Just wanna get this off my chest

2024.06.01 12:24 Aggravating_Bet976 Just wanna get this off my chest

Hello!! Posting here to vent bc I have no one to talk to about my worries (and yapping about my problem could help me cope while waiting for the release of the promo boards)
I'm from that aurora school. Finals are done and Im cant help but feel uneasy about my grades, especially towards a certain subject from the holy trinity. I am doing fairly well on other two subjects, so I am not that worried about them.
As of LE5, my grade fell into the danger zone (73.2) and I got 1-3 points off the MPL for LE6. Most likely, my grade would have maintained or got a bit lower pa.
As for the finals, I want to say i did well bc I was able to answer most of the questions, but I am not so confident of the grade I'll get bc of the super high MPL that they have set. The higher the MPL, the lower the transmusted grade it corresponds to. I need to be at least 30 points above the MPL just to be safe, based on my computation.
Is there any chance they would give a bonus or curve or plus point or anything?? I just need a small stepping stone in the right direction and I can make it to 2nd year safely. It doesnt seem ethical at all to cut us by half, especially since our initial numbers got lesser when a hundred of us either LOA or withdrew their enrollment. (Im sorry huhu the bargaining is strong in me. I have skipped the first two stages of grief and found myself here).
My grade feels so close, yet so far away from passing. It also doesnt help that they wont round off the final grade if ever u get within 74.5 to 74.9%. It really sucks to be in the waiting game. I am bracing myself for the worst already but I am scared of telling my parents the possibility of me failing (as a first gen doctor in a family of businessmen). I cant eat, sleep, or do anything properly.
Overall, its really frustrating and overwhelming, knowing that a certain dept is really hell bent on cutting us by half (its like an open secret among us freshies) and sadly, i am part of the half they want to remove. I've always wanted to be a doctor so much that I didnt even think to have a plan B. If I fail, I dont think i can handle going through another year of this again.

2024.06.01 12:06 Avondran Neuropsych testing came back negative [24F]

Tried to post in the ADHD subreddit but my post wasn’t working for some reason so here I am 😊
Hello everyone, I’m very sad and frustrated because my ADHD evaluation came back negative. I got neuropsychological testing done and he suggested I have persistent depressive disorder and anxiety. I don’t feel like I’m depressed since I still enjoy things I like to do. The thing is that I’ve been on anxiety meds but they made me feel numb so I got off of them. I still could only hold on to my job for a year as a special ed teacher with a mental health break (fmla). So when I explained to my doctor I think there’s something else going on she just gave me a different anxiety med. I loved working with special needs kids but everything else made it hell. My therapist said it’s because I was a teache fast food worker only so I haven’t had a chance to find a job I like. Fair but I also struggled in college: constantly being late and almost dropping out even though I think I’m smart.
As a kid I daydreamed and was buried in books. I had a hard time making friends and was very shy and anxious but was gifted. Social anxiety has gotten better as an adult but I still feel like I never fit in. I have to write everything down or I will forget it, I hate getting ready in the morning for work and want to do stuff but it’s hard for me to get myself to do it. I fixate on foods in cycles it’s really weird and didn’t understand until I learned about adhd. I have sensory issues but don’t know if that is an adhd thing. I can obsess over certain things and then get bored super quickly. I had a job as a 5th grade teacher and quit within 2 weeks because I was so overstimulated and could not for the life of me figure out how I was going to execute these lessons and be organized for grading of 28 kids.
I bite my nails until they are bleeding and also have a hard time concentrating on driving and my online schooling. I find the everyday tasks of getting ready, working and then coming home and cleaning and cooking takes so much effort. My working memory was in the 23rd percentile while everything else was average. But he said it was my anxiety affecting my working memory. Two of my sisters have ADHD. I’m so tired of being dismissed by everybody. Im not trying to self diagnose and maybe i am just lazy or have something else. Maybe C-PTSD? All I know is that I need help. I mask and seem normal to everyone in my life, so maybe I am making everything up. Sorry for the long rant. Should I get a second opinion or do all my symptoms sound like depression? Please be nice I am sensitive lol.

2024.06.01 11:46 tropicalstrudel Creepy Stranger

It was around 9-10pm back when I was in 1st/2nd grade. My older sister and I were playing in the living room. We were sitting on the floor in a way that I was facing the window. My dad always does a „night check“ making sure the doors and windows are locked before we all go to bed. And this is usually after he goes outside for a quick smoke. That night, while playing, I saw a silhouette of a man wearing a cap standing right outside the window just looking at us while we were playing. Mind you, this window was just right next to our door which was unlocked so I assumed that was my dad just smoking outside. But he wasn’t moving or anything so I said enthusiastically „hi dad!“. The silhouette moved to show a shushing manner (finger in front of mouth) as if telling me not to say anything. My sister, confused, turned around then looked back at me in horror and said that our dad is in the bedroom. I ran to the bedroom and my dad was indeed inside reading a newspaper chatting with my mum. The person ran away. My dad tried to run after him but he was gone fast. We didn’t have CCTV. We never found out who it was. Since then, I’ve always been anxious about locking doors just in case.

2024.06.01 11:39 markwallwork75 2 Year Update

So last week marked then 2nd anniversary of the fateful day I went into the local family clinic in Holmfirth England and had my life changed in 10 minutes. Here is an over view of various aspects and how they have changed over 2 years
  1. Pain. Far less than the first 6 to 7 months or so. When I was in constant agony with left sided nerve pain. However I have cycles. First 6 months awful. Winter 22 up to Jan 23 practically went away . Was sitting at work again. Jan 23 to March 23 pain on the right side and noticeable lump started. Very painful, and painful to ejaculate . Subsequently diagnosed as a sperm granola which has since gone . May 23-sep 23 return of left side pulling pain coinciding with summer and testes descending . Sep 23-Nov 23 little to no pain . Nov23 to Dec 23 rolled onto my front in a hotel bed asleep and up with sucking nerve type pain in my right for 1 month. Dec 23 to feb 23 some left side pain . Booked reversal see below . March 23 to may 23 slipped a disc in my neck. Agony . 9/10 on pain scale. Testicle pain was absent as brain was concentrated on greater pain . Now. Neck pain subsiding . Constant feeling on ache or fullness in both testicles with left being worse
  2. Emotions. A rollercoaster . I’m living my life now and getting on with it . First 6 months was suicidal, second 12 months varied from grief to extreme anger directed at the doctor who performed my op. Now I’ve settled . I want to get back to normal but am starting to forget what normal feels like
  3. Medication . Tried coedine for first 3 months . Now been on amlytryptline for 18 months 20 to 10 mg a day. Does it do anything ? Not sure he,ps me sleep and I think it’s helped my depression . Would like to come off it
  4. Sex. Still enjoyable but orgasm release doesn’t feel complete . Am not sure if this mental or physical. I no longer ejaculate daily probably 2 to 3 times a week otherwise it’s sore
  5. Future. Reversal was booked at best life for oct. I’m deferring to next year to allow my slipped disc to fully heal .
  6. Life style . I’m back on my bike and go to gym. Can only do 1 hour max though. Still find cinema painful and have to do reclining seats at showcase . Running has stopped . I use a stand up desk at work (although this is for back and groin ). Done some physio for tight pelvic floor which helps.
Summary. I’m a lot better . Do I want to stay like this? No. Am I terrified of reversal yes but also really keen on feeling reconnected. Is the pain the worst I’ve had? No as the slipped disc put it into context . Will update in 12 months !

🔗Comfortable 1911 Inside Waistband Holster for Threaded Barrels

https://preview.redd.it/7pi8efn5kx3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=474eb0fdecb6ec685511d00a9b6e8d0a7e1d2700
C&G's Covert IWB holster quickly became a staple in my daily life. The first thing that caught my eye was the solid feel of the Kydex material. It's a bit heavier than some other holsters I've tried, but this adds to the confidence that my firearm is securely held in place. The open bottom design is a game-changer - it fits threaded barrels and compensators like a glove, and offers compatibility with most RMRed Dots on the market. I particularly appreciate the customization options available for fit and attachment, which make it a perfect match for my carry needs.
The slight discomfort I've experienced while wearing the Covert IWB holster is the only downside I've noticed. After wearing it for a few hours, I feel a bit of pressure on my hip. It's not unbearable, but it is worth mentioning. Overall, the positives far outweigh the negatives, and I highly recommend this holster to anyone in the market for an IWB 1911 holster.

🔗Carry Comfortably with Versacarry's Quality 1911 Holster

https://preview.redd.it/8euk7z86kx3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=687e8a7de1de4289ed9723de97ca78137e8f2939
Last week, I had an interesting experience with the Versacarry Compound holster. I was at the range, trying to practice with my 1911, when I realized my holster wasn't the greatest for my needs. So, I swapped it for this one, and let me tell you - it's been a game changer.
First off, the material is premium water buffalo leather. It's softer than most plastic holsters but holds up better against wear and tear. Plus, it has a raised protective backing and metal inlay for extra rigidity. It's like having a little bodyguard for your gun.
I also appreciate the fit. This right-handed holster fits my 1911 perfectly, and it's comfortable to wear. It hugs my waist just right, without digging into my side. Now, practicing at the range is a breeze, as I can focus on my aim, instead of fidgeting with my holster.
The stitching is industrial-grade bonded nylon thread, so you know it's made to last. But don't just take my word for it - Versacarry even made sure it's made in the USA.
However, there are a few things I'd like to point out. The holster is only compatible with certain handguns, and I had to return my first one because it didn't fit my pistol correctly. Also, if you're using it for open carry, it might be a bit too conspicuous for my liking. Lastly, there were a couple of minor issues with the holster's design, but it didn't affect the overall experience.
In conclusion, the Versacarry Compound holster has become my daily sidekick at the range. Its quality, comfort, and ease of use make it a versatile and reliable partner for my 1911. And with a rating of 3.9, it seems other users have also had similar experiences.

🔗Comfortable Chest-Mounted 1911 Holster for Maximum Support

I recently had the chance to try out the Crossbreed Chest Rig Holster for my 1911-Founders, and let me tell you, it's a breath of fresh air when it comes to holding on to heavier pistols. The holster's thick leather backer provides excellent support, while the soft suede lining ensures that it's always comfy against the body.
What really sets this holster apart is the multiple points of retention adjustment. You can really make it work for you, thanks to the three different straps. The adjustability makes it a perfect fit, no matter how your body is built.
While some might argue that the holster might be a bit too noticeable for everyday carry, I've been genuinely impressed with its performance and versatility. It's definitely worth considering when you're looking for a reliable chest rig for your firearm.

🔗Eco Leather Concealed Carry Holster for 1911 Guns

https://preview.redd.it/3p28v7uakx3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=165d5c06326ad3d85e1ce9b4c6ee36ff069c10e7
I recently had the chance to try out the IWB Gun Holster with Mag Pouch by Houston. This concealed carry holster is made with eco-leather, making it a great choice for those who value sustainability. The holster is designed with comfort in mind, fitting around your waist with ease. It also features a soft suede lining for extra protection for your gun.
One of the best parts of this holster is the sturdy metal clip that ensures your gun stays secure throughout the day. I found it to be a reliable choice when I needed to be on the move. However, on hot summer days, the holster can get a bit sweaty, so it might not be the best choice for intense outdoor activities.
Overall, the IWB Gun Holster with Mag Pouch by Houston is a solid choice for anyone looking for a comfortable and reliable concealed carry option. The eco-leather and soft suede lining provide excellent features for keeping your gun safe, while the metal clip ensures it remains secure throughout the day. However, be mindful of the potential for sweat build-up in hot weather.

🔗Sig Sauer 1911 ProTuck Holster - Adjustable, Lightweight IWB Concealment

https://preview.redd.it/bqop4mcbkx3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=43da6bf13ae2ef010c060618e72dd78df213473a
The Vedder Holsters ProTuck for a Sig Sauer 1911 without rail offers an exceptional inside the waistband (IWB) experience, providing superior concealment and comfort in one package. The hybrid holster is meticulously crafted from premium leather and form-fitted Kydex, creating a secure and personalized fit for your firearm. Its natural hugging of your body and adjustable retention make it a standout option.
However, I found the weight distribution to be slightly top-heavy, which may require some adjustments. The limited number of color options could also be a drawback for those seeking a more unique look. Nonetheless, the holster's lightweight design, durability, and lifetime guarantee are all noteworthy features that make this a top contender in the market.

🔗Bravo Concealment Torsion 1911 IWB Holster with Adjustable Retention

https://preview.redd.it/0zlc3mvbkx3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=896ef85e086e6a40586144ebfb16a0182b8ff98d
I recently became a fan of the Bravo Concealment Adaptive IWB concealed carry holster for my trusty 1911. This holster has been a game-changer in my daily carry routine, thanks to its adjustable retention, which feels secure yet accessible at the same time.
The polymer injection mold is absolutely impressive—it ensures a perfect fit for my 1911 without adding any unnecessary bulk. The torsion technology also helps conceal the gun by twisting it slightly inward, making it effortlessly blend with my wardrobe.
One of my favorite features of this holster is the comfortable fit; it feels like a second skin without any discomfort or irritation. Plus, the holster retains its shape for smooth one-handed re-holstering. The tuckable clip is another added convenience, allowing me to effortlessly tuck it under my clothing when needed.
However, there's one aspect I wish could've been improved—the audible clicking sound when re-holstering. It's a bit too loud for my liking, especially if I'm in quieter surroundings. Overall, I'm satisfied with the performance of the Bravo Concealment IWB holster for my 1911. It's a reliable and comfortable option for everyday concealed carry.

🔗Premium 1911 Holster for Right Hand Configuration

https://preview.redd.it/xcyx469ckx3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=01903d8dbc870c5ac7458e0fea2578ef1b08bfbc
While I was out on a shooting range, I decided to try out the Desantis Gunhide Mini Slide Belt Holster for my 1911 pistol. First off, the premium saddle leather and attention to detail were striking. The exposed muzzle design gave it a tight fit, perfect for my gun. I also loved the adjustable-tension device, allowing me to customize the holster's hold.
The only issue I encountered was that the belt slots were a tad too wide for my taste. However, the black and tan unlined leather options added a nice touch. Overall, I found the holster to be a great choice for anyone looking for a well-fitted, comfortable, and stylish companion for their 1911 pistol.

🔗Vintage 1911 Holster: Expertly Crafted for Maximum Security and Comfort

https://preview.redd.it/fqj06jnckx3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c7b8a8c33af557e07cbca41e0ec7fb8e83981880
I recently got my hands on the Texas 1836 Cannon Vintage Edition Open Top OWB Holster. It's a beauty to behold, with its premium full-grain leather design that simply exudes luxury. The handcrafted attention to detail is obvious, making it a perfect fit for my 1911. The double-stitching adds an extra layer of security, and the smooth interior makes for a speedy draw whenever I need it.
While I absolutely love the holster's aesthetics and comfort, I've noticed that it might not be the most versatile option. It's specifically designed for full-size 1911s with no attachments, which means those looking for a more universal option might want to look elsewhere. Nevertheless, for someone looking for a sleek and sturdy holster that's an extension of their style, the Texas 1836 Cannon Vintage Edition is definitely worth considering.

🔗Quality 1911 Optic Ready Leather Holster for Optic and Red Dot Accessories

https://preview.redd.it/wcl9gdyckx3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=126c6958ba1ec54ee4d6874fbbc1a37011641e94
The 1791 Optic Ready 1911 Belt Holster BH1 in Signature Brown is a versatile and reliable choice for those seeking a high-quality belt holster. Crafted using premium 100% Certified American Heavy Native Steerhide leather, this holster exudes durability and comfort.
Its multi-fit design and open top make it an easy choice for your preferred carry-style, accommodating a wide range of firearms. However, the added functionality of the optic cut and the inclusion of a sweat guard or shield give it a slight edge in terms of usability.
The reinforced stitching ensures that the holster remains secure and long-lasting. Despite these pros, the holster may not be the most ideal choice for those looking for a more minimalist or lightweight design.
Overall, the 1791 Optic Ready 1911 Belt Holster BH1 is a solid option for anyone seeking a reliable and feature-rich belt holster.

🔗Comfortable 1911 Right-Hand Tan Holster

https://preview.redd.it/2a1nw8cdkx3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=31ca6ec911636a71be7ac7244867af1f1e4b2fb1
Desantis Cozy Partner 1911 Tan Holster impressed me in many ways. I love its tension mechanism for handgun retention, ensuring that my firearm stays secure in place. However, the memory band, which helps maintain the holster's shape for easy re-holstering, could be improved.
The 1 1/2" split belt loop works well, but I wish it was removable or adjustable for better compatibility with my belt. Another downside is that some models, unfortunately, lack this crucial feature. Overall, as a right-handed firearm enthusiast, this holster has proved useful and practical, but a little more flexibility could enhance my overall experience.

🔗Comfortable and Adjustable 1911 Holsters for Right-Hand Use

https://preview.redd.it/j99ct9udkx3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2788fd6bb46a67e10dc34fac3214be4d34ec9341
As someone who's always on the lookout for innovative gear to make my outdoor activities more efficient, I recently had the chance to try out the Blackpoint Outback Chest System. This chest holster is an excellent alternative to traditional belt and off-body carry when hiking, skiing, or engaging in other activities where your hands are occupied.
The Outback Chest System is crafted with a sleek design and lightweight materials, which makes it comfortable to wear and carry for long periods. The holster is securely attached to a well-designed, adjustable harness system that balances strength and ease of use.
One of the standout features of this chest system is its versatile harness design. The Dynamic Bungee Strap enables greater flexibility for movement, while the Static Buckle Strap ensures a snug and stable fit. The Shoulder Strap allows for easy height adjustments, and the adjustable retention features on the holster ensure a perfect fit for a user's gun.
While I'm not a fan of bulky, cumbersome accessories, the Outback Chest System is not heavy or unwieldy. The balance between comfort and security is well executed in this product. However, for those who prefer a more minimalist approach, it might be worth looking into other options.
In conclusion, the Blackpoint Outback Chest System is a smart and practical choice for gun enthusiasts who need a reliable chest carry option for various outdoor activities. Although not everyone may find it their perfect fit, it deserves kudos for offering an effective solution to the inherent challenges of traditional belt and off-body carry methods.

🔗Cozy Partner Inside-the-Pants Holster for 1911 Government Model

https://preview.redd.it/pc4ezdpfkx3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1c44d060f227eab24d4c092cc2bc86802cf612f1
I recently got my hands on the Desantis Cozy Partner Holster for my trusty Colt Gov Model 1911. Intrigued by its unique design, I eagerly put it to use. The first thing that caught my attention was the tension device. It provided a perfect fit for my handgun, securing it in place like a glove, and I didn't even have to struggle with adjusting the holster.
The memory band that retains the shape of the holster was another great feature. It made re-holstering my handgun super easy and one-handed, which came in handy when I was on the move. The 1 1/2" split belt loop was a convenient addition, ensuring the holster stayed securely in place.
However, there were a couple of hiccups during my experience. The lack of an adjustable belt loop was a bit of a bummer, as it would have been perfect for those of us with smaller belts. Also, the memory band and split belt loop were only available on some models, not all.
Overall, the Desantis Cozy Partner Holster impressed me with its comfortable design, secure fit, and convenient features, despite a few minor drawbacks. If you're looking for a holster that provides both style and function, this might just be the right pick.

🔗Reliable 1911 Springfield 5" (rail) Concealed Carry Holster

https://preview.redd.it/314iavwfkx3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=637f1d73a887ae7a4cf05a5669c2d2e9d01517e1
As someone who has been a firearms enthusiast for years, I was intrigued to try out the 1911 Springfield 5" (Rail) Holster for concealed carry. The first thing that struck me was its lightweight construction, which made it feel incredibly comfortable to wear throughout the day. This holster also proved to be reliable, as it securely held my Springfield 5" in place, even during strenuous activities.
One of the most notable features of this holster is its 1.50" belt loops, which provide a snug fit and stability. However, it did take a bit of time to get the holster to sit just right on my belt, which was a minor inconvenience. All in all, for those seeking a lightweight, reliable, and secure option for concealed carry, the 1911 Springfield 5" (Rail) Holster is a great choice.

🔗Versacarry Element Distressed Brown Leather Holster for 1911 Style Guns with Spare Mag Pocket and Easy Clips

As a reviewer who's tried the Versacarry Element Holster for myself, I can confidently say it's a comfortable and versatile choice for anyone carrying 1911-style guns. The high-quality distressed brown leather not only looks great but also offers excellent protection, allowing me to conceal carry with peace of mind.
The biggest highlight in this holster for me was the adjustable cant and easy-on/off clips. I appreciate that I can customize the holster's angle to suit my carry preferences, which makes my daily carry more ergonomic and comfortable. Additionally, the quick-release clips make it a breeze to access my firearm when needed.
However, there are a couple of downsides that I've noticed during my use. First, the spare magazine storage compartment is quite snug, which can make it difficult to load or unload extra magazines. And second, while the raised protective backing helps shield my skin from cold contact, the holster does tend to slip a bit, especially when I'm moving around briskly.
Overall, the Versacarry Element Holster is an excellent choice for those looking for a comfortable and discreet 1911 holster. Its adjustable cant and quick-release clips make it a standout option, but expect some minor issues with the spare magazine storage and slippage. But if you're willing to overlook these minor flaws, this holster could be a great addition to your daily carry routine.

Buyer's Guide

When it comes to choosing the right 1911 holster, there are several important factors to consider. Here, we'll guide you through some of the most significant aspects of 1911 holsters and provide you with valuable insights to help you make an informed decision.

Material and Durability

https://preview.redd.it/ehcmnciikx3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e15e6568eadbe3afb943227b0ad206bb4e77162e
A good 1911 holster should be made of high-quality materials that can withstand the test of time. Common materials used for 1911 holsters include leather, Kydex, and nylon. Leather holsters offer excellent durability and a natural, classy look but may require more maintenance over time. Kydex and nylon holsters, on the other hand, offer greater durability, resistance to weather, and ease of care.

Retention and Security

Retention is a crucial feature that ensures your 1911 stays securely in its holster when not in use. Consider holsters with adjustable retention systems that allow you to adjust the tension to fit your personal preferences. Furthermore, the holster should have a secure clasp or locking mechanism to prevent accidental falls or drops.

Comfort and Concealment

Comfort is a key factor to consider when choosing a 1911 holster, as you'll likely wear it frequently. Look for a holster that has a smooth interior to minimize friction against your firearm. Additionally, a 1911 holster with a curved base, adjustable cant, or a swivel mechanism can help you achieve better concealment, especially when carrying in the appendix position.

Draw Speed and Access

Draw speed is vital for self-defense and can be affected by various factors such as the style of the holster and the position of the grip. A good holster should allow for quick and easy draws without compromising security. Consider holsters with open-bottom designs, as these often promote faster drawing speeds.

Mounting Options and Fit

There are different methods for attaching 1911 holsters, including belt loops, clips, and clips with belt loops. Choose a holster that suits your preferred method of attachment. Additionally, it's essential to ensure that the holster provides a snug and secure fit for your specific 1911 model. Consider the type of carry position you prefer (e. g. , appendix, side, small of the back) and look for holsters designed for that position.

Brand Reputation and Customer Reviews

https://preview.redd.it/vhu4albjkx3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2fd12eda68259c62a25a56bde7223cfee73fabd5
Do your research on the 1911 holster's brand and customer reviews. A reputable brand with a track record of quality products and satisfied customers can be a good sign. Read reviews to learn about users' experiences with the holster, particularly in terms of fit, durability, and functionality.
Remember that your decision should be based on your personal needs and preferences, as well as the specific requirements of your 1911. By considering these factors, you'll increase your chances of selecting a high-quality 1911 holster that meets your unique demands.

FAQ

Why is a 1911 holster important for gun owners?

A 1911 holster is essential for gun owners who own a 1911 pistol, as it offers a safe and secure way to carry and store their firearm. A high-quality holster protects the pistol from damage, keeps it firmly in place during activities such as shooting or daily carrying, and is readily accessible when needed.

https://preview.redd.it/gx72ersjkx3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c4441965dc413e84286e5328c00c74251a22c6ea

What are some common materials used to make 1911 holsters?

Some common materials used to make 1911 holsters include leather, polymer, and nylon. Leather holsters offer durability and a classic look, while polymer and nylon holsters are lightweight, water-resistant, and provide a faster draw for the user.

What are the key features to look for in a 1911 holster?

  • Secure retention: The holster should hold the 1911 pistol securely while allowing for a quick and easy draw when needed.
  • Comfort: The holster should be comfortable to wear, with minimal friction or pressure points on the user.
  • Durability: The materials and construction of the holster should be rugged and withstand wear and tear, including exposure to the elements.
  • Ambidextrous design: If applicable, the holster should be suitable for both right- and left-handed shooters.

What is the difference between inside-the-waistband (IWB) and outside-the-waistband (OWB) 1911 holsters?

An inside-the-waistband (IWB) holster is designed to be worn under clothing, close to the body for concealment. It can offer a better fit and is more comfortable for most users. Outside-the-waistband (OWB) holsters are worn outside clothing, providing easy access to the firearm. While OWB holsters are generally faster to draw, they may be less discreet for concealed carry purposes.

Are there any special considerations for choosing a 1911 holster with a specific gun carry method?

  • Concealed carry: For concealed carry, look for a holster that is thin, lightweight, and designed for minimal printing or visible outline under clothing.
  • Inside-the-waistband carry: An IWB holster should be designed to comfortably conceal the pistol and should be adjustable for a customized fit.
  • Outside-the-waistband carry: An OWB holster should be adjustable for cant angle and ride height to ensure it fits the user's body and gun model well.

How do I maintain and clean a 1911 holster?

Cleaning and maintaining a 1911 holster involves regularly inspecting it for tears, wear, or damage. Leather holsters should be conditioned periodically using a leather conditioner, and all holsters should be wiped clean of sweat, dirt, or debris. It is also essential to prevent excessive moisture buildup that can damage the holster or cause bacteria growth. Always check the holster before use for any signs of wear or damage, and replace it if necessary.

I Tested 12 Popular AI Models with a 65-Question Exam - Surprising Results!
12 Different Models (Table Made By Gemini 1.5)
Hi everyone,
I recently conducted a test to compare the performance of 12 different AI models. Using a custom-made 65-question exam, I evaluated each model's accuracy and compiled the results. I thought it would be interesting to share the findings here and get your thoughts on them.
I was really surprised by some of these results. All the models did quite well, considering the questions were pretty challenging. Even the lowest scores were still at 87.69%. It was fascinating to see open-source models being very competitive with the best models available.
I have subscriptions to GPT, Gemini, and Claude, but I don't have a good PC to run anything locally. The other models I tested were from free online demos I found. If you know of any other excellent models available for free online, please let me know! Also, I tested Perplexity Pro, but it performed so poorly that I didn't include it. Maybe the 65-question test was too long for it? Usually, it gives me pretty good results, so I'm not sure what happened there.
In terms of general personal use outside this test, currently, GPT-4, GPT-4o, and Gemini 1.5 are my favorites. I'm still not sure which is better between GPT-4 and GPT-4o as the outputs tend to be quite similar. I used to be really disappointed with Gemini, but I think they've improved it a lot recently. On the other hand, I'm more disappointed with Claude, especially Opus. Yes, it did rank 2nd here, but it constantly messes up in my personal use where GPT and Gemini never do. I let my friends use my subscriptions sometimes, and they agree that GPT and Gemini have been outperforming Opus.
Please share your insights and thoughts on these results!
PS: I have 5 years of tech experience in the US – please message me if you're hiring :)

Hi. I have a feeling na I'll get debarred from my current program (2 courses from 2nd semester + 1 course from last year). Can I already send an appeal sa dean and dept. chair right after ma-release ang grades? or can I still take summer classes ngayong June para ma-clear na? Matagal pa kasi ang advising, so is it okay na dumiretso muna sa guidance counsellor? I'm from Commerce by the way.
TIA 💗

2024.06.01 11:27 better_be_better Skipping a grade - positive experiences?

A few months ago, after their proposal and discussions with his teacher and counselor and school psychologist, we agreed my 1st grade son will skip 2nd grade and go straight to 3rd grade when school starts again after summer break.
So of course I've done the stupid thing of looking at old posts in this sub with same question, and majority responses are "don't do it, they're not socially/emotionally ready, i did and was too socially awkward" etc etc.
Obviously this is a key concern for me too, but the main driver from the teachecounselopyschologist was exactly the fact that he is socially/emotionally set (besides test results) and would fit right in with his new peers. He already has a few friends in that grade.
Other advice in threads against skipping is instead to give them "enrichment in classroom, advanced subject classes, get him to assist others, just let them read in class when they're done". Problem is, he's already doing that, teacher provides him with extra work, he has set activities to do when he's finished, he's already helping the other kids.
A brief look at studies/articles shows if he's ready, this is going to be good for him.
I therefore want to find out, does anyone have any positive experiences of their kids skipping a grade because they were emotionally/socially/academically ready?

2024.06.01 11:17 Electronic_Soil7562 I lost my support system due to them becoming moms, but I’m still their support

This is a throwaway account just because it’s so very personal.
It’s wild but all my closest friends became pregnant within the last year and a half and 2 of them recently had their babies and one is about to.
This week I find myself in a lonely situation - my cycle is being weird like it never had before in my life and the two main possibilities are either I’m pregnant or this is the first signs of perimenopause. I’m going to buy pregnancy tests today and if I am pregnant (I’ll test a few times in the coming week for certainty) I will get an abortion. If I’m not, I’ll visit a gyno anyway to see if it’s the 2nd possibility, which is so entirely depressing if true. I’m in my early 40s, I thought this would happen later on, but I did some googling and found this is the most common time for this.
I really don’t feel like I can talk to my friends about either of these things or ask for support. And it’s so lonely. Yet I keep writing to them asking if they need anything from me (outside of help with the baby), and offering to bring them things, or build furniture, or make them food and stuff.
But I know they have no physical or mental availability to be with me if I need them. And some comments to me from the first one to have her baby made her seem less supportive of my Childfree choice than I originally believed, and I’m a little afraid the others will be that way too now. So I’m simply not telling them what’s going on with me, and now I have to explore what’s happening to me on my own, with no one to talk to.
I live in a country I did not grow up in, so I have no family here, and I’m not in a relationship, so I don’t have a partner for support.
I’ve never felt so alone in my whole entire life.
EDITED to add: since this is such a new account, I asked a mod to approve this post so it would show. But since it’s so new, so far my replies to your comments are being automatically removed. I’ve asked the mods if they can fix this. I understand if they can’t. If not, I will edit the post again later with some replies. I appreciate any support, thank you ❤️

2024.06.01 11:11 happypancakeday A 148 LSAT Score got me into TRU

Hello everyone,
I'd like to give some unsolicited notes to anyone who's trying to get into law school. It's been a long journey for me so I'd like to impart a few things for anyone chasing their dream.
Before I write those out, I'd like to give some context to my background:
I graduated in 2014 with a 2.78 GPA (last 20 courses) on a 4.0 scale in Poli Sci from the University of Calgary. I didn't care, I was lazy and just wanted to pass. As some Poli Sci majors say, they'd like to study law. I said that too but I always knew my GPA was too low. However, that was more of an excuse forv my laziness.
When I graduated, I worked for the local United Way on a 4 month contract. I was then faced with unemployment for 1.5 months.
I then signed up with a temp agency and worked as a temporary employee for 2 federal offices for 1.5 years. My goal was to find full-time employment which luckily happened at a Canadian tech company in 2016. I have been there ever since where I've been working in Operations-focused roles.
In the summer of 2019, I joined the Canadian Armed Forces as a Reservist while working full-time at the tech company.
In that same year, I saw my spouse get into their MBA program. I was motivated and inspired to try for law school. I studied for a few months and in September 2019, I wrote my first LSAT in which I got a 142. I continued to study and got a 148 in August 2021 for my second attempt. I decided to study some more to get a higher score on my third attempt.
In September 2021, I went back to the University of Calgary to upgrade my GPA in Fall 2021. I knew that to have any chance at getting accepted, I'd need to increase my GPA. I took full-time courses (minimum of 3 courses per semester) and stacked up every spring and summer with courses to get 20 courses done as quickly as possible.
I couldn't just pick and choose courses to upgrade from my undergrad because some courses were no longer offered. I chose courses based on ratemyprof and remote options because I was working full-time remotely. Sometimes, however, I had to take an in-person course with in-person tests. Luckily, my work was flexible and allowed me to go to school on the side. Ultimately, I raised my last 20 courses GPA from 2.78 to 3.89 with no grade below an A-.
In that timespan, I wrote the LSAT 3 more times prior to this application. TRU took my 148 score. I wrote it again this April and got a 153. While it didn't matter for the acceptance at TRU, a 153 is an improvement on its own.
I know this is an overly long post but I'd like to impart with a few notes that I hope can help people with fulfilling their dream of getting into law school.
  1. If you really want it, you'll have to dedicate your life to it.
I was 28 when I started this journey and I'm 32 today. Almost 5 years of non-stop push. I could've started my GPA journey earlier but we were financially focusing on my spouse's education first.
Countless hours spent doing homework and studying while working a full-time job, dedicating time to the Canadian Armed Forces and spending time with my spouse. I did homework and studying while on holidays. When we welcomed our child, I was finishing up my courses. All-nighters and falling asleep at the desk to finish some paper all while work was around the corner to start with 1 hour sleep.
  1. Ask yourself "how can I improve?"
If you're looking at your background and stats, look at it holistically. Some schools, as you probably know, employ a holistic approach. I'm not going to say that my professional experience is unique or stellar but I can tell a story of persistence. If you don't have any professional experience, try to build on that. It shows initiative and a desire to grow as a professional. UofC even mentions on its website that a lack of professional experience can lead to not being selected.
If you feel that your GPA can and should be improved, go for it. I'd like to think that the LSAT has more weight than a GPA but I'd like to think that the GPA is important as well. A strong course grade can be obtained by getting to know your prof and being efficient with homework and studying. All things I never did while in undergrad.
  1. Tell your story
Point to any strengths and improvements that you've achieved in your life. Although I'm not a fan of sob stories, if you have had any hardships, mention those but I'd advise against making them the main point of your own story. Focus on how you overcame hurdles and challenges and how they make you a strong candidate.
  1. Make a plan, take it one step at a time and be efficient
If you feel that your only thing that you'd need to improve on is the LSAT, focus on the LSAT. If you feel it's a mix between upgrading your GPA and improving the LSAT, do both but at a reasonable pace. If you think it's gaining professional/extracurricular experiences (and possibly the above), do so without driving yourself insane.
It's important to keep a healthy balance. Even just doing one item will take away countless hours of relaxation/family time/fun and everything in between. I remember telling my spouse "I have homework" or "I have to study" all the time. You might drain someone near you and/or yourself.
Sorry, for the long post but I hope this helps someone to look at their pursuit with a different perspective!

2024.06.01 11:10 Witty-Awareness9276 California State Clep Pathway starting at 13 yrs old.

If your child does not plan to attend the UC system or Stanford they only need to take 30 classes in order to attain 90 credits of their degree at a state school (SF State, Chico State Etc.)
The example of college classes for SF State is broken down here SF State CLEP Breakdown on College Board which is updated here on SF State website and you can use any of the State websites they should all have this information. Accepted CLEP exams on SF State website. Now when you look at a degree path for any undergraduate program you will have a group of core courses that are mandatory which are basically a repeat of what you take in high school. So for the first two years of college you are repeating the 10th through 12th grades.
You have English and composition, Social Sciences, Math and Science that make up your core classes. **Hold on I read the fine print.**
At SF State there is a cap on Exam Credits at 30 Credits. (There are many liberal arts online colleges that don't have a cap)
None of their CLEP exams satisfy the Area A requirements.
So 30 credits is one year of schooling of which you can satisfy GE requirements.
Area B: Scientific Inquiry and Quantitative Reasoning – 9 units minimum
You cannot take a Lab for CLEP so B1, B2 and B4 requirements can be met, but you may have to take a class with a lab in order to complete the requirements for your program depending on your major.
Biology5033B2 Calculus5033B4 Chemistry5033B1 College Algebra5033B4 College Algebra - Trigonometry5033B4

Natural Sciences5033B1 or B2 Pre-Calculus5033B4

Trigonometry5033B4
Area C: Arts and Humanities – 9 units minimum
You can definitely satisfy the Humanities, and possibly two of the other arts requirements for the C section so two classes from this section definitely so 6 credits.
American Literature5033C2 Analyzing and Interpreting Literature5033C2

English Literature5033C2

Humanities5033C2

Western Civilization I5033C2
Area D: Social Sciences – 6 units minimum
This entire section can be resolved for GE requirements of 6 credits.
American Government5033D+ USG

History, United States I5033D+ USH History, United States II5033D+ USH

Introductory Psychology5033D Introductory Sociology5033D

Principles of Macroeconomics5033D

Principles of Microeconomics5033D

Western Civilization II5033D
So that is definitely 21 GE satisfying credits that are fully transferrable to the state school level. SF state caps Community college transfer credits at 70 credits that is 90 transfer credits all together leaving just one year at State in residency. You can take another 3 classes as CLEPS but they would probably be applied to electives, but you can take CLEPS in your child's field of interest. That would mean less classes at the Community College or 4 yr level. So if a child is going into business and clep out Principles of Marketing for example.
If your child begins and has the rigor they can fill their schedule with CC classes and then fill the rest of their time with CLEP tests. If they are going to school concurrently then where I am they can start at 15-16 at the CC. They then have to take the scraps of classes not filled which can be difficult to plan out.
If there are others out there who see what I may have missed please let me know.

2024.06.01 11:02 SarawrAU Did they fix Extra Action Scaling in remix?

Just did an LFR MSV first wing and usually a level 70 tank can kill the 2nd boss with the reflect crystal on Epicenter in a few seconds, however it did practically nothing in terms of damage. Ran a Secrets of Ragefire scenario after and again, the rocket jump was doing next to no damage when it would usually easily one shot the adds as level 70.
My husband speculated this is a fix for the Doomguard being absurdly strong, but I've not had the chance to test that yet.
I've not seen it mentioned anywhere yet however.

2024.06.01 10:35 lightgrxy I have the feeling that i have AD(H)D

This post gets instantly deleted when i post this in ADHD so i try it here
Im a 16 years old boy. Im thinking a lot of having AD(H)D the last months. Im sorry that i wrote this much but i really want to share my thoughts and i hope that some of you can help me.
I never thought about having adhd or add. Last christmas my sister said that i probably have adhd. At first i insulted her as a joke because i didnt took it serious. After talking with my mom she said that she thinks so as well. I know that they both dont know much about adhd but i started to think about it afterwards.
I dont want to go to a doctor rn because im a bit scared but i would really like to know what you think.
I did a lot of research and there were some symptoms that actually fitted to me. My biggest issue is that I have some concentration problems.
My attention span is extremely short so i cant concentrate good on most of the things. Especially in school. I can love a theme and be extremely hooked but often after a couple minutes i think about something else and realize it a minute later. So i often cant learn much in school. If there is something extremely important like a class test i can focus better but not completely.
Thats why i need to teach me stuff by myself all the time. My grades are good but my parents always say i could do much better.
I am often in my own world in everyday life and shut out the world around me. Sometimes that makes me feel very strange. That's why I immediately forget or completely ignore things that are said to me.
I simply lose myself in many everyday tasks. For example, if I plan to finish cleaning in 1 hour, I often need 3 or 4. It frustrates me because I realize every time that it can be done so quickly and I'll never get it done. No schedule works and I have to put everything off until the last minute. I've started studying for almost every test at school at some point during the night because somehow I can't do it beforehand. There's too much to stop me during the day and I don't have this extreme time pressure that forces me. I take on a lot of personal projects only to never really finish anything. My parents often think I'm lazy. I don't know if it's that or if it's maybe because of puberty. Sometimes I have the feeling that ADHD or ADD is just an excuse for me, but at the same time somehow so many things apply.
Im a teen and I also want to try new stuff and also probably stupid stuff and i wanted to try Ritalin or similar. I was curious about the effects and just wanted to know. My friend has strong ADHD so he gave me Elvanze. Its actually a stupid idea to try it without being diagnosed and it was also 80mg so i think it was stupid. But i had the feeling that it could help me in my everyday life considering i take a lower dosage. I felt way more concentrated and way more present. I could focus on things normally without getting distracted. Afterwards doing this is just stupid but having the thought that it could help me for 6 months made me do it. But the feeling that i did literally took a type of drug and im possibly actually just lazy and make this up makes me feel like shit.
thanks to everyone that red this text and can maybe share his opinion. Are these actual symptoms or is it something normal. I really cant tell.

2024.06.01 10:12 Visible_Ease_3800 AITAH for emailing my TA after emailing my professor?

I (18M) am in university and currently taking 2 spring classes. In one of my classes, I had an assignment coming up with 2 midterms following back to back afterwards (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday). So I ended up completing the assignment the day right before it was due and completely forgot to turn it in the next day thinking I would have time to go over it tomorrow. I ended up spending my night studying for my midterm that was coming the next day.
On the day of my midterm, it's late at night and I realize that I forgot to turn in my assignment. The syllabus states it has a strict policy on late assignments and will not be accepted unless accommodations for mental health or any medical issues. Knowing this, I email the professor before midnight asking if anything could be done about it because I wanted to take something over the assignment worth 7% of my grade. He responds the next day saying he cannot accept the submission because it's 2 days past the due date and that I need to remember to turn in my work. I am in shambles. I never had to deal with an issue like this before because I always remembered to turn in my work, but this was one of the days I was way too busy and it just flew out of my mind the moment I set my mind to studying for the midterm. The feeling of dread and everything hit me when I got the email. Afterwards, I talked about it to a couple friends saying that they had turned in late assignments before but I had to keep in mind that they were in a whole different major. With very little hope, I then decided to email the TA on Thursday thinking that maybe they can do something about it because they are the ones grading the assignment. I email the TA with more detail and desperation in the tone of my message because I was feeling overwhelmed, saying that I would take any percentage and that it felt unfair I spend hours on the assignment to end up with a 0 and little to no time to study for my other tests. Then the next day after, I receive another email from the professor stating that it is unacceptable for me to try to bypass the policies. I felt really bad at this point because my mindset when I sent the TA the email was that "there's no harm in not trying right?" After reading the email, I I felt like I wasted their time and had the TAs go through a hassle just to contact the professor again and read through another university students rant and having to feel bad for them. I responded to the email apologizing and saying I was confused on who to email because my thought process was that the TAs grade it, wouldn't it have been better to email the TA? In the end I emailed both of them. And so, I sit here with a 0 learning my lesson but also feeling like I committed academic dishonesty. I didn't have the intention to try to get around the policy but from the professors perspective he just thought I was trying to slip my way into getting my assignment graded by the TA when in reality I thought I had nothing to lose to try and get any marks.
I feel bad. I'm thinking about going to apologize to the professor in person for what happened and just clearing things up.
TLDR: I email my prof about a late assignment and he said no, then I emailed my TA asking about it and ended up with a firm email that accuses me for trying to bypass the no late assignment policy (TAs grade the work).
EDIT: I also ended up failing that midterm so overall just added on to the bad week in general.
