2024.06.01 12:02 Normodox A Slush Fund for Radical Protesters?

The profusion of identical green tents at this spring’s anti-Israel protests struck many as odd. “Why is everybody’s tent the same?,” asked New York mayor Eric Adams. Like others, the mayor suspected “a well-concerted organizing effort” driving the protests. More recent reporting shows a concerted push behind the Gaza protest movement. But it is not as simple as a single organization secretly rallying protesters or buying tents. Instead, the movement’s most determined activists represent a network of loosely linked far-left groups. Some are openly affiliated with well-known progressive nonprofits; others work in the shadows.
The movement also draws on diverse but generous sources of financial backing. Those funding streams may soon be augmented by the federal government. As I chronicled last year in a Manhattan Institute report, “The Big Squeeze: How Biden’s Environmental Justice Agenda Hurts the Economy and the Environment,” the administration’s massive program of environmental justice grants seems designed to prioritize the funding of highly ideological local groups. The Inflation Reduction Act, for example, earmarks $3 billion for “environmental and climate justice block grants” intended for local nonprofits. Today, hundreds of far-left political groups include language about environmental issues and “climate justice” in their mission statements. If just a fraction of planned grants flows to such groups, the effect will be a gusher of new funding for radical causes.
As the Gaza protests spread across U.S. college campuses, many observers noted an eerie uniformity among them. From one campus to the next, protesters operated in disciplined cadres, keeping their faces covered and using identical rote phrases as they refused to talk with reporters. The Atlantic noted the strangeness of seeing elite college students “chanting like automatons.” Students held up keffiyeh scarves or umbrellas to block the view of prying cameras and linked arms to halt the movements of outsiders. At Columbia University and elsewhere, protesters formed “liberated zones,” from which “Zionists” were excluded. Around the edges of the encampments, the more militaristic activists donned helmets and goggles and carried crude weapons, apparently eager to mix it up with police or counter-protesters. We’ve seen these tactics before—notably during the “mostly peaceful” Black Lives Matter protests of 2020, when full-time agitators helped ignite riots, set up a police-free (and violence-plagued) zone in Seattle, and laid nightly siege to Portland, Oregon’s federal courthouse.
In a remarkable work of reporting, Park MacDougald recently traced the tangled roots of organizations backing pro-jihad protests, both on and off campuses. These include Antifa and other networks of anonymous anarchists, along with “various communist and Marxist-Leninist groups, including the Maoist Revolutionary Communist Party, the Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL), and the International ANSWER coalition,” MacDougald writes. Higher up the food chain, we find groups openly supported by America’s growing class of super-rich tech execs or the anti-capitalist heirs of great fortunes. For example, retired tech mogul Neville Roy Singham, who is married to Code Pink founder Jodie Evans, funds The People’s Forum, a lavish Manhattan resource center for far-left groups. As the Columbia protests intensified, the center urged members to head uptown to “support our students.” Following the money trail of other protest groups, MacDougald finds connections to the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, the Ford Foundation, and—surprising no one—the George Soros-backed Tides Foundation.
Of course, the current wave of anti-Israel protests also involves alliances with pro-Hamas organizations such as Students for Justice in Palestine. Last November, Jonathan Schanzer of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies testified to the House Ways and Means Committee that SJP and similar groups have deep ties to global terrorist organizations, including Hamas.
For many keffiyeh-wearing protestors, however, a recently professed concern for Palestinians is just the latest in a long list of causes they believe justify taking over streets and college quads. In Unherd, Mary Harrington dubs this medley of political beliefs the “omnicause,” writing that “all contemporary radical causes seem somehow to have been absorbed into one.” Today’s leftist activists share an interlocking worldview that sees racism, income inequality, trans intolerance, climate change, alleged police violence, and Israeli-Palestinian conflicts all as products of capitalism and “colonialism.” Therefore, the stated rationale for any individual protest is a stand-in for the real battle: attacking Western society and its institutions.
In the U.S., this type of general-purpose uprising goes back at least to the riots at the 1999 meeting of the World Trade Organization in Seattle. In those protests, mainstream liberal factions—including labor unions and environmentalists—were joined by “black bloc” anarchists and other radicals eager to engage in “direct action” against police. That pattern—relatively moderate demonstrators providing a friendly envelope for hard-core disruptors—formed the template for many later protests: the Occupy Wall Street encampments in 2011, demonstrations following the police shooting of Michael Brown in 2014, 2016’s Standing Rock anti-pipeline movement, and of course, the calamitous summer of 2020.
These uprisings were not entirely spontaneous. In some cases, activists spend months planning mass actions—for example, against economic summits or political conventions—and can recruit street fighters from across the country. In others, an event, such as George Floyd’s death, sparks popular protests involving neophyte demonstrators. Those attract far-left activists, who swoop in to organize and expand the struggle, often tilting it toward more radical action.
That has certainly been the case at the college Gaza-paloozas. At Columbia, the New York Times spotted a woman old enough to be a student’s grandmother in the thick of the action as protesters barricaded that school’s Hamilton Hall. The woman was 63-year-old Lisa Fithian, a lifetime activist, who Portland’s alternative weekly Street Roots approvingly calls “a trainer of mass rebellion.” A counter-protester trying to block the pro-Hamas demonstrators told NBC News, “She was right in the middle of it, instructing them how to better set up the barriers.” Fithian told the Times she’d been invited to train students in protest safety and “general logistics.” She claims to have taken part in almost every major U.S. protest movement going back to the 1999 “Battle in Seattle.”
America’s radical network has plenty of Lisa Fithians, with the time and resources to travel the country educating newcomers about the “logistics” of disruptive protests. And these activists appear to have played key roles in the college occupations. The New York City Police Department says nearly half the demonstrators arrested on the Columbia and City University of New York (CUNY) campuses on April 30 were not affiliated with the schools. One hooded Hamilton Hall occupier—photographed scuffling with a Columbia custodian before getting arrested—turned out to be 40-year-old James Carlson, heir to a large advertising fortune. According to the New York Post, Carlson lives in a $2.3 million Park Slope townhouse and has a long rap sheet. For example, in 2005, he was arrested in San Francisco during the violent “West Coast Anti-Capitalist Mobilization and March Against the G8.” (Those charges were dropped.)
For a quarter-century now, Antifa and other anarchist networks have worked to refine tactics and share lessons following each major action. At Columbia, UCLA, and other schools, authorities found printouts of a “Do-It Yourself Occupation Guide” and similar documents. The young campus radicals are eager to learn from their more experienced elders. And, like the high-achieving students they are, they follow directions carefully. MacDougald asked Kyle Shideler, the director for homeland security and counterterrorism at the Center for Security Policy, about the mystery of the identical tents. There was no need for a central group to distribute hundreds of tents, Shideler said. Instead, “the organizers told [students] to buy a tent, and sent around a Google Doc with a link to that specific tent on Amazon. So they all went out and bought the same tent.”
In other words, America’s radical class has gotten very skilled at recruiting and instructing new activists—even from among the ranks of elite college students with a good deal to lose. How much more could this movement accomplish with hundreds of millions in federal dollars flooding activist groups around the country?
From its first week in office, the Biden administration has trumpeted its goal to funnel more environmental spending toward “disadvantaged communities that have been historically marginalized,” partly by issuing grants to grassroots organizations. Previous environmental justice (EJ) grant programs were small in scope. But, with the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) in August 2022, a huge pool of grant money became available. EPA administrator Michael Regan told reporters, “We’re going from tens of thousands of dollars to developing and designing a program that will distribute billions.”
More than a year and a half later, it remains hard to nail down just where the Biden administration’s billions in EJ grants will wind up. Money is being distributed through a confusing variety of programs, and the process of identifying recipients is ongoing. To help outsource the job of sifting through proposals, the EPA last year designated 11 institutions as “Environmental Justice Thriving Communities Grantmakers.” These groups are empowered to make subgrants directly to community organizations, under streamlined EPA oversight. In all, the Biden administration has entrusted these outfits with distributing a staggering $600 million in funding. The money is expected to start flowing this summer.
The EPA’s grantmakers include a number of educational institutions and left-leaning nonprofits. For example, the EPA chose Fordham University as its lead grantmaker in the New York region. Fordham, in turn, lists as partners two nonprofits that oppose immigration enforcement. (One, the New Jersey Alliance for Immigrant Justice, states on its website: “NJAIJ believes in the human right to migrate, regardless of citizenship or political status.”) Neither group claims expertise in environmental issues. Given that the IRA’s eligibility requirements for EJ grants are extremely vague, however, perhaps that’s not a problem. Almost any activity that could help “spur economic opportunity for disadvantaged communities” (in the words of Biden’s EJ executive order) might qualify.
Perhaps the most prominent—and problematic—EPA grantmaker is the Berkeley, California-based Climate Justice Alliance. The CJA is a consortium of mostly far-left activist groups. It describes its mission as working for “regenerative economic solutions and ecological justice—under a framework that challenges capitalism and both white supremacy and hetero-patriarchy.” The group is a vigorous proponent of the omnicause, embracing almost every left-wing concern as a manifestation of climate change. For example, the CJA website proclaims: “The path to climate justice travels through a free Palestine.” MacDougald notes that the Grassroots Global Justice Alliance, one of CJA’s affiliated groups, “organized an illegal anti-Israel protest in the Capitol Rotunda in December at which more than 50 activists were arrested.”
The CJA website also includes a section dedicated to the cause known as Stop Cop City. It refers to an effort to halt the construction of an 85-acre police and firefighter training center outside Atlanta. Rag-tag activists from around the country have gathered around the facility since 2021. They have repeatedly battled with police—sometimes with fireworks and Molotov cocktails—and used bolt cutters to enter the site and torch construction equipment. (CJA’s Stop Cop City page features a cartoon illustration of three childlike activists; one brandishes bolt cutters.) The group also backs a legal defense fund for activists arrested in attacks on the training center or in other protests. For those looking for more inspiration, CJA links to an interview with former Black Panther and self-described revolutionary Angela Davis.
The Alliance is not an ideological outlier in Biden’s EJ coalition. On the contrary, when the White House assembled its White House Environmental Justice Advisory Council (WHEJAC), a panel of outside experts meant to provide “horizon-expanding EJ advice and recommendations,” it chose CJA co-chair Elizabeth Yeampierre to help lead the committee. Like other members of the panel, she sees environmental issues through an ideological, not a scientific, lens. “Climate change is the result of a legacy of extraction, of colonialism, of slavery,” Yeampierre told Yale Environment 360. As a group, radical EJ activists tend not to focus on pragmatic ways to reduce pollution and carbon emissions; for them, the real goal is overturning what they see as an exploitative economic and political system. Since these are the voices the White House chose to help shape its EJ policies, we can assume this worldview will dominate grantmaking decisions.
In February 2023, House Oversight Committee chairman James Comer, along with fellow committee member Pat Fallon, wrote to EPA administrator Regan asking for more information on the EPA’s grant programs. They noted that the EPA’s own studies of EJ grants issued in previous years showed sloppy supervision. According to an EPA report, an earlier version of the program funded projects that did “not logically lead to the desired environmental and/or public health [result].” Without better oversight and more clearly defined goals, the congressmen wrote, the EPA’s EJ grant machine risks becoming simply a “slush fund for far-left organizations.”
Since then, the administration has done little to reassure skeptics. To the contrary, the EPA has put at least one far-left organization—CJA—in charge of distributing $50 million in grant money. No doubt, many of the EPA grants will go to worthwhile projects. But money is fungible. A group that gets a large grant to, say, clean up dirty parks or teach children about recycling will also be able to hire more staff and divert more resources to political action.
With graduation behind them, most of the anti-Israel college protesters have stowed away their keffiyehs and moved on to summer vacations or internships. But the peripatetic activists who helped guide and intensify those uprisings are doubtless already planning their next actions. After all, two political conventions are looming. This fall, the college protests will likely flare up again, though by then perhaps focused on a different facet of the omnicause. And, with hundreds of millions in fresh funding flowing through the activist ecosystem, the groups that quietly nurture extremists—like those who firebombed “Cop City,” or who chant “Intifada Revolution!,” or who block bridges in the name of “climate”—will be more emboldened than ever.

2024.06.01 09:48 catwrshipper I relapsed and everything hurts

Just wanted to post an update, I’m a bit embarrassed because I really thought I was locked in with the “all-in” method but the ed got me when I was in a vulnerable spot. It’s “comforting” to track my intake even though I hate doing it so much.
On the second day of my relapse, which was the day that I graduated, sucked ass. My sister got me Canes as a part of a surprise gift. It used to be my favorite food but it became a fear food due to the high calories. I forced myself to eat a little because I didn’t want her gift to go to waste, and my mom was pressuring me to eat it. Felt disgustingly full the whole ceremony, and it was COLD. I was having painful shivers the whole ceremony as it was outside and I was wearing a dress.
The cold made my limbs go numb. As I was leaving I was running in heeled shoes back to the car (my family was rushing me) and I fell quite hard on asphalt road. I am pretty underweight so all my limbs got bruised up, and I have deep open wounds on my knee and dominant hand. I also got burnt on most of my limbs from my clothes rubbing against my skin when I fell.
Since ana slows down healing I’ve had these open wounds for three days and it hurts whenever I move because I just reopen the slowly forming scabs. I’m having my graduation party soon so I’ve been cleaning the house for it to avoid my mom being pissed at me. The pain is unbearable at some points as I have to lean on the bruises and wounds to clean properly but I keep pushing myself. I feel so weak and I’ve been eating less as I can’t workout in this condition.
And to add on to the pain, a day before the graduation I had gotten a vaccine that made me sick and gave me a sore arm (that has just now gotten tolerable on the pain scale). I also got 5 vials of blood drawn for tests which made me faint for a few days.
I also had a celebration dinner yesterday at a Chinese restaurant. I had gotten the calorie counts mixed up and I thought the calories listed were for a full serving but it was for a half serving, so I accidentally ate probably 4 full servings of dishes. I made the mistake of weighing myself, thinking I properly maintained but I gained a pound. Of course this made me restrict even more as I am already having a bad relapse.
I also saw a post on TikTok where literal children were asking for tips on how to purge and lose weight to EXTREMELY dangerous weights. Like- they were idolizing this stuff, it made me extremely upset and disgusted. I wish I hadn’t seen it but it’s so hard to avoid that stuff now even when casually scrolling for some reason. It made me feel unmotivated with getting back into recovery.
I’m struggling so bad, so any words of encouragement to get me back on track would be appreciated. Sorry for the yap session I just feel stuck.
I hope everything heals up quicker so I can stop limping and wobbling everywhere. It would be embarrassing to look like a corpse in front of my family when my party comes up in two days.

2024.06.01 08:53 Jaded_Bowler7761 UC davis vs UCSD

I just got off the waitlist for UCSD and am struggling to choose between UCD and UCSD, both are really good for bio, and I think are pretty equal in that sense. I attached my pro/con list but it's not very good. Please help me decide or add to my pro/con list! Thanks.
Uc davis pros -close to home -awesome science program -cheaper housing for apartments -I have connections kinda! -norm and wonderful -slightly less competitive I think
Uc Davis cons -close to home (but this is honestly a pro) -campus is not as gorgeous as UCSD -no beach -weather is not as good -slightly less opportunity bc less research facilities and hospitals
UCSD pros -sibling goes here -fire food -Beach -campus is wonderful and cutie -Beach -really good bio program rlly good for medicine! -good weather i think -better dorms -I have connections!
UCSD Cons -far -slightly more competitive for bio

2024.06.01 05:16 Extension_Nerve_8233 On the verge. TW: Relapsing.

I’ve posted here before, but delete.
(35, non-binary). I had severe anorexia as teen. Recovered. Dealt with BED all through 20s. BED morphed into bulimia into my 30s. My teeth have seen better days b/c of bulimia. Got scared straight after reading bulimia posts on Reddit. 3 months ago roughly, I downloaded MFP, bought a food scale, and decided to aim for balance. So exhausted from disordered eating. All I wanted was balance and to be leaner.
I could tell AN brain was getting triggered. It’s been so long since I’ve been underweight, though. I rationalized I was probably okay and simply being in a deficit recalled some hard memories. Deep down, I knew I was doing a little too well with loosing weight.
I’ve stayed within recommended daily caloric intake. Hit all my macros and micros. Objectively feel better without the constant BED noise. Weight melted off.
Now, I’m at the lowest recommended weight for my height. Something has happened. My GW went down again. I should be thrilled I can wear some of my older clothes again, because I’m within a lower-healthy weight and feel good physically. Reality is I have no plans to go out of deficit. I am so dissatisfied with the mirror. Thinking about eating maintenance makes me anxious and angry. I’m getting secretive with my eating patterns and lie to family about what I eat. My brain chemistry (?) feels more like teenage me than ever. I feel I lost good things about my personality when I recovered and that I’m finally back. (I know this ED talking.)
Is anyone else experiencing this slow-moving train wreck?? Knowing where relapse is going. Not wanting/able to stop and also, fuck. I’m scared. I’ve had a ton of back surgery. I’m horrified or weakening my bones further. I’m proud of my weight loss and new goals? I like the attention because more people notice me. I feel attractive when I get noticed and also hate my body as is? I haven’t had the confidence to date in half a decade and now, I think about it again as a possibility. This is all ED brain? I know. It’s an abusive relationship with food. I know it’s not me or real, but Ana. I’m scared of the damage and obsessed with the new me. I’m scared. Who else has felt this before relapse?

2024.06.01 04:58 Illustrious_Push_462 Right food for Akita?

Right food for Akita?
I just got a new American Akita and trying to figure out a good food for him, the People we got him from fed theirs Purina pro plan but with the formula change and illness coming from it I don’t want to risk it. We have a 2 yr old GSD that we feed Orijen six fish because she has allergy to grains and other ingredients in foods plus it has what she needs for her coat health and it has been perfect for her but I understand their diets are not the same, I heard somewhere Orijen is too much protein for an Akita, so I was thinking of giving him Taste of the wild or Diamond naturals, would these be a good food for him or even Acana since it has less protein? if not what foods would work better, could Orijen still possibly be a good pick?

A Alcina BLOQUEOU a mulher.

Kamen Rider Gotchard E5&6 Producer Blog Summary

Burn! Fight! Wrestler G!

Air Date: October 1, 2023
Screenplay: Keiichi Hasegawa
Director: Katsuya Watanabe
  • Nowadays, you don't really see dramas that run for a year, other than the Kamen Rider and Super Sentai series. So, it's the responsibility of the production stuff to use tricks to keep the viewers entertained every week. And so, the individuality of each episode is mainly created by the director. For Episodes 1 and 2, director Tasaki was responsible for building the setting and setting up the story. Director Yamaguchi for episodes 3 and 4 was responsible for showing the charm of the characters and furthering the direction of the show. What Watanabe was responsible for in episodes 5 and 6 was expanding the scope of the show.
Reject Chemies, embrace guns.
  • The Asahi Pro Wrestling Gym T-shirt was designed by Sakura Kobayashi from the Art Department. Actually, it was originally meant to be worn only by Asahi and Houtarou, but the staff found that design so cute that they ultimately had Rinne and the others who were watching Houtarou's training also wear it.
  • Asahi G (Asahi possessed by Wrestler G) was played by suit actor Yasuhiro Takeuchi (Kamen Rider Zolda in Ryuki, Kamen Rider Zeronos in Den-O, Kamen Rider Ryugen in Gaim).
  • Both the Asahi G and the Sunshine Mask (Asahi's wrestling alias) masks were handmade by Yasuhiro Onojima from the Character Management Department. Director Watanabe wanted for Sunshine Mask to have a bright, sun-like appearance so Onojima took inspiration from the masks of the real-life professional wrestlers El Solar and Místico. Asahi G's mask is a fusion of Sunshine Mask and Wrestler G's masks.
  • The Wrestler G doll was produced by assistant director Junpei Shiokawa. He took a totally different doll and modified it, painting the mask and the pants.

Super A-Class ☆ Twisted Star

Air Date: October 8, 2023
Screenplay: Keiichi Hasegawa
Director: Katsuya Watanabe
  • Gotchard's planning team is relatively young. Just so you know, before the scriptwriter writes the script for the episode, there are script meetings where many people decide together of the kind of story they want for each episode. Turns out a huge percentage of the people who take part in those meetings for Gotchard are in their 20s and 30s.
  • Kamen Rider Gotchard has a food coordinator, whose job is to take care of the dishes cooked in the show, including creating Houtarou's weird dishes. But the director also gives his input. For example, Houtarou's Smiley Meaty Omurice in episode 4 was initially called Special Natto Omelet, Sicilian-Style in the early stages of the script. But director Yamaguchi changed the name to make it feel more like a name that Houtarou would have come up with.
  • The production team was worried about making Spanner's omurice purple ("even though Spanner is a man of virtues, would he go that far?"), but director Watanabe declared with assurance that "it’s Spanner, it HAS to be purple, right guys?!?!", and just like that, they went ahead and made this impactful purple omurice.
What a nice smile! Surely he must be the cheerful big brother of the group!
  • Yasunari Fujibayashi, who plays Spanner Kurogane, is a bright and cheerful Kansai guy, born in Kyoto and raised in Hawaii. The total opposite of his character.
  • Spanner's bike is a black Honda Rebel 1100.

My tracking streak is at 1 year as of today! Really proud of myself. And it's working. I've lost 32 kg / 70 pounds! Still have 20 kg more to get to goal, though. But now I'm feeling much more confident that I can do it.

2024.06.01 01:46 davtexsk Issues with plant growth in tank with cichlids

Hi everyone,
let me start with statement that I fully realize that cichlids and plants do not really go together, but I strongly believe that such combination can work under right circumstances as I had good results for some time.
Some 3 years ago I switched to 450L (120g) tank from a smaller one. I used Tetra CompleteSubstrate as base for nutrients (2cm) and natural gravel (4cm) on top. I have pretty hard hard water on tap with PH about 7.7 that I take down to about 7.0 with CO2 injection with automatic PH controller, which should be about the right middle ground for both fish and plants. I do 40% water change once a week and I know my CO2 levels are not very stable as KH/DH starts to drop pretty quickly, meaning CO2 level probably drops as I near next water change. I run Chihiros WRGB light with 140W, which should be enough even for most demanding plants. I only have plants that are known to survive cichlids, such as Vallisnerias, Cryptocorines etc. I run light at full power for about 9h per day. CO2 injection starts 1h before lights starts, cuts off 1h before light shuts down. Filtration is double with Fluval FX-4 and Eheim Pro 4, cleaned quarterly. I never used any kind of fertilizer. Water temperature is at about 25C. I feed my fish quite a lot. I hope that's it for details.
Now for the problem. My tank looked exactly like I wanted it to look for about 2 years (first photo, please ignore some fish from older tank). Valisnerias were going crazy and I had to trim there every week. Plant growth was quicker than cichlid's destruction and I was very happy with how the tank looked. I could even get some red-ish plants to grow succesfully. Some cichlids were even reproducing and I had to sell/give away fish every 2 months or so.
Come 3rd year, plant growth slowed down and second picture shows how tank looks like now. Anubias is going strong (as always), but everything but Valisnerias has died off. As plants started to die off, I started to have issues with black algae (which I always had, but under control) and Valisnerias are barely keeping alive. I had to lower light power and duration, limit CO2, just to limit algae growth. No matter what I tried with CO2/light had any positive effect on plants/algae.
I am now pretty sure that plants used up all nutrients from bottom substrate after 2 years as I was not using any kind of liquid fertilizer. I am now using Seachem Flourish (for 2 months) to add all nutrients except Nitrogen and Phosphorus, which as I understand are not needed as they should be provided by Fish or remnants of fish food. But to be honest I was being quite conservative with dosage and I just found out that dosage should be 5x normal with water changes that I do. On top of that neither gravel or Tetra CompleteSubstrate claim to be able to "catch" nutrients.
I am now moving to new location and have the ability to redo the tank. I am planning to use Seachem Flourite as base, which claims to be able to "catch" nutrients from water. I am also planning to use Seachem Flourish fertilizer since the beggining to avoid substrate getting used up after some time.
I have two questions:
  1. Is it possible that I have Nitrogen/Phosphate deficiencies in my setup (with all the fish) and that I need to add these in some other way (Nitrogen test comes up basically negative)?
  2. Do you see anything else that could be causing my plant growth issue?
Any suggestions are welcome, but please, I am very well aware that easiest solution would be to dump the plants and go without them, but I had a blast for 2 years and would like to experience that again.

2024.06.01 01:36 edperson I have nothing

I had a relatively good life up until... 10 months ago give or take. I met a girl in 2019 and got engaged to her pretty quickly. We were together 4 years before we got married. Then the year we got married, we took a road trip to my hometown in another state for my class reunion. I met up with old friends, saw my old family home, and... it made me realize how much of a failure I was... my friends had their own homes, kids, good jobs. I was making just above minimum wage. My family home was more or less condemned because my uncle, who stole the land from me through court bullshit, let it go to ruin. And I got depressed. My wife would beg me to talk to her about my problems but when I did, she would get scared and I would say to her "this is why I don't tell you what's going on. I scare you when I let you know my problems." Then she asks me to get therapy and i start but right afterwards, she says that she's resenting me, she's falling out of love with me, and doesn't want to be married anymore. This is less than 3 months after marriage... she sent me a video called something like"how to prevent your spouse from cheating." I thought she was accusing me... now I know the reality is it was a fucking admission. She grew colder and colder as I grew more and more depressed. I would ask for a kiss and get told no. I would ask for a hug and get told no. Kinks and habits we used to always do became "weird." Then I found out on Easter Sunday this year... she had been flirting with another guy online. It never grew physical but it was still cheating nonetheless. I immediately ask her parents if they knew and they were just as surprised. Her mom confronted her and she denied it all despite the fact I had screenshots of the conversations between him and her, along with her friends supporting this. She went to try and commit that night butt didn't. I just wanted to know why she would do that. Hurt me like that. Then I cried in bed that night, holding her and begging for us to work on things... then the next day passed and everything was fine... but day 3 is when shit hit the fan. She told me that I would need to handle food for the entire house for the week. I said okay and she asked why I was being shifty and I said "maybe it has something to do with finding out your wife is messaging other men." And not only did she admit it, she blamed me, saying I never supported her, never listened to her problems. I went to work so she could sit her ass in front of a screen and stream. Make videos. Chase being a pro gamer. And yet I never supported her. So I left the house, called a friend, packed up all my shit I could and immediately went back to my hometown. The divorce papers soon followed. Ironically not too long after our first marriage anniversary... now I have a shit backbreaking job that only pays 12 an hour, I'm homeless basically, having to stay with a friend, I'm alone, and everyone tells me they believe I can better my life but it's all bullshit. I have nothing to my name. I fully pray to whatever deity listens that I gain the courage to fully commit to ending my own life. Im tired.

2024.06.01 00:53 ThrowRA1199000 need your thougths in upgrading my phone

Hi! I am currently using an iphone 11 (64gb) that I bought last 2020. It is still fine aside from it’s battery health which is currently at 71% but I don’t really notice it affecting my phone’s performance naman, and the storage is not enough na for me even if I avail the icloud monthly subscription kasi mahilig ako magvideo na naka 4k haha.
Anyway, I recently got promoted for the 2nd time since I got this phone and I was thinking of finally rewarding myself a new one and just give this phone to my mom. But the problem is, I am not techy at all. I watch reviews on youtube but I still don’t get the technical specifications they’re talking about. I usually just use my phone for taking videos of my food and cats, notes, nood ng kdrama, and instagram/messaging lang naman.
If you can give me advice which one is the most practical between an iphone 13, 14, and 15 (including the plus, pro, pro max versions) I would highly appreciate it 🫶🏼 Or should I just keep this phone and buy an ipad air instead? Parang ang saya kasi manood on a bigger screen din haha
will buy it in cash din pala like before so let me know if may tips kayo kung pano makadiscount hehe thank you!!

2024.06.01 00:44 thumpsky If my story about non-stop stimulation doesn't get you to stop, nothing will: Met up with an old friend for food, and of course he was using his phone (with one ear bud in, listening to EDM he told me). As I was coming back from the bathroom, I noticed he was watching hardcore porn in a public place

He was twitching like a damn drug user, constantly laughing at memes and also apologizing for being "distracted", despite him being the one to invite me out for food.
At one point I got up to go to the bathroom and coming back to our booth with his back to me I can see he's watching some pornographic "cumpilation" of lesbian women scissoring. I stood there for about a minute, and I made a sound hoping to startle him but instead he turned around and told me to check out "the babes" with a thumbs up.
I'm not gonna claim to be a sexual puritan here, but we were in a public place (a restaurant) and of course this guy's life is a complete mess. He's got three kids that he cannot take care of (he literally wants his ex-wifes boyfriend to take over) and he's living in a roach infested shithole.
He will call me periodically to talk about a pro wrestling documentary he just watched or something politically outrageous he read about on a forum.
