🕵🏽 June 14th + 28th @ 7:00PM - A Dance With Death Murder Mystery Dinner Theater at Exchange Street Bistro. Tickets are $59, purchased on eventbrite, which gets you into the experience and dinner at the restaurant. Exchange Street Bistro has hired Murder Mystery Co to put on events through August, with the featured mystery changing each month, so if you like one, come back next month to try another.
🚧 June 15th @8:00PM - Multiplayer Museum at Idle Hands Brewery. This event's theme is "Construction Site", featuring some fun custom levels in Mario Maker and Mod Nation Racers. I always say this is my favorite event in the district, AND it's free, AND there's booze nearby!
🍻 June 23rd @ 1:00PM - Flagons and Dragons at Hugh O Neils. Tickets are $25 on eventbrite, and this is a one-shot DND roleplaying event hosted by DangerWizard. I'm really excited for this one, since Hugh O Neils has a really cool Tavern vibe! It's also a great event to try if you're just getting into the hobby.
🎴 June 29th @ 11:30 AM - Learn To Play Magic at New England Comics. This is an amazing FREE event put on by our dedicated local magic community! They have all pitched in to both teach how to play the game for newcomers, and distribute small decks that you can take home. See below for the signup link to this.
🕵️‍♀️ June 29th @ 5:00PM - Murder at the Malden Bank Mystery Pub Crawl. Tickets are $35 on eventbrite. You will visit four different barestaurant locations talk to live actors, and solve pen-and-paper puzzles. Apparently a very popular event the past years it has been put on, and it tends to sell out fast!

🧗‍♀️ Every Tuesday @ 6:30- Beta Besties meetup at Rock Spot. A simple climbing meetup for climbers of all experience levels. This event is free for members and is available to non members with purchase of a discounted day pass (about 15 bucks). Ask for the beta besties rate at the front desk.
🎲 June 12th @ 6:30- Tabletop Games at the Library! This is a free event; bring your own games to share, or pick from the malden public library's small collection. It's recommended that you bring/play shorter games, as the library closes at 8:30
🤹 Every Wednesday @ 6:00- Pokemon Go Raid Hour. FREE! If you are a Pokemon Go player, the weekly raids see great attendance, so you should definitely try to hop in on one! Meetup starts at Philadelphie Adventist church and follows the "Malden Pokemon Go Raid Hour" Route on the app. The night usually winds down at Honey Honey Dessert cafe for trades and such. This is a moving event, so if you miss the start time, be prepared to do a lot of running around the city! I had to learn that lesson the hard way, haha...
🎨 Every Saturday @ 11:30 AM- ArtBlock Artists + Writers Jam at Evviva Trattoria. This event is free! Every meetup, you receive a prompt and, for about an hour, either draw or write something using that prompt as inspiration. You can also bring WIPs to work on them or for group critique!
🧙 Every Saturday @ 1:30 - Magic the Gathering Drafts at New England Comics. (except this may 4th, because of free comic book day!) Entry is ~$21. Draft three packs of MTG cards, build a deck, and play three rounds. You get one pack for every round you win. Everyone leaves with a minimum of one prize pack!
🐉 Every Sunday @ 12:00 - Let It Roll One-Off Roleplaying Campaigns at New England Comics. New games and rulesets are tried every week, so this is a great place to be exposed to something different! This event is free, but you MUST RSVP via their discord for this event to get matched with a DM.
🧙‍♀️ Every Sunday @ 1: 00 - Magic the Gathering Commander at New England Comics. This is a free event, just bring your commander decks and play some rounds! And due to its popularity, it now happens every week instead of every other week. Yaaay!

Had been eyeing a $40 online purchase and got an email from an existing company I have business with that they were giving a free $50 gift card. It's legit, yes. I have it registered, and then I try to purchase from the webstore, and I get decline decline decline decline, decline. Turns out Visa's virtual card, or at least the one I was given, can't work if the merchant uses paypal. That's kind of dumb.
So now I am left with a card that seems useless? What can I even use it for? Is there any way to get it to a better service that will support paypal?

For almost 3 years since the sub's creation we've never really promoted PokeInvesting's Discord, there's just a pinned post at the top of the sub which we receive questions often if it's still even active. Free Box Breaks - There's always a free sign up for new sets for our box breaks, we try to go for Eng/Jpn split box break offer packs of both. Signing up is easy, just add your name on registration form and on the weekend every couple months we'll experience the new set live during our free box break. We've pulled Moonbreon, other alt arts, gold cards, etc.. Shipping is the only cost and we do ship worldwide.
Monitors & Deal Callouts - There are many game stores which we monitor for restocks and product releases, the bigger names which many of us are familiar with. We also track different deal callouts, covering the retail side's releases and drops. We feed this info the Discord to get a read on LGS and retail releases to stay ahead of the game.
Member Marketplace - We've always wanted to having a buying, selling and trading post on the sub but there's dedicated sub made already for this and it's a liability. We do have a member to member marketplace for buying/selling/trading on Discord which is much less of a liability then trying to coordinate a marketplace publicly, if you want to deal with PokeInvestors safely this is where to do-so!

We just launched our product and wanted to get some opinion on the site and product. Any and all feedback are welcom.

So what is it that we actually do?
Imagine a US based SaaS company, looking to onboard their first German customer. They'd need 1 solution to create subscription, another for payments and another to calculate and file sales tax compliance (assuming they have a VAT registration). This is a complicated scenario because payments are international and so are cards (super high charges) and VAT compliance slows things down.

Look, the game is in Birmingham in the playoffs because Detroit can’t host. So just try new things, play free and don’t get killed. What that doesn’t mean is put all your stuff on film, because you play a much more meaningful game next week.
That’s a very very very real thing btw for those who don’t know. On staffs I’ve been on, we typically had a guideline of “Call off the Dogs asap” and it was hammered in the coach meeting room. It meant jump on em quick, show no mercy early so by mid 2nd quarter we can just be as Vanilla as possible so our next few opponents don’t know the other cards we have.
Defenders:
So at first glance, this would look bias because I’m a DC fan. “Of course the DC fan wants them to end at .500.” And you’re correct, that’s part of it. But this also comes from a wider UFL fan that intimately knows the DC market. Atm, St. Louis is the best crowd. My hope is that what we saw in San Antonio this week just grows and grows.
That doesn’t mean that other markets can just go down. And I feel like Houston and Arlington both did this year. DC built up a good vibe last year but I think even they declined. They need to get back to .500 so there is a bit of juice. The Commanders have excellent vibes atm, so you need to ride the market hype.
Players on eliminated teams:
This is a very important game for everyone essentially playing in Game 0 of NFL preseason.
You need to put on tape a great effort. Who's hustling? Who’s flying to the ball? These NFL GM’s are going to meet with the coaches post OTA’s and minicamp but pre-training camp and go “ok, who’s here atm that just isn’t getting it and we got these UFL guys coming available, anyone ya’ll wanna see?”
I am myself going to be making a list of guys I think would fill gaps on the Commander roster.

About us:
The company is ClearPath LLC, a training and communications platform for casino employees. We are currently in about 10 casinos and looking to scale more this year. Currently based in California operating in California card rooms and looking to go nationwide soon.

I've been working making concepts and assets for games for two years now and recently finished a project where I did all the concepts and 2d assets, from main character to enemies, environments, UI, steam capsules and promotional art. I even did a bit of 2d animation, but its definitely not my strong skill. Sadly the project will be on NDA for a while, but i’m confident about my portfolio, so feel free to check it out.
Styles
I started working mostly with medieval dark fantasy, but i can go from a cute/confy to a more fantasy or realistic render and i’m extremely hyped with Hades 2 (me and everyone that played) and would love to do work on that visuality again ( i did a few tarot cards in the past inspired in hades 1 style) , but i’m also really into spaceships and robots! I recently made these steam capsules of a futuristic game but it was just a taste for me, I would love to do more.
Rates
when working as a freelance, i generally need to have a good understanding of the game so i can give prices for my services and then i present a few options with different prices and payment plans, but it's not a problem for me to change the plans if we discuss and adapt everything in an interesting way for both parts.
but i usually measure my work considering 18 usd/h as an hourly rate

1. What’s the best place to buy my anime figures from?
That’s going to depend a lot on what works for you, but most people around here buy them from Amiami, Big in Japan, Hobby Search, HobbyLink Japan, or Tokyo Otaku Mode. If none of those work for you for whatever reason, there’s a list of reputable retailers in the sidebar that you can check out at any time. Be extra careful when ordering figures from websites like Amazon or ebay, as there are a lot of bootlegs on those sites. Don’t be afraid to ask in our Bootleg Megathread if you’re unsure.
2. What differences are there between the shipping options I get from most Japanese shops?
Below is a rundown of the main shipping choices you’ll get at most retailers. Keep in mind that if an order is large enough you will be forced to use one of the more expensive options, as SAL shipments have lower size and weight restrictions.

• Unregistered SAL: Sometimes referred to as uSAL, is usually the cheapest method. It does not come with any tracking or insurance. Usually takes up 2-4 weeks for delivery.
• Registered SAL: Sometimes referred to as rSAL, is insured for the declared value up to 6,000 yen. It comes with a tracking number and usually takes 2-4 weeks for delivery.
• EMS: This method of shipping is much faster than either SAL options, usually arriving within a week of shipment. EMS shipments are insured for the declared value up to 2,000,000 yen.
• Airmail
• E-packet
• Surface: Shops don't offer this very often. It's an actual cargo ship and slow as a result.
  
• DHL: Becoming more available as an alternative to EMS on AmiAmi and other sites. Can be less expensive than EMS and of comparable speed, but may be more reliant on the specific geographical area being shipped to. The price is also determined by the size of the box. Offers their own tracking.
  

3. I placed two+ orders for figures at different times. Will my items be shipped together, or will I have to pay shipping twice?
Most shops will ask you to pay shipping on a per-order basis, but here are some that will allow combined shipping:

• Amiami: You can combine orders here, as long as the orders ship in the same month. It doesn’t matter if the item is new or preowned. Any preorders that are set for that month can also be combined with other orders for that month. However, be aware that if the preorder gets delayed, Amiami will remove that item from that month’s shipment and place it on a new order. To combine orders on Amiami, use the “Combine Orders” feature under “My Account”.
  
• Hobby Search: Hobby Search will let you combine orders that release in the same month, but you cannot combine in stock items with preorders. If you want to combine multiple preorders, or multiple in stock items, you can do so using the “Order Recombination” feature on your account page.
  
• HobbyLink Japan: At HLJ, you have the option to send paid orders to their “Private Warehouse”, where you can store them for up to 2 months. When you’re ready to ship the items, you simply select which items to ship and HLJ will combine them into one shipment for you. To use this, just select the “Private Warehouse” option as shipping when you order.

4. When will I get charged for my preorder?
Most Japanese shops charge you once the item is in stock and ready for shipment. When that happens, they will send you an email asking for payment. Some shops (mostly overseas ones), will allow you to pay for the item up front though, if you’d like. A few with that option are:

• Big in Japan (Japanese store)
• Tokyo Otaku Mode
• Anime Island
• Crunchyroll

Keep in mind that overseas stores will likely get the figure a few months after Japanese ones, so pay attention to the release date stated on the website you are buying from so as to avoid that confusion.
5. Should I expect to pay customs fees when importing figures?
That depends on where you live. Here’s a quick rundown:

• Australia: 10% GST is now assessed up front.
• Canada: Minimum declared value for charges is around CAD$20 for regular shipments, and CAD$60 for gifts (gifting something only seems to lower the declared value by about CAD$40, not deplete it completely). When using Amiami, try their Small Air Packet option. It comes with tracking, gets there in about the same time as EMS, and is better at avoiding customs.
• European Union: As of 1st July 2021, VAT has to be paid on all goods imported from outside of the EU. Retailers are supposed charge VAT for purchases under €150, however many Japanese retailers currently do not, so VAT will be charged when your order arrives in the EU. Orders that are >€150, VAT and duty will be charged by your local customs.
• UK: As of 1st January 2021, VAT is to be charged by retailers for orders <£135. However, customs isn't currently charging VAT on parcels valued at <£135, even if the VAT hasn't been paid. Goods >£135 will have their VAT and duty calculated and charged by customs.
• Mexico: Minimum declared value for customs fees is USD$300 for shipments by post, and USD$50 for shipments by courier.
• United States: A shipment has to have a declared value of USD$2,000 before customs starts hitting you with fees, so you most likely won’t have to worry about them at all.

6. The figure I want is an exclusive, how do I go about ordering one outside of Japan?
You have three options for this:
A. Big in Japan is known to stock exclusive figures and ship to other countries. Usually the price is higher because they build in their proxy fees, but it’s easier than worrying about using a forwarder or proxy service. If you live in the US, Crunchyroll, Right Stuf, and Tokyo Otaku Mode also get exclusives sometimes, but out of the states the shipping can get expensive.
B. Forwarding Services: A forwarder is someone who you ship an exclusive item to so that they can forward the package on to you, usually for a flat fee + shipping. When using a forwarder you still make the purchase yourself, and enter their address into the shipping field. When the box arrives at the forwarder they will then stick your address onto the package and send it on its way.
Some popular forwarders are:

Be sure to read each sites instructions on forwarding carefully!
C. Proxy Services: With a proxy, you tell them what the item you’re looking for is and they will purchase it in your stead. This is handy for when a company doesn’t accept foreign credit cards, or you’re having trouble navigating a Japanese website.
Some popular proxies are:

• Big in Japan (Won’t proxy for Yahoo Auctions)
• From Japan

Again, be sure you thoroughly read through each sites proxy instructions.
7. I see a bunch of really cheap figures that ship from China on ebay. Are those okay to buy?
Generally, no. They’re most likely bootlegs. If you want a second opinion on that, feel free to ask in the Bootleg Megathread that’s always stickied at the top of the sub.
8. What’s a bootleg, and how can I avoid buying them?
A bootleg is a counterfeit figure often made using rejected molds of the official product. They are usually priced significantly lower than the genuine article, and in order to make their profit, bootleggers use lower quality materials and have less attention to detail- resulting in a substandard figure.
The Bootleg Megathread that I mentioned in question 7 is a great tool to avoid buying any bootlegs. It has a few tips and tricks to avoiding them to begin with, and a few more on how to spot them if you’re worried you might already own one.
9. Does anyone know when figure X is going to be released? How do I know if it was delayed?
My Figure Collection (sometimes referred to as MFC) does an excellent job of staying on top of information like release dates and delays. If you’re curious about an upcoming figures release date, check there first. This information can be found directly under the “Releases” section on a figure’s entry. If you only see a month and a year in that section, it means the release date has not yet been announced by the manufacturer, and there is still a chance the figure could be delayed.
If you make an account on MFC you can also subscribe to comments, changes, and pictures via a checkbox on the right hand side of a figure’s listing. Subscribing to any of these things will allow MFC to send you an email anytime the subscription in question updates. Subscribing to “changes” is a great way to keep up with release dates and delays, among other things.
10. The figure I want is long sold out at normal retailers! What’s the best place to pick it up in the aftermarket?
A list of reputable retailers can be found under the “Shops” section of the /AnimeFigures sidebar. They all sell legitimate products, and many of them also sell figures second hand. However, the most frequently suggested second hand sites are Mandarake and Amiami- who has a preowned section that they update every night save Sundays and Japanese holidays around 1PM JST and again around 6PM JST.
AmiAmi grades their pre-owned items on a letter scale. The general consensus from buyers is that their ratings are conservative, so unless the item and/or packaging is specifically indicated as having significant flaws, pre-owned items from them are usually in at least as good a condition as their rating suggests.
Note: When you search Mandarake, you’ll get the best results by using the Japanese characters for whatever you are searching. If you don’t know them, you can find them on MFC by clicking on any of the “details” in that figure’s listing.
11. Amiami has a figure I’m interested in labeled as “For sale in Japan only”. Does this mean I can’t order it without a proxy or forwarder?
No, you can still order it. Amiami’s English site has that warning on many items, and it’s mostly meant to inform you that this product was made for a Japanese market, and as such, will have Japanese speaking/writing in it- so don’t expect any instructions to be in English. If Amiami doesn’t want foreigners buying a certain product, they won’t even list it on their English site.

Displaying Your Figures

12. What display cases do you recommend?
If you live near an Ikea try out one of these:

• Klingsbo
• Billy (Often used with Morliden doors (now the HÖGBO and glass shelves.)
• Detolf: Formerly the go-to choice for inexpensive display cabinetry, the Detolf was first made flimsier around 2020 and then essentially phased out of the name, to become the BLÅLIDEN. Knockoff versions of widely-varying quality are commonly found on other shopping sites these days, though.

*If you decided on a Detolf, you might find that there is a lot of wasted space. Here are a few tutorials on raising the shelves or and adding extra ones in.

• Using metal clips
• Using acrylic supports and PVC pipe

If you don’t live near an Ikea, Amazon has a few display options, though they are more expensive. Also keep an eye on your local Craigslist (or your country’s equivalent) and stores near you that are closing up.
13. What lighting do you guys recommend?
Ikea’s Dioder LED strips were discontinued after a long run. A current version is the Vattensten, if you're inclined to buy your case and lights at the same time.
LED strips have become very commonly available in recent years; most hardware and home furnishing stores carry a selection now. Just make sure that the lights don’t get too hot!
14. What are those clear plastic boxes that I see under everyone’s figures in their collection posts, and where can I get them?
Those are called risers. Most of us use standard acrylic risers like these. Some other, easy to find things that have been suggested are:

• Plastic picture cubes
• Card Deck Boxes
• If you’re feeling adventurous, try making your own!

Check your local hobby store for the first 2 options, or your local hardware store if you want to make your own.
Another common suggestion is to visit The Container Store if you have one near you. They have a lot of things to choose from that can suit a variety of needs. Be sure to check out their standard acrylic risers, their Amac boxes, and the various display cases they sell (baseball cases, mini car cases. hockey puck cases, etc).
15. Should I keep my figures sealed?
That is, of course, up to you really, but here are a few things to keep in mind when debating this question:

• Keeping it sealed can actually damage your figure. PVC figures usually have something called plasticizer in them, and that plasticizer needs to be able to breath. If a PVC figure isn’t exposed to oxygen, after a period of time the plasticizer starts to break down and form a sticky substance on the surface of the figure. Simply opening your figures and taking them out of the box prevents this from happening. If you happen to find plasticizer goo on one of your figures, Kahotan has a handy guide for dealing with it.
• Unlike some other figure markets, keeping an anime figure sealed won’t raise its value by a whole lot. In fact, because of the plasticizer problem mentioned above, your figure could actually be in better condition if you open it versus keeping it sealed.

Finding the Right Figure(s) for You

16. What are "scales" and "prizes"? What is the difference between them?
Those are classifications for figures based on a few factors.

• "Prizes" are generally more simply produced figures which are intended to be given as prizes for playing arcade games. They are inexpensive and lack the detail of scale figures, though some prize figure lines have standouts which may approach lower-end scales in quality. That is uncommon and often depends on the individual figure.
• "Scales" are called such because they are nominally designed to be proportional to the dimensions of the character which they are based on. They are generally of much better manufacture and materials than prize figures, allowing for more detail in painting, accessories, or complex poses.
• "Trading" figures appear in gashapon machines or as blind boxes on shop counters, often as sets which include multiple characters. As suggested by the class name, the randomness encourages trading. They are usually very inexpensively-produced, though as with prizes, some series are better than others.
• "Non-scale" encompasses a variety of other categories. It is often used to describe poseable figure lines such as figma and Nendoroids.

In recent years producers such as Good Smile Company attempted to further bridge the gap between prize quality and scales by introducing figure lines which are intended to be moderately-priced while retaining a higher level of detail than the typical prize figure, to varying levels of success.
17. There are so many figure companies! Who makes good figures?!
Obviously this is a very subjective question, but as a general starting point, here are a few well renowned figure companies:

• Alter
• Max Factory
• Good Smile Company
• Kotobukiya (usually hit or miss for people. Use your best judgement based off of the prototype)
• Flare
• Stronger

18. I really love “series X / character X”- how can I check if any figures were ever made for it?
My Figure Collection can be your best friend here. Simply do a search on the name of the series or character using the search bar located at the top right of the screen, and all associated figures pop up!
Alternatively, if you’re looking at a figure’s MFC entry, most of the text under the “Details” section can be clicked on and used to run a search.
19. How can I commission a custom figure?
None of the major figure companies (Alter, Kotobukiya, Good Smile Company, etc.) will take a commission for a single figure. This thread has a few websites in it that you can check out, or you can look into garage kits. Some kit painters would be willing to resculpt, frankenstein together, or otherwise modify kits for the right price.

Keeping Up with New Announcements

20. How can I keep up with figure news (announcements, updates, etc.)?
Most people use a MFC combined with any or all of the following news sites:

• Neko Magic
• Alter’s Blog (In Japanese)
• Kahotan’s Blog (Only GSC and their sister companies)

Many figure companies are active on Twitter, so following them there is recommended for quicker news.
To use MFC for this I’ll quote question #9.

21. Everyone’s excited about something called Wonfes….. what the heck is that?!
WonFes (short for Wonder Festival) is a biannual figure expo where many figure producers (both large and small) show off new sculpts and updates to figures already under way. Most companies save their most exciting announcements for WonFes, so we all look forward to the expo whenever it rolls around! Winter Wonder Festival is usually held in February, while Summer Wonder Festival is usually in July. The event has also spread to Shanghai, in the late spring.
22. One or two (or 15) figures were announced at WonFes that I’m really excited about! How can I keep track of their progress once the event is over?
MFC is always really quick about getting new WonFes announcements (or any others throughout the year, for that matter) listed in their database, so we suggest using that. To find a figure from the event you can search any number of things, including the name of the character or the name of the show. You can also use the tag search to search “WonderFestival 20xx_[season]” to see all items announced at that event.

Our civilization, like the Earth's climate, a complex system. Independent of the Earth's climate, ecosystems, and resources, our civilization carries its own tipping points, risks, and balanced systems. Our stable society has also passed several tipping points and is showing signs of unprecedented economic, social, and political stress. Consequently, although the first casualties of catastrophic climate change will be the least responsible for the destabilization of Earth’s climate, none of us will get through the next couple of decades unharmed. Once enough environmental and social systems fail our global, interdependent civilization will fall in on itself like a house of cards. What will emerge from this Collapse is anyone's guess, but whether it happens in your lifetime or in your kids' lifetime, the increasing probability of Collapse should concern you.
While citizens living in industrialized, democratic societies like the United States and the EU-27 are not threatened in the near-term from starvation, acute dehydration, or societal implosions like the poor nations are, they are extraordinarily vulnerable to social, economic, and political failure. Already, we are witnessing significant supply chain disruptions in computer chips, fertilizer, and other products critical to our civilization's stability. The things in our lives, the one that allow our civilization to operate as it does, have become incredibly complicated. The average car today has 30,000 parts, and there are 1.4 billion cars in the world, while the 26,000 airplanes around the world have about 6 million. Their supply chains are incredibly complex, and therefore incredibly fragile. Agricultural machinery, construction equipment, semiconductors, etc., every single industry has pursued a path of increasing specialization for decades now, making them extraordinarily vulnerable to supply chain disruptions that will only increase with time and climate destabilization.
As the years turn into decades, supply chain disruptions will grow longer and more frequent as the climate becomes increasingly unstable and global social cooperation breaks down. Consequently, the supply of goods will decrease and their cost will increase, in turn raising the probability of economic downturns and financial crises. While supply chain issues and economic crises seem very distant and abstract, the reality is that a lot of us basically live in a perpetual state of economic deficiency, at least in the USA.
In the wealthiest, most powerful society in the world, wages for the bottom 90% rose by 28.2% (see Table 1), while over that time period inflation was 256.5% in the 40 years from 1979 to 2020. That disconnect between rising costs and stagnant wages means that a third of US citizens, over 100 million people, have trouble covering every day costs. Two thirds of us live paycheck to paycheck and 45% of retiring baby boomers have absolutely nothing saved for retirement. In 2021 alone, housing prices went up by 19%, and the inflation adjusted housing index is already higher than it was in 2007. Our healthcare system is arguably the most predatory culprit, charging diabetics eight to ten times what other countries charge for insulin, a thousand bucks for an ambulance ride, and a hundred of thousand dollars for cancer treatments, while simultaneously working 35% of medical specialists to burnout levels of exhaustion. Our pharmaceutical industry engineered an opioid epidemic for profit, destroying millions of lives and killing hundreds of thousands. Our under-performing education system is disintegrating at the K-12 level as almost 40% of teachers are considering career changes, while at a collegiate level our education depends on teenagers taking out high-interest, undefaultable five- or six-figure loans. Corporations are raising prices and breaking profit records, increasing the suffering of struggling Americans, while wealth inequality has increased over the past 25 years. This economic pain, and the social unrest it inevitably creates, is the result of the decay in our political system.
The USA's political system has reached a critical point of decay. The Republican Party, one of the two political parties in the US, has largely given up on democratic ideals, baselessly, repeatedly pushing the Big Lie, suppressing voters, and inciting a violent attack on the Capitol to subvert the nation's most important election and the peaceful transition of power; and thus far, they have gotten away with everything. And the Democratic party is not much better, as along with Republicans, they routinely accept bribes from corporations, special interest groups, and billionaires, engage in insider trading, and gerrymander voting districts. Our de-facto political leaders in the USA are (1) 79 year old President Joe Biden, a man who has spent nearly half a century at the highest levels of legislative and executive power during the decline of our quality of life; (2) 82 year old Nancy Pelosi, a Congresswoman since 1987 and current Speaker of the House; & (3) 80 year old Mitch McConnell, a Senator since 1985 and the Senate Minority Leader. Expecting them to create the radical change we need is unreasonable. Our democracy is no longer democratic, and it will continue its descent into fascism unless there is radical change.
Even Barack Obama, the most socially and politically powerful leader of the past few decades, was unable to address the single most important topic of his Presidency: healthcare. Obamacare, his crowning accomplishment, was the political equivalent of putting a band-aid on a gunshot wound. Sure, it covers 20 million more Americans, but we still have the most expensive healthcare), the most expensive health insurance, and the worst health outcomes in the developed world. We had a historic President who had so much social capital that he literally won a Nobel Peace Prize just for getting elected and he had a supermajority in the Senate, but he was still unable to fix a single structural problem. Even the 75 year old, pathologically lying, emolument clause breaking, tax evading, justice obstructing, pandemic perpetuating, insurrection inciting enigmatic paradox that is Donald Trump was unable to create meaningful change. The irony of comparing the two previous Presidents is that they essentially ran on a platform of hope and change, and they both failed to deliver.
America's accelerating political failure has enormous consequences socially and economically speaking, creating a downward spiral for our civilization as a whole. Reagan got a lot wrong, but his slogan was spot on: government is the problem.
The incoming failure of the USA's social, economic, and political systems will result in a rapidly changing geopolitical landscape. The USA has enforced a global world order for 70 years, which has led to both the destruction of the planet and an exceptional period of relative peace and global prosperity. The presence of a thassolocratic superpower is a stabilizing anomaly in global geopolitics and international relations, enabling free trade and international prosperity. As that global order's foundational institution continues to decay, global human civilization will likely revert to its typically violent state of affairs, only this time with the added pressures of resource scarcity and climate change.
Most of us alive today know that something is fundamentally broken in our society, but we cannot pinpoint it or fix it; so we vote for individuals who claim they can fix the thing hurting us if we give them power. Systemic economic failure results in a loss of faith in leaders, institutions, and entire socioeconomic philosophies, and once that faith is gone, voters need someone or something to invest their hope in. As such, gilded nations like the USA, Russia, and others are vulnerable to fascism and dictators, which seem to be appearing globally, As aggregate suffering increases, and it will increase as prices and social conflicts increase, the appeal of fascism rises proportionally, because anger feels better than despair. Even if people disagree with most of what the leader says, they are so distraught that they will vote for the anyone that takes away the pain of despair. Our problems today are not caused by Jews, Nazis, illegal immigrants, or the illuminati, they are caused by regulatory capture, corruption, and deeply flawed political and socioeconomic systems.
We subconsciously choose to believe that the leaders, organizations, and structures that spent decades enabling the problems that are hurting us will fix them before they kill us; and we choose to maintain that irrational belief despite the overwhelming evidence contradicting it because the alternative to that belief is extraordinarily painful. The alternative to believing that our governments work is believing they do not work, and realize that is profoundly distressing. In order to protect us from the psychic pain caused by that realization, our subconscious triggers two defense mechanisms: denial and displacement. While these mechanisms protect us from experiencing severe despair, depression and distress, they also prevent us from recognizing and addressing the root cause of our suffering.
All social contracts between citizens and their government are basically the same: people trade obedience to their government for life. Our governments have broken that contract.

Title.
I wanted to change my account name/system username because when I got the computer I was a whole lot younger and set it to something stupid. There was no option in control panel to change account name so I went through netplwiz (WinKey + R > netplwiz). I had problems from there because it seemed like I accidentally messed something up to where there was no longer an administrator account after getting errors saying "No Mapping between account names and Security IDs was done" + search bar wouldn't work, start menu wouldn't open, settings wouldn't open, couldn't even open control panel.. I created a restore point before all of this, but with all of the system stuff out of order, I couldn't restore it.
Here's where I shit the bed: Started getting nervous, looked online for a solution and found a video with someone with the same or at least similar problem. Said to go into the registry editor into the Winlogon folder inside HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion from there I went to GPExtensions into a folder starting with {827D319E..........}, and the finally to ExtensionDebugLevel. The guy said to set the Value Data to 0 but mine was already at 0 and I looked around and found someone said to input 2 which got their things working again.
I restarted my computer and now it only boots to a black screen and cursor. Ctrl + alt + del, Ctrl + shift + esc...nothing. No shortcuts work, F keys might as well not be there. Believe me, in hindsight I know I should have tried to make a temporary user on the system just to get to the restore point and NOT listen to some guy on YouTube so carelessly. I am an idiot.
I'm terrified I just bricked my PC, but more realistically I think it's not booting correctly because it can't get to the sign-on screen because the Administrator is non-existent/there are no users for the PC to prompt to login for. I have no idea what to do from here and I desperately need my laptop for school and work. this is my last week to get school work in before grades close.
I will do anything to get this to boot up without having to go to geeksquad or my family's computer guy (who is not free) Any and all help or thoughts are immensely appreciated
