I'm planning to go to Libya in a few weeks and want to obtain a driver's license there. I have a connection that can arrange for any age to be put on the license. I'm eager to start driving in Ontario as soon as possible since I've just earned enough money to buy the BMW I've been wanting. However, I'm worried about the consequences if I get pulled over and my information is looked up.
I called Service Ontario to explain my situation. I informed them that I have a year of driving experience, and they said they could issue me a G2 license if I have been driving here for longer than three months. My plan to protect myself is to have the license issued under my other last name, which isn't on my Canadian birth certificate or passport. For example, if my name is Jamal Jackson and my Libyan license says Jamal James, they won't be able to find me and determine my real age. Is this plan foolproof? Do you have any suggestions?
Additionally, I'm considering obtaining a Libyan license that states my real age and another one that states I'm a year older. My family and I stayed at an AirBNB for 8 days. On the morning of our last day there, we woke up to find that the car was stolen out of the drive way. I immediately reached out to the host to inform them of what happened. I explained that we called the cops and we were waiting for them to arrive to file a report. I asked the host if I could get a copy of any video recordings from the Skybell ring. To my surprise and frustration I learned that this was just a prop a didn't work. In this midst of dealing with our car being stolen, the host asked me to please make sure I was checked out before 3pm because the other guest would be checking in at that time. Very insensitive to what just happened on the property and me trying to figure things out.
I filed a complaint with AirBNB and requested my money back, especially since the car stolen was not my only issue (although it was the biggest one), and AirBNB gave the host 72 hours to respond to my request. Well of course, she denied refunding me any portion of my funds back. After speaking with some of the neighbors I learned that car theft happens on a weekly basis in this neighborhood. I informed the host of this and she claimed it never happens. Well, I went on the spotcrime website and plugged in the address for the street we were staying on which is Rogers Avenue in Atlanta... the report confirmed what the neighbor said. In the week that I stayed at the ABNB, four vehicles were stolen, not including mine.
I believe the host knew that this is a crime ridden area and that care thefts are high there. Unfortunately, AirBNB don't disclose the address so you can research prior to your stay.
Is there a chance that I can:
* Hold the host liable and file a claim against their home owners insurance (not sure how I could get this information)? Or,
* Hold Airbnb liable... I'm sure that has to be some insurance coverage on their end too.
* Get a property removed from the platform that is in a high crime area such as the one where my car got stolen.
Unfortunately, I did not have full coverage because I felt it was too high. But now in view of this scenario, the cost is higher because I can't file a claim with my insurance company for the theft.
In advice on what I could do here to minimize my having to cover the entire cost out of pocket for this incident... including having to buy a new car. Full disclosure the car is a 2019 Kia, which already has a high theft rate. However, we had no too long ago had Kia upgrade the system with the kill-switch. We filed the claim with Kia consumer because there's an existing class action lawsuit... but I still feel that AirBNB should bear some liability with this incident, especially due to hosting in such a bad area.

The board is a Monokei Hiro SE and the keycaps are CNC machined blank cherry profile chrome plated brass that were custom made for me. Tsangan bottom row (7u spacebar), stepped caps lock, scooped homing keys. The keycaps are chrome plated rather than pvd coated like the board is but they are a very close match in color with the board. We are having our wedding soon and are thinking of having a self-serve open bar. The venue is totally okay with it and we have alcohol insurance in addition to venue insurance, so it is definitely not a liability issue. I’m mostly just wondering if it would be okay for our guests. There will only be about 60 people and several (~20) don’t drink, so having a bartender just doesn’t really seem to fit the vibe and crowd. Has anyone been to a wedding with this and what was your experience?

2024.05.20 01:37 Tough-girl3290 Given SIS, 1 year probation, and a fine for after a minor accident with a ticket for failure to yield. What does this mean for me?
I was involved in a minor accident in January. I was given a ticket for failure to yield resulting in an accident. I'm located in Missouri. I received a letter and court documents from my attorney yesterday stating that the recommendation is acceptance of liability by insurance, SIS, 1 year bench probation with monitoring, court costs, and proof of restitution will amend the ticket to no point speeding. I have never been in trouble and have only had a couple tickets over 30 years ago for speeding (under 10 miles over the speed limit) My mind is spinning right now. How screwed am I? Im worried I'm going to b lose my job and/or my certification as a mammography tech. I had insurance so the damages to her car and medical bills will be taken care of. I got an attorney to protect myself. He never said SIS or probation was a possibility (and yes, I asked for worse case scenario) Probation seems excessive for a traffic accident in which there was only minor damage/injury especially since I don't have a record and have never been in trouble before. Anyone have a similar experience?

The length of the 0% for those offers seem to be anywhere from 12-18 months but have a 3-5% transfer fee.
- Try to get a personal loan. I'm getting offers for personal loans at 7% interest.
- Reduce my 401k contributions until I pay it off because that would free up a huge chunk of change. However, that would mean that I would only really be getting $13k more vs. $23k because of the increased tax liability.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Please let me know if I've missed anything in terms of numbers or other options to deal with this.

I work with the insurance companies that we are contracted with directly to provide metrics and help with standard issues, we work in excel to provide the data and I work along side multiple other teams in order to provide whatever the clients are asking for. I also work on marketing materials loosely with our design team. It’s kind of like being an ultimate middle man, chasing down rabbit holes and reports and getting in contact with all sorts of people.
I have been wanting to stay this course (I wfh salaried, I make good enough pay and I worked really hard to get to this point without education). The thing is I don’t know how much longer we’re going to be in operation or what the future here looks like. I love my job and I don’t want to leave, but I do want to start preparing for my next venture, just in case. I would ideally want to stay in the healthcare scene doing back-end ops. I like working with our clients and working with my team to come together with solutions, but I feel like my role is really specific to my company.
What should I do for a certification? Is there something else I should look into? I don’t want to go get a degree at this point. I have tried to research this a few times and it always seems like a scam or something. If I can find a reputable certification program, what kind of certs should I go after in order to stay in this area of work?

Here's what works, and what doesn't:
Connecting to ha.mydomain.com:8123 is not expected to work, but I included it for good measure.
Immediately afterward, I lost normal access to HA from my phone's Companion App. Instead, I get the Unable to connect to Home Assistant message then, eventually, the Settings/Refresh External URL/Wait prompt.
I restored a backup of Home Assistant 2024.5.3 (and others going back to 2024.3.3), but my phone still can't connect.

I have remote access using Cloudflare, Let's Encrypt, and my custom domain, set up by following the Secure Home Assistant Remote Access guide. This set up has been stable for over a year with no connection issues for either phone, local or remote.What changed?
I recently updated Home Assistant Core to 2024.5.4.Immediately afterward, I lost normal access to HA from my phone's Companion App. Instead, I get the Unable to connect to Home Assistant message then, eventually, the Settings/Refresh External URL/Wait prompt.
I restored a backup of Home Assistant 2024.5.3 (and others going back to 2024.3.3), but my phone still can't connect.
Attempted fixes
- Rebooted the phone
- Uninstalled and reinstalled the Companion App numerous times, in combination with clearing the app storage/cache data before and after
- Checked that time and date are correct on the problem phone
- Tried adding an Internal URL in the Companion App (https://ha.mydomain.com and https://ha.mydomain.com:8123); this is blank on the second phone, which works as expected
- Checked that the Let's Encrypt Root CAs (ISGR Root X1 and ISGR Root X2) are installed and active on the phone

After long wait, I already got email and text confirmation on 05/06 saying Thank you for your patience. We have determined that your unemployment insurance (UI) claim can now be paid. Shortly after you applied for UI benefits, we mailed you a determination letter with information about your weekly benefit rate. Same day a line item of saying $0 Type : Waiting week for week ending 04/07 appeared on the online portal. Claim start date is 04/01/2024. Release date is 05/06 for the Waiting Week ending 04/07. Since then not even a peep. I had also got determination letter via mail saying the amount I will be getting. Also, the online portal is showing the Release date. The UI seems to have been approved. Only problem is nothing seems to be happening since the Waiting Week Period.
After this message of approval I was hopeful of getting payments. But since then I did not get any more lines in the Payment History page in the online portal besides Waiting Week. I'm trying to call them but it has been impossible to get through. 'When did you guys receive first payment after getting that kind of message? Is there any way to see my certification history? Maybe because I did not certify for some week in the past by mistake because I did the filing via phone. Getting restless here. Also, not sure how backpay works. My claim start day is 04/01/2024.

Total cost of repairs is at 14k my vehicle was valued at 22k. They are replacing my current engine of 66k miles with a 47k miles used engine. What are some things to keep in mind after the replacement? how reliable would it be after a big job like this? Wondering if I should go ahead and try to get rid of it. Really love my car and all but cannot put my self in such a big liability of having more issues after it’ss repaired.
Any thoughts?

I panicked. Come to find out, it's not a big deal. Just relax and proceed to your flight as you normally would.
When traveling for work from NC to CA to TX to NC, I lost my license while out in CA. Must have unknowingly dropped it at some point. The moment I released it was way too late to go back to everywhere I had been the previous day. The only thing I cared about was how it would effect getting through TSA. I had no other 'legal' forms of ID like a passport, birth certificate, or social security card on me as I have never lost my ID in the 25+ years of having one.
I just went to the TSA check point and explained I had lost it. Fortunately I did have a credential from work with my name and picture on it, along with my health insurance card and a few bank cards. This satisfied the agents to let me get to bag screening. At this point they will remove just about everything from your bags and check through all of it. The whole process took less than 10 mins from walking up to the first agent to getting my belongings back.
I had to do this at both the CA and TX airports, both where similar experiences.
So all in all, don't stress about it too much if you loose it. I panicked at first and then came to learn it's not a big deal.
Hopefully this calms someone's nerves when you Google what to do if you loose your ID before a flight, as some of the info out there can be very overwhelming and somewhat misleading.
If you have time, go to the local police department in the area you lost it and they can do a simple police report stating you lost your ID. This will help in some cases from what one of the TSA agents explained to me.
Safe travels and pack a back up ID when traveling if possible.

The whole process took less than 10 mins from walking up to the first agent to getting my belongings back.
I had to do this at both the CA and TX airports, both where similar experiences.
So all in all, don't stress about it too much if you loose it. I panicked at first and then came to learn it's not a big deal.
Hopefully this calms someone's nerves when you Google what to do if you loose your ID before a flight, as some of the info out there can be very overwhelming and somewhat misleading.
If you have time, go to the local police department in the area you lost it and they can do a simple police report stating you lost your ID. This will help in some cases from what one of the TSA agents explained to me.
Safe travels and pack a back up ID when traveling if possible.

So I moved to California and still have my Washington ID. I lost it, and have looked everywhere for it.
So here’s where it gets even more complicated.
My birth certificate has a different last name, and I’ve lost my name change documents so that’s become utterly pointless as a method of ID. I have my SSN card, but that’s about all I have besides rental agreement, health insurance card, and a few other things (such as my car) in my name. I even have a PICTURE of my ID on my phone.
Will that suffice to get a new ID in a new state???
