Hi everyone!
My name is Tymedust and I'm a game developer focusing on visual novels with interactive elements (my name's URL goes to my games on itch.io if anyone wants to check them out).
This July I'm entering a short-form Jam (basically an event where you develop games during set time and content restrictions) with heavy limitations, and I'm interested in creating something with a creepier vibe than my earlier projects, being a life-long fan of horror.
With that in mind I was hoping I could throw this out there in order to get input from fellow horror gamers, and perhaps get some discussions going on how to create something effective within the set limits of this event.
First off, the limitations:
Other than that, it's relatively free-form what you can do. You can play around with visual effects (zooms, slowdowns, camera panning, etc) and as long as you don't add more content to the above list, it's allowed. In order words, there's a lot of room for creativity within the constraints.
Second off, what I have so far to work with (I can't show any actual assets since you aren't allowed to start working on them until the Jam starts proper, so this is all in the pre-planning stage):
So that's basically the concept; a writer and her words. The mood is dark and atmospheric, and I'm definitely feeling an influence from horror poetry (at one time I considered making the game poetry-only, but I'm not sure if that will catch a modern player in the same way... though it's not entirely off the table).
This is where I welcome any and all ideas. What should happen, what should her writing be about, what kind of effects should be used within the constraints of the Jam to create atmosphere, mood and horror?
It should be noted that I do already have several potential ideas, but I feel like I'm missing something, like the final piece of the puzzle to make this go from "cool" to "damn cool", so to speak.
I'm very thankful for any input, and should I utilize any ideas mentioned here in the final product, I'll of course provide proper credit. :) I also welcome examples for short horror games that you'd recommend me to check out which might be influential within this setting.

2024.06.01 13:15 Crazy_Lemon_8471 ART Gatsby vs. PMP Gatsby

I just came back from a mini trip to the east coast, mainly to see ART Gatsby. I saw it on Sunday which ended up being the first preview, so that was extra special. Did a few days in NY as well and had only enough slots to see 2 shows on Broadway. One of those I chose to see PMP Gatsby, because I love the novel and wanted to see all the iterations of Gatsby.
The tone of the two Gatsbys is fundamentally different. PMP focuses more on flashiness, while ART focuses on the nitty gritty. I loved the set for PMP and wouldn't have minded them getting a Tony nom for set design. I also loved the ART set but for different reasons. It's a lot more "industrial" looking but I think it suits the show very well. I'll also note that a couple of the set pieces hadn't been put in yet, so I'm sure when they're added they'll enhance it more.
The score for ART is leaps and bounds ahead of PMP. I'm a Florence fan but not a super fan, and I could clearly tell her touches throughout. It's very moving and I found a lot of depth in the storytelling through song. A couple of the songs in Act 1 fell a little flat for me but I loved all of Act 2.
The PMP score is catchy, but the lyrics are something else - My Green Light is in my opinion, one of the worst written musical theater songs in recent times.
Now yes, I know there's the argument that not everything has to follow the book completely and it's called an adaptation, which I agree with - but when you're creating a musical called the Great Gatsby, I think it's fair to expect the show to have some attempt at uncovering the the themes of the Great Gatsby.
I thought the performances in both shows were pretty strong, with good vocals. Noah J Ricketts was the standout for me at PMP, and Solea Pfeiffer and Charlotte MacInnes were the standouts at ART. Overall, I preferred the Isaac Powell/Charlotte MacInnes duo over the Jeremy Jordan/Eva Noblezada duo. I know Jeremy and Eva are Broadway darlings, and I enjoyed the performances, but there was just no depth and very little substance. The score and book are very much a Spark notes version of Gatsby. Also Jeremy's accent was a little off putting - I'm not sure what exactly he was trying to go for here.
I got a rush ticket for $40 for PMP so I'm happy with the amount I paid, but I regret wasting one of my slots on this as I had limited time in the city. I'm 99% sure all the audience acclaim is only because of the leads - if it were other random actors, this show would not be making money. I do think it's a good "razzle dazzle" Broadway show. If it wasn't called Gatsby and was marketed as just a romantic musical, I would've been more forgiving. It's a shame the creative team didn't spend more time working out the kinks in the show before transferring.
ART isn't perfect by any means, but it's got very solid bones (especially considering I saw the first preview, so I'm sure they'll be adapting and changing things as necessary). It isn't afraid to explore the themes of the book, and attempts to provide powerful lessons.
The tagline for ART is "An American Myth", while it seems the tagline for PMP is "The party's roaring on at Gatsby". I think the two taglines are good summaries for the differences in the production. One is thought-provoking, the other is a rich people's party.

I can’t help but notice that in almost all of the promotional material for FF7 Rebirth, sephiroth’s voice actor, Tyler Hoechlin is missing completely. On all of the ff related social media they post interviews on the voice actors and them talking about their characters except sephiroth. Even at the launch party sephiroths VA was nowhere to be seen in any pictures. Also on his VA’s instagram he has no post or anything mentioning the games at all. I know that he’s superman and all but i feel like if i were voicing one of the most iconic video game villains of all time i’d be more public about it lol. Just a rant because I was curious on why he is so absent about his role in these games. He even was absent at the launch party and dinners🤷‍♂️ No hate obviously i love him as sephiroth he did such an amazing job

The dry humor in this movie is as applicable today as it was when it was released. The employees are frustrated, the boss is a gigantic douche, and growth prospects are non-existent.

This is not a movie that goes with the laugh track approach wherein the comedy is obvious like in Horrible Bosses. Dark humor is employed in this movie. If you are feeling frustrated at work, then this movie might be highly cathartic for you.
All employees are seething with contempt for their jobs, workplaces, and everything related to those aspects. It is incredibly funny and reminds you of Dilbert comic strips.
Violence against people is not funny. Violence against malfunctioning technology however can be very entertaining as seen below. One of the central themes of the movie is the faulty printer that jams and swallows essential documents at crucial times.
You might like The Marvels: An Unexpectedly Fun Ride
This is what inspires the trio of employees in this movie to vent their pent-up anger against an inanimate object as if it messed up on purpose. You can see how this plays out in the images given below where they take the evil printer to an isolated location and take turns eviscerating it.

This movie has been a cult classic for quite some time with references to it in pop culture. Anyone who has watched The Mandalorian will know the reference to TPS reports by Bill Burr in one of the episodes.

5. Being John Malkovich (1999)

One of the most John Malkovich of all Malkovich movies is undoubtedly Being John Malkovich. This movie has the titular actor playing a fictionalized version of himself although the more you watch the more you feel this is him in real life.
John Cusack plays a failing puppeteer who finds a physical door that leads into the mind of the actor John Malkovich after which you can experience life in the actor's body.

The sheer absurdity of the movie makes it funny at the beginning, but as the film progresses relationships get knotted with each other, taking a really dark turn. This is a movie that needs to be experienced without a plot summary giving things up.
However, Catherine Keener takes on movies relating to mind control such as in Jordan Peele's Get Out and Brad Bird's Incredibles 2. For some reason, this sends a chill down my spine - does she know something we all don't?

6. School of Rock (2003)

One of my all-time favorite movies is this Jack Black vehicle that feels like his personality made into a movie. Jack Black plays Dewey Finn, a wannabe rockstar who is down on his luck and living with a dweebish roommate Ned Schneebly played by Mike White.

When Finn gets kicked out of his band, he stumbles upon an opportunity to impersonate his roommate as a substitute teacher at a private school for substantial money. However, while chasing money, Finn forms a genuine bond with his students, helps them overcome their challenges, and finds his purpose in life.

8. Up in the Air (2009)

George Clooney at his dramatic best is something you wouldn't wanna miss. As an instance of the old ushering in the young at a corporate workplace, this is insightful and entertaining at the same time.
Clooney serves as a contrast against the vulnerability of a corporate drone while being considerate to the people he fires - for a living. The tables are turned however when a young ivy-leaguer decides that the company needs a makeover.

The whole movie is about Clooney training his replacement and getting a dose of his bitter medicine in the process.

The cinematography is great in this movie, with beautiful aerial shots and stills portraying silence and contemplation. They explore loneliness and self-discovery in Up in the Air.
This is a quiet movie with a slow pace and great acting. You get to see many metaphors play out throughout the movie.

9. Horrible Bosses (2011)

Taking the a**hole boss stereotype to the max, Horrible Bosses is a laugh riot with a lot of physical comedy and dirty jokes aplenty. Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis, and Charlie Day play Nick, Kurt, and Dale, the hapless employees with a monstrous boss.

10. The Intern (2015)

Nancy Meyers always makes pleasant movies, leaving you feeling all warm and fuzzy by the end. This movie is no exception with Robert De Niro playing a man (Ben) who thinks that "he still has music left in him," and Anne Hathaway playing the role of a young CEO (Jules) running a growing e-commerce start-up.

On Having More Kids & Moving to Vermont
Alec: Well, in my family now, I'm the only person I know who drops four kids off at school in the morning and comes home and I still have three kids waiting for me. When I get home, I have seven - I have eight children. Ireland, my oldest daughter who's married, Ireland has a baby, and she and her boyfriend are living in Oregon. And I met my wife and I got remarried and I had seven kids in nine years. It's crazy. (I think you meant to say, “my wife is batshit crazy.” The devil is in the details, Zander)
And then, all of a sudden, I met my wife, who I love dearly, (I think he repeats this in virtually every interview to counter the years of talking shit about Kim Basinger) every time the baby would get to be two years old, we’d go, maybe it's time for one more baby, one more baby, so we have seven kids. But we're actually selling our house, moving to Vermont. We bought a place in Vermont, and I'm trying to get everybody to start to acclimate up there…I think my wife wants a little change of scenery now, it's so crowded out here…I love Vermont. It's so peaceful. We got a great deal. We got fifty-five acres; house was built in 1792. It's very pretty.
The Kids Want Alec Around All the Time
Host: What do you do away from your family? Meaning, do you play golf? Do you play tennis?
Alec: I play tennis all summer...The thing that's happened in these last ten years, especially the last three or four years, is my kids are used to me being around…I mean they really rely on that… when I'm gone, they're like, you know, they're on FaceTime. If I travel to go away for a couple of days to get a paycheck, they’re on my FaceTime going you know, where are you? What are you doing? You know, they're completely baffled when I go away. Alec: Every day for two years, I think I snorted a line of cocaine from here to Saturn. We did one on the rings of Saturn. Then we came home. We took it back home. I mean, cocaine was like coffee back and everybody was doing it all day. I did a lot of coke and then I and then February 23rd, 1985…I stopped doing drugs and my drinking increased, which is they tell you that's going to happen, and that did happen. I just started drinking. I mean, and the thing, I miss drinking. I don't miss drugs at all, but I do miss drinking. I like to drink. (I appreciate next to nothing about this man, but I appreciate the honesty of this statement).
Host: But because you don't drink, and because you don't do drugs, what do you do? Do you meditate? What do you do to deal with the pressures of the outside, you know, forces, (I think you mean “lawsuits”, Paul) what do you do to get away from that?
Alec: (deadpan) Drink. I drink. I lied; I've been drinking nonstop since 1985. I lie. I tell people I'm sober and I drink my balls off. (Laughs) But no, I do miss drinking, I must say…New York relaxes me. I walk around and I see aspects of it that I've never seen before. I look at a building and I'll go, my god, I never noticed that about that building. Those doors. You know. New York is like a European city. You walk around and keep your eyes open. And I have lunches and coffee with my friends. (Um is he talking about the owner of Madman Espresso? Because that’s the only coffee related person we’ve ever seen him around.) And, I'd like to get out of here because the city is chaotic. (But also relaxing? What the hell?) But we live in the village. It's a little bit more residential. I love New York. I go to the symphony and the opera and the ballet all the time, you know, pretty regularly. But I do try to meditate. Meditating with seven children is like trying to play ping pong on the deck of an aircraft. It's a real pain in the ass. (But they rely on you, Alec?!?!)
  • Back on IG, Alec commented on a video that Ireland posted of Kim Basinger and Ireland’s partner, AndrĂŠ, playing with baby Holland, apparently in the backyard of Kim’s home. The doting abuelo’s comment was “I know that pool deck!” – dude, say something, ANYTHING, about your daughter’s child.
He probably screamed at poor Kim on that pool deck.

So, this is my ideal DCU Bat Family.
I will say, there is a few small issues that even I have with this. James Gunn has said that Bruce could be a few years older than Superman (Who is roughly in universe 30-35)
So I tried my best to squeeze all of the Robins in the Bat Family while Trying to keep the ages or al least the looks of their age reasonable.
So I'll give a description of each fan-casting down below.
(Keep in mind I take into consideration that any of these actors can and probably will bulk up if need be)
Bruce Wayne: Theo James - 39 Years old - 6'0 or 182.88 cm A sorta kinda popular fan cast for Bruce Wayne that I really like because I've seen plenty of his material and I think him playing a decently seasoned Batman would work really well (I'd say he'd be a 37-40 year old Bruce Wayne)
Damian Wayne: Javon Walton - 17 Years old - 5'8 or 172.72 cm I picked Damian second because I knew I wanted him to resemble the actor for Bruce but I also wanted to find a young actor who fits all the boxes. I'll admit, he may be a little old but I envision Damian to be older than the average Robin age in this universe. While it'll still be a comic accurate world, I think a 10-12 year old would be too much in that direction for me and most audiences. (I'd say he'd be a 15-16 year old Damian Wayne)
Alfren Pennysworth: Christian Bale - 50 Years old - 6'0 or 182.88 cm I know this one is strange, but I love "Earth: One" Alfred where he's depicted as this war torn experienced and wise man who was hired by the Wayne's to protect them. Now I don't think he needs to be a bodyguard at all, but I think keeping him with a history like that would create a dynamic character that would still feel like Alfred but in a different light. (I'd say he'd be a 55-60 year old Alfred Pennysworth, and yes I poorly edited his hair gray for the sake of this)
Dick Grayson: TimothĂŠe Chalamet - 28 Years Old - 5'10 or 177.80 cm This is by far the MOST popular fancast for the character and definitely on this list, but TimothĂŠe embodies the charming and charismatic personality of Dick Grayson perfectly, and him being the poster boy of Hollywood at the moment would 1. bring in many viewers to the DCU and 2. even fits the character of Dick Grayson as he's essentially the poster boy of DC right now and has been for awhile. I also think his age fits well with the other actors very well. (I'd say he'd be a 24-26 year old Dick Grayson)
Jason Todd: Jack Champion - 19 Years old- 6'1 or 185.42 cm Jack Champion has been in my mind for Jason Todd for awhile now. The movies he's in that aren't Avatar 2 may not have the best writing, but him as an actor works so well for Jason Todd for me, I feel if he was given the right opportunity he'd really shine and I really think this could be a potential role for him. He also is a bit on the younger side, but since he's the tallest actor on this list and looks like he could bulk up really well, I think it would make a big difference in how old he looks compared to say the actor for Tim Drake or Damian Wayne. Plus you could chalk it up to him being dead for several years. (I'd say he'd be a 21-23 year old Jason Todd)
Tim Drake: Tanner Buchanan - 25 Years old - 5'8 or 172.72 cm Normally I see him casted as Jason Todd, or a Matt Reeves Dick Grayson, but I think his stature, looks and acting range would work really well for Tim Drake. I feel like his personality would complement Tim Drake very well, and I will say he is older than I'd like but him being on the shorter side and looking very youthful would help him easily fit a late teens, early 20's Robin like I think he would be in the DCU. (I'd say he'd be a 18-20 year old Tim Drake)

I LOVE Hamilton for how it has raised the tent for ALL talented actors and actresses regardless of skin color or origin…and made us realize that any character should be able to be played by any human with talent…skin color should not matter more than eye color when playing a character!!
But for me what’s also amazing is how Lin has portrayed smart, capable women in a way you don’t see in many shows. Angelica, Eliza, being depicted as smart, equal, and MATTERING.
Angelica wanting a guy with a mind at work…an equal…someone to match wits with….and the heartbreak of not getting it. Really touched me.
Eliza being that rock for him and then using her ingenuity and effort to make that legacy matter…and the orphanage…
Lin’s emotional intelligence and truly inclusive mindset is so inspiring. This boy was raised right!!!

Personally i love kriti. I watched her first time in Bariely ki Barfi and after that i totally became a fan of her and she rocked that film and role of bitty. Obviously in Mimi she was outstanding. To the people who says her a bad actress should watch bhediya. She has done so amazing job. Both of her role and movies is very underrated. Infinite Company released the main poster for Infinite's exclusive fan meeting 'Infinite Rally Ⅳ' on its official SNS.
The released poster shows INFINITE gathered in a room with an old-fashioned interior. The visuals of the members wearing white suits with sparkling silver decorations are impressive.
This is Infinite's fan meeting in about 7 years since 'Infinite Rally Ⅲ' held in March 2017. This fan meeting, where all six members are together for the first time in a long time, will be held at the Jamsil Indoor Stadium, which is the same as before.

This year I have watched 3 Malayalam movies in theatre, premalu, bramayugam and aavesham Three totally different movie experience but I had a fun in all three of them. Bruh! What a great cinema you have. I am really impressed and mostly grounded aproach that are relatable. I am loving this so much. Can you recommend me some other movies. I have seen premam (I fall for that actress🙈), manjummel boys and the best romancham!!! This 5-6 movies only.
I want praise actors. I can clearly see row acting not some actions star with good look. Just acting and fun they create. Cinematography superr!! Story is more fun+sweet which I adore so much. But yeah all are 3.5 or 4 star movies for me(letter user). Anything that say 4.5 or maybe 5(5 for me is reserved to simple, meaningful and very topnotch movie like "perfect days").
So give me as many recommendation as possible. I am movie nerd, happy to watch different cinema and maybe connect with some of you guys🙊.

Hear me out, the show is fine. Fun in a turn your brain off kind of way but not the best product The Addams Family franchise has ever produced. The family itself is mid and the only genuinely good addition to that front is Jenna's Wednesday. I enjoy it, but it suffers so much from the awful love triangle and Burton's ideas of teenage speak.
But the ship. The ship is so good.
Its so wild what happens when actors genuinely like each other and the chemistry just flows. That said, I am super okay with the second season being not focused on romance and having more of a horror kick. That's what was promised for season 1 anyway,, saying they would take a more dark and mature perspective on the character of Wednesday.
That also said. Slow burn Wenclair throughout the whole thing? Perfection
