017 which is right before the summer starts and only lasted a couple weeks.

But that's all there is to it. I can't dig up anything else, so unless someone have something credible with sources, I don't think there's good enough reason to add her to the list further up.
FINAL NOTE
I know there's very real questions about the reliability of CDAN and that he was exposed, but in the very same article The Daily Beast refers back to one of their old articles on the subject which definitely confirms that he had/have industry ties and do know a lot. Another reddit user dove further in and made some compelling arguments, but remember to take it with a (big) grain of salt.

One of the biggest questions surrounding a potential second Trump presidency is how exactly it would differ from the first one.
Now, normally presidents don’t have to address this question in quite the same way when they’re running for a second term—they can just promise more of the same—but for Trump, he’s obviously been out of office for a few years, he’s one of a handful of presidents in American history seeking a nonconsecutive term, and quite a bit has changed since 2020. And, as even Trump’s most devoted supporters would admit, he wasn’t able to achieve all of his promises in his first four years in office, so it stands to reason that accomplishing those goals the second time around might require something of a new approach in certain areas, and last Tuesday, we got one of the clearest signs yet that Donald Trump will indeed be taking a new approach concerning one of the biggest problems that this country faces, and one which directly impacts more than 200 million Americans at every stage of their life - from schooling to the workplace to government assistance, healthcare. I’m talking about anti-whiteism. Now, this is a word that’s more or less verboten even in conservative circles, unlike, say, anti-Semitism, but in an interview with Time magazine last week, Trump confirmed that combating anti-white racism, by name, will be one of the key goals of his administration if he wins re-election.
Trump was responding to a question about polls showing that most of his supporters believe, correctly, that anti-white racism is a much bigger problem in this country than anti-black racism, and to that, Trump said:

“Oh, I think that there is a lot to be said about that. If you look at the Biden administration, they’re sort of against anybody depending on certain views. They’re against Catholics. They’re against a lot of different people. They actually don’t even know what they’re against, but they’re against a lot. But no, I think there is a definite anti-white feeling in this country and that can’t be allowed either. .. If you look right now, there’s absolutely a bias against white and that’s a problem.”

This really shouldn’t have been a significant moment in the presidential race. It should’ve had all the significance of a candidate affirming that the sky is blue. And Trump doesn’t even say in that quote that anti-white racism is more prevalent than any other type of racism—though it is—he doesn’t even say that. Instead, he just says that there is some amount of anti-white sentiment in the country and that is also bad. It’s bad to hate everybody for their skin color, including white people; that’s Trump’s position. Perfect rational, reasonable position, should be the position that everybody has. And there shouldn’t be anything even notable about it, but it WAS a surprising moment, even for Trump supporters, because in his first term, Trump rarely if ever mentioned the concept of anti-whiteism so explicitly—I went back and couldn’t find any examples of it—but a couple of years ago, Trump pointed out that the Biden administration was giving preferential medical treatment to non-white Americans, and in the past several months, former Trump adviser Stephen Miller has been targeting anti-white institutions with lawsuits. And now Trump himself is recognizing the broader problem with anti-whiteism in our culture, which is a very good thing (him recognizing it, not the problem that is).
Now, you can tell this moment caught the Left by surprise because the mere acknowledgment that anti-whiteism exists was enough to reduce some commentators practically to tears. Here for example was the reaction from Whoopi Goldberg:

“This is my favorite, and I’m gonna tell you before I say it that it enraged me. ‘There is a definite anti-white feeling in the country right now.’ That’s what he said. You know, sir? Yeah, ‘sir.’ Nobody in your family was hung. Nobody in your family was chased because of the color of their skin- how dare you! There’s no anti-white issue here! You are perpetrating anti-HUMANIST issues here!”

“Enraged.” She was “enraged”by the mere mention - the mere mention that there might be some people who don’t like white people and that’s not a good thing enraged her. “Nobody in your family was hung,” Whoopi Goldberg barks at Donald Trump - and by the way I don’t want to get too graphic, but that’s one of the few cases where the difference between the words “hanged” and “hung” is actually pretty important, unless Whoopi Goldberg has some kind of intimate knowledge of Trump’s family that I’m not aware of. But anyway, she also claims Donald Trump is “anti-humanist,” which makes it clear that she doesn’t know what humanism is, and from context, though, it seems like Whoopi is saying that because no one in Donald Trump’s family was lynched, that means therefore anti-whiteism can’t possibly exist today. Or maybe she’s also implying that white people in general were never lynched, and then she’s using that false premise to somehow conclude that anti-whiteism can’t possibly exist today.
Whatever your interpretation, it doesn’t work, it doesn’t make sense. Because for one thing the biggest mass lynching in this country’s history targeted Italians, who Whoopi would presumably classify as white. White people were NOT immune from lynchings, in fact - in fact, according to a document on the University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Law’s website, tracking lynchings by race from the years 1882 to 1968, there were 1297 lynchings of white people during that time. Now, that’s fewer than the 3,445 black lynchings, but the point is that you certainly can’t ASSUME that any white person alive today doesn’t have a lynching victim in their ancestral history.
But even if you pretend that that’s not true—even if you pretend that lynching has only ever involved black people—it still doesn’t remotely address the fact that anti-whiteism is a much bigger problem right NOW than anti-black racism. You notice, and this is the way it always goes, she’s responding to a comment referring to what’s happening NOW, and her response automatically goes to the past. We’re not talking about the past, Whoopi, if you can believe it, we’re talking about what’s happening right now. So her entire argument is a non sequitur.
But it’s notable that Whoopi Goldberg was so fired up about this - and indeed, many Democrats are. Earlier this month, Congressman Cedric Richmond, a co-chair of Biden’s campaign, warned that Trump is, quote, “making it clear that if he wins in November, he’ll turn his racist record into official government policy, gutting programs that give communities of color economic opportunities and making the lives of Black and brown folks harder.”
Richmond made those comments in response to an Axios report last month, entitled, “Trump allies plot anti-racism protections — for white people.” Oh, imagine that. Specifically, a new Trump administration would shut down various programs designed to benefit only certain demographic groups. That includes programs like the $29 billion pandemic-era program that would have awarded money only to “women and minority-owned restaurants”—Stephen Miller’s group, America First Legal, successfully sued to stop that—but there are many more programs like that, which a Trump DOJ would shut down, hopefully; that’s what he’s saying he’ll do. That includes the NFL’s Rooney Rule, which mandates interviews with “minority” coaches, for example, but has no such mandates for white coaches - much less for white players, certainly.
And presumably, a second Trump administration would also end the absurd lawsuit against Sheetz for daring to use criminal background checks, which allege that any employer using background checks is automatically racist.
And this potential return to a race-blind government that respects the Constitution and, you know, actually treats everybody equally under the law regardless of race—which is what is supposed to happen—that potential greatly infuriates the left and it greatly infuriated a woman named Jasmine Harris, who directs “Black media” for the Biden-Harris campaign—because yes, they apparently have a segregated media department at the Biden campaign, and they deal with black media separately—but here’s what she said:

This [Axios] report, in addition to all of the recent examples of shameless racism by Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans, serves as a warning to Black America: Donald Trump is a selfish and vindictive man who doesn’t give a damn about Black people. .. He will make our lives worse by using the very laws that the pioneers of the Civil Rights Movement fought for, against us.

Now, there’s actually an interesting admission buried in that quote: The Biden black media director isn’t alleging that Donald Trump is gonna do anything illegal - instead, she’s complaining that he’s going to enforce existing civil rights laws, which were supposedly intended to ensure racial equality, he’s gonna enforce them equally. And this is a totally foreign concept to the Biden campaign. They’re essentially admitting that they’re discriminating against whites in violation of civil rights laws - but they’re saying those laws just shouldn’t be enforced to protect white people, who they see, obviously, as second-class citizens.
Yesterday afternoon, we saw yet another sign of this attitude - the Biden campaign’s official rapid response page tweeted this clip of Donald Trump, apparently in an effort to make him look bad—we can assume, I mean, because it’s coming from the Biden campaign—but the clip itself was actually more of an advertisement for the Trump campaign, which we can assume is not how it was intended, but here it is:

“Look at Paris, look at London, they’re no longer recognizable—and I’m gonna get myself into a lot of trouble with the folks in Paris and the folks in London—but you know what? That’s the fact. They are no longer recognizable, and we can’t let that happen to our country - we have incredible culture, tradition—nothing wrong with their culture, their tradition—we can’t let that happen here, and I’ll never let it happen to the United States of America.”

Now, the Biden campaign didn’t even comment on this video—they just posted it, quoting every word Trump said—and that’s because they know everything Trump said is true - pretty much all of the population growth in the U.K. going forward is going to be driven by migration. That’s been the case for the last several years, too. The unstated result is that fewer white people will live in the U.K., which the Biden administration assumes you’ll think is a good thing.
And that’s because, in their view, it’s not racist to deliberately diminish white populations - it’s also not racist to violate the civil rights of white people. In fact, they don’t believe it’s possible to BE racist against whites in the first place. This is what underlies ALL of this, is the assumption, the belief that, well, none of this is racist against whites because it’s not possible to be racist against whites - I mean, you could put a law in place mandating that all white people be rounded up and KILLED, and it would not be racist against white people. That’s what they actually believe. This is an idea that originated in the bowels of Left-wing academia and Critical Race Theory, and it’s since metastasized to politics - here’s how one professor in the U.K. named Pragya Agarwal puts it, and see if you can spot the massive flaw in this reasoning, it’s not hard to spot:

White people can indeed face stereotypical assumptions based on their skin color and hence encounter racial prejudice. But this cannot be called racism, because of the inherent systemic imbalance of power between those with lighter skin color and people of color. Racial prejudice can affect people on an individual level, but it would not have the same effect on a larger social and cultural level because it is only when stereotypes are bolstered by power … that it creates systemic and structural racism.

In other words, she’s saying that white people can’t be the victims of racism because racism involves “power” and “systemic imbalance,” and white people have all the power. Now, it takes about two seconds to realize that, even on its own terms, this argument makes precisely no sense whatsoever - the Fortune 500 companies that award preferential treatment to non-white applicants have far more “power” than their white applicants do, and so do the universities that award black applicants a 500-point boost on their SAT scores, and the federal government agencies that award financial assistance to various demographic groups on the basis of race. In all of these cases, there is prejudice backed by “power” - EXTRAORDINARY power, actually, we’re talking about academia, the Fortune 500 companies, and the federal government! Like, what’s more powerful than all of those institutions combined - or any one of the institutions by themselves?
But there’s really no point in engaging with Critical Race Theory on the merits, though, because it’s not actually meant to convince anyone of anything. It’s intended to be a thin, allegedly scholarly veneer that justifies overt discrimination against millions of Americans. And the appropriate response to this kind of thinking is not to treat it with any kind of legitimacy whatsoever, i’s to call it what it is: anti-white racism, or anti-whiteism. That’s what Donald Trump has just done. It’s what every Republican should be doing right now.
Talking about anti-whiteism infuriates Democrats because it’s been an unstated core part of their policy agenda for several years. And now, for the first time since Biden took office, it looks like it could very be soon coming to an end.

Found out my sister gave birth last week. No one even told me she was pregnant.
obviously i feel unwanted and vilified. in my eyes, they couldn’t want me to be in this child’s (or their) lives if they would hide his very birth from me. not just my sister and her husband, but my siblings, their families, our mutual friends, my parents… i just started my diagnosis journey last year, and this is such a slap in the face. i feel so alone. (TLDR at the end)
For Context: i’m the youngest of four (33F), and my sister and i are one year apart. our brothers are about 15 years older than us (same parents); they were born before my parents immigrated to the US. my sister was an accident, well after my family was settled. and growing up, i was told that they had me with the intention of “keeping her company.”
however it started, i ended up suffering a lot of trauma for these intentions. my family is staunchly catholic, does not acknowledge mental health, and wanted nothing more than peaceful assimilation in the US. they could not begin to comprehend a neurodivergent child and largely see me as something to be ashamed of and hide away. i grew up hidden from the public eye, but ignored and ridiculed at home, by one older brother in particular. the financial toll of two unplanned daughters bankrupted my father, and he took his frustrations out on me. he would take lights, pillows, and other comfort objects from me and give them to my siblings, locking me in closets and saying i didn’t deserve them because i “chose” to disobey his orders to “behave.” my siblings would revel in this, even sucking up to him to get him to buy them things they could rub in my face or barring doors shut from the outside. beyond material possessions, i was not allowed to participate in activities unless my sister wanted to, and being very competitive, she was quick to refuse to participate in anything she couldn’t easily beat me at. we once took an art class where she threw a tantrum because our teacher had praised me with a yellow ribbon. my dad refused to leave until the teacher gave my sister a ribbon of equal or greater value so she could rub it in my face.
as we got older and i emancipated myself, i kept my distant from my siblings. i knew my oldest brother did not condone how i was treated, but he had a family of his own before i was 10. i also couldn’t bring myself to blame my sister for my fathers dysfunction, however much she continued to profit off of the dynamic he cultivated. i love her, after all. i even once thought i saw a tear in her eye at a family holiday dinner when my one asshole brother was mocking my childhood self’s autistic behavior (which is typical of these occasions and why i would rarely attend). in that moment, i was so certain that she was sorry, and just didn’t know how to say it. i have always been ready to forgive her.
we were never friends or even close, she was there for me a couple of times i needed it, though seemingly begrudgingly. —i got into a car accident on the night her now husband was going to propose, and she was the one who picked me up, even on such an important night. i later overheard her gushing about the proposal to friends, including how embarrassing i had been at the venue (i had been so happy for her and clapped, which apparently she didn’t like).
—in the pandemic, i confided in her about my loneliness and SI, and she invited me to attend a weekly video chat she had with her friends. when i showed up, none of them even knew my name or who i was, and my sister stayed silent and off camera the whole time. i stopped attending, and she didn’t attempt to follow up with me.
—when i revealed my CPTSD diagnosis to her and tried to tell her about the things our dad would do to me, she said she didn’t know about any of it, but that she believed me. but she kept sucking up to him for gifts, and didn’t stand up for me the next time i was bullied at a gathering. i walked out, and she neither followed me nor attempted to contact me.
— i had intense burnout last year. i started being sexually harassed at my job, in the midst of trying to find treatment and a diagnosis. i ended up having to quit to avoid the gaslighting and retaliation (i’ve filed a claim with the the EEOC about it), and suffered an episode of skills regression and suicidal epression. i begged most of my family to try to be understanding and help me get things together, and she once brought groceries over and helped with dishes.
i have tried to reach out to her from time to time this past year, usually needing help and wanting to knew if i could expect it from her. but we never learned how to talk to each other. she tells me i need to stop thinking of myself as a burden, but she treats me like i am. it seemed to make her uncomfortable to be around me, and she doesn’t ask me questions or say any more than an empty platitude or two when i try to reach out to her for support. she never initiates contact. when she got married and moved out of my parents house, i practically had to beg her to invite me into her new home. it felt like she would have rather put me behind her.
between the lawsuit with my former employer, battles for treatment options with my insurance company, the trauma of the harassment, its aftermath of financial insecurity, i began begging her to be a better sister, reminding her of the ways i protected her growing up, how much more our father would give her, asking her how could she be so selfish in my time of need. it wasn’t the best look, but my SI was sky-high, and because she had shown up that one time, i thought she would want to help. she texted me not to hurt myself, that she wouldn’t know what to do if she lost me. i told i thought that mourning me would be easier than helping me if my asks for support were too much for her to act on. she hasn’t responded to any of my texts since.
TLDR: we grew up in a dysfunctional household where we were pitted against each other for her neurotypical benefit. she’s never been to therapy and, though she can acknowledge that i am treated unfairly in our family, she shows no interest in my life. when i have asked for support, she provides close to the bare minimum, but it’s more than anyone else gives me, so it means a lot.
how am i supposed to react to this exclusion from her life? i can’t be sorry for being born different, and i can’t blame her for me being too much for her or for wanting a simple life. i love her too much for that. i just don’t know how to tell her if she can’t even tell me she has a child.

EDIT: i very much appreciate the care a lot of you have put into your responses. obviously i have not had many experiences of genuine support in my life, so even the simplicity of a virtual hug means a great deal and helps me to triangulate the feeling of “being cared for” that has eluded me for so long.
i have commented on clarifications if anyone is interested. for example, i do have a therapist right now who is a gem, and i have been in therapy since the second i moved out of that house at 17 lol. i have an ok relationship with my mom and oldest brother (though both have been pretending not to know about this pregnancy for nine months, so i do see the potential benefit of pulling back from those relationships for a while.) i had been trying to have an adult relationship with my sister since our mid-twenties as well, though i see now that she might not have known how to express to me that she wasn’t ready for that. again, she never pursued therapy, and i had no frame of reference for how incomplete of an understanding of self that must have led to, given our upbringing.
in regard to SI: please know that there is no shame in asking for help. you are never selfish or a bother, no matter what some of these comments say. you deserve to have a life, and any way you fight for that is worth the effort (even the effort of repair, which can rewarding and enriching its own right). i highly recommend having a CRISIS PLAN outlined (a web search can provide plenty of templates). my brother and sister both agreed to be part of my crisis plan, however, so i guess note that substitutions may need to be made as new information comes to light 🥴. honestly, if my sister hadn’t agreed to be part of my crisis team (or had been honest about her capacity potentially being affected by efforts to start a family of her own), i don’t think our relationship would have gotten so strained this past year.
we never learned how to speak the same language, which takes effort from both sides. i wouldn’t have guessed that she was as far removed from that effort as she appears to be, perhaps an autistic lack of understanding of social cues, or simply because she hid those feelings from me, too. but her mixed signals are clear to me now. i understand she’s needed her space and did not know how to tell me. i hope so much that she gets therapy herself and avoids the same pitfalls of our parents generation.
i think i was generally looking for more support than advice here, but thank you to everyone who offered a concrete action. i will send her an opened ended mother’s day gift to wish her well without an expectation of including me. i will continue to evaluate my efforts to repair my familial relationships, and if i decide that being there for my only sister is important enough for me to forego her reciprocation of care, i will approach the situation without expectation of anything but the opportunity to tell her and my nephew that they are loved.

INTRODUCTION
This is a comprehensive post regarding Drake's extremely questionable behavior regarding minors and young women in general. There's more than 60 links in this post to various sources and it contains almost 30.000 characters.

Let me be clear - I do not like Drake. I've thought the guy was a creep ever since the Millie Bobby Brown video and I despise him - but I'll still try to remain as objective as possible here, you know my bias now though.

THE 17 YEAR OLD AT A SHOW
Drake is performing at a show in Ogden, Denver where he calls a girl up on stage. I really encourage you to watch this yourself, but since I know the majority of you won't watch it, I've described it for you below.
Video starts with her on stage, he asks her name, where she is from, asks the crowd to welcome her to the stage and tells her she looks great. He then asks her to give him two seconds because "I gotta be ready for you".
He wipes off his sweat with a towel and proceeds to take her hand, put it on his shoulder, his hand on her hip/back and they slowdance for a few seconds. He spins her around and stop her with her back facing him. This is when it starts to get.. really weird.
Drake says "I told you I like your hair, right, what is it, like herbal essence or something?" while he's caressing her shoulder and smelling her hair. He says something I can't hear properly, puts the mic down and exposes her upper back and neck by pulling her shirt collar down. The crowd goes wild. He then starts kissing her shoulder and neck, putting her arms around her and fondle her breast.
A few seconds later he picks up the mic again and says "you can't have me carried away again before I get in trouble - how old are you?" She responds "17". The crowd has a mixed reaction - Drake says something that is hard to make out, because of the crowd but when it's clear he says "I can't go to jail yet, man - 17? Why do you look like that? You thick - look at all this!"
It's hard to make out exactly what he says afterwards because of the poor quality (2011 zoomed video at a concert, it's bad..), but he says something about it bringing them (the 17 year old and Drake) to a close and follows it up with "I got one question for you (...) I just want to know if (something about women in Colorado), I should just take one opportunity to take one home?"
The girl nods "As a Colorado woman you'd enjoy that?" "Well, listen 17, I had fun - I don't know if I should feel guilty or not, but I had fun. I liked the way your breasts felt against my chest. I just want to thank you." He then puts the mic down again, grabs her hand and kisses it. You might think that was a little over the top, but he then immediately follows it up by putting his hand on her chin and kissing both of her cheeks, her forehead and then on her fucking lips.
I think he asks her to walk off stage, it's hard to make out, but then he says "It's okay. I'm only 23, I can do shit like that. It's all good, you know what I'm saying" and the video ends.
Addition: I know this girl has said she was not offended, violated, whatever you want to call it, but that's not the point. And I do not mean to sound like a complete dick, but it's not about her - it's about Drake and proving his pattern of behavior over many instances. If you stopped here because she denied it, you completely missed the point.
MILLIE BOBBY BROWN
Now this video was what really made me do a double take on Drake. Now, there's one very important fact to establish here and that is that Millie Bobby Brown at the time of this interview (18. September 2018) is 14 (Born 19. February 2004). I'll quickly transcribe the interview here:
Interviewer:

What about your relationship with Drake, tell me about your friendship, how did this all come about?

Millie Bobby Brown:

I love him. I met him in Australia and he's honestly so fantastic and a great friend and a great role model. You know we text - we just texted each other the other day and he was like "I miss you so much" and I was like "I miss you more". He's coming to Atlanta, so I'm definitely gonna go and see him and I'm so excited.

Interviewer 2:

You and Drake? That's awesome. That's awesome..

Interviewer:

What advice does he give you? What does he say?

MMB:

About boys he helps me, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah he's great. He's wonderful, I love him.

Interviewer:

What's his advice with boys?

MMB:

Ehm, you know.. That stays in the text messages.

I'm sure it's obvious what is wrong here and I don't need to spell it out for any of you, but I do have one thing to add. If Drake is giving advice about boys and telling her "I miss you so much" they must have talked for a while. It's not something you say after knowing a person for a week. We are talking months at least. There's 7 months between her birthday and the interview - did Drake already start talking to her when she was 13? It would make sense that Drake was in Australia during their summer (Dec-Feb) for festivals/concerts/vacation.
Millie has only commented on this once which was a few days later in a story on Instagram
I don't want or mean to infantilize her, but she was 14. She would have no chance of knowing if Drake actually was grooming her. There's not a chance that she could understand the dynamic at play and why it's wrong at that age.
Drake also defended their friendship on the song Another Late Night when he raps:

Weirdos in my comments talkin' 'bout some Millie Bobby, look
Bring them jokes up to the gang, we get to really flockin'

Ironically enough that very same song is also connected to the next person
BILLIE EILISH
The year after the Millie Bobby Brown controversy Drake gets caught texting a minor again and this time it's Billie Eilish. She does a yearly interview with Vanity Fair, and in the 2019 version she's asked who's her most famous contact in her phone. That's when she reveals she's been texting with Drake and that he's so very nice to her. Billie is at the time of the interview (released 25. November 2019) 17 (born 18. December 2001).
Billie did defend Drake and their texting in an interview with Vogue ~3 months later:

“The internet is such a stupid-ass mess right now,” says Eilish, who quit Twitter in 2018. “Everybody’s so sensitive. A grown man can’t be a fan of an artist? There are so many people that the internet should be more worried about. Like, you’re really going to say that Drake is creepy because he’s a fan of mine, and then you’re going to go vote for Trump? What the fuck is that shit?”

On the song Another Late Night where Drake mentions Millie Bobby Brown, Lil Yachty is featured (one of Drake's gho.. co-writers) and he raps the line:

I let her go, she fine as hell but baby wasn't stylish (Yeah)
She had big tits like Billie Eilish but she couldn't sing (Drip)

Now - I know this is not Drake, I just thought it was a 'funny' coincidence that these two women are connected through their shared experiences with Drake and this song. On another note some might say that Drake should have asked Yachty to omit this line if he really was a friend of Billie Eilish since she has been quite vocal about sexualization of herself and women in general.
BELLA HARRIS
This one is pretty fucking bad in my opinion. Bella Harris is the daughter of Jimmy Jam who's a record producer, songwriter etc. and has been very successful. Through him she's been in and around the entertainment/music business her whole life and met Drake that way.
There's an archive of photos posted here that contains the old IG posts she had with Drake. The first one was on May 5th, 2016 - Bella Harris is born 20. April, 2000. She had just turned 16 at the time.
Objectively I think they are defendable since they are all music related - Rihanna concert, Summer Sixteen Tour (ironic name..) and the American Music Awards, but then two years later they reportedly start dating and that makes it really difficult to believe, especially with the last archived photo of them in 2018. Also the same photo that is referenced in this article talking about Drake renting an entire restaurant for an intimate dinner between them.
Note that E! have confirmed it and are not backing down on their claim despite Harris denying it on Instagram.
Her father liked this post on Instagram about the whole situation. It's not particular to the restaurant or previous potential dating it's more so a general declaration of support for Drake, but that includes the PDF-file allegations.
Him supporting Drake made me search for more information, because I wanted to find whether or not he had spoken about it at the time. That led me to this article where her mother, Lisa, is being asked a few questions regarding Bella.

I was surprised Jimmy Jam hasn't introduced Bella to Drake, Rihanna or anybody else in the music world she is interested in meeting.
"No," said Lisa. "She loves Rihanna, she loves Beyoncé. [Bella has met Bey; her brother Max has met Ri-Ri.] She hasn't met Drake. Too old."

Lisa Harris about a photo of Bella (included in the article) - Bella is 14, almost 15 at the time.

I think Drake would behave himself around a child, even one dressed like this, to wit: Mom doesn't think this photo is too sexy, in all its legginess?
"SHE'S WEARING A BATHING SUIT and a coat!" said Lisa. "Sexy? What? My point is it's a body business, so I don't look at it [that way]. It's a posed picture. She has a one-piece bathing suit on. It's artistic."

KYLIE JENNER
Ever since the Kanye (also fuck Kanye for the record) vs. Drake beef we (or I at least) became aware of the fact that Drake has had a long relationship with the Kardashians/Jenners and known them for many, many years. In fact Drake performed at Kylie's sweet 16 back in 2013. You know what that Sweet 16 was specifically remembered for as well? Drake kissing Kylie on the cheek in front of everyone, including her then boyfriend Jaden Smith.
That's not out of the ordinary and would be very normal, if it wasn't for the clear pattern that is going on here, because guess what - 6 years later Drake and Kylie reportedly start dating, well.. dating/fucking/whatever you wanna call it. Admittedly this article is easily dismissed as paparazzi journalism and clickbait, but what if I told you that Drake has rapped this:

Yeah, I’m a hater to society/Real shit, Kylie Jenner that’s a side piece/Yeah, I got 20 muthafuckas in’ Kylies.

You probably wouldn't have heard it, since it was on an unreleased track played on an Instagram Live back in 2020, but it does make it seem pretty likely that he did actually hook up with her, especially considering the response Drake posted

“A song that mark ran last night on night owl sound live set shouldn’t have been played,” he wrote, “It’s a song that leaked 3 years ago and got scrapped shortly after. He was just going too deep in the drake/future catalogue. Last thing I’d want to do is wake up having any friends of mine feeling disrespected so I just had to say that to start off the day.”

Kylie was 22 at the time they reportedly hooked up.
HAILEY BALDWIN (NOW BIEBER)
In 2016 there were reports that Hailey and Drake were dating. Apparently they hooked up at a party that Drake hosted, where another attendee is also mentioned that seems oddly relevant:

Drake and Hailey weren't the only ones getting close, with Kylie Jenner and rumoured new boyfriend PartyNextDoor were seen "making out" at the party.
"It was almost like she was trying to make a statement," an insider added.

Now again - there's nothing illegal in a 11 year age difference and dating a 19-year old as 30. It's weird, yes. But again we come back to the pattern. Why do Drake know Hailey? Through their similar friends and friend group (Kardashians/Jenners). How long has Drake known Hailey? Well, when Hailey was 19, she said they had known each other for a long time.
We can actually get even closer with certainty since we know that Hailey attended Kylie's Sweet 16 in August, 2013. Hailey is born 22. November 1996, so she was also 16 at the time. So it's another girl that Drake has known since she was a minor and started dating when he got the opportunity. This is not normal.
Another pattern that Drake also seem to follow is that likes to hook up with his friends girl. We know for a fact that he hooked up with Lil Wayne's girlfriend while he was in prison. He not only rap about it, but also admit it in an interview. It's not really hard to believe that he did the same with Bieber.
CYDNEY CHRISTINE (LIL CC)
Cydney Christine is a beatmaker and model - she produced the Drake song Money In The Grave and in a Complex interview/roundtable she talks about it and Drake.

Really the only artist I reached out to is Drake. I'd never met him, never spoke to him, I don't know why, but he has been following me for the past like 6 years. I don't know why..

This interview was uploaded 17. December 2019, Cydney Christine's is born 21. July, 1997, meaning she was 22 at the time of the interview and 15-16 when Drake started following her. This is somewhat innocent but strange since Drake is 27 at the time. That's not what is really weird though.
In March 2023, Lil CC is on the No Jumper podcast and here she speaks about Drake and having her debut beat being a Drake single.
Lil CC: I played basketball, right, so he really was a fan or not a fan, sorry, supported one of my teammates at the time um..
Adam 22: And this is when you are in high school?
Lil CC: Yeah, in high school. So he was a fan of women's basketball - high school basketball - I was her teammate so he followed me because of her, and I was like "oh shit, bitch, you got Drake to follow me, like what the hell? Like that's so crazy". So he followed me and I lost it - I have to meet Drake, I love Drake, I've always loved Drake, still love Drake.
There's more to the conversation, but the relevant part is here is that it's just very, very strange for Drake to be a women's high school basketball fan. They are 16 at the time. He's a supporter of a 16 year old female high school basketball player as a 27 year old grown adult man. He has not hooked up with her, dated or anything of the sorts that we know of or that she has told - for the record.

It's not like I have whole section for this, but his obsession with Aaliyah is just another part of the pattern. I don't have a lot to contribute here, but if you don't know Aaliyah's story I'd recommend reading her Wikipedia and specifically the section about her personal life. I know people say Jorja Smith, and I do agree that dating a 19-year old as a 30-year old man is weird and rather pathetic, but every other girl mentioned is related to minors. Their relationship if you can call it that was for sure toxic, and it seems like Drake was a piece of shit abusing the power dynamic between them. This is taken from the Drizzy subreddit, but I can't provide the source since that gets the post blacklisted as it's temporarily banned because of brigading.

In “Summer Games” Drake also says ”I kept it decent, even the secrets, kept it between you and I”. What secrets exactly? Well in Jaded, Drake says this woman “told him all her insecurities”.
It’s also interesting that the song “Summer Games” is about a woman who broke up with Drake right at the beginning of the summer. Drake and Jorja were dating in April of 2017 which is right before the summer starts and only lasted a couple weeks.

But that's all there is to it. I can't dig up anything else, so unless someone have something credible with sources, I don't think there's good enough reason to add her to the list further up.
FINAL NOTE
I know there's questions about the reliability of CDAN and that he was exposed, but in the very same article The Daily Beast refers back to one of their old articles on the subject which definitely confirms that he had/have industry ties and do know a lot. Another reddit user dove further in and made some compelling arguments.

I know it’s presumptuous to say it’s done but hear me out. Drake has been saying in his bars how he’s going on vacation and doesn’t want to diss Kendrick anymore. All the heat is on Drake right now especially after releasing the subpar THP6 to defend against the allegations which a lot of folks believe. Plus I don’t think there’s anymore tea for Drake to spill considering he’s recycling talking points. It’s a 0 sum game for him to continue so hes going to stay out of the spotlight logically until he has an album or hit single ready.
Kendrick obviously from news sources says he has more bars for Drake however I don’t think he’ll release them for a couple reasons. The first being most everyone already thinks Kendrick won anyway it’d be superfluous if he dropped again. Second, Drakes house was shot at recently and while I don’t think Kendrick had anything to do with it if he continues dropping disses and the violence gets worse you could make the argument he’s just inciting violence on Drake at a point. Third, rumors are that Universal Music Group is involved now saying for him to squash the beef with Drake and to say he’s not a pedo. If he continues the beef that can have damning consequences to his own career and possibly a lawsuit. He could still drop but there’s more cons than pros in doing so.
I’m not mad about it though we got a lot of jams from both camps and honestly probably the most memorable rap beef in recent memory. I can’t imagine we’ll ever see anything like it again.

The multifrequency microwaves are then applied to the brain in the region of the auditory cortex. Sound is induced in the head of a person by radiating the head with microwaves in the range of 100 megahertz to 10,000 megahertz that are modulated with a particular waveform. The waveform consists of frequency modulated bursts. Each burst is made up of ten to twenty uniformly spaced pulses grouped tightly together. The present invention performs efficient layout verification by performing LVS and DRC checking on the new portions of an integrated circuit design and layout areas containing overlapping cells. When instances of cells overlap, the present invention determines the overlap area using predefined data structures that divide each cell into an array of spatial bins. Each bin of a parent is examined to determine if two or more cell instances reside therein or if a cell instance and local geometry reside therein. Once overlap is detected, the areas of the layout data corresponding to the overlap areas are selectively flattened prior to proceeding to DRC and LVS processing. During selective flattening of the overlap areas, the hierarchical tree is traversed from the top cell down through intermediate nodes to the leaf nodes. Depending on the frequency chosen, excitation of such resonances causes relaxation, sleepiness, sexual excitement, or the slowing of certain cortical processes. The WHO just updated its guidance to explicitly state that most viral infection particles linger in the air like smoke rather than falling quickly like droplets to the ground.
This might seem like boring nerd stuff but what we're watching unfold is a medical revolution, and the story of how we got here is wild. Highly recommend everyone read "The 60-year-old-screwup that helped covid kill," for starters.
If you've read much about the 1918 flu then you realize that in 2020 when covid hit the playbook they dusted off to contain it was over a century old. Literally, in spite of all our technology the global pandemic response had not been updated in 100 years. We were getting instructions to wipe down surfaces and stand 6 feet apart that were all based on the old theory of droplet transmission, where viruses are lobbed out when you cough and sneeze and fall onto surfaces that we touch or hit us directly in the face if we stand too close. In 1918 the pandemic response included shutting down kissing booths and making it illegal to spit in public, which permanently changed one facet of US culture. Masks designed as spit-guards were also popularized for the first time.
In 2020 what changed is that the scale of the pandemic finally got particle physicists, historians and epidemiologists all on the same page working on the same problem. A group of scientists - all women - figured out that particles that remain airborne are 20 times bigger than we thought, which means that breathing, not spitting, is the primary mode of transmission for all illness.
If don't realize yet how big a deal this is, just consider the difference between public health before and after they discovered that water-borne illness is responsible for cholera and started to clean the water. It means that everything we thought we knew about how not to get sick is wrong. We don't have "flu season" - we have "bad ventilation season." Getting sick isn't inevitable in the way that winter is - we've just been doing prevention wrong for the last hundred years.
What's stopping us from changing course is whole other story, about cost, bureaucratic inertia, and liability. For example, the WHO circulated an illustration on twitter in 2020 explicitly saying that covid was not airborne, so it's hard for them to really trumpet this change as a big deal when admitting they were very wrong could open the door to lawsuits. (I recommend reading Julia Doubleday's writing for more about all this political conflict.)
Secondly, it costs more to revamp indoor air purification and ventilation standards and to supply hospitals with N95s designed to trap aerosols than it does to tell people to wash their hands. The CDC seems to be balking at following the WHO's lead for that reason.
Which is another reason it would be cool to see a segment on it. The general public doesn't know that the best defense against getting sick are air purifiers and particle masks, and no one has a vested interest in telling us. Disabled people who wear masks to medical appointments are being inappropriately diagnosed with anxiety because even doctors still don't realize that they're a sensible tool for avoiding illness, and campuses and stores have been banning masks to enhance surveillance. But these same locations hang posters on handwashing techniques, still using 20th century medical practices that were never adequate to stop infection.

It's important to distinguish underlying principles from the minutiae of investing. I am often asked my opinion on a topic or an investment, and I readily share those opinions. However, it is easy for a casual reader or listener to mistake the trees for the forest. Today, I'm going to tell you about the forest. These are the hills I'm willing to die on.

#1 Financial Planning Makes You Happier

I am 100% convinced that financially secure doctors are better partners, parents, and physicians. By doing real financial planning, you will have less stress, less burnout, less divorce, and less suicide. You will be happier. You will provide better patient care. Just do it.

#2 Wealth Comes Mostly from Making a Lot and Saving a Lot

Wealth comes mostly from making a lot of money and saving a big chunk of it—not from your investing prowess. When I started The White Coat Investor blog, I thought I'd be writing all about investing. I thought I'd spend a lot of time on estate planning and asset protection. But what really makes the difference is good personal finance habits. Your goal should be to be a good earner and saver and an adequate investor. If you can do that, you will become wealthy and meet all of your financial goals.
It turns out that frugality matters. Try to resist living like a doctor. Save 20% of your gross income and grow into your income as slowly as you can. Make as much money as you can, especially early in your career. Negotiate your contracts well; work hard; and, if you're interested, do a side hustle.

#3 You Need a Reasonable Written Investing Plan

There are many roads to Dublin. I am not going to prescribe an asset allocation to you that you must follow to be successful. I've seen lots of books that have been written like that, giving you the reasons behind some particular asset allocation plan. The truth is that any reasonable plan will do. There is no perfect portfolio, and if there was, you couldn't know what it was in advance. It turns out that the investor matters more than the investment. So, make a detailed investing plan and write it down. If you can't write it down, take our Fire Your Financial Advisor online course and/or hire help until you can. Then, implement it and follow it. As long as it's a reasonable plan and it's adequately funded, it will lead you to reach your investing goals.

#4 Index Funds Are the Best Foundation for a Portfolio

Buying and holding a fixed asset allocation of low-cost, broadly diversified index mutual funds is the best foundation for a portfolio. This method of investing is basically free. There is barely any monetary cost, time, or effort required. Expense ratios are now under 10 basis points a year. That's basically free. Once you put your assets into there, it takes almost no time and effort to maintain them. You put your contributions in each month and perhaps rebalance once a year. This sort of portfolio can literally be managed in as little as an hour per year. It's a great foundation for an investing plan.
This approach allows you to focus your efforts where they matter most (see #2 above). Since nobody actually knows the future, there's no sense in worrying about it or listening to those who are trying to predict it. Avoid market timing and individual stock picking. It is extremely hard to do either successfully long term, especially after-tax and after accounting for the value of your time and additional worry.
Maybe you want to get a little fancy here and there. Fine. Maybe you want to build a real estate empire on the side. That's a viable pathway to wealth, and done properly, it can help you reach financial independence earlier. Go for it. If you want to speculate on precious metals or crypto assets or commodities, limit that to a single-digit percentage of your portfolio.
But the foundation should be index funds. It's better for most of you, and it's certainly much easier for your heirs. Index funds don't buy ads at The White Coat Investor. Don't get me wrong. I'm very happy with the performance of our private real estate investments overall, but 85% of our portfolio is still in index funds and similar investments. You should have a very good reason to invest in anything that is not an index fund.

#5 Insure Well But Only Against Financial Catastrophes

I am not anti-insurance. I think you should insure well but only against those things that really are financial catastrophes. What are the financial catastrophes?

• Disability, if you are depending on your income.
• Death, if anyone else depends on your income.
• Health. Illnesses and injuries can get very expensive very quickly, especially when they also keep you from working.
• Liability, both professional and personal.
• Property loss. Most people can't afford to replace their house if it burns down, so they should insure it.

If anybody else is depending on your income, you need life insurance, but you probably don't need it for your entire life. One of the main problems with whole life insurance is you're buying insurance against something that isn't a financial catastrophe (dying late in life). Even if you die at 90, the policy is going to pay out. That is why a typical whole life policy costs 8-10 times as much as a term life policy.
Remember that insurance is, on average, a bad deal. Think about it. Insurance companies do not pay out every dollar they take in in premiums. They cannot do so and stay in business. They have expenses and want to make a profit. So, on average, an insurance purchaser is losing money. Don't buy more than you need.

#6 Live Like a Resident for 2-5 Years Out of Residency

Whether you're going for public service loan forgiveness, or whatever else is happening, it is so much easier not to grow into your income than it is to cut back once you have grown into your income.
That period of time—right when you come out of residency and you're all fired up about your new career and excited to work hard and you're used to working hard and not spending much—is the time to become wealthy. Earn like an attending and spend like a resident. You can take the difference between those two, which is likely a six-figure amount, and pay off your student loans very quickly, catch up to your college peers with retirement savings, and maybe even save up a down payment for your dream home. It's really a great way to become very wealthy very quickly. Nearly every doctor will want options to cut back in some way by mid-career. The best way to ensure you have those options is to live like a resident in your early career.

#7 Spend Intentionally

I don't really care what you value. I don't care if it's a wakeboat, a Tesla, fancy vacations to Europe, $10,000 handbags, Michelin three-star restaurants, or a nice house. I don't care if you're retiring at 40 or putting your kids in private school. I do care that you're spending your money on what you care about most. When you have both financial literacy and financial discipline, you will spend intentionally by being generally frugal and selectively extravagant. You can have anything you want but not everything you want. Choose wisely.

#8 Get Good Advice at a Fair Price

Get good advice at a fair price or learn how to be your own financial planner and investment manager. That is certainly a doable task for somebody with the intellect of a physician, but you have to be interested. If you're interested, you will gain the knowledge required to do this task, and you will gain the discipline required to do it well. If you're not interested enough to consider this at least a minor hobby, you should hire a financial advisor. Get one that's offering good advice at a fair price. Good advice means they're telling you the same sorts of things that you read on this blog and with other reliable sources of investing information. A fair price is a four-figure amount per year. If you're paying more than $10,000 a year, we can almost surely find you an advisor that will give you as good or better advice for less money. Do the math on AUM fees. If you are a millionaire and you're paying 1% a year, you're already paying more than $10,000 a year. Good financial advice and service are expensive, but not that expensive.

#9 Understand and Use Your Tax-Advantaged Accounts

Each of us has tax-advantaged accounts available to us, as long as we have earned income. These include employer-provided accounts like 401(k)s, 403(b)s, 457(b)s, and 401(a)s. They include self-employed accounts like individual 401(k)s and personal cash balance plans. They also include personal accounts like Roth IRAs, HSAs, and 529s. Get your plan documents and read them. You have a second job as a pension fund manager, and you need to actually do something about that job despite the fact that you weren't given any training for it in medical school or residency.
These are all tax-advantaged accounts. They all have different contribution limits and different rules. You need to understand how they work and which ones are available to you—and you need to use them. They will help your money grow faster. They will protect your assets from your creditors and make your estate planning easier. They are the single greatest tax break available to you as a practicing physician.

#10 Pay Cash and Avoid Debt

Doctors generally have enough income that they can waste quite a bit of it and make quite a few financial mistakes and still be OK. However, the principles are the same whether you make $50,000 or $500,000. Here's the principle. It's so simple that even my young kids understand it.
“Would you rather earn interest or pay interest?”
That's right. You'd rather earn it. Get in the habit of not buying stuff that you can't afford. How do you know if you can afford it? If you can pay cash for it, you can afford it. Yes, I understand the math behind borrowing at a low rate and hopefully earning at a higher rate. If you're in one of those situations and you're convinced that you're actually investing the difference, go right ahead. But most of the time, we're human. We borrow at a low rate, we forget to invest at the higher rate, we spend it on something we want, and we end up poorer because of it. Don't do that.
That same drive that causes wealthy people to invest also drives them to pay off debt. Make enough and save enough that you can do both while still living a life where you do not feel deprived.

#11 Minimize Your Taxes and Know the Tax Code

While the tax code can be incredibly complicated, the basics are easily understood. Know the difference between a deduction and a credit. Know an above-the-line vs. a below-the-line or itemized deduction. Know where the various schedules and forms feed into the 1040. There are smaller or larger changes every year, but it's going to be mostly the same system every year of your life. Understand how it works today, and you'll find it much easier to understand the changes as they occur over the years.
I'm always amazed to talk to people who really don't understand how the tax code works, and they just parrot things they hear in the media and assume that they're actually true when they aren't. It's important to understand the tax code. You can't win this game without knowing the rules. Unless your favorite charity is the US government, you would do well to remember what Judge Learned Hand said:
“Anyone may so arrange his affairs that his taxes shall be as low as possible; he is not bound to choose that pattern which will best pay the Treasury; there is not even a patriotic duty to increase one's taxes.”

#12 Asset Protection Is Easy and Matters Less Than You Think

Too many doctors are terribly afraid of losing everything to a malpractice lawsuit. It is actually incredibly rare for a doctor to lose any personal money in a lawsuit. For the most part in a malpractice lawsuit, you're serving as a defense witness for an insurance company.
That doesn't excuse you from doing the simple, effective asset protection stuff. Buy professional and personal (umbrella) liability insurance. Title your property properly (tenants by the entirety). Max out your retirement accounts. Understand your state asset protection laws. Put your rental properties into LLCs. When it makes sense, form LLCs and corporations. Once you're wealthy, use sensible irrevocable trusts for estate planning purposes and reap the asset protection benefits, too. Most importantly, remember that your biggest asset protection risk is lying in that bed next to you each night. Given divorce rates ranging from 10% (two-doc couples) to 50% (general population), date night is the best asset protection technique.

They usually sell homes in the $1.5 mil+ range and so we were surprised to see a group of 4 cottage style town homes that they built offered at $700k in a desirable neighborhood in Seattle, where we live. Home is a 2 br 2.25 bath 1000sq new build with higher end finishes (marble, induction stove, full bathtub, tankless water heater...etc) It is 1/4 on the lot but doesn't share any walls and we became the "president" of the HOA after purchase. Since 8/22 there has been issue after issue with all of the homes. 2 out 4 had catastrophic leaks within the first 2 months post purchase, 1 home leaked through the ceiling and damaged the electrical in the kitchen below and the other leaked between the walls of the guest bathroom on the second floor requiring a complete bathroom remodel, unit 3 also had a leak but was more minor and our units shower had to be completely redone because they didn't grade the tile causing water to simply pool up with every shower. The issues stacked up, they replaced all 4 front doors because 1 units door got wet and swole up enough to pop the hardware off. Their explanation was that "we're a Southern California company and we didn't realize you can't have wooden doors in the Pacific Northwest." (I would say 90% of doors here are wood they just don't know how to seal them.) I could ramble off about a dozen issues but the upside is that they have been quick and fixed every issue the owners have complained about. Usually the quality of work is terrible, they use cheap labor and do shoddy work but at least they are responsive. The last issue and the one that has started us talking about a lawsuit is that the tankless water heater they installed in all 4 houses is too small to actually meet the demand with use. Specifically the tankless they installed has an output of 3.4 gallons per minute and an average bathtub demand is 4.4-6 gallons per minute. I went back and forth with the company about giving us the next size up and they are adamant that we do not have the panel space to facilitate the upgrade. I had a journeyman electrician come out and do an evaluation and he confirmed that we do have the space on the panel, he gave me his personal number and said he would have no issues putting it in writing. So I presented that to the builder, here is there response
"I appreciate your provided information on Hart's findings, notwithstanding the electricians conclusions, it is fair to say that your panel in your home is not being used at full capacity. However, the underlining concern lies in the overall ampage of the lot as a whole, affecting each home individually. The permissible ampage per Seattle City Light for the entire lot ( 4 homes ) was 600 amps, allowing for 200 amps per home. The 600 is max per lot, so if one HO is using more than the other any time of day, it affects/takes away from the next HO and so forth. I.E if all four homes on the lot are using the showetub the same evening, this leaves only 50amps for each home to run everything that home needs ran, that is not much to work with. Working off of the city's requirements our design team had to thoroughly think through every scenario with safety being key, they internally decided installing that size tankless tank was the responsible action to take, not to max out any one HO's panel, taking into account the usage varies from HO to HO on a daily basis. I hope this sheds some light on where *** is coming from and why we stand by our offer to supply a tank that uses less amps vs bigger capacity tankless that uses more amps, we also want you to have the space and tub that you rightfully so, desire."
Correct me if I am wrong but it seems as though they have, in writing, willingly admitted to fraud. They sold the homes listed as contains 1 full bathroom 1 3/4 bath and 1/2 bath. A reasonable assumption by a buyer would be that the hot water unit included in the sale of the home should be enough to adequately fill a bathtub, right? At this point the other 3 houses are in agreement that enough issues have popped up that we should potentially attempt a class action against the builder.
1) Do we have any kind of case?
2) Is it worth it to pursue?

TLDR - Builder installed hot water unit that doesn't meet the demands of houses in a small HOA and willingly admitted they internally discussed and installed it prior to selling the homes. Should we attempt a class action suit?

My story begins with a complex family dynamic, full of turmoil and unresolved pain. I am 15 years old, living with my mother, father, and my maternal grandparents, who I consider my guardians. After some time, my father reached out to my mother, asking for a second chance. Despite the abuse, my mother, always hopeful, accepted. However, my grandparents were much less forgiving. They didn't want him back in our lives, knowing how dangerous he could be. But my mother believed in reconciliation, even when everyone around her didn't.
My father seemed to be making an effort at first. He invited us to spend the day with him, promising to take us shopping and maybe have some family time. Instead, he took us to his side of the family, where we ended up staying for nearly two months. It was a miserable experience. The conditions were rough, and I quickly began to lose weight because the food was scarce. My sister and I longed for the safety of my grandparents' home.
My grandparents eventually convinced my father's family to let us go back to them. My father, however, made it clear that he wanted nothing to do with my mother. He even said he would divorce her, which my mother desperately wanted to avoid. Despite her vulnerability as a deaf person, she did everything she could to keep our family together. Yet, my father was cruel in his words and actions, often blaming her for things that were not her fault.
The last straw came during a religious festival when my father dropped my mother off at my grandparents' house and then told her via a video call that he would not be picking her up. He cruelly said that she shouldn't try to come back to him. My grandparents were furious, and they decided to get the police involved to ensure my mother's safety.
When we went to my father's house with the police, it was empty. Everything was gone, including my mother's jewelry and other personal belongings. It was clear that my father was trying to disappear and leave us with nothing. We filed a police report and a lawsuit, hoping to get some justice for my mother, who had endured so much abuse and mistreatment at the hands of my father.
Through it all, my grandparents were our saviors. They supported us emotionally and financially, ensuring we had everything we needed to thrive. They paid for our schooling, provided food, and created a loving home. Without them, I don't know where we would be.
Now, I find myself in a position where I need to speak out against my father's family. They have tried to silence us and deny the truth about what happened. I need to be strong for my mother, who has always been my strength, even in her silence. Despite my father’s cruel treatment of her, she has shown nothing but love and resilience.

The game actually takes place in an alternate reality, in a nearby star system called Epsilon Eridani. Centauri City is on the planet Cosmo, an Earthlike planet populated by 14 billion humans and at a similar technological stage to current Earth society.
Centauri City is a sprawling megalopolis with a skyscraper-littered downtown area surrounded by "bright and airy" large-scale towns with large avenues and with large private gated communities with large detached mansions owned by UHNWIs, with enormous highways spanning it and a hi-tech "larger-than-average" multi-line monorail network.
Centauri City is exclusively for the rich...but due to a fear of a "robot uprising", humans still make up the majority of the service worker industry...and most service workers live outside the Centauri City limits in the low-to-mid income suburb of Dium (a large town with crumbling ageing Greco-Roman architecture, small single-family homes and towering apartment blocks built to tackle an overpopulation crisis). Dium can also be explored by Emmett from Chapter Five onwards.
The Mayor of Centauri City is Peter G. Hamilton III and during his tenure, crime across Centauri City has fallen by 34%.
Meet Emmett

When his grandfather - a multibillionaire - passes away, he is astonished to discover that he has inherited part of his grandfather's estate - a large slice worth the equivalent US$4.3 billion (currency in Centauri City is Plutonian Dollars and US$4.3 billion is 3.29 billion Plutonian dollars). The rest was inherited by his estranged father and estranged brothers.
Whilst Emmett is able to initially go on a spending spree, being this rich is apparently not that easy...not to mention that his late ailing grandfather...left a lot of projects unfinished and some of the employees of some of his holdings' subsidiaries were imvolved in class-action lawsuits against his grandfather's corporations; state and federal government tax authorities were also still chasing some of his companies which had been engulfed in an ongoing tax evasion dispute.
To top things off, Emmett, who "can't seem to keep his dick in his pants", admits that he's "fallen in love" with Willow Folis, a young bartender who works in a downtown bar who lives in Dium, but has four brothers who are hardened criminals involved in Dium's underworld.
Playing as Emmett, players can get involved in a multi-layered story campaign or just freeroam across the enormous map (it's roughly 307 square kilometers, so more than twice the size of The Witcher 3 map and nearly 2.5 times larger than the playable area in AC Odyssey). Whilst Centauri City and Dium make up the majority of the playable area, there is a large and complex highway system spanning the map, as well as roadside diners, truck stops, smaller, company towns and "motorcycle gang hives" dotted on the outskirts of the map. The outer regions of the map have been designated as "dangerous" by law enforcement, but Emmett has a thrill-seeking dangerous side to him, so...
The multilayered story campaign revolves around one of Emmett's grandfather's corporations, HoudiniTech, a tech and robotics company, whose R&D division has been engaging in some "questionable" research on the poorest in society, testing out cutting-edge dangerous cybernetic tech as well as secretly building "the robots of the future". But because Emmett's grandfather was pushed out, Emmett now barely has any voting power in HoudiniTech and there is a lack of oversight over what goes on in its R&D division. Whilst Emmett's ailing grandfather had been a majority shareholder, his enemy and former business partner Alton Hicks had held a large portion of the voting shares in HoudiniTech and was responsible for the day-to-day activities of the company.
Players can choose to embark on the campaign or just avoid it altogether.
In the game, there are 312 ownable and driveable vehicles, 31 aircraft, 7 airports and airfields and multiple entertainment venues. There is also a "game within a game" in Billionaire Simulator. Playing as Emmett, players can visit any of the 12 "ampitheatre pleasure domes called The Colosseums" which are dotted across the map where they can enter in-game VR combat competitions with paintballing-like matches set in computer-generated postapocalyptic settings where participants either play as "The Hunter" or "The Hunted".
It also helps to mention that there are three spaceports on the map: one is abandoned, another is owned by billionaire Rufus Van Hooten via his space company Van Hooten Space and the third is co-owned, co-managed and run by the state space agency, Austin State Space Agency and Centauri City's largest educational establishment, Austin State Institute of Technology, a college which has a multibillion dollar asset management company (ASIT Investment Management) with P$121 billion AUM.
Bear in mind, there is no space travel in the game (it's not a space game and this isn't Starfield, Star Citizen or Squadron 42) and no, you can't travel offworld or across Cosmo (the planet), but the presence of spaceports should give you an idea of the state of the society and at various points in the game, you can also watch regular space launches and in-game televised space launches.
After meeting Willow the bartender and hearing her talk about the issues faced by people in Dium, players can choose to ignore her...or make a decision to restart the Emmett Warner Foundation with an investment of P$20m, but doing so won't be easy as Warner discovers that his problems have been multiplied beyond recognition coupled with the fear of his associates and/or "trusted executives" embezzling funds.
Emmett also discovers that his grandfather funded the already-well-funded Austin State Patrol with an annual sum of P$6m, prompting a suspicious Emmett to investigate why and a decision can eventually made on whether to decrease, end or increase the funding...or do nothing.
One of the first assets Emmett decides to sell off is the San Fernando Regional Jetport. Although it allows Emmett the use of hangars and jetport facilities, his advisers warned him that it was "a black hole". The sale is mandatory early on in the game, but players can later come back and freely re-purchase it, should they wish to do so. In the game's lore, a 45-second "docuclip" reveals to players that an unnamed Star Wars movie was partly filmed on the grounds of the jetport.
Emmett's grandfather used to own a yacht, but he sold the 64m Ariadne to Rufus Van Hooten (an even wealthier and middle-aged billionaire who already owns another superyacht). Whilst Emmett can rent or purchase his own yacht, his advisers stress that owning a yacht outright is "dangerously expensive". Emmett would have to regularly pay the Captain and the crew and pay for the upkeep and maintenance of the yacht and the fuel costs and the bigger it is, the more expensive it is, so players are warned before buying a superyacht. Parties and X-rated events can also take place on the yacht which players van get involved in, but if it is rented, Emmett is liable to pay for any damage suffered or worse still, have his deposit and/collateral partially or completely confiscated. Although owning a superyacht seemed cool to Emmett at first, because he is in his twenties, he vocally considers owning a superyacht outright as "something for old rich men" and vocally says - during a cutscene - that he would "prefer to rent yachts and party and chill with friends".
