everyone calls me insane for this but i just don't understand why. what's the problem? everyone says their teeth get cold but how? I've been biting ice cream ever since i was like 4 years old. I just feel it lets you get the taste better. i also prefer when the ice cream is extra hard over when it's creamy. it just takes longer to melt and has a better texture. if i wanted to drink thick milk then i'd do that. if i wanted a soft dairy desert i'd eat yoghurt
by the way not sure if this is banned because it is a food post but it's in the middle zone where some parts of the world are in saturday, some are in friday

Hello! I (22M) work at an ice cream parlour and it's my first job experience. I initially planned to be working full time, but I underestimated how time consuming, energy draining and socially catastrophic it would be to work 6 days a week from 4pm to midnight or 1am. hey switzerland, this is a throw-away-account. i will tell you about my personal situation:
i am a 40+ male with an eu-citizenship and i live here since about 4 years.
i have a decent 100 % job which i like and i earn around 6800 CHF a month.
my oldest daughter turns 10 now, she also has eu-citizenship, so does her mother who is married to a swiss guy also since about 4 years. so you see, the reason i moved to switzerland, was to be close to my daughter.
i had to pay child support here since the time i arrived and it was calculated to be around 2300 CHF a month. we talked and agreed on around 1800 which i am still paying every month to them.
now 3 years ago i met a swiss woman here and became close with and yes i f*d it up for not using protection but in my defense: she had a serious surgery about 5 months after we met and was diagnosed not to be able to bear any more children, we got tested and stuff and decided not to protect anymore... so she got pregnant, yay. though i said no a couple of times she wanted to have this child who is 2 yo now already. i managed somehow which may have been a mistake of course but thats the therapy stuff sorry as this of course ruined our relationship and i had to learn that i may be colourblind towards red flags, what about that... ugh
as she already had 1 daughter (now 4 yo,, which i love too) with a guy who does not really seem to care about his child and whom she bought an appartement with (where she lives in with daughter and son at the moment) her situation is very complicated with her ex and she feels pretty anxious about it all, also financially.
the financial arrangement with him was a huge problem (and of course also finding another appartement, which she says she is trying to.. but i know ... switzerland), and i dont really know what they arranged about their appartment now or what they already downpaid etc. ... i guess about a third they already own of it, rest is debt i guess). the apt is around 3500 rent roundabout i think, very nice location. they arranged something now i think.
she earned very little to no money with her business the last years so finally she is trying to be able to rent her apt now but didnt yet. she says it is because there is no room where to move her stuff to, i offered my garage space but she is worried about humindity. yes, our living arrangements are also a very big problem all together and have a story:
while she was pregnant with my son, we tried moving and living together in my apartment 60m2 (her 80m2 was empty that time...!) and as she had such nice furniture she wanted to have this in my appartement. moving process was a mess and during and afterwards we managed to get into a lot of fights about lifestyle and also about her "stuff". this includes the ikea furniture containing tons of folders with papers, collections of crafting materials, clothes, collections of games for children all ages, clothes, baking-stuff in all shapes and sizes, clothes, stocks of hygiene/food/younameit products (for hard times i dont know, it was an offer, also both cellar and attic), shoes, bags and bags of more clothing for all sizes, random stuff she likes ordering from china. she spends hours arranging and finding things she seems to need. while all usually stays in an ikea box or whatever i dont really care and try not to judge as i also tend to be messy and own way too much stuff. she had a tidy apartment when i met her.
so also while she was pregnant i urgently requested for her to move back in her empty apt which she did. but we couldnt move the furniture back, as in her eyes they were already damaged too much in the first move so they wouldnt survive another. i also suggested paying for new stuff but she claimed she had to move out her apt anyway and there is no money for that. now she lives in her pretty much empty apt with 2 children. they love it, it was her choice and there were options. she hates it, claims it's too stressful for her living in two apt. (theres 10 car-minutes between us). it's an "next month maybe" for having-to-move-out fears since then and she is unable to arrange properly. i get that, it's a stupid situation and i also would like for the children to have stable ground.
so as she is already or still pretty much moved into my place i offered her to move back in with me if she really couldnt find any other place. of course our (i am afraid you have to call it that now) toxic relationship doesnt really make this a process full of harmony, we are fighting about various topics. last time i lost it as she said there is no money for ice cream when i wanted the children to have some.
i dont want to lose my son and clearly see the need for them to have me in their life. again sorry, therapy stuff.
now she wants my daughters room compromised for her stuff as well. really? of course if she really lives here and my daughter is only here for the weekends we can make some compromise but the way she is claiming it just doesnt seem right to me when i look at the numbers.
my rent currently is around 1600 and i have a room for my older daughter who visits me every second weekend,
the kesb calculated that i have to pay her 2500 a month for my son.
that's 5700 fixed expenses on 6800 income for me and (without the pay of the other father) she gets 6000+ (my 2500 + 3500 rent) just like that. of course she also has to pay the debt and take care about the children i guess but this all doesnt seem very fair to me, i dont own an appartement and living here a short time i have no financial reserve whatsoever.
there's a lot more details i could explain but i think one can get the picture and also maybe the frustration i feel.
maybe this is just a big rant about it as i still can afford to live here but i dont wanna start talking fairness here. so my financial question would be:
would it be a good option for me to move back to another country? pay less child support then? has anyone experienced this first hand maybe?

And then she complains he doesn’t really eat much for dinner.

I 21F and my Husband 25M have been married almost a year and dating for 3 years. Things have gotten really bad over the last year.
Firstly, the division of work. I do all household chores besides trash. I also have two step kids who are VERY young 3 & 4. We have them Friday-Sunday and I’ll have them throughout the week sometimes to help his Ex Wife out because she’s pregnant currently. He does pretty much nothing. I clean up, make all the meals, change the diapers, do the potty times etc. All he does is “ discipline” which I actively choose not to do because I don’t agree with their method (spanking) or feel comfortable following through with it…it also just doesn’t work lol. We both have full time jobs. I have an office job and he has a more physical job which is his excuse. I understand but I just feel like he could do more than absolutely nothing. He’s had this job for years, he should be able to balance it by now.
Secondly, he never wants to be around me. We work different schedules. I work 8AM-4PM and he works 3PM-11PM. A lot of the time I will sleep as soon as I get off to be able to spend time with him and he’ll ditch me to play games. That’s all he really wants to do. On the rare occasions we don’t have the kids in the weekend he’ll just spend the whole time playing games. I have to badger him to spend time with me and when he does it for an hour or two and he just leaves to go play video games. He’s also not sexually interested in me at all. I initiate often and he declines but will masturbate every night. I just don’t think he likes me period at this point.
And Finally, he’s done so many things to show he doesn’t care about me. Last year he went to the strip club with his friends. I told him I was uncomfortable with that. I don’t care where he goes or how late he’s gone, I just thought a strip club while in a relationship is disrespectful. He then proceeded to go two more times. He tells me later he was drunk and kissed a stripper, came home with a stripper number and got multiple lap dances which he told me he hadn’t done. He doesn’t consider any of this cheating, but I do. Regardless of what it can be considered as I set a boundary and he just crossed it over and over again.
In March I had a miscarriage. I was only 5 weeks but my normal depression on top of the weird hormonal things going on made me incredibly depressed and borderline suicidal. He didn’t care about me or my feelings at all and just thought I should be fine because I didn’t want a kid at that time. It really was for the greater good but I couldn’t get out of the slump for a while.
I’m writing this today because it’s been an especially bad week. I’ve had issues with finding a doctor and my job, just really stressful stuff. He was mad at me yesterday because I was texting a male co worker (NORMAL TEXTING, mostly about work) and today he’s mad cause I ate the last ice cream. I tried to talk to him but he kept saying I need to leave him alone and not bother him. He’s playing video games right now. I kinda just want a hug from somebody. Like an actual hug that’s not 2 seconds and that I don’t have to beg for.

I was surprised that an Edy’s ice cream, their French Vanilla, scored 8/10 which was second highest in the video and beat out vanilla flavors from Haagen Dazs, Ben and Jerry’s, Van Leeuwen, Tillamook, Turkey Hill, etc. (See last picture for screenshot of all 24 ice creams he tested.)

Babish is not an ice cream expert or even really likes vanilla ice cream (thus his highest was only 8/10, given to McConnell’s Vanilla Bean). However he did the most expensive pint highest, and interestingly, the often disregarded Edy’s brand second.
His rating for the Edy’s ice cream is a “special 8” as he gives the caveat that it’s actually a marshmallow flavor, not vanilla. And notes some artificial flavor. He also ranks a different Edy’s ice cream, Vanilla Bean, the lowest out of all 24 flavors, 1/10, showing he can distinguish a poor vanilla (not that I’ve tried it).
Well I had to go check out this Edy’s French Vanilla ice cream. As luck would have it, it was on deep discount for Memorial Day sale.

• Price: $4.79 for 1.5 quart/48 oz. ($1.66 special sale)
• Taste profile: expected an old fashioned custard taste, but it’s actually like a vanilla cake batter taste. Confectionery, cotton candy or marshmallow type taste.
• Artificial?: yes, but not overwhelmingly so. Fine for the flavor. Some lingering taste.
• Texture: Airy, like a dense whipped cream. Works for the flavor.
• Pairs well with: candy, sour flavors, etc. I poured Blue Raspberry syrup on top and it was perfect Blue Moon taste.
• Best for: kid’s parties. Make a unicorn cake flavor ice cream with this.
• Would repurchase: yes, if I specifically want a cake batter taste.

I think Babish is right, French Vanilla is a decent ice cream for Edys. Who else has a 48oz of cake batter ice cream? It’s a nice flavor, but totally not vanilla (well, I guess vanilla cake batter kind of counts?) and especially not what I think of as French Vanilla. Edy’s should definitely rebrand this ice cream.
Imho, Edy’s French Vanilla should not be in the running for best vanilla taste. It is simply a different flavor of ice cream.
Ben and Jerry’s Vanilla scored 7/10 in Babish’s best vanilla ranking and was tied for third with another ice cream. I recently tried this one and think it’s the proper runner up.
I also tried the much recommended Blue Bell Homemade Version suggested in the comment section of the video. It is much more of a vanilla flavor than Edy’s French Vanilla. But it’s a totally different flavor than vanilla bean. I think there should be multiple categories for best of vanilla flavors.
Back to Edy’s French Vanilla: it’s pretty decent if you are looking for something like a light birthday cake flavor with slight density and an airy, marshmallow-y mouthfeel. 7/10.

I’ve been on wegovy since December 1 last year and so far I’ve lost 37 pounds. I never exercise and I constantly eat ice cream, cheese fries and whatever I’m hungry for. Problem is … it’s caught up to me. All I think about is food. All day long! I had my gallbladder removed February 8 this year so you’d “think “ I wouldn’t be able to handle all that sugar and grease but unfortunately I can. I say unfortunately because dang it, I don’t WANT to be eating like this all the time.
I just started packing away and donating all my “chub” clothes and started buying size medium tops! Omg! But the other day I saw that I gained 4 pounds back. Yes I’m still on 2.4 wegovy.
Anyone else have this type of situation?
Also, just want to throw this out there: I’m able to cross my legs again when i sit down! Never thought I would do that again.

I’ll try to keep it short. Just now, I woke up from a nap at my boyfriend’s house with a mild fever and a sore throat. I told my boyfriend this, and asked for a glass of milk. He said I was only allowed a small glass; his small glasses are atrociously small. I asked why couldn’t I have a big glass (which is more normally sized), and he said it’s because milk is expensive. He doesn’t buy the milk; his mom does. I ask him if there was an issue, like if she said anything about how much milk she buys, or how expensive it is, and he said no. He just doesn’t want me drinking the milk. I asked why this was never a problem before, he argued it was, and that he told me, but he never has; just that they were “running out of milk” and “need the milk to last”, which isn’t the case this time, as his mom is buying more tomorrow and there’s a full carton. I genuinely don’t see the issue with me drinking milk. If I drink a lot, I’ve replaced the carton in the past. He could’ve told me that it was an issue prior and I could’ve bought my own milk, too. I mentioned this to him, and he just kept saying “there’s no need to drink any more milk”. I haven’t drank any milk today.
I just can’t help but to see this as some sort of power trip or control move, as there’s no reason for him to suddenly claim that milk is “expensive”, as there’s no issues and he doesn’t even pay for it. Am I overthinking this? Or does this seem controlling? I’m asking because I’ve ignored a lot of little red flags before that winded up to be really bad situations, and this one is giving me a bad vibe, and I just want to make sure I’m not overthinking or anything.
Edit/small update: I’m definitely taking him not allowing me milk freedom very personally. I was in abusive homes where my food intake was severely limited and this might be triggering trauma with that. I’ve talked to him some more about it and I’m very conflicted on how to feel. He admitted I only had two small glasses of milk out of this batch of milk he bought. He said it turns out there’s only a little bit of milk left and can’t rely on when he’s going to get food money. Apparently, his brother moving back in makes it so the two cartons that used to be enough, isn’t sustainable anymore? I asked if he ran out of food money that he couldn’t buy more milk, and I also got mixed answers on that. I asked, how come it’s fine for me to drink the rest of the milk in a small glass but not in a big glass, if apparently I would’ve drank it all anyways? He couldn’t answer. Since he claims it’s a money thing, I proposed him buying cheaper milk (he buys $7 a carton lactose free milk, when he isn’t lactose intolerant. He said he “might be”, but he eats expensive lactose ice cream regularly with no issues) or just.. buying one more carton of milk per week? He also insists on getting the milk more expensive at his preferred store, when I just checked that it’s $4 at Walmart. So, there’s definitely things he can do to afford more milk. Today he also got snacks for me from the dollar store, so it’s not like he can’t afford the one extra or cheaper carton of milk. I was adamant to him that I shouldn’t be punished or limited in food/drink consumption just because other people in the house were using all of it. And he argued that “they live there, you don’t”. we had a lot of back and fourths. I told him it’s like me inviting him over for dinner and portioning how much I gave him, telling him I couldn’t afford him to have a full serving. He argued it wasn’t like that. Eventually it got to the point where he said he’ll buy cheaper milk, or that I could bring my own. I’m just really upset that this was an issue to begin with. It’s not hard to be like “hey, I don’t have enough milk and we’re going through more now that my brother moved back in, can you bring your own or lend some change?” I’m very disappointed that this was even an issue. I wouldn’t have had a problem funding my own milk at all if he was just transparent about it. He genuinely thinks he’s done no wrong at this point. Ultimately, I said I won’t be talking to him again until he can promise to never limit my food or drink intake again. I think ultimately it’s just too much of a dealbreaker for me, to be controlled in such a way where I’m supposed to be safe. I haven’t heard back from him yet.
Conclusion: We talked more. I explained my traumas with being starved and rationed as a kid and apologized, and he apologized and promised not to try and ration me again. He said he was genuinely worried about running out of milk and didn’t know how to word it initially, and that he tried to handle the situation on his own. We agreed that I’ll keep my own milk there so there won’t be any more issues on that front, and he’ll come to me with concerns instead of trying to control the situation in the future. He and I are a team; if he needs milk for his home and not just me, I’d buy it for him. I genuinely don’t think he should ever be worried about not having milk in the house. So, I asked him to come to me next time, and he agreed to try and share his concerns with me.

We texted continuously, he was SO into me, I went over to his place a couple weeks later, and when we made out on his bed he trembled severely, and when I asked what was going on, he said "I'm nervous and I don't know what you like".
Next day he came to a pregame for a party he wasn't invited to just to walk me to the party. At the pre-game he was not looking at me much and kept talking to my friend (friend later told me he was looking at me a lot when I wasn't looking at him), and I had to initiate hand-holding and making out, and then he got comfortable a while later (he seems quite shy and nervous and again, afraid of rejection). He was bragging about how intelligent I was and how I went to an Ivy and currently am about to get a PhD to his friend.
Next day, On our first date, and he told me he is very insecure, has a huge, fragile ego, a fear of rejection, rejected by women until he was 17 and got dumped by his first gf last year and was heartbroken by it, had a rebound last summer, doesn't "date to date", has body dysmorphia. We had sex after the first date, he got off, I didn't, he said "I had fun" and afterwards said "you're so fucking hot and I just want to do a good job". He was extremely cuddly and affectionate that night.
Next day he said he had a wonderful time .Kept texting regularly with just as much enthusiasm between dates, put so much effort into keeping the convo going, texting me during finals, from therapy, etc. B/w first and second date I invite him to be my +1 to a party (after the second daate) Second date comes and goes well.

But if it is the case that he is just embarassed and fears rejection and is feeling insecure and that is why he's acting like this, I'd really like to know how to salvage this and try to see each other again, but I have no idea how to proceed.

We met almost two months ago at a party, stayed up 7 hours talking, made out (he trembled when we made out), got each others numbers, texted non0stop, he got into a car accident a few days later, and reached out from the hospital via relatives phone to DM his friend to have him DM my friend to lhave her et me know he wasn't ghosting me and was just hospitalized and severely injured (just to give you context for how much he was into me). We texted continuously, he was SO into me, I went over to his place a couple weeks later, and when we made out on his bed he trembled severely, and when I asked what was going on, he said "I'm nervous and I don't know what you like".
Next day he came to a pregame for a party he wasn't invited to just to walk me to the party. At the pre-game he was not looking at me much and kept talking to my friend (friend later told me he was looking at me a lot when I wasn't looking at him), and I had to initiate hand-holding and making out, and then he got comfortable a while later (he seems quite shy and nervous and again, afraid of rejection). He was bragging about how intelligent I was and how I went to an Ivy and currently am about to get a PhD to his friend.
Next day, On our first date, and he told me he is very insecure, has a huge, fragile ego, a fear of rejection, rejected by women until he was 17 and got dumped by his first gf last year and was heartbroken by it, had a rebound last summer, doesn't "date to date", has body dysmorphia. We had sex after the first date, he got off, I didn't, he said "I had fun" and afterwards said "you're so fucking hot and I just want to do a good job". He was extremely cuddly and affectionate that night.
Next day he said he had a wonderful time .Kept texting regularly with just as much enthusiasm between dates, put so much effort into keeping the convo going, texting me during finals, from therapy, etc. B/w first and second date I invite him to be my +1 to a party (after the second daate) Second date comes and goes well.

He got extremely quiet after that and said nothing all night (and this guy hates silence and never goes more than 5 seconds of silence without bringing up a new topic of convo), next morning he avoided eye contact and looked taken aback when I kissed him goodbye.
Next evening he texted me and said he had a lot of fun and that he left his sunglasses in my car and asked if he could pick them up from me on saturday (to come to the party). This would be the last time he would initiate a text convo. I texted "glad you had fun!" and said i'd get his glasses for him and bring it to the party. From this point on, he only replies to my texts and does not make any effort to keep the convo going
Three days later I tell him I'm actually not allowed a +1 and I apologize for having to uninvite him (this is true), and he said "that's okay, hopefully I'll see you some other time), and I just heart that message and say I'll drop off his sunglasses on my way to the party.
When I see him the day of the party he seems a bit withdrawn but nice, not making that much eye contact.
ANyway, we don't talk for 5 days after that, and I reach out to explain that I had an anxiety attacjk and apologize if I seemed withdrawn. He said he didn't notice any thing and said he was sorry that I had a bad reaction. After that I said "Hopefully I'll see you some other time" and he goes "Yea I'd love to see you again!", and I suggested ice cream and he said "yes please! I love ice cream!" but didn't actually pick a day or anythuing, said he'd be back and forth in town until the end of may (this was grad weekend, he packed up, went home an hour away). Then he asks me about the party (first time he makes effort to keep the convo going since the second date)
Anyway he replies 2 days later, no apology or explanation for the delay, with a lackluster message, I respond 4 days later, he leaves me on read (although my message did not require a response). I reach out last Monday (4 days after he left me on read) and ask if we're still on for ice cream and he says yes we're still on and he'll let me know when he'll be back in town, and sorry, he's just been busy with moving back home and being busy with classes, and when I say no worries, he just leaves a thumbs up.

Anyway, my friends say he's being distant and avoidant because he is embarassed and feeling insecure and inadequate because of how the sex went and his clear issues with self-esteem and fear of rejection (I also have been scouted by modeling agents and I'm in an Ivy school and about to get a MD and he said he was intimidated by me).
I do still like him and want to try to salvage this. If he has lost interest purely because he just does not feel the same way about me anymore, fine, I'll ack off. 24f, 5’6, 113 pounds (current) only medications i’m on are prenatals for current pregnancy and zofran for morning sickness. here’s a list of dates and events that happened to kinda tell the story of where i am
August, 2023, weighing 165lbs - ate a waffle cone, assumed i swallowed a sharp piece without chewing it properly. x-ray and ct scans confirmed nothing was stuck in my throat but i had a feeling of pain when swallowing and overall just felt like food was stuck in my throat and wouldn’t go down
September, 2023, weighing 155lbs - all i had been eating for a month straight was very soft noodles and ice cream. dropped ~10lbs like it was nothing
October 31, 2023, weighing 140lbs - got in to a GI doctor and had an upper endoscopy done to check for physical lumps or blockages. conclusion - they found nothing that would be causing my problems and only really found a couple of “precancerous” cells in my stomach but said that wouldn’t cause this issue and to follow up in 3 years for a repeat. After this procedure i actually felt like the lump was gone, strangely enough. i was back to eating normally for a couple weeks until one day i swallowed a noodle and felt like it got stuck
November-December 2023, went from 140lbs to 128lbs at the end of december - still only eating ice cream and chocolate that i can suck on until i became liquid. even thicker purées like pudding, yogurt, smoothies, and peanut butter felt like i was choking on them when swallowing. been working with my PCP and GI doctor during this time to figure out what’s going on. i was prescribed antireflux meds & anti fungal meds to take and see if either or those help. took both for about a month and noticed 0 change. noticed numbness in my legs and toes, mentioned it to my doctor
January, 2024, weighing 120lbs - went back to my PCP as the feeling is still there, i’m losing an extreme amount of weight very fast due to malnutrition and wasn’t able to even get out of bed most days without almost passing out. They ran blood tests and did a 48 heart monitor on me. ended up at the ER after a fainting spell from getting up from bed. no abnormal findings but they admitted me for 2 days to run a bunch of tests and give me IV nutrients as i was very malnourished. they did a repeat endoscopy and found nothing, told me to follow up with my PCP again. after the second endoscopy i noticed i was able to eat normally again for a week or two before the feeling came back.
February, 2024 weighing 115lbs - Got the results back…my liver function is very low, my thyroid levels are extremely low, and my heart monitor test came back as “normal” i guess but they did say my heart beats faster than normal? (lowest it ever got was 72 and that’s when i was sleeping, highest was in the 200s) got a referral to an endocrinologist for my thyroid, a referral to do a swallow study, and they closed the whole cardiac case.
March, 2024, weighing 110lbs - got in to do the swallow study which came back “ normal” (no food was getting caught on the way down that they could see) but the sensation of food getting stuck was still there! if i ate anything solid it felt like it would stay there until i chugged water. shortly after i found out i was pregnant and started working with my OBGYN to figure out how to get nutrients to maintain a pregnancy.
April - may - ended up gaining weight after living off of nothing but yogurt and peanut butter straight from the jar for protein and crushing my prenatals into the yogurt to take
it’s currently may 31st, i weigh around 123lbs and the weight gain is solely due to eating a ton of peanut butter and yogurt (plus the pregnancy) im awaiting a referral to an ENT but other than that none of my doctors are showing concern or a sense of urgency with my problem. i have no idea what could be wrong but i KNOW it’s not “all in my head” i did some research after my second endoscopy and learned that they dilate your throat for that and dilation is something they do for other issues as well. i guess my main questions are …

1. Could the feeling i have be scar tissue from the initial trauma? would that be something they would see in the endoscopy?
   
2. I have a follow up with my GI in june, should i ask about a more permanent solution to the dilation considering it helped both times? how do i bring that up?
   
3. should i switch PCPs? i feel like mine doesn’t take me very seriously or sees me as someone who’s making it all up but im not sure switching at this point would be beneficial.
   
4. what can i do to add more nutrition into my diet without doing solid foods?
   

ETA: i am still experiencing numbness/pins and needles in my legs and feet. i brought it up to my PCP and he said it’s most likely due to malnutrition and to not worry since my strength is still there.

protesters led by Bagrat Galstanyan clashed with police while attempting to enter the Foreign Ministry building

The pro-Russian former regime continues to demand PM Pashinyan's resignation. Yesterday protest co-organizer Bagrat Galstanyan said he was preparing a "surprise" for the government.
On Friday, Galstanyan and a group of supporters clashed with the police after he gave FM Mirzoyan and other ministry officials "30 minutes to come down and talk" and said he would enter the building if they didn't come. Galstanyan said he wanted the crowd to enter the building, too, but the police was against it.
Galstanyan said that the police "would be responsible for any clash". He said he didn't care if the police brought 2,000 more officers because he was determined to enter the building. The crowd eventually clashed with the police. The officers pushed them back. Galstanyan threatened the police chief: "You will answer with your head." Galstanyan wasn't happy that the foreign ministry leadership refused to meet him. The police warned him not to incite the crowd. He blamed the police for the incident.
Galstanyan was rousing the crowd before the clash. He accused the police of hooliganism and using insults, and urged his supporters to treat the police "like they treat you". He held the loudspeaker at the police and gestured for his followers to shout at them. The situation began to intensify. Some officers began slamming their batons against their shields but the commander signaled them to stop, and they did.
Galstanyan instructed his followers not to back down: "Do not take a step back... Our patience has limits." Galstanyan kept accusing the police of inciting things while the police stood there without taking action. The police spokesman also brought a loudspeaker and accused Galstanyan of being an agitator and inciting the crowd.
7 police officers and several protesters were hospitalized after the clash. 28 protesters were arrested and are facing charges.
During the evening speech, Galstanyan said he doesn't regret today's events and urged his followers to take action and get arrested if necessary:
GALSTANYAN: If you do not get arrested today by this government, tomorrow you will have to answer for that. //
Hanun Republic party chief Arman Babajanyan, a former churchman, said that Church leader Garegin B will be responsible for future clashes incited by his "imprudent son" Bagrat.
BABAJANYAN: I hope FM Mirzoyan and others won't meet this clown and won't interact with him. This movement has become an entertainment for media outlets in Turkey and Azerbaijan. //
REPORTER: The number of protesters is small. Is the protest fading?
ARF MP GARNIK (co-organizer): It's not the protest that's fading, it's those people [Nikol]. We have many supporters in the state apparatus who will join us. //
Bagrat Galstanyan was nominated by the former regime as their candidate to replace PM Pashinyan. In response to observations that Galstanyan cannot be a PM because he must wait at least 4 years after ending his dual citizenship, Galstanyan's supporters say there are ways to bypass the restriction. For example, Serj-era Justice Minister Gevorg Danielyan claims there are no constitutional obstructions, while Galstanyan's supporter lawyer Arsen Babayan [Serj-era parliament official] suggests ignoring the Constitution altogether.
ARSEN BABAYAN: When the issue is to save the country, the Constitution and the law must be pushed to the background. This is very important. We cannot lose the country because of the law and the Constitution. Let's not forget that it's the people who decide how the Constitution should be. I want Galstanyan to be appointed as the PM and then amend the Constitution, not the other way around. //
RULING MP: The daily nonsense continues. In other words, Arsen Babayan admits that there is a legal obstruction but he wants that obstruction to be ignored and changed later.
REPORTER: ARF MP Garnik Danielyan says they have supporters in state agencies who are ready to join them when the time is right.
RULING MP: It doesn't matter what Danielyan says; he is just selling hope to his supporters.
REPORTER: Your administration failed to "clean up" the state agencies and carry out "lustration".
RULING MP: We promised after the 2018 revolution not to carry out a vendetta and to allow experts to stay in their positions. This is why so many employees with ties to former administrations continued to work and receive higher positions. It's another thing that they didn't understand and appreciate the opportunity to serve the state and not the government. Today the opposition is doing the [self-]lustration much better than we could have ever done.
Today the protest organizers are trying to bait the authorities to take certain actions against protesters so the organizers can present it as a valid reason to end the protests because they understand they have reached a dead end. The only thing they have accomplished is annoying the residents and obstructing their roads. //
The opposition doesn't have enough votes to initiate an impeachment process against Pashinyan, let alone succeed by securing a majority of votes. They are short of 1 vote to initiate the process. They are hoping to convince their former partyman Ishkhan Zakharyan to join the process but Zakharyan left their ranks a while ago to continue his service as an independent MP and doesn't seem to be eager to join the impeachment. On Friday Zakharyan was seen with Pashinyan's Chief of Staff Arayik Harutyunyan during the session of the Executive Committee of the Pan-Armenian Games. Zakharyan recently told protest leader Bagrat Galstanyan that he "doesn't reject" the impeachment process but there are no reports of him joining it either.
In other news. Bagrat Galstanyan's supporter Don Pipo, a criminal subculture figure wanted by Armenian authorities since 2022 for allegedly organizing a murder, is organizing groups of Russian-Armenians to travel to Armenia to join Galstanyan's protests.
In other news. The police announced the arrest of a protester who had a dispute and allegedly stabbed a fellow protester in the cheek and neck in the backyard of St. Anna church where Galstanyan regularly holds evening gatherings to announce the plan for the following day.

the Church owns hundreds of apartments that are not being taxed: ruling party MP

MP VARDANYAN: There needs to be a study to understand the volume so we can decide how to tax just as we tax other things under Armenia's law. //
The MP pulled out a phone with an Excel sheet reportedly displaying the list of properties owned by the Church and scrolled it for several pages to show it to the reporters.
MP VARDANYAN: There needs to be a study to understand how these properties are being used. The ones used for commercial purposes and manufacturing must pay taxes like everyone else does. This study is my personal initiative with a group of colleagues; it's not an official process yet.
REPORTER: When was this idea born?
MP VARDANYAN: We were discussing it some time ago and the conversation was revived after the recent public discourse about the Church and taxes. In the past, we discussed the import of raw paraffin under "charity" which was later re-categorized and today it's imported from EAEU. Perhaps all these discussions weren't interesting in the past while we were having it. Every citizen must pay taxes and no one should be above the law.

CUSTOMS CHIEF: No. I'm not aware of any process.
REPORTER: A ruling party MP said today that they are studying the issue. Do you know anything about it?
CUSTOMS CHIEF: I'm not aware of the details. We will provide taxation statistics if they request it. No requests have been made so far.
REPORTER: Is the Church paying taxes today?
CUSTOMS CHIEF: They have some employees engaged in commercial activities so they pay income tax from their paychecks. The law grants tax exemptions to the Church for the sale of certain ceremonial products, property tax, and various other exemptions.
REPORTER: Why were they granted those exemptions?
CUSTOMS CHIEF: For various reasons. If there are activities relating to religion it can have exemptions but it's necessary to understand what's religious and non-religious.
REPORTER: Why was the taxation brought up now?
CUSTOMS CHIEF: We've been discussing changes to the tax law with the Church for several years. We discussed the law on charity. We suggested that they make payments for imports of paraffin and tserezin. We offered to cover the full cost of import duties on those items but for some reason the Church refused. [Pashinyan said earlier that they offered the Church to improve its financial transparency by having them pay taxes and receive all of the paid taxes back.]
REPORTER: Why did the Church turn down the suggestion?
CUSTOMS CHIEF: I don't know the reason.
REPORTER: The MP said they are studying thousands of properties owned by the Church and that they might prepare a resolution.
CUSTOMS CHIEF: As I said, we are ready to cooperate by providing statistics if necessary.
REPORTER: What is your personal opinion on taxing the Church?
CUSTOMS CHIEF: Things with religious purposes should not be taxed but when you sell something and collect a profit, that's something we can discuss.
REPORTER: Can you bring an example?
CUSTOMS CHIEF: No problem when the Church receives a donation, but if the Church sells an item for profit, including candles, it should be taxed.
REPORTER: Have you already studied the volume of such sales?
CUSTOMS CHIEF: No.
REPORTER: Protest leader Galstanyan said businessman Hayk Shahnazaryan's business was investigated because of supporting him. Is this policy applied in the case of other businesses as well?
CUSTOMS CHIEF: You just presented misinformation as a fact. The individual you mentioned has been at the center of customs checks since 2023 and the same violation happened again so that was the reason for the latest action as well. There is always an attempt to manipulate the enforcement actions by distorting the timing of events. Today one of the MPs said that a supermarket belongs to a ranking police official and asked "why do you not investigate them?". I published the list of investigations against that supermarket, showing ֏10 million in fines imposed on them. These manipulations are common. Everything is a conspiracy, starting from the weather.

IRS chief about the 2023 budget:

• State budget revenues rose by ֏296B ($764M) or 15.4%.

court acquits ex-President Serj Sargsyan on $1 million agricultural fuel embezzlement charges

Serj Sargsyan and co-defendants, including the owner of Flash fuel company, were accused of conspiring to embezzle fuel meant for farmers. The case was brought almost 5 years ago. Some of the key witnesses died of natural causes and COVID during the process, which lasted for so long that all the defendants qualified for release under the statute of limitations even if they were found guilty. Since we didn't have professional devices with international standards to measure the signal strength, we couldn't contact the international union to ask them to require our neighbors to reduce the power of their towers located near Armenia. This is why the Rohde & Schwarz measuring radio-monitoring devices were acquired and I'm glad they are in Armenia now. Have you measured the signals and contacted the international body?
HIGH-TECH MINISTER Hayrapetyan: The issue requires multiple steps and owning the $1.3 million equipment alone won't solve the issue.
