2024.02.18 13:23 SilverPantz Why does scamming to seem to be a common theme in fingerboarding rant !
Iāve been buying a lot of fingerboard decks and completes lately . Iād say out of the 12 purchases Iāve been scammed 5 times now and when I say scammed I mean sent items that werenāt described or a completely different item . It seems not to be just me either anybody I talk with says to be very careful when purchasing from others itās a recurring theme . Also anybody purchasing from Timber Creek Fingerboards just know each complete you order if you have an issue with it and you more than likely will. The seller will just stop communicating. Every complete Iāve ordered his truck baseplates are stripped I tried to return the first one on mercari and it was denied also sent him messages on every platform and no reply, so I got stuck with it ( atleast the deck is decent ). He must not know how to screw them in properly. Then bought a complete with abstracts from them for $40 plus ship and tax ( for being a repeat customer ) and he sent me a pair of wheels he made with so many dents and little flat spots . No deck no complete then when I filed a return he tried to say usps must have switched the item he sent me a complete deck with abstracts it was the only thing he sent out that day. This is laughable and then he just started just getting disrespectful and not taking responsibility. Iām only ordering from reputable sites now lesson learned . Even though my favorite board at the moment is a blank I got from eBay ( I have tried FlatFace G15 , Chems, Berlinwood , Goo, DK, Dynamic TCF) . Just ranting and want to hear what others have been through in there fingerboard buying experiences.

I just got back into fingerboarding and ordered a DK popsicle 35mm complete. But the wheels and trucks feel ācheapā (?) but I love them! Still, Iād like to upgrade the trucks and wheels. But I have 0 knowledge of wheels or trucks, since everything about fingerboarding is evolved.. last time I fingerboarded the most popular names were CloseUp, FlatFace and Berlinwood. So I would say I am kinda ānewā to this and would really appreciate your help! :)
What would you recommend? :)

 | Just got back into it after 11 years and it seems not many people ride berlinwoods/blackrivers anymore? Back then it was the shit and the pillar of fingerboards i feel like, everyone had a blackriver complete. Still have my 29mm board, wheels are fucked and riptape is not rippin anymore so to speak. Looking to get a new and went straight to the blackriver site, 33.3 with 32mm trucks standard shape. But i keep seeing all these other brands, dk, gooltd, cowply, catfishbbq, flint, five luck, wush, chems etc. How to these compare? Is the berlinwood outdated? I want to get the best and see what 11 years of development is like. Also in terms of wheels and trucks, many seem to prefer dynamics for example. Want a board thats easy to ride, not doing any crazy tricks, new flatface g16 seems to be a good board but idk. Anyway awesome to be back in it, sorry for the ranting. So i havent even thought about anything fingerboard related since maybe 2013 but in the last few days ive seen it pop up on youtube so it had me thinking...I have lots of fingerboards and obstacles somewhere in my dads basement and I remember buying a few Berlinwood decks and what not from 2012-13 and i think i might own a pretty rare, old/forgotten deck, I am gonna try to look for it tomorrow.
UPDATE!had to dig for a bit but i found em, i remember my mom or grandmother buying this for me in this swedish store back when i was 11-12 or something as a birthday gift or something probably so it mustve been around 2011-12. They are in worse shape than i remember LOL but it's the blue one w the yellow text on the far right. its a Swedish skate store iirc and i guess they had a collab with berlinwood or something but i cant find anything about it besides this facebook post they made about it from back in the day so i was just checking if its some old rare collab everyone forgot about or something. pretty sure the beat up green one is a flatface deck and it got some blackriver trucks and wheels im pretty sure.
And i also found all of these obstacles down there as well. any idea on if stuff like this is worth selling and if so where? it's just been laying in my dads basement for about a decade now so i dont know what to do with them lol (sorry if they are dusty, they have been laying there for quite some time lmao)
So i have a few questions:
are old decks worth anything these days or is it just garbage?
do people collect rare/old stuff by any chance?

I cant find deck that i would 'love'. There are many decks i ride and that are quite cool, but nothing special and nothing that i would feel is 'mine'. I live in small country in Europe, no fingerboard events, no fb shops to check and try things. I simply have to buy fb stuff and figure out myself, which is kinda expensive and useless as there is stuff that i dont like after trying.
Professionals and people with quite some experience and knowledge of decks, i need your help. My perfect deck would be 34mm x 97mm with decently wide nose and tail.
By 'decently wide nose and tail' i mean not the dynamics deck tail. Dynamic deck is nice, mellow medium, but the pointy tail is stupid. Would like just a regular popsicle with similar nose and tale in terms of width. But not the cowply deck, where tail is for some reasons feels smallesmaller space for middle finger. And not the berlinwood as they are 33,3 and 34mm trucks with some fat wheels look not cool.
G15 decks feel great, but they are too long for me. Completely not my thing. Probably have small fingers >:) But G15 97mm would be great. As i understand they are somewhere around 100, dont remember right now. December decks look similar, but they have no information of sizes

I sold all my old fingerboard stuff like 5-6 years ago and got the urge to do it again after seeing the $3 tech decks when buying my kiddos some hot wheels. Iām getting back into it and pleasantly surprised by the tech deck in terms of still being able to do all the same tricks I used to but because I have money spending problems Iām looking to get a nice setup again.
I tried a lot of decks back in the day but most of those companies arenāt the popular ones now or arenāt around. My favorites setup before was a g15 on china trucks and teak bushings, for some reason I was most consistent with that setup and most people around that time also felt g15s were the easiest decks to use. Just curious if any other G15 lovers found something they liked in some of the offerings I never tried before like dynamic or DK. I also never tried classics like berlinwood or yellowwood which are still around. Had a catfish and cow ply back before and was just never consistent on them.

So I know they are two different entities. Personally I love the berlinwood fingerboards, but do not like the feel of a blackriver fingerboard. The quality feels cheapā¦ is this just me? I asked my girlfriend who doesnāt fingerboard hey which one seems of quality she picked the fingerboard and said the blackriver, candy pug deck, felt like a tech deck.
Cool graphic but overrated, is this just me?
