Pain and difficulty opening mouth wide 10 days after wisdom tooth extraction x2
Hi, Background: 32 yo male. Generally healthy.
A couple of questions:
I've had a teeth 18 and 48 removed at one go and everything went pretty well I suppose.
1.Its been 10 days now and I still have some tolerable pain\pressure around my bottom chin area and under the canine tooth on that side. However, I cant find myself to be able to fully open my mouth as I could, i feel limited and pressure and I try to take a big bite or open wide. Is this normal? When can I expect a full recovery?
  1. I have a small dot in the top back that stings me, I can barely reach it with my tongue but it feels like a bone spur sticking out. Will it get released by it self? It only stings when I strech my cheeks in a specific way. Is there anything I can do at home? I am not able to get to my dentist any time soon because of work travel (luckily I was better before I had to travel)
I'm attaching a panoramic pre-extraction as a reference.
Also would like to thank the docs here for recommending me to get the teeth out right away when the pain started, you had brought me some reassurance.

2024.06.01 13:03 LRASshifts Are there serious consequences to avoiding calls and contact from home treatment team/other mental health teams?

I was sectioned yesterday afternoon but discharged at night. They made an appointment on behalf of me with this home treatment team. I knew I was not gonna go but I wanted to get out of there so I agreed to everything they were offering me.
Today I ignored their calls and voice messages, I’m gonna keep doing so. Will this lead to any serious consequences or would they most likely just leave me alone?

1. 1-minute: A 1-minute chart displays the price action over a 1-minute period.
2. 5-minute: A 5-minute chart displays the price action over a 5-minute period.

2024.06.01 12:59 Getting_better23 Need Guidance: 3-Year Gap Due to Family Emergency, Can I Return to Tech?

Hey Devs, I need genuine help regarding this and I need to hear your honest advice on whether I should pursue career in tech or not given I have a 3 year gap because I have to take care of my father suffering from brain hemorrhage. I graduated with BSc. CS back in 2021.
He was a dentist in some local hospital, and was laid off during COVID and unfortunately later he began having severe mental health issues, headaches, and one day it became so critical that he went unconscious and was hospitalized.
He was diagnosed with brain hemorrhage , hence needed immediate surgery. And all this happened during fatal 2nd COVID wave, we had to pay a huge price for surgery..
We were close to poverty at that time, so when things opened up, our sole motive was to set up our dental clinic. So we did rent a space and began setting it up.
My father still needed supervision, he had some cognitive complications, and BP problems, due to BP sometimes blood clotting interfere with nerves, he would faint, become nausea tic sometimes. And in course of 3 years I had to carry him to hospital 3-4 times.
So at that time I decided to help my father and not pursue further education that year, and I have younger brother and sister whose college fees we had to arrange. I didn't knew about gap years at that time, thought I can continue it later on when we become stable enough. At the moment I am needed at home.
Hence I went to clinic with my father daily I used to do data entry work like scheduling appointments and managing report history of our patients. But main purpose for me being on clinic was supervision, if he needed some help..
After two years of effort, we are doing well and have recovered financially, allowing me to continue my studies. My father's health has also improved. And I can further continue my studies. In the meanwhile I tried clearing few government exams, but unfortunately was not able to make it, this year I am thinking to get into something productive.
During my college days, I found great joy in working on projects, including data analysis with Python and R, as well as web development projects like e-commerce stores, among others. As of now, I am a bit inclined towards data side of things, like data analytics, data science.
However, I am quite worried that I may have burned all bridges...
Hence,
To the developers and hiring managers on developersIndia, I am reaching out for your honest advice on how to handle this situation. Programming is the only skill I can provide, and I would greatly appreciate any further guidance you can provide.
Once again, thank you for your willingness to help.

2024.06.01 12:58 Anthrax731 Thoughts on being the sole provider or accepting support. Ladies please weigh in and share your thoughts.

You see like most young men raised in a traditional Christian household I was taught that the man is the breadwinner and it is the mans job to provide for the wife. I say wife in singular because I was taught this by my late father long before I discussed my decision to pursue polygany.
But as such I have this deep instilled mindset I guess one could say, that it is my job as the man to carry the weight of providing to all my wives. However realistically speaking unless you are some rich oil prince, or a doctor who makes a truck load of money, in the modern day and age one would never be able to support the whole family solely on the shoulders of the man alone.
You often hear that one of the benefits of polygany is that your wives can work alongside you thus lifting or at least easing the burden of providing for the family. Thus the responsibility of breadwinner do not lie solely on the shoulders of the husband.
And it does make sense. More people working together but also sharing a household means more available incomes to share on expenses, and less expenses as everyone shares a home means you can stretch your available income further. It is the same principle any young adult college boy/gal learned while rooming together in college/uni.
But I still struggle between the mindset of "the man is the breadwinner and should carry the responsibility of providing." vs "your wives can help carry the weight of providing."
Now in a homesteading lifestyle it can be argued that the man will do the brunt of the farming and food production and the wives only aiding were necessary. However, even so if you are trying to achieve a fully self sufficient farm, producing all your food on the farm, that includes chickens for egg's, cattle for milk, and meat, vegetables, wheat for bread etc. That is a lot of work to be done by one man alone, especially if you have a large family. Now of course you can get your sons to help out but they still need to go to school and there is also your children's infant stage to consider. As such it is almost a given that most of the breadwinning would actually be done by your wives. But if that is the case then you as the man are not actually stepping up to your role as breadwinner as you are not carrieng the weight of providing.
Please share your thoughts. Ladies please share your views on this aswell.

2024.06.01 12:57 HelpWorkItOut Reasonable Adjustments. Are they actually adjustments? And grievance issues

Hello, please help! Posting on an anonymous account…
I have been having ongoing issues at work related to my disabilities (all diagnosed, physical and recognised under Equality Act 2010, if those things are a factor) It took me over eight months from contacting managers of my department and our HR, this includes the head of department and two line managers I had in that time, to get adjustments and an occupational health referral. I was expecting a meeting about adjustments in December, which was quite urgent at that time as I was having hospital appointments, instead my line manager told me that expected meeting would actually be about my performance. I was shocked by this as I hadn’t had any performance issues, I reiterated my confusion as I was awaiting a meeting about reasonable adjustments. She invited the head of department and HR to that meeting. The issues raised were dated in October and November, when I was having health issues and had urgently highlighted the need for adjustments, support and an occupational health referral.
Fast forward months later, occupational health referral undertaken, reasonable adjustments meetings undertaken with a different manager and I have put in an informal grievance in regards to how my request for adjustments was handled. All contact with my previous line manager has been put on hold.
The meeting for the grievance was held with the senior manager from another department and a member of HR and my union rep on 26th April. I was expecting to hear back from HR about the grievance and next steps. Instead, yesterday I received an email from the manager about another meeting next week in regards to the adjustments, and some issues around my performance (doesn’t say what) the email does not reference the grievance at all, but states the relationship with my line manager needs to be reinstated. I have expressed serious concerns about my previous line managers conduct and the anxiety communicating with them has given me.
My concerns are, the grievance has not been referenced and discussed at all since the April 26th meeting, in which I had supplied a clear breakdown of dates with communication about adjustment requests.
Also, the adjustments that have been proposed to me include two things which all employees are working to, this includes the start time I am at work, the same as all employees but it has been put as a reasonable adjustment. All members of my department WFH three days a week and are onsite two days a week. I have this written that is an adjustment for me, but it’s not, I am working to the same rota that all other members of staff in my department are.
How can I approach these issues and highlight the ongoing concerns with line management, the grievance and the ‘adjustments’ that aren’t adjustments?
TLDR: Been offered reasonable ‘adjustments’ that aren’t adjustments. Ongoing grievance issues with line manager, been raised as informal grievance, with the expectation this would be investigated, not heard anything back in regards to it, but been invited to a meeting I’ve been told ‘isn’t a disciplinary procedure or performance review’

2024.06.01 12:54 madssaysugh Where all of the “good” nannies have gone. My Roman Empire.

TLDR: Nannying is a very hard job. There would probably be a lot more nannies who work as hard as one needs to do this job well if the pay matched the value and difficulty of the work.
I’ve been pretty active in this sub lately because I’ve been feeling unhappy at my job and it helps to have a community. I wrote this a while ago and have been nervous to post it but I think it’s important. I saw a post in nannyemployers asking where all of the “good” nannies have gone and this was the response I was writing until I realised the replies were to be from NP only.. I would post in the nanny employers sub if I weren’t terrified of the response. I know I’m singing to the choir here and I know saying it out loud doesn’t change much. But I am so, so angry, so imma just send it.
As a nanny who has two college degrees, practices Montessori, Reggio Emilia, and RIE, and as someone who has always loved and wanted to work with kids, there simply is not enough money in this career path to stick to it. I personally simply cannot rationalise doing the amount of physical and emotional work that is required for me to do this job as well as I want to for the typical pay, even though I absolutely love it.
For my background, experience, and approach, I am in a severely underpaid position (even when disregarding my qualifications it would still be severely underpaid.) Because of my personal and financial situation at the time of my job search, I did not have the luxury to wait for a unicorn family to offer me the salary I was looking for. I found a family that was a good fit and accepted the position even though I felt it was very much underpaid. I am now in a position where I am continuously battling wanting to work as hard as I can for these kids and this family, and realising I can’t break my back for them while being this underpaid (I mean I literally threw my back out during this job). I’m not someone who breaks a commitment easily but I guess I could move from family to family, waiting to find one who is able to financially match the value of this work, or I could stick it out and get $2/hr raises every year, but I can’t wait 10 years to finally get close to being paid what I know a proper nanny is worth. Yes there certainly are some nanny employers who properly respect this work and are able to financially meet it’s value, but in my experience they are few and far between. I have found that the overwhelming majority of nannies are severely underpaid and overworked.
Nannies are asked to have flexible schedules, work long hours, take on a laundry list of responsibilities, develop personal emotional relationships with children that aren’t theirs while keeping a professional distance, pay for and organise their own continued training, be emotionally and socially engaged with children all day long, and more. But above all, the most important aspect of nannying is managing our stress is such a way that allows us to stay in an executive state of functioning all day every single day. People deeply underestimate and undervalue the amount of hard and constant work it takes to keep oneself in an executive state of functioning day in and day out, especially in a high stress position where you are helping other people regulate their bodies all day on top of yours, AND are constantly sick and tired and being pushed and tested. I think that this ability is what makes the difference in a “good” nanny and is often the most overlooked, misunderstood, and undervalued aspect of the job responsibilities.
I want to be a good nanny, it’s my dream job to be the best nanny there is, and I used to think that I could accept being in an undervalued role because “it takes a village” and I wanted to do my part and this was my passion. But it doesn’t feel good to be undervalued financially and socially, in fact it feels really really bad, and this is why I will no longer be pursuing a career as a nanny. Even if I found my unicorn position, it wouldn’t change the fact that the overwhelming majority of my nanny peers are still underpaid and undervalued, and that doesn’t feel good. It makes me want to leave, and I think all of the other underpaid nannies should leave too. (We need a union or something, is this a thing?)
The market is oversaturated and undervalued. Not everyone needs a nanny now that quarantine is over (a full-time nanny, not babysitter or after school care). I have both worked at a preschool and as a nanny and I have found that a setting with multiple children of similar age is far better developmentally for a child than spending most of their time with a single adult and a sibling or two, even for young babies. I think a healthy mix of a daycare setting and family time at home is probably best but can be the most difficult to achieve with the current work culture. This is no one’s fault, the overworking culture is a burden of late stage capitalism that we all face. However, it is the burden of the parents to solve their work/life balance. This is a very big part of what one signs up for when becoming a parent. It is not the burden of the nanny to work more for less or the children to miss being with their parents (I’d say two doctor NP are pretty much the only ones who’d get a pass here).
It’s no one person’s fault that nannies are financially undervalued, the value of personal childcare and domestic work has a long saturated history fraught with misogyny and racism. Have you compared the average wage of a plumber (male dominated domestic work) to that of a nanny (female dominated domestic work)? And don’t tell me plumbing requires more training or is harder than nannying, I assure you they are of comparable difficulty especially considering there’s no step by step instructions on YouTube for nannying. (And if you do consider plumbing to be that much hard than nannying, what do you think gives you that perception? I mean as a parent, one should know that nannying absolutely is not just playing with kids all day, even if that’s all you ask your nanny to do. What subconscious bias could be giving you the perception that bringing up children is less difficult and of less value than screwing pipes together? Have you seen The Help? Don’t answer, just think.)
Plumbers make average $28/hr in the states, mechanics $26, for nannies it’s $20 (and that’s being generous). That’s a ¢70 on the dollar comparison. It is time we all realise that nannying is an underpaid and undervalued role and work to change that. If the wage being offered across the board better matched the value of the work, I think one would find a lot more serious nannies and a lot more current nannies taking the job more seriously.
I didn’t get it at first, why so many nannies at the park seemed so burnt out and disinterested in the kids. Oh boy do I get it now. I want nothing more than to do my best in this role, but in the past few months after nearly being stiffed by NP, not receiving a bonus from them when I really thought I would, and overall realising I am being taken advantage of and am a human mine to them, I have realised that I can no longer put my all into this job for my own health and sanity. Being properly compensated is the primary motivating aspect of all work especially in the society we are a part of. After loosing my sense of respect from NP, I’ve lost most of the non-financial motivation I started out with and am left with what little motivation my petite pay check gives me, and the kids can tell.
Since my fallout with NP, I have pulled back emotionally from the kids. I’m not mean and I am still doing every responsibility in my contract to the letter (and then some still), but I am no longer as emotionally available to them as I was. I am shorter and more curt with them, I don’t take as much time with them to sit and talk about every feeling they have, and I’m not working as hard to help them break the bad habits NP give them that NP specifically ask me to break (one example - NP want NK to walk everywhere with me but then always use the stroller with NP and every time we go out it’s a fight to use the stroller or not. Guess who’s been using the stroller far more often lately). Anyway, the past week my NK 3f has been quietly crying before her nap and I’m sure it’s because she’s felt me pull away from her. It’s breaking my heart and I’ve been trying to give her extra cuddles, but I have to protect myself first now. This is a job and these aren’t my kids and I can no longer rationalise putting them first emotionally especially considering I am burnt TF out, torn down, and left feeling used up and tossed aside without any recognition or proper thanks for NP.
I don’t know what the perfect number is, the number I would say many NP would probably think is too high, and maybe they’re not looking for a nanny who works as hard as I and others do. But I can tell you that $17/hr before taxes in a VHCOL area does not even come CLOSE. I think we can all easily recognise that the financial value of this job needs to better match the value of the work, in general and across the board. We’re talking about the people caring for and raising the future generations here, I mean how is this not the most coveted role in our society?
This is my Roman Empire and I will die on this hill every. single. time.

2024.06.01 12:51 Ok_Professor_5519 Belgium ou Portugal?

Hi everyone, I just received a job offer to relocate to Belgium and I'm concerned if it's a good choice moving there. I'm a software engineer with almost 2y of experience and I receive around 2.5k gross, with home allowance (45€) transport (74€), life and health insurance, and 100% remote in PT. The offer is:
EDIT: I would work 40 hours and have these hours converted into PTO.
Cons of this: I know Belgium can be quite grey. Missing family and friends. Relocation overall. Can I get something better in Portugal? PS. I am also in other recruitment processes, that's why I am also concerned. Thanks ;)

2024.06.01 12:44 Efficient-Value-1665 Terrible analysis from RTE Brainstorm on home ownership vs renting

https://www.rte.ie/brainstorm/2024/0530/1451490-ireland-homeownership-millennials-investment/
O’Sullivan compares the costs of owning (with a mortgage) to renting over 30 years.
Owning: she claims this will cost EUR600,000 over 30 years - approx. EUR20,000 per year. Since you are left with an illiquid asset worth around EUR400,000, the net cost is 200,000. Going into retirement, you need not pay rent.
Renting: to make the maths work, she claims renting at EUR1,000 per month for 30 years with no other costs could leave the renter with a pension worth EUR400,000. This is a more liquid asset, but the renter must continue to pay rent.
My take: the author has completely disregarded inflation and the time value of money. This is perhaps excusable in a popular piece for RTE, though it greatly distorts the analysis. Even allowing for this, I think there are important details left out. The monthly cost of a mortgage is fixed, rent is not. In 1994, one could rent a 3 bed house in Drumcondra for £95 per week, or approx. EUR500 per month. A similar house would cost at least EUR2,000 now. So the cost of rental increased fourfold over 30 years (in nominal terms). Here's a link where I found the £95 figure:
https://www.thejournal.ie/rent-1990s-different-times-better-cheaper-more-money-1968583-Mar2015/
Accepting that one was lucky enough to find a 3-bed house to rent for EUR1,000 and that the cost of rent increased fourfold over 30 years. Rental costs would be in excess of EUR700,000, approx. EUR100,000 more expensive than the cost of purchasing the home outright. Landlords use rental income to cover the cost of their mortgage and also expect to turn some profit, so rents are always higher than mortgage repayments. This is the more likely outcome for a lifetime renter, leaving them poorer than the homeowner, as they go into retirement, still needing to pay for accommodation every month.
Astonishingly bad analysis by the author. Apparently she's a lecturer in accounting at TUD - you'd expect better from someone teaching this stuff. (It'd be bad form to reference the EUR10 million hole in TUD's budget here, but I can't resist.)
Someone's going to mention rent pressure zones, or inflation, or time value of money. Yes - I kept it simple. In reality the EUR1000 rent is too low. The analysis will come out in favour of home ownership almost every time.

2024.06.01 12:43 zapzanagan First sudden bout of insomnia

Hi all,
I am a 26 year old male btw. Prior to this bout of insomnia thats been affecting me the past 2 weeks, I am someone who slept 7-8 hours a night regularly, and was out relatively quickly when attempting to sleep. There have been occasions where I couldn't get to sleep in the past, but they would be incredibly infrequent and only last 1 night. I'm someone who fortunately hasn't had to put much effort into my bed time routine, although I have always been quite a healthy person, and also meditate frequently.
That is, until now. I had a couple infrequent nights of sleep back to back, possibly due to stressors in my life. I went through a breakup a month back, and I have a lot on at work. This breakup could be a potential root cause, however I feel like I've processed the pain quite well and the first 2 weeks I didn't really struggle much when getting to sleep. I truly believe I've had 5x the amount of anxiety and stress from external events than I do now and I didn't have sleep issues then.
Despite working on a thorough wind down routine, I get to the point of exhaustion where I feel I am ready to drift off. I do feel a slight sense of dread now at the thought of going to bed, but I believe that I get myself in the mindset where I am pretty clear headed, and trying to avoid thoughts or cares about not sleeping that night. Yet after 10 minutes of attempting to sleep, it's like my sympathetic nervous system activates, my heart starts beating faster, I feel a pit in my stomach, I heat up. Then I'll be awake until about 5-6am, despite waking up at 8am every day for the past 2 weeks (I've been attempting the CBT-I stuff). I've tried melatonin, and I think this helps with sleep timing a bit as I managed to push back the window in which I get sleepy at least, but it doesn't seem like the solution, only an aid. I've also tried to meditate whilest going through this feeling to see if I could rationalise it, and understand it better, or whether there is something external causing this state of panick. But nothing seems rational. My thoughts are that I've somehow contracted some sort of dysautonomia or other illness that is attacking my nervous system. Once I do actually fall asleep the first time, I rarely wake up again, and in the morning I am shattered, as if I can sleep longer - I think this is potentially a good sign, however I know that if I indulge in sleeping in during the day then I won't sleep the entire next night (also work!)
I am really scared of the fact that I've been averaging 3 hours sleep for the past 2 weeks, as I've never been nearly so sleep deprived. I know that sleep deprivation is dangerous, and I'm scared of this spiraling into other health complications. I'm considering trying ant anxiety meds before bed, or maybe some sleeping pills.
Does what I'm going through sound familiar? Do you think it could be my nervous system malfunctioning? Does anyone have any advice? I have a business trip next week for 5 days, and I'm hopeful that a new sleeping environment might reset me.

2024.06.01 12:42 Apeacefulmc79 Work from home or not

I’m moving back in with my parents due to a divorce and the HCOL where I am. My parents said I can stay and not worry about rent. I currently make 52k a year. With rent and expenses, I have no savings and about 25k in debt. I also have no degree or marketable skills.
My mom has health issues and needs assistance. I can work from home taking care of her but it only pays $14.00 an hour. But that will allow me time to take classes online, take my daughter to school and be there for my mom. I will essentially be in the same spot financially since I won’t be paying rent anymore.
So should I work from home with mom with a pay cut to take classes or try to find something similar to what I do now? In the area she lives in, I will make less than my currently salary because of the lower cost of living.

2024.06.01 12:40 killmeayer My local animal control office is sending a $800 citation to my neighbor. Being a Karen paid off.

We need to start advocating more for our own pets and our communities safety as a whole by reporting unleashed pitbulls to our local animal control offices. If your state has a law requiring dogs to be leashed, please take advantage of it by calling animal control.
At first, they sent the dog owner a warning letter. Then 2 weeks later when i called back saying the dog is still unleashed, they visited the owners apartment in person to give them a verbal warning. Of course the owner didnt answer the door even though the officer said he though the owner was at home. So they left a letter notifying them theyd get a citation if they didnt leash. After that, this pit owner finally got his pitbull a collaleash but heres the kicker, the dude just holds the leash in his hand but not actually using it while he walked the dog.
When i saw that, i luckily had a chance to get pictures of him still walking unleashed and i submitted the pictures yesterday to the officer handling my case. Then the officer asked me "would you like me to go visit him again with a warning or would you like us to write him a $800 citation"? I definitely told him the citation because im tired of not being able to walk my dog or myself in peace.
Im not sure if the owner will now use the leash but only time will tell. The point is if there are leash laws in your county/state, please take advantage of them so we can better protect our humans/dogs. Im tired of unleashed pits being everywhere. Im about to report another neighbor that does the same thing but i dont see them outside as often.

2024.06.01 12:38 Igne0usr0gue I don't get the "autism is not a mental disorder, it's a neurological one" rhetoric

Okay? Why do ppl lose their shit whenever someone calls autism a mental disability or disorder? Who cares? Ppl are very quick to correct ppl whenever anyone calls them that. Lolll lemme explain
You can use whatever word you want, neurological, mental, cognitive, cuz at the end of the day, it's all still related to the brain anyways. Autism affects your brain, so you have every right to call it whatever you want. It's not like you can open up your skull to show ppl where it is exactly disabled anyways. "But neurological, mental and cognitive are still different terms in medical sense" yeah, but to the average normal population isn't aware of the differences between the words, so it doesn't matter. Plus it's not their business to know the EXACT details of ones condition, that's up to doctors and professionals. I don't understand the autism community's obsession with wanting the whole population to use very complex scientific language in their vocabulary. Like same with "stimming", just a short form of the scientific term self stimulatory behavior. Ppl get so corrective whenever a neurodivergent person calls their self stimulatory behavior "fidgeting". Ppl don't have to be scientists about a condition, especially and even if they have it themselves
"But unlike other mental disorders, autism is disabling" Yep, in that case ALL mental disorders are disabling in some way or the other, even general depressive disorder. The only difference is that autism takes place very early in life to the point it affects normal development, and it needs more help for it early on (tho a lot of us get missed so oh well sucks for us)
"But mental illnesses are curable and autism isn't" and a lot of mental disorders are not curable, just because many can be medicated and be managed through therapy or reduce in severity, doesn't mean you god rid of it entirely.
And, my perspective from a late daignosed individual, to me my autism daignosis felt just like another mental illness daignosis. To me, my autism is just another mental illness in the clusterfuck that is my current mental health. Plus, I have high functioning/low support autism, if I was daignosed before dsm 5 I'd have totally gotten a aspergers daignosis. Where I'm from, my level of autism is not taken seriously, and to general public, as a adult, it is considered far from a disability of any kind. So ppl very much refer to it as just another mental illness. It's not correct and I'm not defending my cultures ideas, but to me, my autism is still seen as a mental illness
And I'm not denying it being a disability, it is, but you can call it any kind of disability as long as it's related to brain. In my eyes, it is all three, a mental illness, a mental disorder and a mental disability. I call mine all three.

MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is set to approve a bill increasing teaching supplies allowance from P5,000 to P10,000 starting School Year (SY) 2025-2026 in a ceremonial signing into law on Monday.
This was revealed to the public last Thursday night through an invitation sent by the Presidential Legislative Liason Office to ACT Teachers party-list Rep. France Castro.
The ceremonial re-enactment of the signing into law of the "Kabalikat sa Pagtuturo Act" is set for June 3, 2024 at the Malacañan Palace in Manila. The letter was signed by PLLO Secretary Mark Llandro Mendoza.
"After a long fought battle to increase the Teaching Supplies Allowance (or chalk allowance) of teachers, the 'Kabalikat sa Pagtuturo Act' is now a law, hiking the current P5,000 teaching supplies allowance to P10,000," said the party in Filipino.
"This law was first filed by the ACT Teachers Party-list in 2011 and was brought to the forefront for years before being officially passed into law."
Teachers have long been clamoring for the said increase since the current allowance couldn't cover all the expenses needed to buy enough chalk, erasers, forms and other classroom suppplies. As a result, educators have been taking out money from their own pockets.
Said party-list spearheaded the most recent measure in the House of Representatives, which was later on passed in December 2023, with their approved version providing for P7,500 for SY 2024-2025 and P10,000 for SY 2025-2026 onwards.
Its counterpart bill in Senaate was likewise passed in May 2023. However, only P5,000 haas been granted for SY 2024-2025 in the reconciled Senate Bill 1964 and House Bill 9682 of the Bicameral Conference Committee.
It was officially transmitted to the Office of the President last May 3, 2024.
'Proof that collective action works'
In a separate statement, the Alliance of Concerneed Teachers (ACT) Philippines last Friday attributed the bill's passage to the tireless efforts of teachers and progressive supporters.
"This is proof that we could achieve victories through collective action alongside our genuine representatives inside the Congress, the ACT Teachers Party-list, who since 2011 have filed the bill seeking for the increase of teaching supplies allowance for our public school teachers," said Vladimer Quetua, ACT chairperson.
"Teachers have long been spending their own money for school supplies. Yearly, we take out a huge amount from our own pockets to fix classrooms. This includes teaching aid costs that we use for the benefit of children."
ACT likewise reiterated its call for a salary increase, including a P50,000 entry-level pay for teachers, P33,000 salary for salary grade 1 employees, SG16 for Instructor 1 in state universities and colleges, and P33,000 national minimum wage for all workers.

2024.06.01 12:37 palpoonchy Is this normal? I feel like I can't relate with many people

Ok so first things first, I am well acquainted with abuse and abusers, grew up in a very abusive family, except for s*xual abuse I went through everything else with them, of course this led me to see abuse as normal behavior, most kids bullied me, some close friends took advantage of my spineless behavior, and later on, I had abusive romantic partners.
Not all of them were, of course, but the ones that were I can think back and see the red flags I missed, eventually I went to therapy and kind of learned how to see them better, all that stuff.
Then comes my last ex. He was, well, great. He was attentive, kind, generous, his family welcomed me as a new addition from the first day, it all seemed too good to be true. The thing is, with other abusers, this façade would soon collapse, they weren't able to sustain it for long, but my ex seemed to really be like this, the only shady thing I can think of his past self it that he's always been very secretive about his emotions and repressed them way too much.
After about a year and a half of dating, several things happened, quarantine was one of them, my mental health decline was the other. I tried meds for the first time, it backfired and left me su*cidal for months, I had agoraphobia and went back to being terrified of people. That's when the silent treatment and refusing to get intimate with me and all the arguing began. His point was that he was okay with supporting me with my mental health stuff, as long as it got better and not worse, I tried to explain to him that sometimes things do get worse and there's nothing I can possibly do about it, he would get angrier and say that either I got "cured" or he would leave.
You can imagine how fragile I was back then, terrified of my friends,of going outside, I went back to my mom's house because of covid and had to deal with her abuse again, he felt like the only person I could trust. Even if I knew everything he was saying about mental illnesses was plain wrong, I chose to stick with him because he genuinely sounded like he wanted the best for me.
But everything only got worse, of course, his own life got harder, he was a sheltered kid that never worked or lived on his own, I on the other hand have been working ever since I was 17, we moved in together and you guessed it, it got even worse.
He was doing an unpaid internship where he would mostly observe others work instead of doing something himself, I worked part time because I wanted a little break from working 7am to 4pm for so long, so he was basically living off me and his parents, I also did most of the housework because he'd be there for so long, he didn't even have to, but he was there all day. Not only he never thanked me but he would belittle me for working part time and criticized my cooking, he was a picky eater and was used to his mom adapting to him so I had no idea this was a thing, he hated all veggies and everything that wasn't basically soup or meat and rice/potatoes. We both got folic acid deficiency from this btw, so I'm not exaggerating.
At some point my brain just gave up, I was so incredibly exhausted all the time, physically and mentally. Thank goodness I had the decision to go on a solo vacation with friends after being isolated for years and that's when I realized how badly I was being treated, by being around people who didn't treat me badly. This was last summer, as soon as I got home, the first thing I did was trying to talk to him, and knowing he wouldn't be reasonable, I knew I would have to leave him.
At this point we hadn't gotten intimate in over a year, he refused sleeping with me and would only talk to me to berate me. We argued very often, he was angry all the time, I was on edge all the time, I constantly had panic and anxiety attacks, he would treat me specially bad during these, and when I begged him for a hug sometimes he even hit me.
This was almost a year ago and I'm still broken. My memory is broken, my cognitive functions are half there, I am numb most days, can't feel a thing, not good nor bad, just can't feel, no matter what I do. I am incredibly depressed and don't have the will to do anything. I found someone great who is supportive and amazing in more ways than I can count, found great friends and rekindled friendships I left unattended because of my ex, and still I can't be there for them, not really, because I am not really here most of the time, went to therapy but can't yet afford trying EMDR (will be able soon, after I move from here) and I can't learn anything more from my therapist, it's also expensive. I quit my job and am living off my savings and unemployment, went back to one of my hobbies he used to belittle and criticize so much, I've been hired for collaborations right away and I am in several projects and I can't give my all and feel like I am disappointing people and most importantly myself all the time.
I miss the old me so bad, the one that's trapped beneath this impenetrable armor, and even though things have gotten kind of better, I hate being this fragile, quiet, soft person, when I used to be the polar opposite, I have nothing against quiet and soft people, I love them, it just feels wrong for me.
It took me a lot of work but before dating this idiot for almost 5 years, I got to be this extroverted, fun and warm person that had a million friends and was incredibly energetic, I used to be super physically active, went to a lot of social events, I had so many hobbies and was starting to carve wood. He took it all, and I have no idea how.
As I said at the start of this post, abuse is my whole life. No matter how much my family told me I sucked, they never took the fun out of things for me, if anything, it gave me that spark, that "I'll do what I want!" inner Cartman. No matter how much I was bullied or belittled by others, it never broke me, I was pretty much used to it. But this guy did.
Whenever I talk about toxic relationships with friends or people I meet, it's always kind of the same, "oh we were not compatible at all and refused to accept it haha" or "they were abusive from the start I just didn't know how abuse worked!" but I haven't found someone that went through the same thing as me, someone who's ex was perfect and then became abusive and disgusting, I left a lot out of it for the sake of brevity but his political views and overall morality changed a lot during all this.
I don't know how coherent this is, kinda need to vent , thanks to whoever read it at all, good luck with your own struggles ♥

2024.06.01 12:35 CreepyPalpitation902 Femto Lasik experience(Post day 1)

I(28M) have been using glasses since i was 5 y.o. I never used any lens nor any types of eye drops before. I believe 2 years ago my eyes stopped getting worse. I decided to get the surgery and doc suggested to do femto lasik. Just before surgery i had: Right eye: -6.5 myopia, -0.5 astigmatism, cornea t. 521 Left eye: -5.75 myopia, -0.75 astigmatism, cornea t. 520
Surgery was same as what everyone says here but mine took a bit longer than what i have read, people says it takes about 4 mins or so but for me, i think it took around 10 mins. It might be my fault because i had this urge close my eyes and my eyes felt very sensitive even after they put this eye drop to not feel. Doc tells me to look at the light but it was too much, it felt like i was looking at the sun directly. Maybe i moved my eye ball too much.It might be cause i never used any lens or drops before maybe i was too sensitive with my eyes.
I would say surgery is not painful at all but very discomforting. Surgery finished and doc said it went all good and sent me home. They told me i will feel some pain/burning after the surgery for about 3 to 4 hours.
When i arrive at home i took a painkiller and did my 2 eye drops and went straight to bed. Overall i dont think i had any pain nor burning at all, i could say i had 1/10 pain wise maybe even less.
I woke up next day and had my checkup 15-16 hours after the surgery. Doc checked my eye with the device(the one with the house and green field) and told me both eyes are now 0. Removed the contact lens that he put at the end of surgery for protection. I did the letter test as well i had 20/20 vision.
So far i am very happy and have no discomfort, no pain, no dry eyes just a little blurry but doc said it will get better as it was not even 24 hours after surgery. Note that my vision was very very bad before surgery so the result might not feel the same for everyone. For me i was already seeing %50 better when i just got up from the surgery table.
I had the surgery in Turkey(Türkiye) and paid total of 42500 tl(1215€).
I will update when i get my next checkup or if anything happens.

🔗WWII Era Walther P.38 Replica Pistol by Denix

I recently got my hands on the Denix Replicas 1081 Walther P. 38 Automatic Pistol and I have to say, it's a real treat for history enthusiasts! The detailed recreation of this iconic WWII weapon is impressive, and it's not just for show. It's heavier than one might expect, which gives it a solid feel in the hand. The pistol-like click of the slide and the smoothness of the mechanism make it a joy to handle, even if it's not fireable.
However, there are some minor drawbacks, like the fact that the slide doesn't lock back and the magazine can't be removed. But considering this is a replica for display purposes rather than practical use, it's not much of a hindrance. It's a conversation starter and a great way to add a piece of history to your collection.

I recently had the pleasure of getting my hands on this book, "The Colt M1911 . 45 Automatic Pistol: M1911, M1911A1, Markings, Variants, Ammunition, Accessories [Book]". Being a gun enthusiast, I was eager to dive into the world of this iconic pistol.
What stood out to me was the detailed information on the M1911's design, manufacturing, and testing. The book takes you on a journey through its combat use in various wars, with more than 370 images that provide a visual breakdown of the weapon. The serial numbers list and the visuals of the weapon's markings were particularly fascinating.
The section on accessories like magazines, ammunition, holsters, and cleaning kits was a nice touch, adding to the overall comprehensive nature of the book. I found the combat-related uniform and equipment items to be of special interest.
However, one drawback I encountered was the inconsistency in the captions of some photos. I was expecting a more complete reference on some of the markings and stampings. Despite this, the book still managed to impress me with its wealth of data and images.
Despite its relatively short length, "The Colt M1911 . 45 Automatic Pistol: M1911, M1911A1, Markings, Variants, Ammunition, Accessories [Book]" is a must-have for anyone interested in the history and development of this legendary firearm. The high-quality images and detailed information make it a valuable addition to any library.

The Ed Brown 1911 housing is a fine example of the dedication to precision and quality that makes this brand stand out. As a seasoned gun enthusiast, I've come to appreciate the meticulous attention to detail that goes into crafting these firearms. With this product, I especially noticed the superior components and expert machining that made the gun feel smooth and well-balanced. The mag well housing, in particular, added an element of sophistication to my 1911 replica.
While the Ed Brown 1911 housing is an excellent choice for those seeking top-notch performance, there are a few potential downsides to consider. One is the price point, which may be prohibitive for some users. Additionally, while the housing is designed for durability, it's essential to take proper care of it to ensure its longevity. All in all, the Ed Brown 1911 housing is an exceptional product that delivers on promises of quality and craftsmanship.

🔗Antique 1911 Replica Manual: Ascar War Department Automatic Pistol, Caliber.45

This "Basic Field Manual" is a fascinating look into the history of the United States War Department Automatic Pistol, Caliber. 45 M1911 and M1911a1, providing a unique insight into the mechanics and usage of these iconic weapons. Despite being a facsimile reprint, the book offers an authentic experience, with its antiquated charm showcasing imperfections like marks, notations, and marginalia. The pocket-sized field manual, measuring at 9 inches in length and just a quarter inch thick, is perfect for on-the-go reference.
The language is crisp and clear, making it easy for anyone to understand the intricate details of the pistols. It also comes with detailed diagrams, which make it easier to visualize the workings of the weapon. Although the book's condition might not be ideal, the information it provides is invaluable for any collector or history enthusiast.
Overall, this "Basic Field Manual" might be flawed in appearance, but it's well worth the read for anyone fascinated by history or military firearms.

🔗World War I and II Era 1911 Webley Revolver Replica

As a history buff, I was drawn to the Denix Webley Revolver replica, with its ties to the Indiana Jones movies. The first thing that struck me was its weight, which made it feel like a real gun. The details were incredibly accurate, right down to the checkered grip and the engraving on the barrel.
However, I found it a bit disappointing that the break-open action didn't work. It may be a minor issue for some, but for me, it took away a bit of the authenticity.
Nevertheless, it's a great display piece and does justice to its historical origins.

🔗Patriotic 1911 Replica Model with Blue Pattern Grips

This "Uncle Sam" miniature model is an incredible tribute to the USA, perfect for those who want to show their patriotism. As I slowly started putting the pieces together, I found the assembly process to be surprisingly easy and enjoyable. The 1:2.5 scale model is a fantastic representation of the iconic 1911 pistol, with authentic features such as working thumb safety, slide actions, and magazine release.
The model's realistic design caught my attention right away, from its Old Glory Blue pattern grips to the intricate details on the closed barrel. It's clear that the creators paid attention to every aspect of the gun, ensuring that this replica is as accurate as possible. However, the hard-to-find bullets might be a minor inconvenience for some users.
Overall, I'm impressed by the quality and attention to detail of this miniature 1911 USA tribute model. It's a unique and fun addition to any collection, and the ease of assembly is a big plus.
