I applied for the NA position at a QT store that just recently opened, I got an interview got told everything went well that I will just be needing a drug test to be done which I got sent to do the next day after the interview, I got told that they will be calling me and/or sending me an email to know when to show up for orientation 1-2 weeks after they had received the results. It’s already been a month and I haven’t received a call or email, I called to ask for a status on my application and I just got told to please be patient with them that they are still processing all the applications/results that they are a bit slow with the processing of applications due to the store having a high traffic amount of people? Is it normal?

These are advices for visa requiring IMG’s.
  1. Started searching for programs in June
  2. Apply to atleast 150 to 250 program from a single speciality.
  3. Have a back up specialty if you have red flags
  4. Look into visa requirements early on, J1 vs H1B
  5. Have 2-3 areas as preference geographically.
  6. Search on residency exploreFreida and check the percentage of NON-US IMG’s, type of visa offered, if they offer visa or not.
  7. Then go to their website, check each one of their requirements for applying, be it minimum scores or number and type of LOR’s and USCE they need, only apply if you have everything on that list.
  8. Start with an excel sheet: program name and code, PD name and email, PC name and email, % of IMG’s and anything else you would like to note down.
  9. While applying in ERAS make sure you apply to correct track, same program can have multiple tracks like prelim/ transitional/ categorical/ rural/ primary care etc.
  10. Go to doximity and check their reviews, check on the website number of beds and size of the hospital, talk to your friends and know about the program.
  11. Check the previous match year’s Google sheets for the reviews on interview experience or any red flags in the program.
  12. Check if the program takes residents from the same country every year and I’m sorry to say if it’s not from your country then most likely they won’t take you. Check for trends they follow, for any red flags which are evident on the website.
  13. Signalling is whole another ball game.. Attend the online open houses conducted by a lot of programs to know more about them.
  14. Edit and edit that list till the day you are happy, don’t keep it aside for last minute because after all this hardwork you deserve to go to a good place.

Hello fellow witches!
I’m fairly new to the craft and I’m still learning but I need some spell guidance.
I’m in the job hunt and I had a really great interview with a potential employer. They liked my vibe and said they wanted to bring me on board. However, in the interview they mention that they’re in a transition period, so they wouldn’t be able to onboard me immediately (more like in 2-3 months). They promised to stay in contact and overall keep me in the loop.
Unfortunately, this happened at the beginning of April and it’s now mid-May. Over the past six weeks, I sent two separate follow up emails asking for updates. So far, it’s been nothing.
Is there a communication spell that can be applicable to this situation? Even if they tell me “thanks but we change our mind” I’ll accept if it means I receive closure.

What the hell is his problem? The insolence of it! The actual insolence! I smiled as I said I’m busy for fucks’ sake. I have a disgust response from the way he speaks as it plays back in my head. You ghat a problehm with blaq people? Flat vowels from the Global South. I could smell whatever ersatz cologne he’d doused himself in. Big, dumb bicycle chain wrapped around his neck. I could barely make out this heckler’s face, he was so overweight he was drowned in fat, and he threw his arms up in the air so his bony elbows came out at weird, jutting angles.
My mood is completely ruined so I turned right, catching the sun, cutting off a man walking a Chow dog who I presume follows after me.
My sunglasses are in my pocket and for whatever reason I lose the will to actually pull them out so I’m walking blind into glare. Was everyone still looking at me? The sun is beating down and on top of that the wind is blowing directly into my face. I can’t see anything and I feel prickly heat around my flanks. Maybe a tweed jacket was the wrong choice, but I’m not going to take it off and drape it over my shoulder right now. I do not want to be perceived.
I start thinking about the street venders from ten years ago, how friendly they all were. That’s not a thing anymore, I guess. I force all that from my mind and as I’m walking I involuntarily start thinking back to when I was little.
I was six, maybe seven, and my mother was in the hospital so I was being looked after by my father. It took him maybe three days to stop bothering to make sure I had a bath or brushed my teeth. Maybe a week before he stopped doing laundry. About three weeks in he was forced to start taking me to school again; somebody had mentioned something to my grandmother who came round to shout at him. She gave me a chocolate bar from her treat tin and let me go. My dad did actually pick me up that day. He asked me where I got the chocolate bar from and I said Miss. Euston gave it to me. I never ate it, at some point it must have been thrown away.
I realized Miss. Euston was, probably, barely a few years older than I was now. I wonder what she was up to. At some point the buildings covered the sun and I checked my watch. Two more hours to go.
I see a free table on a raised mount and decide to sit there. I look up at the statues looking down at me and a waiter comes over and says I have to order if I want to stay there. This annoys me so I bark at him that I need a menu if I want to order anything. He leaves and the clouds open again, probably by the wind, and it beats down on me again. Feeling more grounded I take off my jacket and drape it over my chair and take the cigarettes from the inside pocket. I looked at my phone and re-read the invitation email.

I check how far the walk is and it’s maybe 40 minutes, too far in this weather. Will it rain? Will I literally burn to a crisp? I wish I had brought my laptop so I could have the slide deck up. I could ask the waitress what she thought.
She comes back with my coffee and a cold glass of orange juice, and a jug of water.
Sorry, she says, my manager told me to only pour the juice.
That’s fine, I think I’m only 40 minutes away. Like three miles.
You won’t be able to walk three miles in forty minutes, she says. You should eat quickly, then get up and go.
I dunno, I say, drawing out my response. I’m quite tall.
She laughs again and says she’ll bring my cheque now.
I get up and make a plate of pastry, the meat looks like it had been left out so I avoided it. I grabbed some things I don’t know the name of, and a slice of bread that was being warmed on a terracotta platter over some coals.
She walks away and when she comes back I want to ask for her number, but there’s a huge delivery truck slowly rolling through. My cup is shaking in its’ saucer and if it wasn’t already mostly drunk it’d run over. I try to make conversation but I don’t want to shout at her so just give her 30 euro and say keep the tip. She shouts back thanks. I get up and start walking.
The sun won out against the rain and it started to pound me again. The air was dry. I was walking fast and making good time, but I did not want to end up sweaty when I got there so I took off my jacket and carried it under my arm. I checked my phone again and I had a missed call and a voice mail. I couldn’t see the name in the glare.
I couldn’t stop to put earphones in, so I put my phone away.
I managed to make it to the campus with five minutes to spare. I hullo’d with the professors and asked for a glass of water. I drank it in one then went to the bathroom to piss, and check my hair. I was sweating but my jacket would cover it. My hair looked great. I clenched my jaw and looked at my face. Intense. Satisfied, I blew my nose and in my head went over the topics I’d cover. If I got lost I’d ask the students questions.
For some reason I thought back to Miss. Euston, looking after the poor scapegrace that was me. I remember once she told me God was in the wind.

I finally move out and started my college at a new place and at a new state it was near to impossible because months ago I was financially struggling I had no motivation and felt like I can't get selected by any college because of my grades, My mom and dad didn't even had the money for me to study further and I kinda accepted it but something in me still wanted to try so I tried attracting my dream college which is one of the top buisness university in my country rn I felt anxious and scared and yeah... You guessed it right my online test for that particular University went great but I f-ked up in my university interview still after the interview I clammed myself somehow and forgot that it ever happened I listened to a random subliminal after that lol but somehow with low score and everything I got into that university
After everything I totally forgot about this top University and I prepared for other colleges and kept myself occupied with tests and work (and to my shock I got in all of them) fast forward to the next month I got my results which were very important for my university and bank loan, My exams went really bad because of family problems and I lost my motivation to study even knowing it was important still I couldn't focus but somehow without any prior studying or guidance I manage to pass in all my subject (which was still good cz I thought I'll fail) but I had failed in an additional subject which doesn't gets counted while calculating my overall percentage as it was additional so I was saved by an inch one thing I realised is I had put all my attention, thoughts, listening to subliminal and scripting while desiring my perfect grades but back of my mind it always hit me they my exams weren't good I had a 44 subliminals in my exam success playlist which idk is the reason that I got lesser than what I desired my marks to be. At the end everything worked out anyway and the bank nor the university stopped me due to my marks lol
Now here comes my another problem after receiving my offer letter I saw the fees and no way I could afford that but I always went to sleep thinking it happened and I'm in front of my dream university standing there admiring it and soon after a month a distinct relative of mine called my dad and told him he will fund my living expenses and everything I was over the moon to hear that (we aren't really close but that relative of mine still wanted to help to his own willingness) and after that I applied for a loan to cover my college fees and here you would need connections with the bank employees to get your process done fast or it would take upto a month to get approved (I had already emailed the university admission council to extend my fees deadline so I needed that money badly) but idk how an old friend of my mom got in contact with her and told us he could help me with that he had alot of connections in the bank which made the process fast. Also in my college process I just listened to one subliminal and that too I haven't consistently give it a thought or attention Maybe that's the reason why I got into that prestigious university.
I still don't exactly know what I did wrong while manifesting my exam desired marks a little guidance on this would be helpful for me to work on what really went bad from my side.
Currently I'm still in my hometown just waiting for my bank to approve my loan this week and then I'll be moving to my new appartment at a new place next month :)

I have gone through the faculty at my institution that are accepting students at the moment for their labs and I reached out to the ones that I’m interested in. Specifically, I’m really intrigued with this one professors work and would love to be a part of their lab. I emailed them about 3 weeks ago expressing my interest and they responded right away saying how they will be contacting interested students in the near future to schedule interviews. I haven’t heard anything since so two days ago I sent a follow up email to remind them of my interest only because I wasn’t too sure what “near future” means to them so I wanted to make sure my email wasn’t lost in the ton. I still haven’t heard back from them and I’m debating on whether I should go see them during their office hours to introduce myself personally. I can’t tell whether that would be appropriate or not so I’m looking for some other opinions.

Background: Schulich Grad who broke into Investment Banking (IB). No longer in the industry.
Goal: To set the narrative straight for incoming students.
Careers
Why Go to Schulich? vs Other Schools?
  1. Way cheaper than other schools ($40K Tuition, can go to 24-30K if you maintain entrance scholarship + has many other scholarships + OSAP grant)
  2. If you want/need to stay in Toronto. An underrated aspect of this is that you can do your networking in-person rather than over the phone/Zoom.
  3. Easier curriculum, unlike UofT/Rotman
  4. All doors are open, if you try hard enough. The school is very well regarded.
  5. Schedule is pretty light. It’s possible to do a 2-day lecture schedule.
  6. There is less competition at Schulich since it is a smaller program. (Relevant because you are often competition for "Schulich spots".)
Schulich Myths/Criticisms:
  1. Lack of “Uni Experience”: this is true. you will have a much better experience at a non-commuter school. However, if you join clubs, go to class, you will have a great time. Since it’s a smaller school, i find a real sense of camaraderie that persists in the alumni base, and subcultures in the clubs are strong.
  2. YorkU: this is also true, York is bad and unlike other business schools that are backed by solid schools (UofT, Western, etc.) there aren’t many opportunities outside the Schulich building.
  3. Schulich is hard: Myth. Schulich is easy.
  4. Schulich has a global reputation: I do not think this is true. If your goal is to go to the states, you are better off at Ivey/Western/McGill. Even Waterloo (esp STEM programs) and UofT are better recognized. Schulich is too small.
  5. No Co-Op. This is a tough one. This is the only reason I consider Laurier and Waterloo as good choices. They offer co-ops during the school year which are much less competitive and they really control the spots for these. Schulich’s career office doesn’t help with internships. But, these programs also take a year longer. If you fail to land your dream interview at Schulich, you always have the opportunity to delay graduation and do off-cycle internships. You will have to find them yourself though - that is difficult but 100% achievable. Some students have even done 1/2 co-ops during the school year without delaying graduation.
The bottom line:

Hey happy Sunday everyone . I am solo founder and raised a pre-seed 2 years ago . I am currently preparing material for fundraise . It is a lot of work and a bit overwhelming . My lead investors are helping a lot , reviewing materials and pitch deck. On average , we had meetings every 10 days in the last 3 months. Last week , I sent them both my techno-economic analysis and market analysis to review . When k talked to them , I was quite exhausted and did not make a good job at presenting my results. I blanked a couple of times at basic questions ( that day I was feverish so it did not help). The investors asked me to look for LOI before we fundraise for the next round which took me by surprise since prior that they were adamant there was no need . I reached out a lot of ppl and I have secured a couple of calls for the next 2 weeks with key industrial partners in my field . The investors emailed me today and suggested I apply for an accelerator programme whose deadline is in 10 days .
I appreciate all the help they have provided me but I feel like I have already a lot in my plate for the next weeks . My investors have not disclosed whether they would invest again and I haven’t asked them yet .
I feel exhausted and not doing well. I am upset at myself for not being able to provide decent materials to present . My runway is slimming down. At the same time my team is making huge progress , we have amazing results and the potential is exciting . Yet , nothing makes me feel happy , I am barely eating , isolate myself more and more and keep working for insane amount of hours
I am not sure what to reply to the investors. I do not know how to approach the whole situation with them .

Coming to my profile, EWS non eng male, graduation in 2024, 9/8/7 from t1 university, CAT 97.9. I decided to do an MBA around April 23, after dropping out from CA. My preparation started around late September, after my 4th sem exams and internship. Right from the beginning, I was fairly good in VARC ( thanks to my school) but had problems in qa due to me leaving maths in class 9 itself ( again thanks to my school). After spending huge amount of money in CA preparation, which I tanked, I was in no mood to spend much money on CAT. After thoroughly examining the syllabus, I prepared a strategy that best suited to me. Calculated all the CS from RTI data and knew I was out from A and B already ( A was my dream school after all). Had ups and down during whole journey but was scoring good in mocks towards end (I took IMS, Cracku and CL). In last 10 mocks, my average score was in 80s. Was pretty confident of going in north of 99~. The d day arrived, VARC as usual was great and tbh felt bit easier compared to CAT 22 panicked (slot 1), but then I panicked in DILR. Got my self together and solved 1 set in around 25 minutes. Then came QA, as per the plan, I attempted all the Arithmetic questions. Results were out and I speculated calls from LKI, Fms and manifested C. Then one random morning, L gave calls. Missed it with 0.7 CS. I was heart broken. And then started series of rejections until one fine evening Kozhikode invited me for the PI. I was overwhelmed. Started preparing for GDPI as this was my only T1 college call apart from M. ( only filled fms and M’ form apart from CAT, missed fms by 0.5 CS). My PI was average, you cannot decide whats gonna happen, most probably WL. In meantime, tanked S and M’ interview, aced CAP ( U& T converted) and LSM( was genuinely interested, PI went great but straight reject). After procrastinating April, finally the day was 8th May ( maybe my lucky day because back in 2019 my Class X results came on same day). Was sitting in a cafe with my girl when an email popped up which said, “Dear applicant, Results are out”. My heart pounded and I and her started checking the site. After around 5 minutes of continuous refreshing, it opened. I was hoping for a close waitlist and not a direct reject ( S already rejected me). But the first word read from C. Yes I made it, Congratulations on getting admit for class of 26. Booom. I was on seventh cloud. Called my mom, party started at home and everyone was delighted. Converted my best call in first list. (Also, admission criteria of K best suited me so I was fairly inclined towards Kampus.) Now waiting to join kampus on 12 (my endsem are ending on 11 :) ) All the folks having any doubt, can reach me out on DM. P.s. Welcome to Serial Sunday!

To those brand new to the feature and those returning from last week, welcome! Do you have a self-established universe you’ve been writing or planning to write in? Do you have an idea for a world that’s been itching to get out? This is the perfect place to explore that. Each week, I post a theme to inspire you, along with a related image and song. You have 500 - 1000 words to write your installment. You can jump in at any time; writing for previous weeks’ is not necessary in order to join. After you’ve posted, come back and provide feedback for at least 1 other writer on the thread. Please be sure to read the entire post for a full list of rules.

The world is watching, or are your characters watching the world go by? Maybe they are standing watch over something important or waiting for a person to arrive or an event to unfold. Watching a favorite show can bring joy but to be watched often causes feelings of unease within those who are under observation. Perhaps a student or child has learned something valuable from what they have witnessed, or has a traumatic scene thrown the world of your character into chaos? In the primal sense, does the predator wait patiently for their prey, whatever that may be? The very nature of humanity is expressed in this simple yet complex task with a duality of purpose and meaning. Blurb provided by u/JKHmattox.
These are just a few things to get you started. Remember, the theme should be present within the story in some way, but its interpretation is completely up to you. For the bonus words (not required), you may change the tense, but the base word should remain the same. Please remember to follow all sub and post rules.

Rules & How to Participate

Please read and follow all the rules listed below. This feature has requirements for participation!
  • Submit a story inspired by the weekly theme, written by you and set in your self-established universe that is 500 - 1000 words. No fanfics and no content created or altered by AI. (Use wordcounter.net to check your wordcount.) Stories should be posted as a top-level comment below. If you’re continuing an in-progress serial (not on Serial Sunday), please include links to your previous installments.
  • Your chapter must be submitted by Saturday at 9:00am EST. Late entries will be disqualified. All submissions should be given (at least) a basic editing pass before being posted!
  • Begin your post with the name of your serial between triangle brackets (e.g. ). When our bot is back up and running, this will allow it to recognize your serial and add each chapter to the SerSun catalog. Do not include anything in the brackets you don’t want in your title. (Please note: You must use this same title every week.)
  • Do not pre-write your serial. You’re welcome to do outlining and planning for your serial, but chapters should not be pre-written. All submissions should be written for this post, specifically.
  • Only one active serial per author at a time. This does not apply to serials written outside of Serial Sunday.
  • All Serial Sunday authors must leave feedback on at least one story on the thread each week. The feedback should be actionable and also include something the author has done well. When you include something the author should improve on, provide an example! You have until Saturday at 11:59pm EST to post your feedback. (Submitting late is not an exception to this rule.)
  • Missing your feedback requirement two or more consecutive weeks will disqualify you from rankings and Campfire readings the following week. If it becomes a habit, you may be asked to move your serial to the sub instead.
  • Serials must abide by subreddit content rules. You can view a full list of rules here. If you’re ever unsure if your story would cross the line, please modmail and ask!
 

Weekly Campfires & Voting:

  • On Saturdays at 1pm EST, I host a Serial Sunday Campfire in our Discord’s Voice Lounge. Join us to read your story aloud, hear others, and exchange feedback. We have a great time! You can even come to just listen, if that’s more your speed. Grab the “Serial Sunday” role on the Discord to get notified before it starts. You can sign up here
  • Nominations for your favorite stories can be submitted with this form. The form is open on Saturdays from 12:30pm to 11:59pm EST. You do not have to participate to make nominations!
  • Authors who complete their Serial Sunday serials with at least 12 installments, can host a SerialWorm in our Discord’s Voice Lounge, where you read aloud your finished and edited serials. Celebrate your accomplishment! Authors are eligible for this only if they have followed the weekly feedback requirement (and all other post rules). Visit us on the Discord for more information.  

Ranking System

Rankings are determined by the following point structure.
TASK POINTS ADDITIONAL NOTES
Use of weekly theme 75 pts Theme should be present, but the interpretation is up to you!
Including the bonus words 5 pts each (20 pts total) This is a bonus challenge, and not required!
Actionable Feedback 5 - 15 pts each (60 pt. max)* This includes thread and campfire critiques. (15 pt crits are those that go above & beyond.)
Nominations your story receives 10 - 60 pts 1st place - 60, 2nd place - 50, 3rd place - 40, 4th place - 30, 5th place - 20 / Regular Nominations - 10
Voting for others 15 pts You can now vote for up to 10 stories each week!
You are still required to leave at least 1 actionable feedback comment on the thread every week that you submit. This should include at least one specific thing the author has done well and one that could be improved. *Please remember that interacting with a story is not the same as providing feedback.** Low-effort crits will not receive credit.
