Hit and Run (Parking Lot, Several Cars) ... Driver Identified, Their Insurance Not

2024.06.04 20:14 NumerousPen1 Hit and Run (Parking Lot, Several Cars) ... Driver Identified, Their Insurance Not

Us: USAA, have only liability and uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage at this point on this vehicle (2011 Volvo XC60).
While volunteering at a food bank of all places, another volunteer (a teenager) apparently got a little accelerator happy while leaving the parking lot. Collided with at least two vehicles (one of which was ours). Decent amount of body damage to rear and side from impact with the adjacent car sliding into us - yeah, it must have been a lot of force! Teen driver left the scene in a panic. Food bank pulled up video footage, could tell which volunteer it was (but did not tell us at the time). We had to leave, car still driveable. File a police report and initiate a claim with USAA, under the premise that it was a hit and run.
Teen driver eventually returns to the food bank later in the day, is apologetic, and talks to my wife on the phone and gives his and his father's contact information. While saying that he hasn't told his father yet (who owns the vehicle), and that he will be in touch with their insurance information.
We give all of this to USAA, including the owner's contact information. Who just told us that - since we don't have liability, and they have not heard from the other driver or his insurance yet - we're basically on our own at this point.
Is there anything more that we should be doing? We're about 24 hours post accident. We have no idea if the kid is trying to hide this from his parents (maybe they're out of town or something?), or if the parents are dirt bags and trying to skate on this.

2024.06.04 20:12 djch1989 Tale of two cities

I have previously worked in Kolkata. I currently work in Pune.
One of the huge highlights for me since I started working in Pune is the sheer prosperity and availability of job opportunities here.
I belong to a different state but many times people mistake me to belong from Bengal knowing my mother tongue.
I've seen people in Pune who have studied through school to college and then, done their jobs in the city. Many among them have changed 4-5 companies, got promotions and risen quite high in hierarchy without changing city even once!
And here, I am - roamed around India for job, the same is true for many people in East, including Bengal.
Ideally, Kolkata should have been a city like Pune and it would have been, if not for the politics that kept it below its potential. A colleague asked me why Kolkata didn't allow Microsoft to set up office, why Didi didn't allow, he had worked in Microsoft Hyderabad office earlier.. after asking him the year, I corrected him saying that at that time, CPM was in power.
I saw someone in the group writing today "ar lage na capitalism".. Only Ambani and Adani will get rich. Rich will stay rich and get richer - that's a given, wealth creates wealth.
But what is it with the Bengali psyche that is so anti business? Thousands of people working in other cities, away from their home state - is this a better situation to be in? Irrespective of which party wins, why has job creation remained low on priority?
As people on this sub have said at other times, TMC came to power in Bengal by "out-lefting" the left.
I personally know people, due to my stint in Kolkata, where TMC has filed false cases against them for speaking up against TMC, highlighting a wrong doing and they had to either leave their place to save their lives. Some of them had actually voted for TMC in 2011! They couldn't imagine it would go this way later.
Yet, I see that nobody calls TMC fascist or anti democratic, I wonder why..
Maharashtra has just spoken with votes today and how! The difference I see here is that whichever party has been in power in Maharashtra, they have done something to create jobs and opportunities. I also saw recently how the Pune populace spoke up when the accident case came up and it put pressure on the authorities to take action. I can't remember Kolkata populace forcing state's ruling party (current or previous) to take action through public pressure - Please correct me if I'm wrong in having this perception.
West Bengal seems to be in dire need of a leader with a long term vision for the state, but it doesn't have any it seems.
If Kolkata had prospered in last 30 years, it would have been good for entire East, not just Bengal.
Rant over.

2024.06.04 18:21 IrinaSophia Saint Sophia of Ainos, Mother of Orphans and Assistant To Those In Need (June 4th)

Our Holy Mother was the daughter of pious and distinguished parents from the ancient province of Ainos. As a comely and well-educated maiden, her parents arranged her marriage when she came of age. With her lawful husband, Sophia gave birth to six children. Though she dwelt in the midst of secular concerns and commotion, she was not a lover of the cosmos seeking the external world. Her conduct of life revealed that daily concerns do not have to restrict one's desire to please the Lord. One may still fulfill the commandments and practice actions and virtues beloved of God. She never ceased gathering virtues like a bee from the divine meadows. The blessed woman was never absent from church services and her home was her sanctuary where she would keep nightly prayerful vigils.
At length, all her children and husband died when a plague struck. Conspicuous for her love, a resilient Sophia, combined ascetic and civic virtue. She became the mother of orphans and eagerly assisted widows. Her once empty home became a haven for the underprivileged and homeless whom she abundantly served. Within twenty year, she would adopt over one hundred children whom she would raise in the love and admonition of the Lord.
Preferring to give rather than receive, she distributed her abundance among the poor and needy. Her unstinted almsgiving was always done cheerfully and generously. The thrice-blessed one counted it more blessed to deprive herself than to let the poor leave her home empty-handed.
Her rigorous manner of life was ascetical. Tears always filled her eyes. The Psalms of David were ever on her lips, and she never left off or was negligent in saying her prayers. Her food consisted of dry bread and plain drinking water. In her measureless humility and modest spirit, she considered herself the least of all in worth.
On account of her God-pleasing life, Sophia was deemed worthy of the following paradoxical miracle. The holy woman, specially marked by the grace of hospitality, had a full jug of wine which she would serve to the poor. No matter how much wine Sophia poured out among the needy, the jug remained full. The venerable Sophia did not share this mystery with anyone. However, one day, she desired to proclaim this exceptional miracle of God, and disclosed the secret to her relative. Upon leaking the mystery of the ever-flowing wine jug, she found that it no longer remained full, but would diminish with use until it was empty. This consequence saddened Sophia with all her heart. She reasoned within herself that she was counted unworthy of God's gift. Nevertheless, an irrepressible Sophia did not sulk; instead, she devised new tests of endurance by increasing her ascetic labors. However, after mortifying the flesh by her strict discipline and regimen, she developed difficulties in breathing.
Tenacious and resourceful to the end, Sophia continued to strive amid her other responsibilities, never allowing earthly distractions to lead her off the path of virtue. Her years of austere and humanitarian labors for the Lord, extolled throughout the empire, numbered thirty-four. A year prior to her godly repose in the Lord, at the age of fifty-three, Sophia was tonsured a nun. Though our holy Mother Sophia left behind a memory that flourished among all those she helped, and it is inextinguishable among the choirs of the saints, it suffices to profit those who wish to learn by her example.

2024.06.04 18:05 pelican_girl Maybe it really WAS Whittaker

TL;DR - Whittaker got Leda pregnant on the assumption that he could kill both Leda and his grandfather, thereby gaining complete control of the money he assumed his grandfather would leave to his son, Switch.
I love inventing theories about how Leda really died. My favorites are that Lucy accidentally killed her with an overdose she was trying to inject into Whittaker's vein, or that Gillespie had her killed because she knew he'd taken credit (and royalties) for a song she'd written and left in Gillespie's care for Rokeby to record. I never ruled out the possibility that Strike was right all along, but it's only now occurred to me to consider just how much Jeff Whittaker's prospects had changed from the time he met Leda to the time she died.
When they met, Leda was working as a receptionist for a record company, "a minor, living piece of rock history employed as a kind of totem on the front desk." And Whittaker "had entered the squat under the clear impression that it was part of Leda’s style to dwell in impoverished bohemia, but that somewhere nearby was a vast pool of money into which Strike and Lucy’s fathers—Jonny Rokeby and Rick Fantoni respectively—were pouring money."
In rereading that section of CoE, I was startled to see how much I'd forgotten about Whittaker's attempts to get that money:
He increased the pressure, telling outrageous and easily disprovable lies: that he needed urgent medical treatment, that he was ten thousand pounds in debt to a man threatening to break his legs. Leda was alternately amused and upset.
“Darling, I haven’t got any dough,” she would say. “Really, darling, I haven’t, or I’d give you some, wouldn’t I?”
A man that desperate for money would have realized long before I just did that, by the time of Leda's death, Strike had aged out of Rokeby's obligation for child support and Lucy had long since been living permanently with Ted and Joan, a fact her father (who's apparently always been in contact with her), would know. In other words, Whittaker must have realized that if he'd ever had a shot at getting "money for nothing," that chance was now gone for good. (Whittaker would have known the 1985 Dire Straits song of that name, possibly even fashioning his life on its lyrics, which state that if you're a rock musician you "get your money for nothin' and your chicks for free.")
It now seems possible to me that Whittaker intentionally got Leda pregnant and married her as a last-ditch effort to get rich from his only remaining potential source of free money, his grandfather. He might have reasoned that, even if Sir Randolph would not leave his money to Whittaker or to Whittaker's mentally ill, drug-addicted mother, he might leave it to an innocent new generation (i.e., his son, Switch LaVey Bloom Whittaker), and that Whittaker could control the money and likely use it all up before the child ever came of age. Whittaker's wiki page (fraught with "citation needed" caveats) says Whittaker had assaulted that same grandfather. Maybe the assault was actually attempted murder, part of Whittaker's plan to kill off both Leda and Sir Randolph, leaving no one left to challenge his use of the money he assumed would go to his son.
Reasonable theory, or am I in tin-foil territory?

2024.06.04 16:39 FightingSioux77 2011 Sierra - Advice Welcome!

I purchased a 2011 Sierra last Thursday & there are a couple of things to fix:
Cruise doesn't work. Did some research and the brake light switch commonly fails on these trucks. Brake lights worked as intended. Grabbed a $30 brake light switch from O'Reilly, put it in last night and this morning when I was leaving for work, the brake lights were stuck on. Could the switch be bad? As I was driving to work, the traction control and stabilitrak light came on. Is this because of the defective brake light switch?
I'm also getting a weird whistling sound when the AC is on. It was extremely humid this morning and the vents were blowing some fog. Do you think both of these symptoms could be a result of low Freon in the ac system?
Let me know if you've encountered the same problems!

2024.06.04 15:29 PashaMoise Do you Remember this Naruto Fanfic called « Accidental Companion »

Hello my name is PashaMoise and I would like to tell you about a abandoned fanfic since November 2011.
Before addressing the subject, I would like to apologize in advance for this Reddit post will surely be poorly written in English...English is not my mother tongue 🥲
I'm going to give you a small summary of what "Accidental Companions" is!
This story contains 18 chapters but the author (Windschild8178 on fanfiction.net) had announced that were would be 20 chapters (this means that two chapters are missing) and that's not all!! He had also announced a sequel entitled "Healing Companion" that was surely to be released in July 2012.
This story is based on Naruto's POV and the story tells that Kakashi who has to go on an mission for several weeks will ask his three students to keep his Ninja Dog who where injured during another mission.
Naruto therefore takes care of Guruko who is a dog, at the beginning of the story did not want to stay with the "Boring Idiot" and will not want to talk to him. But as the story continues and Guruko, a witness to the hell of Naruto's life, will get attached to our little blonde.
This story shows is the foreground the complicated relationship that in team 7 This story is based after Tsunade's arrival as Hokage but before that Sasuke leave Konoha for Orochimaru
The cruelty and selfishness of Sasuke and Sakura towards Naruto is very well written as Naruto's fragility which is shown as the story progresses.
Of course the story has some flaws (I'm not going to specify here, but it's related to Kushina)
So why am I addressing the Naruto Fanfiction Community??? It's simple...I don't want this story to become a forgotten story!
And Even more important (at least for me) would be to find a person recongnized for writing good Naruto fanfic, to be able to continue this story...because it deserves to be finished after almost 13 years of waiting.
That's all for me! I thank these few people who read it to the end!!! 😄
Of course I put the fanfiction link for those who want to read it

2024.06.04 14:30 Old-Bat4194 The Fatal Mistake Okafor Made

One of his mistakes was thinking Thorne was an A when she was a C- at best, however, that is not the mistake I'm going to discuss in this post.
Lets get started.....
Even though Rick had completed six whole years in the city and as a consignee, he was still refusing to join the CRM as a soldier. By this time Thorne had already joined. Rick decided to join because Esteban mentioned during a conversation, that it would be far easier to escape because, the CRM soldiers go on supply runs. That was the only reason he joined, he spent years plotting his escape while training and learning to fly. Then came his chance, while out with Thorne on a supply run. He used the plans and the code for the drain given to him by Estaban, however it was foiled by a child and Thorne told him that he couldn't escape because Okafor knew things about him. That was Rick's 5th and final escape. Rick went to Okafor to find out just what he knew. It turns out that on his 3rd escape attempt when he was re-captured by Okafor,...Okafor had not only found Rick's letter to Michonne, but the items he had thrown onto the boat. Once, Rick knew it was futile to escape he gave up.
Six years after Rick blows up the bridge and is assumed dead by everyone except Michonne and Daryl. Michonne goes with Virgil to an island to get guns he said was on the island which was to help with their fight against Alpha and The Whisperers. It was during her search to get off the island after Virgil's betrayal, that she comes across the boat. That is when she finds the bag, also a log indicating that the boat had come from Bridgers Terminal. That is when Michonne radios Judith to let her know what she found, and Judith tells her to go look for Rick, because he might need help. It is while travelling North to Bridgers Terminal that Michonne comes across Aiden and Bailey. This is the point in which she leaves the main show, and the point in which we see her again on TOWL.
Michonne loses days catching up with Aiden's sister, who was moving in the opposite direction to where she wanted to go. She was given a horse and a uniform made by Nat to continue on her journey. Nat helped her to get through a 5 mile horde of walkers, with Aiden, Bailey, Nat and a small group who decided to come with them, they head North, but as they reach the outskirts of the hidden city, they are chlorine bombed by a CRM helicopter, everyone dies with the exception of Michonne and Nat who have to spend a year in a mall recovering from damage to the throat and lungs. Unfortunately, it caused them to reach Bridgers Terminal that much later, thus the decision to return to Alexandria also made that much later. However, because of that lost year it meant Michonne was now into the 3rd year of her journey when their paths crossed with the helicopter carrying Okafor and Rick. Which Nat shot down killing Okafor in the process. When Michonne lifts the helmet of the third soldier she is about to kill, she sees that it is Rick whom she had been search for for almost 3 years.
Okafor made a mistake and it was one that cost him his life..... Maybe he thought when he left those items on the boat, that Michonne would never find them or come in search of her husband. Even Rick looked surprised when she told him she had his boots, phones and her journal, when he asked what was in the cart. I suspect he thought Okafor had taken them like he did the message in the bottle. Had he taken those items Michonne would not have come looking for Rick, she would not have been chlorine bombed, but she did. And fate stepped in again because the chlorine gas, caused her to lose a whole year, which meant instead of returning to Alexandria much earlier, she was now destined to meet Rick instead. Okafor underestimated LOVE and he died because of it.

2024.06.04 14:24 SwashbucklinChef Sounds like you guys are just coming in for the paycheck!

TLDR; Don't wait for things to change. Know your worth.
This story is from around 2011. At the time I was in my mid 20s, a college drop out, dating someone who didn't care for me, and working as an assistant manager at a GameStop. It was a shitty job and I was only making $10.50 an hour with no commission. Every day there was enormous pressure to get preorders on upcoming titles and sell the company discount card. If you met your goals (I think it was 10% and 20%) you got a pat on the head. If you missed them, you got put on a nightly email that was sent to the whole district chastising you.
To sum it up, I was miserable with my life. Whenever I'd try to job hunt, other jobs either asked for some sort of college degree or were only offering about the same comp I was already making. I felt so trapped.
Eventually I hit my lowest point and something in me snapped. My girlfriend and I finally broke it up (and it was messy) so I was just an emotional heap. I head into work that day and the store manager is out so I had to sit in on the weekly conference call. The district had been struggling all quarter and the DM was just reaming us. At one point during the call he dropped that nugget from the title:
"Sounds like you guys are just coming in for the paycheck! If you don't start doing your jobs, I'll get people that will!"
Something about that made me snap. I started thinking about what that really meant.
GameStop was a "cool job" and we were constantly getting applicants from people thinking just how fun it would be to work at a game store. In theory, it should've been cool! You literally got paid to talk about video games all day long, something I would gladly do for free! ...but it was because of that cool factor that the company knew it could pay us the bare minimum and if we ever decided to walk, the line to replace us wrapped around the block, so there was no incentive for them to treat us well. I realized that this company would never value me and I would always feel hopeless in their employ. This company survived and thrived off of people like me. Young people with few prospects who didn't know that they should be treated better and could do better.
I had to do something. I couldn't just wait around for things in my life to improve by themself.
That night I went home and enrolled in classes at my local community college. I also put in 5 apps to other jobs with the vow that every day I would put in just a 5 apps a day. I would play the numbers game and see what came back.
The following day when I went back to work, I checked out. I clocked in and did the bare minimum of what was asked of me. I was friendly with customers, I made fun small talk about whatever games they were buying, but I didn't push any of the usual sales items. If I wasn't making commission, why should I bother? I didn't bother trying to push our minimum wage sales reps to get those preorders, instead if we weren't helping customers we just chatted about life.
I got put on the naughty list just about every night I worked but I didn't let it phase me. I think my new mentality must've really shown because the store manager kept asking me what was different. It was the happiest I'd felt at the job since I started, I was actually enjoying my work.
Within a month I had a new job offer for my first white collar, data entry job, and so put my two weeks in. I had just started classes at the local community college and for the first time in a long time, I felt optimistic about my life.
Almost 15 years have passed since that time. Since then I have earned several college degrees, married a wonderful person, have two wonderful kids, and picked up a job that doesn't make me feel dread in the pit of my stomach when I leave for work in the morning.
In short, don't put up with abuse. Even if you don't think you can do better, you owe it to yourself to at least try. Either look for other opportunities or find ways to better yourself and become a stronger candidate. When I went back to school the first time I was in my mid 20s, when I went back to school for my most recent degree, I was in my early 30s. Its never too late to better yourself.
Bonus Detail: The week after I put my notice in my store manager had either yet to tell our district manager I was leaving or I was so below their notice that they forgot. During this time my manager was fired for something unrelated. I had the opening shift the day she was canned and they fired her right as I came back from lunch. The DM and some guy from corporate were about to head out immediately after doing their messy work only to be caught dead in their tracks when I asked them, so who is going to run the store? I go home in a few hours, I'm already at 40 hours for the week (overtime was always a no-no), and after next week I don't work here anymore. Who is gonna run this place? Seeing the realization dawn on their face that they created a problem for themselves is a feeling of satisfaction that warms me to this day.

2024.06.04 14:13 masala-papad-mafia 27 [M4F] Mumbai - Ice cream and cuddles?

Eye contact, holding hands, cuddles, light touching, gentle kisses, non-gentle kisses, neck kisses, cheek kisses, forehead kisses, bites, prolonged hugs... I could go on. These are just some of the things that I've been craving for because it's been a while since I was last with someone, and if you're in the same boat, read on.
Before anyone suggests dating apps, I should have you know that they have messed with my head in the past so I'm really not resorting to them again.
In my head, this is how it goes. We go out for a quick ice cream or coffee date, and get familiarised with each other, and then take it from there depending on the vibes. But hey, I'm open to ideas.
About me, I'm your usual 27 year old small town guy who is often mistaken for a 22 year old. I was in Mumbai for a professional course, and will be leaving in a few days. I just lack a little romance in my otherwise perfect life right now. I'm kinda athletic and love playing lawn tennis, skipping rope, swimming and pushups. Cats usually seem to have a liking towards me. I can enjoy my own company pretty well, and absolutely love going on solo trips. A few other things I love are desserts, watches, my work, long drives, telling special people random things, good quality stationery, healthy flirting, cooking, wearing kurtas, The Office, Modern Family, Rick and Morty, and food, off the top of my head. I can appreciate tf out of a well made fudge brownie, and don’t even talk about rasmalai because that’s bound to get my mouth watering. Currently I have a few different playlists for different moods, but Spotify called me a ‘Hopeless Romantic’ in the last spotify wrapped, so make of it what you will. Apart from all this random stuff, I’d say I’m pretty cool to talk to. I’ve been told I can make people around me comfortable. Honestly this is just the tip of the iceberg and there's a lot more to explore.
So if you resonate with this post even the slightest bit, you should not shy away from sending me a text. I'd appreciate if your opening text is something purposeful rather than just a 'hi' or 'what's up'. And please be open to verify. Let's plan and make this real. Who knows what the universe has in bag for us? :)

2024.06.04 12:30 Obvious_Jacket_9985 Thinking of going to FIRREA agencies for better pay. Comments?

Had to change the title because it wasn’t specific enuf for the AI.
USPTO to FIRREA?
I’m currently an AD employee at the USPTO. On production, but the grind is exhausting. Management is passive-aggressive. But I’m remote with one day per pay period in the office. If I miss my production goals by a point, I get dinged (to the tune of several thousands of dollars) depending on the year and the COLA set by the POTUS. I’m so tired that I’m looking to join OCC or FDIC or SEC or the Federal Reserve. A dear friend is encouraging me to apply at FDIC for the much better pay and bennies (apparently), but I’m concerned about the toxic culture at FDIC. So I’m looking into the other FIRREA agencies too. And, I don’t like giving up the good telework, but I’m tired of the production culture at PTO. I work 6-7 days per week, 50-80 hours per week, and I often work late at night, especially during the second half of the fiscal year and in September. I “eat” a lot of credit hours and just take “time off.” Makes it hard if you get sick (even if you take sick leave) or to take a decent vacation. I might as well be at BIGLAW, but I do not want to return to that. Any insights on the FIRREA agencies now? I’m looking to make a long term career move. Thanks in advance.

2024.06.04 12:19 clarahugszombies Branson Perry: Bizarre Small Town Disappearance in Missouri

In the small town of Skidmore, Missouri, where the population is just around 300, the strange disappearance of 20 year old Branson Perry has haunted the community for years. His disappearance follows the high-profile murders of Wendy Gillenwater and Bobby Jo Stinnett, who had her baby cut from her womb. Eerily enough, Branson and Stinnett are related.
Born on Feb. 24, 1981, Branson Kayne Perry was raised in Missouri and graduated from Nodaway-Holt High School in 1999. After working as a roofer for some time, he lost his job and decided to help with a traveling petting zoo as he looked for another occupation.
Perry’s parents were divorced as of November of 2000, he lived with his father, Bob Perry, at 304 West Oak Street. Although Perry suffered from tachycardia, which made his heart race, he was quite active. He had a black belt in hapkido and enjoyed lifting weights.
On April 7, 2001, Branson Perry visited his neighbor Jason Biermann who allegedly gave him an unidentified drug.
Perry responded by stripping naked and dancing around Biermann’s home. He then shaved off his pubic hair and “participated in sexual activity” with Biermann.
Once Perry sobered up, he became humiliated. So, Perry explained the situation to his father — who was furious. Though he’d always suspected his son was gay, he was enraged at Biermann for drugging and using his son. He even considered “teaching him a lesson”. Although, no confrontation ever took place.
As Perry’s mother Rebecca “Becky” Klino reports on her website, the circumstances of her son’s disappearance remain rather unclear.
What is known for certain is that Perry and his friend Jena Crawford were cleaning the house before Perry’s father returned from a stay at the hospital. Meanwhile, two mechanics were outside replacing Bob Perry’s alternator.
Perry suddenly grabbed something from a cabinet and then went outside. Upon returning, he didn’t tell Crawford what it was that he grabbed or why he left.
Crawford took a shower after they finished cleaning, and then saw one of the mechanics rifling through a kitchen cabinet. When she asked what he was looking for, he told her that it was nothing and went back outside. Resting upstairs, Crawford looked outside the window at about 3 p.m.
She saw Perry leaving the house and called out to him, asking, “Branson, what are you doing?” Perry replied, “I’m going to put away the jumper cables, then run out for a bit. I’ll be back in a few minutes.” Despite several witnesses, Perry vanishes moments later.
On April 12, Branson’s grandmother, Jo Ann, stopped by to see Branson and found the home empty, all of the doors had been left open and the radio was still on. Over the next several days, she continuously called Branson but got no answer. She called Rebecca Klino, Branson's mother, and found out she had not talked to Branson either.
Bob was eventually discharged from the hospital several days later, and he and Rebecca filed a missing person report with the Nodaway County Sheriff's Office on April 17.
Not only was it uncharacteristic of him to be out of touch for so long, but all of his personal belongings were left behind. Foul play was immediately suspected.
Nodaway County Sheriff Ben Espey began searching for Perry by combing through a 15-mile perimeter of Skidmore. Authorities questioned the community, including Perry’s “drug acquaintances” — but they all passed lie detector tests. No one seemed to know what had happened to him.
But then finally in 2003, a new possible lead came about. Presbyterian minister and Boy Scouts leader by the name of Jack Wayne Rogers was arrested for unrelated crimes that had nothing to do with Perry.
After attempting to perform sex reassignment surgery on a trans woman and failing to stop the bleeding, Jack Wayne Rogers was charged with first-degree assault and practicing medicine without a license. But when authorities searched his belongings, they discovered evidence of even more disturbing crimes on his computer.
Not only did they find child pornography, they also came across highly sensitive online posts under usernames such as “BuggerButt.” These posts described the rape, torture, and murder of several men. In some cases, Rogers had even talked about cannibalizing severed genitals.
The most shocking post that was made by Jack Wayne Rogers, was about murdering a blonde hitchhiker and burying him in the Ozarks. When questioned about this, Jack Wayne Rogers claimed the post was completely fictional and denied ever meeting Perry.
But then police found a turtle claw necklace in Rogers’ car, which was an uncanny resemblance to one of Perry’s necklaces. However, none of this sufficed as hard evidence so Rogers was cleared as a suspect.
In 2004, Jack Wayne Rogers was convicted of illegal surgery, assault, child pornography and obscenity. He received a 17-year sentence for assault, seven years for illegal surgery, and 30 years for child pornography and obscenity. But it was never confirmed that he had anything to do with Perry’s disappearance.
Perry’s mother waited and waited for answers and information regarding her son — but she was eventually convinced that Rogers was innocent of abducting him. “In my heart, I don’t believe this suspect is responsible,” she said.
Authorities excavated a site in Quitman, Missouri after they got an anonymous tip that Perry’s remains might have been buried there. Unfortunately, nothing of note was found at the site.
Tragically, Perry’s father died in 2004, and his mother succumbed to melanoma in 2011. But in April of 2019, Nodaway County Sheriff Randy Strong said that authorities won’t give up on solving the case. They will keep searching for answers because justice and closure are needed for the rest of Perry’s family.
Before Perry’s mother died, she reserved an empty plot next to her grave for her son, even as authorities continued to search for him.
Over 20 years later, Perry’s close family is gone, but others are still demanding answers.

2024.06.04 08:01 brockdavis128 Lore dropping a character I've been playing as since SvR 2011

Lore dropping a character I've been playing as since SvR 2011
Eh so this might be a long one, but I'm loving the backstories of characters that some of you have even been using through multiple games so I wanted to share mine. Jackson is my main character and I've been using him since Smackdown vs Raw 2011
  1. Jackson Moore was the only member of his family to wrestle as his one older and two younger siblings didn't take an interest in wrestling. He moved to New Jersey from North Carolina where he would compete starting in the early 2000s for CZW. There he would compete against people such as Jon Moxley and Nic Gage. He would end up in a relationship with another competitor, Amy Tanaka who he'd have a daughter named Cassidy with. Their relationship was rocky and their shared substance abuse issues didn't help. This led to their split within a couple of years, but they both got clean for their daughter. Amy would step away from the ring permanently, but Jackson kept chasing his dream and was eventually signed to compete in Florida Championship Wrestling. He'd meet another competitor named Jace Garcia (a character created by my younger brother) and the two of them would debut together and win singles titles. Jackson would win the Intercontinental Championship from Cody Rhodes and Jace would win the US title off of Dolph Ziggler. After the dropped their singles titles they would gave a run with the tag titles, but Jackson would turn heel on Jace after they lost the titles. This would turn into a rivalry that would culminate at Wrestlemania 28 with Jackson picking up the win. The next year he would won Money in the Bank and cash in on Alberto Del Rio to win the World Heavyweight title. After dropping the title to John Cena he lost momentum and was eventually released in 2016. From this point he would get booked in promotions all around the US and have a run with both the GCW and CZW championship. From 2019 to late 2022 he would compete in AEW and straight up not have a good time, but still win a couple of titles. He would return the Raw after Wrestlemania 39 in a match against Dolph Ziggler in a winning effort. Now at 38 he's looking to win the World Heavyweight Title, but his shithead nephew keeps getting in the way. Their feud is looking to end at Clash at the Castle 2024. Little do they know they're both being stalked by someone who wants them to "Follow the ways of the red".
  2. Aiden Black (age 30) is Jackson's nephew. While Jackson was back in the indies, Aiden was making moves in NXT. After a lengthy run, he'd finally win the NXT Championship from Tommaso Ciampa. He is still the only member of the family to win a title in NXT. He would get called up shortly after Jackson returned, but get put on a different brand. When they both ended up on Raw in 2024, Aiden had already been heel for some time and started a feud with Jackson over Jackson refusing to take him under his wing the previous year while he was feuding with a former friend of his, Jesse Johansson. Now that him and Jesse are back on the same page, they're going to make sure Jackson gets "humbled". At Clash at the Castle him and his uncle will face off in a Hell in a Cell. If Aiden wins, Jackson has to leave WWE... again.
  3. Cassidy Moore (age 21) is Jackson's daughter and only child. With both of her parents being pro wrestlers naturally she wanted to get into it as well. She started training in Atlanta at the Nightmare Factory at the age of 16. She'd debut the following year on the indie circuit and tour around for another year before getting signed to NXT. She would get called up in 2023 with plans to join her father, Aiden, and Jesse Johansson in a faction, but she wouldn't be involved in any big capacity and the faction would implode after Jesse turned on Aiden after losing War Games against the Judgement Day, and Jackson didn't do anything about it. Now on Raw as of the 2024 Draft, she still has a lot to prove but has been picking up victories left and right. It's probably only a matter of time before her and her father both hold Raw's world titles.

2024.06.04 07:47 excelsiormpfour Thoughts on this car?

Thoughts on this car?
Saw this 2011 wrx on offerup and decided to check it out. It's very well taken care of from the interior. I drove it and it felt pretty good, gears shifted well, and engine sounded good. The seller agreed to leave it to me for $7,500. Some things that dissuade me though. First, it has a check engine light that allegedly goes away and comes back from time to time, the code it gives is p0418. According to the seller its just a relay that costs $13, if that was the case, however, he would've changed it himself right? Another thing is that it burns oil but apparently very slowly and that it is its nature due to being turbocharged. I really liked the car and spoke to my mechanic about it but he said that he really did not recommend it due to being on its 3rd owner, and the check engine light, specifically because we don't know exactly why its giving the code. Any thoughts?

2024.06.04 05:49 AnxietySociety__ How did the show affect you? In a positive or negative way. I would like to share my thoughts, as well as my experiences meeting the cast.

I watched this show while I was recovering from a MAJOR surgery and intrusive thoughts. I fell in love with the characters, the storylines of love and humanity in a time of hate and hopelessness (something I was struggling with during that time), the one liner laughs, the special bonds, Caryl (or Darol haha), Glenn and Maggie's constant fight for each other and love story, the visceral feelings, and so much more. I made three trips to three different cons in two cities and met so many of the cast members and they were such beautiful people. Not a single one let me down. I told them of my journey and they were all so gracious and thankful for my love of them and finding comfort in their work.
In case anyone is wondering who I chose to meet (and was still available) and took photos with and autographs, here's the list. I'm going to use character names as well in case someone only knows them by that. 😊
Michael Rooker (Merle) I didn't like his TWD character in the least bit haha, but I LOVED me some Yondu. His voice is just as cool in person as it is on TV haha.
There were a few others I wanted to meet, but there just wasn't enough time. If you read all the way through, I appreciate you and thank you for your time and interest in a show that genuinely brought me pure joy in one of the most difficult journeys in my life.
